With the Straw hat’s latest win saving a village, obviously a party came in its wake as well.
Food, booze, music, fireworks all of it flooded the plaza of the small village. Everyone was drinking, partying and having the time of their lives. You giggle and laugh swaying your hips to the beat of the music, the flow of your pretty dress following your figure as you danced. But in this large open plaza of people, you danced solo. Tons of men had approached you, asking for your hand but you denied all of them. What you could say? They just couldn’t keep up with you.
Only one man in this world could.
And that man was currently stuffing his face full of food. Your captain; or as you knew him, Luffy. You giggled lightly watching him raid the table stuffing all the food he could in his elastic cheeks. The boy had such a one track mind that he didn’t realize he was missing the main course right in front of him. The shaking of your hips and the flow of your dress riled up many of the men in the permitter. Sanji, Brook, Usopp, even Zoro wanted a piece of you. But you just swiftly danced away from them.
She dances alone~
Then mariachi kicked in. All the spotlight on you, your glossy brown lips parted and you finally called his name. “Luffy~!”
The male in question swallowed the ham bone in between his lips. His wide, black eyes gazed around before finally landing on his darling’s figure. His querida.
How foolish of him, have you been dancing like that alone all night? Food can wait. You can’t. He let his greed take hold of him, but now seeing your figure move; Lust was about to take hold of him instead. It was then he heard the familiar tune, he knew this song and he knew it well. He rose to his feet his sandals clicking along the way as he made his way to you. A large smile on his face as he felt something else take hold of him. As he’s in your range he taps on Zoro’s shoulder singing loudly for everyone around him to hear including you.
“Compa, ¿qué le parece esa morra~?”
He doesn’t give Zoro time to answer or decipher what he had said. Instead he moved closer to your shifting body, a smirk on his face as he points straight at you.
“La que anda bailando sola me gusta pa' mí~”
You smirk right back at him, your swaying of your hips didn’t stop as you laid your hands in his. “Finally noticed me huh?” You flutter your lashes at the rubber man who matches your rhythm in seconds. He throws his head back and a giggling tone sinks into his singing.
“¡Bella! Ella sabe que está ¡Buena!”
“Damn right I am, and you ignored me for a slab of meat~” You teased him softly, resting a hand on his open chest and running your fingers over his scar. You had been picking up on a bit of Portuguese and Spanish ever since you and Luffy started dating. You didn’t know a lot but you knew enough to tell he was calling you sexy. He cuts his eyes at you, that hungry smile laced his lips as he feels your hands running up and down his exposed chest. His hands find their way to your waist and holds you in small dip.
“Que todos andan mirándola cómo baila. Me acerco y le tiro todo un verbo~”
“I was waiting for you~” Your eyelids get low and from that tone of voice Luffy could tell you were getting just as hot and bothered as he was. “Desculpe mantê-la esperando, minha rainha.” He whispers against the nape of your neck as he pulls you in closer to him. There was something so sexy about hearing his sexy, husky voice in a different language that you couldn’t explain. The raven haired male then pulls away, twirling you in place with his hand sending you into a giggle fit.
“Le dije, Voy a conquistar tu familia, que en unos días vas a ser mía.”
He smiles seeing your hair fall as he brings you back close to his chest. His thumb tenderly runs along your cheeks, feeling your cheeks rise as you smile. “You’re crazy.” You simply stated the truth and Luffy laughed in reply, giving you a grin of his own.
“Me dijo que estoy muy loco, pero le gusta. Que ningún vato como yo actúa~.”
He can’t hold it in any longer. He brings you in close to his body and gives you a longing kiss. He craved you, all of you. His hands dig into your backside as he holds you close to him. He doesn’t care about the others watching… he doesn’t care about anything else in this moment. Not food, not the others, no one else mattered but you.
As the music dies down, the two of you only pull away because of the need to breathe. You pant lightly, a string of saliva connects you to Luffy. The male’s eyes are half lidded and lust clouded his vision as he stares down at your figure. He felt himself throb in his boxers and groaned lightly biting his bottom lip.
“Wanna get out’a here?”
Tumblr media
“Ah~ L-Luffy!” You cried out as he pushes his length inside of you. He had placed his straw hat on your head and pushed you into an alleyway a few feet away from the party. Your panties tossed to the side and Luffy had freed his hard on from his boxers and pulled his shorts down. “Shhh… don’t wanna ruin the party.” He whispered to you slowly, a smirk on his lips as he slowly began to fuck you against the wall.
“Sorry for ignoring you~ fuck~ won’t happen again.” He groans out holding your legs up for you and pounding into you from below. “Ya look so pretty in this dress~ damn.” His cock reaches places you never thought possible as he thrusts himself inside of you. His dick pushing apart your gummy walls and reshaping your insides. All you could do is moan and wrap your arms around his neck gripping at his shirt’s backside.
The alleyway was filled with the sound of skin slapping, moans and groans. Lewd, dirty sounds that can only come from two people who are body to body. Luffy’s sounds are a mixture of laughter and groans as he couldn’t control his pace. His mind filled with nothing but pleasure and your body. “So… so fuckin’ tight… hmm~ I love you~”
Luffy groans into your neck giving you a tender kiss that turned into a love bite. Feeling his teeth break your skin you cried out in pain and pleasure. He muttered a quick “sorry.” Before lapping up the blood droplets from his teeth marks. His hat rocks on top of your head from each thrust inside. He feels that familiar hot feeling bubbling inside of him. His dick twitches wildly inside of you causing you to groan out.
“Gonna cum… gonna cum right inside of ya’.” He speaks half sentences and babbles on as his hips move even faster. He ruts against you and he chases his orgasm. Your back slides up and down the alleyway wall with the speed he’s fucking you at. Your moans get even louder and your hands grip the back of his shirt tightly. You feel a coil ball up inside of you, begging for release; his arousal had moved you to orgasm as well.
“C-Cumming! O-oh god~ Lu-Luffy-“ He eats up your moans by shoving his tongue into your mouth before slamming his hips against your body. His balls were kissing your slit with how deep he was. You practically melt feeling his seed shoot deep inside of you. Your gummy walls even sticker with his cum, your insides painted white. Your body pulses in response and that tight coil inside of you finally comes undone. Your walls gripping him tightly as you release your juices on top of his dick. The way your pussy chokes his dick makes his eyes roll back in his head. His dick responds in shooting all of the cum it had stored inside.
His cum and your juices overflow and start to leak out of your pussy. He groans out finally ending the kiss, his tongue hanging out of his mouth as another string of saliva connects you two together. His eyes are still half lidded as they look down at the mess he made of your pussy. He watches as his cum drips from your pussy all the way down your leg.
He smiles lightly, his eyes coming back up to meet yours as he leans in, your noses touching from the closeness. He giggles and you do as well as soon as you recover. “Sorry for ignoring ya~”
“Oh I think you made up for it, didn’t you~?”
She dances solo~, because she’s waiting for him.

What I have not finished yet are the "service" signs -- police, hospitals, banks, etc -- because I have some different meshes in mind for those (I love this mesh but it's definitely got a strip mall/shopping plaza kind of feel, and that seems a little sketchy for a hospital lol). They will be coming in part two!
These are on MogHughson's Illuminated Shop Sign mesh, which is BG compatible and is not included. You will need to pick up the mesh from the above link (I'll also link it near the download below). It is six tiles wide, but in case you want something smaller, I'm also working on a hanging sign add-on. Here's a peek:
Tumblr media
Probably should have zoomed in, but I wanted to show how it looks with the big sign, and then I got distracted by my little courtyard. XD
Icons are by Freepik, piksart, Luvdat, NT Sookruay, Vitaly Gorbachev, JunGSa, Smashicons, surang, justicon, ultimatearm, paulalee, iconriver, YI-PIN, smalllikeart, smashingstocks, Agung Rama, Futeur and monkik. Huge thanks for all their fabulous resources!
Numbered versions of the swatches are included so you can keep just what you like.
Whew! Okay! I'm going to work on the last set of hobby posters tonight, although I'm not sure if I'll have them done in time for tomorrow. D;
DOWNLOAD (SFS) | Recolors are ~1 MB! 🚨 Mesh is not included! Get it -> here. 🚨
Lots of love, Spacey

In 1678, a Chaldean priest from Baghdad reached the Imperial Villa of Potosí, the world’s richest silver-mining camp and at the time the world’s highest city at more than 4,000 metres (13,100 feet) above sea level. A regional capital in the heart of the Bolivian Andes, Potosí remains – more than three and a half centuries later – a mining city today. [...] The great red Cerro Rico or ‘Rich Hill’ towered over the city of Potosí. It had been mined since 1545 [...]. When Don Elias arrived [...], the great boom of 1575-1635 – when Potosí alone produced nearly half the world’s silver – was over, but the mines were still yielding the precious metal. [...]
On Potosí’s main market plaza, indigenous and African women served up maize beer, hot soup and yerba mate. Shops displayed the world’s finest silk and linen fabrics, Chinese porcelain, Venetian glassware, Russian leather goods, Japanese lacquerware, Flemish paintings and bestselling books in a dozen languages. [...]
Pious or otherwise, wealthy women clicked Potosí’s cobbled streets in silver-heeled platform shoes, their gold earrings, chokers and bracelets studded with Indian diamonds and Burmese rubies. Colombian emeralds and Caribbean pearls were almost too common. Peninsular Spanish ‘foodies’ could savour imported almonds, capers, olives, arborio rice, saffron, and sweet and dry Castilian wines. Black pepper arrived from Sumatra and southwest India, cinnamon from Sri Lanka, cloves from Maluku and nutmeg from the Banda Islands. Jamaica provided allspice. Overloaded galleons spent months transporting these luxuries across the Pacific, Indian and Atlantic oceans. Plodding mule and llama trains carried them up to the lofty Imperial Villa.
---
Potosi supplied the world with silver, the lifeblood of trade and sinews of war [...]. In turn, the city consumed the world’s top commodities and manufactures. [...] The city’s dozen-plus notaries worked non-stop inventorying silver bars and sacks of pesos [...]. Mule trains returning from the Pacific brought merchandise and mercury, the essential ingredient for silver refining. [...] From Buenos Aires came slavers with captive Africans from Congo and Angola, transshipped via Rio de Janeiro. Many of the enslaved were children branded with marks mirroring those, including the royal crown, inscribed on silver bars.
Soon after its 1545 discovery, Potosí gained world renown [...]. Mexico’s many mining camps [...] peaked only after 1690. [...] Even in the Andes of South America there were other silver cities [...]. But no silver deposit in the world matched the Cerro Rico, and no other mining-refining conglomeration grew so large. Potosí was unique: a mining metropolis.
Thus Don Elias, like others, made the pilgrimage to the silver mountain. It was a divine prodigy, a hierophany. In 1580, Ottoman artists depicted Potosí as a slice of earthly paradise, the Cerro Rico lush and green, the city surrounded by crenellated walls. Potosí, as Don Quixote proclaimed, was the stuff of dreams. Another alms seeker, in 1600, declared the Cerro Rico the Eighth Wonder of the World. A [...] visitor in 1615 gushed: ‘Thanks to its mines, Castile is Castile, Rome is Rome, the pope is the pope, and the king is monarch of the world.’ [...]
---
For all its glory, Potosí was also the stuff of nightmares [...].
Almost a century before Don Elias visited Potosí, Viceroy Francisco de Toledo revolutionised world silver production. Toledo was a hard-driving bureaucrat of the Spanish empire [...]. Toledo reached Potosí in 1572, anxious to flip it into the empire’s motor of commerce and war. By 1575, the viceroy had organised a sweeping labour draft, launched a ‘high-tech’ mill-building campaign, and overseen construction of a web of dams and canals to supply the Imperial Villa with year-round hydraulic power, all in the high Andes at the nadir of the Little Ice Age. Toledo also oversaw construction of the Potosí mint, staffed full-time with enslaved Africans. [...] Toledo’s successes came with a steep price. Thanks to the viceroy’s ‘reforms’, hundreds of thousands of Andeans became virtual refugees (those who survived) and, in the search for timber and fuel, colonists denuded hundreds of miles of fragile, high-altitude land. [...] The city’s smelteries belched lead and zinc-rich smoke [...].
The Habsburg kings of Spain cared little about Potosí’s social and environmental horrors. [...] For more than a century, the Cerro Rico fuelled the world’s first global military-industrial complex, granting Spain the means to prosecute decades-long wars on a dozen fronts – on land and at sea. No one else could do all this and still afford to lose. [...]
By [...] 1909 [...], mineral rushes had helped to produce cities such as San Francisco and Johannesburg, but nothing quite compared for sheer audacity with the Imperial Villa of Potosí, a neo-medieval mining metropolis perched in the Andes of South America.

——————————————-
a beach day was precisely what Jason and you needed after all the excitement of last week.
your trip had been going amazing and it was your last week here before going back to Gotham.
The first week you had spent it touring the island. Sometimes your mom would join you both, but it was mainly Jason and you. You wanted to show him all of the places you loved from your home. From beaches to plazas to San Juan and so forth, you showed everything you could to him and he adored it. Absolutely loved it. From the food, to the people, yo the music, Jason was at awe of your island. Spanish was rolling of his tongue easily and well let’s just say it was very hard to keep your hands off each other. The first week was amazing
The second, Jason met the rest of your family and boy did they love him. It is no secret that Jason is a sight for sore eyes. 6 foot tall, body that look like it was hand sculpted by Michelangelo himself to resemble a greek god, black hair with the white streak, dashing teal captivating eyes, straight white teeth, and now sporting a tan that made his skin glow, the Caribbean looked great on Jason. It’s no secret why sometimes you would wake up a little too late for things with you body a little too sore (wink wink). And because of that, the women in your family went wild. The second you brought this tank of a man home, you older cousins were left with their jaws dropped and your tias were already whispering with excitement. You had this one tia who was constantly competing with your mom for reasons you learned not to question long ago, who would constantly compare your achievements with one of your cousins, Sabrina, who was your same age to see who could one you the other and because of that your mother was busting with smugness. Her architect daughter who was a Wayne scholarship student and is a self made woman just brought home a man, that was not just attractive but the son of Bruce Wayne himself. You had warned Jason of this and seeing it himself, he was throughly amused. Oh his ego was through the ROOF. Your younger cousins were looking at him in awe, the girls with a small blush and the boys with admiration. Your tips were already smirking to themselves, thinking of which stories to share of their precious niece in order to welcome the new man into the family. And your grandmother, bless her heart, she clapped in happiness and rushed ti hug you both. “Ay mi niiiiiiña, desde cuando no te veo! Ay lo mucho q te e extrañado” she says as she hugs you tightly and you swear your heart fills with so much joy it will burst. She then turns to look at Jason and brings him for a tight hug and gushes over him, making him red in the face. “Ay pero que muchacho tan guapo! Dios te bendiga, espero q tengas hambre q hay mucho para comer” she said and Jason responded bashfuly, “Bendicion, dama, muchas gracias por recibirme en su casa”. Hearing the perfect spanish roll of him, big part of your family let out a sigh in relief. You smile at the exchange and once your abuelita leaves, you introduced him to the rest of your family. They adored him. The smaller kids would take turns on his shoulders, wanting to feel tall, the teens were all asking him questions. They boys thought he was the coolest thing to ever exist and the girls couldn’t stop telling you hot he was, making you laugh. Overall, it was such a nice night. At some point, you were too busy with everyone else, that you hadn’t notice Jason take you grandma and your mom outside for a sec.
You mom and your grandmother both stared up at him as he cleared his throat. “(your moms name) um (your grandmas name), las saque un momento por que quería pedirles su bendición para casarme con Yn, i know you have all been through so much and i admire your resilience, love, determination and strength, because of that, siento que son las personas indicadas para pedirles esto” he said and your mom brought her hands to her face, tears wanting to go down. You grandmother sniffed and took his hands smiling she said, “i never thought i’d live to see the day my darling granddaughter got married, thank you for making her so happy, tienes mi bendición”. With that she brought him to a hug, whipped her tears and left, leaving Jason alone with your mom.
Your mom smiled and whipped her tears, “Bueno, you are a good boy Jason, Yn has told me about everything, the whole fighting thing included” at that Jason opened his eyes but your mother shushed him before he could interrupt ,”don’t worry, cariño, confía que your secret is safe with me, plus im her mother coño, she can’t keep anything away from me. You are a good man, Jason. Sometimes we have to do immoral things to keep the one we love safe and that doesn’t make us bad. You and your family protect the city and the world i assume correct?” Jason nods and your mother continues, “then all i ask as i give you this blessing is to protect my little girl with the same passion and determination you put into your job. Esa niña es mi mundo, I got her out of the darkness, please keep her out.” She squeezes Jason’s hand and pulls him for a hug, Jason whispers in her ear, “I will protect her with everything that i have in this world, until my dying breath” and you mom pulls back whiles her tears and laughs. “Well, why don’t we go back to the party, i’m sure we will have even more reasons to celebrate soon” she says with a wink and both laugh. They walk back to the party where the celebrations continued.
After that party, everytime Jason and you were together, your mother and grandmother would send knowing excited looks to each other, waiting for you to make the announcement. The week carried on, with Jason and you enjoying time with your family. You went to the beach even more, visited el Junque, and went on road trips around the island. Your family adored him
Finally the third week arrived, and you both decided to stay the first two days in the hotel, it was at walking distance to a beach so you both had decided that on the second day you would go and have a picnic at the beach.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You had taken pictures, gotten in the water, laid down and read a book together, kissed, cuddled, ordered a pizza, the day couldn’t get any better.
You were busy trying to take pictures of the beach to send to the group chat you had with Nola, Barbara, Cass, and Steph, with your back to Jason.
“you know, some day, we should bring the whole Wayne Family here, they would love it! I mean now that you know my family, they will want to meet yours, and I just know Juan Pablo will want to show Damian all of the animals en la finca! Omg they would get along so well Jason! Although i would be a bit weary with Dick and his flirtatious tendencies with the girls, oh Lord they would be insoportable. What do you think?” you say as you start to laugh but stop quickly when you hear silence. “Jay” you say and turn around to find Jason standing there nervously, eyes watery, “oh my..baby qué pasó?” you say and Jason clears his throat.
“Yn, um you know, you flipped my life upside down the minute you came to it. I never thought I deserved good things. A poor kid from crime ally, who had the luck of getting adopted by a billionaire only to be killed a few years later by a maniac clown, and once I was resuscitated, i believed I deserved nothing. I believed that love was a myth, that love was a lie and that that lie would never ever deceive me. I have fought, I have killed, I have wronged and hurt people, and frankly, there were times I didn’t think i was a good man. Yes, my family has helped a lot, and i recognize their love for me, but you my dear, you were a breathe of fresh air in a world where i had been drowning for a long time. You were that light in the darkness, the calm in the storm. You are my sunshine in the midst of the darkness. You showed me i’m allowed to have good things and be loved. You helped with mending the bonds that had been broken with my family, you helped mend the heart that was broken by life, you helped bring life to the shell of a man i found myself being sometimes.” Jason sniffed, tears running down his face. You could feel your very own tears going down your cheeks, one of your hands was on you chest, above your heart, feeling the accelerated thumps of your heartbeat, and the other was covering your opened mouth. “Baby, mi niña bonita, mi princesa, mi sol, mi luna, mis estrellas, mi mundo, mi universo, you have bewitched me, body, soul, mind and heart, and I love you. I feel as if i’ve loved you from the moment we first talked and i wouldn’t be surprised if I did.” with that Jason got down to one knee, making you gasp and let out more tears, “Yn, will you do me the biggest honor and make me the happiest man alive in this whole fucking galaxy, and marry me?” You couldn’t form words and just smiled and nodded as more tears left your eyes. Jason stands up, picks you up, and kisses you, holding you as if you were going to disappear from his arms. He slips the ring to you finger and you laugh, “YES YES YES A MILLION TIMES YES!” you scream as you look at him in the eyes, happiness radiating of you both. “Te amo, Jason Peter Todd Wayne! Con todo mi ser!” you tell him and he nuzzles his nose to yours and responds, “y yo te amo a ti, Yn Ln soon to be Miss Yn Todd Wayne”. It turns out that this day could get better.
You laugh and quickly call your mom by facetime. Once she answers, you show her your ring and she screams of joy, showing your Aunt and grandmother, who both cheer. You laugh and thank them on their congratulations. Once you hang up, you take pictures and post it. Oh the batfam was going to flip! They had been leaving hints of you both getting married for the longest time and it seems their wishes were met.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jason laughs as you both pick up your stuff and return to your room. You both shower and change for the fancy dinner being hosted by the hotel and laugh at the comments his siblings and Nola were leaving. That night, TRUST that both of you were left quite satisfied and fulfilled with your after engagement celebrations once you got to your room ;) ;)

I was watching I Love Lucy on Pluto TV last night and it completely slipped my mind that yesterday marked Desi Arnaz’s 106th birthday.
His was a classic Riches-to-Rags, Rags-to-Riches Cinderella tale. Desiderio Alberto ‘Desi’ Arnaz y de Acha III was born 2 March 1917 in Santiago de Cuba, Oriente Province, Cuba, the only son of wealthy landowner Desiderio Alberto Arnaz y de Alberni II (a prominent Cuban politician, who, to date, was the youngest mayor of Santiago de Cuba from 1923 to 1932) and his wife, Dolores ‘Lolita’ de Acha y de Socías (one of the most beautiful women in the Caribbean, the daughter of a businessman, one of three founders of Bacardi Rum Limited, the world's largest privately-owned spirits company). Desi was of the small but vastly privileged, upper-class y de Acha, the descendent of Cuban nobility of whose colonial ancestors originated from Santander, Provincia de Cantabria, Cantabria, Spain. (His grandfather, Dr Desiderio Alberto Arnaz y Alberni I, was assigned to the first United States volunteer cavalry in Cuba, the ‘Rough Riders’ under the leadership of ‘Hero of Cuba’ Theodore Roosevelt during the Spanish-American War on 1 July 1898. To legend, they sieged San Juan Hill on horseback, and though the forged conquest did not belong primarily to Roosevelt, for the conflict was an integrated effort between the white volunteer regiment and the 1,250 black Buffalo Soldiers, the famed battle gained Cuba her independence from Spain—a victory for the people, the Cuban people).
At the height of the Cuban Revolution of 1933, Desi and his family were forced to flee their Motherland, leaving their riches behind. Following a brief election, the government collapsed with the removal of President Gerardo Machado y Morales from office in August of 1933. The opposing anarchists seized all political leaders and stripped them of their power. Among them, Desi’s father, imprisoned by the regime, before his brother-in-law, Alberto de Acha, intervened on his behalf, thus making his escape to Miami, where he was to remain in exile. Having lost their holdings to the rebels who confiscated their property (their palatial home, a cattle ranch, two dairy farms, and a vacation villa on a private island in Santiago Bay), his father sent for Desi and his mother, who took refuge in Key West, Monroe, Florida in 1934. When Desi washed upon the shores of the Americas, his father had established an import-export company, where the family of three took up frugal lodgings in the company warehouse and dined on cans of cold beans. Desi came to live in New York City and Los Angeles for about one year, where he tightened his belt for survival and scrambled for employment as a struggling musician. Following an engagement as a guitar player for a Latin-American band at the Roney Plaza Hotel in Miami Beach, and a cursory stint with the Xavier Cugat Orchestra in 1937, he made his Broadway debut in the Rodgers and Hart musical Too Many Girls, where he reprised the role for RKO's major motion picture of the same name in 1940. During the course of filming, he fell head-over-heels for the Apricot Queen, Lucille Désirée Ball. The couple eloped on 30 November 1940 in Greenwich, Fairfield, Connecticut. By 1949, at the age of thirty-two, Desi established himself a renowned nightclub entertainer as conga-playing band leader for the travelling self-titled Cuban orchestra.
Most Hollywood buffs would do well to remember the Power Couple formed by Desilu Productions—a celluloid empire built on the backs of Lucy and Desi’s American Dreams, despite the public scandals and tumultuous marital woes. But at the crowning glory of their golden existence, there are those who neglect Desi's legacy and his reluctant resignation to his fate as the Man Behind the Curtain, to remain in Lucy’s shadow so long as he lived. Lucy, of whose celebrity distinction was of higher standing than her husband’s. Desi, though undoubtedly talented, who was not exempt from the unjust ostracization and societal prejudice that plagued him as a Cuban Spaniard immigrant in racially-charged Hollywood. For those who clutched their pearls at the prospect of Middle American households who might've dismissed acceptance of the world’s first interracial couple on television, Lucy and Desi defied those expectations and dissolved racial barriers in an era dominated by cultural strife. Audiences of all races, colour, and creed came together to shower the Ricardos with adoration and praise, because they came to understand the Ricardos epitomized the human experience, no matter that they didn't reflect the typical post-war domestic demographic. Against all odds, the world fell in love with the All-American Ricardos… white, Hispanic, or otherwise. Lucy and Desi, to be envied by all... America's Sweethearts.
On his 106th birthday, we remember Desi for the pioneer he was, as the Mastermind behind the nation’s most Beloved Redhead.
Behind every great woman lies a greater man.
Perhaps Desi speaks for us all when he declared his everlasting love, in his own words... ‘I Love Lucy was never just a title.’
💓 Happy Heavenly Birthday, Desi.  💓

So I saw a post where you said Jake has a right to the Mayan symbols on his coat collar, but I've also seen people say Oscar Isaac is a white latino and also that he's "obviously a white man", and yet Oscar himself has also claimed being a poc/not white a couple of times, so I'm confused???
Assuming Jake/MK sys is Guatemalan like Oscar Isaac, personally I’d argue that he has the right to wear Mayan clothing. Mayan history is part of Guatemalan history, so even if Jake isn’t racially Mayan and as long as he’s respecting the culture, it’s still his culture.
Disclaimers: This is my opinion as a Mexican person of Yaqui/Seri/Spanish ancestry, some other natives/latines may disagree.
As far as I know, Oscar Isaac has never explicitly said what his race is. But considering that his mother is Guatemalan and 82 percent of the population is indigenous or has indigenous ancestry, and looking at his general appearance, it’s safe to assume that he’s Ladino/Mestizo(mix indigenious/European ancestry) and would therefore be POC. However, if Oscar claims to be POC/not white, just take his word. We don’t know his family ancestry, we don’t have his 23andme, and it’s not our place to speculate.
Because of colonization, most Latines are multiracial. A majority of the population is of mixed European and Indigenous ancestry. Slavery and immigration also play a factor a significant percentage are mixed with other European, African, MENA, and Asian ancestry. It depends on the region and its specific history in terms of slavery/immigration/colonization. For example, in the Caribbean they brought more African slaves than in Mexico so now, Cuba, PR, DR, and Haitian have a higher population of people with African ancestry than Mexico.
Latine is an ethnicity and not a race. There are white Latines like Anya Taylor-Joy, Cameron Diaz, Bella Thorne. etc. Oscar is almost certainly not one of them. The people who call Oscar Isaac white/white-passing are the same people who call Alexa Demi, Aubrey Plaza, Selena, etc. white/white-passing. Yes, all these people have European ancestry(based on appearance) but not exclusively. Calling them white erases their indigenous/African/other heritage. Not to be controversial but I honestly only think that people call celebrities like Oscar Isaac, Alexa Demi, etc. white is because they’re conventionally attractive and meet the European standard of beauty. That and the appropriation of black/indigenous physical features and fashion/culture by white celebrities like Kylie Jenner and Ariana Grande. Latines with their normal natural features don’t look like Jenner or Grande, they look like us because they paid to look like us.

Grubby, weed-filled concrete below, and grubby overcast skies overhead. The little plaza teemed with people – women with their hair pulled back and thick concealer hiding dark eyes, dragging grizzling children from shop to shop; bent-over old men shuffling along with zimmers and heavily darned cardigans; teenagers in identical colours and styles crowded seven onto one bench, hollering and laughing.
Jena, in her smart trouser suit and neatly coiffed hair, stood uncomfortably next to Aderyn, as the latter perched on a wall topped with scraggly bushes and litter, puffing away on a cigarette. "When I said I wanted to get to know your friends in GreyFox Securities, this wasn't quite what I had in mind," Jena said. "Relax." Aderyn grinned from behind loose auburn locks. "They're gonna love you." "It's not them I'm worried about. I thought we'd be meeting at your offices. Or in a waterfront bar." "Yeah? Little Miss Middle-Class don't like the view of London on the dole?" Jena crossed and recrossed her arms. "It's not that. I'm… a little overdressed." "Eh. It might work in your favour. See, there's a very special reason we're down here." Jena raised a querying eyebrow. "You'll find out. Oh, hey, there's Isleif now." Aderyn jumped down from the wall and ran up to a tall man with skin like Purple Trillium, the tight coils of his hair corralled by a bandana. He picked her up, laughing as he swung her around like she weighed nothing. "Isleif Etienam," Aderyn said, breathless as he set her down, "this is my friend Jena Simons, of the Blades." Jena held out her hand. "A pleasure to meet-urk!" She squeaked as Isleif pulled her into a hug. "Wonderful to meet you!" he cried, voice carrying the lilt of the Caribbean. "Our Little Bird has told us much about you and your fellows. It is good to see the woman behind the fuss, yes?" "Oh. Ha. Yes, of course," Jena said as she stepped back.
Two women – both with skin the umber of joss sticks – approached the party. More hugs were exchanged, as were introductions to Methredhel and Carwen. They gathered in a loose circle, and Isleif handed out gift vouchers to the local supermarket. "As everybody is here now," Isleif said, "I call to order this month's Unprosperous Alleviation meeting. Everyone knows the meeting objectives-" "Actually, d'you mind running over the rules," Aderyn said, with a nod towards Jena, "for the sake of our newbie." "No problem." Isleif grinned. "The name of the game is 'Put-Pocket', and the rules are simple. Pick a target – someone you think looks deserving of an extra £10 in their life – then reverse pick-pocket the gift card to them. We will meet up at the King's Head for lunch at 1300 hours. That gives you plenty of time to complete the mission objective." Jena raised a hand. "What if I can't pickpocket at all?" Isleif ran a hand over his jaw. "Well, other methods are available. But you cannot just give the money away. People are surprisingly suspicious of free items. Any further questions?" Carwen raised her hand. "Are we doing the same as usual – last to the pub buys the first round?" "If our guest is agreeable?" Isleif said, looking at Jena. Jena nodded. "Fine by me."
As the group drifted apart, Jena followed Aderyn. "Maybe I'm being dim," she said, "but I'm not sure I understand the point of this. I mean, the charity aspect, yes. But why go through all this rigmarole – why not just donate the money?" "It's the Fox's way of keeping us sharp, making sure we're practising our skills but keeping it positive-like. It's become a bit of a thing since Isleif joined GFS. He calls it a meeting, but it's more like a monthly friendly between the front-line personnel.
"As for why the money ain't just donated, there's only so much charity organisations and lobbying the government can do, yeah? People fall between the cracks all the time – not quite poor enough, not quite disabled enough. The Fox thinks a little direct action is better than nuffin. A little summint-summint to push through the end of the month." Jena glanced around. "How do you pick though? Everyone here looks like they could do with that extra something-something." "You gotta pay attention to the details." Aderyn lifted her chin. "See the kids on that bench, yeah? The girl right on the end." "I see her." "Look at her shoes. The other kids all got newish trainers, right? But not her. She's used duct tape on the hole at the front and coloured it over with Tipp-Ex she probably chaved from school. I'll bet anything she ain't that fashionably skinny by choice." Aderyn turned. "See that bloke with the pushchair coming out of Poundland? That's, like, a third-generation hand-me-down pushchair. See how patched over his polo is, and how it hangs off him? He's skimping on his own stuff so he can buy baby formula and nappies." She looked back at Jena. "You see? Devil's in the details." "Yeah, I think I'm getting it." "Good." Aderyn turned back to the bench of teens. "I've got my target. Good luck with your pick."
Jena watched Aderyn wander away towards the benches, placing an unlit cigarette in her mouth. At the end of the benches she stopped, patting her pockets, then nudged the girl they'd been talking about, asking her something. The girl turned away, calling to a boy at the other end. As she did so, Aderyn dropped something – a balled-up receipt perhaps – from her pocket. As she stooped to pick it up, Aderyn nudged the girl's bag. There was a flicker of red as the gift card slipped inside. Aderyn rose just as a lighter was passed to the girl, who offered it to Aderyn. Aderyn lit her cigarette, passed the lighter back, and with a nod to the teens, carried on her way through the plaza towards where the pub's sign swung at the entrance to an alleyway.
Jena glanced around. Of the GFS crew, only Carwen was still visible, leaning against the wall between WH Smiths and some local dry cleaner, eyes scanning the crowd rather than on the phone in her hand. Jena turned her attention back to finding a deserving mark. Picking out the details was a lot harder than Aderyn had implied. As she watched the crowd, a woman with a grizzling toddler passed beside her. The toddler seemed to be whining about some toy, while the woman explained – with impressive patience – that she didn't have enough pennies for it today. Jena watched as they moved away. The woman wore a skirt and plimsoll shoes which had both seen better days, while the child was in an outfit with the hems and cuffs turned up several times.
"Excuse me! Marm?" Jena called out, dipping as if picking the gift card from the floor. "I think you dropped this? Marm?" The woman stopped, looking back with a frown. "Me?" she asked, pointing at herself. "Yes. Did you drop this?" Jena walked up to show her the gift card. "No. That's not mine." "Oh." Jena looked around as if to see who else might have dropped it. "Well, I guess whoever dropped it is long gone now." She flipped it over as if reading the details. "Do you want it? It looks like it's for Iceland." "No. That's okay. Thank you though," the woman said, turning away. "Are you sure? It'll be wasted otherwise." The woman's expression darkened as she took into Jena's suit, one arm snaking across her chest, even as the other hand gripped the child's. "Too good for Iceland, huh." "No, I didn't mean it like that." Jena let her accent broaden, dropping from Received Pronunciation to her native Essex. "It's just we ain't got any Icelands down my way. It's all Aldi and Lidl, innit?" Jena laughed. "Don't let the fancy togs fool ya – I'm just a receptionist." The woman's arm dropped, her shoulders uncurling. She glanced around, as if expecting to see a camera pointed at her. "Positive you don't want it?" Jena said, making to set it on a wall. "I guess I'll just leave it here for someone else…" The woman watched her movements with wanting eyes. "Well, I mean, as long as you're sure…" "It's all yours, luvvy." Jena held it out. The woman took it slowly, eyes still darting as if suspecting a trap, and carefully folded it into her purse. Jena smiled. "Have a good day, Marm." "Cheers." Jena watched the woman hurry away, clutching the perplexed toddler's hand.
With a glance at the wall by WH Smith, checking Carwen was still there, she headed towards the sign of the King's Head.

Arts in Community
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is Artists’ Row in Salem, MA, where whimsical and vibrant colors with core elements of diverse communities and cultures represent today’s Salem. The walkway, known as Unity Path, blends symbolic mandalas, decorative features, and art murals to draw visitors in, encouraging them to explore and enjoy the place together. A team of community members and local artists filled the block with a series of decorative ground and wall art murals representing inclusion and welcome. The installation unites the work of a multicultural group of local artists, sharing ideas and symbolic languages and cultures represented in Salem today: Latinx, African American, Indigenous, Middle Eastern, Albanian, Brazilian, Dominican, Afrohispanic, Afro-Caribbean, Puerto Rican, South Asian, and European.
Artists’ Row is centrally located in the historic downtown Salem, across from Old Town Hall and Derby Square. Known as the heart of the city, it was originally built as a marketplace and continues to thrive as a public plaza and pedestrian walkway, filled with local businesses, restaurants and arts & crafts pop-ups. Bringing diversity together through the Arts allows communities to address issues and uplift the local arts and businesses alike.
Artists’ Row is inspiring because it represents community and collaboration. I realize that I thrive and work better with a group of like-minded people. Being a part of something, big or small, gives me joy and fulfillment. This is why I love being a GO Fellow. Step by step, project by project, we can truly make a difference. That is something magical!
