I need a fic where Bruce realizes this kid who shoved his way into his sidekick roll will not be leaving anytime soon, and instead of emotionally distancing himself he becomes a combination Helicopter Mom and Shotgun Dad.
☆彡
Tim: Bruce, I’m headed out to meet my friends at the mall.
Bruce: Is that Kent boy going to be there?
Tim, rolling his eyes: Yes, Kon is going. And so is Bart, and Cassie, and maybe Bernard if he can make it.
Bruce: Hnn. Do you have everything? Coat, scarf, keys, wallet, tracker, pepper spray, dagger, kryptonite shard, emergency beacon, first aid kid, fire starter, extra pair of-
Tim: Yes, Dad! I already went through the list with Alfred. I’ll be fine.
☆彡
Kon: Hello Sir! I’m here to pick up Tim!
Bruce: Follow me.
…
Bruce: Sit down.
Kon: In your study? Is Tim on the way, or…?
Bruce: I just thought you might need reminding of the fact that I have a vault downstairs full of items specifically designed to take down a Kryptonian.
Kon: Whuh?
Bruce: You should probably ask your father about the time I was slightly annoyed with him for encroaching on one of my cases.
Kon: Why are you telling me this?
Bruce: Now just imagine what would happen if someone were to hurt my darling little boy.
*door opens*
Tim: Hey Bruce, Alfie said Kon was here, have you seen him? Oh! Hey, why are you two in here??
Bruce: Oh, hey sweetheart, we were just chatting. Have a good time at the carnival!
☆彡
Dick, pouting: I don’t understand, you’re not this protective over who Jason or I date.
Bruce: Don’t be ridiculous, Jason and I may have our problems, but he would never betray me by gallivanting off with someone I disapprove of.
Dick, who covered for Jay sneaking out to visit Roy Harper just last night: Mhm yeah, sure. And you’re not worried about me?
Bruce: Chum, I’ve known who you were going to marry since you were 12 years old.
Dick: WHAT?
Bruce: I have the whole ceremony already planned. I’ve got Gotham’s best wedding planner on standby. You have a very nice house waiting for you both, 20 minutes from here. A modest 7 bedrooms on 5 acres of land.
Dick: I’m not even dating anyone?!
Bruce: I can’t wait to meet my 3 grandbabies:)

Soap who learns just how touch starved Ghost is and then ghost also learning just how willing soap is to let ghost glomp him.
Even if ghost was a fucking brick wall of a man, soap would always have his arms open wide to hold the other. Ghost would wrap strong arms around soap waist and hum in pleasure as he feels soap ease his fingers through ghosts hair.
It was gentle and sickeningly sweet.
Like a mama holding her child, close and filled with love. Something ghost never experienced. Someone being so gentle with him. Ghost was more of a machine than a man. Throwing away things like feelings was what ghost was trained to do. He wasn’t supposed to feel sad, to feel happy, to feel anything.
Oh but how Simon wished he could.
For his whole life Simon was a bird stuck in its cage, tied down to its perch. Wings clipped. And feathers turned a dull white. The color long gone from them.
He was brought up as a pawn. One that fell under hands that couldn’t care less about where they moved him across the board that is the battlefield. Just another insignificant piece on the board.
But Johnny saw through that. And did more for Simon than he thought he deserved.
He saw through the walls that ghost had built up, over years and years. And then Johnny tore through them.
Tore through them and saw Simon.
A shriveled mess, so lonely and so scared. Johnny saw a dim light in Simons eyes. Light that wasn’t just refracted from the glint of ghosts blade. It was human. Something ghost had desperately trained out of his own body.
The human, Simon, was shy at first. Barely peeking his head out. Soap was used to ghost.
But Johnny could most definitely get used to Simon.
Simon was demure. The opposite of ghost. He was still silent though. But it wasn’t from the instincts of a trained killer, it was from the instincts of someone who’s been beat down so much that they can’t help but curl in on themselves.
But just like soap brought ghost out his spot in the corner of the room, Johnny brought Simon out of ghosts shadow.
Simon could remember all the times soap switched to Johnny. That loud and playful energy switched to calm and tender. All to meet with Simon. The one ghost had kept hidden for years.
Johnny was slow and patient with Simon. Gentle coaxing and soft chats. Soon Simon began to speak. Walking out from behind ghosts shadow to meet with johnnys kind eyes.
It wasn’t just ghost and soap, a connection through their personas, but now it was Simon and Johnny. They mixed together just as well as ghost and soap did, if not better.
Ghost would turn to Simon when his social battery ran out. Softly pulling of soaps shirt to lead the man to ghosts room. Where they’d spend hours laying together. Simon and Johnny.
Simon held onto Johnny like the man was his salvation.
And for what simons been through? Johnny might as well been god in a human form.

So I went to the wiki page for the henghill Bullet & Brain mission of 2.2 looking for some dialogue I had missed and
a) I found something incredibly tasty that slotted into some other thoughts I'd been having, more on that on another day, and
b) I saw this super fun little trivia at the bottom, which!
I knew Penacony characters like Boothill took a lot of inspirations from old movies, but I didn't realize it was even in his and Dan Heng's relationship, that's so cool!!
It fits them very well, it's such a fun reference. "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" was an old buddy Western film (from 1969- nice) about a pair of outlaws. Butch Cassidy was the leader of a gang, and described as clever, affable, and talkative. Meanwhile, his closest companion, the Sundance Kid, was known as a man of few words.
Cassidy's original birth name was much more plain, but similar to Boothill, he took on a new moniker when he became an outlaw. "Cassidy" had been the last name of his beloved mentor, who taught him how to shoot and ride. And Sundance Kid was known as he was because Sundance was the name of his hometown, and it was the only place that had ever managed to catch and jail him, back when he'd been younger (also similar to Dan Heng, but ouch).
These two stick together like glue throughout the length of the film- through Cassidy's leadership of the gang being challenged, through a train robbery gone wrong, through being pursued by mercenaries, and even through fleeing to Bolivia and trying to start over together.
I don't want to say too much more, since the mission title is referencing one specific movie that I've never seen. I kinda wanna watch it now, though, just to see the inspiration that went into Boothill and Dan Heng and how they get along. I just think it's really sweet that these two were literally made to be the best of bros, how lovely is that. 💕

dp x dc prompt #55
After 14 separate grease fires, 12 minor knife fights, several layers deep messes, and 4 unidentifiable cooking attempts, Alfred finally gets fed up with the bat kids(excepting Jason, of course) messing up his kitchen attempting to cook. No matter how many times he tries to get them to stay out, they always seem to find their way back into the kitchen and a mess not far behind. If he can’t keep them out, the very least he can do is attempt to get them to learn how to cook. Maybe a culinary class would do them good.
Danny was finally living the good life. Mostly. His rogues have settled down, and his parents have stepped back some from ghost hunting after a string of failures(that may or may not be his fault) of actually hunting any ghost. It all started when he let slip that he was planning to move away from Amity Park. Now he’s got an entire checklist of things to work through to be deemed competent enough to be left(mostly) alone. Number one? Lunch Lady is sending him to learn how to cook.
Culinary do x dc adventures, Worst Cooks In America style. There’s going to be so many grease fires, and maybe someone will even actually learn something.
or- are there any heroes that actually know how to cook?
