I was given an assignment 6 weeks ago and I've been doing the allocated time plan for the last 6 weeks.
Turns out you actually need 2 whole months to do the assignment as stated by the exam board and my college just decided that, "Fuck it they can do it"
It's now 12:42am and I've typing for last 5 hours.
It's due tomorrow. AND WHAT EVEN WORSE IS THAT 5 HOURS AGO WHEN I WAS GOOGLE THIS INFORMATION I FOUND OUT IT'S ONLY WORTH 17% OF THE FRICKING GRADE!
What is this? Some sadistic educational torture? This is my first 5 min break in an hour and 30 minutes. And I've still gotta write the evaluation and test plan. I'm so I've this.
UPDATE: 2am and done.

CoPilot in MS Word
I opened Word yesterday to discover that it now contains CoPilot. It follows you as you type and if you have a personal Microsoft 365 account, you can't turn it off. You will be given 60 AI credits per month and you can't opt out of it.
The only way to banish it is to revert to an earlier version of Office. There is lot of conflicting information and overly complex guides out there, so I thought I'd share the simplest way I found.
How to revert back to an old version of Office that does not have CoPilot
This is fairly simple, thankfully, presuming everything is in the default locations. If not you'll need to adjust the below for where you have things saved.
Click the Windows Button and S to bring up the search box, then type cmd. It will bring up the command prompt as an option. Run it as an administrator.
Paste this into the box at the cursor: cd "\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ClickToRun"
Hit Enter
Then paste this into the box at the cursor: officec2rclient.exe /update user updatetoversion=16.0.17726.20160
Hit enter and wait while it downloads and installs.
VERY IMPORTANT. Once it's done, open Word, go to File, Account (bottom left), and you'll see a box on the right that says Microsoft 365 updates. Click the box and change the drop down to Disable Updates.
This will roll you back to build 17726.20160, from July 2024, which does not have CoPilot, and prevent it from being installed.
If you want a different build, you can see them all listed here. You will need to change the 17726.20160 at step 4 to whatever build number you want.
This is not a perfect fix, because while it removes CoPilot, it also stops you receiving security updates and bug fixes.
Switching from Office to LibreOffice
At this point, I'm giving up on Microsoft Office/Word. After trying a few different options, I've switched to LibreOffice.
You can download it here for free: https://www.libreoffice.org/
If you like the look of Word, these tutorials show you how to get that look:
www.howtogeek.com/788591/how-to-make-libreoffice-look-like-microsoft-office/
www.debugpoint.com/libreoffice-like-microsoft-office/
If you've been using Word for awhile, chances are you have a significant custom dictionary. You can add it to LibreOffice following these steps.
First, get your dictionary from Microsoft
Go to Manage your Microsoft 365 account: account.microsoft.com.
One you're logged in, scroll down to Privacy, click it and go to the Privacy dashboard.
Scroll down to Spelling and Text. Click into it and scroll past all the words to download your custom dictionary. It will save it as a CSV file.
Open the file you just downloaded and copy the words.
Open Notepad and paste in the words. Save it as a text file and give it a meaningful name (I went with FromWord).
Next, add it to LibreOffice
Open LibreOffice.
Go to Tools in the menu bar, then Options. It will open a new window.
Find Languages and Locales in the left menu, click it, then click on Writing aids.
You'll see User-defined dictionaries. Click New to the right of the box and give it a meaningful name (mine is FromWord).
Hit Apply, then Okay, then exit LibreOffice.
Open Windows Explorer and go to C:\Users\[YourUserName]\AppData\Roaming\LibreOffice\4\user\wordbook and you will see the new dictionary you created. (If you can't see the AppData folder, you will need to show hidden files by ticking the box in the View menu.)
Open it in Notepad by right clicking and choosing 'open with', then pick Notepad from the options.
Open the text file you created at step 5 in 'get your dictionary from Microsoft', copy the words and paste them into your new custom dictionary UNDER the dotted line.
Save and close.
Reopen LibreOffice. Go to Tools, Options, Languages and Locales, Writing aids and make sure the box next to the new dictionary is ticked.
If you use LIbreOffice on multiple machines, you'll need to do this for each machine.
Please note: this worked for me. If it doesn't work for you, check you've followed each step correctly, and try restarting your computer. If it still doesn't work, I can't provide tech support (sorry).

Old Tumblr Dashboard (Userstyle)!!
I created a Userstyle for the Chrome/Firefox Stylus Extension that reverts the new dashboard to the old look!
You need to have Stylus installed. So if you don't have it:
Install the Stylus Firefox Addon or the Manifest V2 Chrome Extension (You can install Chrome Extensions on Edge as well)
Once it's installed into Firefox/Chrome/Edge you can proceed with adding this style or any other.
To add the style (Stylus), follow the instructions:
Go to this link: https://userstyles.world/style/11286/old-tumblr-dashboard-userstyle (If it says 'style not found' then the Userstyle.world server is just down, try again in an hour)
Click on "install".
Style will open a tag with it and in the left side you'll have a button that says "install style", click there. (Step-by-step copied from the lovely dorothyoz39 who wrote this in a reply!) If you don't want the sticky header you can remove the labelled script at the top of the css below /* Sticky Header*/
For Manifest V3 only Chrome Or Stylus incompatible browsers:
For Chrome Manifest V3 install the Tampermonkey Extension
Then add the Tampermonkey Backup Script instead of the Stylus version
https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/492279-old-tumblr-dasboard-backup I highly recommend you switch to Firefox for continued use of good extensions! Stylus does not have a V3 update yet; however, the tamermonkey script works just as good.
Be sure to check for updates regularly and if you'd like, consider supporting me on Ko-Fi https://ko-fi.com/pixiel !
I'm currently taking donations so I can afford a much-needed wheelchair, so please check out my GoFundMe for more details! Any Ko-Fi donations will be added manually to the GoFundMe
..::::HOW TO UPDATE::::..
click the Manage button on Stylus and click the check for update button next to the userstyle, then click again to install!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Make sure to check the Userstyle and see if the version number matches the one below if you don't see any changes!
NEW UPDATE: 25/05/25 (D/M/Y) 17:28PM BST v17.13
16.16: Fixed activity and notifications, they now look like the previous version 17.0: Final update to the new icons bs! Every page should be functional. If theres any missed parts or bugs - let me know! 17.9: Minor fixes and Tampermonkey update! You can also fix the positioning of the Communities button and subnav from this menu as well - it should remember your settings when you update!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr Post Width & More (OTD+ Userstyle) Is now available!!
OTD+ is an add on for Old Tumblr dashboard that you can use to edit the Post Width, Content Positioning & More - It must be used with Old Tumblr Dashboard installed as well on the latest update! This style might be merged with OTD in the future.
THE CREATOR OF THIS USERSTYLE SUPPORTS THEIR TRANS SISTERS. WE'RE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER!
Check the readmore for the changelog, custom code & known issues!
----- Known issues:
Only two columns in Masonry view. Semi-Unfixable, Tumblr creates columns based on monitor size, if I try adding another column (because it doesn't exist) it just perpetually loads on screen. Semi-fix: Zoom out in chrome/firefox and it adds more columns, you may need to change the font size of the page though
Search bar doesn't appear on some pages (like viewing a post), this is because Tumblr removed the search bar on those pages completely. Unfixable but not a big deal
Tumblr has ONCE AGAIN CHANGED THE ACCOUNTS MENU. The menus are now shorter and have less information on them. This is unfortunately permanent. I do not see any way to fix this. Unfixable.
If you want people's icons to stay fixed in place, instead of scrolling with the dashboard change this in Stylus;
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Or if you're using the tampermonkey version

Find text:

.NLCTe > div.Evcyl > div > div > .So6RQ.YSitt > .ge_yK > .c79Av > article > header > .RYkKH > .nZ9l5 { pointer-events: auto; top: 0px; transition: top .25s; position: absolute; }
Solved issues: (Update)
Menus need to be manually closed SOLVED! in V.4 and updated in V.5! The menu & icon WILL scroll with you if you have removed the sticky header CSS, however, clicking anywhere on screen will make the Menu disappear still.
Masonry view in searches is now fixed!
Resized Messenger Chat Box!
NEW UPDATE 16/08/23, 23:55 BST v6.5: Figured out how to reorganise the icons in the header. Let me know if you have any problems with it and make sure to update your Userstyle! Some icons are hidden with Display: Block; you can hide more icons with this method!
Tumblr media
Solved issues p2
Brought back SOME of the icons for Tumblrs latest update - Unfortunately, this does not bring back user icons for Reblogged posts! Make sure to yell at Tumblr for removing the icons as well as the horrible dashboard update here! v7.5 Fixed icons for all posts and put them back where they came from!
v6.9.6.9 (I promise this is the last funny number): Fuck Off Buggy The Clown Update + All languages support for the old header design!
v7.0: Fixed the search bar for tumblrs new collections feature, so it looks like the original search bar!
v8.0: Fixed masonry view icons, hidden the reblog icon on dashboard icons, fixed icons in blog viewport
V8.1: Fixed issue with icons not working on soft-refresh & with endless scrolling disabled - be sure to complain to staff!
v9.3: Changed a few things with the search feature, I also made the posts less round.
UPDATE2 11/04/2024: SO We mighhtttt have overrun their servers. 😅 I'm getting a 500 Internal Server Error every time I try to fix it or upload it as a new style - the massive influx of people downloading the userstyle was probably too much. The Tampermonkey backup on Greasyfork works just fine though! Probably easier for a lot of people migrating anyway! UPDATE 11/04/2024:: My code has broken on Userstyles.world, (it is now fixed as of 12/04/24) until this is fixed I have created a Tampermonkey Backup Version of the Userstyle so feel free to use this version if you've broken yours!
https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/492279-old-tumblr-dasboard-backup
v9.6: Moved the Following | For you | Your Tags to below the create a post panel. Fixed the Accounts Menu! + Bugfixes V10.3: Patio compatibility. Added a way to hide the Patio button & "patio feedback?" button, just search for patio in the code and follow the instructions! v11.0: Temporary Chat feature fix after Tumblr broke it, fixed some positioning issues and j/k scrolling!
v12.3: Fixed a text issue (my bad!), I undid the changes to the replies function and added a way to fix icons order for when you get the communities update!
v12.5: Update to make compatible with the Content Positioning using Tumblr Post Width & More (OTD+ Userstyle) v12.6: Post buttons fixed, icons unable to be fixed yet as I haven't got the tumblr changes just yet - but I will fix them asap!
v11.7: Communities Update, changed the new search bar on communities page to resemble the old one. The search bar still doesn't work on these pages yet for some reason. Blog view icons fixed. v13.0: The icons change should now have a working patchfix! BIG THANK YOU to arcadian-asgardian for sending me the screenshots I needed and testing if it worked. + Minor tweak, communities button resized to fit the rest of the icons better v13.2: Mini fixes now that I have better access to the new changes! Communities icon re-centered, usernames nudged back into place.
V13.5 & v13.7: Nuked the Go Premium button - Re-positioned the search bar on search pages v13.10: Changed a lot of the new look for replies - it's not perfect yet mind. Small bug with the "..." menu moving to the left with shorter replies. Looks a lot more like the old replies section though! Made it possible to remove the reply to reply button just search for "NEW Replies UI" in the userstyle and remove the /* */ around "display: none" OR use Ublock to block the element! v14.1: Reverted the "Original Poster" border + text to look like old version. Edit: Whoops, fixed an issue with showing the timestamps
v13.4: Added a way to fix the communities icon position if you don't have the New Xkit button or have hidden any of the icons. Just remove the highlighted /* */ pair in the code for what you need.
v14.11: Made Premium Perks button available in the bottom left corner for all premium users v15.2: Fixed the Tumblr fuckup AND added a cool new feature that allows you to customise the look of your header & hide the reply-to-replies button if you like, here's how to customise this. Set to "Block" if you want the button/icon visible, Set to "None" if you want it hidden! V15.5: Given labels to options for clarity - now says 'show' or 'hide'!
v15.9: The Boopdate! V16.0: Fixed Search view pages and made them look normal, unfortunately, I can't bring back the dropdown menus for "top"/"All Time" etc - but it should look more like the original now
v16.3: Minor tweaks to make search pages look better
16.10: Fix changes to the notification icons 16.14: Fixed many issues with Tampermonkey Version - including a bug that makes the header go weird when you click on a post, fixed notification icons in small view
16.16: Fixed activity and notifications, they now look like the previous version
16.26: TEMPORARY UPDATE - only changes some aspects of the dashboard - THIS IS FULLY INCOMPLETE AND I AM WORKING ON A FULL FIX FOR THE REST OF THE SITE EDIT: added changes for timestamps!

Dazed
“Princess, we really have to sleep now.”
Tumblr media
Pairing: Tyler Owens x fem! Reader
Genre: Smut, romantic, friends to lovers
Word count: 6k
Summary: You share a bed with Tyler while on the road.
Warnings: Slow burn????, miscommunication trope, oral: male and fem receiving, p in v, unprotected sex.
a/n: Hope y'all enjoy <3 My requests are open, as always!
The engine of the battered pickup truck rumbled, a steady rhythm that matched the thump of your heart in your chest. Raindrops danced across the windshield, each a brief sparkle before the wipers swept them away. Tyler Owens, your best friend and the internet's favorite Tornado Wrangler, gripped the steering wheel, his eyes glued to the road ahead. The headlights carved a tunnel of light through the dark, storm-soaked night. His profile, silhouetted against the dashboard's glow, was as familiar to you as the back of your own hand.
In the backseat, Boone and Lily were lost in their own world, their voices a low murmur of excitement recounting the day's chase. The electricity of the storms had carried over into their banter, their laughter echoing off the plastic interior. You couldn't help but smile at their boundless energy. They were the yin to your yang, the thrill-seekers to your analytical mind.
The truck's tires crunched over gravel as Tyler steered into the motel parking lot. The neon sign flickered above, casting an eerie glow over the puddles that had formed in the dips of the asphalt. Raindrops tapped a staccato beat on the metal roof as the wind picked up. The motel looked like a tired old warrior that had seen too many battles, but it was home for the night. Tyler put the truck in park and turned off the engine, the sudden silence punctuated only by the distant rumble of thunder.
You grabbed your backpack and climbed out, stretching your legs. Your knees popped from the hours spent in the cramped space. Boone and Lily followed, their excitement not dampened by the rain. You all dashed towards the office, the cold air biting at your skin. Inside, the warmth and the smell of stale coffee greeted you. The clerk, a woman with a beehive hairdo, squinted at you over her glasses. She looked like she'd been there since the dawn of time, her expression a mix of boredom and skepticism.
While Tyler checked in, you pulled out your phone, the screen lighting up your face in the dimly lit room. A flurry of notifications fluttered down, a mix of weather updates and messages from your friends and family worrying about your safety. You quickly typed out a reassuring reply to your mom, promising to stay safe and out of the storm's path, despite the adrenaline still coursing through your veins. You felt a pang of guilt for not calling her sooner.
As Tyler approached, a single key dangled from his calloused fingers, catching the light. Your eyes met his, and for a moment, the air between you felt charged. The tension in your relationship was as palpable as the storm outside. He smirked, the corner of his mouth tugging upward, and you couldn't help but feel a jolt of attraction.
"Looks like we're bunking together," he said, his voice low and gruff. "They only had one room left." Tyler's smirk widened as he saw the mixture of emotions flash across your face.
The close quarters of a motel room for the night were bound to create a test of boundaries and emotions. "Don't worry," he added, a hint of genuine reassurance in his voice, "I can always sleep on the floor if you're uncomfortable." Although the offer was sincere, a part of him hoped you'd say no.
“Are you sure you won't mind sleeping on the floor?” you were secretly grateful that he suggested it, knowing you wouldn't be able to sleep if he was in the same bed as you. You walk toward the stairs, heading to the room with Tyler hot on your heels.
Tyler chuckled under his breath at your concern. Of course, he didn't want to sleep on the floor, but he could tell you were relieved by the offer. The thought of spending the night so close to you made his heart race, but he'd never admit it.
"Nah, it's no big deal," he replied, trying to sound nonchalant, masking the disappointment as he followed you up the creaking stairs. "I've slept in worse places."
The motel room was small and cramped. The only source of light came from a single, flickering bulb in the ceiling, casting a dim glow across the room. You jump onto the bed, immediately relaxing into the mattress with a sigh.
“Thank you.” you murmur, voice muffled by the bedding. Tyler chuckled again at the sight of you on the bed, your body sinking into the cheap motel mattress. He leaned his tall frame against the closed door, watching you with a mixture of amusement and something deeper.
"No problem." He said, his voice betraying a hint of fondness beneath his typical gruff exterior. "You deserve a comfortable night's sleep after dealing with me and those storms all day."
“Dealing with you is easy,” you turn over on the mattress, stretching out your limbs with a soft moan.
Tyler's eyes traced your form as you shifted on the bed, the soft moan escaping your lips sending a jolt of electricity through him. He swallowed hard, trying to ignore the effect your casual movement had on him.
"Easy, huh," he teased, his voice slightly strained. "That's good to hear. Sometimes I think I drive you crazy."
“Nah, not at all.” you sit up, grinning at him. “Don’t tell anyone else but you’re my favorite.” you slip out of your shoes.
Tyler's heart skipped a beat at your words, his rugged exterior faltering momentarily. He quickly regained his composure, a smirk spreading across his handsome face as he crossed his arms across his broad chest.
"Oh, am I your favorite, huh? Sounds like I've grown on you." He teased, leaning a shoulder against the wall, the soft glow from the light highlighting the sharp line of his jaw.
You giggle in response, “Close your eyes, I need to change.” you reach for your bag, pulling a t-shirt out. He groans in protest, but closes them nonetheless. You pull at your wet clothes, slipping out of your shirt and pants.
Tyler's breath hitches in his throat as he peeks through his half-closed eyelid, his gaze raking over your bare back. The air in the room suddenly feels thicker, charged with an undertone of want he can't quite ignore.
He quickly snaps his eyes shut, his heart hammering in his chest. He tries to ignore the images now seared in his mind, the way your skin had appeared in the dim light, the faint curve of your silhouette. You slip your t-shirt on, covering up your damp skin.
“Okay, you're good to open your eyes.” you smile warmly. “We should get your floor bed set up before it gets too much later..” you yawn softly, sitting on the edge of the bed, legs still bare.
Tyler opens his eyes, the sight of your bare legs sending another jolt through him. He quickly looks away, trying to regain his composure and focus on the task at hand. "Right," he says, his voice gruff. "Let's get that floor set up."
He grabs an extra blanket from the closet, shaking it out as he walks over to the floor next to the bed. He lays it down, his movements slightly stiff and awkwardly, his mind still occupied with the images of your naked back.
You help him put things together, placing the towels on the floor for some padding and placing a pillow down for him. “You’re sure you don't want me to sleep on the floor?”
Tyler waves away your concern, his usual rough demeanor slipping back into place. "No, it's fine," he reassures you, a hint of stubbornness in his voice. "You take the bed. I've slept in worse places."
He sits down on the makeshift bed, testing the thickness with a hand before laying down and folding his arms behind his head. You turn the light off and slip under the covers, “Okay, Goodnight Ty.” you murmur, voice soft as you cuddle into the sheets.
Tyler watches as you settle into the bed, the dim light casting shadows across your face. He swallows hard, the urge to reach out and touch you almost overwhelming.
"Good night," he replies gruffly, his voice thick. "Get some sleep."
He shifts on the floor, the makeshift bed feeling even more uncomfortable now that you're so close yet so far. He turns over, facing away from you, the silence in the room deafening.
Almost 30 minutes have gone by with you restless and shivering with the coldness of the room. You toss and turn in the bed, mind focused on Tyler laying on the floor, you sigh while biting down on your lip. You move to the edge of the mattress, looking down at his body.
“Tyler?” you whisper his name, reaching down to touch his arm gently. “Are you still awake?” Tyler jolts slightly at the feel of your touch, his senses on high alert. He'd been trying to sleep, his mind stubbornly refusing to quiet down, especially with you in such close proximity.
He turns over, his gaze meeting yours in the dark. The shadows of his face are sharp and defined, his eyes reflecting the scant light. "Yeah," he replies quietly, his voice gruff. "I'm awake. What's wrong?"
“I can't sleep…” you mutter, “I’m too cold...” Tyler's expression softens at your words, his gruff exterior melting away. He can hear the note of vulnerability in your voice, the quiet admission of discomfort sending a pang through his chest.
"You’re cold?" he asks unnecessarily, already knowing the answer. He hesitates for a moment, his mind battling with his body’s need to be close to you. He sits up with a sigh, pushing the blanket off him. "Move over."
You scoot over, giving him space on the bed. Tyler stands and crawls into the bed next to you, the mattress shifting under his weight. The small bed suddenly feels even tinier with his large frame next to you. He lies on his back, keeping a small gap between the two of you.
"You're always so damn cold," he mutters, wrapping an arm behind his head. "You gonna be able to sleep now?" you move to his side, cuddling into his body as you rest your cheek on his chest.
“Mhm,” your legs press into his as you exhale contentedly. Tyler's eyes snap open as you cuddle into his side, your soft body molding against him. A rush of sensations wash over him, the feeling of your skin against his, the weight of your head on his chest. He stiffens slightly as you press your legs into his, the contact sending a jolt of electricity through him.
He tries to steady his breathing, trying to ignore the way his heart is racing. He clears his throat, the sound harsh in the quiet of the room. "You're... comfortable like this?" he asks, his voice slightly strained.
“Are you not?” you pull away slightly, looking up at him with widened eyes. Tyler's heart clenches at your question, the sight of your wide, concerned eyes looking up at him sending a pang through his chest.
"No," he replies gruffly, his voice betraying a hint of vulnerability. "I'm not uncomfortable...just..." He pauses, trying to find the words. The truth is, he's struggling to cope with the onslaught of emotions swirling inside him.
The feel of your body against him, your soft scent swirling around him...it's too much, and yet it's not enough. "Don't move.." you cuddle back into his side, breasts pressing into him as your hand rests on his abdomen.
Tyler's breath hitches in his throat as you press into him, the feel of your body against his, sending his mind reeling. He curses internally, his body reacting against his will, the heat in his gut flaring hotter.
He tries to concentrate on breathing, to not give in to the desire coursing through him. "Just... stay like this for a while..."
Tyler watches as you fall asleep, a mixture of relief and disappointment washing over him. He had been fighting the entire time to keep his feelings under control, his body yearning for you in a way he hadn't felt before.
Tyler's eyes are fixed on the ceiling, the silence of the room broken only by your soft breathing. He's hyper-aware of every movement you make, his senses on high alert.
As you shift away from him, turning onto your side, his body instinctively follows, moving closer to yours. Without thinking, his arm snakes around your waist, pulling you back against his body. You unconsciously press back against him, your ass rubbing against his crotch as you cuddle into his warm grasp.
Tyler clenches his jaw, his breath catching in his throat as you press back against him, your firm backside grinding into his groin. Unbidden, images flood his mind, his body reacting eagerly to the contact.
"Jesus," he mutters, his voice gruff and strained. "You're driving me insane..."
He clenches his fist, the feel of your body against his making his mind spin. He tries to shift away, to give himself some distance, but your warmth is drawing him in, making it impossible to think straight.
His words startle you awake, along with the hardness pressing into your body. Your eyes widen as you realize the position the two of you are in, breathing quickening.
Tyler immediately curses himself as he feels you stir in his arms, realizing he had spoken aloud. He can feel your body stiffen against him, the change in your breathing sending a mixture of desire and panic through him.
He quickly pulls away, disentangling himself from you as best he can. He sits up on the edge of the bed, running a hand through his hair in frustration.
"Sorry..." he mutters gruffly, his voice thick with tension. "Didn't mean to wake you.." you turn over looking at his bare back. You feel warmness pooling in your stomach as your eyes flick over his twitching muscles.
You reach out, brushing your fingertips over his spine. “Ty?” Tyler's body tenses as he feels your fingertips brushing against his spine. A shiver runs through him at the contact, his body responding eagerly despite his turmoil.
He's hyper-aware of your presence behind him, your touch sending a jolt through his body. The heat radiating off his skin is almost palpable.
"Yeah?" he replies gruffly, his voice hoarse. His shoulders are taut, muscles bunching under your touch.
You sit up, resting on your knees as you come up behind him, arms wrapping around his waist. “Where are you going?” you murmur, cheek pressing into his shoulder.
Tyler's breath catches in his throat as you wrap your arms around his waist, your body pressing into his back. The feel of your skin against his, the gentle warmth of your cheek against his shoulder...it's all he can do not to turn and pull you into his lap.
Tyler's breath hitches as you wrap your arms around his waist, the feel of your body pressed against his back sending a shot of heat straight through him. He's painfully aware of your closeness, your scent filling his senses, your skin warm against his.
He stiffens instinctively, his body struggling to reconcile the overwhelming desire with the need to keep control. "Nowhere," he mutters gruffly, his voice low. "Just need a minute..."
“A minute?” you run a hand down his abs, fingertips brushing over his muscles. “Should I give you some space?” you murmur.
Tyler's breath hitches again, your touch leaving a trail of fire on his skin. He clenches his jaw, every nerve ending in his body screaming for more of your touch.
But he knows he needs to maintain control. He can't give in to the raw desire coursing through him. "Probably.." he manages through gritted teeth, his voice strained. "Need to cool off.."
You reluctantly pull away, laying back on the bed with your back to him once again. Disappointment written on your face as you hug a pillow, cuddling into the sheets.
He turns, watching as you hug a pillow, cuddling into the mattress. He fights the impulse to reach out, to pull you back into his arms. Instead, he clenches his fists, his knuckles turning white.
"Hey..." he murmurs gruffly, his voice softer than before. He reaches out a hand, gently placing it on your shoulder. "Don't... don’t take it the wrong way, okay? It's not you. It's... me."
“It’s okay..” you slip out of bed, heading toward the bathroom. Closing the door you sink down against it, silently cursing yourself for what happened.
Tyler watches as you head into the bathroom, the door closing with a soft click. He exhales deeply, scrubbing a hand over his face in frustration. He can’t stand the thought of you closing yourself off from him, the sight of you pulling away feeling like a punch to the gut.
He stands and walks over to the door, gently knocking on it. “Hey... can I come in?” you stay silent, resting your chin on your knees as you move away from the door. Incase he tries to open it.
Tyler hears your silence, the lack of response causing his heart to sink further. He takes a deep breath, his knuckles rapping on the door again.
"C'mon... you're freakin' me out here," he tries to joke, his voice strained. "I just need to see you, to talk to you. Just for a minute. Please..."
“The door is unlocked…” you murmur, voice nearly a whisper.
Tyler's heart skips a beat as he hears your soft voice, the sound like music to his ears despite the circumstances. He slowly turns the handle, pushing open the door. He steps into the bathroom, his gaze immediately falling on your form huddled on the floor. He drops down beside you, keeping a small space between you.
“There you are,” he says quietly, relief flooding through him at the sight of you. You bite your lip, staying curled up seeking comfort in your own body.
“Can..” you begin, voice cracking. “Can we just pretend nothing happened?” You keep your gaze trained on the floor.
Tyler's stomach drops at the sound of your cracked voice, the words sending a pang through him. He knew you were upset, but he hadn't expected your request.
He reaches out, gently tucking a strand of hair behind your ear. "No," he murmurs, his voice firm yet gentle. "I don't want to pretend, not about this. Not with you."
“Tyler..” you murmur, grabbing his wrist gently as you pull his hand away from you. Tyler's hand tingles at the feel of your hand grasping his wrist, the touch sending a jolt through him. Despite your distance, he can't help but crave your touch.
He clenches his jaw, struggling to keep his emotions in check. "No, listen to me," he says firmly, his eyes glued to yours. "We're not just gonna gloss over this like it's nothing. Not after what happened."
“But nothing happened.” you protest, avoiding his gaze. Tyler's frustration flares at your protest, his eyes narrowing.
"Nothing happened?" he echoes, his voice tinged with disbelief. "You're kidding me, right? You were in my arms, pressed against me, and nothing happened?" He huffs in frustration, raking a hand through his hair. "Dammit, you’re pissing me off. Stop acting like this doesn't mean something."
“But *you* don’t want it.” you murmur, turning your back to him once again. Tyler's anger immediately extinguishes at your murmured words, guilt seizing him like a vice.
He reaches out, grabbing your shoulder to turn you back towards him, his grip gentle but firm. "I never said that," he refutes, his tone sharp. "I *do* want you. You have no idea how badly I want you…"
“But you,” you sigh, turning to face him. “Then why did you want me to give you space? I thought..” your eyebrows furrow as you trail off.
"Because, I'm trying to keep my head straight,” he begins, his voice strained. “You drive me crazy, you know that? The way you feel in my arms, your scent, your skin against mine... It's like I'm losing control when I'm near you." you look up at him, eyes vulnerable as you chew on your bottom lip.
Tyler's heart clenches as he looks into your vulnerable eyes, the sight sending a wave of protectiveness through him. He gently brushes his thumb across your bottom lip, stilling your nervous habit.
"Stop biting your lip," he mutters gently, his voice gruff. "You'll make it bleed." you open your mouth to protest, but find your mind clouded with his touch.
Tyler watches as your mouth opens, the sight sending a jolt of heat through him. His thumb rests on your lip, the skin of your mouth unbelievably soft under his touch.
He swallows hard, fighting the mounting tension between you. "Don't tempt me…" he whispers, his voice strained. "You've no clue what you do to me.."
“Tyler..” you move closer to him, eyebrows furrowing. “Please, don't push me away this time..” you cup his cheek, lips hovering over his. A shudder runs through Tyler at your proximity, and he almost gasps aloud as your lips hover millimeters from his. His pulse races, his body begging for more of your touch.
“You're killing me,” he mutters hoarsely, his hand coming up to rest on your wrist. “I'm trying… to be good…” He closes his eyes, fighting against the overwhelming urge to close the distance between you with a kiss.
You press your lips to his in a gentle kiss, hesitating to move any closer until he reacts. Tyler lets out a low, guttural sound as your lips meet his, his mind momentarily shorting out. The sensation of your kiss sparks a fire within him, every nerve ending singing to life.
His hand tightens around your wrist, holding your hand against his face. He responds to the kiss tentatively at first, his lips moving against yours in a feather-light touch. But as the tension mounts, so does the desperation in his movements. He deepens the kiss, his tongue tracing the seam of your lips.
You moan as his tongue fights with yours, settling on his lap, your arms moving to wrap around his neck. Tyler groans as you moan into his mouth, the sound driving him wild. He slides his hands around your waist, settling you on his lap.
He feels like he can't get close enough to you, his hands clutching at your sides as his tongue explores your mouth. He pulls you against him, his body pressed against yours, desperately seeking more contact.
You pull back, gasping for air. Tyler follows your mouth as you pull back, unwilling to let you go. He's breathing heavily, his chest heaving as he gasps for air.
He rests his forehead against yours, his eyes dark and filled with desire. "You're gonna be the death of me, you know that?" he murmurs huskily, his hands still gripping your hips.
“I want you,” you slip your hands into his hair, pressing your chest against his. Tyler's breath catches in his throat as you tangle your hands in his hair, your body pressing against his. The feel of your chest against his is maddening, his body responding instantly.
"You have me," he murmurs, his words a guttural response. His hands roam your body, desperate to touch every inch of you. "You have me completely, sweetheart."
“That's not what I mean,” you whine, guiding his hands up your shirt as you press kisses to his neck.
Tyler groans as you guide his hands under your shirt, the feel of your skin against his driving him wild. Your kisses on his neck send a shiver through him, his breathing becoming faster and more erratic.
"What... what do you mean then?" he asks, his voice strained as his hands explore the bare skin of your torso. You pull your shirt away, exposing yourself to him fully.
“I want you.. To stop trying to control your desire..” you look at him with a needy gaze.
Tyler's eyes darken as you pull away your shirt, his gaze drinking in every inch of your exposed skin. The sight of you, bare before him, sends a jolt of pure, primal desire through him. He inhales sharply, his hands gripping your hips, his voice strangled. "Are you... are you sure about this?" he manages to ask, resisting the wild urge to claim you right there.
“Please don’t make me beg,” you bring his hands to your breasts, your hips grinding down against his with desperation.
The feel of your hips grinding against his elicits a guttural moan from deep in Tyler's chest, his hands involuntarily squeezing your breasts.
He grits his teeth, his body taut and strained. "You're... damn, you're gonna kill me," he growls, his voice thick with barely-controlled lust. "I need you... but I don't want to hurt you, sweetheart..."
“Ty, please. I need you..” With a feral groan, Tyler scoops you into his arms, your legs instinctively wrapping around his waist. He strides out of the bathroom, the urgency in his steps echoing his racing heart. Gently, he sets you down on the bed, the mattress dipping slightly under your weight.
Your eyes lock with his, the heat between you threatening to set the room on fire. He leans over you, his hand sliding under the pillow to prop your head up, his gaze never leaving yours. The intensity of his stare sends a thrill down your spine, your breath hitching in anticipation.
Rain continues to pound against the motel window, the rhythm of the drops mirroring the thunder of his heart. Tyler's rough, calloused thumb traces the outline of your panties, the fabric already damp from your arousal. He leans in, capturing your mouth in a bruising kiss, his tongue delving deep, claiming you as his own.
You arch your back, pushing your breasts against his chest, the friction causing a delicious ache. He breaks the kiss, his breath hot against your neck, and whispers, "You're mine now, understand?" His voice is a mix of demand and passion, leaving no room for doubt.
With a need that seemed to have been building for an eternity, Tyler slides out of his own damp clothes, his eyes never leaving you. His movements are swift and sure, a silent declaration of his intentions. He kneels between your thighs, parting them gently, and your breath catches in your throat as his warm mouth descends on your center.
The sensation of his tongue against your sensitive flesh sends shockwaves of pleasure through your body, making your toes curl and your back arch. His touch is tender yet insistent, as if he's been craving this moment for just as long as you have. He laps at you with a passionate hunger, exploring every fold and crevice with a finesse that makes your eyes roll back in your head.
You moan, your nails digging into the mattress as he worships you with his mouth, your body responding to his every touch, his every caress. The storm outside seems to echo the tumult within the room, the thunder a backdrop to the symphony of your gasps and his murmurs of satisfaction. As Tyler's tongue works its magic, the only thing that matters is the here and now, the fiery connection that burns brighter than any lightning bolt.
As the storm outside rages on, Tyler continues to taste the sweetness of your release, his tongue lapping at you greedily. Your body shudders and arches off the bed, your nails digging into the mattress as you cry out his name.
He grips your hips tightly, not letting you pull away from the intense pleasure he's giving you. His eyes meet yours, dark with lust and satisfaction as he watches the ecstasy play out on your face. You're lost in the moment, your climax like a powerful tempest crashing over you, leaving you breathless and trembling in its wake.
As the last waves of pleasure subside, Tyler kisses his way up your body, leaving a trail of hot, wet kisses along your skin, savoring every inch of you. His strong arms lift you off the bed, cradling you as he stands, his eyes never leaving yours, the heat between you more potent than the electricity in the air outside.
With a renewed sense of urgency, you shift down Tyler's body, your eyes never leaving his. You take his erection in your hand, the heat and firmness of him making your stomach flutter. His eyes widen, his breath catching as your touch sends a shiver through him.
You lean in, placing a gentle kiss on the tip before taking him into your mouth, your hand moving in a slow, deliberate rhythm. Tyler's hips buck slightly, his eyes squeezing shut as a groan rips from his chest. The sound is like music to your ears, spurring you on as you deepen the kiss, taking him deeper into your mouth.
His hands find their way into your hair, his grip tightening as your tongue swirls around his length. The storm outside seems to crescendo with every stroke, the thunder echoing the beating of your hearts in perfect harmony.
His breathing becomes ragged, his body tensing with each movement of your mouth, each flick of your tongue. It's a dance of passion, a silent conversation of need and want, and Tyler is powerless to resist the siren call of your touch.
You continue to suck him off with an enthusiasm that speaks of a deep-seated desire, your eyes locked on his as the storm outside mirrors the tempest within the room. Tyler's hips stutter, and with a ragged groan, he pulls your lips away, his chest heaving.
He captures your mouth in a desperate kiss, his hands moving to cradle your face as his body tenses. His cock throbs in your hand, and with a few more strokes, he releases a hot, thick rope of cum that you catch in your palm. His grip on your face tightens as he gasps into your mouth, the taste of him mingling with the saltiness of the air between you.
The storm outside seems to hold its breath, the thunder pausing for a moment as if in awe of the power of your shared passion. His body relaxes, and he collapses back onto the bed, pulling you with him.
You lay there, panting, your heart racing as the storm outside slowly begins to abate, leaving in its wake a tension-filled silence filled only with the sound of your intertwined breathing. The room is a cocoon of heat and desire, the air thick with the scent of sex and the promise of more to come.
With the storm outside now a distant rumble, Tyler pulls you closer, the warmth of your bodies melding together as one. His strong arms encircle you, and you feel the rapid thump of his heartbeat against your chest, matching the tempo of your own.
He gently rolls you onto your side, spooning you as he lays his head on the pillow, his voice a low murmur in your ear. "We need to get some rest," he says, his breath warm against your neck. "Tomorrow's another day of chasing storms, and I need you by my side."
His words are a comforting balm to the storm of emotions swirling within you, the passion of the moment giving way to a gentle, post-coital haze. You nod, nestling deeper into his embrace, feeling safe and cherished in his arms. His grip tightens for a brief moment before loosening slightly, allowing you to breathe, to feel the weight of his love surrounding you.
You close your eyes, your body finally relaxing into the welcoming embrace of sleep, the steady beat of Tyler's heart lulling you into a peaceful oblivion. The motel room, once cold and uninviting, now feels like home, the thunder outside a gentle lullaby serenading the beginnings of a love that promises to be as fierce and unpredictable as the storms you chase together.
As your ass brushes against his now hardening cock, Tyler's body stiffens and he groans softly into your ear, his breath hot and shaky. You feel his need, his want, and your own desire stirs once more, a sweet ache blooming in your core.
You reach back, your hand finding him, and guide him to your wet, welcoming entrance. He's thick and heavy in your hand, and the anticipation is almost too much to bear. You lean into him, pressing your back against his chest as you align him with your body, feeling his heat and his need.
With a gentle push, you invite him in, the feeling of him filling you up making you gasp. Tyler's arms tighten around you, his breathing hitching as he sinks into your warmth, the storm outside a distant echo to the tempest of passion within the room. His hips move in a slow, steady rhythm, the sound of rain and thunder mingling with the slap of skin on skin.
You moan, the pleasure of his possession a sweet agony that sends waves of ecstasy through you, your body moving in perfect sync with his, the storm outside a testament to the intensity of your union.
The tender strokes of Tyler's cock inside you elicit moans that grow increasingly needy, the tempo of the storm outside matching the rhythm of your bodies. Each thrust is a declaration of his love, a gentle reminder of the passion that burns between you.
His fingers trace the curve of your hip, his other hand cupping your breast, the softness of your skin a stark contrast to the hardness of his grip. He whispers sweet nothings into your ear, his breath hot and ragged as he worships your body with his own. The tender love in his touch is a stark contrast to the wildness of your earlier encounter, yet the intensity of your connection remains unchanged.
Your hips rock back to meet his, the slickness of your arousal guiding him deeper with every movement. The storm outside may be fading, but the storm of passion within the room shows no signs of abating, the thunder a constant reminder of the powerful bond that you've forged.
Tyler's rhythm picks up, his hips slamming into yours with a ferocity that matches the dying storm outside. You feel him swell inside you, his strokes growing more intense as he hits your g-spot with every thrust. The pleasure is so intense, your eyes roll back in your head, and you let out a strangled cry.
The storm's final roar is nothing compared to the thunderous crescendo of your orgasm, your body tightening around him, your muscles clenching him tightly. Tyler grunts, his own release imminent, his hands gripping your hips as he drives into you, one last time, burying himself deep.
With a final, guttural groan, he spills inside you, his hot cum filling you up as your walls pulse around him. The room falls still, the only sounds are the steady patter of rain and the rapid thump of your hearts, synchronized in the aftermath of your passionate storm.
He stays inside for a while, kissing your shoulders and neck gently before he pulls out. “Princess, we really have to sleep now.” He sighs softly, laying on his back and pulling you to his chest.
Your cheek presses against his shoulder as you cuddle closer. “Mhm, fine.. Goodnight Ty.”
“Goodnight, sweetheart.” he kisses the top of your head.

The sun shone high in the sky as Y/N and Matt got into the car, ready to face the journey to the dentist's office.
"You're going to be okay, honey." Matt said as he arranged himself in the driver's seat, casting a quick glance of genuine concern in his girlfriend's direction, who spent the entire morning glued to himself, exposing her fear into emotions and complaints.
Y/N smiled small, buckling her seatbelt and moving her body above the upholstered so she found a comfortable position, trying to shake off the bad thoughts about the surgery.
"I hope so, but I can't promise I won't put on a little show in there." The girl joked, trying to relax the atmosphere, resting her hands on her thighs so that her slightly sweaty palms were in contact with the fabric of her jeans.
"I doubt you're the worst patient they've ever seen." The boy laughed as he started the car, turning his head to his right and sending her a wink.
Nick and Chris quickly settled into the middle seats of the car, each of them with a reassuring smile on their face. Nick held the camera firmly in his hands, lowering his gaze to the screen and changing a few settings.
They were like brothers to Y/N, and their presence there was comforting for her.
“Ready for the adventure, Y/N?” Chris asked with a mischievous smile, rubbing the palm of his hands before leaning his body forward and placing his upper body on the car console so that he could see the girl's reaction more closely, placing his right hand on the back of her seat to stabilize himself.
A loud curse from Nick was heard, the boy complaining that Chris was blocking the camera's view before forcefully pulling him back against his own seat.
"If by adventurous you mean a terrifying one, then yes." The girl sighed, ignoring their bickering while pretending to be excited before closing her eyes tightly, pressing the bridge of her nose with the index finger and thumb of her right hand, trying to relieve some of the tension there.
During the first few minutes of the trip, Y/N tried to remain calm, but anxiety began to seep into her chest, leaving a metallic taste in her mouth. She looked at the clock on the car dashboard and saw that there were still twenty minutes until they arrived at the office, even though it seemed like they had already been inside the car for hours.
"Matt, I changed my mind. Can we go home?" Y/N interrupted Chris's yapping from the backseat, her voice trembling slightly as her hands balled into fists above her thighs, a result of her nervousness.
Matt glanced at her quickly before returning his attention to the road ahead, taking his right hand off the steering wheel briefly and moving it towards his girl, reaching blindly for her own, intertwining their fingers and giving hers a firm and comforting squeeze.
"You're kidding, right? We're already halfway there, my love. Look, it's going to be okay. I promise." The brunette murmured gently, trying to calm her nerves as he kept his attention on the road, frowning slightly in concentration.
"I know, it's just... I hate dentists so much, and I don't know if I want to take anesthesia." The girl admitted, shrugging her shoulders as she forced a small smile, squeezing Matt's hand back.
"Don't worry, girl, we'll be in the room with you the entire time." Nick said from the backseat, his voice sounding comforting, interrupting whatever negative thoughts Y/N's mind was creating at that moment, earning a weak nod in response.
The minutes dragged by slowly as the car made its way down the road. Y/N tried to distract herself by looking out the window, but the sight of buildings and businesses quickly passing by only increased her agitation.
"Have you thought about what you're going to do with your wisdom teeth after they're removed?" Chris asked suddenly, interrupting the tense silence as he kept his eyes fixed on the scenery outside the vehicle.
Y/N blinked, surprised by the sudden question.
"Well, I thought I'd ask the doctor to keep them for me. Maybe I could make a necklace-" The girl interrupted her own sentence, widening her eyes and turning her torso to her left side abruptly, gripping the side of her own seat with her right hand so that she could look at the back and the driver's seat at the same time. "No, wait, I can put it under my pillow, right?" The volume of her voice rose quickly, sudden excitement dripping into her words.
"Pillow? Why would-"
"For the tooth fairy, obviously! I'm going to remove four wisdom teeth. Do you know how much money I could make from that? I don't, but I know it's a lot!" She rambled, breaking into a big smile as her eyes went from Matt to Nick and Chris and back again.
"It's 40 dollars, Y/N." Nick responded in an amused tone, turning to Chris and letting out a silent laugh. The youngest shrugged, leaning over the space between one seat and another and taking the camera from Nick's hands.
"They can't give your teeth back, honey. When they take them out, your teeth turn to dust." Matt said as if he was speaking to a child, a hidden smile growing on his face as he kept his eyes straight ahead, raising them momentarily to the rearview mirror and casting an amused glance at Nick, who was already looking back at him, knowing he was joking.
"No! Babe, don't say that. Are you serious?" Y/N screamed, her eyes widening comically before tears began to well up in her eyes, shining against the sunlight, her mouth forming an involuntary pout.
"Oh no, don't cry. If you cry, I'll cry, too." Nick noticed her tearful expression, closing his eyes tightly and bringing the palm of his hands to his own, rubbing his blue orbs harshly, trying to shake off his own emotions.
"Oh no, Nick, don't you dare cry-" Chris's voice was interrupted by a loud sob coming from Y/N, which tore from her throat, tears escaping her eyes without permission.
Her ears quickly caught the loud laughter of Matt and Chris, and Nick's sniffles, while her boyfriend squeezed her hand tightly, trying to convey support and reassurance even though he was laughing at her sensitive state.
As they got closer to the office, Y/N's heart started to beat faster. She felt a mixture of fear and excitement bubbling inside her and knew that soon she would be facing the inevitable.
"I think I'm having a panic attack." The girl murmured, her voice muffled by the crying she had minutes before as her nose sniffled repeatedly.
"No, you're not." Matt said amused, rolling his eyes playfully before squeezing Y/N's hand one last time, slowly releasing it and taking his back to the wheel so that he could concentrate on entering the building's parking lot, parking the car in one of the free spaces closest to the main entrance.
Y/N took a deep breath, trying to calm her nerves as she exited the vehicle with the help of her boyfriend. She knew she had a long road ahead, but with Matt and the triplets by her side, she felt like she could face the situation she had put off for so many weeks. And so, with one last sigh, she entered the office.
     ༻﹡﹡﹡﹡﹡﹡﹡༺
Y/N was already in the dental chair, nervously looking up at the white ceiling as the doctor prepared everything around her. She could feel her heart hammering in her chest as her hands sweated nervously. Matt caressed her right shoulder firmly and carefully, conveying the silent support she needed so much at that moment.
"Are you okay, sweetheart?" Matt asked, tilting his head down so he could look better at her.
"Of course I am." She responded, swallowing hard, trying to force a smile while focusing her eyes on his, though her voice betrayed her anxiety.
Nick and Chris were a little further away, on her right side and close to the large wall of windows, their expressions a mixture of concern and unsuccessful attempts to hide their laughter. The fact that Nick knew what the feeling and procedure was like made him more amused by her present and future state.
As the doctor began moving equipment, Y/N watched curiously. She extended her right arm, allowing one of the nurses to attach the blood pressure and heart rate monitor to the correct location, feeling a shiver run down her spine. This was getting very real very fast.
"I feel like an astronaut about to take off." Y/N teased, biting her bottom lip lightly, trying to ease the tension out of herself.
"Well, at least there's no zero gravity to deal with." Nick chuckled softly, zooming the camera to the surrounding equipment before looking at the girl, offering her a reassuring smile.
Chris let out a laugh at his response, it echoing through the office and bringing a bit of lightness to the tense environment.
"I hate that sound. It reminds me of Grey's Anatomy, exactly when a patient is about to die." The girl said suddenly, pointing with her chin at the machine where the sounds of her heart were coming from.
"Hey, don't say that." Matt warned amid laughter, shaking his head while still caressing her shoulder, squeezing the area gently to relieve her muscle tension.
As the doctor began to prepare the IV, Y/N felt a wave of panic pass through her body. She looked at the thin tube with wide eyes and an expression of horror, watching him take off the cover and connect the wire to the syringe with the anesthesia.
"Matt." She muttered in a shaky voice, her lips trembling again as she clenched her right hand into a fist, accidentally letting the heart rate meter slip out.
"Hey, pretty girl, I'm right here. I won't leave your side, I promise. When you wake up, we can get ice cream from that ice cream shop you love, huh?" Matt curved his spine slightly so that his face was close to hers, holding her chin with his free hand and pulling it towards him, looking deep into his girl's eyes.
Chris quickly moved forward, taking her best friend's right hand gently and arranging the meter back into its correct place.
The doctor finished preparing the IV and approached Y/N with it, extending the girl's left arm gently and cleaning the injection site. Y/N forced herself to keep her eyes fixed on the blue ones she loved, Matt quickly acting to cover the exposed side of her head with the palm of his free hand, creating a covering over her eyes.
The girl her breath as the doctor inserted the needle into her vein, feeling it enter centimeter by centimeter, but to her surprise, it didn't hurt as much as she expected.
"It's not that bad." The girl murmured seconds after feeling the needle not moving anymore, feeling a little relieved, blinking repeatedly in an attempt to keep the tears away.
"See? You're doing so good, my love. My brave girl." Matt smiled big, tilting his face forward and kissing her forehead gently.
As the anesthesia began to take effect, Y/N felt a tingling sensation spread throughout her body. She blinked a few times, trying to get used to the strange sensation and regain her vision, which was becoming slightly blurred.
"When did the ceiling start dancing?" Y/N asked, interrupting what Nick was reporting to the camera, her eyes fixed on the ceiling that seemed to be moving erratically.
Matt laughed softly, his hand - still on his girlfriend's shoulder - shook slightly from the action, being followed by Chris and Nick, their laughter filling the office.
"I think the anesthesia is taking effect." Chris watched in amusement, crossing his arms and approaching, his voice sounding a little distant to the girl's ears.
Y/N laughed, feeling lighter than ever, blinking slowly.
"I never thought I'd say this, but I think I'm really enjoying it." She said groggily, her voice sounding sleepy as she gave in to the anesthesia.
"Baby-" Matt began, his speech being interrupted by his own laughter, his index and thumb fingers pinching the bridge of his nose in disbelief. "What's your word, love?"
But the answer didn't come, his girlfriend having given herself over to a deep anesthesia-induced sleep.
     ༻﹡﹡﹡﹡﹡﹡﹡༺
Y/N blinked her eyes slowly, trying to focus her vision as the haze of sleep began to dissipate. She felt groggy and disoriented, but a sense of relief washed over her body when she understood that the surgery was over. She blinked a few times, trying to take in her surroundings.
“Hi, Y/N, how are you feeling?” Nick asked in a calm tone, leaning closer to her with a gentle smile, giving space for the camera in Chris' hands to capture the moment.
Y/N turned her head towards him, blinking slowly, her mind still clouded trying to assimilate that it was Nick there with her.
"As if I'd been run over by an elephant." She murmured, her voice sounding strangely loud to her own ears, shaking her head from side to side as fast as she could, trying to stay conscious.
Matt entered the room again, having gone away for some minutes to talk to the doctor about post-surgical care, his serious face lighting up when he noticed Y/N already awake.
"Look who's back! Are you okay, sweetheart?" The boy asked, extending out his hand and reaching for hers, holding it tenderly and firmly, stroking the back of her palm with his thumb.
"I-" As soon as Y/N opened her mouth to speak, one of the gauze that sealed the right side of her mouth above her gums escaped her lips. Her eyes instantly widened, a loud sound of surprise echoing through the room. "Oh no, my tongue fell out."
"Your-" Chris began, his own laughter interrupting his sentence.
Matt turned to the camera, laughing loudly as he closed his eyes tightly, keeping his hand on his girlfriend's shoulder, trying to hide his own reaction from her.
"That's not your tongue, baby." The brunette said while still laughing, shaking his head.
"It is! They made my tongue fall out and removed my cheeks." The girl fumed, rolling her eyes nervously as she tried to cross her arms, the loud alarm sound echoing from the heart rate meter machine abruptly interrupting her action.
"Y/N, you can't take out the meter." Nick warned in a firm tone, arranging the small equipment back on her finger with his free hand.
"I'm sweating, I need to take this off. It's making me overheat." The girl spoke again, ignoring the demanding tone Nick was using, waving her arm with the IV in the air, silently indicating that she was talking about her hoodie.
"But you love wearing hoodie, pretty." Matt murmured, frowning as he leaned over her upper body, lowering her arm gently.
"Not this one! I like yours. Mine is a piece of shit." Y/N exclaimed as if it was obvious, rolling her eyes again.
The sound of Nick's loud laughter echoed off the walls of the small room, as Matt stared at her in disbelief, widening his eyes and taking them from his girl to the camera and back again.
"Here, baby." The boy sighted, taking his hand off Y/N's shoulder momentarily so that he could pull his own hoodie up, passing the piece over his arms before arranging it on the correct side, leaving his own upper body covered only by a white t-shirt. "You can have mine."
Matt stretched the hoodie over Y/N's upper body, keeping it over her own hoodie, knowing he wouldn't be able to take it off due to the IV.
"Thank you, kind sir." Y/N genuinely thanked him, opening a big and childlike smile. "Oh no, take this one off and put yours on me, Matty." She spoke again seconds later after noticing that her boyfriend's hoodie was just resting on her body.
“No way, Y/N, you have the IV.” Chris answered for Matt, briefly pointing to his best friend's left arm.
"What... Wow, what is this? Am I a toy or something?" The girl's tone came out louder than expected, her eyes widening comically as she raised her arm again, seeming to remember just at that moment the small thread that connected the needle to the anesthesia.
"It's the IV, my love. It's harmless, I promise. Does it hurt?" Matt explains gently, leaning into her slightly and squeezing her shoulder gently, drawing her attention back to him.
"No... Are they gonna fix my tongue?" Y/N returned to the first subject in a matter of seconds, lowering her gaze and focusing on the piece of blood red gauze above, now, Matt's hoodie.
"That's not your tongue, Y/N. It's just gauze. Put it back." Nick spoke this time, zooming in on the camera to catch his best friend's next reaction.
"I can't do it. There's an electrical wire connected to me." The girl remembered, rolling her eyes and raising her IV-covered arm, focusing her eyes there for a few seconds.
"Then ask your boyfriend."
"I have a boyfriend?!" Y/N turned her face towards the triplets abruptly, her eyes filling with tears within seconds as her lips trembled comically, even though she herself had been calling Matt "baby" this entire time.
"Of course you do, sweet girl. I'm right here. Remember? I'm your boyfriend, Matt." Matt quickly responded, his tone coming out as gentle as never before. He crouched on the floor, resting on his bent knees so that he was at eye level with her, giving her a genuine smile.
"Oh my God, that's awesome! You're so pretty. How did I manage to win you?" Y/N asked excitedly, raising her right hand and bringing it to her supposed boyfriend's face, cupping his right cheek lightly, feeling the skin heat up beneath her fingers.
A sound of surprise escaped Matt's lips as the heart rate monitor preacher almost stabbed into his eye, a low chuckle following soon after.
"You didn't have to win me, I was the one that had to win you, babe." The boy declared, leaning closer to her and sealing the tip of her nose for long seconds, pulling away in time to see her close her eyes and wrinkle her nose cutely. "We'll go home soon, okay? I love you, sweetheart. You were so brave."
"You love me?" Y/N exclaimed again, the tears that had been in her eyes until that moment finally spilling over and rolling down her cheeks, leaving a wet, red trail behind, her skin reacting instantly to the intense emotions.
"I do, my love. I love you very much."
Nick and Chris watched the scene with eyes full of amusement, the camera capturing every second of the couple's interaction and the muffled laughs that the two emitted behind the lens.
"So, are you comfortable on that "chair"?" Chris asked suddenly, a mischievous smile playing on his lips.
Y/N snapped her head towards the youngest, opening her mouth slightly and processing his question for a few seconds.
"Yeah." The girl nodded slowly, removing her right hand from Matt's face and feeling the upholstery of the chair beneath her.
"Is it better than my gaming chair?" Nick asked then, smiling behind the camera, briefly remembering the times his best friend found refuge in his room and the two spent hours talking while she sat comfortably in his gaming chair.
"Do you have a chair?" She asked with wide eyes, tilting her head up to see Nick better, slightly pushing Matt to the side with her free hand, earning a laugh from Chris when he saw his brother almost fall completely onto the cold floor.
"Yeah, you have one, too! And so does Matt."
"I have a chair? For myself?" Her lips formed an involuntary pout, her eyes filling with tears again, the previous ones having stopped flowing only seconds before, her emotions acting on their own.
"Of course you do, baby! You study on it and play video games on my computer on it, too." Matt stated, nodding quickly as he returned to his previous position. "Now, do you remember who I am?"
Y/N turned her gaze back to Matt again, her orbs traveling over every detail of his face, her lower lip trembling slightly as her heart clenched tightly inside her chest. He was so beautiful.
"My baby, my baby-" A sob interrupted her speech, tears escaping her eyes like waterfalls. "You're my baby. I love you s-so much. You're- You're so p-pretty!"
"Yeah, sweet girl! Well done, I'm your baby, and I love you way more." The brunette replied in a bashful tone, pouting as he watched her cry like a little kid over something so simple, his own eyes welling with tears.
"You two are unbelievable." Chris shook his head, crossing his arms and looking into the camera lens with a look of "do you believe this?"
"Matty." The girl called again a few seconds later, ignoring the youngest of the triplets, closing her eyes tightly to wipe away the tears stuck in her eyelashes, her nose sniffling repeatedly. She took a deep breath and sticked her swollen tongue out of her mouth, trying to lick the tears that rested on her upper lip, even without feeling absolutely anything in the region. "I think my mouth is on its period..."
"Oh my God, baby, what?"

There's a post going around bsky about how to "somewhat AI proof your work" that tells authors to create a custom work skin that disables the ability for text in their fic to be selected, meaning it can't be copy-pasted, which means it can't be scraped.
This is only true in the weakest sense, and I'm putting this out before I see it hit over here because it will not work, and in fact it will kill accessibility to your fic.
See, in your preferences dashboard, you can literally disable custom work skins with a single tickybox:
Tumblr media
So all anyone has to do is select that option and they can continue to copy your fics into shatGPT to their heart's content.
You know what doing this does do, though? It makes it impossible for screenreaders to scan your fic for vision-impaired readers. I hope that most of them already have this option selected, but for those that don't, they may not even be aware it exists, and you've cut them off in exchange for "AI protection" on-par with a wet paper towel.
I hate genAI as much as anyone, but don't fucking do this.

Epic Systems, a lethal health record monopolist
Tumblr media
Epic Systems makes the dominant electronic health record (EHR) system in America; if you're a doctor, chances are you are required to use it, and for every hour a doctor spends with a patient, they have to spend two hours doing clinically useless bureaucratic data-entry on an Epic EHR.
How could a product so manifestly unfit for purpose be the absolute market leader? Simple: as Robert Kuttner describes in an excellent feature in The American Prospect, Epic may be a clinical disaster, but it's a profit-generating miracle:
https://prospect.org/health/2024-10-01-epic-dystopia/
At the core of Epic's value proposition is "upcoding," a form of billing fraud that is beloved of hospital administrators, including the "nonprofit" hospitals that generate vast fortunes that are somehow not characterized as profits. Here's a particularly egregious form of upcoding: back in 2020, the Poudre Valley Hospital in Ft Collins, CO locked all its doors except the ER entrance. Every patient entering the hospital, including those receiving absolutely routine care, was therefore processed as an "emergency."
In April 2020, Caitlin Wells Salerno – a pregnant biologist – drove to Poudre Valley with normal labor pains. She walked herself up to obstetrics, declining the offer of a wheelchair, stopping only to snap a cheeky selfie. Nevertheless, the hospital recorded her normal, uncomplicated birth as a Level 5 emergency – comparable to a major heart-attack – and whacked her with a $2755 bill for emergency care:
https://pluralistic.net/2021/10/27/crossing-a-line/#zero-fucks-given
Upcoding has its origins in the Reagan revolution, when the market-worshipping cultists he'd put in charge of health care created the "Prospective Payment System," which paid a lump sum for care. The idea was to incentivize hospitals to provide efficient care, since they could keep the difference between whatever they spent getting you better and the set PPS amount that Medicare would reimburse them. Hospitals responded by inventing upcoding: a patient with controlled, long-term coronary disease who showed up with a broken leg would get coded for the coronary condition and the cast, and the hospital would pocket both lump sums:
https://pluralistic.net/2024/06/13/a-punch-in-the-guts/#hayek-pilled
The reason hospital administrators love Epic, and pay gigantic sums for systemwide software licenses, is directly connected to the two hours that doctors spent filling in Epic forms for every hour they spend treating patients. Epic collects all that extra information in order to identify potential sources of plausible upcodes, which allows hospitals to bill patients, insurers, and Medicare through the nose for routine care. Epic can automatically recode "diabetes with no complications" from a Hierarchical Condition Category code 19 (worth $894.40) as "diabetes with kidney failure," code 18 and 136, which gooses the reimbursement to $1273.60.
Epic snitches on doctors to their bosses, giving them a dashboard to track doctors' compliance with upcoding suggestions. One of Kuttner's doctor sources says her supervisor contacts her with questions like, "That appointment was a 2. Don’t you think it might be a 3?"
Robert Kuttner is the perfect journalist to unravel the Epic scam. As a journalist who wrote for The New England Journal of Medicine, he's got an insider's knowledge of the health industry, and plenty of sources among health professionals. As he tells it, Epic is a cultlike, insular company that employs 12.500 people in its hometown of Verona, WI.
The EHR industry's origins start with a GW Bush-era law called the HITECH Act, which was later folded into Obama's Recovery Act in 2009. Obama provided $27b to hospitals that installed EHR systems. These systems had to more than track patient outcomes – they also provided the data for pay-for-performance incentives. EHRs were already trying to do something very complicated – track health outcomes – but now they were also meant to underpin a cockamamie "incentives" program that was supposed to provide a carrot to the health industry so it would stop killing people and ripping off Medicare. EHRs devolved into obscenely complex spaghetti systems that doctors and nurses loathed on sight.
But there was one group that loved EHRs: hospital administrators and the private companies offering Medicare Advantage plans (which also benefited from upcoding patients in order to soak Uncle Sucker):
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8649706/
The spread of EHRs neatly tracks with a spike in upcharging: "from 2014 through 2019, the number of hospital stays billed at the highest severity level increased almost 20 percent…the number of stays billed at each of the other severity levels decreased":
https://oig.hhs.gov/oei/reports/OEI-02-18-00380.pdf
The purpose of a system is what it does. Epic's industry-dominating EHR is great at price-gouging, but it sucks as a clinical tool – it takes 18 keystrokes just to enter a prescription:
https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamanetworkopen/fullarticle/2729481
Doctors need to see patients, but their bosses demand that they satisfy Epic's endless red tape. Doctors now routinely stay late after work and show up hours early, just to do paperwork. It's not enough. According to another one of Kuttner's sources, doctors routinely copy-and-paste earlier entries into the current one, a practice that generates rampant errors. Some just make up random numbers to fulfill Epic's nonsensical requirements: the same source told Kuttner that when prompted to enter a pain score for his TB patients, he just enters "zero."
Don't worry, Epic has a solution: AI. They've rolled out an "ambient listening" tool that attempts to transcribe everything the doctor and patient say during an exam and then bash it into a visit report. Not only is this prone to the customary mistakes that make AI unsuited to high-stakes, error-sensitive applications, it also represents a profound misunderstanding of the purpose of clinical notes.
The very exercise of organizing your thoughts and reflections about an event – such as a medical exam – into a coherent report makes you apply rigor and perspective to events that otherwise arrive as a series of fleeting impressions and reactions. That's why blogging is such an effective practice:
https://pluralistic.net/2021/05/09/the-memex-method/
The answer to doctors not having time to reflect and organize good notes is to give them more time – not more AI. As another doctor told Kuttner: "Ambient listening is a solution to a self-created problem of requiring too much data entry by clinicians."
EHRs are one of those especially hellish public-private partnerships. Health care doctrine from Reagan to Obama insisted that the system just needed to be exposed to market forces and incentives. EHRs are designed to allow hospitals to win as many of these incentives as possible. Epic's clinical care modules do this by bombarding doctors with low-quality diagnostic suggestions with "little to do with a patient’s actual condition and risks," leading to "alert fatigue," so doctors miss the important alerts in the storm of nonsense elbow-jostling:
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5058605/
Clinicians who actually want to improve the quality of care in their facilities end up recording data manually and keying it into spreadsheets, because they can't get Epic to give them the data they need. Meanwhile, an army of high-priced consultants stand ready to give clinicians advise on getting Epic to do what they need, but can't seem to deliver.
Ironically, one of the benefits that Epic touts is its interoperability: hospitals that buy Epic systems can interconnect those with other Epic systems, and there's a large ecosystem of aftermarket add-ons that work with Epic. But Epic is a product, not a protocol, so its much-touted interop exists entirely on its terms, and at its sufferance. If Epic chooses, a doctor using its products can send files to a doctor using a rival product. But Epic can also veto that activity – and its veto extends to deciding whether a hospital can export their patient records to a competing service and get off Epic altogether.
One major selling point for Epic is its capacity to export "anonymized" data for medical research. Very large patient data-sets like Epic's are reasonably believed to contain many potential medical insights, so medical researchers are very excited at the prospect of interrogating that data.
But Epic's approach – anonymizing files containing the most sensitive information imaginable, about millions of people, and then releasing them to third parties – is a nightmare. "De-identified" data-sets are notoriously vulnerable to "re-identification" and the threat of re-identification only increases every time there's another release or breach, which can used to reveal the identities of people in anonymized records. For example, if you have a database of all the prescribing at a given hospital – a numeric identifier representing the patient, and the time and date when they saw a doctor and got a scrip. At any time in the future, a big location-data breach – say, from Uber or a transit system – can show you which people went back and forth to the hospital at the times that line up with those doctor's appointments, unmasking the person who got abortion meds, cancer meds, psychiatric meds or other sensitive prescriptions.
The fact that anonymized data can – will! – be re-identified doesn't mean we have to give up on the prospect of gleaning insight from medical records. In the UK, the eminent doctor Ben Goldacre and colleagues built an incredible effective, privacy-preserving "trusted research environment" (TRE) to operate on millions of NHS records across a decentralized system of hospitals and trusts without ever moving the data off their own servers:
https://pluralistic.net/2024/03/08/the-fire-of-orodruin/#are-we-the-baddies
The TRE is an open source, transparent server that accepts complex research questions in the form of database queries. These queries are posted to a public server for peer-review and revision, and when they're ready, the TRE sends them to each of the databases where the records are held. Those databases transmit responses to the TRE, which then publishes them. This has been unimaginably successful: the prototype of the TRE launched during the lockdown generated sixty papers in Nature in a matter of months.
Monopolies are inefficient, and Epic's outmoded and dangerous approach to research, along with the roadblocks it puts in the way of clinical excellence, epitomizes the problems with monopoly. America's health care industry is a dumpster fire from top to bottom – from Medicare Advantage to hospital cartels – and allowing Epic to dominate the EHR market has somehow, incredibly, made that system even worse.
Naturally, Kuttner finishes out his article with some antitrust analysis, sketching out how the Sherman Act could be brought to bear on Epic. Something has to be done. Epic's software is one of the many reasons that MDs are leaving the medical profession in droves.
Epic epitomizes the long-standing class war between doctors who want to take care of their patients and hospital executives who want to make a buck off of those patients.

How to Archive VODs and Clips
Whether you want to download VODs and/or clips for your own records or because you’d like to share them online, knowing how to archive things is handy, especially when so many streams become lost media once they’re deleted off Twitch and/or YouTube.
Here are a few programs that I use for Royal Archivist!
Of all the programs on this list, my personal favorites / the ones I most strongly recommend are Cobalt and Twitch Downloader! (When all else fails, OBS is also a good backup).
Cobalt
Tumblr media
Cobalt has gained a lot of popularity the past few months, and for good reason! It's a very reliable, extremely user-friendly website that lets you save videos in MP4 formats, convert them into MP3 formats, or video-only without sound.
Cobalt is currently compatible with: BlueSky, Dailymotion, Facebook, Instagram, Loom, OK, Pinterest, Reddit, RuTube, SnapChat, SoundCloud, Streamable, TikTok, Tumblr, Twitch, Twitter, Vimeo, VK, Xiohongshu, and YouTube.
Twitch’s built-in download feature
If you’re downloading your own clip, this is the easiest method to use
First, navigate to your clips page.
To do this, click on your Twitch icon and go to “Creator Dashboard.” There will be a row of icons on your left - click the fifth button from the top (the one above the settings icon) and click on the link that says “Clips.”
At the top of the page, click on “Clips I’ve Created” and you should see a list of every clip you’ve ever made (regardless of whether or not you’ve published them, the clips are there!)
If you're having trouble, you can also type: https://dashboard.twitch.tv/u/ YOUR USERNAME HERE /clips/created
Click on the share button, and the list shown in the photo below will pop up.
After you click on the “Download” button (for landscape or portrait), a new tab will open up with the clip (which will autoplay, so heads up if you have your volume turned up high!)
Right click on the video and click “Save Video As”
Tumblr media
That’s all there is to it! Please keep in mind that Twitch’s download function only works for clips you’ve made! You cannot use it to download VODs, or other people’s clips.
Twitch Downloader
Tumblr media
Twitch Downloader is by far the BEST Twitch download program I have ever used. I’ve used several different ones, some which have broken because of Twitch’s updates, others which have fallen into disrepair because their creator no longer updates the program, but this one has been working consistently for me for a little over a year now. I’ve kept it very close to my chest because I’m terrified it’ll stop working one day, but it’s better to share resources than horde them out of fear.
Pros:
HD quality for all downloads! Whatever quality the stream was, that’s the quality the download will be (unless you adjust anything in the settings).
The best feature of this program is you can adjust how much you want to clip! Only want a 30 second clip from a 6 hour VOD? You can specify the section you want to download so long as you know the timestamps where you want the clip to start and where you want it to end.
You can download entire VODs.
When saving the file, it will automatically enter the original name of the stream and the stream date. (You can change this, but it’s very handy when you’re downloading an entire VOD and not a section of one).
It will automatically prompt you to update it when a new version has been released. (You do have the option to opt out of this, if you want).
There are a lot of other features available, however, I’ve never tried any of them so I can’t say how well they work. The Github page has a lot of examples and a Q&A section though, so check that out if you’re curious!
On the rare occasion that the program encounters issues, it's easy to use a past version, and the creators are quick to release new updates that resolve any problems. As of today (February 21, 2025) the latest version is currently 1.55.2, which updated last week.
Cons:
Sometimes when you click “Get Info” it won’t immediately load the VOD. This is pretty easy to solve by just restarting the program, so it’s not a huge issue imo.
You can’t preview clips before you download them, so you need to know the exact timestamps you want.
You can’t download VODs that are privated or no longer on Twitch.
How to use:
Download Twitch Downloader from Github and install the version that works for your computer. (In this case, I would download the GUI Windows-x64.zip version. Make sure you’re downloading the GUI version if you want a user-friendly version of this program).
Enter the URL of the VOD you’d like to download.
You can adjust the quality of the video and the length. If nothing is specified in the “Crop Video” section, it will download the entire VOD.
Once you’re ready, click the “Download” button and you’re good to go!
Open Video Downloader
Tumblr media
If you’ve ever wanted to download any kind of video, I’m sure you’ve heard of Youtube-dl. There are different versions of this program, but some of them are a bit finicky and if things stop working, it can be difficult and frustrating trying to figure out what went wrong and how to fix it — which is why I recommend this program.
Open Video Downloader, aka youtube-dl-gui, is one of the best video downloaders I’ve ever used. It’s basically Youtube-dl with a Graphical User Interface (GUI) that makes the program very easy for anyone to use.
Pros:
No coding knowledge required! VERY user-friendly.
The creator fixes user issues very quickly! Whenever the program experiences a problem, a new update is released within 24 hours.
It can download videos from pretty much all major social media platforms, including Youtube, Twitter, Tumblr, Twitch clips, Instagram, and more.
Cons:
You can’t adjust the length of what you want to download. If you want to download a 2 minute section from a 5 hour Youtube VOD, you’ll have to download the entire video.
On rare occasions, I’ve had issues where it cannot download an unlisted Youtube video. There are sometimes ways to get around this, but it’s a pain and usually not worth the effort.
How to use it:
Download the latest version of the program from GitHub. Scroll all the way down to “Assets” and select the version that’s right for your computer. (For example, I use Windows, so I would download the .exe file).
Once you’ve installed it, you can start downloading things! For this example, let’s say I want to download Quackity’s “Welcome to the QSMP” video. All I need to do is copy the link and paste it into the white box at the top of the program.
Once that’s done, you should see the video pop up in your download queue. You can queue multiple videos to download at once (you can also download entire playlists too). When you’re ready, click the green download button on the bottom right (as shown in the picture below) or if you only want to download one specific video from your queue, click the download button (circled in red) next to the video.
You can adjust the quality of the video you want to download, and in theory you can choose whether to download just the audio or just the video of a video, but personally that’s never worked for me. That might just be a me issue though.
If you’d like to change where your videos are saved to, click the Folder button (circled in yellow) and choose a download destination. If nothing is chosen, it will default to your Downloads folder.
Tumblr media
There are ways you can customize this program, but like I said earlier, this program is very very easy to use and does not require any tinkering whatsoever. You open it, download what you want, then close it. Nice and simple!
Other Recommendations
OBS is a good backup when all else fails! I have to use OBS pretty frequently for YouTube VODs, since there aren't a lot of tools that let you clip parts of a YouTube video (and I'd rather not download an entire 7 hour long VOD for a 30 second clip). There are already a lot of good tutorials out there explaining how to use OBS, so I recommend poking around and seeing what works best for you. If you're new to video downloading / archiving things, I'd still recommend starting with some of the tools I mentioned above first.
I’d recommend making a folder on your computer for clips. I find it very helpful to name all my files with this method: [Stream date] Streamer name - Something that helps me remember what this clip is about / something that will help me find it later, or a quote.
Example: [2-6-24] Mike - I hate capitalism
If you’ve got a significant amount of clips on your computer, I’d recommend backing them up and/or saving them to an external harddrive!
That’s about it! I apologize if I’ve missed any steps, but hopefully everything is more or less easy enough for folks to understand! I’m someone who does not like downloading random programs onto my computer and I’m very paranoid about cyber security, but I’ve used these programs for over a year now, and they’re very reliable and trustworthy. 10/10, I recommend both of them.
Lastly: if anyone has a recommendation for good Youtube clip downloaders, please let me know! I haven’t found any good programs that let me specify how much of a Youtube video I’d like to download, and I am suffering. Help your friendly neighborhood Archivist so I can share more clips from the early days of QSMP.

Note
If any of y'all had tips for aspiring TTRPG creators, what would they be? I'm hosting a "How to Make your own TTRPG" panel at a con this weekend, and anything to show folks from a fellow indie studio would be great!
Yeah a bunch. Each one of these could basically be its own post, but here are the condensed versions.
Social Media
You need social media. No one will ever hear of your game without a strong social media presence. And as much as it sucks, your best bet is probably tumblr. It’s the only populated social media site that allows your posts to be widely circulated without you having to pay, and also long form enough to actually include information. I dedicate one day a week entirely to social media and that’s just about the only reason we make any money at all.
Also, when using tumblr, the first five tags you put on a post are the most important, those are the tags that make it show up on people’s dashboards. The first twenty tags are the ones that make it show up in search results. Don’t put the name of your game in the first five tags generally, because if no one has heard of it yet, no one is following those tags.
Don’t Paywall Your Game
You deserve to be paid for your work if you indeed did any work at all (we’ll get to that), but that just isn’t the world we live in. Unless you have an advertising budget to essentially trick people into buying a game that might end up being crap, you need something to prove that your game is worth spending money on. Without an advertising budget, that proof has to be your game. Setting your game to pay-what-you-want, or providing “community copies,” lets people try your game before they buy. Plenty of people will buy up-front when given the option, and others who can’t afford it at that moment will download it for free then come back and pay later. Some people will never pay, but what that means for you is that they either never experience your game, or they pirate it. People experiencing your game, showing it to their friends, and talking about it is one of the most valuable pieces of advertisement you can ever have. It will ultimately lead to more people who are willing and able to pay learning about your game.
Start Small but Not Too Small
Do not make a one-page game for your first game. Do not be like us and make a 700-page game for your first game. Try to aim for something between 20 and 200 pages, especially if you’re one person or a small team.
Play and Read a lot of RPGs or Your Game Will Suck
Would you watch a movie by a director who had only ever watched one movie? Would you read a book by an author who had only ever read one book? Hell no, those would suck.
Read many rpg rulebooks, from many different genres and decades, play as many of them as you can (by the rules) to understand how the rules work and why they’re there. This will give you the creative tools you need to make something that isn’t just a weaker version of the last RPG you played. No, listening to "actual plays" does not count.
Most actual plays stray significantly from presenting a regular gameplay experience in favor of an experience that is entertaining for an audience. If you want to learn martial arts, you should be watching martial arts tournaments, not WWE.
If you want an actual play podcast that has my “actually mostly presents a real gameplay experience” approval, try Tiny Table.
If you say you don’t have time to read rulebooks, then you don’t have time to design a good game. Studying is part of the process of creating. If you don't, you won't even know about gleeblor.
This will let you know whether your "innovation" is more like "Cars don't need to run on gasoline!" or "Cars don't need crumple zones and airbags!"
The Rules Matter, So Design with Intent
The rules matter the rules fucking matter holy shit what you actually write down on the page matters I can’t believe this is actually the seemingly most needed piece of advice on this list. The. rules. matter.
Design your game to be played in the way you designed it. The rules affect the tone and genre of your game, they affect the type of people PCs can be and the kind of stories that will result from gameplay. Bonuses encourage PC behaviors, penalties discourage PC behaviors.
Do not fall for the trap of “oh well people will just play it their own way based on vibes anyway so it doesn’t matter what I write the rules to be.” Write that you wrote this game to be played by the rules and that significant changes to the rules mean that players are no-longer playing the game you made. Write like you deserve for your art to be acknowledged by its audience. If you don’t, then there is no point in anyone playing the game you made, because if the person who wrote it doesn’t even care what the rules say, why should anyone? The people whose “playing” of TTRPGs consists of never opening the rulebook and improving based on “vibes” will still do that no matter what, but the people who would have actually tried to engage with your game will find that it sucks if you don’t even care what the rules are yourself.
Playtest
You need to playtest your game if you want it to work as intended. You need multiple sets of eyes on it. If you don’t have the opportunity personally to do so, just release your game anyway with the acknowledgement that it’s unfinished. Call it an alpha or a beta version, and ask for people that do play it to give feedback, then update and fix the game based on that feedback.
Ignore Feedback
Most people do not have any game design credibility, perhaps least of all TTRPG players. You do not, in fact, have to listen to everything people say about your game. Once you ask for feedback, people will come to you with the most deranged, asinine, bad-faith “feedback” you can imagine, and then get really mad at you when you don’t fall to your knees and kiss their feet about it. You do not need to take this feedback at face value, instead you need to learn to read between the lines and find out which parts of the rules text are being misinterpreted by players, and which incorrect assumptions players are making about your game. Then, you update and improve the game by clearing those up. Only like 30% of “feedback” you receive will actually be a directly helpful suggestion in its own right at face value.
You can’t please everyone, and shouldn’t, so appeal to the people who actually like your game for being what it is, not the people who don’t.
Read Eureka: Investigative Urban Fantasy
Yeah this one sounds self-serving but hear me out. Eureka: Investigative Urban Fantasy is as much a treatise on TTRPG game design as it is a game itself. When it presents mechanics and rules, it tells you what they are, why they are, how they are, and what you’re intended to do with them. This makes it an excellent example to read for anyone wanting to get serious about game design and learn how TTRPGs tick under the hood, and an excellent example of a TTRPG that expects players to play it the way it was written to be played, and why that is a good thing. Also you can download it for free.

How to Get a Chronological Dash as a New Blog
I've been working on a Tumblr Roleplaying 101 guide, and in doing so wound up making a brand new Tumblr account for some screenshots. And this process made me realize how weirdly complicated Tumblr has made it for new accounts to get a chronological dash. So if you just want to see posts from people you follow, in the order that they made them, this what you have to do.
First, go to your settings, go under Dashboard, and scroll down to Preferences. Toggle off Best Stuff First. This switches your dash from an algorithm feed to a chronological one.
Tumblr media
If you have an older blog, that's all you have to do. But if your blog was created more recently, you have an extra step.
The Tumblr dashboard has different tabs, which you can see across the top of your feed. Most older users have completed tuned these out, because we don't care about anything other than the basic feed. There is a Following tab, which shows posts from users you follow, and a For you tab, which shows recommend posts Tumblr thinks you'll like.
Tumblr media
On blogs created before May 8, 2023, the Following tab is the default view. However, blogs created after this date have the For you tab as the default view. (This is an intentional change by Tumblr.)
Tumblr media
This means if you are a newer blog and want to see posts from people you follow, you'll need to manually switch to the Following tab every time you open the dashboard.
If you do not like this change, consider contacting Tumblr staff. Submit a form under the Feedback category and explain that you'd like the option to make the Following tab the default for new blogs. And please, be polite! There is a person on the other side of the screen who likely had no say in this change, and even if they did, they don't deserve to be yelled at.

pinned post/FAQ
TRANS RIGHTS!! TERFS GET THE FUCK OFF MY BLOG!!!!!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
we have a source of income again, but if you like my work, donations are always appreciated!
who are you?
i'm just a guy who likes spore [2008]
why do this?
i just really like spore and making creatures in spore. it helps me practice my creature creation abilities.
can you make my oc in spore?
as of right now i do not take requests. i generally find characters and creatures i want to make by them appearing on my dashboard. refer to the Request Beast.
Tumblr media
what is in your icon?
captain thunderhide, my main spore space stage captain.
Tumblr media
what is peeling?
peeling is when i remove all detail parts from a creature and show the bare sculpt underneath - anything that is not eyes, mouth, hands, feet, or limbs will be removed. it is a tradition around these parts
what are "original spores"?
original spores are spore creations that aren't based on existing media - ocs, copyrighted characters, or otherwise. usually, they're just making things to make them in spore, or are based on simple prompts such as "a plate of spaghetti" or "a penis".
do you use mods?
i exclusively play this game with mods.
can i download the creatures you make?
only if the original creator of the design is okay with it and requests a png. please note that in order to successfully download the creatures, you will need to download every mod used to create them.
i will not always be able to say what mods i use to make something, so it's a gamble if you don't have all of the ones i use.
how do i mod spore/do advanced creature creation like you?
darkedgetv's FAQ is a very good resource to begin. i started there, and it's where i recommend you to start if you're interested in spore modding. it also contains many other mods i have not listed under the cut.
as much as i disagree with the process of using a discord server to contain vital information and resources, the davoonline spore modding community discord is also a good source of resources and mods that even i do not use.
have you heard of [in-development indie sporelike]?
yes. i have heard of all of them.
i hold no interest in any of the currently in development indie "sporelikes". i believe they are trying to reinvent the wheel and overall they do not interest me.
are there any other blogs like yours?
there's a few and ever growing! i refer to this as the ecosystem or the making-you ecosystem.
i have a masterpost of all known individuals in this ecosystem here.
what editor mods do you use?
a lot, so they'll be under the cut.
not mods, but highly recommended for enhanced playing experience
4GB patch - Tutorial - patches spore [and other 32bit programs] to be able to use 4gb of RAM. recommended if playing a highly modded copy, and makes the game more stable.
Reshade & ReSpore - post-processing injector & shader that alters the appearance of spore, giving it more detailed shading and vibrant colors. i use this for gameplay and screenshots. runs on GPU power, so excellent if you have a strong graphics card
HD graphics fix - this doesn't actually seem to work for my copy, but it alters the textures of base spore to be more high-quality.
mods that are absolute must-haves
these mods are ones that i use in almost every creation, and add a lot of QoL to the editors. if i forget a mod in a creature png i post, it will be one of these.
Dark injection - THE spore mod. it's likely a lot of other mods you'll download will mesh well with dark injection. you can turn off whatever you don't want to use through the installer.
Universal Property Enhancer - a library mod that many other mods require
The Smoother - a useful tool for building muscles and smoothing out your creatures' bodies
Enhanced Color Picker - a requirement for super detailed creations, enables hexcode color picking and color wheel selection beyond normal limits of spore
[UPE] Infinite Part Scaling - allows scaling of parts near-infinitely, beyond the limits of the original game
Project Skyncraft - adds new creature skinpaints
Unshackled - adds nodes and limbs for creating custom wings, heads, hands, etc. a little bit unstable, i mostly use this for wings.
Spore Stacker - allows stacking of any part
Subtle Rotations - reduces part rotation snapping
Advanced CE - adds building editor manipulators to the creature editor
Every Part Costs Nothing - self explanatory
Rotate Anything - lets you rotate anything, including feet and hands
Advanced Creature Paint - allows for individual coloring of parts on a creature, like in the building and vehicle editors
Ambient Occlusion Disabler - removes baked-on shadows for creatures
Delta Paints - adds new skinpaints
Valla's Skinpaint Switcheroo - adds duplicates of all vanilla, C&C, and GA creature coat and detail skinpaints into their opposite category
Valla's Vanilla Style Parts - adds several parts which mimic the vanilla style
Delimbiter - increases the amount you can scale limb parts, and allows for more crazy movements of certain limb parts
test drive related mods
these mods are not required to download the creatures i post, but are recommended for the test drive.
No More Creature Editor Animations - turns off the animations that play when you add eyes, mouth, feet/hands, etc
Sevan's TF2 editor animations - adds multiple animations from tf2 into the creature test drive.
Mx3's Dance Animations - adds a multitude of dance animations into the creature test drive.
Tenebris's Creature Test Drive Animations - adds many animations from within the game to the creature test drive.
EditorBG - adds extra editor backgrounds
Ramone Kemono's MMD Drag Ball - high-effort dance mod complete with special effects and a reverse engineered camera system
part mods
these mods add parts to the editors.
DroneParts 2017 - adds many mechanical and polygonal parts useful for machine creatures, i like to use it for building clothes and markings.
New Drone Parts - a sequel to droneparts 2017, compatible with the old version. install both at the same time if you want to be able to use creatures from the old droneparts mod.
Himeric Engine - adds horror-themed parts to the creature editor.
Spore Resurrection Next Steps - adds a few parts to the creature editor and several new textures to the building and vehicle editors.
Dinosaur Parts - adds parts based on dinosaurs and other animals. mostly heads.
Strange And Beautiful - a now-discontinued, reuploaded mod that adds unusual and unique parts to the creature editor
Bionicle parts - adds a few bionicle pieces to the creature editor
Little Box Of Horrors - adds many parts with an overall horror theme. some are animated.
Pandora's Toolbox [1.0] - adds a multitude of basic shapes and polygons to build with
Replicant - adds non-textured animating parts and non-animating parts in a separate tab. good for if you want to use hands, limbs, etc without them animating or adding stats
Armoured And Dangerous - adds a few high detail mechanical looking parts.
Wordsmith 2.1 - adds letters to the creature, building, and vehicle editors
Kaiju parts - adds several parts based on popular kaiju
Organic Help - adds many membrane pieces to the creature editor, for creating wing webbing among other things
Project: Mad Mannequins - adds many human body based parts. and a horse for some reason
A Mouth For All Seasons - adds alternate versions of all vanilla mouths [and all unused cell mouths] with alternate diets
Valla's Captain Badges - adds all space badge models into the captain outfitter and creature editor
Rock On! - adds rock props from spore into the building and creature editors
Anime Parts - adds a couple anime human heads and anime hairs

A QUICK GUIDE TO AO3 CUSTOMIZATION FROM SOMEONE WHO KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT CODING
Tumblr media
ft adding pink to everything and my secret to writing long comments
note: I originally posted this to twt but if that place burns in a fiery pit I spent too long on this for it to disappear, so I'm putting it here too :)
so many people know way more about this than I do, but this is a step-by-step walkthrough of the changes *I've* made, and hopefully it works as an introduction people can build from for whatever they'd like to do
There are a lot of images in this post! (click to enlarge)
to start, AO3 skins
site skins change how the AO3 website appears when logged in (even on mobile), mine is pink and blue!
Tumblr media
I'll have my skin turned off throughout the post so the guides appear as they will for you
to create, edit, and view skins, go to the "skins" tab from the left-hand menu. you can also view public site skins from there or from the button in the preferences.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
public site skins are made by other users. i would really encourage previewing and exploring them to become familiar with the possibilities (maybe you just want to use one of them and now you're done!)
to create your own skin
on the skins page, click "create site skin"
if you don't know CSS (same), use the wizard! clicking on the "?" will give more information about each option
I only use the colours section you'll see a link right there for hex codes I use pink as a header colour and bue for accent but lots of people change the background colour and that looks really cool!
submit
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The next step (optional!!!) is to add CSS from a public skin to your own. I use "ByLine" by Branch. this separates the tag categories and adds spacing to make them easier to read.
here is a before and after using the fic "Landslide" by @roosterbruiser as an example
Tumblr media Tumblr media
to see the CSS of a skin, click the title
copy all the text below the CSS heading
in the skin creator/editor press the custom CSS option and paste all the text into the CSS box
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
you can have both wizard and custom CSS settings, in mine you can see the header and accent colours as well as the CSS
Tumblr media
level up: USERSCRIPTS
userscripts are small pieces of code that modify a website. for AO3, this may involve adding shortcuts and buttons or even advanced tagging functions (computer people, I'm so sorry if this is wrong, I'm trying). I use Greasy Fork and Tampermonkey.
This is how I write long and formatted comments!
Greasy Fork is an archive of userscripts and Tampermonkey is a browser extension and userscript manager. You don't need to use these two in particular. please use your common sense when downloading anything or adding permissions to your browser.
Greasy Fork guide on installing scripts
Install Tampermonkey on Chrome
there are TONS of user scripts for AO3. This is another good opportunity to explore all the possibilities. there are lots of more complicated options I haven't explored.
scripts for AO3
Tumblr media
i use this floaty review box
and this comment formatting
EDIT: if you use chrome you might need to turn on developer mode in your chrome extension manager - you can google "tampermonkey developer mode" and it should explain that :)
to install (once you have Tampermonkey installed):
open the script you want in Greasy Fork and press install
Tampermonkey will open, press install again
Tumblr media Tumblr media
clicking the Tampermonkey extension will let you toggle scripts on and off, and opening the dashboard will let you view, edit, and delete scripts
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i find i can only have a few turned on at a time before they cancel each other out, but that depends on which ones you're using and someone more savvy might be able to fix that
how to use the floaty review box - write more comments!
there will now be a "floaty review box" button at the top of the work, it will open a floating text box you can move anywhere on the page. highlighting any text and pressing the insert button will paste the text with italics into the box
Tumblr media Tumblr media
anything you type in the review box will appear in your comment at the bottom of the page!
if you have also installed the comment formatting script, you'll be able to highlight any text in your comment and use the new buttons above the comment box to format it
Tumblr media
thats all ive got! Hopefully this is a good starting point to get familiar with some of the terms and basics for skins and scripts <3
if you want some inspo for how to comment on fics i made a whole fic rec list on twitter based on comments I've left, it's here. i have a masterlist of recs there mostly for darklina/reylo and similar ships.
the tag #reading with ru has cod recs and me talking about books
:)

ao3 skins faq
Just a few answers to questions I've seen in the notes on this poll
What is a site skin? A site skin is CSS code that changes the way AO3 looks. This could be anything from changing the page colour to the font to the way tags look to hiding parts of the site - and more.
Where do I find site skins? There are a few places. The easiest one is in the site footer (that red band at the bottom of the page). There are four skins linked there under the word Customize, and you can click on them to see what they do. Another place to find skins is https://archiveofourown.org/skins?skin_type=Site Those skins were created years ago and loaded into AO3 for easy applicaiton. Just hit the Use button and they'll be applied to your account. Lastly, you can find skins created by other AO3 users. Some people post their code on AO3 itself, some use github or other code repositories. A lot of folks share their skins here on tumblr with images and then a link to the code itself.
How do I save them to my account? If you're using the ones in the footer or the ones linked on the Public Skins page, you don't need to save them. Those are built into AO3. If you want to create your own (or use one created by another user), that's when you save them to your account. Tap on your name at the top of the Ao3 page. Then select Dashboard, then select Skins. Tap the button labelled Create Site Skin and give your skin a unique name. Write or paste the CSS code into the big box, then hit the Submit button to save it. If you want to use it right away, hit the Use button on the next page.
What's the difference between a Work Skin and a Site Skin? A work skin changes the appearance of an individual AO3 work, and it changes it for everyone who looks at that work. This lets you turn your fic into something that looks like an email or a text chain or a newspaper, etc etc without having to use images. Work skins can also be turned off by other users, so if they just want to read the plain text of your work they still can. A site skin changes how the entire site looks - but only for you.
How do you have 100+ site skins?? I start a lot of skins that I abandon partway through. I also create skins for certain specific purposes - for example, changing the look of all of the buttons on the site - and then I can just grab that chunk of code and add it to any "full" site skins I create for the purposes of sharing. I have a lot of experiments that fail, but I keep the code around because maybe I'll learn how to fix it someday.
Can I create my own site skin if I don't know how to code? You can! AO3 has a site skin Wizard that will help you change the colours, fonts, and font sizes on the site. Go to your Dashboard > Skins > Create Site Skin and then tap on Use Wizard. Give your skin a unique title. Click on the ? bubbles to get examples of how to enter information into each box. If there's anything you don't want to change, you can just leave that box empty. When you add in colours, they must be hex colour codes, and they must include the # at the start. Any font you add need to exist on your device (so it might work on your computer but not on your phone because your phone doesn't have that font installed). You can add parent skins to Wizard skins, too. See below!
I wish I could have [X functionality] in [Y aesthetic skin] You can! If you create one site skin in order to block certain works or tags, you can add that skin on top of an aesthetic skin. To do so, edit your aesthetic skin, scroll down and tap on the Advanced button (lower left of the CSS box), tap on Parent Skin, type in the name of your blocking skin and Add Parent Skin. Then save your aesthetic skin, and the two are combined! You can also do this with those skins that are native to AO3. So for example, you want a Reversi (dark mode) skin that Shortens Long Tags and also hides the "you have muted some users" banner. Create a site skin with the muted users code:
p.muted.notice { display: none; } And add Reversi and Shortening Long Tag Fields to it as parents. (you can also copy/paste all of the code into a single site skin, if you'd prefer)
For more FAQs, you can check out the Skins & Archive Interface section on AO3's FAQ page. Or you can drop questions in the notes, too.
