Subject Performance Analysis
Subject: Mach (002)
Date: Seventh of July, 1897
Subject is integrating very well with society. Subject shows none of the hesitation or flawed actions that Subject Rabbit had, but has some hesitancy when interacting physically with humans. For example, instead of giving a handshake to someone who offered his hand, Subject instead bowed its head and stepped back. Subjects Rabbit, The Spine, Upgrade, Hatchworth, and #5072 have not had any reaction to physical interaction in this way before. In fact, Subject Mach seems to be adverse to physical touch. Subject doesn't react this way when others touch him, though. Often it and Subject #5072 are found playing, like children would, and doing things that involve physical contact(I.E. Pattycake, Carrying #5072 places, etc…) with no hesitation. It also partakes in what the robots have dubbed "Pile Time", in which they all get into a big pile and go into stasis. Subject Mach is often at the bottom of the pile with Subject The Spine, covered by the others. It has shown no hesitancy with this action either.
Hypothesis: Subject lacks control over strength and full motor controls. Perhaps its functions were damaged during the 3-day war with Becile's elephants and it never mentioned it to anyone. I have no spare parts left, having used most of them on Subject 0, so any new parts I will have to get from broken robots and repair, or I will have to make them from scratch.
Subject's wiring has no need to be altered and is working fine. Performance, both physically and psychically, are good and no tubes or pipes need to be replaced. Musical performance is adequate, but it seems to have problems with its volume and its voicebox continues to short out and produce nonsense beeps. Will take a better look at it when I have the time and spare parts.
Subject has a good grasp of the English language and was, as noted before, the earliest to start speaking full sentences after activation. Subject took around one/half a minute to start using full sentences, as Subject Rabbit only used full sentences after a few days and it took Subject The Spine three hours. Others took roughly a week and communicated via music notes and chords, which they spoke-sang to the others before eventually using English. Subject also has started showing proficiency in other languages such as French, Latin, and other Romance Languages. Perhaps Subject will show interest in love songs and ballads in the future?
Subject, like the rest of the subjects, has found a hat to wear. It is a top hat with a light purple band. It had a hole it the top and Miss Iris sewed a patch over it, which seemed to boost the Subject's mood exponentially. Subject has also taken to wearing a long, dull green performer's wig, whereas Subject The Spine wears a shorter black wig and Subject Rabbit wears no wig at all. Subject #5072 also wears a longer wig, but it is more naturally coloured. Preference towards an unnatural colouring may just be a quirk this robot has, similar to how Subject Rabbit has the tendency to wear dresses.
Hypothesis: Rabbit's original design may have to do with its unsuitable clothing choices. Nevertheless, it is unacceptable for a robot to wear things that go against its design, however revised that design may be. I just... couldn't live with it if I made it look like her. I couldn't.
Core is stable and casing around core is as well. Core covering is a circle shape, as with most of the others. Upgrade is the only one with a differing shape, it resembling the shape of a heart. (Upgrade's core shape was Miss Iris's idea and she wouldn't leave me alone until I indulged her)
Re: Appearance. Miss Iris has been pressuring me to give the Subject a new faceplate. She says that the Subject has talked to her about "How he feels like he looks like a monster with the corroded faceplate and exposed jaw." First of all, I don't think that Mach really has a problem with it if it hadn't come to me and expressed the problem directly. Secondly, Miss Iris's use of "He" and "Him" pronouns for the robot is most interesting. Has Mach begun to develop a sense of gender? Or has it had this sense since it was first activated? Its appearance correlates with the pronouns it seems to prefer using, so there's further evidence that its coding wasn't damaged during the war, regardless of further physical damages. (Mach has come to me and asked for me to talk of him with the proper pronouns. Huzzah!)
Subject Report: Ended. Will come back and make proper notes when needed

okay so steph is definitely a music purist?
we can all agree on that right? like she's a 'said she was born in the wrong generation in middle school' fleetwood mac, david bowie, the mamas & the papas, niche modern indie artists and also chappell roan kind of music listener. obviously. but.... i dont think we've really considered pete's music taste?
pete, who is a science, left-brained kind of kid, so he probably does not actively go out to look for music and is instead just provided music by the people around him?
pete whose older brother is theodore spankoffski and so his earliest and most fond and nostalgic music influences from his childhood would have come directly from ted's cd collection???
basically what im saying is peter spankoffski has the most trashy, early 00's ke$ha, black eyed peas my humps era, all american rejects ass music taste in the world
that boy had bowling for soup's 1985 memorized at age four, his guilty pleasure music is hollywood undead's everywhere i go, ted did his first decent person move in years when pete came out as trans as a kid and stopped listening to grow a pear by ke$ha and pete forcibly made him play it because it's a bop
and then his only friends are a weeb and a theatre kid.
steph gives him the aux cord on a date to be nice, as a sign of trust, and is blasted in the face with the most uncurated mess of j-pop, sondheim, weezer, and like... owl city's fireflies and that's just a fact

CW: this one's pretty gruesome. read at your own risk
Peter is a young child who's been kidnapped. His parents and/or his aunt and uncle were killed and he was taken. Along with a bunch of other little kids, he's been held captive and experimented on.
When the Avengers suddenly bust the kidnapping operation, the kidnappers try at the last second to destroy their research. They gas the small room where the kids are being held.
It's Iron Man who ends up blasting through. What he finds is horrifying. All but one of the children are dead.
The one who's left is just sitting among the bodies, crying, shocked, terrified. Iron Man carries him out of there, then once they're safe from the gas Tony steps out of the suit to comfort the kid while he's given oxygen.
Little 5-year-old Peter Parker imprints on his savior hard.
He just went through an unimaginable amount of trauma, then Iron Man burst through like an avenging angel. This is the first time he's ever felt protected in his memory. Tony holds the crying kid, and the kid can tolerate no one else near him.
This becomes a slight problem when they get back to base. But Tony can't find it in him to let SHIELD take the kid away, let them strip him of this one tiny bit of comfort. He keeps seeing all those other kids when he closes his eyes.
This one needs him right now. And if "right now" eventually becomes "this is my son," well. Who could've predicted that.

Jason would never say what he felt out loud and neither would Bruce and they always hurt each other because between half-words Jason saw the worst in Bruce and Bruce saw a lot of his faults in Jason.

A commission of Parker and Faroe at the park, by the lovely @samglyph! It's for my little 'verse I'm working on and Sam captured how I imagined them so perfectly. Highly recommend working with them!

"But why did Gwen push Miles away like that if she loves him so much?" You ask as if in the same movie we didn't watch her father, the person she loves more than anything and the person that she thought that loves her more than anything, disown her right away because he learned one thing about her that he didn't like.

peter parker is selfish.
may and ben had given him everything, he spent nights sleeping comfortably; oblivious to the amount of stress his presence had given them, peter ran around the couples small apartment playing superhero’s while they figured out how they were going to feed a third person. he grew up more or less happy, and it was all because of them— they were perfect.
and what does peter do? he storms out after a stupid argument, he wanders down three different streets and ignores may’s calls. he screams at ben when he finds him, he refuses to go home, he gets ben shot.
when may found out, she didn’t look at peter with hate— there wasn’t a morsel of anger in his aunts eyes, she only held him and assured him that it wasn’t his fault, and isn’t that the most ridiculous thing? her husband was dead, and she was holding the reason he bled out on the alleyway, she was comforting the root of her grief.
and peter let her, he snuck into her room everytime a nightmare visited, letting himself fall back into her arms. he let her sign him up for midtown, he let her book his therapy appointments.
peter stood by and watched his aunt pull herself together for his sake, just like he watched his uncle get shot ( and just like he watched tony stark snap. )
so when may asks if he’s been eating breakfast, he’ll lie and tell her he grabs something on the way, when she gives him his allowance, he’ll slowly shove it into her savings jar, and when he gets a nightmare he’ll toughen up.
because yeah, he was selfish, he was selfish because he stayed. but he wouldn’t let himself be a burden again, he won’t let himself be put in a position where he needs help.
( and when he apologizes to mr.stark, half of his body gone and dusted. it’s because he knows what it’s like to watch someone you care for die, and he knows that his failure would leave a burden on tony’s shoulders. he knows that he’s inconvenienced someone again. )

Irondad fic ideas #159
Fic set in a universe where they never reversed the snap. The world has been grieving for 8 years.
Suddenly, one of the snapped reappears, but it is not Peter Parker. It's someone else (maybe Strange, Wanda, Bucky...)
There's debate about what to do. The returned person doesn't seem to remember much, although it's possible they remember more than they're letting on. Should the remaining Avengers study them, interrogate them, let them live out a peaceful life and forget about everyone else?
The debate gets way more intense when Tony Stark finds out what's going on. They've tried to keep it from him, knowing how he'd react, and he definitely lives up to expectations.
Of course they need to find out everything this person knows. They need to bring their missing people back. They need to bring back his son.
How hard will Tony push to find out the truth? to bring his kid home?
Bonus:
At some point, the person admits that they were lying about their memories. They're here because they fell through a portal. They're from another universe.
Except... they genuinely didn't know Tony had a son? They've never heard of anyone called Peter Parker. And yes, their universe does have a Spider-Man. Their universe even has a May Parker -- she died recently, btw. And it was Spider-Man's fault.
This awful news, and the horror story Tony infers from it, makes him even more determined to rescue his kid. Once they learn how to reverse the snap, he's going to make sure he lives to protect Peter from bullshit like what this other Peter Parker had to go through.
Still, he's heartbroken for the version of his kid in this other universe. Before sending the universe hopper back to where they belong, he tells them all about Peter and asks them to find him, to keep him safe. He may or may not send some tech with videos for all of their memory-zapped loved ones too.
This fic idea was inspired by this fic by @asyouleft!

Generally love how anyone who at least watched a little Horrid Henry agrees on one thing: those parents were beyond shit and Henry will very likely go no contact as soon as he's an adult.

sometimes I wonder if the reason why the fifth doctor struggles to have authority over his companions compared to his previous incarnations is because he’s simply physically too close in age to them.
assuming adric is around 16 and nyssa, tegan, and turlough are in the 18-20 range, and five himself is played by an actor in his late 20s — that’s on average about a 10 year age gap.
tbh I can’t imagine that a late 20s looking person would easily be able to order around an 18 year old, even if they are technically an ancient time lord.
