There is a cyclic tragedy inherent to Mori's character wherein he's actually a deeply lonely man, but it's mostly because his resolve to do morally reprehensible things and think of people as pieces on the game board is something he prioritizes over his relations with those very same people, and this inevitably pushes them away (for very understandable reasons). And it kind of sucks honestly because the most frustrating thing about Mori is that he 100% has the potential to be a fantastic teacher and mentor, and more than that, I think he loves it! Just look at Beast! But for as long as he decides he needs to be the one to make "the hard calls" to "preserve peace", then Mori will inevitably continue in this cycle of alienating all the people he has a fondness for.

I do feel as though Mori's loneliness is something he views as a necessary sacrifice that he is making for the greater good (and if he is so willing to sacrifice, then Dazai's unwillingness to do the same comes out of left field because - "what do you mean? you're supposed to be just like me!").

Anyways.

I'm very definitively positive on clone/Jedi relationships, both platonic and romantic.

I'm going to hit the biologically children thing first because like... no, they're not. If you want to go that route, then you have to count Grogu as a middle aged adult because he's 50 years old even though his official name for a while was literally "The Child" and he's definitely treated like a child in the narrative more often than he isn't. Jango Fett was (as far as I'm aware) a regular human. The clones, the altered ones at least (so not Omega or Boba), are almost an entirely different species. They LOOK human, but they've been engineered to be different from the baseline human they were based off of to the point that they aren't necessarily all that similar to a regular human beyond cosmetics. So if you don't view them as "fucked up humans who should be treated like children because they're technically only 10 years old" and instead view them as "subspecies of human that reaches maturity around 9 years old", then it's a lot harder to view them as children.

I think that it's fair to claim that the clones are SHELTERED and likely fairly ignorant and naive about a lot of things in the world due to their upbringing, sure, but that doesn't make them children. They're also relatively young regardless of whether you'd consider them children or not, the youngest ones we know about are sent out to war at what would be the equivalent of about 20 years old and they're only around 26ish by the time the war ENDS. So even accounting for the accelerated aging, they're still pretty young and there's going to be a lot about the galaxy and how to live in it that would be new to them. Their understanding of how relationships work is going to be skewed given everything we know about their childhoods and the way the Kaminoans canonically seem to view them.

So I think that the Jedi and clones would likely often end up in a sort of mentor/mentee relationship, especially in the beginning. We see this most strongly with Yoda and the three Coruscant Guard characters and Plo Koon with the three 104th characters in the first four episodes of season 1, as well as with Shaak Ti and Fives and Echo during the Clone Cadets episode of season 3. The Jedi are natural teachers and I think they'd start to get to know these young men who are so devastatingly intelligent but who were only ever taught about how to fight a war and they'd immediately take the opportunity to help guide the clones towards figuring out who they are and who they want to be. We're pretty much told that this is true point blank when I believe it's Nala Se or Lama Su speaks to Dooku during season 6 and they say that the Jedi have been encouraging individuality in the clones. Fives says that the Jedi respect the clones and calls the Jedi their best friends at two separate points in the narrative. The Jedi literally use their OWN PHILOSOPHIES to help the clones learn what it means to be PEOPLE and to embrace that for themselves.

The relationship between the Jedi and the clones is honestly one of the most beautiful and heartwrenching dynamics in the entirety of Star Wars to me. Their destinies are entwined irrevocably and they are each the others' doom and salvation all at once. The Jedi help the clones discover who they are, but they're also going to end up being the reason the clones lose all sense of themselves. The clones are a light in the dark for the Jedi during the war, but they're also going to be the weapon that helps plunge the entire world into darkness by eliminating the Jedi. These two groups that are SO similar in so many ways but for vastly different reasons who are thrown together by forces beyond either of their control and learn to understand each other better than anyone else ever has and love and trust each other implicitly for it and that love and trust is then used to destroy them both. It's absolutely devastating and really gets me in those feels.

As far as romantic ships, I sort-of said my piece on the age thing earlier, but I honestly find that fussing about characters' ages in Star Wars is more ridiculous than it usually is. These characters are literally ALIENS and it's a universe where human characters who are twelve years old are allowed to hold office. I have my personal preferences in terms of clone/Jedi ships, but I am a very ship and let ship sort of person (yes, even with the ships I DESPISE), so I'm not going to make a big deal out of clone/Jedi ships. I also like clone/clone ships which tons of people find problematic for other reasons, so whatever.

I HAVE seen the superior/subordinate thing get addressed in clone/Jedi fics before. Sometimes it ends in the characters deciding to wait until after the war and when the clones are given rights and official citizenship status or something before they begin a romantic relationship, and sometimes it ends in the characters recognizing that a lot of the rules shouldn't really matter when they're at war and they could die literally any day and they deserve to find happiness and pleasure where they can find it so long as they work to ensure that this doesn't impact their respective responsibilities. Again though, this is a space fantasy and absolutely nobody on the writing staff for The Clone Wars was taking the structure and internal dynamics of this fantasy military particularly seriously, so I'm not sure why I or anyone else should have to if they don't want to.

So yeah, I love relationships between the clones and Jedi, it's probably my favorite dynamic in the whole franchise, regardless of whether it's platonic or romantic.

You aren't scared of either of them at first.

Scorpion's teachings are fierce and packed with energy, like harnessing fire in your moves.

Sub-Zero's teachings are calmer and more defensive, as if you're using ice to reduce the impact of blows.

Their teaching styles are powerful alone.

Although, due to both of them teaching you, you manage to combine the two styles at times.

You prove to be a promising apprentice for both of them.

You care for your teachers a lot.

Even sitting with the two when drinking tea or meditating.

They care for you too.

Quite a bit, actually.

Both of them actually start to be attached to their newest fledgeling.

They act very parental when teaching you.

Scorpion hopes he's caring for you right while teaching you.

He... had a kid in the past, although he never took care of one past infancy.

You may be around 18, but Scorpion still goes easy on you in fear of harming you.

It's odd, Scorpion being afraid?

It's out of character for him, although you may remind him of the child he could've had.

Sub-Zero treats you like Frost, but you're clearly the favorite.

Which... results in Frost being envious.

Sub-Zero's always monitoring Frost in case she hurts you, however.

She needs to play nice.

You become afraid when you notice their weird behavior.

Frost and Sub-Zero usually fight nowadays... yet they bring you up quite a lot.

You are a bit concerned on why Sub-Zero's so defensive about you.

Scorpion also seems quite tense around Sub-Zero when you're in the room.

Soon you begin to learn both of your teachers are a bit possessive of their student.

One of them wants to be the favorite.

They want you to take to one of them rather than share.

They were okay with sharing until now.

Now you see both ninjas fight more and more.

Both verbally and physically.

You hate it when they bring up your name.

What scares you is you know what they're capable of.

Who hasn't heard of Scorpion killing the old Sub-Zero?

Sub-Zero himself is capable of shattering people after freezing them in ice.

They both are skilled and powerful.

Which begins your growing fear, unsure how to keep them happy.

In an attempt to appease your teachers, you try to bring them together again.

You treat them as if they are like your parents.

You cling to them both, you shower them with praise for being your teachers, you show them you care.

They adore you and the fact you do care for them despite your fear...

Yet they can't share you.

Your fear reaches its peak when they really start hurting people over their obsession.

That's when you run away.

You make sure to time it when they aren't around and flee.

You can take care of yourself.

Your teachers don't seem to think so.

Within days or maybe even hours, you're found by one of them.

They're obviously upset at your betrayal.

Why would you run away if you care for them so much?

Were you lying?

Them locking you in one of their temples does little to ease your fear.

In fact, the isolation scares you more.

Your teachers don't understand your fear.

Despite their fighting, they share the responsibility of caring for you like it or not.

All your training is done in private with them...

You only ever see the two ninjas now...

Which means your fear has never been higher.

Badger Cereal Fic Recs

I am heinously picky when it comes to fanfic, so for those of ya’ll hungry for badger cereal and in need of good fics: COME GET YA’LL’S FOOD. 

1. (we are) the fault line by @iguessyouregonnamissthepantyraid . This is my number one favorite dp fic of all time, tho... it’s not technically badger cereal? Danny’s only in the fic for like, 2 seconds, but it’s still got parental/protective Vlad and found family, and it’s flawless so I’m including it anyway. A basic summary is: Sam, Tucker, Dani, and Valerie team up with Vlad to rescue Danny from the government. Road trip fic featuring angst, hurt/comfort, buckets of found family, and incredible humor. Word count: 46k

2. How to Mentor a Troubled Ghost Child by @ectopal (and its sequel oneshot). This is my second favorite dp fic of all time, and it’s an actual proper badger cereal fic lol. Quick summary: Vlad has a mini-crisis and starts to work on getting his life together, starting with how he treats Danny. Enemies to friends to mentor/mentee, hurt/comfort, EXTREMELY FLUFFY AND WHOLESOME. Word count: 23k

3. Humans and Ghosts by RedGhost1010. I think this was one of the first dp fics I ever read. Not centrally focused on badger cereal, but it comes into play in the last one or two chapters, and I at least was surprised and delighted by it. Quick summary: Danny’s life is basically just falling apart, largely because Jack and Maddie aren’t the best parents. Angst warning, Danny whump, lots of Good Sister Jazz, protective Vlad at the end. Word count: 26k

4. Overshadowed by @whereonceiwasfire . This fic’s a commitment but it was a super cool read; the fight scenes were awesome and I was vibing so hard with the badger cereal. Basic summary: College-age Danny is having a rough time and it just gets worse when a certain enemy- heck, you could even say his ultimate enemy- comes back for a rematch. Fic is 95% heavy angst, some crumbs of h/c, heavy focus on badger cereal, character death and it might not be who you expect, epic anime-style fights, not sure if you’d call it a satisfying ending but it’s an ending. Word count: 142k

5. Untethered by  @life-jim-but-not-as-we-know-it (”draculard” on AO3). This is a brand new badger cereal fic that was posted only a week or two ago, so only the first chapter is out, but that so far is excellent. the Official Summary for the fic: There was a dead boy on Vlad Masters’ doorstep. So far featuring angst, hurt/comfort, big Danny!whump and protective!Vlad. Current word count: 486 words

6. Conspiracy by @elowenp . Super cute oneshot! Vlad’s not actually in it, but it’s still about badger cereal. Quick summary: Jazz (and friends) are trying to convince Danny to stay with Vlad since his parents are constantly trying to kill his alter ego. Humor and fluff. Word count: 1.5K

7. Still Better Than Google Translate by Hollyflash. I legitimately laughed out loud reading this one. Basic summary: Danny reluctantly asks Vlad to teach him Russian. This isn’t an overly spectacular idea, and it almost immediately dives off the rails. Humor/comedy, Vlad’s suffering is hilarious. Word count: 2k

Anyway the question that always gets asked whenever I reveal that I'm not actually into the Cloud/Tifa thing is who do I ship them with if not each other.

The answer is a little more complicated than all that because from the start I considered their relationship something closer to a QPR before I even knew what that meant. I was calling them platonic life partners back then. People who don't feel any romantic love for each other but have chosen to stay regardless, or perhaps because.

I think, before, Cloud thought he wanted to be for Sephiroth what Zack wanted to be for Angeal. A puppy-like affection, a mentor/mentee comradery, and a close connection. I think Sephiroth would have hated it. He was cold and standoffish to Zack until circumstances forced them together, and even then he only really opened up due to Zack's connection to Angeal. I don't think having his own "puppy" would have been welcome at all. And I think Cloud would have been forced to come to terms with reconciling his hero worship with the reality of everything.

He and Zack were friends, but Zack was actively dating Aerith at the time, and Cloud didn't know Aerith existed back then. And within the narrative, Zack and Aerith are "parents"- with how often Aerith is referred to as a mother with Zack standing beside her, and Cloud is among those who repeatedly mistake Aerith for their mom. Zack does it once within the complilation, before he meets her for real, Cloud a few times, *after* he knows who she is. Clearly even when [redacted], Zack and Aerith are intended to be read as a couple, but then that once again removes an option for Cloud.**

The others... eh. I could be pursuded with the right argument but within canon itself it doesn't hold much water. Once we eliminate those four, he's got affectionate negging with Barrett, a quiet respect for Vincent, and a mutual back-scratching with Reeve. He's vaguely willing to play ball with Reno and Rude but not willing enough to let his guard down, while he treats the other Turks with some distain. He mostly tolerates Cid and Yuffie he both treats like and calls a child- she's the youngest so fair, but still removes her from the playing field. Anyone else connected to Shinra he actively dislikes, so Rufus and his flunkies are out.

We've got confirmation that he doesn't remember Kunzel and if Tseng remembers who Cloud is, he's being characteristically tight-lipped about it but Cloud certainly doesn't remember him. The OG Avalanche crew all died, even though Biggs lived in the Remake, and they weren't close. The Remnants of course mostly wanted to kill him the entire time. Deepground barely acknowledges his existence. Angeal died before Zack met Cloud and Genesis was too deep in his own shit to care.

So like. That doesn't really leave anyone.

Personally I think Cloud has way too much unresolved grief and trauma that he still has not worked through. It's years later in Advent Children when he's finally able to begin to move on from [redacted], and despite that even more years later in Dirge of Cerberus he's still notoriously distant and moody and prone to flaking. He's still questioning who he really is, can he actually trust his own memories and senses, and how much guilt is he willing to shrug off his shoulders for his actions while under someone else's control.

And I think being a distant moody asshole that pushes your friends away because you don't know if they're actually real or not is a difficult mindset to be in while also trying to be in love. So he doesn't try. His friends do love him anyway however exasperated they may be with him at times when he shuts them out while Going Through It. But it means he's not really building anything with any of them either.

Except Tifa, who keeps a room and a bed and a desk for him when he decides to come back, whose bar he calls home, who adopted a scared little boy with him, who watches their friend's adopted daughter with him. Who takes a family photo of the four of them together, which sits on that desk. Who quietly sorts the research papers as he hunts for a cure for an incurable disease affecting their son. Who yells and scolds him not because he left and stopped coming home, but because he gave up and shut her out when he contracted the same disease rather than letting her help.

"You don't answer the phone, but I don't see you throwing it away."

Out of all the voicemails on his phone, it was hers saying Reno had dropped by the bar looking for him and being vaguely threatening with the kids that got him to go see the Turks. He did not followup on Reeve's invite to the WRO. He didn't go chasing oil with Barrett. He didn't visit Yuffie in Wutai. But Tifa says "Reno was here being his usual weird self, I think something was wrong", and he went to investigate.

I don't ship it. I think he believes he's too broken for romance. And I think she's very patient to wait for him and give him the space he needs. Maybe they're FWB. Maybe it's entirely platonic. But the compliation has shown us that it's *something*, even if it's deliberately vague on what type of something.

**I do sort of like the "first this guy [redacted] my boyfriend, then he [redacted] my girlfriend, after trying to [redacted] my childhood best friend and succeeding in [redacted] my entire village and also my mom. This Sephiroth guy sucks" paired with Sephiroth's "tell me what you cherish most, give me the pleasure of taking it away" vibes of Cloud/Zack/Aerith don't get me wrong, but also as said Aerith and Zack were dating at the time but Cloud does not know who she is (or even that Zack has a girlfriend) and it is Very Important that Cloud not know the name Aerith until after Zack [redacted] which would imply sort of shadey behavior on Zack's part. And I don't really see him as the type to cheat, so.

kinda sorta maybe wanna write kaiya before she remembered who she was -- when she was still “ kai ” : ) she still had the potential to be soft and kind, but she was much more distrusting and merciless with humans. i imagine she could be found prowling entertainment districts of major cities, so!! there’s opportunities for slayers and demons to meet my sweet pastel child

pls let kaiya be friends with more slayers and kakushi!! she is too soft to not attempt to befriend everyone she meets :’ ) there are certain details to keep in mind like the fact that not many would know about her connection to the demon slayer corps ( at first, that is ), but i would love to toss her at more people!

they were saved by a slayer, so i’d love to plot out that relationship with someone! keep in mind that this happened five years ago for them, so the slayer would likely be around satsuki’s age or older, assuming the slayer was at least 14-15 at the time. but i think there’s a lot of potential for character development with this kind of relationship so :’ )) gimme gimme!!

i would like to write more of satsuki bossing stubborn, injured slayers around pls and thank you <3

Hi there, Positivity Anon! It's wonderful to hear from you. I hope the new year is treating you well!

For things I'd like to accomplish/plots I'd like to do? Here are a few!

I blame fantasy literature for making this trope feel fun again, but: soulmates and/or arranged marriage plot. However, this really has to be with the right mun and muse. This would be a long-term, slow-burn plotline with someone who is interested and comfortable with that sort of storytelling, and someone I can easily plot with OOC while replying to threads consistently. This is something I'm happy to wait to write until that right fit of mun and muse come along and express interest.

Probably something for Sonia in her adult, non-despair verse: I'd love to see her take on a mentee, protégé, or ward. Likely before she marries and has children (note: she doesn't get a choice in this matter. It is part of her birthright to do so), but she shares her home, and life, with a young child in need of a caring parental figure in their lives. There would certainly be some pushback from her family, and it would force Sonia to really think about the sort of parent or guardian she wants to be. She's had enough issues with her own that she thinks she knows what she doesn't want to do, but that's not as easy as it seems as she grows up.

Hope's. Peak. Reunion. Interactions (non-despair)! Beyond the whole murder mystery/Tragedy plots, one of the most interesting things I find about Dan.ga.nronpa is how much pressure is put on Ultimates to succeed in their chosen talents. And I think it's fascinating to meet those characters again after university/school and see if they were able to do that. Or did they peak in high school? Maybe they found other interests and talents that satisfy them far more than the one they went to school for (Le.on Ku.wata would be a good example of this). Did any of them go back to teach, like Miss Yu.kizome? Anyway: slice of life drama of old high school friends in their twenties trying to figure out their lives.

A chance to update and use more of my verses. I need to actually add Sonia's vampire AU (though if you check it out, it's not actually Sonia! 😉), but there are others that should probably be there too. In general, I'm open to historical verses from the 16th Century to right around World War I, though I think @dangaer and I chatted about a Pio.fiore verse at some point? I'd still be down for that. Cu.pid Par.asite too. And speaking of verses...

...after reading so much fantasy literature in 2022, particularly Sarah J. Maas, I'm leaning heavily into giving Sonia a fantasy verse. However, I'm more inclined to make it ACOTAR or Crescent City specific. I'm leaning towards CC because of the urban fantasy vibe that might work better for a modern canon character (and without retconning a canon or making a new Court, trying to figure out which Court Sonia belongs to in ACOTAR is proving to be a challenge!). So, yeah: Fantasy, but likely fandom specific fantasy. Unless something else comes along and changes my mind.

Eventually someone will unlock the backstory that answers the question of why Sonia was admitted and forced to attend Hope's Peak Academy. It's a popular fandom criticism that I choose to bring IC in this case: some people believe Sonia's talent to be unworthy of a spot at the school, as she was born into it. And truly, there are plenty of academic institutions eager to admit a princess...

Headcanon A: realistic

Parker finds it really easy to subsume herself into a state of calm focus specifically for stealing things. If she ever feels overwhelmed emotionally or just generally overstimulated, she can put her attention to stealing something and sink into a state where all those things just get set aside for a while. She needs to focus completely on her plan, after all, and the routine of scoping out security, figuring a route in, or even just the physical bodily control needed to sneak past everyone undetected and so on, is fully absorbing. If the issue is a physical one then it's often over by the time she is done stealing whatever (or, depending on the situation, just sitting very still running all the mental simulations and stuff while tuning out the world around her); if it's emotional that's rarely the case, but sometimes it feels less immediate and devastating. Used to be she would just wait until she was completely alone afterwards to then either attempt to process/let it out or just keep setting things aside. But since meeting Leverage and especially Hardison and Sophie, Parker is a lot better at either not needing to do that in the first place (particularly with regards to avoiding things that cause sensory or social overstimulation), or actually dealing with or talking through what's bothering her if it's emotional. Sometimes when she is really upset she still copes best this way but for the most part she spends more time on happy thievery or take-down-the-bad-guys thievery these days and far less on self-soothing thievery.

Headcanon B: while it may not be realistic it is hilarious

I really like the idea of Parker revenge pranking people, but in really really weird ways that don't necessarily even register as pranks at any point. Like, Eliot and Hardison troll her about time travel or aliens or whatever. So she gets back at them by slowly shifting Hardison's gaming set-up over the course of two years so that he's now sitting in a spot where the sun reflects off the TV screen and messes him up and he complains out loud about who ever thought this was a good spot for it, and gets into an argument with Eliot about him doing this, etc. Meanwhile Parker is just sitting there quietly smirking to herself like "haha pranked you back." Or she takes tips from Sophie to condition Eliot to always buy some amount of chocolate every single time he buys groceries, or befriends Nana and then breaks into Hardison's childhood home to build a little collection of old things from when he was a kid and then forge a note in his third grade hand-writing about hidden treasure to hide in his desk and then bury the box of stuff in the backyard, so that if he ever finds it he'll wonder what exactly he was thinking back then. That sort of stuff. It always is a long-term plan and always works but no one else connects it to the inciting incident at all, and maybe not even to Parker ever. However, she has great fun with it.

Headcanon C: heart-crushing and awful, but fun to inflict on friends

Parker was so so SO excited when Archie accepted her as his daughter. She showed it off all over the place that whole episode. But I think he never actually admitted that he was a thief and so on to his biological family. He left the implication that Parker was either his mentee for unspecified get-her-off-the-streets reasons or that she was his child from an affair or whatever. I imagine his wife is dead by now and he only has the one daughter we briefly saw and her grandchildren as living relatives, so it's fairly easy for him to just not answer her questions. She's welcoming to Parker despite being deeply confused, but the contrast between the way he is still hiding how he treated Parker and her own feeling of obligations not to admit to anything he hasn't so as not to "out" him, vs. Archie's daughter's welcoming her and being genuinely interested in her wellbeing and story is... striking. Obviously she might not have been so mature and eager to get to know Parker as a child, but emotionally that doesn't really help the feeling that if Archie had truly taken her in maybe she could have found a way to belong, even if not fully. But then again, she still feels like she has to hide so much about herself around the daughter, and it's just... a big tangled mess of emotions, every time. A lot of good, but also a lot of bad that slowly shifts more and more to being kind of upset with Archie in a way she never knew how to be, before. As a result, they drift apart a lot and Parker has unlocked new kinds of family angst as a result. She can never hate him but sometimes she resents him a lot now. And doing so always always hurts her, and feels like a betrayal, not something she can ever say out loud to anyone, but she can't stop thinking it to herself and is somewhat aware that this isn't being unfair to Archie so much as it is being fair to herself - but again, she so much prefers to just love him and be happy that he loves her so she hates this. I also think her relationship with the daughter is a somewhat awkward relationship vaguely reminiscent to Alice+Peggy, where Parker still feels like she's kind of playing a role rather than truly being herself, but also genuinely values the connection a lot. Daughter is actually pretty good at not asking too many questions (she picks up on the tension and realizes she'd need those answers from Archie first) and enjoys Parker being around and being an aunt to her kids sometimes, and has invited her over for holidays and stuff before, but it's still always kind of weird and a little painful for them both.

Headcanon D: unrealistic, but I will disregard canon about it because I reject canon reality and substitute my own.

Gonna go for the big lazy one here, which I don't consider unrealistic actually: Parker, Hardison, and Eliot hooked up in DC that one time. Well, it was mostly emotional and some mild making out. But then afterwards Eliot kinda freaked out and distanced himself for a few episodes, while Parker and Hardison waited him out. This kinda came to a head in the aftermath of the Toy Job and yes, Parker did try to utilize the Baby Joy-Rage or whatever it's called for that conversation with Eliot. They all got together after that, so they were newly together in the original show finale and have been since then.

I do wonder what it is that makes y’all want to assign characters sibling/general nuclear family roles so instantaneously. Like, you’re the one superimposing the “sibling-like” or “parent/child-like” qualities pretty much eight times out of ten, not the media, and yet you’ll fight with such fervor with people who didn’t take leaps and bounds to get to the same conclusions you did regardless. The characters can’t all just be good ass partners or friends or overlords or mentor/mentee or have a potential future romantic/sexual relationship together. No, they have to be siblings, their bond has to be that of an older/younger sibling. This older character has to be this younger ones “new/other” parent, and the younger has to be their child, there is simply no other way. Just being a guardian or older figure/friend in a younger character’s life isn’t an option, the character has to be the younger ones father/mother or parentified brother/sister or aunt/uncle or grumpy cousin or some shit. What’s y’all’s obsession with assigning people nuclear family roles like it’ll kill you if you don’t? Why must the connection between characters be made explicitly into something familial or elude to potential blood relation for y’all to truly view it with importance? Where the fuck did that come from?

I’ll admit that sometimes the familial titles do fit headcanon wise (or are actively canon in a way I enjoy) but other times the way characters get forced into familial roles is just painful and limiting as fuck for characterization. Not to mention how y’all’s assigning and then forced implementation of these roles often just plain undermines the characters you don’t want to deal with but don’t want to seem bigoted for feeling that way about or traps minority characters in positional cages they can’t get out because y’all don’t want them with your perfect white characters romantically.

Got a group of boys in a team and couldn’t give a shit about the one or two girl characters? Pretend they just have so much of their shit together that there’s nothing for you to flesh out and that they’re like the boys’ mother so that’s why she’s so dull when you write her. And, you can use this same method to get black and brown characters out of your way as well!

Don’t want an interracial (usually where one character is black) couple to happen, especially in canon? Oh, just say they’re best friends and aggressively remind that to everyone at every goddamn turn. Or, alternatively, stress that they’re like brother and sister to you so you just can’t see them “that way” and tell that to fucking everybody even when no one’s asked.

Don’t want a third (usually female) character in a group of three to get “in the way” of your favorite (usually male) otp? Oh, just make her their daughter or (usually younger) sister. Bam! Problem solved!

And Damon Salvatore’s relationship with Bonnie Bennett’s treatment by TVD creators and fans (both the writing off of Bamon as a ship and ignoring of their strong friendship outside of being able to use it as evidence to further undermine Bamon as a romantic couple). And Doctor Strange and America Chavez in the MCU. And….

I'm so upset we were robbed of jujutsu sorcerer Junpei because I just can picture how happy Junpei would be to finally have a group of actual friends, like imagine Yuuji, Kugisaki and Megumi asking Junpei to go out with them to hang out or go shopping or watch a movie ... imagine Gojo asking Junpei what he wants to eat for dinner and treating him, Yuuji, Kugisaki and Megumi to omurice ( idk Junpei looks like he'd like omurice ) and imagine Junpei, from feeling shy and insecure and scared that the other sorcerers will laugh at him/ this is going to be a repeat of school, becoming more confident to speak his mind and crack jokes around the rest and the rest all support him and make sure he always feels included and when Junpei gets insecure and is like " do you guys really want to hang around me or do you secretly find me uncool ... it's okay if you don't want to hang out with me " they always assure him and make sure he understands they really do see him as a great friend !!!!

AND IMAGINE NANAMI BEING JUNPEI'S MENTOR ... like literally I just KNOW Nanami would be an amazing mentor for Junpei especially since Junpei's never really had understanding / good teacher figures. Imagine Nanami making sure Junpei has good meals and that he's happy and feeling included and having fun ( not just being turned into a weapon to fight curses but also enjoying his youth ) ... and helping Junpei grow as a sorcerer, but most importantly, as a human being, as a teenager, but at the same time ensuring he's growing in a safe and healthy environment ... imagine Junpei having a good teacher figure he can lean on, learn from, and is comfortable with and I know Junpei'd feel super comfortable with Nanami because Nanami shows him actual care and concern ( unlike Mahi** )

imagine the Mahito Yuuji Nanami fight going differently ( which is Junpei lives and turns his Shikigami against Mahito ), and the first adult he meets is Nanami ... he thinks Nanami's going to scold him and yell at him for being so " naive " for trusting Mahito, but instead the first thing Nanami does after the fight is make sure he's okay and he's not badly injured and like a proper responsible teacher, when he takes Junpei to the higher ups to explain the situation, he speaks for Junpei and defends him ( regarding Mahito ) instead of throwing him there to defend himself, like his previous teachers had done and personally requests to be Junpei's mentor ... and imagine when Junpei fails on his first mission, he's really scared but Nanami, instead of yelling at him ( Junpei's expectation ) , goes, " Well done, Junpei-kun. You did the best you could. What would you like to have for lunch ? " and Nanami never once makes Junpei feel guilty for failing, instead emphasizing each time how he's just a child and it's normal to fail on missions. Nanami would've been such an amazing mentor to Junpei aaaaaa everytime I think about this I feel so ufhdhfjdjfhdhd because imagine the wholesome interactions we'd have gotten of Junpei having a respectable, proper mentor/teacher ...

and imagine Nanami taking Junpei under his wing, like he'd make sure Junpei's eating well and sleeping well and he'd take Junpei out for lunch after every mission and make sure he's enjoying himself in jujutsu tech and he isn't being excluded or ostracized ... Imagine Nanami " adopting " Junpei and so there's this tall intimidating looking hot sorcerer and his starry eyed mentee going on missions together !!!!! and imagine the first out of state mission Junpei gets assigned with Nanami, and Junpei's super excited because it's like a field trip and he's never been on a field trip because bullies. And Nanami finds out and even though his plan was to just lie down in the hotel room and relax for a few days after the mission, he takes Junpei around to the fun places in the prefecture they're in and makes sure he has the best time ever - and also he makes several phone calls to the school to demand action to be taken against the bullies and for a formal apology to be made to Junpei, otherwise he'll take " legal action " . And Junpei never knows what happens but he does get a formal letter of apology from the school a few days later, as well as monetary compensation for the hurt caused to him.

anyway nanami mentor Junpei mentee has me in a nasty chokehold rn maybe I'll write more about them because Junpei truly deserves a respectable, adult, mentor he can look up to. And he deserves a happier ending

Technoblade — God of blood and war

Technoblade is the first descendant of the celestial bloodline, as well as one of the most troubled gods in Olympus. While started out as the perfect son, Techno quickly began to sense a rift between him and his family as his thirst for blood grew with the years. He is feared by both mortals and gods alike, and hasn’t set foot in Olympus in decades. He used to be rather close to Niki and Philza, before eventually disappearing completely from their lives — at least, that’s what other gods believe.

There are many myths surrounding the great blood god, Technoblade. Among them, one manages to stand out — the tale behind his title. It is believed that Techno abandoned Olympus willingly — but not without taking a stance and fighting. It is told that the moment the battle ceased, the moment Techno stepped out of the golden gates, rain started pouring in the mortal world. Except it wasn’t just rain.

It was blood.

Wilbur; Cantio — God of music

Wilbur holds several names in the mortal realm — Apollo, Ihy, Bragi — the most prevalent being Cantio. The reason as to why his name holds vast variations is quite simple — Wilbur, unlike other gods, has spent most of his existence dabbling between civilizations, illuminating their artists and peacefully listening to their music.

He is the second to oldest son, only falling behind Technoblade. His celestial life, however, has also been defined by dark periods of time — moments when the god of music fell into destruction and chaos. Little is known of Wilbur’s darkest times, as he has made an effort to delete it from humanity’s records. Yet even when he tries his best to forget, his brother Dream is always there to remind him.

Cantio has grown to replace Philza’s presence when he’s away for months, years, even decades. With Techno gone and Dream being a manipulative snake, the burden has fallen on Wilbur’s shoulders — whether he liked it or not.

He is most distant with Ambustio and Dream — out of self-preservation... not that he’d ever admit it. On the other hand, he’s undoubtedly closest to Tommy, who actually was the one to gift him his beloved golden lyre.

Dream — God of lies and deception

Dream is definitely one of the most cryptic gods there are, his story finding itself wrapped around mystery and secrecy. He is younger only to Techno and Wilbur, and isn’t as close to his family as the others. Although his story has been lost to time, the older gods can vaguely recall centuries ago— when rather than the god of lies, Dream was known as the god of truth. As the centuries passed, the rift between him and his celestial family grew bigger. No one can remember when exactly he began wearing his infamous mask— or why. Dream’s face was another victim lost to the passage of time, only to become a distorted image in other gods’ minds.

While Dream may be known as the god of lies and deceit, he does hold close friendships and alliances, as are his relationship with his brother Ambustio (Sapnap) and his trusted friend Somnio (George). He is praised amongst mortals, not only because of the fact that they fear him greatly (rightfully so), but also because of the rumors and whispers that surround his name. Because among the few things that haven’t been lost to the years lies the knowledge that Dream can grant miracles.

Sapnap ; Ambustio — God of fire

Sapnap, otherwise known as Ambustio, is the middle child of their celestial family. He is known for his fiery temper, as well as his lack of restraint when it comes to certain aspects of his godly duties. He’s known for butting heads with Tommy — and unlike Wilbur and Tommy’s fights — they rarely ever end in agreements or apologies. Regardless, he cares for his family — even if he may hide said care underneath walls and walls of steel. Sapnap is often aligned with Dream and Somnio — three gods with a limitless capability for chaos.

Niki ; Nihachu — Goddess of the four seasons (formerly)

Niki, otherwise known as Nihachu, was the former goddess of the four seasons. Back when she resided in Olympus, she used to spend her days with Wilbur and Techno. Although no one has ever dared to say it out loud, it is widely thought among gods that Niki was Technoblade’s last friendship, his last straw — once she was gone, there was no reason for him to remain in contact with the rest of his family. Although Niki has not set foot in her former home since her banishment, her presence still remains among the marble hallways. For an instance, Wilbur’s corner in Olympus has beautiful blossoms that bloom in vines around the columns. Dream’s former balcony, on the other hand, has bushes of thorns that grow over, and over, and over again.

As for Niki’s current state, it is widely unknown — even to gods like Wilbur or even Dream. All that is known is that she roams the mortal plane, watching as life and death weave themselves into the mortality of humans.

George; Somnio — God of sleep

Somnio’s origins are rather distorted among mortals. Every tale seems to develop differently than the others — some believe he was merely a dream of Philza’s that materialized into the immortal plane, whereas others believe he was created to balance the god of deception and the god of fire. Either way, George is not related to the others through blood, though he’s come to earn the title of brother through the centuries.

Somnio is a rather enigmatic character. The myths that surround him are rather — vague, if not completely made up by mortals. Time has carried the truth with it, leaving only rumors and mortal tales. And although he’s got countless temples and celebrations in his name, George happens to be the one god that has never — ever — set foot in the mortal realm. The reason why? No one has tangible answer — not even the gods themselves.

Despite never wandering around the vast lands of the human realm, it seems like all mortals are able to recall his features to perfection. It’s strange... almost like they saw it in a dream.

Tommy ; Faeles — God of trickery and thieves

Tommy is the youngest god yet, only narrowly falling behind Tubbo. He’s reckless and mischievous— much to other gods’ irritation. He, however, is also the exception. Because while his godly title may not sound like much, he carries a heavy potential within him.

Not many things manage to surprise gods — after centuries of existing, you’d think they’ve already seen everything. Tommy was once again there to prove them wrong. When he came into existence, there was something... peculiar about him. Something almost unheard of, something rare — even among celestial beings. Tommy was born with a pair of wings. Other than Philza, god of all gods, he’s the only member of Olympus that has them. Red wings, feathers seeming as if they were carefully hand painted with the seeds of a pomegranate. He struggled greatly with them during his first decades as a god, never quite managing to fit in — the wings quickly became a reminder of who he should look up to, but would never become. With time, of course, he learned to embrace them, soon becoming a messenger of sorts among gods.

Tubbo ; Alveare — God of wildlife

Tubbo is a god particularly praised by mortals, often being portrayed as a deity of nature. He’s grown to become symbol of peace and youth among humans, and has several festivities celebrated in his name. When it comes to myths and tales about him, the most prevalent tend to be ones that associate him with Nihachu, granting them a stringer sibling bond through a sort of mentor-mentee relationship. Tubbo is mostly associated with Tommy, as his rather passive nature tends to become more chaotic whenever they’re around each other.

Ranboo ; Praetereo — Demigod of memories

There is little to nothing known about Ranboo — not due to some expertly hidden truths, but rather because of his recent arrival to the celestial realm. Ranboo is the youngest of all the gods that inhabit Olympus, having recently found out about his celestial heritage. Although there are a few villages in the north that hold temples in Ranboo’s name, his name is merely an echo among men and myths.

Ranboo mostly keeps to himself, with the exception of his friendship with both Tommy and Tubbo. They’ve undoubtedly made his transition into this new life of his much swifter and easier on him. Had they not been there for him... he’s not sure how he would’ve handled it. After all, he used to be a mere blacksmith in a small village at the edge of a map — a life where gods seemed so powerful, so angelic, so... distant.

BONUS:

Philza — God of all gods

Philza is basically the father to most gods, and even to those he may not be related through blood, he still treats them as children of his own. While he’s kind and nurturing, he also tends to be rather distant — not by choice, but due to his status as a celestial being and the duties that come with it.

Mumza — Goddess of life and death

Not much is known about Mumza, other than she’s the mother of most gods that reside in Olympus. She’s thought to be the only god that doesn’t live with the others, and rather spends her days roaming the earth, guiding mortal souls into the afterlife. Not many gods get the chance to interact with her — but those that do, however, often describe her as a caring yet determined deity, always carrying the love she feels towards her family with her.

so basically: techno, wilbur, and dream are the eldest. niki and sapnap are the middle kids. tommy and tubbo are the youngest. ranboo is a demigod (who’s his godly parent, you ask? uh-). as for george he just... is.

The moment Katsuki realizes the harassment has entered dangerous territory and he needs to tell someone, it’s already too late.

When the Dorms are finally built, everyone is settling in well, but things become tense as people begin to realize something isn’t right with the recently rescued Bakugou.

hands down my favorite fic in the fandom right now. it’s the one that converted me into a Bakugou lover. if you have any fondness for Bakugou as a character then it’s likely you’ve read this one already, but if not, I can’t recommend it enough. incredibly depressing, but with the hope that comfort is coming soon in the next few chapters.

I rarely see mental health genuinely handled well in fics, but this one goes above and beyond. kudos to the author for doing such excellent research into psychology, and making the application of it in here not-boring. also, while this one does have abusive!Mitsuki, it’s done in a way that feels realistic, and how I usually will see it occur in real life, rather than just for the hurt/comfort feels.

fair warning, the fic can be incredibly triggering (themes of severe depression, PTSD, panic attacks, rape survival, abuse survival, suicidal ideation/attempted suicide, among other things), so be safe and heed the tw’s if you decide to read. legitimately one of my Top Favorite fics in this fandom.

Anyone in the underbelly of society would recognize him, after the publicity of both UA’s Sports Festival and the events leading up to All Might’s fall. The uniform he was wearing cast away any doubts about the young man’s identity.

It was a bit of a surprise that the little firecracker presented as an omega.

Or: there are certain types of evil that seemed too distant, archaic violations and perversions that would never actually threaten bright-eyed heroes-in-training in the clean, modern world...but sometimes those evils aren't as distant as one might think.

remember when I said that I love a/b/o fics that are full of plot and world-building and gender-induced tension? that’s this one. the OC’s are fabulous and you love to hate ‘em. also, it’s the fic that made me fall head-over-heels for the TodoBaku dynamic, so it’s got a special place in my cold, dead heart. 

be warned, there are rather explicit non-con scenes between an adult (OC) and a minor (Bakugou) in this one, but the author warns for them in advance, and you could likely skip those parts without missing too much if you need to.

Never and Always, Eventually by Wawa_Boonliang

Lessons Learned by Sif (Rosae)

Rather than the police station, Katsuki's friends bring him to a hospital after rescuing him from the villains. His wounds were minor, but it didn't make having them treated any less important. As it would so happen, Best Jeanist was also brought to this hospital after the attack.

Sometimes, small choices have a big impact on how a story plays out.

I have this AU idea that I’m going to call a Pair Swap AU. Basically, characters are grouped into pairs, then the relationship dynamics between all the pairs are swapped around. Then, it turns into a challenge to figure out how the new dynamic would work for each pair and what the resulting changes in backstory/personality/story would be. To make sure the characters aren’t completely warped, the rules are that neither their base personalities nor their unique magic should drastically change.

To start with, I’ll explore how the new dynamics for Kalim & Jamil and Jade & Floyd might work under the cut. If anyone’s interested in this, I’ll make more posts.

First off, just want to note that I am not going to try and fit the new story to the Disney movies, it is going to be based solely on how the backstory/personality changes might impact the original plot.

For Kalim and Jamil to be twins, one needs to be transferred to the other’s family, so we’ll turn Jamil into Jamil Al-Asim. Furthermore, in canon, Jade and Floyd’s twin dynamic specifically has them be equals without any concept of an older or younger brother, so for this AU Jamil and Kalim are also treated as equals. They are both considered the heirs of the family, and when they grow up it is expected that they either inherit the family business together or just choose 1 of them to inherit it.

Since Jamil isn’t forced to hold back for Kalim’s sake now, he can freely flaunt his talents. He consistently surpasses Kalim, which could lead to something like Farena & Leona’s situation where everyone fawns over Jamil but dismisses Kalim. However, given Jamil’s unique magic and his more abrasive behavior in canon post-chap4, maybe the servants + family become split, with some backing Jamil and his greater talent while others back Kalim and his greater approachability. Then we get a situation where they’re both subconsciously or consciously envious of the other, creating tension in their relationship beneath the surface level impression they give off of being twin brothers on good terms with each other.

At NRC, I think it could go either way on who’s the dorm leader and who’s the vice dorm leader depending on the previous guy’s criteria for choosing his replacement, but I think it’s more likely Jamil would get the top position even with Kalim putting more effort into improving his skills. For the new chapter 4, this could just turn into a role-swapped version of the canon one, but I’m digging the equality thing I have going on so I think it would be fun to have an even split in the dorm, the same as back home, where some people are just fine with Jamil being the dorm leader while other people think that Jamil is too unrelatable/scary and they want Kalim in the lead instead. This then leads to conflict between the twins, and around overblot time they both finally let loose their frustrations and how inferior the other has made them feel. The ending lesson/revelation is that they don’t have to let others drive a wedge between them and they don’t need to fight, so the aftermath is them beginning to work through all those years of conflict.

I wanted this arrangement of pairs + dynamics to be interesting but not overly hard to figure out, which is why Jade & Floyd as Android & Creator was the very first one I thought of. Since Floyd is canonically a genius and very fast learner, it’s not too much of a stretch for him to get good at robotics. Then, Jade’s butler-like behavior and skills translate well into him being an android created to handle stuff that Floyd doesn’t want to deal with.

In this AU, Floyd is now an only child (though maybe that wasn’t always the case ouo). I feel like he might have befriended Azul earlier and/or developed a more cautious/melancholy attitude due to the absence of his responsible partner in crime. When they go on land to attend NRC, electronics catch Floyd’s eye, and before he reaches winter break of their 1st year, Jade has come into existence. 

I don’t have the details fleshed out for Immortal Ortho & Idia, but I think I’ll keep Ortho as a kid, so Jade is also going to retain his 17 year old appearance. I feel like Jade would look less obviously robotic than Ortho, cause why make an android based on yourself if you’re not going to go all the way and give them the ability to completely impersonate you. Like canon Ortho, Jade isn’t registered as a student, so he can attend classes in place of Floyd without having his own classes/grades to maintain. He also can’t be vice dorm leader, so Floyd officially gets that position now. Jade is basically the honorary vice dorm leader though. 

I think they would still kind of be the same as in canon regarding working with Azul and stuff at Mostro Lounge, but there’s going to be subtle differences. For example, if Floyd is not basing Jade off of a dead brother, he might be more dismissive of Jade’s wants and feelings since Jade was made solely to serve him. On the other hand, if Jade IS Floyd’s dead brother, it’ll definitely be less straightforward. Floyd's existing chaotic nature + any additional temperamentalness due to lingering grief makes him difficult to predict. Would he be more awkward, not sure what to do now that he has Jade again? But it isn’t really Jade, is it. Unlike Idia who may have had a way to convert Ortho’s brain to digital data or something so the android Ortho is really his brother Ortho, the best Floyd can probably do is make an AI based on his fleeting memories of Jade. So, is this Jade? Can he even call this android by the name Jade? Is he forcing this completely new person to be someone who’s long dead?

I’m kind of torn on how the new story chapters are going to work. Characters are still in the same dorms as before, so do I keep the 1 dorm per chapter and focus on the dorm leader? Do I keep the 1 dorm per chapter but shift focus to the paired characters so I neglect Azul but show off the Leechs? Or do I completely mess around with the story, so chapter “3″ is still on Azul but I put in a new chapter somewhere for the Leechs? Idk. Anyone who has ideas to add onto this, feel free to add ‘em

Disclaimer: Please note I’m neither a psychologist, nor a psychiatrist nor an expert in mental health. Everything I’m writing here is based on some reading I’m currently doing on this topic and on some personal experiences.

Even though I’m really, really happy and my heart is exploding because most of the LIs FINALLY stopped treating our MC as a friend and began to treat them publicly as a significant other (because you’ve deserved it for a long, long time guys!), I know that those people who are romancing Ethan are actually hurt and mad because he seems to be pushing our MC away AGAIN. But what if I told you I’m beginning to see this as canon for him? Like he’s actually not pushing the MC away because he wants to but because he is showing a part of his personality or something that is a result of his experiences as a kid instead?

A few days ago, I found a psychology article about attachment and how self-sufficiency can be very negative when taken to the extreme. For some reason, the article really stuck with me because I had never heard something like that and because I might have felt that some of the stuff on it represented me, to the point that I talked to some psychologist friends because I wanted to know more about it. And after reading the latest Open Heart chapter, I couldn’t stop wondering “what if this is the actual reason why Ethan seems to be pushing the MC away? What if he doesn’t even realize what he’s doing?”

These are some excerpts from the article (the original one is in Spanish):

“Being excessively independent and self-sufficient is a sign of having suffered great disappointments, to the point that we feel that we cannot trust anyone but ourselves.”

Sounds familiar? Another one:

“[…] when we show ourselves to be hyper-independent -and we don’t resort to the help of third parties- we are actually revealing something deeper. Some defense mechanism to protect us against the eventual possibility of rejection, damage or suffering.”

And what do you think of this longer one?

“[…] as adults, [these children] stick with their careers and what they feel they can control. Deep and intimate relationships turn into threats. Being vulnerable is not an option, because if they are rejected […] they may find the loneliness they know well. When they grow up, people who create bonds from avoidant attachment find it difficult to recognize their own needs. They are extremely independent, they can do everything on their own, but they really fear not being good enough for others, and ultimately they fear rejection. They are adaptive people, who can even be very successful in a society, but when it comes to intimate relationships, it is difficult for them to overcome those barriers.”

And a bonus, just because I can’t leave this out:

“This hyper independence can be linked to traumatic situations, even unconsciously. These experiences can translate into greater difficulty when setting up a couple project or a work project, or when committing to someone or something. Because of course, committing also means showing yourself vulnerable.”

Did you read them all? These quotes have the name Ethan Ramsey written all over the place! All of them are from professional psychologists who based their opinions on the Maturational Processes and the Facilitating Environment: Studies in the Theory of Emotional Development by Donald Winnicott and on the Theory of Attachment by John Bowlby. Based on this theory, Ethan would be an avoidant attachment type of person. In very simple words, he is “someone who […] often sees himself as independent and able to ‘go it alone’. He often maintains strict boundaries, can be emotionally distant, and has a hard time opening up to their partners or making and keeping close relationships.”

So based on all of this, I think Ethan may not even notice that he’s pushing the MC away because that’s part of who he is. He is so used to solve everything by himself, to be independent and to not rely on anyone when he has a problem (because that’s how he has managed to survive all of his life), that even though the MC constantly tells him that he’s not alone anymore he has trouble processing the message. The fact that he is also an only child may have even helped to exacerbate this behavior because, as he has no siblings, he had no choice but to deal with things by himself (and here I’m talking from the experience, I was an only child until I was 14 and I left my parents’ home right after turning 18, so you can tell I know a thing or two about growing up on your own).

His relationship with his dad also had an effect on him. Alan even described Ethan as a perfect son for a single parent. He always did his homework, helped at home and worked during summer. And he even said he didn’t have to motivate Ethan to do anything, that he did all of that by himself. But then the article says: “Parents who generate avoidant attachments with their children are mostly caregivers who are not fully emotionally available to them and therefore are concerned that they function from autonomy. That makes the child act in a certain way, to try to attract or to please those unavailable dads.” So what if Ethan did all of this not only because he wanted to do it, but also because he was involuntarily trying to please his dad? The article adds: “It is not a lack of love [from the parents]; it has to do with the caregivers having difficulties on terms of affective connection, so these children learn to adapt and be complacent.”

Should we also analyze Ethan’s social skills? We all know he hates parties and having to socialize could be a nightmare for him. Do you remember that he became friends with Dolores just because she kept in touch with him and she was the one who invited him to have a coffee? Or how Naveen took him under his wing not only as his mentee, but also as his putative son and friend? Or more recently… have you ever noticed how he basically never mingles with our friends, especially in book 3? Have you ever seen him at Donahue’s talking to anyone but the MC and Reggie? Did you notice that during Ines’ wedding he wasn’t with Harper and Tobias, with Naveen or with Baz? He is always by himself!

Let’s move on to his romantic relationships. Besides the MC, the only relationship we know about is with Harper. Have you ever wondered how their relationship was? For some reason, I’ve always felt it wasn’t as serious for him (we don’t have her side of the story). Sure, he cares about her a lot, but he never loved her, even though they dated for a long time. In fact, when I hear him talking about his relationship with Harper, I kind of feel like the only reason they were dating was to keep each other company. Did they have plans as a couple? Did they ever live together? Did they meet each other families? Did they ever talk about marriage? Did he ever tell her he loved her? I have too many questions, but for some reason I think the answer to all of them is “no”.

Finally, have you noticed how focused he is on his job? And please let’s forget about Ethan in book 3 because we all know the MC is solving every single case… I mean… he must have been an intern or a resident when he wrote his book! Let’s also remember how he was obsessed with diagnosing Naveen in book 1 or how in book 2 he focused himself on helping as many patients as possible before Edenbrook’s closure. Of course, let’s add that the man is a perfectionist as well (do you remember when he was mortified and ashamed for misdiagnosing a patient ONCE?).

So yeah, I’m beginning to think that all of this is not about Ethan being mean to the MC and repeating the same story over and over again on purpose. Instead, I think it has to do with his personality as a character and with his childhood experiences. But of course, we all know there is no way that PB makes any reference to this, I just needed to get it off my chest (and to stay awake until 5:30 am writing this) because when I connected everything I was like "OMG!" 🤯

But knowing that this girl is constantly energetic and restless, Barbs agreed to let her help since he would not want to deal with her breaking some priceless antiques or getting herself in trouble with Devildom law again

She helps to remind him that it’s okay to be laidback once in a while and that he doesn’t need to be so uptight all the time

These two have an unusual friendship but it’s only good vibes all around ^^

Before she leaves the Devildom though, he would pretend that she actually managed to startle him with her last grand prank and the look on her face was worth his reputation taking a slight hit

I imagine life for Solomon would be quite lonely and he appreciates the constant joy and company that MC would provide him

These two adore each other so much but they would be caught DEAD before they would admit that to each other 🤭

Simeon

When they first met, Simeon was so happy to find a person so devoted to God such as MC

He takes it upon himself to become MC’s guardian angel around the Devildom

He would helicopter them for a while and would (reluctantly) back off if MC finds it a bit suffocating 

(don’t be mean MC, he just cares about u alot that’s all :( )

This man is capital P patient

I mean, that’s a given with him being an angel and all

But seriously,,, one has to be in awe at how calm and collected he is even when MC would pull pranks that would cause a normal person to wanna punch the living daylights out of her

Eventually she would feel bad and stop pulling these pranks on him though, he’s just too sweet and she can’t take advantage of that </3

They would be really close though (along with Luke) because he would frequently invite her to pray the 5 essential prayers together with Luke or read the Qur’an together and it’s just wholesome vibes all around man 🥺

As angels, him and Luke would have such beautiful recitations of the Qur’an and I can picture MC frequently dropping by Purgatory Hall just to listen to him recite the kalimahs with the perfect tajweed (Non-Muslims if you’d like to hear an example, check out Sheikh Mishary reciting Surah al-Kahf, it’s beautiful man 🥺)

He would frequently invite MC and Luke out for walks too and these three would look so domestic together people often mistake them as a little family (much to the brothers’ chagrin and Simeon’s amusement)

Simeon has such a calming presence that he could even tame a chaotic MC down and have her sit still enough, it will be as if she turned into a completely different person

He would have to physically drag her away before the demons could devour them both

He would be absolutely SHOOKETH at the language she used because she has been nothing but sweet and polite to him. It was like she switched into a whole different person right in front of his eyes

Luke: MC! I knew living with those horrid demons is a bad idea! They’ve corrupted you now!! *crying Luke noises*

He would definitely feel really touched that MC is so protective of him though, but he would have to tell her to never say those words again, even if she’s trying to protect him

She would (hesitantly) tell him she would try her best but that would literally only last for half a day because another demon has foolishly decided to mess with him with her present

In which you found out you were pregnant pre-petrification to your long time boyfriend NASA scientist, Xeno. However, when you told him the news, he wanted nothing to do with it because his top priority is his research. Hurt, you decided to find refuge and start anew in the country you have always wanted to live in, Japan. Post-petrification and Senku announced they'll be traveling to America. As you have lived there before, they took you and your one-year-old daughter along. Now, thousands of years later, you'll find yourself face to face with the man who had hurt you the most across the world.

"Hey, babe?" Your nervousness seeped out of your body and your trembling hands are the evidence.

"Yeah? Look, my mentee from Japan messaged me. Looks like he's building a rocket again. Hmmm. All he needs is niobium-alloy nozzle..." he replied, giving you his divided attention. Again.

"Uh, babe?" You said a little louder this time. Sensing your urgency, he sighed and faced you fully.

"What is it?"

"This may sound shocking but, I'm... pregnant," you finally announced, clutching at the hem of your shirt while you waited for his reply.

You know this is unexpected but he'll take responsibility, right? Right? But the nagging gut-feel inside you knows what his answer will be.

With a straight unforgiving face he replied,

"I don't want it."

Remember that pain. Remember the hardships you went through. Remember how you wanted to go far away from the man that hurt you the most. Remember how he never contacted you even a year later. Remember how he didn't even ask for your child- the daughter he never got to meet.

Your daughter, oh God, your daughter! Never forget the way her eyes glimmer when she's with you. Never forget the smiles and giggles she reserves for you. Never forget how she nuzzled you on her first birthday. Never forget the time when you are taking her for a walk near a high school and suddenly you saw a blinding light which rendered you motionless.

Remember those memories again and again. Don't you ever dare forget any little details. No matter how much time passes, always remember.

Suddenly, you feel something cracking. And for the first time in what feels like forever, you can see the light. Your eyes widened when you see trees surrounding you. Not only that but the stone that seemed to cover your body begin to crumble. Little by little, you are gaining back your motility, and you have never felt so refreshed.

When you are finally free, you stood with shaking legs while scanning the area. Where are you? Are you still in Japan? How many years have passed?

Then, something hits you. Where is your daughter? Oh my god! Where is she? She couldn't be separated from you right? You have held her tightly when you saw that light. Panic and worry surged through you and you were about to set out and find her when you heard a familiar song.

Snapping your attention to where the noise came from, you realized that it was the lullaby you have always sang to your daughter, Xenka. Your feet had already started moving before you can register anything.

Alas, there in the middle of the forest, your daughter sat in front of a bonfire, grilling what appeared to be mushrooms. Taken a back, you only stared in shock when Xenka finally looked at you and the widest grin you have ever seen has graced her little face.

"Mama! You're back!"

You can't still wrap around the fact that your one-year-old daughter is facing you right now while talking about what she thought happened. Yes, your lovely Xenka who has not even said her first word before is now talking and had even made her own fire. Plus, she said she has been surviving for a week on her own.

"Sweetie, tell mama what happened when you're still a sto-"

"Mama, the perfect term is petrified! I told you I saw it in the dictionary, right?" your daughter pouted while crossing her chubby arms.

You chuckled. This situation is absurd but what can you expect from Xeno's blood daughter?

"Right, right. I apologize. Xenka-chan what happened to you when you are petrified?"

"I remembered I was really scared, mama! But you hugged me and told me to remember. But, I don't know what you meant so I remembered and studied again the words you taught me. I even memorized the books that I used to play with," she started. Well, what you were trying to say was that she has to remember that you love her. And the books she mentioned were from your roommate who is a researcher in the field of astrophysics and chemistry. You can also remember how Xenka used to scan your biology books.

You are surprised to hear that she basically became a genius over time. But to be honest you are not that surprised. She is Xeno's daughter after all.

A slight pang hit your chest when bitter memories started to fill your mind. As sudden as those memories come, they instantly go away when you feel your daughter sitting on your lap and cuddling you.

"I miss you so much, mama! You didn't hug me back when I awoke!" Her cries echoed through the vast forest and you can't help but to tear up also.

Your biggest fear is the thought that you lost her. Fortunately, your daughter is smart enough to survive on her own even just for a week. You cried with her as relief washed over you.

She must have been so afraid of being alone. And so, you let her wail for hours. It's alright, after all she's still a child. You held her close while whispering words of reassurance that from now on, you won't be separated anymore.

Once the two of you calmed down, Xenka reported that she saw what appears to be a tower when she was scouting the area. And with that, the two of you began your journey. But first, you have to make DIY clothes or else you'll walk in naked if there really is people around.

The stone statues that litter the forest is a little creepy. It reminded you of that village in Japan famous for their stone statues. It took you a day to finally arrive at your destination. That must mean that Xenka has wandered far from where you were depetrified.

To your utter shock, a big ship is what greeted you upon entering the village. What the heck? You feel your daughter squirm in your arms wanting to be set down. You obliged and followed her when she suddenly ran to the direction of the ship.

The nearer you got, the more you see that there are a lot of people gathered around. Hope blooms in your chest as you know now that you and your daughter will survive seeing as they have this kind of resources.

A group of people went down the ship and the villagers seemed to buzz with excitement. I was about to grab Xenka so we can introduce ourselves but to my surprise, she's already in front of a young man with white hair that turns green in the tips. That reminded you of a leek which Xenka hates.

"Eh? Whose kid are you?" the man said while picking on his ear.

You sighed and hurried to walk beside your daughter. Upon seeing you, everyone erupted to loud whispers, questioning your identity. Some people from the ship even took a defensive stance and had their weapons at the ready. You suddenly felt scared and the young man sighed.

"Oi, what the heck are you doing?" He scolded his friends.

"We don't know her. She could be an enemy. Protect the chief. Rules are rules," the tall man with glasses replied.

"I am ten billion percent sure that she's not. If I deduce it correctly, you have been depetrified on your own, right?" You nodded and then his eyes trained on the little girl who has already taken a bottle from his bag.

You tried taking it from her but it's too late as she poured it on your left big toe that still remained as stone. The two of you watched in wonder when it cracked and revealed your smooth skin.

You watched as your daughter crossed her index and middle fingers as she mulls over something. This scene is painfully familiar as it is also the same mannerism as her dad's when he's too deep in his work.

Like a light bulb suddenly lit up, the crease on her little brows smoothened.

"I see now. That concoction smells like nitric acid with ethanol. The place where mama and I laid had a cave that gave nitric acid from bats but it is now gone. I thought that it is one of the factors for depetrification. However, you have more bottles with it that means you have a continuous supply of those two."

Her lengthy explanation has not just amazed me but everyone around the area. Some even had their mouths hanging open.

"What the? How did she know that?"

"But she looks like she isn't even a year old!"

"Woah! That's crazy!"

You can't help but be proud as the villagers scream from disbelief. That's your daughter alright! Even if her intelligence didn't come from you. But she did came from you.

"Kukuku! You're not just an ordinary kid, right? Then answer my next question. We have no source of Nitric Acid as the cave has been destroyed. What mineral will make the production of Nitric acid possible?" He tested her with a smirk in his face.

However, your daughter also showed a similar smirk and faced him on, "Huh, easy! It would be platinum!"

He grinned and outreached his hand to her, "My name is Senku."

You see your daughter's eyes widen and you can see why. Someone who has almost the same name as her and a genius at that too?! Who wouldn't be surprised.

"Senku-niisan, I am Xenka! And that is my mother, Y/n," she introduced while pointing at me, "please let us stay here. I can help you with your work and mama can treat people. She's a nurse!"

The young man, Senku, looked at you and grinned, "Well first, you two need some clothes. Yuzuriha, take care of them,"

It has been a few months now since you joined the Kingdom of Science. You are still at awe at how Sengku managed to build everything from scratch with the help of these young people.

It is also crazy how your daughter fits in the science team so easily. The gaps in her knowledge is easily supplied by Senku and the two grew even more closer. She really views him as her older brother. At this point, the two are inseparable. They even finish each other's sentences at times.

But the craziest of it all is that, you are now entering San Francisco California in the ship they made. You never thought that you'll go back to where you used to live. However, this is one of Senku's plan to go to the moon and you all need the corn here.

Apparently, they needed you because 1. you are a nurse and 2. you know the geography of the place- well at least from 3700 years ago. Also, your daughter has decided to go so you really had no choice.

It has been a few days since Perseus docked here. A few nights ago, Senku was shot and you have been tending him. Apparently, there's another Kingdom of Science here in America. It surprised the lot of you since they are already advanced in terms of weaponry but you believed that your team can handle it. They already have a plan to take their leader.

And now you are in a quest to find your patient who was out of his bed when you checked a few minutes ago. Little Xenka is even crying because she didn't know where her oniisan went to.

You are also silently fuming because you specifically told him to rest so his sutures won't break. Suddenly, you are being dragged. You were about to fight back (Kohaku taught you basic self-defense) but when you see the dazzling suit of the butler, yoi sighed in relief.

"Where are we going, Francois?" you asked.

"They seized their leader and we are going to escape. Senku still needs you to tend his wounds," upon hearing Senku's name, Xenka immediately stopped crying.

"I hope he's okay," she mutters while you tightened your hold on her.

"Don't worry, sweetie. We'll make sure to scold your oniisan, okay?" You tried cheering her up and it works. You wonder what's gearing up in that little big mind of hers.

The three of you made your way to a smaller boat that looked like a yacht. You guessed that they hijacked it from the enemies. Without wasting a second, you and your daughter roamed from room to room for your leek-y boy.

You and your daughter's annoyance grew the farther you searched and alas, only one cabin remained. You and Xenka looked at each other and nodded. Without further ado, you kicked the door open, startling the two people in the room. However, the two of you are focused on Senku that you didn't even realize a man was standing beside him.

"You brat! What did I say about taking a rest?! If you want to bleed badly you can just say so!" You nagged at him while Xenka pouts and glares at him.

"Xenka is upset oniisan! You said you'll never leave my side!" she said and refrained looking at the boy.

"Y-y/n?"

Suddenly, it felt like a bucket of ice-cold water is poured on you. Even thousands of years have passed, you still remember that voice. It's the one that whispered sweet words in your ear at three in the morning but broke you in the end.

"Mama? What's wrong?" You felt two warm hands touch your cheeks but your gaze snapped and remained at the other man in the room.

"Xeno," you breathed.

Suddenly, a burst of memories that you had together appeared on your mind like a broken record. The first day you met, the day he asked you to be his girlfriend, the first time you kissed and made love, and then the last time you have seen each other. You realized you had so many happy memories together but it took less than ten minutes for it to shatter.

"Y/N, I-"

"I don't want to hear it," you said and was about to go out of the room but Xenka squirmed wanting to be out down. You hesitantly obliged.

She went in front of Xeno. The two stared at each other. White hair to white hair. Black eyes to (e/c). Indeed, looking at them like this just enhanced how they look so much alike.

Xenka crossed her middle and index finger which made Xeno surprised. You know he already knows who this child is. You're even sure that Senku must have known this the moment we entered the room or even way before that.

"I see, so you're my father. Based on mama's reactions and how you're not in my life, Xenka's 10 billion percent sure that you never wanted me," her little voice broke and it made your heart clench in hurt.

"Well, if you don't want us, Mama and Xenka don't want you either!!" She screamed and ran out of the room. Without hesitation, you followed the little girl out after glaring at Xeno.

You know that your daughter is hurt right now and she needs you the most. You find her hiding in one of the lower rooms. The sight shattered your heart and you immediately went to crush her in your embrace. This only made her cry more. Even at this young age, she understands what's happening. And for the first time, you wished she's an ordinary one-year-old.
