Do you ever wake up scared from a nightmare where something has happened to your parent(s), and you get an inexplicable need to make sure they are alive. Cuz I was thinking about that with Damien and Bruce.
Like Damien waking up with a gasp because he just dreamt that Bruce died in a brutal way right in front of him; and you know how in your dreams you can’t move as fast as you want to, that happeneds to him and he was stuck there forced to watch his father die in front of him.
And it takes him a moment to realize what happened but he eventually recognizes it was a dream. He knows the manor is safe and that no one could get in without anyone knowing. He knows that Bruce is fine…
But he has to go make sure, because what if that dream was his brain trying to tell him something. What if Bruce stopped breathing in the night and nobody knows. What if he’s had a stroke or a seizure… yea it’s better to just go check. A quick glance to make sure he’s okay.
So he goes to Bruce’s room determined to not get caught. Just in and out and he’ll go back to bed.
But Bruce has always been a light sleeper, and is always aware of his surroundings even in his sleep. He wakes up after hearing the floor creak ready to attack, grabbing the batarang that he keeps under his mattress ready to strike only to stop once he see’s Damien.
“Dami? What happened? Is something wrong?”
Damien just kinda stands there shocked at how quick Bruce went from Batman to Bruce so quickly.
“Nothing is wrong father, I’m sorry for disturbing you. I will go back to bed.”
Damien turns to leave only for Bruce to stop him. “Damien” Bruce calls out softly “Would you like to sleep in here with me tonight?” he says, with a fond look on his face.
Damien silently contemplates Bruce’s offer, not wanting to look weak in front of Bruce but wanting to stay.
Bruce can see the turmoil on his sons face, so he just scoots over on the bed and lifts the blanket. Not saying anything to rush Damien but letting him know he wants him there.
At his father’s actions, Damien silently crawls into Bruce’s bed. Bruce covers them both, letting Damien have his space.
Wanting to know what happened to make his son want comfort, but not wanting to push. But he can see that something is wrong.
“Dami” Bruce calls out. “Are you okay?”
“Of course father, why would you believe otherwise.” Damien says not looking at Bruce.
Bruce throws a look his way that Damien doesn’t see. “You don’t normally come in my room at night.”
Damien doesn’t say anything for a while but Bruce can see he’s hesitant about something. So he just gives him time, just watching the different emotions pass on Damien’s face.
After a while Damien finally says “I had a nightmare.” And Bruce…, Bruce is familiar with those, he’s had them since his parents died. He knows what they can do to a person because he’s the living proof.
“Do you want to tell me what happened in your dream?”
Damien takes a long pause, so long that Bruce thinks that he’s not going to respond, but he eventually whispers…
“I had a dream that you died… and I had to watch as you were brutally murdered in front of me, and I couldn’t do anything about it.”
There was a tense silence in the air after Damien spoke. Scared he just shouldn’t have spoken at all, but before he could make any type of move, Bruce turned and pulled Damien into his arms.
Damien stiffens at his father’s movements, not use to embracing like this with Bruce. “I’m sorry you had a nightmare, but I’m happy you came to me when you wanted to.” Bruce says as he rubs Damien’s back.
Damien goes slack in Bruce’s arm at his ministrations. In a small voice, spoken into Bruce’s chest Damien says. “I just wanted to make sure you were okay. I’m sorry I woke you up baba.”
“It’s okay Dami, you can always wake me up.” Bruce pauses for a moment before continuing. “I use to get those nightmares all the time when I was younger. I still get them from time to time.”
Damien looks up a little at Bruce’s words
“I would also crawl into Alfred’s bed when I had them. Most of the time they were about my parents, but a lot of them were about Alfred dying. So I would go check on him while he slept as well .”
Damien’s face looks shocked at what Bruce just told him. Not expecting Bruce to admit that he use to crawl into Alfred’s bed. But it makes him feel better knowing that Bruce understands his feelings.
Damien looks back down to hide in Bruce’s chest but also to discreetly listen to his heartbeat. Just to add that last bit of reassurance that Bruce was okay.
And that’s how they fall asleep, Damien feeling protected in his father’s embrace. Bruce stroking his son’s hair to lull him back to unconsciousness.
Both boys hearts soothed with Damien having learned something new about his father, and Bruce having physical proof that even though their relationship started out rocky, Damien cares deeply for Bruce.

"Dick had to take care of Bruce and teach him emotion"
"Tim had to mentally support Bruce when he became Robin"
Shut the fuck up, they did not. They did not have to do shit. Bruce learned from raising Dick and having Dick around, Dick did not have to take care of Bruce or shit. He learned from Dick behaving lile a kid and having to deal with that, not from Dick taking his hand and teaching him. Tim literally only had to be there for Bruce to be better, it is explained in A Lonely Place of Dying that Bruce needs a child to take care of, and that's what Tim is, a child Bruce can take care of. They weren't parentified to take care of Bruce instead of him taking care of their emotional and mental wellbeing. HE TOOK CARE OF THEIR EMOTIONAL AND MENTAL WELLBEING. Damn, with Tim, he does it when his parents don't. With Dick, it's the whole point how Bruce took him to take care of his emotional and mental wellbeing because nobody did for Bruce, and Bruce succeeded.
Stop infantilizing autistic adults. Bruce being autistic and having difficulties with communication, emotions and relationships because of it doesn't mean his kids were the one taking care of him. It means his kids had to learn how it is to interact with an autistic or neurodivergent person.
Bruce being well only when he has a kid to take care of is what is difficult for the kids, because it makes the process of becoming an adult more difficult when your dad needs a kid.
I challenge y'all to be able to talk about Bruce being mentally ill without painting it as a burden to his family, because that's the only way you ever do it.

You mentioned Bruce moving with Alfred’s posture and I wonder if Bruce’s extended family or people who knew the Waynes before ever interact with him and realise Bruce isn’t much at all like his parents, but is, in fact, Alfred Pennyworth’s son. The way he carries himself, his turns of phrase, his humour, the way he can look scandalised, maybe even his laugh has started to sound more like Alfred’s than Thomas’. He’s spent more of his life with Alfred, after all. It’s nature vs nurture.
He walks with purpose, when he’s not trying to show off or charm people. He walks like he belongs there and knows exactly what he’s doing. He’s confident and well-equipped and the last thing you will do is see him look uncertain. He carries himself like Alfred in that respect, and then like Thomas in the “I deserve to be in every room I walk into” sense, which when combined is a very compelling aura. Not only do I belong here, I know exactly what my goals are and just try to stop me.

Superbat babes, I need help with something. Everytime me and my friend Q get on the subject of superbat we always end up going back and forth with me trying to explain how they work and him telling me he doen’t see it (which is fine, to each there own)
But I feel like I never do a good job representing why superbat works so well. So drop your reasons as to why they work so I can show him. Thanx ◡̈♡

The true reason why the Joker killed Jason wasn't because he wanted to hurt Batman or anything, it was because One Time, after Joker was caught and was being dragged away, Jason made Bruce laugh So Hard that he had to use Jim Gorgon as someone to lean on, that people Genuinely Thought that he had been dosed with Joker Venom until he calmed down
But nope, just a really good joke
And from that day on, The Joker hated the second Robin with a passion

I was having sentient Gotham thoughts and I realized I mostly refer to Gotham as 'she' and I know that's not necessarily uncommon ('Gotham's knight and her prince') and that a lot of people use the good ole 'it' but the reason I bring it up is because I also had a realization that I, in my head, refer to Gotham with feminine names that start with G.
Initially it was Gloria but I've moved to jumping between Genesis (Because 'birth' and Gotham gave birth to Batman) and Grace (Because 'Her Grace').
So, that's cool :)
I think that’s really dope, I don’t personally use a name for Gotham. I just call it she or her. But I do really like the names you’ve given her.
Sentient Gotham is like one of my favorite head canons/tropes. It can make everything either a little more fun or that much more depressing. Depending on what you’re reading.
But it’s cool seeing what everyone can do with ‘Sentient Gotham’. Because she can either be really loving towards the batfamily, or she can cause so many problems for them, specifically Bruce.

Does anyone have some superbat fics where both Bruce and Clark are unnervingly obsessive with each other..
Like basically matching each others freak?.. well ig more Clark matching Bruce’s freak, because I don’t see Clark being obsessive with Lois.
Because 1. Lois wouldn’t tolerate that shit
And 2. I just don’t see that for them personally
BUT BRUCE.. they have to know where the other is at all times.
Bruce secretly puts trackers and cameras in all of Clark’s shit and Clark knows about it but he finds it hot. He purposely looks into them in his apartment just to tease Bruce.
Clark being possessive with Bruce at galas. Glaring at all of the high society people touching and dancing with Bruce. Seeing someone put their hands in places that only Clark can touch and kinda losing it. Passive aggressively stealing Bruce away just to pull him in a closet or something, kissing him within an inch of his life. Making sure Bruce knows who he belongs to..
And Bruce LOVES IT, because he doesn’t have to hide the crazy ass tendencies he has with Clark, because Clark is just as crazy as he is about the other.
ALL THE GOOD STUFF, so yeah, if you have fics like that. Please send them my way. ◡̈

the fic trope where the JL finds out Batman is married and someone loudly goes “You’re married? Who would be unlucky enough to marry you?” and poor Superman — AKA Clark Kent, AKA Bruce Wayne’s husband, AKA Batman’s husband — is sitting right there looking like someone just kicked his dog, which is to say, sad and angry all at once, but no one notices until it’s too late — that fic trope never gets old for me.

I can’t be the only one who has a hatred for the tag ‘Dick Grayson is Damien Wayne’s parent’.
I can’t explain it, I just can’t read fics where Damien calls Dick ‘baba’ and etc. idk, for me that is exclusively for Bruce.
And yes I do know that tag became a thing for the time Bruce was in the time stream, but I just can’t do it.
I just need my fics where Bruce is Dami’s father.

Batman x The Ghost Whisperer AU
I don’t know how many of you know or remember this early 2000’s show called The Ghost Whisperer. It was essentially this woman (Melinda) who could see ghosts and whenever she comes across one, she’ll try to help them move on instead of being stuck roaming around on earth. so she would help them “relay messages to their loved ones” so they can go to the other side.
So hear me out on this, Jason has just died maybe 2 months prior, and Melinda is in Gotham for some reason and she finds Jason.
I also took some creative liberties with this. In this AU Jason isn’t mad at Bruce, and he doesn’t get resurrected later on.
[ Angst w/ a bittersweet ending ~ 3,573 words ]
So Melinda is in Gotham for what ever reason and she just happens to walk past the gates of the manor. And as she’s passing them she see’s a kid that looks about 15 just standing in front of the gates.
“Hi, I think I’m a little lost. I’m looking for the train station.” She asks, the teen turns his head towards her with shock on his face. “You can see me?” he says with disbelief in his voice.
“Oh. You’re a ghost..” She says a little sad because he’s only a kid. “Yes, I can see you. I can see all ghosts.” She turns to look at the mansion the boy was looking at before. “Is this your house?” She asked and in the smallest voice the boy replied, “It was..”
She could see the sadness in the boys eyes as he said it. It was always sad seeing kids as ghosts, so she decided that she would help this soul move on.
“What’s your name?” She asks. “and without looking away from the manor he’s says “Jason.” Melinda nods. “It’s nice to meet you Jason, I’m Melinda. You’re actually the first ghost I’ve seen in this city, Which is odd. I was expecting to see a lot more, from what everyone told me about Gotham.” She says. “Yea, she told me that everyone that dies here just goes straight to some sort of after life. She said that since so much pain and suffering happens here, she doesn’t hold onto people’s souls. She lets them go.” Jason says
Confused, Melinda asks “who’s she?” “Gotham.” Jason says. “Ever since I died, she speaks to me. Tells me things so I’m not so lonely.” Melinda just stands there in shock so Jason continues, “Gothams an Eldritch City, she’s alive. Has been for hundreds of years. Apparently I was one of her favorite birds.” He says with a proud smile on his face. Melinda is not sure what to make of the information that Jason has told her, but not being to put off by it because she sees ghosts after all. “How does she talk to you?” Melinda asks. “She doesn’t take a form to speak to me directly. but it’s just little whispers in the wind, I can feel her presence in the air.” He answers. “Why did she hold onto you then?” Melinda asks. “She said that since I was her favorite bird, she didn’t want to let go of me yet.” Jason says as he shrugs.
There’s a short silence between them for a moment before she wonders why Jason’s just standing outside his home instead of going in. “Is there a reason you haven’t gone inside?, you know you can go see them right.” She says softly. Jason looks at her, taking his gaze away from his home. “I’m scared.. but, I miss my dad. I want to see him again and my grandfather too. I miss them but I’m scared to walk in. I’ve kind of just been watching them from afar.” Jason says.
“I could help you.. I could relay anything you want to say to them for you.” She says. Jason just looks at her so she squats down and softly says “I’ve helped other ghost like you before.” “What do you mean?” Jason questions, “I help ghost who have unfinished business, finish that business so they can move on and go to the other side.” Jason snorts looking away “Unfinished business huh.. that seems about right.”
Melinda noticed that there was a lot behind Jason’s eyes, like he was recalling something. “Jason, if you don’t mind me asking. How did you die?” Jason freezes with a haunted look in his eyes but doesn’t say anything for a long while. Eventually he looks at her again with the same haunting look on his face and whispers “I was murdered.”
Melinda gasps, not saying anything for a while. Just taking in that information. “Does.. does your family know where you are?” Jason nods and points past the manor. “They buried me in the back yard next to Bruces parents in the rose garden. It’s really pretty.” He whispers, a sad look on his face. They stay silent for a while.
“Would you like me to go with you and help you talk to them?” Melinda asks. “Yea.” he says softly. “I’ve been.. dead for about two months now. I’ve had time to deal with the fact that I’m-.” He pauses for a moment. “I’m.. I’m ready to go.” He whispers the last part. Turning to look at Melinda. “I just want to see them one more time.” She nods her head at him. She hesitantly reaches her hand out offering it to the boy for any sort of comfort she can give him. He takes it and she has a feeling that this boy has been through more than she could imagine but she wasn’t going to pry. Some things just weren’t for her to know.
They walk up to the manor together hand in hand and she knocks on the large door. It doesn’t take long for the door to open and to be greeted by an older man.
“May I help you?” The man asks, Jason squeezes her hand and says “That’s my grandfather, Alfred.” “Are you Alfred?” She asks. He looks at her assessing what she could want. “Yes I am, and you are?” He says. “My name is Melinda, I’m here on behalf of Jason..?” She says
Alfred stops. Eyes going wide, then he gives her a dark look. “I don’t know what you are trying to do. But I suggest that you do it elsewhere.” He says anger in his voice. “I know this sounds insane but please, I need to speak to both you and..” she turns to look at Jason because she doesn’t know the boys fathers name. “Bruce” Jason says. She turns back to Alfred, “Bruce. I need to speak to you and Bruce. It’s important.” She says quickly. Alfred looks at her for a long moment not saying anything. Just assessing her, trying to deduce if she’s trying to trick him.
After a while he lets her in. “Follow me.” He walks them down a corridor into a sitting room. “Please stay here while I go get Master Bruce.” Alfred says still eyeing her. Once he’s gone Melinda turns to Jason. “This is a beautiful home.” she says. “Yea, it’s huge right. My favorite room is the library. Me and B would sit in the little book nook that’s in there and read together.” Jason said with a small smile on his face. “What kinds of books do you like?” She asked him. “I really like Jane Austin books. Specifically ‘Pride and Prejudice’. Bruce would read that to me if I couldn’t sleep. I’d have a nightmare and crawl into his bed. He’d stay awake reading that book to me till I fell back asleep.”
As he recalls the memory you could see how much love he had for his father. “You sound like you love him a lot.” She said. “Yea, he’s done a lot for me. He adopted me from the streets. He’s emotionally constipated as fuck though.” He says with a laugh, “But I know he cares. He shows it in different ways.” He says looking out one of the many windows with a smile on his face as he says it.
Before she could ask anything else, she heard foot steps coming their way.
When she looks up she sees Alfred and what she assumes is Bruce, and he looks like he’s been through hell. He has dark under eyes like he hasn’t slept in weeks. His skin looks sickly pale. He’s running his hand through his hair to tame it. Over all he looks like a man that’s world has just been taken from him.
Jason inhales sharply “Jesus B…” Melinda turns to look at the boy. “I never got close enough to tell how bad he was doing..” says Jason. Bruce walks up to her, a stern look on his face. “How do you know my son.” Bruce says, no room for pleasantries in his voice, startling her. “My name is Melinda, I have a gift that allows me to see ghosts. I was walking past your gates and I saw him.” She says. Bruce stills, anger forming on his face. “You expect me to just believe that. What, did you think I’d just take your word for it. What do you really want.” Bruces says his voice rising and he gets visibly angrier.
She turns her head towards Jason. “Tell him, ‘Robin gives me magic’. He’ll know what it means.” Melinda turns back towards Bruce and Alfred, and quotes the boy. Both men freeze. “What..” Bruce says. “Jason told me to tell you, ‘Robin gives me magic’. He’s here with us, he said you’d know what it means.” Bruce and Alfred just look at each other. “Ms. Melinda you have to understand that we can’t possibly believe this. Saying that Master Jason is here with us, how could we possibly believe you.” Alfred questions.
“Jason told me that his favorite room here is the library, and that’s where he and Bruce read together, in the little nook that’s in there.” She says. Both men look at her with confusion. “How could you possibly-.” Bruce starts but Melinda interrupts him. “He said that his favorite author is Jane Austin, and that when he has nightmares.” She stops and looks Bruce directly in the eyes. “He climbs into your bed and you read ‘Pride and Prejudice’ to him until he falls back asleep.” She says.
Both men don’t say a thing. They don’t know how to react.
“Melinda.” Jason says. She turns her head to him, Bruce notices she’s looking at something that’s not there. “The night Bruce met me. I was trying to steal the tires off his car, and I hit him over the head with a tire iron.” He laughed at the memory. “It was also the anniversary of his parent’s death that day.”
Melinda looks at Jason with a confused look but complied. “Jason said that the night he met you it was your parents anniversary of the day they died, and he was trying to steal the tires off your car, he said he hit you over the head with a tire iron.” Bruce looked completely shocked. Backing up a little bit to grab onto Alfred’s arm. “How- how could you possibly know that.” Bruce asked quietly.
“Jason told me. He’s here too. I promise I’m not lying to you.” She says. “I’m here to help him move onto the other side. Souls that are stuck here have unfinished business, and I help them. He told me he misses you and Alfred.” As she says this Bruce turns around in disbelief. “He’s just been a ghost this whole time.” He asks. “Yes, apparently the only one as well.” Both Bruce and Alfred are confused by that. “What do you mean, ‘the only one’.” Alfred asks
“Apparently Gotham can speak to Jason now that he’s a ghost, and as he explained it to me. Your city is an Eldritch one. It’s alive and has been for a really long time. But Jason said that it doesn’t hold on to peoples souls because there is so much suffering in this city. So she lets them go.” “She explains. “Then why didn’t she let Jason go? He’s just been wandering Gotham for two months alone?” He asks with such desperation in his voice. “Jason said it’s because she told him he’s her favorite bird.” She sees a dawning of understanding wash over Bruces features as he starts crying, still desperately holding onto Alfred.
“I’ve.. I’ve never seen him cry before..” Jason says tears in his eyes as well. “He’s the stoic type you know. Keeps everything on the inside. I was always a little scared he didn’t like me as much as his first kid. For a long time I thought he was gonna try something with me, cuz you know. Why would some rich guy just adopt me; a street rat.” He says still watching Bruce. “But the longer I was here, the more I realized he just wanted to help. My biological dad was abusive to me and my mom, and she was a drug addict. I came home one night and she had overdosed. My dad left a while before that. So I was living on the streets for a while before Bruce found me.” He says watching his father fall apart.
A breeze comes from somewhere, Jason turns his head like he heard something. He turns back to Melinda, tears in his eyes. “Can you tell him something for me.” He asks, she nods her head. “Will you tell him that Gotham says she’s sorry for not being able to protect me.” He looks down before continuing. “She can help those who she chooses, but because I was outside of Gotham when I was-.. when I died. She couldn’t help me. She’s been wanting to apologize for a while but can’t talk to Bruce like she can me.” He says with a shaky breath.
Melinda turns her head down to try and collect herself, and failing. “Bruce.” She says with tears in her eyes, and a catch in her voice. “Jason said that Gotham is sorry for not being able to protect him. She can apparently help those she chooses but since he wasn’t in Gotham when he passed.” She had to stop for a moment, watching as understanding dawns on Bruce and Alfred’s faces. “She couldn’t help him.” She whispers.
Bruce turns into Alfred, collapsing into his embrace. Sobbing into the man. Not being able to catch his breath. Melinda, tears streaming down her face turns away from them to give them a moment. Looking back at Jason shock still evident on his face. Watching the tangible proof of how much his father loved him. He walks over to Bruce and stands in front of them, Just watching.
“He’s in front of you Bruce.” Melinda whispers. Bruce turning his head to look, Still seeing nothing. Tears running down his face. Then Bruce speaks, “Jason. Jason I’m so sorry I wasn’t there to save you. I was trying. I was trying so hard to find you. I was right there when- when you. When it.” His breath catches in his throat. Jason looks at him like he just learned something new. Fresh tears roll down Jason’s face. “I was almost there. I almost had you. My son, I’m so sorry.” He says, sobbing into his hands.
Jason turns his head to Melinda. “Tell him it’s okay. That I forgive him, it’s just good to know he was looking. I didn’t know he was right there before-.” Jason stops. “Tell him that I love him, and that the past 3 years were the best of my life. That being his Robin was the magic my life was missing.” He smiled. “And tell Alfred that his hot chocolate could cure anything. And that I love him too. And I miss cooking with him, and making fun of Bruce for being a disaster in the kitchen.” He laughs as he wipes his eyes.
As she relays what Jason has said, she watches as the emotions that reside on their faces. “He also said that he misses making fun of Bruce for being terrible in the kitchen.” Both Alfred and Bruce laugh a little at that.
Another breeze comes in and Jason freezes this time. He looks shocked. “What is it Jason.” Melinda says. Bruce and Alfred turn to look at her with question.
“Gotham said-“ he stops for a moment. “Gotham said that she would make me tangible for a while before-.. before she lets me go.” He whispers. Melinda gasps. “What, what is it. Is something wrong?” Bruce asks with worry. Alfred putting a hand on Bruces shoulder.
“Jason said that Gotham told him she would turn him tangible for a moment before she lets him go to the other side.” She tells them. Both of them becoming more alert. “What?” Bruce asks. “I’ll be able to see him?” He says. “Yes.” She says in disbelief. “I’ve never seen that happen before. Usually I’m the only one that can see-.” She’s interrupted by both Bruce and Alfred gasping as they turn and see Jason standing in front of Bruce. Bruce is stunned as he moves his hand up to Jason’s cheek. When his hand touches his face, he inhales sharply, and pulls Jason into him to hold him close. Jason clings onto Bruce, both crying into each other. Alfred holding them both with a hand in Jason’s hair.
“I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry Jason. I love you so much.” Bruce says into Jason’s hair. Holding onto him tightly. “It’s okay Bruce. It’s okay.” He whispers. Jason turns his head towards the hand Alfred had in his hair. “My boy, are you alright?” Alfred asks, tears in his eyes. “I’m okay now Alfie.” Jason said softly. They stay like that for a long while, holding onto each other because they knew. This was not permanent. Jason couldn’t stay with them.
As they hold each other a bright light shines behind them. Bruce and Alfred look up at it. “What is that.” Bruce asks. “That’s the other side. It only shows up when.. when a soul is ready to move on.” Melinda says. Bruce and Alfred freeze. Not wanting to let him go. “It’s okay Bruce, I just wanted to see you guys again.” Jason says. He looks up into Bruces tearful eyes. Bruce put Jason’s face into his hands and kisses his forehead. “Are you sure Jaybird.” Bruce asks, resting his forehead on Jason’s.
“Yea, Bruce. It’s okay.” Jason whispers. He turns to look at Alfred, He lets go of Bruce to hug the man. Clinging to him, “Alfred. Take care of him. We both know that he won’t.” He said. “I will, and I shall miss you immensely Master Jason.” Alfred pulls away to look him in the eyes. “I love you my boy. Don’t ever forget that.” Alfred says with conviction. “I love you too Alfie.” Jason says and hugs him again.
When they pull apart, he hugs Bruce one last time. Bruce holding his son in his arms for the final time, not wanting to let go. But he knows he has to. It takes everything in him to let go. Tears still running down his face, and Jason wipes them away. Looking him in the eyes and whispers. “Love you, dad.” Bruce gasps, more tears falling. Not caring how he must look. Resting his forehead on Jason’s again looking him in the eyes. “You are my son. Don’t ever doubt that for a second okay. I love you so much Jay.”
They pull apart and Jason walks over to the light. He turns around to look at his family just one more time, and smiles. He looks over at Melinda. “Thank you, for helping me see them again.” He says. “It was my pleasure Jason.” She replies, eyes red rimmed from her crying.
And Jason finally walks through to the other side.
There’s a long silence before anyone speaks.
“Is. Is that it. Is he just.. gone?” Bruce asks in a whisper, Melinda nods her head. “Yes, his soul has laid to rest. Jason’s at peace.” She says wiping the tears from her eyes. Watching both Bruce and Alfred look at the spot Jason was just in. She could feel that this family was different somehow. A lot of the things that Jason said didn’t completely make sense to her.
But that doesn’t really matter does it. All she needs to know is that Jason was loved, and will be remembered and missed desperately.
Clearing his throat Alfred says. “Thank you Ms.Melinda, for giving us this opportunity to see our boy again. And I apologize for our earlier rudeness.” as he walks closer to her. “It’s not a problem. I’m just glad I could help him.” She says with a small smile. She looks over to Bruce who hasn’t moved since Jason walked to the other side.. “Will he be okay?” She asks still looking at Bruce. Alfred sighs looking at his son with sadness in his eye and responds “I’m not sure yet. But either way, I will be with him until he is.”
Melinda gives Alfred a small smile and takes that as her cue to leave. As Alfred is walking her out the front door he says to her, “Before you go, I would like to tell you even though Jason’s passing has taken it’s toll on Master Bruce and I, it was a gift to see, and hug Jason once more. What you do for people is a goodness that this city rarely gets to see. So I thank you again, Ms.Melinda.”
“It’s not a problem Alfred. Take care, and tell Bruce that Jason truly does understand how much he loves him. Even if he can’t show it normally.” She says
“Will do, have a good night Ms.Melinda. Thank you.” He says.
“You too Alfred.” As she walks away, She realizes she definitely missed her train. but was worth it to see a family reunite, even if only briefly.

De-aged Bruce
I just thought about how I think everyone would react to “de-aged 10 year old Bruce.” Because we all know that at some point in Bruce’s life he figured out how to keep emotions and feelings off of his face, and out of his eyes.
At first they all freak out because “what the fuck?!? Bruce is a child!?” Then once they get him home. They find it hilarious. Because “why the fuck is he so cute?” He’s got the biggest blue eyes and he’s just so small, and they’re all about to die from cuteness overload.
But the second Bruce gets his bearings and realizes he’s in a dark cave with bats and surrounded by 7 strangers..
He freaks out.. Bruce screams so loud that he disturbs all the bats in the cave, and he runs. He tries so hard to get away, but he doesn’t know how to fight them off. He wasn’t taught, what he taught his kids at this age. So he’s extremely easy to catch. All the kids are stunned because this isn’t the Bruce they know.
Then they see Alfred rushing towards them because he was upstairs when he heard the scream, and even though he hadn’t heard it in over 30 years, he would recognize it anywhere.
“Master Bruce?” Alfred says softly and Bruce looks up so quickly, and when his eyes land on the man he starts crying. Trying so hard to get to Alfred but not being able to get out of Jason’s grasp.
“Master Jason, please let go of Master Bruce.” He says without taking his eyes off the child. As soon as Jason lets him go. He runs into Alfred’s embrace. Sobbing, and gripping onto Alfred’s shirt so tight that they think he might rip it.
And they watch Bruce try so hard to hide in Alfred’s neck and watch as Alfred tries to calm the boy down with the most frazzled look on his face the kids have ever seen. Then they all collectively go
oh.. Bruce is just a traumatized child.. just like them.
And he’s terrified of them, all except Alfred.. Once Alfred gets Bruce to calm down he falls asleep in Alfred’s arms.
“Let us all go upstairs, if Bruce is going to be a child for the unforeseeable future, we will need to have a discussion.” He says matter of factly,
When he returns back downstairs all the kids are sitting around the dining room table. Alfred sits at the head of the table and looks around at his grandchildren.
“What’s up Alfie?” Dick asks
He looks at them all with a straight face. “You all need to prepare yourselves for the version of Master Bruce that he is at this age. He is not anything close to what you’ve imagined your father to be. At this age he is just a child, no training, no outlet, no hidden emotions, and most importantly.. no guidance.”
“What do you mean?” Duke asks, Alfred looks down at his hands for a moment. “Even though I did everything I could for Master Bruce, he was a deeply unhappy child. Witnessing his parent’s death changed him fundamentally. You would understand the most Master Dick.., but the difference is that Bruce didn’t have someone to help him vent that anger.. that fear.. and the sadness.”
They all look at one another apprehensively
“You might think that he does not talk that much now. But he ended up being non-verbal for the majority of his adolescent life, and that is largely due to the fact that he was heavily bullied as a child.”
“What!?” They all exclaim
Alfred takes a moment to gather his words
“When Master Bruce went back to school after the passing of his parents, he was no longer the same boy they once knew, and high society children are cruel. Your father has always had large emotions and a even larger heart, even if he doesn’t show it now. I suspect that’s where Master Damian gets his love for animals. But they did many things to your father that is better left unsaid. But each day he came home, he was just a shell of the boy who use to thrive with life.”
Alfred’s eyes gloss over as he remembers the past. “Everything in the next years for him were awful. Everyone wanted something from him. Reporters jumping the fence here at the manor, and at the academy just to get to Bruce. All the galas that he unfortunately had to go to, he hated them so much, and it just got worse after everything.”
“Older business men and women trying to take advantage of Bruce to get to W.E.
That’s why he was so fiercely protective of each of you at galas. I could unfortunately not be there with him for such things. He wanted to make sure you all never went through the same.”
Alfred stops abruptly for a moment, he inhales quickly
“How old is he right now?” He asks apprehensively.
“We’re not sure, he wouldn’t respond to us but he looks about 10. Why?” Tim replies softly
“Because depending on how far it is into the year Bruce thinks it is. He was also recently kidnapped. I won’t tell you what happened because I am already over sharing Master Bruce’s secrets.” Alfred says
“Jesus Christ. He’s just a kid.” Steph says as she rubs her temples
“Quite right Ms.Brown, he was only a child. That couldn’t get a moment to grieve in peace.”
“After a while he felt that he couldn’t trust anyone. For a short period of time he didn’t trust me. He felt like everyone was out to get him and he couldn’t do anything about it, and he was right. So he closed himself off to everyone. His entire life it’s only been me and him.”
Then Alfred looks at Dick with a soft look in his eyes
“Then he found you Master Dick..”
Dick looks at him with confusion “What do you mean, ‘then he found me?’ “
“When I said the he was a deeply unhappy child, I meant it.” Alfred pauses for a moment to take a deep breath.
“I was terrified many times when Bruce was young, that he might take his own life. I stopped him once.. when he was 14.” Alfred pauses again
“He was never truly happy… until Master Richard came into his life. He didn’t have people to go out and see, he didn’t have things to go out and do. He was just surviving day to day with no life behind his eyes.”
“It got a little bit better after he trained to become Batman, he had a mission to focus on. But he didn’t have anything to live for. Until he found you on that fateful day Master Richard. Then you Master Jason. Tim, you found him. and I am always grateful for that. Damien you waltzed your way into his life but he wouldn’t have it any other way. He now has something to live for… All of you.
You all keep him going, even if you’re not on good terms all the time. He will always live for you. So I thank you all for keeping my son alive for this long.” He looks all of them in the eyes as he says it, to make sure that they understand what hes saying is 100% true.
“There is one more thing I need to let you know so you are not caught off guard.”
They all look at him with a sad look on there face that says “there’s more?”
“At this age Master Bruce does not know how to hide his emotions. With the way you are all attuned to notice every small detail of your father, you will see many emotions in his eyes.
“His eyes?” Jason asks
“His eyes use to be his biggest tell of how he was feeling. You could see every ounce of pain in them no matter the time. When he came back from his training, he taught himself to hide those emotions.”
“So just know that you will see all the things your father hides behind his mask.” Alfred says as he stands up from the table. “I will go sit with Master Bruce. He will not like to wake up alone if he has a nightmare.”
After Alfred walks off, the kids just sit in silence for a while because.. what the fuck?! They are all now terrified of scaring there father even more. They are also apprehensive and curious of the emotions that Bruce can’t hide away.
And they truly were not prepared for the pure devastation that was Bruce’s eyes. Every ounce of emotion that he had was told through them. Anytime they would attempt to get closer to him he would shoot them with a devastating look, showing how scared he was of them, it was like being sucked into a pool of sadness.
He was terrified of them. Flinching away from them anytime they were near. Gasping and running away to quickly find Alfred when they accidentally sneak up on him. The tears and devastation that run down his face when he’s reminded of his parents.
If eyes were the windows to Bruce’s soul, his shutters were always open. With sadness so etched into his irises. It feels like he was cursed with it.

I want a heartbreaking fic with the trope of
"Alfred Pennyworth is Bruce Wayne's Father"
It's in Alfred's POV starting with Martha and Thomas giving birth, and Alfred being handed Bruce and thinking "I think l'd die if anything happened to him." And it goes through all the aspects of Bruce's life through Alfred's eyes, with his internal thoughts.
Him being terrified that Bruce is going to take is life after his parents death. How Bruce no longer smiles or laughs. How he's just a shell of the boy he once was.
Finding out the Bruce has disappeared without a trace or a word to Alfred. Him being scared that something has happened to Bruce, and terrified over the thought that Bruce may never come home, and heartbroken that he may never see him again.
Bruce finally coming back to Gotham and Alfred realizing that this is not the same boy who left home, but a man who has gone through more things than he could imagine. Him realizing that Bruce is taller than he is now, larger to.
Bruce telling him that he's going to go out at night dressed as a bat to save Gotham, and the argument that ensues. Because he's scared that his boy is going to die on the streets of Gotham like his parents. But helping him anyway because his son has always been stubborn.
The nervousness when Bruce brings home a traumatized child from what was supposed to be a venture to get out of the house and do something normal for a change. Him not being sure if his son could look after a child.
Him seeing that Dick is actually doing some good for Bruce and watching as his son get's a little better each day taking care of Dick. Watching him become a father in his own right. Even if Dick doesn't see him that way yet.
Watching the devastation that the arguments between Dick and Bruce ensues. Knowing that Bruce is only scared of letting Dick go, but not being able to put that into words. Watching as each argument gets worse, the more Dick pulls away until it finally brakes and Dick leaves. Seeing the hurt that brings Bruce even though he unfortunately did it to himself.
Realizing that he picked up another child off the street.
Watching Dick come back just to scream at Bruce that he’s replaced him and gave the Robin mantle away when it wasn’t something for him to give. Seeing Bruce not form the right words to reassure Dick that he was not replaced, and making their bond break more.
Seeing Jason come out of his shell more and more, and watching the same effect Dick had on Bruce happen again with Jason. Watching as Dick comes back home more and more, and watching as Bruce and Dicks relationship starts to mend.
And then Jason dies, and nothing is the same.
The devastation of Bruce telling him that Jason was murdered. Bruce putting the funeral together quickly. Realizing that Bruce never told Dick about Jason until after the funeral. Their relationship snapping in two once again. The downward spiral that Bruce takes. Thinking, “He’s going to get himself killed, or he might do it himself.” And stopping him multiple times. Hearing his cries in the night, or him waking up screaming from another nightmare, and getting up to go into the kitchen so Bruce can “catch him there” and just sit with his boy for a long while. Knowing that nothing he can do or say will help his son.
Watching as he becomes more and more violent when he goes out at night, and not knowing what to do for his boy. Then seeing a small child come along and force his way into Bruce’s life. Watching Bruce try so hard to turn this boy away. Telling him to go back home. But the boy not listening. Tim is the child’s name, and seeing this boy do more for Bruce than he ever could. So even though it’s not a child’s place to fix a grown man, he is grateful. Because without Tim, Bruce would be dead by now.
Seeing Bruce get better but never the same as he once was, because he lost a child. His son. And Alfred has never been through that. But he’s grateful that his own son has not been taken from him yet…
Obviously there would be more but I can’t write all that down in a formate like this and I can’t write actual stories to save my life. But I hope you see my vision. In this fic it would also end up Superbat because they’re in love and you can’t tell me otherwise.
Bruce, visibly overwhelmed by Emotions as he watches a ten-year-old Dick goofing around in the batcave: Alfred. Alfred I think I'd die if something happened to him
Alfred: *carefully doesn't say that he thought the same thing when Martha and Thomas placed a newborn Bruce in his arms for the first time because he knows that'll completely destroy the little emotional bandwidth Bruce has*

I just had a idea for a prompt for a Superbat fic. One of my favorite things I have a headcanon for in Batman stories is Bruce’s emotions being so much that he can’t help but have them show in a moment of panic.
And this is not really a trope you can find in Batman fics because Bruce is so trained to not panic in stressful situations.
But I was just thinking like what if there was a fic, where Bruce and Clark are dating in secret and nobody knows not even the kids; and there’s this huge fight that everybody is hands on deck for. The Justice League is there, the Teen Titans are there, and so are all of Bruce and Clark’s kids.
And something happens to Clark to where he’s down and he’s injured badly, and the sun is not helping him at that moment. (It could be because it’s cloudy, Something covering the sun, or he’s just so badly injured and there’s enough kryptonite around to keep him from healing)
And while Clark is down, they managed to defeat or subdue the villain. Afterwards everybody runs over to Clark who’s bleeding out. And Bruce is the first one there and he’s trying his hardest to help him. He’s putting pressure over a wound that’s bleeding profusely. And he’s frantically talking to Clark because he knows it’s bad this time.
And everybody’s surrounding them, and there are a few others also trying to help Clark. But something happens and Clark’s heart stops. For a moment nobody moves, nobody even breathes. Until Bruce absolutely loses it.
He’s screams so loud that it makes everybody jump, and it’s such a scream that you could hear the desperate plea in it. He’s frantically giving Clark CPR while crying, Screaming “No, no, no! Clark come on don’t leave me” “Please don’t leave me.” “I can’t do this without you.” “You promised me you’d stay.” “I CAN’T take another death! Please!”
And everybody’s watching in stunned silence over how badly Bruce is freaking out. Because Bruce never freaks out. He’s always calm and collected. He’s the first person people turn to in situations like this one. But he’s hyperventilating. Tears are coming out from underneath his mask. His voice is going horse from the scream he let out. And nobody knows what to do for him.
The kids are all crying or on the verge, and seeing their father or mentor break down scares them even more. Because if Bruce is this panicked they know it’s probably over, and they don’t know what to do with that information. Dick is holding Damien and Jason against him. Tim and Kon are holding onto each other. John is clutching Damiens hand. Cass, Steph and Duke are motionless. The last time Bruce was like this was when Jason died, but the only person that saw him in that state was Clark.
But after a minute; which felt like an eternity. Clark takes a breath and opens his eyes.(They didn’t notice that the clouds had uncovered the sun slightly and Clark had started to slowly heal), Bruce throws himself at him. Sobbing even harder than before. He pulls off the cowl and puts his ear down to Clark’s chest to make sure he can hear his heartbeat. When he looks up, Clark is already staring at him. And he can’t take it, that was the closest call they’d ever had. He throws himself at Kal and kisses him right there.
Everyone gasps. Bruce desperately holding onto Clark as he kisses him with so much love and desperation. It’s the type of kiss that says “I love you, please don’t ever scare me like that again.” When they pull apart, Clark is the first one to look at everyone around them. He’s looking at everyone’s shocked faces. From the Justice League to their children. He doesn’t know what to say, because Bruce is still holding onto him.
Bruce takes that moment to recompose himself. He turns his head towards everybody and assesses the damage. He pulls his cowl back on, and says “I’m taking Clark to the med bay.” He helps Clark up and they leave together. And if Bruce is holding onto Clark a little tighter than he needs to, that’s nobody’s business.
Once they’re gone, everybody turns towards each other with complete shock on their faces ,still overwhelmed by what just happened and the revelation about their teammates and fathers. Everyone looking at each other silently asking the question “Did anybody know?” From the looks on everyone’s faces, nobody did.
Dick looks around to his family “We… we should go check on them” he says softly still in shock. Dragging Damien, John and Jason over to the Bat-plane. The rest of the team following in complete silence, As it finally hits them that Bruce and Clark are much more than friends and it seems that they’ve been that way for a while.

Something that makes me so fucking sad is Bruce and Jason‘s relationship once Jason has calmed down a bit, and he thinks that Bruce has never loved him and Bruce not understanding that Jason thinks that he’s never loved him.
Because I’ll see all these interactions between them where it’s so obvious that they desperately want to hold onto each other, but Jason cannot let himself because he will always think that Bruce does not want him and that he is not wanted.
And that literally makes me wanna cry because it is so obvious how desperately Bruce wants his son back, but he does not know how to fix it. And Jason won’t let him fix it either because once again Jason thinks that Bruce does not love him.
And that’s one of the reasons that I can’t get behind Jason as much because it’s just this back-and-forth that would just be in easy fix if both of them just talked properly without getting angry.
But this is Batman, and Bruce and Jason are basically cursed so…

Clark is not the only kryptonian survivor.
Tim drake unknown to him was not only adopted but an alien as well.
But unlike Clark his powers didn’t kick in, most likely due to lack of sunlight or something.
That was all about to change, while looking for proof of Bruce being lost in time.
His powers activate whether due to having more heighten emotions or being out in the sun more.
They kick in as he was about to be stabbed in the spleen by league of spiders members.
But that’s not why they activated not to save his own skin.
He was watching his temporarily team mates being slaughtered, and that’s when red comes from his eyes and before he knew it, he was surrounded by bodies. By bodies he killed by lived he had taken.
He doesn’t have time to process this, he’s gotta save Bruce he will deal with this later.
And he doesn’t deal with that later even after saving Bruce, however the build up emotions the trauma and no one even discussing anything, the standard bat way, it all comes to light.
It starts with Bruce beginning to learn what Tim did to get him back.
Bruce being a concerned parent who can’t articulate shit properly, so when he states something in concern it comes across as the opposite more criticising.
“If I knew you were gonna join the league and become a criminal Tim I wouldn’t have left information behind for you to follow.”
Tim eyes widen, he felt anger he lost so much did so much just to get him back to only be told that.
He felt a familiar warmth come to his eyes, the same feeling he had right before he killed members of the league of spiders.
“No.”
He covers his eyes.
He doesn’t want to hurt them he doesn’t.
But Damien never misses an opportunity to attack.
“Pathetic your crying already and fathers has barely done anything, disgraceful.”
Cass is the only one who notices Tim shift in behaviour, he feels more dangerous then he should.
She’s about to make a comment when, suddenly red light comes from his hands through the small gaps, shooting out. Destroying one of the glass cases.
Everyone in the cave eyes widen, Bruce immediately gets up from the batcomputer chair, worried.
“Tim you need to calm down-“
He doesn’t get to say much more when Tim tries to shout to tell them to go away, when ice fog just comes out from his mouth.
Bruce eyebrows knitt together along with Damien, they’ve both seemed to realise something before everyone else.
“What’s happening to me?!”
Fear in his voice, Tim was panicking losing even more control then he had already, that’s when Bruce makes a split second decision and shouts.
“Clark!”
Just in time to, as red escapes Tim’a hand again about to hit Bruce but instead hits Clark’s chest.
Tim removes his hands, he knows he can’t hurt Clark. Clark will protect them from him. But as Tim stares up at Clark with fear, relief, regret and guilt.
He notices Clark stares back down at Tim with shock and hope.
And that’s my small shitty Drabble. (Grammar will be terrible lol.)

Does anyone have any fics where Bruce has to publicly protect his kids as Bruce Wayne? There’s just something I love so much about that trope.

Battinson is not meant to be pulling women. The movie explicitly says he’s rarely seen outside the manor, he hasn’t grown into that persona yet. That’s the entire point.
Sure maybe for RP’s Batman. But what about the other ones? Isn’t Bruce Wayne’s whole shtick to be a playboy? None of the actors casted as Bruce Wayne give that… at all
And even if they stated in RP’s Batman that he’s rarely seen outside the manor. He’s still supposed to have that beauty factor that draws ppl to Bruce Wayne, and he doesn’t give that.
Now I do understand that Battinson is very anti-social and I’m not asking them to take that away from him because I like Battinson. Give me a wet sad emo boy all day. Like 💋 muah chefs kiss 🤌🏽. It doesn’t negate the fact that Bruce Wayne is supposed to be swoon-worthy.
