this post uses parts and alters language and touches on topics of abuse.
how much comprehension do your littles, syskids, whatever have of the world? even your normal parts? this is a step that i don't hear talked about a lot so... i am making a post about it.
in any system setting, it can be easy to forget that some alters may have very limited and warped worldviews (including hosts), but especially littles and other small parts. not understanding the world around you because of specialisation can make fronting and living terrifying. this can result in negative interactions, miscommunication and fights.
if you, as a child, had never seen a car before, or a dog, then seeing them for the first time unprepared can be super scary. on the converse, learning about new things can be enriching/freeing for alters who might have been living with constant fear based on false assumptions or things that abusers said.
moving to an oea/ramcoa/whatever - do you know how easy it is to convince a vulnerable part with limited/no life experience that you are all powerful?
my favourite example of this is the weather app. my abusers would tell parts that they were gods and all powerful and could change the weather and predict it, days before it happened. alters would be terrified when it rained because they were convinced it was an intentional sign or punishment.
this is not magic. its just deception. they didnt know about the weather app or the news, meterologists, or anything. by providing more information to parts, you can provide new context to their life experiences
same with issues such as going to school/work (do people know about the trains/buses/your car? are they scared of the road? do they know where you're going in the morning?), being sick (do people know that many people will recover from illnesses?) or trying new foods
a lot of the time, alters just dont know. and thats not their fault. and its a good place to start.

Hi, sorry to ask this, as I feel like it’s a bit silly, but if you’re willing-
Do you have any posts or resources (made by you or others) on the term “RAMCOA” specifically? Such as where it originated, how/why it’s harmful, or etc?
I know this has a high possibility to be in your FAQ section, and I’m sorry if it is! I have brain damage and find it hard to navigate through all the text and links, so I thought I might shoot my shot and see if you’d be willing to respond with a few isolated links.
No worries if not, thank you for your time. This is all asked in good faith as well, just in case it isn’t obvious! I don’t want to be misunderstood ^^
Basically, RAMCOA (which stands for Ritual Abuse, Mind Control, & Organized Abuse) is the term used by the International Society of Trauma and Dissociation (source), a group full of conspiracy theorists. (For example, Dr. Alison Miller and Dr. Ellen Lacter both use Svali as a resource. Svali, if you haven't heard, is a woman who claims the Illuminati is real and Disney movies were created for mind control purposes.) If you search for the term on any search engine, you're going to get pages and pages created by said conspiracy theorists.
The term "ritual abuse" was coined by Dr. Lawrence Pazder, the Michelle Remembers guy (source).
I'm not sure about the origins of the term "mind control," but it is heavily associated with conspiracy theories, particularly alter programming conspiracy theories. (Though it does have a lot of usage outside of these contexts.)
According to Wikipedia (which cites articles but I have no access to these articles right now), "organized abuse" also came out of the Satanic Panic, used to describe alleged cases of abuse by multiple perpetrators that didn't involve religious elements. Searching for this term also brings up sites created by conspiracy theorists.
I hope this is what you're looking for!
For more information on the origins of the alter programming conspiracy theories and how we know they're conspiracy theories, click here.

I hate to inform people that moving from policing who can have number names to policing who can have religious names is not, in fact, an improvement in a community with a large number of religiously programmed individuals.

It is okay to mourn the child that you were, or the child that you could have been. It is okay to be sad or angry that no one protected you like you should have been protected. It is okay to grieve.

I hate that the very serious word “cult” has become so overused that its meaning is now decayed. It is currently being used to describe an unpleasant or influential group of people or person. This new definition of a cult is so casually used, it’s as if cults are not an ongoing issue that traps and hurts real people of all ages; especially young children. It makes me inexplicably angry because ONCE AGAIN, people, especially children, are still lured into cults that destroy their lives or take them. The casual usage of the word “cult” is so dehumanizing and devaluing towards cult survivors, it's infuriating.

「 REMNANTS ?!   」
➜ @ a term for an alter who isn’t the core/original, but rather the remains/remnants of who it was. whatever was left of the core who intergrated with fragments.
(mainly for RAMCOA/TBMC survivors)

Something that's been frustrating me lately is certain communities chalking everything up to programming, including normal DID symptoms. Acting differently between parts, amnesia, and parts being triggered by different stimuli is an extremely normal DID experience and is not an inherent sign you're programmed.

i hate shoutout posts, so this is like... a whisper to every single fucking system who can't be in therapy. who arent safe. live with abusers. who dont have the money, dont have the location, cant find a therapist. who cant do this shit.
i think that most advice from the internet is like... if you have did go to therapy and i bet thats useful if u can have it but if you cant, its so isolationg. especially with an individualistic (every man for himself) culture, people often tell u to just... go to therapy bro. dont bother me about it.
here are fr some tips as someone who has a lot of problems and is not in therapy:
prioritise staying alive. it can never get better once you are dead.
take your time with it. you dont need to post alter intros or have a plural kit. you dont need to have a journal. take time to be comfortable as you can even if the circumstances are very bad
depending on your amount of control and interaction with your system, introduce people who don't have a lot of life experience to new things like food, new colours and textures and places. this especially applies if you have a bunch of alters who only really know the environment of their abuse
build community. its really really really hard but do try. having friends kept me alive. it still keeps me alive.
learn about healthy relationships - we all have internet access. learn about boundaries and triggers and talking to others healthily. a lot of people with did will struggle with healthy relationships even if they make them. learn and do your best to act with it
treat your body like a rental or a pot plant or an animal if needed - even if it doesnt seem like yours, you gotta feed and water and walk it bro. u need the sun. you need enrichment and interaction.
ignore the discourse if youre struggling - it actually doesnt matter and will make you more sick. thinkning about endo vs trauma or like.... idk... labels discourse can be a major stressor that can lead to warping your sustem presentation or repressing and harming bits that arent conforming well
engage in things that are irl like building mini legos or clay - it can help make outside a better environment and shit, aklso can help ground.
find your own triggers and talk about it with ur system. write notes or yap.
find joy in being alive and being a system. despite what reddit or youtube or whatever will tell you, as things improve they will get better. and u should look for joy and funnies when you can
dont give up
LISTEN TO YOUR SYSTEM. THEY'RE NOT ALWAYS GOING TO BE RIGHT. THEY LIKELY ARE ASSHOLES OR INSANE JUST LIKE YOU. BUT YOU LIVE TOGETHER.
healing is easier as a team.
i believe in you

friendly reminder RAMCOA is real and exists. there are plenty of systems out there who have suffered this abuse and live their lives with the consequences.
i just think people need to remember them sometimes because they deserve to be acknowledged and feel seen too.

Cult survivors, you don't lack intelligence. You don't lack morality. Your abuse was and never will be your fault.

The DID/OSDD and RAMCOA communities desperately need to re-acquaint themselves with Internet safety protocol. Hell, most young people on the Internet these days need to do better at keeping themselves and their personal information safe.
No one on the Internet is entitled to know anything about you. No one. Please be safe out there.

With Trump coming back into office, it's more crucial than ever that folks with DID and those seeking mental health care in general understand that this whole idea of DID programming cults is a pseudoscientific far right conspiracy theory associated with all kinds of hateful garbage.
Here are some posts to read on this topic:
