Meeting the Kids
Today was the day that Dick’s boyfriend, Danny, would be introducing him to his three kids. He has heard so much about the gremlin trio that he could recite how Danny adopted them and what they are like forwards and backwards in his sleep at this point. And as he fidgeted outside of his boyfriend’s apartment in Fawcett that was exactly what he did.
Ellie is Danny’s biological daughter that was officially put under his guardianship when he was emancipated at 17, but unofficially he has been watching over her for much longer. She is the oldest of the three, being 11. Exploring and causing untold amounts of chaos, usually with her two younger brothers, is her bread and butter in life. Will not hesitate to turn that controlled chaos onto you if you hurt her family, if the stories of what she does to her sperm donor is an indication. Tales of all the places he has traveled when he was in the circus and stress he has caused Bruce at galas are his best bet to not getting pelted with glitter the moment he walks in the door.
Billy is the most recent addition to the family after living on the streets for the last few years. He is the middle child at 10 years old. Being forced into foster care, which is a death sentence according to Jason, and living on the streets, which is apparently better than foster care (again according to Jason), has made him vary of adults. The only reason he trusted Danny enough to be adopted, was through a long campaign of food, a safe place to sleep that he could leave at any time, the other kids, and a few private emotional moments. From the stories he is a sweet kid whose swearing could make a sailor blush. He brought some of Alfred’s homemade food and stories of Jason for him.
Damian was taken in 6 years ago when Danny was 19. His birth family was in a cult, raising him as its heir before trying to sacrifice him to some higher being, when Danny found him. Even with the ruff start he is very in touch with his home country’s culture, Danny even getting in touch with people from his culture to teach the whole family so they can better understand and respect it. He is the youngest of the trio at 9 and loves animals. He has also seemingly inherited Danny’s adoption tendencies when it comes to said animals. He is also the most likely to challenge him to a duel for Danny’s honor, he does it to every potential partner of Danny's, much less one actually dating him. Mentions of Batcow while accepting said duel should help Damian at least tolerate him.
All three of them are the stars of Danny’s life. Dick has heard all about the bullshit Danny gets for being a father of three, two which are in the double digits, at 25 and how protective the Nightingale family is of each other. And that isn’t even counting his older sister, who he has met over the phone, and all the others claimed extended family. How often Danny has broken up with his partners over the kids or said kids driving out those partners if they didn’t think that they were good enough for their dad. So, no Jason, he wasn’t being paranoid, considering that they ran the last one out in tears, covered in neon, biodegradable glitter and paint, he was being practical!
What Dick did not know was that as he was panicking and making plans the gremlin trio was making their own plans. Plans of his demise.

Ace the bat hound becomes a ghost dog because he's such a good boy and dedicated to justice. Inspired off of this post here.
But, instead of being found out by Danny, it's the batfam's usual mystic contacts, like Constantine, that discover and reunite Ace and the Bats. Constantine muttering about how annoyingly resilient the particular brand of ghost is. From the infinite realms, Ghosts from there are a headache and a half to get rid of but portals, information, and really anything about it is far and few between since no one's been able to get into contact since some fight a couple centuries ago (Dark being sealed away). Justice Leauge Dark promises to let the family know if they hear anything or find any relevant information about the Infinite Realms, but since literally nothing has been heard from them in so long, no one really knows anything off the top of their head about it.
While Ace is technically supposed to be hidden away at home, he ends up sneaking along one day to help deal with Joker after the clown kidnaps Nightwing and/or Robin (Damian). The photos and videos of the event are blurry and smudged, but word of mouth gets around, and soon, the entirety of Gotham is celebrating the return of Bat Hound the Ghost, the very good boy back from the grave.
Meanwhile, things are going great for the family, just having Ace back makes everyone feel just a bit better (because Ace is a full ghost with a core and is helping to filter the currupt ectoplasm called Lazarus Water with physical touch). Jason is over more often and enjoys flopping on the couch with Ace for a quick snooze, Dick is over the moon to fight with Ace by his side again, Damian makes sure Ace is properly introduced to the rest of the animals that live at the mansion, Tim actually falls asleep semi-regularly now after Ace starts bothering him about being awake, and everyone else is reaping the benefits of having a bat trained dog that seems to be able to sniff out when they need a dog to pet.
Then these guys in white show up.
Ace had seemingly been on edge all night and when it was time to turn in for the night and let Signal come out for the day, Ace follows along, not listening to any command to stay home. Some of the others stay ready in the cave but they let Signal and Ace go out with the promise to call the moment something big happens.
Now, up until then, Ace's powers had been tallied up to: intangibility, invisibility, and occasional hovering/heightened jump. Every other exercise responded out as normal dog (except for the whole being dead thing). Maybe slightly higher emotional intelligence, but some dogs are just Like That. Through some tests, they do find that Ace has a new found hatred of Lazarus Water, but they don't find any obvious weakness that isn't a banishment spell which is as worrying as it is a relief.
So when these white suits start shooting using guns that glow the same green as Ace in Signals' vision and the shoots hit? Ace yelps in pain before seemingly barking out some kind of energy ball? And barreling into a wall so hard it cracked from another shot? Every single alarm that Signal can think to trip gets set off.
But not before one of the suits (one of the many suits, they're terrible fighters but there's just so many of them and two of them) takes out something that looks like a thermos and points it at Ace.
Within a second, Ace is gone.
Signal is so shocked he almost gets hit himself by the dozens of shots of energy blasts now aimed at him. He can't get to the white van in time before it speeds off.
----
I'm going to end this part here. I'm going to continue this in the reblogs but I also want people to take a crack at this story themselves! If you're inspired by this please put your thoughts or stories in the reblogs or tags!

If you take requests can you do a dc x dp with dead tired ship?
I love requests~! I really hope I got dead tired, ship, right. I need to find out the ship names. It's Tim/Danny, right? If not, let me know, and I'll fix you another one.
Tim really wasn't looking forward to meeting the new heir to Vladco. Usually, his parents didn't want anything to do with new money, as they thought that new money was too close to no money, but Vlad Masters was different.
The difference? He bought out almost all of Drake Industries' shares, and now Tim honestly thinks he owns more of the family company than his parents. Jack and Janet hoped to make good connections with the man and slowly but surely trick him into selling the shares back to the Drakes.
Tim thought if he was smart enough to get the people that bought shares of his family company generations ago, not just once but at least eight times, then Vlad Masters wouldn't be as easy to trick as they thought.
Then again, his parents aren't the best businessmen around. If they were, they wouldn't be flying through the family wealth, leading them to bankruptcy.
Tim would know.
One day, he looked at their books when he was bored a few months after discovering Batman's identity. He tried to tell his mom about it, but she told him that he didn't understand the business well enough to tell.
So he signed himself into college-level business courses online to learn it. She didn't appreciate his initiative.
"Remember, Tim, Daniel Masters is who you must befriend," Janet says for the third time as they climb out of their car. " Friendships are the ladders to climbing up in the world."
"Yes, Mom." He tries to smile at her, but all Tim wants to do is go back to the roofs of Gotham and watch the Bats.
Jason is supposed to start his solo patrols tonight, which is a big deal, and he's missing it. His parents weren't supposed to be back for another month. However, their latest job was canceled due to locals complaining.
His dad grumbled about people getting in the way of history, but Tim thinks it has more to do with his parents wanting to dig up an old cemetery......apparently the locals like their grandparent's resting place to be left alone.
Tim also thinks it's not lovely to dig there just because the locals are poor, so he may have hacked into the country's files and flooded the internet with the disrespectful attempt that his parents were trying to make. It received the right amount of backlash to stop the whole operation.
He then sent the community an anonymous donation so they could fix it up, get the gravestones washed, and the stories of the buried people turned into a book. It's the least he could do.
Tim's parents didn't realize the loss of funds only because he carefully hid his tracks with shell companies.
They are greeted at the door by Vlad Masters. He gives his father a handshake, compliments his mother's dress, and even offers Tim a gentle hello. Masters is known for being a bit of a humble hermit, soft-spoken but with sharp, intelligent eyes.
Everything he expects new money to be, down to his mannerism and even the way he stands. Tim would have been able to clock him miles away without even knowing his name.
"This is my son, Daniel," Masters says, patting the head of a frowning boy Tim's age. He stands just a bit away from Masters as if he does not want to be near him. Tim notes the way he shies away from Master's hand.
Interesting.
"It's Danny." The boy hisses. Mom's face tightens at his manners. She never liked children being heard instead of seen. Danny takes a small breath before smiling at the Drakes with a friendlier composure.
The hostility was only toward his father?
"Please call me Danny. It's my real name, not a nickname," He says, offering his hand for a shake. Tim fights a wince. As the son of a wealthy family and not the head, Danny is not supposed to initiate a greeting with Tim's dad.
He just told the Drakes he needs to be aware of high society rules, making him easy pickings. His parents jump onto that weakness like a lion on a trap gazelle.
"Daniel. It's lovely to meet you. " Mom's articulation is just a shade away from being mocking. Danny's smile falls off his face closing down into a near-emotionless mask. "How old are you, deary?"
"I'm old enough to still hear correctly, unlike you. That's not my name. It's Danny." He says much to mom's surprise. Tim guesses she's not used to people challenging her so directly. He learned that, too, while he was running Gotham.
The elites always made passive-aggressive backhanded comments to insult each other. The poor told you to fuck off to your face.
"You do not speak that way to my wife, Daniel-" His Dad starts, but Danny holds up his hand.
"You either call me Danny or don't talk to me." He says. "I don't need to waste my breath repeating myself."
Wow. Tim thinks, watching the red growing on Dad's face. He's cool.
"Are you going to let him talk to me like that?" Dad demands, turning to an amuse-looking Masters. The other man raises a brow, his gentle smile still on his face, but somehow it looks more....dismissive now. As if he was looking at a child demanding the impossible.
"Why ever do you mean?" Masters asks, "Your tone implies you were insulted, but that would mean you are upset with a child asking to be spoken to with respect. Surely, a man of your standing knows children deserve respect?"
"They need to respect their elders." Mom cuts in her voice like ice.
"He is my son, so I am his elder. Not you." Master counters, "But not to worry, I will remedy this issue. Danny will no longer be speaking to you disrespectfully, as I will not allow him to be near you."
His parents had a few seconds of looking smug until Masters waved his hand back towards the driveway. "Have a lovely night, Mr. and Mrs. Drake."
"Excuse me?" Mom cries, and Tim can't believe his eyes. The rest of the wealthy guests have caught on to the issue and have gathered near the windows and doorway to watch.
"That's Fruitloop for You can leave now." Danny chirps starting to look more like his father by the amusement on his face. "Except for him. He's cool."
He points to Tim, who flushes at the attention. He had been staring at Danny, taking in every detail of his expression and body language, fascinated by the fact he did not once seem intimidated. He didn't even look bored.
He seemed comfortable in his slightly slouched posture and confident in his skin and abilities. But his earlier behavior implied that just as he is confident in himself, he also doesn't think very highly of himself.
Tim's never seen anyone like that. It's strange. New. Exciting.
Heck, it was exhilarating.
Tim wanted to break Danny Masters' head open and figure everything about him out. It felt like a new case just begging him to uncover.
"I am?" He asks in a slight daze, and the other boy offers him a dazzling smile.
"Yeah, you respect the dead. The spirits adore you."
What?
"Oh, this is the young boy who protected that cemetery in Guatemala?" Masters asks with genuine warmth this time. "A fine job, Timithoy."
"It's Tim." He hears himself say, and Masters nods.
"A fine job Tim."
Danny offers him a wink, and Tim thinks his stomach just fell out of his body. What is this-?
"Timothy, we are leaving!" His mother screeches, tugging on his arm and yanking him away. The rest of the guests laugh as the Drakes are driven away. Tim knows he will never be allowed near Danny after this, so he turns his head around to give the boy one last look.
He meets the glowing green eyes of the Masters, who wave their fingers at him.
Tim starts following Danny around after that.
(Danny and Vlad know he's there and think it's cute. That's how ghost courts, so they don't see it as a problem. What is problem is getting along long enough for them to figure out a way back to their home dimension. Danny allowed Vlad to overshadow people just so they could have the means to eat, but he's getting really sick of Gotham. At least the soft clicking sound of a camera lures him to sleep at night.
Tim approaches Robin before his hero can go to Ethiopia. He doesn't understand what he is experiencing as his first crush and concludes that the Masters are aliens planning on luring small children by making them fall under a spell through their glowing eyes. Jason takes this very seriously and agrees to wait on his mission overseas. He realizes early on what's actually happening but, by that point, thinks Tim is hilarious and just edges him on.
He, too, thinks the Masters are aliens, but he's not about to tell Bruce.)

The (Not) Normal One...
So
I LOVE the stories where Danny is deaged and later found by one of the bats and taken in as a son or he's Bruce's bio son and is either Damian's twin or half brother or little/big brother BUT I don't see a lot of reborn/reincarnated Danny into the batfamily (I can think of two but one of them he is Dick's son?clone?somewhat clone? And the other is an amazing story where Danny is reborn as Jazz and Jason's kid and I love it to bits)
So let's change that a bit and have some fun.
Here's the idea
Danny, either from finally aging to his death (it was slow and long aging but he is still partly human too don't forget that) or dying at the hands of GIW (or by his parents if we go the Bad!Fentons route), is reborn into the batfamily.
He could either be Bruce and Selina's kid after they finally tie the knot, or be a one more attempt by Ra's or Talia to get the heir they want but is immediately found out when Tim notices certain labs active and they find baby Danny. OR Danny can be an oops baby to Bruce's one night stands OR one of the batboys baby. EITHER WAY, Danny is reborn into the family from the start.
And he has his memories. (He has little hints of his powers btw, they dont fully come in until his 14th bday)
And his new family all swear to give him a proper and happy childhood (as best as they can seeing how it's Gotham)
Only I want Danny milking being a baby then toddler/kid and later a teen for all its worth. He's going to enjoy this new life with everything he gots.
Like imagine the chaos and shenanigans he gets into as a toddler. He's the king of hide-and-seek. He uses his tears to get away from whoever annoys him. He's mastered the puppy dog look to get away with things (it holds no effect on Alfred though, man is immune to all tricks).
But then of course there's the... odd things that happen around him. Sometimes they catch him talking to no one. Sometimes they spot a ball or a toy rolling to Danny despite him not touching it. Sometimes they think they see or hear someone in the room with Danny only to go busting in to find nothing. (One time someone busted his nursery door down they heard on his baby/toddler monitor the distorted voice of a woman singing him a lullaby (it was Martha who was soothing him to sleep after a tiny nightmare, boy was Bruce not ready for one of his kids to hum the tune in the morning)).
Danny asking for an extra drink and the newspaper after Bruce is done before he runs off to one of the many sitting rooms the manor has. There he leaves the drink and the newspaper near a chair, hops into another chair nearby and chats to someone (they all think its his imaginary friend but that honestly doesn't explain why the drink seems to slowly disappear without anyone touching it. (btw its Thomas, Danny is talking to they like chatting in the morning)
OR when Danny gives hints to cases his family is working on, how he knows? No one knows. Sometimes they chalk it up to a kid randomly saying stuff or seeing it from a different simple outlook but sometimes it seems a little too on the nose and they think Danny might know about their night jobs... (He does know, but he gets some info from Lady Gotham who visits him and gives him little hints to pass onto her fav Knights)
Basically what I want is a reborn Danny trying to get a decent childhood/teenage years before his powers kick in full swing, his family trying the same but they got no idea about the powers (maybe), and ghosts like to visit Danny. The shenanigans that follow will be amazing.

[Image ID: An artwork featuring Danny Phantom, full green excluding his hair and white accents, transparent, sitting on a pile of rubble head tilted slightly upwards with his eyes closed. His hair is wispy, he’s got pointed ears and he’s much more identifiable as a ghost. The rubble includes the F of the Fenton Works sign, a satellite dish of some kind, pipes and concrete. The rubble, and Danny, is surrounded by yellow-black striped caution tape. Above Danny’s head is a conversation, in white, “It’s been ten years,” has been written, and in green, “It’s only been 10 years,” is written. /End ID]
Day 31: “It had been a decade since anyone last lived at Fenton Works. Or so people thought.”
tbh this took like. Less than half an hour to make haha. I may have forgotten to do this yesterday lmaooo. To make up for it, here’s a continuation of this prompt by @cryinginthevoid that i filled, wherein Danny has been stuck haunting the rubble of a ruined Fenton Works after his permanent death, only to later be approached by a very much alive Damian, who is the first person to See Danny in over 10 years. So yep, bonus challenge post 2 under the read more :D
Damian had visited. He’d promised and he’d followed through on it, Danny sitting still and watching as Damian approached, day after day, even after Danny had no more words to say, no more information to give. To quote, he was “a tolerable friend despite your intolerance for proper respect.” Danny had no idea if that was a good or bad thing, if he were to be honest.
But still! It’d been 10 years since he’d to spoken to someone, something other than the air. Damian said his brothers wouldn’t follow him, despite saying he’d bring them to meet Danny during one their tentative hangouts, and Danny supposed that was a good thing. He didn’t want Damian to sound crazy or look crazy for talking to thin air, especially not by his family.
Though, what was interesting was the weird amount of black-haired blue-eyed outsiders hanging around town. The FentonWorks rubble had a pretty good view of most of town, despite it’s slow erosion into dust, so Danny was able to see the several strangers in town whenever he went looking.
Damian said his family was looking into ectoplasm due to it’s relation with the dead, and trying to find if anyone around town knew how to access their information databases. They needed to know if there was a way to relieve “Jason’s” burden of the “Lazarus Rage,” and prepare in the case someone else in the family acquires it. And that ‘Lazarus Pits’ are classified information, but who did Danny have to share it to, no one could talk to him except Damian, anyway.
And truthfully, those Lazarus Pits Damian mentioned sounded like pools of ectoplasm that Maddie and Jack would’ve killed for. Danny could only suggest looking into ‘ecto-acne’ treatments, as from one of the stories of Vlad Masters Danny’d heard, it sounded like the short-term effects of ectoplasm exposure.
Damian didn’t know why he was sharing so much confidential with Daniel, but he didn’t seem to mind, and didn’t seem to talk to anyone else. He figured it’d be fine. Daniel needed to know as much context as possible in order to help Damian.
Daniel was strange, he spoke in large amounts, but quieted as though he doesn’t expect someone would respond to him. He rarely moved, and there was something unnatural about him. Perhaps the lack of a rise and fall of his chest, or the way his eyes shined.
Damian couldn’t help but make comparisons to the dead he’d seen. Lightless glossy eyes, pale skin, sallow flesh. Daniel was built like a dying or dead person.
Damian… worried. He’d grown close to the other boy, Daniel’s snark to Damian’s sharp tongue and his acceptance of Damian’s veganism, multiple other factors about Damian never drove Daniel away from him. It was nice, being accepted by someone outside of his family. Daniel’s health was concerning, malnutritioned and Daniel’s reaction time was slow. Multiple things were off-kilter about him, and Damian wanted to know why. So he could help.
Because Danny was his friend.
Dick observed Damian. He’d taken to pacing the length of the hotel room, and he seemed worried about his new friend (!!! Dami has a friend!!!! And he’s worried about him!!!), muttering about bringing food to the next time he visited. Dick kinda felt bad about what he was about to tell Dami.
“Richard, why are you looking at me?” Dami asked, stopping his pacing to look up at Dick, a soft half-hearted glare on his face.
“Uh well, Tim…” (fuck! He wasn’t supposed to mention Tim!)
“What did Drake do?”
“Tim told me to tell you that we’d gotten enough information and that we were leaving in two days, just in case something new crops up!” Dick rushed, knowing that Dami would loathe the information, but despise Dick more for not telling him.
Dami needed to say goodbye to his new friend, after all, but from what Dick could tell, they couldn’t even have long-distance communication, because “Daniel Who Liked Being Called Danny” didn’t even have a phone!
Dami’s click of his tongue was expected, and his expression had worsened too. Dick had messed up, but he didn’t think there was anyway to break it gently that Damian would have to leave his newfound friend.
The boy stormed off, leaving the room with a door slam. Dick felt bad, man. Well… Dick did have a spare phone he was free to gibe to someone… Perhaps Danny would like it?

I currently have two timelines for my New Ancient of Darkness Au
Timeline 1: Bruce is one of the Justice League founders, continues to do his best to hide his increasingly ghostliness with every year and avoiding Justice League Dark because he has heard stories about Constantine. It doesn't matter if Danny finds him hilarious. He's the Justice League's cryptid where his friends just think he's a little shy and Gotham is just like that.
Timeline 2: Bruce lets his anxiety and paranoia get ahold of him, especially with how he's just taken in Dick and Jason, and doesn't join the League. And straight up becomes a cryptid as Batman. Where his children become liminal far faster and the still human part of him feels so guilty while the ghostly part is giddy to have little ghostlings. There are now rumors about some sort of shadow child of Gotham, some sort of clan of creatures that the League will eventually investigate.

I feel like Danny has a really specific relationship with everyone in the BatFam that culminates in very different ways
Like Danny and Tim would have a lot in common based on the fact that 1.) their parents are kinda weird and 2.) they don’t tell anyone about anything until it comes up out of nowhere
Like one day while Danny was watching TV with Dick, Jason, and Tim, Tim mentions something about The Joker being hospitalized before getting sent back to Arkham Asylum.
Danny without missing a beat goes
“Oh please he’ll be fine, I almost got killed fighting my future self once and look at me, I’m great now.”
Everyone except Tim stops what they’re doing because they’re trying to comprehend the sentence they just heard
Dick replies, “Im sorry, you did what?”
And Tim who has also been traumatized enough times that he needs a punch card replies
“Oh, that’s nothing. This one time I had injuries that were so bad I had to get my spleen removed.”
Dick, fully losing his composure screams at Tim “I’m sorry, YOU DID WHAT!!!”
Danny replies “Dude, that’s so metal.”
Jason is busy doing mental gymnastics trying to figure out how none of them figured this out yet and he just goes
“When did you have the time to lose your spleen??”
Which prompts Tim (who is still unfazed at this point) to recant the entire situation that led to this and then he finishes his story like
“And now I have no spleen and no immune system. 🙂”
And poor Jason and Dick who are genuinely never on the same wavelength both yell
“YOU DONT HAVE AN IMMUNE SYSTEM?!?!?”
Meanwhile Danny is just sitting here watching this whole thing go down and just goes
“God I love this family, they’re just as crazy as mine.”

TWINcognito mode Part 4 (Tim and Danny Pretend to be Twins AU) (is it still pretending if they genuinely consider each other as twins?)
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 5, Part 6, AO3
Danny had a bandage on his hand.
Tim stared at it, then his twin, then the hospital room around them, and finally at Jason.
“Jason what the fuck,” he breathed quietly, gesturing helplessly at the hospital patient on the bed.
“No, you’re what the fuck,” Jason hissed, shoving a finger in Tim’s chest, “You did this on purpose, didn’t you? Well fuck you Replacement, I know where you keep your precious BatMobile and I’m not afraid to torch it.”
How the hell did Jason know where the secret BatMobile was?
Wait, not important.
“Danny, you good?” Tim asked, pushing Jason’s hand away and moving towards his probably slightly high twin, “Did he cut off any fingers?” Did Tim have to cut off any of Jason’s in return?
Because he’d do it. He’d do it in a fucking heartbeat.
Jason could stand to lose a few fingers.
Danny’s too-wide eyes gazed into his, and then the little shit started giggling nonstop.
“Oh yeah, they gave him morphine. Did it even though I told them that giving a meta morphine is a bad idea, but I think they thought he was you, so. They learned the hard way.”
There was energy dancing in arcs around Danny’s fingertips, and Tim was fairly certain he knew that the fake incident of blasting a hole in the wall had just become a real one.
“Tim?” Danny asked, reaching out and burning the lapel he’d managed to grab with the energy running unchecked through his hands.
Tim was so suing the hospital for this.
“Yes, Danny?” He sighed, delicately removing the sparking appendage from his clothes.
“Tim, I think I broke a wall.”
“That’s fine, they deserved it for not listening to your medical proxy.”
Tim heard Jason distantly give a flat “What”.
It was fine, a few seconds of typing and it’d look like Jason had always been a listed emergency contact and medical proxy. He could figure out how to explain that to Bruce later.
He’d also need one of Jason’s aliases.
“Everything is moving, and the ceiling is melting.”
Tim frowned. Usually when he saw shit like that it meant-
-Danny abruptly leaned forward and emptied his stomach on Tim’s shoes.
Tim squeezed his eyes shut and tried to block out the sound of Jason’s hysterical laughter.
He could also hear a few shutter clicks, god damn it, one of the vultures had trailed in after him.
"Jason, two mill to play bodyguard and handle the vulture behind me."
The laughter stopped abruptly, and Jason went after the paparazzi with far too much enthusiasm.
Tim listened to the distant sound of a bone breaking and agonized screams as he reached forward and rubbed Danny's back.
Danny whined, leaning into his stomach.
"Don't worry; I've got everything handled," Tim was already texting his team of lawyers in one group chat and the Wayne Industries PR team in another.
He'd take care of it; taking care of family was what he did best.
~~~~~~
The phone rang exactly twice before it was picked up.
“Bruce Wayne speaking,” Bruce Wayne answered, not really paying attention to his work phone as he focused on the blueprints to Black Masks newest HQ in front of him.
“Mr. Wayne, we understand that you have a good working relationship with us at the Daily Planet, for all that we’re from your sister city,” a nervous voice sounded on the other side, and Bruce was suddenly paying attention, “And we were wondering if you would be willing to have an interview concerning Tim Drake-Wayne’s hidden twin? The public has many questions, and you know that we’ll treat the story with the respect it des-”
“Danny doesn’t like reporters,” Bruce lied through his teeth; he had no idea what Danny did or did not like, and he would address the lack of press coverage later once he found out what was going on, “How did this get out?”
“Ah, well there may have been a slight incident at the local hospital, and it’s a little hard to hide a wall with a hole blown in it from a high meta.”
What.
“What hospital?”
The line went quiet.
“I…I’m feeling a bit like I’ve just ratted them out, sir.”
“I’m their father, it’s fine; what hospital?”
“Gotham General, sir. Mr. Daniel’s bodyguard broke a paparazzi’s legs as well, so…there’s also questions about using excessive force.”
Bruce allowed himself a moment to close his eyes and lament his quiet evening.
That was Jason. That was 100% Jason. This was absolutely something that had happened between the twins and Jason that they hadn’t wanted Bruce to know.
“I’ll get back to you on that interview,” Bruce said, hanging up without waiting for so much as a goodbye.
Without a word, he walked out of the BatCave and headed towards the garage, trying to occupy his mind to steer it away from imagining catastrophic injuries.
How unfortunate that his brain was insistent on catastrophizing something, and if it wasn’t allowed to imagine injuries, it was going to find something else.
Danny had been largely unknown to the press.
Gotham press Bruce could understand; they would understand the unspoken rule laid out by Janet and Jack to Not Talk About The Twin. But Metropolis news? They wouldn’t care at all.
There would have been reports on it. The Daily Planet would have called to ask for a story on property damage, not about the ‘hidden twin’.
There were other inconsistencies.
There were no pictures of Danny in the Manor, aside from the new one on the mantel that Alfred had managed to get the boy to sit still for. However, he was in the background of all of the photos he’d found of the Drake family online.
If it wasn’t for Barbara stating that she knew him, and for Tim’s easy familial interactions with him, Bruce would swear that Danny really hadn’t existed prior to-
Danny hadn’t existed.
He didn’t want to consider the possibility that Barbara lied, but if he did…
Tim enjoyed pranks. Danny was confirmed to have been captured by Ra’s. Danny had escaped. Tim had found Danny. More than likely, they had moved forward from there, and Tim was prone to becoming obsessively protective of family, and Danny was…
Ra’s had reached into a different dimension and grabbed that universe’s version of Tim. Except he hadn’t, because in that universe Tim had been born with an identical twin, and it would have been an easy mistake for someone not expecting that.
Tim and Barbara were trying their hardest to make sure that Danny had a place in this universe. They were trying their hardest to keep him.
Tim was absolutely not researching how to send Danny back; if he had been, he would have started refusing cases for the sake of research.
Bruce hauled himself into his car, started it, and took a moment to rest his forehead on the steering wheel.
He understood it, really. He did.
Danny fit into their family like a missing puzzle piece; he belonged with them.
But Danny was from a different dimension. He had to go home, no matter how much they wanted him to stay. His version of Bruce was probably tearing the laws of reality apart to get him back.
Bruce would do the same for any of his children, especially if it had been a kidnapping and not an accident.
Bruce sighed and slammed the car into reverse.
He didn’t have enough evidence, he would have to ask for further information.
And how he loathed admitting he did not know something.
In the meantime, he called the one person he would never have thought he’d have to ask for help.
He called John Constantine and told him, as Batman, that the Wayne family had a situation.
~~~~~~
John hated the rich.
Unless they were paying him, of course.
Which Bruce bloody Wayne would, if he wanted his help.
It had taken a bit of wandering, fending off hospital security, and walking past a smoking hole in a wall-fucking Gotham-before he’d managed to convince someone to just guide him to the room in question.
And because John was a snoop, and he knew he was, he stopped outside the door to listen in.
“-I know you’re from a different dimension, Danny, we just want to help you go back.”
“I don’t understand what I did wrong, why do you want to kill me?”
“Bruce what the fuck-”
“Old Man you’ve got it wrong-”
“John Constantine is on the way to pinpoint what Dimension you’re from. Danny, this hurts, I don’t want to do this, but you have to go back home.”
“But if you do that I’ll die!”
“Yeah Bruce he’ll-wait you’ll what? What?! Back the fuck up Old Man!”
“B, calm down. Your conclusion is inaccurate and you need to step back.”
“Danny, stop overreacting; your version of Bruce is probably very worried.”
Well this sounded like a lovely family conversation to walk into.
He opened the door without any fanfare and…yup. Rich people.
There was a revenant standing in front of an eldritch being waving an unused IV pole at Bruce Wayne while the CEO of Wayne Industries was trying to pull the old CEO away from the people in front of him.
Bruce Wayne was not moving.
“Right, so…I’m here to take a look at the…” John trailed off, finally getting a good look at the eldritch thing behind the revenant.
That was no kid.
That was an Ancient.
That was not just an Ancient.
That was the High King of the Infinite Realms, trapped in a mortal body and shackled to life.
This was not a God of Death, this was The God of Death; but tiny and human. Tiny, human, and for some unknown reason had chosen the Wayne family to live his life with.
John wasn’t going to pretend to know what went on in the mind of an Ancient Spirit turned God, but he did know how to take in what was in front of him.
The soul was seamlessly integrated into the body, only barely leaking out. There was a tether, presumably to the Infinite Realms, for the overflow of power that the mortal body could not handle. This looked like any other reincarnation, but with something more powerful than a normal soul.
Which meant that this was deliberate, and usually the reincarnated only held bare bone memories of their past life. If John actually did send the kid back to his home dimension, it was literally going to kill him. The only way for the tiny Royal in front of him to go back was through dying.
For all intents and purposes, this was just a kid. A kid acting as the eyes for a literal God.
And Bruce Wayne was about to royally fuck up said God’s judgment of their world.
“Wayne,” John whispered, eyes not leaving the Royal in front of him, “Wayne, we need to talk.”
“Ah, Mr. Constantine, you’re here. If you could-”
“Wayne,” John snapped, voice hoarse, “Get your bloody arse out of the bloody room right bloody now and listen to me!” by the end of his demand, John was not ashamed to admit that his voice had started hitting some very high notes.
Bruce Wayne’s eyes widened, and the fool finally acquiesced.
“Why is that guy always so gross?” He heard behind him as he closed the door.
He elected to ignore it in favor of setting the pompous rich arse in front of him straight.
“He isn’t lying; you send him back to his home dimension, he dies.”
Wayne looked stricken. Good. Now he had his attention.
“He’s a reincarnated soul from the Infinite Realms, and for whatever reason he decided that your family was the one he wanted to have. Why is he this old and a twin to someone who did not have a twin before? No idea. Not my business. But Wayne,” John walked forward, resting his hand on the man's chest before gripping his suit and yanking him down to eye level, “That kid is acting as the Eyes of a God. If you bugger this up, you bugger us up.”
John let the man go and walked away, throwing his business card over his shoulder.
“The JLD will keep in touch.”
~~~~~~
Tim had miscalculated.
Danny was still too high to be of any use.
Jason’s eyes were a luminescent green, so his cognitive faculties were essentially gone as well. Honestly it wasn’t a huge loss on his part, he doubted Jason would have had valuable input anyways.
His only saving grace was the occultist that had actually done something useful; he’d bought Tim time.
A quick text to Barbara that Bruce had catastrophized into the worst case scenario, again, and Tim got to work.
He stripped out of his suit jacket and pointed at Danny, catching Jason’s eyes.
“We’re switching places; help him undress and escort him out. Pay raise to-”
“You don’t have to pay me fucking money to make sure one of my brothers isn’t killed, Replacement,” Jason snarled, dropping the IV stand and turning to make quick work of Danny’s hoodie.
Danny tried to help, really, he did, but he couldn’t seem to find the coordination for it.
Regardless, in the three minutes it took for Constantine to lay into Bruce, he and Danny had managed to not only swap clothes, but to place an identical bandage on Tim’s hand.
Jason had only just managed to get Danny’s hair in the same style as Tim had when he’d walked in before they heard the door start to open again.
Jason took a half step back and placed himself squarely in front of the twins.
Tim was not surprised.
Jason's second worst nightmare, after all, was Bruce becoming a version of Willis he could not protect his siblings from.
From the look on Bruce’s face, he knew it, too.
Tim curled his hand around the batarang he’d hidden up his sleeve, fully prepared to do what he could to buy even more time for whoever Barbara had called as reinforcement to arrive.
But Tim didn’t get a chance to do that, because between one second and the next he was outside and being handed off to Kon by an only slightly winded Bart.
“Guys,” he started, feeling the migraine starting to build.
“It’s okay Danny we’ll break you out of Gotham and then Tim can come with you and then you can live with us forever because Speedsters are the best and-”
“Oracle said you’d been dosed with morphine, so I’m gonna have to carry you like Tim for a bit man. Sorry.”
“Guys-” Tim tried, but was manhandled into Kon’s arms.
“Don’t you worry about a thing Dantheman we’re gonna make sure you’re safe and then you can share your house with Kon because no one messes with Kon and you’ll be safe forever and-”
“You have the wrong twin, buffoons,” a young voice cut through, drawing their attention to the youngest Wayne.
Damian looked thoroughly unimpressed.
The look deepened when they heard the fire alarms start going off in the hospital that were more than likely, statistically speaking, courtesy of Jason.
“Come, Timothy; we must clean up the mess your poor planning has made,” the little demon brat ordered imperiously, turning on his heel and marching into the chaotic hospital.
Tim managed to wriggle out of Kon’s hold and patted his chest.
“Thanks, man,” he sighed, mentally preparing himself for the bullshit he was about to walk into.
Kon gave his shoulder a squeeze.
“I’ve decided that I’m gonna hang out in Gotham for a bit; just call my name if you need me, bro.”
Oh, Tim would.
He paused as he watched a very familiar motorcycle tear down the street.
In fact, Tim was tempted to call for Kon right that very moment.
“Timothy!”
…But he would have to face the consequences of his actions first.
I sighed and leaned back onto the chair provided as the family argued in front of me, Nightwing seemed very untrusting of me which was sad but to be expected, Jason however was valiantly defending my honour saying that it calmed down the pit rage. I really need to look into these pits, both because they’re clearly ectoplasm of some sort and also yum.
I watched them argue back and forth but when Jason didn’t try to kill any of them or storm away (poor guy really needs to get his system cleaned) they seemed to accept that what I had done had worked, they also did a few blood tests and with some assurance that I knew how to take non dangerous levels of blood they left it alone.
Jason turned around to talk to me but I was already in mist form to watch his reaction, he gave a smal sigh and muttered something about asking him to do that more often, ooh, good. I flew through the layers of stone and walked to Arkham Asylum to see Jazz, she’d moved there as a psychologist and apparently had the longest streak of staying alive or sane as one, weird.
A guy with a face full of clown makeup skipped happily down the street and everyone turned their gazes away and not say anything, Gotham truely does reminds me of home but with more crime and more normal stuff, like nice normal clowns instead of freakshow or ghost clowns.
I walked into the asylum “Hi! I’m here to see Jazz!” I said, he glanced at me and then my teeth and claws
“Poor Jasmine, if you kidnap her can you set it up to look like Joker? I’ve got money riding on him.” the guy asked, I gave him a look and went to where Jazz was, waiting until some guy with an impressive nose walked out of the room
“Danny!” she cried as the ran over and hugged me
“Jazz!” I said back “Have you heard about the Bats?” I asked
“I’m Jokers therapist, I know about them.” Jazz said and I laughed
“Okay so here’s the story
I walked down the street sipping my ecto, it’s blood red was kind of disorientating but whatever, better than having to pay for food. Suddenly two guys jumped me! I sighed and kept drinking, I punched the first guy into a wall a bit harder than I intended to but he’d be fine, the second guy I knocked out easily, and the third guy tripped me but I caught myself by flying and tripped him up then gave him a purposely harder punch which winded him, no need to knock my lunch out of my hands.
I turned around to pick up my thermos and saw Batman, BATMAM. Look, maybe hissing then turning into mist and flying at him to get it might not have been the smartest choice, but I don’t have fully human instincts anymore so there was no fear stopping me and no one in the world needs any more sources of ecto, and I had spent hours tinkering around with that so it filtered ecto from the atmosphere just right no way was I doing that again!
Anyways, he thought I was a vampire so I decided, giw are after me so I decided to be a vampire, I got jumped about a week later. I’m living in the Bat cave.” I said
“Are they treating you right?” Jazz asked, I nodded “I have a story too. I’m liminal, we all know this, anyways, I saw this lady whos on greyscale and could be from the victorian era. So I met Lady Gotham!” Jazz said “She’s cool.”
“Oh awesome, I left some gifts for her when I moved in. She said I could live here but I only met her that once.” I admitted
“Good.” Jazz said with a nod “Listen to what Frostbite and Clockwork teach you about Ghost etiquette.”
“There’s this guy who has really good tasting ectoplasm too, it’s fermented and in his blood.” I mentioned, Jazz blinked
“Huh. What do you think of him?” she asked
“He’s strong, keeps mentioning ‘pit rage’ I think these pits are old ectoplasm, good ectoplasm, it’s delicious.” I said
“Is this guy Red Hood? Lady Gotham mentioned him, he died and got revived by a pit of ectoplasm, but he didn’t come back as a ghost, just the same human as before, so the ectoplasm is keeping him alive but he’s probably makes way too much for a human to filter.” Jazz suggested “He was probably frustrated about something, and then it amplified that frustration which led to more frustration and anger which got amplified, creating a positive feed back loop. He probably has no control over the anger now though.” Jazz said, I knew enough about coding from listening to Tucker to know what a positive feedback loop was.
“Huh, poor guy.” I said, Jazz nodded solemnly when there was a knock on the door and the gruff voice of someone who’s seen some stuff
“Your next patient Ms Fenton.” he said
“Bye Jazz!” I said and I walked out.
Frigid Nightmare
Snippets from @xysidhequeen AU. Based on the question about Jason comforted Danny after a nightmare...
Jason slumped back against the wall, his chest heaving as he drained a bottle of water mixed with ectoplasm. His training with Fright Knight was over, and it had been a year and a half since he came out from the grave, six months since he was knighted as Red Knight, four months since he discovered that Batman had replaced him, with mere seven months after his death.
The pain welled up in Jason's heart and soul - the same pain that had driven him to mow down the rebellion in another realm who dared to challenge Danny. Danny had seen him that day, standing alone amidst the demon corpses as their blood caked his human form. His eyes were raised to the sky, which burned orange from battle, and tears rolled down his cheeks unchecked.
Jason took a deep breath, squeezing his eyes shut and willing himself not to be dragged back down into despair. The members of his newfound family tried their best to keep him in the present moment, teaching him how to allow himself to express hurt and anger without being punished for it.
Fright Knight's dark figure towered over Jason, his gaze unwavering. His deep voice rumbled through the room. "Are you well, my apprentice?"
Jason hesitated before responding, unsure of how to express what he was feeling. "I'm ... just reminiscing Frighty."
Fright Knight hummed in response and knelt down before Jason, his eyes softening with compassion. "As I said before, no one has ever been chosen as my apprentice before you, Jason Todd - King Phantom chose you, and I'll do my utmost best to ensure that you're strong enough to protect our liege."
Jason was warmed by Fright Knight's honesty. He knew from Jazz's counselling sessions that healing from trauma isn't linear - there will be highs and lows as well as scarring that must be endured. A wistful smile spread across his face as he thanked his mentor.
"You're welcome, my apprentice," Fright Knight replied, standing tall once again before saying something else - but a high-pitched screech cut him off. Immediately, Fright Knight summoned a flaming green sword while Jason stood up with gun in hand, prepared to jump into action against any incoming attack.
His heart thundered in his chest, his core aflutter with anxiety and panic as he remembered the last time Danny had one of these episodes. Dread clawed at Jason's stomach as he and Fright Knight raced down the hallway leading to their liege's chamber, only to be stopped short by a violent blizzard raging between them and their King.
"Our liege is having a night terror again, we need to get Master Nocturne now!" Fright Knight yelled over the roar of the wind, looking at his apprentice with worry in his eyes. Jason could feel his vision tinge green as something inside of him screamed for him to go check on his King.
"Fright. You go on and get Nox, I'll go in to see our king is safe!" Jason shouted back, before sprinting into the howling storm.
"Jason!!" Fright Knight called out desperately, but his apprentice was already lost in the turmoil of snow and ice. With an exasperated curse, Fright Knight summoned his mount and set off to find Nocturne as quickly as possible.
Meanwhile, Jason trudged through the blizzard with his toned arms raised, shielding his face and the red flaming sword in the other. His breath came in ragged gasps, pluming out of his mouth and nose like smoke from a dragon's nostrils. "Mom! Dad! Please, I'm your son!" Jason heard Danny's voice yelled against the howling wind.
"Don't ever call us that to our son's face, ghost!" Maddie Fenton's voice screamed back. Jason's heart sank as he recalled Danny's story of why he stayed in Infinite Realms. His parents had not taken kindly to his reveal, capturing him and nearly vivisecting him before his friends had saved him. The voices in the blizzard retold Danny's trauma again and again. "Dad! It hurts, Dad! It really hurts!"
The frigid air felt like razors on Jason's skin, but his rage and core urged him forward like an animal spurred on by instinct. He thought of Danny, his king, HIS. The memory of the day when he went on a rampage came to mind, but instead of pure rage taking over, it was a controlled fury fueled by an unwavering desire to protect what mattered most to him.
"Where is my son? You're not my Danny'o!" Jack Fenton's words ricocheted through the storm as Jason continued on towards the frozen door.
Finally, he reached Danny's room and Jason grasped Ifrit, his red flaming sword, tightly in his dominant hand. With a single, powerful thrust of the blade, the intense heat blasting from its edge shattered the frozen door open. As the shards of wood flew outward into the hallway, Jason saw Danny curled on his bed with his hands over his hair. Thankfully, his body wasn't frozen. The chill that radiated through the room was colder than anything within Far Frozen and made Jason shiver as he rushed towards Danny whose body jolted in response to his voice.
"Danny!" he shouted out, his core sending the wave of protection and safety to Danny, who winced from the shout.
Jason's boots crunched through the snow as he approached Danny, kneeling down beside him. He grasped his King's shoulder, his own warmth spreading into the coldness of Danny's body. "Danny," he repeated softly, and felt the tension in his King's body ease slightly.
Danny looked up, eyes widening in recognition and relief. "Jason?" he said, voice trembling.
Smiling reassuringly, Jason sent a wave of warmth and reassurance through his core. "I'm here, Danny. I'm here."
As if in response to their exchange, the blizzard outside ceased, and the room began to warm from within.
Danny inched closer to Jason, his exhausted body desperate for warmth. The embrace created a sense of safety as he felt Jason's toned arm tighten around him.
"Your parents?" Jason asked softly. Danny, too tired to speak, simply nodded in response.
"Do you want to sleep?" Jason asked, his fingers lightly stroking Danny's hair. He shook his head no and looked up at Jason with wide, pleading eyes.
"You're tired," Jason sighed, brushing a stray lock of hair away from Danny's face. "Do you want me to stay with you so you don't have to be alone?" Danny nodded again, relieved that he didn't have to speak.
Jason looked to the far corner of the room and saw a small puddle of melted ice where the frigid castle had been moments before. The knight hoisted up the tall, lanky king from the floor and carried him towards his bed, cradling him like a koala cub as he went. As he was about to lay the king down on the bed, Jason heard his mentor and Nocturne enter the room.
"I see you handled the situation, my apprentice," Fright Knight said as they stepped into the doorway.
"Yeah... He got the nightmare of his fucking parents..." Jason replied, tightening his grip around the helpless king protectively as Danny clung to him. He fought to keep his composure, reigning in his anger.
Nocturne, the ghostly figure of sleep and dream, swept into the room on a midnight breeze. He cast his gentle spell of slumber onto the King as he lay in Jason's arms, and watched with fondness to ensure his ward was at peace.
"That should keep him tucked in for a few hours," Nocturne said before turning to Jason. "Do you need my assistance, young Knight?"
Jason looked down at the King, peaceful and unaware, and then back to the ghost. "Nah, I'm good," he sighed. "I just need some time to calm down." Nocturne nodded silently, before he dissipated into the ether like a whisper.
Fright Knight stood in the doorway, illuminated by the faint candlelight in the room. His helmet blocked the majority of his ghostly features, but Jason could still detect a hint of pride in his mentor's voice. He paused for a moment and turned his helmet to glance at Jason, then said, “Rest well and be proud of how far you come, Jason Todd.” With that, Fright Knight disappeared into the shadows, leaving Jason alone with his king in his arms.
Danny snuggled close against Jason and he felt a wave of protectiveness wash over him. Rage coursed through him as he thought about Fentons - if he ever found them, they would fucking pay for what they have done to Danny. As Danny slept peacefully on his chest, Jason vowed to never let anyone hurt him again. He tightened his embrace around Danny and promised himself that when Danny needed him, he would always be there.
Dc/Dp - Jason Todd Idea
I have heard people call Jason a revenant before in this kind of crossover, but what if it is taken in a different direction.
In this world revenants are people who return from the dead because they were not avenged like normal. But the process of someone forcing themselves back to life is very stressful, so it is rare. Then if someone manages to actually succeed the strain of the experience drives them permanently insane with a side of permanent rage. The newly resurrected person would only be able to focus on hunting the person who murdered them, and depending on the situation the people who allowed the loss of their life to be buried so easily. After their hunt was completed they would instantaneously drop dead. Then they would either immediately completely move on or wither away into nothingness depending on the person, but a revenant can never become a ghost.
Revenants could also be the inspiration behind zombies in the story. More importantly, revenants are the reason why people are buried six feet deep. So the revenants would suffocate before it could seek vengeance.
Bring Jason back into my idea. Jason came back to life as a traditional revenant, and due to his unyielding stubbornness managed to get out of the grave and begin his mindless hunt. But then Thalia found him and tossed him into the pit and managed to give him his mind back. For the first time there was a revenant who had regained their mind. Well mostly. Jason was still constantly angry which he hadn’t been before coming back to life, or at least not like this. Sometimes he would lose himself completely to the anger. Everyone blamed it on the pit madness, which could be its own Ectoplasmic side effect, but it was really his revenant nature resurfacing.
Later on, somehow someway Danny and Jason end up meeting. They both recognize each other as a kind of kindred spirit because they both are straddling the line between life and death, albeit in very very different ways. Since they recognize each other in such an instinctual way, Jason begs Danny to cure him of the pit madness. But Danny can’t because what he is dealing with isn’t pit madness and the rage is the only thing connecting his soul to his body even if he has regained his sanity.
It isn’t that Jason has fits of rage. He has fits of sanity.
Those fits of sanity last a very long time, and the rage impedes his life less as he adjusts, but that is how it works. Even if Jason avenged himself, it would be to fate if it made him essentially a extremely liminal human, die instantly, or some mysterious alternative option. No one knows what will happens because nothing like Jason had ever existed before. There have been documented cases of halfas before Pariah Dark eliminated every single one before Danny and the rest came along. But there has never ever been a single case in history of a revenant who regained themselves instead of carrying out their mission.
If you choose to use any part of my idea, please leave a link in the comments so I can read it.
Thanks
Prompt: gotham is suddenly overrun by the GIW, the batfam figure out that theyre chasing some teen boy thats parkouring up and down the city with an injured girl (dani) strapped to his back trying to stay ahead of them. Danny rescued dani from the giw and absconded to gotham to try to get the batfamily's attention for help as a hail mary (idk his powers not working right?) Could be a twin au or danny just considering all the robins and hoping bats wont turn down two kids in need, even if meta.
Danny goes to the Batman not only because he thinks that the Bats won't turn down his help, but because he knows that he looks frighteningly similar to Jason Todd. His parents have done routine DNA tests on him since he was little (He still doesn't know how he managed to evade all of those tests since the portal incident), and he knows that Jack and Maddie Fenton are his parents. He simply looks extremely similar to the Billionaire's Ward.
Danny has heard stories of Batman taking kids who need help to better homes. The Bat was sympathetic to kids and if anyone could help him, it was the protector of Gotham. Adjusting Dani on his back as he leaps over another rooftop, he slowly yet surely is heading towards The Narrows. Dodging and weaving his way out of GIW gunfire as he makes his escape.
Obscure Far Cry Promos and Content
I'm a big far cry fan, which means I have to make my own food in this economy. But sometimes I just want some ACTUAL canon or canon-ish or even just canon-adjacent content, y'know? It has gotten to the point I go into youtube rabbit holes or watch a remarkably below average hallmark movies for 5 minutes of an actor's screentime to hopefully hear Jason or Ajay or whoever talk. And so in these quests, I've found a couple obscure promos. Gonna compile them here for myself mostly :)
Far Cry 3
Far Cry 3 - The Voices of Insanity: Doctor Earnhardt //a live action video with Alec Earnhardt's VA
Far Cry 3 - The Voices of Insanity: Vaas //same thing but with Michael Mando
Hoyt Audition Far Cry 3 //the last part of "The Voices of Insanity" videos, couldn't find the one from Ubisoft's own account but someone else had posted it on youtube
Far Cry 3 for PS3: TV Spot
Far Cry 3 -- Island Survival Guide: Psychopaths, Drugs & Other Dangers // video narrated by Willis Huntley
Far Cry 3 -- The Savages: Vaas & Buck // this video shows a rare render of vaas with tataus on his arm!
Far Cry 3 | The Tribe: Citra & Dennis //this video has a deleted scene where Jason hallucinates the tatau snaking up his arm
Far Cry 3 -- The Tyrant: Hoyt
Far Cry 3 - Insane Edition // this is a promo done for a special edition for the game, Michael Mando probably couldn't shoot the promo himself and just voice acted, and so they used another actor and made it so the camera never sees Vaas's face.
^ There is also a survival guide titled Face Your Insanity written by post-Rook events Jason Brody as part of the Insane Edition.
Far Cry 3 | E3 2012 Step Into Insanity Trailer [NORTH AMERICA] // this has a few close-ups of Jason and Vaas switching places with each other
Far Cry 3 Interviews (via @lulu2992)
Far Cry 3 Tweets by Jeffrey Yohalem, the lead writer. (also compiled by @/lulu2992! Thanks again!)
Far Cry 4
Divya Kandala's Blog (archived on the Wayback Machine) // Divya Kandala is a fictional journalist who wrote a blog about her travels to Kyrat, her blog's basically world-building promo for FC4. You could also find the house she stayed at in Kyrat!
Far Cry 4 TV Commercial
Far Cry 4 | Kyrat Tuk Tuk Stories //this is the MOST we see ajay in third person in promo content
Far Cry 4 - CGI Trailer // this isn't exactly RARE but it took forever for me to find that clip of ajay's eyes reflecting from the kukri. plus he looks EXTREMELY caucasian which really doesn't help the rumors I've heard that they originally wanted Jason again as FC4's protag
Comedy Central Far Cry 4 Commercial feat Danny Pudi & Donald Glover
Far Cry 4 and Childish Gambino: The Collaboration | PS4, PS3 // a music video for Crawl by Childish Gambino done as a collab
Old Archive.Org link to the Far Cry 4 webpage that had a choose your own adventure campaign
^ and the youtube video to promote it
Far Cry 4 | Behind the Scene Trailer 1/3 [Europe] // developer vlogs when they visited Nepal and interviewed the ghurka that became base for Golden Path, you can see the village that resembles Banapur a lot!
Far Cry 4 Performance Capture Interview // you can see Janina Gavankar, Amita's actress doing some mocap in this
Janina Gavankar Talks Far Cry 4 - ^ and the interview with her after
World Gameplay Premiere - Walkthrough E3 2014 - Far Cry 4 // this was to showcase gameplay but they eventually took out this entire mission where you have to wingsuit to Ratu Gadhi (Yuma's fortress), which is a shame because it looked very nice.
Far Cry 5
i'll be honest, im not a fc5 girlie, so i dont usually do a lot of digging, and im pretty sure these are actually not obscure at all. but these are trailers i found that really blew it out of the park. the marketing team for 5 really went HAM
Far Cry 5: Teaser Trailer | Ubisoft //this has a peggie banging someone's head to a church bell rhythmically with the gorgeous view of Montana mountains as backdrop and i for one, find it hilarious
Far Cry 5 | The Sermon - Live Action Trailer
Far Cry 5 | The Baptism - Live Action Trailer //somebody once mentioned this one has Joseph looking like Trevor GTA and i have never quite known peace ever since. it really also shows the reality of how Joseph is actually just really Unwell, and lore that Joseph killed Pastor Jerome's daughter that never showed up in-game.
Far Cry 5: Anything Can Happen, Everything Will - Live Action TV Spot | Trailer // mixes live action and game CGI renders, pretty cool actually!
The Making of Far Cry 5 | Behind the Scenes of Ubisoft [Documentary]
Far Cry 6 Comics
not gonna put in FC6 stuff because they're actually very easy to find! lots of trailers and mocaps and interviews on youtube :) Far Cry 6 actually has a more obscure lore in their comics
Far Cry: Esperanza's Tears comic // this is a Juan-centric prequel comic that features a completely new country, lore about Far Cry universe's political landscape, and lots of cameos from 3-6's characters! very interesting read especially if you're a sucker for backstories like me
Far Cry: Rite of Passage comic // this is more popular as it features Anton telling Diego the backstories for 3-5's villains.
There is also a book titled The Official Far Cry Survival Guide written by a fictional character called Hunter Nash, who supposedly grew up with Hope County-level of a doomsday prepper dad and winds up as a journalist who travels to the locations of 3-6 and wrote how to survive each location accordingly. It's adorned with official artwork of the games and plenty of survival tips. Not much lore-wise, but cool nonetheless! it also fuels my co-workers au ideas but that's personal.
i have actually found stuff like a really old MTV show called Undressed with Gianpaolo Venuta where he uses his Jason voice for his character, and how Patrick Kwok-Choon, the new voice actor for Ajay does voice acting in Thomas the Train Engine and Paw Patrol, and an indie movie with Greg Bryk where he wears fun sunglasses like Joseph, but that's neither here nor there to the franchise, so eh. // i'll edit this post if i find more, so maybe check back sometimes!
yes. i am drunk. but i have a smol story to share: cass defetes danny and becomes queen, observants don't like this so they hound dsnny to take back the throne. danny shrugs and asks cass's hands in marriage, and cass tells him to finish college first before asking again.
observants don't like danny going to college :(
cass beats up observants :D
cass givs danny money to go to colege so he can become astronaut, but people in the college don't want danny to pass to become an astronaut. becaus people in the college are connected to giw >:(
cass beat up the people in the college with the help of timmy, and they make the college expl9de. sam, tucker, and valerie hears about this, and the y make the college explode again.
justtice league hears about this, and kon, bart and cassie gets a nuke and explodes the college some more.
danny tells cass to tell everyone else to stop, because explosions are becoming too much. cass is sad that danny is sad from explosions, so she tells everyones to stop.
cass tells j ustice league to help danny become an astronaut, so he now works in the headquarters as an enginere because he's really smart
but be for he works, clockwork says that danny needs to die again to become a full ghost, and that he cannot become astronaut >:(
cass beats up clockwork with the help of bart and billy batson. the spirit of shazam is disappointed in billy for beating up clockwork, cass beats up shazam's spirit because she's the queen :D
because clockwork was beat up by cass, dan from the bad future escapes and tryes to beat up danny on his first day on the job >:((
but superman and kon were thhere and they made dan cry, and they adopt dan before batman could. jon rubs this in damian's face, so damian adopts billy batson. but billy doesn't want to be adopted by damian, so freddy gets adopted instead.
freddy gets to call batman dad, bruce cries because he's called 'dad'
billy gets adopted anyways.
ellie heard that there was an adoption war, and gets adopted by wonder woman.
they go exploring the world together :D
jazz and cass are talkinb about danny's dreams during tea time while alfred is relaxing in the pool with sunglasses on and a cocktail in his hand. jason is a part time butler, part time crime lord, full time pain in the ass. he gets paid by cass to be a pain in the ass. keeeps batman sharp. both of them loves hearing bruce complain about his bad back hahsha
jazz rants about people being mean to danny
why won't people let danny be astronaut? cass is angry
so cass makes a law that says to let danny do what he wsnts and those who stops danny from achieveing his dreams will have to go against larry, who is lord death man, batman's nyemesis
nobody likes larry :(
larry is sad nobody likes him :((
nobody cares that larry is sad :(((
people stop going after danny because people don't like larry
larry is still sad :((((
danny becomes astronaut and beco mes happy, cass is also happy
danny finally asks cass if she would marry him even if he didn't finish colleege.
cass says yes, and the two of them get married and live happily ever after uwu
then end :D
Tumblr media
This is a little all over the place and a little wild, but honestly it has a lot of crack treated seriously potential. I approve. I hope you had plenty of water and that the hangover was not too bad, dear stranger of the internet.
The Ghost King (of Miscommunication)
Parts 1-12: https://www.tumblr.com/mutable-manifestation/701038878865375232/part-12-guys-guys-guys-jason-todd-was-46-when
Part 13: https://mutable-manifestation.tumblr.com/post/701324260415799296/the-ghost-king-of-miscommunication
Part 14! (this post)
Important Context:
J’onn can’t sense Wulf & Superman can’t hear him despite him being right there because ghost invisibility and intangibility both work by the ghost in question kinda shoving themselves out-of-dimension except their consciousness to interact with things (think Kamui re: Obito). They can still be heard if they talk on purpose for the same reason Danny can have feet or a tail - ecto-entities exist in a subjective state of self. So yeah, they haven’t noticed him and are about to be very surprised.
Martian Manhunter’s invisibility and intangibility work through a form of living magic/advanced spacio-biological processes separate from ghost invis/intangibility that leave them out of step with each other and unable to interact (intangible ghost + intangible ghost = still a fist fight, intangible ghost + intangible MM = no touchy).
Also, Martian Manhunter can’t interact with the minds of the dead (the psychic imprints of his bro/fam are actual imprints, not ghosts. If it’s canon that he can interact with ghosts mentally: He can’t now. It’s just nothing. He almost had a martian-equivalent heart attack when Jason walked in the room just the pure embodiment of “Head empty, no thoughts”).
***
The second time Jason tells his story is faster - now that he’s already put it into words it’s easier to narrow down to just the essentials. And the emotional interruptions are manageable enough to not actually interrupt this time around.
He has just under an hour left.
He’s at an orbital space station tens of thousands of miles away from the Earth where Wulf left him.
Bruce managed to get the strongest, fastest, and psychic-est heroes in the JL present, with more on the way.
Worst case scenario, their distance from the drop point should buy enough time for Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Green Lantern to arrive - and Shazam, with any luck - so they could try and figure out What The Actual Hell Wulf and Danny and the Yetis even are.
Jason is still leaning towards fae, personally.
Even if Wulf managed to find him when time was up, surely they could handle one Wulf guy. Jason wasn’t weaponless anymore - having snagged some batarangs and a grappling hook on the way through the batcave - and it was doing quite a lot for his feelings of helplessness.
The tiny body was still decidedly Not Great, but having a bladed weapon and kind-of-a-gun-if-you-aim-it-at-people made him feel much better about his odds, even without the JL members present.
And maybe it was overkill; the guy was a large werewolf dude that could fly and make portals. Maybe that was it.
Jason wasn’t trapped and weaponless in some weird pocket-dimension anymore, he might even be able to take the guy himself with enough information and planning.
Maybe he wouldn’t be able to find Jason in the first place.
Maybe he would, but maybe he’d go down as easily as Killer Croc would when faced with a team like Superman, Batman, Martian Manhunter, and the Flash.
He tried to let that settle his nerves as Bruce began grilling him on his observations since he was taken.
------------------------
Luckily for Wulf, bodyguarding the Ghost Zone’s newest prince proves to be less boring than Danny estimated.
Instead of spending 99% of the time on standby and 1% of the time “fighting idiots,” he’s spent most of it so far briefly observing a new city and exploring a space station.
Despite Jason being with apparent family and allies, Wulf refuses to stray far. He keeps the group in earshot at the very least - close enough to notice any stressed tones or raised voices. There’s still plenty to see - even the conference room itself has plenty of unfamiliar technology; he can’t speak to whether it’s advanced or simply different - Wulf is no Technus.
The fifth time he loops back to the conference room they’ve brought up a digital display of the time.
There’s only one more minute until it was two hours later than the time he’d seen displayed on a clocktower when Jason had first requested privacy.
He thought it had been clear enough that he wouldn’t actually be separating from him. Was Jason worried that he had and that he wouldn’t be able to make it back to the proposed rendezvous point in time?
‘Better to save him the stress and just appear now,’ he thinks, allowing himself to drop to the floor at the end of the table before fading back into visibility.
“No need to-”
He doesn’t get to finish his sentence, Superman blurring sideways to tackle him. He sinks intangibly into him at the first brush of impact, unwilling to test his durability against a man renowned for his strength - even ghosts could feel pain.
Wulf arrests their motion the moment he’s overshadowing the man, leaving them hovering awkwardly over the floor where he had been standing.
He rights the body, and turns back to Jason.
“It is only Wulf,” he soothes, smiles. “I never left you; no need to worry about missing the meetup.”
The red-gold probably-a-hero disappears from the room and he decides to ignore the living for the time being. Wulf had thought humans weren’t fond of friend-combat, but Jason would have already explained what was going on so perhaps heroes were the exception?
“Danny needs at least a more accurate guestimate on the number of human guests to expect than I could give from my observations alone - I assume by the chairs there should be more, yes? How many do you want to bring back with you?”
------------------------
Jason barely has time to register Wulf’s reappearance before Superman tackles him.
Wulf disappears, and for a moment, Jason can almost convince himself that Supes scared him away.
Then Superman stands up and looks at him with Lazarus green eyes.
“It is only Wulf,” it smiles with Superman’s mouth. “I never left you; no need to worry about missing the meetup.”
Jason was never safe.
It had been here the whole time.
Superman hadn’t heard it.
Martian Manhunter hadn’t sensed it.
It had been with them for over an hour and none of them had known.
“Danny needs at least a more accurate guestimate on the number of humans to expect than I could give from my observations alone - I assume by the chairs there should be more, yes? How many do you want to bring back with you?”
Jason barely processes the words, distantly noting Flash’s disappearance - likely for Kryptonite (did it even matter? What was stopping Wulf from hopping to another body? He could hop into Flash and disappear with Jason before anyone could react? [Would he even need to?]).
“Bring…back?” He parrots.
Wulf nods and tilts Superman’s head inquisitively.
“Danny is happy to host as many as you like,” he smiles again.
“Jason,” Bruce’s voice cuts in before he can open his mouth to respond, “What is it saying?”
“Wha-words. What, did you mute yourselves?” He whispers harshly back, anxiety ratcheting up as the clock ticks further and further past the two hours mark.
“The rest of us never learned to speak broken-glass piano, Little Wing,” comes Dick’s bewildering reply.
“What?”
“Whatever language that was was composed of distinctly non-human noises,” Damian interjects.
A beat.
Wulf clears Superman’s throat - Flash still isn’t back and Jason would curse Bruce for putting all of the confiscated Kryptonite under so many layers of security if he didn’t know why (and if he actually thought it would help) - and all eyes whip back to him.
“Mi povas paroli Esperanton se vi preferas, amikoj.”
A beat.
“What?” Jason ventures.
“Ah. I take it that none of your friends speak Esperanto?”
They do not.
“…No.”
“And your guests?”
A part of Jason aches to say ‘all of them,’ to drag his team - his family - back to that strange, beautiful, terrifying prison of a castle and keep them close.
But he can’t.
He won’t subject them to unknown liquids and glowing food and their bodies changing in ways they don’t understand just because his misery wants some company.
That they don’t understand what Wulf is saying means they’ll have less of a chance to endanger themselves trying to stop him before he’s gone.
“None,” he answers, heart heavy and gazes cast to the floor. “I don’t want any guests.”
If he can’t save himself, at least he can protect his family and team from whatever is happening.
------------------------
Jason looks sad when he says he doesn’t want any guests.
Wulf doesn’t quite understand it; they’d seemed so happy to be reunited. Perhaps they got into an argument sometime while he was gone?
‘No matter,’ Wulf thinks, ‘He can always change his mind later.”
Aloud, he asks, “Are you ready to return home?”
Jason looks at him and nods.
His expression is grim - the argument explanation seems more likely by the minute.
He moves to phase out of Superman just as the red-and-gold one returns with a glowing green rock.
Superman drops to the floor as Wulf steps sideways out of him, claws tearing a hole in reality as he goes.
Jason grits his teeth and lunges through the portal while his friends and family stare, seemingly frozen.
Wulf moves to follow.
So do most of Jason’s humans, the collective crying his name.
The large black one and the slightly less-large one with the blue on him are closest, attempting to lunge through the portal.
Wulf gently tosses them into the ones behind them - family or not, the prince explicitly stated he doesn’t want guests - and quickly crosses into the Zone, shutting the portal behind him.
dp x dc crossover
    so this goes with my cork board au this will be how dan and dick met. tell me in the comments witch cupole yall want me to do next (danny x tim) (dani x daimon) (jazz x jason) and like always feel free to addon or rewrite. Also important for the story unlike danny, dan has a fire core. Lastly triggerwarning blood/death
dick was tired he was working a particularly annoying case along with a case for his nighttime persona, bruce asked him to help look into a meta vigilante that tims working with as RR and who avoids the others besides RH. “hay grason can you show tho rookie around” one of dicks co workers asks “sure” dick replies and turns to his coworker and the newbie.
  the newboie is not what he expected. instead of the twigs most newbies start as dick sees a 6′6 tank of a man with pale blue hair that seemed to defy gravity, glowing red eyes, and pale green skin. dick also noted that he didn't appear to be breathing. ‘so a meta’ dick thought and stuck his hand out “sup newbie im richard grason, but most people call me dick, while we are in unifore just call me officer grayson”. the guy smiled flashing his fangs and taking dicks hand “its a pleasure to meet you officer grayson, im dan phenton” winking at dick. dick felt a chill go up his spine. ‘this guy was going to be a distraction’ dick thought wile looking dan up and down, the bi panic is real right now.
---------------------------------
after a few months of taking occasional cases with officer phenton (just call me dan, surger) dick and him ended up becoming official work partners always taking cases together. one day the get called out to a possible domestic abuse case. a neighbor called claiming to hear the wife scream and and then the apartment go quiet.
dan and dick arrived and ended up having too bust down the door to the house dick was the first to enter and the first to see the husband standing over his barely recognizable wifes mangled body. dan noticed something was off the husbands back was turned towards them his right hand was out of their sight. “put your hands up, turn around slowly then get on your knees. your under arrest” dick orders his gun drawn. the man doesn't move. dick walk over to the man about to put his hand on his shoulder “wait grayson something's not right-” dans words where cut short when the man twisted around. dan finally saw what was in his hand but by then it was too late, dick was already on the floor with a kitchen knife lodged in his gut.
  dick didn't understand what happened he just went down, hes been stabbed before this should be nothing. “grayson!” dick heard his partner yell, he tried to respond but his voice failed him, his throat was unbearably dry. his vision was going dark. dicks last thoughts before fadeing to his suprise wasn't about his family, it was about if dan was ok.
-----------------------------------
everything was quit besides a faint beeping in the background. dick opened his eyes blinking as his eyes adjusted to the brightness of the room. he was in the hospital. dick turned his head to see not bruce or any of  his siblings but dan in civilian clothing. he was leaning on his arm while his glowing red eyes practically glared at the folder he was looking over. dick watched as his partners wispy hair flicker like fire. his gaze traveled to his partner's face. his jawline was sharp and his face well defined if he didnt make it as a cop he could've become an actor or model.
 dick knows he shouldn't be ogling his partner (work partner nothing more). but over the months they've worked together dick as grown to like the flirtatious man. and dick didn't care about the whole meta thing either, in fact dick thought dan,s inhumanly aparince was appealing. “your awake” dans deep voice sounded through the room  and dick snapped out of his gaze. “yeah, um what happened?” dick asked “you where stabbed” dan said deadpanning.
“you know what i meant dan, what happened after that.” dick says. “well the women survived she will be permanently scarred but shell live. and as for the perp hes dead” dan shrugs “what do you mean dead?!” dick presses. dans eyes stare into dicks “the perp took a gallon of cooking oil, dumped it on himself, then lit himself on fire. He burned to death. i couldn't do anything to stop him”. dans voice was flat and unsympathetic, dick could tell he was lying.
"Dan tell me the truth, I promise I won't be upset" dick says calmly, dick knew his partner, he could tell even under the guise of cruelty dan tried to put up, he could see the guilt. Dan sighed and placed the folder down "I lost control" he says, dick feels the room grow warmer around him.
"You lost control? Of you abilitys?" Dick questions. Dan had never talked to dick about his abilitys, the only thing hes ever said about them where that they where dangerous. "Yeah when I saw you get stabbed i lost it, and i- I screamed" dan sighs before continuing "apparently one of my abilities has mutated over the years what used to be a simple sonic scream attack ended up causing that basterd to spontaneously combust". Dan was looking down his wispy hair acting more wild than usual, dick learned over time that ment dan was upset.
Dick sat up and placed his hand on Dan's shoulder. "Its ok nobody has to know" dick said and dan looked at him suprised, and honestly dick was suprised himself but dick knows if this goes into their report dan will be treated unfairly. Dan is already treated bad because of his unwillingness to take bribes like dick, but also for his meta status.
"Why? What would you get out of that?" Dan asked dick laughed and said "a date would be nice" winking, as a joke to lighten the mood. Dan smiled flashing his oh so sexy fangs saying "sure I was planning to ask you out anyway, but grayson next time pick a time where you hadnt just been stabbed and the guy you asked out didnt just confess to murder, ok suger". Dick felt his face flush with embarrassment from the agile timing. To be fair dick was jokeing buuuut he wasnt going to look a gift horse in the mouth, hes getting a date out of this.
"Sooo does Tuesday night sound" dicl says smiling, "get better by then, and I think it will be great" dan says smirking down at dick and leaning in giving him a peck on the forehead. Yeah dick is really wishing he asked dan out in better circumstances but hey it worked out.
_______________________________________
Ok I need a ship name for these two like jazz x jason is anger management, and tim x danny is brain dead(before I thought it was dead tired but nope), I also need one for damion x dani.
I have no ideas for dick x dan
But for damion x dani I was thinking traveling assassin/ serious joke/ traveling swordsmen
