Idk if you’re still taking hournite requests but if you are can you do one about them kissing after a stake out because I’m a sucker for hourman!rick sweeping Beth off her feet and you’re the best writer of them!!! No pressure! Hope you have a great day! Love your writing <333
"This is a dud." The ground shook when Hourman landed from his jump out of the scouting tree. "I'm out."
"Rick!" Courtney groaned, lowering down from her vantage point higher up the evergreen that touched the boarding school's estate, whispering through clenched teeth. She pointed her staff at him. Cosmo's light swerved up and down in response, quiet with the faintest of glows. "We're being discreet!"
He stretched his neck, rolling it around. Wildcat and Dr. Mid-Nite slowly emerged from their own hiding, shooting each other helpless looks.
"Who cares? We've been here for three hours. My hour's about to give up. Nothing is happening here, let's leave."
The long claws of Yolanda's suit gloves tapped impatiently against her folded arms. "He's right, Court. I get that you think the Helix Institute is freaky, but we already questioned Nurse Love and Director Bones. Nothing weird has happened since they thought we left here."
"Not you too!" Courtney exclaimed. Her curls whipped back and forth as she whirled around, trying to rally support from Beth, the last of her team members to yet chime in on the fate of her precious stake out. "Dr. Mid-Nite?"
Beth hesitated, checking the time. "It's almost 3 AM in the morning. Don't you have that math test to study for, Court?"
Yolanda smacked Courtney's arm. "You have a math test?!"
"Hey!" Courtney struck out Cosmo, flying above ground to avoid the attack. "It's fine! I studied! I've got it handled!"
Rick sucked in an annoyed breath. "You need to study. Beth skipped dinner for this and Yolanda needs to get back home before her mom sends her here next."
Courtney's face brightened, suggesting her eyebrows rising behind her blue mask, a horrible idea obviously cooking in her head. She opened her mouth. "What if Yo--"
"No!" vetoed Rick and Beth simultaneously. Beth looked surprised at their matched adamant tone, and even more so at the wink he shot her when he noticed her still looking.
Yolanda jutted her hand out with a glare. "Girl don't even go there!"
"I've got night vision and snacks," said Beth, always taking one for the team. "You're the one with the test, Courtney. I don't mind staying a little longer with Rick until his hour is fully done."
Courtney looked like she wanted to protest, but Cosmo chirped, dragging her onto the path in the opposite direction of the school. "Whoa!"
"See?" said Rick. Even the staff agreed. Case closed.
"Okay, sheesh! I get it! I get it!"
Yolanda waved before jogging to follow. "We'll meet up again tomorrow."
Beth lifted the goggles from above her eyes, incredulous at Rick's aloofness as they waited around in the dark. "You're not going to convince me to leave, too?" She dug into one of the pockets of her yellow and black suit for a granola bar. Two bites into it, she turned to glance again, still waiting for a reply.
"It'll be over soon." He tapped at the base of his hourglass. The sand was aglow, tilting into the slightest pile at the edge of the pinhole.
"I thought you were itching to get out of here."
"I was...but..." He craned his neck upwards, looking back to the evergreen. It was a nice view, eerie institute aside, and the moon was out. The other girls got to climb and fly high, but Beth always stayed grounded. It wasn't fair she always missed out on seeing the sights. Holding out his gloved hand, he reached for Beth.
She tucked her granola bar away, interest piqued. "But?"
"Do you trust me?"
"Are you seriously Aladdin-ing me right now?"
He cracked a smile. "I don't have a magic carpet."
She levelled him a look. "You're my boyfriend for a reason. Yes, I trust you."
"Nice to hear. Hold tight." He took her hand, and secured it around his neck. It was just enough time for Beth to yelp when he started moving. She clung onto his cape, hooking one leg around his hip as he launched up to dangle from the lowest tree branch, effortlessly climbing up until they were at eye-level with the school's roof. Beth shuffled, sitting with one hand bracing the trunk like her life relied on it gazing around in the open air.
"It's pretty, right?"
Beth, still winded and a little speechless, nodded her head. She smiled at the way he looked at her instead of the starry night and moon. He was proud of his trick and she knew it. He managed to sweep her off (and sixteen ft above) her feet.
She fixed her goggles on again, scanning the area with her new vantage point. Just as Rick was about to ask what she was looking for, she gasped, grabbing his hand. "An owl!" she whispered excitedly, pointing at the next tree. "It's watching us, look!"
There was indeed an owl perched on the branch a few feet away. Its black eyes grew in size as it stared at its unexpected guests.
"Are we, uh, disturbing him?"
Beth tapped the side of her goggles. "It's a girl, she's a Barred Owl. Five years old." She flipped a switch, entering X-Ray mode. "And currently digesting her last meal." Beth winced, removing her goggles so she wouldn't have to watch more of the owl eating its dinner.
"Definitely disturbing, then. Maybe she's Hootie's cousin," Rick joked, humouring her.
"Maybe."
"We should leave her alone."
"Is that why you brought me here?" Her eyes fell to his lips. "For privacy?"
"Do you think we need it?" Rick was so close, Beth wasn't gripping the trunk for support anymore, instead she leaned into his space until her back fit against his suit. His arm securely wrapped around her. Better at heights, she may be, he'd still never let her fall. Her hair tickled his nose when he tipped his chin down.
"I'd never say no," she breathed.
Rick kissed her smile. She sighed, bringing a hand to his cheek, mask and all. She cupped his face and pressed another kiss when the last one ended and the sandglass was empty. "We're going to be so tired at school."
"Did you want to get down?"
"No."
"Me neither."
end.

‘I Need You to Pull Over!’
@sicktember 2022 Prompt #24
Fandom/OCs: Shane & Molly OCs
Title: It’s Not Over
Words: 2330
Inspiration: Shane’s bout with the stomach flu is alluded to in the first fic I wrote for Shmolly.
Author’s comments: What can I say? It’s stomach flu fic. Nothing against you, Shane. There’s only certain people I can bring myself to whump with emeto, and you happen to be one of them. Your fate was sealed when Molly mentioned this stomach bug last year. I’d say sorry but– I’m just the messenger.
CW: multiple mentions of vomiting and diarrhea. This is a stomach flu fic. You have been warned.
There's nothing quite like a bout of the stomach flu to test a relationship, and for Shane and Molly, the test came relatively early in their courtship. They had been together a little less than a year when gastrointestinal disaster struck.
Molly first became aware of the impending storm at lunch one day. She and Shane were sitting together in the hospital cafeteria as usual. Shane was generally ravenous by lunchtime and inhaled his food more than ate it. On this particular day though, he barely picked at it and took at most three or four bites the entire time they sat there. Of course, Molly asked him about this strange behavior, unable to miss how clammy he was looking. In response, Shane made a face.
"I'm not feeling so good. My stomach is really messed up today." He belched softly to prove his point, his hand going reflexively to his stomach. "Ugh, and I'm so bloated, look." He shifted away from the table to show her, and sure enough, the middle buttons on his tight, usually well-fitting shirt were straining over his rounded abdomen.
She made a small sound of concern.
He shifted uncomfortably, still rubbing his stomach. "I thought eating might help, but it definitely did not. Just made me feel even more gross."
Molly took a deep breath, reaching across the table to press her hand to his forehead. "Poor guy. You do feel a little warm. And you're all sweaty. You gonna make it through work?"
Shane shrugged. "I think I'll be okay. I'll call you if I need to go, though." He stifled another quiet belch just then, and Molly's stomach twisted in response. She could only nod, unspoken understanding hanging between them. They both knew well that a nasty stomach bug was going around the city right now. All the patients were talking about it, and the ER was overrun with it. It wasn't looking good for Dr. Mitchell. Molly's anxiety was suddenly through the roof; historically, she didn't do well with close-proximity puking.
The two parted ways when the hour ended. Shane looked very down, and Molly wished there was something she could do. She made sure to give him a good hug before they left (around the ribs, steering clear of his stomach) and wished him well. Even with space between them, she could hear his stomach gurgling ominously, and he continued to rub it as he walked away.
Around four o'clock, not long before their workday was due to end, Molly received a text from Shane:
"S.O.S. Definitely sick 🤢 please come get me ASAP."
Molly's heart fluttered, but she tried to stay calm. She let her boss know she needed to duck out a bit early, and was excused without an issue. She drove across the hospital campus to his building as quickly as she could. Shane was sitting on a bench around the side of the building, out of sight of most passerby. His head was laid back while both hands were clutching his stomach. He hopped up as soon as he saw her car, though, and quickly got in. He immediately leaned over to put his face between his knees, arms wrapped around his middle with a sickly groan. Though Molly was beyond anxious, she was glad for his sake that they had ridden together today of all days. She wasn't sure how he could've driven home on his own in his current state.
"How bad is it?" she asked cautiously, putting the car in drive as she tried to maneuver as smoothly as possible. "You look terrible."
"I feel terrible," he moaned. "It’s so bad. I've already thrown up twice. Once around three, and again just before I texted you. I actually felt better for a while after the first time, which is why I tried to stay. But I'm just feeling worse every minute now. I'm beyond nauseous. My stomach will not calm down."
Molly bit her lip and focused on the road, unsure what to say. She drove as smoothly as possible, but there was always quite a bit of stopping and starting involved when trying to leave the hospital campus, and they managed to hit the first few lights on the way to Shane's condo, too. The sick doctor kept his head down, but it was a losing battle. Shortly after the second light he sat bolt upright in a panic, looking green and clammy.
"I need you to pull over!" he moaned, arms crushing around his middle as he swallowed convulsively.
Molly had been expecting this and had been driving in the right lane. Before the words had totally left his mouth, she was yanking the car to the side and immediately squealed to a stop. Shane leapt out before the wheels were still and barely had time to fall to his knees before he began heaving, his stomach trying to purge every last bite he'd eaten over the past day or two.
Molly didn't watch, covering her ears and controlling her breathing. ("In through the nose, out through the mouth.") Shane needed her, so she needed to stay calm, and sympathy puking wasn't going to help anyone.
Many endless minutes later, he dejectedly climbed back into the car, looking no better and still holding his stomach. Molly wordlessly handed him a water bottle. He rinsed out his mouth and spit several times before taking a few tiny swallows.
"Good to go?" Molly asked quietly.
"Yeah," he sighed, letting his head fall back against the seat and closing his eyes, more pale and clammy than ever. "I just wanna get home." The sound of his thick swallowing and his grumbling stomach were loud in the quiet car.
"We'll get you there," Molly reassured him, putting the car into drive.
Shane had very little respite. Not five minutes had passed before he put his head between his knees again with a sick whimper. Thankfully the condo was only a few more miles away. However, Molly had no more put the car in park outside his door when he shot up with a strangled noise of alarm.
"I'm gonna hurl," he moaned, dashing to unlock the front door and sprinting to the bathroom to pray to the porcelain gods once more.
Shane spent the rest of that day on the bathroom floor, vomiting at least every hour. Molly, for her part, felt very useless. Now that the worst had happened, her anxiety had all but disappeared. Her boyfriend was very sick, and all she wanted was to help him somehow, but there wasn't much to be done. She made a quick run to the store for stomach flu supplies, primarily Pedialyte and Gatorade, but after that she simply hung around and tried to keep him company. She wasn't about to leave him alone in this state, after all.
She did make one miscalculation, though, in trying to care for him. There was a soup and sandwich place just down the road that Shane frequented. He adored their chicken and rice soup, and believed it to be the best cure-all for everything from headaches to the sniffles. As soon as it was clear Shane was down for the count, Molly fetched him a quart of soup to go from the deli. She brought it to the bathroom eagerly.
"Shane, I got you something I think you'll like!" she said, opening the container.
Shane lifted his head from the rim of the toilet, leaving a little trail of drool behind, and sluggishly turned to look at her, sweat-soaked and pale, an arm held loosely over his abdomen. "Soup?" he said warily.
"Yeah, your chicken and rice!"
Shane leaned forward to get a closer look, but the steam reached his face about then. Molly saw his lips go pale and the arm over his stomach tightened immediately as he broke out into a fresh sweat. He spun around and began to dry heave over the toilet yet again.
Molly quickly closed the carton, going pale herself at such a violent reaction to a benign smell. She quickly took the food far away, putting it in the fridge for him to find when he was ready and cursing her foolishness.
And so, the day passed. Molly settled in to stay the night, still unwilling to leave Shane, though he didn't seem to want her hanging around the bathroom much. Shane was usually very tactile when he wasn't feeling well, but apparently that changed when he was puking, which was understandable. She was thankful the next day was her day off as she didn't expect to get the best sleep, nor would it have been wise to go in after being surrounded by stomach flu germs for hours. However, she was determined to be here if and when he needed her. She took over the bedroom and master bath while poor Shane had the bigger main bathroom to himself. She stayed up late, hoping he would start to feel better, but she waited for naught.
Around midnight she was ready to sleep, so she went to check on him once more and bring him some Gatorade. When she walked in, he was lying on the floor cradling his aching stomach. He turned his head to meet her eyes with his own sickly gaze. She clucked sympathetically, kneeling beside him to press a kiss to his forehead. He moved away from her weakly.
"How are you holding up?" she asked. "Any better?"
"No," he croaked. "It's not over yet. I still feel like I could hurl any second."
"You poor thing. Anything I can do? Do you need a pillow or a blanket?"
"Still no. Just want you to stay away from here for now. I don't want to puke on you or pass this on. Either option is terrible. It's better if you keep your distance."
Molly sighed. "Don't be a martyr. If you need something, I want you to tell me, okay?"
"I will. But I'm okay for now. Go get some sleep."
She sighed again, but he had already turned away, ending the conversation, so she reluctantly went back to the bedroom. She fell asleep not long after that. Her last thought was a desperate hope that Shane would be able to get some rest as well that night.
The late morning light woke her the next morning, and she lay in bed for a while, deciding what to do. However, the decision was made for her when Shane crept into the room not long after she'd awakened. He had showered and changed and looked marginally better than when she'd seen him last, though no one could ever look well lying in front of the toilet with their head on a towel.
She sat up quickly, smiling in greeting. He attempted a half-hearted smile in return, though he was clearly exhausted, and still shockingly pale. He staggered into bed, curling up beside her with a pathetic groan.
"How're you doing, baby?" she murmured, beginning to stroke his hair while subtly checking for a fever. He was warmer than usual, but not alarmingly so.
He shrugged. "I'm alive, I guess. I haven't thrown up for about three hours, so that's good. Just got the shits now. I called into work already, obviously. Drank some Pedialyte. The nausea won't go away though, and my stomach is in knots. I'm still so goddamn bloated, too." He carefully rolled to his back and moved his tee shirt to show her, palming his stomach with a grimace. Indeed the roundness was clearly visible, and without thinking Molly too reached out to rub the bloating, wanting to fix whatever was hurting him. He made a little sound as she began to rub, and her hand froze in hesitation.
"No, please rub it," he mumbled. "Maybe if you do it, it'll help. It doesn't really work when I do it."
"That's what she said," Molly whispered, unable to keep a smirk from her face as she did what he asked. Shane gently smacked her leg and rolled his eyes, but smiled nonetheless.
"You're terrible," he said.
"Hey, it made you smile. That's all I was going for. Is this okay?" she asked, gently rocking her hand back and forth over his abused abdomen.
"Mhm," he sighed. "That's perfect. Feels so good." He yawned hugely.
"Did you get any sleep last night?" she asked, continuing the motion.
"Not really. I napped, I guess. Sleeping is the only thing I plan to do today, though. I’m hoping I can sleep this off."
As he finished speaking, she both heard and felt a cramp ripple through his stomach, making him hunch up in pain with a whimper. He quickly slid out of bed with a mumbled, "Be right back," running to his bathroom.
Molly flopped back down with a sigh. However, Shane returned surprisingly quickly, still holding his stomach and looking tired as ever, but otherwise no worse, and snuggled in beside her once more.
"Did you throw up again?" she asked.
"No. Just the other end now," he sighed. "I can't believe this still isn't over. The cramps are unreal. It's been the longest day of my life." He grabbed her hand and returned it to his upset stomach, and she felt it churning beneath her palm. She resumed rubbing and he made a sound of pleasure.
"I also can't believe you're still here," he said, almost too quiet to hear. "Thought you would've run for the hills by now. I wouldn't blame you."
"As long is this isn't over–" she gestured vaguely to his stomach, "–then this isn't over." She gestured to herself in his bed. He smiled again as she resumed stroking his middle.
"I don't deserve you," he mumbled, his eyes growing heavier.
"Just hush and go to sleep."
"Yes ma'am," he said with a smile. "You'll be here when I wake up?"
"Absolutely."
"Okay then," he sighed, slipping easily into slumber.

You looked down the hill on the castle you grew up in. The road behind you didn’t seem as long as that before you, your destination not an hour away. You sat on a rock as Peter paced and muttered under his breath. You closed your eyes and thought of Elina. You knew she was safe with Zemo and that made the distance easier.
Before you left Heinrich’s Creek, you’d held her as long as you could. You kissed her all over and handed her over with tears in your eyes. Zemo promised you would see her again but you knew it was unlikely. He did too and he had never been one to lie for the sake of emotion. It struck you deeply and you kissed him just as desperately.
“So… we walk straight up to the gates and what? Hope for peace?” Peter asked.
You fixed the collar of your tunic and gripped your cane, “we’ll get her back, Peter,” you promised as you pushed yourself up. You were dressed as a man, it made travel easier and the two of you less conspicuous, “you have rope?”
“Rope? Uh, yes, but--”
“We’ll leave my horse up here. May will need it,” you said as you neared him, “get the rope.”
“Why--”
“Peter, we came this far knowing what needs to be done,” your chest stirred with dread though you were consigned to your fate, “tie it around my neck, get up on your horse, and take me down that hill.”
“I--”
“He can’t think I’m here on my own will, he’ll know. You make him think you only want your aunt and you leave with her as quick as you can,” you voice cracked and you inhaled deeply, “I’m doing this for my daughter. So she can live without men like him.”
“You don’t have to die for it. Zemo, he can help--”
“He can’t. Not swift enough to save May,” you shook your head, “we’ve taken long enough to get here. Now tie me up and let us go.”
He looked at you and shuttered. He frowned and went to his saddlebag. He took out the length of rope and you raised your head as he wound it around your neck quietly. He knotted it and you leaned on your cane.
“I’m sorry,” he said as he finished.
“No, you don’t have to be,” you said, “when we get close, if you see him, you yank on me. As hard as you can. Make him think I am as much your captive as she is his.”
“I can’t--”
“Peter, you have to be strong. I won’t have your aunt die for me. Not like your uncle. I lived, he didn’t. I owe you much more than you ever did me,” you uttered, “Now get on your horse.”
He hung his head and nodded. He mounted and wrapped the end of the rope around his hand. He nicked and set off along the path. You stumbled and limped behind him, your cane skidding over the stones and mud. It was well into fall and the land was cold and wet. You were careful on the incline not to slip and saved yourself several times with the wooden stick.
He kept looking back the closer you got to the gates and you hissed for him to keep his eyes forward. He could blow it all after everything. He pushed his shoulders back as he approached the guards at the wall and he stopped just a little away from them. They stood at attention and gripped their pommels.
“Who goes there?” one asked and the men shared a look of recognition before Peter could answer.
“Lord Barnes is awaiting his bounty,” Peter said stonily, “I have her but he must first return what is mine as he swore to.”
“This is her?” The man at the left side of the iron gates asked.
“It’s her, you dolt,” the other interjected, “you remember her, don’t you? And look, she’s all messed up from the horse.”
“Where is Lord Barnes?” Peter insisted.
“Aye, in a moment,” the man clanged on the gate with his mailed elbow, “Oswald, fetch the lord. Tell him Lord Parker has come for the crone.”
You shifted and leaned heavily on your cave. You focused on your breath as it threatened to quicken to panic. You had weeks, months to prepare for him but you could never be ready. You shook and struggled to keep afoot. You knew only cruelty awaited you, even if he did believe your lies.
It was a time before you heard anything more. Peter grew impatient as his horse spat and snorted in kind. At last you heard footsteps and suddenly Peter tugged harshly on the rope. You fell to your knees as he spoke, boots mulching in the mud.
“Lord Barnes, I have your whore,” Peter called out, “Where is my aunt?”
You looked up as you clutched your cane and felt along the rope at your throat. Your eyes met Barnes’ and time seemed to stand still. His hair was even longer than before, his beard too. There were threads of silver through both and his left shoulder was barren of its former attachment.
“You are fortunate I had the patience to wait on you,” Barnes growled, “your aunt is alive… though I cannot say she is happy about it. You give me my woman first and I’ll give you yours.”
Peter hesitated. “How do I know it is not a trick?”
Barnes raised his hand and signaled to some unseen person. There was a creak and more footsteps. May was dragged up in her stained shift, a patched cloak draped crookedly over her shoulders.
“See, she’s all here,” Barnes called, “Now you hand her over and I’ll do the same. Fair trade.”
Peter looked over his shoulder as you stood and you lowered your chin. It was a subtle nod. Do it.
A guard came forward and he bent to hand over the rope as the gate was opened with the crank. You were taken off your feet again as the armored goon wrenched you meanly and laughed.
“I will have you stripped and whipped if you do it again,” Barnes warned as he came forward, his hand on May’s elbow, “give him the old lady.”
He released May as you were led through the gate and as you passed May she glanced at you. Your eyes met and she knew. There was an unspoken and piteous gratitude in her eyes. You hobbled onward and felt fingers closed around your arm. You lifted your head as Barnes grabbed you and pulled the rope slipped from the guard’s grasp.
“Close the gate. Let the boy go,” he demanded.
He said nothing more and turned back and hauled you with him. His hand slid from your arm and followed the length of the rope as he wounded it around his knuckles. You barely kept up with him as your cane bounced off the ground and you walked unevenly beside him. His silence was unsettling.
You passed through the wide doors of the castle and he huffed as you staggered across the stone. He spun you suddenly and kicked your cane out from under you. The stick rolled away from you and he bent to scoop you up over his shoulder, the rope straining at your neck.
“You won’t be walking much,” he snarled as he set off up the stairs.
You quivered and grasped at the back of his tunic. His hand held your thigh firmly and he squeezed, as if making certain you were real. The fear bubbled in your chest and all your plans fell to the floor like your cane had.
He swept into his room and kicked the door closed. He tossed you down on the bed as he let the rope free and you bounced violently on the feather mattress. He was quick to follow and straddled you under him. His hand roughly felt along your cheek and lips, lingering on your scar as he stared at you.
“I thought…” he rasped as his eyes bore into you, “did you laugh to think of me mourning you?”
“No, my lord, I…” you croaked. You were that girl again, that maid, terrified. “I never--”
“I cried for you,” he sneered, “I buried you!”
“My lord,” you grabbed his wrist as his fingers stretched across the rope, “please--”
“Did he make a good whore of you? Huh? Did you prefer him to me?”
“He took me against my will. I was not aware even that he did until it was too late--”
“I know,” he hissed as he leaned over you, his hot breath scoured your skin, “I know about our child.”
“I…” you shook your head, “I-- I--”
“Where is she?”
“I don’t--”
“You know!” he shouted, “you know!”
“I don’t. Zemo… he fled when Peter got hold of me. Like the coward you know him to be--”
“Stop lying--”
“I am not lying, I swear it, my lord,” you pleaded, “you have me. You don’t need the child.”
“It is my child,” he barked, “mine. You would keep her from me as you kept yourself.”
“No, I cannot-- I didn’t run. He took me. I never asked for it--”
“You will tell me where they are,” he backed off of you and grabbed the loose end of the rope again.
He flipped you and moved your hands to the middle of your back. He snapped at you not to move as he looped the rope around your wrists and struggled with one hand to pull it tight. He tested it with a violent tug that jolted your entire body. His fingers hooked into the back of your breeches and he ripped them down.
You yelped as he struck you with his hand. You kicked out and tried to stand. He pushed you back down with his foot and smacked your ass again.
“Stay,” he bid as he moved around behind you, “stay or it will only be worse… but I suppose it must be before you tell me.”
You twined your fingers together and pushed your head into the mattress as you braced yourself. You listened to him behind you and as he walked across the room. He opened the door and called to someone. You did not hear his orders, only the feet that shuffled to do as he wished.
He waited until they returned and the door closed heavily. There was a tap, tap, tap, as he neared you and you looked down past your shoulder at the sparkling head of your cane. He lifted it in his hand and rested it against your ass.
“Perhaps I spoke too soon when I said we would not need this,” he said.
He pulled back the cane and brought the wood down with a crack across your rear. You scream at the agony it sent up your spine. He did it again and your legs flailed helplessly.
“Where is she?” he asked.
“I don’t know,” you sobbed.
He struck you once more and asked the same question. You gave the same answer. The same thing, over and over. At least a dozen before he stilled. He brushed the wood against your bare skin and bent over you.
“I could have loved you. I wanted to,” he said, “we could have loved the child, too. Children… we could’ve had a whole litter.” He poked your ass with the cane as he stood straight and grazed between your legs with a hum, “Gods, we could just try for another right now.”
You closed your eyes and bit down. He withdrew the wood once more and his boot scuffed over the stone. He took a deep breath and let it out.
“In due time,” he said as he hit you again, “where the fuck is my child?”
You wept into the bedcover and thought of Elina. Thought of her in Zemo’s arms, the way she pulled his beard, and the way he smiled back at her, at you. You couldn’t tell him where they were if you wanted to. You never would. And if you suffered for it, Barnes would only suffer more. He would never know the only good piece of him to remain in the world.

Just found your blog, and I love it! May i ask for headcannons of Riddle, Vil, Malleus and Idia watching their designated Disney movie with their s/o?(akin Vil, Snow White, Riddle Alice in Wonderland, Malleus, sleeping beauty)
I’m going to assume that they would have the movies in this world since they canonly have The Little Mermaid adaksdjaksdjas
Riddle Rosehearts
Riddle is still getting used to relaxing and having fun, so watching movies is still rather new to him.
He sits rather stiffly on the couch at first, not really sure how he should sit, but he’ll slowly relax once you join him.
On the whole, I think Riddle would actually really enjoy Alice in Wonderland. It’s very colorful and whimsical and there’s something about it that gives him an almost nostalgic feeling.
He’d appreciate Alice as a protagonist, but I do think he’d find her a little annoying with how she thinks and does things at times.
“Who in their right mind just chases after a rabbit into a hole in the ground?” You hear him mutter and you can’t help but smile to yourself.
The Cheshire Cat immediately reminds him of Che’nya.
Riddle is immediately impressed by the Queen of Hearts entrance. She comes on screen and has this air of intimidation and power.
He points out some parts of the movie that reflect real life Heartslabyul rules! Like the rule about painting the roses, the rule about no cats at parties.
I think the part with the court scene he would find a little silly and quite exaggerated, however.
"So, it was all just a dream?" Riddle watched the credits roll with a rather confused look. "That wasn't satisfying at all!" You couldn't help but giggle at that.
"It's explained at the beginning! She wanted a world of her own, so she made one up herself~" Riddle just blinks owlishly at you at that, which just makes you laugh again.
He'll have to go and have some time to himself, probably having a mental crisis over what is real and what isn't.
Vil Schoenheit
Vil loves watching movies, so when you suggest watching a movie from your world, of course he’s all for it.
Knowing him, he’s no doubt seen the movie already, but he’s not opposed to watching it with you.
The Beautiful Queen summoning the spirit of the Dark Mirror scene makes a proud smirk come to Vil's face. He can't help but feel a bit of pride for his dorm watching it.
But immediately after, when Snow White comes on screen, his face drops into a scowl and he rolls his eyes.
Right off the bat, he comments about how annoying Snow White is.
“I just don’t understand why they gave her such a grating voice...” He grumbles, shaking his head. “It’s so irritating.”
Vil would point out how Snow White's dress and makeup, along with the Beautiful Queen's, is a reflection of the fashion from the period when the movie was made. (And if you pointed it out to him first, he'd be VERY pleased and impressed with you~)
"Oh, so THAT'S why they gave the Beautiful Queen pencil thin eyebrows?" You teased and Vil shoots you an unamused look.
"Of course. She's a product of her time, a staple for beauty and fashion from that era."
The dwarves do amuse him when they come on screen. He'd never tell you, but Dopey is his favorite.
He voices his admiration during the Queen's transformation scene.
"The lengths that she was willing to go is truly admirable..." He watches as she dips the apple into the poison. "But even the greats are capable of making mistakes. She should have ensured that Snow White could never be revived from the sleeping death."
He doesn't have much to say towards the ending, but he does look a little put out by Snow White being revived and getting a happily ever after.
"Such is the fate of villains..." He sighs. "Destined to die in the shadows while the heroes get their happy endings."
"Or is this case, getting struck by lightning and falling off a cliff." You remarked, grinning at the deadpan expression he gives you in response.
His rating for the movie is 9/10. The only reason it's not 10/10 is because of Snow White and the ending.
Idia Shroud
(I apologize in advance, Idia is one of the characters I'm still trying to get a handle on writing ;v;)
I feel like Idia and Ortho watched the Hercules movie as children and it was Ortho's favorite movie.
So watching it again with you was something nostalgic for him, even if he remarks on it being a kids movie. (You can argue that some of the anime he watches is also for kids, but that will upset him and he'll go sulk under his covers and you'll never finish the movie.)
"Uwehehehe...what a clumsy idiot." He's got that sharp smile on his face as he watches Hercules swing the column around and basically destroy his entire village.
Honestly, he's not really interested in Hercules' tale and he's not really a fan of musicals. The only parts that interest him are when Hades comes on screen.
The only commentary that he gives is to make fun of Hercules.
"It's not possible for people to get THAT muscular in such a little amount of time..." He mutters as he watches the training montage with a bored expression. "It's not scientifically possible." You shrug in response.
"He's part god, so maybe that's part of it?" Idia just snickers with a sharp smile.
"He looks like a car test dummy in a toga."
Idia admires how confident Hades is and how fast he can negotiate things. I think he secretly wishes he had that confidence too.
How does he feel about Megara? Mmmm, I don't think he's interested in her character either. She's the main hero's girlfriend and a pawn to Hades, that's it.
If Ortho is watching with you guys, he's really the only one that enjoys it besides you. Idia goes right back to what he was doing before you suggested watching the movie as soon as the credits roll.
Malleus Draconia
Of course, Malleus knew that there was a movie made about the Thorn Witch. He and Lilia showed it to Silver and Sebek when they were children. (Lilia had thought it would be good for them to learn the history behind the tale!) So when you bring up watching it with him, of course he wants to. He loves spending time with you and the fact you want to learn a bit about his culture warms his heart.
He does like the aesthetic of this movie. He finds the music and the hand-painted backgrounds to be charming.
He can't say he understands how animation works, but it's nice to look at nonetheless.
Malleus likes the three good fairies. He finds their antics and the way Flora and Merryweather butt heads to be rather amusing.
"You know, I've always wondered what the third gift would have been if the Witch of Thorns hadn't come in when she did," He muses as Maleficent makes her entrance. You hum in thought.
"Some people theorize it would have been eternal happiness." You look over at him with a slight smile. "You know....never needing to feel blue?" That makes him chuckle.
"Eternal happines....Yes, I quite like that idea for a gift."
If you remark on Maleficent being petty for cursing an infant, Malleus is going to pout.
"Well, quite frankly, I understand how she feels. It's rather hurtful not being invited to events." You look over at him and raise an eyebrow.
"Fine! Then curse the people who didn't invite you. Don't curse the infant child who had nothing to do with whether or not she was invited." Malleus just hurumphs and crosses his arms.
"In a roundabout way, the king and queen DID suffer for their actions. Having their baby cursed to die." A slight smirk breaks across his face. "I'm sure they'll think twice next time."
He doesn't say it, but he quite likes Aurora as a character and he loves the sound of her singing. He finds it very enchanting and relaxing to listen to.
Flora and Merryweather fighting over the dress color reminds him a lot of Silver and Sebek. Fauna's baking strongly reminds him of Lilia's cooking.
During the part where Aurora is being hypnotized, you suddenly gasping and clamping your hand on his arm startles Malleus. "OH MY GOD. I JUST REALIZED THAT THE CREEPY NOISE IS ACTUALLY SAYING HER NAME."
You both pause and listen again as the eerie note that played in between the music stings creepily called "Auuuroooraaa~" in a beckoning manner. Malleus blinked in surprise.
"Oh my. That would explain her expression as she walks up the stairs." He mused, putting a finger to his chin. "How clever. I've watched this film plenty of times and I never noticed that."
The part where Maleficent casts the thorns around Stephen's castle and turns into a dragon are Malleus' favorite parts.
"None of the other members of the Great Seven can do what she can do." He says with a prideful smirk. "She is truly supreme in her ranking."
Watching Maleficent back Prince Phillip onto a cliff and trap him with no protection is VERY satisfying for Malleus. But once the fairies bless the Sword of Truth, he pouts again.
"If it weren't for them, he wouldn't have been able to defeat her." He says. "It wasn't a fair fight." You raise an eyebrow at him at that.
"She turned into a huge, fire-breathing dragon. You call THAT fair?" His little pout in response just makes you laugh.
Overall, Malleus enjoys watching the movie with you and he'll gladly watch it with you again whenever you want to.

MICHE ZACHARIAS X SHY CADET
Miche finally tells his crush he likes her. That's it
Miche watched her from Erwin’s office as she left the headquarters to enjoy a well-deserved break. The evening sun highlighted her brunette curls, stopping just below her delicate shoulders. It was a shame really, her hair used to touch her waist when she first joined. She was so incredibly shy and anxious back then, struggling to find her place among younger people that were much stronger than her. He remembered back when she declined the promotion for the sake of her happiness. It had been 3 years since y/n joined the survey corps at the age of 20. She was a late beginner, but her analytical skills, a fateful emotional meltdown and a background in research had soon gotten her a place under section commander Hange. Y/n was not good as a fighter, but she was observant, more than Erwin and Hange. Miche could not help but notice her, she was cute after all. She had flaws, just like everyone else, but the veteran soldier was drawn to her in particular. He couldn’t remember when he felt like that for the first time. Maybe it was when he saw her for the first time, clutching a soiled handwritten application and trying her hardest to put on a brave face. Who knows? Who cares? The important part was that he liked her, she did not know and he was not going to tell.
“What are you looking at Miche? “
“N-nothing, Erwin. Go on…”
Miche went back to focusing on the meeting. y/n had already disappeared in the next lane, so there was no point looking outside. The meeting would go on for hours, as usual, veterans had no holidays.
Meanwhile, y/n made herself comfortable near the quiet riverbank. It was one of the few attractions in the little land of Paradis, especially after the fall of Wall Maria. The serene river glowed red under the now darkening sun rays. Y/n had about 30 minutes to draw something, after which it would get too dark. Problem was, y/n had no idea what to draw. So she just sat there, wondering about her life. It seemed self-indulgent to refuse work only to get out and ponder about herself, but she needed it. The chaos inside the headquarters hardly did her any good. She wanted quiet and peace, but what she had right now was just pure loneliness. Y/n had friends, but nobody close or free enough to sit under the open night sky. So she sat all alone over the wall, the cold breeze ruffling her hair. If only there were someone to hold her.
“Bottomline, all of you must prepare your squads for next month’s expedition. We can’t afford to compromise manpower. Pay attention to the weak members, we need them to come back alive. You all are dismissed.”
Miche walked out of Erwin’s office and went straight to his room that he shared with Dieter, another squad leader. He felt tired, as though he knew what was about to come. A lot of action and a shit ton of casualties, not to forget all the rigorous training he was about to deliver on the cadets.
“What a long day..”
“Tomorrow’s going to be longer, Ness.”
“Yeah.”
“Do you think you will make it through the expedition?”
Miche scrunched his nose at the odd yet totally reasonable question. Him and Dieter served the scout regiment since their teenage years, yet they never quite got used to the anxiety before impending doom. Against his overbearing stress, Miche gave him a positive answer hoping to lift his spirits.
“I will make it out alive, Ness. The most damage I will end up with is a lost limb, after which I will retire and live a peaceful life. Don’t worry.” Miche finished with his signature scoff, masking his true emotions. The shameless, pretentious display of cockiness was all worth the little chuckle from Ness, the most sociable, tender man among veterans.
They made their way to the dining hall after chit chatting and freshening up. Their tables had the usual serving of bread, soup and vegetables. His eyes scanned the place for the owner of those beautiful, crazy curls, y/n, she should have been back by now. He couldn’t see her anywhere. Usually it was so easy to spot her in her corner seat. Perhaps Hange assigned her some work, but he couldn’t risk revealing his crush by asking the overly-energetic squad leader. So he quietly finished his plate, feeling just a little hint of emptiness because he missed y/n.
“Nifa, find y/n and tell her I want her in the lab tomorrow at 6am sharp.” Mike overheard Hange speaking from a couple of tables away.
“Yes captain.” Nifa quickly finished her meal and left the dining hall and eventually the headquarters. Her face made it clear that she had done this several times now and Miche was not surprised. Y/n was often in her own head and stayed out for a long time. Miche just found it unusual for her to stay out this late. It was cold outside, no person in their right mind would stay out past 8pm. He wished he knew what was going on inside the girl’s head that made her personality so withdrawn, but he did not have the time. He needed to draft a schedule for this week’s training and tests for the cadets. Just the thought of sitting in an office doing paperwork with a candlelight flickering throughout the night made him feel calm. He was extremely skilled on the field, but he liked doing paperwork too. His studious side was something only his immediate squad and other veterans were familiar with. Sometimes he couldn’t help fantasizing about sharing his study with y/n. Aside from his feelings, y/n had the brains to draft a perfect test that tapped into all the necessary skills for the next expedition. After all, that was what she had been doing before joining the survey corps, albeit in a different field. Miche stopped in his tracks as an idea struck him. He felt dumb, so dumb. He had drafted so many tests, all by himself, fully knowing that there was someone that could probably do it better than him. Fully knowing that y/n had been a psychology student, and she had perfected the theory subjects after joining the survey corps. He turned around and approached Hange.
“Would you mind if I borrow one of your soldiers for a while?”
“That depends, Miche, who are you talking about?”
“Y/n, I need her help drafting the tests tonight. I think she can do a good job.”
“You are right.. I’ll let her know.”
“Tell her to be in my office by 9;30 tonight.”
Miche left for his office to begin work, he wanted to finish as much as he could before y/n showed up. Because work was not the only thing he was concerned about. He knew exactly what he was doing, it was dubious, but he needed to do it. It was funny how a few hours ago he thought he’d never confess his feelings, but later created an opportunity to do that exact thing. He couldn’t believe himself.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was 9;30 sharp, and Miche heard a soft knock on his office door.
“Come in, it’s unlocked, and take a seat before me.” He said without lifting his head.
Y/n made herself comfortable and glanced over three open books and a single page. Miche was writing down questions.
“Alright y/n, I need your help drafting the question papers for tomorrow’s tests. Of course, you will be exempted from actually taking the test as a reward.”
“Understood, sir”
“Good, now I want you to create 30 questions that combine the concepts of formations, weaponry and strategy. Make them difficult, and make sure to base it upon the last 5 expeditions.”
“Alright-”
“You have 2 hours to finish this.”
“Okay..” y/n walked over to the bookshelf and grabbed a heap of books. Miche raised his eyebrows in confusion,
“How are you going to refer to that many books and finish it within time?” Miche questioned her.
“I will, don’t worry.” y/n’s sudden confidence took him aback.
“Well good luck.”
Time flew by quickly as both of them were engrossed in their work, the only sounds coming from the candle and turning of pages. It wasn’t peaceful to be precise, y/n was turning pages with such aggression it made the section commander steal glances at her. She would flip through the pages and write down important points, constantly checking the time as she worked. Her handwriting got messier as time flew by and Miche couldn’t help but notice. He could tell that y/n totally had the plan to give those cadets a hard time. She had a weak, but cocky smirk the whole time, and Miche was just glad that he was not one of the people that would need to take the test. He knew that expression and aggressive handwriting very well. She always wore that smirk while writing exams, and everytime she came out on top. Miche knew she was overcompensating for her sub-par physique and iron-deficiency that interfered with her ODM skills, but that semblance of confidence on her face always turned him on. Her hair was still messed up, she struggled to keep that twisted fringe out of her face.
“Where’s the ruler?!” Y/n asked loudly, shaking Miche out of his trance.
“Wait…” He fished out a ruler from the clutter in his drawer and handed it to y/n.
“What are you drawing?”
“A wrong diagram of the latest formation.” Y/n replied curtly.
“I see.. Good.”
Miche was organizing his drawer after finishing his work when y/n handed him the tests. It was 11;30 sharp. The ink had somehow gotten between y/n’s fingers. Miche went through all seven pages of three extremely complicated tests and shot a glance at y/n, who looked like she was awaiting his praise. She was sitting with her back straight, wide eyed and messy hair. Miche chuckled, and y/n smiled. She knew she had done those cadets dirty with her questions.
“You have a naughty side, don’t you?” “Kitten” , was the term Miche refrained from using at the end.
Y/n nodded with a cheeky grin. The section commander squinted and got up from his chair, towering over her. A faint blush crept over her cheeks as she broke eye contact with him, staring down at her feet instead. Her delicate shoulders now looked tensed up under her transparent, embroidered shoulder shawl. The pile of paperwork didn’t allow him to notice her beautiful blush pink dress. She had embroidered little flowers to accentuate her figure all the way down to her hips.
“You look beautiful in that dress.” Miche blurted out, causing her to blush harder and breathe unevenly.
“Thank you, sir..”
“Look at me when you speak.”
“O-okay..” she slowly raised her head, still not wanting to make eye contact.
“I will be straight to the point y/n… I like you, not just as a comrade.”
“Understood.” y/n was taking quick, short breaths, causing the tall blonde to get on his knees. She had gone back to her timid mouse state and he could no longer read her.
“Are you scared right now?” Miche tried hard to not sound like a creep.
“No, I like you too!”
“That’s -” he began to speak but got cut off.
“More than a comrade, if you were wondering…” she trailed off shyly. Miche kept staring at her, dumbstruck at her honest confession. This whole time he had no idea about her feelings.
"When were you planning to tell me ..?" Miche asked, pulling a chair behind him. He was still leaning towards y/n with an expression of pure shock.
"I… Never planned on saying anything." Y/n's expression saddened as she looked at him with her doe eyes.
"I can understand.". he was telling the truth. The realisation that their confessions were a result of his impulsive decision dawned on him. He couldn't take his eyes off her form. She looked anxious, fondling with her pendant in one hand.
"Do you want to take this further?" Y/n asked with a shaky voice, and his answer was immediate.
"Yes."
She looked straight into his eyes and smiled.
"Can I kiss you?" The 35 year old man felt like a teenager trying to walk on eggshells. The woman before him giggled and nodded in approval, finally lifting her hand from the pendant. She was starting to settle down, although the butterflies in her stomach made it difficult. Miche was about to lean in when she stopped him and got up from her chair.
"I forgot to lock the door." She said naughtly.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Okay, I really wanted to turn this into a smut, but I am too chicken. 🙈🥺

Gabriel slowly learned they were the founders of the Order & told him the truth of his order's true intention from each Shadow Lord who too were being used by the Brotherhood of Light. Then when he finally reached the final Lord of Shadow, he learned about his wife's death & fell into dark despair.

3. Baki the Grappler - Yujiro Hanma
As most know Yujiro is the world's most unstoppable & cruelest warrior in the history of fighters. Not even the U.S. Military dares to go near him. Yes Yujiro the Orge has struck fear into many people, even military personnel of different countries. & he did it with no weapons & has turned the U.S. into his personal playground for death & battles.
But the most cruelest thing he's done was ripping the face of one of China's most respected Kaioh masters while facing him in battle, testing his worthiness. The reason Yujiro did this challenge was not to prove his worth but to show all of China & their leaders that they are worthless to him. & showed them all that he doesn't care about their hatred towards Japan noir their worthiness.
& he struck that fear into all who witnessed Ryu Kaioh getting defaced & brutally defeated. Yes this is one man who's definitely going to hell & is going to smile about it.
Because Satan himself would be pissing his buttflap in his sights in fear. While Yujiro fucks his succubus wife in front of his face knowing how little fucks he gives about his "sins."
Tumblr media
4. Primal - Sauropod Massacre
After being infected by the Zombie Virus. The infected sauropod becomes a mad rouge & slaughters it's own herd in a bloody rage & massacre.
It left no survivors, ripped them apart & destroyed many of the herds' eggs leaving nothing remaining...
Truly whatever zombie virus this was it drove this poor creature mad & didn't stop until everything wasn't breathing.
Luckily Spear & Fang were able to run it into a dormant volcano. Where the infected dinosaur burnt to ash.
Hopefully now the poor beast is at peace...
Tumblr media
5. Star Wars Rebels - Master Luminara's remains
In the search for Luminara to replace Kanan to be Ezra's new master. They soon learned too late that her remains were being used to lure any surviving Jedi out of hiding. So that any Sith Hunters like the Grand Inquisitor would slay them on the spot.
Sadly no one knows whatever happened to her corpse after they escaped. Or if the Empire even still has her.
Rest in peace Luminara wherever you are...
Tumblr media
6. Legend of Tarzan - Death of Clayton
While battling in the trees, Tarzan defeated Clayton by tangling him into the jungle vines. But during his blind rage he angrily swiped vine after vine, until one wrapped his neck. Tarzan tried his best to warn him, but in his rage Claton cuts the vine that he was holding on to.
Then after it broke they both plummet to the ground. Tarzan landed safely, Clayton however was hung from above by one of the vines wrapped around his neck after it snapped it straight out from the fall.
There truly are things worse than fate...
Tumblr media
7. RWBY - the Death of Adam Taurus
After weeks of stalking Blake & her group. Blake had no choice but to confront Adam for the last time with the help of Yang. The battle was harsh, but in the end they managed to out-think him by stabbing him from different sides. One in his chest & one in the back.
He then fell to his death over a huge waterfall after hitting his head over a ledge before plummeting into the water. Hopefully they've finally seen the last of Adam Taurus.
But let's also hope he doesn't pull a Cinder...
Tumblr media
8. TFP Beast Hunters - Predaking beats the scrap out of Ratchet
After using Ratchet to wipe out mankind. The Decepticons threw him into the frails of a vengeful Predaking. Predaking then beats & claws Ratchet, throwing him around like a rag-doll. Until he was ready to finish him off, luckily Ratchet convinced him to hear him out. & told Predaking the truth about what had happened to his Predacon army.
After he told Predaking that it was Megatron who ordered his race's extermination. He asks why he did so & Ratchet replys--
Ratchet: Being on the receiving end of your might. One theory springs to mind, Megatron fears you & any like you.
In his blind rage Predaking stormed his way to Megatron, wiping out anyone who stood in his way.
Which led to his own demise, but that is a story for another time...
Tumblr media
9. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure - Stealy Joe gets his ass beat by Jotaro
Now this slimy bastard got what he deserves. Not only did he try to humiliate & blackmail Jotaro into doing his bidding. This cocky motherfucker goes & threatens a random little girl out of the blue. If Jotaro didn't face him like a man & does what he says.
With him up to here with the man's assholeness, our boi Jotaro decided enough is enough & beats the ever loving shit out of this guy. & after punching him multiple times, he literally sends him flying into a wall & throws him his receipt.
Rest in Hell, Joe you worthless bastard!
Tumblr media
10. The Falcon Captain America & The Winter Soldier - Captain America U.S. Agent gets his arm broken.
John Walker the former Captain America was given a mantle he wasn't worthy of. Don't get me wrong as much as I had my doubts of him, I was willing to give him a benefit of a doubt. That is until he soiled Steve's good name by using his shield to kill a man in cold blood.
During his blind rage of vengeance, he chased down one of the Flag Smashers & constantly beats him over-&-over with the shield. & then kills him with a fatal blow to the chest area in front of tons of people.
After he murdered one of the perps, Falcon & Bucky tried to ask him to hand over the shield peacefully...
You can take a wild guess what Walker's answer was. He then attacked them with rage & ego, losing his shit. However that ego died as soon as Falcon & Buck breaks his arm to get the shield back. He was then discharged by the U.S. government & was relieved of his duties as Captain America.
Not only that but he then found his way into a dark path he may not be able to uncross.
But that part is another story for another time.
Either way he got dealt some shitty karma.

if we’re bound to be something, why not together? (chapter 11)
Read on AO3
First / Previous / Next
Notes:  Double update to cheer up a bit! This chapter turned out much longer than I thought it would be, almost double the size of other chapters. No content warning, just fluff! The song "Blueming" by IU, I think this fits this chapter a lot so if you want a song to listen while you read, it's that! Day 11: Voice Mail/Phone calls. @ladynoirjuly
After their last patrol, Ladybug sent Chat Noir a link through their communicators.
[Download this!!] She sent along with it, eagerly waiting for him.
[As my lady commands : D] He sent back almost immediately.
That talk had been a bit of an eye-opener to Marinette. She was getting to know Chat Noir more and more each day and she treasured every bit of information she got, jealousy holding it close to chest, hesitating to write it even in her diary. He was a quiet student during class, he had a friend whose name was definitely not Sallie (ugh), his father was distant, his mother and mother-figure were out of reach. He was lonely. All this information was worrying, just not as much as what she learned that night. At that moment, with him shaking in her arms, she made a decision.
Being there for him just as Ladybug wasn't going to cut it anymore.
This idea wasn't anything new, she had been playing with it in her mind for a while now. So when she sent him a chat room code through her communicator with other instructions and detransformed, she was fairly confident it would work. Picking up her phone, she smiles as she saw that there was already a message.
CN
My lady!! <3 <3 <3
LB
down, Chaton. :)
CN
I'm just mdlaomqnahsbsk
Is it okay, though? Talking like this?
LB
yeah, i've been testing this app with RR and it's fine, there's no way we'll leak our numbers or anything like that to each other. don't worry ;)
CN
This app is to warn each other about attacks and schedule meetings? Are you going to add RR to the chat?
LB
nah, i'll just make one for the 3 of us. this is one for us to talk and stuff, doesn't need to be about job things.
The "CN is typing…" kept it's place on the screen for enough time for her to start getting worried.
CN
You don't need to force yourself for my sake, bug. I don't want to bother you.
Marinette thought about making a joke. The situation, however, didn't seem right for it.
LB
you never bother me.
His response came almost immediately.
CN
You never texted me before.
LB
guess i'll have to learn what's the maximum amount of cat memes a person can humanely send per day
CN
Is that a challenge, my lady?
LB
;) ;) ;)
just remember to not blow up my phone, we have class
CN
I'll use my powers for good, don't worry : D
Marinette smiled and put down her phone, fixing up her bag for the next day on the chance (certainty) that she would wake up late the next day. When she picked the phone up again, there was a single text:

Thank you, bug. Good night.
He was absolutely unstoppable after that. Next morning, as she was brushing her teeth, her cell phone pinged with the telling sound from the app and she smiled as she opened the app on her phone.

Good morning <3 <3 <3
Are you in class already?
Marinette froze in place, eyes snapping to the clock. There was only ten minutes before the class started. She bolted, barely noticing if she had on the right shoes or if her jacket matched her pants. So much for being an aspiring designer. Marinette blurred past the kitchen, taking a croissant and a banana and cramming them into her mouth as she ran. She made it to the classroom in the middle of the roll call, not even stopping by the lockers.
“Thanks for joining us, Marinette.” Ms. Bustier said dryly. “Please take a seat.”
“Thank you, ma’am.” She answered, out of breath. Sitting down, she took out her tablet and noticed another message making her phone screen glow.
Chat-terbox
Is everything okay?

Nooooooooo
A giggle escaped her mouth.
"Marinette?" Ms. Bustier raised an eyebrow. "Something you want to share with the class?"
"N-no, ma'am." She answered, face heating up. Marinette quietly put her phone away, ignoring Alya's prying eyes.
She only opened the app again during the break between classes, moving away from a curious Alya to hang by Kim and Alíx.
Chat-terbox
I'll assume you're actually paying attention to class, which is great. You probably need it to make up all those crazy plans ;)
SM beaten by ninth grade physics
Hey, boo, did you see this one SM identity theory video making rounds on the internet?
Marinette frowned.

Chat-terbox
Oh, it's not on the Ladyblog, here
She opened the video as quickly as she could before Ms. Bustier came back, only from the sound to make Kim and Alíx burst out into laughter.

Sighing deeply, she clicked on the document. He would never shut up if she didn't. It read as:
l would like to offer my sincerest According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way a bee should be able to fly. Its wings are too small to get its fat little body off the ground. The bee, of course, flies anyway because bees don't care what humans think is impossible…
She clicked back

Boo, noooooooo
After that, Marinette didn’t open the app again no matter how much her phone pinged. She wasn’t mad, not really, just a bit annoyed. Before lunch ended, she would read and answer. But now, she was stuck watching Alya and Nino play Super Penguino and make moon eyes at each other. Adrien wasn’t allowed to join them, as much as he begged his father, and she was feeling pretty bummed about that. She poked around her chicken pasta when she heard her phone playing a familiar song.
kore nani kore nani korenanikorenanikorenanikorenani-
Chat Noir!
"Is everything okay?" Marinette asked as soon as she picked up the phone. Alya and Nino, noticing her worried tone, paused their game to look at her.
"You picked up!" Chat Noir said, cheery. "I thought you blocked me."
She pinched the bridge of her nose. "Is there actually something wrong? I'll hang up "
"No, wait!" He yelped. "There's nothing wrong, I just wanted to talk. Are you busy?"
Marinette looked over at Nino and Alya, who were still watching her expectantly. She smiles reassuringly and waved them away, furtively signaling to Alya that it was Chat Noir on the phone. Her friend nodded and bumped her shoulder on Nino's.
"C'mon, babe, let Marinette talk to her 'friend' by herself." Alya said, leering.
"Why did you say it like that?" Nino asked, confused. Then, his eyes lit up. "Is it Adrien? Tell him I said hi!"
"No!" Marinette shouted, gaining weird stares from the other patrons.
"No, you aren't busy?" Chat Noir asked on the phone.
"No, it's not Adrien, or no, you won't tell him I said hi?" Nino asked.
"It's another friend." She said hurriedly before focusing on the phone. "I can talk now, not that busy."
"If you're with your friends, it's okay." He said, rather meekly for her chaton.
"I'm just third-wheeling." Marinette said as Alya and Nino began another round of Super Penguins. "Why did you call? Aren't you having lunch now?"
Chat Noir chuckled humorlessly. "Yeah, I'm having lunch at home and I'm all alone, so I thought I could give you a call. Is that too much?"
"No, it's fine." She reassured. "Why are you alone? What about your siblings?"
"What siblings?" He asked, genuinely confused.
"Uh… the siblings I assumed you had for some reason." She said awkwardly, noticing how out there she sounded the more she spoke.
"Really? You thought I had siblings? Why?"
"Because you're just like an annoying little brother." She said teasingly, a complete lie.
Chat Noir struck her as a mischievous, but supportive older brother. The kind that sneaked you treats after midnight and comforted you after failing a math test. Not like she could tell him that, though. If he was a little brother, it would be to a stressed older sister that he admired a lot and that found him reliable in return. She dreamed about meeting them sometimes and now it seemed that they would truly stay dreams forever.
"I would like an older brother or sister." He sighed longingly. "The closest I have is my cousin, but he lives in another country."
"Oh, sorry."
"No, it's better this way, we would kill each other if we lived together. Everyday I would have to check for poison in my breakfast."
"A true sibling dynamic."
"Yep."
"Hey, why aren't you having lunch with your friends then?" With Sallie, she wanted to tease, but held back for fear of sounding, as Tikki said, bitter.
"My father would rather I have lunch at home." He said vaguely. "My friends did invite me to go with them to a café, but my father didn't like the idea. He only likes one of them, the rest he says are bad influences."
"Let me guess, the one he likes is Sallie?"
"I can hear you rolling your eyes, but yes."
"Well, if you ever get lonely at lunch, you can call me." Marinette said honestly. "I don't mind it."
"Thank you." Chat Noir said softly.
They spent the rest of lunch talking on the phone, even sending pictures of their food to each other (Chat's limp salad made her take a bunch of mental notes to take him some pastries next patrol). On the way to school, as she walked to the classroom, they kept talking. She could hear Chat getting on a vehicle (a bus?) and when he got to school, she was disappointed he had to hang up. After Marinette clicked the end call button, the first thing she noticed when she looked up was Alya's smug face and Nino's confused one.
"Wow, does my bro have some competition, dude?" Nino said. "You spent the entire break talking."
"What? No, that was just a friend!"
"Yeah, a friend." Alya sing-songed, making her face heat up.
"Yeah." Marinette said firmly. "There's no competition for anything."
"Who's competing?" A sweet voice asked from behind her and she jumped.
"Adrien!" She shouted, scrambling. "N-nothing hehe."
"Dude!" Nino smiled. "How was your lunch?"
Adrien smiled, brightly. "The best I've ever had."
Marinette felt inclined to agree.

I was talking with my friends about the knew champion, though we all have some mixed opinions the general consensus was we're pretty excited. One thing lead to another in our rambling and I mentioned that why would she make a doll with the royal crest? Was it for her or maybe a child? It was a sad theory but even in the trailer Isolde and Viego are both looking at her stomach. Eitherway struck with inspiration I wrote a fanfic around this idea.
Tumblr media
⚠️So major warning!⚠️ This features pregnancy and the death of the carrying mother. Don't read if these are sensitive topics for you!
◇~~~~~~~~~~~~~◇
Viego sat at the head of a long table, advisors, treasurers and practically everyone else with any authority in the kingdom sat along the sides. They all debated back and forth about what to do next, something about the financial situation of the kingdom, but their king couldn't bother to listen, instead, he sat there with his head resting upon his hand. He dreamt of his queen, his lover, and the only girl who could seem to hold his attention, Isolde. She had been feeling sick lately, was she going to be okay while he was away? How dare this meeting keep him from more important matters, he thought.
"Your highness." A voice snapped him back to what was happening around him, along with a tap on his shoulder. Kallista, his trusted General was who the hand belonged to, she stood behind him like a shadow whenever his kingly duties were to be fulfilled, being a far larger help than Viego ever was. "What is it you want to do?"
"Whatever you all can come to agree on. It matters not to me." Viego half-heartedly replied.
"You are the king. And this is your kingdom. It does matter to you." The treasurer replied, barely holding back his anger. Luckily however someone else spoke up suggesting a compromise of their plans, taking the heat off Viego for the time being. Finally, after what felt like an excruciatingly long time, the meeting was over, the king being the first to stand and leave.
Although Kallista followed at first for his protection, he waved her off, requesting to be alone or for better phrasing, alone with his love. She did just that, having other duties she could attend to with the time. Now alone he entered his chambers, he couldn't help but smile at the sight of Isolde. She sat at the end of the bed seeming to be waiting for him, she looked happy, though nervousness filled the cracks in her smile. "Viego… there is something that I need to tell you."
His smile morphed to concern as he shut the door behind him, moving to sit by her side, "what is it my stars?"
She took a long pause and a deep breath, then spoke, turning to look Viego in the eyes. "We're going to have a child." A warm smile grew on her face, clearly happy about the announcement.
Viego seemed just as happy, leaning over to wrap his arms around her, kissing her on the neck. "Finally someone to love just as much as you." He whispered in her ear. Finally leaning away getting his joy contained he asked a question. "How can you be sure?"
"All the signs were there. So I went for testing. All the best they could offer. Every single one said yes. I should have told you sooner but I wanted to be sure."
"The surprise was well worth the wait." He said, unable to stop himself from kissing his love again.
"I'm sure she'll be strong and kind. Just like you." Isolde ran her fingers through Viego's long hair, hoping to see his face better.
"She?" He raised his brow.
"Yes. Many of the tests pointed to a girl."
"That's lovely. I'm sure she'll be just as beautiful as you are." Isolde could only reply with a light-hearted chuckle at the complaint, something she received from Viego daily.
"I can't wait to meet her." She smiled looking down at her stomach, still yet to show any sign of a child.
"She'll have a kingdom when we do." He said looking as well. Despite the arrogance he knew he was not fit to rule, he never was. This was his brother's throne, cast upon him unexpectedly. He didn't know what to do. So he could only hope to raise their daughter to be better. The lovers spent the rest of the night talking about their future, and the future of their child. This had to be the second happiest day of their lives, only beat by the night of their wedding, and just as they did then, the two fell asleep in each other's arms.
Time passed, though the king, holding little concern for those of his kingdom made no effort to announce the news to the kingdom, word had gone around inside the castle of the Queen's expectancy. Though little of them could be excited with the kingdom's trouble still being front and center, this only serving to distract the king more. Isolde remained blissfully unaware of these issues while Viego actively ignored them. Mutters went around of how this problem might have been avoided if the king had chosen to marry another royalty as they advised, the kingdoms being able to partner and help each other. But his heart was set on the peasant lady he had fallen for at first sight, and no one could deter him.
Now Isolde sat in her workshop, a small room filled with her many supplies from her days as a seamstress. A hobby she had kept even when ascending upon the throne. It was obvious to anyone close to her she loved her days before belonging to the kingdom, often dressing in surprisingly casual clothes when not among the public. Simple dresses with aprons atop them. All sewn herself. Even Viego couldn't convince her to ease up on this part of herself. Despite having more than enough resources and power, Isolde sat alone in her workshop sewing small garments for her soon to be daughter. Though it was possible the test could be wrong, such a thought never even passed her by. Blinded by the idea of raising a princess with the world ahead of her. Never having to work long tiring nights as she had done before her new life.
A candlelit up the simple room, as a music box slowly turned on the desk as music, the same she had received as a wedding gift, and treasured since that day. Isolde and Viego dancing to its tune on late nights, twirling endlessly. Having now made enough clothes to last the first year of the child's life at all stages, Isolde had to start making other things for her to fill her excitement. Laying on the table in front of her was a doll. Cute as she could possibly make it. The spitting image of everything Isolde thought of a princess, something she struggled to see herself in. She was almost done, large bright blue yarn hair filling her head, a frilly dress adorning her body, and button eyes smiling towards the sky. She was just finishing the last touches, sewing to it the ribbon brooch she wore with many of her formal outfits. It carried with it the crest of the royal family, a sign that she would be part of theirs. Viego entered the room just as the music came to a slow, the door creaking open to announce him.
"Hard at work my love?" He asked, laying his hands over her shoulder to look at what she could be making now.
"Yes. I just want everything to be perfect when she's here." Isolde smiles, brushing his hands off and standing. Bringing the doll across the room to sit on the pile of clothes she had made.
"You shouldn't have to work so hard, let others do the work for you."
"I know, I know. But I enjoy this. Really. This is more than I could have ever asked for." Isolde commented, looking over the collection of colorful fabrics she had access to.
"Just don't tire yourself," Viego advised, stepping behind her once more resting his head on against hers, one hand resting on her stomach, which had now formed a small bump to it. "Come. Rest with me. You can return here another day."
"Mmh." She nodded in agreement, resting her hand atop Viego's, they were tired and worn from her grip on the needles and scissors she had worked with all day. She blew out the candle and left the dark room by the side of her beloved.
However the day she returned to her workshop didn't come. Instead collecting dust along the shelves of clothing and the doll of the little princess. The kingdom had enough of the king who was casting their land into ruin, attempting to strike him down, they failed, taking Isolde instead. Though the dagger only grazed her arm, the strong poison acted quick. She wasn't quite dead. Not yet. Instead in a state of lasting sleep. This was a twisted hell for Viego, watching his queen's life drain day by day, as he could do nothing about it. He never left her side but commanded everyone who could to search for a cure. He was advised against this, begged to stop as every last resource of the kingdom went into saving her. He didn't care. What was the point of having a kingdom if his queen couldn't rule it by his side? If his daughter wouldn't be here to see it.
Everything he could do wasn't enough though. Isolde silently passed one night, Viego by her side. He couldn't accept this. Never. He had seen magic before. Even rumors of immortality, something he remembers hearing his uncle ran to pursue. He knew there was still a chance. He grew more hateful by the day, locking himself away with his wife's body.
Finally, Kallista, his most trusted General had arrived back from her searches. The torment of the situation had made the king come to despise her, the one who deflected the attack to his stars. He would have killed her on sight if not for her news. An island of blessed water, able to heal the queen. Though when she heard the news of the queen's fate she resisted helping, she gave in. Viego carefully lifting Isolde's body, he carried her to the docks, sailing off to their last hope. His last hope for his family and the last hope for Isolde's hard work.
The rest of the kingdom joined the workshop in collecting dust after that.

Crossed Oceans of Time
Tumblr media
Pairing: Bucky x reader
Summary: Y/n always thought her hope was lost till an unexpected call from an old friend has her traveling across time to save the man she thought was once lost in an ocean of time.
Warnings: angst, fluffy fluff, cursing, hopelessness (idk why I make the reader so depressed)
Word Count: 4122
A/N: This is written for @sweeterthanthis Quote Me On It 6k Challenge. The prompt I chose was “I have crossed oceans of time to find you.” -Dracula. This story takes place during the events of End Game. I have incorporated the quote into the story. It will be bolded AND italicized. All mistakes are mine.
Enjoy!
Everything I had seen had been a blur up to this point. My life flashed by so quick I never had a chance to process it all. Originally born in 1922, I never believed I would be able to see the day when technology would thrive. Here I am in 2023, 101 years later seeing the miracle of technology.
I am a super soldier. One of the first experiments before Steve Rogers, aka Captain America. I volunteered myself to Dr. Erskine's experimentation, so he could develop a better, more safe serum.
I fought by Rogers' side in many battles, including the one that would take his best friend. There is something you do not know though, of me and Sergeant Barnes.
I had fallen for him. Not just a usual school girl crush, no. It was full blown love. Like my body had been struck by lightning the moment I laid eyes on him.
I could sit and talk for hours about Bucky, and how much he meant to me, but that would be pointless. Bucky was gone and yet I couldn't move on. Something was keeping my heart from finding love again.
Steve and I fought one last time together to defeat Red Skull. We thought it was the end for us, that we would be with Bucky again, but fate is a cruel mother thing. Oddly enough, the serum in our veins stopped our bodies from dying. It preserved us and helped us stay alive.
When I woke up, all I remembered was crashing the ship. I had no recollection of anything else after. That's when we found out we were in the year 2012. For 70 years we were on ice. Poor Steve was heartbroken about Peggy, and I couldn't help but wish I was with Bucky.
Time flew by like it was nothing, and all I felt I did was stand still and watch it go by. Steve and I had parted ways after we got back. I was hired to work for S.H.I.E.L.D. which I didn’t mind till in 2014 it all came crashing down. Almost quite literally. S.H.I.E.L.D. had HYDRA growing right under its nose. I was again left alone with nothing but a shattered heart.
Nick Fury tried to help me get back onto my feet but I wanted nothing to do with him, or anyone anymore. I was too heartbroken to even think about what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. I really just wanted my Bucky back. That’s all I could ever ask of the world.
Five years ago, something happened. I felt like my life had fallen apart again. All the friends I had attempted to make, all disappeared. I wasn’t the only one who lost people they loved and cared for. I finally felt maybe other people out there were feeling the same way I did.
Here in 2023, I have been without the love of my life for almost 80 years. I kept asking why I got to live while he was taken from the world so soon. I never got the answer to that rhetorical question, asked to no one in particular. That was till I got a peculiar call from an unknown number. I answered it hoping it would be the reaper I hoped to be greeted by to take me to the love of my life.
“Y/n?” It was a voice I hadn’t heard in almost a decade. One I thought I’d probably never hear again either.
“Steve.” I sounded cheery for once since I had been out of the ice.
“Hey. How are you doing? I know it’s been years since we talked, but I wanted to see if you wanted to go for a drive? Just you and me.” He asked, and I could tell he was smiling some on the other end.
“That sounds lovely, Steve. I’ve been hanging in there. Since S.H.I.E.L.D. and the whole HYDRA thing, I’ve just been laying low.”
“Where are you living now?” Steve queried.
“I’m living in Brooklyn actually. In my old neighborhood.
“You used to live in Brooklyn before the war?”
“Yep. I actually lived above the antique shop. You know the one.”
“Yeah. I didn’t know we lived so close, yet we never met you till Erskine introduced us.”
“Yeah. Maybe then I wouldn’t feel the way I do now…” I sounded melancholy.
“I’m not too far from where you are. Meet where the antique shop used to be. We can talk more then, I have something I think you would love to hear.”
“Okay. I’ll meet you there.” I said, and hung up quickly. I knew there was nothing he could have told me that would make me jump for joy. He couldn’t say anything that would make my smile come back. It was gone, and faded with time.
I met him where that antique shop used to be, and I could almost picture it all. The cobblestone streets, the kids playing baseball, the world used to be a different place back then. It’s not like it was anymore, and I wish that it kind of was.
“Hey.” Steve smiled, walking up to me.
“Hi.” I gave a small smile, but he could tell I had sadness written all over my face.
“What’s wrong?” Concern spread across his face.
“Nothing. This is just how I smile now.”
“Whoever took away your beautiful, contagious smile is going to pay.”
“Time took my smile away.”
“”Come on. I want to talk to you about something.” His smile grew wider as he led me to his car.
He opened the door for me, and I climbed in. I buckled up as he climbed into the driver’s seat. We headed out of the city, down the countryside. The scenery was beautiful, but I still couldn’t bring myself to start a conversation.
“Hey, are you sure you’re okay?”
“I’m fine. I have been for 11 years. What’s 40 more gonna do right?” I gave an extremely sad smile.
“Is this about Bucky?”
“There were so many times in my life where we could have met. Maybe just a year longer with him, and I would be able to move on, or maybe not. I was in love with him, Steve. The way I felt the night we first met, it was like everything in my life finally made sense. I felt like I had a purpose.”
“He’s actually the reason I wanted to talk to you.”
“What do you mean?”
“He was alive. I need your help getting him back.”
“What do you mean? That’s impossible. We both watched him die.”
“Remember when all those men were captured from the 107th, including Bucky, back in ‘43?”
“Yeah, and we went to rescue them.”
“Bucky was experimented on by Armin Zola. Turned into a super soldier himself.”
“Okay and?”
“Whatever Zola did to him, it helped him survive the fall.”
“So what I’m understanding is, you knew he was alive this entire time, and you’re just now telling me about it?”
“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you sooner, but I need your help getting him back now.”
“Okay. You keep saying that, but if he is alive, why would we need to get him back?”
“Remember 5 years ago when half the earth’s population just vanished?”
“Yeah?”
“Bucky was part of that half.”
“And you think we can get him back?”
“I think we can bring back all the life lost 5 years ago. It requires us going back in time though.”
“Time travel? You’re promising time travel in a time where we thought flying cars were going to be a thing.”
“It’s possible though. We’ve tested it, and everything is up and working. We have all the dates in order, we just need the man power.”
“Alright, if it means bringing Bucky back, I’ll do it.”
“Thank you.”
Steve drove us to a huge building practically in the middle of nowhere. There I was greeted by a group of people, one of which I recognized from a brief meeting years ago. The others I didn’t know. I mean one man looked oddly familiar, but I could quite put my finger on where I had seen him before.
“Everyone, this is Y/n. She is an old friend of mine.” Steve introduced me.
“I may be old, but I sure don’t feel like it.”
“Join the club.” Steve chuckled.
“I’m Natasha. We met briefly in D.C. a few years back.” The woman I had recognized approached.
“Yes, I remember you. It’s nice to officially meet you on slightly good terms. While not being utterly terrified by a man with a metal arm.” I smiled slightly, trying to imagine how it would feel to see Bucky once more.
“So how do you two know each other?” The man that I swore looked familiar, spoke up.
“Steve and I fought together during the war.”
“Does that mean she also knew Barnes?” The man questioned.
“Yes. She did. In fact they were together for two years before HYDRA took him.”
“How does he know about Bucky?” I asked, growing concerned.
“It’s a long story.”
“I’m Tony Stark by the way.” The man spoke up, and everything was now coming together.
“I knew you looked familiar to me somehow. You look just like your father.”
“Yeah, well, join the club with everyone who says that.” Tony sounded irritated.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to upset you.”
“Y/n, it’s alright.” Steve spoke up before Tony could say anything.
He could probably tell I was freaking out. My goal was to help, not make things worse. I could tell by just opening my mouth, I was doing just that. Steve started to rub my back to calm me down.
“Is everything okay?” Natasha asked.
“She’s been through a lot. She didn’t even know Bucky was alive until a couple hours ago.” Steve replied.
“For so long I wished that something would happen so I could be back in his arms again. Now, I have a chance to see him again, and not in the afterlife. He is the man of my dreams, the love of my life. I have never felt this way about anyone before, and the fact that I have tried to move on, but couldn't just shows that I truly did love him.”
“Does she know about him?” Tony asked.
“Not about that. She doesn’t need to know.” Steve stated sternly.
“Know about what? Steve? What aren’t you telling me?”
“Stark, I agree with Steve. If she knew about him, her opinion of him may change.” Natasha interjected.
“She deserves to know the man she loved then will not be the man she is getting back.”
“What are you all going on about?”
“Barnes was the man with the metal arm you spoke of.” Tony blurted out.
“You’re wrong. Bucky would never hurt anyone. He was someone who put others before himself. He would never kill anyone.”
Steve just gave an angry look to Tony. I didn’t know who to believe. Natasha just gave me an apologetic look. I couldn’t read anyone, they all seemed to look angry or apologetic, and I didn;t know who to believe.
“Maybe the Barnes you knew wouldn’t, but over 70+ years, people change.” Tony stated before walking inside.
“Steve? Was Bucky really the man with the metal arm? If he was, I want to know. It won’t change how I feel. I just need to know, so I can help him when he comes back.”
“Yes. He was what the world knew as the Winter Soldier. He isn;t like that anymore. I promise, but he is broken and traumatized from what HYDRA did to him.”
“Understandable. Now let’s go get him and everyone else back.” I smiled, and walked inside. I didn’t have to fake one anymore. I was just happy that I finally had the chance to see Bucky again. That maybe seeing each other again could mend our souls a little bit.
Steve led me to a room where he told me to suit up. I threw on the suit laid out for me, and met the others on the main level. Steve handed me two little vials which he told me would help take me where I needed to be. He told me I was to stay with him to make sure nothing happened to me. I was perfectly okay with that.
We were all ready to find these stones. Steve showed me a picture of the stones him, Tony, Scott, and I were to be getting. I just wanted to get this over with, to be with Bucky once more. I have waited a long time for this moment, and I just couldn’t wait any longer.
“Everyone ready?” Bruce asked.
“See you guys in a minute.” Natasha smiled.
We all shrunk down, and our groups went separate ways. I made sure to not lose sight of Steve as we landed in our desired time. We all started walking the tattered streets of New York City, and I knew where we had landed.
“Banner, you find the time stone, Stark and Lang, you two get the tesseract. I’ll get the scepter.” Steve directed.
“What about me?” I asked, curious what my task would be.
“You are staying right here. We’ll all meet right back here once we have secured our items.”
“Why am I here then if you don’t need me?”
“In case things go south.”
I roll my eyes, “fine. I’ll stay here.”
“Thank you.”
They all walk off, and I stay put where they told me to. I listen to them talking on comms to each other. They were pretty entertaining if I was being honest. That was until they started saying they lost the tesseract. Things looked hopeless now.
“What are we gonna do now? The tesseract is gone, and we don’t have any more of the capsules.” Scott paced.
“I have an extra capsule that will get me where I want to be. Please let me do this Steve?”
“Fine. I think I have an idea where you might be going. Just be careful okay?” He hands me something, “put it in here when you grab it.”
“I will. I promise I’ll be careful. I’ll see you guys when I have aquired the tesseract.” I smile.
I plug in the time and date that I wanted, and shrunk down traveling back to January 1945. The day Steve and I put the plane in the water. I remember seeing Red Skull holding it that day, right before he disappeared actually. Maybe that’s what Steve meant by ‘be careful’.
I headed straight to the hanger, and climbed inside. I hid until I knew it was safe to come out. Which meant waiting till Red Skull took off. I waited for Steve, and I to start fighting Red Skull. I came out and prepared to grab the tesseract. I had the special case Steve handed me before I left.
When Red Skull disappeared, and Steve and I went to man the ship, I grabbed the tesseract. I plugged in the date to head back, and shrunk down again, heading back to the correct timeline. I arrived as everyone else returned as well. I looked around to make sure everyone was there, but one person was missing.
“Clint, where’s Nat?” Bruce asked, looking at Clint.
“Barton, where is she?” Tony asked, being more stern.
“She’s gone...it should have been me.” He sounded so sad. I felt for him. I knew how it felt to lose someone I cared so much about.
They all gathered by the water mourning Natasha’s sacrifice. I let them have their moment. It wasn’t my place to be with them while they grieved. It just didn’t seem right, or fair to them. I sat in the lab waiting for them to come back, and assemble the gauntlet.
Steve walked in and sat next to me, “how did it go?”
“It went well. It was weird seeing Red Skull and you, and me. I think I managed well though. Why did you give me an extra capsule?”
“I figured you would go and help us, then I’d let you go and be with Bucky. Get the time you lost back.”
“That makes no sense if I lose him in the end anyways.”
“Maybe part of me hoped you would change his fate. That way you never lost him. You would never have to know what it was like to lose him.”
“That’s really sweet of you Steve, but I don’t think that would be right. For me or him.”
“I understand. I just want you to know that your pain hasn’t gone unnoticed.”
“I’m glad it hasn’t, but I really wish you knew how much I needed you too. I didn’t just miss Bucky, you were my friend too.”
“I know, but you haven’t been the same since you thought he died. You have been more closed off, you don’t smile, or laugh like you used to. I just want you to be happy again. I want to see that beautiful smile, and hear your contagious laugh once more.”
“You will again one day. Right now though, you need to help the others make this gauntlet.” I gave a half smile before moving out of the way so the others could do their job.
I sat outside with my eyes closed. Just waiting for someone to walk up to me and make sure I was okay. The light from the sun was dimmed like a shadow moved in front of me. I smiled before opening my eyes, thinking that Steve, or maybe Bucky, was standing in front of me. When I looked, I saw something that looked like a meteor heading right for the building.
I tried to run inside, but it was too late. The ball, or cannon, or whatever had already hit the building. I wiggle my way out from under the debris, but I could tell I had a pretty severe wound on my abdomen. I tried to call out to someone, but I got no response. I hoped that everyone was alright.
I finally was able to stand up, and walked outside. There I saw Thor standing, and watching someone. I walked over to him, putting pressure on my side to make sure I stopped the bleeding. That’s when I saw Steve walking up to him too.
“What’s he doing?” Steve asked, looking where Thor was looking.
“He’s just sitting there.” Thor responded. “He doesn’t have the gauntlet right?”
“Not that I can see.”
“Let’s keep it that way.” Steve said, walking over to me.
“Who is that guy?” I asked, looking confused.
“That’s Thanos. He’s the reason half the earth’s population disappeared 5 years ago.”
“Did he figure out what we were planning?”
“It’s not the same Thanos. The one from our time, Thor killed him.” Steve said, walking over to him.
“I used to think that destroying half the planet's life would be good enough, but the other half that stuck around seems to be ungrateful. Looks like I may have to destroy this world, and create a new one, one that will be grateful for the world I have provided.”
That’s when Thor charged at Thanos, and the fight began. Tried to fight as much as I could, but I was losing more and more blood every second. I ran at him, thinking he was going to hurt Steve, but he stopped me and threw me against some rubble. I attempted to get up, but the pain was too much to fight anymore.
I watched as Steve prepared to fight by himself. I wish I had the strength to stand up and fight next to him. I just couldn’t bear the pain anymore. That’s when I heard a voice over comms that sounded kind of familiar.
“Cap, can you read me. On your left.” The voice said, and these vortex-like things opened up, and out walked three people.
Steve turned to me, and saw that I was on the ground. He reached his hand out to me, and I took it, standing up. He smiled at me, and prepared to fight. That’s when armies of people walked through these vortexes. I stayed close to Steve, finding comfort in the one person I knew fairly well.
“You okay?” He asked.
“I’ll be okay. I just want this douchebag dead. He took Bucky away, and now he wants to destroy the entirety of planet earth. He deserves what’s coming to him.”
Steve smiled, “you really haven’t changed a bit. More depressed than what I remember, but your attitude is still the same.” He chuckled lightly.
I giggled, and prepared to fight to the end. I didn’t care if I died, I just wanted Steve and Bucky to live. Steve stood at the front of the army he was leading, perhaps into our last battle. I was ready to do anything. I had found my hidden strength to keep fighting till I physically couldn’t keep fighting anymore. That was quicker to come than I thought. I knew I was losing a lot of blood, but I didn’t know how quickly. Turns out when Thanos threw makeup against the rubble, I created an even bigger wound.
Only a few minutes into the now fair fight, I started to get really dizzy. I tried to grab a hold of someone before I fell, but there was no one around me. I hit the ground and I was out for the count.
~*~
I don’t know how long I had been out for, or if I was still even alive. To my surprise, and Steve’s happiness, I was.
“Hey there sweetheart.” Steve smiled, gripping my hand tightly.
“Did we win?” Of course that would be my first question. It was the first question I asked when we came out of the ice.
He chuckled, but his look turned sad, “we won, but we lost at the same time.”
“What do you mean? Did he snap them away again?” My heart was pounding in my chest. The fear painted across my face.
“No. Everyone who disappeared is back, but Tony...he snapped Thanos and his army away, but he didn’t make it.” Steve gave me an extremely sad look.
I squeezed his hand, not even paying attention to the fact someone had just walked into the room. I didn’t even notice the person till Steve looked over to them, and got up. I couldn’t quite tell who it was because where they were standing was kind of dark. That and my eyes were fully adjusted yet, but I could tell they were tall and well built, they also had semi-long hair.
“Go on. She’s been waiting.” Steve spoke up, seeing me stare at them.
The person came closer, and I was met with their mesmerizing blue eyes. I smiled at them as they came over to sit down. He seemed closed off, or just really shy. I couldn’t quite get a read on him for whatever reason.
“Hey.” He gave a very small smile, almost shy.
“Hey.” I smile more.
“I’ve missed that smile.” Steve spoke up.
I giggled, “well it’s thanks to you that I feel like I can be happy again.”
The man sitting next to me just looked down. I put my hand out for him to take. He grabbed it very gently. It was colder than I thought it would be. I looked down, and saw a metal hand. He tried to pull away, but I gripped his hand tight.
“You’re not scared?” He asked.
“Because I have crossed oceans of time to find you.” I smile wide, bringing his hand to my lips, kissing it gently.
Steve smiled, “you knew it was him the whole time didn’t you?”
“Of course. Those eyes are unforgettable, and his voice is unmistakable.” I felt the hand around mine tighten, and his smile got bigger.
“I’ve missed you doll. I’ve missed you so much.” Bucky spoke.
“I missed you too. I never thought that I would ever see you again.”
We stared lovingly at each other for a while. Enjoying just taking in the fact that he was back into my life. That I had him back. That the best thing that ever happened to me was back. It was the best feeling in the world, one that I thought I would never be able to feel again. I finally felt like my heart had been put back together, and Bucky held the mold in his hands.

Yandere! Giorno with a stand-user s/o that tries to escape
You were tired, so very tired. Your body felt as if it was going to give out at any moment now. You were barely able to pay attention to the young man that was standing in front of you, your mind fading in and out of consciousness. The situation you were currently in was dire and you were absolutely overwhelmed. The blond-haired man in front of you seemed to notice your stressed-out state because his brows slightly furrowed as his face showed clear concern for you as he softly grasped your right hand.
“Is something wrong caro/cara? You look unwell”, his voice carried a hint of worry as he raised your hand a bit further up while moving his head in the opposite direction, his mouth soon making contact with the skin of your hand as he placed gentle kisses on the back of it. You felt your insides squirm uncomfortably as he trailed his lips lower, peppering kisses all over it before coming to a stop at your ring finger. He then looked up to stare directly into your eyes, a look on his face one could only describe as love-struck, as he then leaned down once again to place a final kiss on the golden ring adorning your finger. Giorno, your captor, closed his eyes and let out a hum in contempt before slowly letting go of your hand once again, taking back his own hand that carried the same ring as yours. As you let your hand fall down to your side once again, it felt heavier than ever, the figurative weight of the ring almost pulling you down and on your knees. You felt a knot form in your stomach as the reality of what the ring really implied settled in once again.
“Are you feeling better now y/n? It´s not good to be this stressed out on the happiest day of your life”. After a second of silence he then added;
“OUR life. After today we will never be apart again, I promise you.”
Yes, you knew how true his statement was, after all Giorno wasn´t one to make empty promises, he was always serious about what he said.
Just a few months ago, a blond-haired stranger promised you he would do anything to ensure your safety. Now, you were in the possessive arms of your “fiancé”, almost getting crushed from the sheer force of his protectiveness. You spent most of your days in a luxurious golden cage that he liked to call your home. You were never alone here, even when Giorno had to leave because of his work. Even though he never directly told you, you knew that there were guards loyal to him, hiding in the shadows. And though you weren´t ever able to see them, you could always feel their gazes on you, silently watching you from a distance. To say it was unnerving was an understatement. And of course, you weren´t allowed to leave. Oh, how desperately you wanted to leave! Giorno had mercilessly ripped you from your previous life, from your friends and family and you wanted to go back to the people you loved so dearly. But there was no reasoning with Giorno, he insisted that he took you in to protect you and to care for you, that he would never wish any harm onto you. And that he loved you. Oh, how often he had repeated these three simple words.
“I love you.”, he had whispered before knocking you out at the front door of your home.
“I love you.”, he had said before forcefully stealing your first kiss from you.
“I love you.”, he had proclaimed before going down on one knee and proposing to you.
You had had no chance to refuse in any of these scenarios, only being able to stare at him in fear as you stood motionlessly. In all of these moments, all you wanted to do was disappear from his sight and flee, never going back to him. How you wished that he had never noticed you that one fateful day when you grabbed a scoop of ice cream from your favorite parlor. You yearned for your freedom and the outside world but he seemed intent to keep you locked up. And as the day of your supposed wedding had grown closer and closer, you too had grown more and more desperate to escape. And one day when Giorno was off to work again, something truly bizarre had happened to you.
As you were blankly staring into the bathroom mirror, tears running down your face as you contemplated your hopeless situation, you suddenly heard a high-pitched screech. Whipping your head around, you weren´t able to see the source of the noise until you heard light scratching noises from the left shelf. Carefully making your way over there, you wondered what could possibly be in there. After all it should be impossible for anyone to get in here! Standing in front of the shelf you were surprised to see what looked like…. a bat? Only it was bigger by a good amount and the fur on it´s belly was littered with little heart symbols. Okay so that was definitely not normal. What was going on here? You were tempted to take a step back but as soon as you slightly moved your feet the bat looked down and promptly fluttered it´s wings before taking flight and… oh god it was heading towards you! What were you supposed to do here?? But while you were wondering about what to do, the bat flew right at you and landed on your shoulder as it lightly started to nuzzle your face. It´s soft fur slightly tickling you, you were once again thrown for a loop as it´s shape started to rapidly shift. It´s wings stretched out and grew longer while it´s head also changed size. It had happened so fast that it took you a moment to realize that it seemed like the strange bat-like creature had wrapped itself around you like a sort of cloak. But your earlier surprise couldn´t possibly compare to the pure shock you felt when you looked back into the mirror to see…nothing. Absolutely nothing. You were able to see the wall behind you and the shelf but it was as if you had completely disappeared, as if you were…. completely………invisible. Invisible?! Was that true?! If that truly was the case then could you possibly use this to your advantage to finally escape this cage you were in and go back home? You couldn´t help your excitement at the prospect that you started to jump up and down only to notice that all of your jumping hadn´t caused any kind of sound to appear. Walking back and forth you noticed that all of your steps were completely muted. It was as if you were a ghost of some kind. Wanting to test out this new strange “ability” of yours further, you headed out of the bathroom, noticing the little sound the handle made as you pressed it down, the door opening with a little screech. Huh. So only your steps seemed to be silent, all other sounds still occurred as they normally should. That was good to know. As you ventured out further, you decided to leave your room and headed into the hallway. Looking around, you saw one of the many maids that worked here in the mansion sweeping the floor while whistling a cheery tune. It aggravated you how these people could just carry on with their normal life and pretend nothing was wrong when they all knew that you were trapped here without your consent. They knew how you suffered, how often you had sleepless nights as you cried into your pillow, the one they had to wash, and yet they seemed not to care at all. If you were honest though, deep down you knew that they weren´t the ones to blame. That damn Giorno was. He took you from your old life without any concerns and shook of your cries and complaints as if you were just being unreasonable and confused. Realistically speaking, the people working here probably didn´t have any other option, how were they supposed to defy the Don of the mafia? Deciding that there was no more time for such useless thoughts, you shook your head as you thought about what you were going to do now. Taking a gamble, you practically ran in the direction the maid was currently working in, feeling a rush of excitement as she didn´t even look up from her work as you soundlessly approached her rapidly. Coming to a stop in front of her, you waved your right hand in front of her face but she kept ignoring you. So, you truly were invisible? It´s not a dream? Right in this moment you could cry tears of joy. So there was still hope for you to escape this hell?! As you internally celebrated your small victory, you almost jumped in surprise when you suddenly saw Giorno walking through the hallway, seemingly wanting to visit you in your room. As you wondered why he had returned so early you scrambled to run back into your room, not wanting to see what might happen if he saw that you weren´t there. You didn´t want him to further restrict your freedom, then you would have no chance to get away, even with this invisibility-ability. As you came to a stop in “your” room, you then soon came to realize that you didn´t know if it was even possible for you to become visible again. And what if you weren´t able to become invisible again after this? Panic filled you but as you saw the door handle begin to move you felt a weight on your shoulders lift. The coat fell from your form, shrinking again and shifting form before turning back into the bat from before and then suddenly disappearing into thin ear. But you weren´t able to think over what happed just now as the blonde stepped into the room, a smile on his face. And as he led you somewhere else, deep in your mind the desire to escape started to take root. You knew it was possible and you had to do everything you could to plan your escape. You would use the following days to prepare for it.
Later, you found out with quick relief that you were indeed able to go invisible again, just simply wishing for it seemed to do the trick. And even when you were visible, the bat really seemed to like to being around you. The little animal spent most of it´s time hanging onto you, no matter if it was your shoulder, your back, your arm or even your head, quietly falling asleep on you in the process. You had to admit it was kind of cute and you were grateful for the company it offered, even if it wasn´t able to communicate with you. Well actually, that didn´t prove to be exactly right. You already knew bats used echolocation to coordinate and find things but it stuck you as especially particular when you found out that you were able to see abstract pictures in your head of what the bat was able to locate. You weren´t able to tell the difference between different people or anything of the sort but you could see moving, big objects in your head. You were confused as how this came to be but decided to just accept the fact that this was happening now and started to embrace this new ability. You decided to use this to your advantage in preparing your escape, sending out the little bat to scout out the mansion without having to actually leave your room and thus preventing any suspicions. As it turned out, no one except you was able to see the bat so you deemed it the safest method. Though you soon found out that you weren´t able to use the echolocation while you were invisible. You guessed that there just HAD to be some kind of restriction to your ability.
You were startled from your thoughts of the past, back into the present day as your fiancé gently grasped your cheeks and rubbed them in what you assumed was supposed to be a comforting manner as he once again had a worried look on his face.
“Y/n are you really sure you are alright? Maybe you need to rest a bit? It wouldn´t do us any good for you to be unwell on the day of our wedding. Let me grab you a glass of water.”, Giorno said as he hesitantly let go of your face to presumably get you something to drink. Looking left and right you saw that you were completely alone now. Was this your chance? After all, after you two were married against your will you didn’t think you would have any time alone anymore. Also, you wanted to prevent a “wedding night” at any costs. Just thinking about it made you shudder in disgust, a chill going down your spine. While he might be looking forward to it; in fact, he TOLD YOU that he was; you wanted anything but that. So, deciding to set your plan in motion you called out to your bat-friend, which soon appeared and settle onto your shoulder. Nodding your head, it seemed to get what you were trying to say as it hopped of your shoulder and started to fly past you and down the hallway. You soon concentrated as the abstract images started to appear in your head as your mind processed the information it was getting sent. Due to the wedding preparations, everyone was in disarray and scurrying around the place, no one was at their usual position and with absolute glee you found that someone had left the door to the outside open in a hurry to probably carry out one of Giorno´s orders. Seeing that this was the perfect chance for you, you called back your bat and as it flew past the kitchen, detecting some kind of movement in there, you mentally already celebrated your freedom. You were so close to getting your old life back, you could hardly contain yourself. Holding out your arm for the animal to settle on, you saw the ring that still adorned your hand and settled your gaze onto it with a frown. It was a symbol of Giorno´s possessiveness, something you wouldn´t need anymore after this. It was a beautiful ring but you weren´t going to accept any of the gifts he had gotten you. You were your own person and didn´t need a reminder of the dark time spent with him. So, with one quick forceful tug, you pushed the ring off of your finger and let it fall to the ground.
Clingggg
The ring made a semi-loud sound as it hit the ground but at this point you couldn´t care anymore. You felt an immense sense of relief as you saw it there, feeling as if a huge weight had just been lifted from you. Looking down at your hand you saw that the ring was now replaced by your dear bat-friend that had flown to you in the meantime and settled onto your hand. Giving it another nod, you watched as it once again started to transform, it´s wings stretching out and slowly wrapping around you, as you started to grow invisible.
Thud thud thud
You heard fast footsteps approaching you, getting closer and closer as the sounds kept growing louder. But looking at your reflection in the gem of your engagement ring on the ground, you weren´t able to see yourself anymore. The process was already over. You had won. You were free.
Not wanting to waste anymore time, you sped up and ran towards the door you previously saw in your head. You the saw who the source of the footsteps was: Giorno. He held a glass of water in his hand, just as he had promised you but there was a sense of urgency in his steps as he approached your former location. Seeing him one last time, you couldn´t help but let a grin slip on you face as you sarcastically waved at him while mouthing “Bye bye!” at him. He obviously wasn´t able to see it as he mindlessly ran by his object of obsession, but right now you just wanted to be petty.
After having to endure his presence for so long and being locked up in this golden cage, you wanted to see his reaction when he realized you were gone. You wanted to see that smug and satisfied expression turn into one of panic as he couldn´t find you. So for a moment you stopped in your tracks to see the whole thing unfold.
His fast steps slowed down as he came to the place you conversed at before, only to see that you weren´t there.
“Tesoro? Where are you dear?”, he called out, his voice slightly wavering. He then proceeded to turn in every which direction, frantically scanning his surroundings with his eyes.
“Y/n? Y/n answer me! Where are you?!” Now he sounded truly panicked and you couldn´t help but be delighted in the sound of that. All this time, Giorno had never really been too emotional with you, being annoyingly calm all of the time, even when you screamed in his face or cried your eyes out. Sure, he looked a bit concerned but he always used to tell you that there was no reason to be upset. That you were being irrational, too emotional, unreasonable. That everything was fine. But seeing him look around frantically now? Well you didn´t deem yourself a sadist but it felt you with a sense of pure satisfaction.
CLASH!!
With a slight jolt, you noticed the now shattered glass on the ground, the water spilling out on the floor in a puddle. Giorno was now kneeling down, as he shakily reached down and pulled his hand through the shards of glass, seemingly not caring about the blood that was now staining his hand. His hand then came to a stop as he grabbed at something and picked it up. Seeing the familiar golden material in his hand, you recognized it to be your engagement ring. Upon seeing the object, Giorno´s whole body started to shake as he let out heavy breaths. From where you were standing it looked like he was about to lose it, no doubt in despair thanks to realizing that you had thrown away the ring that he had so graciously given to you. You felt no regret.
Then he started to turn around and you were expecting to see pain and anguish on his face but to your great surprise, all you could see was a deranged-looking smile and huge relief reflected in his eyes. Your eyes widened even more in both surprise and confusion as he then started to laugh out of nowhere. Was he really losing it now? Thinking that you had now seen everything you needed to see, you turned around again and started to run towards the door. You didn´t need to see him completely lose his mind now. You didn´t want to feel some strange kind of guilt in your stomach for seeing him in such a state. You realized how dangerous a feeling like that was so you wanted to get away as fast as you possibly could now.
“Y/n….oh y/n. I´m deeply hurt but also so glad you threw away the ring! Don´t worry I will be with you soon. You can´t hide from me!”, you didn´t know what he meant you felt that it promised no good so you picked up the pace.
“Gold Experience!”, you heard him shout behind you and asked yourself if he was really gone now. No matter, you would soon be gone.
Looking ahead once more, you saw that you were getting closer and closer to the door. Your ticket out of this hellhole of a cage you had to live in the past few months. Away from the controlling and possessive person that Giorno proved to be. You could finally be free again. You could go back to your old life, to your friends and family. All you had to do was walk through this door and-
You felt something pull your leg back as you promptly tripped and fell onto the floor. Your whole body ached and you rubbed your head as you looked down in confusion. You were trying to see what could have possibly caused you to trip like that. You felt your entire being grow stiff as you saw that a large snake had somehow wrapped itself around your ankle. You didn´t understand how this could have happened. Where the hell did that snake come from? And how was it able to see you? I mean it had to have seen you somehow, right? How else could it have found you?
Thud thud thud
You once again heard footsteps approaching you. This time the steps were thundering, almost frantic as you saw Giorno run towards you. This was bad. You had to somehow get this snake off of you and get away. But you didn´t really know a lot about snakes. Would it bite you if you were to move your leg now? It didn´t matter too much. You would gladly take that risk if it meant getting away from here. So you started to shake around your leg while trying to get the snake off of you, but to no avail. In fact, it only seemed to cling on tighter the more you moved around. It seemed insistent on not letting you run away.
When you saw Giorno come to a stop in front of you, you felt panic well up inside of you. He wasn´t able to see you, you reasoned with yourself. He would walk right past and once this snake stops being stubborn you could still get away. But Lady Luck seemed to have something against you today because Giorno slowly kneeled down so he was at your level. He reached out his arm almost hesitantly as he reached down to the spot where the snake had caught onto you. To your dismay, you felt his hand make contact with your leg, causing you to start trembling. No way. This wasn´t happening. Not when you had been so close to getting away. You tried to desperately shake your leg once again to possibly get rid of the snake but you felt Giorno´s grip on you tighten as you did so. Anxiously looking up in his face, you saw him sigh in relief, a smile on his face that quickly turned into a frown, disappointment now clearly visible.
“Tesoro”, he began with an edge to his voice, making you shake in fear. “I can´t believe you tried to run away from me. Why would you do that? Especially today.”
You just kept quiet, not feeling like giving him a response after everything that had just happened.
“Staying silent? Please that´s not going to help you now. I´m disappointed in you. I know you´ve been very…disagreeable in the beginning and I understand that it was a drastic change for you but I thought we had grown past that by now. You were so nice and sweet to me the last few days, was all of that just an act?!”, he raised his voice a bit at the last part. It was true, you had tried to be more docile and accepting of his advances the last few days to make him lower his guard.
“I don´t understand. Don´t I provide you with anything you could ever wish for? What more could you possibly need? Why would you try to run away and endanger yourself? You´re safe here with me, do you still not understand that? I love you so much y/n, I don´t know what I would do without you. What I felt when I saw that you were missing… I don´t think I have ever felt this sense of panic before.”, at this he tightened his grip once more as if afraid that you would disappear at any moment now. Trying to compose himself once more, Giorno took a deep breath before continuing.
“This invisbility- is it part of your stand? I didn´t know you had one.”
Now you were just confused.
“What´s a stand?”, you asked before being able to stop yourself. Shit, now he knew for certain that it was you. You really weren´t going to get away now.
“Yes, your stand. It seems to grant you invisibility. I too posses a stand and only thanks to that I managed to find you again. To think that you might have been truly gone. My heart aches at the mere thought of it.”
“But no more of that. I will think of an appropriate punishment later. Maybe giving you access to the garden was too tempting for you. For now, let us go back, alright? The wedding ceremony is starting soon and we wouldn´t want to be late for that now, would we?”
With that he took your hand and pulled you off the ground. As he slipped on the ring that you had previously thrown away you couldn´t help but notice something. As if fate wanted to mock you even more for your failed attempt to regain your freedom you made a quick observation.
The ring you were wearing was now stained with the blood that spilled from Giorno´s hand.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
I hope you enjoyed this one! Probably the hardest part of this was coming up with an appropriate stand. My thought process while creating this stand was mostly like: If I was trying to escape a kidnapper, what kind of stand would I want? And I thought invisibility would be nice! I did think about a name but I didn´t think it would make sense for reader to know the name of the stand when they don´t even know what stand are to begin with.
Tho a name that was flying around in my mind was “Haunted House”! Because of the whole appearing and disappearing like ghost thingy lol
Anyway hope you liked this!

A/n: Hello! Here is part 3 for the Charlie Weasley fic I promised. Sorry this took so long. I promised angst, so I'm giving it. Hope you enjoy!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another day, another exam, or so it seemed that way at Hogwarts. As May came to a close, and June starts, your O.W.L.s were giving you more stress than you had ever felt. Your future was on the line if you didn't do well with your exams.
Not only were your exams crushing you, your relationship had been rocky for a couple of months. After the valentines day dance with your date, Charlie Weasley, nothing could have made your life better. You were dating your best friend, all of your friends supported you, and you had no tests coming up. In other words, very different from your life currently.
You were still technically dating your best friend, but from long classes and homework that came with them, to Charlie's quiditch practices lasting forever in hopes of winning the house cup, you hadn't had time to spend a moment alone together in what felt like years.
Your friends would always be there for you and you knew that, you cared about them with your whole heart and knew they felt the same way, but they had their own exams and futures just as you did. You would never ask them for anything because you didn't want to be a burden.
And of course, your exams. Your dreams of becoming a curse breaker were very important to you. You wanted nothing more than to help people, on top of finding your brother and protecting hogwarts. You were a natural curse breaker so it only makes sense that you would pursue your passion. However, if you wanted to do that, you needed to not only pass your exams, but exceed the expectations.
With that responsibility came nights on end in the library, studying, preparing and hoping that it would all work out. Your exams, finding your brother, hell, even your relationship with Charlie. You knew how rocky it was and you were devastated by that, but you knew if you two truly wanted to, it would work out, or so you hoped.
So, another night in the library, was your fate. You wanted to be with Charlie, but you knew he had quiditch practice, and you had a potions exam in the morning that you weren't ready for. As you flipped through your book, trying to soak up as much information as you could, you didn't notice a certain redhead sneak behind you.
"Hey baby," you felt the hot breathe on your neck and jumped more than out of your skin.
"Blimey Charlie, you scared me." He chuckled as he pulled a chair beside you.
"Sorry, I just wanted to see you after practice, and I haven't seen you all weekend." He smiled at you, which you couldn't help but smile back.
"I know, its just tomorrow starts like the most stressful week of the year. If I don't do well on my exams, my future can be forgotten. Speaking of, I am not ready for potions tomorrow, hence why I'm here." You smiled as you looked back towards your book.
"Hey, you're gonna do great on your exam because you are great, and smart, and beautiful," Charlie said as you rolled your eyes and laughed. "Its just we haven't seen each other in a while, thought i could keep you company." You sighed.
"Look, I know we haven't been the most talkative lately, but what exactly do you want me to say, you know how important this is to me." He put his hand on yours.
"I know, I get it baby, I do, and after this week, we're gonna celebrate." He said with the biggest grin on his face. Suddenly, Madame Pince came around the corner with the dirtiest look on her face.
"Shh!" You smiled sheepishly.
"Sorry Madam-"
"Shh!!!" You sighed as she walked away. You turned back to charlie.
"You better go, I have to study and don't wanna get kicked out." You smiled at him.
"Okay, but I meant what I said about celebrating." He smiled hugley. You returned the smile, only a fraction of what he had given you. That made his smile falter and eventually he turned and walked back to his dorm.
Eventually you had to except the time as 11pm rolled around and Madam Pince kicked you out of the library. You took the book along with all your other stuff and headed towards your common room.
Once you were in, you sat down near the fireplace and opened your potions book once again, flipping to the section about dragon livers and how they were hard to get.
Eventually, you heard the clock strike 2am and had to call it a night. As you closed your booka nd sat back, looking into the fire, you thought of your life as a cursebreaker, how great it would be, how much you wanted to do it, and what you were willing to do to achieve that goal.
As you stood up and headed towards the stairwell, your way was blocked by charlie, the last person you expected to see, especially at this hour.
"Hey, what're you doing up?" Charlie asked groggy.
"I could ask you the same thing. I was just going to bed." You said as you pushed past him and climbed the stairs. He followed you up.
"I thought you'd be up, I was just checking on you." You turned around as you got to the last step before your dorm and smiled.
"Thats sweet, but go back to bed. Goodnight." You leaned down and kissed him on the cheek, then headed into your dorm, falling on your bed and instantly falling asleep.
The next morning, you woke at around 8. Shit. You were late. You quickly got up and dressed faster than ever and ran to the dungeons. You mad either to class just in time, not eating or anything.
"Well, well, Ms. Brooks, you have decided to grace us with your presence, how considerate." Snape sneered at you as you walked to your seat beside Rowan, breathing heavily, across the room, you saw Charlie looking worriedly at you, which was the last thing you wanted in that moment.
Once your potion exam was finished, you walked out of the room, feeling exhausted and like you failed. You started walking to your next exam, which was charms, the easiest of your exams. Soon enough a certain redhead caught up with you.
"Hey, y/n, why were you late today?" You turned to him.
"I over slept, which I dont do, so I didn't realize at which point I had to sprint to make it, which I didnt." You sighed tired lying. "Why?"
"Just wondering, I missed you at breakfast. Did you eat anything?" You smiled softly.
"No, I haven't but its fine, look i have to go to charms and I really don't wanna be late again, see you." Without another word from either of you, you walked away to charms.
At charms, you felt most confident of all classes, which honestly wasn't saying a lot. You finished your exam pretty easily and walked to the great hall, intending on studying until your Defense Against the Dark Arts exam in an hour. Once the clock struck the time to take your next exam, you left the great hall.
Once you reached DADA, you walked in with Tulip and took your seat. You should feel bad, but you just were so glad charlie wasn't there, staring at you like a sorry case. He meant well and you knew it but you just wanted space.
As you finished your final exam of the day, you headed to the library, studying for transfigurations next. When you reached the library, unfortunately you fell into the same pattern as the previous night, except this time no charlie.
When the clock struck midnight, you went to the dorm room and headed straight for bed, not bothering to study anymore. Once your head hit the pillow, you were out.
When you woke up the next morning, the sun was shining into your window nicely. It was a good way to wake up honestly. You say up and saw Rowan asleep. You figured you had a few minutes before breakfast so you got up and got dressed.
You and Rowan walked to breakfast while revising your transfiguration knowledge. You didn't feel as bad about it as potions but you also didn't feel as great about it as charms. Walking into the great hall, you found Charlie sitting with his younger brothers. You knew you had to go sit with him.
"Hey y/n, how'd you sleep?" Charlie asked as he saw you sit next to him and his brothers giggled at him, to which he sent a dirty look.
"Um, not the best but ye know. Its whatever." As you sat down you ate the blandest breakfast ever, granola and coffee, it would just have to do for today.
"Are you guys ready for the big game tomorrow night?" Fred asked the table. You looked at him with a confused expression whereas everyone else seemed to understand.
"What game fred?" He turned to you.
"Uh, the house cup game, we are so gonna kick hufflepuffs ass." Ah.
"Right, good luck." Charlie turned to you.
"You'll come right love? What me win?" You smiled as you sipped your coffee.
"Uh yeah, maybe, I might have to study for History of magic but we'll see." Charlie stopped.
"Y/n, you can't miss the game, its only the biggest game of the year. Please come." Ugh when he gave you those puppy dog eyes, you knew you were done for.
"Okay, yes I will go, of course I will." You smiled and kissed his cheek.
As breakfast finished and you and Rowan made your way to transfiguration, you felt confident in the upcoming essay. Going over info with Rowan definitely helped.
Once you were finished with the exam, you went to the great hall, being assigned twenty five inches of parchment for the second half of the exam was not ideal. You were stressed out, but at least you only had care of magical creatures left for the day, something you were sure you'd excel in thanks to charlie.
As you walked down the grounds for your exam, you felt very confident that you'd do well. Your confidence was correctly placed as you walked to the common room to start on you parchment for transfiguration, doing very well on your exam in care of magical creatures.
The real problems didn't start until the following day, charlies big game was today and you hadn't made a dent in your parchment, due to not being able to focus and eventually falling asleep far earlier than you would have liked. Today you had exams in astronomy, history of magic and a regular potions class. You were extremely busy today, it didn't help you woke up 20 minutes before your exam in astronomy so you had to sprint once again to be on time.
Once you were seated in astronomy, your exam begun and you didnt feel very confident. You gave it your all and after about 75 minutes, you were done. You walked out and saw your boyfriend charlie who lit up when he saw you. You walked over to him with a small smile on your face.
"Hey babe, whats up?" You asked him.
"Not much now that your hear, just nervous for later." You looked at his smiling face confused.
"Later?" His smile dropped. You had forgotten about the quitditch match.
"The match that determines who wins the house cup? I thought you were coming, its really important to me." Shit. Right, yeah of course you would go.
"Right, of course I will be there, sorry I'm just tired you know how it is. I will be there, but right now I have to go to potions, ill see you later." Damn, how had you forgotten?
Potions seemed to last forever as Snape lectured on Beatle brains, you swore you were going to die of boredom, all you wanted to do was study for history of magic.
When class was finally dismissed, you headed straight for the library, not having your final exam for an hour and a half. When you sat down in the library, you immediately fell into studying, the time slipping by quickly until it was time to go to your exam.
Arriving to your exam, you set your things down and got ready for it, feeling confident as you had spent a lot of time studying for this. You finished your exam in 65 minutes and headed to the great hall, feeling hungry.
When you got to the great hall and saw what was happening inside, all hunger left your body.
Shit.
Inside, Gryffindor students were celebrating the win of the house cup, you had forgotten the game. You walked in to the great hall and saw Charlie, held up by his teammates above everyone like a king. You smiled at how happy he looked, but when he saw you, its like every drop of happiness was taken from him and you felt your heart break.
Charlie told his team mates to let him down which they did as he made his way over to you, looking hurt and disappointed. You couldn't do much besides stand there and look at him sheepishly.
"Y/n, why didn't you come to the game, you knew how important it was to me and how much I could have used your support." He said loudly, causing those near you to look on at the conversation.
"Charlie, can we go in the hallway?" He looked pissed but didn't object. Once you were away from everyone, you turned to him.
"Charlie, I am so sorry I didn't go to your game, I was in the library studying and the time just got away from me and before I knew it I had to go to my exam and I completely forgot l. I'm so sorry. But you won anyway so you didn't need me at all, cause your just that good." You said with a smile, trying to defuse his anger. It didn't work.
"Y/n, that's not the point, you said you would be there and I wanted you there. You didn't need to study for your exam, you've been studying all week, this is all I asked of you and you couldn't even give me this." As he finished, you felt sorrow drain and anger rise.
"What exactly do you mean I didnt need to study for my exam? I have been studying all week, unlike you, because I care about getting good grades. You know how badly I need to do on my exams to have a future! I didnt go to your match, because I wanted to make sure I did well. I apologized but now your being irrational." He scoffed.
"Irrational? I asked one thing of you, I asked you to attend a quiditch match to support your boyfriend, but apparently if it doesn't benefit you, it doesn't matter, huh is that it?" You were now fully screaming at each other, thank god the hallway was deserted.
"Are you serious? You know maybe if you cared more about your future and grades like I do, you would see where I'm coming from, but all you care about is a God damn match and dragons! No wonder we've been like this for months. You say im selfish, I've done everything for you. I miss one thing and the worlds over to you." Charlie turned away and scoffed.
"You're right, we have been like this for a long time, because we just don't work anymore." You froze. "Y/n, you can't even support your own boyfriend, you care more about tests than anything, this clearly isn't working." You looked at him while a tear rolled down your cheek, which you quickly wiped away. You didn't want to break up with Charlie, God no. But he didn't seem to want to stay together.
"Charlie, it's not like that, you know how stressed I've been, I'm sorry I didn't come to your game, I truly meant to go. I care a lot about my future, but you don't and thats not on me. You can't put this on me, its not just the match, you've been like this ever since the dance, its not only me." More tears rolled down your cheeks as one slid out from his eye.
"Y/n, this just isn't working, I'm sorry." No, God no please.
"Charlie, no, please, don't do this. I swear I-" he cut you off.
"I'm sorry, its already done." He turned and walked away, leaving you standing alone in an empty corridor, feeling your heart leaving your soul. You don't know how it happened, you don't know where it went wrong. Was it truly the match? Or was it ever since the day of the dance? Did he even ever like you?
As you stood in that corridor, you felt cold, you felt like you soul left you. You watched him walk away and eventually out of eyesight, thinking about how you would never feel his kiss again, never feel the comfort of his embrace, never feel his love again.
You didn't want this, God no, but your gut told you it had to happen, you just wish it didn't hurt this much. As you wrapped your arms around yourself and sank to the floor with tears on your face, you felt nothing but hollow, wishing the presence of charlie was still there. Wishing he could hold you and tell you he loved you again, as you loved him still.
You didn't know how you were going to go on without him, but you knew one thing for sure, the last thing you cared about was your fucking grades, because you just lost the best thing in your life.
A/n: okay, sorry this took so long, I suck i know! Im sorry this was shitty, I will try to finish the series relatively soon, there will be 2 more parts. I hope you like it, thanks for reading!

'cause all that you are is all that i'll ever need
fandom: bridgerton series / bridgerton tv
pairing: colin/penelope
summary: 5 times Penelope said ‘I love you’ to one Mr. Bridgerton, and one time it was out loud. (AO3)
There are many ways to fall in love, surely. It’s called a fall for a reason: mainly that it hurts and it comes at the most unnecessary moments and it’s an entirely ungraceful matter. Just as one might fall down the stairs after too many glasses of champagne, or fall unconscious after being punched in the face, or fall because one’s ankle decided to twist most rudely – so do people fall in love in a various of ways.
Benedict Bridgerton swears it was love at first sight, like being struck by lightning. Laying his eyes on his beloved that fateful day, and knowing with insane certainty that he was going to spend the rest of his life by her side. Then Daphne’s murmured admissions, that it’s like a sigh you didn’t know rested in your chest releasing, rush of comfort and certainty when touching the other’s hand. Eloise scoffs at all of this, but Eloise can scoff because she has refused six marriage proposals, while Penelope sighs, because she hasn’t had one caller in a decade of London’s most notorious seasons.
Romantic stories wouldn’t fit with Penelope, she agrees. Her mouth doesn’t really know how to work half the time during social situations, and her dresses are most painfully unfitting. And if those were her only problems, but she is, to put it delicately and kindly, definitely not what seasonal diamonds want in a friend, not what loving mamas wish for their sons and not what men desire in a woman. It stung only the first time around, afterwards it was most expected. So no, Penelope Featherington’s love story is not romantic because she’s not a typically loveable person.
It doesn’t make it any less precious in her heart. When her bonnet flies with the gust of wind, consequently covering one Colin Bridgerton’s face while riding, and consequently having him fall down his horse directly in a fresh puddle of mud, she is mortified, certain that she is about to ruin her life before it even began. But then he laughs – not to mock her, not in jest and not in anger, unlike any of her past experiences with a man’s laughter, especially thrown in her direction. He doesn’t even look angry, not at her anyway.
And Penelope falls, too, even if not quite literally as Colin. She’s not sure how she recognizes it exactly as love – maybe the desperate flutter of her heartbeat against her wrist, or the fact that she can’t quite unglue her eyes away from his face (though that seems like an overall Bridgerton issue). Regardless, the truth and weight of the moment hung deep in her chest. Instead, what she manages to say, between the warm blush and their mothers’ chatter, is just an apology.
“I’m the one who should apologize.”
But she has a meddling mama, and he’s nothing but a young man despairing at such nagging, and despite how much she cares for this first moment, she knows she doesn’t quite yet exist in his life. And then – with her debut, with her growing friendship with Eloise, she suddenly is.
***
“Enjoying the evening, Mrs. Featherington?” Colin asks, having materialized himself near the refreshments table.
Penelope chokes on her drink, her cheeks reddening, the fingertips of her gloves now stained.  She has been sipping at her glass for the best part of an hour now, wondering how much longer she can wait for everyone to get so drunk that they won’t notice her grabbing one of the cakes on the table. The answer is obviously an eternity, for a lady should never eat in mixed company, especially if she is a debutante. But although this is barely her fourth ball this season, Penelope has already learnt the most important lesson of her life: that she is not what others would necessarily call a catch. Just because that is true, however, doesn’t mean she can do as she pleases, no matter how incredibly tasty the chocolate cream might look to her right now.
Colin obviously seems to have no problem with such rules, as he pops a biscuit inside his mouth. This one Bridgerton son is known for his appetite in particular, and social circumstances seem to not make much of a difference to his need. And the amount of food he ingests seems to not make much of a difference on how handsome he is.
Penelope pushes her glass on the table, straightening her back, though she immediately hunches back, aware that she’s wearing one of her mother’s absolutely horrid choices, and hell-bent on making it as unobvious as possible.
“Absolutely entertaining,” she answers, though the enthusiasm in her voice most certainly does not match her words.
“I’d rather agree,” Colin retorts. “I haven’t been this bored since Anthony got drunk and drawled on about the responsibilities of the first son.”
“Mr. Bridgerton!” she says, raising her fan so she can hide her smile behind it.
“Keep it a secret, Mrs. Featherington, would you? The Bridgertons tend to be quite unforgiving about these things.”
She thinks of Eloise and her adorably brilliant tendency to throw a tantrum about every single thing that bothers her about her siblings, whom she loves very, very much at the same time, which only makes her smile even larger. They’re such a lovely family, and with time, they’ll only grow to seem even more so in her eyes.
She nods her head in agreement, meeting his eyes over the edge of her fan. He looks, suddenly, quite proud to have her on his side. From across the ballroom, Eloise spots them: sending a nasty look at Colin, and waving her friend over.
“And please, Colin,” he leans a bit to whisper this to her, as the orchestra starts playing another song. “As it seems we will be seeing each other quite a lot.”
“Then, Colin,” she breathes, the name still foreign in her mouth, the roll of it on her tongue so strange that she’ll test it out many times over, in the darkness of her room long after she’s supposed to be asleep. “You may call me Penelope.”
She tries not to fixate on the sound of her name in his mouth (or his mouth in general, that’d be a good idea as well), and fails immensely, everything Eloise tells her that night flying over her head.
***
Penelope isn’t sure when the habit actually started: serving her tea once a week in the company of the Bridgertons. Of course, the number always changes, depending on the day’s circumstances, but it’s always more lively than her own home, in the most pleasant sense. Even the gossip doesn’t feel as cutting in here, with the warm banter and somewhat friendly threats. Eloise is now entangled in a complicated conversation on the virtues of marriage with her sister Daphne, and they’re sure on two different sides on the topic. Violet Bridgerton, the matriarch, just sighs. She meets Penelope’s eyes over the heads of her children, and smiles in a kindest manner. Eloise just rejected her second marriage proposal, while her best friend is yet to receive even a caller in her drawing room.
She recognizes the smile as the pity it is, and yet even that doesn’t feel as bad in here. Penelope has always taken only what has been given to her and made the best out of it. It’s hard when that is actually nothing, indeed.
“Pen,” Colin greets, draping himself in an armchair close to the side of the sofa where she is seated.
He doesn’t yet know how incredibly appropriate this nickname of his is, which is why Penelope smiles so brightly when she turns towards him. Violet’s attention has already moved towards Hyacinth and George, her youngest children, fighting quite loudly over the same colour that they both want to use right now in their paintings. She fails exactly to notice Daphne’s on them now, maybe out of lack of familiarity with the eldest sister.
Colin hands her a piece of paper, and she raises her eyebrow at him before taking it. He’s immediately replacing it with a piece of cheese from the numerous platters on the table, and that’s how she knows he is, in fact, quite nervous about whatever this is about. So she opens the piece of paper.
“The itinerary for my Europe tour,” he provides, though it wasn’t necessary, as she obviously recognizes the most famous locations. “Wanted to know what you think.”
The paper almost slips from her hands, unfair as he is right now. Of course, he has no way of knowing that he’s asking the one who loves him what she thinks about having him away. Penelope manages to somehow smile in-between the thundering of her own heart.
“You’re asking the opinion of a soon-to-be-spinster who has never left London?”
Joking is safe, she can cover her misgivings so easily with some humour – and Colin is so good at picking it up, matching her in her banter.
“No,” he says, and his thumb is over his lips, where he’s licking a spot of jam, and Penelope is quite distracted by the sight of his tongue in-between his fingers. “I’m asking my friend.”
Her neck snaps with how quickly she moves to meet his gaze. There’s a warmth feeling spreading all through her body, overwhelming with how pleased she is at the simple fact that he considers her a friend, how shocked at such admission.
“Are we not? Friends, that is.”
“Of course,” she adds, a bit too fast, and he smiles.
“Then?” the tone of his voice now turns teasing again.
“Colin,” she says, and her mouth twists in a smile just at the syllables making up his name. “You’re a young man: if there’s a world out there you wish to see, all you have to do is go.”
Even if she has to say goodbye, even if she has to see him go, just because she knows it’ll make him happy.
***
Penelope can feel herself getting physically sick. It’s been years now, of her silent love growing and growing in her chest – and it would seem that this moment would destroy it all.
Colin, standing in-between his brothers, having just shouted at the top of his lungs that he will never marry one Penelope Featherington, looks quite livid now that the exact person has been standing in the doorway for long enough to have heard him. Their eyes meet, and she wishes, with all the strength she is capable of, that he would say something. She waits – five seconds: the eldest, Anthony, starts finding excuses for his brother, but there’s really nothing else she wants to hear right now.
She knows her hands are trembling, which is why she hides it by fisting the material of her dress. She knows her voice cracks, when she says his name, but that’s just because she will absolutely not cry in front of three perfectly fine gentlemen over something that is entirely her problem. All things considered, she thinks she handled the situation more gracefully than a lot of others would have.
And when the other Bridgerton men leave the room, and Colin is left stumbling through his apologies, she discovers how meaningless she actually finds them. Because even with her heart breaking exactly because of the one she loves, she finds herself unable to love him any less. Yes, her pride is wounded, but he has said nothing that she didn’t know so well so far.
“I assure you, it is quite alright.”
The pain is there, sharp and terrible – but she will play pretend and she will say whatever words he needs to hear right now, because while he was unnecessary cruel, he was never so in front of her, on purpose, and there’s no need for her to be mean in return. And most of all, because she loves him so desperately, she doesn’t want him to be pained over this, not like she is. Anguished, really, and when Colin shakes his head, knowing that whatever apologies he’s given aren’t enough, but certain enough that he can’t give more, she almost runs in her haste to get away from him.
To get somewhere where she can cry her feelings out. Though her love, as every time, always lingers.
***
Her mother should get an award for the most optimist person, seeing how even with two of her daughters married, she still insists on parading a third one through ballrooms and promenades, as unsuccessful as they prove each and every time, and as old as they both keep getting.
Her mother should also get an award for way less flattering awards, seeing how she insists on dressing her daughter in the most terrible, happy colours, and pointing at third-rate suitors even as they’re standing right in the middle of the ballroom and it’s incredibly embarrassing.
In her defence, once they’re there and once it’s obviously clear Penelope is as unsuccessful as during any other social gathering before, she is left pretty much alone the rest of the time. She’s a wallflower, so just standing on the side of the dance floor and looking awkward is what she does best. The worst part is that this situation puts one quite in the spotlight of everyone else present, especially those old enough to have no other occupation but gossip.
Violet Bridgerton elbows her son in his back, hard. Who knew his mother has such incredibly sharp bones, or such a demanding tone? Colin has been home for a total of two days before he’s been dragged to the first ball, and he’s allowed three sips of his drinks before all attention-seeking young debutantes and their sharp mamas accosted him (which included his own dear one). Colin balances his options, and without even hesitating, he walks across the room to join Penelope in her sulking.
“I imagine these fine gentlemen are all waiting for their chance,” he says, looking around at several old lords, twice her age, which he knows she would not consider an eligible match no matter how desperate, “but would you maybe do me the honour of the next dance?”
She snorts. “I see you’re back and as amusing as ever.”
“You find me amusing?” he asks, already grinning.
“Colin Bridgerton, I’m not complimenting you again, lest it gets to your head,” she retorts.
“I missed you too, Pen.”
And it’s true. He didn’t realise it until just this moment, when they’ve fallen to their usual dynamic with no bit of awkwardness, even after the past months with his absence. It shames him just the tiniest bit that it has taken his mother’s most unkind pressure to even come by her side.
The orchestra starts its next song, and he extends his arm to her, which she takes with a blush and a shy smile. He is in fact her first dance for the night, and she has no doubt it’ll be the only one as well, which is a shame, since she always quite enjoyed dancing. Dances with good partners are the highlight of a party. Dances with Colin Bridgerton are the highlight of the season.
“Thank you,” she says, and if Colin wasn’t already leaned quite close to her, he maybe would have missed it entirely.
***
Penelope really should have learnt better by now – that her heart is never entirely safe with Colin. Be it that he has a tendency to step all over it, or that it makes it beat so fast, that she starts understanding all the ladies who faint all over during a season.
Being engaged with him doesn’t really change the situation. Not when his kisses make her feel like everything that she’s considered so bad in herself is worth the entire world, and then more.
With his hands now swiftly unlacing her dress, the shadow of his room all around them – she finds she cannot keep another secret for this man that is to be her husband,
“I love you,” she sighs. “I have loved you for years.”
“I know.”
How unfair he is, to the bitter end. Even as he essentially accosted her in his carriage, even as he asked her to marry him, even as he defended her in front of her numerous family, getting offended on her behalf, getting worried on her behalf… Terrible man that she loves, terrible man that Colin is, he drags out his own admittance as long as possible.
And she loves him for it, too.

Looking more like a boy
🍎 Epel x fem!reader (fluff) WORD COUNT : : 1.5k
Description- Epel loves his beloved very much, even though they look more manly than him. But what happens when he tries to become more manly himself?
Tumblr media
Epel loved (y/n) more than anything he ever had loved before, not only him but his lover knew that too. The whole Pomefiore dorm did, Vil was very happy to see them together though he would comment on one flaw every time this topic was brought up in his presence.
Only one thing's wrong in their wild relationship, is the perplexity of finding out which one of them is a boy or a girl. God, (y/n) always had to assure him that not to get so overboard on these pathetic matters, but that guy wouldn't have it. Epel gets so angry when someone confuses him with a girl while he's somewhat embarrassed that his girlfriend was so strongly built.
Even Mr. Vargas sometimes gave an example of her to teach the students to build muscles, Vargas rarely compliments someone else other than his egocentric self on the concept of muscles. But (y/n) begs to differ on that matter. "Mr. Vargas is more female following, I guess."
Insecurity is highly available in the love market. Epel dragged, literally dragged, away (y/n) when some delinquent/ jock randomly flipped his arm on her during Magift practice. Be prepared for a long lecture in a very cute voice by the little apple, pun intended. Expecting a change in accent when he started talking was crucial.
"Why?! Out of all people . . ." "Ain't I enough for ya?! You don't like me because I ain't muscular?"
Then there were coddling moments, (y/n) crushed Epel into a hug," God, my idiot boyfriend . . . if I liked muscular guys would I go out with you in the first place?"
The girl teased him a lot though for his switch in accent. "You sound like a little lion sometimes. . . Kingscholar would be jealous." The apple boy blushed a lot with (y/n) whispering in his ear or touching his face.
To match her girlfriend in every way Epel tries a little too much than expected.
One day while experimenting in the laboratory along with Jack Howl for their assessment Epel was multi-tasking with another book hidden under his desk and reading the book which was based on magical pharmaceuticals for the second-year level.
By chance, Jack spotted the book and scolded him for cheating. Immediately Epel got a switch in his persona and was bomb-barding over the 192cm wolf with his southern comments while spilling his beans at the moment.
"You're trying to make a potion that will make you more muscular?" Jack muttered in disbelief, he couldn't fathom at first that why would a cute Pomefiore require such a potion in the first place.
Epel, being Epel, switched to his regular façade in an instant and was stammering like mad as a hatter. "Oh, !-! I-it's just . . . so t-that I can look a b-bit . . . more masculine... f-for her." It wasn't hidden from anyone that (y/n) (l/n) and Epel were dating but Jack never expected him to go this far to read and understand a high-level medicine book. Jack merely scratched his head, confused about what to say next, "I think Vil-Senpai once told me that taking a body development potion can cause a lot of strain to the body as well as the mind. . ." Epel had his head down, pressed against the desk, "I know that! It's just it's kinda weird that (y/n) looks more like a man than me."
Feeling like a good puppy that Jack is he decided to help Epel with the potion considering that it was of vast complexity (and we know that our Tsundere puppy would never admit that he is doing this by heart lol).
All afternoon Jack and Epel spent their time researching and putting all sorts of herbs and potions into the cauldron. "Epel, focus closely on how the color changes. We don't want to create trouble for ourselves." Jack instructed while putting another herb as designated in the book. Epel nodded," Understood."
Slowly the color started to fade into a vicious color of red, thick and rich. Jack and Epel both peered down to take a closer look. As the book said it would be welcoming at first glance yet the trick of the potion was to figure out which part was truthful. It hadn't yet been figured out that when was it best to consume the potion. Many theories were concocted for its usage; 'drink it when it turns out a bit bluish', 'it'll smell like rotten eggs at first,' 'don't drink if it's still milk-white,' such and such.
"How will we figure out that the potion is drinkable yet-"Jack said, he turned his head only to be at the verge of losing it. Epel was already gorging on the drink, the liquid falling on the floor at each gulp. "E-Epel?! What are you d-doing?" But by then it was already too late.
The potion was all gone and all was left was to see if their hard work bore any fruit. Laughter broke out a minute later. "Jack!! I can feel the power surging in me . . . . God, it's amazing!" Jack was baffled, then knowing that everything was alright smirked a little at their success. But then something struck him, Isn't potion supposed to make him taller? Then why is he shrinking...
His realization was as late as ever. A poof of purple smoke surrounded Epel and within the blink of an eye . . . vóila! The apple had turned into a cat; A pretty cute one to be exact.
His eyes were big with their same blue irises and were staring adoringly/in confusion at Jack. "Meow?" Jack took it as 'what the hell happened?' As much as he wanted to lecture Epel the Cat, he couldn't. Stan cuteness.
Jack cursed the time he decided to be a good puppy and help Epel out, now he was in big trouble than anyone could anticipate. The terrifying image of (y/n) wrathful face started to haunt him, he was sure that Epel had the same thoughts. With swift arms Epel was under Jack's protection, they both headed towards the hall of mirrors to the Pomefiore dorm.
But but but . . . the goddess of fate had taken a little vacation. In their hurried state they were spotted by the person they both least wanted to see right now.
 "Hey, Jack!!!"
"Goddamn it!!" Jack muttered angrily, this couldn't have been the worst time to be killed right now. (y/n) approached him at an unprecedented speed Jack could've reciprocated. He was done for. "What up bro—oh who's this?" (y/n) gazed at Epel with the same affection she would give him when he, you know, is not busy as a cat.
The girl patted the cat's head, "Is this your pet, Jack?" (y/n) asked. His face flushed red at that question alone, so did Epel's, but in this case, it was his snout. "Uh . . . no . . . (y/n). It's not my pet. . ." Jack stammered, and hard. That day was no good for him. "It's not yours? Then maybe Ruggie's? I've seen him quite getting along with Lucius," the never-ending string of cat-related questions continued with Jack stammering like a fool and Epel losing his shit.
Finally, in anger, he leaped in (y/n)'s arms. The girl was taken back a bit but materialized because of Epel's soft purring. "It's strange. . . Epel does the same when he's having a rough time. Burying his face in my arms then falling asleep," (y/n) laughed. "Which reminds me . . . have you seen him anywhere?"
Be prepared to see a dying Jack any minute.
A guy, then, approached the group in a hurry, "(y/n)! Vice prez of Octavinelle is looking for you."
While being dragged away (y/n) called out to tell her if he gets to know anything about Epel do let her know. God bless the anonymous dude who unintentionally saved Jack Howl from being slaughtered. Epel looked relieved too, that and a little triumphant purr.
Then their venture towards Pomefiore continued. Upon reaching everyone in that glittering dorm showered Epel the Cat with love which was already less required but was, later on, were saved by Vil Schoenheit.
Jack ushered Vil into a corner with Epel still secured in his arms and narrated the story from top to bottom.
"YOU WHAT?!" Nobody could understand why their simply composed dorm leader lost his cool all of a sudden.
Vil already made plans to clear out his afternoon to lecture Jack and Epel thoroughly tomorrow for causing this blunder, but Epel Felmier had to be saved. That night Jack again spent his entire time looking through the potions book with Vil brewing the antidote. Never in his life, Jack went through so much Alchemy and he swore that whatever happened next he wouldn't touch a single Alchemy book (unless it's a test then we can't sue the wolf).
But one thing was final that he was going to do something lurid to Epel as soon as he gets back to normal, or he isn't Savnnaclaw.

‘Braid’ for the helnik prompts?
Modern AU, mostly based off of this SAB promo video where Danielle admits she doesn't know how to ride a bike. Hope you enjoy!
After the seventh time, Matthias told himself he wasn’t allowed to check his watch again.
She’ll get here when she gets here, he repeated like a mantra. Besides, he knew she wasn’t standing him up, at least based on the text he had gotten a few minutes earlier.
sorry running late c u soon nina xo
Fifteen minutes later and he was contemplating sending a reply—definitely something casual, maybe a touch concerned, if only to see if she was alright—when he saw her coming down the sidewalk, a warm smile of recognition on her lips.
Matthias had met Nina Zenik three days ago at his neighborhood coffeeshop. He had gone in to grab his regular before heading to work, but somehow hadn’t managed to notice the person beside him at the pick-up counter, or foreseen that she would turn and run straight into him, spilling his coffee all over his Italian loafers and the floor. She was immediately apologetic, offering to get him a new drink to make up for it. Under normal circumstances, Matthias would have declined and simply written the whole thing off as an irritating blip in his morning routine, but then she looked at him, emerald-bright eyes under dark lashes, and he found himself nodding in agreement, his shoes—and his morning routine—forgotten entirely. He had ended up joining her at a table while they sipped their drinks—his dark roast, her caramel vanilla latte—and eventually exchanged numbers, along with plans for an afternoon date this coming Saturday.
(When Matthias finally made it to work, he tried to sneak in quietly, hoping no one would notice that he was almost two hours late.)
Nina looked just as beautiful as he remembered: freckled skin, full lips, curves in all the right places. Matthias wasn’t necessarily one to notice women’s outfits, but she was dressed perfectly for the summer afternoon in jean shorts and a striped t-shirt, leather sandals on her feet and a pair of sunglasses perched atop her head. As she came closer, he could see she had even braided her hair—one of those complicated French things that seemed impossible to create with only two hands—although a few wisps had come loose, forming a soft dark corona around her head.
“Hey, there,” she said. Her smile grew wide and warm, and his heart stumbled for a second, like it had tripped on some invisible curb. “So, what adventure do you have planned for us?”
“How do you feel about picnics?”
“Number one fan. I’m also partial to brunch and happy hours and any other combination of sunshine and food. You know,” she added, arching an eyebrow, “just for future reference.”
“Noted.”
Matthias began to steer them down the sidewalk, just to the corner where a rack of identical bikes sat waiting. The city had installed them a year or so ago as part of a ride-sharing program, and while he would often see people on them, zipping down bike lanes and park paths, he had never had an occasion to try one out before—until today.
“So I thought we could bike down to the city gardens and maybe do a little loop around the reservoir. After that, we can go find a good picnic spot.” He turned a little so she could see the backpack he had strapped to his shoulders. “I brought sandwiches and fruit and cold drinks. And a blanket, of course.”
Nina’s expression had gone blank, a dark little cloud beginning to form across her features.
“That all sounds great, really—except there’s just one small problem.”
“What?” he asked.
“I can’t ride a bike.”
Matthias paused, thoroughly perplexed. “Wait, you can’t? Or you won’t?”
“No, I just—” She shrugged, her mouth tightening in resignation. “I never learned how.”
“You never learned how to ride a bike? Not even as a kid?” he asked in apparent disbelief. Her green eyes flashed with irritation, prompting him to quickly backtrack. “Sorry, sorry.”
Matthias could feel his heart sinking; he had been fairly proud of everything he had planned for their outing, and now he could feel it all slipping away due to some ridiculous twist of fate he couldn’t have possibly been expected to foresee. Didn’t everyone know how to ride a bike? He had been seven when his dad taught him, brought him out to the sidewalk in front of their house and held the seat upright as Matthias did his best to pedal and stay balanced at the same time. Suddenly, the idea struck him, making him feel even dumber for not having come up with it sooner.
“Hey, look—” he said to her, “why don’t I just teach you right now?”
Her brows narrowed doubtfully. “You want to teach me how to ride a bike?”
“It’s not that hard. Little kids do it all the time,” he added, offering her a teasing grin. He could feel her being won over, the hesitation in her gaze slowly disappearing. “C’mon...”
“Okay,” Nina said, eyeing him carefully, even as the corners of her mouth began to curl upwards. “But there better be some spectacular sandwiches stowed away in that backpack.”
It took them a few minutes to get two bikes off of the rack—there was some business with QR codes and an app—and then Matthias walked them over to a little alleyway that seemed fairly safe to practice in. There weren’t any cars and the only possible thing she could possibly run into was a metal dumpster about fifty yards away. He leaned his bike up against the wall of the adjacent building and then went to help her with her own.
Before they could get started, though, he zipped open his backpack and handed her one of the two items tucked right on top.
“A helmet?” she scoffed. “Really?”
“It’s required, you know. By law.” He tried to ignore how ridiculous he sounded—like a safety-obsessed killjoy, no doubt—and proceeded to give her his most serious-looking expression. “Also, head injuries can create a lot of blood.”
Nina rolled her eyes at him, even as her voice turned playful. “I bet you say that to all the girls...”
Before she could strap on the helmet, though, she had to slip her sunglasses off her head. She folded them up and tucked them into the front of her t-shirt collar, the weight tugging a little on the scoop neck, while Matthias did his best not to stare at the shadowy hint of cleavage now visible at the bottom of her neckline.
He helped her adjust the seat down and then test out the brakes, until she was finally ready to get started. She swung a leg over and found a seat, her hands tightly gripping the handles.
“Start by putting one of your feet on the pedals,” he told her, watching as she followed his instructions. “Okay, now take your other foot—the one on the ground—and push off. Just coast for a few seconds.”
Nina nodded, then turned forward with a sharp look of determination. She was bigger than a child, so it wouldn’t do any good to hold the seat for her; instead he stood alongside, his arms braced to catch the handlebars and the seat if it came to that. With one foot, she pushed herself forward, wobbling just a bit before she came to a stop.
The grin on her face was nothing short of triumphant.
“That was great!” he said, wanting to do anything he could to keep her smiling like that. “Want to try again?”
This time, she didn’t hesitate, pushing off a bit harder against the ground. She must have started pedaling a little too, because she started going faster, and suddenly she looked over at him, eyes widening with alarm. The handlebars turned with her gaze and all at once she was swerving, the bike seemingly ready to topple.
Matthias did the only thing he could do: he caught her in his arms.
It took them a moment or so to recover—a long moment where all he could think about was how warm and soft she felt, the way her ribcage was gently expanding under his hand, the sweet flowery scent of her shampoo—and then he quickly swallowed and took a step back to help her right the bike. He could hear the waver in her breath, no doubt due to her near-fall.
“Good thing I was wearing that helmet, huh?” Nina teased, warmth edging into those bright green eyes.
“Yeah... lucky,” he stammered.
“So—” She glanced down at the bike underneath her. “Third time’s a charm?”
After a steadying breath, she pushed off again, letting her balance keep her upright before she began to pedal her feet. The handlebars trembled, but she did her best to hold them steady as she traveled another few feet.
“Keep looking straight ahead,” he said encouragingly, keeping his hand along her lower back. “It’ll go in the direction you look.”
With a burst of confidence, she picked up speed, fast enough that he let go and just looked on as she moved further into the alleyway. Matthias found himself smiling as he watched her, observing proudly as she turned the bike a little to the left and then to the right, eventually swiveling back to go in the original direction. After a few seconds, she swerved again, this time in a wide loop, pedaling until she had completely turned around and was coming towards him once more.
She laughed as she passed by him, a sound of pure delight. “Matthias!” she squealed, her feet moving faster. “I think you’re going to have to come catch me again!”
Eventually, he thought, she was going to have to stop—but she didn’t, not even when she was coming close to the end of the alleyway.
“Wait, Nina!” he yelled, and suddenly he was scrambling for the bike he had left against the wall, barely managing to get it upright before he took off after her.
And as he sped up, he could see her half-silhouetted in the distance—her body moving in sync with the wheels underneath her—a joyous smile lighting up her face, the tail of her braid fluttering in the warm afternoon air.

of skin and masterpieces
Peak Lord Shang is an old client of hers, one that San Xiu has worked with many times over the years — decades, actually.
One would not typically credit her to be among the population of immortal masters or long-lived practitioners of cultivation, simply because she isn’t actually a cultivator. And yet, San Xiu is going into her eighty-ninth year of life, still looking as if she’s only in her late twenties. Peak Lord Shang likes to comment dramatically on this, always telling her how she ages just like the finest of wines.
He always has been her favorite customer. And not just because of the flattery (Though, it does get him anywhere. And he knows it, too).
San Xiu is an artist, see. She knows what to look for to find the beauty in anything. Even in people. San Xiu knows a true masterpiece when she sees one. She knows what would make a perfect canvas for the most breathtaking paintings to ever grace the land, and she is unique about it, too.
San Xiu likes to be original. Her canvases come from what nature blesses her with, be it a full-scale landscape carved into the leftover healthy bark of a tree far past it’s lifetime, artful pastels glazed into ceramic baked from the clay straight out of the local riverbed, or even the soft and unblemished skin of one of the most powerful men this side of China.
That’s right. San Xiu considers Peak Lord Shang Qinghua to be her greatest masterpiece, of all the work of her entire career. He is exquisite, beautiful, miles and miles of soft and perfect canvas for her ink and her needles to paint all of her very best work into.
Peak Lord Shang Qinghua had come into San Xiu’s life when she was still only a teenager, just starting out in her chosen craft. Her parents had raised her correctly for a young miss, strictly tested on etiquette and drilled in the practices of the Six Arts. San Xiu had taken a liking to painting, when it had been shown to her as a little girl, and she had made it her own dream.
Her parents were proud of their daughter, a skilled artist. They might have been a little less proud and more scandalized, had they ever found out that San Xiu’s favorite canvas was the bare skin of a man.
Tattoos are a very contemporary art, viewed as lesser than painting and other mediums by some simply because they are only as long lived as the person they’re inked into, gone whenever the canvas dies. It’s one of the reasons why tattoo art isn’t taken as seriously. Another reason is because it is often very personal to the person whose skin bears it. In polite society, it’s not as if a person can take off their robes just to show off their tattoos. That would be such a scandal. Which is why, most of the time, paintings of the skin are not seen by anyone other than the artist and the canvas.
Not many artists tend to delve into tattooing for this very reason. Aside from the fact that it is far, far more difficult to master, mistakes cannot be discarded for a fresh canvas to try again. It is the medium of a perfectionist.
San Xiu had first encountered tattooing in an admittedly less-than savory establishment. An artist, she can’t remember the name of him now, had a parlour out of the back of a brothel. She honestly wouldn’t have been there in the first place, had she not heard the rumors and developed the gut feeling that she just had to track this artist down and see what exactly their work entailed.
She packed a few examples of her own work, rolled canvases slid into oiled tubes of leather that she strung over her back, and journeyed off into the night when her parents were occupied with some banquet or other that a lord a few towns over had been hosting.
That’s where she had first met Peak Lord Shang Qinghua.
He hadn’t been a peak lord then, not yet. He was, however, head disciple of a Cang Qiong Mountain Peak, which was already incredibly impressive. San Xiu can recall experiencing unfathomable awe and, even to this day, she had never really gotten over the feeling.
Truth to be told, Lord Shang’s power and standing wasn’t the only reason fifteen year old San Xiu had been so taken and impressed with him. It wasn’t even the biggest reason. No, the reason that Lord Shang had captured San Xiu’s attention, and had never lost it even in the decades after —
He's a masterpiece. Not even San Xiu’s, but a naturally occurring work of art. He’d been radiant and alluring even before San Xiu had ever dreamed of being allowed to put her hands on him.
She’d met him, head disciple Shang Fei, who would later become the much-lauded Master of Cang Qiong’s very own An Ding Peak, in an admittedly very shady tattoo artist’s workshop in the back of a brothel.
The artist had become jaded due to years of unappreciation for their art. It’s the biggest fear of any artist come to life. He had been on his last legs of his profession, all passion drained from him until he was sallow and indifferent to the world. He hadn’t even been interested in meeting with her, something that would have likely crushed a young San Xiu’s spirits by a significant amount if her fate hadn’t been written to lead someone else to her that night.
Shang Fei had held a faint look of disappointment on his face when she first saw him, stepping half into the door of the workshop. She had watched him as he surveyed the room and immediately seemed to realize that this wasn’t what he was looking for. She’d felt the same, herself, but had been struck speechless by the wave of sunset gold that tumbled down his back, shining a russet gold in the warm light of the fire lamps of the parlour. The top twirled neatly into a bun at the crown of his head, held together by two needles that gleamed their sharp danger when he tilted his face downward. The arch of his brow captivated her, the line of his jaw, the color of his eyes, the fold of his nondescript and yet obviously high-quality robes—
He’d looked like a painting of the most revered masters, come to life.
San Xiu knew instantly that she had to speak with him. He was a masterpiece, of the kind that an artist would spend their entire life in search of, and in that moment her most ardent wish was to show him her own. To have him gaze upon her paintings and give his verdict, one work of art judging his own kind.
It had been embarrassing in hindsight, but she’d stumbled up to him and asked if he’d go to a tea shop with her.
However mortifying her actions were, she is eternally glad that she had committed them.
Shang Fei had been so very taken with her paintings, perhaps just as taken as San Xiu was with his everything. He’d bought one off of her then and there, and they had spent three hours drinking tea in companionable conversation when he’d finally asked her what, exactly, she’d been doing in the back of the brothel.
Despite never having received the chance to interrogate the tattoo artist on his craft, San Xiu had still been able to catch a glimpse of his works, sitting sketched out and planned on his work table, and pinned to the walls of the shop. The gorgeous twists of the designs, the very real and tangible proof of a living art right in front of her — it had sparked a hunger in the center of San Xiu’s very being. So she told Shang Fei, she had approached the tattoo parlour because she wanted to join the practice herself.
Gods forbid her parents ever finding out.
Luckily, they never did.
Shang Fei had been even more interested in this bit of information than he had even over the painting he’d purchased. He’d told her she had a gift. That she had talent. That, if she learned the right methods and had the right materials and opportunities, he knew that she could become the best.
Such flattery, even back then. Lord Shang is a master of it. San Xiu still blushes, faintly, when she thinks of that night in the tea shop.
That might be, of course, because of the next thing that Shang Fei had said to her. He had reached across the table, taken her hand in his, looked her in the eye, and offered his body to her with all the seriousness of a man proposing marriage.
Oh, San Xiu had nearly died that night.
Shang Fei himself had seemed to immediately realize, as well, that his words could possibly be misconstrued. He’d turned a little pink in the face, a lovely color splashing lightly over his cheeks, and had quickly amended his offer, saying that he would make a good canvas for San Xiu to practice on until she masters the skills she yearns for.
Shang Fei, he said, was a cultivator well beyond his core formation. Any mistakes she made, he could remove himself and heal over so that it was like they’d never even existed.
And then, he said, “Wouldn’t it make it easier, if you knew some cultivation yourself?”
San Xiu had left for home again in the very early morning, a permanent correspondence address for An Ding peak tucked privately away into her robes, and head held high in excitement as the very first disciple of Peak Lord Shang Qinghua.
Of course, seeing as how he wasn’t actually Peak Lord yet, or even Qinghua, no one could ever know.
That was fine with San Xiu. She had no interest in joining a sect and training for a soulsword.
She is an artist.
Years have passed, rolling into decades. Shang Fei met her secretly, in the time between his duties as head disciple — and other obligations over which he was much more secretive about — as if it were some sort of affair, and San Xiu would work on his skin.
He’d been correct. He was the perfect canvas. Soft, supple, clear and pale. A pure expanse of unblemished emptiness for her to practice on. And, one day, she was promised the sole right to permanently leave her mark on that canvas, as soon as her skills met both of their standards.
By the time Shang Qinghua ascended into his position as Peak Lord, San Xiu met that standard. In celebration for both their achievements, Shang Fei (now Qinghua) and San Xiu had sat down together and planned out the first of San Xiu’s best works.
It winds gorgeously around his forearm, a beautiful Phoenix of gold and red pigments, of which she’d likely never have been able to acquire if not for Shang Qinghua’s benefaction. It’s wings bound to its body by a thorny vine, a rose clutched in its talons, tail feathers curled elegantly to end on the back of his hand. She has never been more proud of anything else in her life.
Decades followed, new masterpieces joining the phoenix on Peak Lord Shang’s flesh. Each and every one turns out breathtakingly gorgeous, almost as if they are made twice more beautiful than they would have otherwise, just for his skin being their canvas. As if Shang Qinghua blesses them, being a natural vision of true art himself, and makes it more.
San Xiu is an artist. And Shang Qinghua is her most beloved life’s work.
