despite of the reason why Elrohir was hiding in the East Porch, his lips quirked into a half smile. the sharp yet teasing comment allowing the sudden knot of tension to fade away. sometimes it was easier to be around the Rangers of North, than his own kin. especially during the years following his mother's departure to Valinor.

although... this particular Dúnedan was supposed to be resting in the Healing Hall. not tracking down wayward elf twins. he put the completed floral arrangements into a neat bundle, before turning to face the limping man. "Should you be walking yet, Himeinior?"

"Possibly not. Should you be hiding in your own home, Elrohir?" the Ranger shot back, ignoring the raised eyebrow as he dropped gingerly into the vacated seat. a snort escaped at the unreadable expression on his friend's face, since they both knew who he was avoiding. The teasing soon faded as Himeinior studied him quietly, not expecting an answer.

"No. But I have no interest in dealing with visiting elf maidens, who won't leave me alone. Especially with it being the Midsummer festival. Ada's dealing with enough at the moment as it is, so I'll manage." silver eyes caught the sharp look and switched his gaze to the floral arrangements.

hlrohir disappeared through the Porch doors to drop them off with Lindir, before returning and side eyeing the hurting Ranger. Be didn't need spoken words to know that Himeinior was asking for help; being a Empath meant that he could feel how much pain the other was in. "Let's get you back to the Hall."

thankfully they were already in the Last Homely House, so it didn't take long to reach the Healing Halls. se carefully deposited the man on a bed and went to find his father.

especially identical twins were, more often than not, said to be two halves of one soul. occasionally providing a counterbalance to keep them both sane, although this sometimes failed. in a world that had often pushed people past their breaking point, that connection could be both helpful and lethal.

Elladan and Elrohir had always used their twin link to keep themselves in check. more so Elrohir, for reasons that he would prefer to keep just between him and his twin. he had always been the slightly darker of the two, yet neither he nor Elladan had known why.

the younger silver eyed elf pinched the bridge of his nose, trying to ease the blossoming headache without letting anyone see. well. more precisely to stop the Lord of Imladris from seeing. although his father was surrounded by elves visiting the Hidden Valley, so no one would hopefully notice him slipping away from the event.

the blinding pain in his head faded a bit as he left the Last Homely House and stepped into the cool outside air. thankfully barely anyone had been out that night, most enjoying the party inside. a small smile didn't ease the concern in the waiting stablemaster's gaze. but as normal, nothing was said.

for this wasn't the first time that Elrohir had disappeared into the wilderness outside of Imladris during a party. but his absence was rarely noticed, since he always returned before anyone woke up and Elladan covered for him if anyone asked.

given that the younger twin rarely came to breakfast the day after a party was held, it wasn't unusual that no one saw him that morning. the afternoon was a different matter as the twins had meant to be training with Glorfindel. yet neither of them had shown up.

when i tell you this fic is so disjointed because i keep going back and forth where i write -

Looking up was a complete mistake because that is definitely a floating mouth grinning down at him.

Eddie shrieks, stumbling backwards and falling to the ground. He watches, stunned, as the mouth floats down and a kid just materializes out from it, crouching and smiling right in front of him. Their eyes are wide, wavy hair bouncing and little cat ears flopping front and back as they laugh at him. Another kid appears out of nowhere behind them, with matching ears and even a flicking tail behind them.

Setting Sail So since the twins are way more overprotective in this au they decided not to set sail when they turned 17. This actually upset Luffy/Nika since they're all about dreams and freedom and felt like they were holding their brothers back. So once Luffy turned 17 he decided to set sail and not allow Ace and Sabo to be part of the Strawhat Pirates since he knew their dreams were to be pirate captains themselves and this way they still technically have an out if they ever want to follow their own goals. However hes still Luffy and loves his brothers and never wants to be apart so although their not technically part of the crew they still sail with him since theyre family.

None of this actually matters to anyone who isnt part of the ASL since the marines still brand them as strawhats (much to Luffys chagrin) and everyone else is just confused by any Luffy explanation of "the crew is his family and his brothers are family and his brothers and the crew are family but the brothers are not crew" It does however mean they are technically free to be adopted by certain pirates/rebel leaders

Reading Between the Lines Podcasts returns with a guest narrator, this time! @jaynovz joins me once again, this time narrating Chapter one of her own fic, Did The Twin Flame Bruise Paint You Blue, colloquially known as the Breakup AU.

The title and the story are inspired by the 10 minute version of Taylor Swift’s All Too Well and in our interview, we discuss those parallels, the depth of the SilverFlint tragedy, the art of audio narration, and how best to approach scenes of intimacy from a narrating perspective. Jay and I also discover that we’ve made nearly identical choices for voicing Flint and Silver. This is a jam-packed interview, folks! So buckle up for this ride!

So this idea has been bouncing in my head like an excited rabbit on caffeine. (I also don't know if anyone else thought of this but I thought it would be cool) so you remember the reblog chain where the players are all in Desmond head talking like a twitch chat, and the other reblog chain of Desmond's ancestor data gaining sentience because isu bstm, right? Well I had a thought, what if we combined the two, like maybe something like the part of the main group + Desmond are trying to get to the others who are in another part of Abstergo or the assassin's network and Desmond, let's say that while he was split he couldn't hear us until they passed through this really corrupted part of an ocean map (let's say it's in Edward's time) then all of a sudden Desmond hears one of us. (Sorry if this doesn't make sense. I hope you have a heath day/night)

The Ratatouille AU where the ancestors can hear Desmond while ‘playing’, its more unhinged cousin, the Ratatouille AU where Desmond can hear us and the outside POV of Al Mualim thinking the Apple broke Altaïr and the sidestory of Altaïr accidentally connecting with Ezio while looking for Desmond (I hope I didn’t forget anything else)

Okay, so the idea is that we’re using the setup for the character data gaining sentience and we’re setting this as sorta like the ‘epilogue’ to the Ratatouille AU.

Instead of letting the world burn (“As a treat!” one of the voices chirped), he sacrifices himself. When he wakes up, he’s in Abstergo’s database, chained as a digital copy of Sample 17.

He can’t hear any voices anymore.

Are they disappointed with him?

Did they think they wasted their time trying to help him?

Did he… make the right choice?

He doesn’t know how much time has passed… when the virus started taking over the database and servers.

In this one, the virus isn’t made by Erudito + Assassins. It’s of ‘unknown origin’.

All they know is the name of the virus is “for desmond!” and it is targeting Desmond. Of course, Sample 17 is in one of the more secured encrypted ‘part’ of the database so it mutated to wake other data up.

Data that has connection with Desmond.

Along the way, the virus inside them starts waking up other data nearby, creating a strange team to rescue Desmond.

We can sorta play with this a bit and make Arno, Evie and Jacob become part of Abstergo’s database because they do have data of Arno’s descendants and it makes sense that the reason why the Templars knew where the Shroud is because they can access the twins’ memories as well and the Assassins just stole their DNA for their own Animus instead.

So they get to Desmond who is staying in the Grand Temple, just sitting there, staring at the devices, doubting and double-doubting himself if he should have activated the device when the people who care for him the most asked him not to.

Of course, Abstergo’s anti-virus and probably the entire security system is chasing after them so they don’t have time to actually talk.

They just run.

Well, they sailed using a fusion of the Jackdaw and Aquila…

… into a corrupted part of the West Indies.

The idea was… the virus didn’t harm them but it definitely fucks with Abstergo’s anti-virus and security system.

At the very least, they were hoping it would slow them down.

What they did not expect was for the entire thing to collapse under them…

And drop their modified ship into a different unfamiliar ocean.

“Holy shit!”

Desmond blinked.

“That scared the crap out of me. Goddamn it, Ubisoft. I know this is still being betatesting but Jesus Christ, loading the entire ship and dropping it from above??? What kind of programming does this game have???”

“Lollol. Dude, chill.”

“Is it an enemy ship? Like… can you shoot it?”

“Should you shoot it? Check its level first.”

They were all familiar voices.

“You don’t want a repeat of-”

“Guys?” Desmond asked, his voice a bit too quiet.

Hesitant.

He didn’t dare hope that it was them.

Not all of them.

But some of the ones he was most familiar with.

The ones who stayed with him the most.

“Holy shit.”

“Oh my god, Desmond?!”

“What’s Desmond doing in this game?!”

“Is it our Desmond???”

Desmond’s lips curved into a smile and his voice croaked as he said, “Yeah, I’m your Desmond.”

“Oh my god.”

“Desmond!!! You’re okay!!! We were sooo worried!”

“You think this is [Bored Anonymous]’s work??? Did their plan to use all our computers to try and connect with Desmond’s world and send our gift work?”

“Gift?” Desmond tilted his head.

Did they mean the virus?

He felt someone nudged his arm and he turned to look at Ezio. Everyone else seemed confused but Altaïr, Ezio and Ratonhnhaké:ton seemed to have an idea on who he was talking to.

Wait.

They can hear them!

Before Desmond could tell the voices that everyone could hear them now, one of them said hurriedly, “Oh fuck! Someone get [Bored Anonymous] quickly!”

“Why?”

“I only have 1 more hour to play this beta! What happens to Desmond if he stays in this beta server after the time is up?!! We can’t lose him!”

“Ohshitohshitohshit!”

“I’ll alert the discord server!”

“I’ll try to message them in Tumblr! They’re always online there!”

“Pretty sure that’s their queue…”

“We can still try!”

Desmond simply laughed.

Sure, the time limit they’re talking about was worrying but hearing all of them worrying about him…

It felt like he was finally home.

twins.

especially identical twins were, more often than not, said to be two halves of one soul. occasionally providing a counterbalance to keep them both sane, although this sometimes failed. in a world that had often pushed people past their breaking point, that connection could be both helpful and lethal.

Elladan and Elrohir had always used their twin link to keep themselves in check. more so Elrohir, for reasons that he would prefer to keep just between him and his twin. he had always been the slightly darker of the two, yet neither he nor Elladan had known why.

the younger silver eyed elf pinched the bridge of his nose, trying to ease the blossoming headache without letting anyone see. well. more precisely to stop the Lord of Imladris from seeing. although his father was surrounded by elves visiting the Hidden Valley, so no one would hopefully notice him slipping away from the event.

the blinding pain in his head faded a bit as he left the Last Homely House and stepped into the cool outside air. thankfully barely anyone had been out that night, most enjoying the party inside. a small smile didn't ease the concern in the waiting stablemaster's gaze. but as normal, nothing was said.

for this wasn't the first time that Elrohir had disappeared into the wilderness outside of Imladris during a party. but his absence was rarely noticed, since he always returned before anyone woke up and Elladan covered for him if anyone asked.

given that the younger twin rarely came to breakfast the day after a party was held, it wasn't unusual that no one saw him that morning. the afternoon was a different matter as the twins had meant to be training with Glorfindel but neither of them had shown up.

Howdy! I saw your tnmn pirate au and was wondering how the world is structured. How did these people from different walks (er swims?) of life end up in the same place on or near the boat?

OH SHIT Y'ALL ARE EATING GOOD TONIGHT BECAUSE I HAVE SO MUCH LORE FOR THIS AU

SO FUCKLE UP BECAUSE BECAUSE THERE'S GONNA BE A LOT

Right so lets begin with the setting and when and where everything takes place.

The AU is set in 1755, kings and queens rule many lands and was the golden age of pirates. The crew comes from multiple different backgrounds, poor, middle class, upper class, you name it!

Mermaids, Sirens (the doppelgangers in this AU), and Harpies aren't believed to be real, as the sailors who have seen them could provide no evidence. Cameras are a HUGE LUXURY item that none of them could even afford so not a single soul was believed. However some folks believed in these stories but have inevitably mixed them all up as time goes by (it's why nobody can agree on if Sirens are mermaids or bird people or just a type of mischievous creature of the seas), and as of the AUs present date nobody has gotten a sighting of any of these creatures.

Mermaids and Harpies only go to sailors, usually to mess with them a bit because a majority of the time they're just there to have fun. Sirens however? Their only goal is to satisfy their everlasting hunger by either; shape shifting into crew members so they can board, or luring them into dangerous waters and crash their ships against jagged rocks. Not many have survived sirens, as days if not months of being alone with nothing but rations and sea water will kinda fuck you up a bit mentally and physically, and to catch one you have to identify if they are or are not your crewmate.

Their shape shifting capabilities has ALSO added to the mix up of sirens, harpies, and mermaids and who is who. Sirens will eat mermaids to gain their power to sing hypnotic melodies, and eat Harpies for their ability to fly and their ability to create storms.

Mermaids and Harpies both have the capability to take on human forms! However this ability will usually mean they don't have the ability to sing or create storms. Sometimes if they're lucky they'll have both! But that's a rarity.

But back to sirens, due to the many sailors and pirates who see them, pirates and sailors have begun implementating and assigning an important role to certain members of the crew! The D.D.D or rather the S.D.S (Siren Detection specialist) is a person (typically a look out, medic, or first mate) who is made to run check ups and examinations on crew members to make sure no Sirens have snuck on board... Yeah uh these guys die. A lot.

Character lore!!!!

Right so lets get on to the lore for each of the (currently drawn) crew members!

Angus and Izaack

Angus grew up in the lower parts of the unnamed city they once lived in, while Izaack grew up in the upperclass as his father was a nobleman. Still the two did everything together growing up. To try and earn Angus some extra cash when he went out to swindle money out of unsuspecting upperclassmen, Izaack would take some "cheap" jewelry nobody would miss and give it to Angus to sell!

This tactic could no longer work as well when they became adults though because Izaack's parents would lose their money gradually. So because Angus was on the verge of living on the streets and his buddy was slowly losing funds, he came up with an idea, the two of them could take a ship, go on an exploration around the world to find hidden treasures, and return home and live the rest of their lives with new found wealth! So they snuck on a Navy ship and set sail. Should be no problem right? No. Angus and Izaack stole it in the middle of the day and now their whole town thinks Angus kidnapped the nobleman's son and there's now a bounty on his head. They're (somehow) making it work though! Angus is the captain and Izaack is the first mate!

The twins

Selenne and Elenois are actually insanely powerful and rich women! However they have tricked the local land population into believing they're humans, as they are a mermaid and harpy respectfully! They get their insane riches from stealing from other pirate ships or from shipwrecks and trade the valuables they find! They have made an alliance with Angus and his crew because they help each other out! Both twins live on land and have Margrette sew their outfits for them (she's their only staff member who is aware they are not human)

Nacha, Francis, and Anastacha

Nacha came from a middle class family who wanted her to marry a wealthy man and live lavishly, while Nacha wanted to explore the world, find true love, and be free from her overbearing family.

Francis is a mermaid who came from an under sea kingdom which... He's not very interested in going back to if he's completely honest. His kingdom was full of festivals, parties, and celebrations galore, Francis just wanted quiet.

The two met one fateful night and fell in love, they dated for a bit, Francis pulled a little Mermaid, and Nacha married him! However because Nacha married a low class man, who doesn't even fucking wear shoes, she got disowned. But to them, it didn't matter. They had Anastacha and were happy!

Slowly though they fell out of love and ended their marriage and relationship on very friendly and sweet terms.

Now Nacha and Anastacha live in a small cottage while Francis visits whenever he can and supports his daughter!

However Nacha and Anastacha were kicked out of the family will years ago. Nacha was struggling to make an income, Francis was trying to support in any way he could, and Anastacha felt completely powerless to do anything. So when Anastacha found Angus' boat hiding as they began to stock up on supplies she took the opportunity to set sail and return to her mother with riches beyond their comprehension, becoming a stowaway.

When Nacha noticed her daughter was gone she and Francis searched for her until they saw her on the pirate ship as it set sail and raced to rescue her.

Now all 3 family members, to their shock, are the new (and before Mia and Afton, only) members of the Cipprianni crew!

Mia and Afton

Their story is very simple! They're a simple, lovey dovey, newly wedded couple looking for adventure and excitement! As they want to spend the best years of their lives together in the most entertaining and adventurous way yet, joining a pirate crew! They promise to aid the crew in their endeavors for as long as they need, after all they have the entire ocean and skies to explore together, so why not get started?

So really quick just because I wanna make it clear: there's no canon ships in this AU!!! Other than the previously established relationship of Nacha and Francis ofc, nothing is canon, if you wanna draw Francis with Angus or Izaack with your oc, I don't mind! Go for it! Have fun! Just because I draw a shit ton of DairyWheel doesn't mean you can't still draw your favorite ship.
