THIS EXACTLY.
she never believed it, never fully believed that caleb's people were trent because she KNOWS what trent made caleb do and that trent (though not knowing the full details at this point) tortured caleb and made him a killer and that's not his people, she's his people and tm9 is his people!!!!
she knows caleb doesn't want to be associated with the academy or trent or the assembly and she does it anyway because she's hurt and vicious and this is a pain that she thought wouldn't happen because she protected yeza and she made sure he could live and that's entirely how and why she is a goblin now, is something she hates with her whole soul
so when it felt like she had lost what she was working towards, lost the husband she was working so hard to come back to, she lashed out. because this was her losing hope, this was a wound that made her feel so angry and wounded and upset, in a way she hadn't since she became a goblin.
so nott lashed out at the person closest to the people who did this to her. his people. the academy and the assembly were caleb's people. for a moment, nott looked at caleb and saw bren. she didn't see the boy she found, cowering in a cell. she saw an academy member and she saw someone who could've stopped this if maybe he was just stronger and realized trent was doing something andâ then she took a moment. they walked. she told them who she was, who she really was. and she realized, looking at caleb. shaking, scared, wide-eyed calebâ that was the boy she found in the cell. that was her boy, and she called the man who tortured him and made him kill his parents and embedded crystals in caleb's skinâ she called that man caleb's people. but she's his people, she has been since they met
not to mention the way caleb was so just shocked and hurt that nott called the assembly and the academy his people that he couldn't even say anything!!!!! and beau recognized that "oh. shit. that kinda fucked him up" and began to express, and really trying not to say why nott shouldn't have done that because that was a secret entrusted to beau and nott and it wasn't just those 3 in the room it was all of them. and trent tortured caleb and nott of all people said that??
and oh my goddddd caleb being so scared and stressed and on the verge of, if not already, experiencing intense ptsd from seeing ludinus and vess and trent fucking ikithon being called his people byâ by nott?? nott said that to him and he's trapped in this fucking basement and oh god oh god what if vess or ludinus do recognize him, what if they take him back to trent or, even worse, what if they take any of the nein?? what if they make him suffer again and make him kill them all like he killed his parents????
but he cant panic like that. he cant curl up into a ball and cry or have a flashback or go numb or dissociate (even though he definitely does as much as he tries to combat it) he has to be here because he has to help nott but nott hurt him butâ it's nott. aufgghhhfkdjddk
sorry for the ultra yap i literally adore nott and caleb and that scene made me WEEP. they're such intricate characters and their separate complexities and the complexity of their relationship is so good AUGGHHH I CANT GET OVER THEM. please tell me all of your thoughts on empire siblings and nott and caleb RIGHT now (everyone tell me your takes on them NOW)
spoilers for cr campaign 2, ep 48
oh fuck. the difference between beau and caleb's fight versus his interaction with nott in the basement. absolute chills. beau and caleb argue loud and messy, all cards on the table because they're both just so brutally awkward with each other - but it's out of love. when nott called the wizards caleb's people... holy fuck. the quiver sam puts in her voice!! the way caleb's face immediately crumples. it's quiet and vicious, like nott has no one else to blame at the moment and caleb is the easiest target she knows how to hurt the most.
man fuck dnd this shit is way too emotional for being an improv show.

Gotham's Sunshine child part 5
âThe Day the Sun Went Darkâ
It started with the eclipse.
A rare, total one, the kind that turned Gothamâs already dim skies into something unnatural. Shadows sharpened. Streetlights flickered. A hush settled over the city like it was holding its breath.
And Jokerâ Well, Joker looked at the sky and saw an opportunity.
Bruce was already on edge.
So were the others. Tim had pulled up emergency protocols. Oracle flagged Joker chatter on the darknetâgibberish mixed with phrases like âpaint the moon blackâ and âsnuff out the spark.â
Jason said what they were all thinking:
ââŠHeâs going after Danny.â
Joker had learned just enough to be dangerous. Rumors of a boy the city adored. A kid who glowed with goodness and had every crime ring too afraid or too grateful to touch. A child who wasnât just protected by Gothamâs underworldâbut by its shadows.
So naturally, Joker decided to make it a joke.
A sick one.
He waited until the eclipse was total. Until Danny was walking back from a Narrows clinic, having just dropped off a box of donated socks. No backup. No witnesses.
Just him.
And the dark.
The Bat-Family wasnât fast enough.
Not this time.
They were minutes late.
Danny was gone.
When he woke up, the world smelled like copper and chemicals. The floor beneath him was cold. Chains rattled. Lightbulbs buzzed.
âWakey wakey, Little Light,â Joker sing-songed from the edge of a makeshift operating table, fingers twitching with barely restrained glee. âDo you know who you are?â
Danny looked up, groggy and blinking.
Then still.
Thenâ
âYeah,â he said quietly.
Joker leaned in. âTell me, then. Because everyone else seems to think youâre special. Sunshine Child, right? Gothamâs golden boy? Well, guess whatâsunshine doesnât exist without shadows.â
Danny didnât flinch.
Didnât panic.
Didnât scream.
He just sat there.
Silent.
Still.
And thenâ something shifted.
It was slow.
The air dropped ten degrees. The buzzing lightbulbs crackled. Shadows grew longer, deeperâlike they were watching. Waiting.
And Dannyâs shoulders slumped.
When he finally looked up at Joker, the glow in his eyes was not sunlight.
It was ice.
âYou made a mistake,â he said, voice barely more than a whisper.
Joker laughed. âOoooh, scary. Did I break the sun?â
Dannyâs next words were cold enough to silence the room:
âNo. You eclipsed it.â
Outside, in the city, it started to snow.
In August.
Frost crawled up windows. Electrical grids shorted. Spectral energy readings spiked so hard that Constantine choked on his tea three cities over and muttered, âOh, bollocks.â
The Bat-Family was mid-search when Barbara gasped.
âGuys,â she said through the comms. âHeâs going ghost.â
Inside the warehouse, Dannyâs chains shattered like glass.
The boy who had smiled at muggers, shared soup with thieves, and taught math to gang kidsâ
Floated.
His eyes glowed with eldritch green light.
The temperature dropped with every word.
âYou hurt Gothamâs people. You used my name. You tried to twist it.â
Joker backed away. For the first time in yearsâhe was confused. Not afraid. Confused.
âWhâwhat are you?â
Danny didnât grin.
Didnât monologue.
He just unleashed.
The explosion of spectral energy tore through the building. Screams filled the airânot just Jokerâs, but the echoes of every soul heâd ever scarred.
By the time the Bat-Fam arrived, the warehouse looked haunted.
Frozen graffiti on the walls.
Chains hanging midair.
Joker? Curled in a fetal position, babbling nonsense, his smile gone.
And Danny?
He stood in the center of it all.
Floating. Glowing. Crying.
ââŠI didnât want to,â he whispered.
Bruce caught him as he collapsed.
It took three days for Danny to wake up again.
He expected panic. Anger. Rejection.
Instead, he opened his eyes to find Jason sitting at his bedside, polishing a crowbar and humming.
âYo.â
Danny blinked. ââŠAm I in trouble?â
Jason scoffed. âKid, you scared Joker into therapy. I think we owe you a medal.â
Later, Bruce came in. Quiet. Calm.
âDanny,â he said, âyou didnât lose control. You protected yourself. And this city.â
Dannyâs voice was barely a murmur. âBut the eclipseâwhat I feltâI didnât even know I could do that.â
Bruce rested a hand on his shoulder.
âYouâre not just our Sunshine,â he said. âYouâre our shield.â
Gotham whispered, after that day.
That the boy who once smiled through everything had a storm inside him.
But they didnât fear it.
They respected it.
Because when the sun went darkâ
Danny Fenton shone brighter.

fig. 3. heart in flames; baptism by fire | John Price x Reader

MASTERLIST · AO3
The universe hasn't seen fit to give Price a mate of his own. He'll have to take matters into his own hands.
or: the forced mating omegaverse au
tags: Size Difference, Size Kink, Omegaverse, Explicit Sexual Content, AFAB Reader, Stalking, Kidnapping, Heavy Noncon/Dubcon Elements
His appetite is an arsenal all on its own.Â
Itâs always been bigger than him, barrel-chested. All consuming. Itâs the reason that John is where he is today, always chasing down something larger than himself. Greedy for what he canât have. Ambitious to a fault. Promotions and titles and commendations and accolades; theyâre all wrapped up in his psychology, into whatever it is about him that wants without end. Without satisfaction.Â
Itâs likely why he ends up being referred to an endocrinologist specializing in hormone disorders in alphas when an overproduction of androstenone turns his ruts violent. Over the years, theyâve been steadily getting worse, even with a partner to help see him through the worst of it, the overproduction of hormones making him a little too mindless, a little too frenzied.Â
âItâs not especially common for men your age, if I can be frank,â the doctor tells him, flipping through his chart. âNot uncommon, but low enough that I want to send you for a couple tests just to be safe. Youâre still unmated?â
John nods. âThatâs right.â
Itâs not that the option hasnât ever presented itself, but the timing has never felt right. Even marriage hadnât sweetened the deal, and maybe thatâs why heâs just north of forty-five and already divorced. The fault lies with him alone; heâs man enough to admit that. Maybe if heâd been more attentive, less likely to disappear for months at a time; if heâd swallowed his reluctance and just bit his omega instead of dragging his feet through his marriage like a prisoner marching to his own doomâmaybe things might be different.Â
âAny plans to change that?â
ââFraid not.â
The truth of the matter is that, though heâs waited a lifetime for that special someone to cross his path, no one has ever come close to smelling right. Even his ex-wife had only come so closeâgood enough to turn his head, but not enough to keep him. Or maybe he hadnât been enough to keep her. These days, itâs hard to say which feels more like the truth.Â
Sometimes John thinks that itâs simply not in the cards for him. That for whatever reason, destiny or God or the universe or whatever force that decides the fate of all things, has deemed him unfit for the other half of his soul.Â
Itâs just that itâs beenâ
Itâs been a long time without anyone to call his own.
The doctor scribbles something down in Johnâs chart. âAlright.â
With his rut coming up in just a few days, the timing couldnât be better. It sizzles like a low grade fever under his skin. He works up a sweat more easily, even a couple flights of stairs leaving the pits of his shirt dark and damp. Thereâs a little extra padding around his midsection, a bit more bulk on his arms and thighs; his beard a little thicker than usual, forcing him to trim it twice a day to keep it from growing out of control. Even though it happens every year, it sneaks up on him, the added mass making him a bit lethargic in the weeks before his rut.Â
âWe wonât have the results in time for your next scheduled rut, but Iâd recommend asking a trusted partner to help you out. And wear protection. We have extra mouth guards and other paraphernalia if you need anything.â
John holds up a hand when the doctor goes to open a drawer. âIâve got plenty at home. Appreciate the advice though. Any medication I should be taking?â
âI donât want to start you on anything this close to your rut, but maybe after. Iâll have the front desk set up a follow up appointment for you for two weeks from now.â
He nods, making a mental note.Â
There are a couple girls he could call up on short notice, but the thought sits like a dull weight in his chest. The decades of casual heats and ruts have left him with little appetite for that sort of thing these days. What he wantsâcraves really, needs reallyâis something permanent, something meaningful. Johnâs been around the block enough to know that heâs looking for something more.Â
Heâs had good ruts and bad ruts. Ruts spent in the warm embrace of another, filling up a soft, wet hole again and again until his spend leaked down their thighs, lost in a daze of pheromones and heat-slick. Ruts spent entombed in his own frustrated lust, mindlessly rutting into a cum-filled fleshlight to slake a thirst that never ebbs, only flows and rushes over the guardrails, dragging him further under.Â
This one might end up falling into the latter category.
âRight, well, thanks for stopping by, John. You have a good rest of your day, alright?â
âSame to you.â
His nostrils burn the second he walks back into the main corridor, which is teeming with activity, children climbing over their parentsâ laps and people still waiting to see a doctor slumped over in their chairs. Two interns wheel a bed down the hall, forcing everyone to scoot to the side and cling to the wall to get out of the way. Thereâs always too many people in the hospital. Too many smells.Â
This close to his rut, everything reeks. Congealed sweat and antiseptic; plastic chairs that smell simultaneously of sick and Lysol wipes, confusing his nose. Stale body odour from those in the waiting room on their sixth hour of waiting on loved ones or on an available doctor. Itâs a bludgeon to the senses, particularly when theyâre more sensitive than usual.Â
An elevator takes him down to the first floor, which is even more chaotic than the one John was just on somehow. Patients and doctors spilling out of rooms, announcement after announcement blaring over the intercom, and alwaysâalwaysâthe sharp scent of isopropyl, astringent against the inside of his nose.Â
âI donât understandâdid she leave?âÂ
The voice catches him like a fish on a hook on his way towards the main entrance, beadhead soaring through the air and slipping under the surface of the water just as heâs angling to leave.Â
When John turns around, youâre standing by the front desk with your chin tucked into your chest. You make a pitiful sight like that, with your lips pursed and your eyebrows pinched, and you hold yourself almost delicately, hands gripping the edge of the desk to stabilize yourself.Â
He takes a deep inhale. Though admittedly heâs not close enough to get a good whiff, your scent is muted, likely dampened by the effects of several painkillers and the anesthetic still running through your system. The stench of pain is strong too, which accounts for the way you hold your body and move so gingerly, the brace on your arm a good indication.Â
âIâm sorry, maâam. If sheâs not here, she must have left. You could try calling her?â the nurse at the front desk says, almost apologetic. âWe canât let you leave without an escort to take you home.â
âOkay, umâŠâ you whisper, and now your scent is pungent with panic, acerbic. âLet me call her and ask her to come back.â
The sound of your voice is stronger now that itâs had time to travel. Again he feels it pinch him like coming out of a dream.
Itâs so unremarkable that John nearly carries on down the hall towards the entrance, nothing about the interaction sticking out.Â
Something keeps him rooted in place though. Intuition or a sixth sense or finely honed instincts. So instead of leaving, he turns around and walks right back to the front desk, stopping when heâs within armâs length of you, eyes soaking up the sight of your tensed shoulders.
He doesnât know the words are going to come out of his mouth until they do. âLost your way home?âÂ
When you turn your eyes up to look at him, he feels the breath get knocked out of him. Prettier than anything heâs ever seen, the lure at the end of a fishing line drawing him in.Â
And yet, for as pleasant as you smell, itâs nothing dissimilar to the countless omegas John has come across before. It evokes nothing primalâno deep-seated urge to sink his canines into a plump gland and bind you to him.Â
You simply smell nice.
Itâs difficult to articulate the devastation that courses through him. Heâd hoped against hope that it would happen, that someday he would turn a corner and his fated mate would be there, looking at him like what took you so long? But how long can a man be expected to wait? How many years of disappointment can he be expected to weather by himself, his hopes dashed repeatedly?Â
In less than a second, he makes a decision.Â
One too many times, heâs hoped for fate to intervene and reward him for his patience. It never has. That responsibility must fall on him.Â
Thereâs nothing new about trying to immanentize the eschaton, but John has faith in himself. If fate wonât do what must be done, then he will instead.Â
âExcuse me?â you ask. So polite.Â
âHeard you talking to the nurse about your ride home; sounds like youâre in a bit of a fix.â
âYeah, IâŠumâŠâ You seem torn on whether or not to keep up the conversation, likely finding his attention a bit intrusive, but gentility prevails in the end. Good. He was just starting to like you. âMy friend was supposed to drive me home after surgery, but it looks like she mightâve bailed. Sheâs not answering my texts, but someone else said they saw her leave.â
âSorry to hear that. Not fair, putting you in a spot like that.â
âIâm trying to give her the benefit of the doubt, butâŠuhâŠâ You laugh, a touch derisively. âThis is kind of screwing me over. Iâm trying to get another friend to come pick me up, but itâs short notice and most people canât just call out of work at the drop of a hat.â
Thereâs a vulnerable note in your voice almost masked by the touch of annoyance in your laugh but still plain for anyone attentive enough to hear. John is nothing but attentive.
âDonât let her screw you over and get away with it,â he says, positioning himself on your side. âShort of someone dying, thereâs no reason she shouldâve left you on your own after an operation.â
âYouâre probably right,â you murmur, too tired to put up a fight. âIt just sucks. I wish she hadnât told me yes in the first placeâI couldâve asked someone else and given them more notice.â
âIf youâre looking for a way home, Iâd be happy to give you a lift.â John shrugs a shoulder when your lips open, the polite refusal already bubbling up your throat rebuffed by his next words. âIâm headed out now anyway. Just came to get some bloodwork done, nothing serious. Wouldnât be an imposition at all.â
Your eyebrows pull together, teeth sinking into your bottom lip.Â
âIâm not sure if I should be accepting rides from strangers.â
Thereâs a teasing lilt there, but also an undercurrent that heâs become familiar with over the years. A tempered kind of caution. One that says the words with a smile but prepares to sprint the other way.Â
He smiles and holds out his hand. âIâm John.â When you take it, he knows heâs got you. âNot strangers anymore, are we?â
You answer that with a coy shake of your head, giving your name just as readily.
âSo, how about it? Can I take you home?â John asks, repeating the invitation. His blood simmers when you take too long to answer.
âMaâam,â the nurse suddenly interjects from the front desk, taking your attention away from him. Itâs surprising how much that displeases him. âHave you gotten in touch with your friend yet or do we have to put you on the list for the drop-off service?â
John can see you warring with the options in your mind, eyes flitting between him and the nurse.Â
âActually, I found a ride home. Can I sign out?â
âMind if I ask what you were in for?â
The drive to your house is mostly uneventful. He plugs your address into the GPS and hits save when something outside the window catches your attention.Â
âIt was just a little procedure.â His ensuing silence must make you nervous because you volunteer the reason for your stay after just a few short seconds. âCarpal tunnel release. My job involves a lot of typing, so I couldnât keep putting it off; canât wait to go back to living normally.â
He clocked the splint and the bandage around your hand and wrist when he approached you at the hospital, but itâs good to put a label on it. John makes a mental note to look up the post-op protocol for carpal tunnel surgery when the two of you get home. Itâll help him to better understand and address your needs in the coming days and weeks, and what heâll need to watch out for when his rut finally sets in.Â
Heâll clue you in on all of that later when heâs had a chance to explain himself.Â
âShame that your friend didnât stick around to get you home. Probably still in a bit of pain, arenât you?â
âNot yet. The painkillers theyâve got me on are really good.â
âHm. I bet.â
Youâre not that loopy despite being on painkillers though. More tired than anything.Â
âI probably couldâve planned this better. I didnât even get groceries before leaving for surgery.â
âYou want me to stop and pick you up a couple things?â
He can see you turn to look at him from the corner of his eye. âAre you sure?â
âIâve got time. Do you know what you need?â
You rattle off the couple items that you need and John merges into the left lane while listening, heading towards the nearest grocery store.Â
He makes you stay in the car while he goes in to pick up a couple things, his number plugged into your phone in case you need him to rush back. The few items you rattle off arenât sufficient enough for what youâll need over the coming weeks, so John takes the liberty of purchasing a few extra things. Cured meats, fruit, a box of pastries for breakfast, and a couple frozen microwaveable meals. Baby wipes, lotion, and a multivitamin. All the essentials for a rut.Â
There are things back at his place that heâll need for his rut, but heâll ask Simon to pick those up whenever he has a chance. Itâs why John gave him a spare key after all.Â
When he wheels the cart out of the store, he comes around by the back of the car, popping the trunk before you have a chance to see the sheer amount of bags in his cart. There will be a time later to talk you through whatâs going to happen.Â
âSorry if my list was complicated,â you apologize when he gets back into the front seat, the cart in the corral. It doesnât change where things were already heading, but it makes him look at you a bit differently. Thereâs a sweetness to you, one he hadnât noticed before.Â
He likes it though.
âWasnât complicated in the least,â John says, brushing off the apology. âJust took me a while to find everything. Didnât mean to keep you waiting.â
Your eyes crinkle when you smile. âIâm not in any hurry.â
Johnâs always liked docile things. Sweet, simpering things with nervous eyes and gentle demeanours.Â
Moreoverâ
what isnât already tamed is his to break.Â
Youâre a cagey thing as well though. At least, you get cagey when John gets out of the car and follows you up the front stairs on your porch instead of hovering a safe distance away. He keeps the subterfuge up by only carrying in the bags with the things you requested, leaving the rest in his car for now.
âI really appreciate all your help; I should be able to take it from here though,â you tell him at the door, the key still tucked in your hand. Your voice is infused with enough gratitude that a duller man might let it stroke their ego while you slipped inside and out of their grasp.
John smiles instead. âWouldnât be doing the right thing if I let you go without making sure you got to bed safe and sound. Open the door, sweetheart.â
He can see the hesitation on your face plain as day. Every instinct telling you not to let a man into your house, much less an alpha.Â
But inevitably you let him in.
Good girl.
The house is saturated with your scent. He has to take a deep inhale right off the bat, committing your scent to memory. Without the overwhelming stench of antiseptic and sickness from the hospital, your scent is cleaner, richer. Preserved in amber.Â
Thereâs something faint underlying your lived-in scent though. He canât quite name it, but it sits on the tip of his tongue like a tune heâs heard before.Â
âMind if I put these away for you?â John asks, lifting the grocery bags in his hands.Â
âOhâyes, thank you. The kitchenâs that way.â You point towards the back of the house.
John carries the bags with just your groceries to the kitchen and unloads everything one by one into the fridge. The meager contents of your fridge speak to a frugal, solitary existence, and suddenly the faint smell permeating through your house has a name. Loneliness.Â
A man hasnât been in here in quite some time, if ever. Every single inch of the house has been scrubbed with your scent, not a trace of any former occupant remaining. No roommate or close friend or boyfriend.Â
âNice place youâve got,â he comments when he walks back into the living room to find you fiddling around with the cushions on the couch, arranging them to make yourself a cozy spot to lie down.
You look up at the sound of his voice and smile, faintly flattered. âThank you. Iâve only had it a year, but uhâŠIâve been doing my best. Alsoâthanks again for driving me home. And stopping for groceries.â Your lips go round like youâve remembered something. âI still have to pay you back by the way. Wait right here.â
âLet me go get the rest from the car first,â John says.Â
âThereâs more?â you ask, surprised.Â
He nods. âI got you a couple extra thingsâon me. I hope that wasnât too much of an overstep.â
You chew your lip but ultimately the uncertainty melts from your gaze the longer he stands there waiting for your approval. ââŠNo, thatâsâŠthatâs fine. You didnât have to, but thank you.â
His overstep is just a toe over the lip of the door, but itâs still a foot keeping the door from closing.Â
On his way back out to the car, John happens to glance down while passing the table in the entryway and finds, much to his delight, your phone resting casually beside the vanity tray. It sits there like you purposefully left it for him to take.Â
If not you, then fate.Â
With deft fingers practiced at lifting, he pockets your phone, and then heads back to the car for the rest of the groceries, whistling the whole way there and back.Â
You start to look at him a bit differently when he brings in the second round of groceries. The number of bags hanging from his forearms must strike you as odd, too many for what you asked him to pick up. John doesnât bother making any excuses though.Â
He can see your trust wavering, pulled out from the water and left belly up in the air, gasping for breath. It wouldnât be hard to fix it. It wouldnât be hard to go about this the right wayâleave you with your groceries and pain meds, tuck you into bed before seeing himself out, and then waiting a couple days to ask you out for coffee. To leave now would mend your trust entirely.Â
He considers it even, never one for turning down a potential strategy without considering its merit. But his alpha digs its heels in when he contemplates leaving, pushing every inch of its weight into rooting him in place.Â
It doesnât want him to leave; and truth be told, John canât bear the thought either.Â
The little trust you extended evaporates more and more as the minutes tick by and he shows no sign of leaving. You dance around it for a while, cautiously hopeful that he might be inadvertently overstaying his welcome, and John watches your descent into hopelessness from the corner of his eyes.Â
Itâs only when he helps himself to a snack from the fridge and turns the television on that you break, sweat beading on your upper lip.Â
âJohn, I think maybe you s-should leave.â
The confidence you muster up to even just say that impresses him. It takes a lot out of you though, your body sagging when the words come out of your mouth, so much tension building up in your muscles that it literally weighs you down.
The hand with the remote drifts down to his side. âWhat do you mean, sweetheart?â John asks.Â
âWell, IâveâIâve got it from here.â You switch to a more diplomatic tone, likely wary of worsening the situation youâve gotten yourself into. Aware that youâve invited him into your house, that your safe space now has another resident. âI donât need any more help.âÂ
Though not as close to his rut as he will be in the coming days, the sentiment still makes him bristle. You donât need any more help. Rich considering you let a strange alpha take you home not half an hour ago.Â
He places the remote down and advances on you briskly, all of a sudden, quick enough that you only notice when heâs right in front of you, surprise overriding your fight or flight response.Â
John cups the back of your neck with a big hand and tilts your head up until he can see the puffy, virgin mating gland sitting in the crook of your neck. Thumbs it too, ignoring the way your eyes go wide and horrified, and the way you try to wriggle out of his grasp until he tightens his hand around the nape of your neck.Â
âOf course you do, sweetheart. Can't have you wandering around like thisâwrong person might try to take advantage.â
Fear makes your pupils dilate. It stinks too, the stench wafting off you. A bit of initial unpleasantness is expected though, and understandable. Itâll be a lot to help work you through the worst of it, but itâs nothing he hadnât already internally committed to.Â
âYouâreâyouâre not going to leave?â
John shakes his head and smiles.Â
Smart girl that you are, you donât jump to screaming and shouting. Not that the urge isnât there building in your chest, but you know the odds are stacked against you. Youâve already let him in.Â
Your breathing picks up though, and your lip trembles. An anxious swallow follows, then another, throat too dry for you to speak.Â
âWhy?â
âCâmere, sweetheart.â John takes you by the hand, careful to avoid the bandaged one, and pulls you to the couch, where he takes a seat. âWe can only have a frank conversation about this if you promise to be polite and wait your turn to speak. Clear?â
Your lips twitch with displeasure but you nod.Â
âMy rutâs coming up in a week.â He catches you before you spring back up to your feet, yanking you back down by your arm. âNo, donât try to run; this is happening, love. My rutâs coming up and Iâm staying here for it, okay?â
âI can stay someplace else,â you offer weakly, voice breaking.Â
His smile verges on pitying. âNo, sweetheart. Youâre staying here with me for it.â
Your scent goes sour. Ammonium sulfide and allicin. His nose would wrinkle if heâd been expecting anything less than your reaction, but you conform, as always, beautifully to his expectations.Â
âYou canâtâŠmake me go through a rut with you.â Your throat constricts around the word rut.Â
âYes, I can,â he says simply because thatâs what it is. Simple.
In a world of people riddled with guilt complexes and victim mentalities, he stands alone. He has no qualms about taking whatâs owed to him, or with shaping the world according to the version of it that lives in his head. Thatâs how history is made.Â
He canât judge others for their nature the same way he canât fault himself for his.Â
âI thought you said you were in the army.â
âI did.â
âIsnât thisâŠâthis is against the law then, isnât it?â
âYouâre thinking of American law, sweetheart.â He doesnât bring up any similar protection against forced billeting enshrined in English law. Best to not get lost in the weeds.Â
Thereâs a tick in your eyes that betrays you. John readies himself for a chase when your eyes glance over his shoulders towards the door, but you discard that plan as quickly as it entered your brain. Weighing the odds and finding them not in your favour.Â
âI have friends,â you blurt out. âFamily. People check up on me.â
âThatâs fine, love. When they do, youâre gonna tell them that youâre taking a week off to rest and you donât want anyone coming by in the meantime.â When you donât respond, clearly thinking something different, irritation flickers in his chest. âWanna know why youâre going to do that?â
ââŠWhy?â
ââCause you know this could go one of two ways. We could either have a nice time together and Iâll be on my way afterwardsâŠor I could bite that little mating gland of yours now and we can take that option off the table.â
Thereâs no point in telling you that heâs already made up his mind about that part. The allure of hope is too tempting; he has to give you something to latch onto.Â
âDo we understand each other?â he asks.Â
Your initial hesitation tells him all he needs to know. This wonât be an easy conquest or a city handed over to spare its citizens painâyou wonât hesitate to put up a fight.Â
âOkay.âÂ
John makes himself at home like a fox laying claim to a rabbitâs burrow.Â
Siege warfare. A lifetime in the military has made him well versed in poliorcetics. He knows of how the Romans once conquered the city of Fidene by launching false attacks from four different directions at four different times before breaching the city through a long tunnel that passed under its walls, and how Alexander captured the city of Tyre by building a kilometer-long causeway and besieging it for seven months.
Your phone was the first thing to go, confiscated lest you got any funny ideas about calling someone to rescue you. Not that you need rescuing; in the end, youâll see that this was in your best interests too. The next thing to do is your laptop, tucked away out of reach until youâve proved yourself to be trustworthy.Â
He cuts off all trade routes and replaces them with his own, Simon showing up at the door the following morning with supplies. When you spot a man at the door, you must think saviour before foe, because you pound on the window facing the porch. At least John had the foresight to lock you out of the foyer before he opened the front door.
Simon cocks an eyebrow. âNoisy mouse, ainât she?â
He shrugs. âSheâll learn. You got everything I asked for?â
âCheck ân tell me if I missed anything. I âavenât got time to get anything else today, but I can come back tomorrow.â
âGood man, Simon. Give me a minute, alright, lad?â
John gives the bag a cursory check, but just as he thought, Simon didnât miss anything. He never does.Â
Simon helps him install an electronic lock on the front door from the inside before heading off to work and John spends the next ten minutes programming it while you stare through the foyer door helplessly. The back door gets the same treatment later on, effectively rendering you a prisoner in your own house.
Then he takes stock of the property.Â
Youâve made yourself a perfectly respectable home. It has all the charm of a simple family home, nothing like his ancestral estate on the Welsh border; thereâs something real here, something designed with comfort in mind. Youâll have to live with summering there and wintering here in the city, but he wonât ask you to abandon the life youâve made for yourself here. The stoveâs at least thirty years oldâone of those old brands made to last, likely passed down from a family member or bought secondhand.Â
But John takes stock of the layout of the house because the longer heâs there, the more his instincts tingle.Â
As well-decorated and maintained as your house is, it doesnât feel ready for a rut. Too many hard edges and wide open spaces. Before humans became accustomed to single domiciles, instinct wouldâve made them search far and wide for a burrow or cave comfortable enough to ride out their cycle.Â
Like nest building for omegas, den making is inherent to alphas. Itâs programmed in his DNA. Even out in the wild, heâd know how to make oneâknow what materials to look for in the absence of soft pillows and sheetsâand feel that same urge to make a space suitable for his mate.Â
Everything in its right place.
He starts by pulling the mattress off the bed frame and dragging it to the corner of the room. It makes your room feel like more of a den, a place to hunker down in, and thatâs only reinforced when John pulls out every blanket and pillow from your linen closet and drapes them over the mattress. You donât have blackout curtains, but he solves that by pinning a few sheets up on your blinds until barely any light passes through.Â
Preparing for a rut is a little like preparing for a storm. One has to batten down the hatches to ready themselves for the worst of it. He installs locks on the cutlery drawers and stows the knife block away in the highest cabinet, locking that as well. He thinks of the worst case scenarios and plans accordingly.Â
You donât seem to appreciate his efforts though.
âWhy are youââ you start and then abruptly stop, swallowing. âPlease stop rearranging the furniture.âÂ
John pauses, putting the couch down gently so as not to damage the floorboards or upset you with any sudden noise.Â
âWell, love, Iâm not about to let you do all the backbreaking work, now am I?â
That response doesnât seem to satisfy you, expression still twisted into a scowl. âNeither of us has to do any work. Why are you moving things around in the first place?â
âYou really donât get how these things are done, do you?â
Embarrassment makes you snappy. âNo, and I donât have to because itâs my fucking house either way. Stop moving my furniture.â
His eyes go half-lidded. Anger courses through his veins like floating down a lazy river. John has never liked being told what to doâitâs a personality quirk thatâs been both a hindrance and a help to his career, but in his love life, heâs never allowed that sort of thing to fly. The dissolution of his first marriage speaks for itself.Â
He lumbers around the couch towards you and you flinch, walking backwards in the opposite direction. Heâs quick despite his size though, hand reaching up and cupping the back of your neck before you hit the wall behind you, and all you can do is stare up at him towering over you nervously.Â
âCareful, sweetheart,â John murmurs, holding you firmly enough by the back of your neck that you whimper, only one hand able to press against his chest in an effort to push him away. The other you cradle limply against your chest. âKeep running your mouth like that and I might need to find a better way to put it to use. Ever had your mouth knotted?â
Nothing headier than the idea of pushing to the back of his omegaâs throat and letting his knot expand until itâs trapped behind your teeth, keeping you locked on his cock until itâs softened enough to pull out.Â
He stores the idea away for later. It wouldnât do to knot your mouth for the first time during his rut when he doesnât have the wherewithal to take it slow and keep you centred, but itâs an idea heâll have to return to at a later date. When he has time to sit you on his lap and comfort you after something so intense instead of thinking only of his own urges.Â
Rut isnât a completely mindless state of being. Even in the thrall of his rut, John will still have enough cognizance to make somewhat informed decisions. It would be dangerous if alphas were susceptible to any influence during such a vulnerable period. Anyone could take advantage of someone in that state.Â
There are some things that he doesnât have complete control over. The closer John gets to the onset of his rut, the stronger the urge to scent his territory gets.Â
It starts off relatively innocuous. He touches things more. Grips the doorframe when he enters a room and brushes against the wall when he turns a corner. Anything to leave a trace of his scent behind. But as the days progress and the urge to mark whatâs his grows to monstrous proportions, the manner in which he chooses to do so shifts in kind.Â
âDid you piss in the shower?â you seethe, fists clenched when you storm into the living room where John is seated at the couch watching Casablanca in black and white.Â
He grunts. Nods.Â
âYou couldâve turned the water on to rinse it out,â you hiss. âOr used the toilet.â
âNot the point,â John says.Â
âThere was a point to pissing in my shower?â
âNever spent a rut with anyone, have you?â That pleases the lazy beast inside of him, but heâs not in any mood to explain himself. Thatâs what books are for. He prefers to teach through example.Â
âWhat does it matter? That still doesnât mean you can piss in my shower.âÂ
He takes a swig from the bottle in his hand. âThen you wonât wanna go around the side of the house.â
The screech gets all tangled up at the back of your throat, only the memory from the last time you sassed him staying your tongue. John can only smile to himself as you storm out of the room.
For all your resistance, he knows youâre not entirely immune to his presence, same as how he canât shake the gnawing need to bury himself in you as deep as he can get. Heâs a prime specimen of alphaâall thick muscle and dark tufts of hair, belly spilling over the top of his jeans and new notch on his belt from the mass heâs tacked on the weeks leading up to his rut. Heâs been around the block enough to know his appeal.Â
Itâs why John doesnât worry when you hiss and spit. Views the fuss you put up akin to foreplay, a little rough-housing before the situation gets serious.Â
There are tells after all. Itâs the way you look at him when you think heâs not paying attention. Furtive glances from the corners of your eyes. Shifting your hips in your chair when he sits across from you at meal times and spreads his legs wide, knocking his knees against yours. Eyes going hazy and lingering on the bulging muscles of his arms when you watch him move the furniture around in your house.Â
He thinks sometimes about dragging you into bed early. Getting it out of the way now and getting you used to his touch before his rut sets in. It would be a kindness, in a way.Â
But he relishes getting to see you squirm, the pseudo-heat sinking in day by day and making you more persuasive, less likely to bolt when your hand finally heals. Your instincts will do half the work for him. All he has to do is wait.Â
Besides, the greater the effort, the sweeter the reward.Â
Midway through the week, when his rut is close enough to be a thorn in his side but not close enough to have earned him the right to refuse to come in, Laswell has him come in for some inane reason.Â
John still doesnât trust you enough to leave you alone though, so he calls Simon and asks him to babysit you for a couple hours. Not a half hour later, the manâs on his doorstep, hands by his sides and expression deadpan. Even out of the service, heâs still a good soldier.Â
Itâs what makes Simon his favourite sometimes, though heâd never tell a soul. John knows itâs not right to play favourites with his men, but in the privacy of his own mind, he can face reality.Â
âI wonât be gone long, sweetheart, but Simonâs gonna watch you while Iâm out. You gonna be on your best behaviour for him?â
Your eyes cut to Simon and they look dangerous. Calculating. His lips almost twitch in amusement under his mustache.Â
âSure,â you say instead of arguing. Itâs more of a red flag than if you had.Â
The five hours he spends away from you are excruciating, and his temper suffers for it. These days, at his own insistence heâs been relegated to something of a desk job, but that still comes with its fair share of responsibility. There are certain strategic meetings that he canât simply decline to attend, and though the hours pass by fast enough, he can still feel your presence like an itch at the back of his head that he canât seem to scratch.
When he gets home, the itch finally dissipates.
âHow was she?â John asks.
âBiter.â Simon holds up a forearm where your bite mark sits livid red against his pale skin. The imprint is deep, nearly piercing right through flesh near the canines.Â
John whistles. âShe did a number on you.â
Simon shrugs, unbothered. âLeft the door unlocked and she tried to run. Fast on her feet.â Never did have his head on straight, that one. John feels no pity for the omega thatâll be his one day, but he has some sympathy.
He wonât discipline you just yet. Thatâll be a project for another dayâafter youâre mated and hitchedâand he can take his time training you. For now itâs enough that youâre still tucked away inside the den, not quick enough to outrun his lieutenant.Â
Simon leaves with a few crisp bills folded in his back pocket and John claps his shoulder on the way out.Â
The time is coming though. Every day pulls the sun thick off the horizon, the water dragging back from the shore. Soon, there will be a wave.
John knows his rut has started when he wakes up one morning as grumpy as a bear fresh out of hibernation.Â
The first thing he hears is the sound of his stomach growling. Food. His first conscious thought. His stomach aches something fierce, like he hasnât eaten in quite some time, even though John vaguely recalls eating supper the night before (though for the life of him he canât remember what).Â
His mind processes all of the information around him slowly and sluggishly, not in a hurry to make sense of anything. His vision still works perfectly fine, but his brain takes awhile to register what his eyes are seeing. Only base impulses make any sense. He sniffs the air to help guide him towards a food source.Â
Something warm-smelling comes slinking out of the bathroom quietly. His head snaps in its direction and it freezes in its tracks. Prey.Â
He sniffs again. No, not prey. Something different.Â
Standing up feels strange, like heâs out of his body. Itâs too big somehow. Heavier than he remembers it being. The thing trembling by the doorway doesnât move as he lumbers over, smart enough to know not to run. He wouldnât be able to stop himself from chasing it down if it tried to get away, prey or not.Â
It flinches when he drops his head, the bridge of his nose brushing against its temple. His scentâs all over this one. He must have come or pissed on it at one point, marking it as his own. His scent clings to its skin, buried deeper than the epidermis.Â
It shifts to one foot.
âDonâtâŠmoveâŠâ he growls, tensing up. It tenses up too, breathing out short, shaky breaths.Â
âJ-John?â it says, voice like a bell in his head. It knows his name.
âHungry,â he says instead of asking how it knows who he is.Â
âIâŠI can make you breakfast.â
He herds it away from the bathroom door instead of answering, staring it down as it walks backwards down the hall and into the room that smells strongest of food.Â
The house smells of him only vaguely. It smells mainly of the thing he herds into the kitchen, warm and spicy like cinnamon or cloves. Thereâs a faint trace of his scent though, as if heâs been here for enough time that it isnât wholly foreign. His hackles raise at the thought of not being in his own territory though.Â
But this must also be his. If youâre his, then your den must, in turn, belong to him.Â
You scurry around the kitchen gathering all of the ingredients for breakfast while he stares from his chair, eyes tracking your every move. Part of him waits for you to try and bolt, on edge when you open the fridge and the sound makes his ears twitch. His muscles sit bunched under his skin, ready to pounce and chase.Â
When you put the plate down in front of him, you make as if to take a step back, clearly meaning to give him some space. That wonât do. A firm hand on your forearm rectifies that; he pulls you down onto his lap before youâve had a chance to register whatâs happening.Â
âWhoa,â you gasp, all turned around.Â
The first piece of bacon he tries to pick up slips from his fingers. The next one he manages to pick up goes straight to your lips. âEat.â
âIâm notââ
âEat.â
Your cheeks bulge around the mouthful of bacon and eggs when he lifts another bite to your mouth. You chew quickly, swallowing before itâs fully chewed, nervous that his loose hold on his temper might slip. Only after youâve had a couple filling bites does John allow himself to eat as well.
Some of his sense of self comes back with time. The pieces start coming back together. Your name, where he is, what youâre doing here. It comes back as his belly fills.Â
His nature doesnât allow him to feel pity, but you should at least know whatâs ahead of you.
âItâs starting today,â he tells you, breaking the silence. You go stiff in his arms and then swallow the mouthful of food youâd been chewing.
âToday?â you repeat, your voice slightly hoarse.Â
âRut.âÂ
The word hangs in the air between him and you. John can almost hear your heart start to double in rhythm.Â
You nod and whisper, âOkay.âÂ
The thing behind his eyes stares you down. It watches you chew and swallow your food until thereâs nothing left on the plate, until your lips are tacky with grease and you have to suck your teeth to dislodge the trapped bits.Â
With his belly full, other needs take precedence.Â
It starts with him pressing his nose to the crown of your head, gliding it down to your temple and sucking in lungfuls of your scent the whole way, imbibing your scent. Spicy and musky; still pungent with sweat from the night before since you havenât had a chance to shower yet, nothing to distract from your true scent. It makes his cock throb against his thigh.Â
He drags his nose down your temple to your cheek, nuzzling against the side of your head. Rumbling when you go still, turning your head away from him when he tries to go for your lips, denying him again.
It agitates him.Â
âKiss me,â John growls. Demanding, not asking.Â
He pinches your cheeks with his grip and twists your head towards him. The little resistance you offer flickers briefly before being snuffed out when he slots his lips against yours.Â
What starts soft turns feverish in a matter of moments. Lips gliding and tongues twisting; the bridge of his nose pressed uncomfortably against yours, the whole kiss a mess of ache and teeth and hungry, greedy need. Spittle drips down your chin and you whine into his mouth when his beard scratches at the sensitive skin around your mouth.Â
Need prickles at the base of his spine. For days now, heâs kept his hunger contained when all it wanted was to run rampant. Heâs been so good to youâgiven you days to ready yourself for what was inevitably to come. He never tried to conceal the reason behind his presence in your house. Â
And now itâs all coming to a head.
John slides you off his lap and down onto the floor under the table, planting his feet on the ground and lifting his hips to pull his sweats down, letting his cock flop out against his belly, heavy with blood.Â
âJohn, do I have toâŠ?â you whimper, trailing off like even saying it out loud might jinx you.Â
âWant your mouth on my knot,â he says bluntly.Â
Your eyes are sparkly with tears when he looks down, big and wide and helpless and it somehow just makes him even harder. When you sniffle, a bead of precum dribbles down his shaft.Â
âGet it nice and wet,â John grunts, pushing your face into his dick. âItâs going inside you soon enough.â
âPleaseââ you whisper.
âIt can go in dry too,â he warns.Â
Your tongue pokes out of your mouth reluctantly, face all scrunched up and petulant, but eventually you do as youâre told. Shy, kittenish licks around the base of his cock, right over his knot. Lazy pleasure ripples up his spine, each drag of your tongue over his soft knot making his vision go blurry and his breath get heavier. Practically panting by the time you kiss a particularly sensitive spot on the underside of his knot.
âMy handâs getting tired, sweetheartâmind taking over?âÂ
He doesnât wait for you to answer, letting go of his cock so that it droops, batting your nose on the way down. The affronted look on your face nearly makes him snort.Â
Your fingers curl around his cock, lifting it up. It looks brutish in your hand, ruddy and thick, precum leaking from the flushed head and dripping onto your head. If he were a decent man, heâd peel your hand off his cock and replace it with his own, get himself off with a rough, dirty tug instead of leaving that responsibility to you. Spoil you instead with gentle love making, all sweet talk and slow thrusts, decadent, languid kisses pulling your attention away from where it hurts.
But John isnât a decent man. Not even a good man.Â
He lets you lick and kiss it all over until his knot is wet with spit. Every so often your teeth graze his knot, forcing a violent shudder up his spine, and he snarls down at you, teeth bared to get the message across. Donât push too far.Â
Heâs indulgent to a point.Â
âSuck it too,â he rasps. The hand on the back of your head tightens, angling your face until your lips are stretched around his rapidly filling knot and you have no choice but to gently suck the puffed skin of his knot, your nose pressed against the thatch of hair at the base of his cock.Â
His cock aches the longer you kneel there mouthing at his knot. Itâd be nice to paint your face with cumâyour tongue to start and then your cheeks and chin. A little on your forehead too just to mark you as his. Heâs close enough to the edge that it wouldnât take more than a few well-placed sucks, but his knot is already big enough. Any more and he wonât be able to fit it in you at all, at least not for another hour or so. Â
He clamps his hand around the back of your neck and pulls you off, a string of spit still connecting your lips to his knot. âThatâs enough.â
You frown, bottom lip jutting out. âYou didnât like it?â
That soothes the tension in his shoulders a little, makes his lips twitch under his mustache.Â
ââCourse I liked it, sweetheart.â The weeping tip of his cock is enough evidence of that.Â
âWhyâwhyâd you stop me then?â
âIâm gonna come soon, honey, and Iâd like the first time to be inside you.â
Your eyes go wide. âOh.â
Itâs a challenge getting you onto your hands and knees after that, divesting you of your clothes too. He very nearly has to wrestle you down to the ground, but exerting even the slightest amount of force makes you instantly acquiesce, likely realizing that you wonât stand a chance fighting him. He shushes you when you choke back a sob, kissing the back of your neck soothingly.Â
At least, he hopes it soothes you.Â
John runs a hand over your rump and between your legs, finding your center damp and hot to the touch.Â
âWell, thatâs a bit more inviting,â he says approvingly. âBeen wet this whole time, sweetheart?â
You shake your head desperately, shoulders hitching with your quiet sobs. When he dips two fingers into your hole though, itâs soaked. Squelches when he pulls his fingers out and thrusts them back in.Â
If he didnât have more pressing concerns, heâd be tempted to turn over onto his back and tug you down onto his face. That thought lingers for a moment and then takes root.Â
âHold on, loveâgotta do this first.â
The mattress springs back when he drops down onto his back. Your back arches when John grabs you by the hips and drags you over his mouth, your knees planted on either side of his head, one higher up than the other from being dragged down the bed.Â
âWait, you never saidââÂ
The crack across your ass interrupts you. He flexes his hand and then palms that same ass cheek, rubbing over the hurt. If you swear at him, it doesnât register because his eyes are locked on the slice of heaven between your thighs, transfixed by your dew-slicked lips parting for his gaze. Â
âThatâs better,â John murmurs, then digs his fingers into your hips and pulls you down onto his face.Â
The smell of your sex is drugging, mind-numbing. Musky and warm and fragrant. The hood of your clit is drawn back to expose the swollen bud and it calls to his tongue, a call which he answers in kind, gliding the flat of his tongue over it and smiling to himself when it twitches.Â
It satisfies every carnal urge breathing fire and brimstone in the back of his mind. His tongue saws up the seam of your cunt, parting the soft, delicate petals before drawing one into his mouth, humming around the mouthful. The vibrations must feel good because your whole body jolts in his arms.Â
When he sucks your clit into his mouth, you nearly wrench yourself right off his face, hands clawing at the bedsheets. Firm hands dig into the flesh of your backside and pull you back down though.Â
âMmâŠyou gonna cum, sweetheart?â he rumbles into your pussy, his words muffled.Â
âIâIâm gonnaâohâŠohâŠââÂ
Music to his ears. He can tell itâs right around the corner when your breathing goes staccato and your thighs squeeze around his head, forcing him to move one of his hands to keep your legs spread. He can feel your hole clench around his tongue, hips jerking sharply.Â
He loves watching a pretty girl come. Loves feeling it on his tongue even more. It doesnât take much to work you up to it either, likely on a hair trigger since he bolted the doors to your house shut and made himself at home.Â
Your upper body collapses onto the bed when you come, hips undulating over his tongue subconsciously, like you canât help but chase your release. And who is he to deny you when youâve been such a sweet girl?Â
John scoots down the bed to slide out from under you and sits up, wiping the back of his hand across his mouth, smearing your juices from his mouth to his cheek, drops clinging to the bristles of his beard. Trapped there, heâll smell it for days.Â
Good. Better for him if he can.Â
Taking his place behind you again, he reaches down between his legs and lines his cock up with one hand, the other holding your hip steady before pressing in one inch at a time, a smooth, slow glide to the halfway mark. You squeeze him like a vice, pussy all clenched up like a fist, too wound up and stressed to relax enough to take him to the root. Even coming has barely loosened you up.Â
He topples over you until his chest is pressed to your back. The skin on your back is sticky with sweat, a tremor running through you and making you shake.Â
âEasy, sweetheart,â John murmurs into the side of your head, planting a kiss there for good measure. The skin over your knuckles pulls tight when you fist the sheet beneath you. âCan you relax for me?â
âN-no?â Itâs said like a question, like youâre looking to him for reassurance, like you need your alpha to help you relax, to loosen you up.Â
Itâs why he feels no guilt for the situation that youâre in. Trapped under your alpha, about to take his dick to the root. What would you have done if he hadnât been around to take you home? Any matter of tragedy could have befallen you.Â
âIâve got you.â Talking both to you and himself.Â
Thereâs nowhere for you to go but further up the bed when John forces the rest of his cock into you, gaining more ground with every thrust. Thatâs how soldiers make strides in new land, conquering new territory with every advance. Rigor and momentum.Â
The flesh of your ass ripples with every thrust, hips clapping against your cheeks. He drives into you with a single minded intensity, grunting through each thrust. Reason falls to the wayside. All that matters is knotting and breeding the omega under him.Â
Your cries echo through the bedroom in bright, clean bursts.Â
He feels virile, potent; itâs his alpha running hot in his veins and his body thick with muscle and the way you all but disappear underneath him, just a sweet and soft omega for him to use and breed. Back arched just enough to let him sink in as deep as he can get.Â
âJohnââ you wheeze. âT-too deep. Itâsâunf, itâs, ahâŠitâs too deep.â
âFull, honey?â he grunts.Â
âY-yeah,â you respond, whimpering through the word.Â
âI know, baby,â he says consolingly, contradicting his own sympathetic tone when his next stroke nudges against the seal of your womb. âNot very nice of me, is it?â
âNoooo,â you moan.
âYeah, not very nice.â His laugh is breathless, mean. âIâll make it up to you, I promise.â
Coherency is a luxury that slips from his fingers as quickly as it came. Like a shroud falling over him, it cuts him off from everything but what he touches. Even your mating gland is forgotten in his fervour, its siren song going mute against the backdrop of the blood pounding in his ears.Â
His knot pops quick. Half a dozen more thrusts in and he feels it thicken and swell until he suddenly canât pull out. It punches the breath out of him, making him bear down on you, trapping you both on his knot and under his weight.Â
âOhâohâohââ you gasp, overwhelmed.Â
He hooks his chin over your shoulder and plants his hands on top of yours, twining your fingers together, an intimacy so staggering that he can feel it thrum through your body, your frame trembling underneath him.Â
Knot thoroughly plugged inside of you, he can only grind his hips forward, nudging that same tender spot over and over until your pussy draws up nice and tight around him, dragged unwillingly to another orgasm. He sees stars when your channel squeezes around his cock, milking him for all heâs worth.Â
Overwhelmed, your heart rate spikes and your scent intensifies, permeating the room and lodging itself into the deepest recesses of his being. Your hands claw up the mattress, ripping the sheet off the left corner, and you yelp when you realize that you canât pull off his knot, truly trapped.
Johnâs hindbrain interprets your squirming as trying to get away and he reacts instinctively, forcing you down to the mattress until your arms collapse under you and pinning you there with his body.Â
âWhere dâya think youâre going?â he growls, mouth pressed to your ear.Â
You shudder, walls tensing up around his knot and making him spurt another wad of cum into you.Â
âOh god,â you whisper, grunting softly when he forces more of his weight onto you, the mattress depressing under your combined weight.Â
Sticky, tacky skin. Laboured breaths. Dark. Tunnel vision. Everything narrows to a single point. In the crook of your neck, your mating gland pulses. He presses his tongue to your neck and drags it through a trail of salty sweat.Â
The vice grip around his knot has him swimming in and out of consciousness, vicious instincts clawing up his throat. It thins the barrier between him and his alpha, one no longer distinct from the other.Â
âAre youâare you going to bite me?â you ask through panted breaths.Â
His alpha considers it. Thatâs what he is now, at least. Its consciousness has usurped his, or moulded with his, or risen to the ranks of human. It tilts its head through him though, two beasts sharing a body and an appetite.Â
It runs its tongue over its lips. He does the same.
âNot yet.â
Voracious.Â
No matter how many times he cums or makes you cum, itâs never enough.Â
He still has to rest though. Much to his consternation, the body demands it, so he falls asleep with you resting against his chest or under the crook of his arm with your fist curled over his belly, and wakes to the damp clutch of your centre pressed against his thigh from when you rolled over in the middle of the night. Then wakes you up by grinding your hips down against the hard line of his thigh, sweet talking you through an orgasm that leaves you thick-tongued and cross-eyed. Â
Days pass that way. Blunt fingers; rake of tongue. Skimming his mouth over the valley of your tits and down the channel between your legs, gorging himself on the slick dripping from your pulsing hole. Scraped a bit raw from his beard, so heâs careful now; spreads your folds with his fingers before thrusting his tongue all the way in.Â
He comes back to himself every now and then, some memories easier to recall than others:
Your cheek smushed against the shower wall, hands clawing at the tile while he drives into you from behind, rivulets of water running down your body.Â
The feeling of your throat flexing around his shaft, your eyes watering when your nose nearly grazes his pubes. Pulling you off his cock to let you breathe and leaning down to press his forehead to yours.Â
Pinching your cheeks to open your mouth after cumming in order to watch it melt on your tongue.Â
Indulging in kisses messier than sex itself, lips going swollen and numb, eyes so masted that theyâre barely even open. Each glide of your lips liquid and svelte.Â
Always wanting more and more and more.Â
Heavy footsteps following you into the kitchen as you scurry around looking for something to eat, wary glances thrown over your shoulder to keep track of him. Always keeping him in your line of sight. Smart girl; clever enough to know not to turn your back to a predator.Â
Occasionally, he loses track of you as a person again, thinking of you like an extension of himself instead. Your name disappears into the recesses of his mind, replaced by concepts like omega, mine, pupâ
You cover his mouth with your hands to muffle his words and he bites your fingers one by one until you pull them away.Â
And it keepsâ
going and going and going and going
âthoughts shaking loose from his head, one by one; hours disappearing into thin air, nothing real except the omega on the end of his knot. When it whimpers, his chest puffs out and his breathing goes laboured, his only concrete thought to fill it with more of his cum, make sure that it takes.Â
It will, if John gets his way.Â
And he always does.
Another season over, this one different from the rest.Â
Youâre still in bed when he surfaces from his rut, low back cracking and popping when he sits up. His muscles will ache for days after this, the aftermath of any good rut lingering in the body longer than the rut itself.Â
John scrubs a hand down his face and cracks his jaw open for a good yawn, stretching everything out. When he looks down by his side, he finds you curled into yourself, cheek resting against the back of your hand, sleeping soundly.
Youâre so tuckered out that your toes donât twitch even when he drags his finger down the line of your back, stopping at your sacrum. The slope of your ass underneath the bed sheet is tempting, inviting him to part your legs and settle himself between them again, but heâs put you through enough over the past few days.Â
Later, heâll want to check between your legs and see how much of his cum is still painted between your thighs. Either way, heâll have to run you a bath with Epsom salt for you to soak in.Â
Thatâll have to wait until after breakfast though.
Right on cue though, his stomach growls. No amount of preparation for a rut is ever enoughânot once has he ever come out of one feeling refreshed. Itâs always aching joints and empty stomachs and bruises where bruises usually shouldnât be. His age only makes it all the more noticeable.Â
His future ruts wonât always be this way. Not when his hormones are tempered by his omegaâs corresponding heat. In the future, proximity and cohabitation will align your heat and his rut cycles, making the whole ordeal far more pleasant. One to stabilize the other. Youâll put in for leave at the same time and slip into it quietly, like slipping into a gentle, welcoming stream.Â
Thatâs a thought for another time though. For now, John pulls himself out of bed and saunters towards the bathroom, intent on running a quick shower before fixing himself something to eat.Â
He takes a brisk shower under cold water, scrubbing his chest and letting the soap run down his legs for no longer than ten minutes before shutting off the water. Itâs a shame that it washes your scent off of him, but heâll rectify that later when youâre up. Â
The smell of bacon frying in the pan permeates the kitchen, the sound of it as emblematic of morning time as birds singing in the trees or the soft sound of the radio on in another room. A cool breeze spills in through the cracked open window.Â
Itâs nearly time, but not quite.Â
He waited because he wanted this to be deliberate. Intentional, as everything he does always is.Â
It wouldnât have been as meaningful in the throes of his rut. Easily chalked up to instinct or error, rather than seen as intended from the very beginning.Â
An hour or so later, you start to stir. Though his instincts arenât as sharp as they were in the midst of his rut, he can still hear the bed creak in the other room.Â
The bedroom is bathed in light when he returns. In the center of the bed, youâve turned over onto your back, the light cascading over you making you look almost angelic. His heart throbs in his chest.Â
One day, he might even love you.Â
âYou awake?â John asks, resting his knee against the edge of the bed and slowly climbing over you. When you blink a couple times and nod, he leans down to draw you into a slow, drugging kiss.Â
The taste of your mouth is familiar now; heâs tasted it so many times over the past few days that itâs etched into his memory now.Â
âHm? Yeah,â you sigh, then meet his eyes. You must register something there because you pause, squinting up at him. âAre you⊠Is it over?â
John nods. Itâs easier to just say yes than qualify that the rut hormones havenât fully left his system yet, still present though in much smaller quantities. Heâll still be quick to anger for the next few days, in no shape to return to work just yet, but eventually his system will flush those lingering traces of rut and heâll be back to his normal self.Â
You smile, relieved. âOkayâŠthat's uh, thatâs good. Do youâŠdo you mind if I rest a bit longer before I leave?â
ââCourse, sweetheart.â
He palms the side of your face, brushing the wispy baby hairs out of the way. All his life and heâs never seen something prettier than you.Â
âIn fact,â John murmurs, canines aching when he runs his tongue over them. âYou can stay as long as youâd like.â
You must catch the double meaning in his words because your eyes go sharp. âHuh?â
His eyes flicker down to your neck and it hits you like a battering ram.Â
Itâs too late though. He gathers your wrists in his palm when you try to bat at his face, immediately going into struggle mode, and pins them down over your head with ease. With his other hand, he holds you by the neck and turns your head to one side, exposing the delicate skin of your neck.Â
âJohnâwait, no, noâwaitwaitwait, pleaseâyou saidââ
Legs kicking out, back nearly arching off the bed, you put every last bit of your fight into trying to throw him off, only for him to force you back down, barely a grunt passing his lips. Then he ducks his head into the crook of your neck.
âJohnâJohn, please!â
John bites down.Â
Under his teeth, your gland splits.Â
The moment of connection is just as divine as he imagined. When your gland breaks under his teeth and your blood oxidizes in his mouth, his world reconfigures itself around this new reality, one where you flow through his veins like blood and swim through his mind like thought.Â
He sees now what he missed before. All this time, heâs assumed that fate has railed against him, intent on him remaining alone.Â
What he understands now is thatâ
(you whimper under him and arch up into his body, saliva gurgling in your throat)
âfate has always been on his side.Â
After Ragnarok, the earth will once again bob out of the saltwater, dregs of ancestral seafoam lapping at the sides.
(he gnaws at the Yggdrasilâs roots)
In this life, nothing has ever been handed to him because he has needed to fight for it. Of course fate would have taken that into consideration when creating his mate. Baptism by fire. He never wouldâve been satisfied with simply being handed his intended mate. He needed to leave the imprint of himself like chiselling into stone. Maker of his own fate. Â
When he pulls back, teeth unlatching from your shoulder and blood leaking from the wound, you stare up at him through misty, filmy eyes, tears scorching hot lines down your cheeks.Â
He can appreciate the shock this must come as. You thought youâd get off scot-free after allâjust a few days of being fucked and knotted and then sent on your wayânot kept like bounty from a sacked city. You are a prize though. His hard earned prize.Â
His moral compass doesnât allow him to see this as a pillaging. Not when his actions are led by his heart.
You raise a shaky hand to cover the wound on your shoulder, wincing when your fingers brush the raw skin there, coming back saturated in blood. âYouâyou bit me.âÂ
John hums. âItâs alright, sweetheart; itâs over now. Nothing to worry about anymore.â
âYou saidâyou promised you wouldnât,â you bleat.Â
He shakes his head, voice still soft when he responds. âNever said I wouldnât, sweetheart.â
âYou said youâd leave. You promised youâd leave.â
âAw, honey, you wouldnât do that to an old man, would you?â He lies down beside you, pulling on your heartstrings like a marionette. Plenty have called him a decent soldier, but no one has ever called him a good person. âWhy make me leave when you could have someone in your corner instead?â
Tears like diamonds on your cheeks. Youâre the most beautiful creature that John has ever laid eyes on; thereâs no wonder why he had to make you his. Had he turned around in that hospital and walked out that door after hearing your voice, life would have been less complicated but it would have been dull, colourless. He would have woken up today with his mind at ease, but his heart would have been empty.Â
Now thoughâ
âWeâll be good for each other,â John says, moving his hand over your throat, loose fingers simply resting there. Just enough to feel the thrum of your pulse under his palm. âIâll prove it to you.â
He feels you swallow beneath his palm. It is easy to see why you might doubt his words.
But in the back of his mind, his alpha purrs, satisfied for once in its life, and when he tightens his fingers around your throat, you go still, all of your trust gathering there in the palm of his hand. He can live with that.
So long as he has you, he can live with anything.

Possessive
how the overlords would put a claim on you
ÊâąÌ«ÍĄâąÊâąÌ«ÍĄâąÊâąÌ«ÍĄâąÊâąÌ«ÍĄâąÊâąÌ«ÍĄâąÊâąÌ«ÍĄâąÊâąÌ«ÍĄâąÊâąÌ«ÍĄâąÊâąÌ«ÍĄâąÊâąÌ«ÍĄâąÊâąÌ«ÍĄâąÊâąÌ«ÍĄâąÊ
Ëâ§ââ Carmilla Carmine ââșËłâ§àŒ
As much as she loves spending her mornings in bed with you, wishfully thinking she could stay there all day, she can only give you 3 more minutes at best. Being an Overlord and a CEO keeps her rather busy. Youâre grown, you can handle yourself (you have to in this world) sheâs not keeping tabs on your whereabouts. Carmilla isnât itching for a fight like these new âup and comersâ. Giving you something to protect you when sheâs not around simultaneously puts a target on your back. A simple ring with her name inscribed would suffice, satisfying any possessive vices she may or may not have
Ëâ§ââ Zestial ââșËłâ§àŒ
Abhorrent is jealousy, driving the younger generations to filth like, ugh, hickeys. Although, on a certain level he does understand. Being in Hell for as long as he has and alone the same amount, he knows all too well the primal need to claim what otherâs might steal. One must leave their mark as a warning sign for others. Zestialâs exceptionally charming when he wants something, notably not asking when he presents you with the crisply wrapped gifts. Thereâs no less than twenty. Boxes upon boxes of accessories and clothes that suit you but hold his color palette, spider and web details to boot. Heâs utterly thrilled when you wear them, showering you in compliments and declaring himself the luckiest soul in Hell
Ëâ§ââ Rosie ââșËłâ§àŒ
Goodness, have you seen how sinners nowadays go about the whole ordeal? What happened to romance!? Call her old fashioned, but Rosie likes a smidge of glamour in her techniques! Sheâll walk shoulder to shoulder with you, holding her parasail over the both of you. Sheâll accidentally press her painted lips on your cheek and forget, quickly getting swept up into conversation with someone or the other. Itâs fine, no one would question her! Not if they wanted to live anyways. Butterflies swarm her stomach when she notices you havenât wiped her imprint away, a proud smile spreading across her face. It becomes purposeful as the days go on
Ëâ§ââ Alastor ââșËłâ§àŒ
While happy to broadcast newsworthy exploits, sharing his private affairs with the world is out of the question. Of course the appeal of it all isnât lost on him, he merely doesnât see the point. Why broaden your horizons of potential dangers by claiming you publicly? To calm that unruly, covetous alien in the pit of his chest? Heâs not that selfish! Besides, nothing less than something permanent could truly satisfy him anyhow
Ëâ§ââ Valentino ââșËłâ§àŒ
If he doesnât have eyes on you, heâs working. Those measley hours apart wonât stop him from reminding all of Hell you still belong to him. He doesnât trust anyone down here. Heâll convince you itâs for your safety that he tightens the collar around your neck. With a hum of approval, Valâs long and slender fingers twist the tag with his name on it. Heart shaped, of course, he loves you after all!
Ëâ§ââ Vox ââșËłâ§àŒ
Only the insecure need to put a claim on their person. Thatâs not Vox, no way! Youâre never really out of his sights anyways, what with todayâs power of technology and all! The need to brand you goes a different route. He wants everyone to know youâre spoken for, pulling you on camera every chance he gets. He wants them to stare in awe and envy but cast their eyes down when you walk by in public. A slight on you would be a slight on him personally and no one messes with The Vees
Ëâ§ââ Velvette ââșËłâ§àŒ
Truthfully, there isnât much she wouldnât do. Youâre all over her Sinstagram and that says it all. Every runway show, every red carpet walk, every paparazzi shot youâre always beside her. Vel dresses you left and right to match her OOTD somehow. She snaps a pic every single day (sometimes more) to show her followers their favorite couple is thriving and stylish as always! The description never fails to scream how your all hers

They are upset because I left
Where they never included me.

The car moved slowly under the gray sky of Gotham, as if the universe itself understood the weight of the pain you carried in your small figure. Commissioner Gordon, with his firm hands on the wheel, cast furtive glances at the rearview mirror, where he saw you curled up in the back seat. Wrapped in an old blanket, the same one you had hugged for days, your face was hidden among the folds, but the silent tears that fell could not be disguised. There were no words that Gordon could offer to heal the recent wound of losing your mother, but his empathy, though silent, was there, wrapping around you like the coat that couldn't quite warm you.
In your lap, a small Batman doll rested, pressed against your chest, as if that fabric toy could protect you from the world that had just destroyed your innocence. Your eyes, still swollen and red, looked out the window without seeing, watching the city that seemed so distant, so foreign.
"You will be loved and cherished," Gordon whispered, breaking the silence that had weighed like fog in the car. "Bruce Wayne... he will take care of you, I promise."
But you didn't respond immediately. The name Wayne felt strange, distant, as if he spoke of someone living in a story, not in your reality. You looked up, your eyes meeting Gordonâs for a second in the rearview mirror.
"And if they don't want me...?" you murmured, insecurity clouding your childish voice. "I don't know them, Commissioner... and they don't know me. What if they leave me in an orphanage? Mama always told me those places aren't nice."
Gordon swallowed hard, understanding the depth of your fear. "You were just a child, but you had already learned that love was not a guarantee." The world had taught you that cruel lesson too soon.
"The Waynes..." he began, searching for the right words, "are good people. You might not understand it at first, but I assure you they have suffered too. Bruce..." he paused, recalling the losses that man had faced. "He understands what it is to lose someone. He will do everything he can to make you feel safe, to help you find a home again."
But you kept looking at the doll in your hands, your fingers squeezing it tightly, as if it were the only stable thing in a world crumbling around you.
The silence grew heavy, uncomfortable, as if the words wanted to come out but didnât know how. Again, Gordon spoke, his voice low, almost afraid to break the stillness.
"And/y/n... what was your mom like?" he asked softly, not taking his eyes off the road, as if by doing so, he could give you space to be honest, to not feel pressured.
You fell silent for a long moment, your small fingers nervously playing with the edges of the blanket. The world outside the car seemed a reflection of what you felt inside: cloudy, cold, distant.
Finally, you exhaled, as if gathering the courage to speak. Your voice came out shaky at first, filled with a mix of sadness and a hard-to-accept truth.
"My mom..." you murmured, not taking your eyes off the window. "She wasn't a good person, but... she wasn't a villain either."
Gordon nodded slowly, without interrupting you. He knew things were rarely black or white, that life had that cruel ability to mix the two.
"She... told me she grew up in an orphanage. She never had anything that was really hers." You paused, your eyes glassy as you recalled details that now seemed more painful than ever. "Well, except for me."
"Gordon felt a knot form in his throat." He knew that loss was a terrible burden to bear, but there was something more in your words, something suggesting that, amidst it all, there had also been love. An imperfect love, but real.
"She always dreamed of having a little house..." you continued, and for the first time, a faint smile appeared on your face, though it was tinged with melancholy. "A house with a garden, lots of Barbie dolls, and a little dog. She didn't need more. She just wanted something that was hers."
You stopped for a moment, as if the simple act of recalling those dreams your mother had hurt you. You knew she would never have them. That the world had been cruel to her, denying her even the small things she wished for so fervently.
"But... she never got it. We were always moving around, fleeing, searching for something better. And now... she doesnât even have that."
The car seemed to shrink, the air denser. Gordon felt a wave of compassion for that woman who, though perhaps not perfect, had dreamed of something so simple, so human, and yet had not achieved it.
"I'm so sorry, Y/n," he murmured.
"Commissioner, what if... what if I can't forget her?" you asked, almost in a whisper. "What if I can't stop thinking about Mom?"
The silence in the car became heavy, almost tangible. Gordon wanted to tell you that you didn't have to forget, that it was natural to carry that pain. But the words didn't come, and instead, only a long sigh escaped his lips.
"It's not about forgetting, Y/n," he finally said, his voice low but firm. "It's about moving forward, even though it hurts. Your mother would want you to find happiness again, even though it may not seem possible now. And Iâm sure Bruce will do everything in his power to help you."
The car turned onto the long, dark road leading to Wayne Manor. The trees formed a tunnel of shadows, as if the road were wrapped in the same mourning you carried within. The mansion, with its imposing grandeur, appeared in the distance, its walls as high as the secrets it held. "You were so small in the face of the immensity of this new life that awaited you."
"We're almost there," Gordon said softly, as he slowed down. "The wind outside whispered through the trees, like an echo of everything you had lost."
You didnât know it at that moment, but that house would be full of stories, some broken, others in the process of healing. And although you felt like a stranger in a strange land now, Gordon hoped that, one day, that place would become your refuge.
The car stopped in front of the enormous gates. Gordon looked at you one last time before getting out. In his eyes, you could see a mix of sadness and hope, an empathy that went beyond words.
"You are not alone, Y/n," he said, his voice now firmer. "You will never be alone again."
You remained silent, gazing at the mansion as you clung to the blanket and the Batman doll. The weight of the world still rested on your small shoulders, but for the first time, there might have been a glimmer of relief in knowing that someone, even if he was a strange and distant man, was waiting for you inside."
And in that moment, although you still felt the burning pain of your loss, a ray of hope began to break through the shadows of your heart.

Y/n was sitting in the BatCafĂ©, that corner of the city where the tables wobbled and conversations were woven into murmurs, as if the place knew how to keep secrets that even you wouldnât dare to share aloud. The walls, a mossy green, were filled with stories that no one had asked for. She looked at her lukewarm latte as one looks at a future that hasnât quite arrived, a liquid mockery evaporating before it could warm her hands. It had barely been a month since she left her family home, but she already felt that independence was more of a myth than a fulfilled dream. At first, the heroism of having thrown herself into the world had filled her with pride, but now reality lurked like a treacherous chill seeping through the cracks, and the fact that she was waiting for her potential roommate didnât help matters.
âWell, at least the rent will be cheaper,â she told herself, or rather to the coffee, as if the dark liquid could reply with something sensible.
Sharing an apartment was, for Y/n, the only way out. Her salary barely covered survival, but only if she fed on fresh air and broken dreams. And there she was, waiting for someone named Pamela Isley, who, according to the ad, didnât even seem to be from this planet. "I hope sheâs not one of those people with invisible cats," she thought. Of course, the alternatives werenât very promising: people who collected Batman figurines or guys who made friends with cockroaches in the kitchen. She had seen it all; after all, her apartment was in one of the most dangerous areas of Gotham, and she knew it all too well.
You were born in that area. One could say the neighborhood chose you before you had a chance to choose it. You didnât remember exactly which apartment; in that hive of broken windows and half-painted bricks, all the floors seemed like a blurry copy of the previous one, each with the same square footage and an air of silent resignation. In the end, it didnât matter, because in a way, everything was the same. Dust in the corners, worn tiles, cracks in the walls that seemed to form a map of some invisible and secret city, a place that only you could decipher if you stopped to observe long enough.
It was an unpretentious place, where people rarely smiled, but neither did they let themselves be trampled. There was something in the air, a kind of poorly disguised pride, as if every neighbor, every stray dog, knew that surviving there wasnât a matter of luck but of will. Heroes didnât exist in that corner of the world, but villains didnât dare impose their law without facing some gaze that, without saying anything, said it all. It was rough terrain, where kindness camouflaged behind growls and complaints, and malice grew tired before it could fully settle.
And yet, you loved it. It was absurd, but you loved it with that devotion reserved for things you donât choose, for roots that sink into your chest without asking for permission. The place was filled with memories you didnât ask for, stories you never wanted to hear but that seeped into your skin. Tales of people who vanished in alleyways, of broken promises around the corner, of loves that drowned in factory smoke. And yet, those same tales were like echoes that held you, reminding you that you were born there, in that half-hell where life was always a fight but never a complete defeat.
The clock in the BatCafĂ© struck six ten when the door opened. What happened next was hard to explain, like when you dream and you donât know if itâs the pillow or the universe holding you. Pamela Isley walked in, and it was as if the wind, that autumn wind that brings memories, had gently pushed her in. Y/n looked up, and the first thing she noticed was her hair, a red that was out of this world, more fire than pigment, more nature than dye. The roots tangled as if they were living branches, and for a moment, Y/n wondered if the sun had made a mistake and was shining only on her.
Pamela walked as if she had a pact with the earth. Her steps were slow but firm, as if her feet waited for the ground to respond before settling. She wore a jacket that was impossible to describe without sounding crazy: green vines and small buds peeking out, as if at any moment the plants would grow over her. "Where does this woman come from?" Y/n thought, feeling something beyond mere curiosity. There was something she couldnât deny, an attraction that felt unsettling, like those waves that, without warning, sweep you away when you think you can still touch the bottom.
Pamela approached the table with a calculated calm, a calm only nature or time can sculpt. And then she smiled. In that smile, Y/n felt something familiar yet strange, as if she were facing a younger version of her mother, but instead of being terrifying, it was comforting. What was happening?
âY/n L/n?â Pamela said, her voice reminiscent of the whisper of dry leaves underfoot.
âYes, thatâs me,â Y/n answered, trying to make her voice sound normal, even though everything inside her felt out of place.
Pamela sat down across from her, crossing her legs with an almost feline elegance. The BatCafé seemed to conspire around them; the air smelled of wet earth and freshly brewed coffee, a strange mix, like the combination of what was about to be born and what had already died.
âI didnât expect you to beâŠâ Y/n began, not knowing exactly how to finish the sentence. She wasnât even sure what she was expecting.
âStrange?â Pamela completed, with a playful smile that left Y/n with a sense of defeat and fascination in equal parts.
âSomething like that,â Y/n replied, looking at Pamelaâs hands. Her long, slender fingers were covered in small green spots, as if she had just planted a forest with her own hands. There was something almost magical about her, as if every part of her being was connected to the earth in a way that Y/n couldnât quite understand. And there, amid that confusion, was the fine thread of attraction.
Pamela let her gaze fall on her own latte, turning it between her hands as if it were about to reveal some hidden secret in the foam.
âSo, what do you do? I mean⊠aside from, you know⊠looking like you walked out of a Tim Burton movie,â Y/n said, attempting a bit of humor to ease the tension she felt in her stomach.
Pamela glanced at her and laughed softly, a laugh that felt like an unexpected breeze on a hot day.
âIâm⊠a caretaker. Of plants.â She paused, gauging Y/nâs reaction. âAnd other things.â
âOther things?â Y/n asked, intrigued but also amused by the way Pamela toyed with the mystery.
âYes, like people who donât know how to water a plant without drowning it,â she replied, arching an eyebrow mischievously.
The response made Y/n laugh, a laugh she hadnât expected, as if Pamela had found a way to touch something deep within her, something that hadnât bloomed in a long time. And without being able to help it, she felt drawn, not just by the way Pamela moved, spoke, or even by the air of mystery surrounding her, but because there was something more, something familiar, something that reminded her of her mother, but without the shadows of authority and judgment. It was like a wild, free version of what had once been security.
âSo⊠are you going to save my cactus or criticize it?â Y/n said, trying to sound casual while feeling that her heart had started playing a game of chess with her emotions.
Pamela smiled again, and this time it was a different smile, one that seemed to carry a promise.
âIt depends. Would you let me stay to try?â Pamela said, with a playful seriousness that left Y/n unsure whether the question was about the cactus or something much larger.
Y/n blinked, trying to process the phrase, but deep down she knew that any answer would sound awkward. Pamelaâs question hung in the air between them like a leaf falling slowly, right at the perfect point where it was neither entirely a joke nor completely serious. And there she was, caught in that space, wondering whether she should laugh or just blush.
âWell⊠you can try,â she finally said, trying to hide the warmth creeping up her face. âBut I canât promise the cactus will survive. Iâm something like⊠a serial plant killer... When I was younger, I had time to care for them as they deserved, with help from⊠from my father. But now work consumes me a lot, and the truth is Iâve neglected them too much⊠they must feel the same way I felt when⊠sorry, I talk too much about myself, donât I?â
Pamela raised an eyebrow, with a smile that seemed to say more than either of them dared to voice at that moment.
âOh, no, keep talking about yourself; Iâm used to it. I have very⊠eccentric friends, to be honest.â She leaned a bit closer, as if about to share a secret. âThough I prefer not to work under threats, so donât look at me like Iâm going to be your next plant murder victim. But I doubt a little scared bat can kill even a fly.â
Y/n laughed nervously, surprised at how easy Pamela made everything. She, who had always been clumsy with conversations and glances, felt like the words flowed with Pamela in a way she didnât quite understand but didnât want to question either.
â...Little Bat?â Y/n asked, with a clumsy and blushing smile as her fingers nervously toyed with the edge of her cup.
Pamela let out a low giggle, that laugh that always seemed to carry the sound of dry leaves being trampled in autumn. With a gentle gesture, she pointed to her clothes.
âIs it that obvious?â she said with a half-smile, raising a playful eyebrow as she leaned a little forward.
She wore a dark fur coat, enormous, with a wide fall that, under the dim light of the BatCafĂ©, seemed to have the precise shape of bat wings extending. The high, well-fitted black boots completed the image of a figure that seemed to have emerged from the very shadows. And for a moment, Y/n didnât know whether to laugh or get lost in that air of mystery that Pamela seemed to wear like a second coat.
âWellâŠâ Y/n diverted her gaze with a shy smile, âitâs not like youâre hiding it much.â
Pamela smiled with that touch of mischief that characterized her.
âDoes it bother you? Iâm sorry, itâs just⊠Iâve been fascinated by bats since I was little.â she asked, her voice low and slow, as if measuring every word, as if the world were a delicate plant that required to be touched with the tips of her fingers.
Y/n let out a small nervous laugh, feeling the heat rising to her cheeks again.
âNo, not at all. I think itâsâŠâ she hesitated for a second, searching for the right word, unsure how to avoid the obvious, âI think it suits you well.â
Pamela watched her for a moment, and then, with that look that always seemed to go beyond what words said, added:
âYouâre turning red, you know?â
Y/nâs eyes widened a bit more, surprised by Pamelaâs directness, but all she could do was laugh at herself.
âWell, itâs just that, Iâm not really used to⊠this.â
âThis?â Pamela repeated, raising an eyebrow. âSharing coffee with someone or bats?â
âBoth,â Y/n admitted, shrugging, which provoked another smile from Pamela. âI always wanted one as a pet⊠but I have a vegan little brother whoâs very⊠spooky⊠so Iâve always been afraid heâd steal it from me or accuse me of having exotic pets.â
Pamela settled into the chair, not taking her eyes off Y/n.
âBut youâll get used to it,â she paused, letting her words float calmly.
Y/n felt a shiver run down her spine, a mix of nerves and a spark of something she couldnât quite define. Pamelaâs dark coat and relaxed smile were a disconcerting yet strangely familiar contrast, as if they had always been there, waiting for her. And suddenly, all she could do was wonder how soon that would happen⊠getting used to it.
âAlthough I canât promise my apartment isnât⊠a battlefield,â Y/n said, trying to sound confident, but noticing the slight tremor in her voice.
Pamela looked at her intently for a moment, with that mix of flirtation and something deeper, something that seemed impossible to decipher completely. Then she relaxed in the chair, as if the game had just begun.
âA battlefield, huh?â she said, playing with the spoon of her coffee. âWell, I like challenges. And chaotic places have their own charm if you know where to look.â Pamela let the phrase slide smoothly, like someone throwing a stone into a lake and waiting for the ripples.
Y/n couldnât shake the feeling that every word Pamela spoke carried a double meaning, but far from making her feel uncomfortable, it sparked something akin to contained laughter, as if they were sharing a private joke that she was just beginning to access.
âDonât you have plants at home?â Pamela suddenly asked, as if the question had sprung from the foam of her coffee.
âWell, there are a couple of cacti⊠and a fern that I think hates me,â Y/n replied. âBut I always forget to water them. Or I overwater them. Seriously, itâs like plants come to me already doomed.â
Pamela smiled, one of those slow smiles that seem to grow little by little, like a sprout deciding when the perfect moment to emerge into the light is.
âItâs not just about water, Y/n,â she said, with that voice that seemed to carry the calm of the wind and the weight of centuries of nature. âPlants need attention. Patience. Sometimes they just want to know youâre there, even if you donât say anything.â She paused, letting Y/nâs gaze get lost in her eyes. âSometimes, like people.â
Y/n felt a little shiver. It wasnât what Pamela was saying, but how she was saying it. There was something in her voice that disarmed her, as if every word had been calculated to penetrate a defense that Y/n hadnât even realized she had up. And then, almost without thinking, she let slip a truth she rarely shared.
âIâm not very good with people.â The confession came out of her mouth before she could stop it. She said it without drama, almost as if she were talking about the weather. But something in Pamela changed, barely perceptible, like a leaf moving without the wind touching it.
âReally?â Pamela asked softly, but without an ounce of pity. Just curiosity.
Y/n looked down for a moment, fiddling with the edge of her cup, before daring to continue.
âI grew up in a huge house, but⊠empty. My father⊠well, he was busy with his things. Business, parties, the usual. Shrugging it off, wanting to downplay it, even though inside she knew it wasnât something that could easily fade away. Alfred, the butler, raised me. And yes, he was amazing. But it was always just him and no one else. Itâs not the same as having⊠friends.â
Pamela listened in silence, but not in that awkward way where people listen just to see how you respond afterward. No, there was something in her attention that enveloped Y/n, as if she were giving her space to bare herself without fear of being judged.
âYou never had friends,â Pamela asserted more than asked.
Y/n shook her head.
âUntil now,â Pamela said, with that same softness that seemed to have become her trademark, and something in Y/nâs chest stirred, as if she had just heard the most important thing in the world.
There was a moment of silence, but it wasnât uncomfortable. It was a silence that somehow connected them. And then Pamela broke the spell, with a mischievous smile that lit everything up again.
âSo⊠are you going to let me be your first friend, or would you rather keep killing plants?â
Y/n couldnât help the laugh that escaped her lips, a sincere and liberating laugh, as if something inside her had broken an invisible chain. After all, it was clear that Pamela wasnât just another person passing through her life. There was something different about her, something that made the air feel lighter, that made the future seem less uncertain.
âWell, if you can survive the cactusâŠâ Y/n said, leaving the sentence unfinished, but knowing Pamela would understand.
And then, for the first time in a long time, Y/n felt that everything might be okay. That maybe, just maybe, Pamela Isley wasnât just a roommate, but the first person in a long time with whom she could imagine a less lonely future. She was already caught in that web, and the worst, or perhaps the best part, was that she didnât care at all.

Bruce Wayne was sitting in the mansion's garden on a gray afternoon that seemed to drag memories along like the wind drags fallen leaves. In his hands, a cup of black coffee, still steaming, its strong and bitter aroma mingling with the scent of damp earth after the rain. In front of him, on a small wrought-iron table, rested a piece of dark chocolate cake topped with melting strawberry ice cream, forming a pink puddle around it. But he found no pleasure in the view. It was more of a bitter symbol of a routine he once believed unbreakable.
In the garden, where the wilted flowers swayed gently, a little girl flitted about with contagious energy, as if the chill of the afternoon did not exist for her. Her laughter, so innocent and pure, filled the air, breaking the sepulchral silence that seemed to reign in that old home for a moment. She wore a pink dress with small white dots, an 80s style that would have been charming in another time but now seemed out of place with the scene. Her patent leather shoes shone as she ran back and forth, chasing her dolls.
In her small hands, she held action figures, one of the Batman her father portrayed and another of the Joker, his eternal rival. The girl, no older than six, organized her battles with adorable seriousness. In a high-pitched, mischievous voice, she brought the characters to life, staging an epic duel between hero and villain.
âYou wonât defeat me this time, Batman!â she exclaimed, raising the Joker figure with a malevolent laugh.
âI will stop you! I always do...â she replied with her other hand, giving voice to Batman, but with a childlike touch that contrasted with the darkness of the character.
Bruce watched the scene with a mix of tenderness and pain. He knew she wasnât really there, that this vision was nothing more than a distant echo of what never was. Y/n, his little Y/n, had vanished months ago. And he⊠he had never given her the love she deserved, always wrapped in his own shadows, in his endless struggle to protect a city that never rested.
The air felt thick, heavy with nostalgia and regret. The girl continued to play, laughing, talking to her dolls, oblivious to the weight of the years, to the loss. And Bruce, although he knew it was an illusion, couldnât look away; he couldnât stop imagining what it would have been like to give her what he never knew how to offer. What it would have been like to see her grow, to laugh more, to run through those gardens with the carefree spirit only childhood allows.
Suddenly, the sound of soft footsteps interrupted the daydream. Alfred appeared at the garden entrance, always elegant, always with that air of discretion and understanding that only he possessed. He approached slowly, placing a hand on Bruceâs shoulder as if he understood the pain that kept him trapped in that scene.
âMr. Wayneâ he said in a low voice, filled with compassion, âitâs time to come back.â
Bruce closed his eyes for a moment, letting Alfredâs words seep into his consciousness. He knew what they meant. He knew that girl, in her 80s dress and her dolls, was nothing but an idealized memory, a distorted reflection of what never was. Because Y/n wasnât like that. She didnât like those old dresses; she had always preferred the fashion of the 2000s, with its vibrant colors and comfortable clothes. And she never enjoyed the chocolate cake now sitting in front of him. She liked carrot cake, simple and sweet, but he had never paid attention to those details when he still could.
How did he know those little details about his daughter? Bruce often wondered. It wasnât because he had learned them by being close, because proximity had been a luxury he never allowed himself. No, those small fragments of her life he had discovered in the album that Alfred kept with an almost reverential discretion. That album was more than just an object; it was a silent refuge where Alfred had archived what the big house, always filled with shadows and echoes of footsteps that never came, had refused to hold.
The day the children learned of the albumâs existence marked the beginning of a chaos he still remembered with a mix of exasperation and a contained smile. They had decided, like little conspirators, that treasure belonged to them. A kind of all-out battle had ensued in the mansion, something that over time acquired the quality of family legends.
Bruce, standing in the study, could still see the sparkle in Damianâs eyes, the intensity, the almost playful fury with which he had taken that assault as a personal mission. Damian, with his perpetual impatience, had been the fiercest of all. He vividly remembered how his youngest son had burst into the room wielding two katanas, with the cold precision of a millennia-old warrior, even though his hands were still too small to fully grasp the handles.
âItâs mine!â Damian shouted, with that mix of stubbornness and vulnerability that only the youngest possess, as if he could cut not only the air but the very uncomfortable silence that always floated between them.
âIt belongs to all of us, Damianâ Bruce had tried to intervene, with that authoritative voice that, curiously, never managed to control his own children as he did with the chaos of the city.
But Damian wasnât listening. For him, the album was not just an object; it was a relic, a bridge to something he felt but couldnât name. His sister Y/n, so distant in daily life, was closer in those pages than in any superficial conversation they had ever had. She was his sister, but not enough. He wanted those photos, those notes that Alfred had kept, he wanted to understand what it was about her that slipped away from him daily.
Bruce watched from the threshold, not really intervening. He let the chaos unfold, as if it were necessary. The children fought, but it wasnât just for the album. They fought for something deeper, a kind of silent reclamation of what they had never been able to have: time, connection, perhaps even love. Alfred, from a corner, merely smiled with that quiet wisdom, knowing that those battles of childish katanas, of shouts and disputes over photos and notes, were actually the way they tried to find each other in a house full of absences.
Bruce sighed, remembering. Alfred had always known more than he did, always understood those invisible things that Bruce, no matter how much he wanted to, could never quite grasp. And so it was that he himself, at the end of it all, also ended up snooping in that album, with a silent curiosity he would never admit. There, in those carefully tended pages, he found his daughter. Or at least, he found the idea of her, the pieces of a life he hadnât shared but that, somehow, had always been present in those photos, in those little notes that Alfred, more of a father than he was, had kept with such love.
âShe wonât come back, Alfred... I lost her... maybe forever... â Bruce murmured, his voice barely audible, as if admitting it aloud would make her absence more realââand I⊠I was never there for her as I should have been.â
The old butler sighed, his tired eyes filled with infinite patience.
âItâs never too late to remember, sir. Itâs never too late to honor her memory in the right way.â
Bruce opened his eyes, looking again at the scene, but this time more clearly. The girl had disappeared.
The wind blew gently through the Wayne mansion's garden, carrying away the murmur of the dry leaves. Bruce remained motionless, as if the weight of the years, of the mistakes, had turned him into another statue in that landscape. The aroma of coffee had dissipated, and the cake before him remained untouched. Y/nâs figure still floated in his mind, her laughter like a distant echo that wouldnât fade but also wouldnât console him.
Alfred, with the patience only a father at heart could have, stood by his side, his firm hand on Bruceâs shoulder, as if in that gesture he could transmit strength to face the pain that gnawed at him.
âMr. Wayneâ Alfred began, his voice soft but laden with meaning, âthe kids have gone looking for Y/n again.â
Bruce closed his eyes, allowing those words to sink into his consciousness. He knew all the Robins and Batgirls had been following leads, searching for answers in the darkest corners of Gotham, but the emptiness he felt remained overwhelming. They had failed so many times⊠what did another attempt matter? The city, always hungry for its heroes, seemed more a trap than a cause.
âIt doesnât matter anymore, Alfredâ Bruce replied, his voice rough, worn down by years of struggle. âNone of this will change what happened. Y/n⊠is gone.â
âWith all due respect, sir,â Alfred interjected, this time with a firmer tone, âY/n is still out there. And as long as thereâs a single chance to find her, you cannot allow yourself to give up.â
Silence stretched between them. Bruceâs gaze remained fixed on some point in the garden, lost in thought. But Alfred, with his usual insight, knew he needed more than empty words to awaken him.
âThereâs something else,â Alfred added, taking a breath, âa new figure appeared last night during a robbery in the East District. They call her Kerosene. The White Bat. She was seen taking out a group of assailants in seconds.â
Bruce didnât react. Kerosene. The city had always generated figures willing to fill the void he had left every time he stepped away, every time Gotham lost the light of its vigilante. But this time, he didnât feel the urgency to learn more. What did it matter? He repeated to himself. Gotham already had its heroes.
âI donât careâ he murmured, his voice empty, as cold as the air surrounding the gardenââLet others deal with Gotham. Kerosene, the Joker, or whoever⊠the city doesnât need me anymore.â
Alfred tightened his grip on Bruceâs shoulder, almost like a father refusing to see his son give up. He stepped forward, and this time his voice was lower but more incisive.
âThis isnât about Gotham, sir,â he said with an intensity Bruce hadnât expectedââItâs about Y/n.â
Bruce lifted his gaze, his eyes finally meeting Alfredâs, as if those words had ignited a spark within him.
âIf you donât want to protect this city, do it for her â Alfred continuedââBecause you will find her, sir. Iâm sure of it. And when you do⊠how would you want her to find you? Destroyed? Defeated? No. You need to be ready, you need to be strong, for her. Wherever she is, Y/n is still waiting for her father.â
Bruce felt the pain in his chest intensify, a constant reminder of his failure, but Alfred was right. Y/n was somewhere out there. Alive or not, it didnât matter. What mattered was that as long as he didnât find her, he couldnât give up.
âThe kids have done everything they can to find her,â Alfred said, softening his toneââTheyâre still at it. Every day they search for new leads, explore new corners of Gotham⊠but thereâs only one man who can put everything in order. Thereâs only one father who can bring her back.â
The air tensed between them, and for the first time in a long time, Bruce felt a slight tremor inside. He remembered the moment he decided to become Batman, driven by the guilt and pain of losing his parents. Now, that same guilt, that same pain, called to him again, but this time, it wasnât for Gotham. It was for Y/n. His daughter.
âTell me, Alfred, who is this Kerosene?â Bruce murmured, finally reacting to the information Alfred had given him.
âYes, sir. Her abilities are astonishing, according to reports. Agile, fast⊠but her true identity remains a mystery. Some say sheâs just another vigilante trying to fill the void you left. But the important thing is that she is acting with lethal precision.â
Bruce stood slowly, leaving the cup of coffee on the table, already cold and forgotten. He looked at the empty garden, but this time, with a new determination blooming in his chest.
âIf this Kerosene is connected⊠if thereâs any link to Y/n, I will find out,â he said, his voice firmer, closer to the one Alfred had known for so many yearsââAnd if not⊠then Iâll find her myself.â
Alfred nodded, a mix of relief and satisfaction reflected on his face. He had managed to awaken the man Gotham needed, but more than that, he had awakened the father Y/n deserved.
â Very well, sir,he replied with a slight smile, always the unwavering servantââThe Batcave is ready for your return.â
Bruce turned toward the mansion, but not before glancing once more at the garden, where Y/nâs figure, so real in his mind, faded like morning mist.
Wherever you are, I will find you.

Richard âDickâ Grayson knocked forcefully on the old apartment door, the echo resonating in the narrow hallway of the building, where dust gathered in the corners like forgotten memories and the lights flickered as if trying to perform one last dance before going out. Beside him, Barbara Gordon, the commissioner's daughter, crossed her arms, staring at the door with an intensity that could have splintered the wood.
Jason Todd, restless to his left, kept his gaze fixed on the doorknob, his body tense, as if each passing second brought him one step closer to breaking through that wooden barrier. Above, on the roof, Red Robin, The Spoiler, and Batgirl waited, shadows in a world that seemed to ignore their pounding hearts, ready to act.
âI donât know why we always have to deal with the worst specimens of humanity,â Barbara murmured, adjusting her coat as she shot a sidelong glance at Dick, who seemed to have a plan in mind.
âBecause weâre lucky,â Jason replied, sarcasm lacing his words, a crooked smile on his lips that didnât quite fit the situation. âAnd when I say âlucky,â I mean weâre carrying someone else's karma because we⊠are screwed.â
Dick knocked on the door again, this time with more force. The echo reverberated through the hallways, a declaration of intent.
âWe should break it down. You know itâs not going to open just from a gentle knock,â Jason said, stepping forward, his intention clear and palpable.
âCalm down, Jason. Not all problems are solved with violence,â Barbara retorted, though a part of her knew that idea faded every time they found themselves in a situation like this.
âSure, as if we have another option. Do you want me to schedule a tea date instead of kicking down the door?â Jason frowned, the tension palpable.
Finally, a sound came from behind the door. Chains, the metallic echo of locks being unlatched with a maddening slowness, as if someone on the other side knew that every second of wait was boiling the blood of the three standing before the door. At last, the door opened just enough to reveal a face: the landlord. A short man with small eyes and a slimy smile that seemed to ooze like dirty oil through his yellowed teeth.
âWhat do you want?â he asked in a thick voice, looking at Dick with suspicion, but his gaze soon dropped to Barbara, lingering unpleasantly on her figure, and then to Jason, who had already tensed the muscles in his jaw.
âWeâre looking for Y/n Wayne L/n,â Dick said, trying to maintain his composure, the heat of anger threatening to overflow. âWe know she lives here. And we know you know where she is.â
The man let out a laugh under his breath, a rusty squeak that resonated like a heavy joke.
âAh, the pretty girl⊠yeah, yeah. And who are you all, huh?â he asked, his slimy tone sending chills that seemed to crawl over Dick's skin.
âItâs none of your concern. We just want to know where she is,â Barbara said, her voice firm and resolute, although the tension in her body betrayed her impatience.
The landlord tilted his head, like a cat playing with its prey, and smiled with a disturbing mischief.
âWell, if you havenât found her in five months, maybe you donât want to know,â he said, letting the words drop like stones in a pond, creating ripples of discomfort.
âI warn you, this isnât a game,â Jason interjected, his voice low and dangerous. âDonât make me remind you what can happen when a man plays with fire.â
The man shrugged, trying to appear unconcerned, although the glint in his eyes betrayed him.
Jason's hand rested near his belt, right where he kept his gun, and although he hadnât drawn the weapon yet, the threat was clear.
The landlord noticed but instead of being scared, he wore a repugnant smile, like a predator that had just spotted a wounded prey. His gaze shifted back to Barbara, and then, without the slightest respect, murmured something that made Dickâs fists clench.
âAh, Y/n... yeah, I remember her. She came around when she had just turned eighteen. Good material, if you catch my drift. She looked innocent, but... those are the most interesting ones, right?â The man's gaze darkened, scanning Barbara again, as if evaluating merchandise.
âSay that again,â Jason growled, drawing his gun in a motion so quick that the landlord barely had time to blink before feeling the cold barrel pressed against his forehead. âAnd I swear Iâll blow your brains out right here.â
The words hung in the air, sharp, loaded with contempt and a lust that twisted like a snake inside him.
The man let out a cynical chuckle, relishing the moment.
âThe last time I saw pretty Y/n was a while back. I donât know what sheâs up to now, but I kept some pictures of her and her friend.â His tone was defiant, almost mocking.
Rage was bubbling in Jason. His fists were clenched, a deadly spark in his eyes.
âWhat did you say?â His voice trembled between anger and control, like a string about to snap.
The landlord, feeling invincible, continued. âI donât know if theyâre lesbians, but seeing them together was quite the spectacle. Both of them were hot, you know?â
Jason could no longer hold back. The anger erupted like a volcano.
âShut up!â he shouted, and the sound echoed like a gunshot in the tense silence that had invaded the room.
Before the landlord could react, Jason pulled his gun, aiming with precision.
âIâm going to give you one chance. Tell me where Y/n is. Now.â
The manâs laughter faded, his eyes widening in shock. âWait, wait, thereâs no need toâŠâ
âWHERE?!â Jason's voice thundered, firm and filled with rage, like a storm rumbling in the atmosphere.
The tension became palpable, the air thick with promises of violence.
âAlright, alright!â the landlord stammered, but Jasonâs voice turned even colder.
âIâm not going to ask again.â
âShe just left for work at night and thatâs itâŠâ he started to say, but Jason could no longer hear. The man had photos of Y/n. Compromising, crude, and that simple mention ignited hell in his chest.
In an instant, the sound of an explosion resonated in the hallway, and the man fell to the ground, his silly smile erased by the terror that had overtaken his face. Blood gushed forth in a dark torrent, staining the floor and nearby walls.
Barbara covered her mouth in shock, while Dick stood frozen, stunned.
âJason!â she exclaimed, but the image of the landlord lying on the ground with his vacant stare was etched in her mind.
Jason holstered the weapon, his breath rapid and uncontrolled. He had crossed a line, and in that moment, he realized there was no turning back. Anger had found a way to break free, but at a terrible cost.
âI wonât let anyone hurt Y/n again,â he murmured, his eyes filled with determination. No one else would stand in his way to find her, no matter the price he had to pay.
The room was saturated with the echo of the gunshot, and the silence grew heavy, almost palpable. Barbara took a deep breath, the anger sparking in her eyes as she looked at Jason, who still seemed dazed by the act he had committed.
âWhat the hell were you thinking?â she said, her voice contained but sharp as a blade. âThatâs why we didnât bring Damian along, because he would have gone off just the same, but in a much more reckless way.â Her gaze fixed on the corpse, lying in a pool of blood, a scene that could have come from the mind of a disturbed artist.
Jason, with his chest heaving and jaw clenched, simply shrugged.
âI couldnât just stand by. He knew something, and I wasnât about to let it slip away.â The fervor in his voice didnât hide the confusion that was beginning to seep in, like the cold of the night creeping through the windows.
Barbara didnât respond, but the silence that filled the room grew even denser when the others entered, alarmed by the gunshot. Tim, Stephanie, and Cass arrived, their expressions filled with concern that quickly transformed into indignation.
âWhat happened here?â Tim asked, his eyes widening at the scene. Blood slid across the floor like a dark river, and the landlordâs body faded beneath the flickering light.
âAre you crazy, Jason?!â Steph exclaimed, disbelief palpable in her voice.
Cass crouched down, her expression grave as she looked at the fallen man. She didnât need to speak to convey her disapproval; every glance said more than a thousand words.
âIt doesnât matter how we got here,â Dick intervened, his authoritative tone trying to restore order. âWe need answers. Letâs investigate.â
With a determined movement, Barbara approached the body, while Jason still breathed irregularly, as if the weight of his actions began to settle on him. Barbara looked around; the apartment was a dusty and sad place, filled with shadows that seemed to whisper secrets.
As the others searched, Tim found a series of photos pinned to the walls, each one showing Y/n and other women from the area, frozen laughter in time, trapped between moments that should have been happy. However, there was something unsettling about the way they were arranged, a disorder that seemed a declaration of possession.
âLook at this,â Tim said, pointing to the images. There was Y/n, always smiling, but next to her was a figure that couldnât be ignored. The silhouette of Pamela Isley, better known as Poison Ivy, stood beside her, her red hair like a fire that seemed to consume the sadness of the place.
âPamelaâŠâ Cass murmured, her voice almost a whisper. âSheâs been in Arkham for three months.â
Barbara moved closer, examining the photos more closely. âThis is more complicated than we thought. Ivy has been involved, and that changes everything.â
Jason, still trying to comprehend the chaos he had unleashed, ran a hand through his hair. âIt doesnât matter. Weâll find Y/n. I donât care what I have to do.â
Barbara looked at him, her expression one of challenge but also understanding. âWe canât do this recklessly. We have to be smart. Silent.â
The group nodded, realizing that the road ahead would be filled with dangers, but also promises of redemption. They were all willing to kill for Y/n, but they had to do it quietly, like shadows slipping through the streets at night.
âListen, weâre going to find her,â Dick said, his voice resonating like a mantra. âNo matter how many doors we have to break down, how many truths we have to drag into the light.â
And so, in the echo of the silence that followed the violence, the five united in a tacit pact, intertwining their destinies in the search for Y/n. Each lost in their thoughts, each remembering that shadows sometimes have the power to conceal not only secrets but also the light that clings to hope.
The shadows stretched as they moved away from the apartment, leaving behind the vestige of a dead man and the echo of trapped laughter. The search had begun, and Y/nâs fate hung in the balance, a thread of light in the darkness that promised to bloom amid the ruins of despair.
The city lights flickered in the distance, like lost stars in the asphalt.

The tears of Y/n fell onto the slippery ground, forming puddles that blended with the blood, a dark ruby staining every part of her thin body, as if sins were being tattooed onto her skin. The humidity of the place smelled of iron and fear, of broken promises and a destiny she had chosen but didnât quite know how to accept.
âIt doesnât feel good, little one?â said the Doctor, his voice a bitter whisper echoing off the damp walls of the room. He, with his dirty blonde hair falling messily over his forehead, wore a white coat that looked more like a rag than a symbol of authority. A cynical smile spread across his lips, revealing teeth that seemed sharper than the fate he had designed for her. âBathing in the blood of enemies, isnât it an exquisite pleasure?â
Y/n, her gaze lost at a point on the floor, nodded slowly, as if each movement cost her an eternity. The blood, warm and sticky, slid between her fingers, a sensory experience that drowned her in contradictions. On one hand, there was a dark delight in the power that image conferred upon her, a power she had learned to wield. But on the other hand, there was an abyss of pain threatening to consume her.
âItâsâŠâ she whispered, barely able to form words. Her voice trembled like a leaf in autumn, indecision etched in her features. Guilt suffocated her, and each tear that fell was a reminder of what she had lost, of what she had left behind.
âWhat is it?â asked the Doctor, leaning toward her, his eyes lit by a glow that was not exactly compassion, but rather a cruel satisfaction. His gaze seemed to pierce through the layers of her being, scrutinizing the dark corners of her soul. âIs it pleasure you feel, or is it fear?â
Y/n recoiled, feeling her skin burn under his gaze. The Doctorâs words tangled in her mind, forming a knot that seemed impossible to untie. Her voice, almost a cry for help, resonated in the air.
âI donât know! I donât know if itâs pleasure or pain.â The words shot out like arrows, but only managed to embed their tips in the empty air, finding no destination. She trembled, caught between repulsion and the desire to free herself from the invisible chains that kept her anchored in that place.
The Doctor let out a cold laugh, as if he were enjoying the spectacle unfolding before him. With a careless gesture, he threw another bucket of blood onto the floor, creating a small puddle that slid toward Y/n.
âThat is the beauty of your situation, my dear. You have been chosen to cleanse Gotham of the scum, and along the way, you will discover that pain and pleasure are two sides of the same coin.â
âChosen?â replied Y/n, her voice shaking with the fierce mix of disbelief and rage. âChosen for what? To be your puppet?â
The Doctor stepped closer, letting the distance between them fade. His presence was oppressive, like a shadow that swallowed light.
âYou are not a puppet, Keroseneâ he said, pronouncing her name as if caressing it. âYou are the spark that can ignite the revolution. The tears that fall now are the ashes of the old you, and itâs time you embrace what awaits you.â
Y/n felt the air grow dense, as if the Doctorâs words were trying to envelop her, to convince her. But there was a truth in his voice, an echo of what she had longed for deep within her being. Hadnât she been searching for purpose, a place to belong?
âNo⊠I donât want to be what youâve made me.â she said, though her voice sounded more hesitant than determined. It was as if reality slipped around her, like the slippery ground she stood on.
âOf course you do, Y/n.â He smiled, and there was something unsettling in that smile, something that made her feel she was on the brink of a revelation. âYour pain is the echo of the city, and you, little one, can be its savior.â
The Doctorâs words resonated in her mind, and Y/n felt herself teetering on the edge of the abyss, the possibility of becoming Kerosene, the force of vengeance and power. She fought against the idea, but there was a part of her that was beginning to awaken, to open like a flower in the desert.
âSo, what do I have to do?â she asked, finally facing the reality that surrounded her. The tears, instead of being a sign of weakness, now seemed a recognition of her new identity.
The Doctor looked at her with a mix of satisfaction and complicity, like a teacher who sees the spark of greatness in his student.
âFirst, you must accept that the past does not define your future. The blood that surrounds you is only the first step toward freedom. Become what you have always been. Your destiny is to burn, and in doing so, illuminate others.â
Y/n felt the weight of her decision slowly fading away. By accepting her destiny, she had found a new way to free herself, a purpose that shone like fire.
âThen I will do it.â she said, her voice now firm and resonant, as if she were finally embracing the darkness that had always dwelled within her. âI will be Kerosene.â
The Doctor smiled, and in that smile lay a world of possibilities. Together, they could shake the foundations of Gotham.
âThatâs right, my dear Kerosene.â He stepped back, allowing his figure to fade into the shadows..âAnd remember, every decision you make will be a step toward glory or toward downfall. The line is thin, and you are destined to cross it.â
âWhat about them?â Y/n asked, pointing to the shadows surrounding her, referring to the Waynes who remained silent in their luxurious prison of silence. âWhere is Batman?â
The Doctor paused, his gaze turning serious and contemplative.
âSince your appearance, the Waynes have become shadows of what they once were. Batman has vanished, as if fear has locked him in his own game. They donât want you to know the truth, and I wonder if, deep down, he fears what you are capable of.â
âFears?â repeated Y/n, incredulity splattering her voice like a rain of dead stars. âWhy?â
âBecause the truth is that there is no longer space for the good in this city.â The Doctor stepped closer, his tone low but filled with fervor. âSoon you will go after the Court of Owls. We will expose those monsters in the streets, as they deserve, and they will have no one to defend them. Not even their beloved bat.â
A chill ran down Y/n's spine. The idea of stepping out into the night, of facing the villains who had ravaged her city, filled her with a strange power. She remembered Pamela, laughing amidst the shadows, her voice like an echo urging her to fight.
âI will not be their puppet. I do not want to be a pawn in a bigger game.â The words erupted from her with the force of an approaching storm, and the vision of Pamela dancing among the flowers filled her with a sudden sweetness.
âYou will not be a pawn, Kerosene.â The Doctor smiled, and in his eyes was an air of admiration. âYou are the queen in this game. Your vengeance will not only bring down those villains, but it will also seek the man behind the mask of Batman. We need to end him.â
âEnd him?â The question hung in the air like a trembling whisper. Her heart stopped for an instant, remembering the nights spent with Batman, the unspoken words, the caresses of an absent father.
âYes. Because he, like them, has become a legend that needs to fall.â
Y/n felt the darkness looming over her, a shadow whispering promises of power and pain. But there was something more, a spark igniting within her, a fire burning with the strength of a new dawn.
âThen I will do it.â said Y/n, her voice resonating with a clarity that surprised her. âI will expose the Court of Owls and make my father see.â
The Doctor watched Y/n with palpable satisfaction, as if he had finally ignited a spark deep within her being. With a gesture of his hand, he made the invisible shackles that kept her trapped fade away. In that moment, a strange freedom slipped over her skin, a freedom laden with dark responsibility.
âCome, Kerosene.â he said, his voice now a hypnotic chant rising among the shadows. âThere is something you need to see.â
He led her through a labyrinth of damp hallways, each step resonating like an echo of past decisions. The walls seemed to whisper forgotten secrets, tales of those who had fallen into the abyss before her. As they advanced, the light of day faded, and the gloom became an accomplice to their thoughts.
Finally, they reached the balcony of the building, a place where time had stopped its march. The Doctor gently pushed Y/n toward the railing, forcing her to look out over the vast expanse of Gotham that stretched before them. The city was a canvas of flickering lights and deep shadows, a portrait of intertwined chaos and order.
âLook, little one.â the Doctor whispered, his voice wrapping around her like a veil of mystery. âThis is your city, a monster that feeds on the secrets you hold in your chest. The blood that stains your skin is a symbol of the struggle that lies ahead.â
Y/n leaned over the edge of the balcony, feeling the cold wind caress her bare skin. The city glimmered like a sea of dying stars, each light a story, each shadow a whisper of betrayal. The vision enveloped her, and for a moment, she felt like a spectator of her own destiny.
Her bare skin, still stained with blood, prickled at the chill of Gotham, a freezing breeze sneaking through the cracks of crumbling buildings, as if the city itself reminded her that she was alive, that darkness embraced her with its mantle of forgetfulness and despair. Each small contact of the air made her more aware of her vulnerability, and at the same time, of the power that blossomed from within her. It was a reminder that, amidst chaos, she was the spark of a new flame.
The puddles of blood that had stained her skin, silent witnesses to her transformation, shone like a dark ruby under the dim light of the moon. In that moment, each drop was an echo of past decisions, a symbol of the life she had left behind. And yet, in her mind, the Doctor's words echoed: âYou are the spark that can ignite the revolution.â The irony of her state wrapped her in a sweet and bitter confusion; deep down, her nakedness felt like a release.
The city stretched before her, a vast ocean of twinkling lights and lurking shadows. Gotham, in its complexity, seemed to breathe, a living being pulsing with stories of pain and longing. The streetlights flickered as if about to go out, and Y/n felt that each flicker was a whisper calling her, a reminder that she was destined to be part of something much larger than herself.
As she gazed at the horizon, her mind filled with images: the faces of those she had lost, those she had loved, and those she had to confront. Her heart wrestled between the desire for vengeance and the longing for redemption.
âWhat do you see?â asked the Doctor, his eyes shining with an unsettling intensity.
âI seeâŠâ Y/n began, but the words slipped away like sand through her fingers. The city was a labyrinth of emotions, a stage where pain and pleasure intertwined in a macabre dance. It was a reflection of her own internal struggle, her desire for vengeance and her yearning for redemption.
âI see a sea of shadows, a stage where illusions collapse like houses of cards.â she finally replied, her voice echoing. âEach light, a hope; each shadow, a whisper of unhappiness.â
âPerfect.â The Doctor smiled, his face illuminated by an almost fraternal satisfaction. âGotham is a mirror, and you are the light that can break the darkness. You must be able to see beyond what shines.â
The Doctorâs words resonated in her mind, tearing through the veil of confusion that enveloped her. In that instant, Y/n understood that every tear shed had fed the city, that every drop of blood on her hands was an echo of what she had lost. And yet, vengeance offered her a new purpose, a path into the unknown.
âThe city cries for change, for a fire to purify itâ she whispered, her voice gaining strength in the night breeze. âAnd I⊠I am that fire.â
âThatâs right, dear.â The Doctor nodded, a mix of pride and malice in his expression. âThe fire that will purify Gotham and, in its wake, consume everything that stands in your way.â
Y/n felt the air fill with electricity, a palpable current connecting her to the city, to its pain and desire. Deep within her, something began to change. She was no longer just a puppet; she was no longer merely the shadow of her past. She was Kerosene, the spark that would ignite the flame of change.
âBut, Doctor, what about those who love the darkness?â she asked, her voice now an echo of what she had learned. âWhat if they cling to their shadow?â
The Doctor stepped closer to her, his penetrating gaze filled with complicity.
âDarkness is a possessive lover, but there is always a price to pay. The truth is that they cannot hold onto it forever. And when the fire burns, only those ready to be reborn will be saved.â
Y/n felt a mixture of anguish and determination. The city before her became a symbol of her internal struggle, a stage where light and shadow intertwined in an eternal game. Every street, every building, every corner whispered her name in a song of warning and challenge.
âAnd when the fire consumes everything in its path, will there be anything left of me?â she asked, her voice trembling with the fragility of a leaf in the wind.
The Doctor smiled, a smile that seemed to mock the questions still dancing in her mind.
âPerhaps, dear Kerosene, you will find yourself in the act of burning. Or maybe, you will fade into the ash. That is the enigma of transformation: in the fire, death is merely the prelude to a new beginning.â
As she gazed at the city, Y/n felt her identity fragment and fuse, in an endless cycle of creation and destruction. The image of Gotham before her became a metaphor for the human soul, a reflection of the struggles everyone faced in the darkness. The city, with its chaos and its heartbreaking beauty, enveloped her like a hug.
With one last look at the flickering lights and lurking shadows, Y/n stepped back, a firm decision rising within her.
âThereâs no turning back nowâ she murmured, her voice an echo of her new reality. âI will be the fire that illuminates this eternal night.â
The Doctor, with a gesture of approval, retreated into the shadows, leaving her alone in her revelation. As the city spread before her, a mantle of mystery and power, Y/n knew that the true journey was just beginning. The line between fire and ash was thin, and in her chest burned the certainty that by crossing it, nothing would ever be the same.
âSo be it, Keroseneâ she said to herself as the wind enveloped her in secret whispers. âLet the fire speak in your name and let the night receive your lament.â
And looking at Gotham, she understood that, in the end, her destiny was not merely to be a spectator, but an unstoppable force, a storm that would unleash chaos. And so, with her heart beating to the rhythm of the city, she prepared to embrace her truth, her fire.
â
A/N â Here is the long-awaited third part of this series. Thank you for all the support and love you have given me. I decided to make this part longer (at the cost of not being able to include the last image :( ) so that you can enjoy it more.
I was reading your comments where you were asking if Y/n and the Doctor would have a romance (which horrifies me a bit :d, but it gave me an idea) or if he performed a lobotomy on her. Well, that will be answered in the next part or in a headcanon, whatever you ask me.
By the way, in the tag list, there are some users I couldn't add, sorry about that đ. I really appreciate your understanding and patience. Your enthusiasm keeps me motivated to keep creating and sharing these stories. I hope you find this installment engaging and that it brings you the excitement and emotions youâve come to expect from the series. Enjoy!
Don't hesitate to ask me anything if you want.

yandere! harpy who tries offering you his mating feather because he just loves you so much! he wants you to be his and what better way than to make you his mate?
he had met you a few months back after you got lost in the forest. his part of the forest of course. the harpy was a little confused by the appearance of some random human in the dead of the night. what were you doing here?
unfortunately he never found out. but that didn't matter. if you didn't wanna share that's totally fine. (you were passed out and couldn't talk)
he's worried that you might die if he let you be though, so he decided to watch over you while you fell asleep on the floor of his cave. aw, you're so cute! humans are adorable! you'd probably scream and try to get away from him when you woke up so he'll hide away.
....what he didn't expect was to get smothered by you...
"eh? what are you-"
"fluffy birdman."
"ahahah.... yeah..."
and just like that, a beautiful friendship was formed. and he found out that you were actually looking for the harpy (him). he was... flattered? embarrassed? a human was looking for him? why?
"cause birds are cool. and you're a bird so why not? also, i'm a researcher :3"
"um... ahaha..."
you came back to visit him again and again after that encounter. bearing gifts, talking to him, sharing about your life, asking about his life... the harpy was beginning to become a little more than just protective over you. you gave him gifts! surely this must be some sort of mating ritual for humans!
how could a bird like him distinguish between pure interest and love?
and you realized that too. unfortunately by the time you noticed his change in personality, it was too late.
"will you accept my mating feather?"
his big round eyes, plagued with obsession as his cheeks flush a beautiful red. you could only step back in horror as the harpy flashed a deceivingly innocent smile.
"sorry..."
silence filled the air as the harpy's smile dropped. ah. you rejected him?
"w-why? was my feather not pretty enough? should i pick another one?"
the harpy's chirps soon turned frantic as e grabs you by the arms and stares right into your very soul. why, why, why? weren't you interested in him? you're his mate aren't you? you love him!
no, someone must've tried to steal you away from him.
"is there someone else? someone tried to take my mate from me?"
you could only let out a shaky whimper as you stared at how his expression did a 180. no longer was he smiling or staring at you like a lovesick fool. no, now he was... looking right into your very being like you belonged to him.
"must be some other human... no worries, i'll just keep you with me. you should be with me anyway. my mate."
oops. looks like you fucked with the wrong bird.

Yandere Batfam - Soulmate Soul Animal Au.
Chapter 6:
Summary: After being ambushed previously in Gotham's streets, you awake alone and afraid, in a strange building.
Chapter 1. Chapter 2. Chapter 3. Chapter 4. Chapter 5. Chapter 7.
----
A furious pounding beat at your skull, a liquid of some kind dripped down from your head. You blinked your eyes open, greeted by what could only be some kind of warehouse.
You were in a daze, barely recognising what was in front of you. What vision you had was muddled by pain and your hearing was drowned out by a piercing beat in your ears.
What...?
You could hardly think.
The world was a messy tsunami of pain and confusion. That is... Until a flash of green, white and red beamed into your eyes, a sneering smile on its face.
You gasped. Breath caught in your throat, as your chin was caught in his hand.
The Joker.
"HahahahahahaHAHAHAHA!" The laugh echoed throughout the building as your surprise turned into shakes. The hand left go as Joker's chortle turned into a full laugh, but that was hardly a relief.
This was, quite literally, the worst situation you could have ever gotten into. Out of everyone who would have an interest in Batman's soulmate, why must it be him?
You instinctively try to move, but soon realise you've been restrained, ropes tying you down to an iron chair. They don't budge.
The stomping of shoes drew your attention back to him, as the Joker approached you again.
"Well now." He began, a beaming grin stretching his face. "Lookie what we have here. You know, I was having a wonderful night, finally out on the town, able to meet all my old friends again. Then I meet you, and you know what I think?"
He rested a hand on your shoulder. You fought a shiver.
"What a... great new friend?" You try. You go for a smile of your own. You're certain it looks more like a grimace.
A mocking laugh is his response. Then, with a sudden twist, his hands grasp your collar, bringing you to his eye level. The movement forces you against the ropes that constrict your stomach, suffocating you.
"I find... a sniveling little brat, that just so happens, TO HAVE A BAT PROTECTING-"
A screech cuts him off, a flurry of wings diving directly into his face, what you could barely make out as a beak aimed at his eyes. The pain you're under causes you to take a moment to understand what's going on, as Joker swings a crowbar at the flying figure.
It was... Hood. Pecking and clawing at the Joker, doing whatever it could to draw him away. And it was working too.
That is, until Joker pressed down on his flower, causing a spray of gas to surge outward directly into Hood's line of flight. It slowed it down, a pause as Hood squawked in pain. A pause that was swiftly taken advantage of, as Joker swung a brutal arc into Hood, the crowbar sending the bird flying across the room and into a crumpled pile on the ground.
"No!" The scream tore itself out of you, a primal sort of agony you never thought you would ever feel after you had withdrawn from thoughts of your soulmates. It was like losing him all over again. Vigilante or not, Hood was a bird. Birds didn't typically survive a hit from a crowbar. If Hood died here, what would you do? One of the connections that had tormented you all your life, over just like that.
The scream drew Joker's attention back to you, a realisation that sank deeply in your throat. He approached you again, an air of casualness across his figure.
"Birds, what little pests. Good thing I always carry around pest spray." He laughs, adjusting the flower resting on his lapel. "I've always preferred bats." A thunk noise sounded out as he spoke, drawing your attention to a small cage he dropped.
It was a birdcage. Inside that birdcage was...
"Batman?!"
The bat inside was still, its gaze fixed on Joker's movements, but it did shift briefly to watch you for but a second as you spoke its name.
"Hahaha!" Joker's laugh was like nails on a chalkboard. "Turns out all you need to capture a bat is the right bait."
"How..?" You mumbled, the words unconsciously forming on your tongue due to the shock.
"Within a moment of my crowbar's acquaintance with your dear old head, Bats appeared! A bit of a nuisance at first, but a few threats at that neck of yours calmed him right down!" Joker admitted, the biggest smile you had seen yet on his face. He chuckled at the mere memory of it, as you shook in horror.
Two of your soulmates were now down. You couldn't stop shaking, horrified. All your options were dwindling and Joker looked more... murdery by the second.
Your attention was caught by a feeling of feathers brushing against your arms, the shaking making the thing touch you. You paused for a miniscule second, as you tried to think of what it was. Wait.
Was another one of your soulmates here? But rather than fight, this one was untying you? Or maybe gnawing at the ropes, whichever option was more plausible for a bird/bat.
Could you stall long enough to get out? It seemed like the only possibility left.
"Why...why do this? What enjoyment are you finding from this?" Maybe not the best line of questioning, but it was all your pounding head could come up with.
"Why?" Joker echoed, pausing for a moment. "Because I don't take kindly to cheaters. Me and Bats have something special. I dealt with my soul chain long ago, and yet! I find him cheating on me with this lousy excuse for a time waster!" He ends his shout pointing at you, a scowl on his painted face. It's possibly the worst expression you've seen on Joker yet.
"Aren't the other Robins his soulmates too? Why are you only targeting me?"
"I dealt with one of the flying rats long ago, quite a great plan if I may say so, but he just came back! I don't feel like wasting my time with this eternal game of wack-a-mole, so I've decided on a new method."
What's the method...?" You ask, reluctantly.
"You." He smiles.
He steps closer, withdrawing a gun from his pocket. "Thanks for the opportunity to capture Bats, my dear, but I've had enough of his chains getting in the way of our little game. I'll take much better care of little Batsy once you die, well, to an extent anyway! Hahaha!"
He tosses the gun up and down, carelessly as he walks towards you.
Up.
What could you do?
Down.
Hood was still crumpled in the corner, likely unconscious.
Up.
Batman was shaking the cage, unable to do anything else in its rage.
Down.
The unknown soul animal hadn't finished removing the ropes.
Across. The gun meets your temple, a few inches away from your head. You lock eyes with him. He pulls the trigger.
Pop! You flinch, coming face to face with a little Bang! flag that popped out of the gun.
You sigh, a momentary relief. You've been spared. You shift a little, feeling the ropes loosen. Your soul animal was doing its job well. You intake a few breaths, as Joker slaunters away from you, chuckling under his breath.
You close your eyes for a moment, trying to regain yourself amidst all the pain.
BANG!
"Agh-!" You jolt, shooting straight up. There's a pain in your cheek, a metallic liquid dripping down.
Turning your head ever so slightly, you spy the Bang flag lodged into the wall. It was a real gun after all.
But..
Why didn't he shoot you?
"Guns are a little too dry, don't you think?" You turn back around, immediately coming face to face with the Joker, an image that makes you flinch.
There's a crowbar in his hands.
"I don't ever repeat jokes, but, my first attempt with this weapon didn't stick too long. I don't want to lower the bar of my comedy, but maybe it'll work this time? Second time's the charm!"
"It's actually the third time.." You speak, nerves causing your words to tumble out. So that's why he didn't shoot you. He intends to make your final moments as painful as possible.
He smiles in response to your quip, lifting the bar up.
"W-wait!" You cried out, desperation pooling into whatever would give you a chance at survival. "Couldn't you do anything else?! Brainwash me, use me as a hostage, isn't it just a waste if you kill me?!" You practically scream the final words, your panic reaching a crescendo of horror.
The Joker's reply is simple.
"Nope!"
He swings.
BANG!
A bullet flies through his hand, forcing him to drop the crowbar as he pulls back.
You both turn, spotting a bulky man in black at the entrance of the warehouse.
He's wearing a red helmet.
"Joker.." The voice is deep, a threatening timbre you'd only hear replicated in nightmares.
"Let. The civilian. Go.â His gun clicks.
âUrgh. Speak of the devil.â Joker complains, unphased. âMy plans are being ruined and it's not even by Bats. What is the world coming to?â
âWaitâŠâ The Joker pauses, noticing a fallacy in the vigilantesâ words. âCivilian? Oh, HAHAHA! OHHhhh you have no idea whatâs going on here do you?â The Joker snickers in delight, giving you a conniving glance.
âOh my, oh my. I didn't realise you were also a jokester.â Joker squishes your cheeks, a little too harsh to be anything but painful. He laughs again at the expression on your face.
There's no response from the figure, but the bullet that Joker barely dodges the next second later is answer enough. It grants you and the Joker some distances, so you're grateful.
A flapping of wings draws your attention, a dark blue blur sailing through the room before landing on your lap. Nightwing.
You blink in realisation, finally understanding why not all your soul animals had appeared to help you. Wing had led one of the bats to you. You glanced over. Judging from the helmet, was this Red Hood.
Uh oh. You hoped he didn't notice Hood in the corner.
Or Batman. Or the soul animal freeing you- oh no you were absolutely screwed werenât you?
You gulp.
âWait.. You?â Red Hoodâs modulated voice didnât convey any emotion, but it couldn't disguise the hesitance in which he spoke.
Exposed.
âUhmmm⊠no?â You tried.
Wing nuzzled your cheek. Hoodâs gaze intensified.
âOkay! Okay yes, but I swear there's a reason why I never came to any of you- it wasn't because of you-â Oh dear that one was a blatant lie.
âI.. I mean, I just didn't want-â What could you do, what could you say? You didn't want to lie, but the truth wasn't good either.
In-between your frantic ramblings however, the Joker had snuck up on Red Hood, taking a lucky swing that missed by about a centimeter.
Red Hoodâs retaliation was swift, the two suddenly engaging in a battle of force that was very much leaning in Red Hoodâs favour. Although, ever so often Red Hood gave a wince of pain. Did Hoodâs soul animal formâs state injure him slightly?
That question would go unanswered, as the ropes around you crumpled, revealing Red to be the soul animal that had been bailing you out all this time.
Well. You weren't going to get a better opportunity than this. Pushing Red and Wing off your lap, you rush out, aiming for one of the broken windows.
Batman makes a slight growling noise as you pass his birdcage. You try not to think about it.
âHey!â A batarang flies past you, the rope attached to it meeting no target as you trip on some broken glass.
âAh!â You mumble, surprised at your good (?) forture. There's now a cut on your leg. Great.
Red Hood is subsequently distracted from any more attempts to detain you, as the Joker takes another swing that gets a little too close for comfort in response, laughing all the while.
Clumsily falling out of the window, you thank Lady Gotham that the Joker kidnapped you on the ground floor, so thereâs no drop whatsoever.
You sigh, injuries now taking a toll as the constant adrenaline was wearing off. You stumble forward.
Red and Wing land on your shoulders. Of course.
You limp out into Gothamâs alleyways, oblivious to the movement of a lithe figure on the rooftop, watching you.
----
Yeah those who guessed Joker were correct! Enjoy a cookie if you did! It seemed criminal to not have a chapter that explored how a soulmate universe would influence Batman and Joker's relationship, so that's what I did!
Oh and yeah, poor Reader. They are not having too good of a time rn. All these injuries aren't really gonna help them plead their case either.
A bit more of Jason this time too! How funnnn. I definitely feel bad for birdy Hood though. Red Hood may be super skilled but it's a little too unrealistic for him to solo as a bird :(

Him (Them)
( So I decided 'fuck it' pitch pearl babyyy, I've seen other people do this ship and decided well why the hell not right. Anyways have fun!)
~
Phantom and his council were finally in the end processes to a peace treaty with Earth,
As years went on from what was once only the USA with their Ecto-Acts got worse. The GIW began opening in other countries without them truly realizing what they were allowing, until the Infinity Realms were at the point of declaring war on all of Earth itself.
The only reason that managed not to happen was because of Phantom finally being able to contact the Justice League and sit them down to have an actual conversation about everything that was going on.
That's where they were right now the world leaders, the 3 founders of the JL , and High King Phantom with his council arguing back and forth the peace treaty.
Phantom turned as one of the men stood up
" And just how are we supposed to truly trust you and yours to not take over or cause harm to our people?"
Others began chiming in, arguing that there was no true guarantee in what Phantom was saying.
Until a voice towards the back called out an idea
" Marriage! To truly unite our worlds in peace King Phantom must marry one of our own!"
Phantom subtly tensed the idea of a loveless marriage to a complete stranger made his core tremble with rage.
He glanced around seeing the looks of the people around him, he saw their greed for his power and status, their point for the marriage would be to control him or at least give them an advantage.
Phantom tuned out the arguing between the JL and the rest.
Thinking of what to say to get out of this situation without risking the treaty.
Snapping back to attention holding back a sharp smirk.
" Gentlemen if what you fear is the safety of your people then do not fret I have protected and saved your people and world since my creation, as for your request of a marriage to unify our world then I have wonderful news for I am already married to one of your people and even have children with him."
Phantom looked at the shocked faces around him, a couple grimacing or frowning at their missed opportunity to have control and access to him by one of their chosen.
A rather stupid man for what else could he be with what he said next.
" Then divorce him and marry someone that we find more suitable!"
Phantom's form distorted around him as he processed what he had just heard.
" Divorce? You wish for me to Divorce my husband, the one who I cherish above all else, the one I have shared my core the very being of myself with. The one who I gave my very being and soul to create our children. The one who is half my being, the one who if not for him we wouldn't be speaking at this moment because it was only his word that kept me from declaring war on your world."
"Make no mistake I do wish for peace between our worlds, many of my people are from this world and would like to continue to stay or visit especially for their loved ones, and I would like that for them without the danger of being hunted and torn apart."
"For if I wished war your planet would not stand a chance for what is a few million of your soldiers compared to my infinite soldiers that only would continue to grow as yours died."
"For him I fought and won against the previous tyrant King for daring to to cause him pain, the very King who only was defeated previously by the combined efforts of the strongest in the Infinite Realms, The very same King I defeated alone."
"So please do continue talking against my husband."
"..."
"What is his name?"
"Danny Fenton."

Hi,
Hopefully I'm doing this right I haven't requested actually used my tumblr in a hot sec but I really love your Blue Lock headcanons whenever they popup. So I was wondering if you could do:
Blue Lock characters x Reader who somehow actually convinced their s/o to get matching tattoos with them.
(if this hasn't been asked yet)
âđŠđđđđĄ đŠđđđ đąđ§ đąđ§đ€â
a/n:Â this is so cute!
ft. isagi yoichi, nagi seishiro, mikage reo, chigiri hyoma, itoshi rin, itoshi sae, bachira meguru, kaiser michael
isagi yoichi
you jokingly said, "bet you wouldnât get a matching tattoo with me," and his dumb competitive ass went, "bet. say less."Â
30 minutes later you were in a parlor.Â
you both got tiny numbers (11 for him, your lucky number for you) on your ribs.Â
he tries to act chill about it but secretly looks at it in the mirror like "we're soulmates now huh?"Â
"so like⊠we're permanent now, right? right??"Â
nagi seishiro
you tricked him. straight up. you were like, "if you get this tattoo, iâll buy you that limited gacha drop + snacks for a month."Â
he blinked twice and was like, "deal."Â
ended up with matching sleepy clouds on your wrists.Â
he stares at it when heâs bored. he lowkey loves it.Â
âkinda cute. itâs like⊠youâre always there. lazy but romantic.âÂ
mikage reo
you brought it up during pillow talk and made it sound super intimate and emotional.Â
âisnât it kind of beautiful to have something just us two carry forever?âÂ
now he has your initials and a crown inked on his inner arm like a simp.Â
âOURS not MINE,â he clarifies.Â
he buys you skincare for tattoo aftercare and makes you lotion his arm while he stares lovingly at you. ugh.Â
chigiri hyoma
tbh he said no at first but you started designing one that matched his aesthetic: sakura petal + your birth flower intertwined.Â
then showed up with temporary tattoos to visualize it and got him attached.Â
â⊠fine. but only if itâs discreet.âÂ
itâs on your ankles. when he runs, it feels like heâs carrying you with him.Â
protective over it like a hawk. will not let dirt near it. ever.Â
itoshi rin
it was war. you teased him relentlessly, made fun of his âscared of commitmentâ aura.Â
then told him youâd only drop it if he beat you in a shootout.Â
you purposely won. twice.Â
he silently booked the appointment. didnât even tell you until you were both in the chair.Â
got simple black ink waves, symbolizing calm and chaos.Â
â⊠whatever. youâre stuck with me anyway.âÂ
he touches it when he misses you.Â
itoshi sae
you brought it up at 3 AM in madrid while half-asleep and cuddling.Â
he chuckled, said "sure," and you thought he was joking.Â
next morning? he had a calendar reminder and a parlor booked.Â
"if you're serious about something, don't joke about it. now pick a design."Â
matching fine-line stars behind your ears. no one sees them but you two.Â
when you kiss his ear, he smirks and mutters "twin stars."Â
bachira meguru
you literally didnât have to convince him. he was like "oooh ink? matching?? FUN."Â
drew your tattoos himself. theyâre little chaotic faces, yours is sticking its tongue out, his is grinning with fangs.Â
inner biceps.Â
proudly shows it off and says âweâre soul siblings now!! forever!!!âÂ
you laugh every time you see it. he kisses his and goes "mwah, for my other half."Â
kaiser michael
he tried to act like it was your idea but he 100% suggested it first.Â
"if youâre gonna belong to someone, might as well make it permanent, right?"Â
had an entire portfolio prepared.Â
matching gold crowns with roses underneath on your spines. dramatic af.Â
flirts with you every time you wear a backless outfit. "show them who owns you."Â
but jokes aside, itâs the first thing heâs ever wanted to keep forever.Â

played me like a clarinet - rafe cameron (three) - finale

request: "Desperately-on my knees-begging for a ''She's all that'' from 1999, with Popular Rafe x Reader. Ooouff, and you want that soul crushing heartbreak when she finds out about the bet he had made" pairing: rafe x smart!nerdy!reader. warnings: more angst <3; part one here; part two
Staying away from Rafe was hard.
It was hard before you two tried to be friends and itâs even harder now that you gave him the no-contact ultimatum. Everywhere you went, it felt like he was there, even if he wasnât. It was in the songs that played on the radio, in the way the sun set over the patio near your dorm, in the way his, now yours, shirts still smelled like him.Â
You missed the late-night conversations, the way heâd laugh at your jokes, and how he could read you better than anyone else. But more than anything, you missed the way he made you feelâeven if it wasnât real at first.Â
Every time your phone buzzed, you stupidly hoped it was him, even though you knew it wouldnât be. Youâd told him to stop, to leave you alone, and he had respected your boundaries even when it seemed like the last thing he wanted to do. And youâre proud of him for itâfor once, heâs doing something right. But youâre mostly proud of yourself too, for sticking to your decision, for not letting him back in so easily.
Still, it doesnât make it any easier.
You thought giving yourself space would help you move on, help you figure out if you could ever really trust him again. But instead, it just left this space where he used to be. You kept wondering how much of it was real for himâif any of it was. Maybe thatâs why staying away felt impossible because a part of you wanted to believe he meant some of it, that his feelings werenât just part of some game.Â
You had to draw the line, to protect yourself from getting hurt all over again. And even though it hurt to keep him out, you knew it was the only way youâd figure out what you really wanted, without him clouding your judgment.
You tried to move on.
Slowly, cautiously, you started going on datesânothing serious, just enough to remind yourself that there were other people out there, that Rafe wasnât the only guy who could make you laugh or feel special. Every few weeks, youâd let yourself get dressed up, put on a smile, and meet someone new.
The first date was awkward, more like a practice run than anything else. You spent most of it comparing the guy to Rafe, noticing all the little things that didnât measure up. It wasnât fair to the guy, but you couldnât help it. He wasnât Rafe, and thatâs all you could focus on. You ended the night with a polite hug and a promise to text, but you knew you wouldnât.
The second date was better, but not by much. The guy was nice, made you laugh a few times, but there was no spark, no connection that made you want to see him again. You tried to be present, to give him a chance, but your mind kept drifting back to Rafe, to what he would say or how he would react to something. By the end of the night, you felt more exhausted than excited.
After that, you took a break. It was too soon, you told yourself. You werenât ready to move on yet, and that was okay.Â
Some days, you almost reached out to him. Youâd pick up your phone, scroll through your messages, and your finger would hover over his name. It would be so easy to send a quick text, something casual, just to see how he was doing. But you never did. You knew that one message could ruinl everything youâd worked so hard to buildâthe distance, the boundaries, the fragile sense of self you were trying to protect.
Instead, you threw yourself into other things. Classes, the cheer squad, hobbies, anything to keep your mind occupied. You spent more time with friends, even though it was hard not to talk about him. You kept the conversations light, steering away from anything that would bring his name up. You didnât want to be that person who couldnât stop talking about their ex, who couldnât let go, even if thatâs exactly how you felt inside.
It helped, sometimes.
For brief moments, youâd find yourself genuinely laughing at a joke or losing yourself in a book or a project. But then something small would happenâa song on the radio, a glimpse of someone who looked like him, or the sound of his name in passingâand it would all come rushing back. It wasnât fair.Â
Youâd think youâd be used to it by now, but each time it felt like a fresh wound. The memory of his laughter, the way his eyes crinkled when he smiled, the way he always knew just what to sayâit was as if he left a ghost behind, haunting every corner of your life. And in those moments when youâd catch yourself smiling or feeling light, it was like a betrayal. How could you allow yourself to feel joy when he wasnât there to share it?
It was like trying to run from a shadow that moved with you, always there, no matter how fast you tried to go.
Every time you thought about him, about how he had hurt you and how you were struggling to move on, it felt like stabbing at an old wound, hoping it would heal faster if you just made it worse. The reality was that you missed him in ways you werenât ready to admit.
Running into him was inevitable. Despite your best efforts to avoid the places he might be, your college was too small, too intertwined with memories of him.
The first time you saw him after the ultimatum was at a party you had reluctantly agreed to attend. You spotted him across the room, laughing with his friends, looking just as carefree as ever. Your heart twisted painfully in your chest, and for a moment, you felt stuck to the ground. But then he looked up, his eyes meeting yours, and the smile slipped from his face.
It was a small moment, one that no one else seemed to notice, but it felt like the all the air in your lungs had been sucked out. You forced yourself to look away, to focus on the conversation happening around you, but it was impossible to ignore the feeling of his eyes on you.
The second time was worse.
You were at the grocery store, just trying to get through your day when you turned a corner and nearly collided with him. The shock of seeing him so close, so unexpectedly, made you want to disappear on the spot.
You both mumbled awkward apologies, neither of you really saying anything of substance, just trying to avoid the awkwardness. But then he asked how you were.
âIâm fine,â you replied, too quickly, too sharply. The lie tasted bitter on your tongue.
He nodded, and for a moment, it looked like he wanted to say more, to reach out and touch you, but he didnât. You both stood there, trapped in a painful silence, before you finally made an excuse and walked away, leaving him standing there in the aisle.
After that, the encounters became more frequent. You saw him at the beach, in coffee shops, passing by on the street. Each time, it was the sameâan awkward exchange, a few forced pleasantries, and then a quick retreat. It was like the universe was conspiring against you, refusing to give you the space you so desperately needed.
And each time, it hurt just a little bit more. Seeing him in these mundane, everyday moments, like nothing had changed, made it harder to keep up the distance youâd built. It reminded you of all the times when being around him had felt natural, easy, like he was just supposed to be there.
But the worst part was the way he looked at you. Jessica had told you before. Heâd never looked at any girl like that. And you stupidly held onto that tiny hope even if you shouldnât.Â
Youâd been trying to keep it together all night, but the sight of Jessica and Tyler laughing together, so effortlessly in love, was making you bleed inside. The drinks kept coming, one after another, until the room started to blur around you. You didnât even notice how much you were drinkingâonly that it was easier to keep swallowing than to think about Rafe.Â
But the alcohol wasnât enough to quiet your thoughts.
Instead, it seemed to amplify them, making everything feel sharper, more painful. Jessica and Tylerâs whispered words of affection, the way his hand rested on her thigh, the way she looked at him with pure adorationâYou couldnât stop thinking about how that should have been you and Rafe. Â
By the time you realized you were too far gone, it was late. You stumbled as you stood up, the room spinning wildly around you. SomeoneâJessica, maybeâasked if you were okay, but their voice was muffled, distant. You tried to nod, to say something reassuring, but your legs buckled beneath you, sending you crashing back into your chair.
"Whoa, easy there," Jessicaâs voice was sharper now, filled with concern. She crouched down in front of you, her hands steadying you. âYouâre not okay. We need to get you out of here.â
You tried to shake your head, to insist that you were fine, but the words wouldnât come. The room was tilting, spinning, and you couldnât focus on anything. Your vision was blurry, your limbs heavy, and you realized, with a sinking feeling, that you were too drunk to take care of yourself. You couldnât even stand up, let alone make it home.
Panic started to set in. This wasnât supposed to happen. You werenât supposed to lose control like this. You werenât supposed to need help.
âJess⊠Iâm fineâŠâ The words slurred out of your mouth, but even you didnât believe them.
âNo, youâre not.â Jessicaâs voice was firm now, almost authoritative. She glanced around, clearly trying to figure out what to do. The other girls were watching, their laughter fading into worried murmurs, âBaby, can you go and get her some water and sugar, please?â
She gently guided you to lean back, her hand on your shoulder to steady you. You tried to focus, tried to push through the fog in your mind, but everything was slipping away, your thoughts swirling together in a jumbled mess.
âHey, stay with me, okay?â Her voice was softer now, almost pleading. She wasnât just a concerned friend at this moment; she was scared. Youâd never seen her like this before.Â
âIââ You started, but the words tangled in your throat. You wanted to tell her that you were sorry, that you didnât mean to ruin the night, that you just wanted to stop thinking about him for a couple of hours, but all that came out was a garbled sound that barely resembled a word.
âShh, itâs okay,â she soothed, her thumb brushing lightly against your arm. âWeâll get you out of here. Itâs gonna be okay.â
Tyler returned with the water and sugar, and Jessica took the glass, trying to get you to drink. The water felt cool against your lips, but swallowing was harder than it shouldâve been. You could feel yourself teetering on the edge of consciousness.
âCome on, just a little more,â Jessica urged. You managed a few more sips before the glass slipped from your grasp, water sloshing onto your lap.
âJess, Iââ You tried again, but before you could finish, you heard another voice, one that sent a jolt through your foggy mind.
He was there, right in front of you, and you knew it was him without needing to open your eyes.
âJesus Christ,â you heard him mutter. He crouched down, gently lifting your chin so you were forced to meet his eyes. âWhat the hell happened?â
âShe had too much to drink,â Jessica explained quickly, her tone defensive, as if she expected him to start blaming her. âWe were just about to get her out of here.â
You tried to smile, to play it off like it was no big deal, but all that came out was a shaky breath. âToo much⊠too much, RafeâŠâ
âI can see that,â he said, his tone softening as he brushed a strand of hair from your face. He turned to Jessica, his voice all business now.Â
You didnât know how long he had been standing there. Was your brain torturing you? Making you believe he was there?
His jaw tightened, but he didnât argue. Instead, he knelt down beside you, his hands grabbing your trembling ones. âHey,â he said, his voice softer now, as if he was afraid you might break into pieces if he spoke too loudly. âIâm gonna get you home, okay?â
You wanted to say no, to tell him that you didnât need him, but the words wouldnât come. Instead, you just nodded, too tired and too dizzy to fight it.
He exchanged a look with Jessica and she sighed, her worry morphing into something closer to relief. âIâll help you get her to the car.â
Your legs were useless, and you sagged heavily against his chest. He didnât hesitate, scooping you up in his arms like you weighed nothing, cradling you against him. His scent surrounded you, familiar and comforting, and despite everything, you found yourself leaning into him, letting your head rest against his shoulder.
âIâve got you,â he murmured, his breath warm against your temple. âIâm gonna get you out of here, okay?â
You nodded weakly, too exhausted to argue. Your eyes fluttered shut as he carried you out, the sounds of the party fading away behind you.
The ride to your dorm was a blur.Â
You were vaguely aware of Rafeâs arm around you, of Jessica sitting on your other side, rubbing your back in small circles. The motion of the car made your stomach churn, and you had to close your eyes to keep from getting sick. Uber or not, you werenât about to ruin someone elseâs car.Â
When you finally arrived, he practically carried you inside while Jess fumbled with your keys before pushing the door open.
He led you to your bed, easing you down onto the mattress.
âIâll stay with her,â he muttered, his voice leaving no room for argument. Jessica hesitated, looking between the two of you, before nodding slowly.
âCall me if you need anything,â she said to Rafe, squeezing his arm before she left.
You were barely aware of her leaving, still too drunk to process much of anything. He knelt down beside your bed, brushing a stray hair from your face.Â
âYouâre gonna be okay,â he murmured, his voice a soothing lullaby.
You wanted to say something, to tell him that you didnât need him, that you were fine on your own.
You felt your bottom lip tremble.Â
He noticed the change immediately, his blue eyes softening as he continued to gently brush the hair from your face. âHey, itâs okay,â he whispered, his thumb lightly tracing the curve of your jaw. âJust breathe.â
But that only made it worse. You could feel the tears welling up as you realized just how much youâd missed thisâmissed him. The safety of his presence, the way he always seemed to know what you needed before you did.
Your stomach churned, the nausea that had been building since you first sat in the car finally reaching a breaking point.
âRafe,â you mumbled, your voice weak and shaky, âI think Iâm gonnaââ
He reacted instantly, his arms tightening around you as he quickly looked the room. âOkay, okay, just breathe,â he said, âYouâre gonn be fine.â
But breathing was the last thing on your mind as the room started spinning faster. You tried to push away from him, your hand gripping his shirt as you fought to keep it down.
âRafe, I need to throw up,â you managed to gasp, panic rising in your chest.
He didnât hesitate, scooping you up from the bed and hurrying toward the bathroom. You barely registered the fact he was touching you again after so long, your mind solely focused on the nausea.
He got you to the bathroom just in time, guiding you to the toilet as you collapsed in front of it. He held your hair back with one hand, the other rubbing soothing circles on your back as you retched, the sound of it echoing harshly in the small space.
âItâs okay, Iâm right here,â he murmured, grounding you as you emptied your stomach. You could feel the heat of his hand on your back, the gentle way he kept your hair out of the way.
When it was over, you slumped against the cool porcelain, too exhausted to care about anything other than the relief of having the nausea finally subside. Rafe handed you a damp washcloth, and you pressed it against your face, the coolness soothing against your overheated skin.
âBetter?â he asked softly, crouching down beside you.Â
You nodded weakly, unable to meet his eyes. âYeah,â you whispered, your voice hoarse. âThanks.â
He didnât say anything, just stayed close, while you avoided his gaze entirely. The room was quiet now, the only sound the slow, steady rhythm of your breathing as you tried to regain some control.
âIâm sorry.â
You felt embarrassed, and vulnerable in a way you hadnât expected, and you hated every second of it.
âStop apologizing,â Rafe said gently, his hand still resting on your back.Â
âCan you⊠can you stay over?âÂ
You didnât want to be alone, not tonight, not with the way your heart was aching.
Rafeâs eyes softened, the way they did only for you, and for a moment, you thought he might agree, that he might stay and help you forget, even just for a little while.Â
But then he shook his head, his expression pained.
âI canât,â he said, his voice strained, like it hurt him to say it. âYou know I canât, sweets.â
You tried to hold it together, but it was no use. Before you could stop yourself, you were cryingâquiet, heartbreaking sobs that you couldnât control.
âIâm sorry,â he whispered as he reached out, brushing the tears from your cheeks, but it only made you cry harder. âIâm so sorry.â
You couldnât even respond, the words tangled up in your throat. It wasnât just that he wouldnât stay; it was everythingâthe confusion, the heartbreak, the way you felt like you were losing him all over again, even though he was right there in front of you.
âPlease donât cry,â Rafe pleaded, his voice breaking. He pulled you into his arms, holding you tightly against him. âI hate seeing you like this.â
You buried your face in his chest, the sobs shaking your entire body. The warmth of his touch, the familiar scent of himâit was too much, too close to everything youâd been trying to avoid. But you couldnât pull away. You didnât want to.
âI just⊠I just miss you,â you choked out, the words spilling from you in a broken whisper. âI miss you so much, Rafe.â
âI know,â he murmured, his voice cracking. âI miss you too.â
You clung to him, your fingers gripping his shirt like it was the only thing keeping him from disappearing. The tears wouldnât stop, and neither would the ache in your chest, the one that had been there ever since youâd forced yourself to let him go.
âI wish things were different,â his usually bright eyes were dimmed, his brows drew together as if he was in pain. He looked at you like he was memorizing every detail, like he was afraid this might be the last time, âI keep hurting you.â
His hands trembled slightly as he pulled back just enough to look at you, his touch gentle as his fingers cradled your face. His thumbs brushed away the tears again, but they kept coming, fresh and spilling over. His lips parted as if he wanted to say something, but all that came out was a ragged breath.
âPlease donât hate me more for this,â he whispered, his voice rough, barely holding back. His eyes searched yours, desperate for reassurance, for something to cling to in this moment that felt like it was tearing you both apart.
âI could never hate you,â you whispered back, the words catching in your throat as the tears continued to fall. It hurt to say it, to admit it out loud.
He left that night.
You had almost convinced yourself that it was better this way, that moving on, that he did you a favor that night by leaving, that keeping him out of your life was the only solution.Â
Staying away from you was killing him.Â
ââ·àłââ·àłââ·àłââ·ââ·àłââ·àłââ·àłââ·ââ·àłââ·àłââ·àłââ·ââ·àł
Rafe spent his days trying to distract himself, throwing himself into his studies for the first time in his life, into parties, into anything that would take his mind off you.Â
But nothing worked. Every time he saw something that reminded him of you, it was like a punch to the gutâa song you liked, a place you used to go together, even the smell of the ocean would bring memories crashing back. He missed you so much it hurt.
And when he saw you, it was even worse. The first time he ran into you after the break, it felt like the world had stopped spinning. He was at a party, trying to forget, trying to lose himself in the noise and the crowd, when he saw you across the room. For a moment, he thought he was imagining it, that his mind was playing tricks on him. But then your eyes met his, and his heart almost stopped.
You were as beautiful as ever, maybe even more so, but there was something different about youâsomething guarded, distant. But before he could even think about crossing the room to talk to you, you looked away, your expression closing off, leaving him standing there like an idiot, staring after you.Â
Heâd told you heâd wait for you and he intended on keeping that promise. He couldnât stop imagining what it would be like to have you back, to hold you, to tell you how much he loved you, how sorry he was. Heâd never felt this way about anyone before, never been this wrecked over a girl, but you werenât just any girl.Â
Rafe had never been good at groveling, at admitting he was wrong, but for you, heâd do anything. Heâd get on his knees and beg if thatâs what it took. He didnât care about his pride anymore, not when it meant losing you. He was willing to do whatever it took to make things right, to prove to you that he was serious, that he loved you more than he ever thought possible.
But every time he saw you, he felt that hope slipping further away. The look in your eyes, the way you avoided him, it all felt like a final nail in the coffin. And yet, he couldnât let go, couldnât stop himself from yearning for you, from wanting you back in his life. He was going out of his mind, torn between respecting your wishes and fighting for you with everything he had.
Rafe knew he had to do something different, something that would show you just how much he had changed. The problem was, he didn't know what that was. He needed to find a way to prove to you that he was serious, that he was willing to put in the work to make things right.
So he started small.
He stopped going to parties, and stopped trying to drown out his feelings in distractions. Instead, he focused on becoming the person he thought you deservedâthe person he knew he could be if he just tried. He started paying more attention in class, showing up on time, and actually studying. He even started volunteering, something heâd never done before, just to keep his mind occupied with something productive, something that wasnât about him for once.
But the real change came when he began working on himself. He started seeing a therapist, something heâd always scoffed at before. He had a lot of baggage, a lot of unresolved issues that had driven him to hurt you in the first place, and he knew he needed to work through them if he ever wanted to be good enough for you.
It wasnât easy. Therapy forced him to confront things heâd buried deep, things heâd avoided dealing with for years. Family trauma and all. But he stuck with it, because he knew it was the only way to get better, to be the kind of man you could trust again.
Slowly, he started to see changes in himself. He was more patient, more understanding, and more aware of how his actions affected others. He didnât expect you to notice any of itâhe was doing it for himself as much as for youâbut he hoped that maybe, just maybe, youâd see that he was trying.
And then he had to pick you up that night.
He had never seen you drunk before, youâd always preferred your fruity punch over any other alcoholic drink. Heâd always known you as strong, independent, someone who could hold your own. Seeing you like thatâbroken, hurtingâmade something in him snap. Was this his fault? Had he done this to you?Â
He knew he couldnât stay that night. As much as it killed him to leave, he understood that this was part of growing tooâthe part where he learned to respect your boundaries, to give you space even when all he wanted was to hold you and never let go. Youâd hate yourself the next day. He was doing you both a favor.Â
The next morning, Rafe didnât text or call. He wanted to give you time, to process everything without the pressure of him hovering. Instead, he threw himself back into his routine, keeping himself busy but always with you at the back of his mind. He wondered if you remembered anything from the night beforeâhow close heâd come to breaking down when you asked him to stay, how it had taken every ounce of self-control to walk away from you again.
Days passed, and he didnât hear from you. It felt like a new kind of torture, but he stayed strong, if this was part of the process then so be it, he needed to be patient.Â
He didnât want to push you, didnât want to make you feel like you owed him anything. But he couldnât stop hoping that maybe, just maybe, you were thinking about him too.
So when the call came that you were in the hospital, his heart nearly fell through his ass. He didnât think, didnât hesitateâhe just went.
The thought of you being hurt, of something happening to you, was enough to make him speed over the legal limit. He needed to see you, to make sure you were okay, even if it was the last thing he did.
When he got there, his heart clenched tightly in his chest as he pushed through the doors of the hospital. He hated hospitals, hated everything about themâthe smell, the sterile white walls. But none of that mattered now. All he could think about was you.
The nurse at the front desk directed him to your room, and he practically sprinted down the hallway, his mind racing with a thousand worst-case scenarios. Heâd been too fucking anxious to ask if you were okay, as soon as your name and the word hospital registered, he was rushing over. When he finally reached your door, he paused, his hand hovering over the doorknob. What if you didnât want to see him? What if you told him to leave?
But then he heard your pretty voice, soft and familiar. He pushed open the door and there you were, sitting up in the hospital bed with a sprained ankle, looking more frustrated than hurt. He breathed out in relief, so intensely it made his knees weak.
âRafe?â you blurted out, your eyes widening in surprise as you saw him standing there. âWhat are you doing here?â
He took a step closer, âThey called me. Iâm still your emergency contact.â
âOh,â you muttered, looking down at your hands. âI didnât realize.â
He took a deep breath, trying to steady himself. âAre you okay?â
You nodded, but he could see the tension in your shoulders, the way you were trying to hold it together. âItâs just a sprained ankle. Nothing serious. Did a little too much during practice."
Rafe nodded, but he didnât move, didnât say anything. He couldnât. The sight of you in that hospital bed, even for something as minor as a sprained ankle killed him.Â
âHey,â you said softly, your voice pulling him out of his thoughts. âYou donât have to stay. Iâm fine. Really.â
But he couldnât leave. Not now, not when you were right in front of him, looking so small and vulnerable. He shook his head, his voice coming out rougher than before, âIâm not leaving.â
You blinked up at him, âBut you donât have toââ
âIâm not leaving,â he repeated, his voice firm. âI know you can handle yourself, but Iâm staying.â
Surprisingly, you didnât kick him out.  âOkay.â
He pulled up a chair beside your bed, settling in like he had no intention of going anywhere. The room was quiet, the only sound the faint beeping of the machines and the murmur of voices from the hallway outside. For a moment, neither of you said anything.  It was strange, being this close yet so far away from you. He glanced at you from the corner of his eye, taking in the way yours had softened, the way the lines of worry on your face were starting to smooth out. You looked tired like youâd been lacking sleep. He wished he could help, even if just for a little while.
âYou know,â he said quietly, breaking the silence, âI used to think I was pretty good at taking care of myself. But then I met you, and I realized Iâd never really let anyone take care of me before. Not like you did.â
âRafeââ
âNo, let me finish,â he interrupted gently, âIâm still here. Iâll always be here, even if all I can do is sit in a hospital room with you and make sure youâre okay.â
You looked down at your hands, a small, sad smile tugging at the corners of your lips.
âI missed you,â you whispered, the words so quiet he almost didnât hear them.
His breath caught in his throat, his heart squeezing painfully at the admission. âI missed you too,â he replied, his voice thick with emotion.
âThank you for that night.â
He shifted slightly in his chair, leaning a little closer, careful not to overwhelm you but needing to be nearer all the same.
âI didnât do anything special,â he murmured, though his mind replayed the events of that night. The helplessness heâd felt seeing you in that state, knowing there was little he could do to make it better. He hadnât been sure then if youâd even wanted him there, but heâd helped you anyway. He couldnât leave you, not when you needed someoneâwhen you needed him.
âYou were there,â a tear slipped down your cheek, and he instinctively reached out, his thumb gently wiping it away. The touch was soft, almost reverent, and it made your breath get stuck in your throat. âThatâs more than enough.â
You leaned into his touch for a moment, savoring the comfort it brought, even though it hurt to let yourself feel it, âJust glad youâre safe.â
âWhy did you come?â
âBecause I love you,â he admitted, tired of carrying the truth inside him, âI know I screwed upâGod, I know that. But Iâve spent every day since trying to be better, trying to be the kind of man you deserve. And I know I have a long way to go, but Iâm not giving up. Not on you. Not unless you ask me to.â
âYou love me?â
Your voice sounded so meek, so unsure it made him want to punch himself in the face. This was entirely his doing.Â
He nodded, his eyes never leaving yours. He looked nervous, and vulnerable, âYeah,â he said, âI do. Iâm in love with you, I justââ He hesitated, searching for the right words. âI didnât know how to say it, or maybe I was too scared to. Didnât want to make you think I was saying it to save my ass, yâknow?â
Youâd always wondered what it would be like to hear those words from him, to have him admit that he cared for you in the same way you cared for him.Â
âI didnât want to push you,â he continued, fingers intertwined, âBut I couldnât keep it in anymore. I couldnât let you think that I didnât care, that I didnât want this, want you.â
You blinked, trying to process everything he was saying. This was the Rafe youâd always hoped forâthe one who was honest and unafraid to show his emotions. But it was also the Rafe who had hurt you, who had made mistakes that left scars you werenât sure had fully healed.
âRafe, Iââ you started, but the words caught in your throat.
âYou donât have to say it, sweets. Itâs okay.â
âIâm scared,â you admitted, your voice shaking. âIâm scared of getting hurt again, of going back to that place where everything fell apart.â
He had changedâyou could see it in the way he carried himself, in the way he spoke to you. He wasnât the same Rafe who had hurt you.
"Iâm not asking you to trust me right away," he continued, though there was a hint of desperation in it. "I know I need to earn that. But please, give me a chance to prove it. I donât want to lose you again."
"You canât wait for me forever.â
âIâd wait for you a lifetime. I told you,â His jaw clenched, the muscles in his neck tensing when he spoke, as if he was trying not to cry, âIf you ever want me, Iâm yours.â
His hands, usually so restless, were still now, resting on his knees as he leaned slightly forward in his chair. You saw the man he was trying to beâthe man he wanted to be for you. He wasnât perfect, not by a long shot, but he was trying. And that had to count for something.
âEven if I made you wait until weâre eighty and grey?â
Rafe let out a breathless laugh, the sound strained but genuine, âEven then,â he whispered, his voice barely above a breath. âYouâre it for me.â
It scared you how much you wanted to believe him, how much you wanted to pull him into your arms and tell him that he was it for you too. He reached out, his hand hovering near yours, waiting for you to close the distance. You hesitated for only a moment before your fingers intertwined with his.  It felt right, like coming home after being lost for so long.
He squeezed your hand gently, his eyes searching yours for any sign of what you were thinking, feeling. He looked like he was holding his breath.
âI love you too.â
It was still scary, still uncertain, but you realized that nothing worth having ever came easy. And Rafe, with all his flaws and all his efforts to be better, was worth it.
He exhaled, his shoulders sagging in relief, âI donât deserve you,â he said whispered, lips pressed against your fingers, âBut Iâm going to spend every day trying to. I swear, Iâll never stop trying.â
You closed your eyes, âYouâre gonna make me cry.â
Rafeâs grip on your hand tightened, as if he could physically hold you together through sheer will alone. âIâm sorry, I didnât mean toââ he started, his voice panicked, but you shook your head, cutting him off.
âNo, itâs okay,â you whispered, opening your eyes to meet his. âI just⊠itâs been a long time since I let myself feel this way.â
He nodded, his thumb gently brushing against the back of your hand in slow, soothing circles. âYou donât have to hold back with me. Not anymore. Whatever youâre feeling, itâs okay.â
The tears youâd been holding back spilled over, running down your cheeks. Rafe was there instantly, his other hand reaching up to gently cup your face, his thumb brushing away the tears with a tenderness that made your heart hurt.
âIâm so sorry,â his voice cracked, âFor everything I put you through.â
You leaned into his touch, the warmth of his hand grounding you, giving you the strength to keep going. âI was so miserable Rafe,â you admitted, your voice trembling. âScared that if I let you back in, Iâd get hurt again. Scared that Iâd lose you all over again.â
âI know,â he said, his forehead resting against yours, his breath mingling with yours in the small space between you. âAnd I promise you, Iâm not going anywhere this time. Iâm here, and Iâm not going to let you down.â
âI want to try.â
Rafeâs breath hitched, and he pulled back slightly to look at you, his eyes searching yours as if he couldnât  believe what he was hearing. âYou do?â
You nodded, a small, tentative smile forming on your lips. âI do. But we need to take it slow, okay? I need time.â
âOf course,â he said quickly, his eyes bright with hope. âWeâll go as slow as you need. I donât fucking care sweets, Iâm not leaving.â
You werenât just giving him another chanceâyou were giving yourself one too. A chance to heal, to forgive, and to find your way back to each other.
Rafe pressed a gentle kiss to your forehead, lingering for a moment as if sealing the promise between you. âWeâve got this,â he murmured against your skin. âItâs you and me, okay?â
âYou and me.â
Rafeâs eyes softened, and a genuine smile tugged at his lips, one that reached his eyes and made them crinkle at the corners. It was a smile you hadnât seen in a long time, and seeing it made you want to bawl all over again. His hand cradled your cheek, his fingers tracing delicate circles on your jaw as his eyes locked onto yours, silently asking for permission, for forgiveness, for a chance to be close to you again. And when his lips finally brushed against yours, whatever pain you were feeling on your ankle disappeared.Â
The kiss was soft, tentative at first, like he was afraid you might pull away, afraid to push too far too soon. But the moment your lips pressed back against his, that tentative touch deepened. Rafeâs hand slid to the back of your neck, pulling you closer as if he couldnât stand to be apart from you even for a second. You could feel the desperation in the way his lips moved against yours, the way his breath hitched when you parted your lips to let him in.
Just as you were about to lose yourself in him, the door to your room swung open with a creak. You both froze, lips still touching, as someone cleared their throat.
You pulled away from each other reluctantly, your cheeks flushed, your breath coming in short, ragged gasps. Your eyes met Rafeâs and you saw the same blush of color on his face, the same love-sick expression that you were sure mirrored your own.
The doctor stood in the doorway, a clipboard in hand, a bemused smile tugging at the corners of her lips. âWell, I see youâre feeling better.â
Rafe cleared his throat, stepping back slightly, his hand still lingering on your arm as if he couldnât bring himself to let go just yet. âUh, yeah, sheâs doing great,â he mumbled.
âYou must be the boyfriend.â
You couldnât help the grin that took over, âYeah. He is.â

Hmmm this is dough again - You trapped in close quarters with PV as his most loyal knight as you are protecting him from an assassination attempt from mysterious hooded figures.
Dragging him out of the Vanilla Kingdom as fast as you can and getting very far into the shrubbery and trees until you both fall into a hole in the ground. Landing right on top of him. You both seem to be safe for the time being as the footsteps faded a few minutes ago. You warn him to stay quiet and vigilant and you'll find a way out of this as your limbs are tangled together, right into his sensitive ear.
He, is blushing and stuttering from the proximity. But you are unaware of this and claustrophobic, jostling around trying to climb out, hitting some spots of his that made him need to cover his mouth, mortified.
DO WITH THIS WHAT YOU WILL POOKIE
DOUGH AAAAAAAAAAA
I am so feral over this you have no idea, I feel like a dog that was just given its favorite chew toy <3
sorry in advance if this isnât that good, this took me all day (i havenât written anything since 2020-2021)
Additional tags: assassination attempt (not detailed), king/knight dynamic, pv has naughty thoughts, pv loves them possessive, knight!reader is a tad oblivious to pvâs feelings/their own sex appeal, might be a little ooc (sorry)
Ship: Pure Vanilla x Knight!Reader
â ïž MINORS DO NOT READ â ïž
I imagine that he has been pining for a while, his mind drifting to you and your loyal, endearing mannerisms as his hands reach to pathetically grope and tease himself when he canât seem to find sleep late at night. Itâs appalling to him! How could he possibly imagine you, his most virtuous and faithful knight, in ways that are so explicit he canât even bear to utter a word of it to anyone? Not even to his closest friends? Heâs absolutely ashamed, vowing to never allow himself to take advantage of you like that in any lifetime.
It doesnât help his situation when heâs suddenly attacked by a group of cloaked assassins, blades sharpened and ready to take down the monarch of the Vanilla Kingdom. But there you are, ever his knight in shining Vanillian armor, longsword in hand as you start defending your king like itâs your lifeâs greatest purpose.
Your king.
Pure Vanilla shudders at the thought of you claiming him as your own, the vision of your enchanting eyes peering down at him as your lithe fingers circle his soul-jam before trailing further down his trembling bodyâŠ
Get ahold of yourself, Pure Vanilla!
It reaches a point in battle where too many of the enemies seem to be regaining their strength at concerning speeds, forcing you to take hold of his hand and rush through the streets of the Vanilla Kingdom. Some other knights, that had jumped into action earlier to help you, continue fighting them off to prevent them from chasing after the two of you, but it seems like a few had managed to break free and rush after you.
Heading into the forest in the hopes of losing them, you dodge and weave through the plentiful trees and shrubs until your escape comes to an end. A trap hole that had been disguised by a thick, leafy cover was the unfortunate barrier as Pure Vanilla slips in and tumbles down; bringing you with. One of your arms shoot down and wrap around his waist as the other reaches for the wall in an attempt to dig your fingers into the dirt and slow your fall, which works to a certain degree as you two land a bit softer than he had imagined.
He manages to let out a groan before your hand quickly covers his mouth, effectively silencing any more noises of pain. His eyes widen as he watches you lean your head down, feeling your breath gently brush against his cheek.
âSilence, mâlord. Wait for them to leave,â your whisper caresses his ear and sends a shockwave down his back. He nods obediently and the two of you wait patiently, hearing footsteps close to your area but never coming near the hidden hole. A few minutes pass before you hear the assassinsâ footsteps again, this time retreating further into the woods in an attempt to find their target.
Youâre in the clear. You let out a sigh of relief, glad to have lost the bastards while Pure Vanilla is preoccupied with the startling realization of the position you have landed in.
âTheyâre gone, thank the witches.â You glance down at the king with a grimace, âMy apologies. This is such a tight space, I shall try to figure a way out of here soon, mâlord.â
âI-Itâs alright, youâre not hurt, are you?â His throat feels horribly dry as he struggles to look you in the eyes, all of his nighttime thoughts coming in to burrow further in his mind. You have one leg over his hip while the other rests slightly under his thigh with your crotches grazing each other, though heâs not sure if you donât care or if you donât notice because you seem unbothered by your position.
âI should be asking you that, my liege. It is unfortunate that you ended up falling first,â you shift your hips a bit and a zing of pleasure has him digging his nails into the dirt beneath him.
âHmm? Whyâs that?â Your eyebrows seem to furrow at his words while Pure Vanillaâs vision swims, it takes a good portion of his willpower to not buck up against your pleasant heat.
âI am a bit armored, sir. The landing wouldâve been far less painful for me than it was for you,â a look of concern crosses your features. âDid you hit your head? You look quite dazed, mâlord.â
âI-Iâm fine, just a little frazzled from all that transpired.â He feels guilty for being a tad bit untruthful, a nagging sensation gripping his brain and soul jam, but there is no way he could tell you just how badly he wanted to tear you apart right now. How he wanted to feel your thighs tighten around the sides of his head as you ride his face, your juices messily smeared down his chin and cheeks. Or, witches forbid, how he needed to feel you cream around his cock as you whine out your devotion to him.
âIâll have the palace doctors check on you once we get back just to be sure, youâre looking flushed. Intensely so,â you take your glove off and press the back of your hand against the side of his face before recoiling in shock. âYouâre scorching! Iâll have to be quick, just sit tight, your highness.â
He nods his head as he watches you pull your glove back on before getting to work trying to untangle your limbs, your hips moving occasionally as you test which position would free you both. This feels like a test of sanity to him, every movement has you practically grinding yourself against him and he swears you are doing it on purpose. Yet the focused expression on your face says otherwise, your intentions are purely to try and crawl out of this witch forsaken hole.
One particular shift of your leg has him biting his tongue HARD in order to shut down the whimper that begs to be let loose, his brain screaming that he needs to be out of this dirt coffin already or else heâs going to cum in his pants.
âI know this canât be too comfortable, my liege.â You give him an empathetic smile, âIf any of my movements are causing you harm please let me know.â Fuck, why do you have to speak to him in such a tender tone? He flashes you a smile of his own, though at this moment he feels like a monster baring its teeth at innocent prey.
âI am just grateful I had you with me. Your skills have aided me more times than I can count,â he canât help but notice the way you seem to beam proudly at his statement.
âOf course! Because my oath I took those years ago will always remain true: I will fight until my dying breath to keep my king safe!â
Oh fuck.

Exhausted, Papyrus fell on his knees in the dust. It was covering everything in the room, from the floor to the ceiling. The main door was gone, like most of the windows. Thankfully, no monster tried to enter the balcony, too high. Papyrus crawled to pick up the door, still in one piece by some miracle, and put it in its place. The hinges were gone with a part of the wall, but he forced it to hold by nailing it with some planks that held the windows closed and was now on the floor.
He picked up his phone, hidden deep in his armor. His hands were still shaking with the adrenaline. Sans left about twenty messages, asking if he was fine, then warning him Frisk was gone, then asking him again if he was alright, more and more distressed as the hours went by.
Papyrus simply sent: "Alive. Frisk here." before walking to the kitchen to make sure the child was fine. Several bullets ricocheted against the closet door, but it faced the brunt efficiently. He cleared the chairs out of the way and opened the door, maybe too brutally.
Frisk screamed out of terror and threw themselves in the back of the cabinet. They curled up on themselves, hands on the head, sobbing uncontrollably. They were shaking as well.
Papyrus flinched. He saw himself at five years old, in the same position, as Sans was screaming and fighting for their lives in the living room. This was not a world to grow up. No child should ever be born in this hellish place. Bitter, he felt his soul squeezed painfully. It was his fault. He should have brought the child back to the Ruins. Frisk shouldn't have assisted to any of this.
The skeleton kneeled at their level. He never had been really talented to comfort people.
"Frisk? It's over, they're gone. You can come out."
He leaned a hand towards the human. Frisk kicked it away and tried to get as far as they could from him in the closet. Papyrus tried to stay neutral, but his face betrayed for a few seconds how much it hurt him. He didn't want Frisk to be scared of him. Not after everything they went through to protect them.
The skeleton looked around for a second and noticed a hole in the closet door. Small, but enough for a child to witness everything that happened outside. Frisk saw him slaughter attackers and end monsters on the floor without mercy. Papyrus felt guilty. He gave the child some space and sat in front of the closet, unsure what to do.
No Weakness, Chapter 3.
_______________________________________
Hello, hello!
I commissioned this masterpiece to @seirindono, a French (yeah, team French!) illustrator who works on a multi AU universe called The Missing Scarf, which is a banger. Really cool comic with lots of great characters that you really want to read. Go read it!
I wasn't sure on which fic I wanted a drawing at first, but since we already got one for Horrortale: Rotten Apple (thanks again Zeragii, love you), why not No Weakness?
It's a post-pacific Underfell fic where instead of breaking the Barrier, Sans refused Frisk to fight Asgore and brought them back in safety to Toriel. Now Papyrus, Undyne, Alphys, Mettaton, Toriel and Sans are hiding the child away, trying not to get killed.
The story however is about Undyne and Papyrus' friendship. After Papyrus surprises Undyne kissing Asgore, he is promoted to general of the Royal Guard. Except Papyrus knows something is really wrong here, since that role was obviously supposed to Undyne's. But the more he tries to understand, the more people try to dissuade him from learning more. All the hints lead to Asgore, but how to reach the monarch without getting himself killed, and by extension, those he cares the most about? Between his duty and his friendship, Papyrus will have to make a choice.
I asked for one of my favorite parts ever, which is the moment Frisk realizes how things really work in Underfell, after witnessing Papyrus committing carnage right after he got promoted to General. It's tradition :D
Anyway, if you want to read the story, it's right here. I'm on summer break right now, but new chapters are coming soon!
Thanks again to Seirindono for their amazing work, I love it so much <3 Really great artist, don't hesitate to commission them! They're really nice and pays great attention to details. It was really cool collaborating with you <3
Go send them some love!

You knew the minute Satoru stepped into the bedroom that he was not happy.
Even with the blindfold on, the frown on his half-exposed face made his displeasure obvious from the doorway. He pulls down the blindfold with one hand, brilliant blue eyes piercing straight into your soul. If you were anyone else, you'd be afraid of his deathly cold stare. But because you two have been dating for a while now, you knew him well. Right now, your boyfriend is just being dramatic.
"What the hell is this?" Satoru says, glaring at the smiling plushie in your arms. "You're cheating on me in our own home?"
You smile, hugging the plushie tightly to your chest. "It's Cinnamoroll!"
Satoru eyes the Cinnamoroll plushie in your arms with disdain, as if he's contemplating which cursed technique would be best for eliminating him. The entire shared bedroom has been filled to the brim with Cinnamoroll plushies of varying sizes. "Did you really have to bring your whole collection when you moved in?"
"Of course!" you exclaim, offended at the very notion of abandoning your precious collection. You tilt your head, resting your cheek against the top of Cinnamoroll's head. The plushie sinks at the pressure, squishing against your face cutely. "I could never abandon my first love."
Satoru frowns. "So you're not even trying to deny it?"
The Cinnamoroll in your arms has a smug expression on its face with its eyes closed, its w-shaped mouth, and the little blush on each cheek. You can tell it's bothering Satoru. You decide you want to tease him. You squeeze it gently, bringing your knees up to your chest, curling closer to Cinnamoroll as if he's your lover. You bat your eyelashes at Satoru in a faux show of innocence. "What? Are you jealous?"
"Yes!" Satoru replies, admitting his irritation readily. He snatches one of the Cinnamorolls off the dresser with one hand, choking it by the neck. The Cinnamoroll plush is unaffected of course, smiling blissfully at Satoru with blue eyes similar to his. He waves the plushie around. "What does he have that I don't?"
"Hm," you hum, pretending to think for a short moment. "He's cute, energetic, cheerfulâ"
"Oi oi oi." Satoru clicks his tongue, tossing the plushie aside onto the floor. He strides over to you, resting one knee on the mattress and one hand on the headboard of the bed. He leans closer, towering over you, tall and gangly and all-encompassing. "I have all of those traits and more! I have blue eyes and white hair. I'm rich, handsome, tallâ"
"Annoying," you interrupt, poking Satoru in the cheek for every item you add to his list. "Jealous, workaholic, yapper, bully, meanâ"
"These are lies," Satoru says, kicking off the other Cinnamorolls from the bed as he moves even closer, fully caging you against the headboard. "Slander, even. I demand a lawyer."
"Hey! Don't hurt him!"
A little growl escapes from Satoru's throat, dark and foreboding. "Don't show affection for him!"
He tries to grab the Cinnamoroll plushie out of your arms. You wiggle to the left and to the right, curling up protectively around the plushie like an armadillo. "No! He's mine!"
"Ugh, break up with him already! It's just a stupid bunny," Satoru whines.
You gasp. "He's a dog! Get it right."
"That's clearly a bunnyâWait, I don't care what he is!" His chest bumps into your knees, the loose fabric of his shirt brushing against your legs. "You're mine, not his!"
You giggle. "You're so dramatic, Toru, getting all pouty and worked up over 'a stupid bunny' like you said."
"I am not pouting."
"You are definitely pouting."
Satoru stays silent for a moment, eyeing you like a stubborn, angry cat who has yet to be fed a good meal. Suddenly, he grabs your calves and drags your legs outwards, sliding you down the bed. You squeal at the sudden motion, powerless as Satoru grabs the plushie from your arms and carelessly throws it behind him. He lays on top of you with his full weight, his head resting on your chest and his arms snaking their way around your waist. "You're only allowed to cuddle with me like that."
You laugh, petting his soft white hair. You drag your fingertips across his undercut, the sensation pleasant against your skin. "You're so petty."
He tilts his head up, looking up at you all cute and needy and clingy. "It's not petty to want my girlfriend for myself. Stop cheating on me."
You roll your eyes. "It's not cheating."
"Yes it is! I'm gonna burn all of them tomorrowâ"
You grab his cheeks, pinching him. "Don't you dare! I'll kill you."
"Owieeeee," Satoru whines. "You're so mean to me."
You let go, gently caressing the area you pinched. He leans into your hand, your touch. You sigh and shake your head with a smile, wondering how you landed yourself such a pathetic man. "I only keep Cinnamoroll for when you're not around, alright? He's my side piece."
"Well, I'm here now," Satoru huffs, burying his face in your chest. "So I don't want to see him anywhere near you. You should only look at me."
"Okay, you big baby, I'll keep all my attention on you," you reply, hugging him. You take a second to notice his warmth, his weight. You close your eyes, appreciating the way he sinks into your body like he wants to be one with you, like he never wants to be away from you. Then, you open your eyes and smirk. "...For now."
Satoru glares at you. "I will burn those stupid plushies. Don't test me."
You laugh, loud and obnoxious. Satoru gaze softens. He squeezes you tightly, committing the sound of your laughter to memory. Silently, he makes a promise to make sure he's always around so you never have to rely on those damn plushies again. He'll never allow anyone to steal you away from him, even if he has to fight a dumb cartoon bunny to keep you to himself.

Hi, I was wondering⊠could you write a scenario/one-shot with the player Player(Reader) where instead of the final battle with Doey we manage to calm him down and comfort him after Safe Haven was destroyed.
idk I just want to hug the Dough Boy
Ngl I had this one requested to me by like 5 people. So here's that much-needed fix it fic <3
.........
Hearing the distant screaming of who you could only assume was Doey, you rushed through the tunnel with a pounding heart.
You've never felt more terrified than you did right now.
Not long after killing the Doctor, the Prototype decided to make his move and lay waste to the Safe Haven. Ollie alerted you to the situation and told you how to repair the generator while Doey and the others fended off the outside threat.
Then you headed down to the foundation at Poppy's insistence, setting up the explosives you collected and eventually running into the doughman again within the caves.
He seemed utterly confused, having been chasing the Prototype away from Safe Haven...
Only to realize too little too late that was his intention all along..
An explosion suddenly rocked the sanctuary, prompting the two of you to rush back to see how bad the destruction was. It took you a while to get there considering your limitations as a human wearing a grabpack, so you could only imagine what Doey was seeing to make him scream that loudly.
When you finally made it through the infirmary, past a handful of Mini Smiling Critter corpses, your heart sunk into the pit of your stomach, horrified at the scene before you:
The decrepit yet colorful place the toys once found safety in...was totally reduced to rubble. Small fires burned all around you---and in the midst was a little Bobby Bearhug, who Doey was currently grieving over.
They might have been a nuisance to you in the playhouse, but these ones--the ones who refused to give into their savagery during the Hour of Joy--were innocent little souls. Doey had sworn to protect them over the years, keeping them sheltered from the outside..
And in an instant, they were gone.
All of them.
Because he wasn't there.
"I'm sorry...I'm so, so sorry." He choked out, seemingly unaware of your presence. "I failed you. I was never what any of you needed. I-I was only made to hurt things. My fault...my fault..." With a small sob, he brought his hands to his face.
You were utterly devastated, too.
How could this happen?
How could you let that damn machine trick you?
"Doey, I'm..." You stepped forward, only to freeze as he suddenly turned to you, now eerily silent.
The look in his big hollow eyes...was nothing short of pure anger.
"Hurt...everything hurts." He snarled, his nubby fingers balled up into fists. "Hurt back. ALWAYS hurt back. Parents. Scientists. Everyone! Have to-"
His body experienced a tremor, and he now looked utterly grief-striken once more, his voice now sounding depressed and weepy. "My friends! He killed my friends!" He sobbed, wiping at his tears.
At first you wondered what was going on with him, until you remembered the tapes and notes you've gathered throughout your journey--quite a handful discussed his time as an experiment and how he came to be, well, Doey.
Apparently the mad scientists here had the brilliant idea to take three children--boys to be precise--and blend them into one 900 pound pile of dough and bring it to life, thinking that nothing could possibly go wrong.
One of them, Kevin, had anger issues that drove him to become violent towards other children--even those who were his friends. The other was Matthew, who seemed to be the calmest and most mature, and the one you've most likely been talking to this whole time. Then there was Jack, a very young kid who fell into a dough mixer and was forced to become part of Doey as some "life-saving" measure.
Had it not been for the information you discovered, you never would've understood what was happening to the toy you've allied yourself with.
But now you realize he was unstable.
Because of the sheer trauma of Safe Haven's destruction.
"You. It all started with you." Doey pointed at you accusingly, Kevin dominating the conversation once more. "You and her...IT WAS YOU WHO RUINED EVERYTHING!!" He screamed.
"What?" Your eyes went wide, horrified that he'd blame you for all of this. "No, that's...you seriously think this was all my fault?! I had no idea this was going to happen!"
"LIAR!! You two led him to us." He growled. "You shouldn't have come back...NEVER SHOULD HAVE COME BACK!!"
His body wriggled once more, with Matthew trying his best to stay in control, afraid of what he'd might do. "No, no. That's not true. They jumpstarted the generator, they--" He smacked the side of his head, and he was lost again, Kevin's rage being too overbearing. "DESTROYED EVERYTHING!! I'LL KILL YOU!!!"
'No..no, no, no...' You panicked internally, slowly backing away as you saw sharp orange teeth starting to break through his mouth. 'Please, god..don't make me hurt another one...'
Why did this have to happen again?
You were so, so tired of having to fight.
After he saved you from Pianosaurus, made his sanctuary a home to you, and kept you smiling throughout your trip inside this hellhole....it was now going to come down to either you or him walking away alive?
In a blind rage, Doey's enlarged fist swung at a concrete pillar beside him, and as it crumbled....so did the ceiling above him that was barely supported by that single pillar.
Now nothing could stop the rubble from crashing down onto him--
Except for you and your quick thinking, using both grabpack hands to grip his arms and drag him towards you with all your might. Upon release, you jumped back as he fell to the ground, looking to see the massive pile of debris he would've been buried under.
It made you feel relieved, afraid of what might've become of him.
"You...why did you do that? You think that makes you a hero?!!"
Before you could blink, Doey suddenly had you in his grasp, holding you up high in the air with both hands, itching to crush you and eat you alive. "WHY DID YOU DO THAT?!!" His features began distorting, looking more reptilian in nature. "I said I'd kill you!! KILL EVERYONE WHO HURTS ME!!!"
For a brief moment, you thought you saw a few pairs of glowing red eyes within his widening mouth, but they quickly retreated--except for one angry-looking set.
Yet you stared at them, your resolve unwavering. "You're an idiot, you know that?"
"....what?" He was shocked by your cold answer, and that only fueled his outrage. "IDIOT?! I'M NOT THE IDIOT!! YOU'RE THE IDIOT!!!"
"Don't you get it?! This is exactly what the Prototype wants! He wants to see us fight and tear each other apart! Destroy whatever unity we had left!" You snapped, despite your voice trembling. "You think I wanted this to happen?! You think I wanted Poppy to drag me into this mess?!"
"......."
"I only came here because of a stupid note. From somebody I knew who claims they're still alive. But...they can't be. I was tricked by him. I tried to leave, but Poppy...she redirected the train that was my only way out of here, saying I'm "the only one" who can help her...but I never wanted that responsibility, Doey."
For once, "Kevin" remained silent, although he still had you in his clutches. But he looked surprised to hear that she took away your chance at escaping this place.
She never mentioned that to him.
She only said you came willingly..
"Something's not right with her. You know it. I know it. And I'm sure Kissy knows it even if she can't tell us. We've all felt used by her. To do the dirty work that somehow keeps bringing the Prototype closer to us."
"...you could have talked her out of it.." He finally responded. "Yet you...you went along with her plan anyway. YOU KILLED THEM!! KILLED MY FRIENDS!! Our friends.." Jack briefly returned, sniffling. "T-They thought you were good...they thought you were nice..I-I thought Poppy was, too."
"I know, and I'm sorry. I should have heard you out. I had no idea it was gonna lead to all of this. I swear to god..I didn't know.." You sighed shakily, hoping he'd be willing to listen to reason. "You have every right to blame me. But..we can't let them die in vain. The Doctor's gone, so all we have to do is get to him. But first...I need you to put me down."
"......"
"Please, Doey. I don't care if you hate me for this. I don't expect your forgiveness. Let's just....kill the Prototype..and you can do whatever you want to me afterwards. I'm tired of fighting people I've come to see as friends. I've got enough blood on my hands."
At first, it seemed like all your attempts at resolving this without violence were futile, as he was just breathing raggedly, like he were an animal who was too far gone.
But then you saw his features twitch, resembling what they were before. His eyes also had that familiar sad look to them, indicating Matthew had somehow regained full control--at least for the moment.
"I..." He sniffled, setting you down on the ground. "I'm sorry. We--I was just...so hurt by what happened. And....And I just looked for somebody to blame. I shouldn't have lashed out. I shouldn't have-"
"Hey, it's okay, Doey. I know you didn't mean it." You reassured him, happy he returned to his senses, before you turned around to see that same Mini-Bobby still laying on the floor, who somehow didn't get crushed by the rubble.
Without saying a word, you crouched down to pick up the little Smiling Critter, cradling her despite the blood. You saw a piece of playmat that managed to survive the explosion. Although it wasn't much, it was better than her laying on the ash-ridden concrete, so you decided to set her down on it.
Doey just looked on in silence, removing his hat as a show of respect, still mulling over his angry words and how he threatened your life.
There's no way you could have predicted the Prototype's next move.
Then, as though a miracle were sent from above...Mini-Bobby suddenly gasped, coming back to life.
Both of you were initially shocked, although you were quick to comfort her as she coughed a few times, smoking clogging her senses. "Hahh..gah..wh-what happened?" She hoarsely asked, seeing you two and the surrounding flames, before it all clicked. "The Safe Haven...it's..."
"I'm sorry. It's no more." You frowned a little, helping her sit up. "Go through that tunnel and stay quiet. I'll be there to retrieve you. Just keep yourself away from all this smoke."
She nodded managing to get up and limp towards the tunnel you came from.
Doey was astonished. "Bu....But I thought..she...."
"Looks like not everybody perished. There might be more survivors-" You turned back to face him.....only to get engulfed by his arms, and for a moment you thought Kevin returned and was about to crush you like a grape.
Until you heard loud sobbing and felt his entire body tremble, realizing it was Jack instead, and your relief returned.
"There, there, big guy." You hugged him back, smiling sadly. "You're okay. We're gonna get through this together. He'll pay for what he's done to our friends. I'll make sure of it."
"I-I don't wanna be here anymore..I just want mommy...a-and daddy..." He cried.
"I know. I don't wanna be here, either. We're gonna find a way out."
"...I'm so sorry. I-I didn't mean to get so angry.."
"I know you didn't. I forgive you."

I THUNKED A THOUGHT! Because of Jotaro's stoic and reserved nature he is most likely not into PDA, HOWEVER. What if he used his stand instead? It's not public, and non standusers can't see stands!
So with that information, may I request hcs for part 3 joot giving PDA to gn s/o through Star Plat?
Jotaro showing affection with the help of Star Platinum headcanons
Author's Note: YES! I love it when some ideas I once had get requested, it feels like we're sharing the same neuron. Thank you so much for this. I love Joot and Star Plat, big cuties. I hope I got it right and you'll enjoy!
- Once you accept this type of affection, you'll discover that Star Platinum is a very clingy Stand to the ones Jotaro cares for. And Star Platinum, much like his owner, has no shame but the difference is that his Stand doesn't grasp the concept of PDA, he's just happy to be able to express his attachment to Jotaro and you.
- It starts with Star Platinum staring at you with big eyes whenever he's around you, almost scaring you as you turn around and see him like that. He is a simple warrior Stand who likes to stare at pretty things and people, don't mind him.
- From the beginning, we know that Star Platinum manifested to help Jotaro but he was rejected as a protector and pictured as an "evil spirit" instead. Seeing how Jotaro didn't accept his presence at first, Star started spoiling him by bringing everything Jotaro liked. Expect him to do that to you as well. Snacks, flowers, things he things you enjoy.
- Jotaro will scold Star Platinum for spoiling you like that but that's all. He doesn't tell him to stop though, realizing how this might be a good compensation for his lack of PDA. He can't help but sigh and let it happen.
- Star Platinum does whatever Jotaro wants and is a softie so once he gets the green light from Jotaro, get ready for affection. You won't notice it but before any move, Star asks Jotaro for permission. For example, if he wants to hold your hand, he points at your hand, looking back at Jotaro until he nods and gets the sign that it's alright to touch your hand.
- Whenever Jotaro feels his hands itching to touch you while you are in public, he'll just have to stare at you until Star Platinum understands what he has to do. He feels your warmth through his Stand's touch and he's pleased.
- Jotaro rolls his eyes at everything. He thinks that Star Platinum is going soft because of you. But guess what? Everyone knows that a Stand is an extension, a manifestation, of the soul and that only means that deep down in his soul, Jotaro craves giving you this kind of affection but doesn't allow himself to show it to you just yet.
- Star considers you a part of Jotaro since he notices how much he cares about you and how much he feels about you. So, whenever you're in danger, he's there, protecting you just like he protects Jotaro. Above all affection, you feel protection from him the most.
- Other stand users are going to be petrified when they see Jotaro's tall frame and intense look on his face next to you and a huge-looking purple Stand looming over you from behind while you're there just smiling, minding your business. You're going to have scary dog privileges with both of them.
- Star Platinum's favorite way of being around you is by having his large arms around your torso from behind. (a bit similar to the gif I attached)
- Jotaro notices that you enjoy this affection so he keeps it going in public until he's alone with you and it's his turn to be affectionate without the help of Star Platinum.
