[behind the scenes of writing Two Hearts Could Be One]:
ok if Asbel ends up being the one who kills Cedric that's important I think that'd weigh on his conscience so I should try to have at least one scene acknowledging that maybe let him talk with Richard abt it but hmm I didn't leave much room in the plot here for extra stuff maybe they can discuss it while helping Richard get ready for the coronation oh that's right Richard's injured he probably needs help getting dressed for it and I can draw parallels between the wound Richard has now and the one Asbel got at Wallbridge and wait am I seriously planning a scene where Asbel sensually undresses Richard while talking about the man he killed on his behalf jesus christ you two stop turning this into a romance 😩

What to Know Before Hiring a Commercial Drafting Company
A commercial drafting company creates drafts for commercial buildings. This time we’re talking about skyscrapers, office buildings, stores, and everything you might find in a commercial area. The commercial buildings structure is a bit more complicated than residential ones but at the same time, they are more durable too.

White Horse - Chapter 26: July 2024 - Part 1
Pairing: Max Verstappen x Isabelle Leclerc (Original Character)
Summary:
Max Verstappen is a World Champion. Isabelle Leclerc is invisible.
She watched her family give up everything for Charles’ career—Arthur’s karting, their father’s savings, even her childhood horse. She understood. She never asked for more.
But Max does. He notices the things no one else does, listens when no one else will, and puts her first in ways she never imagined. With him, she isn’t an afterthought—she’s a choice. And for the first time, she realizes she doesn’t have to be invisible.
Warnings and Notes:
we have now moved on from Charles bashing to bashing his whole family, Discussions of toxic past relationships, talk about loosing a childhood pet, toxic families, mention of the loss of a parent.
As always big thanks to @llirawolf , who listens to me ramble

The conference room was sleek and quiet — all minimalist design, smooth wood, and muted light. The floor-to-ceiling windows looked out over Monaco’s marina, but Belle barely registered the view. Her hands were folded neatly in her lap, one leg crossed over the other, Max’s knee brushing hers beneath the table like a silent anchor.
Belle sat beside Max at a long table in a private meeting room, her hands folded carefully in her lap. The lawyer — a tall, gentle-voiced woman named Monique with sharp eyes and an expensive watch — smiled politely as she turned the final page of a stack of documents.
She had known about the pregnancy since Max had called last week and said, “We need to make sure she’s protected. Properly.”
It hadn’t been dramatic. There were no tears. No whispered breakdowns.
Just Max, calm and steady, saying "my wife is having our child, and I want everything in place if I don’t come home."
And Belle had agreed. Because love like theirs wasn’t made of denial.
It was made of preparation.
 Monique spoke first.
“I’ve drafted the new will, updated with the marriage registration and the preliminary trust structure for the baby.” She slid a folder across the table to Max. “It’s standard language, but I can walk you through it.”
Max nodded. “Let’s do that.”
Belle glanced at the page — her name in clean legal font at the top. It still startled her sometimes. Isabelle Verstappen. A name that felt more like a promise than a title.
Monique continued, calm and clear. “Everything’s been updated as requested. The property title adjustment will be processed this week, and the new will reflects both your marriage and the pending addition to your family. In the event of Max’s death, Belle inherits all real estate assets, including the Monaco apartment, She also has controlling interest in the holding companies and exclusive guardianship of the child. There is a clause allowing her to appoint a secondary guardian if needed, and a separate financial trust to be accessed at her discretion for the child’s care.”
Belle’s fingers tensed slightly on her notebook.
Max reached under the table, slid his hand into hers.
Monique continued. “You both now hold medical power of attorney for one another. In the event of a serious injury or incapacitation, decisions will legally fall to the surviving spouse. The trust for the child will be activated upon birth and can be revised at any time.”
Belle blinked. “You’ve already set up a trust?”
Max nodded beside her. “I wanted it in place before they got here.”
Monique smiled. “It’s not uncommon for high-risk professions.”
High-risk. Belle hated that word.
Monique glanced at Max. “There’s a healthcare proxy included as well. You’ve named your wife as the sole decision-maker if you’re incapacitated.”
He didn’t hesitate. “Of course.”
Belle didn’t speak for a moment. Just breathed. Absorbed.
Because here it was. In print. In contracts and clauses and notarized certainty.
This man — who drove faster than anyone else on earth — was handing her the most fragile parts of his life and saying I trust you.
Not out of fear.
But out of love.
Monique gave them a moment before gently flipping to the next document. “There’s just one more point of discussion — guardianship, in the event that… well, neither of you are able to care for your child.”
Belle straightened.
“Obviously we don’t need an answer right this second,” Monique added, professional but kind. “But it’s something we do recommend including in advance. Just in case.”
Belle didn’t hesitate.
“Victoria and Tom.”
Max glanced at her, surprised.
“They already have three kids,” she said softly. “Their home is overflowing with love. Lio and Luka would be like big brothers. Hailey a big sister. ”
Max looked at her for a long moment — not surprised, just… moved.
“Okay,” he said, quietly, final. “Victoria and Tom.”
Monique made a quiet note, then gathered the papers. “That’s all for today. You’re welcome to take copies home, review anything again, but legally — everything’s in place.”
Belle signed.
Her name — Isabelle Verstappen — in clean, looping ink at the bottom of the page. Not to take something away. But to build something forward.
Belle hesitated. “Is there… anything else?”
Monique raised an eyebrow gently. “Such as?”
Belle glanced down at her lap. “I thought Max might… want me to sign something else.”
Silence.
Then, Max’s hand slid over hers beneath the table. “You mean a prenup?”
Belle nodded once.
Monique blinked, surprised. “There’s nothing of the sort, Belle. That was never discussed.”
Belle looked at Max, who met her eyes steadily.
“I didn’t marry you with conditions,” he said simply. “What’s mine is yours. What’s ours is already half your idea anyway.”
Belle stared at him for a second — stunned, soft, wrecked.
Then she cleared her throat. “Okay. That’s… not what I expected. But okay.”
When it was done, Monique gathered the documents, promising scans and copies by end of day.
The room emptied, polite and efficient.
Belle stayed seated.
Max didn’t move either.
She finally turned to him. “That felt…”
“Big?” he offered.
She nodded.
“But good,” she added, quieter now. “Because this is ours. Our life. Our family. Even the scary parts.”
Max kissed her temple. “That’s why we’re here.”
Her hand found his on the table, fingers lacing together.
“I hope none of it ever matters,” she whispered.
He looked down at their names on the signed pages.
“It already does,” he said.

***
The therapy room was quiet in the way only tension could make it — not peaceful, but primed. A silence that hummed with everything unsaid, everything tiptoed around for years.
Belle sat on the edge of the sofa, hands clasped tightly in her lap, her pulse thrumming just beneath her skin like a warning. Every muscle in her body was taut — trying to hold everything in place. Her blouse, loose by design, felt suddenly too tight across her chest. She hadn’t been sleeping. She hadn’t eaten lunch. There was a dull ache in her temples, a sharper one behind her ribs.
Max was beside her.
He hadn’t spoken.
He hadn’t even moved, aside from the occasional brush of his thumb against hers.
But his presence was solid. Anchoring. The one thing in this room that didn’t make her feel like she had to prove she belonged.
Across from her, her family sat arranged like a tableau of old fractures: Pascale, elegant but weary, lips pressed tightly together; Arthur, fidgeting in his chair, worry written into the curve of his brow; Lorenzo, arms folded like a gate; and Charles — the one who hadn’t looked at her properly once since she’d walked in.
Camille, the therapist, smiled gently. “Thank you all for being here. We’re here to listen first. Belle, since you asked for this session, would you like to begin?”
Belle nodded, throat tight. “I don’t expect this to fix everything. But I wanted to give you a chance to hear me. I’ve felt invisible for a long time. And I know that might not have been your intention, but it doesn’t make it less real.”
She paused.
No one spoke.
She added, voice quiet but edged in iron: “And I’m not here to be blamed for how I coped with that.”
That was when Charles finally looked up. “Then maybe he shouldn’t be here.”
Max didn’t move.
Belle’s grip on his hand tightened.
Camille interjected gently. “Charles, we agreed to keep this space respectful—”
“Respectful?” Charles cut in, eyes flashing. “You brought him to a family session. The man who didn’t even tell me he married my sister. The one person guaranteed to turn this into a war.”
Belle’s voice cracked, quiet but firm. “Max is here because I want him here. He’s my family now. He supports me. He doesn’t speak over me or forget I exist unless it’s convenient.”
“You bring him here, like he has any right to sit in a family session—”
“Charles—” Camille began.
But he was already unraveling.
“—Like he didn’t make it worse. Like he didn’t encourage all of this—”
Belle flinched.
“Charles,” Max said, voice low but firm.
“You don’t get to talk—”
“Stop it!” Belle snapped, her voice breaking.
The sound echoed louder than shouting.
Everyone went still.
She stood — too quickly — and emotion spilled over before she could stop it. Her hands shook. Her breath hitched. Tears began streaming down her cheeks before she could blink them back.
“I invited him,” she said, trembling. “Because he’s the only one in this room who never made me feel like I had to earn his love. He didn’t ask me to shrink or wait or perform. He didn’t disappear until it was convenient to care again. He showed up.”
Arthur’s expression twisted with guilt. Pascale’s eyes filled with tears. Lorenzo exhaled like he’d been punched in the stomach.
“I tried for years to matter to you,” Belle whispered. “And when I finally stopped waiting, when I found something good, you acted like it was betrayal. It wasn’t. It was survival.”
But when Belle cried harder, silent and shaking, one hand pressed protectively to her stomach — a reflex now, a habit more than a choice — Max’s restraint cracked.
“Enough,” he said, voice sharp and fierce and final.
The entire room froze.
“This isn’t good for the baby.”
Everything. Stopped.
The silence that followed was different. Not tense — stunned. Heavy. Real.
Charles froze.
Pascale’s hand flew to her mouth.
Arthur blinked, mouth slightly open.
Lorenzo — unreadable, contained Lorenzo — lost every ounce of composure.
Belle sat, still breathing too fast, still cradling her abdomen like she didn’t even realize her hand was there.
“She’s crying in a therapist’s office because her own family forgot her,” Max said, his voice flat, controlled. “And she still came here hoping you’d be different. And you’re yelling at her like it’s her fault she stopped begging you to see her.”
“You—” Charles started.
Max’s eyes burned. “She’s pregnant. And this stress? This shouting? This guilt-tripping? It’s not just hurting her anymore. It’s hurting both of them.”
Real, stunned silence.
Belle covered her face with both hands, chest heaving.
Max moved instantly, kneeling beside her. “You didn’t do anything wrong,” he whispered. “You gave them a chance. That’s more than they deserved.”
Camille cleared her throat gently, measured but soft. “Belle… thank you for being honest. Max, thank you for saying what needed to be said.”
Belle shook her head, still too overwhelmed to speak. Her body ached with tension she hadn’t realized she was carrying.
Max didn’t let go of her.
He stood and turned to face them — not angry. Not cruel. Just done.
“She’s pregnant,” he repeated. “And she came here because she still believed you deserved the chance to be part of that. But if what you bring is more of this — more silence, more anger, more entitlement — then maybe she needs to stop giving chances to people who don’t know what to do with them.”
He sat beside Belle again, taking her hand in both of his.
She didn’t look up. She couldn’t. Her hand stayed curled over her belly, protective. Heartbroken.
Then, after a long, still moment—
“I didn’t know,” Charles said. Quiet. Shaken. “Isabelle, I didn’t… I swear, I didn’t know.”
“I know,” she whispered.“That’s the problem.”
More silence.
Then Pascale wiped at her eyes, voice shaking. “I want to be part of this. Not just the baby. You. I want to do better.”
Arthur nodded. “I will. I already started. But I’ll do more. Whatever you need.”
Lorenzo’s voice was hoarse. “You shouldn’t have had to say any of that alone.”
Camille waited. Then softly, “This is where it begins. Not with fixing. But with listening. With staying.”
Belle finally looked up.
Still hurt. Still guarded.
But in her eyes — something softened.
She didn’t say I forgive you.
She said something truer.
“You have a long way to go,” Belle said, voice rough.“But you’re here. That’s a start.”
***
By the time they got home, Belle hadn’t said a word.
Max didn’t push. He unlocked the door, opened it for her, let her walk through the apartment at her own pace. She moved like someone underwater — slow, dazed, like her body had been hollowed out.
She didn’t even take off her shoes.
She just stood in the middle of their living room, arms limp at her sides, until Max gently touched her elbow.
“Sit,” he said softly. “I’ll get you water.”
But she didn’t sit.
She crumpled.
It wasn’t a fall — not all at once — but something slower, sadder. She sank down onto the rug like her bones had given out, hands covering her face, breath catching in her throat.
Then the sobs came.
Max was beside her in an instant, sinking to his knees, gathering her into his arms without a second’s hesitation.
She curled into him like she’d been waiting all day for it. Like she’d finally let herself feel everything she hadn’t let show in front of them.
And Max—Max held her like he never intended to let go.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered into her hair, one hand stroking her back, the other cradling her head as she buried her face into his chest. “God, Belle. I’m so sorry.”
She shook her head against him, but he kept going.
“I shouldn’t have said it like that,” Max said, voice rough. “Not like that. I should’ve asked. I should’ve let you decide.”
Belle didn’t answer — not in words — but she held him tighter, and that was enough.
She cried for a long time.
Not loud. Not dramatic.
Just steady.
Heartbroken.
Max held her through all of it. Through the shaking, the ragged breathing, the muffled apologies she tried to whisper into his shoulder. He didn’t correct her. Didn’t argue. He just rubbed circles into her back and reminded her, again and again, in the softest voice he had:
“You didn’t do anything wrong.”
At some point, he coaxed her into bed. She resisted, groggy and stubborn through the haze of exhaustion, but eventually let him pull back the covers and tuck her in. She wore his hoodie — one of the big, soft ones — and it swallowed her. Her hand still rested over her stomach as she lay on her side, eyes red and barely open.
Max kissed her temple, her forehead, her hand. He didn’t leave her side until her breathing evened out and she finally slipped into sleep.
Then — and only then — did he let himself move.
Quietly, he crossed the room to where his phone sat on the kitchen counter.
He didn’t text. Didn’t scroll.
He found the number for Belle’s doctor and sent a message requesting an appointment.
Tomorrow. Urgent if possible.
She hadn’t eaten all day.
She hadn’t slept properly in nearly a week.
And her crying tonight… it had shaken something in him.
She always carried things so quietly. Until she couldn’t anymore.
Max stood at the kitchen counter, staring down at his phone, still in his jeans and hoodie from earlier, and exhaled a breath he hadn’t realized he was holding.
He couldn’t make her family change.
But he could protect this.
Her.
Their baby.
He would make sure she was seen, cared for, and safe — even if it meant dragging the world into a quiet, burning rage to make it happen.
The phone buzzed with a confirmation.
Appointment: Tomorrow. 9:30 AM.
Max looked back toward the bedroom.
Belle was asleep, one arm curled under her pillow, still holding her stomach like a shield.
And Max made himself a promise.
They would never make her cry like that again.
Not while he was breathing.
***
The four of them sat in stunned silence.
The therapy room door had closed behind Belle and Max ten minutes ago, but no one had moved since. Camille had offered them space to process, and they’d taken it — not because they needed it, but because they didn’t know what else to do.
Charles sat with his hands clenched in his lap, staring at the floor like it had betrayed him. Pascale held a tissue tightly in one hand, face pale, mascara faintly smudged beneath her eyes. Lorenzo’s arms were crossed — his usual stoicism barely holding under the tension in his jaw.
And Arthur — the youngest— was pacing.
Charles finally broke the silence. “She’s pregnant.”
“Yes,” Arthur said flatly, not looking at him.
Charles blinked, still stunned. “She’s actually—she didn’t even tell us.”
“She didn’t owe us that,” Arthur snapped, turning to face them. “Not after everything.”
Pascale looked up. “Arthur—”
“No,” he said, sharper than they’d ever heard him. “No. I’m not doing this. We’re not going to sit here and act like we’re the wounded ones.”
“She should’ve told us,” Charles muttered. “We’re her family—”
Arthur rounded on him. “Then maybe we should’ve acted like it.”
That landed.
Charles looked up, startled.
Arthur laughed — a short, bitter sound. “You really don’t get it, do you? Belle spent years trying to be seen. Trying to be heard. Every time she did something good, we clapped for a second and then went back to talking about karting or my race result or whatever Charles was doing that week.”
“That’s not fair,” Charles said stiffly.
“No?” Arthur said, eyes narrowing. “Name where she was when she graduated top of her class. You remember what we sent her?”
Charles didn’t answer.
“Exactly,” Arthur snapped. “Nothing. We forgot. We forgot her birthday, Charles. And even then, she didn’t scream at us. She just stopped trying.”
“I didn’t mean to forget—”
“You didn’t mean to notice her, either,” Arthur said, quieter now. “But Max did.”
That silenced the room.
Arthur ran a hand through his hair, pacing again. “You know what gets me the most? She still gave us a chance. She walked in there, pregnant, vulnerable, and hoping maybe we’d finally show up. And what did we do?”
He looked at Charles.
“You shouted at her husband.”
He looked at Lorenzo.
“You stayed quiet until she was crying.”
Then he looked at Pascale.
“And you only spoke when Max said the word baby.”
Pascale’s lip trembled. “I didn’t know.”
“She didn’t trust us with it,” Arthur said, softer now. “And that’s the part that should scare you. Not Max. Not the secret wedding. Not the baby. The fact that she didn’t feel safe enough to tell us.”
Lorenzo exhaled slowly, some of the anger draining from his posture.
Charles looked like he’d been hollowed out.
“She was holding her stomach,” Pascale whispered. “Even when she cried, she—she protected the baby. From us.”
Arthur nodded. “Exactly.”
Silence again.
And then, for the first time in a long time, Arthur looked at them all — older brother, older brother, mother — and stood taller than he ever had.
“No one is making her cry like that again,” he said. “Not if I can help it.”
Charles swallowed hard. “So what do we do?”
Arthur’s jaw tightened. “You start by earning a place back in her life. Slowly. Without demands. Without entitlement. You show her you’ve changed. And if you haven’t? You step aside.”
No one argued.
No one could.
Because they’d all seen what Arthur had — a sister at the end of her rope, still trying to offer them grace.
And they’d nearly broken her again.
But maybe not completely.
Maybe, if they were lucky, there was still time to do better.
To be better.
To finally be family in the way Belle had deserved all along.
***
Belle woke to sunlight and silence.
Her eyes burned. Her head ached. Her throat felt tight from the hours she’d spent crying into Max’s chest the night before. For a long time, she just lay there — curled on her side, one hand resting against the soft curve of her stomach, the weight of the last twenty-four hours pressing against her skin like bruises she hadn’t earned.
Max wasn’t in bed.
That was the first thing she noticed.
But when she pushed back the covers and sat up, she could hear him. Low voices. The sound of him in the kitchen. Coffee brewing. Something being cut on a chopping board.
When she padded out into the hallway, Max looked up instantly.
“You’re awake,” he said gently. “How are you feeling?”
She blinked at him. He was already dressed — hoodie, jeans, hair still damp from a quick shower. He looked like he hadn’t slept, though she had no idea when he’d crawled into bed beside her. All she remembered was him holding her until her tears stopped.
“Tired,” she said honestly. “Drained. Like I fought a war in a hotel lobby.”
Max’s mouth twitched, but he didn’t smile. Not really. He poured her a glass of water and walked it over.
“You need to get dressed,” he said softly. “We’ve got an appointment at 9:30.”
Belle blinked. “Appointment?”
“With your OB.”
She stared at him. “You made a doctor’s appointment?”
Max looked… sheepish. In that way only Max Verstappen ever could — a little bit guilty, but completely unapologetic. “You were crying for over an hour. You didn’t eat. You didn’t sleep until after midnight. You kept holding your stomach like it hurt and I just—” He broke off, rubbing the back of his neck. “I need to be sure everything is okay. With you. With the baby.”
Something inside her cracked — not with annoyance, not even embarrassment, but with a kind of vulnerable affection that made her chest ache.
“I’m fine,” she said, quietly.
Max didn’t argue.
But he looked at her like fine would never be good enough again.
They left ten minutes later.
She wore leggings and one of Max’s hoodies, too tired to care. Her hair was in a bun, her face bare. Max had packed snacks and a water bottle in her bag like he was preparing for a cross-country drive. He opened the car door for her without a word. Held her hand at every red light.
The clinic was quiet when they arrived — not many patients that early. A nurse smiled at them, already familiar with Belle, and waved them through. Max never let go of her hand.
The doctor — kind, warm, sharp-eyed — asked gentle questions. Belle answered them all in a quiet voice.
“Any unusual cramping? Headaches? Nausea? Emotional stress?”
Belle glanced at Max, then gave a small, exhausted laugh. “Define unusual.”
The doctor smiled, then softened. “What you went through yesterday? It matters. Stress does affect the body, but you’re here now. We’ll check everything.”
And they did.
A blood pressure cuff. A blood draw. The gentle press of a fetal doppler wand against her stomach.
Then— The soft, rhythmic sound of a heartbeat.
Max’s fingers tightened around hers. He didn’t say anything. But when Belle looked at him — really looked — she saw it in his face: that fierce, wordless love that had carried her out of that therapy room and straight into this one.
The doctor smiled. “Heartbeat sounds perfect. Baby’s strong. And you’re doing better than you think.”
Belle let out a shaky breath she didn’t know she’d been holding.
Max pressed a kiss to her temple.
“I just wanted to be sure,” he whispered. “I couldn’t watch you cry like that and not do something.”
Belle closed her eyes.
Then, without even thinking about it, she rested her head against his shoulder and whispered:
“Thank you.”
Because it was more than an appointment.
It was a promise.

Gianni Vechio: Is it Verstappen or Mr. Leclerc now? Just checking.
Max (deadpan): I’m already regretting logging on.
Luke Bennett: You regret logging on? Imagine our shock when the paddock exploded because someone casually dropped a kiss in Parc Fermé like it was no big deal.
Max:  (muted chuckle) It was a race. I won. Belle was there. That’s all.

Chat: OMG IT’S HERMRS MAX IS REALSHE’S SO PRETTY WHAT THE HELLTHE HOODIE IS KILLING MEMAX MARRIED A QUEENINTERIOR DESIGN SLAYI CANNOT BREATHEMAX YOU ARE OUTKICKING YOUR COVERAGECHARLES CURRENTLY DEAD BECAUSE HIS SISTER IS WEARING RED BULL MERCH
Luke Crane: Okay. So first of all, Belle. Thank you for putting up with this idiot.
Belle: (drily.) He’s nothing to put up with. He’s something to treasure.
Gianni: We just wanted to say congratulations. And also... how did you keep it secret for this long?
Belle:  (shrugging): People only see what they want to see. We never hid it. We just didn’t make it obvious.
Chris: Oh my god she’s articulate. You really married up.
Max:  (soft, proud) Yeah. I did.
Belle:  (grinning, pressing a kiss to Max’s cheek, making him blush) Anyway. That’s enough fame for one evening. Bye boys.
[Belle exits frame. Max looks extremely smug.]
Max: You happy now?
Luke Crane: Beyond.
Chris: I still can’t believe you didn’t tell us.

Meanwhile on Twitter:
@/GridGossip:  MAX VERSTAPPEN’S WIFE JUST SHOWED UP ON TEAM REDLINE STREAM IN HIS HOODIE WITH A MUG OF TEA AND SAID “HE’S NOTHING TO PUT UP WITH: HE’S SOMETHING TO TREASURE.” I AM NOT OKAY.
@/TifosiTears:  CHARLES LECLERC IS FIGHTING FOR HIS LIFE AND HIS SISTER IS OUT HERE IN RED BULL MERCH KISSING MAX ON STREAM. I’M SCREAMING.
@/F1TeaSpiller So to recap: → Belle Leclerc kissed Max in Parc Fermé → Changed her name on IG → Is apparently married?? → Wore his hoodie on stream → And the grid is collectively feral. 10/10. No notes.
@/SoftLaunchSociety The Red Bull hoodie. The tea mug. The unbothered queen energy. Belle Verstappen didn’t soft launch — she hard dropped and said “you’ll catch up.”
@/RedBullUpdates: BELLE VERSTAPPEN WALKED INTO FRAME LOOKING COZY, SMUG, AND MARRIED. WE HAVE LOST CONTROL OF THE NARRATIVE.
@/FerrariPain:  charles leclerc when he realizes his sister wore red bull merch in 4k: 🧍‍♂️😐💔
@/WifeGuyMax: max verstappen grinning like a man who knows he married out of his league and then blushed when she kissed his cheek this is romcom content i never expected from sim racing
@/F1MemeLord: Team Redline: Show us your wife Max: She’s not gonna— Belle Verstappen, already wearing his hoodie and holding tea like a queen: Hi Me: this is better than Netflix
@/MonacoRoyalty: i want belle’s PR team forgotten by her family? married in monaco? red bull hoodie and soft lighting? KNEW exactly when to show up. this girl is PLAYING CHESS.
@/MaxEmotionsFan Max: (quietly, proudly) “Yeah. I did.” Me, in tears: and you DID, Max. he married his girl.
@/F1ChaosClub: charles leclerc forgot his sister’s birthday and now she’s on twitch in a red bull hoodie being called “queen” by 600,000 viewers. you literally could not write this better.
@/GridPsychics: prediction: Charles is currently pacing his Monaco apartment wondering if it's too late to be a supportive brother spoiler: it might be
@/F1FanFictionCentral plot twist: Max Verstappen wasn’t the emotionally unavailable villain. He was the surprise wife guy all along.
@/TifosiMeltdown:  Everyone’s like “awww Max and Belle are so cute 🥺” Meanwhile Charles Leclerc is living in the eighth circle of PR hell because his baby sister is in Red Bull merch on Twitch with his literal racing rival
@/SoftLaunchScholar: The Max & Belle reveal timeline is a case study:
Ignored birthday
Secret wedding
Parc Fermé kiss
Instagram name change
Twitch hoodie wife drop This is art.
@/F1Lorekeeper: The fact that Charles forgot Belle’s birthday and then found out she married Max Verstappen two weeks later
And now she’s drinking tea in Max’s stream wearing Red Bull gear
I genuinely think we’re watching a live sibling rivalry rewrite Greek tragedy @/MonacoRoyalty: Belle said “we didn’t hide it, you just weren’t looking” and the Leclerc family should NEVER recover from that
@/CharlesIsCrying: no because BELLE VERSTAPPEN appearing on stream in Red Bull merch while the internet still hasn’t healed from the forgotten birthday incident??
Charles is somewhere short-circuiting in real time
***
It was raining softly against the windows when Belle brought it up.
They were curled up on the sofa — Max in joggers and a hoodie, Belle tucked against his side with a blanket draped over her legs, her cheek resting on his chest. The television hummed quietly with some old documentary neither of them were watching. Max’s hand traced slow, absentminded circles against the bump that had started to become undeniable beneath the fabric of her sweatshirt.
“We should probably tell the rest soon,” Belle murmured.
Max didn’t answer right away. His fingers stilled, then resumed their gentle pattern.
“I know,” he said. “I just… don’t want it to turn into a thing.”
Belle lifted her head slightly to look at him. “Like… a press release thing? Photoshoot? Magazines? Perfect lighting and fake candids of us in a meadow somewhere?”
He let out a soft snort. “Can you picture me in a meadow?”
Belle smiled. “Only if you were holding a kitten and a baby goat.”
“Belle.”
“Okay, fine, just the baby goat.”
Max laughed into her shoulder, pressing a kiss there. “No photoshoots. No flower crowns.” He made a face. “No soft-focus, perfectly lit, black-and-white Instagram announcement with matching white outfits and hands shaped like a heart.”
She laughed softly, burying her nose in his shirt. “The horror.”
“I mean, unless you want that,” Max added quickly. “If you want that, I’ll do it. I’ll even wear linen.”
Belle looked up at him again, mock-serious. “Max, you’d rather crash into a gravel trap at Monaco than wear linen on purpose.”
“Correct.”
She smiled against his hoodie. “I just… I don’t want it to feel like I’m trying to prove something.”
“You don’t have to prove anything,” Max said, his voice low. Sure. “You’re pregnant. You’re my wife. That’s it.”
Belle glanced up at him. “You say that like it's simple.”
“It is.” He tilted his head a little, thoughtful. “So how do you want to do it?”
She shrugged. “Something honest. Quiet, but… real.”
Max was quiet for a beat. “You mean, like the wedding.”
Belle smiled. “Exactly like the wedding.”
He leaned forward and kissed the side of her head. “We can do quiet. That’s our specialty.”
She chuckled, then bit her lip. “I was thinking… what if we just posted a photo? Not even of us. Just a pair of tiny shoes on the coffee table and a caption like, ‘Coming soon.’”
Max grinned. “You want to break the internet again.”
“I want to give it to us first,” she said. “And let everyone else catch up later.”
Max looked at her like she hung the stars. “Deal.”
They sat in silence again, the kind that meant safety.
“I don’t need the whole world to know at once,” Belle murmured, her voice softening. “I just want to share it in a way that feels like us. Not a brand.”
Max pulled her closer, his hand still resting protectively over the bump neither of them could stop reaching for.
“Then that’s exactly what we’ll do.”

Text Messages:  Belle Verstappen & Emilie Abadie
Belle: Thinking of announcing the pregnancy before Silverstone.
Emilie: oh?? as in… telling the entire planet??
Belle: Yep. Before I start showing enough that people start whispering.
Emilie: You mean before more people start whispering You okay with going public?
Belle: I think so. We’ve been quiet long enough. Besides… Silverstone’s always a circus. May as well drop the baby news before the clowns arrive.
Emilie: Iconic behavior tbh Do I get a heads up before the post goes up so I can prepare emotionally
Belle: Of course. Also— You should come.
Emilie: To Silverstone??
Belle: Yes.
Emilie: Belle. That’s Lando’s home race.
Belle: And you like Lando.
Emilie: I do not like what this insinuation implies.
Belle: You like him. He adores you. Your flirting during dinner could’ve powered the entire paddock.
Emilie: Okay first of all That’s rude And accurate
Belle: Come anyway. Come as my friend. Not as Lando’s girlfriend.
Emilie: …you are dangerously persuasive.
Belle: Lily’s coming too. It’ll be fun. You, me, Lily, a very grumpy Max pretending not to be nervous about the baby stealing his press conference thunder.
Emilie: You really think the baby will upstage Max?
Belle: If she has my hair and his eyes, absolutely.
Emilie: oh my god if it’s a girl with his grumpy face and your attitude the world is not ready
Belle: Exactly. Which is why you need to be there. Help me judge the chaos.
Emilie: Okay okay Fine But if Lando tries to make things serious while I’m there I am blaming you
Belle: Deal. You’ll be the secret girlfriend, I’ll be the public wife. We’ll keep balance in the universe.
Emilie: Verstappen-Leclerc diplomatic summit in Silverstone Can’t wait.
Belle: You bring the wine. I’ll bring the reveal.

Hi I'm that person who made the original post about "no doesn mean no" when a small bit of the mr beast company document was leaked, well, now we have the full document (thanks rosanna) so I'm going to go over it. Please note I am not a lawyer or a business man, I'm in college for psychology, so I might misunderstand some things or make the wrong conclusion. However, if this is a document made for the average mr. beast employee, if I cannot understand it properly, then im sure some employees also struggled
First of all, the opening paragraph. Like I get it's supposed to be like, to put people at ease, but
Tumblr media
This is so strange? Like, first of all, this is your EMPLOYEE MANUAL, you should have run it through like, a spell check? Or had someone edit it? This is already incredibly unprofessional. Also the promising of a thousand dollars if you pass a quiz on it? It's bizarre and I'd love to see if it's an actual quiz.
Tumblr media
Jimmy, hun, please god get an editor for this you're already trying my patience.
Tumblr media
YOU SHOULD, you genuinely should, while interconnected these are all COMPLETELY different jobs, if you think you could write a separate manual for each branch you SHOULD
Tumblr media
I'm sure I'm about to get an answer but what the fuck is the best YOUTUBE video then? If it's not comedy, its not production, its not quality, its not look, then what the hell is left? (monetization, it's monetization)
Tumblr media
First of all, Jimmy, why are you using internet lingo in this, it's not a text message, this is not a place for, idc, and lol, and not capitalizing your headers correctly??? Also like I said, he's chasing trends for monetization, and also he's just wrong, there are plenty of hollywood level shows and the like on youtube. You fully admit you do not care about trends and actively rush things?
Tumblr media
This is just fucked??? Like of COURSE IT MATTERS??? Results based company is bullshit, your employees that worked for five weeks and failed aren't "lesser" then James, it's a structural failure! They still worked for HOURS to try and succeed?? That shows merit and loyalty??? What the fuck???
Tumblr media
Rosanna covers this one in her video but it's worth restating that this is FUCKED??? It's clear overwork "your job is your family" culture. Especially the use of the word obsessive? If you do not OBSESS over your work, you are considered poisonous. NO WONDER we have so many reports of employees doing things they feel is dangerous or unsafe, if they don't they're considered POISON to the company.
Tumblr media
The formatting in this doc continues to fucking kill me, what are you DOING man GET AN EDITOR
Tumblr media
This feels like such an easy fix of just...make the thumbnail after the fact? Or only make a rough draft of one first? Like if production makes a red bouncy castle instead of a yellow one, that feels like an easy fix to the thumbnail OR a communication error, and again, that's on management
A lot of the next stuff is like analytics stuff that for the most part I can't really speak on as someone who does not do any of this stuff. There are a few things though
Tumblr media
Which like???? what??? a lull??? what do you mean "watching a video without even realizing they are watching a video??" That doesn't scream good or even mediocre content to me. If I'm actively tuning out as I watch a video, that's bad. Especially because there have been plenty of times I've been like half way through a video i go "hey this sucks actually" and click off. They actively want their audience to not be paying attention to the video so it runs all the way through, that's kinda pathetic.
Tumblr media
I don't actually know if this is common or not in this industry, but as an outsider this seems INCREDIBLY micromanaging to me, to an immense degree.
Tumblr media
Jimmy why are you putting swears in your employee manual?? sir??? and also something about this whole thing icks me out, I don't quite have the words but the whole emphasis on "im different im special no one else can be me" just reeks of something kind of manipulative
Tumblr media
Why is production changing so much Jimmy??? Infinite growth is the mindset of a cancer cell Jimmy! This is incredibly unstable working conditions! Also again with the word obsession, if you take time out of your own day on your own time to watch hulu, that's seen as not being obsessed enough for the company. This is nonsensical!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Again, this is INSANELY micromanaging, and also so fucking unhinged??? "God himself couldn't stop you from making this video on time" is NOT a healthy work mindset, things HAPPEN!!!
Tumblr media
In this segment he's actually talking normal things but I did just want to highlight his use of "freaken" who the hell puts that in an EMPLOYEE MANUEL
Tumblr media
Again with the micromanaging, and the immense pressure on employees for problems OTHER people do. While he's not fully wrong that you should be in more contact with the contractor then the example, this is too much in the other direction. How much time in the day does he think people have?!
Tumblr media
My kingdom for a fucking paragraph break dude, my fucking eyes. Also this is a lot of "im so great and do everything and you should do more for me and if i dont know something that's your fault" for something titled "I am not always right"
Tumblr media
I'm getting lazy with my highlighting, but again, the micromanaging? If you're SOOO busy, the first question should be the ideal? it's quick and makes a quick decision, while the second one meanders and meanders
Tumblr media
Again, Jimmy is pushing blame for HIS mistakes on OTHER PEOPLE. For again, a section called "i am not always right" hes taking NO accountability for that and just making the SAME excuses he's berating in other places.
Tumblr media
I can't even tell what he means here AN EDITOR JIMMY
Tumblr media
Autism Hell tm, PLEASE email me so I can DOUBLE CHECK IT, things in writing are SO useful
Tumblr media
Again the language towards "C-Players" which as mr beast has said, are the people who y'know, are NORMAL employees who DON'T live and breathe this company
Tumblr media
Okay first of all, a Lamborghini is like 300k so that's already A REALLY hard task, and i sure hope don't usually put typos in the tasks. SECOND of all the fact he thinks its okay to go "hey if the studio is literally on fire around you and you stop working to get the Lamborghini, you're not doing good enough" even if he claims it as a joke is NOT OKAY what the FUCK
Tumblr media
We've covered this before, but to reiterate this segment is named after a sexual assault reference when it could have been named ANYTHING ELSE and harasses employees and pressures them to break rules, don't do that.
Tumblr media
I'm not an editor, so maybe this is normal, but as someone from the outside it seems strange to put this much emphasis on dividing focus between so many videos at once.
Tumblr media
Jimmy, hun, are you paying extra for this? Because if I'm an editor and you want me FILMING stuff then i want to be paid more for doing TWO jobs and I probably still wont be as skilled a TRAINED CAMERA MAN
Tumblr media
First of all now THAT'S a type, consteatants. Also the fact they are aware that leaving contestants out in the sun is bad, why are you not doing MORE TO STOP IT BEYOND "hey maybe giving them three hours of heatstroke is bad, try only two next time"
Tumblr media
Don't we love favoritism, more shitty unprofessional writings, and a completely unstable work environment?
Tumblr media
If your people have to pull all nighters period something is wrong, and if something happens to an employees car that could have seriously hurt someone, i sure hope you care more then just "LOL FUNNY" Who's picking up the broken glass? Who's reimbursing the car owner? That one meme of "your first care should be commitment to the bit" is a MEME jimmy, it's not ACTUAL ADVICE
Ah shit I hit image limit, well, you've seen enough screenshots to know these are screenshots, we're almost done I'll put them in as quotes
"Let’s say you are tasked with finding us a castle to live in for 50 hours and while doing research you find a castle and a number to call for the owner. So you do call, and he answers. Only problem is he says he quit the castle renting business to pursue his dream of building a 100 foot tall lego catapult. You can obviously tell where i’m going with this. Ideally you’d recognize that’s badass as fuck and try to convince him to let us use it when we do find a castle. This is a bad example because it’s so obvious but if you’re doing your job right you will be doing an absurd amounts of calls and data collecting. While trying to complete your prios and prepare for the video you should always be on the lookout for new things you can bring to your creative team to inspire them. Because just like me, they don’t know what they don’t know and you can’t just say “i’m in production and i’m not very creative” because that’s literally the equivalent of saying I suck at what I do. You also need to apply this same mindset when problem solving because many people lose sight of this stuff when in the weeds. If a problem appears, always always always ask yourself if your new plan is whats best for creative, not just the easiest bandaid."
First of all it's really funny seeing all the red lines pop up, second of all this insistent blurring of everyone's job seems so strange? Again maybe this is normal, but it really feels like Jimmy wants everyone working every job, instead on focusing on what they are actually hired to do.
"What is the goal of our content?
To excite me. The goal of our content is to excite me. That may sound weird to some of you, especially if you’re new but to me it’s what’s most important. If I'm not excited to get in front of that camera and film the video, it’s just simply not going to happen."
That's fucking weirddddd, like I get that he's trying to be like "im authentic" but it always feels like a bad sign when the goal of a company is literally just "What amuses the boss" like...bad sign
"this is youtube and there are constraints. You know the video can’t be a minute so you’re obviously going to need a story to hold the viewers and there are rules to storytelling. Our audience is massive and because of that you have to be simple, for 50 million people to understand something it must be simple. Content can be anything but there is structure and rules that we must mold it into that I want to teach you about, because virality doesn’t just happen. Every frame of our videos will be seen by 10s of millions of people"
Gross
"I'd say the average MrBeast viewer is a teenage memer that likes video games."
Mr Beast is completely aware of his demographic and puts screen shots of it, he is very aware his stuff is aimed at kids, even when its about gambling or hiring people not around near minors
"I feel silly for having to write this but all the time I talk to 32 new people that have at most seen like 5 or 6 of our videos and it’s mind blowing that they don’t see a problem with that lol."
It's almost like your audience is teenage memer and that people who working here are not in fact, teenage memers.
"What you consume on social media, when you watch youtube, tv, the games you play, etc. are what I like to call your information diet.
How do you stay up to date on the latest memes? How do you know what’s going on with celebrities? What’s trending on youtube? What other creators are doing? What’s popping on tik tok? Your information diet. Consume things on a daily basis that help you write better content."
If my job as a creative writer had my boss tell me to have to see whats "popping on tik tok" as part of my job i'd quit also again, the micromanaging of someone's life as well pops up again, it's weirddd
"It’s okay for the boys to be childish
If talent wants to draw a dick on the white board in the video or do something stupid, let them. (assuming they know all the risks and arn’t missing context on why it’s not safe) People like when we are in our natural element of stupidity. Really do everything you can to empower the boys when filming and help them make content. Help them be idiots"
More favoritism
"If you’ve made it this far you are probably at least semi interested in this being your career. So I wanted to chat about it. Because if you're ambitious and want to dedicate your life to work, you picked the best company in America to do it at. I really don’t care to hoard a bunch of money and I deeply believe in rewarding the people that help this business get where it needs to be. But before I get into that, let’s talk about the future. As I write this we have 2 teams, that will grow to 4 in the next year. (and possibly 8 in the next 2 years but I can’t talk about that cause james will kill me haha). We need more leaders in the company. Weneed hard working, obsessive, coachable, intelligent, grinders that can step up and take some of these leadership spots over the next 2 years. Every single department has an opportunity for you to grow in and you’re in luck because we don’t do yearly reviews. We do whenever the fuck you want reviewes"
Lack of communication from management, and more emphasis on grinding and crunch culture, goodie, all while riddled with typos! God.
"I see a world where this company is worth billions and one day 10s of billions. And those of you that help build this will be rewarded. I want nothing more then for you to go all in, obsessive all day everyday, and become so god dam valuable this company can’t operate without you. And in return for becoming so valuable I hope to give you incredible experiences, a fun place to work, and of course, more money then you could ever dream of making at any other company."
I feel like I'm reading a fucking pyramid scheme document here, "youre so so valuable spend literally every minute of every day on this company haha" good GOD man

NOTE. this is the side effect of having a clinically insane brain that has to make a fic out of everything, including the law readings that i am subjected to every day. i have also been re-reading weak hero and i’ve projected my favorite feral dog (keum seongje/wolf keum) to the sweetest man alive (na jaemin). i’ve also based their org structure to the Union’s, just for full disclosure. meaning, a whole lot of dream 00 line (criminal) shenanigans are underway.
this intro note has become a mouthful. anyway, hope you enjoy!
Tumblr media
IT’S SUPPOSED TO BE YOUR OFF DAY TODAY. You’re on sick leave— that is, sick and tired of drafting legal papers, meeting clients, reading piles and piles of documents every single damn week, so you decided to use your once-a-month get out of jail free card to stay in bed playing Stardew Valley. It’s pre-planned. You’ve already faked sneezes and coughing fits at the office yesterday. You’ve already called your Division Chief this morning. Kim Doyoung can’t do shit when you’re allegedly bedridden and downtrodden with a fever. He can eat his own ass and suck it.
“You have a new case,” he informs you over the phone. “It’s from Nalkkeutta.”
Or so you thought.
“Hah,” a weak wheeze squirms out of your throat. “Sure. Okay. Got it.”
Motherfucking son of a bitch. Those two lines spring you out of bed immediately as though your bones have just been tased. God dammit. You’ve just managed to snag Sebastian into wedlock. How dare he throw another job at you right now? How dare he ruin your sweet, sweet honeymoon with the emotionally constipated 2D man of your dreams?
Still. It doesn’t matter if you just got married or have a collapsing lung right now. You haul your ass, get dressed, get out, and get into your car to drive to your district’s police station in a hissy fit, as per your boss, Kim Doyoung’s, instructions. This damned firm is working you like a dog, but you can’t bite the hand that feeds you. And neither can Kim Doyoung.
“Yes, sir, I’m on my way. Are the files ready? Can you send them to me?”
This case came from Nalkkeutta. NCT. Nal. Day. Kkeut. End. Ta. To burn. The day ends in flames. It’s a name that haunts the streets of Yeongdeungpo. It’s a name that’s synonymous with loan sharking, weapons dealing, and coughing up protection fees unless you want to get your shit rocked on an unfortunate walk home— under the guise of an honest to goodness security company to service your protective needs.
In the early 90’s, the government had a massive crackdown on gang activity and organized crime, subsequently snuffing out any emerging organized crime presence by officially criminalizing the mere act of joining a gang under the Revised Penal Code. But Nalkkeutta is relatively new. That scorching sunset symbol suddenly emerged in the district one day, around eight to nine years ago, and it’s marred the district of Yeongdeungpo with burn marks ever since.
And your life. You haven’t been lucky enough to be spared from that damned gang’s mess. In fact, you’re currently entangled with one of their messes right now.
The glass doors of the Yeongdeungpo Police Station shut behind you. You’re smacked hard in the face far too artificial lighting and sickly white walls and the words Patriotism, Justice, Honor mocking you in embossed silver. You grimace, cross your arms, divert your eyes with an impatient tap of the foot— and your arrival doesn’t exactly come unrecognized by the front desk and the others scattered around the lobby. One officer takes immediate initiative upon seeing your familiar sour expression, rustling out of a conversation to attend to you.
“Hey, attorney. How may we help you?”
You eye the man. You’ve come to know him by name— Jung Jaehyun— even without needing to take a peek at his uniform’s name tag. You spare him and yourself the small talk and jump straight to business. “I’m here to see my client,” you inform, followed by under-the-breath swears as you fumble through your phone for the e-file Doyoung had just sent because Nalkkeutt had the gall to demand you to run and fetch the bone they left behind here without even giving you the chance to look at it. Seriously. If they want you to do a good job, they should be more punctual than this. “His name is—”
Huh. You read the top line of the document. A lump forms in your throat. You read it again. Once more. And the letters neither shift nor fold, confirming with absolute certainty that you read the name of your client correctly.
It’s a name you haven’t heard of in a while. It’s name that stalked the corridors of the place you’d bid good riddance to eight years ago with a spit on the concrete ground.
“Na Jaemin.” There’s a bitter taste on your tongue when you pronounce his name— like your very digestive system can’t stomach it, rejects it, and wants to vomit it right back out. “His name is Na Jaemin.”
A nod from Jung Jaehyun. He turns his heels and leads you further into the station.
Empty footsteps echo against the slowly dimming hall leading to the private visiting rooms. The silence pricks at your memories— an uncomfortable sound you’ve grown accustomed to in the two years you’ve spent at Ganghak High School. It’s been eight damn years since you’ve graduated, yet one mention of a name reels you back into the past with a vividness that’s still as clear as the present.
In your memories, Na Jaemin was the guy who carried with him a pungent air of animosity and violence in his wake. On paper, he is your client, a member of the power-drunk gang that you’re tied by the noose with, and someone you have to defend. At present, he is sits right before you— tight-browed, tight-lipped underneath the singular light bulb hovering above the center of the table, looking as though he’s one clock tick away from flipping the table over (the only thing maintaining a safe distance between the both of you), and leaving on his own accord.
Your eyes meet. Your head snaps down to avoid his gaze.
“Good day, Na Jaemin-ssi,” you manage to choke out. “I will be your lawyer for the case against Yoon Naksung and company.”
You’re not sure how you feel when there isn’t even a click of recognition on his part when you introduce yourself and mention your name. You realize that what you’re feeling is a mixture of fear, relief, and absolute revulsion when he responds with, So, when the fuck am I getting out?”
There’s a ring in your ears.
It’s the sound of your heart trying to escape from your chest.
You inhale sharply. Fuck. You’re not sure if you have the willpower to push through this, and you can’t even ease your nerves or melt your frozen bloodstream with a sigh because he’s staring right at you— impatient, as though he’s counting down the seconds in his head after a one-sided declaration that you have a limited time to willingly answer before he forces it out of you by the throat.
That fucking looking in his eyes. That damned stare that instinctively triggers you to look down, look away, look anywhere else but directly at him. It’s a habit that everyone in Ganghak used to have. It’s a habit that’s still deeply instilled in your psyche, in your muscles, in your instincts to the point that despite being the person in authority at the moment, you have your head down, throat dry, and doing your damn best to read his case file despite the letters looking all wobbly from your anxiety.
Disturbing the peace. Three counts of physical injury. Less serious. Thank fuck. That makes things a little bit more hopeful, but that doesn’t mean you’re free from hell. Hell is sitting right in front of you, handcuffed because the cops have deemed his very existence a threat to public order and safety. You muster up a bit more confidence knowing he can’t reach over the table to sock you in the face.
“You’re an alleged offender, Na Jaemin-ssi. You’d have to be detained until the trial.”
Na Jaemin sneers, a kick against the table leg with a grunt. “Fucking useless,” he spits. His chair is tipped back, head turned away. You firmly press your lips together. You wish he’d just completely tip over and crash his skull and die.
For someone currently detained for a possible criminal offense, Na Jaemin sure seems very much unbothered yet annoyed at the same time. He sits relaxed on the foldable chair, shoulders slumped as if he owns the place, and he stifles out a lazy yawn— drawing attention to his busted lips and handful of scratches littered all over his cheekbone, temple, and forehead— a stark contrast to the vibrant purple splotch painting over his right jaw. You make a mental note to schedule a physical examination on his ass to record his injuries.
“But…I can make sure you don’t get arrested” You proceed with caution. His evident annoyance is flecked with momentary interest. You suck in a deep breath. “Were there any other people involved besides you and the three witnesses? Was anyone else there?”
You’re not sure what you were expecting as a response. Whatever it’d be, you just hope you get some useful information. Any sort of information. However, it seems like you just asked the wrong question.
“The fuck? Hell, if I know.”
All that interest is eradicated by a sharp glare. Na Jaemin lets out a huff and a sneer. You’re stressed. You’re beyond stressed. This is impossible. Of all people, why did it have to be him? Back then, you’d always had a feeling that he was part of something sketchy, whether it be some ragtag juvenile group or whatever the fuck. You didn’t care enough to find out. But, christ jesus, he just had to be in fucking Nalkkeut.
That sun tattoo sprawled on the back of his impatient hand— the gang’s symbol, sun rays etched into the bumps of his veins and calloused skin— tap, tap, tapping on the table with the clunk of his handcuffs tells you that he isn’t just some disposable grunt either. The urgency in Kim Doyoung’s tone when he called earlier confirms that dreadful conjecture as well. He’s up there. Way up there, and you have no choice but to fight back the urge to swallow your own tongue.
“I—I understand. That’s fine. Then…can I ask what events led to the incident?” you tentatively try to prod, taking a peek at his expression to see if you’re greenlit to ask this. His face brightens up. One corner of his mouth twitches upward, revealing a sliver of teeth. You flinch. He looks deranged.
“That bucket wearing dumbass looked me in the eye,” he starts, smiling. “So I punched him right in the socket. Then his friends decided that they wanted a beating too.”
Na Jaemin is leaning back on the flimsy plastic chair as if he’s reminiscing a happy memory. Jesus christ. He’s always been like this, but it never fails to scare you shitless. You’ve always wondered why he was so insane, but the fact that he currently is and has been in Nalkeutta explains a lot of the things you’ve seen in high school. No high schooler had any business pulling up the gate with a BMW, nor was it reasonable for anyone at your age at the time to afford at least five Cartier watches considering the neighborhood you were in. Yet Na Jaemin and his lackey’s always showed up in the days that he thought was convenient in some sort of Chanel tracksuit and dozens of gold and silver accessories.
You were lucky enough to have never gotten punched in the nose with the absurd amount of rings on his fingers— a taste which he seems to carry until today, you notice while keeping your eyes down and trained on the table. They aren’t allowed to keep any personal belongings in the holding cells, jewelry included, fucking obviously. How this guy managed to keep his is beyond your imagination.
“So, it wasn’t one-sided,” you try to confirm, try to get a good enough testimony to help his and your sorry ass in court. “Can you testify their participation during the trial?”
Wrong move. Very wrong move.
You jump in your seat when he suddenly lurches forward, chained palms slamming against the rocky table with a loud thump and a clink. “Hey, Little Miss Attorney. Listen very carefully,” he rasps. He’s leaned in closer now, making it a hundred times more difficult to keep your head down and not look him in the eye. “I beat all three of them half to death, and that’s all that matters. This question and answer bullshit is pissing me off. Are we done here? Can you fucking leave now?”
You’re scared shitless. You really are. It’s two years worth of trauma suddenly jumping you from behind a wall and throttling the air out of your lungs— of course you’re fucking terrified, and Na Jaemin can smell it like the rabid dog he is.
The problem is, he isn’t the worst of your fears. This mutt is leashed to an owner that would have your head as a dinner treat if you don’t manage to get him out of this stupid cage. So you don’t have much of a choice in the matter. Damned to hell if you do, damned to an even deeper hell if you don’t.
“Na Jaemin-ssi,” you start. Your jaw is tight. It takes everything in your power to force it open and speak. “I need you to cooperate with me so I can get you out of here. Help me help you, alright?”
You’ve really been trying your best to phrase your sentences in a way that doesn’t sound demanding, that you’re leaving it hp to him because you know this bastard doesn’t like being told what to do. But your careful attempts don’t matter against a volatile son of a bitch. “Why’d you even need my help? Ain’t that shit your job?“ he barbs, a slight scoff hanging off at the end. “Seems like Mark hired a useless fucking lawyer.”
Twice. He just called you useless twice. The sheer level of offense you feel momentarily overpowers your nerves— a biting tick near the side of your temple, and you dig your fingers into the clothed skin of your thigh.
The Mark he’s referencing did not hire you because you’re useless. In fact, that guy regularly asks for you specifically whenever his gang is caught in any civil or criminal trouble because you’re the only damned attorney willing to get her hands dirty to find an out— and competent enough to pull it off in exchange for an extra zero on your commission.
Meaning, this bastard is at your mercy. And he has the audacity to piss you the fuck off.
“Strike a nerve?”
Apparently, you failed to hide the scowl polluting your expression. When you sneak a glance at Na Jaemin, he appears to be amused at his successful non-attempt to get under your skin, a lazy, lopsided grin on his face.
You get it together. Mark Lee, that fucking bastard. It had been fine for the past few months when all you’ve had to mediate were petty settlements and bails and lesser criminal offenses, but you’ve never had to deal with one of his executives directly before— who just so happened to be your high school bully, at that. You close your eyes shut, press your lips together, and release a deep breath from out of your nose as you stand up.
“I’ll handle it. There’s nothing for you to worry about, but I will need to arrange a meeting with you again before the trial.”
Na Jaemin simply shrugs and waives you off. Your tight lips force themselves into a smile as you nod and stomp your way out.
Fucking bastard, fucking piece of shit, fucking, god damn it—
You leave the station with a jumbled up head and with all your five senses screaming themselves into oblivion. Shit. Fuck. What the fuck. Had Kim Doyoing emailed you the file a lot earlier, you wouldn’t have gone here and welcomed yourself directly into hell. You could try to settle with the victims, but in case they won’t agree to a compromise, you’d have to pull a defense out of your ass considering that your client is the most uncooperative asshole you’ve ever been cursed to deal with.
It doesn’t help that spending two years in high school with Na Jaemin is reopening pages and pages of trauma that you thought you’d successfully managed to file away— stored in a safety vault in a little corner of your head that need not be reopened. But just meeting him— talking to him directly when you’ve never even dared to before— brought a rusty crowbar to that vault, mercilessly ripping it apart.
Having cancelled your off day, the car ride to your office building is spent thinking about how to scrape up a case to defend the bastard you thought you’d finally been freed from eight years ago. The bastard who’d made the last two years of high school a literal level hell of dread and desperation.
Even for Nalkkeutta, this has got to be the worst kind of torture anyone could ask for.

Laswell decides everyone needs to blow off steam. So she organizes a dodge ball game between Shadow Company and 141 and Vaqueros.
It was supposed to be simple.. structured.. she forgot these are a buncha heavily traumatized idiots who hate to lose.
Soap let out a battle cry like he’s William Wallace
Alejandro screamed ‘the resistance starts now’
They made tactical forts out of gym mats. Kate blew the whistle and they all charged at each other full speed no brakes.
It was a tactical meltdown, Simon beamed Graves in the head which triggered a slow motion collapse.
Rudy fake died whispering to Alejandro to tell his story.
A random shadow army crawled across the floor muttering. ‘It’s not over the resistance lives.’ Laswell tried to call it off but it was too late. Soap accidentally nailed Price in the back of the head. Simon got clocked by a rogue shoe. Gaz got so many saves he thought he was on top of the world. Until Graves nailed him in the back.
By the end of it Price, Alejandro and Graves all sporting new bruisers and matching black eyes. Shook hands and drafted a peace treaty. Kate considered a transfer.

Unfinished draft which I can't bring myself to complete
Nightbringer universe
Babysitter turned attendant is an improvement, you suppose.
Supervising seven grown demons, with a better name to call it. It has been a week since you stepped into the Devildom of the past with no recollection of the motive behind your action. Seven days and you find yourself back at the House of Lamentation, taking care of seven newborn demons still fresh with the wounds of the Celestial War.
And with a sister lost too.
You have supplied Lucifer with a pot of coffee as per his request, ensuring that his brothers are up to mischief which will not cause much damage. He still uses his left hand when signing documents and stamping papers. Still furrows his eyebrows at a confusing clause, picks up a pen in the other hand to write decrees.
Still your Lucifer, if unknown.
Your speed lowers in anticipation as you reach for the door handle. Any moment now, the demon would have asked you stay. Just for a little while. His deep voice is already echoing in your head: "won't you give me your company for a moment longer, dear?"
The petname sits heavy on your tongue; anticipation building in your mind. You're not with your demon right this—this is not your Lucifer.
You turn behind in resignation, observe with numb dissection as he signs a document and holds his head in his hand. His gaze flickers up, eyebrow raised.
You force yourself to swallow. "What should I make for breakfast tomorrow?" Your voice comes out smaller than you intend it to.
Lucifer gapes at you in confusion for a moment. "Since when you have been so peculiar about our dietary preferences?"
"Just wanted to know your preferences."
"Eggs, if you must."
A curt nod comes from you. "I'll do that, Goodnight."
You force your brain to think of enough eggs for the seven lords tomorrow. Judging by the ingredients, prep will take at least half an hour. The climb to the next floor begins, the stairs creaking omniously. And Beel would keep swiping in between meals while Asmo ties a hairclip to you, apron tucked neatly on your clothes by Mammon—
There's the sound of glass breaking coming from above.
Lucifer would be sighing right now.
You muse whether the chandelier is still retaining its structural integrity. Your thighs burned earlier from climbing the ungodly number of stairs—you've grown used to it now. It does not make you out of breath anymore. Feet make their way towards the source in the dark.
A cacophony of noises already graces your ears as you reach for the door handle.
"What is it now?" You say, and glance over the mess. The chandelier? Broken. Mammon and Leviathan are squabbling again, Belpheghor and Beelzebub are in a corner: the former half-asleep and goading his elder brothers, the later content on chewing the deviled sandwiches sent by Simeon. Asmodeus is nowhere to be found. And Satan must be at the library right now.
You set to work with a clap of your hands. The chandelier is repaired by your magic (Bless Solomon) and Mammon and Leviathan separated from each other.
"Off to sleep, you two." You say with practiced firmness. "I'm leaving right now, see you all at breakfast. Goodnight."
You make your words as curt as you can, because interacting with them hurts. They're still your demons, yet so distant. And the ones you left behind--you don't even know whether they are okay.
Please be okay.
You don't spare them a glance when you leave, already headed for the left corridor, where the fourth-born is usually.
Satan isn't in the library.
You forgot.
Right, he does not have access granted to him yet. Not until he manages to control the anger simmering in his veins, claw it down to make a presentable, proper demon. Uncivilised demon, Lucifer had told him once. Who will ever take you seriously if wrath is all you have to give? Muttered exasperatedly as he chained down the brother carved from his own anger and flesh and blood, ignored the outburst until he learnt how to behave. A storm of green had locked with your own when you stumbled upon them both.
His claws were red with dried blood, worn down from clawing at the cobblestone. Canines bared and face of fury.
You made a reminder to bring some antiseptic later.
The morning starts off uneventfully, thankfully. Mammon digs into his soup first, as always, while the day's events are glossed over. You bite into your eggs and wonder how much more before another event occurs.
Solomon had said that he would be at the Demon Lord's Castle due to some pending affairs to settle. It always sounded ominous coming out of his mouth. A kiss to your temple, and he was off.
He fits in anywhere he goes.
Cutlery clanking acts as background noise as you let your mind drift. Strengthen the pacts again, go back to your timeline. Your goal here.
Back to level 1, it seems.

At first glance, Riddle sees you as a poised and refined young lady—an image of grace under pressure. He respects that. But as time passes, he realizes it’s not natural elegance; it’s control. The way you hold yourself, the way you speak—it’s deliberate, as if you’re performing for someone who isn’t there.
You remind him of a caged bird. Beautiful, but trapped in something invisible. It unsettles him.
When you mention Mizi’s name—softly, wistfully—he recognizes the way your voice catches on it. He’s studied grief in textbooks, read about different ways people mourn. But he’s never heard someone carry loss the way you do, as if it’s stitched into your very being.
You don’t cry often, but the weight of your sorrow lingers in everything you do. When you stand by the window, eyes searching the sky, he knows you’re looking for something beyond it. He wonders if you even realize it yourself.
You’re prone to sleepless nights, and he notices. He starts leaving herbal tea by your door, citing Heartslabyul’s rules on proper health. It’s a quiet way of saying I see you. I won’t push, but I care.
If you ever have a panic attack, he’s caught between his instinct to enforce structure and his awareness that grief doesn’t obey rules. He opts for quiet presence, sitting nearby, offering something tangible—warm tea, gentle words, a familiar voice grounding you back to reality.
─────────────────────────
Leona immediately senses something different about you. Unlike others who fear his presence, you meet his gaze with quiet detachment. No apprehension, no admiration. Just... acceptance. It annoys him at first. Then it intrigues him.
He’s not stupid. He’s seen loss before, but the way you carry yours—it’s not just sadness. It’s survival. Like someone who had no choice but to keep going.
“Tch. What’s with that look?” he mutters one evening when he catches you gazing at the stars, eyes unfocused. When you answer with a soft, “I’m looking for someone who isn’t looking back,” he doesn’t respond. But he doesn’t leave, either.
Sometimes he hears you humming when you think you’re alone. The melody is gentle, sorrowful—like a song meant for ghosts. He never asks about it, but it lingers in his mind long after.
He’s not the type to console with words, so instead, he gives you space to exist. If you need silence, he won’t talk. If you need company, he won’t push. And if you need rest, he’ll grumble about it before shoving a pillow at you and muttering, “Take a nap, herbivore.”
─────────────────────────
Azul is drawn to your presence. You exude a kind of mystique, a quiet allure that reminds him of deep, uncharted waters. But when he looks closer, he sees something else—fatigue. A weariness that no amount of rest could fix.
He’s fascinated by your voice. It’s hauntingly beautiful, a siren’s call that lingers even after the music fades. He briefly considers asking if you’d like to perform at Mostro Lounge, but the way your expression shifts—like the mere thought exhausts you—makes him reconsider.
One night, he catches you singing alone. There’s no audience, no stage—just you and your memories. He doesn’t interrupt. For once, Azul allows himself to simply listen.
He recognizes the way your fingers sometimes twitch when holding a microphone, the way you hesitate before stepping into a room full of people. It reminds him of his own fears, his own battles with past humiliation.
When he finally hears you say Mizi’s name or mention your longing, he doesn’t pry. But he does something rare—he offers you silence, a place where you don’t have to perform.
─────────────────────────
Kalim is immediately drawn to you. You’re elegant, composed—but there’s something about you that feels distant. Like you’re here, but not really here.
He loves music, and your voice is unlike anything he’s ever heard. But when he excitedly asks you to sing at a Scarabia event, your smile falters for just a second before you politely decline. The moment stays with him.
He doesn’t push, but he watches. He notices how you linger by the windows during late nights, how your gaze drifts skyward, searching for something only you can see.
When you finally whisper, “I miss someone,” he doesn’t respond with the usual cheerful reassurances. Instead, he simply sits beside you, letting you talk if you want to.
Kalim doesn’t always understand grief, but he understands loneliness. So he makes sure you never feel alone, whether through spontaneous invitations or simply keeping you company in comfortable silence.
─────────────────────────
Vil sees you as a performer, but not in the way others do. He recognizes the way you carry yourself—not as someone who wants attention, but as someone who was forced into it.
You don’t take up space like he does. Instead, you exist in a way that demands attention without seeking it. That, in itself, is an art form.
He doesn’t offer empty comforts when he realizes how deeply you grieve. Instead, he tells you something cryptic: “The world is cruel to those who shine too brightly. But you’re still here. Make sure you stay that way.”
He’s a firm believer in self-care, but when he catches you neglecting yourself—skipping meals, overworking—his tone sharpens. “A broken star is of no use to anyone. You won’t find what you’re looking for by destroying yourself.”
He never asks about Mizi directly, but one evening, as he watches you stare at the sky, he murmurs, “Whoever she was, I hope she knew how much she mattered to you.”
─────────────────────────
Idia doesn’t do well with emotions—especially not ones as heavy as yours. But he sees the signs. The way your fingers sometimes shake when you hold a microphone. The way your gaze flickers elsewhere when he speaks, like you’re remembering someone else.
He recognizes that grief isn’t just sadness—it’s obsession. He understands shutting yourself away from the world because reality is too painful.
He won’t ask about Mizi, but if you ever mention her, he listens. He doesn’t say anything, doesn’t try to comfort you. He just listens.
One day, he programs a small game. In it, there’s a tiny, pixelated version of you and another girl—a girl who looks like Mizi. He never mentions it, but when you find it on your screen, you understand.
This is his way of remembering, too.
─────────────────────────
Malleus is drawn to you immediately. Not because of your voice, but because of your presence—like an echo of something long forgotten.
He understands longing. The way you search the sky for something beyond reach—it’s the same way he waits for letters that never come.
When he first hears Mizi’s name, he doesn’t ask. But later, he quietly wonders, “Do you think she would be proud of you?” The question lingers.
If you ever tell him about Alien Stage, he listens with deep fascination. A world where people had to sing to survive, where every note was a battle. He wonders if, in another life, you and Mizi might have been free.
