I'm not dead and neither are my ask blogs. Guess I've been really lazy with reblogs and posting. Well here's something that'll probably get me a bit hated but eh as a writer, to express other works through those eyes, is exactly inspiring.
Anyway, I've been rereading Eidos and holy fuck they need help with being like more creative and have a better flow with their characters and lewdness. Each character outside of sex is really interesting, though. The best that are actually developed well are; Leon, Gaia, Kafka, Hellion, the shadow kings (Jade, Bez, and Azmond (so far)), Equus, Barlitz, Armory, Baskar, Rothart, Rougaro, Morgan, and Corca. Like they're actually well made and help with either creating flow, the reader's pov, or comedy relief. It just makes them feel like they're actual characters and not just, "let's put them together and bang and see what happens".
Granted I'm only on the Summer night event now but I'll probably do more later on.
Sure yeah there's still a lot of issues with the game and problems that turn people away and I'm not being like "oh this is the best thing since sliced bread and there's more to it." I just rather express my side of it as a writer and appreciate the characters more than what a lot of people see them as.
But yeah, it needs a lot better flow and just an actual plot that isn't like "The world's most prized catch gets caught."
Also I'll throw Bal in that list above, sure he's not like the best person but like, he does care about Gaia even if it's for his Eidos or not and he does help drive what little plot there is for each chapter being against it but in hindsight, enjoys seeing Gaia grow as his own person and learn how to use his own magic.

I might be working on one of the saddest zoyalai fics I’ve come up with and it’s taking me a while to get written.
But damn if I pull this off, I might be the one who ends up in tears

Rereading my detail bank, aka the scrap document where miscellaneous ideas are stored for later use.
The "Plots" category includes this bulletpoint;
Molten spiders everywhere!
Thank you, past me. That is a vivid, fascinating image that you have jotted down. Very much not a plot though.

i do unironically think the best artists of our generation are posting to get 20 notes and 3 reblogs btw. that fanfic with like 45 kudos is some of the best stuff ever written. those OCs you carry around have some of the richest backstories and worldbuilding someone has ever seen. please do not think that reaching only a few people when you post means your art isn't worth celebrating.

I'm moving all of the fics I wrote under my original username to my more popular username, and I'm going through and cleaning them up bit by bit before I make the final switch, and I'm having a BLAST. They're not terribly well-written, they're chock-full of Mary Sues, and they were written at a time before I was a Destiel shipper (which is hilarious to look back on now), but they're funny and cute and dumb and I'm really reminded that writing should be fun, and reading should be fun, and I need to unclench sometimes.

thinking about how the extra area added on to a pacifist run of undertale, the true lab, is about alphys's past mistakes. how it ends with the story reaffirming that, despite the pain she's caused, the thing that matters is that she has now made the choice to do the right thing. she's still worthy of her friends' love.
thinking about how undertale doesn't expect the player to get a pacifist ending for the first time. how it's more likely than not that the player will kill toriel the first time they battle her, how lots of players don't initially figure out how to end undyne's fight without killing her, etc. what it expects — not even expects, really, but hopes — is that the player, if they care enough, will use their canonically acknowledged power over time to make up for those mistakes.
no matter how many neutral runs a player has done before committing to the pacifist run, the thing that matters to the characters, to the story, is that you've chosen, now, to do the right thing.
compared to alphys, the player honestly gets off lightly, in that you're the only one (other than flowey) who really remembers any harm you might have caused. and any direct guilting the game could have done about it is long past at this point. instead, as undertale often does, it makes its point via parallels: alphys caused harm, and she knows it. she has committed to being better. in doing so, she has unlocked for herself a better ending to her story. and she deserves it. she's forgiven.
those structural narrative parallels are all over undertale, if you know where to look. and that's one of the things that makes it so fuckin' good.

Laois from Dungeon Meshi legit feels like someone said the generic blond main character guy in a fantasy story can never actually be an interesting character in his own right and Ryoko Kui went, “Oh, bet?”

john price is a loving man. john price is also a man who loves holding you in his arms, fight me if i'm wrong. since he's usually away from home for weeks, even months at a time, whenever he comes home; he drops to his knees and buries his face in ur tummy to hug u, all while ur hands run through the soft tufts of his hair.
john price, even after fucking u like an animal in heat, thick cock bruising ur cervix, and having his skilled tongue pull orgasm after orgasm from u, is a touchy man. he pulls u into his chest and asks softly about the things that have happened since he's been gone, thick fingers brushing through ur hair. he's particularly fond of ur newfound dislike for the next-door neighbor.
