The last chapter to the introduction work of Jailbreaking the Local Cryptid, Just Your Usual Tueesday is up!
And here is what my Batman and Robin (Dick Grayson) look like!
Time it took to draw: 8 hours
App used: Procreate
And here is a bonus image (slight spoilers for the end of my fic)
Tumblr media
Couldn't quite get Bruce right, but this was a quick sketch so it's alright. And for reference, Bruce is 23 in this fic and Robin is 13. And maybe it didn't exactly happen like this in the fic, but there is definitely background WonderBat.....
(Edit: When I first posted this it was going to be WonderBat, but it's now Aro/Ace Bat.)
Tune in next week for Batman joining the Justice League!

that time when Diana visited the manor to discuss some "JL matters" with Bruce but the boys already knew. before she headed out, Alfred invited her for tea time with Bruce and the boys (he did this on purpose so that everyone can bond). Jason was sitting across Diana on the table. Tim thought Jason might pass out so he had to kick him from under the table just to keep his awareness in check.
Bruce - So boys..... *just to break the silence, it wasn't awkward but it was clearly there* anything you wanna say-
all four of them said in unison-
Dick- Is Diana moving in soon?
Jason- CanyousignmyWonderWomanmerchandise please??? (did he just say that in one breath????)
Tim- What's your favorite type of coffee?
Damian- Diana, would you like to do some fencing with me?
everyone's reactions were ALL over the place:
Dick laughed at Jason and repeated, "Fangirl, fangirl!"
Jason's cheeks became so red because Dick was so annoying and he wanted to punch him so bad.
Tim gave Diana an apologetic smile while thinking "I should be drinking coffee, not tea."
Damian gave Diana a challenging look but not the strong or disrespectful type, more on he's waiting for her response.
Bruce sighed and rubbed circles on the side of his head, feeling a migraine coming soon.
Diana just giggled and smiled to the boys affectionately.
Diana ended up teaching some sword fighting moves to Damian (Damian thought he knew everything but ofc Wonder Woman knew way better) ;
Diana ended up narrating to Tim the different types of coffee she had in years which Tim took notes of while sipping coffee finally ;
Diana ended up signing a few of Jason's Wonder Woman posters ;
Lastly, Diana didn't answer Dick but just asked him how the Titans were on the space mission last week.
At the end of the day, they all watched as the Wonder Woman flew and disappeared from their sight. The boys then avoided Bruce's eyes to avoid being lectured at so they walked back to the family room together. Even though the day ended quite well, Bruce still had a migraine and just let the boys be. Alfred gave more tea to Bruce for the migraine.
[YUPPP another wonderbat + batfamily bc why not???]

W for the alphabet fandom meme ask game please 🥺👉👈
W - 5 favorite ships and 5 kinks you like best for said ships
HMMMMM SJSJ not safe for robins everyone --
1) superbat - praise kink. Bruce got called a good boy ONCE and couldn't form coherent sentences for weeks. I think BDSM would fit them too!! Specifically dominance and discipline. Bruce is def a brat and Clark would like to deal with that jssj
2) bruharvey - daddy kink. I mean. I MEAN. Bruce called him that One Time and now Harvey won't respond to anything else. I think size kink for these two as well!! I think they're on the rougher side (pain play, slapping, biting) but the aftermath is really sweet shsh
3) brutalia - choking!! Controversial opinion but I like to think they switch a lot? I'm just saying, Talia should have "I love a woman that can kick my ass" syndrome for Bruce. I think he'd stop every 5 minutes to make sure she's fine, which she finds annoyingly endearing shshs also handcuffs and cross-dressing
4) Wonderbat - soft femdom!! Also, she def has a thing for his voice, and he def has a thing for that lasso!! I can see edge play for them, but Bruce is too patient djd
5) Not a pairing bc I ran out, but, for all of them?? Breeding kink on Max

Comics this week:
DC
Superman #12: the end of the Pharm and Graft arc, which, although they weren't the most exiting villains, was pretty fun to read. I liked the role reversal between Clark and Lex with Lex being out in the field and Clark being the guy in the chair. Comic writers should remember that Clark is supposed to be super smart more often.
Amazons Attack #6: villain motivations fell flat at the end but I enjoyed the Nubia character work. I only wish Cassie and Yara (who now calls herself wonder girl... ugh) got the same amount of spotlight. Although I guess that at least they are also showing up in the main WW book. Anyway dc needs to have an AC run for WW characters, like Sensational Comics.
Alan Scott: Green Lantern #5: old man yaoi ❤️ also I knew legitimately nothing on Alan lore before this but I'm having a good time
Wonder Woman #7: Going by everything of King's I've read he truly knows how to write a good Superman. Not so much WW, but I actually enjoyed this issue the most out of everything else in this run so far. I love the wholesome friendship of Clark and Diana (I don't mind the idea of them having dated briefly in the past but imo superwonder work far better as friends, and the same thing goes for wonderbat and superbat). The lack of narration boxes was also a very welcome change.
Marvel
Ultimate Spiderman 2024 #1-3: I have never been a spiderman fan aside from watching the occasional movie or cartoon, but I really enjoyed this. It's a good start for new comic readers, since it offers a new spin to the story (Pater is older and married, Ben is alive, etc) while requiring no previous comic knowledge. I loved Peter and little May's relationship, and I'm very curious to see how the relationship between Peter and Harry is going to unfold.
Ultimate X-Men #1: This is literally just "marvel does jjba part 4" (although the first thing I thought of when I saw the armor was the suzanno). I'm not an x-men reader, which is just as fine because this isn't an x-men book, but rather a manga. I can see myself picking up issue two.
Indie
Helen of Wyndhorn #1: This is from the same team as Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow (Tom King, Mat Lopes, Bilquis Evely), aka my favourite comic of all time, and it truly feels like a successor to that. I wish I could eat Evely's art. The only thing that makes me mad is that TK isn't putting the same enegry in his current WW run

10 Reasons to Ship Loki/Catwoman
A Nondefinitive & Cracky GodCat Rundown
Tumblr media
1. He’s a god of thieves. Loki’s a Norse god with a long ancient list of patronage areas: mischief, tricks, lies, chaos, outcasts, the devil, death, and more … including, sometimes, thieves. THIEVES. It’s not mentioned often, but it’s around. Besides, mischief, chaos, and trickery tend to involve crime. Be Loki. Wear helmets. Do crimes. And consider hanging out with an anti-hero who still kinda gets it, because:
2. She’s a master cat burglar. Catwoman’s one of the most-recognizable cat burglars on Earth/Midgard, so that's kismet on the thieves thing. But she also vibes with the mischief thing, and sometimes with lies and tricks, too. Even with the outcasts thing. Definitely the anti-heroes thing. Plus, neither Selina nor Loki is an expert on trust, or family, or How to Feelings™ — and there’s nothing shippier than mutual angst!
3. Oops! All banter. Loki and Catwoman can banter for days. Weeks. Years. Loki plays with everybody, but not many characters really mischief him back. Catwoman would, though; it’s like, her thing. She’s sassy (*cue rando yelling from offscreen* feisty, eh?!), full of nicknames, and although she can’t exactly kick a god’s ass twelve days from Sunday, Loki might ask her to try anyway. (The old Batman rule applies there: did Catwoman have time to plan ahead, or have the element of surprise?! Heists require planning and improv, after all.) As such:
4. MatuRe CoNteNt. These two might never leave the bedroom to steal anything, possibly because of the aforementioned ass-kicking. If anybody can make Loki kneel and say thank you ma’am may I have another, probably while he’s laughing about it alllllllmost the entire time, it’s Catwoman. (Strangely wholesome mature content, right front of my anti-hero sandwich?! I ain’t mad at it.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Loki's ye-olde-eyebrow gif from abby118!
5. Just two pros being pros. Erm, how do I put this delicately? Loki and Catwoman are, generally-speaking, both highly-sexualized, often-objectified characters. (More so for Catwoman in a way, sigh, but … that’s a whole ‘nuther topic.) Give ‘em a break, y’all: let the oversexualized bunnies get it on together! They’re both adults. They’ve both been around (comics) forever. And look, maybe a woman shouldn’t have to constantly chase a bat who doesn’t want to be caught — and vice-versa, frankly! Cats have needs, okay? Maybe magical, complicated, industry-crossing needs! (Did Loki write this one himself?! I wouldn’t put it past him.)
6. The nine lives thing. A word about the god/mortal power imbalance here: yeah, I don’t love that. But aside from Loki just sorta letting Catwoman hang around because they amuse each other, or because there are plenty of uh, other aforementioned reasons to level their playing-field *snort*, there are also plenty of Catwoman canons floating around in which she’s not entirely mortal. Sometimes she has nine lives, which puts her in the venn diagram hinterlands of magical comic characters with an extended lifespan. Interesting! (This concept was even brought back recently, comics-wise.)
7. Representation? (This one’s thorny because it’s never treated well in canon. The world is poorly-formed. :/ I hope we can form it better.) Loki and Catwoman may also vibe, perhaps, because they both have a canonic bi history. (I mean … Loki is canonically everything so it depends on the canon one’s talking about, but nevertheless.) I’m not really the appropriate person to bring Bi!GodCat content into the world, but it does make sense! Love them however they identify!
8. The Wonder connection. But what about Batman, you ask? What about his dark little heartstrings, you inquire? Well, hear me out here: if Loki/Catwoman, then maybe … Batman/Wonder Woman? (Why yes, I do like things about BatCat, and WonderBat, and GodCat! There are infinite ships in my ancient harbor, mes amis; I’m quite unbothered by multiple ship options. My skin is clear. My crops are watered and rotated.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
9. Knife mates. Both of these anti-hero tricksters are stabby. (Meaning: they sometimes favor the short blades.) Together, they make a dagger duo. Stib-stabs. Pointy sharpersons. WOMEN MADE OF KNIVES/MEN ALSO MADE OF KNIVES.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Loki stab-gif from youlackconviction!
10. Multiple AU fix-it options. When canon inevitably disappoints, one can always go to the headcanon mountain. Catwoman steals Loki from a prisondungeon. Catwoman steals Loki from the TVA. Catwoman keeps Loki alive and he feels acidically/obnoxiously grateful about it, plus other things. Loki vibes with Selina's trust issues and (complainingly) assists her heists with magic; maybe they even grow to be friends, or learn what love is like is between two similar souls. Perhaps their team-up helps get other Marvel/DC types out of a few high-powered jams. (Or else they just steal from them, heh; the options are many.) *steeples fingers* And so disappointment was solved forever, by expecting nothing from official channels. And also AUs.

Hello good. I would like to ask a question. How much was the collection of the New52 comics? Also part of the shared Superman/Wonder Woman stories. Compared to Rebirth's current win stats. I say this because there are a lot of fans of Wonderbat, Clois, etc. Weary in changing the narrative and reality, and I would like to know since DC comics currently suffer from low sales and threaten to close the comic book publisher.
You can go to Comic Book Revolution who do analysis of DC's sales.
Look at Chart Sales and Rankings numbers and analysis and it will tell you how poorly Superman and Wonder Woman books currently are doing. DC's best seller has always been and still is Batman.
So don't take our word for it, the stats are there. Twitter is full of trolls and bots and people who do not buy comics. Their opinions are opinion. Not necessarily what the real picture is when it comes to what sells.
Anyway here are excerpts taken for Superman and Wonder Woman for May 2023 from the site.
The Superman franchise had zero titles in the Top 10, one title in the Top 25, and four titles in the Top 50. This was the same as April 2022 when the Superman franchise had zero titles in the Top 10, one title in the Top 25, and four titles in the Top 50. Year-over-year numbers were up as the xx franchise had zero titles in the Top 10, one title in the Top 25, and one title in the Top 50 in May 2022.
Superman #4 held steady by only dropping from the number 18 spot to the number 20 spot. DC Comics desperately needs Superman to remain a consistent Top 25 title.
Power Girl Special #1 debuted in the number 31 spot. That is not bad considering that this one-shot issue shipped in the last week of May 2023! This does not surprise me. Everyone loves Power Girl!
Adventures of Superman Jon Kent #3 barely clung to the Top 50 as it dropped from the number 32 spot down to the number 48 spot. It is a lock that this title will exit the Top 50 with the next issue. The big question will be if Adventures of Superman Jon Kent can conclude its six-issue limited series in the Top 75.
Action Comics #1055 climbed up from the number 67 spot to the number 54 spot. This is due to the fact that Action Comics #1054 shipped in the final week of April 2023. This is still far from the number 24 sales ranking that Action Comics #1052 got in March 2023.
I had my concerns about Action Comics once it was announced that it would be an anthology title. We just do not usually see any anthology title enjoy much sales success. DC Comics absolutely needs Action Comics to be a consistent Top 50 seller. It will be demoralizing if most of the DC Comics’ Dawn of DC titles sink out of the Top 50.
Superman Lost #3 fell from the number 53 spot and out of the Top 75 and down to the number 78 spot. It appears that many readers are not interested in Christopher Priest’s offering. These sales rankings would indicate that Superman Lost will probably conclude its ten-issue mini-series outside of the Top 150.
Superboy The Man of Tomorrow #2 is the dog of the Superman franchise as it fell from the number 46 spot and out of the Top 100 and down to the number 104 spot. I cannot say that I am surprised. I love Conner Kent’s character so much. But, DC Comics’ decision to grossly regress Conner’s character in favor of elevating Jon Kent is clearly not appealing to readers. At this rate, this six-issue mini-series may not conclude inside of the Top 175.
We have always given Wonder Woman her own franchise section in these comic sales rankings articles. However, given that DC Comics has reduced Wonder Woman to just one title, I have decided to fold Wonder Woman into the “Justice League Franchise” section. Once DC Comics makes more of an investment in the Wonder Woman franchise and gives it multiple titles then we will break her out into her own franchise section again.”
In other words WW is not doing well.
They have done analysis for both DC and Marvel for each month so you can go back and see how the sales for Superman and Wonder Woman have been.
There is also Comichron and The Beat who offers analysis and numbers if one wants more evidence.

Lynda Carter joined tumblr -- and gets it.  Then Kevin Conroy died, which spurred me to re-watch Justice League and sob a little. I know Lynda didn’t do Diana’s voice but there’s still convergence over my fav ship from JL happening here.
In sum, new plot bunnies have been released into the wild, I am going to get back to my wonderbat fic this winter (I wrote like 4 pages today, instead of doing Yavin fic (sorry guys)).  I was off conferencing this week, so my Yavin fic chapter is gonna be late, but I’m at the point where I might start dropping multi-chapter blocks of fic to finish it off.

Slow Dance
Happy Valentine's Day y'all. Here's an entry for the WonderBat JukeBox event. The song I based this on was Slow Dance by Kelly Clarkson. If you haven't heard it, I would definitely recommend. And when I get back to a space where I can spend some time writing more, I definitely will do more things based on some songs that remind me of our favorite Bat/Amazon duo. Hope you like!
Tumblr media
He wasn't at all like what I was expecting.
When I had arrived on Man's World, when I had joined the Justice League along with the six other individuals who had saved the Earth from The Invasion, I had little expectations. I knew nothing other than Themyscira, my home, my family, the only paradise I had spent my days on. I knew nothing of the men and women with extraordinary abilities, fighting for justice and peace, keeping the citizens of Earth safe. I knew nothing of the extraordinary people with no abilities, risking their lives to help protect those who had no means to protect themselves. I knew nothing about the people of Man's World, but over time I had learned what to expect.
Over time I had learned what drove the people of this world, their reasonings for the way they perceived things, their intentions for how they acted. Over time I had become accustomed to the way people acted, how they treated others, the personas they displayed. Over time I had come to care for the people the League protected, and over time I had come to accept the League members as my family. A dysfunctional family, but one nonetheless.
I had learned what to expect with every member of the League - well almost every member. There was still the one who had escaped every chance he could get, sneaking out of Founder meetings, ignoring what he deemed non-essential calls, keeping himself hidden in the shadows of Gotham, prioritizing the city that had become his one true love. The first few months I had known The Batman, I had thought him to be just another dysfunctional man, hidden behind the trauma that forced him to wear the cape and cowl, fighting for a city that didn't want to be saved. But the more I learned about The Batman, the more I discovered the man underneath, the more I realized it was further from the truth.
Nothing made that discovery even more surprising than when I had learned the truth behind the man in the mask. Seeing Bruce's name for the first time, knowing that had been the man who had avoided getting close to me for so long, had sparked something in me I hadn't realized initially, but the more I saw him, the more I got to glimpse the dark cape in the halls of the Watchtower, the cowl scowling at me across the table at Founder's meetings, the more I felt drawn to him.
Then came Paris.
I had come to Paris knowing Bruce would be there. I knew who he was, who he truly was, and I wanted to finally talk to him, face to face, without the pressures of the League. I wanted to talk to him without the mask. I wanted him to know The Batman did not scare me, and I had marched into that party, ignoring the flashing of all the cameras, my mind focused on finding the man I had flown across the world for. But everything changed the moment I heard his voice. My heart had fluttered when he grabbed my hand and led me away from the cameras and reporters, twirling me to face him as he began to sway to the music. All the planned arguments I had concocted up to this point seemed to vanish from my mind as I danced with him.
Suddenly all the preconceived opinions I had once had of the man melted away. While we danced in Paris, I noticed something I hadn't noticed before. I was able to look into Bruce's eyes for the first time since stepping into Man's World, and what I saw made my heart hurt for the man. The pain hidden in his eyes was unlike nothing I had seen before. This man was in agony, his soul fighting with his body, the smirk on his face wavering as we continued to dance.
Then, later that week, when I had fallen and had been rendered unconscious, I still remember the fear in his voice as he woke me, worried I had been hurt far worse than I actually had been. I had seen a different side to Bruce, and I would stop at nothing until I saw that part of him once more.
Countless stakeouts, missions, flirty late night coffee breaks during monitor duty had only strengthened the bond between us. He was the one person I trusted most.
"Is everything alright?"
My eyes dart up to Bruce's face, watching as the man across from me takes a sip from the wine glass in his hand. I give him a slight nod and finish chewing the bite I had taken before Bruce had asked his question, before I take a sip from my own glass of wine. "Everything is wonderful," I answer, flashing him a small smile.
Bruce nods and places his glass of wine near his empty plate, his hand lingering on the glass as the nerves he has been trying desperately to suppress all night show through. "Good. I'm glad you are enjoying yourself."
I flash Bruce another small smile and let myself give him another small nod. "I'm glad you finally made good on your promise to take me dancing," I say, smirking as he attempts to stare me in the eye, trying not to get caught staring at the strapless red dress that falls just above my knees. "Although I thought there'd be a lot more dancing."
Bruce chuckles nervously. "As I recall," he begins as he shifts in his seat. "It was you who declared I owed you a night of dancing."
"And yet we still remain seated."
I watch as Bruce nods and glances down at his glass of wine. He's stalling, trying to find a way to set up the wall I've been chipping away at since coming home from Kaznia. "Diana," he warns, his voice wavering as he debates whether to give in to the internal struggle going on in his mind.
"Bruce," I reply, warning him with my tone. When he asked me to dinner tonight I knew it was time to explore what had been hidden there since day one. In such a short time, Bruce had become my best friend, and I knew I was, if not close to being, his. Even Clark had commented on our growing friendship, stating it had taken Bruce years to trust him enough to form a friendship, when it had only taken us a few months. I knew I could trust Bruce with anything and I wanted to make sure he knew he could trust me as well.
"You know we're walking a very fine line," Bruce states, his eyes moving up to meet mine.
"Why must there be a line?" I question. He opens his mouth to respond but I shake my head and continue, "You know there's something more between us, Bruce."
Bruce sighs. He doesn't deny my statement. There is something more between us, in some regards there has always been, but I'm curious to see just how far he's willing to discuss. The Bruce I had met in Paris would have shut this conversation down the moment we walked into the restaurant arm in arm.
"You and I, Diana, is a bad idea."
I only shake my head and chuckle. "No, leaving my home and getting myself exiled was a bad idea. But I'm trying to find the positive in it and making it work out." I lean back and fold my arms over my chest. "The same can be said for you and I."
Bruce lets out another sigh. He bites the inside of his cheek, trying to find the words to respond to what I've just said. "You don't understand," he begins. "Being with me is not easy."
"Neither is just being your friend," I tease. I watch as he tries to keep himself from smiling. This man needs to let himself feel happiness, and I'm all too willing to help him achieve it. I lower my voice and lean in. "This facade gives me whiplash," I whisper, watching as his eyebrow raises in confusion.
"What does that mean?" he asks, his voice in a hushed tone.
I only give him a small shrug. "You know what I mean. Bruce Wayne," I say, emphasizing his last name, "is known for his confident, powerful, demeanor." My eyes close as I take a small breath, opening them to see the man across from me waiting for what else I have to say. "But Bruce Wayne…."
He nods his head. I don't need to finish my statement. Like so many of our conversations, this one ends with an all too knowing look - it's one of the reasons we work so well. Never have I felt this connected with someone, let alone a man from Man's World.
I let out a small sigh and place my hand on the table, opening it, glaring at Bruce until he glances down at my open hand. "Can I at least get a dance?"
Bruce gives me a small smile and nods his head as he places his hand in mine. "I think I can do that." He stands from his seat and moves around the table, my hand still in his as I rise from my seat. He leads me to the dance floor, where a few couples have been dancing throughout the night, and turns me to face him. "But be warned, I'm not as good of a dancer as people think."
"Don't worry," I say, a smirk on my face. "We can take it slow, and I'll show you how to slow dance." I give him a small wink which earns a smirk in response.
He places a hand on the small of my back and pushes me close, our chests meeting as he begins to slowly sway to the soft jazz filling the room. We dance in silence for the first song. I find myself casually running my hand up his arm, gently stroking his back as we move in unison.
"Everyone is looking at us," I say, my cheeks a shade of bright pink as I try to avoid the multiple stares from other patrons I can see over Bruce's shoulder.
Bruce glances over my shoulder and shakes his head. "Everyone is looking at you," he says as his hand pushes at my back, pulling me closer.
A small gasp escapes my lips as our bodies push tighter together. His hand is possessively on my back as he glances toward the door, his eyes narrowing as he silently tells the men staring our way there is a reason their hands aren't the one currently on my back. The one making its way higher up my back, leaving my skin tingling as I feel his fingertips dance along my spine.
"They're probably staring at Bruce Wayne so unkempt," I joke once more, letting my hands fall to the tie around his neck that has been pulled loose several times throughout dinner tonight. "Everyone is probably waiting in fear to see if you're philandering will result in another inappropriate display."
Bruce lets out a hearty laugh. The sound forces a smile on my lips and my heart flutters. "That was one time," he explains, "and it wasn't by choice."
I nod, pretending to be understanding. "Of course," I say, feigning sympathy. "I, too, feel the need to be in the nude in the middle of a gala."
Bruce clears his throat and continues to stare over my shoulder, trying to appear as if what I have just said has no effect. "That's not what happened," he says, his lips pursing in thought. "Remind me to never leave you alone with Alfred again."
I let out a laugh and gently pat his chest. "I'm only joking, Bruce," I say, gently stroking his face, forcing the frown that has settled on his face to disappear. "In all fairness, this has been a great evening, and I'm glad you finally took me dancing."
"In all fairness, we should have done this much sooner." He slows his swaying, his hands stilling on my back as he leans back to look me in the eye.
I stare into Bruce's eyes, the tight feeling that has been plaguing the pit of my stomach everytime I look at Bruce, returning. I know I didn't press Bruce for any kind of promise to be more than friends, and he may not return the feelings I have, but at the moment all I can think about is how soft his lips look in the subtle light of the restaurant. Before I know what I'm doing, I lean toward Bruce, the thought of kissing him silencing any thoughts of what this would mean.
Bruce places a hand on my neck, slowing the path of my lips, giving himself plenty of time to retreat if this is not what he wants. To my surprise, he leans closer to me, his thumb gently stroking my cheek as his line of vision falls from my eyes to my lips.
Our lips grow closer, the air around us suddenly feeling thicker. Our lips are a mere inch from colliding when Bruce freezes, his attention moving from my face to his chest, where an insistent alarm has begun to sound from his jacket pocket. He pulls the alarming device from his jacket pocket, his eyes glancing up to meet mine as he shows me the signal of The Batman flashing on the small screen.
And just like that our night is over. He is needed in Gotham.
"It's okay," I whisper. My hand gently strokes his cheek when I see the pained expression on his face. "Go ahead, Bruce."
He nods and silences the alarm, glancing at the screen for a moment before he places the device back into his pocket. "I'll make it up to you," he whispers as he pulls away from me.
I give him a small nod. "I expect nothing less," I say with a smirk, watching him turn on his heel before I turn back toward our table. I take a step toward the table when someone grabs my arm and turns me around. Before I can protest, Bruce's lips are on my own, his hand on the back of my head keeping me locked in place, not that I would even attempt to escape.
His lips are as soft as I had imagined. His hands, calloused from years fighting crime, are somehow soft against my skin, gently caressing my cheeks and the base of my neck as he allows himself to relax. The kiss is over just as quickly as it began, but it has done its job. This one kiss has made it clear the feelings I have for Bruce are not one sided.
"We'll talk when I get done," he promises. I nod and watch as he releases his hold on me, before he turns and runs toward the front door of the restaurant, grabbing the credit card from our waiter he had given as we had started our meal.
I quickly return to the table and grab my purse, letting the smile on my lips linger as I glance over at the seat Bruce had occupied for the night. I turn on my heel and walk out of the restaurant, activating my comlink to ask J'onn to transport me back to the Watchtower. I connect with J'onn as the Batsignal begins to shine bright against the dull cloud covered sky of Gotham, smiling as I am transported back to the space station that houses most of the League members.
As I walk back to my quarters I can't help but run my finger along my bottom lip, remembering the feeling of Bruce's lips on my own, the taste of the red wine he had consumed with dinner still lingering. The door to my quarters slides open and I walk inside, letting it slide closed behind me. As I undress for the night, thoughts of Bruce and our dinner consume my mind, my lips curled into a constant smile. This was not how I had imagined the night going, but I'm glad Bruce at least now seemed open to the thought of an idea of us.
Bruce Wayne was definitely not who I had ever imagined I would have had feelings for. I had never anticipated falling for this man, never imagined the slow burning affection that would culminate into something deeper. I never thought the man who hid in the shadows would have become the first person I would think of in the morning. I never imagined the man who hid his true nature from the world to be the one I spilled my deepest secrets to. No, Bruce Wayne and all his chaos wasn't at all like I was expecting. He was, in fact, much better.

I was tagged by @crepuscularqueens thank you! To share:
Three ships: Echo (to no one’s astonishment -probably), Forwood (I mean they’re just so good, especially for a teenaged CW couple- truly relationship goals), Stellatrix (what’s not to love about scary-crazy-lesbians?)
First ship: I don’t know for certain, but probably somewhere between Percabeth (percy jackson/annabeth chase) and Wonderbat (I mean they’re THE power couple, little me would be proud I found Echo)
Last song: How Long Will I Love You by Ellie Goulding
Last movie: Avatar: The Way of Water
Currently reading: I just got The House of the Spirits (if you know why, don’t judge)
Currently watching: I just restarted Bridgerton like an insane woman, and am about to start Blacksails this week (ai’m just so bad about watching new shows)
Currently consuming: nothin’
Currently craving: to get off the clock so I can make a thing that’s stuck in my head (to the above mentioned song)
no pressure tags @thesquidkid @maddiebuckleymybeloved @infjreaper597 @ajna-eye-cogitations and anyone else who might want to participate consider yourself tagged by me <3

So I was reminded earlier of how much I just REALLY don't like BatmanxCatwoman - and I'm sorry, it 's a pairing that just doesn't work for me. Or at least, it doesn't in the Batman media I've actually watched (which is primarily the animated stuff).
It doesn't help that I don't care for most Catwoman interpretations, since I've always been pretty annoyed by her and her tendency to backstab. The whole 'will they, won't they' thing with her and Bruce also quickly gets old imo
Alternatively, I may just be too ace for this pairing, as every time they're in a scene together the film/show's directors always seem to crank up the horniness/kinkiness - and I'm sorry, but the way they do it always squicks me out. It's not even the spiciness in general, it's just the way they do it.
So yeah, I've never seen a version of this pairing that appeals to me. Maybe I missed out on a good version somewhere when I skipped out on the Nolan-verse and Bat-Pattinson movies. But based on what I HAVE seen - give me WonderBat or BrucexHarveyDent any day of the week.

Weekly Fic Rec 38
I had a nice stretch of PTO this week, so I got some good fic reading in (along with a lot of birding and an 8 mile hike, LOL). I also hope all of you have been enjoying some of the lovely Superbat art coming out of NYCC BECAUSE I HAVE.
Anyway, on to the fics!
Losing You by starshotplagues - Superbat, complete. I remember reading this fic when I first started reading Superbat fics. I've wanted to reread it for a while now, but I couldn't find it UNTIL NOW. I was so pleased :) A get together fic featuring these two learning how to communicate.
the privilege is mine by starshotplagues - Superbat, complete. A short sequel to the previous fic. Bruce says "I love you" first and has a lot of Feelings about it.
A kindred bond by Nyszu - Superbat, wip. An update to the Bruce gets kidnapped by Evil Superman fic. (Good) Clark is experiencing some guilt, and Bruce is Really Going Through It.
If You're Offering by Noknownname - Superbat/Wonderbat/Superwonderbat, wip. A lovely smutty fic where Bruce and Clark help Diana out with a magic user. Also, alien biology, my beloved.
The Seats of Stars by JUBE514, SalParadiseLost - Batfam/Superfam/Superbat (eventually), wip. A really, really cool fantasy/royalty/medieval au where the Superfam is royalty, the Batfam are centars, and both work together.
a world in repair by Batbirdies - Batfam, complete. Jason and Damian try to go on a vacation/road trip together, but hidden injuries and feelings cause a few road bumps. They work on it though, Bruce helps too :) Part of the Emotional Motion Sickness series.
a song came after by susiecarter - Superbat, complete. Bruce was trapped in a simulation where he was married to Clark, and deals with not being in the simulation anymore. Much feelings are had afterwards.
Padam Padam by frozenpotions - Superbat, complete. A fic based off this Tumblr post. A delight to read from beginning to end.
Red Hood's Barbie Dream House by Sparkypants - Batfam, complete. Jason gets shrunk to the size of a barbie. Shenanigans ensue.
Welcome to Batburger, home of the Batburger, can I take your order please? by Sparkypants - Batfam, complete. Bruce doesn't like Batburger, but his kids love it. Bruce loves his kids, so he goes to Batburger.
The Return by lurkinglurkerwholurks - Batfam, complete. What happens after Bruce comes back from being lost in time.
a sky of honey by TheResurrectionist - Superbat, wip. More of the omegaverse Superbat fic. OH MY GOD I LOVE UNCLE LEX. That is all :) :) :) :)
Two Birds, One Stone(d) by MichaBerry - Batfam, complete. Tim gets accidently high on a drug bust that goes a bit off course. Shenanigans (and Feelings) ensue.
A Meditation on Railroading by eggmacguffin - Batfam, complete. Tim has A Bad Time with Jack in Atlanta and travels back to Gotham by himself. Much shenanigans and many family feels ensue.
borderline by TheResurrectionist - Batfam, wip. The most recent update to this fic had me by the THROAT. And there's one more chapter left!!!! And it looks like there is going to be a series too!!!
I'm a Good Pretender series by shipNslash - Batfam, complete. A FANTASTIC series about Battinson taking in Dick as a ward. Bruce is his socially awkward self, and Dick is delightfully (and manipulatively) charming. They learn how to trust each other and become a family. The next fic in the series is from Jim Gordan's POV, and the third has Jason! I devoured this series in an afternoon, it was so good!
Happy reading!!
