We as a fandom joke about Tim's cloning stint a lot. It was a fucked up thing for Tim to do and definitely showed off his Mad Basement Scientist vibes quite literally. It is, objectively, pretty funny.
On the other hand, how much of Tim's soul was lost that he tried 99 times to create a replication of Kon? He knew it wouldn't bring his best friend back. He knew, at best, Tim's project would be closer to Kon's biological sibling instead.
Despite that, Tim tried 99 times. Each trial might have brought him closer, but they would've taken an extreme amount of time. It would have cost so much money and resources.
Tim, as he slowly broke down in front of a glass tube that once imprisoned his friend, did not stop. He wouldn't. He couldn't. He knew Kon would hate him for this. He knew his best friend would be furious at the blatant disregard for clones. Tim was so lost that he gave up everything for a mere impression of Kon. He sacrificed his time, effort, and resources. On the line was his reputation in the hero community, relationship with Kon, and mental stability.
Since this morning I have had a Tiktok home with videos about Gotham with povs and stuff like that.
For example like this:
And nothing, I'm loving it 🤩
People who create stories by inserting Bruce Wayne as if he were a celebrity like the Kardashians or some actor from our universe. Or stories with sightings of Batman, Nightwing or Robin etc.
I love all of this and I love opening Tiktok and pretending that Gotham and the characters are real ❤️🩹
I just want to leave a thought here: we know it's canon that Jason Todd appreciates Tim Drake now that no one is 'fighting for the cowl', so I imagine a post-Gotham War scenario where Jason has gone off the grid, but Tim has had his share of 'family backstabs' (figuratively and literally), he's no newbie, and he finds him.
They patrol together in Crime Alley. They exchange information and mechanical knowledge, they go to the bat-burger joint together (because last time Jason was there, but Tim was 'dead'), Tim finds Robin as his surprise, and they get offended like two idiots because 'obviously'. They rough up some thugs together and after a while Tim tells him to talk to Dick.
Jason thanks him, tells him to fuck off, not necessarily in that order. Jason needed this. Jason loves that kid.
"You still owe me money for that frame component!"
"You're a billionaire Drake, Wayne, whatever!"
"(singing:) -Don't hate me 'cause my daddy's rich. Motherfucking jealous bitch!-"
