Dinner with Manny
(MASTERLIST FOR THIS STORY)
Lina was greeting all her students in her classroom, but she took her phone out when she felt her Apple watch vibrate. When she looked down, she saw a text from Manny telling her good morning and that he hoped that she had a good day today, then another text from Janine letting her know that her presentation for Jacob was coming for an ASL interpreter to come in and help the student out. She smiled and quickly responded to both texts before putting her phone away and focused on teaching. Her students were paying attention today, filling her with joy as she took in their faces.
It was recess, and Lina went to the gym/lunch area to oversee the students and see Barbara and Melissa together at the center. She approached them but stopped when she saw Tariq walk into the room.
“What is Tariq doing here?” Lina asked as she stared at her friend’s ex-boyfriend wave at Barbara.
“I forgot to mention that Tariq is now the father of one of the students in my class,” Barbara said.
“Janine was pregnant?” Lina asked.
“I got so good at ignoring Janine that I never noticed she was pregnant,” Melissa continued scrolling through her phone.
“That child does not have a child. Tariq is just dating the student’s mother,” Barbara looked at both of the women.
“He’s not a father. He’s just a male figure in that child’s life until he leaves,” Lina shrugged, “There is a difference between a father, male figure, and dad,”
“Amen to that, sister,” Melissa said.
“Hey, Mrs. Howard. Hey, mean Italian lady. Hey, Lina,” Tariq smiled as he approached the trio.
“Tariq, you cannot keep showing up here unannounced,” Barbara said.
“Ok, but it’s an emergency. I accidentally took TJ’s lunch and gave him mine, so I’mma just switch these out real quick,” Tariq placed the brown bag on the table in front of a student and grabbed the Lunchable out of the kid’s hands, “Thank you. And I’m out of your hair,”
“That is a lunchable,” Barbara pointed out.
“And it is delicious,” Tariq said, “Alright, have a good day, Junior,”
“You’re not my dad!” The little boy said.
“That boy is hilarious, and he gets that from me. Bye, y’all,” Tariq ate the lunchable.
Lina rolled her eyes and stood around the gym until it was time for her to take her kids back to class. Then, she took her phone out to see Manny, who had texted her again, so she continued texting him with a smile on her face.
“Who’s got you all smitten there?” Melissa asked with a smirk.
“Nobody,” Lina pulled her face together with a stoic look again.
“Bull. I saw you smiling at your face and texting someone,” Melissa said.
“Ok, I’m texting Manny,” Lina caved.
“Manny as in the district, Manny?” Barbara asked.
Lina nodded.
“Traitor,” Melissa smirked.
“Whatever,” Lina softly smirked and chuckled.
It was the end of school, and Lina was high-fiving her class as they left to their parents, so she quickly cleaned up her class when Jacob popped into her class.
“Hey, wanna go to Ruben’s with Janine and me?” Jacob asked.
“I can’t. I got like two classes at school tonight,” Lina said.
Jacob nodded and bid his byes before walking out,, so Lina quickly grabbed her belongings and left the school. She jumped into her car and began her way to school. Manny called her as she parked in the parking lot.
“Hey, you,” Lina said as she gathered her school bag.
“Hey, you,” Manny’s voice rang through her phone, “how was your day?”
“It was good. My students were angels today, and I’m at school to go to my two classes tonight, so it’s an overall good but busy day,”
“That’s good. What time does your classes end?” Manny asked.
“It ends around 8ish,” Lina responded as she stopped at the door of her class.
“Ok. Would you be interested in grabbing some dinner with me? Nothing too fancy or anything,” Manny’s nervous voice rang.
“Yeah, sure. What are you thinking?” Lina asked, “Because. I’m not gonna lie. I got some food at home that I can cook up for both of us,”
“That doesn’t sound fair. I’m the one that invited you out,” Manny protested.
“It’s ok. I love cooking,”
“That's okay if you insist. Text me your address, and I’ll see you at 8:30, " Manny said.
“Yeah, see you,” Lina grinned before hanging up and skipping into her class.
Hours seemed to be passing slowly as she looked at the clock, anticipating it would be over so she could head home and look presentable for her guests. Time had finally caught up, and she went to her place at 8:15. She rushed inside and into the shower. When she got out, her phone read 8:25, so she ran to her closet, grabbed a lounge dress that hugged her figure in the right places, and put on her slippers.
When she was fully ready, she heard a knock on the door. She rushed to the door and opened it to see Manny in a nice short-sleeve button-up shirt, dark pants, and Jordan 1ss.
“Hey! I was just about to grab all the ingredients from the fridge,” Lina smiled, letting him in.
“Great! What are we making?” Manny asked.
“We?” Lina asked.
“Yeah. I figured we could cook together, seeing as though I'm the one who asked you to dinner again,” Manny stated.
“Ok. We are doing something different. We’re gonna be eating some Korean barbecue,” Lina smiled, “I already had the meat marinating as well as prepped the side dishes and everything,”
“I never had Korean barbecue,” Manny said, “Also, I never said it, but you look absolutely stunning tonight,”
“It’s only a lounge dress,” Lina blushed.
Their night was deemed successful, and Lina blushed furiously at the end. However, nothing more had happened, and Manny was out the door by 10:30. This left Lina confused about whether it was a date or not, so she deemed it just a dinner with a friend.
The next day, the school day came and went, and Lina was grateful that it was over because it had been stressful for her. It had looked up when she saw a text from Manny informing her that Janine, him, and Simon were going out for drinks later. She asked if she wanted to go. She responded with a yes and packed her bag to head home and get ready to leave again. When she was done, Manny texted her that they were on their way, so she smiled and ran out the door.
“Manny, who are we waiting for?” Janine asked when she noticed Manny kept looking at the door.
“Oh, we’re waiting for Lina,” Manny said.
“Oh! Are you guys like a thing?” Janine asked.
“Maybe. At least I want it to be,” Manny blushed.
At that moment, Lina walked in and caught Manny’s eye, putting him in a trance. She wore flare jeans, a crop top with a black blazer, and some booties. When she got to the table, Manny stood up.
“Want to get a drink?” Manny asked.
“Yeah, sure,” Lina grinned.
The two started walking to the bar, with Manny’s hand on the small of her back, which made her blush. When they got to the bar, the bartender immediately approached them.
“Can I get a tequila pineapple?” Lina asked. The bartender nodded and looked toward Manny. He shook his head and gave him his card. “Why’d you do that? I could’ve got it,”
“What? And let a beautiful girl get her own drink with her own money? Nah, my mom raised me better than that,” Manny grinned.
“Well, your mom sounds like a great woman. I remember you telling me that she was a teacher and all the struggles she went through, especially with being a single mom,” Lina said, “I hope I get to meet her some day,”
“Yeah?” Manny smiled, “Maybe that will happen. I was wondering, would you maybe wanna go on an actual date with me?”
Lina looked at him with a dumbfounded look, “Really? Me?”
“Yeah, who else,” Manny looked around jokingly.
“Yeah, of course,” Lina grinned as the bartender set her drink down, and the two joined Simon and Janine at the table.
When they slid into the same side of the booth, Manny casually threw an arm to rest on the headboard behind her and secretly played with her hair. The table cheered to celebrate Janine’s win in getting Jacob an ASL translator, and they all had a fun time afterward.

It really is SO funny (and meaningful, actually, if you think about it) to me that Stanley was the only member of the Pines family who was never able to be manipulated by Bill.
Stan's paranoia and distrusting attitude served him in the best way possible. Yeah, it sucks that he was basically cut off from forming lasting positive relationships up until he moved into Ford's shack in Gravity Falls, but MAN, that was kind of a small price to pay when you realize he unknowingly kept himself protected from one of the most dangerous entities in all of space-time by having that mindset and keeping his walls up all those years.
Can you imagine how fucking disastrous things could've turned out if Bill had gotten to him? Successfully infiltrated Stan's dreams, utilized his connection to Ford to his devious advantage as a bargaining chip, and used Stan for all he's worth to orchestrate Weirdmageddon his way? Ford spent 30 years hiding from Bill, constructing the quantum destabilizer, and putting all his energy into taking him out - to prevent him from meddling in the lives of those he cares about and to protect the world from his evil.
But it turns out, all you really have to do to foil Bill is just... not be swayed by him in the first place. There was NO combination of words in the human vocabulary Bill could have said to get Stan on his side at any point in the story, and tbh that's fucking hilarious.
Get fucked little man, you got outsmarted by the '''lesser''' twin, and he didn't even have to put any effort into it at all.
(And as the icing on the cake, he wrecked your sorry ass too. Smashed you to smithereens in one second flat.)
Truly tho, I think Stan is Bill's match. His equal opposing force. The yin to his yang. Essentially, when put together, they cancel each other out, lmao.
And I just know Bill will be forever haunted by that old man. He can make all the pitiful attempts to reach out from the Theraprism all he wants, but even if he were to escape someday, somehow, there is no coming back from that level of pure humiliation. 🤣

Supernatural Involvement and Ominous Signs in ASLFUA
For a while, many readers have theorized that there is some kind of a higher power/higher being in ASLFUA, and looking at the latest episodes it seems to have been confirmed. With this post, I've tried to gather every instance of the higher power's implied presence and all the ominous scenes in the story. I also included foreshadowing scenes that could have made Miae aware of certain things if she had paid attention because coincidences are important in the story, and certain moments that were defining in the plot. The list contains spoilers for the newest KR episodes and it keeps being updated.
Episode 2 :
Miae is reading a book in the library about how the last day of 1999 will be the end of the world: "'1999, a terrifying overlord is coming...the end of the human race.." -> this might be a reference to the famous prophecy of Nostradamus in which in the 7th month of 1999 a great king of terror would descend from the skies (which makes me think...is it July in the story right now?)
The Hwang family's phone stops working
Miae's dresser breaks and therefore she has to take out the trash, where she sees Cheol crying
"This boy is about to be this girl's most special person, someone whom she will never be able to forget."
Episode 3
Miae and her mother visit the Buddha statue and Miae's wish is not to be in the same class with Cheol - it doesn't come true.
Miae, Cheol and Jisu all become classmates in their last year. Miae and Cheol become deskmates by coincidence.
Episode 4
Cheol's furniture becomes Miae's, along with the contents of his dresser, something only he knows about
Episode 5
Yunhui calls Miae on their new cordless phone, the line is interrupted by another conversation, "Did you get the present I sent you?" - it sounds like a message to Miae from the higher power about Cheol
Episode 8
Miae ruins her bangs, her mother says she should do something about her hair - the first time we are told Miae should go to a hairdresser to fix it
Hwanggeum Academy uses corporal punishment - might be relevant later on?
Miae has to go to karaoke so she gives up on going to the hair salon (this foreshadowing is super crazy btw)
Episode 9
Cheol is compared to the protagonist of the comic Miae reads, 'My First Love Next Door Is Number 1' - gets into trouble and transfers, fights the school bully and wins, nicknamed Lucifer, has a facial scar, lives next door
As Miae is thinking about Cheol, her thoughts are interrupted by a cockroach in the classroom
Episode 11
Miae notes how strange it is that she keeps seeing Cheol while they didn't bump into each other the previous year (just like how Jisu later keeps commenting how strange he keeps meeting Miae) - Miae acknowledges the higher power
Yunhui's pager says "between friends goodbye"
Episode 12
Miae has a weird feeling when she's talking to Cheol's shoe as if it understands what she's saying
Tumblr media
Episode 15
In her dream, Miae remembers Cheol crying and her making a wish with a stone tower about how she wants to be his friend. The phone suddenly rings, the TV becomes static and there's a storm outside despite the weather forecast not saying anything about it. The other end of the phone is silent and the lights go out.
Episode 17
Cheol's shoe gets smudged with ink so Miae cannot give it back to him. She cannot concentrate on her practice test, foreshadowing her involvement with Cheol's academy.
Episode 21
Miae again remembers some memories about Cheol saying he doesn't want to be her friend while she's sleeping
Side note: while Soonkki is a great writer, there's some inconsistency about Jisu's seating arrangement. I think she always meant him to sit in Block 1, that's why we got limited panels of that area of the classroom, but his position kept changing until his official introduction. Here, he should have been sitting in front of Seonghan, but there's another boy in that seat. In episode 23, we get a panel of Block1 again, and there's a boy who looks like Jisu from behind in that.
She again remembers her time with Cheol while sleeping on the bus
Episode 24
Daebak Academy notebook says "The teacher is spoon-feeding you, so why can't you pass" -> the higher power is giving hints to Miae, why can't she understand them?
Episode 29
Miae thinks about how she doesn't bump into Cheol as much as before, we get a close-up of the shoe and the Daebak Academy notebook
Episode 37
Miae falls on Cheol while playing soccer
Episode 39
Miae and Cheol are arguing but still bump into each other because of their parents
While Miae thinks about how Cheol should smile at people, she almost gets hit by a ball but Cheol saves her.
Episode 40
Cheol goes to Miae's house to do their homework. Miae's mother says she wonders if it will rain before she leaves. Cheol tries to change the lightbulb in Miae's room, but the lights go out because of the storm. Miae thinks "again?" and they fall on each other. She tells Cheol they should be friends.
Episode 41
Cheol agrees to be Miae's friend and we see a flashback of young Miae wishing they would be friends. While they are doing their homework the rain stops. Miae says planes even fly in the rain and Cheol replies that airplanes fly above the clouds.
Episode 42
Miae answers their phone and the line is interrupted again. Someone thanks their boss for the present and says they will do well on their own from now. -> is it a sign Miae should do well on her own after the hints?
Interesting to note that every time Miae might be involved with the higher power, certain objects in her room are highlighted - Cheol's shoe, the lamp, the notebooks. They all give signs to Miae that she keeps ignoring.
Episode 43
Cheol and Yonghui point out that Miae should get a haircut. Miae ends up cutting it herself instead of going to a salon.
Episode 45
Miae wishes upon a star instead of a plane so that the presentation in class will go okay. This actually comes true, as also noted by the narrator in ep 46.
Episode 46
Daebak Academy booklet says "nothing comes easy"
Episode 47
Something I've noticed is that throughout the story Miae keeps thinking she forgot something, and there's usually a situation that seems like the answer to it. Here, it turns out she forgot about Jinseop's homework. And Taekwang's song is about how someone cannot do both things at the same time. It was the same when she forgot about her homework while playing soccer. Forgetting about things is a recurring plot point for Miae, which culminates in the Jisu subplot where we learn Miae completely forgot about his existence even though she didn't have many friends who were boys.
Episode 50
Cheol's father wants to take a picture of Cheol and Miae, but Cheol refuses
Episode 51
Miae again cuts her own hair and wonders if she cut it too straight
Episode 55
Cheol kicks Miae's pencil into Jisu's chair (side note: you can see here again how Jisu's seating arrangement was inconsistent, he should have been closer to the window)
Episode 56
Miae gets sent out to the corridor with Jisu
Miae's friends talk about handsome boys and someone mentions the number1 student (Jisu)
Episode 60
Jisu becomes Miae's folk dance partner - the first time Cheol and Miae are not doing something together
Episode 61
Hwanggeum Academy booklet says "there's nothing you can't do if you put the work in, do not expect a miracle" when Miae is struggling with the dance
Episode 65
Cheol's father takes a picture of Cheol and Miae after the sports festival
Episode 66
In Miae's dream, Cheol's sister says for a while means 5-6 yrs, Miae counts she will be in middle school by then. There's also a memory of Miae running after Cheol, saying "wait for me".
Miae's mother tells her to get a haircut but Miae replies she needs a bigger allowance for it.
The narrator says Miae should watch where she's walking after she bumps into Cheol.
Episode 67
Miae loses her name tag and Jisu finds it
Episode 70
Miae wonders how her wishes never come true, but remembers she also made one with the stone tower as a kid, but cannot recall what it was about.
Episode 71
Miae's mom notes their phone keeps ringing since yesterday. The day before Miae wanted to tease Cheol with how she heard him saying he "loved her" in the shop and she saw him shirtless the same night.
Miae doesn't realize it was Jisu who called her a pervert
Episode 72
Miae notices someone wearing her name tag (Jisu), but doesn't find the culprit
Episode 75
Cheol wants to ask Miae something, but the homeroom teacher interrupts. Miae and Jisu get called to the teachers' room and have to do cleaning duty together for a week.
Episode 76
We see Miae's mom at a hair salon - could the lady in orange be Jisu's mother? who knows
Episode 77
Cheol stands up for Miae, but when Honggyu asks if they are dating, they both vehemently deny it. It suddenly starts raining.
Episode 78
Miae and cheol promise to be friends for real, forever. The narration comments, "But will they end up regretting their promise?". The rain stops. "1999, the final year of the century is half over" -> Miae's story is half over at this point. I have pointed out this before, but the series seems to be about the transition period between childhood and young adulthood, symbolized by the last year before the new millennium. Hence the title, 'green apple academy'
In her dream, Miae remembers asking Cheol if they are friends. She is awoken by their phone. the Daebak Academy notebook says "you are in danger if you are relaxed" and we see a girl talking to Cheol.
Episode 81
Cheol and Miae fall on each other and almost kiss, but the phone rings. Later, they do end up in the same position with an accidental kiss.
Episode 82
Miae wants to confront Cheol about the kiss and gets embarrassed, but her actions are interrupted when the trash bag she gave Jisu splits open, spilling its contents. Miae runs to him to collect it.
Episode 83
While Miae talks to her friends, she thinks back on her memories with Cheol and the narration says "I always liked.." and Miae looks surprised by it.
Episode 86
Interesting detail that Cheol doesn't know why Miae keeps looking at airplanes. If we assume she has a reason for doing it from the past, it's likely not related to Cheol.
Episode 87
Miae uses the trashbag as an excuse to run away from Cheol, repeating how she has to throw it out. All of a sudden, Jisu appears and takes it out of her hand, giving her a chance to run. It's just my personal theory that the trashbag here symbolizes Miae's vulnerability and reluctance to face her feelings, and Jisu takes it from her hand. It makes sense when we remember how his words made her think about her actions when she wanted to interrupt the confession. It's a great early foreshadowing that Jisu might play an important role in Miae's growth story as her voice of reason.
Episode 89
Cheol and Miae take photos together in a photo booth, first with Jinseop and Song-I, then the two of them alone. We don't know if Miae still has her pictures, but we can assume she somehow lost them during running around from the bullies because we never see them again. Cheol gives her a new name tag in the next episode.
Episode 95
Cheol gifts Miae an airplane model for her birthday. I personally believe this episode marks the end of the first part of the story and it's a turning point, but more about this under ep96.
While Miae leaves for school, their phone suddenly rings and her mom answers it. Miae sees posters about love on her way to school. For the first time, Jisu arives early for cleaning duty.
Episode 96
The series has had 2 symbolic illustrations at the end of 2 episodes. The first one was at the end of ep2, when Cheol and Miae's story started in the present:
Tumblr media
Miae is offering a green apple to Cheol - a biblical allusion, here, the green apple probably signifies how Miae helps Cheol in the first part of the story to mature and grow as a person with her own knowledge.
Tumblr media
This illustration comes at the end of ep96. Like I mentioned, I believe this marks the start of the second half of the story which focuses on Miae's growth as a person. Space is an important concept in the series, Miae also has planet stickers on the wall of her room, has a charm on her bag, etc.
"16 years old. An age much like the universe." "16 years old. An age where it's like you're thrown into space." - highlights the narration.
But why is it compared to space? We have the illustration right after Jisu splashes water on Miae's face and Cheol wakes up from his dream. In my opinion, it's because this is where these kids' limited worlds start to expand. In part 1, Cheol and Miae were mainly together, but as you grow up you start to feel like you're just one insignificant part of a greater whole. You might feel like you're the center of the universe when you're a teenager, and that the world is ending when you experience negative emotions, but as the illustration shows us, it's not just Miae and Cheol standing alone in the universe. There are other people, facing different directions, but they are all interconnected by an invisible force. Miae is looking at Cheol, but Jisu is standing in her shadow- because even though she was not aware of him, Jisu had his own life happening parallel to what we saw in part1, and this is where he starts to have an intersection with Miae. If there is a higher power in the story, it is aware of all these connections and talks about youth in a nostalgic way. The sense that these moments are fleeting is always present in the story, however, connections formed between individuals will always have a lasting impact, just like how the universe will continue to exist. Being thrown into space might feel like losing your footing, but here it's the personal relationships that ground these teenagers and make them stay close to Earth.
Episode 98
The teacher tells Miae to cut her hair after Jisu takes the blame for ruining the plant.
Cheol is acting strange because of his dream, and while Jisu looks at Miae the narration box says: "16 years old. An age riddled with the unknown, just like the universe."
Episode 99
Miae's hair gets stuck in the zipper of Cheol's bag and he pulls it out, ruining her bangs in the process. They go to the infirmary after Miae gets scratched by the zipper.
Episode 100
At the countryside, while Miae picked a flower she thought how nice it would be if Cheol came to her school - and it became true. She thinks how it was so strange -> Miae again unknowingly acknowledges the higher power when it comes to Cheol
Episode 101
It's raining and the TV is not working in Cheol's home. He remembers taking a picture with Miae in the countryside. He asks his father about the picture on the sports day -> the data was lost. Miae gets grounded by her mother and she wants her to quit the academy.
Episode 102
I've mentioned symbolic objects in the story, but this one was noted by other readers as well: in ep 101, Miae accidentally drops the chalkboard eraser out of the window and Jisu fails to catch it - but Cheol does. However, in this episode Miae tosses it back to Jisu before saying she hopes they'll never see each other again (it's the first, but not the last time she declares it).
Cheol fails to convince Miae's mom about the academy -> Miae's mom points out Miae's grades have been dropping since last year. She makes her stance clear - she wants Miae to study.
Episode 103
It's raining and Miae cannot open Cheol's drawer in her room.
She tries to cut her hair, but the phone rings. On the other line, Miae hears someone saying "I only did what I did because you wanted it so bad, but you screwed up that chance! You don't deserve that project, I'm going to hand it to someone else." -> the first time the higher power tries to directly say Miae is late
Miae's mom cuts her hair instead of sending her to a salon...
Miae loses the name tag Cheol gave her
Episode 104
Jisu says "see you again" to Miae (and will keep saying for a while lol). Miae points out she never wanted to see him again.
Episode 106
After the teacher discovers their conversations in class, Miae and Cheol get separated and Miae becomes Jisu's deskmate. Miae and Cheol are not allowed to interact until the final exams are over.
Hwanggeum Academy's notebook remarks "Do you regret it now?"
Episode 107
Miae dreams about the flower from the countryside and a voice says she should hurry up and do what she wants about her wish if she remembers. She doesn't remember and the voice gets angry, Cheol appears and crushes the flower, telling her if she doesn't remember she should just forget it. The voice remarks Cheol is angry because Miae is late.
Episode 111
Jisu, who has also become aware of the coincidences, tells Cheol he's not the only one having something special with Miae.
When Miae calls Jisu her friend from the same class and tells him he should learn for himself, Jisu tries to say something, but he is interrupted by Cheol.
Episode 112
Miae thinks about their bet and how she should ask something serious, something more than friends do from Cheol, and we get a bunch of error messages. Cheol's dream is all fuzzy.
Jisu wins the bet, but we never get to know his wish because Miae gets angry at him.
Episode 115
The narration points out Cheol has changed and matured a lot, is it Miae's turn?
Episode 116
We see some posters about a summer festival, the forest in Midsummer Night's Dream and how everything is the product of coincidence.
Tumblr media
The forest in Shakespeare's play is dominated by the supernatural - what we have in common with this story is the forest Miae and Cheol played together as kids, and obviously the involvement of a higher power. The coincidences poster is possibly a reference to Carl Jung's Synchronicity, a concept that states that seemingly meaningful coincidences have a deeper meaning, they don't have a rational explanation - almost like destiny, a deeper order in the universe. It's a connection between one's psyche and the material world (so you have to notice and acknowledge the deeper meaning of these coincidences in order to experience synchronicity). Jung used this to argue for the existence of the paranormal. For example, if you cannot decide something, you might come across a book on the topic. What a coincidence, right? In this interpretation, everything is interconnected in the universe, and we are a part of this web of connections. So those coincidences...were actually not coincidences. -> Hmmmmm.....I wonder.....meaningful coincidences, the universe, connections...why do they sound familiar??? BECAUSE OUR STORY IS EXACTLY ABOUT THIS NOTION! Who notices these coincidences? Miae about Cheol, Jisu about Miae....One has to be open to the possibility of the connection between our inner world and the outside world, only then they can start to notice the signs the universe is sending them. Soonkki, you deserve my applause! Because it was exactly what I said about the art at the end of ep 96 and the placement of the characters. Mind? Blown!
Miae thinks that she feels something is wrong
Yunhui's pager says friends goodbye
Jisu gets involved in the Yonghui-Yunhui storyline by coincidence
Episode 117
We see all the coincidences from Jisu's perspective and how he became aware of them. And what does he say about them? That they are fascinating and kind of funny! My boy Jisu got the synchronicity message.
This is the 3rd time Miae and Jisu didn't hold hands. The first time Miae pretended to help him up, only for him to fall back. Then Jisu held out his hand after the exam, but she didn't take it. Here, he again reaches out and Miae doesn't take his hand. Remember this later!
Episode 118
Someone steps on Cheol's bag, and he's worried it might be Taeuk
Jisu wants to join in another bet in exchange for his help
Episode 119
Jisu gets involved in the Shim storyline, and as we know from later he picks up the cigarettes to get revenge on him
Episode 122
Miae learns that Cheol rejected Seonyeong and the lights flicker in her room
She cannot remember her dream. The narration says that she should have realized that something changed.
Episode 123
Miae notes that she experienced the kiss in the comic book with Cheol
Jisu almost catches her, but Cheol pushes him away
Episode 126
The parents are having dinner together at a pig feet restaurant and toast for the future of their children. The TV is not working, and a boy who looks like Jisu tries to fix it.
Miae kisses Cheol
Episode 127
Miae has a dream again in the white dress. As she realizes she might like Cheol, the voice says she's too late and there's no use regretting it.
Episode 129
Miae remembers that they took a picture in the countryside together and wants to take one now. She makes a wish to an airplane about how she just wants one photo, and remarks that the planes never granted her wish before. Spoiler, they won't this time, either.
Miae chooses to take the picture with Cheol. The narration box says "she's always done whatever she sets her mind to. That has always been one of her better attributes. But Mi-ae, it seems as though you keep forgetting something. I told you, you're too late."
The pager's message means idiot, cancelled and it suddenly starts raining. Maie and Cheol cannot take their photo and Cheol cannot give her back the hairpin she dropped a few eps ago.
Episode 132
Graduation photos were postponed until the second semester
In Miae's dream, the voice says she's all over the place and cannot decide what she wants from Cheol. In her memory, Miae wishes at the stone tower that Cheol would like her back. The voice angrily remarks how it must not mean much to her.
Episode 133
While Cheol and Miae are looking at each other, Miae is smacked in the face by a flyer. Later while they are riding the bike, Cheol almost says she looks pretty but he is hit in the face with a flyer that belonged to Jisu.
Episode 134
Miae takes the cigarettes from Jisu and puts them in her backpack
While Jisu and Miae look at each other, the narration box says "Well. this is what we would call fate. What do you think?" Miae can sense the voice and dismisses it.
Jisu again says "see you later" and Miae answers let's not, but Jisu replies they never know and it would be fun.
On the radio in Miae's room there's a voice speaking, asking if it was a success and how there is something you can't stop thinking about. "A friend? The fact that you weren't wrong? Whatever it is, I don't think it's such a bad thing to obsess over it a little bit. I hope you have no regrets about it."
Episode 135
Miae's eyebrow and bangs are so ruined she has to finally go to a hair salon. Yunhui gives her money and says there's a cheap place where she can go. It turns out Jisu's mother is a hairdresser and after realizing she is Jisu's friend, she doesn't ask for money. So if anyone ever wondered why Miae kept ruining her hair in the story, here's the answer....
a little bit of strange wording here:
Tumblr media
The narration says "Now that I think about it, this was about the time..wait,no, it was a little bit earlier that things started to go wrong, little by little. You two were completely oblivious, though. Just you two."
Miae's mother goes to the academy. One theory I can give on this is that Miae's family might be moving. She wished for it at the start of the story, mentions it in a later episode as well. Who knows ~
Episode 138
Miae doesn't tell Cheol her feelings because of her pride as she feels like she would lose first
Miae has a feeling as if something is trying to make her look bad in front of Cheol and her gun suddenly starts working
Everybody forgot to buy the picture they took together in ep 139
Episode 140
After conveying their feelings indirectly to each other, Miae tells Cheol they cannot date right now because her mom wouldn't allow it. She plans to go to the same high school, university, everything and thinks there's no one to stop them so nothing can go wrong.
Episode 141
Cheol imagines high school together with Miae and their friends
Every time Cheol is flustered, he accidentally drinks his sister's coffee and he cannot sleep at night..in a story where dreams are relevant I'm sure this is just a coincidence, right???🧐🙃😏
Miae says they should not be obvious before the entrance exam and they start to think of it as a competition
Someone watches them from the street
Episode 144-145
We get everything from Cheol's POV
Cheol got his scar because he wanted to give Miae the romance book she liked before they left and he fell on the stone tower
The picture his dad took of them is about a young Cheol accidentally kneeling with flowers in his hands, the same flowers from Miae's dream, in front of Miae. This picture was in the book Cheol and his family kept.
Cheol realized the book was in his dresser that is now in Miae's room, the one she couldn't open before
Episode 146
Miae sees two flyers in the newspaper, one is about how a student still didn't give it up, the other is about changing one's car
On the street, the same car ads keep flying after her in the wind
Miae goes with Yonghui to wait in a line and the same flyers are all over the place
Episode 147
Miae wants to call Cheol, but Jisu stops her. Miae notices how often they have met during vacation, and Jisu says these coincidences are fun. He remarks it's almost like as if some higher power is involved (!!). Miae is standing on the car ad, they look down on it with Jisu, then she kicks it away. Jisu tells her he has a feeling they will meet again, but Miae hopes they won't.
The academy is also full of the car ads and Miae falls on them
Miae thinks that for a while she's had a feeling as if something wants to get between her and Cheol, but brushes it off
Miae ends up with a bubble gum in her hair and goes to Jisu's house to fix it. Jisu tells her she should stay because he is bored, and there is a car ad on a stool.
Episode 148
We see some of Jisu's childhood memories and he was called a magpie by Miae which was a symbolic choice (I also made a post about it). Jisu in this story is the grateful magpie.
Miae and Jisu "touch hands" for the first time when they high-five (I wrote about how their hand hold never happened before)
After spotting some men smoking, Jisu tells Miae to go inside (one of them might be his father?)
Episode 149
Miae finally remembers Jisu
the narration boxs keeps saying how Jisu is cool and showing heart-thumping sounds and Miae is confused about these strange things
Miae not remembering Jisu was an important plot point considering she recalled everyone else from her past. As I theorized, memories and fate seem to be intertwined, the synchronicity theory also supports this. Synchronicity happens when seemingly unrelated events coincide and they become significant to you. It's easy to see why Jisu was aware of this notion, but Miae was not - because Miae had no idea about those coincidences other than meeting Jisu randomly. Him being her classmate, being the one who found her pencil, who helped her in the crowd, found her name tag, etc. - only Jisu knew about these. But right now, Miae was made aware that they knew each other in the past - a pretty big coincidence.
So now that Miae might have kickstarted her own fate, the question is whether she will be able to fight it or if there are certain things bound to happen no matter what. Is the narrator omnipotent and omniscient? So many questions that will hopefully get answered.
Episode 150
For the first time, Miae says she and Jisu will see each other again sometime. Before this, it was always Jisu who said it and Miae would reply that she didn't want to meet him again.
Miae remembers Jisu transferring, but doesn't know why he singled her out (so she will probably recall more memories later)
As Miae leaves Jisu's house, the car ads are flying in the air around her
Jisu enrolls at the academy and for the first time he says it's not a coincidence
Episode 155
Hwani tells her mother it would be great if they could keep being neighbours with Miae because she's fun. After a pause, Cheol's mother agrees.
Jisu keeps telling Miae she's a "traitor" or "bat" (depending on the translation, meaning she keeps secrets from others like the Yonghui Yunhui situation and the fact that she went to Jisu's house) and she might get into trouble because of that
Episode 156
The narrator directly communicates with Miae again, and informs us about Miae's thoughts. It makes heart-thumping sounds when she's with Jisu just like in previous episodes, but Miae ignores them.
Jisu again says how the coincidences are so fun. He counts to three until the teacher interrupts Miae and Cheol's bickering (similarly to Taekwang in ep 158)
When Jisu tells Miae he'll go out of the room to let her talk with Cheol, Miae thinks she'll talk to him regardless of anyone's interference and we get a close-up of an academy notebook saying 'NO' and a plane flying in the sky.
Episode 158
Flashforward in the episode to a scene with Cheol leaving Miae at the academy while a storm is coming and Miae looks like she's about to cry
An hour earlier in the story the dark clouds are already gathering (I mentioned how rainy weather is always connected to the change in Miae and Cheol's relationship, and how it's usually an ominous sign). After seeing Jisu's flustered face, Cheol tells Miae that he wants to change the lightbulb in her house before she gets hurt. The lights at the academy are highlighted as they keep vibrating. (I also noted how the lights are signs of the supposed higher power, they get their own panels in Miae's room, and they went out 2 times when Miae and Cheol's relationship changed)
After Jisu reveals that Miae was in his house and Cheol gets angry, Miae's pager starts buzzing (again, the pager messages always appear when the higher power wants to communicate with Miae).
Taekwang is an interesting character because the things he says are sometimes connected to the greater theme of the story. Like when he listened to his music and said how Miae cannot choose two things at the same time (come on, it was the foreshadowing for the current conflicts!), he smelled Jisu on Miae (???), Jisu even said he's the one he cannot deal with, and now he was counting the seconds until Miae got another sign. Is he used as a medium? (who knows lol)
Miae wants to check the pager message but the fluorescent lamp(?) breaks. Jisu shields Miae from the shards while they fall on the ground, making it his first successful attempt to save Miae in the story. The pager lands in the corner of the room.
Episode 159
Miae goes to a phone booth to check her messages and it's filled with the car ads so she kicks them away
The first message is a loud noise of a song recording. I personally think if there's a higher power in the story, this message came from it. The other is about Miae's friends telling her they'll visit her at her academy which gives Miae a sense of panic knowing Yonghui and Yunhui might meet.
Miae sees an airplane in the sky and the narration says Miae has a feeling that something is interfering with her and the panels get fuzzy with flashbacks to phone calls earlier in the story (omg this is actually crazy)
It starts raining and we get a glimpse of the last countryside memory we haven't seen yet about Miae running after Cheol at night. In the present, Miae trips just as she did as a kid, but instead of Cheol she meets Tae Uk.

You remember the first time you saw her.
The senior hallway always felt like foreign territory—older students with sharper eyes, louder laughs, and heavier footsteps. You didn't belong there, not really. But she did. Han So Hee. The girl who walked through that corridor like it was a runway she never asked for, but one the world insisted she deserved.
She had that kind of beauty that didn’t shout—it whispered. It wasn’t the way her hair curled slightly at the ends or the way her lips curved into half-smiles that people would kill for. It was her presence. The kind of presence that made time slow just enough for you to notice her brushing her sleeve, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, glancing sideways when she thought no one was looking.
But you were always looking.
You’d never spoken to her then. She was a year above you—miles, really. And yet, there was something magnetic about her cold tone, the way she answered questions without flinching, the way she walked out of classrooms with headphones in, shoulders straight like nothing could touch her. Like the world couldn't reach her.
But underneath all that… you knew there was warmth. Something soft. You saw it oncewhen she helped a junior pick up their spilled books without saying a word. Or when she smiled at the school janitor every morning. Like she didn’t want the world to know she cared, but she did. Deeply.
You wanted to be part of that warmth. You wanted her to see you—not just as the junior with a messy tie and an awkward smile, but as someone real. Someone capable of loving her in all the ways she never let herself be loved.
So you did the only thing you could. You stayed close. Watching. Quietly admiring from the corners of crowded classrooms, shared hallways, school festivals she barely attended.
And then came winter.
Snow had started to fall earlier that day. Flakes like stars, dancing down in lazy spirals, softening the edges of the world. The sky was the color of secrets, pale and heavy, and the ground shimmered like it was holding something sacred.
You found her in the school lobby.
Classes were done. Most students had already rushed out, coats zipped up, boots squeaking against the tiled floor. But she stayed behind.
So Hee stood near the glass entrance, arms lifted gently, palms open, catching snow through the open doorway like she was waiting for a miracle. She looked otherworldly—like a painting trapped in the wrong era. Her hair was damp at the ends, darkening near her coat collar, and her skin glowed under the dull golden lobby lights.
You watched her, your heartbeat skipping. Something about her stillness—the peace she wore so casually—made your chest tighten. Like maybe, just maybe, the universe had placed this moment here just for you.
You stepped closer.
The snow was falling quietly now, barely a whisper against the world, and your voice almost faltered.
"Aren’t you cold, Noona?" you asked softly, the words barely leaving your lips.
She turned, slow and delicate, like she already knew you were there.
And then she smiled.
A real one.
The kind you’d never seen before, not directed at anyone else. Not gentle. Not forced. Just… warm.
"Not at all," she said, voice airy, almost amused.
Her eyes didn’t leave yours.
There it was again—that pull. That undeniable, invisible string between you and her.
You didn’t know what it meant. You didn’t know what she felt. But in that moment, under the snow, in the empty lobby, you knew this: You were falling for her.
And you were ready to let her know.
Even if it took a thousand more winters.
The snow didn’t stop for days after that moment in the lobby.
And neither did your thoughts of her.
You saw her the next day, sitting on the wooden bench just outside the music room, legs crossed, headphones in, head tilted slightly like she was somewhere else entirely. You wondered what she was listening to. You wanted to ask. But instead, you sat three seats away, pretending to read a book you weren’t even flipping through.
And then something unexpected happened.
She took off her headphones.
“You’re always around, huh?” Her voice was cool like iced tea in summer. But her eyes… they glimmered with something warmer. Something close to curiosity. Maybe even affection.
You froze. Then nodded, heart knocking against your ribs.
“Is that okay?” you managed to ask.
She looked at you for a moment. Not through you—at you. And that made all the difference.
“I don’t mind,” she said, slipping one side of her headphones off and extending it toward you.
You hesitated—then leaned in.
A song was playing. Soft. Instrumental. A little sad, like the kind of melody you’d hear in a dream you didn’t want to wake up from. She didn’t tell you the title. She didn’t need to.
For the next few minutes, the two of you just sat there—sharing a pair of headphones and the space between you. Not speaking. Just… existing. Side by side.
And it felt more intimate than anything you'd ever known.
It became a pattern.
She started showing up in the places you went to. Or maybe you had always followed her there. The library, the back garden behind the school where few students wandered, the abandoned art room with dust-covered canvases and paint that had long since dried.
You never asked her why she let you stay. She never asked why you kept coming.
Sometimes she spoke. Sometimes she didn’t. But you learned to read her silences. Her little habits.
The way she bit the inside of her cheek when deep in thought. The way her fingers lingered on windows, like she was trying to touch something just beyond the glass. The way she always looked up when it rained, like the sky had a secret only she could understand.
You didn’t know what to call the feelings building inside you.
Infatuation wasn’t strong enough. Crush felt too childish. Love felt dangerous—like a word that might scare her away.
But whatever it was, it bloomed every time she looked at you and smiled like she was letting you in on a secret no one else knew.
One evening, just before dusk, you found her outside, near the bike racks. The sky was melting into shades of lilac and ash, and a wind had picked up, chasing loose pages across the schoolyard.
She was leaning against the fence, arms folded, eyes closed.
“Were you waiting for me?” you joked, stepping closer, trying to hide the hopeful tremble in your voice.
So Hee opened her eyes slowly. “Maybe,” she replied. “Maybe I just wanted to see if you’d come.”
That night, you walked her home for the first time.
She lived further than you expected, tucked away in a quiet alley, past rows of lantern-lit shops and winding stone paths. The walk was quiet. Peaceful. You didn’t speak much. Just the sound of your footsteps, the hush of wind, and your heart pounding like a war drum.
Before she went in, she turned around and asked, “Do you think I’m cold?”
You blinked. “Cold?”
She nodded, gently brushing her hair behind her ear. “Everyone says I’m hard to read. Unapproachable. Cold.”
You wanted to tell her she was wrong. That her coldness was a myth—something built by people who never looked closely enough. That you saw the way her eyes softened when she talked about music, or how she always left behind an extra pack of milk on the teachers’ table when she thought no one noticed.
But instead, you said, “You’re warm in all the ways that matter.”
And for a second, she just looked at you. Like you said something she had been waiting a long time to hear.
“Thank you,” she whispered, almost too softly to catch.
Then she disappeared behind the gate.
But her scent lingered in the air—floral, faint, like fading rain. And your chest ached in the most beautiful way.
You knew, in that moment, you were falling completely.
And you didn’t want to stop.
The art room was colder than usual.
Maybe because it had rained earlier. Maybe because it had always felt cold—like time froze in this place and forgot how to start again. The shelves were still littered with dried-up paint tubes, broken brushes, and ceramic figures that never made it to the kiln.
But there was something sacred about that stillness.
That’s why you brought her there.
You weren’t sure why she said yes. You’d casually asked her if she wanted to skip study period and hang out somewhere quiet. You thought she’d scoff, or at least say she was busy.
But instead, she said, “Okay. Lead the way.”
And now she was here.
Sitting on top of the old wooden table by the windows, legs swinging softly, her hands behind her to prop herself up. She looked out at the courtyard beyond the glass, where rain still clung to every surface like a memory.
You were pretending to clean a dirty paintbrush. But really, you were watching her reflection on the window.
“I used to come here alone,” she said suddenly, her voice echoing a little. “Last year. When things got too loud in my head.”
You set the brush down, quieter than your heartbeat. “Why this room?”
“Because no one ever looks for you in a place like this,” she answered with a soft laugh. “It’s forgotten. Like me, sometimes.”
You moved closer. Not because you planned to. But because your body knew—she needs someone to step into her silence.
“You’re not forgotten, So Hee,” you said, her name falling out of your mouth like a secret. “Not by me.”
She looked at you.
Really looked at you.
The way someone does when they’re not sure if they’re about to be hurt or healed.
“You always say things like that,” she murmured. “Things no one else does.”
You swallowed. “Because I see you.”
She blinked. Slowly. Then smiled—like she wanted to cry but didn’t have the strength to.
The light from the window hit her just right. Her hair glowed at the edges. Her skin pale and soft, kissed by shadow. You took a slow step forward.
So Hee didn’t move away.
You were standing so close now.
You could feel the warmth off her skin, the faint scent of her shampoo—lavender and rain. Her lips parted just barely, like she was about to speak. But no words came.
Your hand hovered near hers on the table.
She turned to face you completely now, her eyes never leaving yours.
“Y/n…” she said quietly.
You didn’t respond.
You didn’t need to.
Because you were both holding your breath.
The space between you grew smaller. The world outside disappeared. All that existed was her half-open lips, your trembling fingertips, and the question that hung between you like fog in the winter:
Are we going to cross this line?
But then—
A knock.
Someone at the door.
You both jumped.
Her hand slipped away.
The spell broke.
She hopped down from the table in one graceful motion, brushing invisible dust off her skirt.
“That was close,” she said with a half-smile, eyes looking anywhere but yours.
You forced a laugh. “Yeah.”
But your chest ached. Not from disappointment.
From almost.
You walked her home again that night, neither of you talking about what happened.
But everything had changed.
Every time her shoulder brushed yours, you felt her pause just a little longer. Every time she looked at you, there was something new in her eyes—like she was replaying that moment in the art room, over and over.
You were falling.
And you could tell—so was she.
But something was holding her back.
A shadow you couldn’t name.
Not yet.
The first snow of December fell like a whisper.
It painted the streets in silence, covering rooftops, railings, and your breath in something almost magical. You found yourself walking beside her again—shoulder to shoulder, two shadows under the pale street lamps, your footprints trailing behind like a secret path only the two of you knew.
You hadn’t planned to meet her tonight. But when you looked out the classroom window and saw the snow falling for the first time, your heart thought of her before your mind did.
And as if fate was listening, she texted:
"Meet me. Usual spot."
She was sitting on the swings behind the old playground.
Headphones on. Snow in her hair.
You approached quietly, not wanting to startle her.
She didn’t turn around, but her voice came out like breath:
“Do you believe in déjà vu?”
You blinked. “Sometimes.”
She looked over her shoulder, lips pale from the cold. “Because this moment feels like something I’ve lived before. But maybe… I wanted to rewrite it.”
You sat beside her, the chains creaking softly as you swayed.
So Hee took off her headphones and placed them in her coat pocket. Her fingers were red from the cold, but she didn’t seem to mind. She kept watching the snow.
“You ever trust someone too much?” she asked. “So much that when they leave… it feels like they took something out of you?”
You didn’t answer right away.
Because you knew this wasn’t just a question.
It was a memory, dressed in metaphor.
She continued, her tone quieter now. “I was fifteen. There was this boy—older. Confident. The kind everyone adored. He made me feel like I was seen… like I wasn’t invisible.”
Her voice faltered for a second, then steadied again.
“I told him things I never told anyone. About my parents’ divorce. About the nights I stayed up listening to my mom cry in the kitchen. About how sometimes I felt like a ghost in my own house. He said he understood.”
You looked at her, your chest tightening with every word.
“And then one day,” she whispered, “he just disappeared. Blocked my number. Transferred schools. I found out later it was all a game. A dare. I was the joke.”
A breath escaped her lips like frost. “I never told anyone.”
You felt something break inside you.
Not because you were angry for her.
But because in that moment, you wanted so badly to go back in time—to shield her from that pain. To take fifteen-year-old So Hee by the hand and say you’re not invisible.
But now, you just sat there—trying to hold her silence the way she needed it to be held.
So Hee turned to you.
And for the first time, her eyes weren’t guarded.
They were wounded.
“I don’t push people away because I enjoy it, Y/n.”
You swallowed. “I know.”
“It’s just… when someone looks at me the way you do—like I matter—I get scared.”
Your voice trembled. “Why?”
“Because I might start believing it again.”
The wind whispered through the trees, scattering snow like confetti.
And you did the only thing you could.
You reached out.
Not boldly. Not dramatically.
Just… gently.
Your hand found hers, resting cold in her lap.
And this time—she didn’t pull away.
You stayed like that for what felt like hours.
Two people, barely speaking. Letting the silence cradle you. Letting the weight of old wounds settle into the snow beneath your feet.
Then, before she stood up to leave, she said something so soft, you almost missed it:
“Don’t fall for me, Y/n.”
You looked at her. “Too late.”
She didn’t smile.
But her fingers tightened around yours.
And somehow, that said more than anything else could.
“Do you ever think about Future ?” Her voice was soft, almost fragile, as if the words might shatter if they lingered too long in the air.
I paused, the weight of her question pressing against my chest. “All the time,” I admitted, my voice just above a whisper. “Every damn day.”
So Hee turned to face You, her dark eyes searching mine for something I wasn’t sure I could give. The dim glow of the streetlamp painted her features in a soft, golden hue, making her look almost ethereal. We were sitting on the edge of the old playground, the same spot where I’d first truly seen her. The snow had started to fall again, tiny flakes catching in her hair like stars.
“I don’t want to hurt you,” she said, her voice trembling slightly. “But I don’t know if I can be what you need.”
I reached out, brushing a strand of hair from her face. Her skin was cold, but there was a warmth in her eyes that didn’t match her words. “You already are,” You told her. “You’ve always been.”
She looked away, her lips pressing into a thin line. “You don’t know that. You don’t know everything.”
“Then tell me,” You urged, my hand sliding down to rest against hers. “You don’t have to carry it all alone.”
She didn’t respond right away. Instead, she stared out at the snow-covered playground, her expression unreadable. You knew this wasn’t just about You and Her. It was about the walls she’d built around herself, the scars she’d hidden so well that even You sometimes forgot they were there.
“When I was fifteen,” she began, her voice barely audible, “there was this boy. He wasn’t just any boy. He was… everything. Confident, charming, the kind of person everyone wanted to be around. And for some reason, he chose me.”
You felt Your chest tighten, but You didn’t interrupt. This was her story, her pain, and You needed to let her tell it.
“He made me feel seen. Like I wasn’t just the quiet girl in the corner. He listened to me, really listened, and I thought… I thought he cared.” Her voice cracked, and she took a deep breath before continuing. “But it was all a lie. It was just a game to him. A dare. And when he was done, he left. Blocked me. Transferred schools. I was the joke.”
The words hung heavy between us, the weight of her vulnerability almost too much to bear. You tightened Your grip on her hand, hoping she could feel the sincerity in Your touch.
“So Hee,” You said softly, “that wasn’t you. That was him. And I’m not him.”
Her eyes met mine again, and for the first time, I saw the tears she’d been holding back. “I know,” she whispered. “But what if I’m the one who’s broken? What if I can’t give you what you deserve?”
“You’re not broken,” You said firmly. “And you don’t have to be anything for me. I just want you to be you. That’s enough.”
She hesitated, her gaze dropping to our intertwined hands. “I’m scared,” she admitted, her voice barely audible. “Scared that if I let you in, you’ll leave too.”
“I’m not going anywhere,” You promised. “Not now. Not ever.”
For a moment, there was only silence. The snow continued to fall around us, wrapping You two in a cocoon of stillness. Then, slowly, she leaned in, her forehead resting against mine. Her breath was warm against Your skin, and You could feel the rapid flutter of her heartbeat where our hands were clasped.
“Y/n,” she murmured, her voice trembling with emotion. “I don’t know what I’m doing. But I want to try.”
“That’s all I need,” You whispered back. “Just try.”
Her lips brushed against mine, soft and tentative, as if testing the waters. It wasn’t a kiss of passion, but one of vulnerability—a silent promise that she was willing to let me in. And in that moment, I knew I’d do whatever it took to keep that promise alive.
The snow continued to fall, blanketing the world in a quiet hush as You two sat there, trying to navigate the messy, beautiful chaos of love and healing. And for the first time in a long time, So Hee let herself believe that maybe, just maybe, she wasn’t as alone as she thought.
The snow fell in soft, silent waves as you guided So Hee down the narrow streets, her hand warm and steady in yours. Her breath formed little clouds in the icy air, her cheeks pink from the cold, but there was something else in her eyes now—something brighter, bolder. A flicker of trust that hadn’t been there before.
Your place wasn’t far, but the walk felt endless, every step charged with an unspoken tension. The weight of her past still lingered in the air between you, but there was something else too—a kind of electricity that made your skin prickle and your heartbeat quicken. She didn’t speak, and neither did you. Words felt unnecessary now. The quiet between you was its own language.
When you finally reached your door, you fumbled with the key, your fingers shaking just enough to betray your nerves. So Hee stood beside you, her breath shallow, her eyes fixed on your hands as if she were memorizing the way they moved. The lock clicked, and you pushed the door open, stepping inside with her close behind.
The warmth of your apartment wrapped around the two of you like a blanket, the soft hum of the heater filling the silence. You turned to face her, and for a moment, you just stood there, your eyes locked in a silent conversation. Her lips parted slightly, a faint tremor running through her, and you could see it—the fear, the hesitation, but also the want. It was there, raw and unguarded, and it took everything in you not to pull her into your arms right then and there.
But you waited. You let her decide.
Her eyes flickered down to your lips, then back up, and something in her gaze shifted—softened. “Y/n…” she whispered, her voice barely audible, but it was enough.
You closed the distance between you in one swift motion, your hands cupping her face as your lips met hers. It wasn’t gentle this time—it was hungry, desperate, like you were trying to erase every bit of pain she’d ever felt with one kiss. She gasped into your mouth, her hands gripping the front of your coat as she leaned into you, her body pressed tight against yours.
The kiss deepened, her tongue hesitantly brushing against yours, and a low groan escaped your throat. Your hands slid down to her waist, pulling her even closer until there was no space left between you. She responded with a soft moan, her fingers tangling in your hair as she kissed you back with a desperation that matched your own.
You stumbled backward, still locked in each other, until the back of your knees hit the edge of your bed. She broke the kiss for a moment, her chest heaving as she looked up at you, her eyes dark with need. “Y/n…” she breathed, her voice trembling. “I’m scared.”
You gently brushed a strand of hair from her face, your thumb grazing her cheek. “I know,” you murmured. “But I’m here. I’m not going anywhere.”
She searched your face for a moment, as if trying to find any sign of doubt, but when she found none, she nodded. “Okay.”
That single word was all you needed. Your lips crashed into hers again, and this time, there was no hesitation. Your hands moved to the buttons of her coat, fumbling slightly as you peeled it off her shoulders and let it fall to the floor. She did the same with yours, her fingers shaking as she worked the zipper down and pushed it off your arms.
The layers between you disappeared one by one, each piece of clothing hitting the floor with a soft thud until there was nothing left but skin. Her hands traced the lines of your chest, her touch tentative but curious, and you could feel the heat of her skin against yours. You guided her backward onto the bed, your lips never leaving hers as you climbed over her, your body hovering just above hers.
Her breath hitched as your hands explored the curves of her body, every touch igniting a fire within her that she hadn’t felt in years. Her fingers dug into your back, pulling you closer as she arched into you, her hips pressing against yours in a way that made your head spin.
“Y/n…” she whispered, her voice breaking as your lips found the sensitive spot just below her ear. “Please…”
You pulled back just enough to look into her eyes, your hand gently brushing her hair away from her face. “Tell me what you want,” you murmured, your voice rough with need.
Her lips trembled as she looked up at you, her eyes filled with a mixture of fear and desire. “I want you,” she whispered. “All of you.”
You kissed her again, slow and deep, as your hand slid down her side, tracing the curve of her hip before moving between her legs. She gasped into your mouth, her body trembling beneath your touch, and when you slipped a finger inside her, she let out a moan that sent a shudder through your entire body.
Her nails dug into your back as you moved your fingers in slow, deliberate strokes, each one drawing another breathless sound from her lips. Her hips rocked against your hand, her body seeking more of the pleasure you were giving her, and when you added a second finger, her back arched off the bed, a strangled cry escaping her throat.
“Y/n… I…” Her words dissolved into a moan as you curled your fingers inside her, hitting the spot that made her see stars. Her legs wrapped around your hips, pulling you closer as she came apart beneath you, her body trembling with the force of her orgasm.
You kissed her through it, your lips soft against hers as she rode out the waves of pleasure, her hands clinging to you like you were the only thing keeping her grounded. When she finally relaxed beneath you, her breath slowly evening out, you pulled back just enough to look into her eyes.
“Are you okay?” you asked, your voice gentle.
She nodded, her cheeks flushed and her lips swollen from kissing. “More than okay,” she whispered, a small smile tugging at the corners of her mouth. “But I’m not done with you yet.”
Before you could respond, she pushed you onto your back, her hands trailing down your chest as she straddled your hips. Her eyes met yours, and there was something new in them now—a confidence, a fire that hadn’t been there before. She leaned down, her lips brushing against yours in a soft kiss before she whispered, “My turn.”
And then her lips were on your neck, her teeth grazing your skin as she made her way down your chest, her hand wrapping around your length and stroking you slowly. You groaned, your head falling back against the pillow as she teased you, her touch light but deliberate, driving you absolutely mad.
“So Hee…” you breathed, your hands tangling in her hair as she took you into her mouth, her tongue swirling around the tip in a way that made your entire body tense. Her eyes met yours, and the sight of her like this—completely lost in the moment, her lips wrapped around you—was almost enough to push you over the edge.
But you wanted more. You wanted all of her.
With a shaky breath, you gently pulled her back up, your hands cupping her face as you kissed her deeply. She moaned into your mouth, her hips grinding against yours, and when you broke the kiss, she looked at you with an unspoken question in her eyes.
You reached for the nightstand, fumbling with the drawer until you found what you were looking for. She watched you, her breath coming in shallow pants, and when you rolled the condom on, she bit her lip, her hands tightening on your shoulders.
“Are you sure?” you asked, your voice barely above a whisper.
She nodded, her eyes never leaving yours. “I’m sure.”
You kissed her again, slow and deep, as you positioned yourself at her entrance. Her hands gripped your shoulders as you pushed inside her, her body tense for a moment before she relaxed, a soft moan escaping her lips as she adjusted to the feel of you. When she finally nodded, urging you to move, you started slow, each thrust careful and deliberate, watching her face for any sign of discomfort.
But there was none. Only pleasure. Her eyes fluttered shut as she tilted her head back, her lips parting in a silent gasp, and when you hit the spot that made her see stars, her nails dug into your back, her hips rising to meet yours.
“Y/n… oh god…” she moaned, her voice breathless and broken, and it was the sweetest sound you’d ever heard.
You kissed her again, your lips swallowing her moans as you moved inside her, each thrust sending sparks
So Hee’s hands pressed firmly against your chest, her fingers splayed as she pushed you back onto the bed. Your back hit the mattress with a soft thud, and you looked up at her, breath already catching in your throat. Her hair cascaded around her face, slightly messy from your earlier kisses, and her eyes—dark, intense—held a fire you hadn’t seen before.
“Let me take the lead,” she whispered, her voice low and husky, sending a shiver down your spine.
You nodded, your hands instinctively moving to her hips as she straddled you, her weight settling comfortably against you. Her skin was warm, her thighs brushing against yours as she leaned forward slightly, her lips hovering just above yours.
“You’re sure?” you asked, your voice barely above a whisper, your fingers tightening around her waist.
She didn’t answer with words. Instead, she leaned down, capturing your lips in a kiss that was anything but gentle. It was hungry, demanding, and it made your head spin. Her tongue slipped into your mouth, teasing and exploring, and you groaned, your hips involuntarily bucking up against hers.
She pulled back just enough to smirk down at you, her eyes glinting with mischief. “I’m sure,” she said, her voice dripping with confidence.
Then she shifted, her hips moving in slow, deliberate circles against yours. The friction was maddening, her body pressing against you in all the right ways, and you couldn’t help the moan that escaped your lips.
“Fuck, So Hee…” you breathed, your hands gripping her hips tighter as she continued to grind against you.
She let out a soft, breathy laugh, her hands sliding up your chest until they rested on either side of your head. “You like this?” she asked, her voice teasing as she leaned down, her lips brushing against the shell of your ear.
“You know I do,” you managed to reply, your voice strained as she moved against you, your cock throbbing with need.
She hummed softly, her lips trailing down your neck, leaving a trail of kisses that had your skin tingling. Then she pulled back again, her eyes locking onto yours as she rocked her hips forward, the movement slow and deliberate.
“Good,” she said, her voice a low purr. “Because I’m not done with you yet.”
She sat up fully, her hands moving to your chest as she began to move faster, her hips rolling against yours in a rhythm that had you seeing stars. Her head tilted back, her lips parting in a soft gasp as pleasure washed over her, and you couldn’t take your eyes off her. She was breathtaking, the way she moved, the way she looked at you, the way she took what she wanted without hesitation.
Your hands moved from her hips to her thighs, your fingers digging into her soft skin as you clung to her, your own hips lifting to meet hers. The room was filled with the sound of your ragged breaths and the soft, slick sound of her body moving against yours, and it was driving you wild.
“So Hee,” you groaned, your voice breaking as she shifted slightly, her movements becoming more urgent, more desperate.
She looked down at you, her eyes dark with desire, her lips curling into a wicked smile. “Say my name again,” she demanded, her voice husky as she leaned forward, her hands braced on either side of your head.
“So Hee,” you whispered, your voice shaky as she rocked against you, the pressure building inside you with each movement.
She kissed you again, her lips crashing against yours with a hunger that matched your own. Her tongue tangled with yours, muffling your moans as she continued to move against you, her body trembling slightly as she neared her own release.
“You feel so good,” she breathed against your lips, her voice barely audible as she pressed her forehead against yours.
You groaned, your hands moving to her back, pulling her closer as she quickened her pace. Her breath hitched, her body tensing as she reached her peak, and you followed soon after, your hips jerking up against hers as you came undone.
She collapsed against you, her chest heaving as she tried to catch her breath, her lips brushing against your neck as she let out a soft, contented sigh.
You wrapped your arms around her, holding her close as your heart rate slowly returned to normal. She was warm against you, her body fitting perfectly against yours, and you couldn’t help but smile.
“That was…” you started, your voice trailing off as you struggled to find the right words.
She lifted her head, her eyes meeting yours, a soft smile playing on her lips. “Amazing?” she offered, her voice teasing as she traced a finger along your jawline.
You chuckled, nodding slightly. “Yeah, that’s one way to put it.”
She kissed you softly, her lips lingering against yours for a moment before she pulled back, her eyes searching yours. “I meant what I said earlier,” she said, her voice serious now. “I don’t want you to fall for me.”
You frowned, your hand moving to cup her cheek. “Why not?”
She hesitated, her eyes flickering with something you couldn’t quite place. “Because I’m scared,” she admitted softly. “Scared that if you do, I’ll lose you too.”
You kissed her again, your lips moving against hers in a way that you hoped conveyed everything you were feeling. “You won’t,” you whispered against her lips. “I promise.”

I really appreciate you making a comic about older aroace characters. A lot of stories are about teenagers, and everyone always brings up how aroace people “can’t be happy later in life” (marriage, kids, being lonely, etc), so it’s nice to see characters that are ~30 and living happy lives!
Hey there, thank you so much! I did specifically write AALD not to be a coming-of-age story, in the sense that I'm less interested in writing about the aspec characters figuring out their identities than exploring how it affects their daily lives as adults in society (ex. Nora's concerns about how she'll always be single-income while her married sister has more options as part of a double-income household, how marriage/relationship status can affect your standing in the workplace, etc.)
The characters in AALD are still young adults, and there are characters who are still figuring themselves out--but it's been fun to write about characters who aren't just facing the future with their identities, but have already taken a few steps into it!

Career Day Pt 1
Tumblr media
It was Development Day at Abbott Elementary and all the teachers were gathered in the gymnasium to go through it. Lina was sitting behind Gregory Eddie on her phone as she was waiting for the day to start when one of her good friends, Janine Teagues, had entered the gym; however, she knew that she was going to sit next to Greg so she stayed on her phone. When Janine reached the row that Gregory was in, Gregory had asked.
“Left or right?”
“Ummm, left,” Janine smiled and sat down, “Thank you,”
“Good choice, good choice,” Gregory said.
“Hey, Lina. How are you?” Janine turned to ask the mildly experienced teacher.
“I’m good as can be. I’m breathing,” Lina shrugged.
That was when Development Day began, and Ava started talking, “Good day to the fine teachers of Abbott Elementary,”
Everyone had turned to look at Gregory while he rolled his eyes and sighed.
“What?” Ava asked.
“No comment about Gregory being F-O-I-N, foine?” Melissa asked, which caused Lina to smirk.
“No, Ms. Schemmenti. I was speaking to everyone, but since all eyes are on him, uh, Mr. Eddie, would you mind reading from the first paragraph of your immaculately assembled binder?” Ava asked.
“Sexily?” Gregory asked.
“Excuse me. That is not only suggestive but highly inappropriate in front of our company,” Ava motioned to the three people standing on the stage.
“Uh, hi. Hi, everybody,” the man said, causing Lina to look at him with a slightly slack jaw as she processed his attractiveness. We’re from the school district. Principal Coleman invited us to observe and collaborate with you on this Development Day.”
“Yes! The importance of collaboration is one of the many things I learned while matriculating at Cambridge,” Ava said.
Lina scoffed and shook her head as the principal spoke about how she had gone to Harvard over the summer.
“We’re super excited to be here on behalf of the new superintendent, John Reynolds. I’m Manny. That’s my dream team over there. That’s Emily. That’s Simon,” Manny introduced his coworkers, “And we don’t come empty-handed. We come with some iPads and SMART boards for your classrooms, loaded with learning apps.” Claps were heard scattered through the audience.
“New and improved models,” Melissa leaned towards Barbara.
“Same old engines,” Barbara said, “these people aren’t gonna change a blessed thing except how many bodies are in the room,”
Lina continued sitting there, stoic, as Ava told Gregory that he still needed to read the first passage of the binder. When Gregory finished reading, Ava muttered into the microphone what she had to say next. So, she emerged from behind the podium and started dancing, asking if anyone had any ideas they would like to implement from the summer.
Janine raised her hand.
“Janine! One of our most…teachers at Abbott,” Ava introduced.
“So, I was thinking over the summer while I was spending time with myself and just thinking about what really led me to this point in my life…” Janine rambled.
“Janine, get to the point!” Lina groaned as she put her head back. Manny couldn’t help but notice Lina and had a slight smile on his face; however, Lina didn’t notice it herself.
“Ok, a Career Day. I think we should do Career Day at the school because I checked, and we haven’t had one since the only jobs for women were typists, moms, and wet nurses. I think it’d be a great way for the kids to see all of the amazing jobs they can have. That’s it. That’s my idea. I’m done. Career Day,” Janine sat back down and smiled with Gregory.
“I could go into the plethora of reasons that won’t work—scheduling, previous failed attempts, the fact that it was your idea,” Ava listed.
“Right, but there is a way-” Janine started but was cut off by Ava, which made Lina bite her cheek and glare at Ava.
“But I’m just gonna go ahead and say no and save you the embarrassment,” Ava said.
“Sometimes, I just wanna shove my foot so far up her ass that you can see it out of her mouth, but professionalism or whatever,” Lina told the camera crew with a groan.
Development Day had ended, and Janine and Lina started walking out together when Manny stopped them.
“Hey. Janine, right? I’m Manny, which I said up there.” Manny said, “I just wanted to say that Career Day sounded good. It’s a good idea. I would love to hear more.”
“Thank you! So you guys are new at the district?” Janine asked.
“Yup. Just started over the summer. Loving it so far. Feel like we’re gonna make a lot of positive changes and do what the last administration didn’t. Nobody embezzling find on my watch,”
Janine chuckled while Lina giggled, “Love that,” Janine said.
“Actually, one of the things we wanted to do today was shadow a teacher. Can we shadow you?” Manny asked.
“Yeah, sure,” Janine nodded, “I’m just gonna be setting up my classroom with Lina,” Janine motioned toward Lina.
“Exciting!”
“It is exciting,” Janine smiled.
“Yeah, I’m just gonna grab my coworkers. They’re talking to Principal Coleman over there. You guys are so lucky. You have such a good principal,” Manny smiled and walked away.
“Yeah, right,” Lina rolled her eyes as she walked out when Manny caught up to them.
The five-person group started walking toward Janine’s class, and Lina couldn’t help but start a conversation.
“So, where’d you teach before pivoting to the school district?” Lina asked.
Manny looked at Lina, “I didn’t, actually. But I grew up here, though. My first-hand experience is more from when I was a student in the area.”
“Oh, alright. That’s one of the reasons I wanted to teach at Abbott. Because I was a student in the area, as well, so…this is my room,” Janine motioned towards the room.
“What are you making here?” Emily asked.
“A welcome back sign for the kids. We’re gonna decorate it together so that everyone feels included. I try to implement a lot of color. Wanted to go with blue because that inspires focus.”
“And calm, which is so important for primary classes. I read about that in Chalkbeat,” Manny said.
“You read Chalkbeat?” Janine asked.
Manny hummed in agreeance.
“I basically live in the comment section, so…” Janine smiled.
“Oh, my God. Are you @JTeagues215?” Manny smiled.
“Yes! And @JTeagues267 when I wanna spice up the discourse,” Janine grinned.
“Ms. Teagues, I’m @MannyFromTheBlock. I’m always using this emoji,” Manny did a salute.
“That’s you! I love your comments,” Janine complimented.
“I love your comments,” Manny complimented back.
Lina felt like a third wheel, so she started walking back to her class, which caught Manny’s eye, but he didn’t comment. However, she ran into Gregory, and they started talking when Janine walked out behind her.
“Hey! Fancy meeting you here,” Janine smiled at the teacher.
“Oh, I’m just bringing in the workbooks. Oh! There is a ten-for-ten sale at Nichols School Supplies, by the way.
“Oh, fuck yeah,” Janine cursed, but it didn’t sound right, so Lina stared at her with a deadpan look. “Trying out cursing. Still getting the hang of it. How was Baltimore?”
Lina was no longer interested and slowly headed to her classroom. When she got inside, she connected her phone to her speaker and played her playlist while fixing her classroom. She quickly got into it and started dancing fluidly as she put stuff where it should be, but jumped when she heard a small chuckle at the door. She quickly turned to see Manny with a smile on his face.
“Oh, my God! Hey, Manny. What brings you in here?” Lina blushed and paused her music.
“Nothing. I just wanted to come in here and say that it was very nice to meet you, and I hope we see more of each other,” Manny smiled.
“Yeah, yeah. Same here,” Lina blushed, “I’m sorry you had to see me do all that,”
“No, no. It was nice. You know how to dance,” Manny smiled, “Well, I have to be on my way out. I’ll see you later,”
“Yeah. I’ll see you later,” Lina softly smiled at him.
Manny walked out, and she couldn’t help but sigh and then groan at the thought of embarrassing herself in front of him.
The following day, Lina came into school and dropped her stuff off before going to Barbara’s class to see if she needed any help, only to see that she was moving her desks. She quickly sprung into action and helped her when Simon and Emily walked in. The conversation wasn’t interesting to her so she zoned out as she helped with the desks until she heard his voice.
“The legendary Mrs. Howard and the beautiful Ms. Kim,,” Manny’s voice rang from the door, “I haven’t had a chance to connect with you yet, but I hear you’re the one,” Manny held out his hand.
“Charmed,” Barbara said with a condescending smile. Meanwhile, Lina couldn’t help but softly chuckle at Barbara’s annoyance.
“We’re actually working on a program to get assistants in the classroom at the beginning of the school year instead of you having to request one that doesn’t get here until January,” Manny explained.
“Alright. Excuse me, I have to finish some work in my classroom.” Lina smiled and left the room.
Gregory and Melissa were there with the other teachers when she got to her classroom, so she listened to their conversation. Their conversation was about resetting Ava and how Gregory would be their last resort regarding their plan of resetting Ava.
“How do you expect me to reset Ava?” Gregory asked.
“I don’t know. Flex your muscles, be whore-y. It’s up to you,” Melissa shrugged while leaving the classroom.
Once Melissa was out of the room, Lina busted out in laughter because of the face that Gregory was making. Gregory groaned and walked out of the classroom, not feeling like being laughed at by Lina. Lina shook her head and continued with her activities when Manny walked into her class again.
“Hey, Lina. How are you today?” Manny asked.
“Hey. I’m good. What about yourself?” Lina asked.
“Good. Good,” Manny smiled, “I wanted to come in here and see if I could get your number so you can, you know, send me any new ideas you possibly could have with making the school better,” Manny rubbed the back of his neck.
“Oh, of course,” Lina fished her phone out of her pocket, “here, put it in and text yourself so we can keep in touch,”
“Awesome,” Manny grinned as he took her phone, inputted his number, and texted himself, “Well, that is it for me here for now. Hopefully, I’ll see you out and about,”
“Yeah. I’d like that,” Lina blushed and watched him make his way out of her classroom, only to meet his eyes when he looked back and winked. Her blush pushed back harder on her cheeks, and she giggled.
When the day was over, Gregory, Jacob, Janine, and Lina went to Rubenstien’s for a drink. They talked about resetting Ava in the gym by blasting City Girls. Lina was laughing at the guy’s shared memory of Gregroy flexing his muscles in front of Ava’s office.
“You flexed?” Janine asked in surprise, “Well, did you guys try just playing ‘Back That Azz Up’?”
Jacob gasped, “How did you know to do that? Wow, you really are district material,”
“Oh, stop,” Janine saw Gregory and Lina’s confused faces, “So, Manny offered me a fellowship at the district. And I’m like 80/20 on doing it.”
“So, you’d leave Abbott,” Gregory concluded.
“Well, yeah, but not permanently,” Janine pointed out.
“Well, I’m happy for you,” Lina smiled at her friend.
“I am, too. And jealous. And sad. I’m emotional, which calls for shots.” Jacob stood up and went to the bar.
“I’ll come with you to help carry them,” Lina stood up. She only really left to let the teachers crush on each other alone. When she got to the bar with Jacob, she leaned on it, “When are those two gonna realize that they like each other and make the jump?”
“I know! It’s like watching dough rise,” Jacob rolled his eyes.
“Anyways, I gotta tell somebody. I think Manny is so attractive!” Lina giggled.
“Literally, same! Oh, my God. You should ask for his number!” Jacob hyped Lina up.
“I got it. He asked me for mine before he left. He said it was so I could text him any ideas I had for improving the school.” Lina smiled.
“Oh, my God. He totally has a thing for you,” Jacob grinned at his friend.
“What? No! It can’t be that,” Lina shook her head.
“Uhh, yes, it could. You’re hot and have a nice body and the greatest personality! I say ask him on a date,” Jacob shrugged.
“I don’t think so. I’m big on the guy asking, so I know he’s interested,” Lina shook her head, “My mom always told me that, and I believe her and that ideal,”

I just think that if you have previously established that a character has freaky out of body astral projection powers and then he tries to kill himself because he believes it is a solution to everyone’s problems, it’s well within your right to force him to come back as a fucked up ghost who can’t move on

I'm not getting into The Giving Tree discourse...
#personal#delete later#idk i just saw a post of the “alternate ending” comic on my dash and everyone praising it as an improvement and “fixing” the original#which i kinda resent#while tulli and i was taking my nephew to a book store we walked around the kids section and found the giving tree and we read through it#and i was so stricken by how profoundly sad it is. it's not a happy story#in the end both versions tell the exact same lesson. but one flat out tells you and the other makes you sit with a pit in your stomach#and work to find the answer#i dunno it's kids literature but kids literature is important. i don't wanna discredit anyone's bad memories with the book but also i think#sometimes it's ok to make kids a bit sad and upset with fiction.#tweet that goes “what if romeo and juliet didn't kill themselves and explained to the audience that family feuds are bad”#idk you can't seriously read the original book as an adult and say it's glorifying self-martyrdom#when the final drawing of the book is of an old tired man sitting on arotting stump with his hat fallen to the ground#again i don't wanna invalidate people's feelings if they enjoy the alt version i think it's really nice too. but the original has its#purpose too. imagine if at the end of the lorax they show that the boy did it and replanted the world happy ending#wait they did that in the movie shit#i dunno i just love somber children's literature. tulli and i are talking about moomin right now and how the series ends with the moomin#family just leaving. and nobody gets to say goodbye to them. their friends have to find ways to live with the emptiness they've left behin

what if the Masked Invincible and Unmasked Invincible talked before the meeting! What if Masked told Unmasked his deal with Angstrom and Unmasked was like 'I could bring this dimension's William back with me?! Why didn't I think of that!!' and then team up.
they got like an hour to kill before the scheduled meeting and go look for them. Debbie isn't home or at her office so they go look for William figuring he could help them plus they have a better idea of where to look for him. College.
they find him and Unmasked scares the shit out of him by tackling him to the ground sobbing with the most wholesome manic grin on his face. Masked just stands there impatient like 'ask your boyfriend where mom is already!'
takes a bit for poor Will to convince Masked that he doesn't know Debbie is, cause I doubt he knows where Paul lives, which makes them miss the meeting. So now they're stranded here but that's not the worse thing since now they both have their respective loved one alive and well here. just gotta find Debbie tho
Next day Mark opens the door to see a scared shitless William being lovingly yet firmly held by one of his evil variant's and then getting the air kicked out him by another who blindsides him. Debbie and Oliver sees all this, Oliver goes to get Debbie out of here but is beaten by Masked who ruins the plan by tackling her into a hug rather than flying off with her.
The Grayson's are emotional men when raised decently.
Several moments of awkward silence where everyone just looks back forth between the evil Marks. One on the floor hugging Debbie sobbing uncontrollably and the other still in the doorway back hugging William, chin over shoulder, with a very firm glare that just screams 'try me'
Somehow they end at the couches discussing terms and conditions. No killing or hurting anyone in exchange for supervised time with William/Mom. Seems like a good enough plan until the world builds up their strength enough to figure out what the hell they should do with them

-:Betrayal prompts-:
(You better believe that I LOVE this trope(and hate it). TAG ME OMG)))
By @me-writes-prompts
"How could you do this to me?"
"Why? Just why?"
"What did I do to deserve this?"
"I fucking knew this would happen." "Well then, you shouldn't have believed me so much."
Person A is on their deathbed, and Person B has a twisted confession to make.
Person B should've noticed the leading signs and the little hints, but they didn't want to if they could just ignore them. It came back to bite them later.
Person A expected everything to happen, however, not this. Not the betrayal of trust and love.
"I can't...please. Please don't do this to me. Don't do this to us."
"Let's go back to the way it was, yeah? We could pretend this never happened."
"I trusted you."
"I loved you." "I wanted to ruin you."
"We can start over, right? I'll-I'll forget this ever happened." "You can't keep lying to yourself, love. It's about time you faced the truth."
They both betray each other because, in the end, it was about who would be more hurt.
