#Lilia *sees orphan child*

Okay I already mentioned the plot twist of Yuu ending up with Lilia because dat thigh game too strong. 🦵 💪😤 🤣
But here’s another plot twist: what if Lilia’s papa bear/adopt children instincts somehow get triggered and latch onto Yuu?
Like, obviously, he’s focused on protecting Silver from Yuu, but there’s been a couple times where we see that, when Silver is NOT there, they CAN coexist.
And this last post of yours, with Crowley telling Lilia he can’t keep kicking Yuu because of the structural damage… that made me think “huh. You know. Crowley is supposed to be taking care of Yuu. Like… Yuu is technically all alone here. Lilia is fae. Yuu is obviously older but like. A free child is a free child. 🤷‍♀️👀💀”
So now Lilia is trying to bring Yuu into the family and telling Yuu that Silver is now Yuu’s BROTHER and Yuu is like “NO. THAT’S THE LOML.” And now Yuu and Lilia are fighting for a completely DIFFERENT reason because Lilia is now determined to take in this poor child that had to SELL THEIR KIDNEY TO AFFORD FOOD WHEN THEY FIRST GOT TO TWISTED WONDERLAND DEAR SEVENS?! while Yuu is screeching that LILIA CAN TAKE CAN CARE OF YUU WHEN YUU MARRIES INTO THE FAMILY BACK OFF BATMAN!!!!
Meanwhile Silver is watching in sleepy confusion, Sebek in horrified confusion, and Malleus in just plain confusion (but he’s happy to be there 😊)
Sorry for the long ask - I just love that series and for some reason that idea just popped into my head and was super funny to me and I wanted to share with you since your series was what inspired it! 💜
Referencing this series
Lol, I love the idea of Lilia slowly developing affection for this problem child to the point of wanting to adopt him.
This be hard for different reasons than you stated, however, as Yuu has a strong aversion towards family for—reasons. He’s also fiercely independent and would rather tear himself apart than depend on others (and he has). (Though the kidney thing isn’t a big deal. He got another one later. Leona should be careful where he naps...) He’d also have to fight Crowley for custody.
You’re on key for Yuu’s reaction though. “You can have me as a son in law, Batty!” lol.
But if Lilia thinks that adopting him will stop Yuu’s pursuit of Silver, he’s got another thing coming. Yuu can call Lilia daddy and Silver hubby easily. (Down internet, you know what I mean.)
I’m so glad people are liking my Yuu and my silly little posts! And I love that people are willing to share their thoughts on the series. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feel free to send more!

Random thing, but between the boys who want to have children in the future who do you think are more open to have adopted children?
The question just came to me when randomly the thought "wait, what if Yuu doesn't want to get pregnant in the future?" came to mind
Ideally, none of them would mind. If it's what you want, then they are more than happy to provide! If we wanted to be a bit more realistic, there are a few where adopting might be an issue.
(I had to go through my brain again to remember who I think wouldn't have kids cause I couldn't find my post, but Leona, Ace, Jamil, and Idia wouldn't want kids so they aren't here. I can't remember if I had more or not on the list)
Kalim and Malleus are the first two where it would be an issue. Quite frankly, the people around them wouldn't allow it. The Asim family gives me the vibe of those who prioritize blood relations as family (if the 30+ kids didn't help with that already). Unless the kid was adopted as an infant and looked very similar to you or Kalim so that plausible deniability was possible, they couldn't risk it. Kalim is often dealing with death threats and assassination attempts just so the next member of the family can be the heir, if extended family were to find out that your kids (and thus next heir) wasn't blood related to Kalim, then there could probably be some legal issues with inheritance. Malleus, similarly, is under a tight leash with the Briar Valley's council that Lilia has been struggling to remove. I haven't seen much of Chp 7 so I'm working with very limited information mind you, but from what I can tell they are very traditional and extremely concerned with maintaining the Draconia (and the draconian part) bloodline strong. I feel that adoption to them would be out of the question with no hesitation. Neither of them I think would feel very strongly against it though: Kalim would see it as an opportunity to grow your happy family and Malleus I think would actually strongly relate, as he himself is an orphan. He'd see it as an opportunity to take after Lilia and give the love and care to a child that more than deserves it. If they really are set with adoption with you, then Malleus would have no trouble setting his foot down, he is the rightful ruler of Briar Valley and if he says that's his kid and heir, then that's his motherfucking kid bitch! Kalim I think would require that he's not only grown a sturdy backbone as an adult, but also a very ironclad will and testament. But it's not impossible, just very very difficult.
The next ones that would have some concerns about it would be Riddle, Sebek, and Ruggie. Riddle's case is a bit similar to Kalim's but not really. It's more so whether is family (specifically his mother) would accept his child being adopted. I think the fear of his kid being alienated from the family would be a lot for him, and I can't really gauge if I this Mrs. Rosehearts would be opposed to it or not, as well as whether Riddle remains in contact with her as an adult and still values her opinion as well. I think it would depend on the circumstances, sadly enough: if you were unable to have biological kids for whatever reason or if you could but would be extremely risk on your health, as a doctor I think she would understand. Sebek though I think would struggle internally a lot, he's not opposed to the idea of adoption at all, but he's so attached to his family name and his fae blood. I think knowing that he has a child that might not be accepted as a true Zigvolt for not being blood related (and potentially a human) would eat him up. He already had to deal with that himself (externally and internally, I'm not sure). But he's also been around Lilia a lot, and I think some positive reinforcement and encouragement from him would help a lot. Ruggie is very simple, adoption is so fucking expensive, man. That's a lot of fucking money, so he's willing to wait as long as needed to save up.
The rest of the cast I think wouldn't have any qualms about it, as there's no history or trauma that I think would affect their decision. I think Trey, Deuce, Azul, Jade, Jack, Rook, and Silver are the most eager to have a family, while Cater, Vil, Epel and Lila are okay not having any if you don't want any either. I think Floyd would greatly depend, as much as I love him, massive mood swings are not great for raising children so he'd need a lot of maturing to do, if he even wants kids (he keeps changing his mind about it, some days he's in love with the idea, other days he's pretty indifferent) but he wouldn't mind having kids with you. Silver would obviously love the idea, he's had a great experience and father, he'd want to pass that experience along to his own kid. So if adopting is an option, then why not! If it's what you want (and they think raising a baby with you is something they'd like to do) then who are they to oppose? They'll love that kid from the moment their eyes meet, as much as they love you!

concept: an orpheus/euridice retelling with lilia.
maybe it's a tale with general vanrouge as orpheus. you're his fae lover killed in the war. amongst the many heart-wrenching losses, there's one he never expected-- you, an innocent bystander, one who he tried to hide away from the horrors of war and yet lost all the same. he... he can't do this without you. there's too much responsibility on his shoulders. he can't mourn the loss of his loved ones without you. he can't raise this orphaned child, the only heir to the throne and the last hope of briar valley, without you.
somehow, the opportunity arises to save you. his devotion has driven him to a point of madness. this is what earns him an opportunity to rescue you from the afterlife. there's simply one rule lilia must follow: he may not, under any circumstances, turn around to look at you.
there's many interpretations of this myth. in some, orpheus fears he's been tricked by hades and grows doubtful of whether his beloved is really behind him-- he cannot hear her breathing, nor her footsteps, and in a fit of desperation, he turns around. others depict it as crueler twist of fate. upon reaching the surface, he turns to embrace his lover, only to find she's a few steps away from the threshold and thus never makes it to the land of the living once more. one interpretation has orpheus hear eurydice trip behind him and, on instinct, he turns around to soothe her woes and finds he's unintentionally failed the one task meant to save her.
general lilia's walk through the underworld is no exception. the man has grown desperate in your absence. the circumstances of the war seem to have toughened him into a strong, stoic soldier, but that has never been the reality. his soul yearns for respite. will there be a briar valley left standing after the war is said and done? will he even be alive to see it? the loss of his lover ruined him further. lilia's a wounded animal backed into a corner, baring his teeth with a feral glint in his eye. he's not well enough to handle this. he needs you back, alive, with him, to help him rebuild. himself. briar valley. please.
the sound of silence. the shuffle of a fallen body. the break of dawn illuminating the glimmer of hope in his eyes.
in the end it's all the same-- lilia turns around. you never make it back to the land of the living. the tale plays out again in the most cruel of ways. but does it sting you to know your fate has been, in both life and death, to be loved to the point of tragedy?

After reading a translation by Yuu Rei on twitter, I’ve been thinking about Book 7 and how this could potentially end. I know there’s been a lot of discussion of how this may need to be ended with a peaceful resolution since Malleus is so powerful and/or Idia’s plan is looking too much like Henrik’s very successful take down of Maleanor. Personally, I actually want to see Idia’s plan succeed to a degree and think it would be fun to defend why.
I’ll link it for reference here if you want to read the thread too: https://x.com/yuurei20/status/1672514883215331328?s=46
1. I personally would find it narratively fitting. History repeats itself when no one learns from it, and it was a previously mentioned lore tidbit that fae history is not well known among humans. And let’s be honest, anything that does exist on the human side for history would not be completely truthful on what happened with Maleanor if her fate is even mentioned. There has also been a lot of buildup with how overblots are dangerous to the health/wellbeing of the overblotter, and using Malleus to pay it off would both parallel Maleanor’s fate and nerf him for Book 8. A necessary action in order for the plot to not be immediately solved by Malleus’s ridiculous might.
2. I think it works with Malleus’s portrayal so far. He does have his good moments and traits, but I haven’t forgotten his tendencies to steamroll the opinions and perspectives of others. Take the Spectral Soirée for example, when Malleus decides to freeze time and kidnap a significant part of the student body simply because he sees himself in the lonely ghosts. No concern whatsoever for harm to his classmates or how it would look for an entire chunk of the student body to suddenly go missing. Or his dorm uniform vignette, where Malleus remains stubbornly insistent that it is the fault of the other housewardens or circumstance that he does not attend the meetings despite very reasonable measures to remind him having already been taken. Followed by a complete disregard for what’s polite/acceptable by summoning the other housewardens using magic reserved for objects because he doesn’t want to miss another meeting. The point I’m making here is that a massive rebellion like Idia gathering up his peers may be what it takes to get through to Malleus that what he is doing is not acceptable behavior just because he was afraid of Lilia leaving and didn’t want to be alone.
3. The last two books set a precedent for the shift from teaming up with solely the current and previous dorm to defeat an overblot to joining forces with students across various dorms. Combining that with the opportunity to build characters further by showing the NRC boys being capable of working together it would make sense for the big overblot battle to involve the other cast members like Idia’s plan intends to.
But I’m also kind of Malleus hater so take it all with a grain of salt. - 🦐
I am also kind of a Mallues hater and think his relationship with Yuu kind of gets overplayed by the fandom to an annoying extent at the cost of the character development and friendship of all other characters in the game by the English speaking fandom. In fic anyway, in game I appreciate him for what he is specifically for reasons like this, he's an interesting character.
I sort of disagree about Idia's plan looking too much like Henrik's take down of Maleanor. It might look like that on the surface to a fae who was there at the time but there is a big difference between Maleanor defending her territory and her child and the temper tantrum Malleus is throwing. To compare the two is disingenuous at best, which is why it is so narratively fitting that they might go down the same way.
I sort of get the sense that what happened is lost history because the fae eventually destroyed the human kingdom/ the kingdom destroyed itself. There is a reason Silver is an orphan and the fae keep to themselves. In a way Briar Valley seems sort of bad at history education? Which makes sense in a weird way, if you don't reproduce often and everyone lives for an age you sort of just expect to remember things and you don't always think to explain important stuff to kids. The point about needing to nerf Malleus for Book 8 is such a good fucking take I would be so surprised if the health complications angle didn't come up. I wonder if the consequences are worse for fae due to them being made of magic?
Malleus does seem to understand that his power is great and that it is meant to be used to bring people happiness... he just does not seem to see other people as. Well. People nor does he seem to understand the concept of dreams. In a way the ideals of someone like Azul are completely foreign to him because he's never had to work to be good at anything he's needed to do. Sure he might like learning to do mundane things like use a washer and dryer, but he doesn't need to do it and that's the only reason why he likes it. If he had to do it every day he would find that exhausting so yes, this plan does seem like the only way to get through to Malleus. He needs to realize he is treating people not like his subjects but his toys, just because Sebek is ok with that doesn't mean everyone else is.
Agree. I feel like the real threat in Twisted Wonderland, whatever it is, will need every student to work together in order to face it and not just a handful of students from one or two dorms. We still need to find out what's up with Grim and Crowley... and RSA if we're lucky!

me seeing bat!lilia crop up on the dash again
you guys don't understand how much i think about an au where silver lives a lonely life with his negligent uncle (cough henrik cough), finding small joys in the woodland creatures he befriends when all of a sudden it comes to him to save and nurse an injured bat back to health.
the soft comedy of lilia being a fae unable to transform back out of his bat form because of a curse (what could break it i wonder) and fully disgruntled and put out at having to depend on a small, useless human to help repair his wings. (will this child be able to change his perspective?)
the gentle bonding of boy and bat over time as silver dotes on the little creature and cares for it, gradually sharing all of his hopes and dreams and secrets with his quiet companion!! (and nightmares, the boy's status as an orphan a strange case indeed; lilia is not interested, surely not) petting delicately at its soft head and allowing it to ride in his pockets or on his shoulder throughout his daily chores
all culminating in silver breaking lilia's curse and running away to live with his bat!fae father in the woods happily ever after
(lilia leaves behind the mauled corpse of his boy's uncle in the house; a message to all who would mistreat and take advantage of his newfound son<3)

okay, i know this is a lot of screenshots but i really wanted to include them all in this post to convey just how much meleanor loved malleus and how incredibly distraught i am about it. when she's introduced, she's singing a lullaby to his egg about how she wants him to always stay with her and feel happy and safe, the kind of lullaby any good mother would sing to her baby. and then she starts raging hard and throwing thunderbolts everywhere because she and her egg are in danger, and lilia and baul, trusted members of her guard, are late in arriving to help. she's angry and frustrated and worried for her child, but she quickly softens for him, tries to sing him to sleep, comforts him when she thinks her thunderous anger might have bothered him, speaks of her belief that he'll become a bright, shining star for their people. she accepts the duel against the knight of dawn because she feels that as a mother, she must protect her child at all costs and joining the fight is the best way to do that. she has the confidence to believe that she'll win and come back home to her baby, but the wisdom to come up with a plan in case she doesn't. and honestly, it's kind of a crazy plan, to give an egg that needs genuine parental love to hatch to an orphan who believes himself to be incapable of love, but meleanor has so much trust in lilia and believes she knows him better than that, knows that he can love this child enough to nurture the egg into hatching. and of course, we know she was right. we know that although her participation in the duel may have been a mistake, she did it out of love for malleus and it's still thanks to her plan that lilia could grow to love him as well and hatch his egg.
but malleus will never know all of this, not really. sure, other people like lilia and baul and maleficia must have told him about his mother, about her incredibly fiery temper and her love for him that burned just as strongly, but there's a difference between being told that your mother loved you and actually getting to feel that love. meleanor died when he was still in his egg. he can't possibly remember what the smile on her face would've looked like each time she gazed down at him and held him as she sang him to sleep, or remember that the last time she would ever see him she entrusted him to lilia so he would be safe no matter what. he can't even remember the words to her song, only the melody, and he doesn't remember it came from her. in another translation i read he wondered if he heard it from one of his nannies. fae live such long lives, and he will live the entirety of his without ever knowing his mother who wanted nothing more than to be able to watch him grow up. i wonder how she would feel, seeing him hum her song to the knight of dawn's child--the son of the very man who killed her--to lull him to sleep and then humming it again later for the dark purpose of putting an entire island of people to sleep so he won't have to lose them. but of course, if she were alive for us to know how she feels, then all of this would've been a very different story to begin with.

Diasomnia Mafia
Malleus is the heir of one of the most feared mafias in the city. Diasomnia is not hidden in anyway. Everyone knows about it and everyone knows who they are. The reason they have never been taken down by justice is the simple fact that they are untouchable. What people see is that they are heartless criminals who think of nothing more but pain and blood. What they don’t see, however, is that they are a lot more than that. They control everything. With their money, they were able to fund many of the Al Asims charities and they even managed to put the Kingscholars in the city hall. Everything that goes down in the city is either carefully planned to their advantage or carefully monitored to make sure it won’t become a problem. One of such problems was a recent war with a very powerful gang. Not as powerful as them, but, unfortunately, they were able to cause irreparable damage, such as the death of Malleus’ parents. This event left a very young boy, so young he couldn’t even remember the sound of their voices or the look of their faces, at the head of the most feared family. Because of this, Maleficia, who had stepped down from this role years ago to let her daughter reign, came back in control until Malleus was old enough to take over. This also caused the issue that she couldn’t care for him, since she was constantly busy with work. In order to not leave him unattended, Lilia, who had been declared a traitor, was called back to play babysitter. And so, because of the tragedy that left him an orphan, Malleus grew to despise every other gang and family. He didn’t trust anyone other than himself and his own family. Trust was what made his parents lower their guard and leave a problem unattended. A problem which, ultimately, cost them their lives. He was decided he wouldn’t make the same mistake. He would be better. He would be the Lord everyone used to fear. It had been too long since the city had known the meaning of the Malevolence.
Lilia was Maleanor and Raverne’s closest friend. They were his whole world. When the tragedy happened, they were all attacked by surprise and he would have lost his life for them. But there was one small issue. Malleus was present. Maleanor begged Lilia to just take her son and go and, obeying what was both his leader and one of his other-halves, he took the boy and ran. To this day, he still wakes up in cold sweat, remembering the gunshots and the screams of a terrified child who was too young to understand. When they were found, Lilia wasn’t given time to explain. He was first suspected of having abandoned them in the fight instead of dying by their side, like he had sworn in his oath to the family. However, now that they had found the young missing heir with him, it was all clear. The attack had been planned and he was part of it. His job was to kidnap Malleus and hold him hostage until further notice from the gang. This, of course, was false. But with no other proof than his own words, Lilia could do nothing more than to accept his fate. The only reason he lived was because Maleficia couldn’t bring herself to kill him. He had been too important to her daughter to do this. Instead, he was exiled from the city, never to return again, and, if he did, it would be on sight. And so, he left. It wasn’t long, however, before they sent Baul after him. When Lilia woke up one day to find his old instructor and friend in his living room, he thought that they must have changed their minds. He was here to get rid of the dirty, worthless traitor that he was. Needless to say, he was quite surprised when Baul asked him to come back. He explained that his reputation had been cleaned thanks to some anonymous sources and that he was needed to take care of the heir. He couldn’t believe it and, frankly, some things had changed since he had left. He couldn’t go back like everything was normal, but, at the same time, he couldn’t abandon his godson the same way he had his best friends. So he took it upon himself to have a talk with Maleficia. If he was to come back, he could no longer be involved like he used to be. The safety of his own son depended on it. And so, Lilia became the father of what was meant to be mortal enemies.
Silver’s parents died in the war between his family’s gang and the Diasomnia mafia. His parents had been the leaders and, after the Draconia’s assassination, the family stopped at nothing to get their heads. Silver only barely survived the attack. His parents had sent him away, sensing the rising danger on their lives and, even then, the escape had cut it short, with his parents dying barely and hour after his departure. Following his parents directions, he had been left at a random house outside of the city, with no name to himself, not history. Only a ring. Little did the members charged with this mission knew that, the owner of the house was painfully aware of what that ring meant. Still, with a broken heart and all the self-hate of the world, Lilia still decided to take him in has his own. He wasn’t doing this out of the good of his heart however. No, he was doing this has a punishment. Not only would he have to live with the painful memory of his betrayal, but he would also live with the constant reminder of what he had done. Fate really could be some twisted bitch sometimes. Still, Lilia took care of him, gave him all the love of the world. Ultimately, Silver wasn’t responsible of what had happened. He didn’t deserve to be treated horribly because of his parents decisions. And everything was perfect, growing up with his older brother and his father, up until he found the ring. It was nothing malicious. He was just a curious little boy, snooping around and having fun inventing stories for the strange objects he found. The problem was that he went around showing his newest treasure to everyone, including the members of Diasomnia, and, where most had accepted Lilia back as one of their own, some were still convinced that it was a terrible mistake. So when his own son started showing around a ring of the enemy, a ring he had found in his father’s belongings, all hell broke loose. Because of this, Lilia had no other options but to explain where it came from, meaning he had to reveal Silver’s true identity. He had worked so hard to keep him safe and, now, everything was out the window, because the family had a mole in their ranks. Had it not been for Malleus shielding a crying Silver from the guns, he would not have made it out alive. And, still, here he was now, ruling over the most feared family in all of the city, alongside his one and only brother, Malleus Draconia.
Sebek grew up in the family, just like Malleus and Silver. The Zigvolts had always been part of Diasomnia and they were considered trustworthy allies. So, when Baul’s own daughter fell in love with a member of another gang, it had been the end of the world. He had tried everything to make her change her mind, but, if she was anything like her father, it was that she was strong minded. They had many fights about this, how it was a betrayal of the family and she would be killed for that. Even then, she didn’t care. At least, she would die with the man she loved. It was another story for her lover. He wasn’t that suicidal. He loved her, but he still loved living more. So, it was all fun and games until the threats started coming. It didn’t take him a day to cut everything off. Needless to say that she was devastated. First loves can be cruel like that. However, after she was done mourning, it was on sight. Baul proposed to do it for her, but she insisted she be the one to look him in the eyes when he takes his last breath. This is how she met her husband. He was a normal dentist, finishing up his day at the clinic, when he ended up at the wrong place at the wrong time. He witnessed what would become his wife and mother of his children kill her lover. He was convinced that, after seeing this, he would be next, but, fortunately for him, she didn’t do things in halves. When she saw him, it was love at first sight for her. Because of this, instead of being silenced, he was just kidnapped to ensure his silence. It took some time, but, after a few months of being held prisoner, he was allowed to go back to his normal life. On the condition that he would be closely followed of course. Years later, they slowly, but surely, got closer and closer, until Baul caught them kissing in the very same alleyway she had killed her ex. Fast forward some years, Sebek is born. Thanks to Baul and Lilia being so close, he was constantly playing with Silver and Malleus. The three of them were inseparable, which only served to bring even more painful memories to Lilia, who saw Maleanor, Raverne and himself in them. Seeing the way things were playing out, Baul and Lilia could do nothing more, but to wish and hope the story wouldn’t repeat itself.

Guys! I just thought of something about Lilia’s birthday! It’s not really a theory but a thought.
Lilia’s actual birthday is unknown since he was adopted and grew up with malleus’s mom. We also don’t know what house he was from except it was a household which were bat fae. (Killed possibly by the senators) We also don’t know if that household was called Vanrouge or that Lilia gave himself that name since he wasn’t a draconia member, and so he named him Vanrouge. (Even if he was adopted by the royal family. He would be look down upon by the senators if he ever names himself draconia)
But anyways, I don’t think the date January the 1st is his actual birthday. He was a orphan before being adopted by malleus’s grandmother. So January the 1st could be the day he was adopted or it is his actual birthdate. Not sure if he was found as a baby or a child that malleus’s grandma took in.
Anyways, let’s get to the main reason for why Lilia’s birthday could be important. Lilia’s birthday is January the 1st—the very day of when the new year would come for us. You remember how Lilia in the game can’t wait for the new year and what it would bring. What if it is the changes that occurs every year that would pass. The more things had changed the more he wishes for his birthday to come. To him, it’s a relief to know that there is no hate between the fae and humans like in the past. The faes are living at peace as does the humans in perfect balance. That is what Leveran had wanted. For lilia to witness the years passing as every birthday comes. He gets to see how the fae and humans are living together. It’s not him happy to know he’s getting older, but witnessing how the humans and faes are living together like what leveran had always wanted!

I might be getting this wrong but Mallenora and Lilia grew up together and Maleficia took Lilia in as an orphan right??
Do you guys think that Maleficia did that thing that mom cats do where, because she's full of maternal instinct because she just had a kid, saw Lilia as a lone child without a momma and just went "Excuse me that is My Child why is My Child all the way out here so far away from home I must bring him back This Instant."
...
Okay I just read up a bit on this topic to make sure I wasn't wrong and guess what I AM wrong and mom cats don't actually accept orphans so easily whoopsies but it's still funny to imagine Maleficia seeing little orphan Lilia and becahse she really wanted more kids she just decided he's hers now

TWST Spoilers for Chapter 7
Lilia never had a family.
He was orphaned as a child too young to remember his parents, and though he was fortunate enough to be taken in by the royals, they weren’t family. While they may have cared for them, it was clear that to Malefica, he was a servant first and foremost. And as for Mallenore, Lilia could never think of her as “family.” She may have seen the other as a brother, but Lilia did and could not see her as a sister. Not when his heart yearned for her differently.
And since Lilia knew he would never love anyone the way he loved her, Lilia thought for sure he would never have the traditional family. (Which was fine with him as he found children annoying. They were stupid, reckless beings who never thought about their actions and often ended up causing trouble for everyone around them. [They were like mini-Mallenores in that way.]
But then—tragedy struck, and everything he loved was taken from him. The castle he grew up in, the land where he had so many memories, was now lost to time and the ones he loved most.
For centuries, his heart was broken. So broken that he could not love, only hate. He wondered when that all changed?
Lilia wasn’t sure as it wasn’t a big event.
At first, he had avoided the egg, using the excuse of searching for Reven. The truth was that the egg brought back too many memories of those lost that he could not bear to be near it. Then one day, Lilia decided on a whim he wanted to see it.
The first time he saw it, it hurt. The sight of the unhatched egg made his heart cry out like there was a jagged dagger being twisted. He felt that it was an insult that it hadn’t hatched yet. Its mother—the woman he loved—died for it. So it could hatch and live. How dare it remain in this state?
However, that feeling was replaced with guilt as he realized it wasn’t the egg’s fault but his. Dragons needed love to hatch, and it wasn’t getting any, so how could it.
‘Mallenore made a mistake,’ he had thought. Lilia told her he wasn’t capable of love, yet she left the egg to him. And because of that, Lilia knew the child would never see the moonlight.
Or so he thought.
Time passed, and Lilia came to see the egg more and more. At times, he would hum to it, singing Mallenore’s song, telling stories of its father.
Then, one day—it hatched!
The egg hatched, and there was the cutest little dragon Lilia had ever seen. It had Mallenore’s eyes and his father’s tail. Lilia remembered cooing over its cute little wings when two seconds later it—he—burned Lilia’s bangs off. (Lilia was highly amused by this and proud. So much so that he raised a glass of tomato juice in the young Prince’s honor that night.)
After that, he started visiting the young Malleus more and more, teaching him to use his magic and defend himself. As Mallenore had said, Lilia had come to love Malleus greatly. But then, it was easy to love him as Malleus was the best of both his parents. He even looked just like his father.
However, the true test of his heart came much later.
A truce had finally been drawn up between the fae and humans and, despite all logic, Lilia revisited the castle where he had last seen Mallenore.
Lilia had wandered around the ruins of the castle, lost in memories, both good and bad. He had no idea why he had returned. After all, what was there for him among the dust and thorns other than pain? What was he hoping for? That he would arrive at this place where he grew up and would find his true love again.
Then he heard a cry echo out.
Instinctively, Lilia followed it to the throne room. The desperate wail bounced around the hall till Lilia found the source.
Hidden by the thorns and vines was a small crib. In that crib was a not-so-tiny baby.
At first, Lilia was bewildered by the sight. Then he saw the ring around his neck and the familiar aurora eyes, and Lilia realized who he was;
The baby was the child of the Knight of the Dawn, the one who had killed his beloved.
After confirming this with his magic, Lilia had reached out to rip out the child’s throat for revenge for all he lost, but then—he stopped himself.
Lilia told himself that the reason was to repay the act of mercy from the Knight long ago and for Malleus, to whom he swore he’d do anything—even controlling his rage. But there was another reason as well.
Lilia knew what it was like to be alone in the world with no one to care for you. And this baby had been alone for four hundred years.
And now, it was before him, begging for any form of affection after being lost to time for so long, and as its cries grew, so did the cracks in Lilia’s heart.
‘It wants love, but can I give it?’ he had wondered. ‘Am I truly capable of loving you despite…’ He didn’t think so. But then he thought the same in the past about Malleus, and he had been mistaken as there was nothing he loved more than that boy. Maybe he was wrong again.
So even though he was unsure if he could ever give the thing love, Lilia picked up the baby and took him home, calling him Silver.
Years passed since that day, and now Lilia stood in the present at Night Raven with all three of his boys, beaming brightly as they all stood in their matching costumes.
“All of you gather together!” Lilia called as he held up his phone. “I want a picture of you all together!” As his boys cluttered together for a Halloween photo, Lilia smiled. The old general never thought he would have a family. Yet here he was, celebrating Halloween with them.
“Say Happy Halloween!” he called.
“Happy Halloween!”

TWST Book 7 Chapter 5 Thoughts:
Spoilers under the cut, also I'm basically typing this out as I play so it's like a liveblog sort of.
Malenora is That Bitch
Sorry, ahem. Malenora is a QUEEN (technically a Princess but my point stands)
Absolutely loving her design aaaaahhhh! The horns! The headpiece! The DRIP!
Sorry, I'll try to stop simping.
You can see such an intense resemblance between Malenora and Malleus obviously in appearance but also personality.
They both breathe confidence and self assurance because they're so powerful, both are fairly temperamental, though Malenora seems to be more brash and lashes out with tantrums while Malleus - perhaps due to his father - tends to sulk more than he does explode with anger, though the lightning and bad weather happens with both of them.
Moving on, her relationship with Lilia is interesting. You definitely get the sense that he may have harbored romantic feelings for her when they were younger but at this point truly loves her as something even beyond that, and different.
I swear I nearly started crying in public when they were squabbling over Lilia taking the Egg and leaving Malenora to fight the Knight of Dawn and Lilia was like I can't love this baby for you, I've never loved anybody, I still need you, this baby needs you.
And Malenora fucking hits him with You love me. You love Levan - there simply isn't any way for you not to love our child when you love us so much.
Oh shit I'm crying just typing that.
Anyway
And you know it really hit me in that moment that Lilia's earlier comments about not liking weak things like children - it isn't true, not even then. To love something powerless and weak and fragile means risking your own heart. Just as easily as they could lose their life, you could break your own heart. Lilia has always been afraid.
And when he lost Malenora - someone who he loved, who was the strongest person he knew - died anyway, and left her Love in and Egg, he had to accept that being hurt wasn't something anyone could live without risking.
Moving on, the Knight of Dawn is still a mystery to me, but he doesn't actually seem evil. Apparently he's an orphan who owes a life debt to the previous King, and is in a relationship with the princess Reia. And of course he helped the entourage escape with the Egg - an act I think ultimately saved Silver's life and Lilia's own humanity, among the other obvious things.
Henrik also needs to fucking die what a goddamn bastard KILL HIM MALENORA (I know she doesn't make it but I think she should still get to kill this dude AT LEAST)
Silver losing his shit is kind of understandable after all this, I get it. It hurts me to see him blame himself for literally just being born though he did nothing wrong he was an ACTUAL BABY PLEASE THINK RATIONALLY. Literally if anyone else were out in that situation you know this doofus would be like yeah literally none of this was your fault of course you deserve to live and be happy. But shits not that easy I get it.
Also I actually laughed a little during that scene where Lilia finds baby Silver and he's like STOP CRYING BITCH YOU DONT HAVE THE RIGHT
Like dude I get you're mad at yourself and all but your still yelling at a literal baby please stop 😭
Oh bonus points, I ALSO cried when I found out Lilia's Unique Magic is literally called Farcry Cradle. Like. This man who insisted for literal centuries that he wasn't capable of warmth or love and that he didn't like weak things or children and his UM called FARCRY CRADLE.
全ては過ぎ去る日のようにどこへ向かうもの瞬きの間よ、遠くの揺りかごまで
Also Silver was BLONDE???
Also Malleus being like Aw Shit, What Do I Do With This Thing with baby Silver was great. Love that.
Also totally forgot to just say I'm a bit shook that Silver was actually frozen in time for 100+ years and not a descendent. Was genuinely not expecting that.
Also got me FUCKED UP with the acorn bracelet being a gift from child!Silver like how much more emotional damage am I going to have to endure exactly
NOOO BABY OF COURSE LILIA LOVES YOU
Sidenote child Sebek and Silver are adorable
Cackling at child Sebek having Zero Chill.
He'll yeah, Sebek Unique Magic! "Living Bolt" is very appropriate for him! Pimp slap that boy (Silver) awake!
Silver: Malleus and Lilia probably hate me.
Me, out loud: shut the fuck up. Stop letting your lizard brain control you!
Sebek: *proceeds to immediately deck him*
Good job Sebek!
Sebek is so baby honestly.
Sebek is so right, what a king. I really love how Sebek shows Silver that he's loved. Look at how strong you are - who gave you that strength (love?)
Also I'm always a sucker for that trope when a character who doesn't have any self confidence ends up accusing the people who love them of lying, and really their own self-denegration ends up hurting the very people they care about. How hurtful and insulting it is to have your own moral character and your heartfelt affection for a person be tossed aside in favor of propping up someone's self hatred.
When Silver was like they cant love me and Sebek really said don't you fucking disrespect me or Lilia-Sama like that again. Yeah.
Thankfully Silver regains some clarity and they move along shounen-style, very good.
Oh man the battles for this chapter were actually kind of a pain.
Also tbh I don't know how to feel about them using a recolored version if Silver's 2D rig for the Knight of Dawn. It looks off, personally.
Also in a separate post I made, I said Malleus was like an uncle in their quartet but this whole Book has made it fairly clear that he's more of an older brother. With how long it takes for fae to mature, especially long-lived ones like Dragons, it's clear that Malleus is more like a 16 year old whose parents suddenly busted out a new kid.
I'm tired Goodnight

A bit of lore
So in order to make future posts more understandable I will explain Thea and Alce and their connection (possibly contains spoilers for book 7) TW: spoilers, mentions of abuse/t0rture/death
Alcestris was first. She was born in the Land of Briar 400 years prior to the present day, being a participant of the war between faes and humans. She was born a half-fae with a serpent fae mother and a human father which granted her discrimination very early on in her life, the first one being her father to be prejudiced against her. Her mother loved her regardless and often had fights with her husband for her sake (idk what guts you need to get in a fight with a 6 ft tall snake woman but you must be dumb). The father (additionally Robin) unfortunately committed an unforgivable act on his still toddler daughter which later resulted in disaster. Her mother (additionally Pandora) found out and obviously became furious with her husband who she trusted with her babygirl. It ended in a physical fight but sadly it was Robin who managed to come out alive, knocking Pandora out with a lit oil lamp. It caused a housefire which Robin did not even bother with, fleeing the scene with a near lethal wound from his now late wife. Pandora perished in the fire while Alcestris survived because of a few wooden planks. After the fire died out she had nowhere to go, beginning to wander aimlessly around the Briar Valley forest while it was actively snowing (middle of Winter) and her being only five at the time she didn't last long in such cold as a serpent child. She was found by a couple of Royal Guards and taken to the Briar Valley Castle with no parental figures found where she was greeted by non other than Meleanor Draconia, her husband Levan and General Lilia Vanrouge who at first weren't so fond of the idea to see a half-human kid. But she was still a child, a five-year-old baby and was already an orphan and faes aren't that cruel to leave a youngling to freeze to death. She was taken in by the Royal Family and raised around Princess Meleanor, Levan, Lilia and occasionally Queen Maleficia. Early on they discovered her potential and talent and that was more evident when she started showing interest towards weapons, fighting and the military in general, begging Lilia to train her (it took her a lot of nagging and had to convince Meleanor to help her in it) then later on let her join the Royal Army. At the age of fifteen she was granted her wish and she officially became a member of the Royal Guards, being granted the mask of the snake. She's incredibly talented, slowly climbing the ladder at such a young age and the others are proud of her since she's doing her best despite being half-human, a teen and a girl in the army. She very soon meets Lilia's right hand man, the hot-blooded crocodile fae Baul Zigvolt who she gets into a rivalry with at first because he too is a bit prejudiced about her half-human heritage. It lasts for maybe a year or a half before he learns her story and changes his views on her for good, beginning to grow fond of this teen with an unfortunate twist of fate. He basically unknowingly adopts this girl as a found daughter, treating her as such even when it doesn't show (grandpa is still a tsundere) on him. Unfortunately nothing ever lasts forever and neither did her time as a living, falling captive to the Men of Steel (or Silver Owls if you will) and being subjected to t0rture to squeeze any form of information out of her which she did not give, she kept her mouth shut till the very end because she was loyal to the people who gave her a chance of a life. She held on in the cell of the Fort until she was found by Lilia's team and of course Baul. She finally succumbed to her wounds in his arms, returning to the stars at last.
400 years go by in a snap of two fingers in the eyes of a fae but it is a long time when you're mourning. Baul was given the urn with Alce's ashes after the war has ended and he took it home along with her old weapon and mask, these serving as a memory of the once joyful and energetic girl he grew to care about before losing her in such a brutal way. She guarded three generations of Zigvolts before her soul was reborn in a different world as a girl named Esmeray Felch. She was born a human but having cult leaders as birth-parents could lead to no good, right? Well it led to her becoming Lucifer's daughter and also making herself an orphan out of sheer rage. Authorities took her to the local orphanage and due to her forgetting her name they assigned her as Althea. She was adopted by a formal, wealthy and well-known family, the Cardinals as the youngest daughter of three children. She didn't realize it at the time but she was thrown into a household of Hell and a job she had no choice to refuse, suffering years of abuse, being trained as a hitman and developing many issues because of the way she was treated. She wished to be free from this life and at sixteen she finally saw a way out, planning her escape and executing it successfully. While on the run from her Father's watchful eyes she was met with the Dark Carriage that took her to Night Raven College in a different world. Her wish was granted, she could live a different life but was it all of the reasons why she ended up in Twisted Wonderland?
Present time during school day something unusual happens. A mage had discovered that Alcestris bore a hidden ability and extraordinary strength and wants to revive her because she could be a useful asset to him if she sees him as a 'creator'. So he steals the ashes from Baul and kidnaps Thea after learning her soul is the same that he needs to revive the half-fae girl. Baul and Thea's friends rush after this thief, only to be greeted by a shocking sight. A girl who looks almost exactly like Thea but has fae traits whole also looking human and she's pale as snow, her gaze lifeless but she's still standing and seemingly alive. Baul of course recognizes her and the sight cuts deeper than any weapon he has endured..she's been gone for hundreds of years and now she's here? Standing infront of him, alive..
But can one soul be torn in half only to exist in two different bodies that aren't meant to coexist?

Totally crazy twst theory i have:
It's pretty obvious that Silver is based off of Aurora. So he's possibly a prince. It would make sense because Aurora was raised by the three good fairies and wasn't told she was a princess in order to protect her. And Silver was raised by Lilia not knowing who his biological parents were and not knowing what his life would be like if Lilia didn't adopt him. So onto my crazy theory. Kidnapping children and babies is completely normal in Fae culture. Many people have already said this before, but I think Lilia kidnapped baby Silver. But why?
Briar Valley is kind of weird. If Silver is a prince, what land would he be prince of? Well since he's based off of Aurora he would be prince of Briar Valley. But Malleus is the prince of Briar Valley instead and Briar Valley is ruled by a family of dragon fae, and I assume that most of the population are night/dark fae like Malleus, Lilia, Sebek's mom, Malleus's grandmother, and most likely Sebek's grandfather. But in Sleeping Beauty Maleficent was hated because she's a dark fae and has immeasurable magic power. So why would the country be ruled by someone like that? Because the night faes took over. I think Briar Valley used to be a country ruled by humans and possibly day fairies, but the night faes were tired of being shunned and started a rebellion that led to a civil war. Lilia said,
"It is already a challenge for members of the same species to happily link arms with one another...However it is all the more difficult for different species to see eye-to-eye. Surely you must have learned in history the countless times people have failed to compromise and gone to war with each other. I do not want that part of history to repeat itself."
Another possibility is that Briar Valley was a shared land and was ruled by both the night and humans/day faes, but they got into a fight so the went to war and the night faes took over. But overall, same concept. So after taking over the humans didn't just completely disappear. They were still there for years and had a small kingdom right next to the land of Briar Valley. this would be the time that Malleus is born. Malleus's grandmother was angry about the other kingdom still being near and for some reason she had like some sort of grudge on the royal family. So she wanted to kill them off. I'm not saying she's really twisted, but fae morals are different from human morals. Who knows what's considered acceptable or not. Malleus is fully grown by time the whole scandal starts but he doesn't know what's going to happen. The queen's original plan is to kidnap the prince (Silver) to rile the humans up, and then since the faes overpower them by a lot, they kill all of them. But Lilia being the retired war traumatized general he is didn't want anymore bloodshed. The queen didn't let go of her plan though and asked if instead of killing him, he would adopt the child as his own since he did nothing wrong. Malleus knew nothing about this and didn't assume that they were the ones who started the war. All that he knew was after the war Lilia had "found" the orphan human child and decided to adopt him.
Silver and Malleus finding out all this could be an important factor in chapter 7 too. It could be a small part of why Malleus overblots.
So yea that's my crazy diasomnia theory.

For the three sentence fic, how about an age-swapped Silver and Lilia? Like a human general taking in this fiesty lil baby fairy?
[✐meme] three sentence fic meme
the child was a monster, his soldiers murmur amongst themselves, mistaken in their belief that such cruel words would not make it to the ears of their brave, beloved, and bleeding-heart general. look at how it rages and claws at the air about itself, have you not seen the crimson stained bandages around the commander's arm? and it simply won't stop its infernal, fox-like screeching well into the witching hours— can you not see the exhaustion purpling the general's gaze? how could he possibly think to sleep with it in his tent, is it not still the enemy no matter how small it may seem to be?
they should have left it to perish in the scorched remains of the forest from whence it came, an ill omen that glares balefully at them all with its blazing eyes awash in vicious hate as it bares its tiny fangs as if to taste the scent of fear polluting the frigid night air.
they might still, yet.
silver shrugs off the sour rumors, lets them ripple from his shoulders like the armor he no longer wears to fall and crumble at the foot of his tent as he cradles the small figure once it tires of wailing and pounding its tiny fists against his chest, uncaring of the bruises that will surely make themselves known in the morning from the child's surprising strength. it is not violence for violence's sake, not even simply rage at a perceived enemy— there is a grief here, a maddening, consuming grief that he knows only too well.
it took no magic to curse this little one to a lifetime of loneliness, one that will stretch far beyond the dimmest point of the stars. this never-ending war has made orphans of them both, and his heart aches as he brushes the wild, dark hair out of such a tiny, fair face, creased with misery well before its time.
is this truly the future that he wishes to be remembered for?

Hello again! Can I request dialogue 2 with Malleus and Vil?
Consort Draconia! Consort Schoenheit! Have you heard the news! The imperial heir has taken in an orphan child and claimed them as their own!
Although the child eerily looks similar to them…
Hohoho 🤭. A child? Sure~ Enjoy this event 💕~
Tumblr media
Imperial Noble Consort Malleus Draconia and Noble Consort Vil Schoenheit.
They are talking with each other under the gazebo until they see one of their trusted servants come to them bearing news. The news about the Imperial Heir has adopted a child that looks eerily similar to them. This news shock the two.
"A child, you say?" Vil ask raising one of his eyebrow.
"Why would an Imperial Heir suddenly adopt a child? Tell me besides their resemblance, did they have any other features that make that child special?" Malleus ask but you shake your head.
"I see... Today is where the dinner in the Imperial Heir Palace will be hold. I'm sure that child would be introduced there. As much as I don't like other children getting adopted, I must see what the reason the Imperial Heir wants to adopt that child." Said Vil walking out after giving his courtesy to Malleus.
"... I didn't fond of this idea of getting the adopted child but I have to see it with my own eyes, right? Oh. Before you go, can you please call side consort Lilia along with Concubine Silver and First Class Attendant Sebek to meet me in my room? There is something I want to talk about." Malleus orders before walking in the opposite direction from Vil.
