hello. i accidentally left my tumblr domain and saw how popular wolfstar was and was v surprised… The other side certainly lives differently… Any ideas as to why Wolfstar (and by relation all the other subsequently marauder ships like james/sirius and regulus/james , yes that is a thing) are popular ?
All thoughts on Sirius/Remus are here.
Oh, you have been on this blog too long.
As for why they're popular, it's the aesthetic and the young hot guy slash. In particular, from what I understand, there was a very influential Marauders era fic that had very little to do with their characterizations that is fueling this latest burst.
I am working on condensing the FictionAlley SCUSA Master Ship List (Pairing List) into a GoogleSheets. I have the list of ship names using the Wayback machine but the tagging, or shortened pairing names, are kind of hard to find if not listed on Fanlore or the Shipping Wiki. For example Harmony for Harry/Hermione is common but for less common pairing of Neville & Lavender is extremely harder to find. So what are any shortened pairing names that you know of other than Harmony, Drinny, Druna and Fredmione?
It's for rarepair shippers, though the definition of rarepair is fairly subjective. Basically, if you don't have very many people to yammer about your ship with or the frustration of little to no content, come join us me. Right now it's just me.
It won't let me share a link, I think that's cause I made it private so if you want an invite then drop me a dm or something!
Tbh the problem with ship wars is that everyone tries to find a moral high ground to prove their ship is superior when actually shipping should be about making two characters kiss like a kid playing with barbie dolls
im a multishipper until you try to touch my babies ok.
james and lily? absolutely. lily and mary? adorable. james and regulus? grumpyxsunshine GOLD. regulus and barty? our favorite psychos. barty and evan? you know it's growing on me
but other ships instead of wolfstar????? like??? they're the only ones for each other argue w the goddamn wall
Harry calling Draco his arch nemesis just a few months after Lord Voldemort tried to murder him for the second time but also immediately thinking that he kinda misses him
Harry getting hit in the head by a piece of luggage because he got so distracted by the sight of Draco changing that he didn’t notice someone swinging a large object at his face
Harry lying to the Order and Magical Law Enforcement to obfuscate Draco’s crimes at the end of sixth year
Voldemort immediately assuming Draco has gone looking for Harry when he goes missing during the Battle of Hogwarts…and being right
Narcissa assuming Harry will know where Draco is and if he’s still alive…and being right
Lucius getting mad at Draco in book 2 because he has spent the entire summer talking nonstop about Harry Potter
Harry forgetting about the time Voldemort possessed and nearly murdered Ginny but remembering every item he saw Draco look at in Borgin and Burkes 4 years previously
Are there any characters in HP, regardless of the absurdity it'd take to get them INTO a thruple, that you could see actually making a three-way relationship work? I guess my criteria here for "work" isn't even "the relationship is better than canon" it's just "yea they'd probably date for at least a year" which tbh is a low bar. Still! Does anyone pass it? Kinda seems like Tom/Lily/Alphard _does_ pass that bar, but Alphard hates every minute of it lol. Anyone else? Also zero points for thruples involving the weasley twins because they only got one person's worth of characterization and thus don't count.
See, the thing is, I can't exactly point to Tom/Alphard/Lily, not only because it's one of those things I'd say "no" if someone asked me/would take extremely specific circumstances to work and even then would be a bit dicey, but also because two, arguably three, of those characters are ones @therealvinelle and I made up for fics/because we felt like it.
I mean, Alphard exists in a single sentence in which we learn he gave Sirius money. That's bad.
But canon characters? No. Look, Harry can't even stay friends with Ron and Hermione at the same time for six-month periods at a time, one of them is always pissed at one if not two of the others and threatening to never speak with them again.
And yeah, they're not representative of everyone, obviously, but I am scraping the bottom of my idea barrel here and I've got nothing. Unless Angelina's in a horrible tragicomedy of "I don't know which twin I'm dating :/" it's just not happening.
