"To Heal Through the Reminder of Another Person Is to Injure Yourself Yet Again," or "Dear Little Brother,'
Aaron hates it every-time he glances at Alfred. All he sees is Vincent, so idealistic, so full of resolve and stubbornness. That stubbornness he once adored, that he once found endearing, ended up being his almost downfall. He should've kept Alfred at an arms length, to order Alfred to stay on the other side of the world to avoid becoming attached to a ticking-time bomb yet again. Alfred wasn't truly loyal to the Foundation. Not even to him. For the other man, it was a curse of collective connection to his nation, rather than individual. It was utilitarianist, the needs of a nation outweighing the needs of one singular person. Aaron understood that duty very well, but it still struck painfully as yet another ghost of Vincent. Yet something deep inside his still human psyche claws pathetically, craving some kind of connection. It sunk its sharp fangs into him, into, Alfred, and suddenly Aaron couldn't stop the other man from inching closer to him. It wasn't like he was going to get rid of Alfred any time soon. Alfred cared too much, he was too sentimental. Too caring. Too talkative. Too generous with physical touch. And Aaron selfishly missed receiving that sort of affection from Vincent.
Alfred adores Aaron, enjoying every single second with him. His sour, thunderous looks are reminiscent of Arthur, his attire just screaming quiet, intelligent, sharp wit. He knew that he'd likely outlive the other man. No matter how many times the younger man claims to be immortal, Alfred has accepted the other man's eventual passing, for he has learnt in his centuries that Aaron will eventually face the inevitable of Memento Mori. He knew he shouldn't have purposely grown close to Aaron. Semi-Immortal or not, it was dangerous to him, damaging to Aaron. Selfishly, Alfred indulged himself by showering the younger man with attention, praise, encouragement, a sticky feeling of need to smother the stoic man with an almost fatherly affection welling up inside him.

No one ever tells Obi-Wan that he is his Master's padawan.
Of course, for most people who had known Qui-Gon Jinn, telling someone else they resembled the the man would in fact be a thinly veiled insult. But still, Obi-Wan feels the absence of comparisons almost as strongly as he feels the absence of his Master.
There is no one for Obi-Wan to push against now, no strong presence at his side, ready to grab him by scruff and pull him back from another reckless stunt. It's an odd feeling. He has been set loose against his wishes. There is no one to his left and Anakin at his heels, but Anakin had needed, still needs, a strong, gentle figure for his prickly but sensitive heart. For even their worst bickering could not hold a candle to the scathing remarks he and Qui-Gon had shot at each other and Obi-Wan knows he cannot push and needle Anakin in the same way.
When Qui-Gon had been alive they had been an amusing, mirrored pair, the maverick and his rule-following padawan. Opposites clashing against each other, yet working together to complete the most difficult missions. Few saw that Qui-Gon's impertinence had indeed rubbed off on his padawan, cultivated from that small, angry initiate, because the only way to rebel against the rule-breaker had been to parrot the Council fastidiously. No one would ever get to see that again. Obi-Wan is one half of a mirrored pair trying to complete a routine on his own. What once was an impish, teasing compliance is now a betrayal of all his Master's values.
"How could Qui-Gon raise such a model Jedi?" He hears them say, "It's admirable that Master Kenobi was appointed to the Council despite his Master's maverick ways."
Padawan Kenobi would have yelled and kicked and screamed. Master Kenobi is serene. It should feel like an achievement. It feels like a disappointment.
Sometimes, Obi-Wan looks at the shape of the man he has moulded himself into, and aches to be his Master's padawan.

funniest scene in hotd by a mile is larys doing his little guy performance for the first time in public, giving it his all and finally saying the speech about rare blooms he has been rehearsing for the past week as a way to carefully present the similarities between him and alicent and to flatter her? threaten her? offer himself to her? but alicent is on the inside like why is this guy so fucking weird. and then "lovely weather isn't it?" with this face 🙂

With Percy Jackson finally coming out today I feel the need to say that if One Piece had a PJO AU, Luffy would be the son of Poseidon, not to follow the same path as Percy, but because it would be funny af that the son of the God of the Sea couldn't fucking swim.

I find absolutely poetic that Leia is more like Anakin because it is a very girlcore thing to do to be exactly like your father and inherit his toxic traits ❤️‍🩹 I love her that's why I am also a Leia kinnie.

hey do you ever think about teucer. teucer's neat. and the way agamemnon uses the fact that teucer's a nothos (illegitimate child, "bred in darkness") of telamon as a point of motivation as he praises him is pretty damn elegant

If anyone deserves to choose a new name it's normal. Imagine being named after an unattainable standard set for you by your parent. Like post canon, let him pick himself a name out.
Like Hero must have a hard time with her name too but I think she can reclaim it with like "I'm the hero of my own story" maybe.

I really wonder why Kyborg often talks about and heavily mourns Crystalena but literally never brings up his dad specifically. Was his dad a bad parent? Does Kyborg just remember his mom better? Did Blaine forget that Kyborg has a dad? I have so many questions.
