#Drake - Where Were You Lyrics

Both of you came to the same conclusion at the same time: neither of you can defeat the other in neither combant nor intelligence. You both have to accept defeat and form some type of truce before either of you accidentally kill the other.
You both paused in sync, you looking at Batman and Batman looking back, both frowning at the other. What do you do? You trained under the same people with the same stubborn, never-yielding personality.
You sighed first and hopped onto a low-hanging rooftop to be at his height. He decided to join you on the roof, sat beside you. Neither of you spoke for a long moment, just silently accepting the mutual defeat.
Batman broke the silence first. He said hesitantly but confidently,
"You'd be a better ally than an enemy."
You turned your head to look at him again. He looked so inviting and earnest. It seemed like he was trying to understand the reason you turned to crime in the first place. You eyed him carefully. What made him so good in the rat-hole that is Gotham City? He seemed to have grown up in Gotham, judging by his accent, so what made him turn out so pure? Even the rich kids of Gotham are often shady. There is only one family large enough, rich enough, and smart enough to be the Bat heroes.
"I have a kid to look after, Bruce. I can't afford to be a hero."
You whispered his name, but he heard you clearly. You watched him physically tense, so, to soothe him, you rubbed his back with one hand. You found that his back is also bulletproof, so you stopped after the initial touch.
"Would you join me if I paid you?"
You narrowed your eyes at him in thought. He was serious. He would actually pay you to be a hero instead of risking your livelihood to remain a villain. Your little girl would be happy to meet the Bats as well.
You were silent for so long, Bruce almost stood up to leave, but he heard you say quietly,
"Okay. We'll meet every night at the entrance of Crime Alley until we can trust each other enough to go to each other's home."
Bruce stood up in sync with you. You heard presumably Tim Drake starting to hum a Spice Girls song after Jason Todd fired guns in the same tempo. You laughed as Bruce sighed.
"You are so lucky I'm not there to strangle you!"
Jason hissed as another goon fizzled due to his crowbar. Tim started singing the lyrics in spite of him, also preoccupied by a fight. They seemed to have split from each other to stop different crimes.
"Focus both of you. We need to be on higher alert with Robin out of commission."
Bruce said, Batman tone immediately back on. He was far from amused by the situation. Tim replied, rather cheerfully,
"I sing to concentrate, Batman!"
Jason gruffly said,
"You only sing when you want to annoy people."
Two female voices joined in on singing. They all switched to Britney Spears songs at the same time. They seemed to have met up, then. Bruce frowned while you smirked. Yeah, you are joining that chaotic mess.
"B, leave the girlfriend, I need back up!"
You raised your eyebrows at Bruce, who seemed unsurprised. Every girl that enters his life becomes a "girlfriend." Truthfully, he was beginning to wonder if the kids just want a mother to look towards.
Bruce gave you one final look, and you immediately knew that he wanted you to join him as backup. You sighed but nodded and gestured for him to lead the way.
"Where are you, Red Hood?"
Bruce asked, full Batman voice and commanding. You watched him carefully. He could still turn on you, but you needed to be readying for another fight. Jason said,
"You know where I am, Batbitch. Just hurry!"
More gunfire is heard through the earpiece as Bruce pulled up the tracker information. He didn't think Jason had found out about the trackers he sewed into his suit because it wasn't cut out or crushed immediately. You looked at the information as you both drove to the correct location.
"He's getting pushed away from the docks. Maybe we should take the main streets instead of the alleys."
Bruce nodded as if he was thinking the same thing. He seemed more focused on getting to his kid than thinking, understandably, so you took over the thinking.
"You go to Jason, I'll focus on figuring out what is happening at the docks. He needs his dad more than he needs a stranger."
Bruce nodded, seeming to relax slightly. He won't have to be in two places at once now that he has you to do half the job. He knows he can rely on his kids, but they are across the city and equally busy.
You both scatter the second the car is parked. Jason was pinned to a back alley, and you were after whatever appeared to be at the dock.
You found out very quickly what was going on, and it enraged you. It was a child trafficking deal for the Court of Owls. It seemed like someone was looking to make some quick cash, and the Owls were hungry for more Talons.
You needed to be smart, however, so you started by releasing the kids while the adults were busy discussing transportation methods and payment. You whispered,
"Go, go, go!"
The kids listened as you slowly sneaked them out. You knew the streets like the back of your hand, so the kids would be able to find their way home from the centre of the city.
All of the kids were gone before the kidnapper was able to reveal their bounty to the Owl as Batman and Red Hood come in. Their only warning being machine gun fire before chaos erupted.
You smiled. You didn't need to join the fight to finish the job, so you left once all the children left, and you felt the situation was taken care of. Bruce will find you. You're certain of that.

â â â â â â â áŻ Ę Broken records Ę
âžș summary ; In which Tim falls helplessly in love with a rockstar. âžș Authors note ; Tim drake x Fem ! reader, possessive/controlling behaviors, obsessive behaviors, yandere, stalking. english isnt my first language. wc : 2,2k. Not beta read.
It started with Kon dragging him to a concert.
He hadnât wanted to go. Hadnât planned to stand in the middle of a sea of strangers with bass rattling in his lungs and neon strobing across his face like war paint. But Kon had smiledâso Tim came.
And the moment he stepped inside, he regretted it.
The noise. The press of bodies. The way people screamed the bandâs name like it was something holy. Like this was church and they were ready to bleed for it.
He didnât belong here.
Not really.
But then the music changed.
A guitar ripped through the airâraw, unfiltered, almost angry. Like the sound had teeth. Like it wanted to bite.
And thatâs when he saw you.
You werenât center stage. You didnât bask in the spotlight. But the second his eyes found you, everything else blurred.
You didnât beg for attention. Didnât demand it either.
But you held it.
The kind of presence that didnât ask. It just was. Like gravity. Like the undertow.
He didnât move.
Didnât blink.
Just watched you with something he couldnât name growing quietly in his chestâsomething slow and hungry and a little afraid.
You looked like a storm wearing skin.
And heâ
He was already lost. He didnât remember the rest of the song.
Just the way your fingers movedâsharp, certain, alive. The way your mouth twisted around lyrics that didnât ask to be understood. They were meant to be felt. And he did. God, he did.
The crowd screamed. You didnât flinch. Instead your eyes scanned the chaos like you were miles above it. Like none of it touched you. Untilâ
They landed on him.
It wasnât long.
Just a flicker. A glance across the dark, through the noise, through the lights that pulsed like a heartbeat gone wrong.
But it was enough.
It felt like being caught in a current. Dragged somewhere deeper than the surface, where breath didnât matter anymore.
He looked away first.
Didnât mean to. Just happened. Like his body knew he couldnât take much more of that gaze. Not tonight.
But when he looked back, you were still watching.
Still singing. Â Still playing. Still looking.
And for a momentâjust oneâhe let himself believe it meant something.
The song ended.
The crowd roared.
You turned.
Gone, just like that.
It shouldâve ended there.
One set. One song. One look.
But it didnât.
It clung to himâlike smoke in his lungs. Like something half-dreamed and half-remembered. He kept seeing your face when he closed his eyes. Kept hearing that guitar as if the notes were stitched into his ribs.
He didnât tell Kon. Not at first.
Didnât know how to say; âI think I saw someone who made the world stop for a second.â
But a few nights later, it slipped outâcasual, offhand, like it meant nothing.
âWhat was the bandâs name again?â
Kon raised an eyebrow, smirked. âDidnât think you were paying attention.â
Tim shrugged. âI wasnât. Not really.â
That was a lie.
Kon rattled off the nameâsome small, local group that barely had a footprint outside of Gothamâs underground scene. Niche. Grimy. Honest.
Exactly the kind of place Tim never wandered into.
But he did now.
He started researching.
Late nights blurred by in a haze of dim light and static audio clips. Grainy concert footage. Forums. Interviews. Nothing majorâjust enough to stitch a picture together.
Your name came up.
Not often. Just enough.
He read it like it was something sacred.
Watched every video he could find. Eyes locked on you even when the camera shook or drifted elsewhere. He didnât care about the music anymoreânot really.
He cared about you.
He told himself it was curiosity. That it would pass. That maybe he just needed a distraction, something to pull him out of his own head.
But the way your voice lodged under his skin said otherwise.
He started frequenting the places your band was known to hang around. Dive bars. Record stores. Venues tucked into corners of the city that didnât show up on maps. Always alone. Always hoping.
It didnât feel healthy.
It didnât feel optional, either.
And thenâlike the universe finally exhaledâ
He saw you again.
Not onstage.
Not surrounded by lights or noise or eyes.
Just sitting in a corner booth at a quiet café. Hoodie pulled over your head. Headphones in. A sketchpad open in front of you. Coffee cooling by your table.
You looked ordinary.
It was devastating.
His chest tightened, and for a moment, he just⊠stood there. Like maybe you were a mirage. Like if he blinked, youâd dissolve.
But you didnât.
You were real. Solid. Breathing.
He debated turning around. Pretending he never saw you. Letting the moment stay unbroken, safe in the fantasy where you didnât look through him like smoke.
But then you looked up.
Right at him.
And just like thatâagainâ
The world stopped.
You blink when you see him.
And thenâyou smile. Small. Tired. Real.
Like maybe you recognize him. Or maybe he just looks familiar in the way people do when theyïżœïżœïżœre meant to collide.
He swallows the knot in his throat, steps forward.
Careful.
Measured.
He points vaguely to the seat across from you, voice softer than he means it to be.
âIs this seat taken?â
You glance at the empty chair across from you, then back at him.
âNope.â
He sits before he can second-guess it. Slides into the moment like itâs something fragile he might break if he breathes too loud.
You take your headphones out slowly. Let them fall around your neck.
He tries not to stare.
You don't say anything right away. Neither does he.
And stillâit doesn't feel awkward.
It feels quiet. Safe.
Finally, he speaks. âI saw you play one night. At that warehouse venue. With the busted speaker and that guy who crowd-surfed into a ceiling fan.â
You laughâreally laughâand it does something to him. Knocks loose whatever part of him he pretends doesnât feel things.
âOh god, that night,â you say, rubbing your eyes. âI thought the fan was gonna kill him.â
âHe deserved it,â Tim says. âHe was barefoot.â
You snort. âBarbaric.â
The conversation unfurls like a thread pulled loose from a sweaterâslow, accidental, impossible to stop once it starts. You talk about the band. He tells you bits about Kon, vague hints about himself. You tease a smile out of him that makes your stomach flip.
Somewhere between your second coffee and his half-eaten croissant, it hits you.
This feels like a date.
You didnât plan it. He didnât ask. But here it isâsoft and unspoken, humming quietly between you both.
You glance at your phone. Then back at him.
He notices. âHey,â he says, voice light but careful. âWould it be weird if I asked for your number?â
You tilt your head. âAre you asking as a fan?â
He smilesâsmall, crooked. A little vulnerable. âIâm asking as someone who hopes this doesnât end here.â
You give it to him.
And just like that, something shifts.
The texts start later that night.
Little things at first. Jokes. Music recs. Half-thoughts sent at midnight that turn into full conversations by dawn.
You start looking forward to the buzz of your phone.
You start looking forward to him.
It doesnât feel like fallingânot yet.
It feels like leaning. Like letting someone close enough to see the parts of you that donât always sound pretty.
And he listens.
Every time.
You invite him to a practice session three weeks later.
Kon comes tooâbecause apparently, theyâre a package deal, and he likes your band.
Tim stays near the back at first, hands in his pockets, expression unreadable.
But he watches you like he did the first night. Like thereâs no one else in the room.
You try to ignore it. You fail.
After the second song, you catch his eye. And he doesnât look away.
Heâs there the next week.
And the next.
Somehow, he starts becoming a fixtureâalways tucked in the corner with a half-smile and that look in his eyes like heâs memorizing you.
You start showing him the stuff you donât show anyone else. Old lyrics. Rough demos. Songs that didnât quite work but almost did.
He never critiques.
He listens.
And when he talks about your music, itâs like it means something to him. Like you mean something to him.
You think youâre in trouble.
The good kind.
The real kind.
One night after practice, you walk him to his ride. The sky is bruised purple. The air smells like wet pavement and cigarette smoke from the corner bar.
You donât say anything at first.
Thenâquiet, almost shyâyou ask, âWhy do you keep showing up?â
Tim glances at you. His voice is low when he answers.
âBecause every time I see you,â he says, âI feel like Iâm where Iâm supposed to be.â
Thatâs when it happens.
That moment. The shift.
Your chest aches in that specific, dangerous way.
You donât kiss him.
But your hand finds his.
And you donât let go. That ended up being your biggest mistake. Because at first, you thought it was sweet. The way he showed up early to your sets and stayed late after rehearsals. The way his texts came like clockworkâgood morning, are you eating enough, be safe tonight. Like he cared. Like he was steady. Like he needed you okay.
But then it started shifting.
Subtly. Quietly. Like a storm building behind glass.
It started with your phone.
Miss a text, and another would come.
Then another. Â Each one a little more clipped than the last. Hey, everything okay? You good? Where are you? Whoâre you with?
Youâd blink and thereâd be ten messages stacked in a row. You told yourself it was just concern. That he was just wired tightâalways had been. But then he started showing up unannounced. First, it was the record store. Youâd mentioned you liked browsing there on Sundays. He didnât ask. He just appearedâshoulders tense, eyes scanning until they landed on you. Then it was the bar after your gig. Then it was your apartment. The first time, you hadn't even told him where you lived. But there he was, leaning against the hallway wall outside your door. Holding flowers. Smiling. Like it was normal. âFigured Iâd surprise you,â he said. You hesitatedâbecause part of you liked it. Liked the way he looked at you like you were the only thing anchoring him to the earth. But the other partâquieter, colderâknew better. Knew this was something else. Still, you let him in. That was your second mistake. Because once Tim got inside, he didnât really leave. Not physicallyâhe always went home eventually. But something of him stayed. His jacket on your chair. His playlist looping on your speakers. His toothbrush in your bathroom.
And the way he watched you. God, the way he watched you. Like he was afraid to blink. Like someone might steal you if he looked away too long. And the worst part?
He never said it. Never raised his voice. Never told you not to go out. Never forbid anything.
He just⊠made you feel like you were being selfish when you did.
You skipped a band hang one nightâjust to be with him. Then another. Then a meeting with your producer. It didnât feel like compromise. It felt like slipping. Like you were trading parts of yourself in exchange for not watching his face fall.
And when you did push backâjust a littleâ Like the time you went out with your bassist after a gig without telling himâ He didnât yell. Didnât accuse.
He just showed up the next morning, eyes rimmed red, voice quiet.
âI thought something happened,â he said. âI couldnât sleep. I checked the ER logs.â
You stared at him, heart sinking. âYou⊠what?â
âI had to make sure you were okay.â
You told yourself it came from love. That maybe he just didnât know how to handle it. That his life had been chaos, and maybe he was trying to hold on too tight because he didnât know how not to.
But that didnât explain why he started asking for your schedule. Didnât explain the time you caught him reading your journal when you walked out of the shower.
Didnât explain the GPS app you found on your phoneâone you didnât install.
That night, you confronted him.
His jaw clenched. âI just wanted to make sure you were safe. You go to these shitty venues aloneâwhat if something happened and no one knew where you were?â
âYou couldâve asked me,â you said, shaking.
âI did. You said you didnât want to be tracked.â He stepped closer. âAnd I listened. But then I worried. And I couldnât sleep knowing you were out there with people I donât know, places I donât trustââ
âYou donât have to trust them. You have to trust me.â
That made him stop.
For a long second, he just looked at you. And when he finally spoke, his voice was a whisper.
âI do,â he said. âThatâs why I canât lose you.â
You didnât sleep that night.
And somewhere between the hours of three and five, you realized something awful.
You didnât know when you stopped being in love with him.
You just knew that nowâit felt like drowning in someone elseâs need. Like youâd become the only thing holding him together. And if you ever let goâ
Heâd shatter.
But you were shattering too.
And you didnât know how to make him stop without breaking everything.

Batfam Goes to See Hamilton (Thanks to Jason Todd)
note: based on the fact that i saw hamilton on broadway today!
So, Jason somehow managed to drag the entire Batfam to see Hamiltonâbecause yes, Red Hood is a theater nerd, and apparently, none of them can say no when heâs excited about something. Hereâs how it went down:
Jason Todd: Living for it. Jason knows all the lyrics by heart and is practically singing under his breath the whole time. Heâs vibing hard to every song, mouthing along to My Shot like heâs in the show. Youâd think he was a one-man standing ovation from the way he keeps reacting to every scene. He also goes full nerd mode explaining all the historical inaccuracies and why they donât matter because the storytelling is incredible.
Bruce Wayne: Very confused, but engaged. Heâs trying to get into it, but you can see the gears turning in his head, over-analyzing every political angle and historical context. He does appreciate the themes of legacy, sacrifice, and honor (classic Bruce). He mightâve even shed a few tears during Itâs Quiet Uptown, but heâll deny it forever.
Dick Grayson: Having the time of his life. Dick is the one clapping the loudest, laughing at all the jokes, and crying during the emotional songs. Heâs completely caught up in the performance, and by the time The Room Where It Happens comes on, heâs all but bouncing in his seat. He also loves the choreography and probably made a mental note to learn the dances later.
Tim Drake: Secretly loving it but pretending to be indifferent. Tim walked in like he was only going to humor Jason, but by the end of Act 1, heâs fully invested. He tries to keep a straight face, but you can catch him mouthing the words to Wait for It and tapping his fingers during The Room Where It Happens. Heâs obsessed with the way the show mixes history, strategy, and storytelling, and heâs definitely taking mental notes on things to google later for a deep dive into historical rabbit holes. After the show, heâs already re-watching bootleg clips on YouTube, but if anyone asks, heâll just say, âIt was fine.â
Damian Wayne: Not impressed. Damian doesnât see the appeal. Heâs sitting there with his arms crossed, giving side-eye to everyone clapping or singing along. âI couldâve done better,â he mutters after Guns and Ships, but you catch him tapping his foot during Yorktown, and he seems unusually focused during the duel scenes. Maybe itâs growing on him⊠but heâll never admit it.
Stephanie Brown: Living her best life. Steph is totally into it. Sheâs laughing at all the jokes, especially King Georgeâs bits, and probably even got Bruce to crack a smile. Sheâs belting out Helpless and Satisfied in her seat and whispering excitedly to Cass about how they should come back for the next performance. Sheâs already planning a Hamilton-themed karaoke night after.
Cassandra Cain: Loving the energy. Cass isnât much for words, but sheâs totally feeling the performance. The choreography and intensity of the actors keep her fully engaged. Sheâs watching every movement with laser focus, and you can see her appreciating the way the actors tell the story through body language. Sheâs not super vocal about it, but afterward, she signs to Jason that it was âpowerful.â
Duke Thomas: Totally into the music. Duke is all about the beats and rhythm. Heâs vibing in his seat, really feeling the music and lyrics. You catch him nodding along during Wait for It and The Room Where It Happens, and heâs probably already added the soundtrack to his Spotify. Heâs impressed by the storytelling through music and keeps shooting Jason looks like, âOkay, you were rightâthis is awesome.â
At the end of the show, Jasonâs the first to stand up, clapping like his life depends on it, and despite the varied reactions, everyone else follows suit.
#tim drake#jason todd#dick grayson#bruce wayne#damian wayne#stephanie brown#cassandra cain#duke thomas#batfam#the batfam go see hamilton#they all leave with a ne found appreciation for musical theater and a few new songs in their playlists#i just watched hamilton on broadway and it was the greatest thing ever#phillips actor naruto ran up the stairs and i lost it#they did so good like i think the cast did soo good embodying the characters#i already wanna go again#the reactions arent well thought out so i dont think this is accurate to how i think they would actually react ykwim?

While heâs still trending, this is your sign to explore Kendrickâs discography. Heâs so much bigger than this beef with Drake (and the âbeefâ is so much bigger than âhe hates Drake!â but Iâm hoping we all know that by now). Hereâs some ideas on where to start:
The GNX album has incredible range . From hype tracks like âTv offâ to the introspection of âreincarnatedâ. Itâs a 10/10 (literally). If you only have the energy for one album, this is a solid pick. Itâs a good way to sample what heâs about and see where heâs heading.
After that⊠I mean for me itâs gotta be Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers. How do I even explain this? People who were surprised by âMeet The Grahamsâ had CLEARLY never heard âMother I Soberâ. This album will leave you staring at the void in stunned silence. Itâll make you feel empty inside but like⊠in an addicting way. Itâs a masterpiece. If youâre intimidated by the number of songs, I would AT LEAST hear âUnited in Griefâ and âmother I soberâ. (Drake directly referenced âmother I soberâ in his track âfamily mattersâ. He aimed low while ALSO misinterpreting the story like a fucking clown. Embarrassing af lol.)
2015-To Pimp a Butterfly. Depending on who you ask, this is Kendrickâs best work, and uh⊠yeah itâs hard to disagree. This is Kendrick in his element. A brutally honest examination of racism and violence wrapped in some of his most aggressive vocals to date (and I mean he LITERALLY uses so much growl on these tracks). But the MUSIC isâŠ. chill? Itâs also varied as hell. Itâs an evening of slam poetry backed by smooth jazz. Then heâll hit you with a slick guitar riff and some panicked breathing into the mic. The album is crucial to understanding Kendrick as an artist. Picking standouts on this one feels stupid (and everybody has a different opinion) but âAlrightâ and âKing Kuntaâ are classics. âIâ, âHow much a dollar costâ, âyou ainât gotta lieâ, âthe blacker the berryââŠ. Iâm just gonna end up listing every song. Iâm also a fan of theâfor free-interludeâ lol. Oh and âMortal Manâ. I honestly donât think there are any skippable tracks on this one. Just let it flow.
His 2017 album DAMN was a major success, and was how I got into Kendrick. If high school parking lots came with an OST, âHUMBLEâ wouldâve been our Green Hill Zone. Idk if that made any sense. Point is, it was popular as fuck. âDNAâ was another huge hit. The album sounds edgy and hyped, but the lyrics are an invitation for the audience to like⊠choose his fate. Itâs all about judgement day. Growth, reconciliation, criticism of fame. Itâs a shame that it got reduced to âomg humble is a banger!!â. The fact that Uncle Sam shouted at Kendrick to âTIGHTEN UP!â And he performed HUMBLE in response... Damn.
2011- good kid, m.A.A.d city. âMoney treesâ is a classic with a super chill beat. And the metaphor of âplanting money treesâ has become a huge part of his identity. Representing his literal desire to share the wealth with his community, and his desire to stay true to his roots. It was ALSO something Drake dissed him for âfailingâ to do (though his record of philanthropy says otherwise). The titular songs âgood kidâ and âm.A.A.d cityâ are iconic. âSwimming Poolsâ is often cited as his first big hit. Side note: The album cover featured a van (I think it was a Chrysler?) that became a symbol of Kendrickâs career. and Drake fucking destroyed it in one of his music videos. Bitch.
Thereâs so much. He also has a series of 6 songs called âthe heartâ that usually drop before a new album. He has a ton of other albums that I didnât even mention because this post is way too long. I know I skipped a lot of bangers so please let me know about them. Also this post 100% assumes everyone has heard â6:16 in LAâ, âEuphoriaâ, âmeet the grahamsâ and ânot like usâ because⊠I mean come on. Ok thatâs all. happy listening!
#kendrick lamar#heâs been making bangers for 20 years#and the posts Iâm seeing are a mix of âyay Drake beefâ and âplz donât reduce him to a beef heâs an artistâ#but I havenât actually seen people TALKING ABOUT his other work or making recommendations?#so like. idk hereâs some of his stuff to chew on#mr morale and the big steppers#to pimp a butterfly#gnx kendrick lamar#music recs

What is your favorite bar from the myriad of good bars from Kendrick Lamar involving drake, i.e. Euphoria, Meet the Grahams, & Not Like Us?
note: when I say "Drake" I mean the constructed pop star. when I say "Aubrey" I mean the human being and actor behind the narrative that is "Drake".
Euphoria my favorite bar from this track is the whole "I'm the biggest hater" refrain. i like it because that singular section alone completely obliterated Taylor Made Freestyle. by paraphrasing the late DMX's famous quote about Drake, he is demonstrating how you can respectfully and powerfully use words from the mouths of dead predecessors to discredit your opponent, further showing how much of a stupid tactless clown-show popstar-turned-con-artist Aubrey Graham is in using the AI mockery of Tupac's voice to taunt Kendrick, the current voice of the West Coast and-- to many-- the people's successor to Pac.
6:16 in LA with a slightly lighter tone than the other disses, i consider this song to be a person to person sit-down and final warning to Aubrey that Kendrick is willing to provide. he explains that OVO is full of moles and wires, Aubrey is being hustled with nobody on his side, and going as far as saying "you can't sleep, these images trouble you" hinting at the fact that he would be going after Drake's personal failings that he thinks about when he goes home at night and stops being Drake. which he totally did in meet the grahams. also, bonus points to my favorite rhyme scheme in the song, just cuz it's so much fun to say:
Your lil memes is losin' steam, they figured you out The forced opinions is not convincin', y'all need a new route
like, what a perfect little two-bar rhyme scheme.
meet the grahams in this song, the most powerful lyrics to me (and the ones that usually make me start tearing up) are the ones where Kendrick stops being sorrowful and starts being angry.
You a body shamer, you gon' hide them baby mamas, ain't ya? You embarrassed of 'em, that's not right, that ain't how mama raised us Take that mask off, I wanna see what's under them achievements, Why believe you? You never gave us nothin' to believe in
this reminds me of every traumatic scolding i ever received as a child. i think that the word "disappointed" isn't strong enough to convey the feeling here. something closer would be "let down", because Kendrick's whole thing recently has been peace and uplifting people. he was willing to tolerate the competition for the game, but there were so many times that he warned Drake to not mention Kendrick's family. ultimately, in this stage of their careers, what they were fighting for was not fame or power, it was their legacy. they were fighting over how they were going to be remembered, and Kendrick was not about to let his pacifism make him passive in watching someone pretending to be a part of his culture stain how he will be written about in the records of Hip-Hop history. in specific, i love the line "take that mask off, i wanna see what's under them achievements" because he is BEGGING Audrey to respond honestly, as himself. he is begging him to cast off the facade of "Drake" and speak with any amount of dignity, because at this point there was no more room to speculate on whether or not he actually was who he claimed to be with regards to his music. at this point, the consensus was pretty thoroughly in the camp of "the actor Audrey Graham has been co-opting the image of the American Rapper for his career".
Not Like Us i think i love the bar "he has all eyes on me and imma send it up to Pac" because it goes back to the core of what this is about to Kendrick in fighting for legacy. the media, specifically the white dominated media, sucks the culture (that is to say, Black culture) dry for all it's worth monetarily, and in the process there have been many twisted caricatures or unfair narratives left in the wake of black creatives who are no longer alive to defend their own names. there's an entire tangent about how tabloids disproportionately affect black creatives due to the very fact that white supremacy discounts the respect these names have to the (largely un-melinated) higherups in hollywood, and as a result there is less PR dedicated to keeping their image clean, but i think im not qualified to go off on it. the point is, Drake disrespected Pac's legacy (and continues to do so by owning his ring, really, instead of having it be in the possession of someone who's at least from the west coast), and Kendrick wanted to put some honor on his name. he made sure that he was not just mentioned in the shameful (Taylor Made) and angry (euphoria) parts of this beef, but also its most triumphant moment.

"No, You not a colleague, you a fuckin' colonizer" - Kendrick Lamar (Not Like Us)
I keep going back to that line since Lamar isn't wrong. Drake colonized what hip-hop used to be.
Back in the 70s, 80s, and maybe 90s, hip-hop was a culture revolution. It was anti-drug and anti-violence. It was where black people specifically could air out their anger. It was a form of empowerment and self-expression while simultaneously calling out political, social, and economic issues, media did demonised hip-hop during this time a lot due to this, which wasn't palpable to a lot of white people, (not saying that white people didn't enjoy it or also sang hip-hop). It was primarily seen as Black-American music, something they could claim as their own
Then, after the 2000s and the start of 2010, there was a change due to some people, and one of them was Drake. He didn't really understand what hip-hop (also known as rap) actually meant. So when he used it, his lyrics were mostly about women, sex and that. Sure, there were some times that Drake songs were serious, but it wasn't what it was before.
And since Drake became popular, it also dragged hip-hop into popularity, which led to what hip-hop actually meant and stood for to fade. Intentionally or not, Drake colonised what hip-hop stood for with his own meaning, and other rappers followed suit. It also meant it became more palpable to white people. (Media stopped demonising hip-hop after this because it lost the roots of political and social activism it had)
If you're wondering why hip-hop started to have a white rapper problem, this is kind of why, but there are also other reasons. Drake isn't the sole reason, but he is a cause in it.
Lamar ain't wrong that Drake was a colonizer because he colonised what hip-hop meant.
Added: Someone reblog that Drake is a popstar. While he is considered a popstar and does pop music now, he's started in hip-hop music, and the main inspiration came from hip-hop that influenced his style. Drake even has the most number one singles in R&B and hip-hop charts. It was a style he did steal from.

Why the obsession with Kendrick Lamar?
THIS IS THE ONLY ANON IâLL ANSWER TO AND THATâS BECAUSE IâM *SO* GLAD YOU ASKED. I WILL BE VERY FUCKING UNHINGED ABOUT THIS. BE WARNED. HERE'S A PLAYLIST OF THE BEEF.
((I'll be roleplaying as Karkat obviously but the Drake vs Kendrick diss is genuinely a hyper-fixation for me atm so Iâm gonna put everything under a readmore -ModKat))
OK SO BASICALLY, DRAKE BROUGHT KENDRICK INTO THE SCENE FOR HIS TOUR OF HIS ALBUM âTAKE CAREâ WHICH IS CERTIFIED MID IN MY OPINION. AFTER THAT KENDRICK RELEASED "GOOD KID. MAAD CITY" AND âTO PIMP A BUTTERFLYâ WHICH WERE FUCKING CLASSIC ON ARRIVAL. KENDRICK WAS THEN FEATURED IN A SONG WITH BIG SEAN TITLED "CONTROL", WHICH CALLED MANY RAPPERS BY NAME AND SAYING "I GOT LOVE FOR YOU ALL BUT I'M TRYNNA MURDER YOU (N-WORD)", BASICALLY SAYING KENDRICK WAS COMING FOR THE CROWN (I DON'T REALLY RECALL IF THIS HAPPENED BEFORE OR AFTER TPAB, I THINK IT WAS BEFORE. PLUS HE CHECKED WITH THE OTHER RAPPERS AND THEY EITHER ANSWERED ON SOME HIP HOP SUBLIMINALS OR WERE TOTALLY COOL WITH IT. HIP HOP *IS* A BIT OF COMPETITION AFTER ALL). AND WHO WASN'T HAPPY ABOUT THIS, NOT NOTICING THAT HIP HOP *HAS* A SIDE OF RAP BATTLES AND DISSING? DRAKE. HE JUST STARTED... WHINING ABOUT IT ON INTERVIEWS LMAO. HOWEVER, AFTER TPAB, KENDRICK FELT A BIT LIKE HIS MISSION TO SAVE THE WORLD WITH PREACHY CONSCIOUS SHIT HAD FAILED AND HE PUT THAT ANGER INTO HIS NEXT ALBUM, âDAMN.â, WHICH WON HIM A FUCKING PULITZER AWARD. THEN KENDRICK VANISHED FROM THE SCENE FOR AROUND 5 YEARS, PROBABLY DOING SOME SOUL SEARCHING, AND IN THE MEANTIME LETâS TALK ABOUT DRAKE.
DRAKE HAD ALWAYS SAID HE WOULDN'T GO INTO A DISS COMPETITION WITH ANOTHER RAPPER BECAUSE IT WAS NOT HIS VIBE AND "THE LYRICS WOULD BE SCATHING" (PARAPHRASING A BIT HERE). THEN WHEN MEEK MILLS, ANOTHER RAPPER, DISSED DRAKE IN A SONG (FUCK ME IF I REMEMBER WHICH ONE, THIS BEEF IS SO LONG), DRAKE RESPONDED WITH ANOTHER DISS AND INSTEAD OF WAITING FOR HIS COMPETITION TO RELEASE A RESPONSE HE DROPPED "BACK TO BACK" AFTER LIKE 3 DAYS, WHICH WAS A MASSIVE HIT, AND MILLS DISAPPEARED FROM THE FEUD THEN. DRAKE WON. THEN COMES ONE PUSHA-T.
PUSHA-T STARTED BEEF WITH DRAKE AND DRAKE RESPONDED WITH A (SURPRISINGLY GOOD) DISS CALLED "DUPPY FREESTYLE", WHERE HE MENTIONS PUSHA'S WIFE AT A THROWAWAY LINE ("I TOLD YOU KEEP MY NAME OUTTA YOUR MOUTH OR ELSE IMMA LET IT RAIN ON YOU LIKE VIRGINIA WILLIAMS"), WHICH IS SOMETHING YOU JUST. *DON'T* DO IN HIP HOP. PUSHA WAS MAD AND... WELL, HE RELEASED "THE STORY OF ADIDON", WHICH HAD THIS AS THE COVER ART AND EXPOSED THE FACT THAT DRAKE HAD A HIDDEN SON WITH A FORMER ADULT ACTRESS, AND HE WAS HIDING SAID SON IN ANOTHER COUNTRY FOR THE PURPOSE OF DOING AN ADIDAS CAMPAIGN AND REVEAL HIS EXISTENCE TO THE WORLD. SAID CAMPAIGN OBVIOUSLY NEVER HAPPENED AND DRAKE NEVER RESPONDED 'CAUSE LIKE. THE FUCK YOU SAY BACK TO THAT, *WITH IT BEING TRUE*??? HE WON OFF THAT, BUT INSTEAD OF DESTROYING HIS CAREER, THINGS ONLY WENT UP FOR DRAKE. HE WON ARTIST OF THE DECADE, ETC. IF THAT WAS HIP HOP'S FUTURE, OK FINE, BUT IT WASN'T A DIRECTION A LOT OF FANS WERE VERY MUCH INTO. UNTIL KENDRICK CAME BACK.
KENDRICK CAME BACK WITH "MR. MORALE AND THE BIG STEPPERS", WHICH SHOWED A VERY HUMAN SIDE OF HIM, IN MY OPINION. IT WAS RAW, IT WAS FAMILY, IT WAS EMOTION. WHEN HE CAME BACK, DRAKE ASKED HIM TO FEATURE IN A SONG ON HIS ALBUM "FOR ALL THE DOGS", BUT KENDRICK DENIED. SO DRAKE COLLABED WITH J-COLE INSTEAD, AND THAT'S WHEN THE STORY TRULY STARTS.
J-COLE MENTIONED KENDRICK IN HIS FEAT. VERSE IN THE SONG "FIRST PERSON SHOOTER", SAYING "LOVE WHEN THEY ARGUE THE HARDEST MC, IS IT K-DOT, IS IT AUBREY OR ME? WE THE BIG THREE LIKE WE STARTED A LEAGUE" AND THAT... WAS A MISTAKE. BESIDES HIS HEALING JOURNEY, I DON'T FUCKING KNOW BUT SOMETHING AWOKE INSIDE KENDRICK. MAYBE THE SPIRIT OF COMPETITIVENESS? ANYWAY, AFTER THAT KENDRICK HAD A FEATURE IN FUTURE + METRO BOOMIN'S COLLAB ALBUM "WE DON'T TRUST YOU" (YES THIS IS ANOTHER JAB AT DRAKE) WHERE HE SAYS, DURING HIS VERSE ON THE SONG "LIKE THAT", "FUCK SNEAK DISSIN', FIRST PERSON SHOOTER", "FOR ALL YOUR DOGS GETTIN' BURIED, THERE'S A K WITH ALL THESE NINES, HE GON' SEE PET SEMATARY" AND "MOTHERFUCK THE BIG THREE, (N-WORD), IT'S JUST BIG ME". THAT CAUSED AN UPROAR BECAUSE KENDRICK TAKING DIRECT SHOTS? AT BOTH J-COLE AND DRAKE? PEOPLE WERE EATING THIS UP.
J-COLE THEN RELEASED A MIXTAPE CALLED "MIGHT DELETE LATER" AND IN IT HE TAKES DIRECT SHOTS AT KENDRICK AT THE SONG "7 MINUTE DRILL", WHERE HE COMPARES EACH OF KENDRICK'S ALBUM'S QUALITY. BUT THEN DURING A SHOW HE SAID, AND I QUOTE, "I'M SO PROUD OF THAT PROJECT, EXCEPT FOR ONE THING. I DON'T REALLY FEEL NO WAY, BUT THE WORLD WANNA SEE *BLOOD*. [CITY NAME], YOU LOVE KENDRICK LAMAR, RIGHT? AS DO I" AND POLITELY EXCUSED HIMSELF FROM THE FEUD, REMAINING ON THE SIDELINES OF EVERYTHING HAPPENING. HE ALSO DELETED THE SONG "7 MINUTE DRILL" FROM "MIGHT DELETE LATER" WHICH IS HILARIOUSLY IRONIC.
AFTER "LIKE THAT", DRAKE, HAVING LOST *MASSIVELLY* TO PUSHA-T, FELT COMPELLED TO RESPOND. AND THAT HE DID, WITH A NEW DISS TRACK CALLED "PUSH-UPS". IN THAT HE BASICALLY MAKES FUN OF KENDRICK'S HEIGHT (HE IS 5'5 WHICH, BEING A LATINO TROLL, IS JUST THE AVERAGE SIZE OF MEN SO I MIGHT BE BIASED). THAT WAS THE ENTIRE SONG. EVEN THE COVER ART WAS A PICTURE OF KENDRICK'S SHOE SIZE, REFERENCING THE LYRICS "HOW THE FUCK YOU BIG STEPPIN' WITH A SIZE 7 MEN ON". IT ALSO HAD MORE JABS, SOMETIMES DOUBLE ENTENDRES, LIKE "TOP SAY DROP, YOU BETTER DROP AND GIVE 'EM 50" REFERRING TO KENDRICK'S DEAL WITH HIS LABEL, TOP DOG RECORDS, AND A 50% DEAL THAT MEANS HE'S NOT MAKING MUCH OVER HIS SONGS. THERE WAS ALSO A BIT THAT CALLED HIM OUT FOR COLLABING WITH POP STARS AT THE BEHEST OF HIS RECORD COMPANY ("MAROON 5 NEED A LINE, YOU BETTER MAKE IT WITTY. THEN WE NEED A VERSE FOR THE SWIFTIES").
AFTER THAT DRAKE TRIED THE "BACK TO BACK" TECHNIQUE AGAIN AND AROUND 1 TO 2 WEEKS LATER RELEASED A SONG CALLED "TAYLOR MADE FREESTYLE", WHICH IS... UGH. I DON'T KNOW YOUR STANCE ON AI, BUT AI SINGERS GIVE ME THE CREEPS. DRAKE USED AN AI VOICE OF BOTH 2PAC AND SNOOP DOGG FOR THIS SONG, CALLING FOR KENDRICK TO RESPOND. LIKE, BRO USED THE GUY'S HEROES TO CONVINCE HIM TO GO TO BATTLE, WHO THE FUCK HURT YOU DRAKE??? EITHER WAY THE TUPAC ESTATE SUED HIM FOR USING HIS VOICE AND DRAKE HAD TO PULL THAT OFF THE INTERNET BUT YOU KNOW HOW IT IS, ONCE IT'S POSTED ONLINE IT WAS EVERYWHERE.
THEN LIKE 3 DAYS LATER, KENDRICK FINALLY RESPONDED WITH "EUPHORIA", WHICH WAS BASICALLY A THESIS ON WHY AND HOW DRAKE SUCKED ("YOU'RE NOT A RAP ARTIST, YOU'RE A SCAM ARTIST, WITH HOPES OF BEING ACCEPTED"). THIS SONG GOES *HARD* AND I RECOMMEND YOU GIVE IT A LISTEN ("BUT DON'T TELL LIES 'BOUT ME AND I WON'T TELL TRUTHS 'BOUT YOU). IT HAS THREE DISTINCT ACTS, THE FIRST BEING ALMOST MELANCHOLIC, SECOND IS KENDRICK BEING KENDRICK, AND THE THIRD BEING THAT HARDCORE HIP HOP VIBE. EACH HAS THEIR UNIQUE BEATS TOO. BUT THEN IT WAS THE WEEKEND. AND THAT'S WHEN IT WENT BALLS TO THE WALL.
ON MAY 3RD, KENDRICK RELEASED "6.16 IN LA" WHICH WAS A DIRECT REFERENCE TO ONE OF THE WAYS DRAKE TITLES HIS SONGS. HE SAYS DRAKE IS A LIAR, HE WAS NEVER FROM THE STREETS (DRAKE GREW UP IN A NICE NEIGHBORHOOD IN TORONTO IF I'M NOT MISTAKEN), AND SEEDS A LITTLE BIT OF DOUBT ON US (THE AUDIENCE) WHEN HE SAYS HE HAS INSIDERS INSIDE OVO RECORDS (DRAKE'S MUSIC LABEL). LATER *THE SAME DAY*, DRAKE STARTED HYPING UP STREAMERS, EVERYONE, THAT HE WAS GOING TO RELEASE A FUCKING BOMB OF A SONG AND IT WAS GOING TO BE AMAZING SO LATER THAT DAY DRAKE DROPS "FAMILY MATTERS" WHERE HE BASICALLY ACCUSES KENDRICK OF BEATING HIS WIFE (???) ("WHEN YOU PUT YOUR HANDS ON YOUR GIRL, IS IT SELF-DEFENSE 'CAUSE SHE BIGGER THAN YOU?").
THEN, I KID YOU NOT, *30 MINUTES LATER*, KENDRICK DROPS AGAIN WITH "MEET THE GRAHAMS" (DRAKE'S NAME IS AUBREY GRAHAM), WHERE HE WRITES A LETTER TO EVERYONE INVOLVED IN DRAKE'S LIFE AND APOLOGIZING TO THEM, STARTING WITH HIS SON ADONIS, AND EVEN MENTIONING A SUPPOSEDLY SECRET SECOND CHILD, A GIRL AROUND 12-13. IT WAS DEVASTATING, SUDDENLY THE STREAMERS DRAKE HAD HYPED UP FOR *HIS* TRACK WERE ALL TALKING AND REACTING TO "MEET THE GRAHAMS" INSTEAD! KENDRICK PRETTY MUCH UNO REVERSED DRAKE, HE DID BACK TO BACK TO THE *CREATOR* OF BACK TO BACK. AND IT WORKED! MEET THE GRAHAMS IS NOT A SONG YOU LISTEN, IT IS A SONG YOU SURVIVE. IT ALMOST FEELS LIKE SOMETHING YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO HEAR. BUT I'M GETTING OFF-TOPIC. DRAKE DID RELEASE ANOTHER DISS BUT IT'S IRRELEVANT, NOBODY CARED AND ALL HE DOES IS UH. CALL KENDRICK SHORT, SAY HE'S LYING AND THAT THEY FABRICATED THE SECRET CHILD STORY SO KENDRICK WOULDN'T HAVE ACCURATE INFORMATION BUT. WHY BOTHER GOING ALL THIS WAY????? I DON'T KNOW, I DON'T BUY IT. LET'S JUST SAY "THE HEART PART 6" IS *TECHNICALLY* IN THE BEEF LIST BUT ITâS BY FAR THE WORST DISS IN THIS STORY. IT CAME AFTER "NOT LIKE US" TOO SO I'M GETTING AHEAD OF MYSELF.
THEN KENDRICK, HAVING WON OVER DRAKE, DID HIS VICTORY LAP WITH "NOT LIKE US", AN UPBEAT SONG CALLING DRAKE A P*DOPHILE AND CALLING TO ATTENTION HIS DUBIOUS RELATIONSHIPS WITH YOUNGER WOMEN (LIKE MILLIE BOBBIE BROWN AND BILLIE EILISH WHEN THEY WERE A MINOR). THE SONG WON A FUCKING GRAMMY AWARD, THE FIRST DISS TRACK TO DO SO. AND, LISTENING TO IT, YOU CAN SEE WHY. KENDRICK HELD *NOTHING* BACK. AND THE "A MINOR" DOUBLE ENTENDRE WAS A HIT ON START. THEN THE POP OFF WITH KEN AND FRIENDS HAPPENED WHERE KENDRICK PLAYED "NOT LIKE US" LIKE AROUND 7 TIMES, AND THEN CAME THE SUPERBOWL HALFTIME SHOW THAT MADE BE OBSESSED OVER THIS SUBJECT SO MUCH I HAVE THE ORDER OF SONGS FUCKING MEMORIZED.
HERE IS A PLAYLIST OF ALL THE DISS SONGS (INCLUDING A FEW I HAVEN'T TALKED ABOUT) IN ORDER.
IF I'M MISTAKEN ON MY LORE PLEASE CORRECT ME WITH AN ASK, AND IF YOU'VE READ THIS FAR, CONGRATULATIONS! FUCK YOU!
AND YEAH I'M NOT GOING TO COVER "THE HEART PART 6" BECAUSE FUCK THAT SONG, IT WAS DRAKE BASICALLY ADMITTING DEFEAT.

please check out this song terrific by drake bell because whenever i listen to it i kind of this being in armies p.o.v when seeing timothee out with kylie ( i know drake and armie arent friends and this song was out since 2011 but this is how i imagine how armie feels )

read the lyrics
Stranger things can change How your consciousness can fade Reason can compete With a drug that shares your name And there you are on cue where the light falls Waving at strangers wearing your name out
You are not yourself here You are someone else dear Aren't you terrific Aren't you terrific now
All the world applauds To the popular tricks you choose Who are they to stop When your hands are clapping too And you believe that it's an achievement Scratching them where they have no feeling
You are not yourself here You are someone else dear Aren't you terrific Aren't you terrific now
It was you Who spoke out when noone heard Oh yeah You're not as pure as you were
Vanity hangs you by threads And right now I wish some things were undone It's as natural as it is fun This is not the time to give up yourself to anyone
You are not yourself here You are someone else dear Aren't you terrific Aren't you terrific
If you saw yourself here You would be amazed yeah Are you terrific Finally terrific now

You're about to crawl inside my head and witness what happens when my hyper fixations collide. Listening to the new album by Erin LeCount and god does this album BELONG to the Monsters from AFTG! Lemme explain:
Nicky: "I am Digital, I am Divine" I think the song encompasses his desire to have his parents accept him and love him for who he is but it shows the moment of realizing they never will and they will never understand how upset that makes him. The following lyrics remind me of that last dinner together with Nicky realizing they will never recover. "We stand there in the kitchen. We both know that this is it, yeah. The milk pours down the sink and I'm having big feelings. Our love and milk expired. And I'm too tired to fight it"
Andrew: "Marble Arch" This song is perfection. It gives everything about feeling of being damaged and feeling unlovable but the desire to be deserving of love. This one makes me sob! "This body was my own before I met you" feels like a direct stab at Drake. "I am hard to love. Not what you thought. Am I? Am I? Am I? Is there a fault in my core? Did I do something wrong? Did I? Did I? Did I? There is no more love in my bones. This body was my home. This body was my own before I knew you. Now I'm hard to love. Am I cold to touch? Am I? Am I? Am I?"
Aaron: "Sweet Fruit" This song captures all the complicated feelings Aaron felt for his mother and the love he tried desperately to cling from her despite all the abuse. Meanwhile the chorus feels more directed at Katelyn as Aaron is essentially begging for someone to love him in the way he deserves! "I need a priest, a gardener, a doctor, a lover. I need someone (I need someone) To look through and see me, to rip out the weeds. Growing where my heart was."
Kevin: "Godsend" quite possibly my favorite song on the album. This one feels perfect for Kevin and his relationship with Riko and the ravens. They were his religion, he put everything he believed in this team and their abuse. Watching his growth in this series to break free from their ideologies makes me envision him blasting this song. The following verse feels like it could be directed to Jean as Kevin watches him become Riko's new victim and has to wait for Jean to wake up and see through the lies. "Godspeed to the girl after me. She's young and she's sweet, I wanna tell her one thing. "Abandon faith in everything you believe" The song that I sing will fall on deaf ears. Getting under her skin till the day it is clear. And we sing the same song about him."
Neil: "Silver Spoon" and finally we end with this song! At the beginning of the story Neil looks at Kevin and Riko with an envy of all the trauma he endured while they got to bask in the spotlight. A bit of a biased outlook but all the same I think Neil would greatly connect to this song. I mean just look at these lyrics "Cause I've changed my accent. And I gave a false name." And then let's check out the following lyrics that I think can relate to Neil's feelings for Andrew. He wants to ignore them in the beginning because of the damage and fear his mom drilled into him. But I think he makes a huge shift in perception when he realizes the foxes aren't holding anything against him. "I spilt the good wine, I panicked. A disaster, a knee-jerk reaction. Then everyone around us starts laughing. Is that how it's meant to happen? Oh, your mother said I'm always welcome. To visit, to take second helpings. I said, "No, thanks", I'm so full on resentment. That I learned to fend for myself"
So anyway...

Jus doin' sum random scrollin'. đ± - r3al' đ #mambamentalityđ
Call it mindless, yet we all (in some sorta way) do it. It'd been a minute since anything had been posted for Azine. Supposing it appeared as though only reviews about Ye, Drake, Billie, or Taylor were worthwhile, it still felt integral to take my time. I'd go as far as to say that my creative nuances were both amusingly and unapologetically unafraid of patience. Cut to what one could curate as chancing upon the profile for Canadian singer, songwriter, and dancer Kallitechnis's Ardene interview on YouTube. While snuggly lotus sedentary in a lounge chair Kassandra (a.k.a Kallitechnis) sorted words on some pretty deep stuff. (See, I'm the type to keen in what artists fr say alongside of winnowing amid whatever it is they craft.) All her talk about authenticity, longevity, and even therapy, backdrops her latest Single releases, to delicately while devoutly dream weave some of the most sensational late night Trap Alt. Soul/R&B that I'd ever heard. After hours of zoning out on Spotify & Apple Music, I'd seemingly stumbled upon a mound of sound designs showcasing that Kallitechnis latest releases, "KALEDISCOPE LOVE" & "SOFT LIFE, are sonic gems worthy of ethereal shine.Â
"KALEDIOSCOPE LOVE" is the most recent release by Kallietechnis.  Lyrically it's the lift off elements of romance dazzled in the depth of the "bedsheet ballets'" that hopefully accompany it. If you tap script Kallie's verses here, it'll literally take your breathe away. This 2024 Soul Over Ego Single release paints a sensual sonata, saturated in the palates of lovemaking by the likes of a Jhene Aiko, Victoria Monet, & fav Kehlani. My cherished over the two songs is the latter 2023 released, "SOFT LIFE", where the copulation carved crooning by Kallitechnics feels more assured in its contour.  Lyrics like, "Cocoa butter kisses on the back of your neck...No ones around, go and say it with your chest." sets up a between the sheet session, where direction details desire and more importantly: pleasures for both parties. The hedonism hails heavy here, and when ya place that alongside of Kassnadra's visceral vocal layerings, you're insatiably sedated into this âsensational style of lifeâ she's sojourning.Â
Both releases mode just a mere of the music you can muse through courtesy of Kallitechnis. For me it's the completeness interwoven in the listening experience of these two tracks. Detailing what it takes to call yourself professional in this or any realm is something I valued early on. The attention to detail, care, production, and most importantly the passion, tentpole sound designing success for any act whether indie or not. On that note, Kassandra does something else, almost effortlessly. She ate, and fanged deep into the fact that there are stars who are not signed. Stars: real artists who are crafting carefree of what seemingly fates, what often lacerates acts who sign with labels. Definitively, I'm the late night type. I'm good either playing the pull while out, or layinlow at the cribbo, playlsitin' on the MacBook with Apple TV or YouTube dressing the backdrop. Either in or out, this pair of indie soul sounds soothe both the mind, as well as those other places the sensations may align.đÂ

April 30, 2024 11 AM EST: "Euphoria" by Kendrick Lamar
11 days after the official release of "Push Ups" and "Taylor Made Freestyle" (17 days after the "Push Ups" leak), on a Tuesday at 11 AM, Kendrick drops his response. It is an over 6 minute attack on Drake's character, authenticity, parenting, and place in hip hop and black culture. It starts out with a backwards quote from The Wiz, "Everything they say about me is true", comparing Drake to the fraudulent wizard and gets better from there.
This is Kendrick's first full diss track against Drake and represents a tone shift. This is deeper than music for Kdot. He really deeply hates this man, but he also keeps this track principled. F.D Signifier says "he started the battle with this pure distillation of what hip hop diss records were traditionally meant to be".
Lyrics with annotations
youtube
Mod commentary: Kinda a perfect track. Kendrick is such an emotive rapper that even his dry monotone delivery of the first part builds anticipation for the switch up you know is coming. "We ain't gotta get personal, this a friendly fade, you should keep it that way." Is it? Is it friendly, Kendrick? If Drake didn't get personal, what would he have done? Was there ever really a chance Drake wouldn't get personal? I think Kendrick was confident there wasn't.
Pay special attention when Kendrick says "I can even predict your angles". He's not doing the 8 Mile thing where you list a bunch of disses against yourself, it's more insightful than that. It's about what what Drake's chosen angles of attack against Kendrick will prove about Drake.
Discussion question for the class: Did Kendrick intentionally combine actor Haley Joel Osment's name with televangelist Joel Osteen's name as a layered diss or did he just get Osment's name wrong?
Follow and turn on alerts to relive the beef as it happened.

Be My First - LN4

Relationships: Lando Norris x Lewis Hamilton!Daughter Reader
Summary: Lewis Hamiltonâs daughter attends the Miami Grand Prix, whereâafter the raceâshe parties with Lando at a club before asking him to take her virginity.
Warnings: Mentions of sex (no explicit descriptions), drunken antics, emotional vulnerability, English not first language.
The Miami Grand Prix weekend was one of the most electrifying of the season. The paddock buzzed with post-race revelry, and Y/n, Lewisâs 21-year-old daughter, whoâd taken a break from her exams to attend, was in her element. Here, she was adored, the epicentre of both chaos and infectious energy. Her friendship with Lando, a whirlwind of banter and mischief, had reached its peak, and by Sunday evening, theyâd escaped the paddock for a nightclub
The club was heavingâneon lights pulsed overhead, bass throbbed through the floor, and bodies moved in sync with remixes of Drake and BeyoncĂ©. Y/n wore a black crop top adorned with shimmering chains, ripped jeans, and trainers with neon laces. Her violet-streaked hair glowed under the UV lights, piercings catching the strobes. Lando, in his usual Quadrant tee and jeans, looked every bit the lad out for a laugh, his grin contagious
"Y/n, this is gonna be a legendary night!" he shouted over the music, handing her a luridly coloured cocktail with a tiny umbrella. "To Miami, to racing, and to us!"
"To us!" she snorted, clinking her glass against his. The usual shyness that held her back had dissolved in vodka and citrus. She downed the drink in one, eyes alight. "Lando, letâs dance!"
They crashed onto the dance floor, where Lando immediately launched into his signature flailing, off-beat moves, belting lyrics with zero shame. Y/n cackled, matching his energy, her hair bouncing as she jumped. One cocktail became two, then three, until they were both swaying, giggling at nothing.
"You know, youâre like a puppy," Y/n slurred, gripping his arm for balance. "Justâloud and everywhere at once."
"And youâre a kitten," Lando shot back, grinning. "All claws till someone pets you, then youâre a melt."
"I am not a melt!" she protested, but her laughter betrayed her.
By midnight, they were too pissed to stand. Lando, playing the "responsible"one, called a taxi, and they stumbled into the hotel where the drivers were staying. Lewis was on another floor, and with Y/n in no state to navigate alone, Lando steered her to his room.
Inside, he flicked on the light. Y/n collapsed onto the bed, hair splayed across the pillow, giggling at the ceiling while Lando fumbled for water.
"Landooo," she drawled, voice thick with drink. "Youâre so⊠funny. But donât tell anyone, yeah?"
Lando, equally worse for wear, chuckled, setting the bottle on the nightstand. "Yeah, secretâs safe," he said, perching on the edge of the mattress.
"Now sleep, rockstar. Lewisâll murder me if youâre knackered tomorrow."
But Y/n had other ideas. She sat up, eyes glazed yet oddly intent. The alcohol had burned away her inhibitions, leaving only reckless curiosity, questions that made Landoâs ears burn
"Lando, whatâs it like⊠yâknow, sex?" she blurted, leaning closer. "Like, Iâve seen porn, but thatâs not real, right?"
Lando froze. "UhâY/n, are you serious?"He rubbed his neck, flushing. "Itâs⊠not like porn, no."
She barrelled on, each question more mortifying than the last.
"So likeâyour dick. Does it just⊠sit there in your pants? Or like, fold up? Orâfloat in the bath? Tell me, itâs important!"
"Christ, Y/n, did you skip sex ed?!"* he yelped, fighting laughter. *"Iâm notâthis isnâtâno!"
"Only porn!"* she whined, waving her hands. "Câmon! Is yours big? Average? What?"
"Y/n, stop!" Lando threw his hands up. "Youâre pissed, Iâm pissed, this is a bad idea. Just sleep, yeah?"
But Y/n switched tactics. Her gaze turned pleading, voice softening. "Lando⊠weâre friends, right? I trust you. Youâre⊠good. Be my first?" Her fingers brushed his belt
Lando recoiled, catching her wrists. "No," he said, firm but gentle. "Youâre not yourself. Youâd regret this."
She tugged against his grip. "Why not?"
"Because youâre my mate," he said, holding her gaze. "And I wonât let you wreck that. Not like this. Not when youâre this gone."
Her face crumpled. "Dâyou think Iâm ugly? That Iâmâstupid?"
Lando exhaled. "Y/n, youâre brilliant. But this isnât about that. Youâre drunk. Iâm drunk. And Lewis would feed me to the sharks."
When she kept crying, he bundled her into a blanket burrito, holding her until her sobs quieted. "Sleep," he murmured. "Iâve got you."
She mumbled something unintelligible, tears soaking his shirt, but eventually, her breathing evened out. Lando waited until she was fully asleep before collapsing beside her, one thought looping: *Lewis is gonna kill me.*
Morning
Sunlight and hangovers arrived hand in hand. Y/n woke first, violet hair a disaster, makeup smudged. She groaned, prodding Lando awake. "Oi, Norris. What the hell happened last night?"
Lando cracked one eye open. "You nearly got us arrested. Go back to sleep."
She squinted, sensing a lie, but her pounding skull vetoed further interrogation. "If you posted drunk snaps of me, youâre dead."
Hi! What do you think about this? Please write your opinion, so I can understand what and how I should do better, thanks đ

Chapter Fifty-Three: Body Shots
Bruce licked the salt off of Taliaâs wrist, took a shot, and kissed her as he retrieved the lime from her mouth. He finally lay on her chest, laughing and panting after hours together. âBruce,â Talia laughed.Â
âIâm drunk,â Bruce giggled. Talia nodded as she tousled a hand through his sweaty hair. âYouâre myyyyy moonlight loveâŠâÂ
Talia laughed as she listened to him sing. She softened as he belted the words, soaking in the sweet sincerity of the song as he slurred the lyrics. The openness in which he expressed his excitement to be reunited with Talia, warmed her heart, swallowing up any darkness that followed her there. âYou should sleep, beloved,â Talia whispered in her fatherâs tongue. Bruceâs singing faded to humming, and she repeated herself, wondering if he no longer understood her.
âWeâll meet in the moonlight again,â Bruce sang in the same language, and Talia stared up at the ceiling, smiling with a warmth that she specifically reserved for him.Â
âWeâre drunk,â Talia whispered.
âI know. Iâm just⊠so happy to be with you,â Bruce mumbled, âIâve missed you so much. I wish tonight could be forever.âÂ
âI will remember tonight forever, beloved,â Talia whispered. Bruce climbed up the bed until he could kiss her cheek.Â
**
Bruce woke up early, his hair sticking up with salt, sugar, lime juice, and cocktails adhering to and staining his skin and scalp. He was naked and hard against her leg, so he rolled out of bed and started towards the bathroom before Talia stopped him. She ran her hands up his back as she rested her chin on his right shoulder. âAre you leaving?â Talia asked.Â
âHmm, I was gonna take a cold shower,â Bruce whispered.Â
âWouldnât you rather have sex again?â Talia asked. Bruce got back in bed and laid on his back while Talia climbed on top facing him. Bruce raised his knees behind her, planting his feet as he moaned. Talia hooked her hands under his knees, and he held her waist to give her a little more leverage. âHow was your reunion with Harvey?âÂ
âHold on. Hold on, fuck⊠Um, Harvey,â Bruce panted as he held her hips in place. âSex?â
âYes,â Talia replied. Bruce laughed. âIâm curious.âÂ
âHe was put off by the absence of my scar, but we went at it all night,â Bruce answered as he slowly started to lift her up.Â
Talia tossed her head back as she bounced up and down faster and faster. â Went at it? It sounds like you were fighting,â Talia laughed as one of Bruceâs hands strayed to her clit, circling with his thumb. âKeep going. Keep going.â Bruce couldnât think any further as he approached his threshold. He came inside her as she rode him, and he held on until she came a little while after. His dick slipped out of her, along with some of his cum, and she lay on his chest.Â
Bruce wrapped his arms around her. âI donât wanna go, but I promised my sister,â Bruce whispered. He kissed her cheek as he chuckled.Â
**
Bruce waltzed into the manor around six in the morning in his jogging sweats, humming as he sipped a coffee. Thomas turned around, and Bruce set his coffee down and grabbed Thomasâ hands, leading him in a dance. âI hear singing and thereâs no one there,â Bruce sang as he danced with Thomas in the kitchen.Â
âI called Harvey this morning. Whereâd you go?â Thomas asked as Bruce glided across the floor, dragging him along.Â
âI smell blossoms and the trees are bare,â Bruce sang, ignoring his fatherâs question.Â
Thomas chuckled. âCome now, chum. Whereâve you been? I was worried about you,â Thomas attempted to chastise Bruce, but he couldnât stop laughing. âPut an old manâs heart at ease. Have you been drinking?â
âI took a cab there and back. Howâs it going, dear old Dad?â Bruce asked.Â
âYouâre scaring me, here. Whatâs going on?â Thomas questioned in reply.Â
Bruce spun Thomas around and returned to their little dance. Martha and Alfred entered the room and watched, laughing. âYoung man, can you unhand your father for a moment? Weâve been worried sick about you. You havenât answered any of our texts,â Martha stated. Bruce traded dance partners, taking Martha on a waltz around the counter. âBruce Thomas Wayne.â
âAll day long I seem to walk onâ.âÂ
âA woman,â Martha realized, âLove?âÂ
âI wonder why,â Bruce sang. He kissed Marthaâs cheek.Â
âMaster Bruce,â Alfred chastised him, and Bruce took Alfred for a dance around the counter. Martha smiled and kissed Thomasâ cheek. âMaster Bruce.â
Bruce giggled. âI actually need to talk to Dad in private later,â Bruce stated as he held a finger to his lips. âIâm still a little drunk.âÂ
Thomas sat down and laughed. âDrink your coffee and eat some of my toast. Weâll talk later on,â Thomas replied. Cassandra came into the kitchen, rubbing her eyes, and Bruce picked her up.Â
âDid you ask Mom and Dad?â Bruce questioned. Cassandra nodded and smiled. âLetâs get started then.â
**
Thomas poked his head into Bruceâs room to see Bruce fast asleep on the floor. âHey, Bruce?â Thomas whispered. Bruce stirred. âBruce, at least get inâ.â
âItâs serious,â Bruce mumbled.Â
Thomas sat down on the ground, and Bruce lay over his lap. âWhat do you mean? Are you hurt?â Thomas questioned.Â
âNo⊠Itâs the opposite. I umâ. Last night, Iâ.â Bruce rolled onto his back and stared up at Thomasâ face. âDo you ever wish Iâd turned out different?âÂ
âNo. I wouldnât change you for anything in this world. Why? Did you do something you think Iâd be disappointed about?â Thomas asked.Â
Bruce rolled off Thomasâ lap and lay on the floor, staring at the ceiling. âI love her. I wouldnât be soâ. I love her,â Bruce whispered.Â
âWhat happened?â Thomas asked.Â
âI didnât use a condom last night,â Bruce answered.Â
âBruceâ.â
âI know itâs irresponsible, but she doesnâtâ. I wouldnâtâ.â
âBruce. Iâm not mad at you. Youâre an adult. I worry about you. I worry that youâre a little extreme, but I trust you. I try not to interfere too much because youâre much too old for me to tell you what to do or how to do it,â Thomas reassured as he lay beside Bruce on the floor. âWhatâs she like?âÂ
âOh, Dad⊠Sheâs unlike any woman Iâd ever met. She has this way of making your blood run cold when she walks in the room, but you speak to her⊠Sheâs soâ. Sheâs warm. Sheâs thoughtful, adventurous, and ambitious. I love her so much, Dad. Look at me,â Bruce whispered.Â
Thomas chuckled. âDoes Harvey know about her?â Thomas questioned.Â
âMhm. He knows her name and that Iâd been holding a torch for her. I canât explain it, but I know we were meant for each other. I havenât felt like this about anyone other than Harvey,â Bruce whispered. Thomas smiled. âOh! And Iâm not sleeping on the job. Cassieâs slumber party is almost completely planned.âÂ
âThank you for talking to her before you left last night. You made a big difference,â Thomas whispered.Â
âItâs the least I could do. I know what it felt like to be weird growing up. No one at home ever made me feel bad for being different. I owe that to her now,â Bruce replied, âWeâre both a little weird, but Iâm glad sheâs finding her way.â
âAnd Dick?â Thomas asked.
âHeâs in high school now. What made him weird back then makes him popular now. Just wait until his junior year,â Bruce laughed. Thomas laughed and shook his head.Â
âIf you say so, Bruce,â Thomas smiled.

Couldn't sleep and was bored, and kinda hate Drake so um
Drake's biggest fuckups I've caught on this beef
He loves trying to diss Kendrick for his height. Yk like a toddler would.
He tries to say Kendrick's Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers was a bad album. If we're talking critical reviews, it had a Metacritic rating of 85/100, compared to Drake's highest ever rating of 79/100 for Nothing Was The Same. In fact, Kendrick's lowest Metacritic score so far has been 80/100 for Section.80, again over Drake's highest.
...and if we're talking sales or streams, well first, no one ever challenged Drake's sales compared to Kendrick. I think we all know Drake is pretty much unmatched when it comes to that. Second, if sales were a factor to determine quality of music, then holy shit "Despacito" must be an all time magnum opus like nothing anyone ever heard before lol.
Trying to call Kendrick a sellout for doing songs with Maroon 5 and Taylor Swift? Drake calling someone else a sellout? đ€Ąđ€Ąđ€Ą
The line where he said Kendrick isn't on the big three because SZA, Travis Scott and 21 Savage "got him wiped down". Okay, first, I'm pretty sure this guy thinks big three means just "the three best selling" and uhhh no not quite. And second, and most obvious, SZA? SZA isn't even a rapper, why are you trying to bring her into this? đ
The AI to imitate 2Pac's and Snoop's voices. A few points here. First of all, the fucking disrespect to 2Pac, what the fuck. Glad Pac's family threatened him to remove it. Second, Snoop Dogg is alive. You just used his AI voice cause you know damn well he wouldn't be caught dead doing a verse on a Kendrick diss for you. And as a third point, it's just funny you felt like you had to use AI to make a diss track. Ghostwriters weren't enough for this one ig lol.
"Taylor Made Freestyle" was all just him begging on his hands and knees for Kendrick to reply something and give him some attention. Drake took almost a month replying to Kendrick's verse on "Like That". And he's begging for a response to "Push Ups" like a week after it was leaked (and the same day it was even officially released in the first place)
He tried to say the things Kendrick would diss him with. He was mostly right but oh boy did Kendrick do so much more.
Is he a Swiftie too? Cause he wouldn't let her go for "Taylor Made". In his mind, he swears Kendrick wasn't dropping a diss cause he didn't want to interrupt Taylor Swift's album's success, which is just a funny and dumb conclusion to make.
Spends the end of that track just talking, trying to praise Taylor for "managing Kendrick's schedule". đ€Ą
Drake beginning "Family Matters" with an n word and then going "yeah I said it I know that you mad" really came off sounding like when 12 year olds play online and say the word to seem tough. đ
"Always rapping like you trying to get the slaves freed". Dang so making songs that actually have substance and meaning means you wanna free slaves, okay.
About these next lines...

Kendrick said he hated the girls you fuck referring to your dumbass being a pedo and hated you trying to hook up with underage girls. Not at any point did he say anything about their color tf.
"I've been with black and white and everything that's in between" okay so all underage girls okay got it. Again that was never the point. đ
"You the black messiah wifin' up a mixed queen" Drake seriously missed the whole entire fucking point. Kendrick never said he didn't like you for hooking up with white women, what the fuck. And again the messiah thing is just funny.
He mentioned Whitney on "Push Ups", and some gave him the benefit of the doubt thinking he might have just done some wordplay about Whitney Houston being called the same as Kendrick's wife, wasn't clear enough. But these lyrics here are what made it abundantly clear he did want to try to mess with his family. I'm sorry but at this point that's not a rap beef, you intentionally tried to make it personal. Maybe you knew you never had a chance so you thought going there would make it possible to win? As if you didn't have a horrible fucking record already.
"Why you never hold your son and tell him 'say cheese'?" Maybe he doesn't want to expose him too much to the public while he raises him, decent human beings would understand that.
"We could've left the kids out of this, don't blame me" Kendrick said you don't know shit about raising a child based on information that was already abundantly public (see "The Story Of Addidon") and also based on the fact that you, despite having that child, love playing tough on IG and dropping disses using AI begging Kendrick to reply. Trying to get Kendrick's children involved is totally on you, buddy. Kendrick wasn't the one dealing with being exposed with having a child no one knew about and you wouldn't acknowledge.
He loves baselessly claiming that one of Kendrick's children isn't his. Again, baselessly, so literally just gossip lol.
And speaking of baseless stuff, he's really keeps running on his claim that Kendrick has beaten his wife. THERE IS NO EVIDENCE OF THIS. Like at all. In his mind, he probably thinks that since his easily provable bullshit was exposed, he'll try to invent some bs on Kendrick too to make it seem like they're both horrible people. The only piece of shit we know of in this beef is you, Drake.
Not at Kendrick but in a diss aimed at The Weeknd, Drake had to pull out his homophobic card. Disgusting. Fuck, it's so easy to dislike this guy. đ

Saying that Kendrick's music only "hitting hard" when Baby Keem writes on it. Is it cause he has writing credits on "N95"? He does ad libs on the song so I'm pretty sure that's why he's listed. Are the ad libs that fire? Lol
"Kendrick just opened his mouth, somebody go hand him a Grammy right now" awww he jealous bout Kendrick's Grammy's lol đ„ș
He brought up Kendrick's transgender uncle, and was transphobic to try to diss Kendrick. Just plain ignorant and disgusting as hell. But of course he did. đđ

Tried to blame Kendrick for 2Pac's family threatening legal action for his "Taylor Made Freestyle". Bro what you did was plain disrespectful and it was just bound to happen.
Did he really try to brag about the video leaked of him masturbating? đ€Ąđ€Ąđ€Ą
And this nonsense right here, was it cause he visited Ghana or something? He's trying to pin Kendrick as a racist? Huh?

...and follows this up with an ignorant, racist, weird ass comment dissing Michael Jackson too for no reason whatsoever. đ€Ą

Talking to the mirror here lol

Naming his diss track "The Heart part 6" was almost clever. Except for the fact that yk the song is fucking trash.
The first line on this song calls Kendrick "the Pulitzer Prize winner". Yeah pointing out an accolade as amazing as that one at the beginning of a diss towards him will definitely do it. đ
Having a comment by Dave Free as the cover for the single. Is this his evidence for a kid being his? đ
Saying you "plotted to give Kendrick information" doesn't even help you much when it's all easily believable based on your background lol.
Denying the child Kendrick is exposing him to have, again, doesn't help your case at all after Adonis.
Goes back to saying Kendrick beat his wife and one of his children is not his, again with no evidence or hint whatsoever, only to go and say he's all about "facts". đ€Ą
Okay so, be careful everyone, don't leave heart emojis to any child or baby post ever, cause Drake is going to think you're the father.

Why is he even bringing up Kendrick's confessions on "Mother I Sober"? How is bringing up a traumatic potential sexual abuse incident a good way to dodge your own sexual abuse allegations? And that's not even exactly what Kendrick said on the fucking song! It's just disgusting.

And then tries to ridicule Kendrick for being a victim of this. What the fuck is wrong with this mf.

Okay and this one is just cringe. He tried to spin Kendrick's jab on "Not Like Us". B sharp isn't even a thing btw. đđđ€Ą

"I'd never look twice at no teenager" there is literally video of you kissing a teenager on stage, for starters. So you just look at them once before you creep on them how does that work
"Only fucking with Whitney" ah yes the old "I'll fuck your bitch" trope very clever and original Drake
Drake believing some bullshit he saw around about Kendrick using bots to boost his view count is just hilarious. He really thinks Kenny sat down and took some time to actually do that. đđ
He thinks people will cancel Kendrick over his baseless battery accusations. đ€Ą
He ends it with another minute rant like the one he did on "Taylor Made", and starts by saying the beef was "some good exercise". Ngl it is the first time I hear Drake rap at all in a while. So yeah gotta thank Kendrick for getting Drake to actually TRY to do some good music at all. (It's not even good but yk better than whatever trash he was doing before the beef)
"Just let me know when we getting to the facts, everything in my shit is facts" *doubles down on baseless claims of battery and one of Kendrick's children not being his*
#music#kendrick lamar#drake#hip hop#rap#rap beef#fuck drake#it's okay to laugh at him y'all#he's ridiculing himself so by all means proceed#vonnie rants đ#vonnie talks đ

What if I told you none of it was accidental? Oneshot
A/N: this is inspired by the line âwhat if I told you none of it was accidental?â In mastermind by Taylor swift. Btw so sorry if this is trash, itâs 1:37am, Iâm not a very good writer but I needed fanfic lmao
TW: none
[this is set in an AU where Y/N is dating Tim but he doesnât know Y/N had it all planned it all out]
Word count: 367
Link to mastermind
Spotify Playlist
He planted a kiss on your forehead.Â
âHurry up I made us dinnerâ
âLemme take off my shoes first damnđâ
He had just gotten home from work. Tim was definitely a workaholic, but heâs always make time for you, no matter what.Â
As you chatted on, he joked that you were a mastermind itâs an inside joke lmao and so, as every girl who knows that song by Taylor swift, you started singing the song in your head.
âDinner was so good. Iâm gonna go shower, you should rest for a bitâ he said as he grabbed his towel.Â
âMhmâ you responded
âWhat if I told you none of it was accidental and the first night that you saw me, nothing was gonna stop meâ the lyrics repeated over and over again in your head.
And it reminded you of the first night you saw Tim.
You were walking through the gala. Your typical few groups of people. Nothing special. Socialites putting on fake personas, old ladies dressed like Queen Elizabeth, ambulance sirens in the background. because well its GothamÂ
And then you saw him - Tim drake. You knew of him, but aside from maybe business? He probably didnât know you existed. Either way, your extroverted ass walked over to him and you started talking .
Y/N: yo, youâre Tim drake right? Itâs Y/N. Y/N L/NÂ
Tim: oh, hi
Y/N, leaning against the table: galas suck bro. My feet hurt so bad
Tim: real.Â
After a while, after the initial awkwardness had faded away, you found out you both had a lot of shared hobbies and basically ignored everyone else until the gala ended because you two were to busy yapping away
Then, you snapped back to reality. Eminem reference yay âwhat if I told him I planned this all outâ your conscience was getting the better of you. No. You couldnât. You shouldnât. He probably break up with you and call you a stalker.Â
âWhateverâ you were quite good at ignoring your conscience, as you had done it on multiple occasions.
That night, before you slept, you thought of it one last time. Yeah no, Iâm taking this to the grave, you thought out loud.

The Bats and TTPD Songs
This is just me sharing what songs I think matches each of the bats and why :> i take no criticism /j
Bruce Wayne-- Cassandra
Hear me out okay, the lyrics:
So, they killed Cassandra first 'cause she feared the worst And tried to tell the town So they filled my cell with snakes, I regret to say Do you believe me now?
This whole song just reminds me of Bruce and his contingencies, like he's constantly prepared for any situation and he's had people who have gotten mad at him for it before.
Dick Grayson-- Who's Afraid of Little Old Me
God where do I even start? I want to write a whole fucking fic based off of this song and Dick Grayson.
So I leap from the gallows and I levitate down your street Crash the party like a record scratch as I scream "Who's afraid of little old me?" I was tame, I was gentle 'til the circus life made me mean "Don't you worry, folks, we took out all her teeth" Who's afraid of little old me? Well, you should be
In this case, he was bright eyed and innocent until his parents were killed in front of him. Then he became Robin, then Nightwing and this man went through fucking hell and he has survived.
Everyone sees Dick for his smiles and his kindness but this man should not be crossed by any means. He's fucking lethal and has gone through so much shit in his life and he's just not the same bright eyed, innocent kid he once was. And you should be scared of him.
Jason Todd--Robin
So technically this song is about Christopher Robin from winnie the pooh, but I think it also captures Jason really well.
You have no idea The time will arrive for the cruel and the mean You'll learn to bounce back just like your trampoline But now we'll curtail your curiosity In sweetness Way to go, Tiger Higher and higher Wilder and lighter For you
I feel like this song focuses a lot on loss of innocence and growing up tbh, like the person this song is aimed at has no idea how hard the world is, how painful things can be but that they'll learn to handle it and bounce back. IDK the first time I heard it, it reminded me of how Jason believed that Robin is magic and maybe even like Bruce or Dick singing this to him knowing what was going to happen to him one day.
Tim Drake -- Clara Bow
okay, so there's not just one lyric that really sticks out to me but the overarching story that this song tells. It's all about being replaced with the next big thing. Taylor Swift is compared to Stevie Nicks who is compared to Clara Bow and one day T. Swift is going to be replaced with something shiny and new and that just reminds me of Tim.
Tim is the third Robin, he replaced Jason who replaced Dick and one day he himself is going to be replaced. There's a lot of HC where he's aware of this fact, that he knows that his role as Robin is not a permanent thing, that one day, he too will be replaced. And eventually, he is.
"You look like Taylor Swift In this light We're loving it. You've got edge she never did The future's bright ... Dazzling."
Cassandra Wayne -- The Albatross
okay Cass was really hard for me at first to pin down what song fit her but then I listened to The Albatross and holy cow.
The devil that you know Looks now more like an angel I'm the life you chose And all this terrible danger So cross your thoughtless heart She's the albatross She is here to destroy you
I don't know quite how to explain how this song makes me think of Cass except for how it just makes me think about how she decided to take her life in her own hands and become her own person. She was pretty much created with one thing in mind and that was all that was expected of her but she's become so much more than that. Now she's strong and powerful but in more ways than just how David Cain made her out to be. She's caring and loving and she's going to destroy the idea that she was ever just a weapon.
Stephanie Brown -- I Can Do It With a Broken Heart
Listen, listen, this woman has been through so freaking much and she has come out on top and with a smile on her face the entire time. She is resilient and she isn't scared to fight Bruce Wayne himself if she needs to.
'Cause I'm a real tough kid, I can handle my shit They said, "Babe, you gotta fake it 'til you make it" and I did
I know this song is about dealing with a break up but when I hear it, i think of everything that Steph has been through. Her dad who's a rogue, her mom who is struggling with addiction, getting pregnant and giving her baby up for adoption, not being considered good enough to be Robin, the list goes on and on and yet she does it. She rolls with the punches and she swallows it down and she smiles through it all and I just friggen love Stephanie Brown so much.
Duke Thomas -- Florida!!!
Admittedly, I don't know as much about Duke as the others (I'm so sorry, I just haven't gotten there in the comics quite yet, I'm just now getting to the aftermath of the Red Robin run and I haven't read New 52 yet. so this is purely based off of WFA )
Little did you know your home's really only The town you'll get arrested So you pack your life away just to wait out The shitstorm back in Texas
This song just makes me think about Duke because from what I've learned, kid's been through a lot and he's had to move in with the Waynes after what happened to his parents. I think of Florida as a song of starting over, picking up your broken pieces and finding yourself once again and that just feels like Duke.
He's been hurt and he's now having to figure out what to do and where to run. Now he's with the Waynes and he's slowly finding his place with their insanity.
Damian Wayne-- thanK you aIMee
Okay but imagine this song is Damian at Ra's al Ghul okay? Stick with me buddy.
I built a legacy that you can't undo But when I count the scars, there's a moment of truth That there wouldn't be this if there hadn't been you
And maybe you've reframed it And in your mind, you never beat my spirit black and blue I don't think you've changed much
Damian has grown so much since the days he was still with the LOA and he recognizes that not only has he grown but he's done it DESPITE what Ra's did to him and that maybe a part of him is created by Ra's and he has learned to love that part of himself and he recognizes he wouldn't even be here if it wasn't for Ra's and his mother being conniving and evil. He's created a name for himself as Robin that goes against so much of what Ra's brainwashed him to believe.
Barbara Gordon-- The Bolter
And I can confirm she made A curious child, ever reviled By everyone except her own father With a quite bewitching face Splendidly selfish, charmingly helpless Excellent fun till you get to know her Then she runs like it's a race
This song just gives the brave, strong, independent vibes of Babs. Someone who lives her life to the fullest and embraces who she is. She's just powerful and she knows that she's amazing and she doesn't expect anything less from herself. She has gone through hell and she's come out of it stronger. She rolls with the punches, she doesn't let it stop her from her dreams, her desires.
Alfred Pennyworth-- I Hate it Here
I hate it here so I will go to Secret gardens in my mind People need a key to get to The only one is mine
This song just makes me think of Alfred when Jason died. That time where it's just him and Bruce and he's struggling to take care of his ward and he's also going through his own grief and unable to heal. I think Alfred has his own methods for taking care of himself, I think he's like the world's greatest compartmentalizer.
oh my god that got so freaking long lol. I'm so sorry. Anyway, y'all can listen to these specific songs here
