I may not look it but i used to watch ft!!

I've been rewatching some of the episodes and im still wishy washy on whether or not I want to redesign all the characters but here's some recent and old character sketches!! I've been playing around with their designs but trying not to deviate too far so that the characters still look like who they're supposed to be

Idk if anyone would wanna see me redesign/rework every character but I'd post em if there were people who wanted to see that.

Here's the rundown for those who are interested:

My basic ideas for fairy tail are to make every character a fantasy trope/creature/class/myth. Some of the characters will change into a different thing over time as they gain experience. I feel like fairy tail has a lot of potential to write a more modern fairy tale type story because of the whole wizards and magic thing. With dragons and princesses n everything. This is obviously present in the story, but i really want to reinforce that idea. there are some characters who I think really fit this, like Erza (obvi main knight of the story but also has the title of titania queen of the fairies) and natsu (obviously dragon as an mc, sort of a role reversal of the evil dragon. and maybe a fun demonic plot twist haha). But with other characters i may need to make more changes. Lucy is a loose version of the princess (with a fun runaway backstory), but I want her to evolve into a priestess. Grey kinda has nothing going on for him imo, the ice wizard thing keeps throwing me off every time i try to project something onto him. I think i'll go with a hunter -> demon slayer thing. He just happens to use ice magic. i don't wanna go with regular wizard because thats a bit boring lmao. It would also make the elemental thing between natsu and grey funnier bcuz he's a spooky demon and that guys a hunter so you guys REALLY shouldnt get along. They do anyway because the power of friendship lol Anyways that's the basic plan? even if i dont post it on tumblr just know its cooking in the back of my head. thx for reading all this haha

Transmasc Elfman and transfemme Lisanna. They traded clothes as kids before Elfman's growth spurt.

One day when he was a kid, Gajeel woke up to a giant ass centipede crawling on his face and has been creeped out by them ever since. It's kill on sight. He doesn't care how many holes he puts into the walls and floors, he ain't stopping until the damn thing is dead. You'll hear the sudden sound of destruction, walk into a room that looks like a stampede ran through it, and Gajeel will be standing there with a straight face and say, "I'm fine, it's dead now." (Sorta inspired by that one Archer scene in the first episode of Fate Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works abridged)

Okay, I know the manga has the little bio cards of the guild members and Droy's says he's afraid of spiders, but I've elected to ignore that. Spiders are friends and welcomed in his gardens and greenhouses any day. He loves watching them weave webs. I can see him getting a tarantula. JET is the one with arachnophobia. The screeching on top of a table and running a mile away kind.

Well, I've done some Grayke Headcanons before, and you can find those at [this post.] But lemme see if I can think up some more!

Canajane: Cana confesses first, but it takes a good long while because no one ever really knows what Cana is thinking. (does she date men as often as she says? does she like men? women? who knows? she seems pretty open to anything, but no one's ever SEEN her actually out on the dating scene all that much.) She finally confesses when she gets tired of hearing people spread rumors about Laxus and Mirajane, and is very happy when Mirajane admits she's not even attracted to men. (A fact Laxus already knew, but kept secret as it wasn't his to tell.)

Fraxus: Freed takes the lead a lot more often than one might think. It comes naturally to him after leading The Raijinshuu for so long and Laxus is happy being able to trust Freed enough to just let it happen. But their business is their business, so it doesn't get shared often.

Lisanna: Ever the chaotic asexual who likes to tease and join in on pranks, has turned down more offers for dates than she can count because she really doesn't want anything physical with people and they always have to make it about that why... (I may be projecting a little here, but shh.) May also be Aromantic, but the jury is still out on that. (Even Lisanna doesn't know. If anyone asks she's just gonna shrug.)

Eflman: Trans. What's manlier than a selfmade man. (as said by @phoenix-before-the-flame) He knew what he was since he was very young, and while it scared and confused him to bring it up at first, the way both sisters immediately called him by his chosen name and pronouns filled him with so much joy. (No wonder he immediately wanted to learn take over so Mirajane didn't have to be alone. He wanted to do for her what she'd done for him.) No one remembers who Elfman "used" to be anymore and he couldn't be happier. (and when Evergreen eventually found out, she stopped harping on him about his "be a man" speeches as much and would often say it to him instead, just to watch his face light up. But shh, don't tell anyone.) Natsu: DemiRomantic and DemiSexual. This gremlin is the Demi of all Demis. Romance? Don't think about it until he's already neck deep in feels for someone and by then it's just confusing and overwhelming so time to pretend that's not there. Sexuality? Can he eat that? (In a non sex way thank you very much.) Sure, the jokes and the fantasies come out the more he ends up liking someone, but he'd much rather a good ole brawl over the horizontal tango any day. (That and who dances horizontally? That's weird. What? What do you mean that's not what that means? Crap.)

Hisui and Yukino: They're shy babs who don't know what to do with their feelings or where to even begin expressing them. Especially since they don't see each other often, but Hisui certainly has felt things for Yukino since she first laid eyes on her and it sometimes leaves her feeling restless and annoyed that she's stuck in Crocus Castle all the time. (Being a Princess is full of too many duties to be running about on dates, after all.) Yukino is more oblivious and while she thinks Hisui is gorgeous and a wonderful leader, she doesn't understand why the Princess Blushes so much when they're around each other.

Stingue: He has moments of gay panic around Rogue more than one might think. He can't help it. The soft smiles Rogue gives just makes his heart stutter and he forgets how words work half the time. Please don't tell Rogue, the shadow slayer would NEVER let him live it down.

Frosch: No ship but.. they're enby. It's canon. No one can convince me otherwise.

I'm sure I can think up some more, but I don't wanna make this post too long. I may write more later. Thanks for asking, @newgeht !

"Aniki!" A voice called, approaching fast from behind Gray. He turned around with surprise, "Kori?" Gray asked.

The 11 year old collided into his chest, arms around his brother's stomach. He quickly let go and placed something in Gray's hands. "What is it?" He asked, curiously looking over the small, never melting ice sculpture. It was in the shape of a flower he didn't recognize. "Its a Forget me Not! Its a flower people give to others when they want them to know they'll never forget them and that they're always by their side." the younger child stepped back, and looked at him with hopeful yet proud eyes, "Go get that S-class rank Aniki."

Kori Fullbuster, he was 11 years old when his older brother and several members of his guild disappeared. 7 years later, Kori is now 17 and on the last remaining mission requests of the dying guild. But what he doesn't expect when he comes back, is to reunite with the multiple of people he's been missing for nearly 7 years.

A tale of familial love between two brothers and their guild, along with the complications of the magic world that threatens to tear them apart every second.

Mary Esther Strauss (Mirajane) (the Strausses came from an extremely religious town which was the whole reason they got kicked out after Mira discovered her magic, so they all have really really biblical names. also have this: Mira: Mary is kinda like maryjane, which is slang for weed, but I also like Mira. So Mirajane it is.)

Lydia Lucifer Strauss (Lisanna) (their parents lost a bet and Lisanna didn’t even know her middle name until after they died for that reason)

how i feel about this character | gray is, without exaggeration, my favourite and the most important character i have ever come across. i don't know how to express the fact that i literally don't know who i would be, as a person if i had never found gray. i love him with all my heart.

any/all the people i ship romantically with this character | the easy answer is "anyone but juvia who is an appropriate age", but specifically: natsu, lucy, erza, loke, hibiki, cana, jellal, mirajane, lisanna, yukino, gajeel, laxus, sting, rogue, erik, levy, laki, rufus, freed

my favorite non-romantic relationship for this character | gray, ultear and lyon, i just prefer them as siblings~

my unpopular opinion about this character | you know those memes where tired people are taking care of gremlins, and how they usually put lucy as the tired person? i think gray is the tired person and lucy is the gremlin.

one thing i wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon | i wish gray was actually characterised as natsu's equal, instead of just... implying that he is, and leaving it up to fan-interpretation which more often than not instead sees him as natsu's inferior.

favourite friendship for this character | ( isn't this the same question as favourite non-romantic relationship? ) anyway, gray and lucy, or gray and natsu in which both parties are ace/aro. in gray and lucy's case, they're also both trans and gray helps lucy really come into herself and become the woman that she always knew she was.

my crossover ship | i don't really do crossover ships, but i can tell you the one that i will FOREVER stamp against, which is gray and edens zero's weisz!

lucy heartfilia

how i feel about this character | a really cute character with a lot of potential, especially earlier in the series when she was more angry and hot-headed, but as of recent i've been struggling to remember what her personality is which... i'm a creative writing student and i'm studying characterisation, so ( from my perspective ) if i can't describe her personality, then that really isn't great...

any/all the people i ship romantically with this character | gray, loke, erza, levy, lisanna, cana, yukino, minerva, and pretty much any other female character you can think of.

my favourite non-romantic relationship for this character | natsu and lucy, they just work better as friends.

my unpopular opinion about this character | i really don't like the idea of lucy's star dresses. firstly, they step on erza's toes more than i'm comfortable with. but also, they make lucy into a brawler which she was never meant to be, she's much more of a support unit, and that's where a lot of "lucy's useless" arguments come from. but showing different types of fighting and characters with different capabilities isn't a bad thing, even if the fandom at large disagrees. lucy should've been allowed to stay a character who relied on support and supported fighting styles, because it also helps vary the action up with the rest of the main cast already taking the brawler role, themselves.

one thing i wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon | i want to see lucy in a suit, she's look incredible!

favourite friendship for this character | same answer as gray's, i just really like that idea~
