OKAY HEAR ME OUT, SONIC BOOM IS A PART OF THE SHATTERVERSE

I know this isn't possible because of the fact a version of sonic exists ruins the entire theory but PLEASE humor me anyways cause.. its a cool concept okay

First off, similarly to every other universe in the shatter verse, each character is stripped of a fundamental part of them/one aspect is exaggerated. which is very clearly shown in the boomverse.

Second, they all have different designs compared to their counterparts in the "real world"

Third, cross dimension teleporting has been seen and shown throughout the series

BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY: THEY HAVE A WHOLE LITERAL SHARD THERE??? IN SONIC BOOM, THE THING THAT POWERS THE CITY IS A LITERAL CRYSTAL THEY CALL THE "MEROKE CRYSTAL".

Its just WAAAY too similar. The fact they even have it hooked up and everything. (and the way these two pictures look so similar too is crazy.)

To make it even more believable, the shard/crystal LITERALLY LIGHTS UP ONCE IT HAS POWER.

Now okay I know I get it, the shard in sonic boom has infinite power, Rouge isn't in the boomverse, and Sonic logically cannot be there for the theory to work. But you do have to admit they look wicked similar and things have seemed to tie into and hint at boom being a lot more cannon as of recently. The talk of "the ancients" in sonic frontiers, Sticks being name dropped, and now the weirdly similar thing with this. Just food for thought I guess!

Bc on one hand maybe they’ll (‘they’ being SEGA and sonic team) finally listen to what most of the collective wants (like more open zone gameplay in the future, better physics/momentum, more variety for level design and level themes, etc.)

BUT ON THE OTHER HAND maybe they listen TOO much and it becomes a congested mess of different wants from the fans. And having so many ppl in your ear talking about what you did wrong or what you SHOULD do next time… it gets kinda annoying and takes the fun out of creating

AITA for telling off my sister about watching a kid's show?

I (15F) have an older sister, Penn (17F), who is kinda childish. Actually, she's really smart, and can be mature when she needs to be. It's just that her interests are kinda childish for someone her age.

Penn really likes cartoons and video games, and recently she's been getting into Sonic the Hedgehog. At first I thought she was just getting into the Snapcube fandubs, but out of nowhere I saw her watching one of the new Sonic TV shows, can't remember if it was Sonic Boom or Sonic Prime.

Anyways, at first, this didn't really bother me too much. She watched her show for the weekend, and I would get back to my shows for the next few weeks. But then the next weekend, she was still watching the show. When I asked Penn why, she said that she was really invested, and she hadn't actually finished the show yet. She said she was watching it in increments, because she wanted to savor the episodes, which felt stupid. The writing was obviously meant for kids, and the colors felt really bright and glaring to my eyes. I couldn't believe this was how she was unwinding, or how she could "savor" such a bad show. Plus, I prefer to watch as many episodes as possible in one go rather than in separate goes, but to each their own ig.

Next weekend comes, and guess what? Penn picks up the remote before I can get it, and says she's gonna keep watching some more. At this point, I'm pretty mad. I've been wanting to watch my shows all in one go during the weekends, but have been stuck watching one or two episodes at a time after school each day. So I snapped at her, saying, "Nooo, let's watch my things!"

Penn looked kinda hurt, and when she asked me why I said that in such an annoyed tone, I told her that the show she was watching was cringe and just plain bad. I also said that we never watched my shows anymore, only hers, and that she shouldn't be focusing on kids' media when she has college to focus on soon.

Penn got really mad at me for saying that, telling me that she just wanted to unwind now that the third quarter had ended for her school (our school years are divided into four quarters rather than 2 semesters), and that her homework load was lighter. She also said that she hardly ever uses the TV, and that I wouldn't die if she used it just once. She then left the living room in a huff and went up to her room. This was a day ago, and she hasn't spoken to me since then.

I feel like I was really a justified asshole in this. She's been hogging the TV with the Sonic show, instead of focusing on any of her advanced classes. I guess you guys can decide? It just feels like we're both getting older, and that she needs to stop focusing on such childish things. I think that if I help her get into media that's more aimed for older audiences, it'll help her get into more of a mature mindset.

Oh, by the Seven! Did he just see you, with that sad expression plastered on your face? He glanced sneakily at you, not wanting to be noticed. After all, he needs to maintain that strong reputation. He won't do anything when he sees you at first, since he isn't good at comforting people to begin with. But when he keeps on noticing that you aren't cheering up by the days and that the time you spend together slowly turns into him not seeing you at all, that is when he knocks at your door. He won't admit that he is worried as he sighs dramatically when he gives you a soft hug. You notice that this is his way of trying to comfort you, so you accept his hug. He ends up spending the rest of the day with you, where you can vent about whatever is making you feel down, or if you want, the two of you can just nap together.

That won't do. If he sees you looking down, he is right away coming to you. He will want to know what made you feel so down, and the Seven forbid it was anyone that made you feel like that because they won't be here to see another day. You want to talk about it? He will listen. You want him to comfort you? He will hug you and kiss your forehead until you feel better. You want space? He will question that one but will do as you say if that is what you need. Either way, Malleus really wants you to feel better, so he even asks Lilia if he knows how to help you cheer up. He will show up at Ramshackles with your favorite cake, flowers, and some movies for the two of you to watch together, and he won't stop until he sees your smile again.

Stop everything! He even dropped his book when he saw your text, telling him that you aren’t feeling well enough to meet him for your daily study session. He won’t allow this! Plans can’t be altered last second! He just wants to be with you. He wants to meet you so that you can explain what you mean by "Not feeling well enough," but Trey talks with him, stating that you are actually feeling down because of something that happened. Oh, he gets it now. He is kinda sad that you didn’t just come to him to talk about it. Do you not trust him enough? But he doesn’t think much of it as he sees you the next day. He approaches you carefully, telling you that you can talk with him about anything, as he won’t judge you. If you decide to tell him what is making you feel down, he will try to be understanding of you. If you don’t want to talk about it, he won’t pressure you. Either way, he will ask you to join him to drink some tea, and he brings some hedgehogs since he knows how much you love them.

surprised but has gotten used to it whenever he sees you gushing about something cute you saw the other day or even just a cute bird you saw when walking too ramshackle. he doesn't really understand it, especially when you find yourself getting emotional over it—! he gives you wide eyes unsure of what to do. the first time he caught that he thought there was something actually wrong, so he panicked, and you were just like “there was this cute fish… i saw through the window at the mostro lounge…” im sorry but he laughed… but hey he did try to cheer you up… after that.

but when you came up to him teary?! grabbing his face and telling him how cute he is he gets all wide eyed and surprised as he stares at you before laughing and pulling away rather quickly with his cheeks all flushed. ace makes some painful attempt at joking and laughing off, acting all confused as you are why you’re suddenly doing this— you usually do this to cute pets or cute items not him!

sometimes whenever you take pictures on your ghost camera of him and show him, simply rambling and talking all about how cute he looks. (he claims he's not cute he's cool!!) but he can't deny the fact that he is totally sucking up and loving the positive attention from you.

he fluctuates between saying its cute as well or laughing at you because he finds your reaction cute and silly. most likely a mixture of the two. your fascination with cute animals and especial sea creatures as you're practically begging him to take you down to the coral sea so he can show you them all, he was the one to playfully propose that idea anyway.

he gets such an ego boost whenever you go on about how cute you think he is, he finds himself wearing and doing things more to get that reaction out of you. like though jade or especially azul chastise him about being more dressed formally when working at the mostro lounge— he told them that he kept the bedhead because you told him it looked cute on him, so he had to keep it obviously. he also comes up to you all the time and shows you something like ‘eel socks’ he bought and showed you because he knew you’d find them cute.

floyd can get a little bitter without shame when your attention and practically cooing over something or someone else. he’ll do anything to turn your direction back on him. which he finds to be quite easy because its usually something like giving you some cute charms or keychains he found at some shop and got it for you, that tends to do the trick hehe.

trey clover

he gets all bashful and surprised whenever you come up to him and hold his face in your hands telling him how cute you find him. he’s never really been one to think of himself as ‘cute’ if you will, that's more of someone like cater's thing. yet he is flattered nevertheless when you go on and on telling him what you find most endearing about him.

trey likes to ask you for advice for decorating treats and cakes as you always seem to get excited over choosing and telling him how to make it as cute and pretty as possible. and though it's not always his style, he does admit that you have a good eye for aesthetics.

does get a little concerned when you tend to become emotional about it as he feels like something is genuinely wrong with you and wants to figure out the issue— when it turns out it was just because riddle allowed you to hold heartslabyul's hedgehogs and you started bawling because they were too cute and small. poor treys heart, he was stressing out when he found you brought to tears…!

So, Sonic Forces! … again. Posts like this will be put under Forces!RW from now on, just so I can keep things together.

Following this post, I’ve been thinking about my reimagined Sonic Forces a lot. It’s high up on my list of things to rewrite, but… that list is quite long and is made up of stories that, for the most part, will live exclusively in my head. However, I had so much fun making my last post that I wanted to make another.

I wanted to touch on an aspect of the Phantom Ruby: how it’s able to make hordes of copies at Infinite’s will.

In my mind, the Phantom Ruby makes clones with the same attributes as any other illusion. Those made to witness the illusion will be unable to control feeling, despite reason, what they are witnessing is real. This enhances the Phantom Ruby’s powers, making its illusions able to affect the world as if they were real.

However, copies are different as they can perform most of the abilities their source can, but only if Infinite has a solid grasp on what those abilities are. For example, Chaos remains in his base state because Infinite does not understand his evolution, but he does understand chaos energy and chaos manifestation, so Shadow’s copies is able to harness Chaos Spear (though its nowhere on the scale of a true Chaos Spear. It gathers available chaos energy and turns it into a weapon, but without an emerald the copy has to draw upon the natural chaos energy around it). This is also one of the reasons Zavok is so… lame, for lack of a better word, and why Infinite resigns his copy to being Sonic’s jail keeper.

Why, then, would Eggman have Infinite stop at making copies of Zavok, Chaos, and Shadow? Of course, it’s because he finds them worthy allies as they have all put Sonic in close life or death situations and all have beaten Eggman himself at least once. If they worked together, they would undoubtedly be able to take Sonic out without the need for more manpower.

But… why not copy Sonic himself after his capture? Eggman chooses to copy Metal Sonic so, with Sonic himself imprisoned, having Sonic’s speed and agility on Eggman’s side would be a valuable resource.

Eggman told Infinite they should make copies of Sonic to torment the world they were conquering. Having their precious hero, or at least his likeness, working with Eggman would destroy their moral… Infinite proposed, instead, not only was it too soon to show their cards in Infinite’s full abilities, but that tormenting the world with their hero acting against them would be nothing compared to the psychological play of allowing the world to believe Infinite, a hand in the Eggman Empire, had taken him out for good. Letting a likeness of their hero wander around could work against them, influencing people to gain a “hope against all odds” approach.

While Eggman agreed, it wasn’t until after he had Infinite show him the Ruby could, in fact, make a copy of Sonic. Despite not wanting to, having the copy ended up working in Infinite’s favor. After commenting on the pest Sonic was, the Doctor agreed that, yes, looking at that hedgehog for too long was giving him a migraine; he didn’t want to imagine what having hundreds of him would do… Good. Because Infinite thought Sonic was too annoying to waste his power forging copies of him, anyway.

Infinite looked at the copy. He could appreciate the hedgehog’s indomitable spirit and his ability to ruin things. He could even acknowledge that, yes, he was enough to be the world’s hero.

Until now.

Five, closing in on six months after Sonic’s defeat, Tails found himself miles from his live-in workshop, the last one left after Eggman’s takeover. He managed to gather supplies before his home was invaded and made it out by his scruff on the Tornado, but she hadn’t gotten them out without taking severe damage. Still, she flew, and she landed, and Tails could start repairing her to the best of his ability. He didn’t need a plane since the sky had been put under lockdown, but the Tornado was Sonic’s. He’d hate for Sonic to find out he had wrecked the Tornado and done nothing to fix it.

While sorting out the damaged parts, Tails heard something scuff behind him… He tensed before he moved, much too caught up with the Tornado to remember he should defend himself first, worry later, when his eyes caught the source of the sound.

Impossible.

Tails didn’t think it was possible, but he tensed more at the sight of his brother, his big brother, the sight of Sonic walking idly past him. Something slipped past Tails’ lips, maybe it was supposed to be words, but he didn’t know which ones. His big brother stopped. And turned towards him…

Gotta cut myself off from my more story-writer way of telling this before I get carried away. Apologies! But, if I’m able to work on this more, maybe there will be a full scene in a full chapter in a full story for this? Perchance…

Shadow would appear and, before Tails could process it, would be fighting the copy down the street. Shadow’s been dealing with Phantom copies since day one of Eggman’s invasion, and he knows Sonic well enough to be able to spot a fake from anywhere.

Tails would, of course, chase after them, leaving behind the Tornado and all of his supplies. As far as he knows, it was Shadow who helped take Sonic down in the first place and he’s ready for answers as to why, and answers on how Sonic got back, and why they’re fighting again, and…! Well, a lot of answers!

By the time Tails gets there, Shadow would have already taken the copy down; it’s on the floor, lifeless, and starting to disappear. Tails would launch himself at Shadow, claws and teeth bared, kicking and scratching out of everything he’s thought and felt about Shadow for the last five months, but Shadow would easily subdue him. Tails is tired, and hungry, and most of all he’s devastated.

Once Tails is able to hear anything Shadow tries to tell him, he would tell Tails about the fact Eggman is generating copies. Shadow has a certain soft spot for Tails, especially in his current situation, so while the scene would be to get information about the Phantom Ruby to Tails, it would also serve to give him the comfort he needs, and closure that no, Shadow didn’t hurt Sonic and, no he’s also not looking for him but, if he hears anything, he’ll let the kid know.

I don’t know if I’ve said it, but I’ve got a biiiiig list of media I’ve rewritten entirely in my head for fun and that usually means I have the most barebones chapter layout for them and even some ‘first drafts’ for certain chapters; like this hypothetical chapter!

That’s it, really. I had fun talking about Forces and showing how I would do things! I tend to get carried away a lot when I’m writing about the things I like. I really didn’t plan to write this post out the way I did. Hopefully the difference between my presenting the concepts and writing them out for a more entertaining read of what I would do wasn’t too confusing.

Fem! Reader

It takes a few seconds for Riddle to process what exactly you're doing, but once he does? He prickles up just like those hedgehogs he's so fond of, face flushing red all the way up to the tips of his ears as he tries and fails to stammer out... Something. Anything. A scolding, perhaps? A demand of an explanation? Anything to hide just how thoroughly you've flustered him.

Part of him considers the act incredibly demeaning. Something you would do to placate a small child, you're instead using on him? Do you even take him seriously? But he can't find it in his heart to demand you to stop, because the rest of him (the "never got positive reinforcement from a parental figure" part of him) actually adores the feeling of being coddled and praised by you, as hard as it is for him to admit.

It's a very subtle change, but you may start to notice him going out of his way to show you his accomplishments more often. Whether that's a perfect assignment grade or an Unbirthday party going off without a single hitch, he'll subconsciously start to seek out your praise and approval more often.

The first time you do it Leona is lying his head in your lap, just about to doze off when he feels your fingers massaging his scalp. He's not even certain if it's real or a dream at first, the gentle touch of your fingers against his ears, the soft, mindless melody you hum to him to lull him to slumber. Whatever it is you're doing, it works, because Leona sleeps like an absolute boulder with his head resting on your lap.

Normally Leona would have no qualms in making demands of you, especially if they help him to sleep. This though... This almost feels a bit too vulnerable, too intimate for him to demand of you. He'll make a point to rest his head in your lap more often, but he's not brave enough to actually ask you to pet him.

If you bring it up first though, he's certainly not going to tell you to stop. Actually, that's the absolute last thing he wants.

"This doesn't bother you? When I play with your ears? I can stop if you want." "...Nah. Keep doin' it. Don't worry bout me, you'll know if you do something I don't like anyway."

Azul is in the middle of going over his plans for the next Lounge event with you when you reach over and pat him square on the top of the head, and he immediately malfunctions. He stops in the middle of a word, droning out a single syllable as you watch his face get redder in real time until he processes what just happened and frantically excuses himself.

You've completely destroyed his train of thought. How is he even supposed to face you now? Were you merely teasing him, or was your affection genuine? Even though the two of you are dating Azul still has some trouble discerning between the two. He doesn't sleep well that night, mind racing with thoughts and questions and "what if's".

When you apologize the next morning for making him uncomfortable he's quick to brush it off, to assure you that you've done nothing wrong. To be honest, he did quite enjoy it, even if he wasn't mentally prepared. You're welcome to give him headpats from time to time, so long as no one else is around at least. He does have a reputation to uphold, after all.

One of only two boys on this list who is willing to openly ask for headpats from you! The first time you patted Kalim on the head he thought he was going to ascend to heaven, you were just too cute! He let out an audible whine as soon as you pulled away, and quickly made it his mission to earn as many headpats as possible from you.

Jamil is torn on the prospect. Because on one hand, your headpats motivate Kalim to get his homework done quickly and on time for a change. On the other, he definitely cooks up a lot more troublesome schemes with the final end goal being nothing more than a pat on the head from you as a reward. You've got to drill it into his head that he doesn't need to throw you a party just to get a pat, that you'll gladly do it anytime.

He gets the biggest, dopiest smile whenever you pat him, leaning into your hand like a content cat. Everything else just seems to melt away when you play with Kalim's hair. He'll sllump into your shoulder with a big, cozy sigh and let himself float away at your gentle touch alone.

To be completely honest, Vil's first instinct when you reached up to touch his head was to slap your hand away. Even if you were his girlfriend, he did just finish styling his hair and couldn't have it looking unpresentable. Luckily you were able to give him a soft little pat before instinct kicked in, and for once Vil found himself wordless at the unexpectedly heart-squeezing gesture.

Vil doesn't actively seek out your pats, nor does he request them outright. No, that would be terribly embarrassing, far too vulnerable for someone such as himself. But he isn't above asking you to massage his temples for him when he's feeling stressed. He enjoys being away from the public eye for a moment, letting his head rest in your lap as your carefully cradle him in your hands.

Vil doesn't make an active effort to mimic your affections, but the gesture seems to rub off on him. You're in a much easier position to receive headpats than give them given how short you are, and you always give him the most delighted, moony-eyed gaze in response. You're a very fortunate little potato, you know? He would never give out his headpats to just anyone, after all.

Idia is so jumpy that it's hard to even reach for something near him without him flinching away in response. Your best bet at giving him some headpats is when he's in the middle of a game, especially a rhythm one. He won't even realized you've braided his flaming locks for him until he's finished the song he's on, and once he does you'll get to see that entire braid go a delightful shade of pink.

He'll stammer and stutter, doing his best to playfully admonish you for doing something so cheesy. "Wh-What is this, anyway? Some sort of otome event CG? So cringe!" But please don't take him seriously, because if you ever stopped Idia thinks he might just die. The bravado and teasing is just a defense mechanism, he doesn't actually want the headpats to stop.

Hes definitely at his most vulnerable when he's gaming, but it's pretty easy to give him headpats when he's tired too! He's the king of caffeine and staying up way too late on projects, but a few fingers carding carefully through his flaming hair is a great way to get his mind off of his programming and heading straight towards dreamland. He'd never be brave enough to admit it himself, but he loves to fall asleep to the feeling of you playing with his hair.

Malleus is the only other boy on this list who is willing to openly ask for headpats from you once you start giving them to him. And can you blame him? Most people aren't even willing to get too close to him, but here you come along with your praises and your soft laughter and your gentle hands brushing his silky hair. He can't get enough.

He'll go out of his way to plan you little surprises and bring you little gifts with nothing more than a headpat in mind as a reward. He's almost like a crow, the way he spoils you with shiny little trinkets. You'll notice that after you thank him for something he'll being to subtly lean down slightly, just enough to put the top of his head within your reach. He'll pout until you give him his reward.

You are the only person allowed to touch Malleus's horns in the way that you do. He'll tolerate maids or staff doing his hair or adorning his horns with jewelry for an event. But you're the only one who gets to run your fingers up and down the ridged onyx surfaces, mapping the bumps and grooves and digits with careful fingers. A dragon's horns are their pride and joy after all, so it makes sense that he should only allow his mate to touch them in such a manner.

Not sure how much meat this question has to it but if back in 2006 you were the one that spearheaded the shadow the hedgehog game, how would you have done it?

i'd want ShTH 2005 to keep the same core energy its final form ended up with, but tbh there's a lot i would have done differently lol. here's my 3 step plan for how i would have directed it previously/would direct any sort of reboot or remaster

1. TIMELOOP!!!!!!

i'm not the first person to come up with this idea and i won't be the last to talk about it, but the gist of this point is that ShTH's story makes WAY more sense when you treat it like a timeloop. you finished a story path and end up back in westopolis? great job, you're at the beginning of the timeloop again. it's a smart way to make this wack story a little more cohesive.

i would LOVE to further utilize the timeloop concept for this game because it could be a very simple addition to add flavor OR it be the core of the game's story and gameplay. small things like shadow going "hey wait, have i seen this before?" when he's going through westopolis for the third time can hint at the narrative, and once shadow realizes he's in a loop he's motivated to find EVERY path in search of the full truth. every new story path could be treated as a new game+ as shadow starts to consistently remember more from previous timeloops, carrying over certain weapons, abilities, and memories from his previous experiences.

one really cool idea i saw a while ago on here (edit: FOUND IT! i'm talking about this post) is someone's ShTH timeloop pitch where after a few resets, silver starts to show up and tells shadow to stop messing with the timeline. this continues, and eventually silver becomes a final boss of some of the paths. this idea has never left my mind since i saw it and i need to find the person that came up with it they mean so much to me

i have more timeloop thoughts but i will move on for now

2. simplify or rework the morality system and levels

this is my big gameplay critique - there is A Lot to do in ShTH and very little of it is consistently fun. i have grievances with the morality system i talked about a while ago, the gist of my opinion boiling down to "the system removes agency from shadow and the story doesn't fit within the morals you choose anyway." i'd either MASSIVELY rework the morality system to make it feel worthwhile or just throw the whole thing away. unfortunately i don't have many pitches for what to replace it with since i haven't played that many games with branching stories - maybe the story paths you go down are based on BIG story decisions shadow makes during boss battles or in cutscenes (?) like choosing which boss to fight, which characters to save, what moves or weapons to use, stuff like that. i just want the stuff that leads to branching stories to be more impactful and a little simpler.

this also applies to the levels, of which there are... a lot. and maybe there should be less? i think it would be smart to cut down or combine some of the levels, then really flesh out the ones that matter. and given the non-linear nature of ShTH, i think a version with levels more focused on exploration and combat would fit the game better than the linear mission-based gameplay of the original.

3. MORE GUN

listen man. they advertised this as the sonic game with guns and in my opinion i think they could've done better. i mostly just want a more fleshed out weapons system with upgrades, a little customization, better controls, etc. just put the merchant from resident evil 4 in there and have him accept rings and i would be happy

Maybe it’s an odd time to bring it up, but it is Valentine’s Day. Sonamy and Sonally have been one of the biggest ship wars in the franchise. Thankfully, it doesn’t seem to be as much of a thing as it used to be, but there is still occasional bashing or something. After some deep thought, I think I came up with an answer to make both sides happy.

It has nothing to do with Amy or Sally. It depends on the VERSION of Sonic.

When you think about it, Archie/SatAM Sonic and Mainline Sonic are actually pretty different. With SatAM and Archie, Sonic was born in a monarchy and had a steady home, even when fighting in a war. He’s used to being in one place. He also fought Robonik/Eggman because he had to, freeing the planet and restoring the kingdom. As for the games and IDW, Sonic travels the world and fights Eggman because he wants to, not because he has to. It may not seem like much, but they are key factors. These different lifestyles show more of who would be a better partner for him. Sally has responsibilities as a princess and leader. Even if Eggman is defeated for good, she will still be bound to these duties. Amy, on the other hand, is more adventurous and loves trying new things. She may settle down at times, but she still loves to travel. Both girls are compassionate and ready to help others and can even take the lead when they have to, but go about it in different ways. Sonally is a case of opposites attract and Sonamy is more kindred spirits.

While Sonic and Sally clash at times over how to plan, they work together to pull them off. They are more at ease when they don’t have to be on missions, and more overt about dating. They are also childhood friends in these continuities, knowing each other longer than their other friends. This led to their feelings becoming stronger over time. Sally has grown more into being on the battlefield, but usually works more behind the scenes or deals with the more technical or planning while Sonic takes most of the action.

Sonic and Amy both love adventure and sometimes act before they think. They also go out of their way to help others without a second thought. Amy may be a big romantic, but her relationship with Sonic nowadays is more on the subtle side and no less important and sweet. She used to chase after Sonic, but wasn’t so blinded to put her own desires ahead of others. Amy is also one of the first people Sonic met in his fights against Eggman. Amy also trained herself to be stronger to stand by Sonic’s side so she could protect him like how he protects her.

I do want to talk about the X Years Later/Light Mobius arcs in Archie. In that timeline, Sonic and Sally are married and rule as king and queen. While at times he’s not always happy with being king, he loves Sally enough to accept it. He was even willing to be her royal consort until they could be wed in Archie issue #124 (which is probably the most out of character moment compared to his game counterpart ever). And while we never see Amy in those arcs, Ian Flynn has said a few times on the Bumblekast he thinks Amy would be traveling around with the Time Stones. I thought that was a cool idea, and that feels more like the kind of life the mainline Sonic would want to have.

I kind of feel obliged to bring up Elise. Most people may not like it, and I prefer them as friends, but she was also written as a love interest. Anyway, in one scene Elise asks Sonic if he’ll leave after Dr. Eggman and his plans for Soleanna are stopped, which the hedgehog confirms. Despite what feelings he may have for Elise, he’s not going to give up his lifestyle just to be with her. And I do not mean to make it sound mean, it’s just who he is. A free spirit, free as the wind. And in Sonic and the Black Knight, he is revealed to be the true King Arthur, but he doesn’t accept it. He’s uncomfortable with how the other knights bow to him. I find it hard to believe this Sonic would want that kind of life for anyone, even if Sally was part of the main continuity. She wouldn't give up her duties for him either. A steady relationship or royal lifestyle just isn’t for Sonic’s game counterpart. In issue #2 of IDW, Amy knows Sonic can't be held down and respects his decisions. She loves Sonic for who he is and doesn’t want to change him. Instead, she’s fine with just going on adventures with him. Living in the moment. It’s not the life she initially wanted with him, but it’s enough for now. It does feel like they have become closer after Forces. The game was far from the best, but the premise of spending six month apart is a good way to build something up for them.

The reboot in Archie kind of proves this point about the relationships as well, albeit unintentionally. While the main reason is the new mandates were that game characters could not date, Sonic and Amy felt a lot closer than before. Sonic and Sally were also confirmed to only have a platonic relationship in the new timeline. This is due to Sonic’s past now being closer to his game counterpart rather than SatAM. He’s still part of the Freedom Fighters, but still has his world traveling roots. For example, he came to Mobotropolis after Eggman took over instead of living in the city at the time.

Sonamy and Sonally are both valid ships and deserve support. But don’t hate on the other when it’s the version of Sonic that truly matters for deciding who is the better match for him.

Omg please share all your thoughts about that boom cut scene, I’d love to hear your interpretation of expressions/body language as we don’t really get a chance to see that in fandom spaces.

Finally got around to answer this. I found my past analysis on this cutscene and made a little slow-mo video about the expressions/body movements.

We honestly don’t know the lore of boom!Shadow and just think that he just exists there with no explanation. But with some analysis of Sonic and Shadow’s interactions, we can clearly tell that SOMETHING had to happen between them before the show + games occurred. In between all the bickering and fighting, there seems to be this un-mentioned past with them. In the show, Sonic had no beef with Shadow when Eggman asked about him. Even when Team Sonic fought them “weeks ago.” Sonic even said that Shadow would be a good addition to the team in Shattered Crystal. It just seems like Shadow was the one to fall harder from their “break up.” He talks about loyalty like it’s a bad thing. Especially when it’s with Sonic’s friends. Jealous much? Or ironic? It’s almost like Shadow is self-projecting his past with Sonic. He considers friends and loyalty as a weakness. Shadow probably considered himself weak after whatever happened between him and Sonic. He even asks Sonic, “And you know what makes you weak?”

And I just want to point out boom!Shadow’s childish bickering cause it’s one of the things that stands out from Shadow’s other variants. Calling Sonic, “Slow-poke” and “Blue-boy” instead of “faker” or “hedgehog.�� The half-assed panther insult? The “all-hedgehog kind” and “fox hunting” line? “You’re more annoying than usual” from Shattered Crystal? Like this man is trying so hard to be threatening. And when he’s not trying to be and not fighting, he’s so awkward. I think that’s what makes me like boom!shadow and consider him an interesting variant. I know Boom in general has been long gone dead, but I would love for it to come back. It has so much untapped potential. Anyways, here’s that analyzed video of the cutscene that makes me feel so normal.

I was thinking about how Super Sonic is a palette invert on his pupils and fur retaining skin, sclera and clothing. Today I have had to spend three boring hours at work waiting for something to render. So it's amateur hour with my tablet!

the blue is kinda cool on super shadow. Also, his chest fluff should be changing colour, unless it's actually fake...

I also made his fur spikier, since supersonic gets a bit of a back comb

hahahaha looks like hot chocolate! Normal the Hedgehog, except he's been electrocuted. I might redo this to make him more like dark red, bc he can be seen as very light cyan, which is sorta near opposite to red. Inverting the black sides of his eye did not work, definitely needs a bit of work!

Amy’s Eye Color

Since I couldn’t get this off my mind I’ve decided to dive deep into the abyss of character design. I’ll mostly add on to what I said in my tags in the, “What Eye Color Looks Good On Amy Rose,” voting post and elaborate.

Short History

Amy’s eye color from the start of her redesign in Sonic Adventure has always been the same as Sonic’s. A warm green that use to be apart of Amy’s classic dress. Which is a nice detail in my opinion. The pink hedgehog’s eyes has been somewhat consistent with Sonic’s from official art, 3D models, to the comics.

It almost always been that way aside from Sonic X. Where her eyes are on the cooler side then Sonic’s. Jade or Emerald to be specific. Her eyes are closer to the color of jewelry. While Sonic has a warmer grassier colored green. I like jade or emerald on Amy’s eyes as well, but I want to keep the topic consistent and less complicated then it already is.

Anyways, I think the minor inconsistencies was done for artistic vision or whenever the lighting would change in the comics. To be honest I’ve noticed color inconsistencies all the time when it comes to Sonic characters. Which isn’t a bad thing. It just shows how much variety you can have when it comes to these characters.

My Thoughts On Amy’s Eye Color

I don’t mind Amy’s eyes being the same as Sonic’s. It doesn’t look bad on her and is one of the reasons her design is as iconic as it is. Especially since it’s been a part of her for so long.

But let’s get into why I personally prefer teal.

I’m no color theory expert, but I’ll do my best. Also, not every Sonic character or cartoon character period, follows these rules. Just a good majority of them do.

Sonic: Blue is a primary color and green is a secondary color. Because green complements blue Sonic’s eyes stands out. Not to mention they symbolize his energy and love for nature.

Blaze: Purple is a secondary color and gold is a primary color. Her purple fur works amazingly with her harsh gold eyes. Symbolizing her fire powers. Also I’ve noticed a few artist add a bit of a reddish orange to her and Silvers eyes and I think they look lovely.

Amy: She’s a bit complicated. Since her red dress takes up most of her design I’ll use it as Amy’s primary color. I believe teal would be a better secondary color for Amy because it stands out a bit better and is less harsh then green. It gives Amy a softer look too.

Teal and pink is also a wonderful combination in general because they balance each other out. With pink’s warmth and energy going with the teal’s calm and coolness. Giving off a more enchanted and mystical feeling to Amy’s eyes. It perfectly compliments her personality too because she’s an energetic character with a soft and sweet nature.

Here are some characters with similar color tones:

They’re not all similar characteristically, but what most of them have in common is they’re kind natured and they’ll protect the people they care about. Just like a certain pink hedgehog.

The main reason I prefer Amy’s eyes to be teal is due to a lot of amazing fan-artist. I won’t give out names, (because there’s a bunch of them) but they are so brilliant and I appreciate what they bring to the Sonic feast of wonderful art.

I’ve seen it so much to the point when I think “Amy Rose,” I see her with teal eyes. I know it’s silly, but that’s genuinely what I feel works for her. Besides I enjoy talking about weird topics like these. It keeps the mind turning, you know.

I appreciate the official artist and 3D models as well. Even if Amy’s eyes are barely ever teal, she still looks wonderful without them because of those talented people.

Conclusion

Will Amy’s eyes ever be teal? Probably not. Does any of this matter? No.

Teal eyes or not Amy Rose is a wonderful Sonic character. I hope you had fun with me on exploring this wild world of colors and character design.
