Introducing; Yuichi Usagi-Cuddles!

There’s a slight typo in his basic character bio, (first, grey image) other than “yuich,” his family in America lives in the part of the hidden city under Jersey. He lives in Jersey. He’s a Jersian. So in terms of leosagi, it’s gonna be an enemies-to-lovers comedy-of-errors muahahahaha!!

Basically; He’s a silly guy! I feel like his kinda buffoonish, embarrassing personality in canon is simultaneously PERFECT for Rise’s writing style & grievously underrated in fanon depictions. So he’s this clownish type of character, haha.

Okay, time to go hyperfixation mode.

Adhd & his stubborn attitude;

He has ADHD! Executive function issues makes it hard for him to start tasks & manage himself, so he relies on his teams (the Mad Dogs when he’s training & the Rise equivalent to his canon friend group on his own time) to not only instruct him, but also hold him accountable & keep him on task. He’s body-doubling without even realizing it.

Although, he resents the things he does to accommodate his disability. He doesn’t notice that doing the things he does genuinely helps or why so he thinks he’s using them as a crutch because of incompetence. Every time he gets stubborn and ignores the things he needs to do, he crashes and burns. When he was new in town with no teacher & no friends who liked martial arts, he became a huge sad sack until the kraang invasion.

His character arc is about being able to rely on other people & accommodations. That relying on a bit more help than other people doesn’t make you incompetent, choosing to seek out the support you need so you can do your best is the true mature thing to do. I was inspired by canon Yuichi’s struggles with paying attention and Rise’s themes of cooperation. (& also my own experience with adhd and learning with executive function issues & junk)

Relationships w/ the turtles;

The Mad Dogs agree to let him like, intern with them? So he can see what it’s like to be a vigilante, they offer him advice and they occasionally go on low to mid-tier missions with his help. They take him on cause they think more heroes and allies out there, the less work they have to do haha. Also, one of the writers mentioned a season 3 would have them adjusting to being ~official heroes,~ I think this would be them trying to be “real.”

He’s closest friends with Mikey out of the whole group! (Adhd solidarity) Then it goes Donnie -> Raph -> and finally Leo (for now muahaha)

I tried to give Leosagi an interesting dynamic with constructing his character like this; They have similar insecurities from drawing self-worth from technical capabilities that they can develop past together, but Leo is clever and calculating about it vs Yuichi being rash and impulsive. So like smart x stupid but they’re the same actually.

His Family in Jersey;

He speaks english fluently because he’s visited his American family frequently his whole life, they’re very close. He has an accent though since he mainly speaks Japanese.

I haven’t fleshed out this concept enough, but I think members of his jersey/Cuddles half of the family would be spoofs of characters from the original yojimbo comics, implied to be reincarnations? Except Miyamoto ofc. (i’ll explain later..)

Reusing the ninja orphans plotline from the original show, his family utilizes their cute appearances to run an orphanage too. They wonder why this Chizu lady is constantly showing up with unhoused children, but they’re just grateful they’re safe now.

Everyone in his family HATES Mrs. Cuddles, they all think she’s in prison and are happy about it. She might’ve given him that scratch on his face.

I can't stress enough how this Fandom can be fxcking stupid so I'll take advantage of it to make a brief analysis

TikTok is back at it with being extremely gullible

people seriously believe this is Koyoharu Gotōge's official account. a quick glance would debunk it immediately, but if we wanna look into details there are mainly 3 things that are really obvious and they all piss me off SO bad:

1) they posted fanart. literal fanart, without consent, of course, and without any credits, badly cropped and filtered too. I couldn't see signatures in most of them, but I recognized some art styles and overall it's easy to spot non-official art when you also follow Ufotable's official account. from which, by the way, this fake account takes all of the content they post, then they write a silly and pseudo-cool caption and that's literally it. what's the point? one of the captions said something that quite fucking literally made me want to scream, joking about Shinobu possibly being Tengen's 4th wife because there was a pic in which their VAs were standing close....what. Gotōge would never say that???

2) they reply to fans, which isn't bad per se but let's be SO fr...and it's not even the worst part.

3) said replies include misinformation. saw them saying Masachika would be reincarnated as Sanemi's son or stepson (what the fuck) AND that Sanemi and Kanae would've been canon if Kanae didn't die, which, I'm sorry, is the fakest fucking thing I've ever read despite being a common misbelief.

I don't want to digress too much into this but imagine you're an author, you have the power over your characters and you decide to add a couple that will be doomed inevitably...you would make it canon, if it was supposed to be. you would AT LEAST make said crush remotely relevant in AT LEAST one of the two characters' arc...which it isn't. in ANY of the canon universes. the Academy is right there, the Timeskip is right there, both had Kanae alive and both don't make SaneKana canon, not even remotely. HEAVY ON THE TIMESKIP in which ObaMitsu are married, but they're canon in all the verses...Mitsuri had an actual impact on Obanai's character and even when there's silly trivia about him in databooks or even in the manga it always somehow involves Mitsuri, something that we did NOT see with Sanemi and Kanae.

now, as much as I would talk *endlessly* about this, I don't want to sound hateful to shippers, but it pisses me off that a Gotōge-wannabe is reinforcing the toxic shippers' delusions.

I would've lost my shit even if they said the same thing about my fav fanon ships, because it's FAKE.

I see people calling what James and Snape had was a rivalry, and have seen others call it just straight up bullying (James to Snape). What do you think?

If it’s a rivalry, then what for? Rivalry is "competition for the same objective or for superiority in the same field". I don’t understand what they were competing for.

James bullied Snape and he thought Snape deserved it, being a "bad person" obsessed with dark arts and hanging out with "possibly" Death Eaters’ kids and Slytherins.

But it’s not a typical bully-victim situation. It seems JKR tried to liken James to Draco in the train memory, but it didn’t quite work. In that memory, for example, most of the blame lies with Snape. But James is at fault for using physical force (tripping him). As I said before, in the context of a genocidal war at that time, there’s nothing wrong with strongly expressing a desire not to be in Slytherin (especially since Snape was trying to persuade Lily to join). So in fact, it’s Snape who starts first because he can’t accept that people hate Slytherin for its "politics" (and they are right in it). So, he insults Gryffindor as brainless idiots. Young Snape is already enamoured with Slytherin’s greatness and infected with pureblood ideology.

Moreover, I'm sure Snape fought back. He wasn’t a coward. Snape is anything but a coward. Snape fought back, he knew more curses in his first year than anyone else. He was also sharp-tongued from the first year. He figured out Remus's secret and wanted to expose them, spied on them, etc. We know that adult Snape was one of the most powerful wizards of his time. He couldn't do much against James and Sirius, but one-on-one, he surely could.

But in the end, it was still bullying. It’s just that James and Sirius were more popular and Gryffindors. Snape, being a Slytherin and tolerant of blood purity ideas, was already losing in that sense — most people would naturally side with Sirius and James. These teenagers felt no guilt about bullying Snape.

The power imbalance was on James and Sirius’s side because Snape was on the morally losing side from the start. The Ministry and society officially fought against Voldemort and these ideas, even though they still lived in people's minds. So J&S felt justified, unpunished, and James even thought he was doing the right thing. I think many muggle-borns hated Snape and sided with J&S.

(Just imagine, in an AU where Voldemort won, this imbalance in favor of James and Sirius wouldn’t exist; everything would be different. It would be resistance, not bullying, because most people would be afraid to support them, and James and Sirius would face ostracism and punishment, while Snape would feel justified.)

So despite the fact that Snape really chose a very bad, disgusting side, James and Sirius shouldn’t have bullied him publicly. I think the biggest humiliation was that the bullying was often public. If they hated each other one-on-one and had duels, well, okay, that wouldn’t be bullying, Snape was also strong student and wizard, he could fight back, it happens sometimes between people, and Snape also started conflicts. It’s the public humiliation that was the worst part of James and Sirius’s actions. With this, Snape could do nothing, he didn’t have public support (he had Slytherins’ support tho). And it was the public support that created the biggest imbalance in favor of Sirius and James.

When their confrontations stopped being public and James and Snape fought each other "in secret", it was no longer bullying. Snape wasn’t a weak boy, he also cursed James, and S&R confirmed it. Not every confrontation is bullying, and assuming that James was inherently stronger than Snape is very strange.

But I genuinely don’t understand how fanon!Snape stans manage to think that public bullying makes James and Sirius the worst people in the book, while joining a genocide does not. Like "Snape was a child"... and James wasn't? Do you really not see the difference between using a spell that was popular at the time in school (which Snape himself created) and voluntarily joining a genocide?

have recently learned there's a bit more hate around trainwreckshipping than i was aware of so i guess i just wanted to talk about it a bit and give my two cents on the ship, how i see it and i guess my perspective on things. i've kind of always wanted to talk about it, but i just haven't been brave enough until now haha (sorry, i am not super eloquent when it comes to writing things like this so my apologies) ((also throwing it under a cut because it may get long and might also include some slightly sad-ish things so i don't want to just throw that in everyone's face you know))

i think i'll just preface things by saying i've always totally understood why trainwreckshipping has gotten so much flack since its inception. or hate, because maybe flack just isn't strong enough of a word. but i do understand. there were mischaracterizations of emmet by portraying him as violent to volo because it was assumed that volo was directly responsible for ingo's disappearance. i was guilty of it. suuuuuper guilty. and i can understand why that put the ship in such a position for many people. toxic, unhealthy, etc. but... i think what i'm a bit confused on i guess is the fact that it's still viewed so much this way to this day. viewed as one of the worst ships because of how toxic it is. how unhealthy it is. all because it started that way in fanon only. but you know, from a canon standpoint, it has nothing. nothing at all. so really, this ship could be anything because it's based in fanon only. no canon interactions of emmet and volo exist yet. there is no official basis on how these characters would interact with each other. and yes, while there were misunderstandings of both characters early on, that certainly doesn't mean it's still that way today. that doesn't mean that people haven't studied and looked at these two characters a little closer to understand them better and to try and make them more realistic to their canon portrayals. to make more accurate depictions of these characters and how that fits in to a healthier perspective with them. i dunno. it just kinda baffles me that with the variety of trainwreckshipping content out there now, some still call it toxic and unhealthy as if we're perpetually stuck in that time period of when it was. like it's not allowed to be anything but that ever just because it started that way. and what makes me the saddest about it all is now seeing so many friends and people in the community of the ship start to get disheartened and discouraged from enjoying something they really actually enjoy because there's still such a bad stigma to the ship. personally for a long time i've just ignored that stigma because i try not to let that stuff drag me down. but i will admit that yes, it has made me more reluctant to post any art i do of it. i've definitely had my periods where i've questioned uploading my emmet/volo art, usually as wholesome as it is, because it does have such a dark cloud around it fandom wise. it's why i made my side blog, in fact. because i just didn't feel very comfortable uploading mostly emmet/volo art here to my main because so many people dislike it or outright hate it.

and in regards to the ship itself, i think i've always thought of it in a slightly different way than most. not so much enemies to lovers but rather through the lens of how volo might could change, be redeemed, see the how his actions in the past inadvertently affected others (and by that I mean his involvement in opening the rift... like yes, that could be what caused ingo to be sent to hisui, but we don't know that for sure... and even if that was the case, volo didn't do it specifically to target ingo. volo was only ever interested in trying to get to arceus and build a better world in his vision).

or how volo could look at emmet after getting to know him and potentially see the beauty and value of the current world through him. you know, seeing someone like emmet and admiring that he can still find a reason to smile and be kind despite all of the pain and suffering he must have gone through since ingo's disappearance. volo starting to see a different perspective than he did before (aka wanting to build a new world because the current one was too full of pain and suffering) because of emmet. i dunno. that's just me personally. because since actually looking more at volo's character and his dialogue in game i've been real interested in redemption paths for him. exploring those possibilities. i just enjoy exploring said possibilities mostly through the dynamic i have in my head for him and emmet because it's fun. it interests me. i see cool potential in it. i enjoy it a lot. and while i don't think i ever portray volo super accurately, or even emmet for that matter, i still think i've come a long way since first finishing pla and ever looking at emmet/volo interactions. but regardless of all of that, that's the beauty of a ship of this nature. a ship that has absolutely no basis in canon. because it really can be anything you want it to be. it can be enemies to lovers, it can be more wholesome, it can be whatever. it's not locked into a specific dynamic because the characters have never officially met each other, let alone had a conversation. and even if that were the case... AUs are still a thing. :D

anyway that's pretty much all i had. just wanted to talk about it a bit because i've seen a recent uptick in people mentioning all of the hate and dislike for the ship etc and i dunno. i enjoy the ship a lot. it's just sad to see that there's still so much hate around it even though a lot of the content now is not like how it originally started. not from what i've seen, at least.

and while i don't expect anyone who hates it to ever warm up to it, i just wish it could be understood that the more toxic, unhealthy dynamic is not the basis of anymore. there are healthier portrayals of it now.

Question! What exactly is march!eridan and? How was the reception towards june? Im sorry, I haven't been a part of the hs fandom in years

March!Eridan- or, more commonly, simply March Eridan- is a long-running fandom joke and fanon trope based on an image of Eridan crossdressing that was made for one of the official calendars, back in around... 2010.

Pictured here. The problem with this is that this was a "Man in a Dress" joke- an age-old transmisogynistic trope. Now, this doesn't say much about who the artist is as a person nowadays, as this is far too old to truly hang over their head, but... People took it and ran. It's been a running gag ever since the image was created. And the fandom was... Horrible about it, to say the least. People were using all manners of slurs with regards to its concept, many reacting to this image with nothing but pure disgust. And if people weren't turning the concept of a GNC guy into a laughingstock or making it out to be entirely repulsive, then they were horrifically oversexualizing him, despite his age- which, reminder, is 13 years old. It was awful, and I'm seeing the same shit to this day, even if it is on a smaller scale. It's just not kosher either way. It's not surprising at all that that's how people handled it in 2010. It's definitely a product of its time- which isn't an excuse, but absolutely a solid explanation. I really do expect better of people in 2023, though. Especially from people who claim to be "beyond" this kind of thing.

As for June's reception... God, it was awful. The amount of harassment that happened over whether her concept was even worth consideration was entirely unacceptable. No one could be normal about it. Even people who didn't care at all about canonicity and just liked the idea of June as a headcanon got lambasted. I'm honestly glad you weren't there to see it, it was all pretty sickening. I might not agree with how hardcore people will get about June's canonicity, but I do understand where that defensiveness comes from completely. It's hard to not go insane when you feel like the safety of yourself and/or your sisters is being threatened in a community you had grown to feel housed you in a way no other community really will. Getting defensive, having such strong opinions and boundaries regarding the whole thing... It's completely and utterly understandable. Natural, even. You and I would probably be the same way, had either of us been closer to the situation.

The Homestuck fandom's transmisogyny is a well that runs deep, and is about as old as the comic itself... I hate to see that it's continuing to this day. It's hard to be grateful that it doesn't seem to be as bad as it used to be, because the June situation really just proved how many people are closet transmisogynists... Even people who have outwardly progressive politics, or are trans themselves. It's disappointing, to say the least.

Also, saying this in advance: Most people tend to jump to insulting the original artist for March Eridan's art style or technique... Please refrain from doing so here, it's a childish and petty response to this conversation. There's nothing original or insightful one could say in insulting the quality their work. It's been done. oh god. genuinely, homestuck completely shaped my adolescence and pop culture diet in extremely noticeable ways. i was one of those dave transmascs

i cosplayed vriska to school. i only really hit it off with my last ex when we started talking about homestuck. on 4/13 last year i almost passed up going to the club because i hadn't drawn any fan art yet. in fact part of why my sleep schedule is so fucked up is that for years i would stay up til 1-3am drawing homestuck fan art. indeed, the fact that i run two homestuck blogs impacts my schedule and daily routine significantly. i've given graded presentations on homestuck music in university. i still say "now we're cooking with petrol!" in real life. not only did i have moirails and auspistices and blackrom crushes in real life in middle school, i also, currently, as an adult, have someone in my life i consider my moirail. over half of my prosthetics, which i use in real sexual encounters, are tentacles, and You Know Why. my OC-verse has been radically shaped by homestuck (and the energy i spend on homestuck does NOT go to my OC-verse; before getting into the comic i thought i'd be a bestselling author by now). there is not a single area of my life that has not been touched by this webcomic. i will probably be buried with a scalemate plushie.

so i hate to say it, but man sometimes i think they're asking jim beaver more than he can deliver with bobby. like he was so clearly trying to have some sort of revelation in the warehouse when sam was evacuating the humans, but it was so. over the top. and still not really clear was his deal was. it was strange. but things often feel sort of forced with him and this character, to me.

Self-insert TMNT au where me, completely out of it with a really high fever, decide it's a good idea to try and work on my TMNT AU but I accidentally press something I shouldn't've in my feverish and delusional state, and a portal opens up depositing me, my tablet, my phone, my pillow, and my blanket/comforter into the sewer tunnels right as the 2012 bros are passing by after escorting April to her Aunt's apartment on their first adventure above ground. From September 28th, 2023 to September 28th, 2012.

This is also an AU where humanity is more technologically advanced, and many TMNT fanon series/characters have been subsumed into canon as either canon alternate timelines, or straight-up official prologues/epilogues. For example, the Cass Apocalypse AU was made into the official prologue/epilogue to the RotTMNT Movie, @/myrling-art's 2012 Ramona fanchild (I forgot her name, believe it's Irrila but could be wrong) was made into a canon shipkid, etc.

Tidbit Time!

- Since I was 6 years old in September 2012, my physical clock wound back as I fell through the portal, but I still have all the memories and knowledge of my real-world self. 6 physically, 17 mentally, 6 psychologically

- this is inspired by a fic where Donnie, Mikey, and Leo de-age to about 6 years old as part of a re-written "A Chinatown Ghost Story" in a re-written Season 2. They still have all their memories of being 16, but they're behaving more like their physical age, not their mental age. - My tablet and my phone both still read "September 28th, 2023" for the entire time I'm in the 2012 world

- How do I get back? Dying, of course! I save Splinter from dying in Season 4, get killed by Shredder in his place, and wake up in my bed back home.

- My adventures in the 2012 world become the inspiration for my TMNT AU (✨It all comes full circle✨)

- Things go slightly differently in some episodes because of the fact that I'm basically omniscient and know almost everything that happens, so that + my ability to rewrite the story from the inside let me do Cool Things like give characters visions of scenes

- Leo and Karai never do the awkward flirt thing because he comes to me for advice and I tell him "You can keep hanging out with her, but just don't flirt with her or try anything romantic with her." - Spike! Love Spike. Since I'm really small now and can't leave the lair without April (and later Casey), I get tasked with protecting Spike and taking care of him while the guys are out patrolling and whatnot. When Spike becomes Slash, the "beating up Raph's siblings" thing doesn't happen because I tell Spike about how Raph and his brothers all love each other, they just don't show it how normal people do whenever I babysit him and he doesn't hate them :D

- ADHD/ADD & Autism bonding (aka me and Mikey bonding cuz he reminds me a lot of myself and I have ADD [ADHD but without the Hyperactivity part] + Autism, and Mikey canonically has ADD and I'm pretty sure he also has Autism because his mental/true self is still 6 years old)

- I convince Donnie to make a big mat with a whole bunch of buttons on 'em to help occupy Mikey (and me, buttons are fun) in the lab :D

Where did the idea of Tim being someone who is clueless about sex come from? In the page where Steph tells him she is pregnant, it's clear she's just teasing him and he knows how babies are made.

Oh god, don't get me started on this. I hate it, and I'll admit that I used to participate in it, but I think the majority of it may actually come from the TimSteph fandom of ole.

Look, a lot of Tim fans like to baby Tim. I do it to an extent too, but he's not helpless or naïve in any way. I've discussed it in another post regarding the fandoms hypersexualization of Steph but it's genuinely a part of keeping his perfect, goody-goody image all coming from a place of projecting something, who tf knows what. It comes off very weird to me because like...is he less pure and baby and good if he fucks or just knows what sex is??? Nefarious if you ask me.

And this just isn't true. Tim obviously knows what sex is, and discussed it with Ariana as a step he wanted to take with her, likely after marriage. Which, some may say that him wanting to wait is part of it, but he's 14 here and I just don't think it's a priority for him really, not yet.

A lot of fans act as if Tim was mortified or terrified during the above panels, and he just...wasn't? He was surprised, but he handled it very maturely and respectfully. He obviously knows what she's asking for and how serious of a step it is. He's NOT naïve.

And I discussed further regarding this panel which is the most popular "damning evidence of Tim being baby":

Is just a straight up stupid reading of this.

Tim is trying to process this very large shock that's been put on him and on Steph who he has only been on one official date with at this point. If you understand Steph's character at all, which most who play into this fanon BS do not, you will understand that she deflects by making jokes and light teasing. She knows Tim knows he's not the father, she isn't suggesting that he is stupid, she's trying to ease the very palpable tension that has just been dropped into her new relationship with Tim. To assume that Tim ACTUALLY thinks that babies come from making out, is just...I don't know where to start anon...

It doesn't help that fanfics and fanart have often showed Steph "scaring" Tim by showing him her boobies, which partially may come from her very OOC tactic of distracting The General by pretending she was going to show him her tits...nice, DC.

And then you have the gross misconception that the reason Tim is scared in this panel, isn't because he's about to be raped, but "ahhhh titties!!!" -_-...

So fans just...rolled with that dynamic and we have very good art, but also highly OOC like this piece by gabzilla:

Timmy is too precious, he's too scared of boobies and sex and he needs to be coddled.

It's just very bizarre and I could rant in length about how just being a virgin doesn't make you naïve and that would be me self projecting, or how being a virgin doesn't make you more good and pure than anyone else but like...I'm lazy.

At the end of the day, this is just a straight up wrong reading of Tim. He's not naïve, he knows what sex is, plans to have it one day, and isn't scared of boobies. I'm so over that take, it's so fucking stupid.

Alright, this might be a bit too early to be saying this, but ever since Rook's 'betrayal' and those who are hating on him now...I'm kind of worried the same thing might happen to Silver. Since each of the stories take parts from the movies, we know that Silver is twisted from the sword that killed Maleficent. And what if he's forced to defeat Malmal? Knowing toxic people are in the fandom, they might start bashing others for still loving him. That's what scares me. ~🍁leaf anon

I was thinking of the same thing a few days ago www. Well, *sigh* time for another analysis I guess:

Considering what we had to go through after Pomefiore chapter...I thought if it was really just because of how the story ended. But I came to realize something important, the drama wasn't simply because a NRC student voted for RSA, it was because Rook did this, a character who already had a considerably dramatic reputation in the fandom way before Pomefiore was released:

Let me give you a better example, Leona. In savanaclaw's arc Leona was this close to seriously killing Ruggie. We all know that it wasn't intentional, his attack was a result of having his magic stone tainted which soon led to Leona's overblot so his actions/ emotions weren't really under his control at the time.

But still, he almost killed Ruggie but no one ever really started a drama or #CancelLeonaKingscholar tag over it, I'd dare say no one even blamed him either.

Well Leona might not be the best example we can use here but I assure you, if Rook does something really bad, and Leoona does the exacf same thing afterwards, Leona would face less punishment and blame because of his current popularity and clout.

According to the statistics, Leona's currently the most popular dorm leader and most likely the most popular character of the game, doing something absolutely horrible may lead to a mild decrease in number of fans, yet, it'll never, never be as dramatic and horrible as what fans did over Rook.

Look, clout is very important, so if a potentionally popular character does something bad a considerble majority of fans might simply ignore and exucse their deeds, note that as students who have souls of greatest of villains none of them were ever supposed to be any pure either; NRC is a school of villains.

What I'm trying to say, is that the drama was also exaggerated because it was with Rook of all people. Both Rook and Vil are characters who have been looked down on and harassed ever since twst was released, so no wonder why the fandom exploded when Rook of all people made NRC lose the VDC.

-Defending your bias- is something quite common in not just twst but rather each and every fandom all over the world! I'm not saying everyone would just ignore everything horrible their bias has done to defend them, but a huge majority of fans would this soooo when dramas like his arrive, more popular characters like Leona and Malleus have a higher chance of survival while Rook just drowned under the pile of hate comments and posts.

Regarding the Diasomnia chapter, I'd give you an example using Malleus; He is a very important character, dare to say the most important character of the game after Yuu. Why am I saying this? Oh God, can't you all see? The one and only character to be on twst's official poster, the only one who got an official artwork aside his concept art and game cards design; the very last character we're going to have a SSR pick up for and the last dorm leader we're going to meet and also the only character who happened to befriend and get to know Yuu without knowing them much or having a specific chance to meet them in school.

Why is his role so important? We don't know. We don't know what makes Malleus special and that's my point, it can even turn out to be something truly evil.

I love Malleus, but at the same time I don't fully trust him, his "I've got lovely plans to entertain you here" has been giving me chills for so long and if he turns out to be a total contrast to the silly tamagotchi baby this fandom has made of him I won't be the least surprised; yet, even if we get to face a plot twist that changes our entire perspective towards him ( in bad way) I still won't unstan him, not because I think of him as a misunderstood and isolated young boy who is kind and pure at heart no matter how scary he looks on the outside.

Each and every of our characters (except Silver, I'd later explain why) have a dark side to them whether you like it or not, that's a fact. Expecting guys who are supposedly twisted Villains to behave like a prince on the white horse is nothing but a wild fanon fantasy.

I guess Diasomnia chapter is still going to face less drama since most of Diasomnia characters are considerbly popular among the fans, but Sebek's on think ice I'd say, I'm sure that I won't ever see a #CancelMalleusDraconia tag but a #CancelSebekZigvolt tag? That's not too far from mind considering how Rook got shitted on because of a simple vote. I guess almost all of us have already prepared for Silver's possible betrayal as the sword so if anyone ever dares start a drama over something which we already saw coming long ago, that's a matter of immaturity and obvious stupidity.

Long story short, no matter what happens in the future story line, I expect everyone to be civil. Just a boo is all it takes for some dramtic fans to lose their minds again but let me tell you: Even if Malleus DIES(which is logically impossible) in the very end I'm still mature enough to never start a drama over it no matter how badly it hurts.

But...since I know there's never really a way to prevent drama in this fandom, all I can say is to stay silent whenever you see a wave of drama. Don't support the drama, but don't oppose to it either, just ignore it.

I was watching as the wave of Rook drama washed down the fandom and this is the summary of how posts changed under the tags:

12 hours after the release of Pomefiore's final episodes: Memes clowning Rook, mild spams of hate.

12 hours- 4 days after the release of Pomefiore's final episodes: Posts defending Rook, shoutouts, stuff explaining why Rook's vote for RSA made sense, etc.

You see what I mean? The first 12 hours was the main wave of hate spam but this drama was mainly about the spam of posts defending Rook, not attacking him.

Continuing a drama, whether it's by hating a character or defending them just worsens the chaos even as you're totally right and mean good.

The one and only way to truly prevent a drama from being spread all over the fandom, is by not supporting/atracking any posts, ignoring drama and waiting until no one is talking about it anymore.

As much as i hate twn it's been very interesting seeing the surge of interest around the witcher and seeing how people outside of poland/EE interpret it and what they focus on? Like I dont mean this in any negative way at all but in a "its fascinating how people's cultural background shapes how they look at foreign art and it's weird to be part of the original culture that produced it and not the alien culture consuming it like it is with american movies or something" like it's just Fascinating

it is interesting, i don't have much to add as an american, but i think this should be an open discussion. i think cultural background definitely shapes how one sees characters interact, reads lines that were said, etc...

in my experience, what i've appreciated is reading the books once just to get my first impressions, then going through it over the past couple of years with additions and translation notes from a variety of sources (polish mutuals and other eastern european people on here that post about the witcher, r/wiedzmin commentary, random wordpress blogs, etc) to get a better understanding of what's going on in certain contexts and understanding some of the cultural differences. because i believe translator notes do not just begin and end with "this is what this word means," but rather are needed to understand whole characters and scenes, because of a variety of aspects. for translation in the sense of translating words, the syntax and diction changes a lot from the polish to english official UK translation. of course, some change is inevitable because of the way that polish and english grammar works. but in some cases it's so severe that it changes how the prose sounds and in many cases changes how the characters come off. @karanfile has spoken about this, where in english geralt is pretty wordy, whereas in polish geralt is brisk and curt, and it makes them entirely different characters. 

here is also, of course, context surrounding cultural references, such as torque saying “goodnight” at the end of edge of the world, or the bounds of reason/limits of the possible with regards to villentretenmerth and sheepbagger. the witcher does draw on a variety of european mythology (and even extends as far as japanese mythology in season of storms), and many tales are utilized and inverted. but i think where an american audience will know sh’eenaz and duke agloval from hans christen andersen’s the little mermaid, we will be completely in the dark when it comes to princess adda, torque... i have seen many american and british reviews of the witcher praising it for its uniqueness and never-seen-before quality in including kinds of creatures from slavic mythology, and i can’t help but chuckle a bit because it’s not really a matter of uniqueness, just that the american and british audience are not familiar with the mythology! plus, since it loses that “familiarity” like these characters are living in a strange, inverted rendition of a story from your childhood, the message highlighted right on the page that “THIS IS A SERIES ABOUT INVERTING FANTASY TROPES” can be missed sometimes (though i also feel like it still remains obvious, with main characters who are blatant inversions of their tropes...)

another thing i have noticed (also spoke about this with karanfile and others in the discord) especially is how love and romance is interpreted by polish and american audiences. i was reading this wordpress article by sylwia of warsaw about the differences between how polish and american cultures concieve of friendship (i was thinking about how geralt calls dandelion his przyjaciel as his first introduction). (also here is another good article by her on the subject). a few things which came to my mind from reading this, and these thoughts are about broad cultures, not individuals!: 

americans generally seem to not recognize that “a friend” can mean someone very close. the word “friend” basically stands in for any kind of friendly relationship, you may spoken to someone once or have known them closely for 20 years, and both are your “friend.” it is also suggested usually that one’s friend is at odds with their boyfriend or girlfriend, i.e., it’s usually suggested that people will prioritize their boyfriend or girlfriend over their friend, nevermind how close either relationship might be to their friend (again, there’s only one real word for “friend”). there is also attitude against this, in a counter-culture manner, in which you get the “bros before hoes” type of sayings. this attitude i think affects how many americans see geralt and dandelion’s relationship - i.e., it is read that dandelion is just geralt’s “friend,” so he is not important to geralt, and that being “friends” doesn’t insinuate any closeness, and is “lesser” to romance. this i think also affects how many geraskiers from twn have changed the dynamic between geralt and jaskier in their fanon, because much “happy” or “ideal” geraskier content is of them calling each other pet names, doting on one another, being overly and overtly romantic. geralt and dandelion have never acted like this in either netflix or the books, and in the books where they are actually friends, they do not treat each other like this and there is nothing to suggest that if they had a romantic relationship that their dynamic would change to fit this idea of what romance is like.

similarly, dandelion’s floweriness and “hyper-romance” (i have no idea how else to phrase it) in the books has been interpreted by some american fans as being genuine, cute, sweet, romantic, and admirable -- when it’s pretty clear that the intention is to make him look foolish and absurd. when he flirts with women such as detchka in eternal flame (the landlord’s daughter), he whines some bullshit (UK translation, made even more flowery and out-of-place by david french, “Forest dryad! Sylph! Fairy! O, Divine creature, with eyes like azure lakes. Thou art as exquisite as the morn, and the shape of thine parted lips are enticeingly…”) geralt and dudu (in the form of dainty) cringe at his performance. and this is who dandelion is, he plays with love and acts embarassingly dramatic and forward about it. but to an american audience, this behavior comes off as sweet, romantic, dreamy, desirable... not utterly stupid like it’s intended to?

i also think about geralt and yennefer. this is barring actual qualms about the writing of their relationship itself, but i have also seen american fans say that they do not act like a couple because they are not constantly doting on one another. and of course, misinterpreting yennefer’s sarcasm about the house dream in time of contempt as a genuine response (i do believe she also longed for a home, but was simply teasing geralt for being so optimistic as to think that they could ever achieve something like that, as it seems improbable (especially to her, as she is older than him and has seen more of life)).

bringing it back to what you have said, anon, i think “romance” is something the american audience definitely bangs their fists on the table to demand, and focuses very closely on couple relationships. not that this isn’t the case in ANY other countries’ cultures, but from my experience, a tie in for deep, blinding romance it seems to be essential to american storytelling. this is unfortunate to me because i believe romance is only one element which makes the witcher strong.

this attitude is also highly reflected in netflix’s witcher series, as they did not show how geralt and jaskier are close friends, did not show how geralt is ciri’s father, and did show geralt and yennefer together, BUT with the caveat that they ruined their entire relationship and made geralt insanely dominant, merciless in rebuking and taking advantage of yennefer. romance is prioritized and it’s only a certain type of romance that is...?

According to the date on this I got my first ultimania in July 2020.

And my first piece of merch was my Cloud play arts Kai mini, but I can't find the post with just him, so he's joined by my Tifa mini cause I bought them as a set. She arrived in December, so I think I got Cloud in late November 2020.

I started collecting the books first cause I love reference materials and it just kinda spiralled from there 🤣

If you wanna start a collection then I think it's best to look at what's available and what sort of things you want. I don't just buy up every piece of merch around. Like, I haven't got Cloud's trading arts cause I hate the face on it, but I have Tifa cause hers is pretty ❤️

I also don't collect the big play arts kai as a rule, aside from dissidia Cloud and OG Tifa cause I really liked them, so you should decide what you want in your collection and how much you wanna pay cause these things run up pretty high if you're not careful.

Japanese sites tend to have stuff that's not stocked in other countries but watch out for shipping charges. I also hit up eBay a lot. That's where most of mine came from. I don't mind damaged boxes cause I don't plan to resell and a damaged box usually means a lower price, but with the remake stuff it's best to double check with the official store in case you're getting shafted. I almost was with my Cloud statuette until I double checked the retail price.

Sometimes I'll grab a random bargain. My Yuna statuette was a steal although I didn't plan on getting her, I just came across her going cheap and I like her so I got her. I impulse buy when I have spare money, but also bookmark a lot of things to see how I feel about them. My books end up bookmarked for a while before I get them because they're expensive and have high shipping charges, so I have to really think about if I want them. I usually do and even if the bookmarked one sells I can usually find another copy, so I don't really worry about not getting something immediately if it's not the right time/price. Collecting is supposed to be fun ❤️

I had Cloud and Tifa theatrhythm bookmarked for a bit but wasn't willing to pay too much. In the end I got lucky and found them both a lot cheaper than I expected, so everything usually shows up eventually if you wait long enough 😁

Also Etsy has some pretty fanon pieces. All of my pins and my cloti lamps are unofficial but they're great quality and very fairly priced, so a lot of time artists fill in the gap where official lets things down.

Main thing is to buy because you love it ☺️

I’m done making excuses for Stolas. I still like his character, think he’s a flawed but loving father, and sexy as fuck, but I have come to realize he can be all those things without making excuses for his behavior. I’m really hoping for some character development for Stolas. I’m pretty sure Blitzo seduced Stolas (out of desperation to earn money for his family) and Stolas is under the impression Blitzo loves him but is too dense to pick up on how unhappy Blitzo is. I want him to realize what he’s doing to Blitzo and be disgusted with himself. It a livestream, Viv did say the character’s actions will have consequences so I’m hoping for that. She’s a lot smarter than people thing and I’m pretty sure these issues will be addressed in the show.

Sad thing about the instagrams are that they were never meant to be canon (as confirmed by Viv) and I’m pretty sure they were run mostly by Stolitzo shippers who worked on the show. I’m not hating on them at all but it makes sense that the insta’s would be biased. Some people have even claimed that Stolas being kind to Blitzo was grooming so he can eventually have sex with him, so in way, kind Stolas never existed.

I find myself feeling more comfortable around fanon Stolitzo, I love all the cute fanart and comics, it fills the whole in my heart of what this ship could be one day. I don’t like it when anti-Stolitz people criticize Vivzie for liking and reblogging Stolitzo art cuz ‘How dare she reblog beautiful artwork that fans worked really hard on!’. I’m personally hoping that the two of them work through their issues and become to couple the fans deserve.

Ahh, now see, I don’t think Kind Stolas was grooming him at all, and I actually think it’s kind of weird that people would think he was, simply because the Instagrams strongly implied they were already having sex. Then!Stolas was wearing a vibrator that Blitzo felt comfortable enough activating, and Blitzo chimed in at one point to let someone know that “Hey, I top HIM!”, which doesn’t make sense if their affair was “It was one time,” followed by Stolas insisting on more times if Blitzo wants to keep the book.

Occam’s Razor and all that, and I feel like it’s pretty clear what was going on with the Instagrams…they were non-canon side bits used to drum up interest for the shows, but they used official art and were still “official” sources, so they weren’t pure fanon either. So a lot of people assumed they were canon (guilty!) or still treat them as canon to this day, and cite them on TVTropes and in arguments and analysis, and then they pivoted characterizations to be closer to the show, and now it’s a flaming mess.

(Another ship that was in danger of this was Huskerdust; they were interacting a lot around the same time and people were picking through their reactions, comparing the healthiness of their relationship to Stolas and Blitzo’s then-very respectful one, just all kinds of stuff.)

So…yeah. It’s now a clusterfuck of conflicting things.

All that said, present day Stolitz has landed its way on my notp pile and yeah, I’ll admit it, I wish Vivzie didn’t reblog cute art of them. I wish they got the Angel/Valentino treatment, where people ship and draw them but there’s a pretty unanimous understanding that their relationship is fucked to high heaven. Given the ship’s complicated history, I don’t think that’s ever going to happen.

But! But! Vivzie can do what she wants (maybe she knows something we don’t, either way it’s much too early in the game to have That Talk about creators who openly condone bad things) and people can do what they want and no one knows what anyone gets out of a ship, and we all need to curate our own experiences.

I just wish they’d either retire the blogs or give Insta!Blitzo the same teeth he has in the show. It’s sad to watch him just quietly take it.
