A few months later…

It was all coming together. Willy worked day and night, creating the chocolate factory, all while coming home late and still helping with the babies. Your man barely slept, and you knew he was tired, but he was determined to create the most spectacular chocolate factory that the world had ever seen. You were just glad that he had hired an entire staff to help him, so he wasn't doing it all on his own.

Finally, he allowed you to come and work with him as well. He didn't want you to go back to work too soon after giving birth. But you insisted that you were ready.

The first day, you brought the babies along to see their father's work. They had grown so much. They were crawling everywhere, and so interested in the world around them. Their hair had thickened and become curlier, and they had plump, healthy little bodies. Maple was sweet and cuddly, and you were able to tie her hair up into tiny ponytails on the top of her head. Mocha was sweet too, but he could be a little too adventurous, almost to the point of getting into mischief.

You carried Mae and Willy carried Mocha into the chocolate room. This room was going to be special; you could tell by the way Willy had talked so excitedly about it.

"Alright, it's just behind this door." he said, turning the handle. He looked at you, biting his lip.

The door opened, and you didn't know where to put your eyes. The room was vast, with vibrant colors. Lush green grass, giant mushrooms with whipped cream spots, edible flowers of all shapes and sizes, and trees that rained gumballs. And trees adorned with giant gummy bears as well as multi-colored candy canes. The walking path was a rainbow of lights under your feet.

"Everything you see is edible, y/n." he said, setting Mocha down to explore.

However, the most jaw-dropping thing was the centerpiece chocolate river that flowed all through the room.

You were speechless, it took you a moment to really take it all in.

Willy took Mae from you, letting her join her brother in chewing on the candy grass.

"Willy...this is incredible. It's like nothing I've ever seen."

He came over to you, taking you in his arms. He kissed you, smiling softly as he pulled away. "It's all I ever wanted for myself, but I did it even bigger because of you and the babies. You, my family, are my biggest inspiration."

Your heart melted, and your eyes welled up with happy tears. "Oh, Willy, we are so lucky to have you. You work so hard, and we are so proud of you." you looked around the room again, "This is like a dream."

"It's just Pure Imagination, my love." he looked into your eyes, "Come with me." he said with a nod. He picked up both of the babies and started a stroll through the candy room.

You were delighted to follow them, and watch your children ooh and ahh at their father's creations. All the while, Willy sang his little tune, which he used a lot at home with kids, "Pure Imagination." His voice was so angelic. Maple and Mocha were mesmerized every time their father sang. You were certain your children would know the song by heart by the time they started to talk in full sentences. He had been singing it to them since they were still in the womb, after all.

You could see your future. Your curly headed kids growing and running amuck through daddy's factory. Willy would let them have all the sugar that they wanted, within reason, of course.

Now that Mr. Hudson had granted you a divorce, you had a vision of a magical wedding with Willy, sans candy. Sugary treats were your life with Willy, but you were both happy having a traditional wedding without all the busy colors that came with your Wonka treats. Mocha was the ring bearer and Mae the flower girl. It would be absolutely perfect; a day full of pure love.

One evening, Willy came home, all excited. "Honey, your office is ready. Let me show you." he said, grinning widely and taking your hand.

"Whoa, whoa, Willy, who is going to watch the kids?" you giggled.

"Oh, I've got that covered." he said confidently, opening the front door of your home to reveal Noodle and her mother, Dorothy.

"Hey, y/n!" said Noodle, her eyes already searching for the little ones she adored. Once she spotted them in the living room, she ran to them immediately.

You greeted sweet Dorothy, thanking her for babysitting as well, and then you and Willy were off to the factory.

Willy showed you your new office, and it was spacious and cozy. It was the perfect workstation! He even took the time to put up a couple of photos of the twins on your desk, as well as a vase of fresh flowers for you.

But he was more excited to show you something else. He led you to another room just down the way from your office. He put in a secret code that was several digits long. “Alright, my love, I hope you like this.” he smirked.

You walked in, seeing a queen-sized bed in the middle of the room and suddenly you were realizing what this room was meant for. There were big jars of different chocolates and candies all along the walls. Large ropes of red licorice hung on hooks. There were oversized candy canes as well.

“Wow. You continue to surprise me, Mr. Wonka.” you said, in awe of the…playroom.

“The walls are stone, of course, so no one can hear what goes on in this room.” Willy took your hands, “Honey, there are things that I want to experiment with, but just for us two. I hope you’re comfortable going on this…sexual journey with me?”

“Oh, yes, Willy, of course!” You kissed him, “I can’t believe you went to such lengths for me. It's so sexy. I love you, baby.” you then nuzzled your nose against his.

You were lifted off of your feet by him, and you cried tears of joy as he spun you around with glee.

Mogtober 2023: Day #8

(late again, but I like this one and have an idea for it)

Prompt: A Nevermoorian Shop

"Wait! Hold on! I need to get one more thing!"

Morrigan thought this was probably the third time Hawthorne had said this by now, but she was so amused by him that she didn't complain.

The two of them, along with Cadence, had planned a sleepover at the Deucalion one autumn weekend, and presently the trio was down at a quaint little corner shop, loading up on candy and snacks for their event.

The particular shop they were in was full of all manner of corner-shop type things, and coupled with its warm, glowing ambience and the way the interior was decked out to look like the inside of a fairy's forest home, it felt nothing like any old convenience store, which made it a popular stop among kids and teens.

Morrigan and Cadence had already made their purchases, but Hawthorne kept getting distracted by things he found exciting. His arms were already loaded with sour gummy dragons, glow in the dark slime putty, pickle flavored soda (for "Truth or Drink"), and one or two other snack items.

"Okay, but make it quick," Cadence sighed, plopping down on a little mushroom shaped cushion near the door.

"What, you don't like this shop?" Hawthorne asked.

"Yeah, I like it. I'm just impatient to watch you lose miserably to me in Scrabble," she answered, tapping her fingers on the small wooden box that held her new game. It was her first very own personal Scrabble set, but she was already quite good at the game. She was certain she was way better than Hawthorne bragged about being, but she wanted to prove it.

"Ok, I'm hurrying, I'm hurrying!" Hawthorne said. "But I'm not convinced you're gonna beat me."

While he made his purchase, Morrigan and Cadence busied themselves talking over what they planned on doing when they got back to the Deucalion. Soon enough, Hawthorne came waltzing over carrying his goods, and something else unexpected.

"Look what I got!" he sang excitedly, holding up his treasures, which turned out to be three helium balloons on long strings wrapped securely around his hand.

"Balloons?" Morrigan said quizzically.

"One for each of us," Hawthorne beamed, unraveling the strings to hand them out.

"Really?" Morrigan's eyes went wide. Suddenly it felt super special somehow. No one had ever given her any kind of balloon in her life, even though she could remember finding them fascinating when she was little and had always known in the back of her head that it was something every kid got at some point.

Hawthorne didn't reply, just handed hers to her. It was stylized as a black cat face with an adorable pink nose, and just the one Morrigan would have picked for herself, in remembrance of the black kitchen cat she had liked back at Crow Manor.

Naturally, Hawthorne's balloon was a dragon, all shiny with blue and teal and purple scales. Cadence's was colorful, too, but it wasn't shaped like anything interesting, just a regular round shaped balloon, and on each side was printed the words. . . .

" 'Im sorry'? " Cadence demanded. "Hawthorne, why is mine an 'I'm Sorry' balloon?"

"I thought it was fitting," he shrugged. "Because I'm sorry I have to put up with you, and I'm sorry you're gonna lose at Scrabble later!"

"You turd," Cadence mumbled.

Morrigan had been speechless so far, but now she found her voice.

"I've never actually been given a balloon. Thanks, Hawthorne."

"Yeah, well, don't get too attached to it," he advised.

"Why not? Don't they last a while?

Hawthorne chuckled knowingly as he pushed open the door to exit the shop.

"Helium balloons never last long around me."

"Why not?"

"Ohhhh!" Cadence suddenly had a realization. "I know why."

"Why?" Morrigan demanded. "What is it? What's the deal with helium balloons?"

"You'll find out," Hawthorne said, grinning. "Come on, let's go."

No matter how much Morrigan pressed, she could not get Hawthorne or Cadence to tell her anything about why helium balloons were so significant the whole walk back. Hawthorne kept saying she'd find out "when the time was right." Cadence wouldn't offer any information, other than, "Don't let him fool you. It's really stupid."

When they got back to the Deucalion, they all ate some supper, and then their evening of activities officially began. They had discovered another special new room in the Deucalion, which was really not much more than a closet, but inside there was a rope ladder, and when they climbed up it, they arrived in a big, wonderful room on the very top floor that had arranged itself into the perfect sleepover room, complete with a glass domed ceiling that looked up at the stars. This is where they dumped most of their snacks and other goods, but Cadence demanded her Scrabble battle against Hawthorne be held in the Smoking Parlour.

"But why not up here?" he protested.

Cadence only said, "My game, my challenge, so I get to choose the setting."

The game actually got quite intense for a tabletop game, and Morrigan found herself on the edge of her seat watching them (she could play in the next round, but this was a long-awaited battle just for Hawthorne and Cadence.) It was quite a close game, in fact, but in the end, Cadence did win, and Hawthorne let out such a loud, dramatic wail that Jupiter had to come in and check that everything was okay.

"He's fine. He just lost a game," Morrigan explained.

Jupiter tried rather unsuccessfully to hide a smirk, and told Hawthorne he'd rival Frank for dramatics.

After more Scrabble, Hawthorne's infamous Truth or Drink, and an almost illegal consumption of snacks and candy, the mood was quite hilarious.

Then Hawthorne decided it was time for the helium balloons.

Morrigan watched in horror as he used a pocket knife to make a small slice in his beautiful dragon balloon. The next thing he did was even more ridiculous. Before too much air escaped the balloon, he brought it up to his face and inhaled deeply from the spot where he'd sliced it.

The next thing Morrigan knew, Hawthorne was talking, jabbering about something in between giggles, but the voice that was coming from him was NOT Hawthorne. Instead, it sounded like he'd been hijacked by a giddy chipmunk. Even though she was bewildered, she couldn't help letting out a laugh.

"What did you do?" she asked.

So once his voice went back to normal after a few seconds, Hawthorne introduced Morrigan to the hilarity of inhaling helium. She was hesitant to slice her pretty cat balloon, but Cadence said, "Just use mine. It's stupid anyway."

Morrigan was blown away in disbelief when her own voice surprisingly shot up several octaves. The biggest surprise was how it was totally out of her control. It made her feel giddy and lightheaded, and when she laughed at herself it sounded even more ridiculous than her talking. Hawthorne was practically in tears with laughter at her by the time it wore off a couple moments later.

"Ahaha, it's so awesome! Your voice is so high, you could sing opera with Dame Chanda!" He guffawed and wiped his eyes. Morrigan laughed, too, especially when Hawthorne breathed in more helium and started singing some musical scales just like the ones Dame Chanda sang when she was practicing. Of course, Morrigan wanted to try it again, too. Pretty soon, even Cadence was reluctantly laughing, although she still refused to do it herself.

Amid the ruckus, the door popped open and a familiar black eye patch appeared just as Morrigan and Hawthorne were collapsing in squeaky giggles after attempting to sing a duet.

"What in the Seven Pockets is all this commotion?" Jack demanded, scowling.

"He-he-hELIUM!!" Hawthorne managed to say. Morrigan produced the crumpled up remains of the dragon balloon to show.

"Inhaling helium?!" Jack said with horror. "Don't you know that's ridiculously bad for you? It deprives your brain of oxygen. You could pass out from that!"

"You don't have to mansplain it to them," Cadence said. "I don't think they care what it does at this point."

"It's such fun, though!" Hawthorne insisted. "You should try it."

"Absolutely not." Jack folded his arms defiantly.

But if there had been commotion before Jack came in, the next few minutes saw even more of it as somehow Hawthorne, Morrigan, and even Cadence managed to team up against Jack, tackle him into a corner, and shove the "I'm sorry" balloon over his face just enough that he was forced to breathe in some of the helium.

"Stop it, you idiots!" Jack roared - or tried to - but of course, his voice came out all high-pitched and clown-like, taking away all the seriousness and rage from his command. It was too funny, and everyone practically fell over each other laughing.

At that moment, Jupiter came onto the scene once again. When he heard what had transpired, he actually scolded them, and told them they should never, ever force someone do anything against their will, and made them all apologize to Jack. Their mood had toned down by the end, and they did truly feel bad that they hadn't used their brains. (When Morrigan expressed this, Jack just said, "Yeah, I told you it would mess with your brains.") Then Jupiter told them no more helium balloons for the night, which was mostly irrelevant at that point because Hawthorne's and Cadence's were all depleted of air anyway. But Morrigan's black cat was still fully intact, and she begged Jupiter to let her keep it if she wouldn't cut it open.

"Promise?" he said.

She reached out and hooked her little finger through his.

"Promise."

His eyes softened, and he agreed to let her keep it.

After he left and Jack had also stomped moodily out of the room, the three looked at each other in silence, the mood significantly dampened. Then Hawthorne said, "Hey, I know what we can do!"

Thus commenced a search for his glow in the dark slime putty, a short hunt to turn up some old pairs of glasses from the theatre's costume room, and some white rain ponchos that were lying around. The three traipsed back up to the sleepover room, which was quite dark with the lights turned out, making it perfect for the next part of Hawthorne's plan.

He told the girls to wait for him, but they had to keep the lights off, and he'd be back in a minute. In the dark, Morrigan began to think about the spooky stories she would tell later, and got so deep in thought that she forgot all about Hawthorne, and almost jumped out of her skin when the door busted open and suddenly a strange ghostlike creature appeared with glowing green eyes and a weird rustling sound about it.

Morrigan very nearly screamed out loud, and she and Cadence instinctively grabbed each other's arms in the dark until a split second later they realized the ghostly apparition was just Hawthorne, of course. He glided toward them wailing frighteningly, but they'd already put the pieces together.

"You goon!" Morrigan cried, lunging at him and pulling on the white rain poncho that was creating his ghostly appearance and producing that rustling sound.

Hawthorne laughed, and then they all wanted to take turns trying their ghost impressions. Just as Hawthorne had done, they stuck the green glow in the dark slime putty to the insides of the glasses lenses, put the glasses on their faces, and then adorned themselves in white rain ponchos with the hoods over their heads. In the darkness, they truly looked strange and scary. Morrigan decided to work the costume into her spooky story, which turned out almost as disconcerting as the Hall of Shadows experience. Hawthorne applauded her and praised her for being truly creepy.

By the time they all fell asleep that night, they each separately determined to themselves that it had been a splendid time.

Spring Crossquarter {Beltane} Fantasy Feast

We are nearing the pinnacle of Spring! I long for the day when I can have the most dreamy aromatic sensual Beltane feast and celebration. However creating visual boards is the first step towards that reality. I did go overboard with some of the selections with this one, like I tried to be more Honest in my Imbolc and Ostara board (like as if I were to actually have a feast and constructed a menu) but this one I did not care about portions or the amount of dishes present, I just threw everything in there.

As I have decided to update my 2016 fantasy feasts Beltane was next after Ostara and Imbolc. These visualization posts have helped me manifest some incredible celebrations and gatherings and as my tastes have gotten more extravagant and complicated its time for an upgrade.

In the read more there are the recipe links and additional explanations on personal symbolism and of course the image credits! I also always plan my feasts to be vegan inclusive for those with dietary restrictions but also aim for all the food to be somewhat local which matters in these seasonal feasts since it's celebrating local nature. Anyway there is something for everyone here.

1: Starters Since we are in still in Spring of course there will be a crudité board, yet unlike Ostara which was refreshing and green, this would show all the floral extravagance of spring from the zesty radishes, edible flowers (Romanesco broccoli is technically a flower!) to floral seasonal toppings. To make the dip vegan for all to enjoy I would go for an Oatley crème fraiche dipping sauce I would infuse with some olive oil and chive blossoms. Along with this I would love to have the delicacy of chive butter snails with chive flowers. Not everyone would be adventurous for snails but there are a lot of other ideas here for starters such as the Creamy Garlic Scape with Chive Flower Pesto tart. Or the Purple Pansy Salad Rolls which would be a nice addition to the crudité board. Lastly I just love the presentation of the butterfly sandwiches. I'd imagine them to be like the little cucumber or spiced egg sandwiches you'd get at high tea. If I were to slap all of these dishes into one feast I would mostly have the crudité board with the scape tart and the snails. I am unsure about the rolls and sandwiches because it would just be really filling before the main course! But they deserve to be seen haha.

2: Sides The bread choice would be chive rolls. To accompany this would be floral compact butter. A lot of flowers are actually more savory and salady then fragrant and sweet. Even some of the more aromatic blooms have a vegetal undertone to their flavor which is why the violet vinaigrette caught my eye. That would definitely accompany the artichoke veggie main where guests would be able to dip each artichoke petal in. Lastly there will definitely be asparagus locally grown as they taste incredible when fresh out the garden. The ones the local garden I volunteer at taste so aromatic yet also slightly meaty? It's hard to describe but incredible sensual like the same way truffles have a somewhat "meaty" or umami flavor to them but are very aromatic.

3: Mains The Main two dishes would be an aromatic duck served with a side of spring onions sliced into blooms. Duck also has such a fragrant and rich flavor to it that would accompany the floral salads and dishes very well. The vegan option would be roasted artichoke that guests can dip into the floral vinaigrette.

4: Desserts Ok this is definitely where I have gone overboard but there were too many dishes to choose from which made the selection difficult so I just included all of them for the visuals. If I were to host this feast I would realistically just pick 1 or 2 of these things (A cake and a tart) but for each sabbat I have a special dessert, a tart and a simple cake in mind so it would really depend on how many people are attending. For the special dish I would love a floral jelly, a floral panna cotta or floral jello cake like with blossoms or violets. The tart is rhubarb (I know in some regions rhubarb is very summer-y but mid-April is when it's season starts here in the UK) and the pound cake would be rose buttercream or violet sugar. I do love how buttercream can be easily shaped into flowery shapes so I’d be leaning towards that.  I just love the complexity and versatility of floral desserts. You do have to be a little familiar with what you're doing because floral flavors can easily go from sensual and enchanting to soap/perfume getting squirted in your mouth. Some flavors like rose and jasmine are very safe but others like lavender and violet can get edgy. A great way to balance those flavors out is adding honey as it balances it with a nectary undertone which makes you feel like you are eating delicious butterfly food instead of a block of soap. Lastly the Wondersmith's beautiful cake is very summer solstice vibe I will admit, but I really loved the presentation of butterflies and the elderflower blooms which are starting to bud around this time of year anyway so I thought it was worth adding in. Usually I would not include anything like strawberries in something like this as I feel they peak closer to summer solstice and are more symbolic to summer than spring for me and the region I live in currently.

5: Drinks Every beverage of course would be infused with more blooms and nectary flavors. I would love to serve fleurette cocktails upon arrival with fairy floss in them that would melt down upon pouring. Fleurette cocktails are pink prosecco, st germain (or elderflower syrup), rose water and a flower garnish. There would be so many options for non alcoholic drinks such as Lavender lemonade, floral teas and of course I would love to have a blooming tea being served in a glass pot during the main course.

Honorable Mentions: Rose Tea Turkish Delight Cocktail

6: Treats Ok finally last part!! This would probably be omitted from a real feast I would host because we would probably get our sweet-tooths satisfied by dessert, however I always feel like including this part as treats always made holidays more memorable for me as a kid. Each holiday had its specific candy or snacks and they were like memorable tokens you acquired and snacked on days later after the celebration. Especially the candy!! If there were kids present these treats would definitely be given in little goody bags maybe in flower pots or planters as buckets to encourage them to grow something for their garden in them. Some ideas for treats would be glazed sugar cookies (the butterfly ones), home made pixie sticks with edible glitter, rose pops (I also love the idea of dressing up regular lollipops as flowers), rose Turkish delights, violet candies and gummy worms. The only savory treat I can think of would be like kale chips.

A Goblin Tea Party

I have a cluster of cousins who are my Fairy Godchildren. They have requested a tea party, but "not too girly." All three are various forms of nonbinary,

I suggested a Goblin Tea party, because I've thrown fairy tea parties for years (decades, even) and shifting to a goblin aesthetic wouldn't be a big stretch.

I have a couple of 70s vintage tea cups with mushrooms on them (sort of like the one above), and I picked up a matching tea pot on eBay.

I also have a daisy tea pot of a similar era, and I made up some tea cups from a punch bowl set and transparent mushroom stickers:

I have more cups and stickers if necessary.

I have leaf-shaped plates and a gorgeous wooden platter that I just caught at Aldi that's a log cross section.

I want to serve Dirt Cake, Mud Pie, and a Yule Log cake (but without the Christmas elements.) Dirt cake is easy; pudding with crumbled up Oreos on top. I want to see if I can find some weird planters I can serve it in. (I'm looking at you again, 1970's kitch ceramics.)

Mud pie is an easy hack; do Mississippi Mud Pie and serve the whipped cream separately.

Yule log cake is a sponge cake rolled up and decorated to look like a log. Meringue mushrooms are a traditional accessory, so I want to make those for sure.

Here's the trouble; chocolate still smells gross to me. So I'm considering what other flavors I could incorporate into these treats to make it easier on me. Dirt Cake is dirt cake; and I don't have to bake it so I think that's fine. (I'm planning gummy worms and gummy bugs if I can get them.)

I'm thinking of maybe doing a pumpkin spice pudding pie for my mud pie? Dusted with cinnamon powdered sugar? Or brown sugar?

Caramel flavors for the yule log?

I'm planning a ton of mushrooms in a variety of color coded flavors.

I want to do some hard boiled eggs and I plan to try to get some smaller chicken eggs for it (to be all tiny and cute). Or maybe get some quail eggs.

I'm also going to order some Candy Rocks from The Peanut Shop, both varieties.

I have all manner of teas, so I'll have the kiddos let me know what they want. I have sugar in the raw cubes, and I'm going to look for miniature wooden tongs to serve them.

And a set of unbleached muslin napkins, artfully grubby (tea-stained) and embroidered with a mushroom on the corner.

Are you independent or dependent? Dependent as all hell. I’ll put my foot down on very certain things, but most of the time I prefer hearing input or suggestions from people I trust. I definitely think it’s something I still have to work on because I know I’ll have to be mostly independent at some point.

Have you had any candy this week? Yeah, I had a gummy worm this morning. Mom bought a box of Halloween-themed sweets and there were cupcakes had gummy worms on them alongside marshmallows designed to look like a tombstone.

Are you more afraid of tornadoes or hurricanes? Hurricanes are terrifying, but I’m used to them. We don’t get tornadoes at all so I’ll not only be unprepared for those, but would definitely be more afraid of them too.

I had watched it five years ago after my first breakup; I got to go to Sagada shortly after that breakup, so that movie was actually very therapeutic for me at the time because it allowed me to release my feelings the way Mace did, also in Sagada. Now I’m stuck at home and can’t travel and that movie just hurt too much to finish.

What ice cream flavor best describes your personality? I don’t really...pair ice cream flavors with types of personalities.

Would you rather work for a small or large company? Large, because I feel like I’d be challenged more in those and thus learn more. Also it just looks nicer on resumés, if I’m being honest. Smaller companies are ok too but I prefer those that already have a rep for churning excellent results and having a good track record for workplace culture, like the company I’m currently working with.

Where's your favorite place to buy clothes? Ukays. I used to not like them, but my mom and sister did a great job reeling me in and making me see the appeal.

What was the worst movie you've ever seen? Me Before You was such a waste of my time. What was the worst place you ever traveled to? Can’t say I’ve truly disliked a particular place we’ve been to. I will say that Chinese people have a...culture that I’m not used to, and I did not enjoy touring with a bunch of them during my cruise. They had buffet habits that I would consider unhygienic, they would sit at the same table my mom and I were eating at if there were available seats(??????? imagine if I just sat beside you at a diner while you’re having lunch?), and apparently it’s acceptable for them to actually look you in the eyes and point directly at you if they’re talking about you with other people. It was honestly a lot to put up with for six days, and the only reason I didn’t lose my temper was because my dad works in the ship and I didn’t want to cause him any trouble.

Apparently that stupid ass app took our order anyway after repeatedly canceling it, and I never got one fucking notification that our order was received. Tried to cancel Pizza Hut but they said they had already started making the pizzas, so in the end we had to pay for both meals. I had never been so angry.

But all movie theaters are the same anyway - pitch black, freezing, comfy chairs - so I just go to midscale malls where tickets would be like a hundred bucks cheaper since it’s gonna give me the same experience anyway.

Cuisine in the Avatar World

A fully comprehensive list of each nation’s cuisine identity. 

Air Nomads

The airbenders are known for their dedicated vegetarian lifestyle. Believing that all life is sacred they refuse to eat products that require the animal’s death. Their culture revolves around the preservation of the environment and not harming living creatures. In their own fashion air nomads have developed styles of farming that are minimal and cause no damage to the land. Additionally they love sweets- especially fruit pies and custard tarts. The Air Nomads are known for their excellent cooking skills for baking and steaming foods. 

Common ingredients and dishes found in their diets include; apples, bananas, plums, moon peaches, other fruits, eggs, flour, nuts, onions, pickles, soy, pies, dumplings, sweet buns, macaroons, rice, tofu, and other traditional vegetarian and vegan staples. 

During Taiyang’s time of airbending training she immerses herself into the Air Nomadic culture. She cuts out meat from her meals and supplements with lots of other protein rich sources such as eggs, tofu, etc. At first Taiyang finds she is loosing weight, and learns to eat more since she underwent a major food change. Unlike others, Taiyang actually likes the vegetarian style. The methods of sustainable living without causing problems to the earth resonate strongly with her. Additionally, she brews countless pots of tea for the nomads- to keep her delicate side of firebending in practice and enlighten them to various flavors. 

Water Tribes

These people commonly live on the ice. As it would happen, not much grows in that harsh and freezing climate. Due to this they had to become excellent fishers to flourish. As a stark contrast to the Air Nomads- meat is a heavily featured food group for the Water Tribes. To combat the sub zero temperatures they have adapted to making dishes that warm the body against the cold. It is also common to dry and preserve foods like jerky. 

Common ingredients and dishes found in their diets include; crab, sea prunes, seal jerky, fish, squid, prunes, seaweed, kale, platypus bear, possum chicken, arctic hen, soup, cotton candy, seaweed dumplings, seaweed noodles, and other fish / meat featured staples. 

When Taiyang arrives to begin waterbending training she has a rough time adjusting to the cuisine style. She’s never had seaweed before and some of the dishes disturb her stomach (and mind). As something of an opposite to her Sun Warrior heritage, Taiyang finds the Water Tribe food bland and bitter. In time she acquires a taste for fish and begins to bulk up in muscle mass from the rich and healthy meals (probably why Korra is so buff). She even ventures out with the hunters on fishing trips to improve her bending and cultural understanding. 

Earth Kingdom

The people of the Earth Kingdom / Earth Empire have the most diverse array of cuisine. Wide ranges of fruits, vegetables, meat, some fish, are found throughout the land from simple meals to wildly elaborate dishes. 

Common ingredients and dishes found in their diets include; several grains like wheat and rice, meats like chicken and duck, sea faring ones like crab, lobster, and elephant koi, eggs, numerous fruits and veggies such as apples, berries, bananas, cabbage, cantaloupe, dragonfruit, eggplant, grapes, kale, lettuce, nuts, mangos, mushrooms, oranges, papayas, pears, and watermelons, soy for tofu, chili for flavoring, soups, steaks, noodles, cookies, wraps, desserts, various flavors of tea, among so many other long ranging styles. 

As Taiyang comes to master her fourth and final element, she finds great joy in the vast scope of food options. To maintain her gained strength from the Water Tribe diet, Taiyang continues to eat incredibly healthy and keeps in shape with her tough earthbending training. When not getting beaten in sparing matches Taiyang finds interest in farming and helps around farms. 

Fire Nation

People from this culture put spices in just about everything. The spicy nature of the cuisine has seeped into their grains, meats, and vegetables. Like the Earth Kingdom, the Fire Nation employs numerous different ways of preparing meals. These people are also among the few who feature several snack items. 

Common ingredients and dishes found in their diets include; grains like rice, wheat, and flour, fish and meats like clams, crab, fish, duck, komodo chicken, komodo rhino, sea slug, squid, fruits and vegetables like apples, ash bananas, cabbage, cherries, figs, lychee nuts, lemons, ocean kumquats, lettuce, mangos, berries, tomatoes, and watermelons, dishes feature bread, cookies, dumplings, fire gummies, fire flakes, hotcakes, sausages, fruit tarts, mochie, noodles, soups, juice, as well as spiced tea. 

Taiyang finds this to be the most comforting and homely cuisine. While the historic Sun Warrior cuisine is not as fancy as the modern kitchen is capable it features more authentic meals that have not been distilled over time. The day before any pro-bending match Taiyang sits down to a fulfilling meal of Fire Nation dishes. Sometimes she even likes to experiment with different combinations of tea flavors.
