Once Batman has revealed his identity to the JL, after some strong encouragement from Superman and Wonder Woman, Bruce decides to try to start being a bit more "personable" with the rest of league. They've been colleagues for a decade and he trusts them all, and according to Clark and Diana this means there's no need for his whole mysterious "shadow of the night" bit, so he invites the league to dinner at the manor.
It is raining heavily, and even though it's not that late, it's nearly pitch dark but for the frequent lightning strikes. The league arrives together at Wayne Manor and the wrought iron gates stretch upward before them, ending in spikes at the top with ivy overgrown across them. They stand there, uncomfortable, wet, a bit weirded out, wondering how they're supposed to get passed the gates.
"This is creepy, right?" Hal says. "It's not just me?"
A voice. "Hello." As the league turns to the sound, thunder claps loud enough to startle everyone as lightning strikes, illuminating a small child standing on the other side of the gates that was definitely not there a second ago. He stands motionless under an umbrella, seemingly unbothered by the rain, expression vaguely irritated, and his eyes seem to flash green in the light. "I have been instructed to escort you inside."
The child doesn't move in any way but the gates slowly swing open, the creaking sounds sound straight out of a horror movie. Once they are fully opened, the boy turns and starts walking down the path without a word.
The league, some members quite freaked out at this point, follow him after exchanging some looks. They round a bend in the path and the manor comes into view. It is a massive dark structure, rising from the ground. Another lightning strike illuminates pointed spires, jagged edges, and it's gloomy, gothic nature. The sound of bats shrieking can be heard in the distance over the rain.
The league finally arrives at the front door, cold, wet, and thoroughly discomfited. An old man, a butler, looking out of time, opens the door, the child disappears inside. The butler welcomes everyone inside graciously but with a distant politeness. Despite the appearance of the exterior, the inside is well lit with warm light and seems inviting, though ostentatious. The league is relieved.
Until another massive lightning strike and thunder clap cuts the power off and the room is pitch black.
"Oh, you're here," a deep voice says from somewhere up above. No sooner are the words out than another lightning strike illuminates a dark, hulking figure on the staircase that was also definitely not there a second ago. At least two people scream.
Bruce is wildly confused as to why his guests are screaming, he didn't think any of them were afraid of the dark? The back up generator kicks on and the lights come back on and everybody seems to calm down. The rest of the dinner seems to go well (as well as a dinner can with the justice league and all of Bruce's kids) but strangely, to Bruce's confusion, it somehow only made his "spooky" reputation worse. He's not really sure why the whole league seems to think he lives in a haunted house.

There are plenty of posts where Justice League and Constantine sees Danny's Ghost King Form in all of its Eldritchy glory, from on being Lightning Based to one being compared to an event horizon, as he takes down the ghost that was giving the League problems and it basically freaks them out.
So when I stumbled upon this picture
Tumblr media
I knew that this could be an excellent form worthy of a King if it was tweaked to fit Danny with ghostly elements, and maybe ice themes sprinkled with something Space related.
Like Vortex or Undergrowth is giving the League trouble, then this thing straight out of the Old Testament shows up, takes down the Ghost, and turns back to Danny who didn't know he just melted the League's brains.
Or, maybe during The Legion of Doom / The Light tries to summon the Ghost King for power/ take over the world, and Danny comes along looking like that and scares everyone there shitless.
How do you think that will go down?
I have had this in my drafts for So Very Long... Im sorry!!!
Holy *^$π, Batman!™
I LOVE the image, and 100% agree, it's an awesome base to work off with Danny.
I think it would be hilarious. Matter of fact, I wrote a fic about it. 😁 If you have an AO3, let me know and I'll gift it to you.
Ao3 here
Be Not Afraid- or Whatever
Summary: The weather god- though Constantine swore it was 'just' a ghost- had pinned down the entire Justice League. While they'd managed to trap Vortex in a two square mile area and evacuate civilians, and even arrested the cult responsible, they in turn were trapped in a small warehouse, protected only by the blood blossom spray and salt circle Constantine made.
With no way to fight it, they had only one choice: summon another ghost. Enter Ghost King Danny Phantom, stage right.
Rain, wind, and hail pounded heavily against the metal roof and walls of the tiny back office of a warehouse.
Earlier today- just this morning, in fact- it had been a bright and warm summer day. The Flash flinched as a piece of hail broke through a window. Constantine didn't flinch, intent on his task. Superman was still unconscious, Batman picking out shards of kryptonite from a bullet that had hit its mark too well.
It was silent but for the occasional pained gasp from their Kryptonian friend, and Constantine's low mutters in what sounded like Ancient Latin to Barry's untrained ears.
Thunder roared, and the single lightbulb went out. Wordlessly, Batman cracked a pair of glowsticks, passing one to him so he could hold it up for Constantine. Clark groaned quietly.
A cult of summoners swearing fealty to Vortex, Lord of Storms, seemed easy enough to stop; Batman made the plan and coordinated with everyone. He and Superman rescued hostages and dock workers alike as Batman and Constantine took down the cult.
It was supposed to be easy. Simple. It was anything but.
The smell of the weird floral spray Constantine used- Blood Blossoms, the magic user had said- was beginning to fade. A drop of sweat fell down Constantine's face. His lips were pressed tight, white against the odd pallor of his face.
"John," Barry whispered, "how much longer?"
Another window broke. Batman swore quietly. "Good news is, we've got the blood sacrifice ready," he joked under his breath. He winced then, and pressed his hand against the bandage on his arm.
It had bled through again, but the others were needed for Clark. In a rare event, the alien was the most injured on the team.
The cultists had purchased bullets laced with kryptonite from somewhere, which didn't hurt Constantine any more than a regular one. The same couldn't be said for Clark.
The magic-user hesitated until water started to bubble underneath the door, threatening the complicated circle of chalk and blood. He spoke, and this time it wasn't in Latin. Barry couldn't recognize it.
The temperature began to drop further while the air around the man began to shimmer, almost. Ozone gathered in the air, and the darkness increased until he couldn't see anything. Even the glowstick was a pinprick of light so tiny he couldn't be sure it was real.
A low rumble sounded and a radioactive green pool started to open. One massive clawed hand grabbed the edge. Constantine's voice cracked- but didn't stop. Another hand pulled out, and another, folowed by one more.
They were white as snow up to the wrists. One massive wing shot up, far too big for the office, followed by another, both black as night and covered with starry patterns. The next thing Barry made out was a crown of twisted black iron and glittering jewels, wreathed in green flame, atop two large horns, blue like sea ice.
The figure continued to rise as John spoke, revealing a second, then third set of wings and a mane of white hair which flowed in a wind he couldn't feel. Four sets of eyes opened, some solid green and glowing, some pitch black, some solid white, and the last a myriad of colors.
The thing's face was almost tan, almost the color of mortal flesh, but green scars like lightning bolts marred it. A thud alerted him of one massive foot, then another, both white and clawed.
The rest of its body except a shining white D was black as the void. When it opened its mouth, he had to look away, unsure if he feared or loved it, found it beautiful or terrifying.
Abruptly, the light from the sticks was back. He didn't dare look at Clark or Batman to see how they were doing; every instinct said he was in front of a predator, and showing the weak of the herd would be a death sentence.
    Finally, Constantine fell silent.
"What's up? Kind of a weird place for a summons, you know," it said, and Barry swallowed. It sounded like a child, an old man, a windstorm, the shriek of a blizzard, the thunder of roaring waves all at once.
"I have summoned you, King of Ghosts, to take your servant back to your realm," Constantine managed, voice only wavering a little.
It leaned forward. "And the price?"
The thing sounded almost teasing. Amused.
"What would you ask of us?"
"Autographs," it immediately said. "From Martian Manhunter, Superman, Cyborg, and Wonder Woman."
    Wait. What?
"I'm a big fan," it added.
"Should all of us survive today, we will do so," he agreed.
"Sweet. Gimme like 5 minutes. Maybe 10, Vortex is a bit of a bitch. Also, be not afraid or whatever. I'm one of the good guys."
It was gone, then, and abruptly Barry sucked in a breath. Sounds of a fierce battle echoed from outside for several minutes before the storm abruptly stopped.
Slightly singed, the Ghost King returned. "Hey, does Supes over there need a doctor? I know a good one in the GZ."
He swallowed. Batman cleared his throat. "We only need to get the kryptonite out of him, he'll be fine."
"Okay!" It chirped, then reached over and, without so much as ruffling the suit, reached into the alien and pulled out a small handful of shards. "I'll be back in a few weeks for those autographs- I'd say tomorrow, but time is weird. Bye, guys!"
"Wait- can I ask for a way to contact you? If you'd be willing to help in the future," Constantine asked.
"Yeah, sure. My Chirper handle is @realdeadguy, all lowercase, no punctuation," he said, "and you can call me Phantom if you want."
    -
    "Guys!"
Sam groaned and Tucker covered his face with a pillow.
"Dude, we know you just got back from a summons, but it's 3 am."
Danny rocked back and forth, wings twitching. "I met the Justice League! They're so cool! Batman was there! Batman!!!"
"I thought you were all about Su-"
"And I saved Superman's life, isn't that awesome?! I kept the kryptonite, look, real-life rock from space!"
"Rocks aren't alive, Danny," Sam muttered. Then, a second later, "wait, what?! You met the Justice League? Was Wonder Woman there?"
"No, but I asked for an autograph."

A Faithful Couple - Bruce Wayne x Batmom!Reader
Tumblr media
A/N: All of Bruce's inebriated ramblings are directly from a dream about Bruce saying to me this morning. Do you have some kind of beef with Aquaman? I don't know. Is that, in the head of Bruce, just a logical course of action between his wife and Aquaman? I don't know??
I've seen a quite a few fics were Bruce cheats on Batmom. In my canon, this would never happen. This fic isn't going anywhere, it was just due to a dream.
Bruce Wayne was well known to be a playboy. It was to be expected of his status and good looks, (even though he's told you of his past partners and you're quite sure they wouldn't even fill both hands) and also an image he has cultivated to deter and Batman suspicions.
As such, even though you were very happily married and known to be as well in the public eye, many people expected Bruce to cheat on you.
A harsh statement but it wouldn't surprise in his high society class, and you marriage has never stopped anyone trying to flirt with or seduce your husband at functions.
Others believed he was in a relationship with Batman, or after an interview once, Superman. (rumors which you and your children loved to remind him of)
But aside from small bouts of jealously from time to time that you let fester only because you both enjoyed the passionate night it would bring, you didn't worry about the forward attention your husband received,
Despite his perfected façade, you knew how truly awkward Bruce was and often needed time to just relax and recharge with his head on your chest after a draining night at a gala.
Hardly a man you needed to be concerned about hooking up with a stranger in your own home's closet.
You knew how loyal and lovingly devoted he was to you, and you alone. Something he had shown you endlessly through your years together.
After all, you've seen Selina. After the first time of meeting her, and being the clear switched over target to her honeyed flirting, you wondered if it might happen, or if he might entertain the idea of her joining you both-
But, Bruce had never mentioned anything besides trying to stop his ex from attempting to steal you away, your flustered expression making his want to interaction to end immediately, so you dropped the short lived fantasy.
That never stopped you and Selina from flirting though. So much that Dick once asked you if Selina was going to be his stepmom too, you received a small glare from Bruce at that.
And after an argument with Bruce once, little Tim asked "When you divorce Bruce can I go live with you and Selina?" You found it so funny you forgave Bruce just to go tell him. He was not quite as amused.
Cheating was something neither you nor Bruce ever entertained the idea of, and were rather open with feelings to each other (though it took a bit of deciphering on your part).
So you were rather surprised with Bruce tonight.
It had been a long night, a long case, and he had had a few more to drink that he usually would.
You found your husband in his study, face down resting on his arm against the desk, one hand tapping idly against an empty glass of scotch.
You glide your hand soothingly across his hunched shoulders and it's visibly as he relaxes, tension seeping away at your touch.
He let out a tired groan before sitting up, leaning back against his chair and fixing you with a look that would be more fitting at a WE business meeting, if not for his slightly lolling head and unfocused gaze.
You gave an amused little hum and raised an eyebrow while he appeared to try collecting his thoughts for an important announcement.
"You will either fight with one of the Aquas, but it will quickly turn into a night of long awaited passion. Or Bruce will finally come clean and ask you about a threesome with the one Super."
Your husband took a breath and clasped his hands together before finishing his statement.
"Either way, Bruce will be supportive."
It took you a moment to collect yourself, an incredulous huff of laughter at your husband, speaking in third person mind you, who must have been thinking very hard on this if his face tells you anything.
"Okay Bruce, first of all, I'm not going to cheat on you," You grab one of his hands, tugging him out of his chair and motioning him to come with the other. "-But you want me to fuck Aquaman? Why is Arthur your dream choice for my hypothetical infidelity?"
You wrap his arm around your shoulder and carefully head toward your room, Bruce attempting to walk without falling asleep.
"...Anyone would be better than Oliver." Now you do snort at that,
"And if you wanted to talk to Clark about a threesome you could just say that Bruce." his cheeks tint a little pinker than the alcohol's effect at that, mumbling as you sit him on the bed.
You start to remove his shoes when you notice he's already fallen asleep half off the bed.
"We'll talk about this another day my dear."
Y/n, annoyed: "Fuck Aquaman."
Bruce, fully accepting self-proclaimed fate, nodding sagely :/ "Someday you will."

I've got a theory about why this happened, and I think the other Mandoverse shows support it, especially Mando S3. Basically, these shows have over-committed to using the Volume to the point that it hurts their action scenes. Not just in terms of how they look and feel, but what can even be put in front of the camera.
As Greig Fraser (the brilliant DoP who worked on early Mando as well as Rogue One, Dune and The Batman, and first got the Volume to work) has said, the Volume comes with pretty steep limitations. Spielberg has managed to do some things with it that Fraser hadn't thought possible, but for the most part it restricts what angles you can shoot at and also what movement you can have. Film Crit Hulk talks about it in more detail re Mando back in 2020:
Note HOW MANY times they’re standing relatively flat and the camera angle is directly parallel to a ground so that it puts the horizon in the same 1/3 of the frame spot behind them. They do this because if they raise the camera higher (as many shots should and would) it would reveal the “boxy” angle of the stage. It may seem small, but it REALLY de-emphasizes the natural surrounding and I’m worried it’s hurting the overall look of the show.
And it occurs to me that arguably the best-shot action of that series is probably the one where they went out and just filmed in the California hills. Note how Boba gets to tower over that one Stormtrooper and how there's a real sense of wham when he lands.
youtube
If you're shooting everything in a context where nothing can move all that fast, though, it really hurts your most kinetic characters. When Kelleran Beq gets his showcase in Mando S3, the camera can't move to add oomph to his strikes or give him a hero shot (in Kenobi you see them trying this with Vader, but they have to stop short of an angle which will actually give the image punch). If you've seen Dune Part Two, think of how the camera races along with Paul and Chani in some of their fights with the Harkonnens. That's wholly missing here.
And this also impacts the old jet packs (and Jedi acrobatics, for the most part). Whereas Jango could rocket around merrily, it's notable that the Children and the Nite Owls alike only really use their packs for dedicated aerial scenes. In the pirate fight, you can easily imagine them boosting from rooftop to rooftop and sparking even more "high ground" memes, but instead they conduct the fight entirely at a walking pace and on the ground.
And all of this hurts Sabine in particular, because like Ahsoka, she originated in animation and has previously been depicted in a really kinetic way. Even without a jetpack, she's a very acrobatic fighter in Rebels, and it's one of the things which makes her a really fun character. But in the process of moving to live-action, Filoni and co opted to change the characters to fit the Mandoverse style, instead of changing the style to fit the characters. The result is that lots of the things that first made Sabine so cool and fun just aren't really possible now.

see, the thing is that (up until countdown at least) there’s no symmetry in jay and bruce's respective ways of grieving.
jay is perpetually trapped in the bargaining stage of grief, trying to reach out to bruce from beyond death.
bruce is way past this. he has settled into a quiet, passive type of mourning, devoid of hope for a reunion. and to stay in this state, he had to necessarily disregard jay’s true image – an image of an earnest, bright child, his son. the memory of jay has been reconstructed in his mind a thousand times and sealed in a folder labeled as “soldier” (or even just a personal failure). it's ugly. it's unfair. it's a coping mechanism.
so to me, the issue isn't that bruce wants his dead, sweet little boy back – the issue is that he barely remembers him. if he did, maybe he would be willing to take a leap of faith and search for that person in jason who came back. but he's not even trying to reconcile the image of 15yo jay with red hood – or rather, maybe the image of a volatile kid that he created in his grief fits with the red hood a bit too accurately. maybe it's a bit too convenient. it works perfectly well for his own self-preservation and sanity, to think that jason has been doomed from the beginning.
jason, on the other hand, is cursed with remembering. one of the very sparse concepts that i found interesting in rhato was when in #3 (2011) jason chose to give up on his happiest memory – skipping patrol to watch a movie with bruce. maybe it's because recalling these tender, sweet moments is what gives him hope, and motivates him to keep bargaining and trying to reconcile with bruce. and bargaining with reality is exhausting. the readers and jay know that it's a lost cause – both because neither bruce nor jay are the same people anymore, but also because, ironically, batman, the symbol of hope, doesn't have any left when it comes to getting his son back. bruce, in his grief, essentially closed the door. jay, in his grief, is banging on them.

Lex Learns Batman's Identity - Preview Snippet from Flightless Birds Part 4
Lex has known Bruce Wayne for most of his life. They used to get dragged to the same boring parties, until Bruce’s parents died. (He’d disappeared for several years after that—he was too young to attend social events alone, and no one wanted to invite his guardian, who was a butler.)
Neither of them had fit in with the other kids, who’d thought that Lex was mean and Bruce was weird. This could have made them friends if they hadn’t shared their peers’ opinions of each other; as it was, they disliked each other more than the other kids disliked either of them.
He remembers one gala he’d been dragged to, the boys had been trying to set up some kind of game. One kid, he didn’t remember who, had decided, “And Lex and Bruce will be the bad guys.”
Lex hadn’t cared what his role was—he’d play the game to make the night go a little quicker, and when it was over he’d spend the rest of the summer with his mom. But Bruce had turned red and stomped his feet and insisted, “I’m not a bad guy.”
They were at an impasse. Eventually, Oliver Queen intervened. He often did, then, for obnoxious child Bruce, and later, for a very different but equally obnoxious teen Brucie, when he was old enough to come to parties without the uninvited butler. (When Bruce was six, Lex had watched him bite a man for calling him Brucie. At sixteen, it was how he introduced himself.)
“We don’t need two bad guys,” Oliver had said. “Bruce can be on my team.”
The game went on. It was a night like many others. But Lex is picturing that Bruce, tiny, red faced, indignant, insisting, “I’m not a bad guy,” when the epiphany hits.
He looks across the room at his son. His son, who now trusts him enough to do homework in his office, instead of meeting in public. His son, who’s dating, of all people, Bruce Wayne’s son.
“Kon?”
“Yeah?”
“Are you dating Batman’s son?”
Kon stares at him. There’s that split second pause that Lex knows means he’s about to lie. “No,” he says, speaking very slowly, like he thinks Lex is stupid, “I’m dating Tim. You know that.” He pauses. “Does Batman even have kids?”
“I suspect he has seven of them. Named Tim, Jason, Dick, Cassa—”
Kon bolts out of the room at superspeed.
Well. He left his homework—he’ll be back.
-
It takes Kon two hours to come back. When he does, he knocks on the front door instead of the office window, and he has Tim with him.
“You forgot your homework,” Lex says. He walks back toward the office, confident the kids will follow him. He’s not about to have some sort of confrontation with a teenager in the front hallway.
Kon sits down. “Tim’ll talk to you when he’s ready,” he says, then resumes his homework.
Tim stares at Lex for a long moment, leaning against the back of Kon’s armchair. Lex waits. He’s had enough encounters with Tim by now to realize pushing him is utterly impossible.
“I was born in a different world,” he says, finally. “Six of the seven of us were. That’s why all my paperwork is fake.”
“Batman brought you here?”
“Yeah. In my world—in my world you paid a psychopath to torture me for three weeks. I was fourteen.”
Kon’s hand snakes around the side of the armchair to grab Tim’s. Otherwise, he seems occupied with his homework.
“At the end of those three weeks, my kidnapper and my world’s Batman were both dead, I was insane, and you were the president of the United States.”
“You killed him,” Lex says.
“Yeah.”
Kon’s hand squeezes Tim’s; Tim squeezes back.
“Batman’s my dad. You aren’t going to ruin another world for me. Because you love Kon. And Kon loves me.”
“I’m not going to ruin anything for you, Tim,” Lex says. He’s trying to picture an even younger version of the very young man in front of him killing Batman. It’s an unpleasant image.
“I knew Bruce flunked gym on purpose,” he says, hoping to lighten the mood.
All the tension goes out of Tim, and he smiles. “He only did it to upset you.”
Kon comes around the chair to stand pressed close to Tim. “Okay?” he asks.
“Okay,” Tim says.
Kon smiles at Lex. “Congrats on being the second smartest person in the room. Tim figured it out when he was nine.”
“Well, accounting for universal variants—”
“Oh, this world’s version of me beat you to it, too.”
Lex decides to ignore that. He checks his watch. “We have dinner reservations. Tim, you’re welcome to join us.” He’d rather have a tag-along than wait for Kon to fly him back to Gotham. And they’d probably miss the reservation. Kon doesn’t fly as quickly as Superman—Lex’s contribution to his genetics, unfortunately.

Yk what I think would be rlly cute? If all of the Robins after Dick just picked a new bird, keep the colors or nah but the aesthetic doesn't change. Just so many cute bird names.
Better idea: They start out as Robin and THEN change it to NEW BIRDS!!
(I got a bit creative)
Exibit A: Dick aka Bluebird
Tumblr media
I like it cuz it's A LOT of blue and tips of black while Dick's costume is VERY black with tips of blue. Ig he can do whatever since he never had a tradition to follow since he MADE the tradition, y'know?
Exibit B: Jason AKA Woodpecker (the Red Headed kind!!)
Tumblr media
Ok let's be realistic that no way Jason would name himself some bird, but idk it could be like a nickname for him, just to include/annoy him :)
Exibit C: Tim AKA Cardinal (THAT SOULD BE HIS NAME WTF UR OLD NAME+ THE FIRST NAME OF THE GUYS THAT TRIED TO KILL YOU??? STUPID AND UNCREATIVE GO GET SMTH DECENT)
Tumblr media
I love my boy Tim but I think we can all agree Tim "Detective better than Batman" Drake is pretty dumb choosing names (wth was "Drake"???) so instead I am doing as any DC fan would do and using canon as a basketball going in the trash. SO TIM'S NEW NAME IN CANON SHOULD BE CARDINAL AND I *WILL* FIGHT AND DIE FOR THIS.
Batgirls in my opinion did very much good in the criteria of names and following an aesthetic so Steph gets to stay as Spoiler cuz it's awesome. Kudos for jobe well done :)
Exibit D: Duke aka Goldfinch (or Gold, Goldie, Finch, y'know the drill)
Tumblr media
I love Duke but I am renaming him cause "Signal" is a little too much to the left for me, back some steps up babe. I LOVE Goldfinches and since they are Backyard Birds and just active I think they fit him being in daylight.
Exibit E: Damian (???) AKA Sparrow
Tumblr media
Idk much about Damian, but for him I chose Sparrow, specifically (image above) the Eurasian Tree Sparrow, cuz 1) it's cute and 2) it's not native to America, to still kinda represent the roots he has on his mother's side of the fam.

Justice Poké league
So basically it was a reblog answer but it's LONG and not in the initial sudjet so I'm making it its own post
@radiance1
hum, I already think that some would be evolutions (superman or Oracle) and others not
clark ken - normal -lvlup-> superman steel flying (can return to normal type with the item Glasses)
batman - fighting dark (Infiltrator)
wonder woman - fighting fairy
Flash - normal electric ?
green lantern : then particular case I think that green lantern would be a talent which makes the type psychic with the ring
GL Hal Jordan: flying maiby flying steel -> flying spychic
GL Kyle Rayner: fairy (because Ion is an artist, nothing to do with his sexual orientation -_-)
GL John Stewart: psychic ??? for me architect = wall and it's psychic attacks maybe then he is twice psychic so double stab and resistance and double weakness?
so I don't know him, but I know things, he was accused of terrorism and has an occasional vision of the future, so fire if you want to have a bad sense of humor or dark because his vision reminds me absol soooo GL Simon Braz: Dark
GL Jessica Cruz .... I have NO idea what she was doing as a civilian before being pushed to be a heroine
Martian Manhunter: spychic ghost, why ghost, for the change in density, the invisibility but also because mourning is part of him and his writing
Aquaman: water (dum)
Green Arrow : normal (the pure normal type is legitimate! and is not just lame! please, the 1g meta was dominated by them, they often have a move set diversify and the move set aspect hyper difersify fits like a glove a green arrow) and if you are really anti normal then fighting
Zatanna: psychic (of course)
Constantine: Dark ghost (I mean… cursed and sold his soul + demon blood)
Cyborg electric steel
Shazam electric flying
Blue Beetle electric bug
Dr Fate : ghost phychic or an item that adds the ghost type on a spychic type and spychic otherwise
Booster Gold: Dark (he can go back in time and become thanks to the action of stealing the museum in which he works)
Hawkman flying dark (traitor / double agent)
hawkwoman flying fighting (or steel or electric with his mace)
batgirl: fighting -> Oracle: spychic
plastic man civil dark (voleur) -> hero: ground dark so I know that this choice seems strange BUT! he is a fan of puns and he tries to "bury" his thief reflex / his kleptomania … in addition the plastic is immune to electricity sooo ground
Starfire: fairy / fire all space related pokemon tend to be either phychic or fairy but as flying and psychic are already very representative and that his power comes from his emotions finally
Robin (Dick): flying fairy -> Nightwing: flying dark (with access to electric attacks)
Robin (Dick): flying fairy ->Red X: Dark fairy (so, i like the idea of a pokemon that always changes one of its types to dark as it evolves and that type has different aspects (wrongdoing / obscurity) depending on evolution and it's a different type that gets lost during evolution. Red X and above all a thief and not by real choice at first, I'm not going to dwell too much, but the image of him having his wings clipped is just too lively and poetic to pass up)
Jason préRobin : fighting dark (tire theft) -> Robin (Jason): fighting fairy -die in a fight after gaining a level (so in a trainer fight / serious fight)-> red hood Ghost Dark/Fairy like this one I think I have to explain it: for how it evolves, yep to make it possible only against a trainer who can kill it and after having already fought well, it's original, but given the methods of he evolution introduced in legend is not out of place either. For the ossilation between two types, dark is for rage pits and fairy because its goal is always the revival of the alley of crime, moreover the contrast seems cool to me :3
tim prés robin: Dark -> Robin (Tim) Dark fairy (-> stalker=Dark and so far fairy for all the robins because they supposed to represent hope) -> red robin : ..... dark losing robin's mantle makes him lose the fairy type without preventing him from learning fairy attacks, moreover it's an evolution that has been reversed so … red robin is a mega evolution?
Robin (Damien): Ghost fairy (I hesitated, but I wanted a different type for each robin and the al gull lineage is associated with lazarus and death. As long as he follows the blood heritage mentality he stays in the al gull mentality and therefore the ghost type for me)
Beast boy: normal protéen
Raven: Dark fairy (fairy and not psychic because its powers are dependent on its emotion (like starfire) and the aspect controls darkness and more obvious than the purely magical aspect
hum, I think we've covered this important enough or that I feel comfortable enough to have an opinion.
BUT I would like your opinion on how the DC heroes or characters would be as pokemon.
at firstI also wanted to give them ability and secret Ability but I've been there for hours and my pc has already overheated once ^^'

The Batman Part II: My Theories
Please take this with a block of salt because as of right now all we have are rumors. Maybe take that block of salt home to your cows :)
Theory #1: Clayface
So, word is that Clayface may appear as the main villain in Part II. I've noticed some people in various comment sections being doubtful, because a giant shapeshifting monster made out of clay is a sharp left turn from the "grounded realism" of the first movie. They make a good point, which is why I predict that, if Clayface is actually going to appear, he'll be based on the Golden Age version. This was Basil Karlo, a failed actor who took on the alter ego of Clayface, a villain he used to play, to kill various actors and was thwarted by Batman and Robin.
Now, having two serial killer villains in a row would be repetitive, so I theorize that this Clayface will take a different approach. Imagine Basil Karlo using his skills in impressions and makeup (maybe a cutting-edge prosthetic face mask called a "clay face") to impersonate celebrities in Gotham, only to purposefully get caught in scandals. The real celebrity insists it wasn't them, but it's too late, and they're effectively "killed" in the courtroom of public opinion. And Clayface didn't even need to lay a finger on them.
Meanwhile, Bruce Wayne is finally trying to develop his public image after ~20 years, only to discover a villain with the ability to singlehandedly undo all his progress in the eyes of Gotham. In the comics, this would be the part where Batman and Robin are on the case, which leads me to...
Theory #2: Robin
We haven't had a well-received Boy Wonder on the big screen since Burt Ward played him in 1966. If you're anything like me, that's pretty damn frustrating (Dick Grayson appeared in the comics before the Joker AND before Alfred!). So hearing this rumor of Dick Grayson appearing in Part II is both exciting and nerve-wracking, because writing a believable child sidekick in a "grounded, realistic" superhero movie is a challenge. Just logistically, it works in stories like Logan or The Last of Us, because X-23 is immortal and can shrug off most injuries, while Joel eventually taught Ellie how to shoot. But with Batman and Robin, you have a very-much-mortal kid wearing a colorful costume going up against the kinds of people who quite literally emptied their magazines into Batman's chest last movie. How do you make that character fit believably into the world you've made?
Obviously the only ones who can answer that question are Matt Reeves and Mattson Tomlin, the writers for Part II. But I'd be lying if I said I didn't notice some ways that Dick Grayson might've been set up in The Batman. First off: the mayor's son. Bats interacts with him three times throughout the movie. He saves the kid's life twice, once as Bruce and once as Batman. Furthermore, the mayor's son is the first civilian to trust Batman after the flood: he walks towards Bats first, and everyone else follows. In the wise words of Red from OSP, if you can't imagine your Batman comforting a scared child, then you haven't written Batman, you've written the Punisher in a funny hat.
Second: HBO's Penguin series. The fact that they're introducing other gangsters from the comics (Sofia and Alberto Falcone, Salvatore Maroni) gives me hope that they might take the opportunity to introduce Tony Zucco, the gangster who killed Dick Grayson's parents. There are quite a few actors cast in undisclosed roles, maybe one of them plays Zucco...? Either way, setting up Zucco's extortion of Haly's Circus in The Penguin and following it up in Part II with the Flying Graysons' murders would be a good way to tie those stories together.
Third: Bruce Wayne's reappearance. Part I was all about Batman discovering that he has to be more than vengeance, and Reeves has said we'll be seeing more of Bruce Wayne in Part II. Perhaps Bruce's first major public appearance is attending a performance by Haly's Circus, and he just so happens to witness the deaths of the Flying Graysons. And we know what happens next. What better way to force Bruce to take his image seriously (aside from Clayface's shenanigans) than for him to suddenly have an angry, traumatized, highly impressionable kid in his life?
Fourth: This is the weakest reason, but at the end of the movie Selina mentions she's moving to Blüdhaven, which also happens to be where Dick Grayson goes after growing up and becoming Nightwing.
That turned out longer than I thought it would be. Again, these are all just rumors, but I wanted to put my thoughts and theories down in writing in an organized way, and to see what anyone else thinks. Thank you for reading.

You reminded me of the Joker war toxic long term relationship framing
Bruce waking up in Ivy's Eden with the narration bubble containing word " love"
Harley saying she was offered rehabilitation there from when Joker poisoned her - Taking Bruce there to heal from Joker's poison as well. Symbolically cleaning his system of Joker as she did before him
Punchline, another love interest, entering this particular space as well where her and Harley fight over Joker and discuss his brand of " love"( which makes me wonder if Harley is heart, Punchline is brain, what would be Bruce? Both, none, something else)
Constant mention of family surrounding Joker - Barbara saying he will be left alone, him saying corpses are his and Bruce's creation, him saying if he wanted children he would take Batman on a date, having his own version of Dick, Jason's connection to both Bruce and Joker as his creators and theme of leaving their kids behind...
Their fight where Joker wants to carve BRUCE and looks hurt and done( I might be imaging this and I have no copy of the comic with me right now, but I swear I remember going " Wait is Joker having tears in his eyes in this panel? I could be very wrong and thinking of something else)
Harley again being sort of a guide and presenting Bruce with the choice she had to make... Bruce having a wake up moment where he finally leaves Joker behind and " follows Harley's path"... leaving the toxic relationship like she did...
And I will include both Bruce and Harley being in the hospital room together in the end, another parallel
Bruce's Alfred vision and what it contains
Joker mixing and matching their symbols and even suit together
When Bruce walked away I felt genuine happiness and relief because of the way this story was presented. It felt freeing. And Harley my love ❤❤❤
God. They really did not hold back on framing Bruce and Joker as in a toxic relationship, huh. I didn't even catch all of these.
And damn, there are tears in Joker's eyes in Batman (2016) #100. You could argue it's just the art style, but it'd certainly add to the scene if this was the case:
Tumblr media
If this isn't a divorce arc, I don't know what is. Joker tried to cut off Bruce's face, Bruce refused to play by the rules of the game and walked out... Joker ended up leaving Gotham and now we have a whole comic called Joker: The Man Who Stopped Laughing incoming... Truly curious what's in store for these two.
Though you really got me wondering with the question of where Bruce fits in, between Harley and Punchline -- or if he even fits in at all. Tynion definitely framed Bruce as another person caught in Joker's harmful web of influence, but while he offers a direct answer regarding what Harley and Punchline got out of it, he doesn't quite do so for Bruce. If what Harley wanted from Joker was "heart", and what Punchline wants now is "brain"... what kept Bruce in the relationship? What did Bruce want?
In the end, I do think the answer falls between "something else" and "both". But I ended up getting very long with the rambling and the comic panels, so I'm putting the rest under a cut. [sigh]
Thing is, both Harley and Punchline aren't perceiving Joker as who he really is. Harley got manipulated by Joker because she wanted him to have a human side, and Punchline is getting manipulated by Joker because she wants him to have a plan, an agenda -- a point to make. It could be argued that Bruce doesn't really fit this pattern, because Bruce isn't projecting anything onto Joker, or making him into something he's not for his own reasons. Bruce may not have any illusions about who Joker really is, since within Joker War itself, when Bruce hallucinates Alfred, his own mind tells him the following:
Tumblr media
Bruce knows exactly what Joker is doing, and that in Joker's head, only him and Bruce are even real. So, if Bruce sees Joker as he really is... maybe what Joker's been providing is precisely himself.
In Joker's own words (yes it's Harley under there, but a recording is playing) from Death of the Family, which has a similar plot and motivation for Joker's actions:
Tumblr media
Joker's role, both in his own eyes and from a narrative point of view, is to provide conflict that makes Batman stronger. And whether he admits it or not, Bruce does depend on it. He needs Joker to be the villain; he's the darkness Bruce defines himself as "hero" against. Even in that conversation with Alfred, Bruce's whole life goal of fighting against death is equated with a fight against Joker:
Tumblr media
Bruce puts Joker and death on the same level. And you could say he's right, in seeing Joker as an irredeemable psychopathic monster set out to ruin everything Bruce loves, a destructive force of nature that's barely human. Because he is. Arguably, Bruce sees Joker as who he really is. However... Joker doing this -- being Joker, being Batman's nemesis and Gotham's nightmare -- is a result of both "heart" and "brain". For Harley, for Punchline, for anyone else... it's only a means to an end, a tool for manipulation. Except for Bruce. That's when it's genuine.
Joker indeed doesn't see anyone other than him and Batman as real, but that puts them on equal level. That means Joker functions like a person (arguably what Harley and Punchline want) only in relation to Bruce. His most human moments have taken place in relation to Bruce, always; there's a whole part in Death of the Family dedicated solely to how Joker's eyes only work as human eyes for Bruce, and only reflect love. And Joker truly does not have an agenda, but he has an agenda when it comes to Batman. He does have a point that he wants to prove, something he believes in, but it's only in opposition to Batman's beliefs. In his own bitter and resentful words from Endgame, he's "fighting for meaninglessness, but giving meaning by virtue of the fight." God, I'm once again having Feelings about the unbelievably fucked-up dynamic they have. Bruce's side of the whole thing is just so...
The monster loves you. The monster is keeping himself alive by being a monster for you; being a monster is giving his life purpose, because a monster is what you need. That love is the only thing left that's human about him, and he's using it to turn himself into your worst nightmare. But you do need the nightmare, so you can't let the monster die. You keep your own nightmare alive, at any cost.
[clears throat] Anyway, you probably get what I meant with Bruce getting both "heart" and "brain" from Joker, but also "something else". Bruce does correctly identify Joker as "death", as evil, as a curse. But he's also projecting; doing what Harley and Punchline are doing, except in a different direction. It's not "heart" or "brain" for him, it's "monster" -- and he's the only person on Earth who can even do this and be wrong about it, because Joker only has feelings for him.
And to address the last part of your ask, I get feeling happy on Bruce's side for managing to walk away, but... well, I'm compelled to say, I don't think it can be expected to last. Bruce had a break-up attempt at the end of Death of the Family when he bluffed about knowing Joker's name, and then Joker had a very real break-up attempt in Endgame which ended up with both of them dead. But then they came back and returned to the usual song and dance, more or less. And especially within current events... I don't see it as a very clean separation. It's not a strong enough attempt on Bruce's side, and that's mostly because of the way his choice to walk away was framed in the first place.
None of it would've happened without Harley, as you said; and now that I went back to Death of the Family and her involvement, it's interesting how she was a passive player being used by Joker there, but in Joker War she's an active player. However, since Harley is the catalyst, she's also the one to set the terms:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Harley does say earlier that the killing shot should come from Bruce, but she doesn't say anything about letting Joker die when she leaves. The choice she presents Bruce with is the following: will you always be what he wants you to be? Will you always let him dictate the rules of the game, or will you change them for once? (And yeah, obviously... she speaks from experience.)
And then Joker makes it worse, because he plays into Harley's hand, not realizing that he's going too far. He demands to be saved -- something he's never done before. I talked about it somewhere else, but most of the time, Joker is trying to get Batman to kill him, not to save him. Having Joker explicitly do the opposite is another sign of how far things have devolved between them. And then, after it's 100% made clear Joker can survive and that Bruce knows he's not leaving him to die, Bruce goes after Harley -- in her own words and the narrative's words, he defies Joker's game. He refuses to play his part, and it's a message to Joker:
Tumblr media
"But now he knows. [...] I think... I think that matters." Even though he did find the bomb intact and Joker clearly escaped, Bruce walked away and made his point. Now, Joker knows that the city, and Batman with it, have changed. (God, the way Gotham is used as a metaphor for both Batman and Joker, and as a metaphor for their relationship, and as a metaphorical prize to be won in the battleground of it and the war between them...)
And don't get me wrong, I do think Bruce made a conscious and real decision to emotionally disengage, to change the game and the way he relates to Joker. It's just that putting it in practice is a lot more complicated.
Tumblr media
Bruce admits that Joker was right, and then proceeds to implement the lessons learned during Joker War. And well, you can definitely objectively agree with someone's point without it saying anything about your relationship with them, but it's the framing from Batman (2016) #100 -- "Do you want to change the game?" -- that makes me see it as more than that. How is Bruce changing the game, if he's doing precisely what Joker ultimately wanted him to do? Isn't he basically becoming a Batman that Joker would deem worth fighting for again? Hell, he even ends up distancing himself from the Family later in Failsafe, though he currently seems to be getting his head on straight about that.
I guess I see it as quite complicated... Joker War is in many ways about Joker going too far in trying to force Bruce to be the Batman he needs, a lot like Death of the Family. It's a bit of a spiritual successor. In both stories, Bruce snaps and defies him. Seeing as Tynion helped with the writing of Death of the Family and Endgame, which are very heavy in their Batjokes connotations, I don't think it's at all a coincidence that Joker War reads like an escalation on Joker's part, all while seeking to do the same thing as before: make Batman see the truth, make Batman stronger. From Death of the Family onwards, Joker's been feeling that Batman is lacking. He's been trying to hurt Bruce more and more, until he relents and becomes the Batman Joker envisions. It's not just Bruce who's been walking out, which is why it feels to me like a complicated divorce arc. Joker's unsatisfied, so he lashes out; Bruce fights back with the few things he knows that would hurt Joker, but in the process he does become a stronger Batman; it never actually ends. I mean, it would have ended already, if DC had allowed Bruce and Joker to just be dead in Endgame. But they won't do that any time soon, purely because these characters interacting makes for fantastic conflict, and it sells.
But who knows! I am very curious about The Man Who Stopped Laughing. Rosenberg does seem to have a good understanding of Joker's character, if Joker Presents: A Puzzlebox is any indication. Maybe they'll take this divorce arc into an interesting new direction that allows for more significant character development.
This got really long, Anon, I'm sorry about that. Also, my interpretation isn't meant to make it any less relieving for you that Bruce walked out, it's still an important decision on his part. And I do like that it happened; after all, if Bruce didn't truly fight back against Joker, they wouldn't be equals. So thank you for the ask, you really identified some very interesting aspects in the writing of Joker War.

makenzie!! batman adaptation discussion for you: it could be argued that there are small elements of camp in batman begins (jonathan crane & falcone embodying them specifically, but also zsasz a little bit lmao), that are nearly obliterated in the two sequels... like nolan was toying with the idea of letting loose, mayhaps. it's really interesting to me, especially because batman begins is arguably the most boring film of the three. would love to know if you have thoughts on this
(my thoughts are getting away from me but also like how does this compare to the kind of camp in batman 2022?? neither are very similar to the 80s/90s films)
hi Elizabeth!!! I was waiting to answer this because I thought my Batman movie club was going to knock out all three Nolan movies pretty quick and I could give a more informed answer, but alas - we've hit a hiatus after Batman Begins, so that's all I'm going to have to work with and it's going to have to suffice because I don't want to leave this sitting in the inbox any longer.
I think for the most part Nolan's Batman movies are too wildly self conscious to qualify for true camp status, but without having revisited the Dark Knight and Rises yet I think I can agree that Begins has the most flirtation with maybe getting a little silly? I think Zsasz is too minor to make much of a dent in the all-consuming self-seriousness, but Cillian Murphy is really breathlessly committed to the Scarecrow and playing him as a straight-up comic book villain in a way that doesn't get to happen much later in the series. he tells Batman to lighten up while he sets him on fire, which rules and would, I think, probably not be allowed in the later movies. he ends the movie wearing a straightjacket riding a stolen police horse and gets immediately taken out by a lawyer with a taser! he's giving us everything he has to give! he has like four minutes of screen time and all of them are perfect.
I do think it's very interesting that throughout all three movies, Nolan is picking out antagonists who are known for being like. BOMBASTICALLY weird and over the top - Scarecrow! Two-Face! Catwoman! Bane! the fucking Joker!!! an entire secret society of assassins, COME ON - and then kind of fighting against the very nature of these characters to make them fit into the world he's envisioned, with mixed results; Harvey and Selina and Bane in particular all fall pretty flat for me. like, fuck, where's Lady Shiva's movie? not that she's not also on some freak shit, but a vicious martial artist obsessed with proving herself against the best fighters in the world seems way easier to fit into a grounded Bat universe in a way that doesn't feel anticlimactic than, say, a bad CGI Two-Face who almost immediately gets murdered. there were options!
anyway I've gotten way off topic, but I agree that Begins had the most wiggle room to set the tone for the universe by virtue of being the first and it did Try Some Things, especially with the presentation and pomp of the League of Shadows, as well as some of Bruce's Brucier moments when he's playing up his rich dolt image, but ultimately a lot of it got rejected in the latter installations in favor of getting ever grimmer.
comparing it to the 2022 movie is REALLY INTERESTING because they're both very dark and gritty, tonally, and I've spent a lot of time trying to figure out why one of them mostly works for me and the other one mostly doesn't (although I'll preface this by saying that they both have high and low points, especially: re their casting; Murphy's Scarecrow is inspired in a mostly bland movie and Paul Dano's Riddler is miserable in a mostly excellent movie, etc).
for me personally a lot of it comes down to how much trust the respective directors seem to be willing to put in their audiences to buy in and accept Batman as a story for what it is; this is largely what I mean when I say Nolan seems insecure in his story. Batman Begins, in particular, has much of its first hour bogged down by explanations of where every individual piece of Bat costuming and tech comes from, almost like Nolan feels a need to look at the audience and prove that it totally makes sense and could work; it comes across like he was specifically anticipating and writing for people who would call Batman's gadgetry unrealistic plot holes, and preemptively apologizing for what Batman is. the whole trilogy comes across as similarly cringing, like it can't quite shake being embarrassed by where it comes from.
The Batman 2022, to me, is sort of tonally similar, in that it's very grounded in the crime and corruption and grimiest parts of Gotham, but it reminds me much more of stories like the Long Halloween the way it's taking place in a sweaty haze version of the city that feels like a fever dream. everything is so heightened where Nolan's movies are so grounded as to be miserably earthbound; from the opening narration Bruce is already a prowling, larger than life shadow who calls himself a creature of the night and sulks around his miserable gothic mansion in running eye makeup while flinching from the sunlight. Reeves doesn't waste a fucking second explaining what Batman is or why Batman is because you are a 21st century moviegoer, you know what and why Batman is and we have shit to do. he already knows Gordon, the Joker is already in prison, the Batmobile is a muscle car that looks goddamn possessed and no, you don't need to worry about where it came from.
the whole movie is wrapped is this fucking. vaguely horny neon ambiance where you mostly know the rules but also have this sense that anything weird could happen at any moment; it's a space that is operating without powers or anything too outlandish for now but very much feels like it has room for a Poison Ivy or a Scarecrow twisting your mind, for a Clayface making you paranoid as you don't know who to trust. it's a gorgeous world to play in and I think it's going to lend itself much more to adapting the world, much more so than the Nolan movies where the addition of each new iconic character just came with the question of how much would be stripped away and flattened to make them fit in. camp requires that kind of playful artifice, things masquerading as other things, to work, and I think Batman 2022 really nailed that.

LMAO I LOVE THIS NEW AU
I can just see Bruce having a breakdown trying to understand where he fits in the relationship. Meanwhile the girls are just chilling.
Thinking about how you said Cheetos were his cheat food and I can just see him stress eating bags of Cheetos all while Alfred and Dick are judging him so hard.
THE NEWS WOULD BE HAVING A FIELD DAY ALSO TRYING TO KEEP UP WITH THE “DRAMA” IF THEY FIND OUT.
The funny thing is that the news would probably just see this a proof of his playboy image meanwhile Bruce is just that crying on the floor meme drawing.
It would definitely help him hide his being Batman lolz
girls aren't even colluding, literally chilling. it's such a non-issue because of the specific circumstances and who vivienne and rosalyn are as people
bruce is trying to mission board this, cheetos in hand
alfred can't do anything but judge, not what he's paid for
dick has his own mission board on what happened because bruce is getting very annoying about it all and he needs to understand cause to fix the effect
i think the only way the tabloids (not news, let's be real here) would know is if the girls were lumped among other paramours of brucie wayne. the two of them aren't well known outside of their niche or circle, and @rozaceous did say they were our most 'normie' SIOCs, so the interesting thing would be being part of bruce's 'body count' so to speak
or oof if allegations of some shadiness came out w how WayneTech is structured, but again. they don't have public offerings, they can get away with less scrutiny than some higher up messing around with the CEO or owner or what have you
(but oh boy. i thought more on what group would have the gossip. the demographic will surprise you and killed roz laughing)
bruce is indeed crying on floor meme. he's still going around doing his...other liaisons (of which rosalyn and vivienne do not care about, will not get in the way of, it is what it is), but idk at this point the two of them have been the closest he's been to non-threats

I ❤️ ur Joker so much can I hear ur hcs for her? 😼 also maybe some batjokes hcs sprinkled in there heh
this FANTASTIC ask has been rotting in my inbox for months so here’s my current wealth of joker hcs. written on paper. in unintelligible handwriting
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
im sooo normal and regular about her <3 (transcript below cut)
thinking soo hard about my au joker. he's consuming my every waking thought! he lives in my brain!
soo I talked about her a little already but he's intersex and uses he/she pronouns :) his gender doesn't really exist she just does what she wants (whatever's funniest)
anyways she looks predominantly physically male - flat-chested, long-limbed, laryngeal prominence, etc. - but his hormone balance isn't super testosterone-heavy. like she can't grow bodily or facial hair (he does have eyebrows/eyelashes and a full head of hair though) and i believe he has a set of ovaries (but he can't get pregnant lol. he's sterile and doesn't have a vagina so they're kind of just in there)
other biological quirks include faster cell growth - like wounds heal faster and hair + nail growth is sped up - she also has a VERY strong immune system and rarely ever gets sick, has weird reactions to fear toxin + ivy's pheromones (+ a lot of prescription drugs and medical anaesthetics don't really work on him), she has a ridiculously high pain tolerance but feels it really acutely (he can just deal with a lot of it), has a lot of chronic nerve pain like a constant crackling surface pain (stolen from that one LKOE dracze fic) and part of her masochistic streak relates to the fact that strong pain breaks up the nerve pain (that and marginally faulty wiring), and she for some reason has reflective retinas like an animal! which is real spooky
her bleached skin is really thin + pale and you can see a lot of veins under it so he looks like a deep sea creature → she's also incredibly emaciated and looks real skeletal - his body mass is super low + it's kind of a medical mystery that he doesn't have some kind of fatigue disorder. I think it's something to do with how his body processes and stores nutrients. idk
before her first outing as 'the joker', he used to stalk bruce around the city when he was on patrol. she did this for maybe a year, and bruce would sometimes see him stood in alleys, perched on rooftops, watching him. bruce spotted her maybe a total of 12-15 times, and kind of doubted that he wasn't just hallucinating; it would've been an eerie image - a figure, ghostly white, skeletal, dressed in a hospital gown + sporting dead eyes and a head of long, straggly green hair - and bruce had only been on the job for about 2 years so he wasn't quite as paranoid yet. when joker first came to prevalence that's when bruce realised it was her :) idk i just want him to haunt bruce in a way that he can't shake similarly to the memory of her fall at ACE
also! some details from canon that I'd like to insert: ↓
- the birthday gifts thing: I really liked that idea and think it's a very joker thing to do - she also celebrates anniversaries (eg. their first fight, bruce's first outing as batman, joker's first major crime, the incident at ACE, etc.) he's sentimental :) - his affection for crossdressing (it isn't really crossdressing in this context but. whatever the instances of it are canon) i think it's neat idk i like seeing her visibly gnc - I wanna keep the wide shapes of a lot of storylines like europa + snyder's stuff (the bench universe, dotf and endgame, etc.) + devil's advocate + joker's apprentice + maybe chunks of deadly duo + broken city + other things - might contain (while credited) some stuff from fit as well bc i'm a total loser ← currently writing fic (like two step and you're by excuse to travel by synthwave + maybe sucker for pain by transformatron + green the colour of greed by distortopia + something these angels wear and with my toes on the edge by cultivation + chunks from other stuff) idk it's kind of difficult to ascertain the speed at which i want their relationship to escalate. we'll see! i definitely want something to have happened during europa (and I'm treating that dracze fic set in the bench universe as canon) but like. they might just be trapped in perpetual hell like in the comics. thanks bruce's morality - i also want to note that in this au literally most everything else is the same as in canon. I'm gonna be drawn to include my headcanons for all the characters and whatever but the batfamily is still constructed the same + jace still dies and babs is still paralysed + the JL is still established + at its core it's still the same thing :) while i'm here i want say though that it's likely i'll take the telltale route with bruce's parents having mob ties because i think that throws a fun moral wrench in the works for him to deal with - much of my interpretation of the joker is based on a grant morrison's interpretation of him. morrison is such a majorly influential writer for me and their description of joker in the arkham asylum cut script notes was tbh my major inspiration for this version of joker :) like that thing they said: "pale and emaciated, he should look simply grotesque but standing there, hand on thrust-out hip, he projects an absolute confidence that confers upon him a bizarre kind of attractiveness and sexuality. it is the attraction of the perverse and the forbidden." - btw. i wanna make a point to include matches malone in my canon. bruce actively uses the matches persona :)
i wanted to detail her weird physical appearance mostly for the sake of the image of him in Arkham; no makeup, no costume, no way for her to dress himself up. he struggles a lot with her image + not feeling attractive or desirable (very 'if i gave up on being pretty i wouldn't know how to be alive') and arkham makes him very unstable because he has no way of controlling the way he's seen
he also has a prosthetic eye like in the comics :) i'd like to think she lost her eye in an altercation with bruce and it helps tie bruce's morality to the joker - whenever bruce sees him, it reminds him of how much harm he causes. lol! i LOVE torturing bruce he's such an interesting character giggles :)
btw for the record i'd also like to state that i consider bruce and joker's relationship to be inherently sadomasochistic in nature. considering joker's canonically a masochist and gets off on what bruce does to him + bruce recognises this and continues to pursue her just the same. they're SO interesting to me
i also believe the thing from the comics about joker's worldview; that she believes he and batman are the only real people in the whole universe. i think it provides such an interesting perspective on his actions - (in that context) he crucially doesn't see the people he kills as people, but rather like. tools. symbols. i think it really communicates the central conflict of his character idk i think it's interesting
on a less deep note, he has a thing for clothing and makeup. she has HEAPS of it stored in warehouses + stuff. he's really good at concealing her safehouses so a lot of it goes undiscovered. he gets his foundation from japanese theatre companies bc they're the only places that do it light enough lol. also important to note that he wears garters + sock suspenders + shirt stays + corseting + structured undergarments + heels + super complex layers of clothing. he prides herself on the craft of it :)
she really takes pride in her performance + the way she's seen - her whole life, his whole career is one big performance. there's very little underneath 'the joker'. he doesn't know who she is, he has no life before bruce, no name, no identity, nothing outside of her fixation on the batman. he was ther at ACE that night (she believes he is - or at least his negligence is - what made her) and joker really clings to batman as a point of stability and focus because, unlike bruce, he has nothing outside of his persona. the batman is bruce wayne (shocker) - he has a life, people he loves - but joker has nothing. that's part of the reason joker's so desperate to ignore that bruce has a 'real identity' and is so defensive of people discovering it; as well as meaning the destruction of batman, it would also remove joker of her ability to deny that there is a person behind batman. he wants so badly to believe that this is all bruce has - that HE is all bruce has - just as is true for him. beneath it all, she just wants to be loved. she just wants to not be alone.
sigh! that was a lot! i don't wanna make him just a deep, dark, brooding character that's BORING that's bruce's job lol. loser. anyways she can be silly too he has whimsy in her soul as well :) i believe soo intensely in DC's ability to be a silly universe because it's inherently so stupid as a concept so to me silly guy joker is real <3 they can have fun
joker getting roped in on justice league stuff is soo personal to me let her be helpful let him make fun of the JL and their stupid missions :)
btw. for future reference he is in no way attracted to women (sorry yuri joker) his relationship with harley (+ MAYBE punchline. strong maybe. only as his protégé) is PURELY manipulative and joker NEVER thought of or treated her sexually or romantically. there's still gonna be animosity there though lol because he still abused and manipulated harley and she still thought joker loved her, but the fact remains that he isn't even vaguely attracted to women so! idc punchline likers so somewhere else lol
another thing from canon (devil's advocate) i'd like to steal is the fact that joker sleeps with his henchmen :) it's real to me
she has a lot of silly pseudo-crushes on a lot of other characters (like lex luthor + bane + lobo + killer croc + superman + what have you. he's a slut what can i say) but none of them will EVER be bats! they know their place and it's NOT in murder-suicide love with her
kicks feet idk i have so many thoughts about joker even though i feel so cringe writing them down. idgaf this is important work

Zorro (Get your swashes buckled, folks!)
[All images are owned by New World Television and Zorro Productions, Inc (really!) Please don’t sue me or ruin my clothing with Zs]
youtube
(Thanks to megafan_12)
For those who are unaware, Zorro (“The Fox” in Spanish) is a masked swordsman who fights a corrupt government in the same vein as Robin Hood or the Scarlet Pimpernel, but in the town of Los Angeles during the time California was under Spanish/Mexican rule. Much like the aforementioned literary heroes, Zorro is a member of the local aristocracy (Don Diego de la Vega, son of one of the largest landowners in the region) who acts like a dandy and a coward to hide his masked activities.
He has been in literature since 1919 and has been in several movies and television shows (usually by a white man) In fact, it wasn’t until the 70s that a Latino (or Spanish) actor was cast in the role! Talk about injustice!
Most people know the Zorro films that starred Antonio Banderas as the title character (who inherited the mantle from Anthony Hopkins, yet ANOTHER white guy!) Many have seen Guy Ritchie as Zorro in the 50s (who didn’t need to worry about being white since the series was filmed in black & white and no one could tell his skin tone) The film I was first introduced to the character was Zorro, the Gay Blade (no, it wasn’t porn!) which starred Goerge Hamilton (yep, another while guy) as Don Diego and his twin brother Ramon (AKA “Bunny Wigglesworth” who was, shall we say, a bit flamboyant) The less said about that film, the better.
But the subject for this review was a forgotten gem from the 90s that aired on the cable network known as The Family Channel (I swear I saw it in the USA Network, but I couldn’t find any record in my research to prove this)
Tumblr media
The series, naturally, follows Don Diego (played by Duncan Regehr yet ANOTHER white guy!)
Tumblr media
…and his masked alter ego. (NOTE: Regehr was more muscular and fit than most previous actors in the role, meaning he could be a bit more physical. The character was also written as being a bit of a science buff)
Tumblr media
Don Diego lives with his father Don Alejandro (played by Efrem Zimbalist Jr (yep, also white), who voiced Alfred in Batman: the Animated Series, in season 1…
Tumblr media
…and Henry Darrow (FINALLY! A Latino actor, and one who actually played Zorro a few years earlier!) for the rest of the series)
Tumblr media
…as well as his family’s mute servant Felipe (played by Juan Diego Botto), who also pretends to be deaf and is the only one who knows Don Diego’s secret (it’s not like he can tell anyone)
Tumblr media
Don Diego’s love interest is Victoria Escalante (played by Patrice Martinez, who also played the love interest in The Three Amigos)
Tumblr media
Zorro fights the corrupt Alcalde (governor) of the territory around Los Angeles Luis Ramone (played by Michael Tylo...yep, another one)
Tumblr media
…but was replaced in season 3 by Ignacio de Soto (played by J.G. Hertzler (Seriously?!))
Tumblr media
The Alcalde’s chief aide (and leader of the garrison) is Sgt. Mendoza (played by James Victor, the ONE Latino on the bad guys' side), who is the comic relief (of course...) for the series (which explains why they can never stop Zorro)
The plots generally revolve around the Alcalde’s latest plot to stop Zorro by trapping him while performing some form of injustice against the people of Los Angeles, only to be foiled. Note that while the series is very by-the-numbers, the action sequences are well done and there are a number of well-known (or soon-to-be-well-known) actors (as well as, for some reason, a handful of World Wrestling Federation wrestlers) who have guest starred.
As always, if you would like to see an episode reviewed, please let me know!

What would the rest of the batfam look like with wings? Like Bruce Alfred and Cass, etc? Would Steph somehow have purple wings? (idk if there’s even any birds out there with purple wings lol)
Tumblr media
@reddkass tagging as well so you know I've answered your ask <3
aaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAA SORRY FOR LATE ANSWER! Been real busy and been bouncing between answering asks with or without doodles or not. Would love to draw them rn but Artfight GRRR
firstly! Yes!! Cass showing her support and love for her brother through physical affection is canon and I take no criticism/lh
She most definitely gives his wings little pats and also in Cass style, if she notices his distress or if something isn't sitting right, she's the first to comfort him with little wing touches even if Dick didn't realize how distressed he really is.
As for Wings AU Cass and Steph and ther rest of the batfam!! I've thought about it, but the only birds I could think of for Cass is a Secretary bird and for Steph would be a Violet-backed Starling? 🤔
Long rambling and images under cut!
Tumblr media
Secretary bird! Absolutely gorgeous but deadly as in has very powerful kicks and destroys snakes DHSDDSHJD They're pretty big too if I remembered correctly?
ALSO just now realizing smth, but ok at first I thought about Batman as this bird, Bat Hawk (haha) but like, this COULD also be Cass cause I think she can beat Batman in a fight? and Bat Hawk also eats bats...
AND JUST LOOK AT HOW COOL!!!
Tumblr media
And Violet-backed Starling! I hadn't got around to doing more research yet, but This is all I can think of for now! but there could be others that might fit her more since I did want to base off both from looks and vibes or how they function etc. BUT mostly want to just have fun designing wings later on :]
Tumblr media
AND as for Batman and Alfred. Let's get Batman first.
Batman, I've thought about him being Bat Hawk cause of the name and looks alone, but alas, I’ve also come right back to my first options being either Crows or Ravens! Not just cause of their looks alone, but also they’re very intelligent birds! And they communicate within their flock and Ravens are known to form mutual relationship where they work together with wolves. A special bond!
Tumblr media
Im leaning a little on the Raven tho for Batman/Bruce cause Ravens are known to do barrel rolls in the sky too! I think it’d be useful for evading aerial attacks c:
As for Alfred, his might come as a surprise?? idk, but I honestly feel Alfred vibes from Shoebill bird (says someone who’s never read a lot of comics WEEPPSS! I’LL DO IT SOME DAY I promies :c )
Tumblr media
Like! They’re very intimidating, but are like, super cool? They sometimes bow to people too from some stuff I’ve heard in videos, but they can be quite dangerous if want to. Overall the bird is pretty chill tho.
Another hting I could think of in a funny way are Penguins HDGSHJ cause in Japanese their name means Business Goose which is super funny and sweet.
Tumblr media
OR Alfred COULD be a Crow while Bruce is a Raven. (Ravens are larger and has a slight difference in how their tail looks from Crows :D)
Tumblr media
If any of you have a better idea I wouldn’t mind y’all sharing and comparing notes haha
EDIT: ALSO COMPLETELY FORGOT I COULD EVEN DO NON-BIRD WINGS. Batman could literaly just hve bat wings and that’d be POGGERS

Letters in Transition, 8 May 2022
A collaborative correspondence between @academicdisasterfic and I, inspired by our encounters with fic as queer, trans boys. Letters, words and art exchanged at the start of an unrestrained life.Previous entries can be found here. The fics mentioned in this letter are Edward Nashton Gets the Netflix Original High-school Romance He Deserves by scribbleshrimp, and Away Childish Things by lettered.
Dear Rooney,
I think a lot has changed in the world and with ourselves between our last two letters.
You’ve now moved! This blooming temperate ground that’s all I’ve ever known welcomes you and rejoices in your every new step.
I just came out to my parents. It happened a few hours ago. Out of the very limited number of people in my life, they were the last to know. I think this detail in particular caused my mother a lot of pain - why leave them out of this big thing in my life? Why exclude from this journey that which she sees as my true home: herself.
I knew it was going to happen today, and so I’ve been a swarm of bees about it all morning, or possibly my whole life. You know how it goes - in the face of a discerning mother, all arguments fall apart. And so I think I’ve made this effort to bulletproof the…explanation of my identity, in the fear that some well-meaning but nevertheless painful hand will begin to poke holes in it. In this home you talk about. In my home, in my body that extends beyond me because of my minds image, because of an excess of hope, because of the pocket dimension that our identity stretches into.
You call acts of horror on our community and on our extended being attacks on your home. This is exactly what it feels like. It’s also, I’ve realized, what the accompanying fear is like. When I was a child, my home got broken into, and a few months later, a small 9 year old joy stopped a second burglary from happening. It left me with a strange, lingering tension that follows me around, and I never noticed that it’s that same tension I associate with the urge to keep my transness, and by extension all transness, safe.
As I was saying, I knew it was going to happen, so I tried to promise myself that no matter what happens, I would somehow be okay. And you know what the only thing I could come up with was? I got a notification that a WIP I’m reading just updated, and I said to myself: whatever happens, you are still going to go home, and sit on the couch, and read that new chapter. God I know that our own strength and confidence should be enough, but I am always overjoyed by how many trans people reinforce their homes with other things. I am so glad I reinforce mine with stories.
The fic I was so eager to come home to is not in the HP fandom, it’s a Batman fic. It’s very lighthearted, but the author has a very special and illuminating way of describing various forms of discomfort, discontent with the self. One of the lines that’s stuck with me since I first read it a few days ago was “I’m not a good ghost: I don't inhabit myself entirely.” What a line! What an idea! And isn’t that just what this all is? The evaluations, the repackaging of yourself to fit into digestible and understandable definitions. As though you are a spirit being instructed to haunt only some corners of the house. Like you, I have always, even before I had the language to understand myself, hoped for this nebulous feeling of completely inhabiting something - a home, a discipline, a self. To be kept away from that is an act of forceful displacement.
Everything went well. It went better than expected. It went better than I could have hoped, because I didn’t dare to hope when I was smaller, and my hope was timid when I grew.
My mother’s only concern is for my safety, as our actual home is unsafe for people like us. It’s not fair, to have an asterisk on your joy and freedom that requires you to be quiet, to be - in the words of lettered’s draco - discreet. That part of her response was the only one that broke my heart.
But with each new act of coming out, with each new effort to be true to myself and to my dreams, the spell that keeps my spirit bound to only half my home unwinds.
Rooney, I want us to be good ghosts. I want to inhabit myself entirely.
You walk through an unfamiliar landscape, I return home to my couch.
Inside, our homes feel more real than before.
love
joy
