"The first step is always the hardest."
You’ve probably heard this before, haven’t you?
Well, I don’t agree.
I don’t agree because everyone can take the first step – it’s not a big deal. Anyone can decide they need a change and think about how they’ll implement it in their day-to-day life. “On Monday, I’ll start dieting.” “I’ll wake up at 5 AM and hit the gym.” Sounds familiar, right?
The thing is, every person you see on the street can do what they say they will.
Once. And then it’s over.
Your neighbor (yes, the one who drinks beer and watches TV all day) can go to the gym once because he doesn’t know how difficult it is. His brain (and our brains, in fact) cannot imagine pain. He’ll enter the gym and start running on the treadmill. Then he’ll lift some weights, but it will feel uncomfortable. Now the brain knows: Gym = pain. Beer + TV = comfort.
The next day, comfort wins.
See why everyone can take the first step? It’s not that hard.
What’s actually difficult is sticking to the plan. Not giving up is difficult. Discipline is difficult. Not eating sugar for one day is alright. Not eating sugar for a month is painful.
When you start your self-improvement journey, you have to think about what you’ll do once the illusion is gone. You have to decide that you’ll do it again and again, no matter how hard it is.
Your journey means more than your first day.

Good Morning,
Let’s talk about consistency.
⚠️ Before we begin, quick content warning: in this post I mention mental health, depression, anxiety, chronic illness, motivation, over commitment, (brief) exercising and cooking food. If any of these topics are, or could be triggering to you, please do not proceed, or proceed with caution. ⚠️
There are so many things in life that we all often find ourselves wishing were more consistent: mental health, relationships, finances. In my own life, my battle with consistency has always been about motivation. Amidst the ongoing struggles I faced in my teenage years with depression, anxiety and, at the time, what I had not yet identified as a chronic illness, I lacked the motivation to stay consistent with…anything really. I often found myself trapped in the endless loop of “i need to do this thing, but in order to do this thing, I first need to do these twelve other things!” And the only thing that ever actually happened as a result was a long nap. Now, in my adult life, what has changed? Well, really, not as much as you’d think. Only my mindset.
There are plenty of phrases that we often hear from motivational speakers, therapists, or even read in self-help books that many of us who struggle with consistency and motivation hold very dear: be gentle with yourself, allow yourself grace, healing isn’t linear, one step at a time, don’t beat yourself up, and so many more. The truth is, there is a very fine line between being patient and gentle with yourself, and being passive and complaisant. The latter is a sneaky facilitator for a perpetual halt in progress, disguised as self love. It is true that self love is the basis of healing and becoming the most outstanding version of yourself, but often times self love must mean looking into the mirror and saying to yourself “Yes, i am tired, and that’s ok. Though i may feel as if i can’t, today can’t is not an option. I am tired, but I will do what I need to do for me.”
Want to know secret?
See, with many things in life, the trick is to start small and take it one baby-step at a time. You want to start living a healthier lifestyle? Don’t throw yourself into it, drop hundreds of dollars on yoga mats and fresh organic produce, commit to meal prepping and going to the gym seven days a week. If the foundation to consistency is motivation, don’t over commit yourself. Motivation is a fragile commodity, and becoming discouraged by a lack of progress can be the very thing that leads to giving up on your goals. Likewise, when you start with simple tasks and reachable goals, the feeling of accomplishment you’ll get from meeting them can be exactly what you need to keep moving forward! So, instead of jumping all in, you might start by commitment to consuming at least 2 liters of water per day for a whole week, then the following week, choosing a few nights to cook a healthy and balanced dinner. Slowly you’ll notice that these tasks that began as goals are becoming nothing more than pure habit and routine. You’ll find that being gentle with yourself meant lovingly holding yourself accountable, and little by little, peeling back the bounds of your comfort zone all along. This is not done in some grandiose way, but rather, slowly and carefully, until it becomes second nature to create your own success! So, here’s your sign to start small, meet your goals, and cultivate consistency in your own life!
Yours truly, G

How to Stay Motivated Year-Round: Tips from DMV Pro Trainers

In the world of fitness, motivation is often what gets us started — but it’s consistency that brings results. Whether you're a beginner, intermediate, or advanced athlete, staying motivated throughout the entire year can feel like a daunting task. Life throws curveballs, routines get disrupted, progress can plateau — and suddenly, the spark that once drove you starts to fade.
That’s where the expertise of DMV Pro Trainers comes in. With years of experience transforming lives through personalized coaching, DMV Pro Trainers understands what it takes to stay inspired and dedicated all year round. Here’s a comprehensive guide to staying motivated — not just for a season, but for life.
1. Set Purposeful, Achievable Goals
Motivation thrives when you have a clear direction. At DMV Pro Trainers, we help you break down big-picture fitness dreams into smaller, achievable goals. Instead of focusing solely on “losing 20 pounds,” we encourage setting milestones like:
Attending three workouts a week
Increasing your protein intake
Improving your mile time by 30 seconds
By making your goals realistic and measurable, you stay focused, encouraged, and less likely to give up.
2. Personalize Your Plan for Long-Term Enjoyment
Too often, people lose motivation because they follow one-size-fits-all programs that don’t align with their preferences or lifestyle. Our expert coaches at DMV Pro Trainers create customized plans tailored specifically to your:
Fitness level
Body type
Health history
Personal goals
Schedule and commitments
Whether you prefer early morning workouts or late-night sessions, cardio or weights, we build a sustainable system that works for you. Because when you enjoy what you're doing, consistency follows naturally.
3. Measure Progress — Not Just Weight
We get it — the number on the scale is tempting to obsess over. But true progress goes far beyond weight. DMV Pro Trainers encourages clients to track a variety of fitness markers, such as:
Strength gains (e.g., lifting heavier weights)
Endurance improvements
Body measurements and posture
Mental focus and energy levels
Improved sleep and recovery
Progress is progress, no matter how small. Seeing these wins adds fuel to your motivational fire.
4. Leverage Accountability with Coaching
Staying motivated alone is hard — but with someone in your corner, it gets easier. Our certified trainers at DMV Pro Trainers serve as your accountability partners. Through regular check-ins, performance reviews, and motivational support, we help ensure:
You stay on track even on low-energy days
You push through mental blocks
You celebrate your achievements
With expert eyes on your journey, there’s no room for doubt or drifting away.
5. Keep Your Routine Fresh and Engaging
One of the quickest ways to lose motivation is boredom. Doing the same workout day in and day out not only stalls physical progress but also burns out your mental enthusiasm.
At DMV Pro Trainers, we ensure your routine evolves by:
Rotating workout styles (HIIT, strength, endurance, mobility)
Introducing new equipment or challenges
Offering nutrition updates as your goals shift
Building in fun, goal-oriented challenges (like 30-day fitness streaks)
The result? You look forward to your workouts instead of dreading them.
6. Prioritize Mental Fitness Too
Motivation isn’t just physical — it’s mental and emotional. We help clients develop a growth mindset that empowers them to stay the course, even when challenges arise. Our coaches incorporate:
Mindset coaching
Stress management tips
Journaling and reflection exercises
Visualization techniques
A strong mind builds a strong body. When your mindset is aligned with your goals, long-term success becomes inevitable.
7. Surround Yourself with a Supportive Community
Your environment has a massive impact on your motivation. That’s why DMV Pro Trainers isn’t just a fitness company — it’s a community of goal-driven individuals. Through group programs, events, and online support, you'll gain:
Encouragement from like-minded peers
Shared accountability
Stories and successes that inspire you to keep going
Together, we grow stronger — mentally, physically, and emotionally
8. Celebrate All Wins — Big and Small
Sometimes we wait for major milestones to celebrate progress, but DMV Pro Trainers reminds you that every win counts. Whether it’s resisting a cheat meal, finishing a tough session, or simply showing up when you didn’t feel like it — each step is a building block.
We believe in rewarding consistency, effort, and commitment — because those are the habits that create lasting transformation.
Final Thoughts: Turn Motivation into a Lifestyle
Motivation can be fleeting. That’s why at DMV Pro Trainers, we don’t just teach you how to get motivated — we help you turn fitness into a lifestyle. A routine so rooted in purpose, joy, and self-growth that it becomes part of who you are.

the biggest gift, joy and enrichment to my life in this whole weightloss journey has truly been finding joy and fun in moving my body and sweating and feeling my heart pumping and the feeling after finishing a workout - there's nothing like it 🩷🩷🩷
Excercise has always been something to dread and to be pushed to do. It was about being shamed for not being good at it. For not being as fast or agile or strong as others. My dad pushed me to move because he wanted me to lose weight and my stupid highschool PE teacher made me feel even more embarrassed about my body and fitness (and I truly hate her for it!!! I've promised myself if I ever meet her again, I'll tell her what I truly think about our time in school together and what trauma she has inflicted upon many, many students of hers).
So moving my body has always been a punishment or something to be ashamed of and it was always about passing judgement on my performance.
Now I've found so much joy in just trying my best and in just continuing to show up for myself. The only person who can hold myself accountable is myself. Doing the workout even if I'm tired is self-care. I do 't have to do the excercises exactly like the instructor, I don't have to do them as fast or as often. I can adapt them to my current fitness level. Any movement is still better than no movement.
It's so much fun. I find myself smiling at the instructor through the TV screen so often. It's truly like therapy. It's a resource I now have in my reportoire to regulate myself.
Honestly, moving your body is pure joy and not about results or a performance report. It's what we're made for 🩷🩷🩷
#for now I've really found a routine that works for me and workouts that are do-able and fun and different each time#I love love love it working out is so much fun i've missed out on so much for so long#I've subscribed to the grow woth jo home app and i just love her so much and the community there#It's about having fun and staying consistent and I love it#I find myself looking forward to working out so often 🩷#weight loss journey#finding joy in movement#healing#working out
