Going to start with putting out my sketches by showing off my interpretation from Blondeaxolotl 's red butler/ swap AU!

Once they announced that Maurice and Ches were swapped, I had some fun thinking of some potential designs for them before they released their actual designs!

Once the Axolotl put out their actual designs, I realised that mine were absolutely no match for them. I was a bit shy of posting these sketches because of that. BUT WE'RE BEING BRAVE TODAY!

Bonus: my designs and Axolotls designs would would have some neat interactions.

I literally love @blondeaxolotl ‘s red butler au so here’s my interpretation for how details from the jack the ripper arc would play out

- grell plays the role of a female butler to keep her gender presentation the same, so she isn’t trans in this au. her gender is the same as og sebastian’s (can be anything and nothing all at once) except she just chose a female body as her human form.

- her demon form is a bunch of blood-red sludge instead of black

- vincent gets married to angelina

- rachel and sebastian are the identity of jack the ripper. the ages of rachel and angelina are swapped. angelina’s og backstory is now rachel’s backstory and rachel has black hair instead of blonde. let’s call her “madam noir” cuz it sounds cool.

- she’s also in traditional victorian mourning attire all the time

- sebastian is a trans man.

- sebastian doesn’t actually have a first name (because i don’t wanna give him a deadname since grell doesn’t have one). rachel just calls him “ms. michaelis” while he’s disguised as a butler, and he introduces himself as sebastian during the jack the ripper fight

- sebastian and grell’s personalities are completely swapped, so sebastian’s the dramatic one.

- sebastian wears his stilettos everywhere and grell’s heels are flat

- just because he’s a guy doesn’t mean he can’t be ✨fabulous✨

- while disguised as a butler, he and grell are the same height

- sebastian steal rachel’s shawl when he kills her and wears it as a a scarf maybe? eh?

- sebastian’s motivations for teaming up with madam noir are just that he likes murder lol. and maybe he talks about how rachel’s soul is a dark as her hair or something.

Izuku (with AFO) had a twin that died when they were 11 and he took his quirk and identity because Mikumo "had a bright future" while "Quikless" Izuku didin't?

Mikumo and Izuku were identical twins, but grew up a little differently - Mikumo was taller and broader, while Izuku was slimmer and shorter. Mikumo was abrasive, confident and snarky: his analysis quirk was interesting and useful for a hero. Izuku was none of that because, as someone without a quirk, he was plain useless.

They had a strained relationship, Mikumo didn't want Izuku in heroics, didn't really want to be a hero himself either. He hated anyone cruel to him though, because that was his brother. Aldera had them in different classes, claiming it was policy to separate siblings when really they wanted Mikumo not to see the bullying.

They were both kidnapped on the way home from school, the traffickers were looking for the quirkless boy in the area and, knowing he had a twin, just took both of them. Quirkless kids can go for a high price for buyers who dont want them fighting back. They were there for months. It was cold, there was no food and their injuries were infected. One day, Mikumo didn't wake up. Izuku was all alone. Izuku, quirkless, small and meek, couldn't make it alone.

So he couldn't be Izuku.

He took Mikumo's identity to cope, but when they found him, when he heard the police say his mother would be so pleased he was back, that it was horrible but only natural his brother didn't make it, he knew that quirkless little Izuku would never have been forgiven for surviving.

He says he wants to go into heroics to save people like his brother. He's not lying.

He tossed the remote to the other side of the bed defeatedly. Flipping through the few channel options on the hotel tv could only entertain him for so long. Looking over at the clock the red number taunted him showing 4am. Being up for the last almost 36 hours would tire out most people but his body wouldn’t let go of consciousness. The jet lag certainly wasn’t helping either. His thoughts flickered to her. Doing the math in his head; she’d only be at 10pm in New York with Paris being six hours ahead. She should be home from work now. Finished with dinner.

He reached for his phone, quickly finding her in his contacts, before pressing it to his ear. The line crackled before it began to ring. His fingers mindlessly played with the string from the waistband of his sweats as he waited for her to pick up.

“Hello?” 

Her voice sounded small and distant through the line and he hated it.

“Y/N, hi,” he rasped.

“Hi.”

A bit of rustling sounded on the other end as she sat up from the couch she was more than likely dosing off on.

“You sound tired,” he said, suddenly feeling guilty, “I should let you sleep.”

“No, no it’s fine,” she assured him, “I think I’m more bored than tired.”

He knew she was lying. She’d fallen asleep on that couch so many times when he’s home with her. Never being able to finish a whole movie without hearing her soft snores as she slept. 

He was a little jealous if he was being honest with himself. He was never one of those people that could just pass out as soon as they close their eyes. Even more so if it wasn’t his own bed. 

“Have you slept at all since you left?”

He sighed, “no.”

“Aus,” she said sympathetically. 

He ran a hand over his face. 

“Is there anything I can do to help?”

He hummed, “tell me about your day.”

And she did. From her drive to work to how much the phone rang, how her boss had gotten on her nerves, what she got for lunch, how her feet hurt from her new heels she bought the other day, her drive home, how she had to go back out to get chicken for dinner from the grocery store that she forgot to get yesterday. Every detail she rambled on about, but he didn’t mind. It made him feel less alone. Less like he was on the other side of the world.

“Hey, Austin?”

“Hm?”

“I’m gonna set you down for a sec, I gotta pee.”

He chuckled, “m'kay.”

He heard the clank of her setting the phone down, and he pulled his phone away from him for a minute checking the time. 4:30. At least the time was moving a little faster now. 

Putting the phone on speaker, he checked a few emails while he waited when his phone chimed, with her name coming across the banner with a new text.

Leave it to her to text the person she’s currently chatting with.

Clicking on the banner, his phone swapped apps to the text. 

But it wasn’t a text.

His heart rate rose as his eyes took in the photo.

Death Mark AU: Protagonist!Swap Saya Kujou

I managed to get it done on her birthday! Everyone, say hello to the hero of our Protag!Swap AU: Saya Kujou!

Why yes, that is her brother’s coat she’s wearing. But she doesn’t know that by the time the amnesia takes hold of her. All she knows that she woke up with this coat wrapped around her and for some reason, she refuses to be separated from it.

And yes, Masamune did give her that coat during his last moments of being fully in-control.

Saya Kujou is a character I feel like a lot of fans could interpret in their own way since she was, ya know, dead when we first meet her and all we got for her characterization was from her being a voice in her brother’s head in the main game. So, she was dead and loves her brother; time for the Dark One to get her hands dirty.

In my previous post I had mentioned a little bit of Saya, how she was initially the one who was accidentally the one responsible for her brother’s possession since she was the one who damaged Mary’s doll body. It was here that things changed; Saya was originally Marked by Hanahiko, like in canon, but she found out just how fast the amnesia was affecting Masamune. So, with her own death close, Saya attacked Mary.

“If I go down, I’ll take you with me!”

Cue Butterfly Effect; Mary get’s so pissed off that not only does she possess Masamune when he manages to make it to the Kujou Manor, but she takes over the Mark on Saya so she essentially becomes HER victim.

Well, now the backstory is out of the way, time to get into a bit of Saya’s character within the story; she’s been portrayed as the more outgoing of the two siblings in canon, being the face for the Kujou family despite her brother being the Head at the time. With that in mind, I like to think she’s very motherly while also having the ability to kick your butt. Like I picture all the younger Mark Bearers just flocking after her like ducklings — yes, even Shou and Tsukasa even if they don’t want to admit. She’s like that fun teacher you have that tries to make lessons interesting while also being brutally honest about things.

Due to her more blunt nature and her not having memories of being a Spirit Healer, I imagine Saya to be viewed as reckless and too outgoing amongst the adults. She’s a woman who marches to the beat of her own drum, especially when she’s not putting on a polite facade at conferences. This particular character trait came about when I remember that, as the black rabbit, she literally took the FLIPPING NENJINBUTSU out of the shrine before it was fully cleansed and kept it with her when she went to fight Mary!

…Suffice to say, Saya would definitely be the person to do something random or possibly life threatening just to see if it works. She often gives her adult companions heart attacks.

For some reason, I actually view Saya and Mashita as not getting along with the other. But not like hate each other, just two people who don’t get along but are forced to work together and are slowly coming to respecting each other. Don’t ask me how I came to that conclusion cause I don’t know how I got to that point either. I think I just found it hilarious that Saya would think Mashita is a degenerate only to realize that her brother like-likes him! 🤣

Speaking of her brother, let’s talk about Saya and the possessed Masamune! During the beginning, Saya was told that Masamune was her family butler and she believed. While her memories of her brother may be gone, her heart still knows him so while it does lead to her getting manipulated by Mary, Saya easily trusts Masamune and has come to rely on him for information on spirits.

But as the Chapters go on and each of the Mark Bearers tell her their tale of Masamune’s strange behavior, Saya starts to get suspicious. She still wants to trust him but even she realizes that something is wrong with him; how he appears to be light-headed, seems to be nauseated all the time, not to mention that one time he grabbed her arm and how his eyes seemed to flash with… Something.

With that, I think I’ll leave things here for now. I’ll probably do more doodles on a future date. Until then, enjoy this picture of Saya and Masamune.

SNJ's Summer Fic Reading Masterlist

Hey there. It might be too late and literally putting this on the day that it is due, but I did a Summer Fic Reading Bingo a month ago provided by @ficreadingchallenge

Initially, I wanted to plan it out better by reading fanfic I don't usually go to, each prompt a different fandom, and having a complete blackout. Unfortunately, life got in the way and as I found out, Archive of Our Own is an interesting site to dig around, but it takes time. Some of the prompts were more difficult to find than others and then the ones I did find, it was with a fandom I had no knowledge about or it squicked me out before I could read it.

Perhaps later on my own, I could go back to this and add the ones I didn't get a bingo on. Or I'll do this again next year and get a blackout. But I made sure to at least get one line of bingo. I seemed to misinterpret the free space as a fic of my choice that doesn't fall into the other categories, so you get an extra fic recommendation. Without further ado, here is my masterlist of fics I read during the Summer on AO3:

Fic With No Comments Yet: "Improbable Dreams" by Senseless_Scape (Nightmare Before Christmas) - Teen, Graphic Violence, Character Death. An ongoing fic that so far focuses on atmosphere and mystery. Maybe has Coraline elements? Can't wait to read for more updates.

High School/College AU: "Come home tomorrow." by GreenAssCat (The Owl House) - Gen, F/F, No Archive Warnings. A nice Lumity fluff fic in a college setting.

Free Space: "Thank you, Pugsley" by Emroy (Dead End: Paranormal Park) - Gen, No Archive Warnings Apply. A nice little fic about Temeluchus after Season 1, episode 10.

Body Swap: "Freaky (Fifth-Dimensional) Friday" by Mithen (DCU - Comicverse) - Gen, M/M, No Archive Warnings. A fic where Batman and Superman swap bodies by a magic bet and must go through life as the other person. Nice characterization and realization.

Podfic: "Don't feed the plants" written by Beth Harker and read by Static_Whisper (Little Shop of Horrors) - Teen, Gen, Character Death. Warning, this does allude to the current events a few years ago. Basically, it puts man-eating plants within our current world told in a news reporter format.

Long Fic: "A Phantomhive in Night Raven College" by Darkspellmaster (Black Butler/Twisted Wonderland) - Teen, F/M and Gen, No Archive Warnings. An ongoing crossover fic with Ciel Phantomhive from Black Butler as Yuu in Twisted Wonderland. Very unique and blends both fandoms together.

Domestic/Curtain Fic: "Plagg's Cheese Tax" by gacenbgirl (Miraculous Ladybug) - Gen and No Archive Warnings. A short and sweet fic of Plagg telling a story to Marinette and Adrien's kids.

ive never kept an au close to my chest in my life its an actual problem

modern: exactly what it says on the tin, its just a modern au. The boba orders of each character are near and dear to me (o!ciel's is brown sugar milk tea with extra pearls and custard). Funtom does social media engagement and o!Ciel hates every minute of it - he's tragically basically an influencer at this point.

role swap: Sebastian Michaelis is the bastard son of a noble, serving as a butler to his biological brother when the house is attacked and the servants are carted off to be auctioned. He finds out later that the attack was just a pretence to be rid of him. Sold to a cult, summons a demon. Young, bratty noble born demon Ciel's first contract and unlike most demons he enjoys human food - specifically sweets. Content he's hardly going to starve any time soon, his deal with Sebastian isn't for his soul, but for his service. Sebastian gains an overpowered young master.

funtom sweets shop: o!Ciel never does a deal with Sebastian, instead escaping when the incensed demon starts laying waste to the cult that summoned him. reunited with Tanaka, lacking the Phantomhive signet ring and any inclination towards being queen's watchdog he instead starts Funtom in a single store, predominantly selling sweets in the heart of London. Still, something about the Phantomhive family attracts the underworld, and when Jack the Ripper starts leaving corpses around his part of London, o!Ciel is moved to find out who it is.

Meanwhile, Sebastian, summoned but sans master, finds the tortured little soul that escaped him that night. He hangs around, oddly invested in this angry little young master learning to do labor for the first time.
