After defeating Pariah Dark, Phantom -High King of the Infinite Realms- joins the JL or YJL.
Danny is a great addition to the team, he’s surrounded by other people with powers (even if they didn’t have to die to get them), he doesn’t have to hide who he is. Nobody is hunting him anymore. The Anti-Ecto acts have been abolished and so has the GIW. He can still help people but the pressure isn’t just on him anymore. His parents accept him. Danny is happy.
But one day, one fateful day…
Pariah rises again.
The magic users are scrambling. The JL and YJ are frantic. Danny is…
Pretty calm, actually. A little annoyed, perhaps.
That kinda tracks. He’s the high king of the infinite realms and all the dead. He’s defeated Pariah before- and now he’s older, more experienced, with a team that he’s never had before. He’s explored his powers and authority to an extent his past self could only dream of.
So when Pariah Dark, former Tyrant of the Dead, storms the watchtower where the heroes have gathered, they’re a little off-put by it but ready to defend their home with all their might- a newfound confidence from Phantom’s nonchalance.
But who would’ve guessed that Pariah Dark, former Tyrant of the dead, would ask Phantom..
If he could adopt him?
Danny guessed, it seemed.
“No.” Danny glared at him.
“I can give you-“
“I don’t want anything from you, you frootloop. Piss off.” Danny said pointedly, tapping his foot impatiently.
“I can offer you wisdom to lead your kingdom that you won’t find anywhere else!” Pariah said exasperated, waving his arms around.
“I don’t want a tyrant’s advice.” Danny sneered. The rest of the heroes exchanged glances. This certainly wasn’t on anybody’s bingo card.
“Alright, that’s fair, but-“
“Ive been ruling my kingdom just fine. Piss off.” Danny jabbed a finger at him. “I will eat your core if you ask again.” Pariah paled, (as much as a ghost could), then grumbled about getting him eventually before finally, finally leaving in a swirling, neon green portal.
Danny left in one of his own, after bidding goodbye to the rest of them. Nobody wanted to ask what that was about. He seemed pissed.
.
A little while later, the heroes finally got around to processing what exactly happened that morning.
The.. former king of the dead, known tyrant, the one who Danny defeated.. came back to ask??? If he could adopt Danny???? Again???? As in he tried asking before????????
There was much pandemonium for the heroes that fateful day.

Why Didn't You Tell Me (Part 7)
Previous | Masterpost | Next
Danny managed to wait the whole week before he made it back to his lab, giving his contraptions time to filter as much ecto as they were going to. He loped over the rooftops of crime alley in his suit, jumping from one roof to the other, enjoying the feeling of weightlessness and getting to stretch his legs again. He didn’t go back to ground level till he was at the warehouses, hitting the ground running out of eagerness more then urgency.
He slammed the door behind him and gave a breathless giddy little laugh, nearly jumping out of his skin when it banged open again behind him. He spun around and only relaxed slightly when he saw that it was Red Hood storming into the lab after him. Only slightly because he looked Annoyed.
“What broke?” Danny asked, braced and ready to repair whatever it was. He just hoped it was Broken and not Failed, he would feel awful if one of Jason’s gadgets had failed on him when he needed it.
“You! What do you know about this Thing that’s been following me around!?” Jason demanded, making a grab at something? Oh! George! Who avoided Jason’s grab by pure luck and then bumbled over to Danny who held out his hands and let George drop down into them, trilling and chittering, telling Danny all about what it had been up to probably. They were bigger then they had been last time Danny had seen them. “What is it and Why has it been following me?!” Jason demanded angrily.
“It’s called a blob ghost, they’re harmless little filter feeders, nothing to worry about. They’ve probably been following you because of the Lazarus water in your system. Have you been feeling any calmer since they started following you?” Danny asked curiously as George puddled in his hands purring, apparently they had missed him, which was very touching.
“I’ve felt annoyed about having a weird unknown blob following me is what I’ve felt!” Jason snapped, before pausing for a moment, his shoulders unclenching reluctantly. “But the Pit Madness has been a bit more manageable,” he admitted.
“Oh good,” Danny started before George peeped, drawing Danny’s attention back to them. His eyes widened when he saw George squirming and… pulling? He panicked for a moment, wondering what was horribly wrong before a smaller version of George popped off and rolled away through the air before Danny caught them too. George was back to their original size and now there was another, significantly smaller little ghost. “It seems like being around you has been good for them too if they’re reproducing,” Danny chuckled.
“They must have been feeding off of the Lazarus water, so if you feel better what’s the harm in them following you? Have they been getting in the way?”
“No not really,” Jason said, the modulator in his helmet the only thing that was saving him from sounding sulky.
“Great! I named this one George, do you want to name the new baby?” Danny asked, holding the smaller one out towards Jason, who hesitantly held out his own hands letting Danny basically pour it into his palms, squishing George affectionately. They had seemed a bit unsettled by the mitosis but now they were calm again, back to purring in Danny’s hands.
“Uhhh Blobert?” Jason said like it was a question and Danny bit back a laugh.
“Sounds perfect,” He said once he got his tone under control, though judging by the well telegraphed glare Jason gave him he still knew Danny was laughing inside. “Did you need anything else?”
“Ya,” Jason said swinging his bag off his shoulder. He tensed for a moment when Blobert settled on his shoulder like an odd bird and then dug one of his specialty guns out of his bag. “Got broke in a fight a couple days ago.”
“Alright, I’ll fix it. I hope it didn’t leave you in a bad spot,” Danny said, putting George down on his shoulder before taking the weapon and turning it over in his hands trying to see how it was broken.
“Nah, and it wasn’t its fault. Sometimes when I run out of amo I just throw the gun, it knocked the goon out but it also knocked the gun pretty bad,” Jason said rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly.
Danny snorted and shook his head. “Ya, well that makes sense. Still, don’t worry I’ll fix it. Come back in a few hours okay? I left some experiments running I want to check on but then I’ll have a look at the gun. It shouldn’t take me too long.”
“Right, thanks. I’ll try not to throw it again. I forgot this wasn’t one I could just replace,” Jason admitted, sounding a bit sheepish. It was easy to forget that he was still a teenager too, just 5 years older than Danny.
“Don’t worry about it. I can just fix it, it’s the least I can do for you getting me this space,” He promised as he gently shooed Jason out of his lab again. He was eager to see how much ectoplasm his collectors had gotten and he knew Jason wouldn’t like to be here when he did. George stayed with Danny and Blobert went with Jason.
Once the door was closed and locked after Jason Danny rushed over to the first of his collectors. He pulled out the collector and grinned to himself when it Did have some green, glowing goo at the bottom. When he swirled it he confirmed that it was thicker then the Lazarus water, smelled much better too. He put the first collector down on the table, and shooed George away from it before going to collect the others.
The fan did make a difference, the ones with a fan collected more than the ones without, that was good to know. Currently the 3rd prototype had collected the most and all of them had collected more than he had honestly expected. Gotham must have a decent amount of ambient ecto! He took his notes and poured all four of the collectors into one jar before replacing the collectors and mixing around the collectors. He wanted to make sure the location wasn’t making a difference, he’d check again in another week.
When he turned back around George had it’s face stuck in the jar the ecto was stored in, stretching down and wiggling to try and reach the ecto. He had to laugh, coming back over he gently pulled George out before grabbing a little tray and pouring some ecto into it, which the little blob immediately faceplanted into. Danny chuckled and smiled at the blob, glad to finally know what to feed them basically.
He sniffed at the jar again and stared down into the swirling green. He had been neglecting to consume Lazarus Water as often as he should because he really had started to resent this. He really wanted to try this stuff, maybe it wasn’t smart, he should have done more tests but… He lifted the jar to his lips and tilted it back quickly.
It was nothing like Lazarus water, it moved in his mouth like something alive but it tasted like the air after a rain and cool, iron rich water. It was much more pleasant. He swallowed it and shuddered as it slithered down his throat, his next exhale was frost cold but he could feel it warming his insides, comforting and energizing! That hit him all at once, he felt like he could bounce off the walls, he felt like he could float! The weakness and headache from lack of consuming it was gone and he felt like he needed to go for a run.
He set the jar down abruptly, shook out his arms and jumped up and down three times, rolled his head on his neck and took a deep breath. He didn’t feel bad, he wasn’t changing, he felt great actually! Which might also be a bad sign if this was going to be like a drug. Then again he was already dependent on Lazarus water, if this kept him going as long then what was the difference really.
“Okay,” He muttered to himself and capped the jar of ecto and shoved it in his safe. He wanted to do more experiments with that but when he had more, and had a proper collection system made up.
He wanted to work on a sensor again so that he cold start touring Crime Ally for the best places to set up his finished prototype but first, Jason’s gun. He stood at his work bench as he checked it out because he wasn’t ready to sit down.
As he diagnosed the issue George finished with the bit of ecto Danny had given him and bumbled over to the safe. When they bumped into it and realized they couldn’t get in to get at the rest of the ecto they chattered grumpily before giving up and wandering over to Danny. He hurried to pull up a stool and sit down so George could settle in his lap, and was pleased when the little blob did just that.
Jason’s gun wasn’t that hard to fix, only one part needed to be replaced and the rest just needed to be adjusted and re-calibrated. Once it was finished he set it aside to give it back to Jason whenever he returned and pulled a pile of parts towards him to start tinkering with a sensor. He had an idea how to make it, it would just be a matter of fussing with the sensitivity till it could detect the trace amounts in the air. They were working with parts per million here after all.
He would need to treat the entire thing with ectoplasm too probably but that involved getting up, which he wasn’t willing to do with George on his lap. He did as much as he could and then pushed that away from him as well and, with a resigned little groan, pulled some homework out of the bag he’s brought with him. It was the last thing he wanted to do but it was the only thing that needed to get done within reach and if he didn’t do something he was going to fall asleep.
Jason found him sitting at the desk having finished the majority of his homework an hour later, but at least as soon as he opened the door George sprung of Danny’s lap to go see him so Danny could finally get up. He stretched and picked up the fixed gun as George spun around Jason chirping at him and greeted Blobert. Jason seemed more relaxed around them then he had been before at least. Though being followed by an unknown creature like that would probably freak anyone out.
“All fixed and ready to go,” Danny said as he handed it to Jason. “Try not to throw it this time,” he joked before going back to his desk to pack up. “But if you do break it again text me okay? I might not be back for a week, the family is worrying about me but I’ll come if you need me,” He said glancing up at Jason to see him nod before slinging his bag over his shoulder and putting his helmet back on for the trip back through the alley.
“Alright and Danny?” Danny paused and looked up at Jason, even with both their helmets on he could see Jason was nervous. “If they find out, if you need a place to stay, call me okay? I have safe houses all over the alley and a few outside of it. I can find you a place.”
Danny blinked behind his mask, surprised and touched by the offer. Jason had never acknowledged him as family because he had rejected all of the Wayne’s, but he was offering family to Danny, if he really needed it. “Thank you, Jason,” Danny said softly with a smile evident in his voice. “That’s very comforting to hear, I appreciate it.”
“Right. Good. Now get out of here, you’ve got school tomorrow,” Jason grumbled and stomped out.
Danny chuckled and followed Jason up, locking up while he got a head start and then heading back towards the manor, where he had time to finish his homework before bed.
----------
The next day Danny joined Tim in the lab after school, and was touched to see that all of the Lazarus experiments had already been cleared away. Tim looked up at him and looked relieved Danny was finally back, Danny smiled at him a little awkwardly and approached the desk to ask Tim what he was working on. That was all the encouragement Tim needed to launch into an explanation of all he’d been working on and all Danny had missed, it was nice. Danny and Tim bounced ideas off each other on how to solve a couple issues Tim had run into and how to make it better. It was nice, it felt natural, there were a few things Danny pointedly couldn’t mention but still, it was good to spend some actual quality time with his brother.
He was working on a new patent for WE and Danny had to chuckle a little because Bruce was constantly trying to find ways of getting rid of all the money they had. Charity, building projects, college and university tuitions, whatever he could think of! And at the same time Tim just couldn’t stop churning out new patents that made them more money, and Danny thought that he would be the same when he was a little older, when he could stop keeping his research a secret.
Yes, his main goal was to figure out the Lazarus water, and build a portal, but he hoped he would be able to help his family along the way.
Alfred had to come to get them when it was time for dinner but he had a slight smile on his face even as he scolded them for losing track of time. Danny thought Alfred mut be glad to see them spending time together. Tim scurried off to have a shower and Danny followed Alfred down to the kitchen to set the table since he had missed helping with dinner. It was only slightly a comfort that Alfred also had to go collect Bruce for dinner. Damian and Cass arrived perfectly on time, of course.
They all sat in their normal seats, and quickly noticed that Bruce wanted to say something. He got this look on his face, a slight pinch to his lips when he wanted to say something but didn’t know how, or was afraid to. The best way to make him spit it out was not to cover for him, so an awkward silence descended over the table as they all ate and waited for Bruce, who had yet to open his mouth even to eat.
“I’ve scheduled therapy, two sessions next week, Danny Tuesday, Damian Thursday,” Bruce said, apparently deciding blunt was best. “Directly after school, whoever you want will take you.”
“What why?!” Damian said leaning forward and slamming his hands on the table. “There’s nothing wrong with us!”
“No Damian that’s not what he means,” Danny said quickly, resting a hand on Damian’s arm. “I was the one who suggested therapy. I asked for it, I just mentioned maybe you should too since we grew up the same way and I know how it’s affecting me.”
Damian yanked his arm away looking at Danny with hurt and betrayal. “Then why didn’t you talk to me about it?! Either of you!” He demanded, looking back and forth between Bruce and Danny.
“We’re talking about it now,” Danny said spreading his hands playactingly. “We’re all going to go, Bruce and Tim agreed to go with me, I’m sure either would go with you too. Or Dick if we call him!”
“No! I don’t want anyone to come with me! I don’t want therapy! I don’t need therapy! There is nothing wrong with Me!” The implication that there was something wrong with Danny was left unsaid.
Danny didn’t even try to hide his hurt at that and Damian recoiled, from Danny’s hurt and from this entire situation. He pushed himself back from the table and bolted upstairs leaving a truly awkward silence at the table. Cass gave Danny a sympathetic look and Bruce a gently accusatory one before silently getting up from the table and shadowing Damian upstairs.

I sighed and leaned back onto the chair provided as the family argued in front of me, Nightwing seemed very untrusting of me which was sad but to be expected, Jason however was valiantly defending my honour saying that it calmed down the pit rage. I really need to look into these pits, both because they’re clearly ectoplasm of some sort and also yum.
I watched them argue back and forth but when Jason didn’t try to kill any of them or storm away (poor guy really needs to get his system cleaned) they seemed to accept that what I had done had worked, they also did a few blood tests and with some assurance that I knew how to take non dangerous levels of blood they left it alone.
Jason turned around to talk to me but I was already in mist form to watch his reaction, he gave a smal sigh and muttered something about asking him to do that more often, ooh, good. I flew through the layers of stone and walked to Arkham Asylum to see Jazz, she’d moved there as a psychologist and apparently had the longest streak of staying alive or sane as one, weird.
A guy with a face full of clown makeup skipped happily down the street and everyone turned their gazes away and not say anything, Gotham truely does reminds me of home but with more crime and more normal stuff, like nice normal clowns instead of freakshow or ghost clowns.
I walked into the asylum “Hi! I’m here to see Jazz!” I said, he glanced at me and then my teeth and claws
“Poor Jasmine, if you kidnap her can you set it up to look like Joker? I’ve got money riding on him.” the guy asked, I gave him a look and went to where Jazz was, waiting until some guy with an impressive nose walked out of the room
“Danny!” she cried as the ran over and hugged me
“Jazz!” I said back “Have you heard about the Bats?” I asked
“I’m Jokers therapist, I know about them.” Jazz said and I laughed
“Okay so here’s the story
I walked down the street sipping my ecto, it’s blood red was kind of disorientating but whatever, better than having to pay for food. Suddenly two guys jumped me! I sighed and kept drinking, I punched the first guy into a wall a bit harder than I intended to but he’d be fine, the second guy I knocked out easily, and the third guy tripped me but I caught myself by flying and tripped him up then gave him a purposely harder punch which winded him, no need to knock my lunch out of my hands.
I turned around to pick up my thermos and saw Batman, BATMAM. Look, maybe hissing then turning into mist and flying at him to get it might not have been the smartest choice, but I don’t have fully human instincts anymore so there was no fear stopping me and no one in the world needs any more sources of ecto, and I had spent hours tinkering around with that so it filtered ecto from the atmosphere just right no way was I doing that again!
Anyways, he thought I was a vampire so I decided, giw are after me so I decided to be a vampire, I got jumped about a week later. I’m living in the Bat cave.” I said
“Are they treating you right?” Jazz asked, I nodded “I have a story too. I’m liminal, we all know this, anyways, I saw this lady whos on greyscale and could be from the victorian era. So I met Lady Gotham!” Jazz said “She’s cool.”
“Oh awesome, I left some gifts for her when I moved in. She said I could live here but I only met her that once.” I admitted
“Good.” Jazz said with a nod “Listen to what Frostbite and Clockwork teach you about Ghost etiquette.”
“There’s this guy who has really good tasting ectoplasm too, it’s fermented and in his blood.” I mentioned, Jazz blinked
“Huh. What do you think of him?” she asked
“He’s strong, keeps mentioning ‘pit rage’ I think these pits are old ectoplasm, good ectoplasm, it’s delicious.” I said
“Is this guy Red Hood? Lady Gotham mentioned him, he died and got revived by a pit of ectoplasm, but he didn’t come back as a ghost, just the same human as before, so the ectoplasm is keeping him alive but he’s probably makes way too much for a human to filter.” Jazz suggested “He was probably frustrated about something, and then it amplified that frustration which led to more frustration and anger which got amplified, creating a positive feed back loop. He probably has no control over the anger now though.” Jazz said, I knew enough about coding from listening to Tucker to know what a positive feedback loop was.
“Huh, poor guy.” I said, Jazz nodded solemnly when there was a knock on the door and the gruff voice of someone who’s seen some stuff
“Your next patient Ms Fenton.” he said
“Bye Jazz!” I said and I walked out.

Dannymay 2024, now with kitty paws!
Prompts from my AU, also in AO3
Day 18: Revenge
There was a frown in the face of the halfa while he looked at his target. Danny was in the middle of a forest in human form, his hands were holding a thermos filled to the brim with ghosts and, just a few meters from him, there was a white building that seemed very out of place in this wild forest.
A week ago, some yetis from the Far Frozen had come to him asking for his aid. The Far Frozen were one of the few ghost tribes that were friendly towards him, maybe because the form he had when he met them was that of a cat made of ice. Because Danny cared a lot about the people and ghosts he considers friends, he agreed to help.
When Danny reached the Far Frozen, in the form of a green cat with an aurora borealis as a tail, he found not only the yetis but also Pandora, Skulker, Ember, Poindexter, Johnny and Kitty. Danny didn’t know why all the other ghosts were there, though he didn’t mind it and waited to find out what they needed him for.
The information they got from Poindexter made everyone angry. The sepia ghost had witnessed some weak ghosts being captured by the government ghost hunters, and got extremely worried after overhearing what the agents planned to do with the ghosts captured. Besides, the agents also bragged that they had done even worse experiment in other ghosts but they faded before they could get the information they needed to destroy them
All the ghosts in the meeting wanted to storm out to the GIW base and destroy everything in revenge. Danny agreed but knew that there was a high chance that many ghosts would be hurt in their charge because they might have ecto-scanners that would warn them of the incoming attack.
Danny didn’t want any of his friends to be hurt, and luckily, he was able to calm them down before they stormed out of the meeting. He told them of a way he could get them close enough that the scanners would be useless and their surprise attack and rescue would be successful.
That's why Danny was currently in his human form just beside the GIW base with all his allies in the thermos. The scanners would not be able to detect him in human form and the thermos made it impossible for the scanners to be aware of the ghosts inside.
Seeing that it was time, Danny let the ghosts out. There were many warriors from the Far Frozen, Pandora had sent a hundred of her own warriors, Skulker, Ember, Johnny and Kitty had joined in the attack force as well. Poindexter was not good at fighting so he stayed behind to help in healing anyone they rescued in their attack.
Before attacking, Danny transformed into his ghost form. Sometimes, his random cat forms were in tune with his needs and feelings. Danny needed a lot of strength to endure the painful weapons the GIW used, and he was angry. Very angry.
The form he got made even his allies take a second look and his frenemies were glad that they never had to fight against that particular form.
From the trees, a giant feline appeared. Its size towered over the trees and its three skeletal heads, with dark holes as eyes, were filled with sharp fangs. Its body was covered in rotting flesh and one could easily see some parts with bones sticking out. The huge form looked like an undead cat cerberus coming from the underground itself to drag the sinners back.
“ROOAAARRR!” a head roared in challenge to the ghost hunters in the building.
“NYA!” another head wanted to have fun with the agents. It was a very sadistic head.
“HISSS!” the last head promised pain to all their enemies.
After the three war cries that sounded at the same time were done, Danny charged with all the other ghosts following behind him.
It was time for revenge.

Worry
ectoberhaunt2023 day 24- science fandom- dp x dc TW- none summary- Sam and Tucker have been trying desperately to locate Danny
ao3 ectoberhaunt masterlist part 6 of SIANT
“Have you found anything yet?” Sam asked, leaning over Tucker's shoulder.
Tucker scowled. “I’ve broken into their system and found a list of facilities. But I don’t know where they’re keeping him.”
“Well work faster!”
“I’m trying! What do you think I’m doing? Do you think I want him to be stuck with those monsters!”
Sam stepped back, clenching her teeth and breathing, trying to dissipate anger. “No. I’m sorry. I’m just worried.”
Tucker sighed, “We both are. But we need to stay calm. Fighting each other won’t help.”
“I know.”
Sam went over and sat on Tucker’s bed. She hated that there wasn’t anything she could do. They couldn’t even leave town! The GIW had put up surveillance all over town and made it nearly impossible to leave town, all with Mayor Masters approval.
And Ellie…
Tucker had gotten the notification that her ecto-signature had been spotted near town. They had grown concerned when she didn’t come visit, and Danny wasn’t answering his phone. So, they had decided to track Ellie down.
All they had found was a puddle of green goop and signs that a tire tracks in the grass.
They had gone to Danny’s house after that, frantic and in tears. But Danny wasn’t home and Jazz didn’t know where he was either. With trepidation they checked the lab, but it was empty.
He might be in the Realms, but with the discovery of Ellie… they were worried.
When two days had passed with nothing, they could only assume the worst.
After that, they had focused on finding GIW facilities. Sam had said she’d search the area where they found Illie again but when she tried to leave town she was stopped by the GIW.
Agent O had claimed that residents were required to have a permit in order to leave town, and they had the paperwork to prove it. Sam had stormed off.
She had, of course, tried different ways out of town but each time she had only gone a little bit out of town she was confronted with GIW agents.
She had finally had to stop when they had threatened to arrest her with no chance for bail if she tried to leave again.
That left them with only Tucker’s hacking skills, and as impressive as they were, it had still taken him several hours to break into the servers and then even longer to find any relevant information. The situation wasn’t helped by the fact that Tucker had to be constantly fighting attempts to get him out of the system, and as soon as he left his computer to sleep or eat he’d have to start from the beginning. And there were only so many energy drinks someone could take before their body forced them to sleep.
It had been a week now. A week where Danny was probably trapped with those monsters.
He might already be… No. They’d find him, and they’d help him heal from whatever it was they were doing to him.
They’d find him.
They had to.

Crossover of GHOSTBUSTERS and GREMLINS
Story Outline: "Ghostbusters: Clamp Corners Chaos"
Act 1: The Calm Before the Storm
1. Welcome to Clamp Corners
The film opens with a serene introduction to the quirky town of Clamp Corners, owned by the eccentric billionaire Daniel Clamp. The camera pans over the town's unusual attractions and slow-paced, idyllic lifestyle, establishing the setting.
2. The Ghostbusters Arrive
The Ghostbusters—Dr. Peter Venkman, Dr. Raymond "Ray" Stantz, Dr. Egon Spengler, and Winston Zeddemore—receive a call about strange occurrences in Clamp Corners and arrive in the iconic Ecto-1. They are greeted with a mix of curiosity and apprehension from the locals.
Peter flirts with a waitress at the local diner, while Ray enthusiastically explores the town's supernatural folklore. Egon discusses the scientific aspects of the paranormal, and Winston keeps the team grounded.
3. Meeting Daniel Clamp
The Ghostbusters are invited to meet Daniel Clamp, the eccentric billionaire owner of Clamp Enterprises. Clamp pitches his latest venture: a grand entertainment complex that will showcase exotic creatures, including Mogwai.
Billy and Kate Peltzer, who work for Clamp, express their concerns about the potential dangers of the Mogwai. They warn the Ghostbusters about the rules governing the creatures, but Clamp dismisses their worries, convinced the exhibit will be a success.
4. The Promotional Event
Clamp organizes an extravagant promotional event for the entertainment complex, inviting the townsfolk and media. The Ghostbusters are asked to oversee the "Mogwai Exhibit," but they are apprehensive about the risks involved.
Peter is intrigued by the prospect, while Egon and Winston voice their concerns about the Mogwai's care and the potential for chaos.
Act 2: Unleashing the Chaos
5. The Mishap at the Exhibit
During the event, a child accidentally spills water on one of the Mogwai, leading to rapid multiplication. The newly spawned Mogwai quickly begin to cause mischief, and the Ghostbusters scramble to contain the situation.
Clamp remains oblivious to the growing chaos, insisting that the show must go on despite the Ghostbusters' warnings.
6. Transformation into Gremlins
As night falls and the moon reaches its peak, the Mogwai transform into Gremlins. The chaos escalates as the Gremlins wreak havoc at the event, sabotaging attractions and terrorizing guests.
The Ghostbusters attempt to intervene, leading to a series of comedic encounters as they try to catch the Gremlins while navigating Clamp's misguided attempts at damage control.
7. The Town in Turmoil
The Gremlins escape into Clamp Corners, causing chaos in local businesses, including the diner, bank, and various shops. The townsfolk panic, and the Ghostbusters work tirelessly to keep the situation under control.
Ray's enthusiasm leads to humorous blunders, while Peter tries to charm frightened residents into assisting them.
8. Forming a Plan
After witnessing the chaos firsthand, Billy, Kate, and the Ghostbusters regroup to devise a plan. They realize they need to trap the Gremlins using their ghost-catching equipment while keeping the townsfolk safe.
Egon develops a trap that utilizes sounds and lights to lure the Gremlins, and Winston provides practical advice on coordinating with the community.
Act 3: The Showdown
9. Billy Reveals Gizmo
In a pivotal scene, Billy reveals Gizmo, his beloved Mogwai, to the Ghostbusters. He explains the rules governing Mogwai and the dangers of the Gremlins, highlighting the importance of keeping Gizmo safe.
The Ghostbusters listen intently, understanding that Gizmo's knowledge is crucial to defeating the Gremlins.
10. The Gala Event
The climax occurs during Clamp's gala event to promote the entertainment complex. The Gremlins crash the party, causing chaos among the guests and media.
The Ghostbusters, with the help of Billy and Kate, execute their plan to capture the Gremlins before they can ruin everything. Clamp remains oblivious, trying to continue his promotional efforts even as the chaos unfolds around him.
11. The Comedic Battle
The Ghostbusters face off against the Gremlins in a series of slapstick encounters. Peter uses his charm and humor to distract the Gremlins, Ray taps into his folklore knowledge to find their weaknesses, Egon deploys his scientific traps, and Winston keeps the team focused.
Gizmo's guidance proves invaluable, as the team works together to outsmart the mischievous creatures.

Homestuck Daily - Week 2 - 4/27/2024
Last week was a real fucking mess. I wrote it a day late and I barely talked about the contents of the comic or my thoughts of it. I swore to myself that this week, I would get my head in the game. I would take notes on each day of comics, I'd pick out highlights I could talk about for the next update. I'd really do my best to give thoughtful insight into this comic. And then, as if Homestuck itself was mocking me from 15 years in the past, this was the slowest week of homestuck yet. 12 pages from 4/22/2024 to as I'm typing this. We'll get to those pages in a second, but first a bit of housekeeping.
I have previously mentioned I've scheduled out about which pages I would be reading which days, for up to about the first year of this project's runtime. This was a terrible idea, and I've deleted the calendar and replaced it with a daily reminder to check the Unofficial Homestuck Collection for updates. I would like to say this was to maintain verisimilitude for this project, but that would be at least partially a lie. The truth is that as this project began, I quickly learned the original schedule I wrote out was rather inaccurate, usually missing the last few updates of the day due to what I assume is a time zone difference. Fixing that schedule, or creating a new one from scratch, would be way too much effort, so I decided to throw away the gift and curse of knowledge. I plunge into the future of this project without a map or checklist.
Now, for a map or checklist of what happened this week in Homestuck. There was of course, Shenanigans, which I think I might create a separate section to discuss Shenanigans. A Plot-Recap and a Shenanigans Recap. But that discussion belongs in housekeeping, and this is the recap... as much of a recap that's possible with 12 pages. This week, John breaks the premise of this comic by exiting his house in search of the SBURB Beta. We get an iconic title-drop for the Comic with a short flash of John contemplating his 13th birthday and the feeling of something missing. He sees a mysterious green package and a piece of paper in his dad's car, but otherwise the beta is nowhere to be seen. He heads back inside, and spies a red package and a piece of paper with SBURB's Logo in the kitchen. John finally decides to enter the kitchen in order to confront his cake-wielding father, and we get our dramatic introduction to Dad. As of writing this, the week of updates ends with the calm before the storm of John facing his ferocious father in a fight.
As for shenanigans... uhhhh John watches an Ecto-Cooler commercial after really fucking up a card trick. Also he resists the urge to poop in his mailbox. This week is light on content on all fronts, I guess.
Before I go, I'd like to talk for a little bit about page 82 of Homestuck, the 2nd [S] of the comic that ends with a title card for the comic itself. I remember this page grabbing my attention when I first read this comic years ago. I'm not sure how quickly that past-me got to that page, but I remember thinking "Ah, the comic starts now." I think I assumed it must have released rather soon after the comic's start, but as the present-me reads this comic in real time, I realize it was released about 11 days after Homestuck began. That's a small percentage of the entire comic, certainly, but for me, I am realizing that a moment that I've considered the Beginning of Homestuck took nearly 2 weeks to get to. Not for the first time, I am hit with the monumental scale of the project ahead of me. A project I am doing for nobody but myself. I think about why I've decided to re-read Homestuck, and why I am documenting my re-read here. I think about the kind of person I was 7 years ago, and the kind of person I might be 7 years from now. I think about how many ways my life may change before I finish this. To paraphrase Walt Whitman, 'I realize today is going to be a long day.'

❝ The Mayor's office is going to issue an immediate order to evacuate. ❞
HIS STATEMENT WAS UTTERED IN ALMOST HIS USUAL MANNER - THOUGH HIS VOICE WAS A SMIDGE MORE SOMBRE. He had good reason to feel at least slightly bleak; for reasons that still weren't entirely clear, a score of Class V and above apparitions had decided to attack various boroughs of the city simultaneously, the immense spike in Psychokinetic Energy potent enough to open multiple cross-dimensional portals, stretching the Inc's resources to breaking point and creating an emergency of an almost-unforeseen magnitude. To put it simply, the four of them had faced nothing quite like this before - and they were the only ones who had any chance of stopping it.
FACED WITH NO ALTERNATIVE, IT'D BEEN HE WHO'D ADVISED THE MAYOR THAT THERE WAS ONLY ONE COURSE OF ACTION LEFT IN ORDER TO ENSURE THE CITIZENS' WELFARE. Casting a silent glance over the snippet of the city in his view from one of the Firehouse's windows, he observed the calm before the paranormal storm - even when the circumstances were stacked against him, he always managed to demonstrate a remarkable state of composure...though, he'd have been lying if he said that he wasn't feeling at all worried about just what the next few days would bring. Right now, his focus had to remain on finishing getting Ecto-1 - and himself - ready for what would inevitably be their own version of war.
❝ Even Janine will be leaving. You should go with her. If the circumstances escalate much further, I won't be able to guarantee your safety... ❞

---
"Danny- you in here?" Jazz asked, opening her brother's door tentatively. To her surprise, she saw both Danny and Phantom in the room, both looking sombre and upset. She frowned slightly, looking between the two like a hawk. "Are you okay?"
Danny's eyes briefly flashed green as Phantom disappeared, smiling at his sister. "Yeah," he replied softly. His blue eyes watched her as she crossed her arms determinedly.
"Good, cause we're ready for you." Jazz observed Danny closely as he stood up straighter, a quiet reservation embodying him. She frowned as she examined him again. "You sure you're okay? We can postpone-"
"No," Danny said tiredly. "We really can't." He walked over to his sister, ignoring her suspecting gaze as he gave her a hug. Jazz bristled in surprise, but quickly returned it. "Love you," he murmured into her shoulder.
"I love you too," she replied, pulling away from the hug. She poked his nose affectionately, making the younger teen scramble away with a scowl. "Now come on, you're needed Ghost Boy."
With a devious smirk, Danny transformed and grabbed his sister by her arms. He turned them both intangible and flew up to the Ops Center. He dropped Jazz unceremoniously to the ground as he turned tangible again.
"Ugh! Danny!" Jazz protested, shivering slightly. "Give me warning next time!"
Danny chuckled, floating in the air as he watched Jazz try and recover. "You're the one who said they were ready. Where's that Ghost Getter attitude?" he teased.
Jazz glared half-heartedly at her brother before sighing. "C'mon," she said, gesturing to the crowded Ops Center.
Both Fenton children made their way into the room, weaving through many of Frostbite's subjects as they attempted to reach their parents. Maddie, Jack, Sam and Tucker were crowded around one of the screens. Jack saw them first.
"Kids! There you are!" he boomed, causing Sam and Tucker to jump in surprise. "Vladdy's on the T.V."
Danny exchanged frowns with his sister as they moved the screen. Vlad was sitting at his desk in the Mayor's office, looking stoic and political as the T.V. station ran a banner underneath him labelling it as a mayoral address.
"Citizens of Amity Park," Vlad began. Danny rolled his eyes at the condescending tone his arch-enemy used. "As you've been aware, local hero Danny Phantom has held a large dome of energy around our beloved town for the past four days. After a brief meeting with Phantom this afternoon, we now have true confirmation of what is afoot."
Maddie turned to her son, frowning in disapproval. "You went to Vlad?"
Danny shrugged. "He needed to know what was going on. The last thing we want is him making a story up and it causes people to get hurt." He turned back to the press conference.
"There is a dangerous ghost making its way through the Ghost Zone," Vlad continued. "Dangerous enough to cause many ghosts to take refuge here in our world. Phantom has put up this shield in order to protect our town from harm." Vlad folded his hands together, looking very grim. "However, this ghost has challenged our resident ghost and has thus threatened the safety of this town. Tomorrow, these two will clash somewhere in our world, with Phantom unsure of how much protection he can give us.
"The Fentons and I have created a contingency plan in case Phantom's shield is compromised, however it is very likely that this will rival our run in with the Ghost King last year. Unfortunately, it is too late to evacuate the town. Rest assured that your safety is our number one priority. We are asking you to stay indoors until we determine that it is safe to return to our normal lives. I must implore you all to be careful – the only warning we'll have is if this shield goes down.
"As for Danny Phantom – if you're watching this: Good Luck."
Vlad faded from the screen as Lance Thunder started his analysis on what he just heard. Danny let out a breath as he turned to his parents. "We ready to figure out a plan?"
Jack gave his son a reassuring smile. "You bet kiddo," he told him, leading the way to a large round table. Ethelwulf, Frostbite and Clockwork all sat waiting for them, with many more white yeti ghosts standing behind them. Frostbite grinned readily as he saw Danny approach, while Ethelwulf looked him over searchingly.
Danny ignored them, instead floated above the table and waited for his friends and family to take a seat. Green eyes found the large fold out map of Amity Park with various pieces placed strategically across it. A small frown appeared across his face as he saw the large amount of pieces outside of the shield.
"We still have about 10 hours before Dan attacks," Maddie said, snapping Danny out of his musings. He floated back, giving her his full attention. Maddie pointed to the large group that was furthest away. "Our intel shows that Dan is East of the town gathering his army." She gestured to the rest of the town. "Danny's shield will hold for a bit, but our main priority should be getting the Fenton shield up and running. Once that's up, it should cover the entire town – the only problem is we still can't isolate Dan's ecto-signature from Danny's."
"The good news is between Frostbite and his people, we're able to scan all the ghosts hiding in Amity Park," Jack told the crowd. "This way, the shield will still be able to protect the ghosts and the town from Dan's wrath."
Danny nodded, agreeing with the line of thought so far. "And you'll keep working on the shield?" His parents nodded. His frown deepened as he surveyed the plans now on the table. "We need to keep him out of the city at all costs." Danny moved closer to the table, pointing to a large structure on the map. "Until we get the Fenton shield up, we'll have to be divided." Maddie glanced at her son nervously, but stepped back as he started to take more command at the table. "We'll split up in two teams. Ethelwulf, Frostbite; you both stay here. With Ethelwulf's shield around the Fenton Portal, it's the safest point in all this. If anything goes down, you're the best people to defend it." He traced the outer layer of the map with index finger. "The Red Hunter, Danielle and Plasmius will be at the shield holding back the shadow army. If these things are anything like Vlad's copies, then there's going to be a lot of them."
Maddie and Jack exchanged surprised looks before addressing their son. "Are you sure you can trust Plasmius?" Jack asked him. "Or the Red Hunter for that matter? She did trap you and Danielle a few weeks back."
Danny didn't look up from the map, concentrating hard on his next point when he answered. "We've had truces before," he explained. "It's fine. Besides we'll need all the help we can get."
Frostbite cleared his throat. "My fellow Far Frozen brothers will also protect the town," the yeti ghost told the group in front of them, garnering murmurs of agreement throughout the crowd. "If any of the shadows make it in, we'll be ready Great One."
"Thanks Frostbite," Danny said gratefully, flashing his friend a smile. It quickly disappeared as he continued. "Unfortunately, I think that'll happen sooner rather than later." He turned his gaze to his parents. "No matter what Vlad's said during that press conference, we're going to need people to clear the streets and provide cover if needed."
Maddie stroked her chin in thought. "I think we still have time to reach out to the Ghost Emergency Response team," she said. Seeing the look of confusion on her son's face she elaborated. "We reached out to a few people after the Ghost King attack to help with evacuation efforts in the event we couldn't get to them in time. They'll be able to use some public spaces to get people to safety in a pinch. Plus, this was set up before Vlad was mayor; we don't have to go through him for his approval."
Danny eyed his Mom suspiciously at her tart tone but nodded his consent. "Okay, let's do that," he said. His eyes darted across the map in front of him, before he paused and sighed heavily. "I don't think there's any way I can keep the shield up and fight Dan."
"Especially if you're going to be an idiot and go off alone," Tucker said. Danny scowled at him. "What? We can see your self-sacrificing shtick from a mile away dude."
"Not exactly what I meant," Danny shot back, green eyes running over the map avoiding everyone's gaze. "I'm using my base powers to keep the shield up. If something's attacking it - the best place to keep it up around the town is to be right on it."
"Making you a sitting duck," Ethelwulf finished, yellow eyes scanning the map with quick precision. "Which is what Dan is counting on; he tested your abilities in your last battle. He'll wait until you're distracted before striking."
"Which is where Jazz and I come in," Sam jumped in, moving closer to the table and pointed to various sections of the town. "We can provide cover some extra cover on you from the highest points of the city." She pointed out four large buildings. "If we station ourselves up there, we can hit the ones that close in on Danny's position."
Danny stiffened slightly at the suggestion, eying the pieces outside of the shield again and the other two buildings that Sam had suggested. He let out a breath before looking up at his family and friends. "We'll need more than just you two. Mom, Dad, Jazz and Sam will be on these four buildings," Danny grabbed four mini pieces that indicated their side of the battle and placed them on the map. "Tucker, you'll be at FentonWorks working on the shield and be our eyes while we're out there. Apart from my parents, you're the only one who can work on those calculations." He moved another piece. "I'll be at the top of the shield, keeping it up until the Fenton shield is ready. Then we can regroup here and think about our next phase of attack."
"And if your shield goes down before the Fenton one is ready?" Sam asked sceptically.
Danny floated above the table, looking grim. "Then we fight," he said simply. He floated above the crowd, his face reserved as he surveyed the crowded ops center. "This won't be easy," he told the crowd. "In a different time, he destroyed the entire world. I want to say we'll make it… but there's no guarantee that we'd be back. If we fail – our worlds as we know them are doomed." The half-ghost crossed his arms. "Dan isn't invincible. If we work together, we can bring him down. Who's with me?"
A loud roar of approval echoed through the ops center from the members of the Far Frozen. Danny scanned the crowd and found Clockwork, regarding him curiously with his red eyes. Time seemed to slow as their eyes met, Clockwork searching for an answer from the young ghost. Clockwork gave Danny a brief nod of approval before Danny floated back to the ground toward his friends and family.
Danny waited until the ghosts left the Ops Center before taking a vacant seat and transforming back into Danny Fenton. Tired eyes scanned the table again, looking at the small pieces and the map with reservation. "If this doesn't work…"
"It will," Maddie told him sternly, putting a comforting hand on his shoulder. "It'll be fine." Danny couldn't tell if she was trying to reassure herself as well.
"If there's anything this year has shown us, it's how to kick ghost butt as a family," Jack added confidently.
"Dad's right," Jazz told him, coming around Danny's other side, giving him a big hug. "Dan may have the power, but we have the numbers and heart. Remember that, okay?" Both Fenton parents joined the hug at their daughter's words.
Danny smiled softly. "I'll remember," he said. His family released the boy from the hug, smiling. He took a deep breath, releasing it slowly. "This will work."
Maddie kissed the top of his head affectionately. "Get some rest sweetheart. We'll see you off in the morning." With that, the three Fentons exited the Ops Center, leaving Danny, Sam and Tucker alone.
Tucker walked over to the table, nudging Sam along the way and sat next to his best friend. "That was kinda weird…right? I mean… in a good way?"
Danny chuckled. "A bit, yeah." Sam finally moved to Danny's other side at the table, watching him intently. "This is the first time my parents are involved in such a big ghost attack and know all the stakes going in. It's made it easier….. but also so much harder."
"What do you mean?" Sam asked.
Danny shook his head, smiling softly. "It doesn't matter. I'm just glad we're on the same side for once." He pulled out a small pouch from his pocket, putting it onto the table. His logo reflected the light from the Ops Center above him. "Can one of you ask Ethelwulf about these? Vlad gave them to me."
"I'm pretty sure that's a red flag and should be thrown out," Sam said, narrowing her eyes at the pouch.
Danny shrugged. "He said they're Ecto-Enhancers – something to help give my powers an energy boost. While I don't trust Vlad with a ten foot pole, I think he's actually trying to help. I'd ask my parents, but Mom's been acting strange about me interacting with Vlad. I don't think she knows anything, but she definitely suspects."
"Hence Ethelwulf," Tucker finished, watching Danny confirm with a nod. Tucker stared at the pouch as a few ideas raced across his brain. "Apart from Ethelwulf, Plasmius is the only other person who knows about half-ghosts on a molecular level. Maybe these will help us separate the two of you."
"If there's one time for his creepy clone experiments to come in handy, it's now" Danny replied with a grimace.
"Gross," Tucker said. He reached over, grabbing the pouch of Ecto-Enhancers and waved them in the air. "I'll get started on this – hopefully we can get that shield up before morning." Tucker stood, giving Sam an exaggerated look before moving quickly to the stairs. "Sam, make sure this one doesn't do something stupid without me. I am the brains of this operation"
Danny chuckled at the joke. "Don't let it get to your head, techie."
Sam shook her head at their antics. "No promises," she said slyly as Danny made a noise in protest. Sam caught Tucker's equally sly smile as he made his way downstairs, realizing suddenly that he left her alone with Danny on purpose; she nearly groaned in annoyance.
"Jerk," Danny muttered in amusement. He rose slowly, gripping the table to hold himself up. His arms shook as he looked over the plans again, blue eyes darting back to the large amount of pieces on the ground.
Sam frowned worriedly. "You're exhausted," she stated.
Danny nodded. "We really need that shield," he told her wearily. "If these numbers are right then I'm going to be putting all my energy into defending the town."
"What you really need is sleep." Sam replied sharply. Danny ignored her and continued to glance at the figures on the table. "When was the last time you actually rested without those time visions?"
Danny shrugged, turning his face away. "Few days maybe," he replied. He traced the outer layer of the map toward the top of the shield, frowning in thought.
Sam sighed, standing up and put her hand on his shoulder. Danny's body relaxed slightly at her touch but remained focus on the map in front of him. "You need to rest," she said softly. "You've been heading straight for Dan ever since he escaped. Not to mention, you've been flying around and using your powers quite a bit today. Isn't it time to take it easy?" Danny only hummed at the suggestion. Sam sighed again, bracing herself against the table as she looked out in the other direction. A few moments passed, neither one speaking as they stood in the Ops Center. Finally, Sam let out a long breath, steeling her resolve. "About earlier…"
"You were right," Danny told her, cutting Sam off before she had a chance to continue. He glanced at her quickly before his eyes returned to the map. "Before. This isn't just some ghost fight."
Sam frowned, confused at his reserved demeanour. "You told me you weren't afraid anymore," she accused softly.
"I'm not."
Sam turned to him abruptly, violet eyes flashing dangerously. "So why are you holding back now? What changed in a few hours?"
Danny sighed tiredly, his black hair covering his face from her view. When he finally spoke, it was so quiet it made the hairs on the back of Sam's neck stand up. "If we make it through this, then we'll talk."
Sam blinked before nudging him hard with her shoulder. "When we make it through this, I'll be waiting. You hear me? When." They stood quietly, Sam's last remark hanging in the air as Danny made no attempt to answer. She nudged him again. "Danny, when you make it back. Not if."
Danny raised his head slowly, smiling as he looked at her. Sam's eyes widened slightly at the changing emotions across his face. "Yeah," he agreed softly. "You're right." He turned away as Sam looked at him, concerned. "I think I'm gonna head downstairs."
Sam frowned; something didn't feel right. "You're not going to sneak off on our own are you?" she asked searchingly.
Danny shook his head and brushed her off. "Nah – you'll miss me too much," he replied lightly. She wasn't convinced.
With a small wave, he took off down the stairs. Sam watched him go, still frowning as she tried to figure out his sudden change of mood.
:-=-:
"A little early for an adventure, isn't it Halfling?"
Danny didn't turn from his position on the Ops Center, opting to look at the stars through the green shield around the town with a small smile. There were still a few hours before dawn and apart from the ghosts throughout the house, everyone was asleep. "Not an adventure if I'm still here."
Ethelwulf chuckled as he walked up beside the seated young ghost. "True, but you are your ghost self on a rooftop, alone, right before we do battle with that monster. Forgive me for thinking you were sneaking off without telling us."
Danny shook his head. "I couldn't sleep," he admitted. "Stargazing helps me clear my head." They looked at the stars in silence, Ethelwulf waiting for Danny to continue. Eventually, Danny sighed, standing up to face the black wolf ghost beside him. "I keep seeing various parts of how today will play out," he said dismally. "Regardless of how much planning we do, it doesn't seem like we're going to win."
Ethelwulf opened his mouth, but a voice beat him to it.
"What have I told you before, Great One?" Frostbite floated toward them, an eyebrow raised questionably at the younger. "About fears and battles?"
"I'm not afraid of Dan," Danny told them confidently. "I'm not facing him on my own so we have more of a chance than I would normally. But…" Danny looked up at the stars again, frowning. "In order to win, we need to know his plan. With these time visions, I think I have some idea of… how he thinks."
Frostbite and Ethelwulf exchanged confused looks. "Isn't that a good thing?" Ethelwulf asked him.
"If I'm right… then it's not a good thing," Danny replied seriously. He rubbed the back of his head. "It means that our plan doesn't account for him exploiting our weaknesses – which he'll definitely do. Dan has nothing to lose, meaning he's more dangerous than ever. He doesn't care."
Ethelwulf let out a soft "Oh," as he realized what the boy was trying to say. He lowered his head close to Danny's face, big yellow eyes looking into worried green. "Danny," he said gently. "Going into battle thinking you'll lose means you've already lost. The things that you need to fight for? That makes you more dangerous too."
Danny smiled sadly. "I want to believe that. More than anything."
Ethelwulf nodded. "Then do." Ethelwulf looked him over, frowning. "Though you're not completely healed from yesterday; are you sure you'll be alright on top of that shield?"
Danny nodded. "I'm good. The faster we get that shield up, the faster I can recover and kick his sorry butt out of existence. How's that going anyway?"
Ethelwulf sighed. "Tucker gave me the Ecto-Enhancers; Plasmius seems to know quite a bit about your ecto-signature Halfling. We were able to identify more of a distinction between the ecto-signature we have of you and his. It seems like the key here is your mid-morph sample – but until you're able to recover, I believe it's unwise for us to take that sample. Though, now that we know what we're looking for, we might be able to manipulate the shield enough for us to put it up. These Ecto-Enhancers should be safe if you wish to use them."
Danny nodded in confirmation. "Good to know – probably best to leave them here for now. Last thing I want is for Dan to get a hold of them." Danny looked away, making Frostbite and Ethelwulf tense slightly. "If anyone can figure out that mid-morph sample, it'll be Tucker. He's been working with my parents for so long and knows my powers pretty well. Will you-"
"Don't worry," Frostbite assured. "We'll make sure your family is safe. No one will get through."
Danny smiled gratefully, looking up at the stars again. "Thank you," he said simply. They were quiet for a few minutes, before Danny closed his eyes and breathed deeply. "Clockwork," he called as he opened his eyes and faced his two friends.
Clockwork's spinning clock appeared promptly behind Frostbite, the latter shuffling aside for the Time Master to materialize. Once appeared, Clockwork brought his staff toward the ground, a grim smile directed at Danny.
"I think I finally understand," Danny said quietly. "When you told me that acting on the knowledge of time was a burden."
Clockwork inclined his head in acknowledgement. "I believe so," he said simply. "I'd ask you what now, but judging from that response, I can only guess."
Danny sighed again. "I need you all to promise me something," the half-ghost started, getting the attention of all three spectres on the roof. "If I….. If I stop responding on coms…..or if I go down…please don't come looking for me until my shield falls. Keep my family and friends away from it too."
The boy's request hung in the silence that followed.
"I've seen some….. things," Danny continued, green eyes pleading for them to agree. "I don't know if they're true – but I might have to make decisions out there that go against the plan to protect Amity- To protect my friends and family. I need to know that they're safe behind this shield. It's the only way I'll….Please – keep them from coming after me."
Clockwork looked at Ethelwulf and Frostbite's shocked faces as he floated past them, red eyes glued to the determined, pleading face of a fifteen year old half-ghost that started this. "I said once," Clockwork started, "That I'm inclined to trust your judgement. Through all those twists and turns of time, my view on that has never wavered Danny Phantom." Clockwork put a hand on Danny's shoulder. "Time has asked so much of someone so young – this is the least I can do."
"Are you sure this is wise, Time Master?" Frostbite asked worriedly. "The Great One is still not healed. If he goes in alone –"
"Frostbite is right," Ethelwulf said, cutting the Far Frozen leader off. "Danny, this is ill-advised. You just said you're not fighting him alone – why do you want to prevent us from helping you in your time of need?"
"We have a plan right?" Danny asked, an eyebrow raised. "No matter what happens to me, we need to make sure it gets followed. We're more likely to succeed that way. If my shield is still up, I'm okay - I'm still alive. The last thing I want is for Dan to use anyone I love as bait."
The two wolf-like ghosts looked at each other and sighed, defeated.
"I will protect them with my life Great One," Frostbite told him earnestly.
Danny turned to Ethelwulf, who sighed deeply. Yellow eyes met green once more. "You are truly remarkable, Halfling," he said proudly. Danny's eyes widened in surprise. "I will honour your wishes – however if your shield falls, I will come after you myself. I will not let you die."
Danny smiled, looking at each of the ghosts directly before nodding. "Alright, then let's-" Danny's knees buckled slightly, cutting his train of thought off as he grimaced in pain. Frostbite and Clockwork moved toward the boy. Ethelwulf winced, swearing under his breath.
"Something attacked my shield," Ethelwulf said.
"Mine too," Danny ground out as he recovered. He looked up in thought, frowning as his eyes scanned the shield. He closed his eyes, trying to find where the attack on the shield came from before sighing. He turned to Frostbite and Ethelwulf. "If I'm not back in half an hour, wake everyone else up."
"This has to be a trap," Ethelwulf said. "Danny, you shouldn't go up there alone."
"He did say he wanted to divide my attention," Danny replied bitterly. "Probably, but I don't want to chance the shield. Ethelwulf, check on the one around the portal. I'll have my Fenton Phone with me – Frostbite, head to the control station and we'll stay in contact. I'll be gone thirty minutes tops. If I'm not back, tell my family…" he paused, looking conflicted for the first time on the rooftop. "Tell them… to defend Amity. To get the Fenton Shield up and running. To…to be careful. I'll be back as soon as I can." Without warning, Danny leapt into the air and teleported somewhere outside of the shield.
Clockwork sighed, breaking Frostbite and Ethelwulf out of their surprised stupors. "Frostbite," he called. "You heard him, get to the control panel. Ethelwulf, check on that shield. The faster we do that, the faster one of you can go after him."
Frostbite and Ethelwulf exchanged confused glances. "I thought you said you trusted his judgement?" Ethelwulf asked suspiciously.
Clockwork looked at the shield above. "I do," he replied simply, a small frown on his face. "That does not mean I have to like it."
:-=-:
Danny held his hand to the shield, concentrating on finding the point that was attacked earlier. It's too quiet Danny thought, eyes darting from side to side looking for a threat. "Frostbite?"
"I'm here, Great One," Frostbite's voice came through the Fenton Phone urgently.
"Anything?"
"No. All clear on the radars."
Danny frowned, more unease rising from within him. "Yeah, here too," he said, standing, on top of the shield. It was holding strong; if anything attacked while he was up here, it would hold. He looked down and saw the mass of black surrounding the town, faint dim auras outlining each of the shadows that Dan created. Danny swallowed nervously as he lost count. "I'm headed back now," he said evenly, attempting to mask his concern.
"I'll await your arrival."
As the line went dead, Danny gasped as his ghost sense came alive, the icy cold sending a small shiver down his spine. He tensed, left hand alighting in green as he readied for an attack, the right going back toward his Fenton Phone. He barely had time to react as a large amount of ecto-energy surrounded his senses. He cried out in pain as it subsided, falling onto the shield in a heap. He barely managed to see a pair of white boots before the world faded to black.
:-=-:
"Sam, wake up," Jazz said urgently, shaking the girl awake. Sam rolled over, squinting slightly at the person who dared disturbed her slumber. "Sam, come on." Jazz shook her again.
Sam blinked before she recognized the urgency in her voice. "Is it time?" she asked, sitting up quickly and rubbed her eyes.
"Sam, Danny's missing."
Whatever tiredness she was felt left Sam instantly. "What?!"
Jazz sat back with a worried frown on the bed, her red hair glowing slightly from the light in the hallway. "Frostbite said he went to check the shield and was supposed to be back an hour ago." Her teal eyes met Sam's violet ones. "Danny told them he was coming back – then the line went dead. Ethelwulf went looking for him, but they couldn't find him."
"Was there anything on the radar?" Sam asked, grabbing both her time medallion and the violet jumpsuit as she hastily put them on.
Jazz shook her head. "No – but Frostbite said Danny just disappeared. No teleportation or anything, just… gone. Like he was never up there; we're meeting downstairs to create a game plan."
Sam nodded, putting on her last glove. "Okay, I'll meet you down in a few minutes."
Jazz gave her a nod in confirmation. "Good, I'll go check on Dad then. He probably got an hour or so of sleep before Frostbite woke Mom." Jazz headed out of her room, a worried frown still across her face as she raced down the hall.
Sam let out a shaky breath as Jazz left. Her eyes drifted to the small clock on the bedside table - 4 am. Two hours before dawn. Two hours before the fight of their lives. Two hours to find Danny.

Without ao3 I became inspired. Ok so being tired of the justice league not helping/believing brakes into the tower while a meeting is taking place to show one of the heroes what is happening I.E. you failed and don’t come here we don’t want you, we don’t need you. You come here and you will be treated as a super villain and dealt with as such.
—————
Danny was sick, tired and powerful. A dangerous combination for most peoples. Myths and legends written throughout every religion every people every and every world based on gods feeling those exact things, and that is the thing Danny closest too, not ghost, not human, but a god. Even if he does not himself as such.
Today was the justice league’s last chance, Walker had decided to change up his tactics. Instead of going after Danny directly he was going to play dirty. Imprisoning 300 living for ”harboring a fugitive”. The justice league was called, one last chance before thing got out of hand. 300 people held captive in another dimension should be a priority for a group called the justice league.
Their response “the justice league contact system should only be used for emergencies, pranks will not be tolerated”. a simple response. directed and to the point. A metaphorical death sentence for the justice league and the people of amity’s faith in them.
No one died, thank the ancients, but blood was spilled. Red and green fell to the floor like water from the large cuts on Danny’s arms and the side of his torso, he was mostly fine, a couple stitches, about a gallon of filtered ectoplasm and a trip to the nasty burger had fixed him up. Meaning that every time he tried to move his arms he felt like he was being stabbed and he could not breathe without pain, which in all fairness was kind of normal for him, it sucked but it was normal.
The real problem was the 300 people I’m the hospital, ecto contamination, not to the extent of being fatal but extremely painful. That could have been avoided if Danny had more help than just his team of 4 other teenage vigilantes and his adult sister.
So after that fiasco Danny did something, else, something more political, he mad deals. With permission from the most important people in town the ones who keeps everything running, IE Mr lancer and Jazz. He also got permission from the mayor, bribed with Danny going to a Green Bay packers game with him.
Johnny 13 and kitty could joy ride before 12 am and after 9am as long as property damage stays at a minimum, a couple smashed mailboxes, broken windows and spray painted cars/buildings paid for by the mayors office was better than bad luck to the entire town and people disappearing.
Skulked got to hunt Danny in a building made for that purpose, Spector-cameras installed in it so people could stream it live to “witness the greatest hunter of the ghost zone”.
Ember got to play her music and travel on tour as she pleased as long as she didn’t mind control people.
Some wouldn’t take the deals but most of the heavy hitters did, it calmed down a lot, but as they say it the calm before the storm.
With the viewers of the “ghost battles” (it was basically a game of extreme tag) and embers fans talking, the ghost situation became a known thing
And again the justice league responded. “we will be there in a month”
No apologies for not believing them no apologies for not helping, just a we are on our way 8 months after the incident and they were going to be there 9 months after. All the people where health again, Walker was punished, locked in his haunt for the next 100 years. The justice league has nothing to do. They have no point in coming to amity. Where they just going to show up, say “sorry for not helping you, welp peace” and then just leave.
Maybe that was the point, that though crossed Danny’s mind as he read the message out loud to his team. They didn’t have any to do, a vanity project, help the small community that they abandoned so that the people don’t go blabbing to the papers, a pr move.
Sam and Valerie had voiced the same opinions on what the justice league was doing. The rest of the team agreed after a short conversation.
This led to Tucker hacking the league computer system to find the next meeting date and we’re it would be held. “Unhackabal my ass” and a plan was made.
So here he is, invisible, intangible and floating above the justice league. Batman walked up to the podium and began to present.
“8 and a half months ago the league got a report of 300 people being kidnapped and sent to the ghost dimension, this was believed to be a prank and filled as such, we were wrong” he said while clicking through slides, some of medical reports of the victims, some of the photos taken of him helping people out of the portal next to the hospital he mad to help the victims faster. Then he said “ this is the city’s resident hero team” the next slide showing the picture of Danny, Sam , Wes, Valerie, tucker and jazz receiving the key to the city.
“We one know of this misstep because of videos posted online of phantom pictured here” he pointed an Danny receiving the key, another picture of him helping a man to the hospital appeared “and here”
“Do we know who trained them they don’t look older than sixteen” Wonder Woman asked. Before batman could answer Danny revealed himself, though he made his skin slightly translucent to show his bones, it was all part of the plan.
He floated down to the floor and looked directly at her “we trained ourselves”
He turned to face the whole room. “ I am not here to fight you” he said as a couple of hero quickly moved from their seats. “ I came to warn you”
He took in a breath “ I came to warn you, stay out of amity and stay in your lane.” He put a small amount of his ghostly wale into his voice, just enough to shake up their hearts. “ we don’t need you. We don’t WANT you” he cold the room slowly a couple degrees a word. “ do not ask around for us ghosts, do not look for us, if you find one of us. RUN.” He dropped his voice louder as emphasis. “ if you find one of us causing trouble, send us a message, but otherwise don’t acknowledge us or amity, the dead have nothing to give to you” his eyes became fussy staring at nothing green tears fell out of his eyes, and his Lichtenberg scars began to glow Ice blue, but his voice did not waver,.“ you may not have killed us yourself but you signed our death warrant long ago, you have ignored us far to long” is voice soften at the last word.
Then his eyes turns red, as fast as he could he pulled Superman out of his chair and pushed him to the wall. Danny’s hand went intangible as he pushed in into Superman’s chest. His hand wrapped around Superman’s heart, Danny soften the intangibility so Superman could fell the hand but not get hurt. “I can rip your heart out without a single fight” his skin became entirely invisible to show his skeleton. “To all of amity” Superman’s breathing quickened “to me” he move close to Superman’s ear “you are villains, and will be treated as such” he dropped Superman to the floor.
“Stay in your domain and I’ll stay in mine” ice began to form at his feet, looking mor like crystals than ice. “Come to us with please of forgiveness is as pointless as asking of it from your god” ectoplasm dripped from his mouth onto the floor. “Do not come to amity” and with that he went invisible again and watched the room in amusement. He was kinda freaking out at how awesome he sounded.
A couple minutes of silence followed. As John Constantine entered the room, “what did I miss?”

Wes / Denial
I gave writing Wes a shot. You can read it on AO3, or under the readmore link. A snippet:
There was no way they didn't see it. That puff of air, more than a puff really, a CLOUD of blue vapor that emerged from Danny Fenton's mouth, right before he'd made up some lame excuse about needing the nurse and ran off?
Everyone was in denial.
That had to be it, Wes thought, as he peered around his classroom at the thirty or so teenagers and one oblivious, droning middle-aged teacher.
There was no way they didn't see it. That puff of air, more than a puff really, a CLOUD of blue vapor that emerged from Danny Fenton's mouth, right before he'd made up some lame excuse about needing the nurse and ran off?
Wes's hands gripped the sides of his desk tightly, bracing himself for it. He'd noticed the connection.
And sure enough, the ghost alarm bell went off, signaling all students to evacuate the premises.
He'd observed carefully the pattern (his eyes were like lasers glaring at the back of Danny's head in every class they shared) and had told everyone he knew.
But even when he texted them before the ghost alarm went off, telling them that Danny had left the class and so there was sure to be a ghost attack, they still mocked him. Some even commented on his "suspicious" foreknowledge.
There were more people that believed he was in cahoots with the ghosts than there were that believed Fenton was Phantom. It was maddening. He wished he could go into denial over the whole thing...
He tried to put Fenton out of his mind for the rest of the day. Trying to convince everyone was getting him nowhere, just earning him a lot of funny looks and snickering.
He actually did a pretty good job of it, managing to ignore that his one of his classmates was a creepy dead imitation playing at being human.
But when he got home from basketball practice, it was forcibly brought back to his mind.
"Son, your mother and I would like to talk to you about something."
Oh no, he knew what this was about.
He sat down at the dining table across from them, shooting wary looks at his mother's smiling, calm façade and at the concerned look on his father's face.
"I got a call from Jack Fenton this afternoon. Do you know what about?" his father asked.
Wes sighed.
"It's nothing you two need to worry about. He told me the anti-ghost ray he hit me with was totally harmless to human beings."
His father and mother exchanged glances, his father raising a brow. Oh great, that wasn't what they'd wanted to talk about.
"We're more concerned that you were caught in the bushes outside the Fenton home. For the fifth time this month." his father said.
Wes gaped at them. "I was investigating a paranormal entity that haunts our school halls." he said slowly.
"Wes honey, it's okay if you like this boy. But you can't stalk him." his mother said, her voice gentle.
"I DON'T LIKE HIM! HE'S AN UNDEAD ABOMINATION!"
"Son, I know these feelings can be hard to deal with—"
"This is not—it's not that!" Wes spluttered.
"We just have to give him time, Charlie." his mother said. "He'll work it out on his own."
"I guess so." Wes's father said, casting a sad gaze on his son.
"We'll still love and support you no matter who you love. Even if that person is another boy. Or a 'ghost'", his mother made quotes in the air with her fingers. "We want you to know that." his mother said.
His father nodded. "But if you like this boy, you need to just ask him out. I don't want to hear about you being caught lurking outside Fentonworks again. A restraining order is no way to start a relationship."
Wes glared at his father.
"I'm not interested in a relationship with that thing—"
His father and mother exchanged pitying glances.
"Ugh!" Wes huffed.
"Just promise us you'll stay away from Fentonworks unless invited, okay sweetie?" his mom asked.
"FINE!" Wes snapped. Anything to shut them up and their ridiculous theories.
He grabbed his backpack from where he'd laid it next to the table, and stormed off to his room. There, he could be safe from his parents' weirdness. Safe to plan...now more than ever he had to prove that Fenton was Phantom. The ecto-entity did nothing but cause havoc in his life, making all his classmates think he was crazy and his parents think he was gay and in denial. Who knew what it would do next?
He started throwing gear into his bag: binoculars, a patented Fenton Ghost Tracker 2001, trail mix because it was going to be a long night.
He just needed to be more careful and not get caught in his observations this time...

Food for thought 9
So when Chikara is pregnant with Hoshi she’s pretty whinny and moody, it’s only towards the last part of her pregnancy does she kinda chill out a little and returns to her more laid back and casual self
I imagine Higari was relativly calm through out the most of Chikara’s pregnancy - he knew his sis was stubborn and tough, so he never really took her complaining all that seriously when Cementoss made him watch her.
When the due date gets closer Higari starts to get a little nervous - his sis was gonna give birth very soon and he was soon gonna be an uncle, but he tried to not let the stress show so as to not stress out Chikara or worry Ecto. Despite this even Chikara notices how cautious he’s being, so one day Chikara has the clever idea to pull a little prank on her brother
Higari is watching Chikara as Cementoss is out doing some errands, he’s in the kitchen making a coffee, listening in to the radio as he grabs the milk from the fridge. Chikara is lazing on the sofa, watching Higari with her head in her hand....before she suddenly yells ‘HIGARI THE BABYS COMING!!’
Higari spat out his drink all over the floor and then tripped in his haste to get to Chikara, he’s asking a flurry of questions while trying to get himself together, and oh god he had to call Cementoss and get Ecto to bring the car round, and who would watch Haiya while he was with Chikara and how long would it take Cementoss to get back and-
...He scowls at Chikara when he catches sight of her trying not to laugh...before she suddenly bursts out laughing and wheezing,
Higari, quite embaressed and huffy puffy, storms off to clean up the mess he made in the kitchen, meanwhile Chikara was trying to not die choaking on her own laughter
Higari: *cleaning up his mess* Hmph! Chikara: BWAHAHAH- I-I’M- *gasp* I’M SORRY HIGARI! I-PFFT! I C-COULDN’T HELP MYSELFAAHAHA! OH GOD! I CAN’T FUCKING BREATH! *gasp*- Y-YOUR-YOUR FACE WAS PRICELESS!! I-OH GOD- MY LUNGS HURT!

"... have you ever heard the saying just because you can doesnt mean you should?" they offer as they reach the door "and no its not but sir you are driving me nuts!" they pap his shoulder before looking to where they were. it was time?
"Heard it plenty, but thats never stopped me before." Zhyvr grins, knocking.
"Enter." Comes a voice from within, tired but stern, undercut by a barely audible jabber.
Zhyvr gives you a glance and nods, opening the door with a heavy huff.
Inside are great arched windows with thick glass and wrought iron, draped in heavy wine dark curtains drawn shut, the room lit not by the sun or electricity but by candles, clotted blood red and flickering in their many holders. The walls hold paintings, intricate in oils, tapestries and sculptures both on the floor and in the walls themselves. Huge stone steps lead up to a dais, carpeted by a long rug of deep blues, many shades swirling together, things lurking in the darkness.
It leads to a throne, flanked by standing torches, carved from dark wood and accented with gold and jewels, carved with waves and storms, sunken ships and lost bodies and tentacles. The woman upon it is both bigger and smaller than you’d expect, large for an ancient still young yet small for most any eternal, standing, or rather sitting at just below nine feet.
The skeleton queen’s legs are crossed with soft and well-worn leather pants tucked into high boots, around her waist a belt and above a black corset tighter than possible on a human, no flesh or ecto in the way, over a ruffled shirt in a pale sky blue. By her side sits a cutlass, on her belt a knife and more than one flintlock. Upon her skull sits no crown but a scarf just a shade off her shirt and so much older, worn down and heavily torn with more than a few patches to hold it together. And on top of that is a tricorn edged with gold to match the grommets of her corset, the leather black and creased from centuries of use.
Her bones are chipped and scarred, glitches dancing across them, sections of her dancing off and back on as she stares you down with eyes an intense, if fuzzy, white. No judgment is held within, just calm acceptance and quiet, knowing expectation.
“Dragon, correct?” Her voice is smooth and deep, a stammering pitch ripping from the reverie of an enjoyable listen. “I’ve been looking forward to meeting you.”

Chapter 4- Flying Fish
The plot thickens this chapter. What are they smelling? Who’s footprints has Ecto found? When are these stories going to collide?
Enjoy Chapter 4, and please share! I feed off love.
Red belongs to @theguardiansofredland
Ecto belongs to @ectochoir
Red knows that not everyone is as fast as him underwater. Not everyone can be blessed with the fins and strength that a Kipling has. But every time he turns back, he sees Avon struggling with her wings and cloak through the water. He keeps having to stop, waiting for her to catch up. At least he doesn’t have to worry about her drowning- she seems to have the ability to perform magic spells, and cast one on the beach. Nothing as crazy as what he’s seen Selene do, but it makes both their lives easier.
The two near the ocean monument that Red calls home. The deep ocean absorbs the rays, shafts of sunlight filtering through the water as the sun sets low in the sky. Prismarine glows against the water, the walls slowly shifting color- from blue to a light purple to teal, so benign that most wouldn’t notice. Guardians are beginning to return to the safety of the monument, where they can rest for the night after a long day of foraging. Fish are already beginning to light up, turning the water into a flowing dance of light. Red’s even starting to get his night colors.
There’s a rush of water, tossling Red’s hair and tugging on his clothes. He turns, and sees that Avon has stopped, wings outstretched to produce drag and slow her. “Red, there’s guardians ahead.”
Red looks at the guardians, then to the tense Avon. She can’t help but laugh. “Those are the least of your worries.” She states. “So long as you have no intention of hurting them, you’ll be fine. I’d be a little more concerned that you’re going to spook a pufferfish with your wings.”
Avon curls her appendages closer to her body, and tries her best to swim after Red. Without disturbing any pufferfish or guardians. She can feel them watching her. Large red eyes, with spikes that protrude when they pause to stare. One suddenly gets a burst of energy, wiggling it’s disproportionate tail to swim between Red and Avon. The spikes retract, making the guardian more streamline. Avon grabs for her trident, but she only grabs empty water.
The guardian places itself between Avon and Red, staring down the trespasser. “No, no. She’s not a foe.” Red announces. “Please, let her pass.”
Avon feels as if the entire ocean is staring at her. She doesn’t belong down here. She’s not a fish. She belongs in the End. The rotund guardian eventually moves on, and Avon swims as fast as she can to catch up with Red. Stay close to her.
The two reach the monument, entering through the grand hall. Sea lanterns hang from the pillars and arches, kelp and seagrass dancing in the light. The monument is about as confusing as a stronghold, and Red doesn’t bother to slow down so that Avon can figure out where she’s going. Red doesn’t stop until the two have arrived in her room.
It’s a simple home, with chests and a bed, a table to sit at, and food tucked all over. The walls are decorated with bright colored coral, fans waving in the soft current. Red offers a cooked salmon to the visitor. “You lost a lot of blood crashing into the wreck. Salmon will help. Y’know, cause they’re the same color?”
“I don’t think that’s how it works.” Avon mutters. Red sighs. This girl really can’t take a joke. She fills her own stomach with a fish meal, and pulls out a bag to pack. She can’t put everything in, not if she’s going to carry it on her own. But Red also doesn’t know how long it could be before she’s ever to sleep in her own bed again. In the end, most of her bag is packed with food, a bedroll, and some pickles to light up wherever they camp. As Red starts to close up the bag, Avon is suddenly hovering over her. “What about a weapon?”
Red jumps, spooked by the menacing woman. Her wings remind him of a bat’s, but darker and much scarier. She’s so quiet, even underwater Red hardly heard her move closer. “I don’t need a weapon. There’s nothing we’ll be fighting.”
“How can you be so sure?” Avon questions, backing away to avoid being hit by the backpack as Red swings it onto his back.
“Because mobs don’t attack unless provoked. So as long as we don’t provoke them, we should be fine.” Red smiles. He’s proud to be able to live in such harmony with the world.
“But what if they think we’ve provoked them? You should be able to defend yourself, in case there’s a miscommunication.” Avon swims to the table, looking at the two chairs. “And we aren’t the only people out there. Someone could want to do you harm.”
For a second, Red almost believes that Avon seems to care about his well being, that he’s safe. Even though her sharp purple eyes don’t show it, she seems to want to protect Red as much as she wants to protect whoever this Jeane is.
“I’m not much of a fighter.” Red admits. She grabs a piece of paper and a quill, sitting down at the table to write her letter. “Let me just let Selene know where I’m off to.”
“Selene?” Avon echos, but Red doesn’t bother to answer. She pens the note, explaining that Red was going to be traveling. That she didn’t know how long she’d be gone, or where exactly her journey would take her. Just that she was looking for the End. She knows that if Selene wanted to find them, she easily could. All she needs to know is what they’re doing, which this note will take care of. Red folds it, marking it for her girlfriend, and leaving it on the table held down by a nautilus shell.
Red straightens, taking a deep breath of the cool water. “Alright. Let me just say goodbye to my family and then we can get on our way.”
Avon frowns. She’s not sure she likes the idea of traveling at night, but she wants to start moving as soon as possible. The sooner they leave, the sooner she can get back to the End. She follows Red out of her room, glancing back at the cozy abode. How long will they be gone? How long will it be until Red, or even herself, will get to sleep in their own bed again? She feels bad, tearing Red away from such a secure life. Avon will never admit this aloud, but she needs Red’s help.
Avon reels when they enter a giant room in the center of the monument, and find it’s filled with guardians. All staring at them. But Red doesn’t seem concerned in the slightest. She swims into the crowd of one-eyed fish, petting them on the head. A few guppies swim up to Red, playing with her hair and tugging on her fins. From a hole in the ceiling, a massive elder guardian sinks down. Pale, the color of gravel and water in the End, the Elder Guardian observes the gathering. Red swims up to her, and gives the mother guardian a hug.
“I’m going to be gone, Mama Gummi. Maybe for a long time. But don’t worry, I’m sure the time will pass by in the blink of an eye!” Red laughs at her joke, before looking down at her hands. Twiddling her fingers together. She takes an unsteady breath, and whispers to them all. “Please...stay safe.”
She turns back to Avon, who is silent at the mouth of the chamber. Red gives her a nod, and starts to swim away from her family. It’s time to go.
The two exit the grand, blue halls of the monument into the dark sea. As they swim away, Red’s body begins to glow. Avon can’t help but stare in awe. Luminescent blue stripes along her body, and large blue disks rest on her shoulder and forearm like epaulettes and armguards. She’s glowing with the moonlight, alight with life. It grows a bit brighter when Avon hears a sniffle from Red.
He’s crying. It’s impossible to see in the saltwater, but with the tears are still there. In the glow of Red’s body, Avon can see his face start to turn red as he holds down his emotions. Avon looks down at her hands, then begins to reach out. Her hand nearly settles on Red’s shoulder, to comfort the kipling, but at the last second she retracts the sentiments. Red may not want to be touched by Avon. It’s best that Avon keeps everyone at arm’s length away, as always. This mess should change nothing.
Red collects himself by the time the two reach the surface, breathing in the air to calm down. He doesn’t want to be seen crying in front of Avon. Avon practically throws herself onto land, flicking her wings to free them of water and wringing out her cloak. Red is hardly even done getting water out of his boots before Avon stretches out her arm. In the moonlight, he sees the irregular cut of purple and grey at the end of her sleeve. With a scrape and a clang, the trident escapes its resting place in the sand and leaps into Avon’s hand. The trident is enchanted with loyalty. All this long, Avon could have called her weapon to her hand and struck down any one of Red’s family at any time.
But she didn’t. She stayed true to her word. Red wrinkles her nose, a rotten scent filling it. “Ugh, what smells like rotten eggs?”
Avon pauses, holding her trident as she sniffs the air. She narrows her eyes. It’s similar to the scent of gunpowder, like a creeper having just exploded. But the sulfur is stronger, more like it’s been burning than blown up. Avon has only smelled this once before. “Brimstone.”
-----------
The sun is turning red over the desert. Sand is blown into the sky by heavy winds, gathering into storm clouds on the horizon. Friction between particles of sand strike into lightning, running down to the ground and turning sand into massive glass sculptures. Ecto is caught in the darkening sky, the wind pelting her face with sand. She pulls her hood low and mask high, till all is exposed is her eyes. She shouldn’t be out here, but she left a whole pile of cacti by the mystery structure, and she’s not letting so many precious succulents go to waste.
The only problem is she’s forgotten where the swirly frame is. If it were a normal day, Ecto would just stack as high as she could to spot it. The material is so easy to see, she’d find her way in a second. But Ecto can hardly see past her own nose, much less far enough away to see it. If she stacked higher, the wind would knock her from the tower. She just has to walk, and try to figure out where it is by her troubled memory.
The wind picks up speed as the sandstorm swallows Ecto, and she stumbles against the blustering wind. A gust of wind sends sand flying into Ecto’s face, and a horrible scent makes her nose furrow. She takes a knee, unable to fight the wind as it strengthens. And in the sand, she sees footsteps. Strange footsteps, the sand melted into tracks.
Crawling on the ground, Ecto follows. The scent rises from the trail, and sometimes Ecto swears she can hear a voice in the distance. But when the trail goes cold, so do the noises. So does that rotten scent. Ecto keeps crawling, feeling more lost than ever.
Until she strikes her head against the smooth frame of the swirling monument. Ecto stands, relieved to see her pile of cacti has mostly been protected from the wind by the edifice. She looks back, trying to catch a glimpse of the trail she followed. The trail that led her back to her cacti. Ecto wraps her arms around herself. She feels like someone’s watching her. Someone who shouldn’t be in Ecto’s desert is lurking nearby.
Ecto gathers the cacti up, and takes off into the sandstorm. From here, she can remember her way back home. Right now, she just wants out of the sandstorm, and away from the sensation of being watched.

I’m back with another ficlet, this time with my sona! I wanted to develop Storm a bit more through interactions with other characters, and the lovely @theguardiansofredland gave me permission to use their sona, Red, in the story. So without further adieu: here it is!
“So where are we going again?” Red asked, peeking around the corner of a stack of barrels to watch Storm load up a shulker box.
She threw in several ender pearls, dusted off her hands of the purple fallout, and straightened out to look at Red. “Woodland mansion! I found it a couple of weeks ago when I was out gathering spruce. I’ve only ever been to two, and I figured you’d like to see one? Plus, it’s got decent loot.”
Red furrowed his brow. “You mean the illager houses? Aren’t those kinda dangerous?”
“Yeah, but you’re with me, and I know how to handle these guys. I’ve even shot a crossbow or two myself! Plus, sometimes they have music diiiscs….”
Red perked up her fins. “Can I get one?” she implored.
“They’re all yours!” said Storm, smiling at the kipling’s sudden enthusiasm. She threw her cloak over her shoulder and grabbed the shimmering purple sword leaning against another of the barrels. Red put on his boots, grabbing a handful of carrots out of that barrel. He bit into one as the two headed out the door of Storm’s mountain base, Red using the water elevator while Storm engaged her elytra. The former, whooshing downwards into a small pool of water below, marveled at the vast crow’s wings spreading from Storm’s back as she skillfully maneuvered her way downward. The two met at the base of the summit and set off into the forest.
“How are Ecto and Avon?” asked Storm casually. The duo had been travelling for nearly half an hour, a pleasant trek through a mostly empty forest. Dappled sunlight filtered through the leaves, giving a light green glow to the scene.
Red, doing her best to keep up with Storm’s long strides, replied, “Good! Ecto’s hard at work as usual with her cacti, and Avon’s on a hunt for endermites. Not sure why, but she said it was important.” He absentmindedly picked a mushroom, twirling it in his hands.
Storm glanced over at Red’s faraway gaze. “And how’s Ms. Gummi and the rest of the guardians? I haven’t been by the ocean in a while.”
“They’re fine, there was a misunderstanding at one of the temples recently that I had to sort out, but nothing too bad. Do you know the hermits?” Red asked, internally chuckling at Storm’s title for Mama Gummi.
“I know pretty much everyone,” Storm replied. “Grian told me about the incident, said he had quite a fun time destroying the farm with all of you. If I know Grian, that sounds right up his alley.” She chuckled fondly. “He and Ren came to visit a few weeks back. Grian scared the life out of me when I tried to give Ren a little jumpscare! They came to one of my temporary houses..”
Red half-listened pleasantly to Storm’s ramblings about the hermit’s recent visits. Storm certainly did know everyone, that was for sure. Always moving around, never sticking in one place for too long, she could be found all over the map. He was surprised to see her yesterday, and even more surprised that she wanted to tackle a woodland mansion with him!
As if reading the kipling's thoughts, Storm turned the topic back to the journey. “Anyways, I was really glad you wanted to come with me! These trips can get a little lonely, and backup is always great to have in places like these mansions. I missed you since my last visit and thought I’d come invite you to something fun.”
“Yeah!” Red’s glasses tilted slightly as she grinned at Storm. “Although, illagers aren’t exactly my idea of fun.”
“It’s an adventure!” Storm proclaimed, throwing her hands dramatically into the air. “A quest, if you will!” She struck an exaggerated pose, and Red couldn’t help but to giggle.
“And speaking of adventure…” she pushed aside an obtrusive branch to reveal a dark wooden structure looming out of seemingly nowhere. “We’re here.”
The front of the mansion was around the side of the building, giving the two the opportunity to properly outfit themselves before heading in. Storm took a thin iron chestplate for herself and plopped a diamond helmet onto Red. “Gotta protect those fins!” she remarked cheerily. Red didn’t know how she was so calm- he was a little panicky at the sight of the massive structure.
The duo approached the domineering front doors. Storm realized Red’s apprehension, thinking quickly about what would help the kipling overcome her fear. She smirked and turned to Red. “Last one to find a loot chest has to eat a poisonous potato!”
Apprehension momentarily forgotten, Red’s eyes shone with the glint of competition. “You’re on!”
The two playfully shoved each other out of the way, racing to open the door first. Subtle “hhhruhs” could be heard from the inhabitants as the spruce doors slammed shut.

Reaction Post Two: Ectoplasmic Boogaloo
Misc thoughts now that I’ve both seen the show, and had time to think.*
Kinda feel like I missed an episode or two? I could swear there’s screenshots going around that I never saw in context, and collective knowledge that’re so consistent I could swear I missed something...but that might just be the result of a ten year old active fandom. Is it ever stated how long Vlad was in the hospital with ecto-acne? Or is “five years” just a really popular fanon?
I see why so many people call for a reboot; there’s a lot of neat stuff in the show, but due to the cancellation a bunch of threads got dropped or warped out of recognition. Almost a “rough draft” sort of vibe.
One of the major problems with S3 (starting with the S2 finale, actually) is that they tried to go Bigger! Moar Extreme!! Higher Stakes!!! But worldwide disasters weren’t what the show as about. The pacing in Urban Jungle was terrible (plants taking over should be a slow, creepy story, not a five second greensplosion), Vortex was way to overpowered, and Phantom Planet really only makes sense as someone’s dream. Like. All of Amity Park got dragged into an alternate dimension in Reign Storm, because the Ghost King Dark Pariah was supposed to be a big deal. Leave that as a biggest disaster.
“Million Dollar Ghost” was an adorable episode. Danny trying to cheer Jack back up was painfully sweet and dorky.
The two episodes with Danielle are, together, or separately, the most actually horrifying episodes. Melting clones, who look scared as they go. Seriously. And if you strip the supernatural/sci-fi elements from the summary, the first episode from Danny’s perspective would be “parents’ old friend kidnaps you for nonconsensual reproductive reasons, and then tries to kill you and your baby sister in a fit of rage.” No wonder he’s exuberant when Sam & Tucker save them.
Meanwhile, Maternal Instincts from Maddie’s perspective is also terrifying; lost in the wilderness with your child, the only hope for communication or travel to the outside world is in the house of a man you barely know anymore, who yelled “NO ONE SAYS NO TO ME!” when you refused to leave your husband for him.
Speaking of Maternal Instincts, I think it shows Danny didn’t get all his forgetfulness from Jack; Maddie’s so laser focused on finding a phone that she’s disregarding the vehicles.
(and Maddie, you’re sad that Danny isn’t spending as much time with you as when he was a tiny child, but when he hugged you and said “I love you Mom!”, after your smile and “I love you too,” you physically dislodged him and singsonged “clingy!” Really? I get being uncomfortable with physical contact, but calling your kid clingy for hugging you in one of the few calm moments of a crisis is...kinda mean, Maddie)
~
Thought on Living Large: Danny's not “letting money go to his head and being an asshole”, Danny’s fucking depressed. We’ve seen Danny get a big ego and turn into a jerk; example, every episode where he gets temporary popularity (invited to Dash’s party thanks to Jazz, dating Paulina, judging the beauty contest). Thanks to Val’s arc, we know one of the things affecting popularity at Casper High is family wealth. If Danny was being a jerk thanks to money he’d be at school, flaunting it. He’s not. He’s not even attending school, he’s barely leaving his room, and he’s irritable. The kid’s depressed.
It makes sense; he just underwent a major life change that he had no control over in a few days, and lost nearly all contact with his family. (I think his parents are out of character selling Fenton Works for any amount of money, but that’s a sidenote). Danny lost his home. He’s in a strange house, his parents’ neglect thanks to their ghost-hunting obsession is no longer mitigated by a small house where they have to interact regularly, and Jazz is hiding in the library. Major upheaval followed by isolation in a strange place. Poor fucking kid.

I disagree that “Vlad wants to rule the world” came out of nowhere, but I agree season 3 bungled him terribly. Forget “Phantom Planet”, it’s “Infinite Realms” that’s the worst piece of characterization for him. “take me to my destiny” what the heck,Vlad, that’s so vague. Where’d the Vlad we saw in Reign Storm go?
Vlad (in S1 & S2) makes the most sense if I assume he has long-term goals unrelated to the Fentons. Like he wants revenge on Jack and to ‘win’ Maddie, but honestly he’s had twenty fucking years for that, it’s like the college reunion came up on his calendar and he want “oh, nice opportunity”. (though Jack’s firm belief in ghosts despite never seeing one until ep1 makes sense if we assume Vlad’s been periodically sending things like the vultures to mess with him invisibly...)
When I first watched Bitter Reunions, I was struck by how badly Vlad handled Danny. In retrospect, it’s even more startling considering how well he manipulated Val. So I thought, why? Well, with Val, Vlad is exploiting her negative emotions towards Phantom and other ghosts. Whereas with Danny, Vlad seems almost incapable of understanding that Danny likes his dad, and in Maternal Instincts he’s likewise confused by Maddie’s loyalty to her husband. Maybe its just that his own view of Jack blinds him to other’s perspectives, but he’s also surprised that Jack defeats him in Million Dollar Ghost. Jack was aided by love and protective feelings for his family, positive emotions. I don’t really think “Vlad has trouble understanding positive emotions in others” is a solid explanation, but it’s a start.
Alsooooooooo, re: Bitter Reunions and most of his other interaction with Danny: Vlad's making Skulker work for him, the vultures (despite being almost 2000 years older than him) do as he says, and we see him regularly searching the Ghost Realm for artifacts and getting into fights.
I think Vlad has spend ten to twenty years (whenever his ghost powers really got going) beating up other ghosts to get what he wants. “No one says no to me!” “Must I beat you with one hand behind my back before you admit you’re outmatched?”
He’s used to manipulating humans, but he saw Danny first and foremost as “ghost kid”, and so tries the same tactics he’s used on all the other ghosts; hit them until they do what you want. This...doesn’t work, with Danny. Sure, Vlad outpowers him, but the kid has a support network, and he thinks on his feet (making a shield bubble after seeing Vlad’s square flat shield? threatening to out both of them? The kid forgets about his own powers half the time, but adapts quickly, which is one of the big reasons hes lasted so long in the hero biz)
~
Danny never came out to his parents (excepting Phantom Planet) because as long as they didn’t know, he could keep believing they’d accept him no matter what. Schrodinger’s Parental Acceptance.
I think that’s all my post-series thoughts for now.
~
*I apparently wrote this post months or years ago and never posted it, though I did post the segment about depression on it’s own at some point?
