✩ ✩ ✩
“You’ll be okay,” James said, squeezing your hand.
“Oh, they’ll love you, Y/N,” Sirius said, bouncing excitedly on the balls of his feet. “I mean, they love me, so how could they not like you?”
“We really should’ve stopped him from drinking so many cups of coffee,” you whispered to James as Sirius ran ahead. James laughed.
“This is just how he gets every time he comes home,” James said, his breath fogging in front of him as he chuckled. “It’s just up here a little farther.” He pointed to a large brick house just up the road. It was beautiful, really. Big uniform windows with white shutters all had wreaths and green tinsel lining them. The wall lining the property was decorated with glowing Christmas lights strung across the entire perimeter. It looked like a house straight out of a muggle Christmas movie.
The three of you had stopped in town after arriving via train from Kings Cross. You hated traveling by floo powder and Sirius really wanted to ride on a muggle train, so James arranged for the three of you to take one up from London. While there, you made James go with you to find a present to thank his parents for letting you stay for the holiday. If it hadn’t been such a last minute decision, you would’ve gone to Hogsmeade, but now you were stuck with the set of candles you bought from a local shop.
“James,” you whispered as Sirius got to the gate in front of the house, swinging it open and rushing to the door. James recognized your tone and stopped walking. “I can’t.” Your heart was pounding so hard in your chest you could barely think, only feeling the intense fear that only grew as you approached the gate.
He reached out and places his hands on your upper arms, rubbing up and down to create minimal heat in the fridge temperatures.
“Oh, darling,” he said, seeing the look of utter dread on your face. “It’s going to be alright, you're going to be alright.” Your breathing picked up and your hands holding the wrapped box began to shake. “Hey, hey, hey,” he said, reaching up to cup your face.
“Sirius! Come in, darling,” you heard the voice of a woman carry across the empty yard of the house and over the short wall you were in front of. You let out a choked sob as your fears intensified. James looked over to his mum who was standing in the door watching the two of you. He gave her a small nod and she understood, shutting the door.
“You talk the same,” you said, still shaking and breathing heavily, but laughing lightly. You were trying to find anything to distract yourself. “I guess that’s why you say ‘darling’ so much.” James chuckled, his gloved hands still on your face. Tears were forming in your eyes, but at least you were smiling.
“We can walk around more if you’d like?” James offered, tucking a free piece of hair behind your ear. “No rush.” You shook your head.
“Just need a minute.” You leaned into his touch, trying to focus your breathing back. James took deep breaths with you, his shoulders moving up and down dramatically as he did so.
“Tell me the schedule again?” you asked, closing your eyes.
“Tonight we’ll have dinner- I think I can smell it already- and then us and Sirius can do whatever we want,” James said, moving his hands down again to create friction on your arms. “Then tomorrow, Peter, Remus, Lily, and Marlene are coming over for Christmas Eve. We’ll go into town, have lunch, and then come back home for dinner with mum and dad again. And on Christmas, we’ll have breakfast and open presents, of course, and then the rest of the day we have to ourselves.” You smiled, eyes still closed but breathing now steady.
James pressed a kiss to your cheek and you grinned wider, opening your eyes to see his own boyish grin.
“We can take that walk still,” he offered, squeezing your shoulder.
“No,” you said, still a little shaky. “I’m ready.” He smiled, taking your hand again and rubbing small circles on the back of your hand with his thumb.
As soon as you got relatively close to the door, it swung open, Euphemia Potter standing in the doorway.
“Hello! Goodness, Jamie, your girlfriend is going to freeze!” she chittered off, wiping her hands on the apron she was wearing. “Y/N, dear, it’s lovely to meet you finally.” You smiled shyly, squeezing James’ hand harder as you began making your way up the front steps. Euphemia smiled brightly at you- her smile alone almost putting you at ease.
“It’s lovely to-“ You were cut off by a crash in the kitchen.
“Monty! What did I say about picking up the pans before they cool!” Euphemia shouted, turning and rushing back into the house. It was more of a scolding than a shout, like how a mother would instruct her child as opposed to a lovers quarrel.
James turned to you to gauge your reaction, but all you could do was laugh. You made your way inside, taking off your shoes and jacket. Stepping into the house warmed you up almost immediately to the point where your cheeks flushed from the sudden temperature change.
“We’re in here, darlings!” Euphemia yelled from further inside the house. You smiled cheekily at James, grabbing his hand as he led you to the kitchen.
Sirius was already there, sneaking food off what appeared to be a plate of decorated cookies. Euphemia was at the sink with an older man, Fleamont Potter, cleaning off a fresh burn on his hand.
“Ah, you must be Y/N!” Monty said, smiling widely at the girl. He had James’ smile. “I’ve heard a lot about you!” You squeezed James’ hand tightly before responding.
“It’s lovely to meet you,” you said quietly. You were still so nervous about saying the wrong thing.
“James just never seems to shut up about you!” Monty continued as his wife remained cleaning up his hand. “His letter go on and on-“
“Dad!” James cut him off, blushing a deep shade of scarlet. You couldn’t help but laugh, bringing a hand to cover your mouth. “Don’t laugh at me!” James said, laughing too as he poked your side. “It’s not my fault you’re so intoxicating I can’t help but think of you at all times.” You and Sirius both pretended to gag at the same time, causing James and his parents to laugh. You suddenly remember the colorfully wrap box in your hands.
“Oh, uhm, James and I- we picked you up a present in town,” you said, stumbling over your words. James grabbed your hand again, running his thumb over your knuckles. “As a thank you, for letting me stay.”
“Oh, how lovely, you’re welcome any time, sweetheart,” Euphemia said, finally dropping Monty’s hand. She came over to you and took the present out of your hands. “Monty, dear, would you put this under the tree?” Monty nodded, quickly rushing off.
“James, dearie, could you take the potatoes out of the oven,” Euphemia asked, going back to tending to the dinner she was preparing now that she was done with Monty’s burn. “Oh, Y/N, sit, darling, relax.”
You complied, finding a spot next to Sirius- who was still sneaking cookies- and watching as James began helping his mother cook.
“He is really crazy about you, y’know,” Sirius said, wiping frosting and crumbs off of his face. You stared at him, deadpan. He was messing with you, you assumed. “I’m serious!”
“No, I’m Sirius,” you mocked his usual line.
“Ha-ha,” he said, rolling his eyes. “But, like actually, when you started dating, he would not talk about anything else- ever! He was totally mad.” You blushed, squeezing your hands in your lap.
“Sirius, would you set the table for me, dear?” Euphemia asked, taking her final dish out of the oven.
“What happened to relaxing?” he groaned, dragging himself out of his seat nonetheless. Euphemia tutted.
“I told Y/N to relax,” she said, shaking her head amusedly. “You decided to relax and eat all the Christmas cookies I made for your friends tomorrow!”
“Oh, you love me, Ef,” Sirius said, beginning to pass out plates.
“Here, I’ll help,” you said, grabbing a handful of silverware.
“No, no, darling, sit down,” Euphemia insisted.
“Really, it’s fine,” you said, blushing.
“James, tell your girlfriend that she is our guest and we insist she not do any chores while she’s staying here,” she said, turning to her son. James started towards you, a big grin plastered on his face.
“No, James, it’s really-“ he cut you off with a small kiss, taking your moment of distraction to pry the forks you were holding out of your hand.
“You heard the woman,” he said, pushing on your shoulders and forcing you back into your seat. You bit your tongue to keep yourself from laughing as you glared up at James. “Aw, don’t give me that look,” he grumbled sarcastically, kissing your nose before returning to the kitchen with his mother.
The dinner was out soon enough, and you were sat next to James with Euphemia on your right at the head of the table, Monty across from you, and Sirius across from James. Conversation flowed comfortably, even if you only added in when James prompted you.
“So, Y/N, James tells me you’re a Ballycastle fan, aren’t ya?” Monty asked, looking up at you with a grin. You nodded, quickly trying to finish chewing your food. James squeezed your thigh under the table. “Bah, didn’t you think that last minute call the other night-“
“-was total bull!” you finished for him, the two of you laughing. James chuckled.
“No, no, you Bats fans are just sore losers,” James said, his smile matching his father’s.
“Says the Puddle Dud,” Sirius spoke up, causing the table to burst out laughing.
“Hey, how many European Cups have the Bats won again?” James feigned curiosity.
“Oh, okay, you want to bring up the Euro Cup then? When the Magpies have won just as many?” Sirius said. James’ hand was no longer on your leg and was now waving wildly in the air as his and Sirius’ debate became more heated.
“Alright, boys,” Euphemia said, immediately halting the argument.
“I just don’t know how you live with him, Ef,” Sirius said, exasperated. “I mean, he likes the most overrated team in the league!”
“You live with me too now, y’know,” James said, glaring at him. Sirius looked up with a stoic look on his face.
“Effy, Monty, I think it’s time we’ve had a real conversation about James moving out,” Sirius said, putting down his silverware.
“Enough,” Euphemia said, laughing at their antics. “You boys are too much.” Sirius and James ended their short scuffle with childish tongues stuck out at each other.
“James,” you said, putting a hand on his arm. He immediately stopped and turned to you.
“Sorry,” he said quickly.
“She’s got you wrapped around her finger, doesn’t she now?” Euphemia said, smiling as she took a sip of her sparkling drink.
“You don’t know the half of it,” Sirius said, returning to his meal. “The boy is whipped.”

Yeah, yeah. The marauders loved Halloween. We know. But you know what holiday James goes absolutely BONKERS for? Christmas. That man starts playing Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want for Christmas is You’ the instant the clock strikes midnight on November First. He’s got his Christmas tree picked out that weekend. The house is filled with the scent of gingerbread for two months out of the year. He spent the better part of five years perfecting his tumbprint cookies recipe. He’s had all of his friends Christmas gifts picked out since July. He fucking loves Christmas.

4th Advent - Celebrating Christmas with the marauders
Tumblr media
Masterlists Pairing: Poly!marauders x reader (James x Sirius x Remus x you) Warnings: Christmas(?) otherwise, none Wordcount: 1190 Summary: Celebrating Christmas with the marauders, opening presents and cuddling.
Tumblr media
“Merry Christmas, love!” James caught you in his arms just before you took the last step down the stairs. He picked you and spun you around before pressing a sweet kiss to your lips. You buried your hands in his hair and enjoyed the warmth he spread throughout your body and the feeling of his gentle lips against yours. You eventually pulled away and settled for burying your face against his neck, holding him close. James let out a long sight and you felt him relax against you.
Soon Sirius and Remus came down the stairs too. Sirius joined the hug while Remus settled for a peck on each of your lips before heading into the kitchen to get started on breakfast. You, James and Sirius soon joined him, putting on tea and coffee, baking some scones and setting the table. When everything was put on the table you all sat down and enjoyed breakfast. It was a cozy Christmas morning with snow falling outside the windows. You caught Remus' loving gaze from over his steaming cup of tea and you watched with love how James happily made everyone’s scones just as you all like it.
“Here you go, love,” James placed your plate with a scone on it in front of you and you smiled in thanks. Sirius had already finished his breakfast when the rest of you were halfway done so he started to put away the things you didn’t want and he did the dishes he could. The rest of you were done at the same time and you all helped Sirius with the rest of the kitchen cleaning that was left. Then James pulled you all away to the living room where the christmas tree stood with all the presents underneath. You all sat down around the tree, taking turns in giving out your presents to each other. Sirius insisted on going first.
“I just want to see your reaction to it,” he laughed as he gave it to you.
“Should I be scared?” you joked but took the present nonetheless and began peeling the paper off. Inside was a book with golden text on the cover. ‘My heart in a book’ it read and when you flipped it open you were met with pages and pages of pictures of the four of you along with small notes and letters he’d written you. Tears gathered in your eyes and you flung yourself into the arm of Sirius Black and  you never wanted to let go.
“I take it you like it?” His words were muffled by your hair but you nodded and hugged him a bit tighter if that was even possible. You knew he’d given books like that to Remus and James but they’d been together far longer than you had and you knew that these books were a big thing for Sirius.
“Thank you. So much. I love you, you know?” You pressed a kiss to the side of his head and Sirius nodded an answer. “Yeah, I know. I love you too.” You both pulled away from each other and you sat down on your previous spot.
“Remus, my first one’s for you,” you plucked it from the pile and handed it over to him. YYou’d gotten him a new journal since you’d noticed his was starting to run out of empty pages. He almost never showed any of you what he wrote in it but you knew it meant a lot to him so you’d gotten him a custom made one with your animal’s footprints on the cover. He smiled at the thoughtful gift, pressed a gentle kiss to your forehead and thanked you sincerely. You smiled at him and mumbled an “of course” in return.
Remus went next and gave a present to James who smiled a broad smile and tore open the paper. Inside was a book with his mom’s recipes. James’ parents had both passed not even a year ago and you all knew James missed them terribly. He’d also recently gotten into cooking more so this present was from all of you. You’d all helped gather the recipes and Sirius had written them down since his penmanship was the best out of the three of you. You and Remus had bound the book together and you’d painted small pictures for every page.
James flipped through it and tears started to fall from his eyes when he saw what it was. You were first to gather him up in your arms and he wrapped his arms around you, pulling you into him and he started thanking all of you immensely for the gift. He gathered himself again and you gently dried the tears from his cheeks. He gave you a thankful but weak smile.
“Phew, okay. Let’s get on with it,” he laughed through the tears and pulled out another present from under the tree. “This one’s for you, Pads.”
Sirius took it from him and opened it with great care. James had gifted him a camera and a light lit up in Sirius’ eyes when he saw what it was. He’d been talking about getting into photography for almost half a year but he’d never gotten the time to even get himself a camera.
“Thank you, Prongs! This is perfect!” His smile was wide and you couldn’t help but smile with him at the sight of him so happy. He stood up and backed away a bit, raising the camera to his eyes.
“Can you three scoot a bit closer together? I need my first photo to be of you three.”
You saw how Remus practically melted at his comment but did as he was asked and pulled you into his side. You dragged James with you so you were pressed between them. Sirius counted and on three you all smiled lovingly and Sirius captured it. He looked at it for a while, still smiling like crazy.
“It will probably be the most beautiful photo I’ll ever take,” he mumbled. At that James got up and kissed him.
When you all had settled down again you gave out the rest of the presents. You’d gotten Sirius a new pair of earrings too and Remus gifted him a roll of empty film for when the first one in the camera got full. James and Remus had gotten you new paint and a new sketchbook. James got some other kitchen supplies and a new blanket. Sirius got Remus a pair of knitted jumpers and a pack of fluffy socks. When all the presents were opened you gathered the present paper and threw it away, cleaning up after yourselves and then settled down in a cuddling heap on the couch.
Remus made all of you hot chocolate and Sirius put on a movie. Snow was still falling outside the windows when you let yourself fall into Sirius’ arms, letting your feet rest in James’ lap and Remus snuggled into James’ side, holding his cup in his sweater clad hands. It wasn’t a very luxurious Christmas day but it was spent with your favorite people so what more could you ask for?

Have you ever wanted to read a fic that is literally the plot of some hallmark movie? If so, let me introduce you to In My Heart Is A Christmas Tree Farm by wildflowergirlie!
Basically, James Potters own a (you guessed it) Christmas tree farm! But a struggling one. Regulus Black, mostly his family, want that farm for themselves, so the two businesses make an…interesting deal that ends with both of them thinking that they will get the farm
Sirius hires a lawyer to represent them—meet Remus Lupin, the incredibly attractive lawyer Sirius meets and then hires.
Lots of Christmas vibes, fluff, etc so it should get you right in the holiday mood! I’ll try to update every Tuesday and every other Saturday or so but no promises lol.
If you’re interested, here’s the link; enjoy! It’s currently unfinished (duh) but the last chapter drops Christmas morning (hopefully) <33

Christmas isn't the same without you
Tumblr media
WOLFSTAR ANGST. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
SUMMARY: After "The Prank", Christmas is near, and Sirius wants to truly apologize before leaving to the Potters, but the last thing Remus wants to hear are his apologies.
⋆˖⁺‧₊☽◯☾₊‧⁺˖⋆
Sirius felt dreadful. Every inch of happiness had left his soul since Remus wasn't talking to him. He knew it was his fault, but he still felt like Remus had to listen to him, at least once.
Christmas was near, and after ´The Prank´ that costed all of Sirius's joyness and Remus's confidence on him, he didn't feel like celebrating. At all.
James tried talking to Sirius, to cheer him up at least, but nothing seemed to work. He also tried talking to Remus, but he would refuse to talk about it and changed topics abruptly. It was tiring, and in the end, almost everyones Christmas Spirit was gone.
They were five days appart from the holiday, and every student was leaving Hogwarts to back to their homes. James had asked Sirius and Remus, of course, but the latter declined his offer politely, saying that he didn't feel like going with the full moon coming the 24th. But James knew the actual reason really well. He knew that Remus couldn't even bother to look at Sirius in the eyes without feeling full of rage and anger, after his friend had betrayed him.
Sirius, of course, accepted. Anything was better than going back to his family and getting the usual "family time", which included lots of insults and pain everywhere. And, even if Sirius felt like shit for the last couple of weeks, he couldn't refuse to see the Potters.
Just before leaving Hogwarts, Sirius tried talking to Remus. He wanted more than anything for things to go back to normal, so he acted like everything was alright.
"Hey Moony! How are you?" Sirius said with his usual confident tone. Remus just looked at him dead in the eye without making a sound. And that was the worst thing he could do to Sirius.
"I know you are mad, but please at least talk to me, insult me or even shout at me if you want, anything is better than the silence." Sirius pleaded feeling the most vulnerable ever.
"Don't ´Moony´ me, Sirius." That was all Remus said. And in that moment, all Sirius felt was the lack of friendlyness in Remus's voice. He felt like a complete stranger, like they've never met before.
"Sorry, Remus." It didn't feel right. It sounded distant, and Sirius hated it.
"You know, we could come back here for your transformation if you'd like. We don't want you going through this alone, and even less in Christmas time." Sirius added hoping that Remus would at least think twice before turning down his offer.
"Oh, so that's why you decided to bring fucking Snape to the last full moon, aye? You didn't think that i had enough fucking people around, did you? No thanks, I think I'm better on my own, Black."
That was it. Sirius took the hint and felt incredibly alone without Remus's jokes or laugh. He just wanted his Moony back. He didn't want to be called Black, he just whished to be Padfoot again.
"Remus, I know I really fucked up and I feel like shit every day because of it. I can't sleep, eat, hell, I can't even think straight. It's tiring and I just want us to back to normal. I just want us to be ourselves again. I'm so sorry. I need my friend back."
Remus cringed at the word that Sirius used. He didn't want to be Sirius's friend, he wanted nothing else than to kiss him everywhere, but that wasn't right. Because Sirius had back-stabbed him, and he wasn't supposed to love someone that played with fire, or his feelings.
"I think it's too late for that. Have a nice Christmas." And with that, Remus left. He walked as fast as he could and hid under his covers. He already had Sirius's gift. He had bought him a muggle chocolate and wrote down a few songs that Sirius might like. But that didn't matter anymore, because Sirius wasn't getting any gift from him and neither his attention.
Sirius just saw Remus leave and wished he could go after him and show him how much he cares about him, but he couldn't. He wasn't as brave as James or as smart as Lily or as creative as Remus. He was just Sirius, the one that always fucked things up.
It was time to get in the train, and while James talked to Sirius about quidditch and random stuff trying to get his mind somewhere else more that Remus, Sirius just stared out of space, trying to figure out how Christmas or even life when he came back to Hogwarts, in a few weeks, would be. He wanted to ask James how he always managed to make everyone feel happy and the reason why he couldn't be like him. But no words left his mouth because saying it out loud would mean that something was wrong with him, and even if it was, he didn't want to feel lost. Not again.
When they arrived to the Potters, Effie recieved her son and Sirius with a huge hug, one that he needed. She already had dinner ready and Sirius felt happy, at least for a bit of time. Being with the Potters was home, and he loved that feeling, but something was missing. Remus fucking Lupin.
That night, the only thing Sirius could think about was how Remus was going to spend the full moon alone, and his heart shattered. He wanted to be there for him, even if he hated him. He wanted that more than anything in the world. He wanted to run with the werewolf at night, and in the morning, hug him and tell him that he was beautiful. That he is beautiful, even if he was covered in scars.
During those long nights, all Sirius dreamt about was the moon.
Soon enough, Christmas rolled around and Sirius smiled politely at everyone on the house and thanked everyone for the gifts. He was hoping that one of them would be from Remus, but it never came. He had Remus's gift wraped and ready to send, but he needed to write a letter first. And so he did. He attached the gift with the card onto the Owl's leg and sent it over to Remus. Sirius didn't feel like celebrating, but he still did, hoping that Remus would be doing the same.
Remus had recieved lots of gifts from his friends and even Madam Pomfrey, who had helped him during the full moon. He felt weak, and it was because of his transformation and partly because of his sadness. He wanted to be ok with Sirius again, but it wasn't fair for him. He needed to get over it at his own time, even if it took years. Eventually, he would listen to what the other boy had to say, but he wasn't ready now.
The thing that Remus least expected from that day was Sirius's gift piled with the rest. He didn't feel like opening it, knowing that it would be easy to get excited over something Sirius bought thinking of him.
Remus opened everyone else's gifts, writing "Thank you letters" to send later. He swore that he wouldn't open Sirius's gift, but curiosity took the best of him and so he did. He unwrapped the big box and saw some new records. He instantly wanted to play them, but Sirius had took his record player, so he woud have to wait till he came back. And then, he saw a red and green envelope with a letter inside. He opened it and saw Sirius's perfect and neat handwriting.
Christmas isn't the same without magic, without you. Love, -Sirius O. Black.
All Remus felt was anger towards Sirius, and toward himself because he fell in love with the boy who makes his heart feel absolutely full, but also has the power to destroy it with a simple look. And maybe that's what love feels like and maybe he shouldn't be scared of it, but that's how Remus is. He wanted to shout and to cry and to kiss every inch of Sirius's soul. But he couldn't, and so he burnt the letter, because love wasn't something he was supposed to feel, and neither was Sirius Black for him to have.
1381 words.
SORRY IF I MADE ANY MISTAKE WHILE WRITING, ENGLISH IS NOT MY FIRST LANGUAGE.
Hope you enjoyed a little bit of wolfstar angst. ;)

Tis The Season
Two: Magic
Pandora drags Regulus to a Christmas market... Regulus who hates Christmas
“It all looks so pretty!” Pandora practically cooed it as she dragged her best friend into the Christmas market in town. Dragged being the correct word, he was all but clawing at her to make their journey stop. It was no secret that he hated the season, but he’d agreed to spend the day with her and she needed to find a present for Evan. He was the only one she hadn’t found something for and if he won their yearly contest, she’d have to admit he was the better twin. And that was never happening again.
“Yes, yes, very nice. Why couldn’t you order your present online like everyone else?”
“Because shopping for it is half the fun! Come on, Reginald! Your fiance is the biggest Christmas fan in the world, you could at least try not to scowl at every part of it. Try to enjoy it!”
“What is there to enjoy? The crappy songs? The capitalist-driven consumer driven splurges disguised as bonding? The awful movies which all look the exact same? The bloody sprouts? The ugly jumpers? The-”
“The magic of it, Reg!”
He scoffed and crossed his arms over his chest, “what magic?”
“All of it!”
Regulus sighed and gloomily trudged behind her as she pranced around each stall, oooing and ahhing every now and then. He glanced up occasionally and he had to admit some of the handmade pieces were beautiful, but it didn’t brighten his mood all that much. He liked winter, he did, just not the festivities which suffocated him during it. His brother seemed to have found a love for it, he’d even learned the dance from Mean Girls, which had admittedly scarred him for life. Remus was neither for or against the holiday which made him… somewhat bearable. He was however a sucker when it came to Sirius, which meant their small cottage became an assault to the senses, cinnamon mixed with cranberries and a constant flow of laughter and joy. The nerve of some people.
And then there was James. Stupidly perfect James, who of course had one fatal flaw. He adored Christmas. And Regulus? Well Regulus’ fatal flaw was James. So their house was coated in stupid tinsel and red and green and gold and a sprinkling of cheer from midnight on December first. Didn’t mean he liked it.
“Reg! Reg, look! Oh, it’s perfect!”
He looked over at her gleeful beckoning, at a small, ornate charm. It was of a holly leaf but didn’t seem absurdly Christmas orientated. It wouldn’t ruin the charm bracelet Evan had had for almost a decade now. Barty had found it in his mum’s old jewellery box and given it to his boyfriend and he hadn’t taken it off since. It was getting quite full now, a sprinkling of charms for different occasions and some just when the moment struck - he had one of a cactus and no one quite understood why.
“It’s gorgeous, Panda, it’ll go perfectly with the socks and book.”
“You think? Ooo, look there’s matching cufflinks. Do you think Barty would absolutely kill me if I got them for me?”
Reg laughed softly and shrugged, “considering he hates having to wear a suit to work, perhaps.”
“But they’re precious!”
“Get them, love, Ev wouldn’t let him kill you anyway. And we both know he’s whipped.”
She beamed at him before talking to the artist animatedly. He let her voice waft over him as he stared out at the people milling around, bundled up in their gloves and scarfs, woolly hats on giggling childrens’ heads. Hands were clasped around warm drinks, heads of couples bent together, their breath visible in the cool air as they muttered words. He supposed there could be a kind of beauty in the joy found in Christmas. The smiling faces and rosy cheeks, the way every word of the shivering carollers was tinted with a grin. Maybe he would like Christmas, if he wasn’t such a stubborn git.
“Okay! Where d’you want to go next?”
“Home?”
“Reg.”
He sighed and raised his hands in surrender, “tell me where we’re going then.”
Pandora grinned at him and tugged on his arm, leading him through the crowds to a small stall he hadn’t noticed on their initial loop around. It was covered in blank baubles and little containers of paint. “Can we, pretty please? The answer’s yes.”
He sighed, it’s not like he’d ever actually been very good at telling his best friend no, “I’ll watch.”
“He’ll paint.” The blonde said brightly to the man standing with a paint stained apron and a steaming mug between his gloved hands.
Regulus sat on the chair he was led to and stared at the bauble in front of him. His best friend had already started painting, chattering excitedly to the seller. He contemplated if she’d notice him darting away, but just as he’d concluded she would, his phone rang. He smiled at the screen as the name flashed up, “hi, mon amour.”
“Reggie! Where are you? I brought home dinner.”
He checked his watch and cursed under his breath, “I’m with Dora, she’s dragged me to this blasted market. I’m meant to be painting a bauble.”
James’ laugh trickled down the line and he had to force back a lovesick grin, “I’ll save you a plate, sweetheart. What’re going to paint?”
“Not the foggiest idea.”
“Hmm, what about a deer?”
“You’re biassed.”
“Just a little. Paint whatever you want, my love, it’s going front and centre whatever it is.”
Reg blushed and looked down at the white ball, “it is?”
“Of course, angel, you’re painting it.”
And there it was, alongside the butterflies soaring through his stomach, magic.

what christmas means to me (my love)
remus lupin x reader
type: fluff
word count: 1.0k
summary: spending a quiet christmas eve with the marauders at hogwarts
marauders masterlist
✩ ✩ ✩
“Ah, bugger,” James said as you moved your rook to a position to take his king.
“Check,” you said, smirking as you leaned back against Remus’ legs.
He had taken up a spot behind you on the couch when you and James had decided to take your chess match to the floor in front of the fire. As James’ eyes scanned the board in front of him, you leaned your head back so it was resting on Remus’ knee to look up at him. He dog eared the page he was on in the book you’d given him- something you’d ultimately scold him for later when he return it to you- and placed a hand on your cheek that was rosy from the fire.
“Damnit, Y/N,” James said, knocking over his king and causing it to roll onto the floor. He quickly started gathering up all the pieces- as you two agreed the loser of the game had to do- as you moved up to sit on the sofa besides Remus. Or more like on him.
You rested most of your upper body on him, your legs off to the side near where Sirius was sitting. He wrapped his arms around you, an intense feeling of comfort spreading through your body.
The full moon this year had unfortunately landed on Christmas day, so you and the other marauders had agreed to stay back at Hogwarts with Remus to get him through the night and go to James’ house after he was fixed up the next morning. You had the castle pretty much to yourselves aside from a few people here and there and the house elves. You all had spent most of the first day pent up inside due to the weather being too harsh to even go through the more open parts of the school, but today had been spent almost entirely outside playing in the snow.
James and Sirius tried to start one too many unsuccessful snow ball fights before you, Remus, and Peter finally gave in and started throwing back. It ended once Remus shoved a pile of snow down Sirius’ back and Sirius, like the big baby he is, decided the game was over. The grass next to the Black Lake was now almost entirely covered in snowmen, some who shared some uncanny likenesses to professors and students at the school (Sirius had rushed to the library after getting warmed up in hopes of finding a charm that could keep the snow from melting so he could show everyone his Snivellus snowman, complete with slimy seaweed from the lake as hair). By the time the sun was setting and the bell for dinner sounded across the grounds, your hair was wet from snow and sticking to your neck and face and your cheeks were flushed a deep shade of red. Madam Pomfrey had tutted at the lot of you when she passed your snow-covered figures in the corridor, scolding Remus about not spending the day resting.
You were much warmer now, though, and your heart couldn’t help but be filled completely with love as you looked around at your best friends. Sirius was messing around with the record player they’d set up on a side table that was quietly playing A Motown Christmas as everyone talked. James was discussing the upcoming Quidditch matches of the new year with Peter as he settled himself back on the floor across from him.
Remus’ hand gently ran through your hair as you pressed the side of your face into his soft red sweater.
“I love you,” you mumbled into the fabric. “So, so much.” He chuckled lightly, his lips coming down to meet the top of your head.
“I love you so, so much more,” he said cheekily. You rolled your eyes and opened your mouth to speak again but he stopped you with his lips.
“Get a room, you two,” Sirius said, pretending to gag as he spoke. You smiled into Remus’ lips and the two of you pulled away, you sitting up fully.
Candles burning low, lots of mistletoe
You gasp, jumping up and grabbing Remus’s hand.
“I love this song,” you said, pulling him up as the beat picked up slightly. You spun yourself around, earning a laugh from Remus. “Come on,” you said, grabbing his hands and making him dance with you. James soon joined you, needing no persuading.
That’s what Christmas means to me, my love
You danced your way over to Sirius, yanking him up by his arms.
“Come on, Scrooge McDuck, it’s Christmas,” you said, forcing Sirius to join the rest of you. Remus laughed at your somewhat silly and naive pop-culture reference. He really should’ve explained to you where the old cartoon he’d shown you actually came from. James pulled Peter up from the ground and he quickly complied.
Kiss you once and then some more
And wish you a Merry Christmas, baby
You grabbed James’ hand and spun him around. You took Peter by the shoulders and pulled him around as you danced wildly to the music playing, swinging your hips and shaking your head, making your hair whip around.
Remus grabbed your waist, pulling you towards him so you were flat against him.
All these things and more, baby
That’s what Christmas means to me, my love
You continued to dance and move around with Remus attached to your back, him moving with you. He kissed your cheek, holding you tight.
Christmas bells are ringing
Christmas choirs are singing
Christmas mistletoe
You turned around, pressing a kiss to his lips. Everything was perfect. No one was thinking about how they’d be spending the next night running around and trying to keep their best friend from hurting himself. They weren’t thinking of the angry howler Sirius’ mother had sent when she found out he wasn’t coming home for Christmas. The rising war tensions weren’t on their mind. Everything was fine. Everything was good.
You pulled away from Remus, pure bliss on your face as the song came to a stop.
“Merry Christmas, Rem.”

I'll be offline for the next few days. Spending the weekend out to celebrate New Years! 🎉
So here's the Marauders holidays headcanons requested by Anon on my tree! Before it's January lol.
James
He LOOOOVES the holidays. So much. Christmas is probably his favourite day of the year. Along with his birthday. Family - and friends, since the Potters kidnap take in all the unfortunate kids - gathering together? Celebrating together? Giving gifts? James is in heaven.
He wouldn't shut up when he found out about Santa's reindeer, either, calling himself Rudolph's distant cousin.
Although he likes receiving gifts, he lives for giving them. And he's amazing at choosing too, you'll always get something big yet meaningful. He'd propose to play secret santa every year but he prefers giving all his friends something instead.
His favourite season is summer and he hates cold, but snow? Snow is an exception. It doesn't matter how old he is, if he sees snow, he will point to it and jump excitedly before running outside (and probably catch a cold).
Sirius
He used to dislike Christmas, or at least not care for it. It was nothing but a facade of pureblood gatherings and fake smiles, behaving like the heir of a family he hated. And there was nearly always some family drama (that part Sirius enjoyed). Him and Reg used to place bets on who would be the first family member to start a fight. It was often Sirius.
When he moved to the Potters, Christmas became a family holiday. A family that wasn't his blood but loved him much more. A family that chose to have him be a part of theirs, even if he wasn't perfect. Even if he was unstable. He didn't dread the holidays anymore.
He isn't as excited as James, but it's close. He loves cooking cookies with Effie, he wasn't allowed to cook in the Black Mannor, as it was seen as a low class activity. Secretly, his favourite part now is receiving gifts. See how others thought of him. Loved him. Especially his new family.
Remus
He enjoys the quiet holidays, not a fan of the parties and loudness. Malls are avoided. People are avoided. He'd much rather sit in an armchair by the fire, curled up with a book. Sip tea. Drink hot chocolate. Listen to the rain. It's calm, peaceful. He never had big Christmas celebrations, it's always been just him and his parents - helping his mom in the kitchen, getting a few humble gifts and watching a movie together if they were lucky. It was perfect.
And of course, the amount of chocolates! When people don't know what give you for Christmas, what to they usually go for? Chocolate. And there's so many different available types during this time! Yep, Lupin enjoyed this festive season.
Except the fact that everything became Christmas-themed. All the songs that play anywhere. Any type of decoration. Fake plastic trees everywhere. But oh well.
Once he hit Sirius in the head with a book because he called his - NORMAL, non-christmas sweater - an "ugly sweater".
Peter
He really likes Christmas, not obsessively like Prongs buuuut he's one of those people that start decorating their house on the November 1st, right after Halloween. His home always has a big tree, fully decorated. Every room smells of baked goods. He decorates gingerbread houses, bakes traditional cakes, makes sugar cookies... It's fun, it's calming, it's delicious!
Poor Pete always gets sick around this time of the year, sensitive to the change of temperature. He will complain about it. Sometimes he's not even sick, but he enjoys being babied and taken care of.
If there's snow, he'll for sure make snow angels and try to make a snowman with his friends, enchanting it afterwards to give it life for a few hours or days until it inevitably melts. And if his friends start a snowball fight... he hides behind a wall of snow or a tree and shoots blindly. He never won the game.

Around Christmas every time James sees a reinDEER he says it's him. He has so many rainDEER decorations and Sirius gets him new ones each year.
