primarily six of crows/SAB netflix, but recent fandoms that i might write more for soon include: red white and royal blue, percy jackson, winter’s orbit, bbc merlin, the last binding series, & the pulleyverse

i always try to!! but i’m not the best at it all the time 😅 i make more of an effort to reply to comments that are longer or that draw out particular parts of the fic that the reader liked!

i’m a big slut for a bittersweet but hopeful ending rather than angsty ones!! like possibly my ghost jesper fic because the final scene is Quite Literally wylan dying but like, that’s kinda happy given context???

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

i am still personally enamoured with the vibes in the final scene of ACOTLD 🥰 and it makes me very happy! so! that one! 

8. Do you get hate on fics?

uhhh most regularly i just get snarky gobshites trying to be like, clever and smug about shit, which never really works because i generally don’t care? but then also i sometimes get transphobic hate speech so idk 😅

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

i can't answer this non-sarcastically but like YEAH I'm a VERY HORNY WRITER and I feel like it says more about you than me if you haven't been able to guage that 😅 idk I have gotten a lot tamer though by including porn in longer fics compared to the very explicit collection of PWPs I used to write?? 

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

the closest i’ve gotten to crossover is sneaking shadow and bone characters into SOC fics! or like, the most subtle of references and cameos when I need random OCs like Easter eggs

a few times but i’ve always been vindicated by the fact they’ve never been well done? like it's always been word for word plagiraism (and also the ao3 abuse team is very good at taking things down)

not that i’m actually aware of! just podfics sometimes which has been nice 😊

never finished one but i’ve got 2-3 wips being co-written with my girlfriend atm 😊

I think my problem is that I'm delusional enough to think that I will finish literally all of the WIPs I have started and want to finish even though that's like, 100 fics or something idiotic 😅

Themes and foreshadowing I think!! Like running themes for sure but I've had definitive compliments on my plotting before! I also think I'm pretty good at dialogue, especially arguments, and narrative tension/feelings! 👀

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

i am not very good at cutting my darlings which means things get a bit meandering and diluted sometimes 😅

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

i can get behind it in certain circumstances! personal preference is to translate large chunks of text ie "'[English words],' he said in [language]" but I do write individual words like pet names in other languages

fucking hetalia when i was like, 12 🫥 but i have also in past written for: homestuck, haikyuu, yuri on ice, the adventure zone (balance & graduation) and (CONSTANTLY forget this) miraculous ladybug! some of which are better than others ngl 😅

20. Favorite fic you’ve written?

well this is like asking me to pick children & is also cruel when i have 230 of them klajdsfsadjfk  UHHH? i mean this is wicked cheating but im really attached to the bridgerton au i haven’t actually finished yet! it’s fully written, but needs editing, and one that i really really like!! in terms of fics i’ve POSTED, i really like “not just girls” (trans egg wylan), “you yearn to feel no hunger” (SAB-verse coda/character study) and a real deep cut, “only imaginary people disappear to peru for ten years” (missing scene from the lost future of pepperharrow)! idk i like a lot of the fics i’ve posted which is a nice position to be in 😅

1-How many works do you have on AO3? 

Aw, man. Not a single one. I’m on fanfiction.net, because I feel like it’s the best spot to find fellowship with other likeminded or book-based Montgomery readers. (At least for the Anne series.) 

2-What's your total AO3 word count?    Not a lot! I’ve written four weency sketches that don’t actually even count fully as stories, because there’s scarcely any plot, only niceties and overall sweetness. My word count is something around 6.7K, which is piteous, following batrachised! 

3-What fandoms do you write for?    Lucy Maud Montgomery. I’ve done a lot of Anne, and little of Emily. 

4-What are your top 5 fics by kudos?    I haven’t even written five! I’m probably unqualified for this whole list of questions. Is a kudo interchangeable with a follow? My most followed is the Smugglers Jug.

5-Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?    Yes, of course! If anyone has a fanfiction.net account, and they left me a comment, I’ve responded over private message, which is the vehicle that ff.net allows for such correspondence. It never feels like enough, though! In a perfect world, I’d be able to take you out for coffee or tea, as a way of saying thanks. Comments or reviews mean so much. 

6-What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?  

Angst? I don’t know her. 

7-What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? 

Sincerely all of them. Anne and Gilbert are happy in canon, and all I even do are canon expansion/inserts.

8-Do you get hate on fics? 

Mercifully, no. I’d probably cry. I can’t imagine what inspires people to leave hateful comments. It’s fan fiction! It’s supposed to be fun!

9-Do you write smut? If so what kind? 

Please, I’m blushing. I’m actually writing something right now (when I say ‘right now,’ I just mean that it’s a Word document I’ve glanced at in the last six weeks) that I’ll have to label as M! But it’s not all that explicit, and it’s really just something seen by a third party. And anyway, we’ll see if I can ever summon the courage needed to post it.

I mean… speaking of crossovers! I have about 2K words done of an Ingleside/the Alienist (they exist is the same time period, and only 1200 KM apart; in my brain this is totally feasible) crossover that sees an awful murderer land in Glen St. Mary, and Doctor Blythe being relied upon by Doctor Kreizler for professional assistance throughout. I might have the time to complete this when I’m 85.

16-What are your writing strengths? 

I think it’s a strength that I always want to be writing, isn’t it?

17-What are your writing weaknesses? 

I can’t stop writing run-on sentences. Like… think an entire paragraph that’s one sentence. I’m wholly aware that I do it. But I still can’t stop. I’m out of control, really. In other places, while it’s true I always want to be writing, I also can’t write unless I have the right pen the exact environment and circumstances that I feel are conducive to my best writing. (A desk, my favourite lappy, an empty house, pink noise, and a coffee.) If one small thing is off, I’m useless to my own endeavours.

Need opinions!

I’ve got way too many WIPs and I love them and I want at least some of them off my plate. So, even though I have a small audience, I’m curious if any of you see anything in this list you’d like to see me complete and post. I need outside motivation here :)

- Sakuya being jealous - kind of a hurt/angst to comfort, happy ending, this one is basically complete and just needs some really solid proofreading. Almost 8K words. Yikes.

- A3 plays D&D, Harugumi edition. Just what it says on the tin :) About 85% done, then proofreading and reformatting. About 5K words. And if I finish this one, I’ll move on to Natsugumi.

- Malleus x Yuu, hard to explain. Start of their relationship, first big issue, told in a kind of stream of consciousness style. I’m not sure if it’s only great to me, or if it’s just way too bogged down. Currently 2.6K words, may be 3K if I finish it.

- Malleus x Yuu, MAJOR FIGHT TIME. Angst-> happy ending, but seriously, what happens when one of the most powerful but naive guys on the planet fights with his mortal/magicless lover? How do you even have a basic relationship fight with someone like him? Terrifying. Lots of introspection, and Lilia actually misunderstanding and underestimating Malleus’ emotional intelligence. Currently 9K words, but unfinished. Will probably hit 10. I really kinda love this fic, personally.

- A3, Tsumugi-centered, mostly about his love of Halloween and making sure Mankai celebrates. Not sure where I’m going. But I’m loving writing him. Only 800 words so far lol. But I’m just getting into the story.

- TWST dorm leaders and what you guys are probably doing around 2am on a general day. 700 words, 5/7 dorms done, then proofreading needed.

- Asmodeus x MC - mostly fluff, just a self-care kinda thing. How to maintain a demon’s horns :) No idea on word count. I think it’s mostly done, just needs a solid ending and proofing.

- Mammon x MC - angst, pure angst. MC actually pokes Mammon’s brain a bit and gets him into Shakespeare. I’m probably the only one interested in this lol.

All my other WIPs are still in the experimental to just started to definitely abandoned stages.

Also, Eikichi Persona 2. And maybe Maya Persona 2 we wouldn’t necessarily be close friends but she’s nice.

T - Do you have any hard and fast headcanons that you will die defending?

Ok well first of all lists of immutable autistic & trans headcanons as long as my arm for both series, but we already know that very well. Other than that uh ….. really die hard thoughts …. akira & futaba are siblings its simply a fact. also that fanart where sumi runs into akechi post p5r and shes the only one who knows hes alive for a while and its kinda just Them is like 85% canon in my brain. Also there is no world post-p5 where akira doesn’t become like… protests georg. if you have an Adult Akira Kurusu concept and hes anything other than not only willing to punch dudes in the face to try and get things to change but actually Actively Doing the closest things to that he can manage: you are just wrong.

sgt frog headcanons that r Just Canon to me …….. Aside frm the list of whos autistic keroro Super Has ADHD but that really kind of is just canon. not on purpose but no one in the history of mankind has adhd coded a frog harder than this. There’s not much else I can think of this is the worst thing to ever happen to me 😔 I could reiterate my trans headcanons in great detail but we’d be here all night and the Sgt Frog 10 Years Later au in my brain is still only half-formed (its my job, my DUTY, with everything i like to imagine what the characters are like a while post-canon, especially if theres kids who can grow up or other clear room for further life development, but also there’s a lot of factors to consider to figure details out.) So I’m just gonna end by talking about Kururu’s older siblings because we as a people need to talk more about them. I think that personality wise they’re both like. somewhere in between kururu and saburo. They like to Cause Problems On Purpose more than saburo who mostly just Doesn’t Prevent problems but not as much as kururu whod probably blow up a galaxy if it was funny enough, but they’re also like, Outwardly Nice, less like kururu and more like saburo. Theyre sooo good at acting friendly and sweet and normal that you can miss how extremely petty and selfish they’re being and all the problems they are causing. This is just based on 1 clip in the anime where shipepe sends keroro a card for new years or something like that? and part of it goes kinda like “Just a funny thing…. you know what that happens to remind me of? That time I bought you ramen in elementary school…. I still remember exactly how much money you owe me <3” anyway tbats what they’re like to me.

Hi, we’re the Anti-Workshop, a worker-owned, union-represented cooperative. We operate a design and screen printing business that is democratically run through worker consensus. That means we decide when we work, for how long, what we do, how we do it and what is done with the product of our labor.

It is our belief that workers produce and reproduce all the useful value of our society. It is also our belief that the working class is not receiving its due share of the value we create together.

The anti-workshop comprises organizers, unionists and radicals who believe that the conditions of work—as they exist under the current economic and political system—are tedious, empty, abusive, exploitative and ultimately pointless for the majority of workers. We know we are not alone.

There is a growing movement of workers who want to re-imagine what work is and how we undertake it, who recognize that capitalism is designed to wring wealth out of our bodies and minds, and funnel it to the privileged elite of the owning and employing class.

We want to use what means of production we have access to (our printing press and our creativity) to provide materials for like-minded workers who are fed up and want to fight back.

Day 61 (Day 85-87) - Incomplete 24-26 January 2024

Errrr, I don’t really know. I just didn’t have time/didn’t want to? It’s cold and dark and I don’t wanna run. 

Day 61 (Day 88) - Complete 27 January 2024

I dragged myself out for 5k today. I’m gonna call that complete for day 61 which was 20 min furn or 30 min cross train. I tried to push the pace a little, but it still took me 33 mins which I was a little disappointed with, but still, it’s a lot better than I’ve ever done before so I can’t be too upset. 

Day 65 (Day 89) - Complete 28 January 2024

I’m calling it quits on this program because today I ran 10k!!

I decided I would just give it a go and see if I could make it, and I could!

This program has done its job, it’s got me to 10k, and now I think I don’t need it anymore. There’s a month until the race, so I’m going to run to my own schedule until then, but now that I know I can do 10k I feel like I don’t need to rely on the program anymore. 

I’m still in a little bit of disbelief that I can actually run 10k. I thought being able to ever run 5k was out of my grasp, so being able to run 10, and to be honest, run it easily, is just amazing to me. 

My plan from here is to run 10k each weekend between now and race day. I’ll do short runs Mon-Wed, rest Thurs and Fri and see how I feel the other weekend day and decide what to do based on that. The Mon-Fri runs will probably be about 5k and I’ll put in some intervals to try and increase my speed a little. 

I ran the 10k in 1 hour and 13 mins. I’m really happy with that time. If I could get to 1 hour 10 I’d be stoked, but honestly, just finishing is my number one now. 

I’ll see you in a month to let you know how I did!

10 Elements of Leadership

In today’s rapidly changing work environment, leadership can make or break the cohesivity of a business. With more virtual meetings and less in-person interaction, a well-rounded leader is needed to connect your organization.

After all, building trust between leaders and employees is the new business currency, according to new research by PwC.

There are many aspects to think about when leading a business, but on a macro level, it comes down to making your staff feel empowered, connected, and always moving forward.

Leaders do this by incorporating 10 distinct leadership elements that emphasize trust and a positive work environment that supports both the success and well-being of team members.

The 10 elements of leadership are authenticity, effective communication, coachability, supporting a culture of feedback, commitment to alignment, openness to differing ideas, transparency, the ability to shift behavior based on mistakes, humility, and vulnerability.

In this article, I’ll discuss how these elements will guide you to become a better leader and foster trust among your employees.

1. Authenticity

Stay true to who you are.

You’ve probably come across this adage in your life many times, and it’s equally true in business. When you speak candidly, your staff will feel connected to you and be more open. And vice versa: The minute you start acting performatively, your employees will sense it, feel like they’re being manipulated, and you’ll lose trust.

During my 30-plus years as a recruiter, many of my candidates and clients have said to me, “I’ve told you things I’ve never told a recruiter before.” This happens because I’m always honest and forthcoming with the people I work with, so they feel comfortable being so as well.

The same rings true in your business: If your employees feel you’re being genuine, they’ll be more inclined to open up and trust you with information.

How will this benefit your organization? A Gallup report reveals that companies with a highly engaged workforce have 21% higher profitability and 17% higher productivity. And being genuine is one of many ways to keep employees engaged.

2. Effective Communication

Let’s start with what effective communication actually means. It refers to the process of delivering a message clearly, where the receiver can recite the message back in an accurate way.

You’ll want to master this because effective internal communication motivates 85% of employees to become more engaged at work, according to Trade Press Services.

Effective communication can take on a few different forms within an organization. For example, the most important message that must be communicated is the company’s vision. This comes from the CEO.

You must make sure your entire executive team is on the same page — and same paragraph — when it comes to this vision, and then ensure all employees are, too.

Communication is also best done in person. If that’s not possible, the second-best method is video chatting; beyond that is talking on the phone, and lastly, emailing or texting.

So, if you have company news, it’s best to meet with everyone in the same room or over a Zoom call if you can’t gather your employees in the same place.

Also, remember: Communication goes both ways.

As a leader, you need to get your messages across. But you must listen and respond to others’ feedback as well. Any and all messages must be listened to rather than heard.

What’s the distinction? To listen, the receiver must quiet distractions within the mind and around themselves to absorb the message and respond appropriately. Listening must be done with intent, unlike hearing, which isn’t intentional.

3. Coachability

“Leaders aren’t born; they’re made,” said Vince Lombardi, a renowned football coach.

Just as top athletes rely on their coaches, top leaders need coaches, too.

To transform into a great leader, you’ll need a skilled executive coach to help you improve. If you’re open to it, a coach will help you identify issues you can’t see and ways to move past them.

Imagine driving home from work late at night. It’s dark, and you can barely see the road ahead. Suddenly, you drive over a pothole, and your tire blows out. You couldn’t see the deep hole in the road, even though it was right in front of you.

This is where a coach comes in, figuratively. If you had known the pothole was there, you would have driven around it or taken a different route.

Coaches are there to help you discover your blind spots, like the pothole. However, a great coach won’t yell, “Swerve to the left; there’s a pothole ahead!” Instead, they’ll guide you so you can discover it for yourself and adapt accordingly.

4. Supporting a Culture of Feedback

A culture of feedback is essential in any business, so listen closely. It refers to a workplace environment where employees at any level feel free to express their thoughts and provide feedback without the fear of reprisal.

To foster this in a company, you, as the leader, must lead by example. Start by calling a company-wide meeting to introduce this concept and your commitment to it. Most importantly, mention that any employee can schedule a one-on-one with you to discuss any issue or problem.

Once an employee schedules a meeting, that’s where active listening comes into play. Be approachable. Showing empathy toward a disgruntled employee may determine whether they leave your company — or stay.

Thank them for sharing, and later, think about what may need to be adjusted based on the information they provided. This will reinforce that you’re serious about fostering a culture of feedback and making employees feel valued.

5. Commitment to Alignment

Does your executive team know the vision and strategy for your company? Do your on-the-ground employees know it, too? Unfortunately, only 22% of teams believe that their leaders have a clear direction, according to Gallup.

An aligned organization is one in which the leadership team has a cohesive understanding of the company’s vision, business strategy, and communication strategy. Hanging a framed vision statement on a wall in the main office won’t cut it.

What can you do if your people are out of alignment? As a leader, start by making sure your C-suite members can all explain the company’s vision in the same way.

Then work down to the lower tiers; can everyone recite it? This is crucial for all-level employees because it will give them a greater purpose in their everyday tasks.

I once asked a founder and CEO, “If I ask each member of your team what the company’s vision is, will it be the same as yours?” He replied: “No.” I continued asking questions, and he realized it made sense to conduct a discovery session with his team to determine and gauge the gaps in alignment.

Later, when we walked through my findings, he was able to see the gaps objectively. He inquired about the steps he’d need to take to get his team fully aligned. I then asked, “Are you open to moving forward?” His answer? “Yes.”

This response was a turning point in transforming his company. His openness to the possibility that he might not know everything — and that there may be a better way of doing things — allowed him to change and move forward.

6. Openness to Differing Ideas

Staffing your company with people who have different points of view will generate a variety of unique ideas and promote growth. But diversity doesn’t just refer to gender and race; it’s about backgrounds.

To avoid “groupthink,” or thinking in unison, people from many different backgrounds are needed in one room.

One startup I worked with years ago had a reoccurring issue: an inability to innovate its products. As their coach, this issue became clear to me once I sat in on an executive team meeting. The CEO had hired friends from his alma mater to be on his team.

This is a common practice with first-time founders, but it hinders growth. A founder’s friends will reflect the founder’s ideas back to them or build on them, but they’ll never offer a different perspective. Innovation isn’t possible when everyone has the same opinions.

You can ensure your team feels comfortable bringing their ideas to you by actively listening when they express them.

7. Transparency

Your staff commits a large part of their week to your company, so don’t you think they deserve to know what’s happening within the organization?

Communicate the good news — but also the bad news. If you don’t, you’ll create a toxic culture of constant whispering, heated gossip about possible staff cuts, and rumors about what happened with the deal that just fell through.

All news is best coming from you. This is another method to make sure employees stay engaged.

For example, say you formed your company with a partner. Three years later, after hiring a dozen employees, you and your partner start to have disagreements about how the business should move forward. Eventually, you separate, and you form your own company.

This can be a delicate situation for employees along for the ride.

On the one hand, you don’t want your employees to be so involved that they lose focus on their work. On the other hand, if they have no idea what happened to cause the split, they’ll start forming their own ideas based on their observations. They also might jump ship because loyalty is tied to feeling connected.

The best way to navigate the split would be to let employees in on the decision in an informative way that makes them feel included.

8. The Ability To Shift Behavior Based On Mistakes

The way you see your failures as a leader will determine your success. Viewing failures as lessons will ensure that you can move forward and adapt.

As a leader, mistakes are inevitable, so if you get discouraged because of one setback, you won’t ever reach your goals because it will never be smooth sailing all the time.

One of my clients had a chief revenue officer who spoke to people in the most demeaning way. He would yell at employees in front of other employees, which made everyone uncomfortable. It caused a new hire to quit after only 30 days.

When we began working together, I started to see the CRO’s blind spots and helped him uncover them for himself. We peeled back the onion to understand where this behavior came from, which helped him spot it and stop it.

Granted, his bad behavior wasn’t fixed overnight, but with consistent work and support, he was able to shift how he communicated with his team.

9. Humility

While being confident in your decisions is important, you must balance your confidence with humility. Remaining humble keeps your mind open to new ideas and shows others that you’re willing to learn despite being in a leadership position.

The minute your ego takes over, you’ll become stuck in your ways, and your eyes won’t be open to all possibilities.

I can’t tell you how many founders have come onto my podcast and told me how their arrogance got in the way when they first got into business. They thought they were the “best” when, in reality, they had much to learn.

Instead of learning the hard way, keep your mind open and check your ego at the door.

10. Vulnerability

Strength is always noted as an essential aspect of leadership, but it’s the ability to be vulnerable that exhibits true strength.

Openly admitting when you make a mistake, showing emotion, and sharing your story are all ways to be vulnerable with your staff.

The minute you open up, others will relate to you and see you as human, which will connect your team. Sure, you’ll feel exposed and open to judgment, but the more you allow yourself to be vulnerable, the more you’ll see the value it brings.

I once had a conversation with a CEO of an information technology service provider and noticed that he favored brash language. When I asked if he’d be open to a quick chat about his use of certain words, he was all in. He agreed to be vulnerable.

Through the conversation, he could see that the words he was using might come off as judgmental. In that aha moment, he realized he and his team needed communication coaching. He realized there was a better way to do things, a way that would ultimately improve his bottom line.

Normal I actually did work on it a little bit Friday afternoon. I was gonna work on it this weekend, but I’m almost done with cataloging my tapes, so I worked on that instead. Normal is about 85% done for the regular content anyways. There’s two “bonus scenes” I want to work on, and those require some additional foley work. I also need to redo my voice acting for both bonus scenes and one other scene because I sounded terrible. I might do that next week if work doesn’t call me in early like they’ve been doing for the last two weeks. I’m not gonna offer anymore predictions on when Normal will be out since that kept getting pushed back. So Normal will be out when it’s ready.

Ghost Stories of North Idaho A compilation of short horror stories mostly based on things that have actually happened to me. This will be an album and I have a lot of recording ahead of me for it hng. Looking forward to working on it though, should be spooky. I got some great ghost stories written up. I need to fine tune and edit them before I begin recording anything. Have no idea when this will be out.

Short Film This has been my main focus for the last two weeks or so. It’s another auto-bio affair, where I’m reflecting on my past work (and by past work, I mean work from 10 to 15 years ago). I haven’t decided on the name of it yet and I’ve been taking my very sweet time writing it. This will probably come out before the other two, and within the next month or so.

The Trickster Need to finish the series outline and then start script writing it. Gotta get back into the mood to work on it. I suddenly lost it when I got caught up in the whirlwind of working on Tasukete haha.

Orintheous’ Revenge I need to light a certain someone’s ass on fire for lines, and I need to rewrite the scene where Orintheous and Co. are introduced because I hate the original (I have to get everyone to redo their voice acting anyways). I’ve been stuck on where to take the scene that feels the most natural. Sometime, I really need to sit down and work out the series bible for OR.

The Disaster Archives (other stories) Still working on TDA’s series bible too. I got a little writer’s block trying to think of how to describe the other characters (also felt bad because Rez’s section is 12 pages long, where as Myth’s will only be like 3 pages. I mean SHE IS THE MAIN CHARACTER but god). Like I said, next story is Everyday, but I am not allowing myself to touch any additional stories (aside from minor planning) until Normal is finished so I don’t abandon it.

Tasukete (title track) Music Video I REALLY WANT TO MAKE THIS, but I need to give myself the time to do so, and plan it out. Seriously, the title track is one of my favorite songs and I want a music video for it very badly.

Another day and another adventure into my student work. I didn't have any projects to assist with today, so I got to sit at the desk and look pretty while working on projects and answering phones. I’d consider that a win. I had the usual setup today, equipped with my jazz (namely a lot of piano pieces today for some reason) I set to work on writing, reading, and sketching. That is, for the first couple hours. 

I was tasked later on in the day to break down a big box from an 85” television that was brought in for the building somewhere. It was one of those boxes that stands about an additional half height of myself, so I had my work cut out for me. After disassembling the box into many pieces I was asked to go and put them in a certain area. One of my seniors, a funny and charismatic chap, told me in a joking fashion to go build a fort. Well I like to do what I’m told at work, so I made sure to do so; right next to the area for discarding recyclables I built a small fort and put my name on it. I’m sad to think it won’t be there in a day, but hopefully someone gets a chuckle out of it before it gets destroyed.

I will say that this is the first time I paid actual attention to the weather when this all transpired. Noting it was a lovely and sunny day, with that spectacular fall chill I was most definitely in high spirits when I went about this. As a side note, I immediately went back into the office, and noticing myself giddy with excitement, decided I needed to play something a bit more upbeat, and shifted my music to something with an increased tempo and brass range. I had to resist the urge to turn it up too loudly, lest we be mistaken for a lounge bar, but definitely an example where mood impacted what I wanted to consume, at least in that moment. 

Today, extraordinarily, I listened to about 10 hours worth of music while at work and while working on projects at home. Also probably worthwhile to note I got a ton of things accomplished today. An after effect of the weather, or the consumption of the music types? Perhaps a bit of both? Always a mystery as to what truly drives and motivates me to get lots of stuff done, but I’ll take it.

11 Women With PMDD Share What It's Really Like

Premenstrual dysphoric disorder is the evil cousin of PMS. They share the same types of symptoms—moodiness, increased hunger, cravings, fatigue, cramps, pain, brain fog, and depression, among others—but for PMDD sufferers, those symptoms get so bad they can cripple a woman's ability to lead a normal life.  

While up to 85 percent of women get PMS, according to the US Department of Health, only about 5 percent of women experience PMDD, according to the American Journal of Psychiatry.

We asked women with PMDD what it's really like living with the disorder. Here are their stories:

"I was diagnosed with PMDD last summer. Six months prior to my diagnosis, I started taking a certain birth control and soon every month I was experiencing severe PMS issues. I am a generally happy person, but during those few days I was someone entirely different. I was extremely depressed and anxious, having much more frequent panic attacks, and was super sensitive and lonely. I was even suicidal, which was terrifying. And the worst part was I was convinced that I had always been this miserable, and that I would always be this miserable, and it was never going to change. It felt as if someone had completely burned out the light in me and all happiness and joy and hope was gone. I didn't make the connection that it was related to my period but thankfully a close friend did. I have since switched birth control, which helped a lot, and increased the dosage of my anti-anxiety and anti-depressant meds. And into the cavalry battle we go! Can’t believe this is gonna take three whole chapters to get through… sports festival feels way too long already, man, and I’m only a handful of chapters into it...

[No. 28 - Strats, Strats, Strats]

We start off with Shouto speaking to his team, explaining that he chose them in order to make the most stable formation. Kaminari will guard the left and keep people away with his electricity. Yaomomo takes the right, makes the insulator, and shields and supplements their movements. Tenya takes the lead, since his mobility and physical stature make for good defense. 

One of them (I think Tenya?) asks if Shouto will hold people off with his ice and fire. Shouto doesn’t reply right away, instead looking over to the stands - more specifically, towards where Endeavor is watching from. He tells them no, in battle, he refuses to use his left side.

Huh, they do have the same eyes here. Wind dude kind of has a point. 

As the teams stand along the outside of the perimeter of the battle arena, Present Mic does a final, rhetorical check to make sure the teams are formed and are ready to go, then announces the start of the countdown to the battle royale. We jump around a bit as the countdown is given: Monoma tells Tetsu^4 no hard feelings, which Tetsu returns. Toshinori watches on from the stands. 

We see team Bakugou and team Todoroki in formation and ready to go, both of them focused on a single target. Izuku himself has gotten over most of his nerves and now is focused on the moment. All of them have their point totals given and also broken down by members of the team, in case you weren’t able to do the math yourself from the previous chapters. 

Since Hori is giving the team point breakdowns for our three main teams anyways, this is where I want to insert the team and point totals for all the teams, from most to least points on the headbands:

Have fun keeping track of points in the canon event, or mix stuff up for your own teams if you wanna do alt teams or whatever. Anywho, moving on, as Mic announces the start of the match.

And of course, it’s no surprise that several of the teams immediately rush Izuku’s team, even though I feel like it makes way more sense for them to hang back and wait until there’s only a few minutes left in order to actually take the points. But I suppose competitiveness and all that. More specifically, it’s team Tetsu^4 and team Hagakure after team Midoriya first.

Tetsu is the first to acknowledge (loudly) that the whole match is really a fight for the ten million, and everyone knows it. Hagakure herself is just eager to be going after Izuku, which is inch resting. Competitive, she do be. 

Tokoyami notes the two teams incoming and ready to attack, and checks with Izuku (in his own way) what their response will be. While the girls are a bit in wonder at Tokoyami’s choice of words, Izuku says that of course they’ll be running away. Honenuki, no doubt hearing this, attempts to prevent them from moving by causing the ground under them to soften into a gloop that they start to sink into. 

Oh no, quicksand! Too bad it’s not movie quicksand. Izuku quickly realizes whose quirk it is (I think) and tells Ochako and Mei to turn away for a second. Then, once they do, he turns on the jetpack, and they all go flying up and out of the pit trap and over the heads of the teams going after them. Tetsu realizes that the support girl must have provided the tools for flying, still focused on going after them. Hagakure calls for Jirou to try and stop them, with Jirou sending out her earjacks to try and keep them from getting away - only for Dark Shadow to smack away the jacks, allowing team Midoriya to make a clean escape.

Tokoyami tells Dark Shadow well done, and to cover the teams’ blind spots. Dark Shadow accepts the task with great enthusiasm, twisting around to watch behind all of them. Izuku takes a moment to gush over Tokoyami’s quirk, talking about how its defensive power was just what they needed, and how now the team is covered at midrange from every direction. Tokoyami is the one to point out how Izuku is the one who chose him. 

Ochako gives her team warning before they land, with her boots (from Mei) being the first to hit the ground with a poof of dust blown away from her landing site. Mei asks how Izuku is liking her babies, bragging about how cute they are and how she made them that way. Izuku complements the mobility they’re giving the team and Mei’s work in general, leading to her gushing more. Meanwhile, Izuku reveals in his thoughts that Ochako had made everyone except herself weightless, so that all the weight that’s being carried is her plus their clothes and equipment. 

Ochako, meanwhile, is a bit put out that Izuku hasn’t gushed over her part in all this, because the only part he gushed over her about was internal. Izuku, you should have complemented her work out loud as well, you dummy.

Team Hagakure prepares themselves to go after Izuku again, only for Sato to notice something important - the headband she was wearing is gone! Hagakure is shocked and freaked out, trying to figure out when and how it happened. Meanwhile, Monoma and his team are heading away, Monoma spinning said headband around his finger as he says to consider him an opportunist. 

We get a bit of an overhead view of a number of the teams running around the battlefield (which was very helpful in putting together the team listings). Present Mic states that two minutes have just passed, but the battlefield is already chaotic. Everyone’s scrambling for headbands, but there isn’t just the ten million out there! Other high rankers are also worth a shot as well. 

Just as an overview here, we see team Tetsu^4 and team Hagakure are still going after team Midoriya, with Shouji just there in the corner of the textbox approaching from behind as well. Teams Rin and Shinsou are rushing at each other, as are team Todoroki and team Kendo. Team Mindoriya, meanwhile, just seems to be trying to get out of the way on foot.

Shouji (or is it Mineta hiding inside the ‘bunker’ made by Shouji’s dupliarms?) laughs a bit, saying how this isn’t a scramble, but a one-sided massacre. Yeah, in retrospect, that sounds way more like Mineta. But also, Izuku thinking Shouji’s alone, even though this event is a cavalry battle, so maybe it was him? Eh, whatever. Tokoyami notes that they have to keep their distance, since fighting multiple foes is a bad idea. However, that plan goes a bit awry when Ochako steps on what turns out to be one of Mineta’s quirk balls, causing her to become stuck in place. Izuku quickly tries to determine where Mineta is, only to be surprised when he sees Mineta hiding inside Shouji’s dupliarm bunker. 

Someone (maybe Ochako?) asks if that’s legal, which Midnight confirms it is. As if that’s not enough, Tsuyu, also on Shouji’s back, lashes out with her tongue, just missing both Izuku and Tetsu thanks to their timely dodges. As she retracts her tongue, she complements Izuku’s dodging; Izuku wonders how many people Shouji has hiding on his back. 

Tsuyu quickly reminds Izuku to use her first name, but probably isn’t heard since team Midoriya make a strategic retreat back into the sky - breaking one of the hoverboots in the process, unfortunately. Present Mic comments on how team Mineta using the size difference of its members to form what can be more considered a tank than anything. Mei is distressed at the destruction of her baby, with Ochako apologizing but noting that they got away.

Too bad someone was prepared for their second takeoff, and really, really wants those points.

Izuku: Oh fuck I’m gonna die.

Katsuki, looking pretty gremlin-y, as per the norm, yells how Izuku is getting pretty damn full of himself (which is hilarious in its irony.) Izuku quickly calls for Tokoyami to react, and Dark Shadow takes the explosive blow meant for Izuku despite the massive discomfort in its expression. Katsuki is confused, but has no time to make a second attempt, as Sero tossed his tape and latches onto him, pulling him right back into the waiting arms of his team. 

Present Mic wonders whether leaving one’s unit is allowed, which Midnight confirms is allowed on a technicality - aka his feet didn’t touch the ground. In the staff booth, Death Arms comments on how those class A kids sure are something else. In the crowds, people comment on how it’s fun to watch, what with all the flashy moves, and that it’s just the level the kids are at after fighting real villains. 

Present Mic cuts back with with more commentary, stating how both the doggedly pursued first place team and the determined pursuers from class A are nothing to sneeze at. He then draws attention to the current standings, asking rhetorically how said teams are doing after seven minutes of play. There’s a moment of silence, the crowds and the two in the announcement booth shocked as they actually register the standings.

Why, it looks like almost all the points are being held by teams from class 1b! What a plot twist!

Monoma sweeps by, grabbing the headband right off of Katsuki, as he comments on how it’s too simple, really. Katsuki demands the head back back, threatening Monoma with death, while Mina comments on how easily he caught them by surprise. 

Monoma goes into a bit of a monologue on how Midnight’s announcement of the first event made it obvious that the number of participants wouldn’t be thinned that much in a preliminary. It wasn’t a stretch to imagine that a good number of students would be advancing to the next event - around forty or so. It was really the perfect opportunity to hold back and observe their soon-to-be-rivals’ quirks and tendencies, so it was only fair they ended up placing more modestly. 

Kirishima asks if the whole class was in on it. Monoma says that no, not everyone was, but it wouldn’t have been a bad idea, instead of aiming for some fleeting first place, like a horse going for a dangling carrot. Meanwhile, team Bondo approaching as well. How is Katsuki taking all this?

Not great. And of course, because Monoma has no chill, he turns back to give Katsuki a mocking look, commenting on how Katsuki’s already a celebrity - the victim of the sludge incident! He’ll have to ask sometime, how does it feel to be attacked by villains on an annual basis?

RIP Monoma, you fucking dead. Katsuki tells Kirishima there’s a change of plan. As Monoma glances back at him curiously, we see that Katsuki has gone completely feral and around the bend, and is probably actually going to murder a man by the end of this. Katsuki’s plan? Before going after Deku, he’s gonna murder every last member of Monoma’s team.

Izuku, apparently overhearing Monoma’s monologue, notes how class 1b threw the qualifiers and planned for the long game. Even before the sports festival, he had the impression that they were stronger than they seemed, and that they want to end class 1a’s supremacy. On the other hand, because of that, they aren’t quite so deadset on targeting Izuku. 

Izuku starts to talk to his team about how it shouldn’t be too hard to evade - only to be cut off both physically and verbally by team Todoroki getting in front of them. As Present Mic announces the match being halfway over already, Izuku takes a deep breath and recenters himself, stating how it won’t be quite that easy. Shouto states kind of menacingly that they’re coming for him; other teams are shown briefly reaction to the loss of points in their own ways. 

We close out on Present Mic noting that class B is on the rise, but in the end, who will wear the ten million point crown?

Anywho, glad to finally have that chapter done, even if there’s still two more before we get through this second event and finally move on to the finals. At the least, this sports festival stuff has actually gotten me thinking about the reasoning behind the decisions made for the entrance exam and sports festival, which I will probably end up making posts for after this arc is over.

2) What fandoms do you write for and do you have a particular favourite if you write for more than one?

So, I’ve written for The X-Files, Supernatural, and Harry Potter. I currently only write for Harry Potter. I would say Harry Potter has always been the most fun.

8) Where do you take your inspiration from?

Random shit. Brontide came to me because I was browsing the HPFanfiction subreddit looking for a story suggestion and someone asked for a story where Harry was addicted to Felix. Only one unfinished dimensional time travel story was listed. It idea sparked me to write my own version. Entombed came to me because I was rewatching Buffy the Vampire Slayer where Buffy was buried alive. I knew I wanted to bury Ginny alive. As I stated in the author’s notes of last Kalopsia chapter, I drew inspiration from the Djinn storyline in Supernatural. I write about things I know, too. I have young kids at home so I like writing the Potter children as young because I can mimic their mannerisms in my writing. I’ve even asked my kids to say certain words to emulate their speech pattern in my writing if I’m writing that age group.

14) How did you come up with the title for the XXX? You can ask about multiple stories.

I HATE coming up with titles. My newest trend has been to literally Google “unique words”. There are a ton of Pinterest accounts who make fancy word and definition pictures. I scroll through all these little unique words and pick out ones I think fit a story. Sometimes I Google a unique word for BLANK and see if I can get a cool version of that name. @breaniebree actually helped me with Entombed.

18) Do you have any abandoned WIP’s? What made you abandon them?

Sadly, I would put Abditory in this category. Never say never though. I think about it from time to time. Honestly, I abandoned it due to such a negative response I was receiving and the lack of positive response. I became discouraged. It wasn’t even negative response due to my writing, it was literally a bunch of “why would you waste your time writing a story about the biggest plot hole in the books? JKR butchered the whole SK storyline and it’s unbearable to read.” So, basically, my reviews and PMs were filled with JKR hate over that plot point in the books. They heavily outweighed the positive reviews I received. Honestly, I think that’s why a bulk of stories get abandoned - lack of positive reviews or enthusiasm for a story. If I didn’t get so many great reviews for my stories, I don’t know if I’d be able to finish them or continuing writing new ones. Fanfiction is free, (as it should be) but it’s a lot of time and hard work. A little appreciation goes a LONG way. So, my advice, review everything you love reading and encourage writers to keep writing. I always say in my authors notes that reviews make me want to write and inspire me. That’s the truth. The moment I stop getting reviews will probably be the time I take a writing break again.

21) Tell me about another writer(s) who you admire? What is it about them that you admire?

@breaniebree. I mean she’s dedicated years to a single story with so many plot lines and characters that I’m amazed she did it. She’s a fantastic writer, and I definitely consider her my writing BFF. I feel like I’ve learned a lot from her and enjoy talking about writing with her so much. I’m so glad we’ve become friends.

24) How do you feel about writing smutty scenes?

Horrified. Anytime I get a little steamy in my stories, it goes immediately to @breaniebree who usually adds way too much smut and then I cut it down to still be somewhat PG-13 in order to appeal to a wider audience.

29) Do you have a story that you feel doesn’t get as much love as you’d like?

I feel like Kalopsia isn’t getting as much love as my other stories. I’m way behind in my normal review count per chapter. I wonder if it’s just the confusing storyline or if it’s just not as fun to read? But I was definitely worried it wouldn’t get the love I thought it deserved when I started writing it and it’s lived up to that expectation.

30) In contrast to 29, is there a story which gets lots of love which you kinda eye roll at?

Cronus Rising. People still recommend it occasionally and I still get random reviews. I’m like, “why????” Its horribly written and a stupid plot line. I literally was getting back into writing after not writing for a good five years, so it’s abysmal. I’ve often wanted to rage delete it.

33) What’s the biggest compliment you’ve gotten?

When someone tells me I should write an original novel and they’d buy the hell out of it. I do have some original novel ideas floating around (one I’ve been writing since I was like 15), but crippling fear of rejection from publishers have stopped me from ever actually finish an original novel.

34) What’s the harshest criticism you’ve gotten?

I got some criticism in Brontide for having drama for drama’s sake with no real purpose or goal for said drama. I felt my drama served a purpose, drove the story along, and I add a lot of fluffy and cute family moments. I feel like in real life, when you to your loved one is going through sometime, it feels like nonstop drama and bad news and like a dark cloud just follows you. I wanted to emulate that in real life. So Harry’s POV was often drab because HE was the one going through something horrific and it was all doom and gloom for him.

44) What is the last line you wrote?

“You never think I listen to your ramblings, but it’s kind of hard to block out, mate.”

51) From one to five stars, how would you rate your writing? (No downplaying yourself!)

Um... I’d say a 3. I think I have some good and unique plots for stories but sometimes I struggle on how to execute those on paper effectively. I struggle with descriptions, action, and showing rather than telling. But I do think I’m good at dialogue and capturing a character’s personality. So, 3.

62) Tell us about a WIP you’re excited about.

A lot! I have a Teddy/Victoire stalker story in the works that I’m excited about. I have (this is going to sound weird) but an outsider rom-com planned where Ron/Hermione breakup right before Hinny’s wedding and Hinny struggles to get them back together before the big day. I have a Potter family vacation fluff/comedy story planned. I have a game night one-shot planned. I have a short story about Luna’s wedding. So many that I want to write and don’t know which one to write first!!

76) Is there anything you’ve wanted to write, but you’ve been too scared to try?

I’d say no. I’ve always tried to write my ideas down. Some I’ve never finished because inspiration peters off and some I plan on finishing once my newest big project is done.

82) Summarize a random fic of yours in 10 words or less.

Harry goes through some shit, and Ginny is his soulmate.

85) Ramble about any fic-related thing you want!

I don’t understand why people don’t ship Harry/Ginny more. I don’t understand the Harry/Daphne obsessions (like just why???) or the Harry/Hermione ship at all. I always see people asking for story recommendation and they specific say “no Harry/Ginny”. They are literally perfect for one another and they are soulmates.

I obsess over them. I analyze them. I may get bummed out and not write for a few days. If you don’t like what I write, then don’t read or review. It’s a hobby. I do this for free. I’m not asking you to critique me. Give me a nice review or ask me a question, but don’t be cruel or mean because you can hide behind a keyboard and be a bully to make yourself feel superior.

98) If you had to give up either snacks and drinks during writing sessions, or music, which would you find more difficult to say goodbye to and why?

Music. I grew up with three older brothers. My house was always rowdy and loud and obnoxious. I need it to be loud. I can’t stand the silence or focus when it’s silent.
