CW; BOOK 7 SPOILERS IN LILIA'S PART (if you dont want to read it, skip the first and second paragraph!!!)
🦇 LILIA VANROUGE
Lilia never really had time for romance. Between the war and the constant paranoia of being on the receiving end of an ambush, he never let himself lower his walls - to truly form an intimate bond with somebody that wasn't immediate family.
Infact, during the war, falling in love was one of the worst things that could happen: It meant having an open weakness. And if that person never came back, you wouldn't have time to wallow in despair since they'd immediately call you next to the front lines. It was one of the worst things to happen to somebody, and Lilia, therefore, found no interest in bonding in such a way. It would be truly unwise, especially since he had to lead an army. He'd have to split his attention between the army and the partner of choice, and he wasn't gonna add to his workload just for fun.
Now, it's all different. Times have changed, and instead of worrying about whether you'll survive the day tomorrow and what you will eat, you worry if your homework is due today or tomorrow at midnight, and if the test's results are gonna be coming back soon. Yes, almost everything has changed, but Lilia never really let his past ways go. Old habits die hard, as they say. (Especially after Meleanor and Levan...)
Well, they did until he met you. Sure, it wasn't love at first sight - more like, interest at first sight. But with time, he truly did feel as though you were an old friend. With time, he started letting his walls down and truly enjoy life with somebody beside him.
Now, he knew of your little crush on him. Why? Well, it was quite obvious. The way you'd fidget when you were around him, or how your eyes seemed to shine when you saw him loitering around in your peripherals. Yes, it was quite obvious. But on the other side, his own affection was, on your end, left unnoticed. It was fun to flawlessly conceal his own beating heart and the blinding grin he'd let out whenever you gave him a compliment - while also, at the same time, giving you mixed signals. He'd have no hand in you later realizing he was a lot more buddy-buddy with blurred boundaries with you than others, even though he denied all allegations. The game of cat and mouse was just too amusing, and he wanted to keep it going for as long as he could.
Everything you did drew him in, and your sweetness left him wanting for more. In his old age, he didn't feel like he should indulge in this, but your honeyed smile and warm embrace held a tight grip on his heart, and so he relented. The heart wants what it wants, he'd say.
Well, for as long as he could, that's true. He knew it would have to end someday, but it would've been better on his own accord. Well, he'd muse. Guess the fun has to finish one day. And today's the day, as much as he may loathe it, somewhat.
Recently, you've been hanging out with someone. He didn't even bother remembering their name, as they were so unimportant he just didn't feel like even putting the minimal effort to put an identity to that face. He didn't want to be petty, but when the person's "hanging out" times bled into his own alone time with you, that truly did the trick. Behind a toothy smile hid a thin-veiled annoyance that stuck to him like tar and ink. It made his nose twitch in annoyance, but he quickly smoothed it all over and kept his composure. He'd let the person have their fun with you for a while, but if they overstepped they'd be done for.
But at the same time, he'd started doubting himself. If he were his past self, he'd be absolutely scandalized that he'd let himself stoop so low as to not trust his own instinct, and he was sure that you were still somewhat interested in him, but the way you kept spending time with that person, and the way you'd immediately stop everything and help them, and the way you'd share laughs with them almost like you did with him... It was getting increasingly harder to keep his calm. (he's in denial, he was never calm.)
Next course of action? Talk to you. For the first time in a while - he'd open up to you, and tell you what he truly felt. He didn't want to be the one to talk about this, but since the problem wasn't going away, he'd have to take drastic measures. At the time he was sure you did like him back, but now it was all up in the air due to that uninvited variable. Maybe he was still sour about the game you were playing with him having an early end. (No, he's sour about someone trying to steal you away. But he knew that very well.)
And that leads to... Right now. The wind seemed to be trying to soothe him, but his thoughts were entirely elsewhere. On another dimension, where he thought about the way you talked to him and the way you always seemed joyous with him. But... Maybe he read it wrong? He scoffed at his own insecurity, but in a silent, small part of his mind... He'd still think about it. No one can grow if they don't admit they're wrong once in a while, yeah? Even though he thought he did all the growth he needed in his youth. Guess there's always room for improvement.
His bat refined hearing immediately picked up on you jogging over to him, and he quickly went back to his bright persona, but unlike with others, it was a little more relaxed. Dare I say, more real.
Your beaming smile, and your soft demeanor made him feel a little less on edge, and he thought that maybe, it'd be alright. That you truly did see something in him. He loathed being so vulnerable, but this wasn't a war zone. You wouldn't mercilessly use him and his feelings, you weren't the kind of person to do that. So, he waited for you.
On your end, you were excited to see Lilia. With all the hanging around you did with your new lab partner you'd been randomly paired with, you hadn't had time to give him the attention you desperately wanted to give him. He wasn't used to you not spending every bit of your day with him, you'd joke to yourself. Maybe he will demand an explanation, with a dramatic flair, of course. He'd always had a penchant for the theatrics.
But the moment you stepped in front of him, you noticed... something, in his expression. Now, everyone who'd hear you say that would side eye you because, on what basis are you saying that? Well... The vibe was off. He wasn't as cheerful as usual, and with how long you've been talking with him, you knew a few of his tells. All of this, on what basis? Well, on a best friend basis, of course. Even though, you'd prefer a title more intimate... But that's something that no one will catch you dead saying.
"My dear bestie!" And thus, his theatrics ensued. You cringed a bit at his use of modern slang, but it was endearing nonetheless.
You chuckled a bit but still greeted him with a quick "Hi Lilia!", afterwards - addressing the elephant in the room. "What's up? Any news?" You inquired.
His grin beamed, and he played up his tone of voice, making it a bit exxagerated. "Oh there is something up!" You definitely agreed with him. Something was up. And it was something wrong.
"Yeah? What is it?"
"You left me alone for oh so long! You'd do that to a cutie like me?" Why was he being so weird?
You were a bit put off by him acting so weird. "Lilia, what's really up? Please tell me."
His face soured, and the thin curtains opened for a second. You saw how he was internally berating himself for something, and how he was truly annoyed. It was a mix and match of emotions that you didn't quite get, so you waited for Lilia to explain himself when he'd be comfortable doing so. The curtains closed, and his eyes kept boring holes into you.
"What do you mean? I'm perfectly okay!"
You bit your lip, and tilted your head slightly. "Come on, what's up?" You squinted your eyes, and he decided that enough was enough, no more games.
"Do you like your new friend?"
The question shocked you, but you didn't let it show. Looking at his face... It didn't seem like he was joking... What was the best course of action? You didnt know, but you decided to stall the conversation to understand what was going on.
Your question was probably futile, but you tried anyway. "As a friend?"
"You know what I meant."
You glanced around, and feeling a bit embarrassed you tried to reason with him. "Come on Lilia, I-" The cutoff was quick, and he immediately asked the question again.
"Do you?"
He wouldn't let it go if you didn't tell him the truth. And so, with a bit of red dusted on your cheeks, you answered his query.
"No, I don't."
The silence was overbearing, and the way Lilia studied you made you want to hide in a hole and forget all of this. But you soldiered on, keeping a brave face and waiting for his move.
His eyes seemed to light up after a while, and you let out a breath you didn't know you were holding.
"Why so tense?" His light chuckles helped to alleviate the tension in the air, but you still thought that maybe... It was time to pop the question.
Lilia would've never, ever seen that coming. "Now why would I answer that first? You first-"
"Do you like me?"
And with renewed courage, you answered.
"I do."
His shock shined through, and he dropped all notions of dancing around the topic. His jaw was almost ajar, and he looked at you like a newborn hearing the sounds of nature for the first time.
Then, his grin came back at full force. But this version... It was sweeter. Like a childhood blanket enveloping you. Or your favorite candy from your childhood.
"I love you too."
And with that, he held your hand and smiled at you, the best smile you'd ever seen. He didn't need to know who was near you all the time, because he knew your heart belonged to him. And so did his, to you.
BONUS
("I knew it! Never shall I doubt my instincts again!"
"Uh oh... Your ego grew 10x in size."
"You say that, but you're still here!"
"Yeah, I am <3" )
🦇

Being from the slums isn't for the weak hearted, to put it lightly. Falling in love was a luxury few could afford - while sharing meals with somebody and having more manpower sounded cool and all, you're never truly sure if the other will one day just up and go with all the stuff you've gathered. Ruggie never wanted to gamble when it came to his belongings, so he didn't take the risk during those times. When he came to Night Raven College, he still found no reason to fall in love, it wasn't like people would really lower their walls easily, and he didn't feel like putting all the effort in doing just that. Plus, everyone was all so slimy, and to love you'd have to also lower your own walls - no doubt they'd take advantage of him. Overall, not an advantageous position, so no way.
🐆 RUGGIE
That's what he used to think. You... changed his view, somewhat. Of course, he didn't fall immediately like some fairytale. Unlearning all his instincts would be a death wish, and that would've been an insult to every hyena and beastman that was from the streets - he just had a bit of interest. He knew the stakes, so he didn't try his luck too much.
You showed him kindness, a warmth that was rarely, if ever, genuine. You weren't a happy go lucky like those snobs from Royal Sword Academy, but you weren't exactly gloomy either. You were, different. You showed him a world he'd never dreamt of seeing, and you were way too in the role to be lying to him. Still, being cautious was never a wrong move.
To be honest, his first thoughts were to just use your kindness. He, at the time, held no hard feelings about taking advantage of you. Lets be real, he never expected someone to just blatantly give him some warmth and not be expecting him to not even have at least one thought about what he could do with that, and not in a nice way.
But you were clever. You didn't let him take any chances, and you didn't let him backstab you. You were always one step ahead, and to his attempts at stealing and using you? You didn't bat one eye. He should've been deterred, but... Why? why are you making him feel so protective over you? Was it a mishap during potionology? What's this... warmth?
With time, he began to begrudgingly accept your kindness as it is, with no catches. He didn't try to find any flaws in your walls, and didn't try to use you as much as before. Food was game, though. You couldn't delete that part of Ruggie even if you tried. It was hardwired into his skull since day one.
He was in constant denial of his feelings, escaping all confrontation inside and outside his mind, and living "blissfully unaware" until it came to bite him in the ass. And when did that happen? You guessed it. Today.
Not exactly today, your switch up happened a week or so ago. It was more like, his tolerance ended today.
Long story short? you began hanging out with this no name low rep student, and you ditched your (self proclaimed) best friend. Now that was the plot twist of the century!
Had you... began to think he's using you? Well, the food part is obvious. But he never used you in other aspects! Well... You didn't give him a chance to, but that's just details. And now he's so attached (hurts to say, but denial cant go any longer) so even if he uses you he doesnt know how'd that end on his side. Seeing you get all chummy with... that. hurt him more than he'd like to admit.
He wasn't sure if he should've talked to you and just upped and confessed, but he also reasoned that he'd lose the free food. (and something more.), so... he waited for a bit. And he waited. And waited...
Each day, he felt more and more high strung. What was that no good scum doing? Why was he hogging you all to himself? What was he planning? Now, you don't even come over at lunch and hang out with him while giving him some of your food. You just... Go and sit with that idiot.
That's it, he thought. He would tell you that he wasn't okay with you breaking your (made up) deal of giving him food. Using stupid excuses, of course. You'd see right through him, but he'd try anyway.
And then, came the fateful day. He texted you to come over, and you did. The classroom was empty when you arrived, other than the hyena beastman looking a bit nervous.
He looked at you and gave you his trademark grin, before breaking into an exasperated facade, shrugging his shoulders and acting like a parent with a child.
"Wow, have been so caught up hanging out with your newest 'friend' that you forgot about the original!" He found himself emphasizing the word 'friend' with a slight snark that'd be missed if you hadn't known him for so long. That immediately caught your attention, but to be sure, you let him speak to hear what he had to say.
Ruggie noted the silence and kept going, finding no reason to just make the conversation die already. "Listen, you can't go back on our deal-" "-I chose to give you food out of my free will-" "-and expect me to not say anything!" Cutting you off while talking was uncalled for, you'd think. But you didn't care all that much. This was pretty amusing.
His stance changed, and he furrowed his eyebrows while folding his left arm near his chest with a dramatic flair. "Gotta eat someway! How could you just leave poor ol' me to fend for myself? Did you realize how hungry I was?-" "-I saw you stealing food-" "-How could you be so cruel!" His ear twitched, and with time he realized he wasn't getting anywhere. You weren't buying it, as expected. But... You looked amused. He was glad you were enjoying yourself. Wait! Focus. He wanted to get rid of that person stealing you, and he got into the role so he had to see it to the end. Definitely not doing this for you to have fun, too.
"So, you wouldn't let your poor friend starve, right?" ... "Well, tell you what, I know a way to let you save me.
"Well, I cant."
What?
"What?" Inside his mind, he was panicking. Did he just lose his chance? He needed to keep a cool head. But... It was getting increasingly harder. Why? Why can't you?
"Come on... I know I don't have the best reputation, but give it some thought? Please?"
"Sorry, but can't." For now, at least. you thought.
He was getting more and more desperate, something new for him. He'd never been desperate for anything but food and money. Being desperate for a person? Now that was new. And he wasn't sure how to take it.
But right now, he knew that his friendship (gosh how he hoped for more...) with you might be in danger, and he had to find a way to keep you with him, and fast.
"Hey hey hey. What about, I give you 5% of all my income? pretty good odds, right?" His trademark grin would've persuaded you, if it hadn't a hidden side to it. He seemed nervous. You thought it was funny how desperate he was for the miniscule bits of free food.
"Not interested, again. Sorry, but can't really negotiate this."
His grin wavered, and his eyes kept looking at you, looking more and more weary and worried by the minute. "Hey. Think about it." His voice was about to crack, but that wouldn't have been very persuasive, wouldn't it?
Free food, huh. you thought. Why is he so adamant on this?
"Please." His pleading made you stop what you were thinking. What? That sounded way too real. Why?
"Why are you so insistent?"
"Because I love you!"
The silence in the room was overwhelming, and your shocked expression made him like he did the dumbest thing ever. Before he could say that it was a joke, you immediately replied.
"I love you too, Ruggie."
Another whiplash. He... Didn't expect to lash out like that.
"Funny joke. Real funny." His unbelieving gaze kept its place looking into your eyes, searching any tells of you lying. But... You didn't seem to be lying. His shock must've showed on his face, because you immediately rebutted.
"Ruggie, I love you. I truly do, I love all of you." Your gaze kept firm, and for the first time in a long time, Ruggie felt... Loved. Safe? It... was difficult to sift through and understand an emotion newly discovered. He never thought something like this would happen to him someday. He was still expecting you to get out a camera and say that it was all a joke. But as he waited, you... Didn't seem to have anything like that in mind.
He didn't cry, but you held his hand. And you promised to not leave him. And you told him that this wouldn't change anything, and that it's okay that he was jealous. It was weird for him, but he felt... Content.
Somehow, you made a hyena from the streets, one of the most elusive and mischievous species living on the streets, infatuated with you. Guess he did get a happy ending he never even dreamed of, huh?
BONUS
(Later that day, he found out that the person who led to all of this was actually a friend that was helping you set up a shop outside school so Ruggie could also work a bit at an honest job. Cue to him getting embarrassed and trying to brush it all off)

ଳ AZUL ASHENGROTTO
You guessed your luck ran out today, after so many successful hunts in a row. You had mistaken Azul for an everyday land dweller - and you couldn't blame yourself! He didn't look or feel like a merperson, what with his skill of walking so flawlessly as if that wasn't an entirely new form - and transformation potions weren't common, with being a new creation and all that. Plus, they were pretty hard to get a hold of! Rarely did people ever choose to leave the only place they've known since birth, the Sea, to go live in an entirely different world where everything they learned while growing up didn't matter a single bit. It certainly was a scary feeling, exploring the unknown.
Talking about land - For you and your kin, land was always seen more as a place where plenty soft and easy prey sat around, waiting to be lured into the depths, where predators like you could take advantage of them, and have a bite nibble - Not a place where merpeople could just diddly dally with them!
Going back to the embarassing memory of what got you into this mess... You had seen Azul stray from a group of people - "These people look like students", you thought. "Should be pretty easy to separate them." - And as he waved them goodbye, saying something about finishing up some homework, you decided to try your luck with him. He looked nimble, and he probably couldn't fight back if he tried. Although, if he were to be a mage, the hunt would be a bit trickier, and even maybe fail if he were to be an experienced one... But you shook your head and decided that whatever, you'll take the gamble. He looked like he'd make the perfect afternoon snack.
When Azul arrived at his seat under the umbrella, he wondered why he had to tag along for this excursion. Sure, he was from the Ocean, it seemed logical to bring him along, but they forgot to think about one thing - He wouldn't go in the water even if they paid him. Maybe a huge sum would make him think about changing his mind, but nobody was willing to fish out enough money for Azul to be satisfied. He didn't want to risk anyone seeing him in his merform, it being something about himself that he wasn't very proud about - unlike a certain pair of twins. So, he remained on the beach under the cool shadow of the umbrella, only bothering to give some basic advice about researching the sea and its numerous ecosystems. He didn't bother to truly help - there wasn't any potential in this trip, financial or knowledge-wise, but he was forced to come either way because Crowley himself thought it was a good idea, and sent him there on a whim. "Ever the responsible man." Azul quipped sarcastically, to no one but himself.
At some point in the middle of him completing the homework of an unfortunate soul that decided to make a contract with him, he began feeling watched. He chalked it up to a few curious people just taking a look, although the intensity was throwing him a bit off. He sneakily took a look around, and realized that there seemed to be no one - He was a bit freaked out, but kept his cool. He put his guard up, and straightened his back. It could be someone from the sea, but rarely did they get close to where humans often hung out. Maybe they were searching for prey? But who would... He then remembered the existence of a species often forgotten because of how the demographic of this species diminished. Sirens. Azul was certainly safe, because Sirens couldn't enchant fellow merpeople, but they were still smooth talkers. Either way, it didn't matter. He thought that whoever it was, (or if there even was someone here, and it wasn't all in his imagination...) they probably wouldn't go and make him their prey, so he quietly went back to writing down the answers to questions about freshman-grade topics on the pages sprawled out in front of him.
ଳ
You didn't notice the way he looked around, knowing (?) somebody was watching him - You were to preoccupied to think about how you'd lure him in, and what to eat first. His heart? You giggled inwardly, "My, what a romantic I am." You then settled on thinking about this later. Your prey was still waiting, afterall.
You took your chance and swam quickly but quietly to him, deciding to sit on a rock nearby. You posed elegantly, imagining the way models often paraded themselves in the magazines washed up by the shore. Only one model ever caught your eye, his pretty blonde hair that faded into purple at the tips and his charming face always seemed to enrapture you. Guess it's time to use him as your muse, and not the other way around - as most Sirens were the divine muses of some people and artists seeking "true beauty", little humans that didn't know when to run away to save their hide.
You stopped your train of thought - it wasn't the time to think about such things. A hunt must be perfect, to feed your and your pod's (thankfully small) stomach. You began to hum a little to warm up your vocal cords, humming a lullaby that was taught to you when you were just a mere guppy. After a few, you stopped and started off the initial notes of the song. You saw your prey whip his head around to the source of the sound, you, and widened his eyes a bit before seemingly relaxing - is what you would've thought if you didn't notice the way his shoulders were still tense. Guess he knows what's good for him. But he won't know soon enough, when he'll give in, loosing all his self-preservation, and jumping into the black abyss with you. Humans are so easy.
...Wait, why is he smiling? What's up with that? You were a bit weirded out by that choice of action, almost faltering in the song, but that only made you try and sing louder, more pleasingly ---
"Greetings," The ex-prey (you were unsure on what to call him now, since your hunt seemed to have failed) said over your voice, and it effectively made you stop. Before your mind could think over what could've gone wrong because hey, he should be already half-way hypnotized, without being able to talk! is he- "It seems to me that you're a siren, yes?" He asked, a pleasant but fake smile taking over his features. He waited for you to reply, and after you overcame your shock and giving up on this hunt subsequently, you begrudgingly replied. "Yes." Your voice was nothing short of melodic, and you inwardly grinned, knowing full well the power that you held. "You don't seem to be human, either. Or, you could be a very capable mage. I'm quite dumbfounded, mind sating my curiosity?" You grinned, showing off your sharp row of teeth, before closing it - He could have a peak, you supposed. "Information is not given for free, so I do not feel the need to answer. Of course, if you're oh so curious, you could always give something in exchange." He sounded like a businessman, almost smooth talking you in the same way you did to countless merpeople in your lifetime. although, only "almost". "Then, what should I offer you in exchange? Surely nothing can truly sate your greed, and I don't have anything of value at hand." You replied swiftly, knowing full well that making an exchange with a Siren, one which he didn't know much, if at all, was the dumbest move he could've done. Still, you'll let him play his game. (You wouldn't know what to do either way, but that's something you don't want to admit.) "I want..." Your prey started, and you cackled in your head. You couldn't wait to see how he'd fumble the bag. He could be asking for you to let him live, maybe he without seeing the way your song didn't have an effect on him if he were to truly be an everyday land dweller, but you doubted that outcome. Maybe for you to show him all your treasures that you've built up with time? Ha! As if! But, as he opens his mouth again-
"You to work for me." What?!
"What?!" You yelled, your voice slightly off at the middle of the word - did your voice just crack?! He actually shocked you enough to make you have a voicecrack! You! A siren! No way he was actually asking a Siren as dignified as you, to work for a random person you just met. And what for? Just a measly piece of information, that certainly won't help you in the long run? Hmph! The audacity!
"I ask you only to work for me. Is that so shell-shocking?" His grin said it all and oh, how you wanted to wipe it off his face. "You did just try to hypnotize me using your famed song, one that is pure magic - only made to be sang by Sirens, infact. Used to lure poor unfortunate souls." He showed off his knowledge to you, making you even more irritated than you were. First, a failed hunt. Whatever, you guessed, you could handle that. There was still a bunch of little vulnerable humans waiting for you on the other end of the beach. They'd probably make a good snack too, but not as good as this one might've made... Anyway, afterwards, your now ex-prey was making a fool out of you! Who does he think he is?! "You-" You growled back in response, the sound ichor-y and disgusting bouncing off of your throat - You didn't care about keeping the "perfect" image up, he was outright disrespecting you! You wanted to try and sing again, make him fall into a slumber and come with you- "So, I know you could be adverse to the topic of working alongside humans, it could be a pretty scary environment, I know-" - Working alongside humans? Wait- Scary? Does he take you for a scaredy cat?! - "But I think you'll make a great fit. You're just what we need in our restaurant!-" - No way you would help feed prey! What is he going on about? And why is he not stopping to hear your opinion! - "In exchange, I'm willing to forgive your transgression, and you'll be able to learn more about how prey act, and how you could easily win them over without a fight!"
...Silence overtook your mind, no inner monologue in sight anymore. The way he framed it, it sounded like a pretty good deal. Plus, you wouldn't have to worry about this... human? you weren't sure about that, but you rolled with it - enacting vengeance on you. Maybe if you frame it the same way he did, your pod would be okay with that too? ...But a proud Siren like you, wouldn't stoop so low as to help others that weren't your immediate kin. Still... Food might get scarce if you hunt too much in the same place - Sometimes humans are smart, even if it's not always.
You hesitated, before replying with your decision...
"Fine." You sighed, voice going back to the usual honeyed tone after your outburst. "I'll work for you, but don't think about tricki-" "-Great! Just sign here, or if you can't sign, just scribble something with the tip of this 'pen'." A golden contract materialized out of thin air, and you were starting to think this person truly was a mage, and that's why the song didn't work on him. Still, your gut told you that that doesn't seem to be the full story, but you let the thought simmer. Maybe you'll figure it out with time.
He gave you a pen that was in his pocket, and you held it in your hand awkwardly. It was in your balled up fist, holding it up like a long stick ready to strike. You made a tentative shaky line, and made a quick loop after understanding somewhat how it works. You almost tore the flimsy paper while trying to sign, and the soon-to-be-employer only stared when you tried to see his reaction. You let the pen drop to the ground when you thought the signature looked okay enough, and smirked slightly knowing your now employer would have to pick it up later. You could be working for him, but you could still be petty.
But you forgot one thing. In the midst of the afterglow of your outburst, and in your deep thinking, you didn't read about the clause. "What a rookie mistake." Azul thought. Clearly you can read, seemingly self taught, only exception was that you can't write because you didn't bother to learn, but still, you forgot that now, you were in his hands - and now, he could make you do virtually anything for him. Some might say it's an underhanded move, but really, it was right there. He didn't take advantage of you being angry at him! You were sober, and there was no manipulation involved. You did it all yourself. So, it's perfectly just.
"Let's start your first day at the restaurant, and your first day on land!" Azul kept his polite smile, and you were taken aback. "Right now?! Wait-" "Let us go now, you still need to join the club to get a transformation potion!" In the midst of your one-sided yelling, Azul genuinely smiled without you noticing. Seems like you'll be quite the interesting addition. And the prettiest, too.

♛ VIL SCHOENHEIT
You had gone and checked to see what was going on with all the ruckus on your favourite beach, before realizing that everything was perfect and clean, something that usually wouldn't have happened. There were weird gadgets that you didn't know the name of scattered all around the place, and plenty of people. Guards, too. Just who on Twisted Wonderland could be the (temporary) star of this place?
That's when you took back your words - Recognizing the model immediately. He was in the magazines that you often saw wanderers hold when tanning themselves on your territory. When you were at a loss of creativity and didn't know what poses to strike, the magazines left behind by the despicable people taking shelter on your territory without consent, helped you immensely. Vil certainly had skill, and you'd guess that if he weren't a human, he'd be the queen of sirens. And that by itself is high praise already, because in theory no one should be able to top the natural beauty of your kin. So, you respected him. That didn't want stop you from wanting to get him to get closer to the water, but at least if you had to choose you'd first snack a "potato", as the model likes to call certain people, and then if you had no choice, him. It'd be a terrible waste though, as seen that most people aren't exactly the prettiest, unlike you, so you'd exercise some self control.
Vil felt your presence from a mile away. When he took a look at who the person in the water might be, in case it was an unfortunate part of the newbie staff tripping and falling into the water or an entirely different thing, he immediately realized that you weren't a human at all. What with your long glittering tail - mesmerizing in its own right. The colours blended well together, and the scales glimmered in the soft light of the makeshift studio. Vil often heard about the beauty of Sirens, but he never met one in real life. He had to say, you truly were something out of a painting.
You didn't seem to have bad intentions when you looked curiously around the beach, but he decided to keep an eye on you anyway. Nobody knows when you'll get hungry and change your mind.
---
After that, Vil had sent in a request to his manager to do more photoshoots on the desolate beach. He was curious to get to know you, and wanted to try and understand where and how sirens got their beauty.
♛
🐉 MALLEUS DRACONIA
You aren't dumb. No, you obviously aren't. I mean, how could you be dumb if you survived this long in the sea? You'd have to have gained at least some wit about you.
You are not dumb, so that's why you will not be approaching the handsome guy with horns. Although your elders would have your head if they heard what you just said about THE Malleus Draconia. You still couldn't wrap your head around the fact Malleus even came here on this deserted beach, with no guards around. Maybe he was tired and ran off to have some fresh air? Yeah, that could be it.
How did you know about Mr. Horned dude? Well, the sea isn't all that closed off from the outside. Negotiations often happen between kingdoms, and you knew how powerful, both in magic and politics, Malleus Draconia is. That's why you shouldn't be wanting to just try and sing him into drowning, because it would lead to a war.
If, you even managed to accomplish hypnotizing him.
Now, you aren't dumb. Truly, someone like you, so smart, knows and doesn't need others to tell them. Now, keeping in mind the fact that you are very smart, thank you very much, you'll try and sway Malleus Draconia into going into the water. You don't understand why you want to do that. Maybe to brag about it? To see the horrified looks of the people around you? Or just a death wish? Whatever, you're already in too deep now - because you've just subconsciously gotten closer. ...Maybe admiration? Curiosity? Animosity for the fact he's more powerful? Or how mesmerizing he looks. It doesn't matter either way.
His eyes don't open when you approach slowly, and you think that you might've seen a smirk forming - but that couldn't be it. He would've certainly smitten you down with his signature green fire if he were to know you were coming with ill intentions. Still, you braved through - your logical side screaming at you to stop being a dumbass and go back home, but you were too invested in this now.
Your voice didn't want to come out of the depths of your throat, with it being stuck from pure fear. You anyway forced it up, and began to hum. Then, it became full blown singing. You were actually trying to lure him. You didn't know whether to be proud of yourself or not.
Draconia didn't seem to budge, but when you started singing - He turned around with amusement clear in his eyes, and you wondered if he just acted as if he didn't hear you come by a mile away. His smirk, no matter how handsome, irked you - You guess that you should've known that you'd fail, but... "My, what beautiful singing voice." He broke the ice, but that only served you to do the opposite - Go silent. You thought that it'd be better to not dig your grave too deep. One of the only wise choices you have made thus far in the night.
"Why go silent? You should show off your voice to the Briar Valley soon to be king. Maybe that'll save you a spot in his court." Draconia offered tauntingly, holding his hand up - beckoning you to keep going. You truly did make a few bad decisions this evening.
He waited for your solo, but it never came. The only thing that came was your escapade. You thought you'd be fast enough to lose him if you were to catch him off guard, but he already thought it all out. This visit was planned, afterall.
So, he let you go. And until the next time he has free time, you'll be alone in your thoughts - wondering what the heck was up with him.
🐉
🦇 LILIA VANROUGE
You'd seen a nimble guy lazing around under his umbrella - He had a certain ominous vibe to him that you couldn't quite place a finger on, but still, you were a bit curious and he seemed like he'd make quite the flavorful dessert.
Lilia noticed you the moment you approached the nearby waters. He knew that Sirens often searched prey on desolate beaches, and he wanted to meet one. He was sure he'd be able to handle one with all he's been through, and if it were to prove to be too much - he could just poof away. Pretty bare-bones plan, but it was all that was needed. It didn't need to be complicated or fleshed out, oftentimes a few words do the trick better than a thousand.
Lilia sneaked a look at you, and he found you positively beautiful. He understood why people would even willingly drown themselves just to be with such a creature as you. But now wasn't the time to think about that, as you approached quietly but swiftly. Nobody could notice you approaching, nobody but Lilia. He was excited, to say the least. Finally, something new after all these boring years. Only his bloodlust or gaming ever got him pumped about something, especially the latter now that he didn't get to experience the former much anymore. He isn't a general anymore, is what he tried to always remind himself. Sometimes change is really difficult, and habits do indeed die hard - More often than not, he went into 'general' mode when playing FPS games with Gloomurai.
He smiled up to you as you swam to him, and you considered changing your mind for a second. Why would you be scared of mere prey?
You sat on a rock near your prey, and looked down to him. He had that particular smile, and just as you were about to sing, he interrupted you.
"Greetings!" He cheerily waved at you, "It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Lilia, mind introducing yourself?"
You could even hear a pin drop in this silence. It engulfed the whole scene, and you weighted in your options. Sing, and get a good meal, or let the prey play his game, amusing you greatly, and then get a good meal? You weren't that hungry right now, so you chose the latter. Some good fun never hurts.
You gave him your name - It rolling off of your tongue pleasantly, one honeyed word that should've already enraptured an everyday, run-of-the-mill human. Guess he wasn't that easy of a prey, but a challenge was almost always welcomed by you.
"What a gorgeous name. I quite like it myself!" He grinned, showing off a fang. Not human?- "I extend you a formal invitation to visit Briar Valley anytime you want!" You were positively dumbfounded. "Of course, with all the expenses covered. You mustn't worry your head over that!"
...You didn't know how to react. On one hand, you just encountered a seemingly big shot - and you'd go home hungry, and on the other, you'll be able to visit another place without being shunned and worrying about food! You wondered for a second, then chose your next course of action.
Silently retreat back into the waters while staring him down.
Lilia giggled, and took this as agreement from your part, plus, you didn't show any signs of hostility. He kicked up the sand under his feet, and teleported away. He grinned giddily, he couldn't wait to see you next time.

"I Love You"
When the words "I love you" spill from the prefect's lips, how do the Housewardens react?
Part 2
TW: Kissing in Leona's part, mentions of insecurities (Fluff)
Part 1 (Separate): Riddle Rosehearts, Leona Kingscholar, Azul Ashengrotto
ᥫ᭡. Riddle Rosehearts ᥫ᭡.
Like the thorns on a rose bush, Riddle's words were piercing and harsh. A follower of rules and also a preacher. Even so, what rules could he apply to you? You who was from another world entirely, you who understood little of his world yet were so brave, and you who broke his rules but never angered him. He was so utterly confused. He wasn't sure what he felt, really, you were far from perfect- mother wouldn't approve. Still, he couldn't deny how his cheeks flared up when you walked into the same room, how he'd slightly fumble his words, and especially how his warning were much tame when you broke a rule. It all had to mean something or maybe he was going crazy. How could he like you, even a little- but how could he not?
But he had priorities and you weren't supposed to be one of them, you weren't meant to be a worry, you weren't supposed to be anything. But he cared. So much so, he didn't mind when you broke his rules, it felt right. It was the opposite to all that he was taught, something was amiss. It felt like a fresh breath of air, akin to sunlight engulfing him in a warm embrace. He felt at peace when you were nearby, as if he needn't be so uptight. Maybe it was alright for a few rules to be broken, to enjoy what life had to offer, to allow himself to relax.
He really was grateful for your calming presence, reminiscent to a fresh cup of herbal tea- with a slight hint of cinnamon, subtly spicy. Just like you were, not quite sweet but not sour, maybe spicy was the right term? So earthy and full of life, different from his dull self. But with you near him, he didn't feel so dull even he could be fun- at least you enjoyed his presence, it was enough.
Despite that, you weren't fair- why did he fee so warm when you came close? What right did you have making his face go red and not from anger? Who allowed you to be so ethereal?
It wasn't fair.
How you were so insufferably pretty, and the way you'd willingly spend time with such a hot-head like him, trying your best to follow the rules of his dorm. You'd try to accommodate yourself to him, you'd really do that for him? He could just melt in your arms. The way you didn't mind when he lectured you for your recklessness, not speaking up but simply eyeing him with wide eyes- how was he even supposed to speak? You'd study alongside him, let him tutor you and afterwords you'd always stay for a cup of tea. He got used to it- your company and your mannerisms. Different from him, yet truly appreciated.
It was another tutoring session when something unforseen took place. Your hand was raveled in your hair as you grumbled and groaned, you hadn't expected the study packets Riddle provided to be so difficult. You had a test in two-weeks, it was time you started practicing practical magic, lucky you having Riddle by your side.
It was a tough night full of nit-picking, you'd say he was mean but you could see how he was trying his best to be tame with his words- how they were harsh but not mean, truly, this was also a challenge for him.
Hours went by, the moon rose in the sky and you were a tired mess, at least Riddle's tutoring helped. You were just about to thank him when the words spilled out of your mouth, unknowingly. Sleepy eyes looked up at him while a soft smile played at your lips.
"I love you, you know?"
How cruel of you to simply doze of afterwards, would you not even listen to what he had to say? Maybe it was for the best, if you were awake he wouldn't be able to meet your gaze. After all, his face was even redder than before, butterflies in his stomach as he simply stood there- had he been dreaming? He hoped not, it would be sadistic of life to play such a joke. He only realized it wasn't a dream when your head touched his hand, you were asleep and comfortable- you felt safe around him, trusted him. It was endearing.
Nevertheless, it was improper for you to doze off all of a sudden. But, just for today, he'd allow you- rules were meant to be broken, was what you always said. This was his form of breaking a rule, such a rebel he was. His hand traveled to your face, cupping you cheek gently before he draped a blanket over you- red like roses and Riddle himself.
"I love you too.."
A whisper, he hoped you heard it. Maybe you did and maybe you didn't- he might say it once more, after you awake. Till then, just let him admire you who looked so serene.
ᥫ᭡. Leona Kingscholar ᥫ᭡.
You're really gonna keep trying, aren't ya herbivore? Always trying to push him to go to class, to set his life straight. Really, why do you even care? Every time he pushes you away, orders you to bring him a snack, tells you to remain his pillow. You do it. Why do you stay? No one else would- he's a prince, is that it? His wealth, his influence, the power he holds. Is that what you want a part of? Everyone else had, just to ditch him after.
If you do, he doesn't mind- just stay, please don't go.
He wouldn't admit it but he liked your presence, the way you constantly clung to him, tried to lend a hand to help him who was strong while you were so weak. He might just go to class now, and he does, much more than before. You're a motivation he works for, it brings a smile on your little face. He wants it to stay, he doesn't even know why.
What really affects him is when he realizes, that you stay not for his money, nor his power and influence. You just like him. You enjoy his company, him as a person, an individual. He's not 'the second prince of Sunset Savannah' to you. No, he's Leona Kingscholar to you- not a second option, not someone you'll leave any time soon, and someone you genuinely care for.
Fine then, if his herbivore stays for him- he'll work them. You are a motivation to him, with your sweet words and the time you willingly spend- he too will work for you and be your reason to remain in Twisted Wonderland.
Was it selfish of him to want you to stay, no matter the cost? Maybe, but he is a prince- some habits don't leave, especially not when he's found his reasoning to move forward. He'll change some of his ways for you, it's cute when your face lights up as you notice him heading to class.
He doesn't change every one of his ways though. Why would he, when those ways of his allow him to see your face? You being pulled by Ruggie and towards him to wake him up, and you do- soft nothings spill from your lips as your try to wake the lazy lion before you. Of course he's awake, it's clear he is when he pulls you beside him. His weight stops you from moving, it's a usual now.
"Just stay for a bit, yeah? I promise I'll go to next class after, so just stay with me."
You do, it's comforting but so confusing. It's not appropriate for you to have feelings for someone like him, a prince of another world- you might have to go back to your won, though, you don't really want tot leave when Leona's around. It feels as though you're doing something meant for 'more than friends', something wrong. None of you confront it. It's serene in this silence, his warmth, in his embrace. It's a mutual feeling of safety, a haven. Let it last while it does, he'll make sure it's forever.
"I love you."
And the words spill out of your mouth, no ones near, just him and you. One of his eyes open, a neutral look on his face- you're not sure what to make of it. You don't have to, he's just shocked, not that he'll admit it. He didn't expect his herbivore to be so bold, he likes it, he likes you- loves you too. A grin soon flashes on his face, sharp canines flashing before he pulls you closer. You know what he's insinuating, you abide. He has a hold on the back of your head, hand intertwined in your hair.
It's a surprisingly soft kiss, it makes you want to melt- this is his answer, his reciprocation to your declaration of love. He's too smug to say anything.
Then the both of remain, safe in each others embrace. Your legs are entangled and chest touching the other's, you both relax.
"Love you too herbivore."
It's fleeting words, so soft that you barely heard them and if you did, you're not sure it's reality. As you seem to doze off, there's one thing in your mind. Where else would you go other than his embrace? This was your home.
ᥫ᭡. Azul Ashengrotto ᥫ᭡.
A swindler in the flesh and a contract that binds one to the other. Azul wishes it were that easy, but it's not. The last thing he wishes for is your hatred, you're already wary of him. The interactions he does manage to secure, somehow quite frequently, always render you even more skeptical of him. So guarded and cautious, his reputation's not the best but he isn't a monster, so why are you always scurrying off? Just let him speak, please?
But fate has another plan in mind for you always seem to bump into the swindler that you seem to avoid so- match made in heaven? As if. You won't believe his sweet lies, you won't sign a contract with him- but that's not what it's about. He doesn't wish for a contract, just some of your time.
As your interactions with him increase, you're introduced to very many versions of Azul. Being a swindler was just one part of him, the one that made wary. Nonetheless, he wasn't a monster- quite sweet actually, once you spent the much needed time with him. Words were exchanged, and you were warming up to him, slowly but gradually. Placed on his palm is your trust for safekeeping, you hope he doesn't break it.
As time goes by, you realize the swindler isn't at all what he seems- he has his own walls guarding him, his own insecurities. It's not what you expected, yet it adds to his character- it makes him human, he has a heart. The parts he hides are what attracts you to him- he sees it as a moth to a flame, hiding his failures. Yet, you look at it as a bee to a flower, so dainty a bond but so sweet.
Days go by and you notice how shy he can be, the smallest things can fluster him who seemed so sly. It's endearing, really. Your walls slowly break down, revealing your true person while he allows you to see glimpses of his own self, slow but steady. You don't mind, you both can take your time- walk hand in hand towards trust.
It's another night in his office, spent with him working on contracts. He truly is a hard worker, ambitious too. You admire those qualities, maybe not all the work he does but him as an individual is what you like. You don't seem to notice how the three words roll off your tongue, hand tangled in his locks of gray, seemingly playing with his hair; until you do, in fact, realize.
"Azul, I love you.."
Ink is spilled everywhere, the black coating the table and contracts on it. The pitter patter of the liquid allows him time to realize what you really said.
Those words that spilled of your tongue- so sugary sweet, could it be true? No contract needed, no form of force just his presence alone would suffice? He was enough.
His hand clutched yours tightly, ocean eyes looking up at you from his seat, tears spill from his eyes. He was so vulnerable in that moment, you found his true self as he had found yours. It's a nod from you that shows him that it's not a joke but reality.
"I-I love you too.."
He fumbles the words out too, a faint blush coating his cheeks as he looks away and to the ground. A giggle escapes your lips as you plant a kiss on his cheek.
Maybe the swindler was swindled by your love, except there was no catch- just your love, all for him.

"I Love You"
When the words "I love you" spill from the prefect's lips, how do the Housewardens react?
Part 1
TW: Kissing in Malleus' part, forehead kisses, mentions of insecurities (Fluff)
Part 2 (Separate): Kalim Al-Asim, Vil Schoenheit, Idia Shroud, Malleus Draconia
ᥫ᭡. Kalim Al-Asim ᥫ᭡.
Like the scorching sun in the Scalding Sands, Kalim's feelings for you burned deep within his heart. Why is it that he wants to spend time with you, but the moment he does, his heart seems to stop? Why is it that the word 'friend' bugs him when associated with you? Why is it that he wants to be selfish, to hog you for himself? His mind become's mush whenever you're near and his throat feels dry, he just feels so shy.
Kalim is everything but shy.
Expensive gifts, prized heirlooms, rare gemstones, and any luxury you could name- he'll give it all to you, so why do you reject? Anyone else would accept his gifts with open arms, encouraging him to give more. Wait, you aren't anyone, you're you. You don't take, you give. Despite the little you have in this new world, you who harbors no magic, gives him joy. You spend time with him, you care for him, and you don't take from him- he really wishes you would.
Take his riches and look back at him just one more time, he swears he'll hand you all the gold he can acquire. So please, please just look at him more.
You're caring, so much so that he could just melt in your arms. How lucky he feels when you look at him, but why? Jamil looks at him too, he doesn't feel as if mice are tickling him then. No, when you're around, all he can see is you. You who shines brighter than any gemstone his wealth could buy. You are not a prize to be won, he knows, but he wishes that the glitters of gold could woo you, make him your number one.
He feels so lost and it hurts, nights spent sobbing away.
Kalim, the name alone makes you smile. Someone who's kind despite all that he's faced, all the horrible people he's met- he still believes in the good of people. Some call it naivety, you call it 'a heart of gold'. Yes, he's sheltered, there's some things he's slow at, and he has flaws. Despite said flaws, he want to become better and you see him try every single day. You've seen how he makes everyone comfortable, always including anyone and everyone, how he's akin to a drop of sunshine. It's a rarity and you appreciate it greatly. Twisted Wonderland, it's new to you and things are difficult but when Kalim's there, things don't feel that difficult.
He doesn't look down upon you, he doesn't think you're weak despite having no magic, and he certainly never belittles you- others have and that hurt.
He's always up for some fun, but it always feels better when he can share the fun with you. Thus, flying carpet rides have become your nightly routine. There's a soft knock on your window every other night, a hand extended your way; calling you to live, be happy. You can't help but blush when the carpet takes off, his body huddles closer to yours and the moon seems tease you with how bright she is.
It's another night and he's come to pick you up to go see the Scarabia moon. You're sitting next to each other, the desert seemingly glowing underneath. The stars twinkle and you swear the breeze is cool on purpose, just so the both of you have no choice but to lean into each other. Hands intertwine, both of you looking the other way, cheeks red like cherries.
"I..I love you."
You fumble out on mistake, your breath hitching the moment you realize. His head whips towards you, garnet eyes appraising your blushing visage. A soft smile appears on his lips, his sun-kissed skin peachy with a blush of his own.
"I love you too."
He says eagerly, hands wrapping around you as he pulls you in. The moon looks bigger, the stars winking at you, and the scent of sandalwood engulfs you. A soft kiss is planted on your forehead, one that lingers. Like a pair of sea otters, you both hold the other's hand.
ᥫ᭡. Vil Schoenheit ᥫ᭡.
Center of attention, even the room's filled to the brim with pretty faces. Eye's the color of violets and a smile that's so striking, it could cut right through you. Just how a bright star commands everyone's admiration, Vil himself does exactly that. With beauty that's akin to a velvety rose, thorns sharp and drawing blood of the one who dares touch. He's not sure why he's so fond of you, really, it baffles him. Your constant babbling should bother him- your posture isn't perfect, you don't regularly use the products he recommends to you, and your diet could use improving.
He only recently realized the perfection of imperfection. That's what you are, like an abstract piece of art that can draw even the most elegant man's heart. Truly, you can take his breath and keep it, which is a difficult feat to accomplish. Yet, you seem to have done just that.
He doesn't like how drawn he is to you, the you who could improve so much. Nevertheless, he can't deny how his heart flutters when you ramble on and on, the words you spew seem like pearls to him. Undeniably, you've got his heart, and it bothers him.
Vil seems unreachable to you, as if he's a god and you're a follower. You can see him, but you can't touch. Everything about him is captivating- the way he moves, how he walks, how he talks, everything. You feel like a toad in front of him sometimes. Still, the reason your heart continues to flutter is not his beauty but how soft he can be. His words may be harsh, telling you to fix your posture or add a certain product to your skincare, but he means well. It used to irk you, how he pointed out your flaws, but he never touched an insecurity- it was never something you couldn't fix. Many times, he only tells you how to improve and that's in his nature. It started with you muttering curses under your breath, now all you do is give him a dopey smile as he flicks your forehead.
It's hard to love Vil, and you're sure that it's even harder to be loved by him. He's untouchable and you're not sure if he'll even spare you a glance. But, the nights you spend at his dorm, him tending to your skin as you blabber about your day. Or the few rarities when he opens up, speaking of his insecurities. It shows how human he is; how he too, can feel.
It's another night at his dorm, your skin's worsened as of late and Vil's ordered you to give him a visit. You sit at his vanity, the light's so bright that it could blind you, but what truly blinds you is Vil himself in all his glory. His dampened hair, the ends the color of wisteria, and the scent of patchouli just makes you want to melt right then and there. He strides over with a new product in his hand, carefully beginning to massage your face with it.
"I love you."
The words come out instantly, his hands stopping in motion as his violet eyes widen. A sheepish blush coats your face as you realize what you said. Your breath hitches, the fear of rejection drilling into your mind, and your heart drumming against your chest.
"That's quite bold of you, sweet potato.."
He lets out a small chuckle, eyes holding content. He leans closer before flicking you on the forehead gently.
"I love you too."
ᥫ᭡. Idia Shroud ᥫ᭡.
The buzz of video games, the stench on junk food, and an interest for oddities. Idia Shroud was a wallflower, yet you'd managed to befriend him, something he's truly grateful for- your presence. He liked you. You understood him, you never belittled him for what he enjoyed, in fact, you encouraged him to continue. No matter how good or bad you were at a game, you'd play alongside him. It didn't matter whether you enjoyed his rambles, you'd listen no matter what, before babbling on and on about something of your own interest. Nights like this, filled with games, reading manga, watching anime, and spending time with you- he never wanted these to end.
You were brave, so unlike him. You had no magic, still you managed to show courage, to fight against overblots. How he wished he was you, no, how he wished he was yours. The realization hit him like a truck in an isekai, quickly and out of nowhere. When he figured he liked you, he didn't let you anywhere near him for a week- opting to hide in his room and not leave. It took some convincing from Ortho and also the fact that you may dislike him if he ignored you, before he opened his doors for you once again. Nevertheless, he was skittish, averting his gaze from your face, and sitting on the other end of the couch when you visited. That worried you, you were sure you'd messed up big time and he became uneasy around you because of it. Thankfully everything became normal after two weeks, he was sure he wouldn't be able to recover.
The truth was, you liked him too. It was weird and something unforeseen, you both started out as friends- you'd visit his dorm, play games all night, munch on junk together, and then laugh at all the cringe characters in the current anime you both were binging on. Right now, you were experiencing that cheesy crush from a shoujo manga, and the feeling was messing with your brain.
The gloomy boy you pined for was everything but dreamy, somehow, that's what made him so charming to you. Hair an electric blue that flared up like flames, pale skin akin to porcelain, and eyes yellow like daffodils. His physicality was mesmerizing but there was so much more to his character too. He was passionate about what he enjoyed, jabbering on for hours about his interest, something that you didn't mind one bit. He was competitive, striking a triumphant grin whenever he'd win a game against you. He's prideful too, his creations making him an utter genius. At the same time, he held such emotion, a man who would never judge for he himself experienced the badmouthing of others.
There's just something about Idia, something that makes your cheeks flare up. You're not sure if he notices how his presence can make you skittish, how you become timid when he's near, and how divine he seems to you. He never notice how he makes you feel, how ironic that you become just like him when he's near.
Just like the usual, you're cooped up in his dorm alongside him. You've been binging an anime for the past few hours and the way he's so focused on the characters while you're so focused on him, it bothers you. He feels so close yet so far and the fact that you're having such thoughts about the whole situation, makes you feel stupid.
"I love you.."
You immediately pause at your own words, Idia pauses the show too. There's a long silence in the room and before you know it, Idia's moved far away from you. His hair's become an electric pink and his eyes are wide.
"W-w-w-what..!?"
He exclaims the words as if he's animated, the feeling of fluster surging throughout him. Were you playing a joke on him? This wasn't right, it couldn't be. His gaze averts the other way every time you look at him and he won't admit it, but he really hopes you're not joking.
"I love you, Idia."
You say again, softer this time and you yourself look the other way, peachy blush coating your face. You're cursing yourself for speaking up, palms sweaty and clammy. You feel dizzy and your breathing is erratic , the feeling's mutual. The room's silent again, no one says anything and the only sound either of you can hear is the buzz of the computer.
"I...I...I dove, no, love you too.."
He mutters out, fumbling his words while he does. You both look at each other, shy gaze. Your lips form a small smile, making Idia's hair flare an even brighter pink. His face is rosy and he'd rather not look at you but you're just so pretty that he can't help but look.
You're not sure how it things fell in place but he accepted your confession, and now you've somehow managed to cuddle up to him. He's stiff but that's fine, the mere fact that he's holding your hand tightly is enough to reassure you. That, and how smug he looks.
ᥫ᭡. Malleus Draconia ᥫ᭡.
Child of man, you truly are peculiar. Malleus Draconia, the name alone makes millions, if not billions, tremble to the bone. He holds such unrivaled power that the thought alone is fearsome- he is fearsome.
A monster, that's what many would call him, but you don't. No one dares approach him as carelessly as you do, a bumbling smile on your lips as you walk next to him without a care in the world. Do you truly not know what he's capable of? 'Tsunotaro', that's what you've named him- quite bold of you, not that he minds. Please continue to enlighten him about human practices, he's interested in every thing you have to say.
Loneliness is a disease that he's suffered from since his childhood. It's second nature to be alone with his own presence, silence a bandage that covers but doesn't heal his wounds. Yet, the way you come to him, invite him to all your little events, how you choose him. How can he be lonely when he has you?
You, who is so bright like a star coated in gold- is he even allowed to go near you? It feels as if you'll break in his hands, yet you seem so brave, putting yourself in danger with a smile. You've got his heart in your hands and it hurts that you don't realize.
'Friend' was a word he grew to love, knowing the special bond you shared. Nevertheless, it's the same word that has caused Diasomnia to have horrible whether for the past week- you're a friend to many but a lover to none. Be his, child of man, he's the only one worthy enough to call you his.
Since the day of his realization, Malleus follows you as a second shadow would. Now, no one with ill intentions would dare approach what he's already considered his. Truly, how precious you are. Giving him small shiny pebbles you find, trying to tuck daisies into his hair but being unable to reach his head, and the times you try to tease him as a joke, making the silliest of faces. Please tell him that he's the only one who has the honor of seeing you in such various forms. Dragons are hoarders, you know? And he wants nothing but to hoard you all for himself.
Spending time with your Tsunotaro is always fulfilling. His knowledge on gargoyles, the depth in which he speaks of them and how little he knows of human interactions. It all makes your heart flutter, eliciting a smile on your lips. It's not difficult to have feelings for someone such as him, it comes naturally. He seems so intimidating, dangerous even and it's not that he's not- he is, but there's so much more to him. He's curious, always listening to what you have to say. He's sweet, always handing you gifts whether small or unimaginably grand. And the manner in which he speaks, the elegance he holds, he's just as charming as any prince in a book- if not more.
When you began actually having feelings for him, all his words seemed to make your mind all fuzzy. Could he really not tell how his vocabulary affected you? 'My dear', 'my love', and all other forms of endearments had become a usual, so much so, that it felt right.
You went on walks with him, spotting gargoyles and chatting about them. Sometimes you drag him to picnics with and he happily follows, letting you braid his ebony hair. Still, not everything you shared seemed friend-like, and if it was, you didn't want it to be. The way his emerald eyes gazed over you, how his touch lingered so gently, and how his lips brushed agains your ear when he said he'll keep you safe. It couldn't mean nothing, you didn't want it to.
A walk in a meadow at nighttime, how strange, but also the daily for you. You walk alongside Malleus, skittish and timid- this isn't how you usually act. The moon's peeking out from under the clouds and casting a silver sheen on all that it lands on. Fireflies scurry around slowly, the cool night air making you feel at ease- but it's not enough.
Your face is flushed and you won't meet his gaze, he's not sure what he did wrong. His frame towers behind you as you seem to walk quicker, increasing your pace. Hurt, that's what he feels; did you start seeing him as a monster too?
You can't leave, please- he'll beg if he has to, give you all of what he has and can create. Promise you'll stay, and don't ever leave.
Then you pause, turning around as you take deliberate steps towards him. You look up, your smaller frame covered by his daunting shadow.
"I love you, Tsunotaro."
You say with a certain melancholy in your voice, as if you know he'll reject you and your love. How could he ever think of rejecting? He'd rather pierce his own heart and bleed to death than ever think of rejecting any of your words.
His viridescent eyes widen, the glow of them seeming intense. His hands holds you in place gently, he seems to be staring at you, looking you as if you're the most fragile piece of glass. The words don't spill out of his lips and you look more desolate by the second- he seemingly can't speak, he's not sure if this is but a dream.
"I love you too, child of man. So much that you wouldn't believe it."
His hands wrap you in a desperate embrace, almost as desperate as the words he'd just managed to choke out. It was as if you would wither away if he let go, as if he was making sure you were not a dream.
Your own eyes widen, lips parting shock at his words. The night seems magical and his embrace is sincere. He pries away from you only to look at you more, all your expressions- please continue to show such faces to only him. Only he should see you like this, with your face flushed red and eyes widened as you stare at him as though he's the only man in the world. His hands seem shaky, unlike who he usually is.
No, he seems so vulnerable and you seem to be his vulnerability.
Everything seems alright when you're there, he doesn't feel loneliness; far from it, actually. He doesn't feel like a monster when you love him, when your own arms loosely wrap around his neck as you pull him in for a soft kiss- no, monster's don't get such luxuries.

Trail
i. Small Key, Portal, Detective It's not full fic, really not, just another idea I thought but never write a post. Also... I forgot I have my own prompts as well...Something like a general prologue and lore for possible works for this AU. You can skip next bunch of text, it's just my thought. There are no triggers yet, except barelly edited text. I haven't decided yet whether this will be a yandere AU or a regular one. I tried to think about possible conflicts in the story and realized that it directly depends on the character. Therefore, here is only the general part, which telling the state of affairs. How the reader even got to such a life, haha. As for plans, I can say that for some reason I thought about Jade. Don't ask me why. As if he would fit into this au better than anyone. I dragged out the introduction a bit… enjoy reading! Let me know your ideas as well, I`ll read and answer them later.

What is the best profession? Probably, every child asked this question at least once. There were always many proposals, but there was one that everyone thought about. Detective. Do they even exist? Or have they always been an idea embodied in books and films?
Are there schools that produce qualified specialists? Is it possible to became one? What is the principle of selecting candidates?
Calm down, hands on the table. You also did not know the answers. It’s trivial, but the profession found you itself. Moreover, if someone found out about your “Detective” badge, they would think that it was a high-quality craft. Seriously, aren’t detectives just an invention of film directors?
In the company of friends and their acquaintances, over a cup of tea or another drink, you would also laugh at the joke, adding your own to the general vat of barbs. Nevertheless, the rushing carriage harnessed by black horses was as real as the mantle of a prestigious college on you. Luckily, the hood was long enough to hide part of your face, so you could look around the room with a bored expression and no sense of professionalism.
A huge mirror in the middle and flying coffins. Crowds of students and a director late for the ceremony.
Never in your life could you imagine that your job would take you to a haven for magicians. Yes, magic existed and was the envy of many, even you, but nothing more. If that's how a mouse felt when cats were swarming around its hole, then be it. However this mouse was very well prepared. It had a hidden artifact that allowed cast simple spells. Nothing more. After all, your task was to gather the material and leave unnoticed. In no case would you become the best student among the stream of first years, heaven forbid.
You only hoped that the bribed principal and the Mirror would not throw you to the predators. Exactly. The kind teacher knew about everything, and the inside pocket of his jacket sank under the weight of money. Naturally, after convincing him that you had no desire to harm the college's reputation. The struggle between schools was not in your competence, let them squabble over talented applicants as much as they wanted. Your task was the simplest.
Just make sure that the representatives of influential families were not planning anything… interesting. The version for the director was to collect information about the college, for further writing of the article on behalf of the "student".
You had already received half of your payment, and the customer signed a contract in which you received your other half in any outcome. Plus, you could always earn extra money by publishing an article to the delight of Crowley, but that's it. Possible options after completing the job.
Finally, the director appeared, and you would have sighed with relief if not for the student who appeared behind him. It seemed that no one knew who it was, however, this was only to your advantage. Any information was important to the customer.
*
*
*
"Any information was important to the customer." This thought was worthy of a hit to the head with any heavy object. They were just students, what could possibly go wrong? The contract details did not include feeding flamingos in pink and painting roses from white to red and back. Why, of all the dorms, the Mirror decided to send you to Heartslabyul… that question should have been asked to Crowley. Only for him magically disappear every time, "and do not to interfere with a professional's work."
A professional could not work in such conditions.
Luckily, a pair of first years significantly attracted the attention of the head. All you had to do was secure their friendship and the article "headache" of Rosehearts. The collar on your neck in most cases explained why you did not use magic regularly.
However, in other dorms it was hardly easier. Whether this thought was self-consolation or acceptance of the harsh truth, you didn't care. Or it could be a simple complaint from chewing his lunch Ace.
If you had come here at an earlier age, when you yourself were a scholar, you would have been overjoyed. Of course, what child would refuse to learn magic? To travel between colleges using portals? The one who was now in the body of an tired of everything adult obviously.
It was much harder to study seriously when you needed to be in several places at once, and for missing classes the head "cut off your head". In your time, being a hooligan sounded easier.
Bless the existence of Internet storage, otherwise attempts to hide the notes of real work would have finally driven you to the grave. The promised payment was not worth it.
Fortunately, or vice versa, there was plenty of information. Filtering rumors, looking for the truth - that's another task. At least the soil for this was fertile. News of growing tension in a dorm. A rumor about a student who grants any wish. Possible conflict between two celebrities.
How true were the rumors about the strained relationship between the second prince of the Sunset Savanna and the crown prince of Briar Valley?
Everything was carefully written and saved for later editing. When did you have time to do this? The answer was simple. You sacrificed your time for sleep. All paper records were burned and destroyed after being transferred to the cloud. You didn't need any extra problems.
It felt like you had a kind of key in your hands that could unlock a box to nowhere. Your readiness to face everything that awaited you at the bottom was unimportant. A minimum of feelings and a maximum of facts were required from you.

HAND IN HAND, INTO THE DEPTHS BELOW. - in which siren!reader tries to lure: azul, vil, lilia, malleus (all separately) TW: Implication and mention of drowning, mention of eating people
Art inspired by this post will be posted later!
