Domestic December Day 14 - Morning Routine
Aether, Mountain, and Dewdrop starting their day.

Coffee and good morning kisses below the cut or on AO3
Aether and Mountain are both early risers. Neither of them are much for sleeping in super late even on days off, and their tasks around the ministry require them to be up early. Mountain heads off to the greenhouse while the morning dew is still dampening the grass, and the never ending paperwork or patient care of the hospital wing is forever calling Aether’s name.
As a result, they are the first ones who are up in the morning. Besides Dewdrop that is. He also rises with the sun but is often less than social, first thing. It’s become something of a routine. Between Mountain and Aether, whoever makes it to the ghoul’s kitchen first will prepare caffeine for the other. They have each other’s drinks memorized; how Mountain likes a tablespoon of honey in his herbal tea and how Aether likes his coffee with milk and nutmeg. When the other wanders in they’ll present the earlier riser with a kiss, the toll for their first dose of caffeine, and gratefully accept the drink.
Then they’ll sit at the table and chat. About the weather, plans for the day, updating each other on the evergoing prank war, or just checking in on each other. They both love it. Putting off the hectic hustle and bustle of the day just a little bit longer. Watching the sun rise through the window over the sink and finding comfort in each other’s presence.
Dewdrop has even started to join them more often of late. On the days he blearily stumbles in after Mountain and Aether are already settled, one of them will guide the sleepy fire ghoul to a chair and the other will present him with coffee. “Black like my soul”, he’ll say when asked for his order. The first and only time Mountain jokingly threatened to just give him a glass of milk, a mug got thrown at his head. Now they just let Dew sip his coffee while conversing amongst themselves until Dew is awake enough to be civil.
All too soon, the sun will begin to light up the sky and Mountain and Aether will reluctantly put their mugs away and part for the morning. Not however, without another kiss or affection head butt. Dew typically responds with an, “Ewww!” or “Blegh, it's too early for you too to be all sappy.” but waits for his gesture of affection from both of them all the same.
Once they head out, Dew may follow, or leave to do his own tasks, but sometimes he’ll wait for Rain or Swiss to stir, both have mastered the art of sleeping in late, and have their caffeine of choice waiting on the counter for them. They’ll both give him a peck on the cheek for his efforts, followed by eye rolls and gagging noises from Dew, but he loves it.

I wake up to the sounds of You
It usually starts with the smell of coffee. The familiar aroma floats in the air, slips under the bedroom door and comes to tickle his nostrils, gently pulling him towards consciousness. The tip of his tongue emerges between his lips in an unconscious gesture, as if to taste the scent around him. His eyes flutter open and it takes a few minutes before they get accustomed to the light that the thin curtains let through, but he can already identify the outlines of his nightstand and the shape of the wardrobe in the corner. He was told that the lack of darkness would help him wake up more easily in the morning, but the fact that it works doesn’t mean he has to like it. 
Zen rolls on his back to stare at the ceiling. The space next to him is empty but still lukewarm, and the sounds he hears coming from the kitchen tells him all he needs to know. He breathes deeply and stares at the ceiling, listening to Hiyori’s footsteps as she runs around, opening and closing cupboards, and his lover’s voice telling her not to run because it’s dangerous and she could get hurt. She says not to worry and that he’s really such a mother, and soon after Zen hears her squeal and laugh and he knows she just received a spray of droplets from the fogger Takafumi usually uses for the plants. Zen smiles because that happened to him too. 
He doesn’t understand what Takafumi says next, but since Hiyori’s footsteps are approaching, he can guess.
There’s a knock at the door before it cracks open to reveal his teenage daughter’s face.
“Dad? It’s time to get up. Onii-Chan made waffles!”
Zen hums that he’ll be there in a minute.
“I’ll tell Onii-Chan,” Hiyori says, “but if you don’t hurry, I’ll give your waffles to Sorata!”
She closes the door and goes back to the kitchen. Zen hears the two of them betting on how many waffles they can eat before he gets out of bed and it makes him want to get up quicker. He sits up, stretches–his joints crack a lot these days but he tries to ignore that–and walks to the wardrobe. Everything is perfectly folded, ironed and arranged by color and weather, with Takafumi’s favorites on top though the man would never admit it. It’s reassuring to know that his lover isn’t done providing him with things to tease him about. 
Zen dresses up in a pair of jeans and a shirt that he knows makes Takafumi look twice, then he leaves the room to join the breakfast table. On his way, he sees Sorata sprawled across Hiyori’s bed, sleeping soundly.
They eat in a lively atmosphere; talking about Hiyori’s current school project and what they have planned for the upcoming weekend–and, yes, Takafumi did look twice. Then Hiyori has to go or she’ll miss the bus. 
Takafumi gets up to help her put the dirty dishes in the sink and soon after they’re both at the door saying their goodbyes. Hiyori shouts “See you tonight, dad! Love you!” to which Zen replies that he loves her too. Soon after, Takafumi is back at the table, sipping his coffee with his face buried into the newspaper.
“You look like an old man when you do that,” Zen teases.
“Says the guy who needs glasses to read a text on his phone,” Takafumi retorts.
Ouch. Zen laughs, and though Takafumi doesn’t, he can see in the wrinkles around his eyes that he’s smiling.
They finish eating while discussing whether or not they should buy a new bicycle for Hiyori’s graduation; after all, she’ll be going to high school next year and her old one is too small for her to cover long distances with.
“Still, I’d rather she took the bus next year too. The school is too far, it’s not safe by bike,” Zen states as he finishes his cup.
A few seconds pass before Takafumi replies, “Maybe we should move closer then.”
Takafumi’s suggestion surprises Zen and he looks up to see that his lover has opened the newspaper in a way that hides his whole face from him. He doesn’t need to ask to understand the implications in Takafumi’s words. He reflects that there have been a few signs already, like Takafumi not saying a word about renewing the lease on his own apartment even though it was coming up in a few weeks, or how he doesn’t insist on sleeping in the guestroom anymore, or simply the fact that he has been staying with them every night for two months straight. He smiles for himself, because he should know by now that Takafumi will always find a way to surprise him. And he’s happy, so happy to be surprised like that.
“Yeah… Yeah, maybe we should. Somewhere with a garden, we could grow vegetables.”
Takafumi lowers his newspaper, “We could. I’ll call a college friend of mine. She’s a real estate agent, I’m sure she’ll find something for us.”
For us, those are words Zen loves to hear; he feels like they bring him luck. Their eyes meet and without another word, the matter is settled.
Once they’re done with breakfast, they clear the table. Takafumi rinses the dishes before giving them to Zen who puts them in the dishwasher, and the silence is comfortable. 
Takafumi has to leave first–an early reunion with some of Emerald’s editors–so they don’t have time for their usual second-coffee-on-the-couch, but it’s okay, there’s still tomorrow and all the days after.
In the entryway, Takafumi reminds him that there’s a bentô for him in the fridge and that he better not find out later that Zen forgot it again. He puts his shoes and coat on, seemingly unfazed by Zen’s gaze on him, before grabbing his suitcase.
“I’m off.” Takafumi declares.
Zen smile widens, “Aren’t you forgetting something?”
Takafumi blushes but steps forward anyway. Zen leans in, hands on his lover’s cheeks as he joins their lips. The kiss is chaste and soft, nothing like the ones they share in the bedroom. This one means something very special, not just ‘I love you’.
It means ‘Wait for me, I’ll be back soon”.

journal entry 1: starting to implement healthy habits in the morning
this morning was a morning for the books! super proud of myself for starting to implement healthy habits to start my day and honestly, i have noticed such a huge improvement in how positive i feel. positive thinking and feeling have been very hard for me to do recently but since starting this blog and following women who are working on themselves too, it has given me a sense of community and purpose.
how my mornings typically go...
wake up without an alarm clock
scroll on my phone for a couple of hours while still being in bed
do my skincare routine maybe 1-2x a week
do my oral hygiene routine later on in the day
get fast food for breakfast
come home
scroll on internet longer looking at motivational things and adding to my pinterest boards
nap
repeat
this morning on the other hand...
immediately woke up from the sound of my alarm and didn't try to go back to sleep
checked my phone but only for a few minutes
did my skincare routine
did my oral hygiene routine
drank a glass of water BEFORE coffee
put less creamer and sugar in my coffee (and it still tasted great!)
read a self-development book for about 45 minutes
did a 10 minute strength workout (10 minutes is better than nothing at all)
now i'm writing this entry
after this, i plan on taking a shower and straightening my hair but i don't feel like putting on makeup-- partially because i have to work tonight and i'm not going anywhere until then. in the future, i would like to work on this.
how i'm feeling because of these small changes:
i feel like i have a sense of purpose. to some of you, my morning routine might just be a standard practice, but i am so proud of myself for how this morning went because i feel amazing, i feel productive, and i feel like i'm starting to feel like a human being instead of a robot. yes these changes are small, but they are changes in the right direction and i am proud of myself for it.
morning routine goals for the future:
complete a longer workout
spend time in faith (quiet time with Jesus)
putting on makeup and getting dressed, even if i'm not going anywhere

Writing tips for long fics that helped me that no one asked for.
1.) Don't actually delete content from your WIP unless it is minor editing - instead cut it and put it in a secondary document. If you're omitting paragraphs of content, dialog, a whole scene you might find a better place for it later and having it readily available can really save time. Sometimes your idea was fantastic, but it just wasn't in the right spot.
2.) Stuck with wording the action? Just write the dialog then revisit it later.
3.) Stuck on the whole scene? Skip it and write the next one.
4.) Write on literally any other color than a white background. It just works. (I use black)
5.) If you have a beta, while they are beta-ing have them read your fic out loud. Yes, I know a lot of betas/writers do not have the luxury of face-timing or have the opportunity to do this due to time constraints etc but reading your fic out loud can catch some very awkward phrasing that otherwise might be missed. If you don't have a beta, you read it out loud to yourself. Throw some passion into your dialog, you might find a better way to word it if it sounds stuffy or weird.
6.) The moment you have an idea, write it down. If you don't have paper or a pen, EMAIL it to yourself or put it in a draft etc etc. I have sent myself dozens of ideas while laying down before sleep that I 10/10 forgot the next morning but had emailed them to myself and got to implement them.
7.) Remember - hits/likes/kudos/comments are not reflective of the quality of your fic or your ability to write. Most people just don't comment - even if they say they do, they don't, even if they preach all day about commenting, they don't, even if they are a very popular blog that passionately reminds people to comment - they don't comment (I know this personally). Even if your fic brought tears to their eyes and it haunted them for weeks and they printed it out and sent it to their friends they just don't comment. You just have to accept it. That being said - comment on the fic you're reading now, just do it, if you're 'shy' and that's why you don't comment the more you comment the better you'll get at it. Just do it.
8.) Remove unrealistic daily word count goals from your routine. I've seen people stress 1500 - 2000 words a day and if they don't reach that they feel like a failure and they get discouraged. This is ridiculous. Write when you can, but remove absurd goals. My average is 500 words a day in combination with a 40 hour a week job and I have written over 200k words from 2022-2023.
9.) There are dozens of ways to do an outline from precise analytical deconstruction that goes scene by scene to the minimalist bullet point list - it doesn't matter which one you use just have some sort of direction. A partial outline is better than no outline.
10.) Write for yourself, not for others. Write the fic you know no one is going to read. Write the fic that sounds ridiculous. You will be so happy you put it out in the world and there will be people who will be glad it exists.

neuvillette is aware that he shouldn’t have let you get so close. but he did, and now he’s lamenting the fact that your hands are grasping at his soft horns — his fucking horns, of all places — and he might like it.
uptight and strait-laced, you’ve never known the chief justice to be someone so easily flustered. yet here he is with heat crawling up his neck, so warm that you can feel it against your palms as they ghost over his skin.
you can’t help but laugh at his current situation.
he was vehemently against you coming anywhere near his hair at first, grumbling about how his horns were on the sensitive side and he would rather not have to go into work feeling uncomfortably aware of their presence on his head.
however, you were hard to deny with that little smile on your face and such soft hands grabbing at his arms, tugging him closer. a sweet voice chanting, "please, honey? pretty please?"
neuvillette has never been good at denying you what you want.
it’s how he ends up sitting at your shared vanity. you comb through his long hair, watching him with amusement in the mirror as he huffs and jolts with every brush of your fingers against his horns.
the fact that he was letting you get anywhere near them was surely a testament to his trust in you. he was completely vulnerable here, at your mercy.
“sorry,” you mumble disingenuously, clearly enjoying seeing your usually serious husband falling apart with a simple action. you quickly tie off the end of his hair with a bow and he sighs in relief, thinking that the torment is over.
it's far from over.
he draws a sharp breath when you lean forward and press two gentle kisses on him; one on either side of his head just beside his horns.
neuvillette glowers at you in the reflection, disapproval written all over his face. "stop that," he scolds.
you do, but only because you're worried he might melt into a puddle before your very eyes if you continue.
it becomes a daily routine after that, with him sitting patiently in front of the mirror while you brush and tie off his hair. and you always end it the same way: two kisses, a soft "have a good day at work," murmured against him, and a mischievous little smile that makes him sigh.
he responds everyday with the same two words. "stop that," with a narrow-eyed glare.
the day you do stop, he's confused and irritated.
not only because you have the audacity to throw a wrench into routine again, which you know he hates, but also because he can't figure out why he misses your lips so much.
"what are you doing? i am going to be late."
"hm?" you peer up lazily from your spot on the bed, still half asleep.
"you have to do my hair."
"i thought you didn't want me to, so i slept in today."
your husband is eerily silent for a moment as he mulls over your words. then, he carefully perches himself on the edge of the bed, back turned to you expectantly and still wordless.
no, he would never admit he likes it just a little bit — the vulnerability, the trust, the feeling of your hands threading through his hair, the intimacy of it. hell no.
but neuvillette doesn't have to say a lot of things for you to understand; not when the way his skin heats up says it all; not when you're the first person to touch his horns in centuries; not when he’s saying stop that with such an affectionate glimmer in his eyes.
you give him four kisses that morning, two on either side.

5 am 20/03
I didn't writte for maybe 2 or 3 days not because I was lazy this time but because I didn't have anything to say. And I thought it would be boring to write something just to "write something" if I don't have anything to say then it's ok.
Today is monday so I thought that I should start a challenge of waking up at 5 am. So that's what I did today and maybe it's beacause I was exited of doing the challenge but it was very much easier then what I thought.
So I woke up and I put on a youtube "5 min breathing exercice" and I have to be honnest I thought that it was useless at first, like why would I need a youtube video to teach me how to breath , I know how to do it. But almost every video of waking up at 5 am that I saw people always do breathing exercice or meditation so why not trying. And I like, I like it a lot actually. I open my window and I sat infront of it to do the exercice. It was very refreshing, I heard the bird and the wind on the trees, it reminded me of my childhood when I would open my window in the middle of the noght just to stare outside. I really like it.
Then I put on a pilate video and oh my god it was so hard but I should have put video for beginers not for advanced, even if I like to challenge this is not challenge it's torture. And the facte that the video was in english was also not helping because I couldn't just let the voice guide me I had to wacth the movement and it made the workout harder. So I will try tomorrow but for beginner and in french this time.
And finaly I read a book I read for maybe 20 to 30 minutes wich I was very prouyd of.
So what I can say is that for a first day I really andjoyed it. It was fun, and didn't feel like a painful task to do so I really liked it and I can't wait for tomorrow morning. (I never thought I would say that one day)

#🌙.rambles#playing ffxiv rn n being in ishgard just#feels so at home. i wld rmb just afking here n wtvr#oh yeah this specific market board in the pillars i rmb once#coming across the fc lead here n we talked a bit c: n then a bit after that#he. an old.. friend of mine came up n i rmb the /hug n then he tped away wtf 😭😭#i rmb this was all on like. school in the morning n then logging into ffxiv yeah twintani. sometime in october 2021#n then after i still rmb how i checked my friends list n tped to limsa n then w ^^ we did some savage unsynced#just us then apollo n one of the dude's friends joined too. he joked abt some silly stuff. i still remember#nyways it's just. really bittersweet how yk we can't ever return to these memories#n sometimes things that used to feel like home yk stuff we used to be so familiar with. routine. they can just end so quickly#like ppl we used to talk to. or homes we used to have. yeah. so much#not too long ago the thought of 2023 seemed so far away but look—we're now already on the 3rd month#n soon. things that feel so far away wld. yk rlly be closer than it seems#i miss being a child. i miss the friends i used to have but have now lost contact with#just.. the little things. i miss them so much#i wldn't say i'm stuck in the past but it just hurts#when i'll eventually be an adult yk these years of my youth wld feel like a faraway dream#i don't really know how i'll be able to cope with that. all i can do is just.. not rlly think abt it as much. it just hurts#time's so funny huh? look it's nearly 5 pm now.#so much to do n the pressure of time is weighing heavy upon me#the inevitability of end of pain of loneliness is smth i know very well but.. it just. yeah#n there's so much in me that just wants to be let free. all these words n. yeah#fuck it#🌙.vents#i just want to enjoy myself for now but it's so hard w all the pressure i place on myself#to do so much to do this n that n. yeah#i wish. i could at the very least do more for others.#but i don't really know how#how tragic isn't it? nothing in life is ever quite enough. but. we can all just keep on going.. yeah

SUMMER BREAK ROUTINE
For those who don’t know, I am a history teacher and I am currently living in Brazil. Our school year calendar is different from the US and Europe; we start in February/March and end in December. So, right now, I am home, recharging. Soon, we will start again, so I am dedicating my time to myself. I am trying to build healthy habits and be more disciplined.
That’s why I decided to change things a bit here. According to my solar revolution, 2022/2023 will be all about self development. I am going to become better, already am better than I was last year, so, yeah, I can feel the difference. Slowly and steady, folks!
I never had any problems with waking up early, in fact, I love it. I am much more productive when I do so. But after the holidays, it’s been hard to get up before 7. I am falling asleep again and this cannot happen. I used to be up by 6 and I want my old routine back. That’s my main focus right now.
Once I am up, I brush my teeth, drink water, around 500 ml, and take my journal to write everything that comes to mind, sometimes the dream I had and my interpretation, what I am feeling or a song that is playing in my head and I don’t know why. This method is called Morning Pages, and I am loving it. If you want to know more, read here.

Once I am done, I take a shower, stretch and have breakfast. After that, I clean and organize my house, and then I take 30 minutes to workout. If I am the one in charge for lunch, that’s what I do after working out, if not, I will focus on the article I am writing on Film History. And the morning is over.
Now that I recall that in January I didn’t have much time to focus on my article because it was not the only intellectual thing I was doing. I took courses and, logically, I was tired. Filling every little hour of my day is not helpful at all. I am sure it will be better in February. This is something to keep in mind.
I don’t have a lot to do during the afternoons now, sometimes I watch football or series, learn a bit about witchcraft, astrology or any other topic, spend time on social media (instagram, youtube, twitter, whastapp) or just resting. After midday the time flies.
My nighttime routine is about hygiene and organizing my room. And in between these, I meditate, but I will try to meditate right after working out cause by the end of the day I always think: oh no, still have one thing to do. But I do it. I didn’t fail any time last month. Once my room looks decent, I put my phone aside, usually around 21h, and read a book until I fall asleep. 
There are a few adjustments I want to make, new habits to add, but overall, I am happy with what I am doing. I just need to keep going. 
I am fighting for my fairytale, guys. Great things are coming.
