Howl's Moving Castle x Twisted Wonderland Au

The starry night at NRC was a spectacle of beauty and mystery, with the meteor shower painting the sky in shades of silver and gold. Yuu walked through the dark corridors of the Ramshackle dormitory, lit only by the flickering light of candles and a few points of failed electric light. Grim, the talking cat monster with dancing fire flames, followed beside her silently, his yellow eyes glowing with an unusual intensity and worried for his friend.

Today had been one of those days for the young woman without magic: Waking up late and almost late, she was intercepted by Crowley who had given exhaustive work that he himself had not done, the chemistry test that she and the infamous ADeuce had was a disaster, her crush had given the cold shoulder, Grim got into a totally unnecessary fight with some idiots from the fourth year and as a result they lost their lunch and got some scratches, and the front of his beloved Ramsharckle dorm collapsed, the damp and old wood had given way. The bitter taste in the mouth was not enough to bring a revolt from within Yuu so that she raised a scream of fury and stepped on the floor, her tired body just looked at the mess and walked straight past, the dejected soul took a shower where she hoped for the deep in her fragile heart, the shampoo would clean the dirt she felt and the tears would mix with the hot water.

At least I Tsunotaro will come today.- the only hope she could have that night was to see her dear friend. She put on her less tattered pajamas and sat at the study table waiting for the famous green fireflies to appear.

Unfortunately he didn't show up, the prince didn't answer the call.

The lack of Malleus's gentle presence made schoolwork become heavier and the lump in the throat tightened more and more, the clock was counting down the seconds to….

“Henchman, are you okay? Your eyes are red” with the little self-control he had, Yuu nodded, avoiding his feline friend's gaze and focusing on the blurry letters of school work and just in time the light in the dorm was cut off.

“NYAAH” “It was just what was needed!” Could it be Crowley's irresponsibility? The electricity bill? Was it an attack? A short circuit? Either way, it doesn't matter anymore.

The tired body got up and silently searched for the candles until strange lights passing through the window caught the girl's attention. Ah, the meteor shower. Like a leaf carried by the wind, Yuu's steps, even without hope, led her to the front part of the ramsharckle, the same part of which fell and collapsed. Pushing aside some wood, the girl sat down on the floor and Grim followed her shortly after, not trusting that her friend would be okay alone.

“Henchman, what are we doing here?” "I don't know…"

Will I ever really go home? Will I live forever in this place being this weak? I would do anything to see my family again… I myself will find a way to find my way back, whatever the cost.

Loneliness and anguish weighed on Yuu's heart, like chains that tied her to a distant past, an overwhelming longing for her homeland. She longed for a home, for a place where she could be truly happy. Home….my home….my family….The starry night shone with a unique and mysterious beauty, the shooting stars cutting across the sky like tears of light. Each meteorite that fell seemed to echo the loneliness and anguish that Yuu felt inside her.

As she watched the shooting stars cut across the sky like sharp blades, one of them stood out, shining with a disturbing intensity that seemed to whisper Yuu's name as the golden ball of fire quickly fell towards the ground. Without knowing why the girl just followed her heart and with an irresistible impulse, Yuu ran towards the shooting star, her mind filled with a mixture of despair and hope that she didn't know where it came from.

The powerful ball of fire broke apart and reflected various colors and when the star finally fell into her hands. As she held the star in her trembling hands, Yuu felt a wave of magical power envelop her, making her tremble with emotion and fear. A magical energy enveloped her, and in an instant, the star fell apart, disappearing into her body. A warm feeling filled Yuu, and she felt her heart beat faster than ever. The star, now resident in her being, revealed its mysterious and enigmatic personality, whispering ancient secrets and dark promises in her ears and finally a deal was made between the magicless human and the fallen star.

As Yuu absorbed the star's powers, the old Ramshackle dormitory began to shake and transform in sinister and fascinating ways before his eyes. Walls contorted, furniture came to life, and the abandoned place metamorphosed into a lively castle, with sparkling towers and enchanted gardens. The magic of the falling star had awakened the true essence of the place, revealing its hidden beauty.

The animated castle, now filled with the dark aura of the shooting star, rose majestically from the ground, its dark towers rising like sharp claws against the starry sky. The enchanted garden has turned into a maze of thorns and shadows, where unknown creatures lurk in the shadows, watching with glowing, hungry eyes.

“H-henchman! What is happening??"

With an enigmatic smile on her lips, Yuu looked at Grim, whose gaze reflected a mixture of fear and confusion. "Let's go home," she whispered, her voice echoing like a whisper of unknown magic. The cat nodded silently and ran to the girl's shoulders, saving his questions for later, because maybe later Yuu wouldn't be looking like a crazy woman with a flying Ramsharckle.

The old Ramsharckle dorm floated to where the two were and the door opened waiting for the two to climb up to finally grant the previously magicless girl's heart's desire.

“I'll come back to say goodbye later”

Who knows if she would come back who knows if not

She looked back one last time, remembering her adventures with the troublemaking cat and all the friends she made there. And with a firm step the girl went up in her castle and felt more ready than ever to embark on this adventure.

As the castle floated toward the distant horizon, the lights of shooting stars and meteorites hovered above them, shrouding them in a veil of mystery and intrigue. Yuu felt a shiver run down his spine, but also a sense of determination and courage that had long been forgotten.

And so, enveloped by the darkness of the starry night and the sinister magic of the falling star, Yuu and Grim set out on a journey into the unknown, where ancient secrets and intertwined destinies awaited them in the shadows of their path. Amidst the darkness and starlight, Yuu and Grim's journey was just beginning, with the power of the shooting star guiding their steps towards their final destination.

So…about the Arachnohumanoid Polymultiverse- This is a stupid name. I don’t know why O’Hara chose this over the Spiderverse. That name makes more sense and easier for people who can’t decipher scientific names right away…

Anyway…

There are many variants and other dimensions who have their own spider like protectors.

There’s one particular Spider who has an interesting upbringing with their situation.

“I created an algorithm to alert me for crimes occurring and use my newfound powers by casting web-like portals to reach to that specific location.”

“Following my backstory: I was raised by my aunt and uncle, Aunt Mei and Uncle Benji. However, Uncle Benji passed away due to saving someone from an Overblot attack. Oh, Woe is Me...

A/N: Once again splitting up the story bc of how things go...It is certainly Going Down. I swear I don't have a bias for Pomefiore, I just had to fit so much significant plot points in here

Yan! Twst Isekai AU CW/TW: Spoilers for Chapter 5, suicidal thoughts and ideation + attempt, poisoning, reader is Not Having a Good Time

When you finally are somewhat well enough to return to classes, there’s a shift in the air. You don’t even need to hear the murmurs to know that the cultural fair has started, and subsequently, the VDC auditions. 

Ace and Grim are already raring to go, but you and Deuce hang back, hesitant, but for different reasons. It was probably because of what happened over winter break, but you’re now reconsidering whether you should continue following the story. But if you don’t, will the game have a bad ending? 

Will you not be able to return home?

Epel. Pretty and soft-spoken Epel. You can only extend your pity in silence as the Heartslabyul duo introduce him to you. There’s something off though, because you swear this is your first meeting with the mysterious first year, but he gazes at you as if he’s known you for years.

It’s a great contrast with Vil, whose careless survey turns sharp once they land on you. You can only step back as Grim, Ace and Deuce start the fight you know they will lose. He scoffs and leaves his scathing words for the rest of you, but what you’re not prepared for is the very last venomous stab he has for you.

“To even be hanging out with such a dirty, magicless nobody…Epel, you should know better.”

The insult burns into your skin and it takes everything within you to not tear up. Although you came from another world, no one really said anything bad about you for being magicless—after all, there were plenty of people in Twisted Wonderland who also were just like you. But to be singled out and judged for just that…it stings, especially coming from someone like Vil. For once you feel very self conscious about your existence within Twisted Wonderland.

Ace and Deuce are enraged to the max; both at Vil’s words toward them, but most of all, how dare he speak to you like that? A stare burns into the back of your head(right, in this scene you were not alone). Your pained grimace only spurs them on to practice more rigorously for the contest. 

You expected the prickle of unease when Rook makes his appearance behind Leona. Afterall in the game, it’s implied that his senses were beyond a normal human's. What you don't expect is that his eyes are trained on you, and you alone, throughout his whole exchange with the others. No amount of hiding behind Leona stops his piercing gaze. If anything, you would even say his face turned more amused.

Soon enough, the audition day arrives and you only can trail in reluctantly after the excited trio in front of you. Did you really need to be present? Grim was the one doing all the dancing and you don't think you could stomach meeting Vil's judgmental gaze picking you apart again. But it's too late to ditch once the ballroom doors slam open, and the Pomefiore trio struts in with all their sparkling glory.

The audition goes as expected. They dance, Vil sends them out. You don’t even blink when the arrow that carries the acceptance message barely misses the tip of your nose. And then, of course, the pivotal scene of Crowley asking you to give up Ramshackle to be the training grounds for VDC.

The player had no options. In the grand machination of things, Yuu's choices had no sway in the plot, just as how the developers wanted it. You’ve thought about keeping your head down. Don’t deviate, just let the story roll past you. 

But you can change that.

No more. For once, you’re going to make a choice for yourself in this godforsaken game. So when you state with a hard grimace that you did not want them at your dorm, there’s only a round of surprised looks and exclamations. Grim side eyes you silently in concern. Vil only raises a skeptical eyebrow. You stand firm. Even if Crowley was offering to improve the Ramshackle dorm, you know what awaits if you agree.

You pray to the Seven that’s the end of it. Then your phone rings and when you pick up, you get a near heart attack when it’s Neige on the other line, asking if he could come over for a visit. By the time you stutter something out, it’s too late, as the bright prince chirps out a ‘thanks! see you soon!’ followed by the beep of the tone. 

You can only let out a sigh as you stare at your blank phone screen. Thank goodness the training camp wasn’t at Ramshackle. You can only imagine what Vil’s face would look like if he saw his rival on campus. All this over Neige Leblanche. 

But it’s not really him, you think, as you scroll aimlessly through Magicam. It’s about what he threatens for Vil. Is he coming over because you made a choice that changed the course of the story?

Grim scolds you for being so nice for no reason when you end up plodding to let in Neige. He only beams at you cheerily, presses a soft kiss to your knuckles, and floats past your speechless form. You follow after in a daze, going through the motions as you offer him tea and whatever measly snacks you can graze up from your dusty pantry.

It’s embarrassing to sit at your coffee table that still wobbles with its broken leg with someone who is practically the next hot celebrity to Vil. Neige doesn’t seem to mind, only happily asking how you’re doing and what you’ve been up to as he nibbles on half stale crackers and cookies. 

“Neige, aren’t you busy? I heard that you’re going to be participating in VDC…” His eyes twinkle at your cautious question you put forward. 

“Mmm, yes, but I wanted to see you before I really get busy rehearsing!” His smile is genuine and makes your heart flutter.

The knock on your door turns both of your heads and when you excuse yourself to get it, a foreboding feeling washes over you as you reach for the doorknob.

“Ah, good, you’re here.”

Cold sweat runs down your back and neck as you’re face to face with Vil’s indifferent face. The absolute worst timing ever. As you try to stealthily close the door behind you, he starts to lean in with furrowed eyebrows.

“Why do you look nervous, spudling?” 

You’re so terrified that you’re utterly mute and trembling. You’ve remembered when Vil gets angry in the game. You do not want to be the target of his poisonous wrath.

“[First], what’s the matter?” Vil’s eyes immediately narrow at the light voice behind you.

Neige peers over your shoulder curiously, and you think of how this game must loath you at this moment. 

"Oh! Vi!" Neige's eyes brighten at seeing his former classmate. On the other hand, a shadow falls over Vil's face.

“So, this is why you refused to have Ramshackle be the training camp so adamantly.” Vil’s frosty voice sends even more tremors down your spine. Before you can open your mouth to retort, he grabs your wrist harshly, tugging you along with no mercy, disregarding Neige's calls to you both.

“Clearly, if you have time to fraternize with the enemy,” Vil’s nose scrunches in distaste as he drags your uncooperative body with your crying protests, “you can scrounge up some time to help us out.”

This must be what they call hell. In the end, it didn’t even matter that you refused to be involved in the VDC preparations. The others are surprised as Vil drags you crying into Pomefiore's ballroom, throwing you onto the floor, before ordering you to 'stop that humiliating display and start the music'. And yet, despite the fact you're clearly here against your will, the rest of them don't do anything, content and even more motivated that you're there to watch them.

Vil's target that originally was on Epel swivels onto you. Your phone confiscated, you and Grim are forced to stay at Pomefiore's dorms with the others, under Vil's (and Rook's, albeit he was more discreet about it) sharp eyes. Even though you're not even a performer, he nitpicks your outfit, your posture, your diet, all with a condescending look upon his face that leaves you feeling like dirt at the end of the day. And Epel, sweet and nice Epel, the one you hoped would use his fiery determination to help you out of the situation…doesn't. You thought that Epel would surely share some sympathy, or Ace and Deuce, maybe even Kalim…but no, they merely chide you for causing trouble and saying that they need you, their manager, to help cheer them on. Weren't they your friends?

Is the game forcing you back on its original path? When you and Grim try to escape the dorms, Rook just somehow manages to catch you both and drag you back to a displeased Vil, who then makes you sleep paralyzed next to him while forcing Grim out to sleep on the cold floor. You're not even free during the day, as you're forcefully escorted straight to Vil by Rook, who somehow manages to appear at the end of your classes. 

It’s finally one painful night left alone with Grim in a guest room that a thought creeps into your mind.

Escape doesn't have to be achieved fulfilling a game's story. Doesn't a game also end when the player loses?

It's a terrible thought, you know. Even you are terrified of it. You've already experienced what it's like to be on the brink of death. Smashed by thorns. Crumbled into sand. Drowned under the sea. Choked out of air. What you're planning honestly might be the most merciful way to go.

You're just…so tired. This world that started out fun and exciting has slowly descended to madness. With each chapter, each overblot, you can feel your tether home disintegrating, bit by bit. Memories of home dissipating like ink in water, gone even as you try so hard to catch the trails they leave. And now, more than ever, you're fearful of the time when you will forget why you were fighting so hard to leave Twisted Wonderland. Of who you are.

It's been so long that you felt the night breeze. It's only a matter of time, though, before Rook catches you and places you back within Vil's gilded cage.

"You're inviting me?" You nod as Hornton thoughtfully reads the embossed VDC ticket. He smiles at you, and guilt runs through you, as you know you're using him as a means to end.

Please be there to help them. You pray as he leaves with a spontaneous burst of emerald lights and smoke. Although Vil was your torturer, even you have qualms about leaving him to die in his overblot.

The day of the VDC has you sick and exhausted with no sleep. Thankfully the others don't notice, except for a certain hunter, who only coos at you quietly and slips you a coffee and a pat on the head. But that all changes as Neige makes his appearance with other RSA students and leaps towards you with shining eyes, bypassing Vil completely and hugging you. The warmth in his hug is genuine, but so is the darkness that falls over Vil's eyes on the two of you. Vil's lips curl even more into a distasteful scowl when Neige gives you a parting peck on the cheek. Your coffee slips out of your hands and splashes all over your shoes, but that doesn't matter because Neige Leblanche kissed you, oh my Seven–

"Look at you, you filthy spudling. What are you just standing there gawking for? Close your mouth, you look unsightly." The bitter scolding snaps you back to the present as you register Vil moving you forcefully backstage. Although you're sure he was just trying to save his own reputation and get you out of the way, he doesn't leave. In fact, he takes your shoes and orders Epel to get some new ones. This time, Epel has no problem obeying his housewarden. 

The two of them strangely fret over you, before Vil orders you to stay backstage to not embarrass yourself further, as he put it. Suits you just fine. You know exactly what happens next.

It doesn't make it any less horrific to think about as you watch Vil smirk down at Neige.

Just as Vil tempts the idol with the apple juice, you usurp Rook's role of the interloper.

"Vil, you're needed backstage." His face flickers ever so slightly but your face doesn't change. The drink is already in Neige's hands. You wait as he clicks his tongue and leaves to assure his reputation. 

It doesn't take much to get the drink into your hands. Neige is too kind. He hands over the drink as soon as you mention you're a little thirsty yourself. The juice inside looks normal, but you know full well what Vil's capability is. You look up into Neige's eyes and sigh.

"Thank you." Pathetic last words. Maybe you should've said something else. But it doesn't matter anymore. Nothing does, really.

That's not true. There's Grim, who's been by your side through thick and thin. And Hornton, your strange friend–what would he say when he saw your collapsed body?

You throw your head back and chug.

It hurts. Seven above, it hurts so much! Your guts feel like it's melting and freezing all at once. The blood in your veins slows to lead and your heart is stabbed with multiple painful needle pinpricks. Your throat swells, and blood dribbles slowly out of your lips. The bottle slips out of your hands and shatters glass fragments everywhere. Neige's panicked and frantic scream echoes and you swear the ground underneath you rumbles. 

How lovely, you think, as you stare into Neige's tearful eyes, that such a poison exists…

You close your eyes to Twisted Wonderland to what you hoped to be the last time.

I’m thinking this is related to this art piece by @spadesncrows that I reblogged.  Go check out that very cute art of Heartslabyul as animals if you haven’t already!

As you lay on your bed flipping through your game apps, a sudden burst of lightning has you isekai’d into a world that is a combination of the two games you were last playing; a zoo sim and Twisted Wonderland.  Now you are the beloved zookeeper of Ramshackle pavilion at Night Raven Zoo.  Some of the adorable animals you are charged with caring for seem oddly familiar to you and, by the way they crave your attention, you’d guess that you are somehow familiar to them as well.

Red Panda Cater

Cater knows how to play up his cuteness for a crowd.  He’ll spend hours of the day just gazing into the wading pool of his enclosure but, as soon as some guests arrive, he is up and rolling about the place.  Did you see how the adorable panda rolled right off that log and into the water?  How cute.  You smile at the satisfied guests and then it seems Panda Cater catches your eye and gives you a small wink.  See how he helps out?

Cater is a picky eater.  Most of the other animals in the zoo appreciate it when you bring them sweet fruity treats.  Panda Cater will take the fruit from you when you hold it out, but you notice he always will carry it off then.  Later, you’ll find it buried in his enclosure.  Please offer him bamboo instead.  He is running out of places to hide those sweets.

Cater is obsessed with your phone.  You try to avoid letting him get his paws on it but there have been a number of times you’ve turned around when cleaning his enclosure to notice him looking at your social media.  How did Panda Cater manage to turn on the phone and open the app?  It’s a mystery!  The cute selfies he accidentally(?) takes also go viral on a regular basis.  You think he’d be a natural influencer, you know, if he wasn’t a Panda.

You wipe your brow after finished the final sweep of the floor.  There!  Your task is done.  You turn to your curious companion and remark, “That’s it for another day.  I couldn’t have done it without your expert supervision.”  Panda Cater appears to nod sagely as though agreeing with the sentiment.  He never fails to make you chuckle with his antics.  “I think this causes for a celebratory photo, don’t you?” you ask him cheekily.  Cater’s ears twitch and turn, alert to the words you are saying. 

You pat your thighs in a gesture of summoning to your adorable partner.  Panda Cater is familiar with this gesture by now and quickly ambles over and stands on his hind paws, reaching up with the front ones as though begging to be picked up.  You smilingly oblige, carefully lifting him into your arms.  Then you shift him to one arm and ready your phone.  Cater looks at it knowingly and lets out a trill.  “Just wait, I’m putting on your favorite filter,” you tell him.  Then you are ready.  “Ok, smile!” you command in an upbeat tone.  You and the panda make a cute pose and you click the photo button.  “There!” you say cheerfully.  Cater appears to disagree, giving you a trill.  “What, another?” you ask him.  He doesn’t answer but looks into the camera with focus.  “Alright, one more,” you tell him obligingly.  Then you strike another pose and take the photo.  Another trill emerges from Panda Cater.  You look at him wearily, but he is already preparing another pose.  This might be a long night.

So the context for this one was from a twst AU I made! And also just being chaotic. It’s basically an AU where Crowley mysteriously overblots, Malleus fights him but realizes it’s a stalemate and uses a barrier to surround the school to wait for outside forces to help. The catch is, no one comes to help the NRC due to the overblotting turning into a worldwide phenomenon, so everyone is stuck in the barrier including some RSA students who had been visiting at the time. The dorms turn into warring factions, students without a faction/ kicked out of their faction become a “ramshackle”, and it kinda just becomes this interesting little ecosystem, Neige becomes depressed that he doesn’t know what happened to his friends and copes via tending to 7 little chickens he named after them all. Lucien, one of my friend’s OCs, is the one being burned below bc he keeps accidentally loosing the chickens, and is kinda like the clueless little scamp of the Rosehearts faction. Idk if anyone is interested in the AU, or if I’m just ranting into the void with this one, but I feel like it’s been a lot of fun to make.

The (Main) Characters

MC/Reader: The Scavenger who sells useable parts of robotd and androids for living, but although before they become a scavenger they are a student at the prestigious NRC Tech. Academy, but for some reason they had to drop out (or was forced by the headmaster to drop out) and end up where they are now. (the reason and their backstory is in your hands)

Grim: The Assistant/Companion Catbot. he was found by Sam the Trader and was sold to the scavenger to fix up, although to him the Scavenger is a simpleton henchman that he orders, he cares deeply for them and swore to stay by their side forever (the owner doesn't choose the cat, the cat chooses it's owner. plus who wouldn't you were the one has his weekly supplies of oil and tuna batteries)

Sam: The Trader that the scavenger sells parts to, he gives fair price to whatever the Scavenger had for him and good trinkets to give them, it is still a mystery how he got acquainted with the headmaster of NRC as why he's very familiar with him, but how had he known who the Scavenger is?, after all why would he, a businessman approach a random scavenger who only sells junk unless.... that he knew they studied in the academy of his acquaintance and interested in their abilities

World Building

The world of twisted wonderland had fell into the hands of machines. gadgets, androids, bots, artificial intelligence. you name it

the world is now filled with futuristic machinery that one could clap their hands and a android would do it for them

but as there are many gadgets and robots that populates the city like humans there are tons of dumpsites too. thats where you, my Scavenger makes a living. the Ramshackle Landfill is where most of the city's broken or discard androids and bots are thrown away and their body parts where you mostly get your money from, most of the you have good finds, some has no hope to make you a selling at all which marks them as bad finds, and last... are finds of androids that are still working yet thrown away for some reason (I'll get to them in the next post)

the Scavenger or you lives in a abandoned modernized smart home, not that far from the city of Sages but not too close either. nearby your was a dumpster of robotic parts where you scavenge and farage everyday, although it wasn't as the same anymore when you found yourself using your knowledge from studying in the academy to fix discarded androids. (only for them to be obsessed with you every time of the day, honestly...)

The NRC Tech. Academy is somewhere in the center of the city, it truly is prestige only to accept students that has skills and/or talents to create robotics for the economy and living. most android company CEO'S/Owners studied there, graduated and created bots for the society to use. but the headmaster of that academy tends to have alot of secrets maybe one of it was the reason why you dropped out.

(okay this is pretty much is it bout the basics so ill get to the characters later lol.

actually i do have a plan for the Reader/Scavenger's backstory about them being Crowley's child and being the top mechanic/technician in the academy but having a disagreement together with Crowley was the reason they dropped out but since Crowley is Crowley

he bought his child a home near a dumpsite out the goodness of his heart and keeps an eye on them by using Sam as a watcher

THE SIGN EPISODE 4 – MUCHNESS IN THE MIX (BUT THE NAGA AND GARUDA STILL PEEK THROUGH THE MUDDLE)

This episode of The Sign somehow managed to be a LOT and yet not quite enough (for me) at the same time.

After the languid pacing of Ep.3, set in far-off, semi-rural Nong Khai and punctuated only sporadically with moments of drama and foreboding, Ep.4 took a jarring tonal leap back into the darker, sleeker world of modern Bangkok as the boys got stuck into their day jobs as newbie investigators for a mysterious crime involving rape, abduction, torture, murder and media manipulation. 👀

Maybe it's just me, but the show is starting to show signs of having bitten off more than it can chew – with aspirations to being a fantasy, a procedural crime drama, a supernatural thriller, a comedy and a love story. Is it some of the above? All of it? At the same time? It's early days, but there are hints it may be going down the same meandering path trod by KinnPorsche, flailing in several directions on a whim. (At least KinnPorsche flailed with style, but I'm not sure The Sign has quite the luxury of a Romsaithong budget to ladle on the bucketloads of sugary gloss needed to make a ramshackle raft of uncohesive elements at least superficially appealing to the palate, if not exactly good for your soul.)

Don't get me wrong though. I think there is a place for the mixing and even blending of genres in media, and there is a long history of this in the Asian cinematic universe (what's coming to mind are Bollywood/Kollywood films in which a mafia tale can also be a love story and musical for example – echoes of KinnPorsche here, though most of KP's musical bits were tacked on in the after-concerts – and also Hong Kong movies of decades past where a martial arts movie could also be a slapstick comedy and nobody would bat an eyelid).

A culinary metaphor might be the easiest (laziest) way of making my point: the mile-long ingredient list and complex spicing of a curry may seem like you're inviting nothing but clashing and competition in the claypot, but careful dosing can stew them up into a sumptuous, unified result. And the myriad of ingredients in East and Southeast Asian noodle soups and flash stir-fries not only foreground contrasting textures and flavors in a single dish but actually celebrate them. Both approaches assert that artful assemblage and the right dosage can bring together disparate components (that might seem uneasy companions in their raw and uncombined state) to finish up with a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts.

I'm no media expert (necessary caveat inserted here) but I think The Sign needs quite a lot more finessing with all that it's taken on, and getting the proportions, mixing and balance correct will be the tricky bit given the wildly contrasting ingredients they've already added to the pot. I'm not convinced KinnPorsche got it right and I have concerns The Sign may slide down that slope too (if Ep.4 is anything to go by).

Even the acting is starting to betray the fact that Kruu A's assured directorial hand, so evident in the first three episodes, is possibly losing its grip on all the disparate threads and themes. (It's not too late for him to pull it back though, so I think the next two episodes or so will be critical to see if The Sign can live up to the promise of its first three episodes.)

I think this loss of control is especially noticeable in Billy's acting for Ep.4 – his thespian chops had been confident and dependable enough in Episodes 1 to 3 (even during the high tension fight scenes and especially during the quieter emotional interludes with Babe). But in Ep.4 he crossed the line repeatedly and was visibly overacting in almost every take. I'm guessing they needed to amp up the energy level of his portrayal since Phaya is supposed to be a hot-headed garuda after all. But I think the actorly resources currently at Billy's disposal don't quite allow him to pull off the bigger emotions and scenes with authenticity, not just yet anyway. (Babe showed characteristic restraint throughout though, and I thought he consistently did a good job.)

Unfortunately Billy wasn't the only one falling short in the acting department; the extras and bit players were also allowed to ham it up no end (yes, I'm sorry for the kid who was sexually assaulted, but the hysteria on display was jarringly and completely inauthentic, and drew more mockery to the predicament rather than sympathy, which is such a shame). 🤷‍♂️

Special mention also for the OTT expressions of the investigative group during each team meeting – they all appeared to be reacting exactly in unison to every turn of events, whether it was exaggerated focus on new findings, flinching in collective disappointment whenever their leads were thwarted, or looking around suspiciously and suddenly when it was suggested the murderer might be one in their midst. It looked far too much like a group of actors responding to instructions from outside in, rather than a team of individuals reacting from inside out, each with their own agency but choosing to align themselves as one. And this should have been weeded out by the director, since we know this team was largely able to deliver on the acting front in the first three episodes.

I stand with Inspector Akk whose confused expression in most of the group scenes seemed to be saying "What the hell is going on here?" 🤣

(above) "Inspector" Akk Akarat Nimitchai: "What is going on? Why am I here? Why did I listen to my agent? I am an Actor!"

Although this is probably just The Sign telling us that Akk knows more than he's letting on, and the newbies he's assigned are doing a far better job than he thought they would (and which is maybe not the desired outcome?). 🤔

Anyway the writers dialled back somewhat on the naga/garuda mythology in Episode 4 to shine more light on the NCIS-style criminal investigation, and this isn't doing The Sign any favors because the mythological themes roiling beneath the surface were what set this series apart in the first place and made it such a fascinating watch.

We still got to see some of it though. Whenever the naga and garuda's inner energies are especially stoked, the lighting often plays along (e.g., the brightly sparkling lights that accompany garuda Phaya charging up his batteries at Ep.1 [4/4] 14.20 and Ep.3 [2/4] 19.07, PhayaTharn's toilet encounter at Ep.2 [4/4] 9.12, the Mekong rescue at Ep.3 [2/4] 19.18, and Tharn's erotic dream of him and Phaya having shower sex at Ep.4 [2/4] 5.52). When it's fiery garuda Phaya and watery naga Tharn experiencing this together, the lighting dances between warm tones (suggesting the flames of the garuda) and cooler blues (suggesting the watery world of the naga).

I think that's why they made such a big deal with the blue and red lighting in this scene:

Phaya and Tharn have just survived an encounter with an armed and possibly insane killer. The flashing lights (blue for the marine naga, red for the fiery garuda) quite literally signal them recouping their respective beast energies after their near-death experience. (I also like that in the screenshot above, the light on Phaya is blue while the light on Tharn is red – each seems to be reflecting what the other is giving off. 👍)

There are also a few other examples of the naga and garuda dynamics in Episode 4, if we look a bit more closely.

Naga Tharn really had to fight to overcome his aversion to the flames in the abandoned mental facility (the Molotov cocktail is also I think a callback to the naga fireballs of the previous episode); garuda Phaya on the other hand breached the fire without a second thought.

But in hand-to-hand combat with the masked Molotov man (an agent of the malevolent naga out to get him and Tharn I suppose) Phaya is swiftly overcome – take a look at where they're fighting though (at Ep.4 [3‌/4] 12.25); it's a forest clearing right at the water's edge (with water being the nagas' stronghold, while it seems to weaken garuda Phaya's abilities).

When Phaya insists he and Tharn have dinner, it's at a hot-pot place (a culinary experience of both fire and boiling water at the table, another metaphor for the coming together of the naga and garuda). And the red and blue lighting of the restaurant also pays homage to the mythological pairing:

When Tharn is cooking breakfast for him and Phaya, it seems the sizzling on the stove is all it takes to remind him of his sex dream with hot-as-fire Phaya (although that is likely an induction hob though, not an open flame 🤣):

And when offered the breakfast, Phaya lets us know in no uncertain terms he prefers the more liquid option (just as his garuda self has chosen a waterworld naga):

OK so on to the most direct reference yet to the fantasy world-building in Episode 4 of The Sign – the visitation from the mysterious old woman spouting warnings and exhortations to Tharn and Phaya:

Her serpent bracelet and subsequent physical transformation show that she is most likely a nagini from Tharn's past life, come to warn the pair that the vengeful naga whom Tharn betrayed previously (see Heng Asavarid's interview spoiler here) is nearby and out to get them (remembering also that at least some of the nagas have the power to shapeshift).

My guess is her golden eyes and general coloration at Ep.4 [1‌/4] 15.40 are signaling that she's Wanwisa, Tharn's sister in his previous life as a naga:

Going off-tangent just a little, the mysterious gran/golden dragon lady is another example of a wise and mysterious elder popping into a Thai drama to dispense life-saving wisdom.

Not sure if it's enough to be a trope, but The Sign's psychic gran calls to mind a couple of other almost deus-ex-machina plot-helpers:

the loong with the time-portal crystal ball in Be My Favorite; and

the wise monk at the end of Nang Nak (the Sine Inthira version).

There are surely others (but I just can't recall them at the moment). I also can't help but think Uncle Tong in Bad Buddy fits this mold as well, because his wise, unworldly advice helped PatPran re-think and re-chart their lives (except that Director Aof had the good sense not to spring this sage and magical loong on us at the very last minute, and introduced him to us earlier in BBS Ep.6).

Anyway, on to Ep.5 of The Sign. I can't wait to see what's in store, and hope they can get the series back on track! 💖

Background:

Kei was a young child actor at seven who starred in mystery/detective shows. She was mostly casted in side character roles until she finally became a main role in a show called “Give It Your All Tamiko-San!” A mystery show with a bit of magical girl elements. She also sang and wrote lyrics for the show's opening “The Lead to Your Heart” which gained a lot of love and popularity. According to old fans of the show, it was extremely catchy and even played on several radio news sessions just because it was that well liked. 

Kei was taken aback by this praise for her song. By then, he was just a well known enough actor but now to the world he’s a natural born singer. He started to wonder if this was truly a path he should go down on. And after the final season of “Give It Your All Tamiko-San!” he finally had an answer. 

Not only did she pursue becoming an idol but she also trained under NRC for two years. Eventually becoming a soloist at the age of 16 with her first solo mini album “Open Shut Case”. The whole concept of the albums’ meaning is that no matter what your love for her is very clear. An open and shut case if you will- ok imma shut up now

What I’m made of... (Metal Sonic!Yuu )

Summary: What if Yuu was a clone of Metal Sonic? Chaos that involves a group of first years, a cat (kinda), and a somewhat overpowered robot.

Warning: Curse words, long post

(A/N: I ran a poll to see if you wanted a clone version or the actual version of Metal Sonic and the clone got picked. Either way, I’m going to be having fun writing this one. Now, onto the AU!)

So as for what kind of clone they are, Metal!Yuu is a clone made by G.U.N. to try and combat Metal Sonic and any future Eggman threats (Alt. option could be modified Phantom Ruby clone, but this makes more sense)

Either way, they have the strength and most of the powers of Metal Sonic along with a copy of his memories, but their unfinished and have none of the original Metal’s personality, if any at all

Metal!Yuu in other words is “an unfinished project”

The reason why they are unfinished (and thus not having all of Metal Sonic’s powers) is because they were made half-way through the war during Sonic Forces

They were sent for early field testing, but didn’t come back, deeming them a failure

But really they got isekaied to Twisted Wonderland by being hit by a carriage

When they got there, they immediately reawakened when Grim was burning the coffin to get out

Metal!Yuu broke down the door with ease and didn’t give Grim the time of day, their directive more set on finding out where they were

Grim only managed to catch up to them because they tripped on their robes (their only 3′3″ for pete’s sake)

Either way they were found by Crowley and were forced to go to the Mirror Chamber

Some of the students were a little confused, there was one more student and it seemed they were shorter than Heartslabyul’s housewarden

But then...

“Somebody, stop that raccoon!” That was all they needed to hear. The “lost student” then rushed out of the room, a cobalt blur picking up speed, as they dashed out of the chamber doors. Azul and Riddle being affected the most of the back lash of wind that followed after the “student” rushed past them.

“What in the world!” Azul exclaimed as the wind finally passed.

Crowley was perplexed by what he just saw, but was even more so when they saw the “student’s” ceremonial robes thrown to the floor. While most did take up a fuss about the action, their complaints about the mysterious first-year was quickly shut as they returned to the Mirror Chamber. In the same cobalt blur in wind that passed them, they heard the yelling of Grim as he was forced onto the floor and all of the students and staff got a good look at this new “student”.

When they were expecting a small human, it was instead a strange blue metalic looking robot. While small that didn’t make it look anymore dangerous as they held the small creature to the ground.

Everyone had to be calmed down after the incident in the mirror chamber

Crowley also had to force Metal!Yuu and Idia into his office to figure out their origins, since you know, Metal!Yuu can’t really talk

Either way, Metal!Yuu ends up staying at Ramshackle in which they get along with the ghost, after they were convinced by said ghost to not blow up a new hole in the dorm

They also made Ace scared when they took the fireball that was flung at the Queen of Hearts statue like a champ, not even a burn mark was on their exterior

They’re just very good at being intimidating despite their small size

But when people started learning more about them, Metal!Yuu was actually quite harmless. Best described as both a dedicated machine that’ll follow any task and a curious soul who wants to learn more about the world around them (A child, they have the mentality of a child)

Metal!Yuu also “talks” via pencil and notebook, gestures (They're quite expressive), and sign language, until they get a voice box that is

Ace: Hey, what do we even call you anyway. I mean Metal’s cool and all, but I bet it’s tiring getting called someone-else’s nickname.

Metal!Yuu: *Makes a ‘kind of’ gesture with their hand*

Deuce: Well, have any ideas.

Metal!Yuu: ...

Metal!Yuu: *Writes down their deiced name in their notebook before showing it to the Braincell Duo and Grim*

Grim: Y-U-U. Yuu? Really, couldn’t have come up with something better.

Ace: Yeah, gonna have to agree with Grim here. Little boring don’t you think.

Metal!Yuu: *frustrated noise*

Deuce: Well if you like it. *sticks out hand to shake* It’s nice to properly meet you, Yuu?

Metal!Yuu: *Happy noise as they shake Deuce’s hand*

Bonus before closing off, they become the most close to Ortho as both try to find themselves and experience life

Okay having two drama queens in the Ramshackle dorm is hilarious especially when Ace, Deuce, and Grimm were punish for eating sweets and now having Crewel now.

Yuu doesn't really have much opinion on the matter. Living with Vil is a lot like living with Crewel, and having both in the house is like when Lilith is around.

Ace and Deuce and rest them however are not. Vil keeps everyone in line for VDC, Crewel keeps them in line for everything else. Ace thought he was going to be free of Riddle for month only to walk right into the House of Crewel. That man is going to whip them all into shape.

I'm also picturing Crewel seeing to Yuu talking to Malleus at night. Like he either got up for water or heard Yuu sneaking out their room, only to look out the window and see them talking to Malleus Draconia of all people and handing them the envelope of VDC tickets.

I like the whole Malleus being a mystery man thing. Even though Yuu in this au has lived in Twisted Wonderland for roughly eleven years, they never really kept up with who is who. They know the name of Malleus Draconia and his reputation. But they really bothered to look at pictures or anything, so they don't know what Malleus looks like, so they don't know this guy in their yard is the Prince of Briar Valley. It's all sheer coincidence. They still become friends and everything, and Crewel is left to wonder how he raised someone so oblivious.

Prompt: The reader is surveying the garden for a few flowers when her eyes settle on roses.

Grim was less than happy about your plan to renovate the Ramshackle Dorm on the weekend. He was planning on taking a lovely cat nap in the sun but instead-much to his dissatisfaction-he was currently awake and breathing in dust.

You were on your hands and knees scrubbing the hardwood floor with a bristled brush. You had swept all the floor, thrown out broken or far too worn items, mopped the floors, dusted, and lit some incense to help with the smell.

This place was almost unlivable.

"Why not just have one of your friends use their magic?" Grim mumbled as you tasked him with cleaning the chandelier.

"They all are probably very busy-and besides we got nothing better to do! Not like I can go onto social media or play video games." You mumbled the last part under your breath.

Eventually, the mysterious stains on the wood were cleaned and you sighed with relief. As you scanned the area your bedroom was much cleaner and the Headmaster was kind enough to buy you a new bed set and a few necessities.

"Ya know, this place could use something..." You thought out loud.

"Like what?" Grim asked swatting at the dust particles flying into his fur.

"Oh! Some flowers!" You spoke out loud.

"Flowers?" Grim winced.

"Plants really bring a lovely atmosphere and aroma. Let's go to the garden and pick a few!"

"Hmmm...do I have to?" The flaming cat thing grumbled.

"No Grim, you can take a break. I'll be right back."

You grabbed a woven basket on your way out and headed into the gardens...

"What flowers should I bring back home?" You mumbled to yourself.

Lilies? Not quite fitting.

Bleeding hearts? You could imagine creating something using them for Riddle later.

Forget-me-nots? Beautiful but not quite what you were looking for.

Carnations? Snapdragons?

Then your eyes settled on them.

Roses.

Their soft petals are as red as blood in perfect bloom. Your eyes widened as you almost hypnotically walked over. You knelt down in front of the bush and caressed one of the soft petals with your thumb.

You just had to have one! These would be perfect to match the color scheme of your room.

Just as you went to pluck it you were quickly reminded that roses also had a dangerous side.

"Ow!" You yelped as you quickly drew back your index finger.

A thorn had pierced through your fragile skin and a pearl of blood started to bulb.

"Roses have thorns you know," An unfamiliar voice spoke.

With a gasp of surprise, you turned your head to see someone walking into your field of vision. Their green cat-like eyes shone in the garden's gentle sun lighting and his black hair glistened like a crow's feather. His pale skin was ashen in color but only seemed to give him a more regal appearance.

Your eyes finally settled on the inhuman horns that protruded from his head making him appear taller. With a soft blush, you realized you were staring and averted your eyes back to the rose bush.

"Uh...right...sorry I got over-eager." You explained.

He continued closer, his shoes tapping against the brick floor until he crouched down beside you.

"Use these."

You hummed and looked down at his hand holding something out to you. It was a pair of clippers used to cut roses from their stems.

"Oh thank you!" You took them from him and started to snip at the best roses until you were satisfied you had the minimum amount needed without ruining the beauty of the bush itself.

"Why are you picking flowers?" The horned man questioned.

"Just to bring some atmosphere to my dorm. My friend and I have been renovating it-the Ramshackle dorm."

"So you're..."

"The new girl? The only girl in this school? Yeah, you probably know me from everyone calling me 'Girlie' or 'MC' but really my name is (Name)."

A faint smile broke out on the man's pale lips, "(Name)? Such a beautiful name."

You blushed and quickly stood, a wave of dizziness knocked into you from standing too fast but you pushed it aside.

"I have to get back to my dorm-my friend Grimm is probably waiting for me." You babbled, "Uh, what's your name so I may thank you properly?"

He stood as well and nodded, "My name is...actually, it doesn't matter. Call me whatever you wish, it was very nice to meet you."

"You too." You bowed your head before holding out the clippers to him, "These are yours."

He hummed and took them from you, a dissatisfied look crossing his face when he noticed your finger was still bloody.

"Your finger..."

"Huh? Oh! It's fine! I'll just head to the nurse and grab a bandaid." You waved it off.

He took your hand and you were rather surprised by how soft and warm his hands were. His long fingers hovered over yours before he leaned down and left a gentle kiss on your wounded finger.

You stiffened sucking in a breath but didn't say anything as his pointed tongue pressed into your wound. His kiss only lasted a few seconds but it felt like a lifetime.

When he pulled away the wound was gone.

"How...?"

"Have you heard of the power of a healing kiss?"

You blushed like a school girl at the word...kiss.

"I apologize, I did not ask for your consent." He abruptly said, mistaking your staring.

"I...I'm still adjusting to magic existing in this world." You rubbed your thumb over the tip of your finger but it was indeed gone.

"Thank you," You smiled up at him and you could see his pale cheeks turn the slightest shade of pink.

"I hope I'll see you again shortly. I need to hurry back to my dorm before Grimm gets worried." Oh, who were you kidding Grim could care less about your safe return.

Sadness seemed to flash for a second in his green eyes but he nodded and didn't stop you, "We will meet soon again...(Name)."

With a final thank you, you hurried off our of the garden.

"That girl..." Malleus said out loud, "She wasn't scared of me...?"

TWISTOBER DAY 22 - ALTERNATE UNIVERSE

I love AUs and this one is a role-swap between Malleus and Yuu! I wanted to do something with the fairies in Twisted Wonderland so in this AU Yuu is a fey but they’re closer to the Tinkerbell movies instead of Briar Valley.

In this AU Yuu’s powers are based around mimicking that of a dragon over actual dragon powers. Their wings look like a dragon’s maw and their fire is hot enough to pass as dragon fire without doing as much damage.

For this AU Yuu is the next Queen Clarion/ Lord Milori figure. They have a somewhat intimidating reputation as one of the next leaders of the fae and being the person who will bring springtime/winter to the mainland. Due to this Yuu goes Night Raven College in order to experience more of the world around them before they have to accept their duties and remain stuck in Pixie Hollow.

However at NRC Yuu is somewhat ostracized because of their position. They’re kind but most people are hesitant to interact with them because of the whole “future person who controls the seasons” thing. They want to make a genuine friend on the mainland and have a few, but maybe that transfer student from another universe can help them make more!

Within this AU Malleus is the Ramshackle Prefect and an ex-deeply isolated rich kid. Within his universe he was the heir to a powerful company and rich family and is taking his unplanned vacation for all its worth. He gets to interact with people who have no idea about his past and explore some really interesting architecture! Of course another benefit is the mysterious person who he meets along his nightly walks!

For the art the flowers around Yuu are begonias and cyclamens. Begonias mean beware and reference their fake predator nature and cyclamens are resignation. The cyclamens acknowledge the fact that Yuu may never see Twisted Wonderland again once they take up their position or will outlive some of their friends.

On a lighter note for the rest of this roleswap the rest of the first years are fairies!

For the purposes of this AU the first years are all human-sized because why not. Jack is a garden fairy who has animal ears because he was born from the laugh of a beastman child and stays fighting the Animal Fairy allegations. They’ve all come along with Yuu to learn more about the mainland and help protect their future leader.

I’m still debating whether or not Grim and Lilia switch places but if they do I imagine that Lilia was trying to sneak Silver into the school and got caught. Sebek was caught helping them and all three of them get sent to Ramshackle Dorm with Malleus. Malleus and Sebek share a student ticket and Lilia and Silver share a student ticket.

-unlike canon!Yuu this Yuu is more asertive, she got a strongheaded and extravertite personnality and take no shit from those around her.

-Use often Grim’s glutonnery against him, for example, Yu always keep on her tuna cans to bride Grim.

-Grim always call Yu his enchwoman only to be constently corrected by an annoyed Yu.

-Grim is the first one in NRC to learn more about Yu’s homeworld and family.

-Yu often use her shadows to catch Grim whenever the cat is wandering off from her sight.

-Crowley: -Yu doesn’t really had a lot of respect for Crowley, especially with the fact he take his sweet time to find a way to send her back to her world.

-When Ace made fun of her the first time they met, Yu roasted him to the point Ace was silenced in embarrassment.

-Had often sleepovers at Ramshackle with the rest of the first years squad after he became friend with Yu.

-Kind of remind Yu of her baba's/mama's(Sun Wukong) story(Aka rowdy troublemaker who then worked hard to be a better person).

-Is often exasperated by his habit to be dragged into Ace's and Grim's BS.

-Became one of Yu's closest friends in NRC.

-When he first met Yu, Deuce was very nervous since he doesn't know how/what to talk with women.

-Riddle: -Yu didn't like him at first, to her he was a bossy and bratty rules obsessed peacock and this opinion didn't go better through the Heartslabyul arc.

-When she learn about Riddle's abusive home lire, while she does feel sorry for him she agreed with Ace that Riddle's home life wasn't an excuse for his horrible behavior.

-Yu nearly have gone berserk when Riddle insulted her family at the unbirthday party until the dorm leader got punched by Ace.

-Comforted him despite being angry against him when she got dragged in his overblot memories.

-Riddle felt very guilty afterward for how he behaved toward Tu and when he appologied Yu decided to forgive him in the "forgive but not forget" way and to give him a chance.

-Both became more friendly toward each other after the Heartslabyul arc.

-Trey: -Yu like him, she find him nice and like to hang out with him.

-Love his pastries and cakes, especially the peach flavored ones.

-Was not impressed by his enabler behavior in the Heartslabyul arc.

-Called him out on his enabling of Riddle's behavior like "True friends's duty is to calling their friends out when they are out of line not to encouraging into bad behavior!".

-Was very worried about him when he got hurt in the Savanaclaw arc.

-Cater: -Like him a lot and find him fun to hang out with.

-Found funny how Ace, Deuce and Grim fall for Cater's trick into making them painting the roses instead of him.

-Leona: -When they first met, Leona wasn't as rude toward Yu as he was in the twst canon since he was raised to be respectful toward women.

-Leona saw Yu at first as a "little monkey herbivore" but get more respect for her when she talk back to him and show he doesn't intimidated her at all.

-The two became friendly Rivals After Tu and the others saved him from his overblot accident.

-Convinced Leona to help them in the Octavinelle arc by annoying him and keep him from sleeping at night with her shadow abilities.

-Jack: -Respect Jack's honorable nature and competitive side a lot.

-Like to do friendly challenges with him.

-Ruggie: -Managed to caugh him in the Savanaclaw arc with her shadow abilities when he try to run away with the sandwich je stole and trick him into giving the sandwich back by trading it with a more deliscious looking dishes she discretly created with one of her hair.

-Jade and Floyd: -Remind Yu a lot of Jin and Yin.

-Is not intimidated by the twins's antics especially Floyd's.

-Floyd call her "Sea Monkey" and like to hold her, "squeeze her" and commenting on how small she is, much to Yu's annoyance.

-Azul: -Yu had mixed feelings about him.

-During the Octavinelle arc, Azul not only tried to take Ramshackle from her with his contrats but also tried to make her his "girlfriend/fiancee" when he learn she was a princess back in her world.

-If after the Octavinelle arc Yu and Azul are on more friendly term, she however know to stay a bit wary toward him when it came to making deals.

-Kalim: -See him as an adorable ball of sunshine.

-Create with time a siblings dynamic.

-Jamil: -Noticed he was more than "simple average" and after the Scarabia arc "encouraged him" in her own way to "stand out more".

-Epel: -Support him with his desire to be more tough and sportive and talk to him about some people from her world who are very strong despite not being physically buffet(ex: Nezha).

-Rook: -Find him a bit wierd, she doesn't hate the guy and know he doesn't mean any harm but the fact she became one of the students he is "following around"(*cough*stalking*cough*) made her a bit disturbed.

-Vil: -Had a lot of respect for Vil's acting skills.

-During the Pomefiore arc Yu wondered if Vil wasn't a demon in disguise with how ruthless he could get.

-Idia: -Didn't really know him at first since Idia is not a social person.

-After the Ignihyde arc the two get to bond through video games.

-During the Ignihyde arc Yu felt very bad for Idia and his loss of his brother.

-Ortho: -Yu like him very much and think hé IS an adorable and nice kid.

-Malleus: -See him as one of her best friends.

-Yu is not fazed by the fact Malleus is one of the strongest mages existing(I mean let's not forget who her family is! X) ), especially when she knex that Malleus is a sweet guy.

-Make sure to invite him as much as possible much to Malleus's joy.

-Both get a crush on each other with time.

-Lilia: -Yu doesn't really know what to think of him, on one hand he is nice but on the other hand he give her the feeling he is more than meet the eye.

-Silver: -Find him nice to hang out with.

-Sebek: -While she respect his anthousiasm and fidelity to Malleus Yu find him VERY loud.

Time 👏 for 👏 another 👏 AU 👏 rant 👏

What happened to Idia? What was he doing? That’s what literally every single former housewarden was asking too. A lot of students figured he must have kicked the bucket since his location remained pretty much a mystery during the first 5 months. Ortho took over as leader of their faction during that time, where they were able to supply electricity to devices via solar panels, hydroelectric turbines, and maintain some form of cellular connection within the barrier. However, trying to reach any connection outside has remained futile.

Magicam, and pretty much every single website has shut down, which prompted bandwidth faction members, as they call themselves now, to manage and maintain methods of group texting when they aren’t busy fixing and repairing electronics and mechanical devices. They’re well known for being the tinkerer faction, and are pretty hard to join if you weren’t formerly an Ignylhyde student. As for Idia, for the first 5 months, he locked himself inside of his room, at first, playing video games to dissociate and figured that eventually someone would be on their way to fix things. That day never came however, which made him reluctantly work on project C E B E R U S. A device that could theoretically safely contain Crowley and finally restore peace to the school. But, due to limited materials, isn’t that viable of an option quite yet.

Also, given it’s Sebek’s birthday today, I figured I would talk about what he’s up to in the AU, and also why the Ramshackle students are put into a random lottery to be human sacrifices. Yeahhh unfortunately, Sebek kicked the bucket 3 months into the fall. As much as Malleus tried his best to keep his strength up, it was failing and he knew he couldn’t keep up much longer. On that fateful night, Sebek was keeping guard outside of his highness’s room as per usual. A shift that he would often switch out between him and Silver. He never saw it coming, but it was quick and it was painless. On that night, Malleus realized that to keep his strength up, it would come at the cost of lives. At first, he thought just one life, just one tragedy, but the energy faded and the hunger returned. The leaders all agreed that it was for the best that ramshackle students, the outcasts of the school, would be put into a lottery to be offered to Draconia, once every two months. A necessary evil for the sake of everyone else inside the school.

How would a villain!Kalim go if his reason was not to torture Jamil but for Jamil? Like a "betrayed the world for you[Jamil]" or smth?

I think it would be a pretty interesting dynamic! It does affect the role of MC at that point too, since in the original part of the AU MC/Yuu tries their best to protect Jamil from Kalim's abuse, but if it was to get Jamil to be more dependent on Kalim,,,

I think this pathway could get very dark very quickly, as it deals with abusive relationships, so I'm going to throw a TW here just in case!

I think Kalim's main goal at that point would be to simply break Jamil mentally and physically until he has to chance of escaping of getting freedom. Seeing how mentally resilient and intelligent Jamil is, I don't think it would get very far (unless Kalim pushes it past a certain point or threatens his family) so it's likely that Jamil, for his own safety and the safety of those around him, would play along.

If Kalim went for the utter destruction of those who opposed or obstructed anything that Jamil wanted, it's likely that Jamil would become even more reserved.

He could instantly use that to his advantage, manipulating Kalim further until the two of them are locked in a battle of Jamil wanting freedom and doing everything in his power to ensure that his family is safe and Kalim wanting nothing more than to keep Jamil happy and under his thumb. It's also very easy to see how Kalim would quickly resort to begging and acting innocent, willing to throw any amount of money on Jamil's worries or spill any amount of blood to ensure that Jamil simply stays with him.

It's a very dangerous codependent situation; Kalim needs Jamil's partnership and the company that he offers, being the heir's only friend for his whole life and the one who was sworn to protect him; Jamil needs safety for his family and financial stability, as well as the social ranking that it gives the Viper name. Despite Jamil's reluctance, it's unlikely that he'd be able to escape easily, if at all.

Of course, the second that Yuu steps into the picture is when Kalim's actions take a darker turn. They're lucky that they survive a week without mysteriously vanishing or Ramshackle catching fire out of the blue. The only way for them to survive, at least from what I can imagine, is if Jamil argues with Kalim and threatens to leave or ignore the heir.

Of course, that could go either way as well. After all, there's only so much Jamil could do to fight against the man he works for
