sorry y'all (not sorry) I just heard about the "unemployed friend" meme and I gotta say, yeah, I'm the unemployed friend.

i'm on an actually surprisingly livable disability pension (yippie, till they slash it) so when I'm not busy doing ALL the shit I need to keep my fairly low standard of living up by jumping through all sorts of hoops, polishing psych ward and doctors office doorknobs and begging the government to let me live another year I'm THAT unemployed friend

things I've done within the last year or so that are a bit random but cool:

clean up a bunch of fashy graffiti and stickers just as I walk around town on my silly little mental health walks

ask a local retirement home for a ladder to get rid of some particularly nasty stickers WAY up high (prolly shouldn't tell them I'm a LITTLE mobility impaired and def shouldn't be doing those kinds of impromptu acrobatics)

repair a bench in front of a grocery store that senior citizens sit on a lot that became a safety hazard because it was broken and the store claimed it was "the city's" and the city claimed it was "the store's"... i just went there with a powered drill and some screws and fixed that shit

helped a neighbor do some laundry just cause, also learned that the washer/dryer situation in the building is shit so I offered my personal washer/dryer for use

removed some fash graffiti that was on the back of the door of a government office only for the gov workers there to proclaim me the savior of the broken or some shit which made for a very funny conversation as I stood there with my "acab antifascist" punk patches

first email then call a local government branch incessantly to tell them about ALL the ways their website is fucking broken and inaccessible, then got to talking with them about the specifics which they said they'd relay to their IT department which then proceeded to email me back to let me know their website's fucking broken links are "client side" (sure lol)

paid for some guy's bus fare and had an argument with the bus driver who wouldn't let me use my "my support worker rides for free with me" bus pass cause that random old man who doesn't speak good German "isn't my support worker" when the bus driver was about to call the cops on me for "fraud" I just smacked down my pay card and was like "okay I'll pay for him then", the old man then blessed me and said I'm going to heaven and my "husband... or wife" is very lucky to have me

almost got mugged but when I joked with the 4 guys surrounding me while talking to me aggressively they suddenly eased up and were like "you're cool, actually" to which I responded with "haha cool I thought I was gonna get mugged" to which they replied "you were" so I just smiled politely and walked away in a leisurly pace

given a guy some rolling tobacco, papers and no cigarette filters because he doesn't like the taste and been given a VERY expensive chocolate in return because I refused his loose change in return for the loose handful of tobacco and 1 rolling paper, I offered him the whole open bag of tobacco and he said no he doesn't smoke

removed ANOTHER shitty graffiti (there's too many of those, geez) and got asked by a guy if I'm "from city council" (imagine me, wearing combat boots, a punk vest and covered in tattoos) which I responded to by saying I deny any such allegations. man who asked thought that was very funny and asked if I take tips, I said I don't, he was disappointed and left.

So yeah, I do a little mischief and a little community service when I can

After years of being together, Dazai notices he’s been gaining some weight, and his thinness is no longer visible.

Dazai has never felt at home with his body, but he also never cared about his size, or weight. He had much darker things to fill his time and days with than obsessing over his meatsac. His mind, his dark thoughts, his past, the blood on his hands, Odasaku.

When he started his relationship with you, it was all intense and consuming at first. Over the months, that passion has simmered into a softer slow loving. More deeply intimate.

Slowly his days merged with yours and your routines incorporated his. He especially loved when you’d make Korean sandwiches and shape the eggs into heart shapes. You were as much of a sap as he was. 

Osamu also started eating lunch. Not necessarily because he wanted to or he was hungry. But because he hated that sad disappointed look on your face when he didn’t eat the lunch you packed him. He saved all your notes and drawings, and he would share his meal with the young detective if he was having a particularly bad day and just couldn’t bring himself to eat.

When he got back home, all he wanted to do was sink into the couch and hug you and never let go. You’d whine about having dinner together and like a hopeless man in love he’d indulge you, even if it was a little treat. His favourite treat to indulge in was you. Ever the corny horny man he is. 

Over the years of being together he had noticed a drastic change in his eating habits. The biggest one being he actually eats now. 

And with eating, and a good loving, he inevitably noticed the weight he gained.

He’s not bothered by it. He’s even fascinated by the new softness of his body. And he’s flourishing in the added attention you give him. You seem to like this new weight. More of him to love, you tell him with a sweet kiss to his lips.

i'm so loved by the people in my life that they'll take care of me. they don't make me feel guilty and constantly remind me that what i bring to their lives, just by being, is worth more than money. i know my worth isn't determined by my ability to contribute to a capitalist system. i get to make art, learn and read about whatever i want, explore nature, care for the people and little creatures in my life. i get to rest when i'm sick and tired. i get to live for joy. i'm am fr that unemployed friend swimming with dolphins at 2pm on a tuesday.

Hahahahha so I've been fired.

After 7 years, 4 in management, what got me fired was advocating for higher wages for my staff, and advocating for my right as a manager to hire to fill the open positions at my own store rather than rely on "floating" employees who are filling in at other stores as well. What got me fired was pointing out their unfair hiring practices where wages were concerned when none of us had had raises in 2 years.

There is always a chance when you go to upper management with your problems that they see you as the issue for not staying in your lane. I'm only truly upset that they not only fired me, but fired my entire staff as a way of wiping the slate clean to more align with their "new" values. My employees worked hard, gave excellent service and were trusted by the community that shopped for their pets with us. I had very high standards and they all met it.

When I started working for this company it was a smaller family owned company. Now it's just another corporate monster owned by some California business man with more money than sense about what average people are looking for in their shopping experience. They'd rather hire all new staff for more than they were paying us, then give us raises and utilize the accumulated knowledge and relationships we have with our customers.

Anyway, I have interviews scheduled and will get my unemployment benefits but in the meantime. If ya like if ya can....

I'd really appreciate it 😊

Sometimes I wish I knew someone who could code and write in Ren'Py because I've been getting into visual novels lately, and I have so many ideas for some.
