#has Lancer figured out Danny is Phantom

When Danny first gets his powers he really struggles with them the first time he uses them.  He goes in and out of visibility without meaning to.  Solid objects just fall through his hands, etc. The only power he got down right off the bat was overshadowing.
Which is a shame because we missed out on an episode where he accidentally slips into someone’s body, freaks out, doesn’t know how to get out, and has to spend the whole day literally in someone else’s shoes until he can figure out how to leave their body.

DpxDc AU: Justice League requires all of its youngest members to list at least one adult emergency contact in case something happens out in the field- And Lancer did tell Danny to put his number down if he needed help!
Lancer wanted to call CPS, wanted to call them for years, but something was wrong with his beloved town and the government agents that came were always… ill mannered. To say the least. So with the young Mr.Fenton appearing wounded in his class on multiple occasions, sleeping through lectures even more often, Lancer felt himself gradually accept that no other adult was going to step up to protect this child.
He figures out his Identity as Phantom and it makes his rage boil hotter than Dante’s sixth layer of hell. Danny refuses to abandon his parents (who continue to hunt him unknowingly), and he refuses to let any of his ghostly responsibilities fall wayside (this CW fellow is a real piece of work!).
But for all the things he expected when he told Danny that he could be trusted and could help- Ms. Manson and Mr.Foley coming to him for help, patching wounds, offering snacks and covering for Danny when attacks occurred in class- he hadn’t expected the Justice League to be knocking on his door.
Lancer blinked at the appearance of Batman in his classroom after the final bell, but then his stomach dropped.
TELLTALE HEART THATS THE BATMAN!!
“Phantom listed you as his emergency contact. Have you had any recent communication with him?” The deep, gravel voice startled Lancer.
Lancer checks his phone, Danny had skipped class today; and while Lancer was working with Danny to get him after school lessons and tutoring for all of the hours he missed, it was uncommon for him not to respond at Lancer’s text asking for a confirmation of his safety.
“Not in 24 hours, but I can message him again.” Lancer is shaking as he types on his phone to team phantom-Who wouldn’t be nervous at both the implications of Danny’s safety and the Batman??
Superman flies into the room from the open doorway, “No luck, without a heartbeat I can’t find him. Where ever they have him it’s lead lined or he’s keeping himself invisible.”
SCARLET LETTER ITS SUPERMAN!?!
Danny doesn’t reply to Lancer, and neither do Danny’s friends.
“He has two team members with whom he is inseparable, if none of them are responding then all three have been accosted. I’m coming with you until we find them.” Lancer declares and while he’s sure that Batman is unimpressed, Superman gives him a sad smile and nods.
Thus Lancer joins the Justice League for a day, Helps to save Team Phantom and Informs the takedown of an illegal government agency.
Batman also slides him some adoption papers and a card for a lawyer if Lancer decides to formally adopt Danny. Lancer also wins a Wayne Excellence Award for Teaching that year but he’s pretty sure the money is unrelated to Danny’s alter ego- after all, Lancer is a fantastic teacher.

What a burden you are
((Hey kids wanna see Danny have Enough(tm) of Valerie['s bullshit from Valerie's POV and the fallout thereof?))
Ao3 Link
Valerie found herself reflecting on her time under Masters more than she already wanted, most nights.
Tonight was worse than most. A pathetic echo in her mind trying to take root as she chased a different kind of pathetic echo.
For each and every fault he had- she could spend years counting in that miserable creep of a man- he knew his ghosts and his weapons. Very little of his advice had proven inaccurate on even the most minuscule of levels.
“An afraid ghost is never to be underestimated, yet if careful they can undo themselves with hardly an effort by you.”
But no, Phantom wasn’t afraid in front of her. Insolent brat, darting from cover to cover. To boot, it had the audacity to stick it’s tongue out at her.
The humor didn’t reach its eyes though. Not tonight. Though, it always seemed a little rougher around the edges when she managed to jump it after some ghost had tried doing her work for her.
Yet it was always almost well humored to her.
Tonight really shouldn’t be different.
“Fear will destroy them- even in the living it’s hard to control a fear response. Aimless lashing out makes openings.
Rage, on the other hand…”
And yet, Phantom seemed annoyed by her hunt tonight, of all things. How inconvenient of her, really! Maybe she’d upgrade to threat one day, if she was realllll patient…
Phantoms head finally phased out of a tree, grinning at her in a way that didn’t meet it’s eyes.
“Well, this barking match has gone on long enough to prove bite-less, so I’m afraid I’m gonna have to take my leaf!”
Pew pew, cunt.
(As always, the faint sense that her dad would be reaching for the soap brushed past her mind)
She missed, of course. It’d been a long time since she’d hit Phantom.
“Chickening out already, Phantom? Thought you were better than that.”
Keep her voice low, even. Steady. Bait doesn’t work without patience. And everything seemed to hit less and less, now.
“No you don’t. And even if you did, don’t you have work? Or school? Promotions or tests to pass, even?”
Its voice echoed from nowhere in particular, giving no indication to location.
Its staunch refusal to indicate whether or not it knew anything about her was ever present.
“Oh, you’re interested in my life? How flattering. Stay the fuck away from my apartment.”
Same song new night. Lancers test was tomorrow though, but this was more important. Shitty junior year and it’s- focus. If she can’t get to it then she simply has to improve her attempts. It will crack eventually.
“Yeah yeah, kill on sight. Seriously though, Red, how do you keep standing with the way you live? You can’t possibly be getting more than two hours of sleep a night.”
Sound to the left- Pew pew. It almost sounded concerned about her.
How pathetic.
“Who’s to say I don’t sleep during the day?”
“You don’t.”
“And you know this because?”
A question with no good implications underneath, and no good answers.
Accusations to its integrity always seemed to work best. Closest thing to falling over itself it’d get, all to prove it was a ‘good person’.
Phantom finally formed away from cover, relaxed and cozy in an imaginary reclining chair. It seemed to cycle through ways to mock her, always implying that it was completely unbothered.
Kept up its little act even when it was hit! Really, to brush off the shots like it couldn’t feel them….
Been a while since she’d made it flinch, actually. No matter what she managed to do to it.
No, no. Focus.
She could see it. The lack of real humor in its eyes- whether or not it’d admit such a thing, she was getting to it. She had to drive a knife into its cracks somehow.
“People have bills. Doesn’t take crazy stalking to figure out you either have a sponsor or are stupid rich- and you kinda stopped talking to your sponsor. Was a whole thing in the ghost community? Anyways, you need to have some sort of job or some sort of parental support at this point.”
A dead smile, a tilt of the head. Teeth much too sharp in a mouth that almost could’ve passed for a real person’s.
She’ll need to hunt down- No, it’s already out. And if she gets pissed, she’s dead.
“Rage is lethal. They’re focused, and they want you dead.
And, I mean the best when I say it dear, you don’t know rage. Not in ghosts.”
She’d argue she knew plenty about rage, period, though the point was long gone.
Pew pew.
It disappeared and reappeared two feet to the right, still smiling.
Fucker.
“What can I say, I value my independence. Strong and capable, everything a hunter needs to be.”
“Uh-huh. Who’s that philosopher that said no man is an island, again?”
It pretended to tap its foot against the dead air, taking its eyes off her as it acted out exaggerated thinking. Bait to shoot.
“John Donne. Know any philosophers that ever chatted about not dragging people down?”
“Right, this has been a delight but- hey wait, I think that’s actually right. I dunno, it’s the kind of thing I’d actually have to look up-”
“Dragging. Down. Get it? Ha. Ha.”
Finger curled around the trigger, giving one attention grabbing pew.
Vanish, and re-appear.
“Only so many times I can try to say that first and foremost, not my dog. Not at that point. Just a concerned samaritan trying to figure out why a dog was loose. You don’t care, though.”
Its tone was… more clipped than usual. And it’d been a while since it’s last pun.
Good.
“Honestly, it goes beyond the dog at this point.”
“Really, Red? Nobody’s got you at gunpoint out here.”
She’d been stewing on this one a while actually. Never a better time than the present to try a new tactic, right?
“No, no. The town Phantom. The ghosts as a whole.”
“Go harass one of the Doctor Fentons’ about the tear in the fabric of reality in their basement then.”
Oh it was seething with that one.
Good.
Yet, this was an infuriating corner.
“The Fentons have made it clear that by now, they can’t do anything.”
“I’m missing the part where you turn it into my fault. And even if your point was clear, they are liars. Bad ones.”
The accusation against the Fentons integrity had to be bait. As such, asking was caving in to its plans.
“Simple. They’re after you. It’s a game that you’re encouraging.”
Its eyes narrowed, most of its pantomimes of life and movement ceasing.
Finally.
“You have no idea how much I wish they’d stop. Not that you’re willing to learn.”
“So you admit it?”
“Nothing of the sort. If they all stopped I would stop appearing.”
“Typical.”
“Mhmm.”
“Still, guess you’re just too used to dragging people down with you, right? Enough to never notice.”
“Listen, I get to hear my friends jack off to pseudo psychology enough as it is. You got your stinger loaded yet, or should I just, like, go?”
“Well since you’re asking… let me ask; were you even a blessing in life?”
The silence was palpable.
“What?”
“You heard me.”
Phantom paused, eyes narrowing further as it processed her accusation.
“What teenager is, really?” It eventually ground out, not even deigning to smile.
“I’ll have you know I was a delight.”
Wry, guiltless. Keep steady.
“Hmmm… I dunno that I believe that one, Red.”
A pretend hum, something that if written out would sound like a quip.
Its tone was completely flat.
Valerie smirked underneath her helm.
“But something like you, I can just see it. Everything falling over itself to baby your pathetic ass… How much did they give you? How much did you take from them?”
For one single second, Phantoms eyes reflected red.
“Like your dad and your hospital bills?”
Silence.
And then, rage.
“So help me, Phantom-”
“No, no Red- Let’s- I’m done, okay? You- I blaze through and you blame me, fine.”
Her shots missed, of course
“But, Valerie, how much do you cost your dad in medical bills at this point? Delight my left asscheck.”
Even in her rage, she had to pause. She’d never heard it swear.
Her shots missed again.
“You sign up to the most insane asshole you can find just to hunt down what- even with your little revenge fantasy- is some fucking teenager-”
Lots and lots of swearing.
Phantom was properly pissed this time.
Good, it was getting old not getting to it.
And nothing it could say can-
“Hell, I looked it up once- You know your little punctured lung you got off of Skulker? That your dad had to drag you out of the wreckage for and strip your suit off just to keep your little job secret? Boom, median of six grand. Right there.”
… how much?
“What does every bill combined add to Valerie? You wanna- how much of a burden- Jesus Christ. How much of a burden are you? Good god.”
How much…?
...
No, no it had to be bait. Hospitals are expensive but- well… very expensive- but!- … how much?
She was in combat.
“Deny a girl her hobbies, eh? But finally, so you do-”
“No shit I know who you are. Some chick shows up with a revenge fetish against me? I‘m investigating.”
Fucking- fetish??
“And here I though there could be some proof not all highschoolers are assholes.” She snarked, not paying attention to what she was saying. Scripts were running in her brain with no checks to see if it was sensible or not.
“I didn’t make it to highschool, Valerie. You want to kill a middleschooler, and you can’t even tell me what you’ve costed your dad to get here.”
Her gun, for the first time in... a very long time, dropped from its lock on Phantom.
“You can’t tell me what you cost but you’re just soooo cozy with telling me I must’ve been a- Fuck you. Genuinely. Did you even know the dog was one your fathers company killed? Bet you didn’t. Allll their guard dogs in training were put down for that pretty security system. A middleschooler and a dead puppy.”
“You are not a middleschooler.”
Her breathing hitched too much, she was losing herself. Phantoms youthful (manipulative, fake, anything else please) looked at her with no warmth.
No humor.
“Not anymore, no. The dead don’t have school.”
Its tone was openly cold and resentful.
In front of her was a ghost, whom she hated. It was a violent, mean, and dishonest thing with no regard for other people.
And the same eyes it’d always had stared back at her right now. Phantoms features had never budged the slightest nanometer, the last two years.
Youthful as ever.
Pew, pew.
It did not move, and it did not flinch.
“It’s been a long time since you could hurt me Valerie.”
Borderline glacial towards her, like she was a particularly stupid child.
But maybe she deserved that one, because of all things, she should’ve seen that it wasn’t acting unbothered by her shots.
“Ask your dad how much you cost him before lecturing me on- Just. God. There’s something genuinely wrong with you. And I’m not protecting you anymore, not if that’s seriously how you’re gonna treat- just… fuck you.”
It had disappeared before she could re-aim her gun at it for the audacity. Protecting her? Bullshit.
But, all alone now, board humming underneath her, left her stewing over the entire conversation.
And, well…
At least she’d obviously touched a nerve.
~~~
More than she’d ever be worth in her life, ever again, was her answer. Not the one he said, but she knew what evasion looked like. She knew what it meant.
And how much did he pay per month?
More than what they had to spare, was not said. He’d never say it.
A new fight breaking out near her was a relief, one she didn’t dwell on.
She’d just have to be careful to not get hurt. It was so simple.
And then the battle between Skulker and lunch lady halted at her appearance, Skulker turning smug while Lunch Lady looked away abruptly.
“And what the fuck do you think you’re gonna do, looking so happy over there?” She asked, strafing left as she aimed her gun.
Skulker didn’t move as the metal helm grinned wider. Lunch Lady vanished.
“Did you know Phantom declared open season on you?” Was the last thing she heard before her world was crushed.
~~~
Her dad would never blame her. Never say it.
Never tell her she was a burden.
But now- god, how much did this cost? Doctors were saying to just hope she wasn’t permanently paralyzed. Hope that she could eventually write again with her left hand, or learn to use her right.
She’d be out of school for a long time now.
At least she missed Lancers dumb test.
The heart monitor was her only company through the pain meds (that she refused most of) and incessant nurses.
Until…
“Danny?”
Silent as mist, as always. She hadn’t heard the door. But there he was, looking like he always did.
Except…
“Listen, I’m not really here to talk. I was voted to bring you your homework and flagged down to pass a note.”
His face tight, his tone blank.
“I’m sure you have things to do.”
He was probably itching to go back to trying to help his sister around the house, sweeping after the absolute tornadoes that were his parents.
A real shame Jasmine never left. An even greater shame she never admitted why she settled for the local college.
She could’ve gone places.
“Sure. Let’s go with that.” He gruffed, setting a binder of work on the first table he could find.
“Here’s your card.”
Huffed out, the card tossed with laser accuracy to her non injured hand. She’s lucky she caught it, the pain meds she couldn’t deny like weights on her one good hand.
This was- what did she do?
“Danny, what-”
“I don’t really want to hear it. ‘Cause it’s about time you knew that I know damn well what you do in your off time, and did this to yourself really.”
N
No…
No.
“And when exactly did you find out that-”
“The entire goddamn time, Val! Remember the stupid flour baby? The job I was threatening you with was ghost hunting, not being the Nasty Burger mascot! Which! I still hold to that if you weren’t ghost hunting, it wouldn’t have been that hard to do your half!”
He- no, not that long. Impossible. Nobody else had even looked at it as a serious-
He’s always been a little smarter than what he lets everyone know.
The last lick of sense echoed through what had to be the meds. Danny, always there, seeming to know more than what anyone had ever told him. Easy to work with, happy to obey. He made it so very easy to forget he was so bright.
Focus.
“Fine, fine! But I didn’t- Skulker-”
“God- just… God. Don’t. Nobody asked you to fight them. You tossed out everything and everyone that didn’t fit to do it, too.’
“I didn’t do-”
“We are not friends, Valerie. You don’t have any friends, and we’re barely ex’s at this point. And for what?”
“Barely even- What are you on about??”
“Val, we dated for like, two weeks two years ago! And you dumped me to go chase after Phantom, ‘cause fuck having a real life with friends or a boyfriend!”
It was like a fun house mirror held up to those memories, how he stood there now.
Never did get taller, never did lose most of the baby fat. Now standing there seething with hate instead of adoration.
He still looked as frail as ever.
“But Phantom-”
“Shut up, take your homework, and read your shitty card.” He growled, already heading for the door.
No- No! It’s just- This isn’t like Danny! Danny… Danny just never swore- it was like, hardcoded into him!
“And what the fuck did I do to earn this? God, if it turns out you got possessed-”
Danny paused, looking back at her for a split second. So short she could’ve hallucinated it the heartstopping look before he went straight back to having his hands on the door, ready to bolt.
“Would you say that shit to me?”
“I… What?”
“What? You don’t think I ever managed to talk to some of the ghosts? I know what you said to him. Would you say it to me?”
“Of course not!”
“No, no, of course you wouldn’t. Never would even think about it, right? Fentons too cute and innocent, and small to- ugh. I know why you never tried making friends with me and Tuck- Sam hated you- but- fuck. Don’t talk to me.”
She had nothing left. Danny was-
Too cute, innocent, and small to spew this kind of hatred at her?
Ugh… Who knew such an adorable little face could be so mean...
He looked ready to slam the door. He looked like it was taking great restraint to not, every muscle so obviously tense underneath all his layers.
It’s a wonder how he never overheated.
And at the last second, he hesitated.
“I never wanted you hurt, I… I promise, even if I’m mad. Enraged, even. But I just don’t know what you thought was going to happen, anymore.”
And then it was slammed shut, leaving her with the sinking feeling he was gone forever from her life.
… fuck.
Alone, again now, with a heart monitor and a card from- Well, Danny hadn’t mentioned.
God that stung. Couldn’t even stay to say who still had a heart for her.
She needed to move on, already, because burnt bridges weren’t going to get fixed any time soon. And that left the card as her only option forward right now, right?
It was just folded printer paper, with no decoration on the outside.
And on the inside-
One logo, seared into her brain well over two years ago. Looking at her.
“I don’t know why I thought you were worth defending.
They won’t be nice about it ever again.
-DP”
She hid the card under her hip, eventually. Made a nurse toss it out the next time one came around.
Pretended like she hadn’t seen it.

tech hunter, more like friend hunter amiright?
fanfiction
ao3
word count: 5930
Tucker's best friend has gone missing. At least Phantom's been defeated by the Tech Hunter and the ghosts have fled Amity Park. @lavendarlily
been sitting on this one all month
Tucker walked into the school feeling the best he had in a long time.
He wasn’t woken up last night by his equipment going off all night long. He’d gotten a full night’s sleep for what felt like the first time in forever. All thanks to his victory he’d had over Phantom.
He’d finally been able to corner Phantom the night before. He’d been distracted by a ghost he was talking to. Tucker walked up behind and landed the best hit he’d ever gotten on Phantom before. It punctured a hole straight through his back and chest and caused Phantom to stumble forward. The ghost he’d been talking to flew away before Tucker could even look at him.
Phantom turned around to look at him. His eyes widened ever so slightly.
“Checkmate, ghost.”
Tucker didn’t stay to see what happened. He knew he’d gotten him that time. He pulled his hoverboard out as Phantom fell to the ground and flew away. Phantom didn’t deserve anything more, the ghost scum that he was.
Heading down the hallway, Tucker saw Sam at her locker.
“Hey, Sam!” He shouted, speeding up in her direction.
When he called her name she looked up as if she had been spooked. Her eyes were wide as they scanned the hallway and finally landed on him. She tried smiling at him but Tucker could see that it was tight. That it was fake.
“Hi, Tucker.”
“Hey, are you okay?” He asked. “You look like you’ve a ghost. Or something equally terrifying.”
She pushed her locker closed. “I’m fine. I just didn’t get a lot of sleep last night.”
“Oh?” Tucker smirked at her. “Did you finally get some alone time with Danny?”
She shoved him. “Gross, Tucker. No. I just couldn’t sleep. I kept having nightmares.”
He frowned. “That sucks. What were they about?”
The look she gave him was haunting. What could she possibly have dreamt about that was having this kind of effect on her?
“I don’t want to talk about it. It doesn’t matter. It really wasn’t even that bad anyways.” Sam smiled another tight smile at him. “Let’s not be late to class.”
He followed behind her. “Have you seen Danny?”
She shook her head and kept her eyes ahead of her, not looking at him. “No. Not yet.”
Tucker pouted. “He didn’t tell me he was sick today. Unless he’s just sleeping in again. Have you figured out what’s been up with him lately? Why he’s always late and skipping class all the time?”
She shook her head again. “Not a clue.”
Tucker watched as she walked ahead of him into their class. That was weird. She wasn’t quite being standoffish but… She was definitely being avoidant. What was that about?
He followed in behind her and walked to his seat. The bell rang and Mr. Lancer started calling names.
“Dash Baxter?”
“Here.”
“Danny Fenton?”
Tucker took another look around the classroom. Danny wasn’t in here either. He hoped he wasn’t getting sick. But knowing Danny and his sudden change in attendance, he wasn’t very confident that he was sick anyways.
The day passed slowly. With Sam acting strange and Danny missing, there was nothing to keep him occupied.
He was starting to get worried though. Danny didn’t normally skip the whole day if he was going to be late or skip classes. Maybe he was just sick. He couldn’t shake the feeling that was starting to creep up on him though.
He was glad that the ghosts had disappeared with Phantom’s defeat. It meant that his attendance wasn’t so bad, even if it wasn’t nearly as bad as Danny’s. He wondered where all the ghosts were. It was odd that he hadn’t picked up a single ghost on his scanner yet today.
He walked into the lunch room and grabbed his food from the lunch line. When he was done, he looked around the cafeteria and saw Sam sitting at their normal table. With Jazz?
They looked to be talking in hushed whispers. He started walking towards them with his lunch tray in hand. Jazz looked up past Sam’s shoulder and whispered one more thing before she smiled at Tucker.
“Hi, Tucker.”
“Hey, Jazz. Is Danny home sick today?”
Jazz shot a look at Sam before her eyes darted back to Tucker. “I’m not sure. I actually haven’t seen him since school got out yesterday.”
Tucker frowned. “Oh. That’s weird.” He placed his tray on the table and sat down to Sam’s right. Her backpack was in her lap and she shuffled it to the left a little bit. “Has he ever done that before?”
Jazz shook her head. “No. I thought maybe he’d gone to one of your guy’s houses. I was expecting to see him at school today. I’m starting to get worried.”
“Yeah.” Tucker rested his chest in one of his hands and started picking at his food. “Me too.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sam didn’t know what to do.
She’d been walking around with the thermos containing Danny in it all day. She’d been taking her backpack with her everywhere. Even to the bathroom with her. She couldn’t just leave it somewhere. Not with him inside of it, at risk of bleeding to death if he got let out.
She especially couldn’t let Tucker see it. Couldn’t let him see the contents screen. Couldn’t even let him know she had it.
He knew she didn’t carry the Fenton’s ghost weapons with her. She didn’t endorse them. The ghosts were still beings. She didn’t think it was right to hurt them. It would be suspicious for him to find a partially full thermos in her bag.
She didn’t know what she was going to do, though. Who could she go to? Who could help her? She thought about talking to the Fenton’s. They were the leading ghost experts. Surely they would know what to do.
But she’s heard what they’ve said about Phantom. How they wanted to tear him apart molecule by molecule. Her only saving grace would be that Danny was in his human form when she sucked him up. Would that be enough to convince them that it truly was their son inside of the thermos? She wasn’t sure.
She sat in class, Tucker right behind her, gripping her backpack. She hadn’t been able to focus at all and this was only her first class of the day. She could only imagine how the rest of the day would go.
She lay her head down on her desk, still clutching her bag close to her.
Sam had been tailing Phantom for the last couple of minutes. She had a few questions about ghosts that she wanted to ask him and was hidden around the corner while he talked to another ghost. She was hoping she could wait until the other ghost left. She didn’t want to risk getting mauled.
But before her or the other ghost could do anything, the Tech Hunter flew down into the alleyway Phantom was in.
She’d never been this close to Tech Hunter before. She always wondered who it was under that mask.
She peeked around the corner just in time to see Tech Hunter’s weapon go off, shooting a hole into Phantom’s back all the way through his chest.
Phantom stumbled and slowly turned around, clutching the new hole in his chest with his hand.
“Checkmate ghost.”
Sam’s heart stopped.
No. No no no. It couldn’t be.
She didn’t want it to be true, but his voice was too recognizable. She’d heard it everyday since they met in elementary school. There was no denying this.
That was Tucker.
Tucker, a cold blooded hunter. A murderer if Phantom’s expression was anything to go by.
He jumped into the sky on his hoverboard and flew away. Phantom fell to the ground. She finally rounded the corner and walked up to him.
“Phantom!” She shouted and she ran over and knelt on the ground next to him.
His eyes opened slowly and he turned to look at her. “Sam…”
She stopped for a moment. “You know my name?”
He tried to sit up but she stopped him. “Don’t move. That’s a nasty injury.”
“Sam…” He struggled to lift his arm around to his other side and grabbed the Fenton thermos that he carried around with him. He placed it in her hand that she extended to him.
“Phantom?” She asked quietly.
“Put me in the thermos.”
“What? You want me to capture you?”
He took a deep breath. “I’ll… bleed out if I stay here like this. Put me in the thermos. It’ll act as a… stasis of sorts.”
“But-”
A bright ring appeared around Phantom’s waist. It was like nothing she’s ever seen before.
“Put.. me in… the thermos.”
The rings separated and Sam covered her mouth with her free hand.
“Get help.”
The rings disappeared and before her sat her best friend, bleeding out. She stumbled with the thermos in her hand and pressed hard on the button. It sucked him up into it and she pulled it against her chest.
Shaking, she leaned back against the wall. What was she supposed to do? What if the thermos didn’t actually keep him in a stasis? What if he just bled out inside the thermos instead? She didn’t know how to fix this.
How did she fix this?
“Sam.”
A hand grabbed her shoulder and she shot up in her seat. She whipped her head to the side and saw Tucker pulling his hand back.
“Are you okay?” He asked her, a concerned expression crossing his face.
She shook her head to try and clear and took a deep breath. “Yeah. I just- I must’ve fallen asleep. I had another nightmare.”
She stood up and he moved to let her by.
“Are you sure you don’t want to talk about it? Maybe it’ll help you make sense of why you’re having nightmares.”
Checkmate, ghost.
She shook her head again. She knew why she was having nightmares. “No, it’s fine. I’m okay. I’m sure they’ll stop happening soon.”
He stopped prodding at her after that and they made their way to their next class.
Sam felt like she couldn’t breathe and like she was suffocating all through class until their third hour came around. They separated and walked opposite directions down the hallway and she finally felt like she could relax. Like she wasn’t in danger.
She was still tired and was still nodding off in class but without Tucker sitting behind her she was able to focus on class a little more. She still held her backpack in her lap for safe keeping though.
She was on her way to lunch when she bumped into Jazz in the hallway.
“Hey, Sam, have you seen Danny?”
Sam’s heart jumped into her throat and she tried to swallow back the tremble in her voice. “Danny?”
“Yeah. He never came home last night. I’m worried. I was hoping you or Tucker had seen him today.”
Sam swallowed and swung her backpack around to her front. “I have to tell you something.”
Jazz frowned. “What’s wrong?”
“I can’t do this alone. Maybe you’ll have some ideas.”
Sam opened her backpack and pulled the thermos out a little. Jazz’s eyes opened wider.
“Yesterday- yesterday I saw something. Tech Hunter had ambushed Phantom and hurt him real bad. Phantom told me to pull him into the thermos but he transformed before I could do that.”
Jazz raised a hand to cover her mouth.
“When he transformed back, he turned into-”
“Danny.” Jazz whispered. Sam looked up at her, shocked.
“He told you?”
Jazz shook her head and met Sam’s eyes. “I found out during the whole Spectra thing. He doesn’t know I figured it out.”
Sam nodded. “But there’s something else.” She looked around them and pushed the thermos back into her backpack. “Tucker is Tech Hunter.”
Jazz pulled back, her eyes wide and a hand over her chest. “Are you sure? Tucker didn’t really seem like the type to-”
Sam nodded again more vigorously. “I’m sure. He had a helmet on but I’d recognize his voice anywhere. I’m sure it was him.”
Jazz started walking towards the cafeteria. Sam followed beside her. “What are we going to do? Did Danny say anything to you besides to get him into the thermos?”
“No.” Sam shook her head. “Just that it would put him into a stasis and to get help. There wasn’t time for him to say anything else. He was too badly hurt.”
They got to the cafeteria just as Jazz closed her eyes and took a deep breath. They paused outside the doors for a moment before Jazz pushed her way in.
“What do we do?”
They walked to the food line and grabbed trays and grabbed food to set on it. Jazz sighed. “I don’t know. We might have to do some research on some stuff before we decide. This is the most scared I’ve ever felt.”
“Me too.” Sam whispered.
Sam walked them to her usual table and Jazz followed suit and sat down across the table from her.
“What about your parents?” Sam asked, leaning across the table. “They might know how to help him.”
Jazz grimaced. “They might be too biased to see past the fact that he’s Phantom. They talk about what they’d do if they ever got him all the time and I don’t want any of it to become a reality. But worse comes to worse-”
Jazz paused as she looked over Sam’s shoulder. She leaned forward to whisper at her.
“We’ll do our own research first. Then we’ll try my parents. Tucker’s coming.”
Jazz looked back up and smiled at the boy who was walking up behind Sam. Sam tensed up and she was afraid to look behind her.
“Hi, Tucker.”
“Hey, Jazz. Is Danny home sick today?”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It’d been a week. It’d been a week since Danny went missing.
No one had seen him since he left school that day. Not a single person. How did no one see him at all? Where could he have gone?
Tucker had even done a few searches of his own. He’d flown around town on his board, looking for any sign of Danny. He was lucky that the ghosts were still gone, otherwise it would pull from him time searching.
And Sam was still acting weird. He could understand that she was upset about Danny missing but… It was different than that. Any time he saw the haunted look in her eyes he tried to comfort her about Danny. Tell her that they would find him. It  took her a moment to process it, like she had to remember that he was in fact missing.
School was ending and Tucker had to struggle to find Sam outside in front of the school. He had to look for a few seconds before he saw her already all the way across the grass, walking down the road.
“Hey, Sam, wait up!” He waved his hand in the air.
She didn’t turn to face him and Tucker frowned. He jogged up to her and grabbed onto the handle on her backpack and pulled. He must have caught her off guard because her backpack started sliding off her shoulders and she whipped around, pulling it out of his hands and to her chest.
“Sam, are you okay?” He asked.
“I’m fine.” She said.
He frowned at her again. Then it dawned on him.
“Are you walking around with contraband in your backpack?” He smirked at her.
“What?”
He made grabby motions at her bag again. “What is it? Drugs? Weed?” He lowered his voice to a whisper. “Condoms?”
Sam hugged her backpack close to her.
“Tucker, stop.”
“What?” He smiled at her. “What do you have in there?”
“Nothing.”
“Then why don’t you want me to look at it so badly?” He raised his eyebrows at her. “Is it a secret? What kind of secret?”
“There’s no secret, Tucker.”
He frowned. “Seriously?” He reached forward and grabbed the front of her backpack and pulled.
She held on tight and pulled back.
Something was seriously up. He pulled hard and the top of the backpack opened, sending a Fenton thermos rolling across the ground.
Before he could even think about anything beyond the lit up contents screen Sam was shoving him as hard as she could. It knocked him to the ground and she scooped up the thermos and backed away from him.
“What the hell, Sam?” He said as he rubbed his behind.
“Have you ever heard of respecting someone’s privacy?” She shot back at him as she held the thermos to her chest.
His mind slowed when he saw how she was holding it.
“Sam. Why do you have that?”
“Danny gave it to me.”
Tucker shook his head. “His parents offered you one and you refused. Why do you have it?”
“It’s none of your business Tucker.”
He stood back up and took a step toward her.
“Who’s inside the thermos, Sam?”
She took a step back. She looked like she was afraid of him.
He darted forward and tried grabbing the device from her hands. She stepped out of the way and kicked out her heavy combat boot, catching his feet and sending him towards the ground again.
He groaned and pushed himself back up. “Give me the thermos.”
“No.”
“What are you going to do with a ghost anyways?” He turned to face her. “Aren’t you against hurting the ghosts and holding them hostage? What if you let it out and it hurts you? A ghost doesn’t deserve the safety you’re giving it right now.”
“You don’t know what you’re talking about.”
She leveled him with a cold, hate filled stare. Her expression took Tucker aback. He barked out a laugh.
“What ghost could possibly be in there that you feel this strongly about?” He took another step towards her, followed by her taking a step back. “Ember? An ecto-puss? That dog that ruined Valerie’s life? What ghost is worth this?”
“Why should I tell you?!” Sam shouted at him. “You’re a cold hearted murderer that’s okay with ending a sentient being’s life! How awful do you have to be to want to kill someone?”
Tucker leveled a look at her. How did she get a hold of him? “He’s already dead, Sam.”
“It doesn’t matter.”
“You’re right. He doesn’t matter. Give me the thermos.”
“No.”
“Why are you so insistent on-” Tucker started but pulled back as Sam started screaming at him.
“You didn’t see what I saw!” Tears were streaming down her face now. “I saw you shoot him. One of my best friends became a murderer. And then I went to go help him. All he asked me to do was put him in the thermos. I didn’t understand and he transformed back before I understood.”
“He transformed back?” Tucker asked, confused. That wasn’t something he was aware Phantom could do. Did he have shapeshifting abilities?
“I don’t think Phantom is just a ghost.” Sam whispered.
“Ha. Yeah, what else would he be?”
“Our best friend.”
Tucker’s heart stuttered in his chest. “No. That can’t be possible.”
“It is.” She nodded her head frantically. “I saw it with my own eyes. He transformed from Phantom to Danny. It was some bright white ring that appeared around his waist. It’s not like anything I’ve seen another ghost do before. He went from bleeding ectoplasm to bleeding blood after he transformed.”
Tucker’s ears were ringing now. “How? How is he both alive and a ghost?”
“I don’t know.” He could hardly hear her whisper. “I don’t know what to do.”
“He’s just in there?” Tucker gestured at the thermos. “Dying?”
“He said he’d be in a stasis if he was in the thermos. That’s why he asked me to put him in there. He asked me to get help. But anyone that could possibly help wants to kill him.”
Tucker’s vision warped and spun. He staggered where he stood and he could feel bile rising up in his throat.
He tried to kill his best friend. He probably actually killed him. That was the nastiest injury he’s ever seen Phantom get. Phantom never had to go into stasis before. He could always regenerate and heal himself before.
Tucker leaned to the side and threw up.
He killed his best friend. His best friend was going to die and it was all his fault.
“What are we going to do Tucker?” Sam asked him. “You’ve got ghost stuff. Do you know someone who can help him?”
Vlad Masters flashed through his brain. He supplied Tucker with everything he needed to fight ghosts. And for some reason he didn’t understand until now, Danny absolutely despised him.
“I- No. I don’t have anything that can help him.” Tucker whispered. “I’ve killed him.”
He looked back at her and she was shaking her head as tears welled up in her eyes. “Don’t say that. We have to believe there’s something we can do. If there’s nothing-”
“He’ll be gone.”
They stood there in silence for a few moments.
“We need to go talk to Jazz.” She said quietly.
“Jazz?”
Sam nodded. “I already told her everything. If we have no one else that can help us, we need to figure out how to talk to their parents. They’re our last option.”
The pit in Tucker’s stomach grew even bigger. How could he admit to his best friend’s parents that he killed him?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tucker sat with Sam and Jazz in the Fenton’s living room. They were trying to figure out how to break the news to the Fenton’s about the situation with Danny.
“Do I just walk up to them like ‘hey, Mr. and Mrs. Fenton, second parents to me, I killed your son because he’s also that Phantom menace that we both hated?”
Sam shuffled in her spot. “We just need to start with he’s Phantom and injured in the thermos and that we need their help.”
“They don’t need to know it was you, Tucker.” Jazz said softly.
“Danny knew it was me. That whole time. He absolutely knew it was me.” Tucker shook his head. “Shouldn’t I owe it to his parents to tell them the whole truth? I deserve their anger.”
“You didn’t know it was him, though.” Sam said. “None of us did. None of us would have been able to tell. Who’s gonna think a dead kid is their living best friend?”
“I-”
“Hey, kids.” Maddie walked into the living. The three of them jumped at the sound. She smiled sadly. “Jumpy today, are we?”
Jazz nodded. “We’re just worried about Danny.”
Maddie’s smile fell. “Me too.”
Jazz looked up at her mom. “Actually, Mom, can you go get Dad? We have something we need to talk to you guys about?”
Maddie looked between the three of them concerned, but nodded and went to go get Jack.
“We haven’t figured out what we’re going to say to them yet though!” Tucker whispered. “What are we going to tell them?”
“Just let Sam and I handle it.” Jazz shushed him. “You don’t have to say anything if you don’t want to, but we need to get it over with. The longer we stall the harder it’ll be.”
Maddie walked back into the living room with Jack trailing behind her. They sat on the couch that was facing them from the opposite side of the room.
Jazz took a deep breath. “We know where Danny’s been.”
“What?” Jack and Maddie exclaimed together.
“Why haven’t you told us? Where is he?” Maddie asked.
“He’s…” Jazz started but petered off.
Sam looked at her and picked up where she left off. “He’s Phantom. He’s somehow a ghost human hybrid. He was shot and he’s hurt really badly.”
Maddie pulled back. “What do you mean he’s Phantom?”
“I saw him transform with my very own eyes.” Sam pleaded. “You have to believe us. He’s hurt and we didn’t know who else we could turn to.”
“Where is he?” Jack asked quietly.
“He’s in here.” Sam pulled the thermos out of her backpack and held it up in her hands for them to see.
“He’s in the thermos?” Jack asked, shocked. “How is that possible?”
“You have Phantom in the thermos?” Maddie stood up.
“It’s Danny in the thermos. Phantom is Danny.”
“What do you mean that’s Danny? That can’t be Danny.” Maddie stepped forward and reached out a hand. “Give us the thermos.”
“You have to believe us.” Sam pleaded.
Tucker raised his arm in front of Sam to stop her. “Mr. and Mrs. Fenton, I didn’t believe Sam at first either. I thought it would be impossible for Danny to be Phantom. But the more I thought about it the more it made sense.”
He took a deep breath. “I’m Tech Hunter. I was the one that shot him.”
Maddie inhaled a sharp breath and pulled her hand back like she’d been burned.
“I hated him.” Tucker whispered. “I thought ghosts like him were the scum of the earth. But looking back… He never retaliated against me. He always played on the defense and I never thought anything of it. I thought he was a bad shot. He’d joke around with me like he’d known me all his life.”
He stared at the floor, wrapping his arms around himself. “I never thought the reason he’d do that was because he actually had known me all his life. I just thought he was manipulating me.” He choked out a laugh. “It’s like they say. Hindsight is twenty twenty.”
“If this is true and Danny really is.. In there.” Maddie gestured at the thermos with a shaking hand. “What are we supposed to do? We don’t have anything to help ghosts and an injury of that magnitude might not be able to be helped by us and our medical knowledge.”
“Maybe you could help us find someone in the ghost zone who would know more about how to help him.” Jazz said. “Even if we find someone we’ll need help getting there somehow.”
Jack and Maddie exchange a glance between them.
“He’s our son, Maddie.” He said quietly. “We have to try, even if he really is Phantom.”
She turned to look at the thermos in Sam’s hands.
“Okay. We’ll help. Where do we start?”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“I was able to hack into Danny’s computer.” Tucker said. “He has files with information about all the ghosts he knows. There are ghosts in the ghost zone in some place called the far frozen that have a lot of medical know-how. They’ve helped him before. Maybe they’d be willing to help him again.”
Maddie nodded. “That might be our best option. We could try to do all we can here, but if that injury is as big as the two of you described it, there might not be much we can actually do ourselves.”
Tucker printed out the map Danny had made of the ghost zone and handed it to Maddie.
“He’s got this all mapped out already?” Maddie stared at the map with wide eyes. “We haven’t even made a trip into the ghost zone a single time yet.”
“This must’ve been what he was doing some of the times I thought he was blowing us off.” Tucker sighed and took his glasses on and rubbed his eyes. “I don’t think he’ll ever forgive me.”
“We-” Maddie took a deep breath. “If Phantom is really Danny, we’ll both have a lot to make up for.”
Tucker looked up at her. “Are we horrible for not knowing he was Danny?”
Maddie shrugged. “It’s hard to say. I would like to think I’d recognize one of my kids anywhere… That I know them like the back of my hand, but…”
“We just couldn’t see it.”
Maddie nodded. “But getting to his yeti friends is something we can do to make it up to him. Let’s focus on that for now instead.”
Tucker turned off Danny’s computer and stood up. “I guess you’re right. What do we do now?”
He followed her out of Danny’s room and down the stairs. “We make sure the Specter Speeder is all good for ghost zone travel. Then we’ll prepare for the trip.”
“I think Danny’s notes said that the far frozen is cold. We should bring our coats and gloves with us.”
Maddie smiled. “That’s good to know. Thank you.”
They walked into the living room where Sam, Jazz, and Jack were sitting around the table. They were going over what looked like notes from the Fenton’s lab.
“What are you guys working on?” Maddie asked.
“We’re going over your guy’s formula for ecto-dejecto.” Jazz said as she turned over another paper. “That’s one that you guys just kinda scrapped and never fixed. We’re thinking it could help since it made all the ghosts you tested it on get stronger.”
“Once we find the right formula, we’re going to make a couple batches of it.” Jack said. “Aha! Here it is! Did you guys find anything on Danny’s computer?”
“We found some information on a medical center that’s located in the ghost zone somewhere.” Maddie said. “Danny has been mapping out the ghost zone too so we’ll be able to get there without much fuss.”
“That’s great!” Sam turned to face him. “Way to go, Tucker.”
“Thanks.” he shuffled on his feet.
“Jack and I are going to go downstairs and work on preparations with the ecto-dejecto and checking the Specter Speeder. You three gather together enough coats, hats, and gloves for everyone. After that you could start preparing some food for the trip.”
It took them a couple hours to get everything ready, but soon they had gathered enough clothing and food for everyone and made sure the Specter Speeder worked. Jack loaded a crate of ecto-dejecto in the speeder and turned around to face them.
“We’re ready to go! Let’s get Danny some help!”
They started the Specter Speeder and flew into the green swirl of the ghost portal.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Danny groaned. Everything hurt. Where was he? He could hear a faint beeping. Was he at the hospital? What happened? The last thing he remembered was-
His eyes shot open and he tried to sit up but his chest hurt too much.
He was in the hospital. What were the doctors told? Who found him? Did his parents know? Did the GIW? He had to-
“Whoa, hey. Don’t move.”
He turned his head and there standing to his left was Sam.
“Sam? You’re here? Where- My parents-”
She shushed him and gently laid a hand on his shoulder. “It’s okay. We’re in the Far Frozen. Tucker found the map on your computer.”
His heart fell and he swallowed. “Tucker?”
She nodded. “He’s been waiting outside. He didn’t want to be in here when you woke up in case you didn’t want to see him.”
He looked towards the door. “He’s here?”
“Yes. He’s here.”
How did Tucker find out about him? Why is he even here? Danny thought Tucker wouldn’t want anything to do with him if he ever found out who he was. But he was just waiting outside his room because he was afraid Danny didn’t want to see him?
“Is anyone else here?” He asked.
“Your parents are talking to Frostbite about all this medical equipment they have here. Jazz is off learning how yeti society works.”
Danny chuckled, but groaned as it rattled his chest. He laid a hand on top of it gently.
“How long have I been here?”
Sam’s expression turned sad. “It’s been a little over a month. You were in some pod that Frostbite has in a different room for awhile too. It was supposed to help your ectoplasm repair the hole in your chest. You still have a bit of healing left, but the worst of it is behind you.”
He let out a deep breath. “Thank you.”
“What?”
“You saved me. You got me the help I needed. I wouldn’t be here without you. Thank you, Sam.”
“Danny, I-”
She stopped at the sound of shuffling outside the door. They both looked towards the doorway and saw Tucker just as he ducked out of the way. Sam looked back at him.
“Do you want to see him?” She asked softly.
Danny kept looking at the door. Tucker wouldn’t be here if he was just trying to kill him. He was respecting his boundaries and keeping his distance until Danny asked for him. Would they be able to go back to how things were before? Should Danny want that?
He turned his head back to Sam and nodded.
“Okay. I’ll go get him.”
She stood up and walked across the room and through the door. A few moments passed before she walked back in, hand in hand with Tucker as he followed behind her.
She stopped beside Danny’s bed. Tucker still wasn’t looking at Danny.
“I can give you two some space to talk. Unless you want me to stay here, Danny.”
Danny looked at Tucker and the shame and guilt in his face. He turned back to Sam and shook his head. “I think we’ll be okay. You should probably let everyone else know that I’m awake.”
She nodded and turned to walk away, shooting one last glance at them before she left.
His gaze went back to Tucker. He was finally looking at him. Tears were swimming in his eyes and his lips were trembling.
“Tucker-“ Danny started but Tucker cut him off.
“No. Don’t forgive me.” Tucker took a shaky breath. “I don’t deserve it. I was so caught up in my hatred with ghosts that I couldn’t see what was right in front of me. I couldn’t tell I was fighting my best friend.”
Tucker pushed his hands up under glasses and covered his eyes. “You joked around with me. You never tried to hurt me. You were still acting like my best friend and I went and shot you.”
“Tucker-“ Danny closed his eyes. “No one knew. I didn’t tell anyone and no one could tell it was me.”
“Jazz knew.” Tucker said quietly.
Danny’s eyebrows shot up on his forehead. “She did? How?”
Tucker shrugged. “She said it had something to do with Ms. Spectra. She didn’t really elaborate much on it because we were focused on getting things figured out with you.
“Oh.” He looked down at his lap. “I still didn’t tell her though. I didn’t even know she knew.”
“Why didn’t you tell anyone?” Tucker whispered. “You could’ve avoided so many things if we had just known.”
Danny fiddled with his fingers. “I was scared. I didn’t want you guys to think I was a freak or for my parents to think I was a monster. You had already become Tech Hunter by the time I was considering telling you and Sam but you hated me, so I couldn’t. I didn’t know if your hatred would overshadow our friendship.” Danny looked up at Tucker again. “But I can see it didn’t because you’re here now.”
A sob finally broke its way out of Tucker’s throat. He leaned his arms on the side of Danny’s bed and lay his head on top of them. His sobs wracked his body. Danny lifted an arm up and slowly brought it down on Tucker’s shoulder. His sobs wracked his body harder.
“It’s okay. I’m okay.” Danny took a deep breath. “We’re okay.”
Missing Context (Danny Phantom Fic)
One shot, 2300 words
There is a supernatural reason why no one recognizes Danny as Phantom. A color swap alone would not be enough for sure. Good thing Mr Lancer is not that easily fooled
Featuring: some Danny & Lancer, vague descriptions of injuries, identity reveal
---- William Lancer's spine popped satisfyingly in all sorts of places when he stretched in his chair, where he spent the last few hours grading student essays.
Like he did most Saturday evenings.
It wasn't the best part of the job, he much preferred teaching and direct guidance, but it still was enjoyable at times.
Some students rushed their work, sure, but there were always some essays in the mix that would show him a fresh perspective that he himself even hadn't considered before. Sometimes it was also just interesting to see his student's personalities bleed into their work. By that, he didn't mean the persona they each used in front of their peers, but something more genuine, something more real.
That's why he didn't dislike this kind of desk work. As a teacher there was so much responsibility in recognizing red flags and intervening before things escalated.
Be it difficult home lives, mental health issues, social issues…. His students might rarely talk to him but he heard them in their writing.
Usually it was the gaps between their personalities and their personas that drew Lancer's attention.
Like Mr Baxter's… the boy was high up in the social hierarchy, but used the resulting power to push people around. In his writing, however, he usually showed a lot of understanding for the disadvantaged protagonists, who have to fight their lot in life.
It only took a parent-teacher night for Lancer to connect the dots and has since been working on a way to help with Mr Baxter's troubled home life.
At last the boy had confided in him somewhat. So hopefully they would soon make progress and arrange for a relative to take in the boy while his father took therapy and went to AA meetings.
Things were still in the draft phase, but Lancer was confident that by the end of the school year, Mr Baxter would be able to see a safer environment for himself.
But that was one of the more straightforward cases, even if it was sensitive and worrying.
This year he had another troubled child in his class, and the problem was… Lancer knew something was wrong. But for Orwell's sake, he couldn't figure out what it was.
Danny Fenton was a complex puzzle. The signs pointed in all sorts of directions.
Some said "parental abuse" but then they said the kid was obviously well loved… even when the parents showed a concerning mix of neglect thanks to their workaholism and helicopter vigilance.
He was jumpy some days and lethargic the next, he would sleep in class or not show up at all.
His work ethic was all over the place as well. He obviously cared about his grades and his school work. Lancer could tell whenever he did turn something in.
Young Fenton also cared a lot about justice in his essays. He often pointed out the flaws and pressures society put on the characters of their fictional worlds. It somewhat extended to reality as well and Danny would call out his bullies on their behavior, almost self-sacrificially when it came to protecting his peers, but then, paradoxically he would run at the slightest sign of Amity Park typical troublesome ghosts as if even his friends' safety meant nothing to him.
Even if not by his parents, abuse was still high on the list of his theories of what made Danny so offset. Maybe more than what he’d get from bullies too, since those somehow didn't actually faze Fenton, as if he was used to much worse… and wasn't that a scary thought.
A small kid like Danny, in a small town like Amity Park couldn't be in a gang. This sounded like denial even to his own ears, since that might actually explain some things, but he also just knew that it wasn't that.
There were several signs missing for that scenario, and overall Daniel's personality and sense of justice wouldn't allow it.
Much more likely would be that the kid was actively looking for fights by butting into bad people's business. Maybe vigilantism of sorts.
But again, Amity Park just wasn't that big of a town to make this theory make sense.
William put down the pen and rubbed his face exhaustedly.
He had already visited the Fenton home, had spoken with Jasmine and even attempted to get something out of Danny directly. But nothing had led anywhere so far.
And tonight wouldn't get him anywhere else either.
With a sigh he decided to take a break and go for a walk. It was almost dark and the air should be refreshingly crisp.
After another spine popping stretch he got up and made a detour to the kitchen. He might as well take out the trash.
The building was quiet when he left his apartment. Only some sounds of TVs or Radios filtered through the closed doors of his fellow tenants.
The air outside was fresh bordering on cold and if he hadn't brought the trash with him he might have reconsidered stepping out of his home.
So he hunched his shoulders a bit as he made his way around the building, bracing against some breeze that cut through his shirt and made him shiver.
The bag was thrown away quickly and he was already turning around when he heard something.
A groan. Of pain. Lancer turned back towards the alley and squinted into the shadows while reaching for his phone in case he was about to be mugged or attacked by a ghost.
Once he had it ready to call the emergency line, he held his breath and listened.
Had he imagined it? He wasn't sure. The dark always spurred on his paranoia.
But after a moment he heard another muffled gasp. Something was there.
"Hello? Do you need help?" he called carefully into the dark as his heart picked up pace.
Then he noticed: No… not dark.
Something was illuminating the alley. He hadn't realized at first, but now that his eyes were adjusting he could make out a faint green glow coming from next to a dumpster further back.
"If you're okay, say so, otherwise I will come over now, please stay calm, I just want to help" Lancer announced with false confidence. His heart was beating a mile a minute in anticipation and sweat was starting to form at the back of his neck.
Someone who was hurt or scared might lash out and he was not sure how to deal with that. William Lancer wasn't a fighter after all, so he relied on language to project his intentions and hoped for the best.
There wasn't a reply other than some irregular breathing and more sounds of someone in pain.
He was almost there when the mystery person ( because this was too loud for a rat, and what else would take breaths like that, if not a person?) did gasp something out that Lancer couldn't quite catch but sounded a lot like "Stay away". But even though Lancer couldn't quite understand it, his heart skipped. The voice sounded young. And scared.
Dread filled him and Lancer stopped his stalling. He took the last few steps and when he reached the dumpster and peered in the gap beside it, it gave away to a short figure, bracing itself against the side of the container and clutching their side. Not a Person. Not a human. Yet someone very familiar was huddled in the gap.
Toxic green eyes stared up at him with hostility and apprehension.
"I said, stay. Away." Phantom snarled with bared teeth.
His whole posture, no, the whole aura around Phantom, radiated danger.
Lancer's phone clattered on the stone floor of the alley as he staggered a few steps back.
Almost every instinct told him to run. To get out of here while he still could, that the thing in front of him could rip him apart. That he was facing a cornered animal.
Almost all of his instincts were sure he was in danger. Almost.
Even with all the alarm bells, Lancer forced himself to take a stuttering breath. He never had been the wisest person.
The voice sounded young. Even the second time around when there was venom and Spite and bared teeth gnashed and snarled and the oppressive threat of- no. That wasn’t what he heard when he heard the painful sounding gasps earler…  he shook his head.
Something was wrong here.
Now it was instinct against instinct. Lancer could feel them clash painfully as if it was tearing him apart. There was the desire to flee, to run, to get back to safety, to run from the beast in front of him that could disembowel him with one claw…
And then there was his instinct as a teacher that right now screamed against his fear that there was a child right in front of him and the child needed help.
He tried to look at Phantom again. Really look at him. Something he had never gotten a chance to before. Phantom right now. Was……… He couldn’t see. He couldn’t properly pin down what he was looking at. His brain screeched “Monster”, but it was more like his imagination overlaid that image.
Against the pull of his mind, he slowly crouched down to eye level with the ghost, who still stared at him with his teeth bared and coiled to strike growling and hissing at him to back off…
Lancer squinted at the figure again and tried to really look. It was as if there was a filter. As if something prevented him from really seeing the creature in front of him-
Like an optical illusion or an after image all conjured up by his fears.
"I said. Get away." Phantom…. snarled?… no. It wasn't a threat, it sounded more like you'd expected someone in pain to sound. Something more like a plea to be left alone. Not aggression, but desperation.
Lancer blinked a few times against the weird haze of confusion. Phantom wasn't coiled to strike either, he was fighting to even stay crouching. Green oozed out from under his hand he had pressed to his side. His face was tense with clenched teeth against pain.
"You're hurt." he observed and something flitted over Phantom's face.
"you're hurt and you're…. you look…" William trailed off. What did Phantom look like. Like a Child? Small?... Familiar?
Phantom's expression did something complicated between pain, horror and fear. Phantom's expression, there was something about… his face…  his features. Lancer knew that face. He saw it every day he felt like. The colors felt wrong but the more he squinted against the fog, the more his mind screamed at him that this child was someone he knew and cared for. He took the figure in once more and furrowed his brows, he knew this person, why couldn't he place them-
Out of nowhere a sharp pain flashed through Lancer's head and for a moment he only saw white, he thought Phantom had done something. He clutched his head as if he had to hold it together.
Then, as sudden as it had come it disappeared.
When Lancer looked up again, with sweat on his forehead and breath coming in short bursts almost matching with the ghosts labored wheezes, whatever had been distorting his perception was gone. His vision was clear as day. No haze, no fog, no distortion.
He couldn't marvel at the phenomenon though, because now that he wasn't seeing through a filter anymore, he was no longer staring at Phantom.
The kid was the same. But there was no mistaking it.
He was without much doubt looking at his student.
Lancer had been close to a panic attack for the last few minutes now. But this was giving him whiplash. He recoiled and landed gracelessly on his butt when the realization hit him like a stack of books.
So this is what he had been missing? The big centerpiece of the puzzle? The one thing that made all his observations finally point into the same direction?
In front of him was his troubled student.
Danny Fenton. Who had white hair, green eyes, glowing skin… and was currently bleeding out behind a dumpster in an alley.
And really, there was no mistaking him. Kids dyed their hair all the time. Some of the goths even used colored contacts on a daily basis. It was impossible to look at the kid in front of him and not recognize Danny Fenton.
"Hot cat on a tin roof," he commented.
Fenton picked that moment to gasp in pain and to curl in on himself further. Barely managing to look back up at his teacher, but what Lancer saw was fear. Fear of William.
The teacher carefully reached out to his student and helped steady him by his shoulder.  He felt like ice.
"You're- Danny, you're hurt! I have so many questions right now, but first, how do I help? Can you stand? Should I call your parents? An ambulance?" he tried to sound steady, this was no time to panic, even though his student was blee- no. He had to focus on the now.
"No hospitals, it's not safe." Fenton mumbled. A bit more urgently the amended "parents don't know, you can't tell them… please."
Lancer swallowed hard, this was bad.
And immediately it got worse.
"s'ry i feel- kinda dizzy" with only that much as a warning Danny went slack under Lancer's grip who barely managed to catch the teen as he sagged against his teacher.
Then to his surprise, rings of light flashed to life and the icy body in his arms was replaced by a warm and much more familiar version of his student.
Reading Danny’s essays through this new lens was going to be an interesting endeavor from now on, William thought through stress induced amusement.
DPxDC AU - A Bird in Amity
DPxDC AU (can be Phantom Twin AU or not) where when Jason was thrown into the pit, shenanigans happened & instead of surfacing in Nanda Parbat, he found himself coming out of the Lazarus Pit hidden in Amity Park. It can be found in Silent Hill Park, at the bottom of Cauldron Lake.
He surfaces & is found by the Fenton family, who take him in & even get him into Casper. (Lancer is his favorite teacher. Loves that he swears in book titles.) This is at the beginning of the DP timeline, so not much has happened yet.
He rapidly realizes that the Fenton parents are actually pretty negligent despite their obvious love for their children & this begins to instill in him a latent desire to care for others that he may or may not have inherited from Bruce & would've ordinarily been resistant to. Specifically towards the younger members of the Phantom Team & especially Danny (& Dina).
At first, he's wary of everything, but eventually he comes around. Danny (& Dina) weird him out though in the beginning & the feeling is mutual. They can just sense that there's something odd about each other.
The Pit Madness doesn't really get time to fully develop due to living in a place with a constant influx of raw, ambient ectoplasm. Rather, all the corrupted, dark magic-infused ecto-gunk in his system gets filtered out quickly & replaced with healthy ectoplasm. Sure, there were instances of the Pit Rage bubbling up every once in a while, but it sort of puttered out after a while, especially with Jazz's help. Who he may or may not have a crush on.
He's quick to figure out that Danny (& Dina) are heroes & is surprised to learn that he is (they are) basically all that's keeping Amity afloat & elects himself to help the kid(s) & teach him (them) & the rest of Team Phantom the ropes. It's a shock to the entire team that they apparently have Robin on their side. Everyone is wary of his involvement & it takes some time to get used to it.
They eventually learn that he's becoming something of a very low ratio halfa (meaning that he'll eventually develop both an Obsession & a Fixation) & even begins to develop low-grade powers. Things like advanced healing, increased strength, speed, & flexibility, intangibility every once in a while (like, he can't use it willynilly), the ability to actually grab & hit ghosts, night vision, able to walk silently, even the power to see the regular, non-GZ DC ghosts like Deadman & the Gentlemen Ghost. Isn't able to turn invisible on occassion, but he is able to affect people's perception of him similarly to ghosts at any time. So, he can manipulate not only a person's sense of object permanence when in regards to himself, but he can also make himself unnoticeable. This is called Spectral Acknowledgement. Like, he can basically do what the Chameleon Circuit does. Like this:
However, because he's not a true halfa (or, at least, not a very good ratio of one), his anti-gravity center isn't fully developed, so he can really only glide & slow his falling. Just stuff that gives him an edge & a few benefits, while not taking away from his fighting style.
I see him having a hot core with an electric primary & either a fire or shadow secondary. It's nothing like lightningbending or firebending. He can only really coat himself with his element to give his punches more oomf. Though, I'm sure that Danny could make weapons that could channel the elements into them.
Either way, he's got Shocking Grasp & can probably use them as built-in defibs.
In the case of him having a shadow element, then it's not full umbrakinesis as he can only really control his own shadow.
Imagine him able to make it move like Dr. Familiar.
He can make his shadow touch other shadows, which affects the original. So, he can use his shadow to choke out someone else.
In a dark enough area, his shadow would be completely unnoticeable.
As mentioned before, he can coat himself in his shadow, giving him this sort of black flame armor that both protects him & makes his hits stronger.
Jason can Shadow Walk.
Like, Jason just merges into his own shadow, then hides in another shadow so he's completely camouflaged. I bet that even Supes wouldn't know he was near when approached if he was in a dark enough area.
In such cases, he's able to attack or outright kill someone's shadow, thus doing the same thing to the person themselves. And since Superman's powers don't apply to his shadow, it'd actually be very possible for Jason to just outright kill him in the right situation. Not that he'd ever choose to do so, but the option is there regardless.
Imagine it works a little like the bracelet from Link Between Worlds, but it connects to the shadow lands or something!
At the same time, the reason why he'd make his shadow attack someone while he, himself, is in the physical world would be for situations where he was spotted before he could Shadow Walk & so Jason physically distracts his target while his shadow goes behind them & knocks them out.
While Shadow Walking, he can also 'jump' between shadows. Like, from shadow to shadow?
Though, the weakness to this is that bright enough lights can dissipate his shadow.
There's also his Death Echo Power. I'm thinking napalm tears as he died crying in an explosion.
Either way, the best thing is, he's in the right place to better understand these new powers.
Jason has mixed & complicated feelings about Bruce, so he refrains from asking to go home until he sorts everything out. Then, he hears that there's a new Robin & the fact that Joker's still around & it all goes south. The Fenton kids do everything to be there for him, but he's just angry & feels betrayed. Though, not as vitriolically so as in canon. At least, not to such a degree that he wants to take it out on everyone he feels who betrayed him without evidence. It allows him to acknowledge the underlying hurt beneath the anger better.
It's actually because of Jazz that he's eventually able to realize that it isn't the new Robin's fault. However, he can't help how angry he is at Bruce.
Either way, because of the fact that Danny is still the only real defense Amity has against ghosts, Jay doesn't feel able to exact his revenge on Bruce & the Joker yet. But when he does, he has the whole of Team Phantom on his side.
Unlike in canon, Jason learns about how each of his old family reacted to his death. Not only does he learn that Dick had been so angry that he actually killed the Joker in revenge for Jay's death, but also that Bruce revived the bastard afterwards in some twisted attempt to keep Dick's conscience clean.
As a result, he actually patches things up with Dick pretty quickly, but on the other end of the scale, his relationship with Bruce is even worse than in canon. Which is saying something!
Jazz tries to remind him that it's likely due to Bruce's trauma from watching his parents get killed, but the thing is, Jason is not only ecto-liminal, he actually died & came back, which gives him a halfa-like connection to death. Unlike Jazz, who has yet to die herself &, as such, can still be considered human despite being fully ecto-liminal.
See, as per a really great hc I read, a ghost's killer is a source of a great deal of trauma for ghosts. So, if their killer is killed, or at least rendered incapable of causing further harm, it lifts a tremendous weight from that ghost's shoulders & will help them to better regulate their emotions & Obsession.
For more, look here:
So, for Jay to learn that Dick had killed his killer & that the world was so close to being Joker-free until Bruce decided to be a big damn hero...
So. Much. ANGER!!
Like, his relationship with Dick is gonna be great, but Bruce?
Man, his motivations might've been selfless, but they do say that the road to Hell is paved with good intentions...
I love Brucie boy, but he chose wrong this time.
---
Interesting thing, when Jay does go back to Gotham, he becomes the Cardinal rather than Red Hood.
There is this superstition that when you see a cardinal, it means that a dead loved one has come to visit. Such is the case with Jason.
A very angry, aggressive cardinal...
I'm not sure what his costume would look like other than having red in it & a biker jacket with Danny's logo on the shoulders.
Also, the All-Blades are a motherfucking must!
One change to them, though. They don't only appear in the presence of pure evil & also work on paranormal beings such as ghosts. They are, however, only deadly to those who are evil. They can hurt those who aren't, but can't kill them.
The prologue and first chapter of my Invisobang Fic is up!
Summary: Danny had always known there was an element of risk in telling his parents about Phantom. He just thought it was a risk worth taking. He didn’t think so anymore.
Now, the Fentons are convinced Danny needs to be cured and Jazz and Danny are stuck staying with Vlad, the only person who has the power and motivation to keep Danny from his parents without getting anyone else involved.
When Danny makes a terrible decision and the Fentons are called in for a parent-teacher conference, Lancer is swept into the mess. Lancer is stuck having to deal with well-meaning Fentons, a scheming Vlad, and teenagers who have been pushed to the brink. For the love of Frankenstein, if only he could figure out what was going on.
---
Also, a huge shoutout to my amazing beta @modordracena. She's been putting up with all my panicked screaming and I am super grateful.
Artwork is by @marqkace (Chapters 1 & 2) and @deadvampire32 (Chapter 9) who both be found on Tumblr
More Phantom Punk AU
Because this won’t get out of my head, here are more ideas I have about a punk Danny
-Danny and Sam bonded over being the two alternative kids in school (Goth/punk solidarity) -Danny has a bunch of piercings as Phantom but not as Fenton      -He had them when he had his accident      -He took them out because they hurt like a b*tch after being zapped      -And the metal started glowing so his ears healed before he got new ones -Lancer is a “former” punk      -I say “former” because he just doesn’t look the part because dress code      -He has full tattoo sleeves that are just covered at school      -Just imagine the reaction to someone walking in while he’s got his sleeves           rolled up and grading papers and boom, just nerdy lancer being totally inked -Danny figuring out he can do some of the things ember can do      -Getting stronger the more people cheer him on      -Being able to summon a backing band      -Maybe just being able to create ectoplasmic constructs in general because          between “Fanning the Flames” and “Pirate Radio” there’s an argument to be        made that Ember can do that instead of young blood roping in that many              ghosts to make a pirate crew -Danny and Ember being Frienemies/musical rivals      -their conflicts being solved by them having a battle of the bands      -them having jam sessions      -Just more of an excuse to have Ember around because she’s my favorite -Danny being openly ACAB and critical of the prison industrial complex to walker is both funnier and makes Walker’s dislike of Danny make more sense -Danny being hostile to Vlad off the bat because eat the rich -Immediately after Vlad reveals himself as Plasmius Danny immediately being “this proves I was right about you being an evil billionaire” -Danny using the Fenton creep stick because you can’t tell me that punk Phantom with a bat wouldn’t look cool
Bad decisions lead to worse consequences
)no phantom planet, though small aspects from it are used()jazz left for college early(vlad has a hand in that,)Sam was shipped off to boarding school(blame vlad) , Tucker's family moved to Egypt (also vlad)(
Danny's running ragged trying to keep ghosts from destroying amity , his parents are worried,the school is giving up on him, vlad has been cranking the pressure on him, and now he finds out he is going to be the next ghost king.
All the stress and sleepless nights aren't helping Danny figure out what to do, without a support system his friends and sister gave him he feels like the walls are closing in on him. He wants to tell his parents his secrets only to once more overhear them talking of destroying phantom again. He looks at the letter in his hands requesting a meeting at the nasty burger and shivers, anxiousness eating at him, his breath mistings as a ghost lurks around his home, likely a spy from vlad, he also has a scroll from a observant of all things ,who was clearly unhappy to tell Danny he would be the ghost king. All thos pressure had Danny nearly yanking his hair out,he wanted to scream,shout, destroy something,but he couldn't.
He paced his room wishing he had tucker and sam to help him, even jazz,but he was alone. At home and at school he had no one, he was at the bottom of the pecking order, practically a pariah. Lancer always looked so disappointed now a days. As did his parents,'no Fenton gets an f indeed'.
Danny felt like he was losing his mind. He (silently, mentally) wished he could be in two different places so he could divide his responsibilities. It wasn't like he could ask clockwork for help, well he could,but he had a feeling it would not help.
He trudged down to his parents lab to start on his chores, cleaning up spills and fiddling with weapons so they wouldn't be able to hurt him,when he came across a familiar invention, the Fenton ghost catcher. He stared at it groggily, vaguely remembering the last time he had used it. Danny continued cleaning as he considered the invention, remembering the events that lead to super phantom and fun Danny. The franticness of trying to merge back together after splitting powers between them before finding out about a switch on the ghost catcher. Then he remembers enjoying the beautiful sunset with tucker and Sam before his parents got the house moved back to where it belonged.
After finishing up his chores he collapsed in a swivel chair as he debated on what he should do. Should be really split himself into two again? The more he considered everything he had going one,the lack of help,and deadlines,and how exhausted he was , the more it sounded like a good idea. He also briefly considered what would happen if his ghost side was evil, but decided he would focus on putting as much good into phantom as possible,last thing anyone wanted was another evil king. With that he jumped through the ghost catcher.
Phantom floated in the air as Fenton smacked face first into the ground and groaned. Danny picked himself up,"you could have caught me", he grumbled. Phantom cringed,"sorry, I had a lot on my mind", he was mentally checking to see if he was evil like the original Danny worried about, though he really didn't feel evil,and how would one go about discovering you were evil or not? All he felt was just stressed out about becoming the new ghost king and leaving the earth ,his home, his family behind.
Fenton sat on the swivel chair again, crossing his arms to hug himself. "Well, maybe you can order the ghosts to not bother Amity park, king phantom", He had a meeting with lancer and his parents tomorrow, he was busy thinking about how was he going to get out of this mess of trouble he was in.
Danny Fenton was probably going to be doing a lot of groveling. Also, the nasty burger was a terrible place to have a meeting, unless lancer was using the place as a way of saying that Danny's future prospects for jobs were all fast food restaurants. Which rude, and cruel.
Danny phantom, still waiting to see if he felt evil or not, nodded, unaware of Fenton's inner thoughts, and missing the jab out his new title," that's a good idea, I could make it a order to avoid the human world, so mom and dad don't get their hands on any ghosts, it protects them,the ghosts,and the town, win win", he said with a grin. Phantom thought a moment,"are you going to be ok? The guys in white might target you".
Fenton shrugged,"well,we are divided now, I'm human, they don't target humans", thinking quickly,Fenton grabbed the ghost gabber and turned it on," I am Danny Fenton, I am not a ghost", he stated. The gabber reader antenna whirled around wildly before stated," no ghost detected".
Phantom tried next,"I am Danny phantom,I am a ghost", the gabber's antenna once again whirled,this time pointing at phantom and stated,"ghost detected! Translating, I am Danny phantom,I am a ghost, fear me! ".
They laughed as Fenton turned off the gabber so he could put it back were it belonged. Once they caught their breath,they wondered why they thought that was funny to begin with.
Walker and his adopted halfa son
Chapter 4:Plan for the unknown and the known for team Phantom?
Sam's point of view
As I enter the living room I am simply wearing a Ghost Theam t-shirt and sweatpants and my hair is in a messy bun lately I have been letting my hair grow out, which makes my mom happy about it but I still stick to my ways thank you very much. I finished half a cup of coffee, I was so excited because Jazz was coming over and spending the break over here; not only that Mom and Grandma were going on vacation with her friends and Grandma would keep her important if any ghost problems happened which it looks like it did and she made sure to send a message to tucker to come over and he will be over with his parent’s. She is lucky that her father and grandma are on their side and Tucker’s parents as well they are keeping Danny’s ghost half from her mom for the most obvious reason, I sigh wondering how they found out though we might never know we are lucky and grateful to them. While I was standing at the doorway I looked at my father and Jazz sitting in the living room Jazz was sitting on the couch next to the fireplace, she is wearing her black t-shirt and blue pants; as for my dad he was dressed differently and not his 90’s perfect husband and father look he is in a plain grey shirt, tan pants his which is wired and I almost dropped my coffee mug but I hid it and walked over to the couch and sit next to Jazz and place my mug on the coffee table and notice that mom and grand mom are not here did they already leave?
Sam: Are mom and grandma not here?
Mr. Manson: Yes, they leave early in the morning, and in the morning Grandma sends her love.
Sam: Hmm (sigh I looked at Jazz then looked at the ghost glossary book that is sitting on her lap)
Sam: He is is super annoying
Jazz: (laughing) Yeah we were talking and making a list of the most annoying ghosts.
No one’s point of view
They continue the conversation to find out who is the most annoying and add information about the different ghosts to the book, in one section is the law of the ghost zone next chapter is Walker’s rules so they don’t get in trouble and get information on the law’s and the rule’s it’s kind of hard, getting the book organized is a job but well worth it. When the doorbell rings it scares them from the book.
Sam: I will get it
Mr. Manson: I will be in the kitchen
Jazz: I will come with you, Sam
As they went their different way Sam and Jazz made their way to the front door and walked about the box ghost and how he came out of nowhere and tried to figure out how he did it, and as they opened the front door standing was the Foley family.
Tucker: Good morning Jazz, hey Sam have you already had coffee yet? ( he knows not to make any jokes, and more until Sam has some coffee in her system)
Sam: Hey Tucker, yes I have and I am about to get a second one
Jazz: …. are you some sort of coffee ghost? Does that make a coffee disperse within seconds? I do not remember seeing you drinking it at all.
Sam: did you make a ghost joke?
Tucker: (laughing)
Mr. Foley simply smiled and said: is Mr. Manson here?
Sam: Yes sir, he is in the kitchen we can put your bags in the room you staying in while you and Mrs. Foley go and talk to my dad.
Mr. and Mrs. Foley: Thank you
Mrs. Foley: that will help see you children in the living room here in a bit.
Tucker, Sam, and Jazz went and dropped off the bags in the right rooms and then went to the living and to do their own thing while they waited for the adults to come in and talk about what happened and what to do next and that including might have to involve Mr. lancer, as they were waiting the adults came walking in with coffees in hands and then they all sit down, with that being said when everyone was sitting in the living room quiet not saying a world after a few minutes that is when Jazz spoke and explore what was going on in the fentom house and both the good and the bed even the wores.
Sam: I … Have to agree with you Jazz less suspense is needed now more than ever if that can happen.
Mrs. Foley: I also agree and having someone who works in the education department will help your children out if the ghosts come and attack during school hours.
Mr.Manson: not to mention he can better plan a better education plan for your children and can bring your grades up so you can chase after your dreams.
Mr. Foley: I understand the reason, however, why not simply talk to your parents Jasmin
everyone went dead quiet then Jazz said her father's favorite words
Jazz: “I” tear you apart molecule by molecule ( with a big smile trying to copy her father then letting out a heavy sigh)
Mr. Foley: Please tell me he did not do that in front of Danny at least?
Sam, Tucker, and Jazz: More often than not. they ( they said at the same time)
Mr. Manson: all right ( with a sigh ) I will go call Mr. Lancer, right now and Tucker what are you doing?
everyone looked at Tucker to see what he was doing, because he was quiet for most of the time and he looked like he was making something.
Tucker still not looking up started to say.
Tucker: I am trying to create a new type of phone with the ability to work in the ghost zone and not be affected by techniques, while we are here we can still call Danny if he is in the ghost zone, along with other ghost hunting function that can help Danny too and make sure that it is not picking him up every second.
After he finished talking everyone said: THAT IS AMAZING?!?!?! (mainly the adults)
Mr. Foley: That explains the phones ( he said to Mrs. Foley and she nodded)
Mrs. Foley: Not only that Jazz here has been studying medicine for both body and mined
Mr. Manson: Sam has been studying different food diets so everyone can get all the foods that they need. (Sam was trying not to blush at her father’s words she did not think he would know about that)
Then everyone turned to Mrs. Foley and Jazz because that was a surprise and confusing that is when Jazz gave the answers
Jazz: I asked Mrs. Foley to help me because medicines are what I am best at, Sam is best with planning what to do and looking out, not meaning making sure we get food or we will forget, and Tucker is best at tec and he is getting good at making stuff too.
Tucker: yup, oh and I hacked into Fentom's work to get the blueprints of their invitations, also Jazz did you know your house has cameras?
Jazz: (shocked) No we do not own Carma
Tucker: Then someone put them in there without saying a word because your house does and it’s only the live feed from my understanding and no recording
Jazz: Vald must have put them there
Sam: Make senes I would not put it past him he is a crazy fruitlop
Tucker: and on that note any word on Danny?
the girls simply said no at this time Mr. Manson went to the kictchen to make the first call
Ring Ring Ring Click.
Mr. Lancer: Hello?
Mr. Manson: Hello Mr. Lancer this is Mr. manson Samthe’s father.
Mr. Lancer: Ahh yes what can I do for you sir?
Mr. Manson: I fully aware of my child change in class and I was hoping you have time to come over to talk about it?
Mr. Lancer: hmm (this will give me some anwers about the three behovire if he know about the other two as well and it will be a big help for me) Alright that soons good I will be there aound 12:30 will that work for you?
Mr. Manson: yes that would work thank you for your time and hang up the phone
Mr. Manson and Mr. Lances have been friends for a long time so it was no supries to be inveted over for coffee and to talk about books
Mr. Manson looked at the wall clock that read 9:30am before he made his second call
Mr. Manson (sigh) I am not going to like this converists at all
After he was done in the kitchen he went back into the living room and holding a deck of cards any one up for UNO he had explanied that mr. lancer will be here at 12:30 and everyone agree to the game, tucker decied not play and wanted to contied working on is invetion.
Mr. Lancer’s point of veiw
After getting a call from Mr.Manson this morning he been wounding what is going on with his three students he know the three of them are really smart and a few weeks after the school year started their grades droped so after a while and it is time to head over to manson house and when he go there and enter the house. Tucker was the first notice him.
Tucker: Hi Mr. Lancer, welcome to the crazy group (not looking up from what he is doing)
after Mr. Manson and I sit down on the couch Sam, Jazz and Tucker told me everything it was such a shock I had a hard time not to spit out my coffee and becuse what they told some home made sense and it was hard to belive but it was the truth.
Mr. Lancer: That explain danny’s banned for glass used and late for class and more (heavy sigh my eye’s fell on a book that was open and had a picture of the box ghost next to the UNO cards) and he is a headace ( deadpining)
everyone: we all agree with that one
No point of veiw
Mr. Lancer: so were is Danny?
Jazz: in the Ghost zone he wanted explore and learn more about it before all of go with him to explore
Mr. Lancer: hmm alright he is safe there so to speak that is good and to anwser the unanwer question yes, I would glady help you childern out be silent about it, you children need all the help you can look (he looked at Mr. Manson when he said that last part)
Tucker: That’s awsome! now we don’t have to worry about missing anything! also I notice you have not used any book titles in your sentences
Mr lancer: I may help out with the drama club and be dramic to help lighten everyone sprite from time to time however I do know how to be serious, and what are you doing tucker?
tucker explain what he was doing and he was happy about it he was close to comleting one of them then the phone he was working on beep
Tucker: huh that is weird that can’t be right
Sam: what going on tucker? ( with a worry look)
Tucker: It’s said that a ghost is near
everyone one is quite and hoping it is not the box ghost and that is Danny that is near however it was in fact one of walker’s goons
???: exuse me I hope I did not scared you I am looking for Jazz
Jazz: That’s me is my brother ok?
???: Hello, I am officer Nightmare and that is why I am here and talk about don’t worry he is okey
everyone relax at that knowing that danny is okey but jazz was still worry about her brother and why is there a walker goon here.
Jazz: So are you sure that my brother is okey Officer Nightmare? I mean he has been missing sence yestarday.
Nightmare: so a day has past since the halfing enter the ghost zone huh?
Mr. Lancer: Um qestion what is a halfing?
Then Nightmare started explaining his side of the story how he met Danny and what is a halfing
I am in absolute love with how people portray Danny and the gang in fics. There are just so many amazing headcanons and aus and I am so deeply in love with this fandom. Also some of my favorite things in fics, just because they mean so much to me.
When Danny and Jazz are super close siblings, and they bicker and act just like how my siblings do, it is just 10/10
When Lancer is a good teacher and actually cares about his students
Lancer knowing about Danny and trying to help him in any way he can
Post reveal, Maddie and Jack being nonchalant about Danny doing ghost things around them and it being completely normal for them
When Vlad is set up to be redeemable and can actually be a positive figure in the fentons lives, helping them when possible and being a mentor for Danny
When Vlad is set up to be irredeemable, crossing lines and never looking back, Danny and Co hating him for all he's done
Valerie being a BAMF
Clockwork having a father/mentor relationship with Danny
Back to redeemed Vlad, where Danny sees him as a second father
Sam and Tucker dating, Danny being oblivious
All of them are gay and trans
Valerie being a part of team phantom
Danny being a BAMF
When Maddie and Jack kickass for their kids, supporting them 100%
The Fentons adopt Dani/Elle, her realizing she has people that care about her and want to help her
Elle being Jazz and Danny's little sister, getting caught up in all the sibling shenanigans, and them supporting eachother
Elle being a BAMF
Elle hating Vlad for the rest of her life because of his actions
Elle forgiving Vlad after he's redeemed himself and excepting him as a father figure
Just Maddie and Jack being actually good parents that show unconditional love to all their kids
Elle settling in Amity Park and being part of team phantom
Jazz being a BAMF
Danny dying alone and having no support system :(
Jazz being the one there when the portal turns on and doing everything she can to support and protect her brother
Just Danny and Jazz protecting eachother and always having the others back
Danny telling his parents immediately, they either take it in stride or that's not their son anymore
Maddie and Jack figuring it out on their own, destroying all their weapons that would be harmful to danny, trying to win Phantom's trust
Tucker being a BAMF
Vlad and Danny never finding out the other is a halfa, thinking they're the only one of their kind
Danny becoming an eldritch abomination that scares even Sam and Tucker
Everlasting trio
Jazz being ecto contaminated, and having slight ghost powers
Danny having to eat ectoplasm, whether from a test tube or just straight up cannibalism
Ok so there are a million more things that I love about the fics in the fandom, but here's a few. So lucky to be surrounded by such creative, skilled, and cool people 💚🖤🤍 Thank You all for your service🥺😭😘
New Beginnings
Fandom: Danny Phantom Prompt: White Crow Character: Danny, Clockwork, Lancer Words: 1,109 Summary: With Sam and Tucker out for the week Danny is having a tiring week. That is until Clockwork stops by and gives him some news Warnings: strong language
Tumblr media
Danny was having an off day. An off week. An off month maybe even. He was having to fight ghost after ghost after ghost for the past week. He’s gotten no sleep and it’s been killing him.
Sam was off on some event her parents dragged her to while Tucker was visiting his uncle out of the city. It was killing him. While his two friends were excused from school Danny was stuck. Sleeping in class accidentally and missing school days. It was a lot, and he was struggling. The last time he struggled as much was possibly when he first got his ghost powers.
He knew that there was no way to fight it so instead he chooses to just yawn and make his way towards Lancer’s next class. He would have to work hard to stay awake since his two best friends were not here to take notes for him.
The plan did not work as well as he wanted it to, Lancer had to shake him awake, a worried expression on his face, so Danny wouldn’t be late to his next class.
“Is everything okay Mr. Fenton?” Lancer asked, he figured it was safe considering everyone else already left for their next class.
“Yeah. Everything’s fine Mr. Lancer. It’s just harder without Sam and Tucker here,” Danny shrugged off the old teacher’s worry.
“Well Mr. Foley and Ms. Manson will both be back before the end of the week is up. Is there a reason why you’ve been sleeping through my classes?” he crossed his arms. It felt like he was looking in Danny’s soul.
“No sir. I’ve just been working hard at some after school things. Sam and Tucker normally help me. It’ll be better once they get back. I’ll try not to fall asleep tomorrow. I promise!” Danny yelled at him, hearing the late bell ring, rushing towards his next class.
The day continued for Danny, skipping gym to take care of a few small blobs that found their way into the school. Last thing Danny wanted was for the small helpless blobs to set off the ghost alarms.
After school he quickly made his way back to his house, finding it empty, he untenanted the thermos into the portal.
He flew back up to his room, hopefully he could get some homework started before his patrol, or worse a ghost shows up before that.
An hour or two had to have passed when his ghost sense went off.
“Time in.” a medallion was placed over his neck. “Working hard young Daniel?”
“Clockwork? What’s wrong? Did Dan get out!” Danny was quick to change into ghost form, ready for a heavy fight.
“Calm down young one,” the ancient ghost chuckled. “I do not come bearing bad news,” He shifted from an adult to an older man.
“Then why are you here?” Dann took a seat at his desk once again, not changing out of ghost form.
“Well, I have an announcement to make.” Danny really didn’t want to deal with the older ghost dramatic pauses right now. “I pronounce you, Daniel Phantom, next in line for the throne of the Infinite Realms!” Danny could swear he saw a smile on Clockworks’s face, but he was to shock; flabbergasted.
“I’m sorry?” he said after two minutes of pure silence.
“The council has been fighting ever since Pariah was fully defeated. They’ve been looking to crown the next ghost and a decision had to be made,” He spoke as if Danny was the obvious choice
“No. Why me? I don’t deserve to be king! I don’t want to be king! What would I even do! No! Just No! Give it to someone else!” Danny was pacing around his room, not realizing that his feet were slowly leaving the ground.
“You defeated Pariah Dark. The choice was between Vlad or you and the council has made a decision. You were vouched for by Princess Dora, Pandora, Frostbite and many other ancients. I even gave my vote,” Clockwork informed him.
“Theirs’s a council? And they vouched for me?”  Danny was truly surprised at everything that he was hearing.
“Like I said their were two candidates. Vlad or You. Frist the council had to narrow down their options for the throne. Next, they needed to be vouched for. With the two choices only one or two out of the entire council voted for Vlad. You won the majority rule. We are on the third step. I have informed you. This is where you make the decision to try for the throne. If you refuse then we go on to Vlad,” Clockwork spoke from memory.
“Okay so if I don’t accept it goes to Vlad and if I do then what?”
“Once you accept, we set up a meeting with the council. There you will go preliminaries and answer any questions. Once all that is done, if the council accepts you then you will be crowned as Prince until the council deems you worthy of a crown. After that you will be titled prince. A different ceremony will be set up for that, where you will receive the ring of rage. There is more after, but that is the step that you are talking about.”
“Do I have time to think about it?” Danny asked.
“I wish. Sadly, the time is only what I can give you here. Once I return it to normal the council will be waiting a decision. I know it’s a big one, but I would not be vouching for you if I didn’t believe in you,” Clockwork put a supportive hand on the younger ghosts shoulder.
“I’ll do it. I’ll became the next Ghost King,” Danny decided after a minute.
“I will alert the council of your decision. The road ahead is hard, but very much worth it. You will be a good king.”
“Did you see that in my timeline?” Danny rolled his eyes.
“The second you were nominated for king you timeline has been blocked from me. You’re future is fully up yo you. I’ll be letting you know when your first council meeting is. Until then you take care young prince,” Clockwork bowed, disappearing in a swirl of time.
Danny couldn’t believe his luck. He needed to tell Sam and Tucker. Needed to tell Jazz. He needed to finish homework. He needed to go on patrol.
But at that moment all he could do was see at his bed looking out of his window, a strange feeling forming in his stomach when he saw a white crow perched outside of his window, disappearing as if it was a trick of the light.
the progression of succession
“One day, Phantom changed, or did he, really?”
Or, Danny is taking a test he isn't aware of ever having signed up for.
-
When Danny woke up, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. That should’ve been a sign of something amiss.
The previous night, he had been, rudely, awoken by Johnny and Kitty when they decided Amity had to be their dating spot again, at 2am in the morning. Whoever ever uttered that the dead sleep forever were clearly wrong.
It hadn’t been much of a fight, luckily. The couple genuinely just wanted to have some harmless fun riding and sitting around. Shadow even smiled at him. Johnny’s familiar was never able to lie about their emotions or intentions, which were, by extent, Johnny’s.
By then, already feeling guilty for impeding on their date, Phantom left them to it and drifted back home slowly. While there was no fight, regularly sleeping just four hours a night was bound to have some side effects. Unfortunately espresso shots only did so much.
So, color Danny surprised when he woke up fine. Better than fine, actually. He felt energized in a way he hadn’t felt in months, since Christmas Truce. Again, that should’ve tipped him off, but Danny was not one to look a gifted horse in the mouth.
The halfa shot a quick look at his bedside alarm – 7am – he could work with that. If he had to use some ghost perks to speed up the process, no one would be any the wiser.
He quickly pulled on some casual clothes, you can never go wrong with a NASA hoodie and black trousers, before he sped for the bathroom. He was in and out and down to the kitchen like lightning.
‘Thank god mom and dad are only ever down the labs or in their room.’ He thought as he grabbed a quick bite.
The house felt empty.
It has for the past year or so, ever since Jazz left for college some states over.
Soon – Danny thought. In just one more year, he will be able to leave this house behind as well.
He quickly scarfed down the rest of his breakfast and left silently like the wind.
Once outside, he stepped into a familiar alleyway and let his transformation wash over him. He flew high up into the sky.
His itinerary towards Casper high was practically second nature, and he let his body take the lead as he looked around, down at Amity.
Ghost attacks have become less frequent, but visits were becoming more common. It would still take some time before the citizens actually understood that, though. So Phantom was still as busy as ever. Just thankfully, less beat up.
At a distance, down below, a student running late felt a shift in the air. She looked up at the sky and saw... an anomaly.
She pulled her phone out of her pocket and hastily tried to take a picture. Once shot, the entity was glitchy as fuck.
She pulled up Twitter and put out a quick tweet before hurrying on.
-----
Danny slipped into his seat at the back of Lancer’s class with two minutes to spare. Most of the class was already present.
Lancer walked in and proclaimed it, “Too early to deal with this,” and started the class without marking attendances. The last few students came in a few minutes after without much fuss from them or their teacher, and class went on as normal. If the students seated near Daniel Fenton felt chills on their back, no one made a sound.
‘It can’t be coming from him. Not from that whimp.’ were their collective thoughts.
Puberty may have stretched him out and he may be quite fit, but his baggy clothing made sure no one would be aware of it. Sometime when he was fifteen Danny realized how badly his identity was hidden. He made an effort starting then, and it has been working well. No one suspected a thing, no one but Wes, of course.
Classes came and went. Students got increasingly creeped out near Danny Fenton of all people, for whatever reason.
Lunch came around.
It was just the second week since the start of the school year and Danny was already tired of it. Lunch breaks and free periods they shared being his only salvation. Such as right now.
The universe still seemed against Danny, for some reason. When they received their timetables for the first semester Team Phantom was thoroughly pissed. They barely had any classes together, the ones which they did share, were the only classes they took where there was only one class. They must’ve caught on that Sam and Tucker were covering for Danny’s ‘extracurricular activities’, and, fair. But it sucks.
While walking through the halls towards the cafeteria, he couldn’t help but notice the other students all stepped away a bit more than usual. Couldn’t help but overhear some whispers.
Do you think it could be because of some creepy shit his parents have been pulling? They have a PORTAL in their basement, don’t they?
Maybe you’re right... God, he may be a loser but I kind of feel bad... Shit! He’s near, shh.
If Danny didn’t know any better, he would’ve thought he was back in his freshman year. Actually, that might be the case. He wouldn’t put it past Clockwork to send him back in the past without warning. But their comments do not add up, at all.
Making his way past the rows of lockers a bit faster, he quickly arrived at the cafeteria. He went up, got some food and sat down at their usual table. The other two were already there.
“Do I have something weird on my face or something? Do I have ectoplasm scarring I missed?” was his greeting.
Sam and Tucker looked up from their food and stared at him with unreadable expressions. Eventually Sam scrunched her brows in confusion when that emotion won the inner battle.
“No... but if people have been avoiding you I can understand why. No offense, but you feel insanely unapproachable. Any idea what could’ve caused it?” The goth spoke with little emotion in her voice. It might’ve been a subconscious effort to not set off this anomaly- no, her friend, she had to remind herself. Why?
Tucker wanted to join in on the conversation, but his throat was locked. Why? This is his best friend! He could only settle for nodding with an identical quizzical expression on his face.
Danny sighed, and sat down frustrated. They continued their lunch, ignoring the elephant in the room. They tried to chat normally. They talked about the upcomming DOOMED game and the co op session they had been planning for ages, since its reveal. Lunch proceeded normally. If Sam and Tucker still felt on edge, they did not let Danny know. They shouldn’t.
-----
Danny was at P.E. His last period of the day and light at the end of the tunnel. Aside from the avoidances all around, his day had gone smoothly. Of course, that’s when everything went wrong.
As he reached the end of the obstacle course, alarms blared. The ones signaling a ghost attack, yeah, those.
After three years of ghost attacks, everyone had become used to the procedure and thankfully quickly left the gymnasium, to the safety zones, belongings forgotten. Danny was with them, until he wasn’t.
While walking, running, with the crowd, he silently left them and slipped into the bathroom invisibly and intangibly. He transformed, and left in the same state.
He took the malevolent ghost – a new one, huh – by surprise and tackled the both of them to the outside, somewhere safer and less destructable.
The ghost sneered, something about not expecting the ghost child to show up so quick. It was rare to meet a ghost out here who was unaware of the fact Phantom attended Casper high as a human.
Below, some people ran. Other passerby stopped in their tracks instead, gawking up at the two ghosts. Was that Phantom?
The teenaged ghost looked familiar, yet so different, so distant, hazy, unapproachable. If people claimed this is the one ghost you could always trust to help you, people would not have believed it. Few people’s hands subconsciously headed for their phones.
In the air, the ghost got ready to launch an attack, until they looked up and tilted their head.
“You are the ghost child, right?”
“Phantom? Yeah, who else? Now come on, let’s do this dance quick so I can head back. Some of us actually have something to do with their afterlife.”
The other ghost was still clearly thrown off, they shook their head and readied themselves again. Whatever was going on was weird, Danny had decided that hours ago, but it just became even crazier, if ghosts were affected too.
His solution was to ignore the issue. If he did not pay it any mind, it would go away on its own, and hopefully not bite him back in the ass.
He took advantage of the ghost’s confusion. He shot a quick ectoblast at their chest and sucked them into the thermos. After sealing them, he darted back towards the school.
Once inside, he noticed the students packing their bags and leaving. When he got near them invisibly, someone less attentive wouldn’t have noticed anything odd. Danny saw that they became tense and rigid.
He ignored the ever-growing enigma and ran the facts through his mind. Right, it was last period. The area must’ve been declared safe and they’d been dismissed early.
No one noticed, or cared about, his absence as usual.
Danny did a quick one over of the entire school building before heading towards the gymnasium. Thankfully there were no damages inflicted in between the ghost’s arrival and the time he took to transform and push them out.
He gathered his things and sped back home, ignoring the dread gnawing at the back of his mind.
Meanwhile, Amity’s filtered side of social media was ablaze.
Who’s the Marriage Counselor?
fanfiction
ao3
word count: 1304
Unfortunately, due to ghost laws, the ghost king is also the ghost marriage counselor. @currentlylurking
hey guys phils back
Danny was changing in the locker room at school. His gym class had just finished up and the rest of his classmates had already left. He finished switching shirts and he slammed the door shut. A face greeted him on the other side and he jumped.
“Shit! Phil! Why are you in the locker room?”
“I have some important information that the Observants wanted me to pass onto you, your majesty.”
“Is it so important that it couldn’t at least wait until I was out of the locker room?”
Phil remained silent for a few seconds before he responded. “Probably not, your majesty.”
Danny groaned. “Why do you always do this? Lancer’s gonna have a heart attack if you follow me to my english class. He’s not over the fact that I was revealed to be Phantom by being crowned the ghost king. Or that that was why my grades had started falling so much.”
“I’ve seen how much he cares, your majesty.” He followed Danny when he started walking away. “He’s been very accommodating since discovering your secret.”
“You mean since you exposed it to everyone.”
“I apologize, your majesty.”
Danny waved him off and pushed open the door to the locker room. “It’s fine. It would have been less fine if I had been dissected afterwards but that didn’t happen so I think we’re good.”
“Thank you, your majesty.”
“So what’s this important information you were supposed to tell me?” Danny walked through the gym and out into the hallway. “Is it another council meeting?”
“No, your majesty. I was to inform you that you have a marriage counseling appointment at 5:30 today.”
“What?” Danny shot a confused look at him. “I’m not married, Phil.”
“It’s not your appointment, your majesty. You are the one acting as the marriage counselor for your appointment with Mr. Skulker and Mrs. Mcclain.”
“No, no, no. I can’t be a marriage counselor! I don’t have any training for this. I barely had any training to be king!”
“It is something the ghost king has been responsible for for millenia, your majesty.”
“Why can’t you be the marriage counselor?” Danny asked Phil, frowning. “You already seem to know how to do everything else.”
“I’m sorry, your majesty. It seems that is the one skill I am without.”
“I don’t have that skill either!” He threw his hands up in the air. “Why is this something the ghost king is responsible for?”
Phil only shrugged.
Danny groaned. “Why am I only hearing about this now, anyways? That only gives me a couple hours to figure out how this works.”
“I lost the note the Observants gave me in my pocket last week, your majesty. I did not find it until thirty four minutes ago.”
“Of course that happened.” Danny glared at him. “What else would infinite pockets be good for if not for losing the orders and notes everyone else gives you?”
“I always have change on me, your majesty.”
“But can you find it?”
Phil nodded.
Danny squinted his eyes at him. “But not the very important documents the Observants give you?”
Phil shook his head.
Danny sighed. “How has this become my life? Sure, I guess. I’ll be there. Where are we doing this?”
“Inside the palace, your majesty.”
They stopped outside the door to Mr. Lancer’s classroom. “Okay, that makes it easy. Now go away before Lancer sees you.”
Danny turned to enter the classroom and was met face to face with Lancer. He saw Lancer look behind him and his eyes widened.
“William.” Phil said. He bowed and then disappeared with a gust of wind that sent Lancer’s tie fluttering.
“Land of the lost, Mr. Fenton. What was he here for this time?”
Danny grinned at him, giving him a sarcastic shrug.
“Apparently I’m a marriage counselor now too!”
Lancer just looked at him and turned away, walking into the classroom.
“I need to go sit down.”
-----
“Okay.” Danny said as he sat down on his throne. “I was only informed of this today and I have no idea what I’m doing so don’t expect to have any good results. Most of this will be on you guys.”
“I didn’t know that this law was still in effect. If I knew we were gonna get dipstick here I would’ve suggested we go talk to Spectra instead.” Ember said as she leaned back in her chair.
“Spectra isn’t-”
Danny was interrupted by Skulker talking over him. “We’ve already had that discussion. That woman is horrendous and only does stuff for her own self gain. She’d make us start arguing with each other for fun. Besides, she’s not doing much better with Bertrand either. She was also thinking about signing up for marriage counseling too.”
Danny shook his head and waved his arms back and forth. “No, Spectra is not allowed anywhere near here if she’s looking for marriage counseling.”
“Are you allowed to do that?” Ember asked as she leaned back forward. “Refuse clients? Just because they attacked and tried to manipulate you? Isn’t that discrimination?”
“No!”
Skulker nodded his head. “That makes sense. He didn’t decline us though and we’ve attacked him. It’s just gotta be because Spectra is terrible.”
Danny sighed. “Okay, enough about Spectra. Why are you guys here? I need to be home for dinner by seven.”
“We’re just having trouble compromising on things together.” Ember said. “Skulker wants me to move to his lair, but there’s so many bugs there. But he doesn’t want to move to mine because it’s not ‘manly enough’ for him.”
“Everything is covered in doilies!” Skulker shouts.
“That’s not my fault!” Ember shouted back. “At least they’re not mosquitoes!”
Danny held his hand up and waited for them to look back at him. “I mean, I don’t know that much about the ghost zone laws and policies yet, it’s not like your lair will disappear if you’re not staying there, right? You could spend a couple nights at one lair, a couple nights at the other. Or even stay at your own lair alone if you need alone time.”
Ember and Skulker looked at each other. “That could work.” Ember said
“Great!” Danny clapped his hands together. “Was that all then?”
“Actually, no.” Skulker said. “Ember and I have been trying for a baby and we can’t decide if-”
“No, nope!” Danny stood up and walked away. “I don’t wanna hear about it. I don’t even wanna know how that works.”
“Well who else are we supposed to go to for marriage counseling then?” Ember asked, glaring at him.
“If I can find a marriage counselor in Amity Park that’s actually qualified and willing to take on ghosts would you consider that?”
Skulker and Ember traded looks between each other.
“They would be an actual trained adult professional. Who would be a lot less grossed out by however you guys procreate.”
“That would probably be better.” Skulker said quietly, thinking. “He does not have much life experience. It would be nice to talk to someone who might understand what having kids is like.”
“Awesome! We can get that arranged. Let me go find- AH!” Danny turned and found someone in front of him. He jumped back. “Phil!”
“You rang, your majesty?”
“Yes. Can you find Skulker and Ember a human marriage counselor? They want to talk about things that I do not have the experience to help them with and they think an actual marriage counselor would be better suited.”
“Of course, your majesty.”
“Thank you.” He started walking out of the throne room. “This is definitely something I’ll have to bring up at the next council meeting. I cannot keep doing this.”
“I’ll add it to your notes for the next meeting, your majesty.”
“Thanks, Phil. Don’t lose them.”
“I won’t, your majesty.”
