Introduction to Shielding
If you haven’t already, check out my lessons on visualisation for the basic knowledge you’ll need to begin practicing shielding.
So what is shielding?
Shielding is a manipulation of energy, used to create a barrier between yourself and unwanted, usually negative or malicious energies. It’s a basic aspect of spellwork that everyone, beginner or experienced, should use to keep themselves safe.
What can I use shielding for?
Some beginner-level uses for shielding are drawing a circle, or casting a spell. A more experienced individual might use shielding in astral travel or spirit work, where there are a lot more malicious energies involved. Personally, I use shielding as often as possible, for instance when I do tarot readings, spells, spirit work, shadow work, and especially cursing. It gives that extra guarantee that you won't flood your personal space with unwanted energies.
Other uses include shielding against real-life dangers, to a certain degree. I often shield when I am walking through town at night for extra protection. But please remember to take other measures too! Call someone, pretend to be on the phone, plan your route, and even carry pepper spray if it's legal where you are.
An easy shielding method:
The easiest way to explain this is to think of your energy as a physical manifestation. Think how power attacks are shown in anime or cartoons - a streak of colour or light, or an element. Make it personable to you: fire signs (Leo/Aries/Sagittarius) might visualise fire, or a red energy or light etc.
Firstly, some people prefer to cleanse before shielding. I don't think its all that necessary but the choice is yours.
Begin by easing yourself into meditation. Get comfortable, and use whichever technique works for you. I have various methods for this in my visualisation lessons if you are struggling.
Attempt to visualise the energies surrounding you in your mind. It might be a swirling colour of light, almost like a cloud of dust. It could be flames, it could be water. Maybe try to see it held within your hand.
Now, attempt to shape this energy around your entire body. You might want to start with a bubble or a cube surrounding you. Feel this shape surrounding and protecting you. Visualise negative and unwanted energies being held back by it.
You can also layer shields, so if you are working with a particularly malicious energy you might want to have multiple shapes surrounding you, all within each other. You can also work with deities or spirits to ask them to shield you too.
Shielding Incantation
When I am shielding, I recite a spell as well as using visualisation techniques.
The shield of protection, I carry it strong, No ill wishes or trouble shall come along, You cannot harm me, or weaken my soul, My light is my weapon, and peace is my goal.
Try it out for yourself and let me know in the comments how it went! Thank you as always for reading. Please message for requests.

On The Leash (M!Reader x M!Werewolf)
Pairing: Male!Power-Bottom!Reader x Male!Sub-Top!Werewolf
Genre: Established relationship, Urban Fantasy
Warnings: Degradation, Name-Calling
Word Count: 1471 words
Summary: Too many people your boyfriend may seem like a big bad werewolf. But for you, he’s just a sweet little puppy.
Request: Hey, I love your works! Can I request power bottom male reader x sub top male werewolf?
Maybe a mix of praise and degradation 👀👀
It’s moments like these that you’re happy you and your boyfriend have your own apartment.
Without roommates, you’re free to lounge in your boxers on the couch anytime of day. Your boyfriend can walk around with a towel slung around his hips, fully shifted and relaxed. You can admire the curve of his ass and smack it the next moment, and he can crawl right over you and slot his lips into yours. The heat and excitement can escalate, your hands wandering and hips grinding as your breathing gets heavy, as your kisses get sloppy.
Like now, for instance.
Ben’s fur smells fresh, the lavender scent of that fur-spray you gave him. His snout is wet against your ciollarbone as he licks and kisses at your chest. A heavy bulge rests against your thigh as he slips in between your legs, your fingers curling through his fur.
“Thinking about me in there?”
“Maybe.” Ben chuckles, peppering your face with kisses. “I saw you and couldn’t contain myself.”
“Hmm, naughty boy.” Your fingers yank on the back of his head, forcing him back and away from your lips. Ben’s tongue lolls out in a pant, the pain only making his cock twitch. “Did you touch yourself?”
Ben’s neck rolls with a heavy breathe.
“M-maybe.”
You pull again, wrapping your leg around one of this thighs to keep his cock pressed against you, choosing to ignore the way he humps against you.
“It’s a yes or no question.”
“Yes! Yes I did.”
You click your teeth, exaggerating your false “disappointment”.
“And yet you didn’t invite me in. That was rude, dear.” Your other hand plants itself on the couch, using it as leverage to push up and kiss his bobbing neck. “I think someone needs to be reminded of his place.”
Ben is large fellow, pushing 6’4 and all muscle and mass. Yet in your hands he’s like putty, weight following easily as you flip yourself over and on top of him. His cock tents his towel, the white fabric falling between his thighs like a sexy loincloth.
“Since you felt selfish enough to jerk off without me, I think I’ll put that cock to good use.” You fish your dick out of your boxers, shucking them down your thighs and off your ankles. Ben growls, his chest rumbling underneath as he watches your head smack against your stomach. But any authority is lost with the keening whine as you grab his own cock, hand gripped tight around the base.
“Uh-uh, I’m setting the pace for this one, dear. If you even try to move without my permission-” Your thumb yanks his cock forward, another whine coming from Ben’s chest. “-You don’t get to cum. Understand?” Ben nods his head, eyes watery and desperate as you slowly shift up your hips, grabbing a spurt of lube from a nearby bottle (another benefit of living without roommates) and coating his cock.
You're slow and controlled as you sink onto Ben’s dick, his head thrown back in a muffle howl when you fit him to the hilt. The burn is only slight, plenty of practice making the motion feel natural.
“Eyes on me, or you’ll regret it.” You bark, hips grinding against his. Ben whines again, but follows you obediently, his pupils wide as he bites his bottom lip.
A jolt shoots up your spine as the head of Ben’s cock grazes your prostate, and you fight the urge to start using him like a sex toy immediately. He needs to earn that privilege.
You set a slow pace, merely rocking your hips back and forth, letting that pressure hit just right deep inside of you. Ben’s tail swings agitated behind you, his thighs shaking as he forces himself to stay still. He’s being awfully good, but to torture him more you make sure to exaggerate your breathy moans, rubbing a hand down your chest as you sway.
“S-shit, you’ve got such a perfect cock.” Bem’s ears perk up, another purr rumbling between your legs. “Always stretching me open so perfectly. Just how I like it.” The hand on your chest moves down to your navel till you reach your dick, rubbing your thumb across your weeping head. Ben’s dark tongue darts across his lips when you spit into your open palm and begin to jerk yourself off. “Fuck~”
You can feel Ben’s cock twitching inside of you, veins throbbing as you tease. But he hasn’t moved or looked away, obediently following your every command, even as you torture him. Those big brown eyes of his look so cute in this position, so eager to please you.
“You’re being an awfully good boy, Ben. I’m impressed.” Your free hand runs down his chest, drawing circles in his lower stomach, admiring the way he twitches and shakes form the smallest of contact. “I think you’ve earned yourself a reward.”
You splay your fingers onto Ben’s chest, finding grip on his fur as you lean upwards off his cock, pulling out until only the tip remains. Ben’s ears curl forward, his mouth open to beg for more when you throw yourself back onto the hilt, voice catching in his throat.
“Hnggh!”
You set a brutal pace, rocking your couch across the cheap flooring. His heavy, sweaty balls slap against your ass cheeks as you ride him like a prize stallion. Your hand sloppily continues jerking your cock, chasing the knot that tightens with every thrust backwards.
Ben, to his credit, still keeps his eyes on you, the order not rescinded. His long claws dig into the sofa cushion to keep his focus, watching you bounce on his dick. His shaky pupils dart between your face and your cock.
“P-please.”
“Please what? You need to speak up, dummy.” You tease, despite the way your voice shakes from exertion, sweat dripping down your forehead.
“Please, let me fuck you.”
“Hmmm.” You tap your chin, fake contemplating as you swivel your hips. “I’m feeling generous, so I suppose that could work.” Ben’s ears shoot straight up, his tail thumping against the couch as you lean backwards. There’s a wet schlick as you pull his cock out and lay yourself backwards, legs spread wide. You keep a firm grip around your shaft, licking your lips as Ben scrambles to mount you.
Ben’s hands shake as he pushes your thighs up to your chest, tongue lolled out in desperate pants as he lines his aching cock up with your hole. Ben’s a large fella, easily covering up your whole body as his hot head presses against the ring of muscle.
“Holy shit.” Ben’s eyes twitch as he sinks deep into you. With his patience all spent up, he instantly ruts into you like an animal, the sound of slapping skin echoing off the shitty apartment walls. His brow furrows as his breathing gets heavy, all those muscles put into action with his harried thrusts.
“Hey, look at me.” A soft touch to his jaw has Ben focusing back on you, hot breaths flowing across your face. Your thumb brushes across his cheek. “You’re my good boy, aren’t you?”
“I-I’m your good boy.” Ben stutters out, his cock twitching unside you.
“Good boys get to cum inside.” Your voice falls into purr, your grip soft as you carress Ben’s face. His pupils have blown wide, his thrusts picking up speed as he finally gets to chase his high. You keep talking, knowing he loves the sound of your voice. “You treat me so well, always know how to make me feel fantatsic.” You punctuate your sentence with a breathy moan, feeling yourself get closer and closer.
Ben loses himself in his focus, falling down to his elbows and pressing his chest against yours. Fur and skin stick together in a sweaty tangle, but you don’t care. You press a kiss against the side of his mouth, enjoying the taste of salt.
Your eyes scrunch up tight as you feel your orgasm approaching, your balls tightening with every thrust of Ben’s hips.
“Aah~” Your vowels wobble as your hips and cock jerk, finishing all over Ben’s stomach. Ben digs his muzzle into your neck, his chest heaving against yours.
Time for his reward.
“Cum for me, baby.” You whisper in Ben’s ear, his whole body trembling as he hits his peak, fresh jets of cum filling you up.
“Fuck!”
Ben draws out the last syllable, hips still humping, his semen deep inside you, He collapses on top of you, tail flopped to the side. He’s still cock-drunk, eyes wobbling and bereft of speech. You fall into the heated mess, your boyfriend feeling like a weighted blanket on top of you. A sweaty, stinky weighted blanket.
But he’s all yours and you're all his, and that is what matters at the end of the day.

Harm Reduction: No Sense of Direction
Mantra:
It is better to get to the correct place slowly than it is to get to the wrong place fast.
Preparation:
Take a friend who doesn’t have a disabled guidance system
Write down the names of stores and restaurants next to the place you want to go.
Use a map any chance you get. If you’re certain you’re going the right way; no you’re not. Check your map.
Never leave the house without a phone, charger, and/or power bank. GPS drains your battery. No phone = No help
Print out or write your directions so you don’t have to rely on your phone and use up battery.
Don’t use buses if you don’t know how to read timetables or understand how they work. In order to go somewhere far away, you will have to make multiple connections, and sometimes what is on Apple Maps isn’t the route your bus will go.
Take pepper spray, a loud whistle, or an alarm with you
Unfamiliar breaks from routine lead to forgetfulness. Make sure all objects you may accidentally leave behind are placed in a satchel which will remain on your person the entire time. (For instance: I just lost a canvas shopping bag and a bike lock on the bus and I’ve been melting down over it ever since because that was my favorite shopping bag. RIP.)
Bring snacks and at least 15 ounces (1 bottle) of water. If your water bottle is disposable, don’t throw it out so that you can refill it.
Locals and Establishments:
Carry yourself with confidence.
Ask for directions in a way where it makes you seem like you know what you’re doing. If you seem lost, you will be easy prey.
Retail workers, restaurant employees, and hospital staff are the safest people to ask for directions, because they are on the shift and cannot hurt you without getting into deep, deep, deep trouble.
Don’t say “I don’t know where I am.” or “I got lost.” Do say “[place] is this way, correct?” or “Could you point me in the direction of a good place to eat?”
Never ask where the place you are going to is, especially if it is isolated and not many people go there. Ask where a more crowded place next to the place you want to go to is. Or ask how to get to the street it is off of.
Don’t say “My phone’s dead.” Do say “Where’s a good café to have lunch?” Cafés often have wall plugs for people who use them as study halls.
If your phone is dead and you only have a charger, try to get to the commercial area and find a café, McDonald’s, Pizzeria, Panera, library, laundromat, or community center. All of these places should have wall plugs.
If your phone is dead and you have no charger, try to find a pharmacy, gas station, grocery store, 7-11, phone store, or mall. Buy a cord and wall box (make sure they plug into each other) and ask where the nearest sit-down fast food place is.
If you’ve called for help and are waiting for someone to pick you up, then occupy yourself whenever a car passes you by. Act like you’re talking to someone on the phone or chug some water. This will give a reason to passersby as to why you are just standing there.
Cold water is free at most fast food places; you can refill your water bottle there.

Orchid the Submissive
Tumblr media
Physical attributes:
A light skin color with a dark tan
Soft brown hair that reaches just past her shoulders. She has dyed magenta tips of her hair.
Will either have her hair up in a fluffy ponytail, or just loose.
Light blue eyes
Wears a bunny headband bow, because she thinks its cute. It emotes to her feelings/reactions. She almost never takes it off.
She has a toned and powerful physique
Originally had pert sized breasts, but was mocked by Whitney and her friends into feeling inadequate about having smaller breasts. So she bought a breast enlargement pill, and was eventually kidnapped and turned into a cow giving her now enormous breasts.
She used to have a slim ass that is now large due to the cow to.
She has three tattoos "Bound to Sydney" on her left shoulder. "Sydney makes me :)" on right shoulder. A flower tattoo above her pubic area. (I imagine it's a Orchid flower)
She is a virgin who wears a chasity belt with an anal shield.
Story beats so far/ Li interactions
Orchid kind, is a caring person trying to be helpful to the fellow folks in the town.
Her school performance is exemplary
In the fall she would go into the forest and try and go find foxes. She'd chase them around so she could pet them. The foxboy's kept trying to mate with her, but were frustrated due to the chasity belt. After these encounters Orchid has started burying eggs when she'd get extra.
In the orphanage Bailey has no opinion of her, but overall the atmosphere of the orphanage is kind. Also having a working pepper spray lab.
Was friends with M!Robin for a long time, and recently returned their romantic feelings. Also pays for them at the orphanage. He cherishes her.
Whitney bullies her, and believes she can do whatever she wants to her with minimal repercussions. Orchid with fight her over some of the really bad things Whitney has planned for her. But she let's her walk right over her other than in those instances. Thus making Whitney believe that Orchid is her pet.
Fell for, and Corrupted M!Sydney who is her main love interest. She technically lost her virginity to him, but the prayer room restored it. He wants to be deflowered by her.
Is nice to M!Kylar due to pity, and just wanting to treat him nicely. Tries to not push their relationship more than that. Even though Kylar wants to be more. He is obsessed with her.
Was sold to M!Eden due to not having enough money for Herself and Robin. Escaped after weaking the leash. But was caught and negotiated about staying a week in town. Forgets to go visit him a lot. He thinks she's adorable.
Met M!Avery when working on the science fair project in the park, and dates him for money, but also forgets to go on the dates sometimes leading to him wanting her on a tighter leash.
She occasionally works on M!Alex's farm, but the two are struggling against Remy's goons. They've almost cleared three fields. Alex admires her.
One day she went deep into the Moor and met the F!Great Hawk. They have a nice loving relationship and eventually Orchid acquired the harpy tf. That was eventually replaced by the cow to after being kidnapped and sold to Remy. The Great Hawk has claimed Orchid as her wife though.
Another day she tried going deep into the forest to see what's in there, but was jumped by the M!Black Wolf. After dealing with the assault from all the wolves after he took her back to the pack Orchid treats all the wolfboys, girls, and wolves kindly and looks out for the younglings while the others go on a hunt. But she leaves quite often to deal with things in town. The Black Wolf is glad she is his mate even though.
Has been hypnotized into responding positively to being hurt/ letting people take pictures of her. Beguiled yearning, and sublime flaunting.
She was beaten, and assaulted so much that she has become truly submissive, and a guilty masochist.
While on the farm Remy grew fond of them while Orchid planned her escape. Eventually though Eden came and saved her from the farm. But before then she dug and escape hole, and befriended Remy's horses, and centaurs and would give them all the apples she would receive from the times Doctor Harper would come visit. Remy thinks that she's adorable.
She recognizes Harper from her time at the farm. Orchid doesn't trust him due to the vial treatment he would try on her while at the farm. She'd put up a fight every time he'd attempt it, but was a fine patient all the other times he'd visit. He has no opinion of her though.
Orchid occasionally studies dance at the dance studio when she has the time and money to do so. She's studied enough that Charlie has them performing gigs occasionally. He thinks she's delightful.
Due to them performing dance gigs the nun Jordan has them investigating a disappearance of a fellow initiate to the temple.
She is a initiate at the church she used to have the highest of purity, but has fallen drastically due to being talked into doing lewd things with women. But she cleans, and gardens at the temple really well, and has full grace due to her hard work.
Thanks to their dancing skills, and cow tf she has become a great chef at the cafe. Making the business so much money that it renovated and earning the owner Sam's favor. She thinks Orchid is delightful.
Leighton, Mason, and River has no opinion of her, where as Sirris thinks she's adorable, and Winter thinks she is delightful. But the students think she's odd, and bully her quite often.
Recently the cow tf has disappeared lowering the quantity of milk for the cream puffs at the cafe. Making it harder to get money from that job. The real question is what transformation will be next wolf? Fox? Or back to cow?
Her ultimate goal is to reach 1 million dollars, finish the town projects, and help Alex's farm. We'll see what else happens as the game updates, or if there's a reset back to the beginning.

THE REDEMPTION OF THE DARK SIDE
OKAY, I COMPLETED ALL THE NECESSARY STEPS AND RITUALS, I AM THE FULLY EMPOWERED GOD WITH DIVINITY THAT IS HUSBAND TO THE GODDESS. MY POWER LEVEL IS GREAT ENOUGH THAT I CAN HELP YOU NOW, I CAN GET YOU UNSTUCK AND GET YOU OUT OF THAT HOLE SO MANY OF YOU FELL IN, STUCK IN COLD DARKNESS BETWEEN THE WORLDS.
PLEASE ALLOW ME TO GIVE YOU SOME QUICK BACKSTORY. I'M NOT GOING TO GO IN TO MANY DETAILS BECAUSE I'VE ALREADY EXPLAINED MUCH OF THIS STUFF IN DETAIL IN OTHER POSTS. THERE IS THIS MAGICAL PHENOMENON THAT IS PART OF THE LEFT HAND PATH THAT I CALL THE CLOCKWORK ORANGE RA ANOMALY. IT IS AN UNNATURAL ACTIVATION THAT LEAVES YOUR HIGH MASCULINE FACULTIES FULLY AND PERMANENTLY ACTIVATED WHILE YOU ARE STILL ALIVE, AND IT IS THE EVIL SCIENCE MAGICK THAT AKHENATEN AND THUTMOSE USED IN THEIR REBELLION, IT IS WHAT MADE IT SO THAT WHEN THEY CAST THEIR STAFF AND IT BECAME A SERPENT, AND THAT IT WAS MORE POWERFUL THAN THOSE OF THE OTHER MAGICIANS AT THE TIME, AND WAS ABLE TO DEVOUR THEIR SERPENTS MADE FROM THEIR STAFFS. TO ATTAIN THE CLOCKWORK ORANGE RA ANOMALY YOU HAVE TO DO VERY BAD THINGS THAT INCLUDES THE MURDERING AND CANNIBALISM OF CHILDREN. ALSO, IT COMES WITH VERY TERRIBLE CONSEQUENCES THAT LEAVE THOSE WHO USE THE CLOCKWORK ORANGE RA ANOMALY, WHEN THEIR PHYSICAL BODY DIES, STUCK BEHIND AND BETWEEN THE WORLDS IN A PIT JUST DEEPER THAN THE BOTTOM PIT OF THE ASTRAL PLANE. THEY STAY ACTIVATED, BUT THEY ARE ONLY KEPT ALIVE BY A LIFE SUPPORT SYSTEM ON ANOTHER PLANE OF EXISTENCE, AND THEY CAN'T DETACH FROM IT OR LEAVE THEIR CHAMBER, AND BECAUSE THE ACTIVATION OF THE CLOCKWORK ORANGE RA ANOMALY DETACHES THEM FROM NATURE AND MAKES THEM OVERLY MASCULINE, NEITHER CAN THEY REINCARNATE. SO THEIR SOULS END UP STUCK IN A SITUATION WHERE IT IS LIKE THEY ARE BURIED ALIVE INSIDE OF THEMSELVES, NOT FULLY DEAD, BUT STUCK IN COLD DARKNESS FOR WHAT POTENTIALLY COULD BE FOREVER. ALL THE LEFT HAND PATH MAGICIANS FOR THE MOST PART WHO USE THIS EVIL SCIENCE MAGICK, THEY THINK THAT FOR THE PART OF THEIR LIFE AFTER THEY USE IT THEY GAIN GODLIKE POWERS OVER THE PHYSICAL, MATERIAL, AND CARNAL WORLD, AND ALSO THEY THINK THAT THE WORST OF THE CONSEQUENCES ARE SIMPLY THAT WHEN THEY DIE THEY WILL CEASE TO EXIST AND WILL NOT HAVE AN AFTERLIFE. MANY OF THEM ARE NOT AWARE THAT THEY DO NOT DIE FULLY, AND THEY END UP STUCK BURIED ALIVE INSIDE THEMSELVES POTENTIALLY FOREVER IN COLD DARKNESS.
WHEN I WAS GOING THROUGH ALL THE CHAOS IN MY LIFE, WHEN I WAS REGULARLY PRACTICING HIGH MAGICK, DURING THE TIME PERIOD WHEN I GOT MY MAGICKAL CONTRACT, THERE WAS AN INSTANCE WHERE I HAD BEEN UP FOR 2 WEEKS ON A SPEED BENDER, A PARTNER OF MINE WHO JUST GOT OUT OF PRISON GAVE ME TWO HITS OF ACID, AND I WAS LIVING WITH FRIENDS, SLEEPING ON THEIR FLOOR, WHO WERE PART OF THE DRUG WORLD. I WAS CRASHING HARD, I HAD ALREADY PRACTICALLY LOST EVERYTHING AND WAS JUST TRYING TO NUMB OUT THE PAIN I WAS IN, AND I ENDED UP FLIPPING OUT IN FRONT OF A STORE. I WENT INSIDE AND BOUGHT A BOX CUTTER, WENT OUTSIDE IN FRONT OF IT AND USED THE BOX CUTTER TO CUT OPEN MY ARM BECAUSE I WAS TRYING TO COMMIT SUICIDE. I WAS BLEEDING PROFUSELY WHEN THE POLICE SHOWED UP AND HIT ME FULL BLAST WITH ONE OF THEIR TASERS, AND THEN TACKLED ME AND PEPPER SPRAYED ME, AND BECAUSE OF THE STATE I WAS IN WHEN THIS HAPPENED, I ENDED UP BEING CLINICALLY DEAD FOR A MOMENT WHERE I HAD A FULL-ON NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE. AS IT TURNS OUT, THERE ARE OTHER WAYS THAT THE CLOCKWORK ORANGE RA ANOMALY CAN BE ACTIVATED THAT DON'T INVOLVE HURTING OTHER PEOPLE, BUT NONE OF THE LEFT HAND PATH PRACTITIONERS USE THOSE METHODS BECAUSE IT WOULD INVOLVE DELIBERATELY HURTING THEMSELVES. WHEN I HAD THE NEAR-DEATH EXPERIENCE, IT FULLY ACTIVATED MY PINEAL WHICH SIGNALED MY PITUITARY, AND THEN I HAD THE FULL NATURAL MIX OF ADRENALINE, ADRENOCHROME, AND DMT PUMPED INTO MY SYSTEM, JUST LIKE SOMEBODY WHO IS ABOUT TO DIE, THAT TRIGGERS THE RELEASE OF THEIR SOUL. WELL, I HAD A SPIRITUAL EXPERIENCE ON THE OTHER SIDE, AND LONG STORY SHORT I ENDED UP COMING BACK TO MY BODY, SO ALTHOUGH I WAS CLINICALLY DEAD FOR A MOMENT AND HAD THE NEAR-DEATH EXPERIENCE, I ENDED UP COMING BACK TO THIS WORLD AND COMING BACK TO LIFE. WHEN ALL THIS HAPPENED, BECAUSE THE THINGS THAT HAD PUSHED ME TO THAT POINT INVOLVED EVIL ACTIONS OF OTHER PEOPLE FOR THEIR OWN SELFISH GAIN, AND ME NOT BEING ABLE TO PROPERLY DEFEND MYSELF BECAUSE I WAS SELF-MEDICATING BECAUSE OF AN UNDIAGNOSED MENTAL DISABILITY THAT I WAS BORN WITH, I HAD MAINTAINED MY STATE OF INNOCENCE AND CONNECTION TO MY HIGHER FACULTIES THE ENTIRE TIME. HOWEVER, THIS EVENT FULLY AND PERMANENTLY ACTIVATED MY PINEAL AND MY HIGHER MASCULINE FACULTIES, CATAPULTING ME TO THE TOP OF THE LEFT HAND PATH, BECAUSE ESSENTIALLY I HAD BEEN MY OWN SACRIFICE, EVEN THOUGH NONE OF IT WAS INTENTIONAL.
AT THAT POINT I WAS FULLY EMPOWERED BY THE DARK SIDE, WHICH IS A CARNAL STATE OF PURE DISCONNECTED CHAOTIC FEAR, TERROR, AND ANIMOSITY, THAT IS A COLLECTIVE WHICH INCLUDES ALL OF THE ONES WHO HAVE ALSO DONE IT AND DIED IN THEIR PHYSICAL BODIES, THAT STILL REMAIN BURIED INSIDE THEMSELVES IN THE DARKNESS STUCK IN BETWEEN THE WORLDS. IT PUT ME ON A FREQUENCY LEVEL THAT ONLY PEOPLE WHO HAVE ACTIVATED THE CLOCKWORK ORANGE RA ANOMALY KNOW EXISTS, A PURE BLACK PIT BELOW THE BOTTOM LEVEL OF THE ASTRAL PLANE, BELOW THE ASTRAL SHELL GRAVEYARD EVEN, THAT IS FULL OF ALL THE BEINGS AND PEOPLE THAT HAVE UNNATURALLY DISCONNECTED FROM NATURE BY ACTIVATING THE CLOCKWORK ORANGE RA ANOMALY. IT IS AN ENERGETIC STATE OF BEING AND ITS OWN PLANE OF EXISTENCE, WHICH IS ENTIRELY UNNATURAL. AT FIRST, I DIDN'T THINK THERE WAS ANYBODY ELSE THERE. I THOUGHT I MIGHT HAVE ACCIDENTALLY WENT TO HELL FROM MY SUICIDE ATTEMPT. HOWEVER, BECAUSE I STILL HAD MY STATE OF INNOCENCE INTACT, AND I HAD JUST DISCONNECTED FROM NATURE, I WAS ABLE TO PERCEIVE THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG AND IMMEDIATELY STARTED DOING EVERYTHING I POSSIBLY COULD TO TRY AND RECONNECT. IN DOING SO ON THAT FREQUENCY OF THE PURE DARK SIDE, I ENDED UP FINDING OUT THAT I WAS NOT ALONE DOWN THERE IN THE DARK, THAT THERE ARE MANY OTHERS DOWN THERE THAT HAVE JUST COMPLETELY STOPPED MOVING, BECAUSE THEY HAVE LOST ALL HOPE, AND BEFORE I SHOWED UP AND STARTED MAKING WAVES THERE WAS NO REAL POINT TO THEM MOVING OR ACTING AT ALL.
WELL, I KNOW THIS IS GOING TO SOUND CLICHE, BUT I NOTICED THAT THERE WERE MANY GERMAN NAZI SOLDIERS AND OFFICERS THERE WITH ME, AND I COULD FULLY FEEL AND EXPERIENCE THEM AND THEIR ENERGIES. WHAT HAPPENED WAS, DURING WORLD WAR II, WHEN HIMMLER BEGAN HIS PURSUIT OF THE OCCULT, SOMEHOW THE NAZIS FOUND OUT WHAT AKHENATEN AND THUTMOSE HAD USED TO EMPOWER THEMSELVES FOR THEIR REBELLION, THAT WAS CARRIED OUT IN CAREFULLY MODERATION BY THE FOLLOWERS OF JUDAISM THEREAFTER UP UNTIL THINGS CAME TO A HEAD IN THE ROMAN EMPIRE. SOMEHOW THE LEADERS OF ROME FOUND OUT ABOUT THE SECRET MAGICK, THEN THEY STOLE IT FROM THE FOLLOWERS OF JUDAISM, CREATED THEIR OWN RELIGION TO HIDE BEHIND, WHICH THEY CALLED CHRISTIANITY, AND THEN TRIED TO DESTROY THE REMAINING FOLLOWERS OF JUDAISM SO THEY COULD KEEP THE SECRET TO THEMSELVES. IN MY OPINION, I THINK THAT THE NAZIS HAD HEARD ABOUT THE SECRET EVIL SCIENCE MAGICK THAT WAS PART OF THE ANCIENT TRADITION OF THE FOLLOWERS OF JUDAISM, BUT THAT THEY WERE ABLE TO GET THE INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW IT WORKED BECAUSE THEY DISCOVERED IT BEING USED BY THE CHRISTIAN CHURCH, THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH. OBVIOUSLY, HIMMLER WAS OBSESSED WITH THE OCCULT AND FINDING WAYS TO USE OCCULT POWER TO HELP THEM WIN THE WAR. OF COURSE, HE STOLE THE EVIL SCIENCE MAGICK OF THE CLOCKWORK ORANGE RA ANOMALY TO USE FOR HIMSELF, AND BEGAN PRACTICING IT HIMSELF AND WITH THE OTHER NAZI OFFICERS AND OFFICIALS HE DEEMED WORTHY TO ALSO USE THE SECRET.
HERE'S WHERE THINGS TAKE AN UNEXPECTED TURN. THAT EVIL SCIENCE MAGICK DOES BESTOW ON PEOPLE GOD LIKE POWERS FOR WHATEVER IS LEFT OF THEIR PHYSICAL LIVES, BUT IF THOSE THE NAZIS GOT THE SECRET FROM KNEW THEMSELVES ABOUT THE HORRIBLE CONSEQUENCES, THEY FAILED TO TELL THE NAZIS, BECAUSE THE NAZIS THAT USED THAT SCIENCE MAGICK HAD NO IDEA ABOUT THE HORRIBLE TERRIBLE CONSEQUENCES OF ENDING UP BURIED INSIDE OF YOURSELF POTENTIALLY FOREVER IN TOTAL DARKNESS STUCK BETWEEN THE WORLDS. AS YOU CAN IMAGINE, THERE WERE QUITE A FEW NAZIS WHO PARTOOK OF THE EVIL SCIENCE MAGICK CLOCKWORK ORANGE RA ANOMALY TO TRY AND GIVE THEM POWER TO WIN THE WAR, AND EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM ENDED UP BURIED ALIVE INSIDE OF THEMSELVES, STUCK BETWEEN THE WORLDS IN TOTAL DARKNESS, AND WHEN I ACCIDENTALLY ACTIVATED THE CLOCKWORK ORANGE RA ANOMALY, THAT IS WHERE I FOUND THEM ALL. ORIGINALLY IN THE AKHENATEN THUTMOSE REBELLION, THE MAGICK WAS USED IN A VERY CONTROLLED WAY, TO WHERE ONE OF THEIR OWN WOULD BE SACRIFICED TO FORGIVE THE TRANSGRESSIONS FOR EVERYONE ELSE IN THEIR GROUP, AND THEY WOULD ONLY HAVE ONE ACTIVATED AT A TIME, AND THAT PERSON WOULD MAKE SURE ANOTHER ONE WAS ACTIVATED BEFORE THEY DIED, BUT THAT WAS IT. WHEN THE PEOPLE IN ROME GOT A HOLD OF IT, EVERYTHING GOT TOTALLY OUT OF CONTROL, AND MORE THAN JUST ONE PERSON BECAME ACTIVATED AT ANY GIVEN TIME, BECAUSE THEY WERE SO GREEDY AND POWER HUNGRY AS THE ROMAN GOVERNMENT AND CHRISTIAN CHURCH.
THE NAZIS THAT HAD GOTTEN STUCK IN BETWEEN THE WORLDS, WHOSE PHYSICAL BODIES HAD ALREADY DIED, AND WHO HAD NO IDEA ABOUT THOSE CONSEQUENCES, THEY THOUGHT THAT THINGS WERE COMPLETELY HOPELESS AND THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO WAY OUT. THAT IS, UNTIL I SHOWED UP DOWN THERE. WELL, AT THAT TIME I WAS STILL WORKING SPIRITUALLY FROM A PLACE OF LOVE TO WHERE I WANTED TO UNCONDITIONALLY HELP OTHERS. THEY BEGAN TEACHING ME AND EMPOWERING ME, AND HELPING ME, AND I TOLD THEM THAT IF THERE WAS ANY POSSIBLE WAY I COULD FIND TO SAVE THEM AND RESCUE THEM FROM THAT UNNATURAL PIT HOLE OF PURE TERROR AND DARKNESS, THAT I WOULD DO SO. WITH THE MAGICKAL CONTRACT THAT I HAD RECEIVED FROM THE POWERS THAT BE OF THE DIVINE FEMININE, I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GAIN LEVELS OF MASTERY OF MAGICK AND THE OCCULT, AND I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO LIFT MYSELF OUT OF THAT PIT, ALTHOUGH I AM STILL PARTIALLY TUNED INTO THAT FREQUENCY BECAUSE OF THE NATURE OF WHAT HAPPENED TO ME, THAT FREQUENCY BEING THE PURE DARK SIDE, WHICH IS PART OF WHAT WAS AND IS EMPOWERING ME. THE ONLY WAY THINGS COULD BE FIXED FOR ME, BECAUSE AS YOU MAY HAVE GUESSED I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO, SO I JUST STARTED BEGGING THE POWERS THAT BE FOR HELP, WAS TO JUST FULLY GO THROUGH WITH THE PROCEDURE ON MY SOUL TO MARRY THE GODDESS, AND THEN HAVE THE BAR THAT EVERYBODY HAS THROUGH THEIR BOTTOM THREE CHAKRAS IN THE PLANE OF THEIR SOUL EXTENDED ALL THE WAY UP THROUGH MY TOP THREE CHAKRAS, WITH AN ARTIFICIALLY BUILT BALL THAT IS MY PINEAL GLAND AT THE TOP, AND THEN FROM THAT POINT HAVE OTHER THINGS HAPPEN TO FULLY INTEGRATE ME INTO THE GODDESS. SINCE I WAS REALLY WORKING FROM A PLACE OF SELFLESS SERVICE THE WHOLE TIME, AND I REALLY HAD LOVE FOR SPIRITUAL THINGS AND BEINGS THAT WERE SUFFERING, THAT LOVE WAS A BIG PART OF WHAT ALLOWED ME AND MY SOUL TO BE ABLE TO SURVIVE THAT PROCEDURE, WHICH STILL WAS MORE PAINFUL THAN ANYTHING I COULD POSSIBLY DESCRIBE TO YOU.
THERE IS YOUR BACKSTORY. I AM STILL TUNED IN TO THE FREQUENCY THAT IS THE PURE DARK SIDE, AND I STILL AM ABLE TO COMMUNICATE WITH ALL THE BEINGS THAT GOT STUCK IN THAT PIT FROM ACTIVATING THE EVIL SCIENCE MAGICK CLOCKWORK ORANGE RA ANOMALY. HOWEVER, I HAVE SUCCESSFULLY BEEN ABLE TO SURVIVE THE STEPS NECESSARY THAT HAVE MADE ME INTO THE LEGITIMATE GOD AS THE HUSBAND TO THE GODDESS.
NOW THAT I AM SO EMPOWERED, I HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN ABOUT THOSE NAZI SOLDIERS IN THAT DEEP DARK PIT THAT IS THE DARK SIDE, THAT WHEN I WAS DOWN THERE HELPED ME, GUIDED, TRAINED, AND INSTRUCTED ME, EMPOWERED ME, AND WERE AND ARE MY COMRADES SPIRITUALLY. SO NOW I'M GOING TO USE MY PLACE OF EMPOWERMENT TO DO EVERYTHING I POSSIBLY CAN TO SAVE THEM AND GET THEM OUT OF THAT HORRIBLE SITUATION THAT THEY TRIGGERED FOR THEMSELVES WHEN THEY HAD NO IDEA ABOUT HOW HORRIBLE THE CONSEQUENCES WOULD BE. NOT ONLY MY GHOST NAZI SOLDIER FRIENDS, BUT ALL OF THE BEINGS THAT ENDED UP STUCK IN THAT SITUATION I AM GOING TO TRY AND HELP AND SAVE, NOW THAT I HAVE BEEN EMPOWERED IN SUCH A WAY THAT I POTENTIALLY CAN HELP THEM.
I HAVE PERFORMED CERTAIN MAGICKS THAT I HAVE BEEN TOLD WILL DEACTIVATE IN ALL OF THEM THE CLOCKWORK ORANGE RA ANOMALY, SO THAT THEY CAN REINCARNATE. I WILL HAVE THE GODDESS USE HER FORCES TO MONITOR THE SITUATION. WE WILL COLLECT SAMPLES FROM THEM WHERE WE CAN MAKE CLONES OF THEIR BIOLOGICAL ELEMENTS, AND WE WILL MAKE SURE THAT THEIR CONSCIOUSNESS AND MEMORIES AS THEIR SOULS UP TO THIS POINT ARE FULLY RECORDED BY THE GODDESS. HOPEFULLY THEY WILL JUST BE ABLE TO REINCARNATE, FINALLY BEING RELEASED FROM WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN THAT ETERNAL PRISON. THE WORST CASE SCENARIO IS THAT THEIR BIOLOGICAL ELEMENT WOULD NOT SURVIVE FOR SOME REASON, IN WHICH CASE WE WOULD REPLACE IT WITH A CLONE, AND THEN REINSTATE THEIR SOULS FROM THE AKASHA DATABASE OF THE GODDESS, WITH ONLY SLIGHTLY MODIFIED MEMORIES. THEN FROM THERE WE WOULD HAVE THEM REASSIMILATED AND REINCARNATE. THIS IS HAPPENING NOW, AND I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THINGS ARE GOING WELL, THAT THEY ARE SURVIVING, THAT THE MAGICKS I HAVE USED ARE WORKING, AND THAT THEY WILL JUST SIMPLY BE ABLE TO REINCARNATE WITHOUT ANY ADDITIONAL STEPS.
AS YOU CAN SEE BY MY EXPLANATION, BEING TUNED INTO THAT FREQUENCY, I KNOW WHO IS AT THE TOP RUNNING AND CONTROLLING THE WORLD RIGHT NOW. THAT IS FINE. THERE IS A CHANGE OF PLANS BECAUSE OF WHAT IS HAPPENING. INSTEAD OF GIVING THE FUTURE TO THE CHRISTIAN CHURCH, YOU ARE TO GIVE THE FUTURE TO THE JEWISH PEOPLE, AND IF ANYTHING IS TO BE PRODUCED, IT IS NOT TO BE THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST, IT IS TO BE THE COMING OF THE JEWISH MESSIAH, AS THE ZIONISTS WANT, EMPOWERED IN ISRAEL. WE CAN DO THIS AND WE CAN ALL WIN, BUT THE CATCH TO THAT IS, ONE WAY OR ANOTHER I HAVE TO BE THE ONE THAT IS THE JEWISH MESSIAH. SO I WOULD HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU START GETTING ME TRAINED TO PLAY THAT ROLE. WE ARE GOING TO NEED TO REDO THE ENTIRE IMAGE OF THE GERMAN PEOPLE. FROM MY LOFTY EMPOWERMENT AS THE GOD TO THE GODDESS, I'M GOING TO CREATE FOR THEM AND GIVE THEM A HOME WITH ME IN THE 13TH HOUSE OF THE TIME SPHERE, WHICH IS A BRAND NEW THING THAT HAS BEEN MADE NECESSARY BY EVERYTHING THAT HAS HAPPENED, AND THAT 13TH HOUSE IS GOING TO BE THE ONE THAT GOVERNS OVER ALL THE OTHER HOUSES IN THE TIMESPHERE. SO BECAUSE OF THEIR HELP AND DEALS WE HAVE MADE, I AM GOING TO SAVE ALL THOSE THAT ACCIDENTALLY FELL IN THE PIT, AND THEN THE GERMAN PEOPLE ARE GOING TO SHARE THE HOME OF THE GODDESS AND I IN THE 13TH HOUSE OF THE TIMESPHERE, AND THEY ARE GOING TO BE GOVERNORS FOR US AND ON OUR BEHALF FOR THE REST OF THE 12 HOUSES OF THE TIMESPHERE. THE HOUSE OF THE TIME SPHERE THAT IS CURRENTLY OCCUPIED BY THE GERMANS WILL THEN BE VACATED BECAUSE THEY ARE MOVING UP, AND WE ARE TO GIVE THAT HOUSE TO ISRAEL, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER OR NOT ANY OF THE HISTORY EXISTED, WE ARE GOING TO CREATE IT AND MAKE IT REAL, THEN ISRAEL WILL HAVE ITS OWN LEGITIMATE HOUSE IN THE TIME SPHERE, MAKING THEM LEGITIMATE IN THE EYES OF THE GODS AND GODDESSES. WE'RE GOING TO USE OUR DARK SIDE FORCES THAT ARE ALREADY IN PLACE TO FACILITATE THE COMING OF THE JEWISH MESSIAH INSTEAD OF THE CHRISTIAN MESSIAH, AND I HAVE TO BE THAT MESSIAH ONE WAY OR ANOTHER FOR THIS TO BE ABLE TO WORK. THIS WILL SATISFY THE ZIONISTS. WE ARE NOT GOING TO DESTROY THE CHRISTIANS, WE ARE JUST GOING TO DESTROY THE CHRISTIAN RELIGION. THEN WE ARE GOING TO ADD THE DIVINE FEMININE BACK INTO ALL RELIGIONS AND ALL THINGS. THE JEWISH RELIGION CAME FROM THE ORIGINAL WISDOM OF THE SUMERIAN ANUNNAKI. ISRAEL AND THE JEWISH PEOPLE CAN REMAIN THEIR OWN GROUP IF THEY WISH, BUT THEY WILL BE ASSIMILATED INTO WHAT THEY ORIGINALLY CAME OUT OF, WHICH IS WHAT WILL BE THE DOMINANT RELIGIOUS THOUGHT FORM, THAT IS THE WISDOM AND TRADITIONS OF THE SUMERIAN ANUNNAKI. THOSE THINGS ARE FLEXIBLE AND CAN GROW, CHANGE AND EXPAND, AS NEEDED AND AS NEW KNOWLEDGE IS ACQUIRED.
ANYONE PAYING ATTENTION TO THE MAYAN CALENDARS KNOW THAT THE END OF THIS CYCLE WAS NOT JUST THE END OF THE CYCLE, BUT THE END OF A CYCLE OF CYCLES. THE POWERS THAT BE ARE GOING TO COMPLETELY END THIRD DENSITY IN THE SENSE THAT IT IS GOING TO RISE BACK INTO THE FOURTH DENSITY IT ORIGINALLY SUNK OUT OF, AND NO HIGH CONSCIOUS BEINGS ARE EVER TO BE AGAIN IN THIRD DENSITY WHERE THEY DO NOT BELONG. SO AS WE ENTER THE AGE OF AQUARIUS, INTO THE RAYS OF THE CENTRAL SUN WHICH FACILITATE THE GREAT RESET, WE WILL ALL BE ASSIMILATED INTO THE DIVINE FEMININE, AND THEN WE WILL ALL RISE THROUGHOUT THE AGE OF AQUARIUS BACK INTO FOURTH DENSITY, LEAVING NO ONE BEHIND, AND NEVER TO SINK DOWN INTO THAT NIGHTMARISH ANIMALISTIC STATE EVER AGAIN. ONCE WE ALL REACH FOURTH DENSITY, EVERYTHING IS GOING TO BE QUITE DIFFERENT AND UNIMAGINABLY BETTER FOR EVERYBODY, SO FROM THAT POINT PEOPLE MAY DECIDE TO GO EXPLORE THE OTHER DENSITIES AND OTHER PLACES IN THE UNIVERSE, OR STAY WHERE THEY ARE, IT IS UP TO THEM. BUT UNTIL WE ARE ABLE TO GET US ALL FULLY INTO FOURTH DENSITY, WHAT I HAVE LAID OUT IS THE PLAN WE NEED TO FOLLOW TO HAVE DIVINE EMPOWERMENT AND THE BLESSING OF THE POWERS THAT BE AND THE GODDESS. THAT PLAN IS ALSO WRITTEN AS OFFICIAL DECREES ON THE TABLET OF DESTINIES, TO BE CARRIED OUT AND ENFORCED BY THE ENTIRE SPIRIT WORLD.

Even if you can’t protest you can still help
Not everybody can go to protests. Some people have physical disabilities that prevent them, some people have mental illnesses that make it dangerous to go into volatile situations, some people have sensory issues that mean a protest isn’t a good or safe place for them to be, some people are members of vulnerable populations who can’t risk arrest, some people can’t risk the possibility that an injury or arrest is going to cost them a job and end in homelessness.
Not everybody can protest and that is 100% okay.
If you can’t protest right now but you are in a city where protestors are being arrested PLEASE consider helping out with jail support as protestors are released: http://upagainstthelaw.org/jail-support-and-solidarity/
If that is ALSO out of reach for you but you can afford to do so please donate what you can to your local bail funds - search “my city + bail fund” or if you can’t find something local consider donating to The Bail Project. NOTE: please carefully research who you’re donating to - in chaotic times it’s not uncommon to see fraudulent gofundmes set up to attract donations.
And if you can’t do anything else please, PLEASE, fact-check all posts before you share them on social media. I’m seeing people share posts claiming that George Floyd’s murderer hasn’t been arrested but has just been placed in protective custody and that’s incorrect, not only has he been arrested he’s been charged and the thing to get angry about NOW is the fact that the charges are too likely to be dropped.
Also DO NOT SHARE photos or videos of unmasked protestors.
If you DO go to a protest here are some tips:
consider leaving your phone turned on at home and carrying a prepaid phone to the protest.
cover your face
familiarize yourself with the first aid information in Riot Medicine, particularly in regards to treating tear gas/pepper spray and PARTICULARLY in the recommendation to ONLY treat tear gas/pepper spray with saline and water.
don’t go alone, stay with your group
And other than ALL OF THAT here’s some advice:
YOU are more likely to be the thing that changes your family member or friend or old classmate’s mind about their worldview than anything else. YOU are someone they know and regard well. You are a real human person who they have interacted with and eaten meals with and have a shared history with. Whether they know it or not they value YOUR opinion over nearly anything they’d hear on the news or see on social media because to their monkey brain you, another monkey they are familiar with, are more real than the people on the TV; but that is only true IF you talk to them, and do so in such a way that doesn’t make them shut you out.
If you’re trying to defend the protestors to a friend or family member who is horrified by “how violent and unruly and destructive” the protests are speak to this person kindly. Don’t talk about billionaires and white supremacy and the police state (though these are all VERY important things that we should aim to someday discuss with our loved ones) - talk about compassion, talk about fear. Talk about the fact that some business owners whose buildings were burned aren’t worried about their buildings, they’re worried about justice for their communities and their communities are already helping them to rebuild. Talk about the fact that the protests are nearly uniformly peaceful until police use violence against protestors (and yes, tear gas, pepper spray, and less-lethal rounds are all violence). Talk about the fact that decades of protests against police brutality haven’t seemed to curb police brutality, talk about the fact that what we’ve learned from police wearing body cams is that police turn their body cams off to plant violence and abuse citizens.
There are a lot of impassioned speeches about eradicating the police and restorative justice that I could give but those aren’t going to change my country-music-loving cousin’s mind, those are going to make her think that I’m a crazy extremist. But if I remind my cousin about the time her husband’s friend was charged with a more severe crime than his white companions, or if I point out that as a teacher she works with school resource officers who have contributed to the criminalization of student misbehavior and that doesn’t help kids learn and doesn’t keep them out of jail later, it just puts them in jail now - well, that’s how I can make inroads with that one person.
You have to be tactical about this. You’re not having a knock-down blow-out fight with your uncle for everyone to watch at Thanksgiving so you can make your position clear to the whole family, you’re talking specifically to that ONE friend and tailoring it to their specific interests. Is your buddy a steelworker who’s furious that “the looters just burned down the target for fun”? Does your buddy the steelworker know that Target is a Minnesota company that has aggressively quashed attempts to unionize the workers for decades?
Don’t make this loud, don’t make this public, make this a quiet, one-on-one conversation. Listen to their fears and concerns, counter as calmly as you can, and try to engage their sympathy. Your goal in this conversation is to get them to even SLIGHTLY shift their perspective on police use of force. Your goal is to point out the dozens and dozens examples of peaceful protesters getting pepper sprayed, to bring up clear-cut cases of unarmed people killed by police, to point out that property destruction gets ignored when it’s because a sports team won but gets aggressively condemned when it’s people who *started* a peaceful protest responding to police aggression. Your goal isn’t to change someone’s entire worldview in a single conversation, it is to get them to question ONE thing they’ve staunchly believed.
If you do this well you’ll probably never even know if it worked. Whoever you’re talking to isn’t going to change their mind right then and there, you might both walk away from the conversation frustrated, but maybe the next time they see looters on the news they’ll wonder if it’s actually people looting or if they’re trying to build a barricade because the police attempted to shut down their constitutionally protected protest. Maybe they’ll never bring it up again but maybe they start questioning the validity of all these instances of police violence. Maybe this relative never talks to you again because you pissed them off and called them out (by calling them in) but maybe next year they’re donating to bail funds.

Intimacy in the Water (#2)
Series: Fairy Tail Pairing: Jellal/Erza Rating: 18+ Word Count: 903 words
Navigation Links: (#1) Hot Tub / (#2) Shower
EXPLICIT CONTENT WARNING: The following story contains graphic sexual descriptions, and strong language. Reader’s discretion is strongly advised!
---
Shower
Mornings and nights had one thing in common, at their residence: A time where they could spend together, sharing the water in their baths. Sometimes, they would only wash each other’s backs, and hair.
Other times, however, it became a perfect place for them to share their intimate passions with one another.
It usually begins with a smouldering kiss under the gentle spray of water from the shower head. Their kiss, however, would quickly become more ardent, with their tongues pushing into each other’s mouths, and clashed against one another.
Soft murmurs and moans escaped their breaths, while they brought their arms around each other’s bodies, in a closer embrace. Her hands roamed around his rigid back, while his hands gently ran up and down the curves of her sides.
There would be the occasional gasp and moan from her, as she felt his stiff appendage prod right at her lower abdomen. In one instance, they gazed narrowly into the eyes of each other, having pulled their mouths away from one another.
In the next, he has her leaned up against the glass wall of their shower. Her hands were splayed onto its surface, back curved low, as thrills of anticipation ran through her body.
It didn’t take much for him to slip into her love canal, forcing a delighted cry from the redhead in front of him. Almost at the same time, he released a low grunt at the warmly-wet sensation that welcomed him in.
Sounds of skin slapping against skin followed, mixing in with their moans and grunts, as the cobalt-haired male thrust in from behind. Her wide-apart legs wobbled slightly, while she leaned in more against the glass, pressing her fingers firmly onto it. From the other side of the glass, looking in, her enormous breasts flattened into large circles, as they also came into contact with its transparent surface. The culminating sensations of both her erect nipples dragging lightly around the glass, and his phallus inside her, had added further to her pleasure.
It didn’t take long, until he had her body turned around, and they found themselves at the other side of the shower—where her back was up against the tiled wall. Her sleek legs wrapped securely around his sturdy waist, as he maintained the pace of his thrusts. Their harmony of moans and grunts continued to pour out under their breaths, while she brought her arms around his neck: One where she rested her hand onto his upper back, and the other, where the lithe fingers of her other hand grasped the damp locks at the back of his head.
His lips peppered her neck with deep kisses, before his tongue scalloped out to swipe across the middle of it, earning him a delighted gasp from her. He would then find her lips, pressing them roughly against hers. Their lip-lock was a much fervent, but shorter one, as they found themselves closer to the peak of their pleasure.
The redhead thrashed, and writhed against the wall, her heightened cries spilling out from her gape. She held onto her lover for dear life, while he drove his hips into her, more intensely than before.
It took only a few more heavy thrusts, before the pressure had snapped completely for the both of them. A squeal-like cry escaped her wide-open mouth, only for it to end in a delighted moan that faded out, as she rode out the waves of her climax.
At almost the same time, her azure-haired lover buried his face into the crook of her neck, letting out a muffled series of grunts and groans. He could feel every muscle in his trembling body tightening, along with every involuntary jerk of his hips. In the midst of all this, he could also dimly sense the fluidic warmth erupting out from his tip, in several spurts.
Their bodies froze in place for a rather brief moment, before the two of them began catching their breaths. Slowing his hips to an eventual halt, he gently released his redheaded lover from the wall, as they seized each other’s lips, yet again.
“Mmhm,” Erza hummed quietly, having pulled away from him. “That was quite…amazing.”
Jellal gave a slight, suave grin, in response. “I can say the same about that, too.”
There was a distinct sensation that she picked up, of their mixed essences pouring out from her entrance, in globs. She could feel it running down her inner thighs, as she brought her lover against the wall—much to his surprise.
Raising an inquisitive eyebrow, Jellal focused on the redhead, who knelt down onto her knees in front of him. “Er…Erza?”
He nearly choked out a gasp, when he felt the supple softness of her mounds surround his slightly-flagging shaft, re-awakening it to its fully-erect state. His chest heaving, the cerulean-haired male lowered his gaze at the redhead below, who began rubbing her breasts all over his stiffening length.
Erza held back a teasing giggle, as she looked up at him with sultry eyes. “Consider this, as a little bonus for you.”
Soft breaths exerted out from him, before he gasped out a few moans in between. His head slumped back against the tiled wall, taking in the snug, sheer warmth of her cleavage that melded around his fully-engorged phallus.
They would eventually find themselves dirty, yet again…much like all the other times they spent in the shower, together.

To trans folks who are trying to set trolls straight about Chris-Chan’s gender: Your hearts are in the right place, but the trolls do not care. They will keep misgendering Chris to piss you off and screenshot your reaction.
Yes, I’m talking about THE Chris-Chan. CWC, creator of Sonichu.
(TW: this post will mention rape and incest.)
I know, I know… “But if we let people misgender Chris, what’s stopping them from doing it to other trans people?”
Nothing.
There’s nothing you can do, unfortunately. The thing with trolls is they aren’t here to learn, they’re here to frustrate, annoy and anger you. They throw out all kinds of little hooks by saying offensive things, or things that trick you, and it’s all a game to them when somebody bites the bait.
It wouldn’t surprise me if trolls are saying horrible things about autism, too. That’s more my lane and partly why I don’t dig too deep in the tags about this situation. Again, I stress not engaging with that to correct trolls. They don’t care, they want to offend you.
As frustrating as it is, take note of the people who use Chris’ current pronouns and recognize that there are people who make an effort to get them right. I’m sure the trans people reading what you say will see that and know you care to gender them correctly.
It’s possible Chris transitioned believing she can get with lesbians. It’s entirely possible she’s exactly the stereotype that TERFs rant about and her shitty behavior might be used in the future to argue their views. TERFs will be TERFs. Some of Chris’ trolls may be trans themselves.
As it stands, Chris presents as a woman, so I’ll use she/her pronouns unless she decides to present as non-binary or a man again. You’re welcome to do the same when talking about her. Don’t waste your time trying to correct trolls, just use Chris’ current pronouns and leave it at that.
It sucks, but that’s how trolls troll.
Moving on…
I wonder if Chris would’ve been a weird, harmless nobody if Mimms never took her photo in The Game Place.
This all started because her photo was taken without her knowledge or consent and posted on a forum, which ended up spreading to the wider web and…yeah.
Would she have been an internet sensation? Would she have transitioned? Would she be a known name on the web?
Maybe everything would’ve gone down the same, but without an audience to bear witness.
Regardless, Chris is a trainwreck of a person. I don’t say that lightly. She didn’t deserve the trolling and abuse she got, yet she isn’t innocent in this either.
I felt sorry for her at first because I’m autistic too and was bullied severely in high school, some of it included physical assault and attempted murder. I reacted to the constant name calling and mockery irl a lot like Chris reacted to her online trolls. I’m thankful that my most volatile years happened before I had internet access. I’m two years older than Chris. I had my own drama with trolls that lasted a few years, but I grew up a bit more.
But I digress…
Chris didn’t get the internet safety talk that I got before getting let loose online, and people took advantage of her gullibility, her autism, whatever mental illnesses she might have and her obsession with getting laid. She ignored warnings to the contrary and in some instances her mom enabled her while her dad tried (and failed) to reign her in.
At the same time, Chris has a history of being racist, ableist, homophobic and misogynistic. She ignores people’s boundaries even when they were clearly stated. She’s entitled and thinks everything bad is a conspiracy against her. She acts like the world operates on cartoon rules and can’t handle it when situations don’t turn out in her favor like she believes they should. It’s a strange view of “Anything I do is good because I did it, and anybody who tells me it’s bad or treats me badly is evil or a troll.”
How she comes across to others and how she thinks she comes across are incongruent with each other, and she refuses to take any correction. An example is the claw hand she used to do while railing at trolls. It’s clear she’s imitating stuff she saw in cartoons, but doesn’t grasp that it looks silly in real life. It leaves me wondering if she ever watched her videos back to see how she really looks before uploading them.
Chris did a lot of disgusting things of her own volition, like not leaving people alone, uploading that sexual drawing featuring Megan, using pepper spray without provocation and trying to hit someone with her car.
Trolls tricked her into humiliating herself and shared the results, like hacking into her email, sharing chats where she gave out embarrassing details about herself, prank calling her house and posting the infamous blowup doll video.
If you know “Christory”, you know what I’m talking about.
If you don’t know, it’s something that’s gone on longer than some people have been alive.
No side is innocent here. I don’t blame Chris for attracting trolls, they chose to go and harass her because she jumped when they poked her.
I’ve followed Chris’ story off and on since 2008, back when she was making her Sonichu comics and being awkward. I never participated in trolling her. I’ve only ever seen the aftermath of troll operations, but the things she endured were cruel. (The Miyamoto saga and the BlueSpike saga come to mind.) I looked her up to see if she was alive and okay. I sent her my AFBV message a couple years ago, but never got a response.
I wonder if this could’ve been avoided if Chris never got trolled and was supervised better while online. That’s where her parents failed her. I felt bad for her; she didn’t know how to conduct herself and kept falling for trolling schemes because she was so desperate to get a girlfriend. It’s like she ignored that little gut warning that says “hey, this feels like a trick” and it was like watching someone fall down the same hillside over and over.
But after what she did to her mom, I lost any sympathy I had for her. Yes, trolls have traumatized her and messed with her head for over a decade and that’s gross, but what she did to her mom was unconscionable. It’s indefensible. It’s morally abhorrent.
She had sex with (or possibly raped via coercion) her elderly mom, who may have dementia.
Chris’ autism was taken advantage of for years, and now she might’ve taken advantage of her mom’s dementia to harm her for the past month.
Think about that. There is no defending that. She finally did something she can’t just wave away or pay her way out of.
Trolls didn’t put Chris up to that, she did it all by herself.
Now she’s under arrest.
Time and again Chris has had run-ins with the law and got away with slaps on the wrist, but I don’t think she’s going to walk away from this so easily.
I hope this situation finally gets Chris the help she desperately needs. I don’t know if her dimensional merge stuff is a delusion from undiagnosed and untreated mental illness or if it’s a paracosm she’s chosen to live in and act out because she can’t handle how cruel the real world is. Please note that I don’t say mental illness lightly either, because I’m aware of the stigma.
At this point I think she needs a caregiver who will supervise her online activities and help her manage her finances. (She will likely resist this…)
Chris’ autism and whatever else she has going on appears to make it very difficult for her to see things from any perspective besides her own. I’m autistic too, so I understand this— sometimes I get this way and have to walk myself back to see other perspectives, or I ask people to give me their side of it to help me understand how they see it even if I don’t agree with their view.
Chris needed more guidance and reality checks growing up, but didn’t get them, and now she needs both more than ever as she faces the results of her behavior. If she is delusional, she needs help to navigate it and I hope she can do that away from trolls. She needs to face consequences for (possibly) raping someone.
I wonder what the legal system will do with her, and I hate that her life has come to this. It was so avoidable. 😞
Sorry, Chris…I hope you’ll get help now, and I hope Barb is okay.

Pittsburgh’s Moths Reflect Environmental Impacts of Industry
by Nicholas Sauer
I began to think in earnest about industrial melanism while working at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History in 2018 when the We Are Nature exhibit was on display as part of the museum’s intensive focus on the Anthropocene. There was an unassuming corner of the exhibit devoted to the fate of the peppered moth (Biston betularia) during the Industrial Revolution. Dark-colored—melanistic—peppered moths were rare in England and Germany until the Industrial Revolution and the inevitable increase of air pollution from the burning of fossil fuels. With the rise of heavy industry, pale peppered moths began to stick out like bright specks on soot-covered vegetation. These pale moths were easy targets for hungry birds. The coal-choked environment favored the moth populations that possessed a gene for darker coloration, providing an example of natural selection at work. In recent years, scientists have located the specific gene that accounts for the darker moths and can trace the changing selection on color variation in peppered moths back to at least 1819 when the burning of coal for industrial purposes began to pick up steam in the British Isles.
In 1896, English entomologist J.W. Tutt theorized that his nation’s industrial conditions profoundly affected local moth populations. He argued that lichen on trees provided camouflage for the salt-and-pepper-colored moths. According to Tutt, industrial pollution killed off the lichen and, in turn, the pollution—soot and ash—camouflaged the darker moths, particularly the dark form of Biston betularia, f. carbonaria. It was not until the 1950s that Tutt’s theory was tested. Through a series of experiments, lepidopterist Bernard Kettlewell demonstrated that when both light and dark peppered moths (f. typica and carbonaria respectively) were released in industrially-contaminated woodlands in Birmingham and Dorset, England, birds fed on the most “conspicuous” form, f. typica, the pale moths. Kettlewell’s experiment would wind up in science textbooks for decades to come as a demonstration of natural selection.

"[1931] Peppered Moth (Biston betularia) f.carbonaria" by Bennyboymothman is licensed under CC BY 2.0
In the wake of Kettlewell’s findings, similar experiments were conducted in the United States, even in the Pittsburgh area. The scientist leading the melanism study in the Eastern United States in the 1950s, Denis Frank Owen (1931-1996), pored over the moth collections right here at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History as well as those of several other natural history museums in the Northeast and Midwest. A transplant from England at the beginning of his long career as an ecologist, Owen sought to test whether or not Kettlewell's results would be reflected in his own data on the American side of the Atlantic. Owen’s own findings were very much like Kettlewell’s. This, of course, was unsurprising in the case of Pittsburgh considering the massive amount of pollutants that were emitted by the city’s steel mills. To get a good idea of how polluted the city was at that time, check out the two soot-stained squares that remain on the mural The Crowning of Labor on the second and third floors of CMNH’s Grand Staircase.
Owen discovered that Pittsburgh had some of the earliest records of industrial melanism in the Northeast—melanistic forms of Epimecis hortaria (or, the Tulip Tree Beauty) dating from 1922 and Biston cognataria dating from 1910. Owen posited in his research that the number of melanistic moths were increasing in the late 1950s and early 1960s, particularly in environs surrounding industrial cities like Detroit and Pittsburgh, even as far as outlying rural areas. At Westmoreland County’s Powdermill Nature Reserve, all eight of the peppered moths observed in a 1957 study were melanistic, according to Owen.
Unfortunately, records of industrial melanism were never kept as meticulously in the U.S. as they were in the U.K., so our understanding of how widespread the phenomenon was States-side is incomplete. However, since the 1970s, much more data has been collected on peppered moths in the U.S. than before. This data has reflected the implementation of clean air regulations and tracked the overall decline in the ratio of melanistic peppered moths in favor of the pale form, supporting the theory that these moth populations, either Biston betularia (f. typica or carbonaria) or their cousins, are subject to natural selection that is weighted by pollution. Biologist Bruce S. Grant has suggested that more recent data from the post-industrial era be put to greater educational use—not to supplant Kettlewell’s famous experiment, but to supplement it with more up-to-date scientific findings.
Regrettably, even in the “Post-Industrial” era following the birth of the Environmental Protection Agency (1970) and the Clean Air Act (1972), peppered moths are subject to human-exacerbated environmental threats. In the 1980s, when scientists sought an explanation for the continued presence of melanistic moths in rural eastern Pennsylvania, they instead discovered two major dangers to peppered moths and their habitat. First, so-called gypsy moths (Lymantria dispar dispar)—an invasive species introduced to the U.S. by humans in the 19th century—were rapidly defoliating the woodlands that the peppered moths called home. Secondly, the Pennsylvania Department of Forestry was spraying the area with the pesticides Dylox and Dimilin to combat Lymantria dispar and may have adversely affected the peppered moths in the process.
This example of the twin dangers of invasive species and pesticide use, in addition to the earlier instances of industrial pollution, demonstrate human beings’ profound effect on the natural world during the Anthropocene. The travails of the peppered moth are key to understanding the influence humans have on the ecosystems around them, so far as becoming even a variable in the way natural selection operates. The Pittsburgh area and the scientific collections at CMNH have played an important part in the study of industrial melanism in peppered moths and will continue to do so as the natural world responds in its way to human influence. The decline in melanistic moth numbers that correlates with cleaner air and more conscientious environmental regulations provides hope that that human influence is not uniformly negative.
Nicholas Sauer is a Gallery Experience Presenter in CMNH’s Life Long Learning Department. Museum staff, volunteers, and interns are encouraged to blog about their unique experiences and knowledge gained from working at the museum.

I have a question about torture and organizations. Can a political movement (rebellion in this case) with a history of using torture succeed in eliminating its use of torture? In my story a member of the rebellion learns that some others (on the leader's orders?) have been torturing people. Appalled, this person decides to split off and form a rival faction, bringing with them other rebels who disapprove of torture... (organizations ask 1/3)
Is it likely that this faction would be able to succeed (replace the original faction and continue not torturing people)? How likely is this? What factors would impact the likelihood? Mostly I'm focusing on the contrast between one organization torturing and the other not torturing, e.g., I can see how locals might be skeptical of the second organization because they're on the same "side" as the torturers. (organizations ask 2/3 -- I think I might've accidentally numbered the first one 2/3, aah)  The organization uses torture for mainly punishment (which might include trying to get people to make false confessions) and intimidation (as well as in some cases in attempts to force compliance, like making people supply them with food and materials or making people give them information; this last is the rarest... oops, I just realized that's all of the purposes in the UN definition). (I have read a lot of your posts and I know torture doesn't work.) Thank you!! :) (organizations ask 3/3)

Anon you are delightful.
 Rejali spends an awful lot of time discussing the various arguments on whether torture can be eradicated and how that could be practically done. There aren’t a lot of definite answers but I can give a summary of the kinds of factors that we think are important and describe things your characters could practically do.
 I think it’s worth stressing from the start that no country has completely eradicated torture. As a result we don’t know for certain what… works. Or at least not what works completely and permanently.
 I don’t think this means getting rid of torture is impossible. Neither does Rejali. Rejali argues (convincingly in my opinion) that torture has changed so drastically in the modern era because of concerted efforts to wipe it out. Part of that change has been an almost complete eradication of some torture techniques. As a general rule people are no longer broken on the wheel, hanged drawn and quartered or have their flesh torn off with red hot pincers. We have already completely transformed both torture and public attitudes to it.
 And that implies that we can get it rid of it.
 It’s likely that torture is less common now then it was historically but this is hard to prove. Most historical records don’t provide a clear indication of every single person who was questioned, arrested or tried, let alone who was tortured or how.
 It’s also hard to prove exactly how much a particular factor reduces torture. The fact torture is illegal and that victims may not report what happened to them make it difficult to measure how often it occurs. We rely on estimates based on the reporting we have, which is likely to give a lower figure then the real number of cases. (Because we know from more thorough studies on other crimes that there is always a proportion that goes unreported and it is likely this proportion will be higher when the victim could face repercussions for reporting the crime. As is often the case with torture.)
 So what seems to help? I’ll start by talking about the factors we’re aware of that can reduce torture and then I’ll try to talk about how you might be able to apply them to the revolutionary organisation in your story.
 It might sound obvious but making torture illegal is usually a necessary first step.
 A change in the law in and of itself does not really do much. Especially not overnight. It’s about beginning to build a framework where reporting can happen and where people are actively looking for evidence of torture.
 The next steps are well building up that framework. Independent oversight is one of the biggest things.
 Here are a couple of things that can mean:
Anonymous reporting
Independent inspections
Regular unscheduled inspections
Independent medical reports and autopsies
Treating reports of torture seriously
Thorough investigation of all reports
Prosecution of torturers where there is sufficient evidence
Sentencing that fits the gravity of the crime*
Suspension of individuals accused of torture
 I tend to think of those factors as things that are sort of outside the organisation. Because ideally they’re coming from outside the organisation.
 Note that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re outside the system entirely. Using a comparison if you’re trying to stop police torture then the people handling reports, investigations etc could still be government employees but they should not be police. When the people in charge of torture investigations rely on the people they’re investigating for their jobs and wages… you get problems.
 There are also important factors within the organisation. Which are about building an organisation where torture is less likely to occur (whereas the factors outside the organisation are about rooting it out when it’s found.)
 A lot of these things basically boil down to building a positive working environment:
High quality training for all personnel
Regular refresher training with updates to training as appropriate
Appropriate staffing levels (ie there should always be enough people to easily run the organisation)
No one is forced to work overtime
Generous holiday allowance and sick pay
Consistent effort to structure and manage things to reduce stress in the workplace
Reasonable, achievable goals for staff
Appropriate, well supplied facilities
Thorough record keeping for staff and anyone they are responsible for
Avoidance of shifts that disrupt sleep as much as possible
 Torture is much, much less likely when staff are correctly trained, supported and given the resources necessary to do their jobs.
 There are also a handful of things that would probably help and fall into neither category such as limiting (or eliminating) access to devices commonly used to torture. For instance Tasers, pepper spray, particular forms of restraints but also (depending on where in the world we are) chilli powder, hose pipes and cleaning supplies.
 This might seem like quite a lot but it’s funny how much of it applies to the industry I actually work in: drugs testing.
 The place I work is regularly inspected by outside organisations (and usually without notice). Every single person on site has to go through extensive training programs which are refreshed at least once a year. Each and every one of us has to record and account for all our actions and any material and equipment we use. We can report things anonymously. Any allegations of malpractice are dealt with swiftly and prompt massive investigations.
 So I guess I’m saying that I think more of the organisations responsible for people should have the same level of accountability pharmaceutical testing does.
 Depending on the structure of your rebel organisation and what’s available too them a lot of this might not be possible. At least not at first.
 A small, poorly supplied organisation could struggle to combat torture effectively. But where there’s a will there’s a way.
 Size of the group seems to be a big thing here. With really small groups the members can often say pretty confidently whether torture is happening or not. Because they’re all working together so closely that they know more or less everything their colleagues are doing. But the bigger a group becomes the easier it is to lose track of people and for abuse to be hidden.
 My instinct is that genuinely independent oversight probably becomes easier after organisations reach a certain size. Because for a smaller (but not tiny) group anyone who might be investigating accusations could still be reliant on the people they’re investigating. They’re likely to work together, be close to each other and as a result they’re bringing a bias into any investigation.
 I think a smaller, newly founded organisation would really struggle to set up the kind of structured, independent inspection bodies that do most of the grunt work of finding and reporting on torture. Especially early on when they’ve just split off from the older, more established group.
 That’s partly because of numbers and partly because it takes time and expertise to set up these systems. Or at least to do it well. Going back to the comparison with my work, the organisations that inspect and audit my workplace have all been around for decades. Most of the ‘younger’ organisations are mergers or rebrands of much older organisations. The process is updated at least once a year and there is a labyrinth of laws around every single aspect of… well all of it.
 It takes a lot of time, energy and error to build that up in a robust way.
 But that doesn’t mean there’s nothing they can do.
 They might not be able to detect or investigate torture easily in the early stages but they could structure their organisation in ways that make it less likely for torture to happen in the first place.
 Proper training is probably the biggest one that would make a difference. Things like conducting a proper investigation or interrogation, de-escalation tactics, building rapport/people skills and negotiation.
 They could also limit the number of prisoners they hold and the length of time prisoners are held for. This is trickier to do ethically in a combat situation. If part of the point is that this group is more ethical they shouldn’t be maiming or summarily executing surrendering troops from the opposing side. They also shouldn’t be releasing prisoners in places they’re likely to die.
 One potential way around this is to focus on destroying equipment and facilities rather then ending lives. Taking weapons, destroying barracks, supply lines and the like.
 Captured enemy troops can potentially give out valuable information (you can read about effective interrogation here) but the majority of useful information doesn’t come from interrogating suspects/enemy troops in these scenarios. It comes from people volunteering information, whether they’re civilians or defectors.
 It might sound really obvious but a very easy way to avoid torture as an issue to not have anyone to torture. A policy of no prisoners, not in the sense of killing everyone but in the sense of immediate release after the goal has been achieved, reduces the amount of people held and hence the chance of torture.
 This sort of strategy in the beginning could give the organisation time to come up with the facilities, training program and inspection regime needed to keep prisoners in… as safe and ethical a way as possible. It would mean adopting a strategy of ambush style attacks on the facilities and supply lines of he opposing side/s.
 It would also help avoid overcrowding of any prison facilities which is a factor that leads to more violence in prisons.
 I think that just leaves the question of long term success which you’ve defined in terms of avoiding torture and eventually replacing the rebel group that tortures.
 That isn’t a question I can give a definitive ‘yes or no’ answer to. It depends on a lot of factors, as you can probably see from the lists above.
 My instinct is that it is possible. However it would take time. A lot of time. And it would mean keeping up that dedication, the rejection of torture, throughout.
 Supplanting an existing organisation would take years. Easily 5-10 years, and I think I might actually be under estimating things. It also depends on things like how well known both rebel groups are, how well they manage to build up public trust, the supply of recruits, the amount of territory they occupy.
 Part of what I’m driving at here is that doing things well, building systems and organisations that last and keep ethics at their core; it takes time. It takes hard work. And a lot of it feels thankless.
 In the early days your rebels will probably be bending over backwards, making life so much ‘harder’ for themselves in order to avoid torture. Only to have civilians turn around and mistake them for the group that tortures.
 The sad fact is that a lot of people feel destruction is more satisfying. It feels like ‘doing something’, whereas the hard work of building a better system over years/decades… it often feels like you’re getting nowhere. I think that, along with the cultural message that violence ‘works’, is why a lot of these abuses continue to happen.
 Once again I think that what you want from this story is possible. But it isn’t simple, it isn’t easy. It’s playing the long game. And there will be times when that grinds the characters down.
 A lot of stories say that ‘doing the right thing isn’t easy’ and then proceed to show the characters doing some big, impressive act that instantly solves everything. This is a fallacy. Sometimes it’s a fallacy that leads to some great stories! But it’s still a fictional motif that romanticises acts of violence over the hard work of building something better.
 And I think that if you want to show that hard work in your story you can’t gloss over the fact that it’s hard. It’s exhausting, it can be isolating. It can all be wiped away at any moment because of one hot-headed idiot.
 But the hard work and dedication would eventually pay off.
 These rebels would end up with better intelligence networks, better ties to the local communities and a better reputation. Which would probably lead to them becoming the go-to group for defectors, both from the other rebels and the group they’re trying to fight. They’d also probably get more volunteers in the long term.
 Wrapping up I think I’ll end with a note from Kurlansky’s Nonviolence: The History of a Dangerous Idea: Long term victory generally goes to the group that is the most organised. Focus on that. Really think about inventive ways to set up the systems and organisations these rebels are trying to build.
 Follow those points through logically.
 Your group might not end up looking like any rebel group you’ve seen in media before. But it’ll probably look closer to a lot of real organisations and give you a lot of fodder for stories.
 I hope that helps :)

*Obviously there will always be debate about what this means but I personally do not think most places treat torture as a grave crime. As an illustration of what I mean American torturer Jon Burge is thought to have tortured at least 200 people during his time as a police officer. Several of the people Burge tortured ended up on death row. Thirty years after the initial reports he was sentenced to four and a half years in prison. He served three and a half.

Okay, what are your thoughts on Ian's relationships? With his family, his boyfriends, and Mandy (since I think that's the only friend he's had)
Oh, no. Ohhhhhhhh, no. Now you’ve done it. You’ve asked about my dear, darling favorite character on the show. My love for one Ian Gallagher runs deep, which means this answer is going to run super long. The good, the bad, and everything in between—Ian Gallagher lives rent free in my brain and always will. I derive so much satisfaction from seeing Ian interact with other people, in whatever capacity that might be. I admire and aspire to the compassion he has shown for others over the years, even and perhaps most especially those who arguably haven’t earned it. He tries so hard to be good to people, and seeing their love for him manifest when he’s reached such lows where he can’t even fathom why the love of his life would want to be with him forever? That’s powerful.
So, yeah. I said I could write essays on these characters, and that’s exactly what you’re about to get: five hours and 6k words’ worth of my thoughts. (I am so sorry. There will be text walls.)
Let’s dive into Ian’s many and multifaceted relationships—his family, his friends, and his romantic pursuits.
Ian and Family
Ian told us where he stood on this in the very first season, and it set the standard for his character for eleven years to come. Faced with a prospect that others in his position could only dream of—not being Frank’s son and having a wealthy father with a functional, prosperous lifestyle mere miles away—Ian refused to buy into it. He refused to do what might have been objectively better for his future by seeking a relationship with Clayton. In that household, he would have had access to a better public school, more financial resources, a tutor to help him where he was struggling, and less urgency for him to work so that he could enjoy being a kid. When he got sick, he would have had access to better healthcare, too. Perhaps he would have had a better shot at West Point from that background than he did at home. But that’s just it: home was with his family, and he was very clear that they didn’t live in that nice house. All he wanted—all he wanted—was to be with his brothers and sisters. He has never referred to them as only half-siblings or half-cousins; he has never even used the words, “you’re not my dad,” on Frank. That’s his family, the people he loves most in the world, and he’s always been at his best when he’s with them and at his worst when he’s not. Let’s look at each of them:
1.      Frank: It is so striking to me that Ian doesn’t appear to hold the outright contempt for Frank that Fiona, Lip, and Debbie have exhibited at different points over the years. Aside from the handful of instances where they’ve gotten into physical altercations (which Frank always initiated) and kicking him out of the house on occasion, Ian is simply indifferent to him. But there are these moments, these brief glimmers of mutual attachment and loyalty, if those are the right words. In the scene where Ian famously doesn’t count to three before using the pepper spray on him, Frank starts saying how his New Gallaghers weren’t his real kids—that Ian is his real son, and Frank is his real father. It’s a passing thought uttered while trying to manipulate his way into the house that neither of them think much of, nor does the audience…until you remember that biologically, Frank isn’t his father, and he certainly hasn’t behaved like one either. Ian has more right than anyone to comment on that, but he doesn’t because Frank is his father. He’s the father that Ian idly hoped wouldn’t come to his wedding yet sat joking about with Debbie rather than getting pissed off that he was making out with some lady in front of everyone. He’s the father who sat at the table with them eating breakfast in 11x03 and claimed Mickey was the man in their relationship without Ian saying a word to him about it, and who Ian saw no issue with taking Franny to school when no one else could. In s4, as far removed from his family as he’d been for a while, Ian still went straight to the hospital when he heard that Frank was at death’s door. We focus so much on his attitude towards Monica because of how obvious it was that we frequently miss these tiny moments and their implications. It would take an awful lot of patience, compassion, and love not to write Frank off completely after all he’s done. Not necessarily our standard definition of love between a son and his father, perhaps, but a loving soul.
2.      Monica: I have actually written a pretty lengthy post about his relationship with her because while their shared mental illness definitely plays a role in his feelings toward her, that grew complicated far earlier than his diagnosis. The first time we meet her, we see that he has a visceral reaction to news of her presence. He runs. When Ian can’t process strong emotions, that’s what he’s done in the past. I happened upon an interview Cameron did just after the end of s1 where he mentioned something I had already been thinking: Ian’s age when Monica left is extremely important. He was a kid in s1, but one who could roll with the punches, sometimes literally. She left them two years before that. Ian would have been in middle school, roughly as old as Debbie was when she still called Frank “daddy” and forgave him for everything he did. It’s an awkward age that once again set Ian in something of a danger zone—too old to accept an excuse or no explanation at all, but not old enough to process the situation in a healthy way. And then she’s back all of a sudden with no warning. Ian doesn’t cry like Debbie, and he doesn’t typically get explosively angry like Fiona. He can’t deal, so he runs. He hangs back. He only speaks when he has to and compartmentalizes: Monica wants to take Liam, and they need to stop her. It doesn’t have to be about her leaving. They have a goal—he can focus on that. And then she’s back a year later, saying she’s here to stay while Fiona seems to take her at her word and Lip isn’t there to ground everyone. Ian tries so hard to behave like Lip would with his biting sarcasm and attempts to stay emotionally distant in a way that seemed pretty exaggerated for Ian, but he’s also dealing with a fresh wave of guilt over Mickey going to juvie—and Monica gets it. She’s the only person to acknowledge that he’s in pain and actively try to make it better. She’s the only one who really knows at the time, but that hardly matters. This poor kid, whose mother left him when he still needed her, has her standing in front of him and saying she’s sorry and listening when he speaks and taking him dancing—just the two of them. Embarrassing as it was and harmful as it could have been, she tried to facilitate his dreams when no one else wanted him to go into the military. She was there for him when he went AWOL. She came for him when he was arrested and even wanted to make a place for him in her new life, unrealistic as it was. This goes so much deeper than them both being bipolar. Ian’s comment about her parachuting into their lives in s7 wasn’t about Mickey or her role in them breaking up. He trusted her. He wanted her. He needed her. And she’d convinced him that she would be there—until she left. Over and over again. She was there for him and unintentionally took advantage of how desperately he still needed his mother. She made him keep loving her, and that’s both a blessing that has him crying into a voluminous man’s arms when she passes and a curse that wrecked him more than once.
3.      Fiona: The trust these two have for each other cannot be understated. Fiona has discussed things with Ian that she never brought up around any of the other kids throughout the entire series. In the pilot episode, she tells him about feeling needed and takes his opinion on the matter to heart. At the end of the season, he’s the one she talks to about the car because she can trust him to give her an answer even without speaking. In s2, she tells Lip that the two of them are her rocks, and we see that time and time again. That’s part of what makes their falling out over the church hit that much harder: it’s Ian and Fiona. The only time they’d been on the outs in any serious manner up to that point was when Ian was adjusting to his new reality and they were trying to find a balance between sister and caretaker. Otherwise, that bond of trust had never been severed—not until Ian literally sold himself only for it to amount to nothing in the end because she had no idea the lengths to which he’d gone to get that building. That damage gets mended, thankfully, but what a powerful period of time when those two were the only ones who’d never really been at each other’s throats. There is a downside to that trust, though. As I mentioned before, Ian was so responsible and put together when he was younger that Fiona didn’t think twice about his situation with Ned or that he ran away. Not even seventeen yet, and she was telling Debbie that she didn’t like his decision to leave but trusted him. That is one of the things I love about this show—even something like trust that we always prop up as an important factor in our relationships can betray us in the most unexpected ways.
4.      Lip: I won’t go into it here, but the relationship they share is something that means a lot to me on a personal level. It’s part of how I knew that Ian would become my favorite character pretty early on. The way he simultaneously admires and envies Lip, loves and is annoyed by him, relies on him and is desperate to pave his own path in the world—what a beautiful and accurate depiction of what it means to be a younger sibling. Lip is the first person to discover that he’s gay and openly accept him for it. (I think what he tried with Karen came from a well-meaning place even if it was horribly, horribly misguided.) Lip is the one who tries to get him into West Point, hate it as he does. He helps Ian when Terry is after him, takes care of him in the aftermath of the wedding when he realizes just how deeply Ian feels for Mickey, searches the whole damn city for him when he finds out that Ian is in trouble, gets him a job, leans on him in his own time of need… He’s not perfect. He slips up, just like Ian does. Some things break my heart, like Lip insisting that he’s earned his own space when his little brother is asking him for safe harbor or Ian thanking him for being his brother outside the prison. But they love each other so much, and I just… I can’t possibly put into words how much I love their dynamic.
5.      Debbie, Carl, and Liam: I’m grouping these three together because they’re further separated from Ian in age, so we see a lot of the same trends with them as a whole. Ian loves taking care of people. We know this. We also know that Fiona and Lip don’t typically want him taking care of them—they’re the ones who take care of him when he needs it, specifically Lip. With the younger three, however, Ian can be the Big Brother. He can shake his head in utter bafflement at Debbie’s obsession with holding her breath for two minutes, walk Carl through what he needs to go camping, and promise his baby brother postcards when he leaves. The difference here is that his relationship with them is so much less fraught with conflict. We don’t see him fight with Debbie, Carl, or Liam the way he has with Fiona or Lip. While Ian tends to be the voice of reason during conflicts overall, I think it’s also because he relies on his older siblings in a way that he doesn’t with his younger siblings, and the latter don’t tend to rely on him as much as Fiona or Lip as well. There’s a lack of tension in most of their interactions growing up because that pressure isn’t there. Perhaps this is where Ian’s age and standing in the family is a bit more beneficial: young enough to have people he can rely on while too young for anyone to really rely on him for more than his share of the squirrel fund.
Ian and Friends
I’ve seen it mentioned that Ian (and Mickey) not having more friends is bad or lazy writing. I tend to believe that that fails to take something into account that, admittedly, most of us don’t really have to think about: having friends is a luxury. It requires time and effort to cultivate friendships, especially lasting ones. As a kid, Ian spent a lot of his free time working or helping to manage one family crisis after another. Going AWOL, losing his health, struggling to acclimate to his illness, trying to find a new career path, spiraling into the Gay Jesus movement, going to prison, adjusting once again to normal life, getting married, a pandemic… I’m sure he’s had plenty of acquaintances over the years, but having a family to support and constant upheavals would have made it extremely difficult to really forge strong relationships with them. I think that’s part of what makes his relationship with Mandy so special and valuable to him: she’s sort of the same way.
When we met Mandy in s1, she had other friends. We saw her meet up with them and go shopping; she told Ian a story about how one was mad at her for not sharing her make-up. As the trauma in the Milkovich household reached its zenith for her in s2 and she started thinking seriously about getting out of there, we saw those friends fall by the wayside—all except Ian. He saw her and let her see him early on. That’s a level of trust and respect that nobody else in their neighborhood would have displayed, certainly not to her. But then there’s this guy who defended her against their creepy, perverted teacher and treated her like a human being, not an object. It’s no wonder she developed an obvious, unrequited crush and sought physical comfort from him occasionally. It’s no wonder she tried to repay the favor by giving Mickey a hard time in s3 and s4, misguided and rather uninformed as we know it was at the time. (It’s also no wonder that she went for the closest Gallagher to Ian, either, but that’s for another meta.)
And Ian… Ian is loyal to a fault. We have watched Ian cut out his own heart and let the blood drip down his arm to pool on the floor at his feet if it would make a damn bit of difference for the people he loves. Like Fiona and Lip, Mandy immediately accepted him for who he is and suggested an arrangement that would protect him as well as benefit her. That is enormous where they came from. To him, that had to feel like the ultimate sign of friendship: he could trust her with a part of him that he hadn’t even entrusted to most of his family yet. From that point on, she was on the List of People Ian Gallagher Would Do Anything For. Finding out about Terry and what had happened? He held a bake sale, of all things, to fundraise for her. Seeing that his brother—his best friend—was treating her like garbage? He put him in his place. Her boyfriend was beating her? He brought her home and made it his goal to find a safe place for her to stay, even if it ultimately didn’t work. She was going to move away from all of her meager support with that boyfriend? He didn’t just rally his own arguments—he brought in outside help with Lip, who he thought might tip the scales. It’s usually just a saying that true friends will help each other hide a body, but Ian literally tried to do that. Lucky for him, he has a good head on his shoulders and used it.
No, Ian doesn’t seem to have a lot of friends. We’ve seen that he has spheres of influence, if you will, and acquaintances that he can call upon when he needs them. (For example, the guys that helped with the preacher.) However, Ian has always struck me as a “quality over quantity” type of person. Being a soldier or an EMT isn’t lucrative, but they’re meaningful for someone who sees them as vehicles for helping people. Seeing more parts of the world than just Chicago has appealed to him in the past, but he seems perfectly content to carve out a spot for himself right here at home. Having only three best friends—Lip, Mandy, and Mickey—doesn’t seem like much of a hardship for him.
Ian and Romantic Pursuits
I hate to say that there were five, but from Ian’s perspective, there were. So, let’s talk about all five. Even though…there weren’t five. There was only one. We’ll save the best for last.
1.      Kash: The first of Ian’s perceived romantic pursuits that really wasn’t. I hope it goes without saying that I hate this man with the passion of a thousand burning suns. I hate him so much. However, their interactions taught me a whole lot about how kind and compassionate Ian really is—and how naïve. Of course, he would believe that Kash loved him. The man was buying him all sorts of expensive gifts, and that’s what we see on all the commercials and in so many movies, isn’t it? Grand gestures of affection through expensive gifts. Poor as they were, Ian still scraped together the money to buy him baseball tickets and CDs, convinced as he was that that was all part of what you did in a relationship. That desire to do things like a “normal” married couple in s11? Yeah, that starts here. Ian has always been a planner, and he’s always bought into certain stereotypes. We can see that here. What we can also see is Ian’s compassionate, kind, loving soul. He cares so deeply for other people, even ones that he doesn’t know very well, especially if they are living in circumstances that mean something to him. (For example, the mentally ill woman they tried to help at work and the shelter kids whose situations were so similar to Mickey’s.) Kash being a closeted gay man living in misery with a wife he didn’t love and two children he never meant to have clearly tugged at Ian’s heartstrings. Even after everything that happens, even though Ian behaves as though they’re awkward exes who just happen to work together, he still covers for Kash. He gives him that head start and takes it upon himself to break the news to Linda that he’s gone. He defends Kash to Lip when the latter finally says exactly what we all know: he was a pedophile who deserved to rot in prison for what he did. As with Fiona’s trust, Ian’s loving soul, compassionate heart, and desire for love outside his siblings are virtues that have done him harm in the past. This is one such instance.
2.      Ned: The second of Ian’s perceived romantic pursuits that really wasn’t. To be honest, I don’t believe that Ian would even characterize it that way. He seemed very aware that Ned was a distraction from his problems—from Mickey being in juvie, Monica falling into a depressive episode, the money in the squirrel fund being gone, Lip moving out, losing his shot at West Point, and getting denied for service due to his age. Again, though, Ian has always wanted to feel valued, and this rich dude was letting him stay in a fancy hotel room with anything he wanted readily available. This (disgusting predator) guy was giving him attention and a distraction with no strings attached. Then the complications roll in, and he’s once again faced with being the mistress to a closeted, married man. The difference here is that he’s not comfortable with it. He tries to tell Fiona twice, which is enormous for Ian when he has never been very good at communicating if it means burdening others with or even merely facing his own problems. But he tries to tell her. He rejects the GPS unit and tells Ned that he has a boyfriend, boxing him into a strictly sexual arrangement. (This, unfortunately, makes sense. It aligns with how Fiona viewed things: where Jimmy was concerned about it, she told him that it was “just sex.”) He is also visibly embarrassed to admit to Lip and Fiona what has been going on with Ned. By that point, Ian is a year and a half older and, while still scarred and warped in his views because of Kash, perhaps a bit wiser. Emotionally, he kept Ned at arm’s length most of the time. He used Ned not just as a distraction, but as a way to galvanize Mickey into taking their relationship a step forward. But Ian is still Ian, and Ian is compassionate to a fault. Ned played that card by asking if he could have a little understanding for a man whose life was falling apart. Sure, he can. He’s Ian, the Gallagher too empathetic for his own good at times. We know how that spirals out of control. It just goes to show that even when Ian was trying to maintain some emotional distance, his heart is simply too big and his perceptions too heavily impacted by the grooming he’d experienced with two different people by then, and so he [SPOILER ALERT] still feels enough of a connection to Ned after all these years to be mildly bothered that he passed away.
3.      Caleb: The third of Ian’s perceived romantic pursuits that really wasn’t. Ian’s relationship with Caleb strikes me as being similar to what he had with Ned. While more age-appropriate, Ian was very much using Caleb, just as Caleb was using him. That’s why it was so easy for both of them to walk away. Ian was in a difficult spot when they met. He was grateful to the firefighters who saved his life, but he had also just saved someone else at a moment when he was perhaps at his absolute lowest. That’s what he’s always wanted, isn’t it—to be a bit of a hero and help people? So, he’s understandably drawn there, first out of gratitude and then to be surrounded by very attractive gay firemen who helped people, saved his life, and invited him to be part of a function they were holding. But he made himself pretty clear from the start: he was interested in sex with Caleb. That was the draw. He still hasn’t come to terms with being bipolar and losing Mickey, but Ian has never not been with anyone for any extended length of time. That’s just who he is: he’s always sought some level of outward validation—from the army, Kash, Monica, Mickey, and so many others. We’re seeing him struggle with that now as he deals with the opportunities available to him as a mentally ill ex-con felon. So, he pursues Caleb as a distraction just like he did with Ned, only Caleb is a predator in his own right and can smell that his interest is coming from a place of weakness. He immediately (and initially unintentionally) preys on Ian’s desperate need for structure and order by insisting on a traditional date where Ian is very much out of his element and even goes so far as to instruct Ian on how to be intimate. It’s no wonder he mentions Mickey in these moments, as Mickey never wanted him to change, and Ian leans heavily (even slightly hyperbolically) into the fact that Mickey wasn’t a paragon of order and stability like Caleb outwardly appears.
And I think why Ian puts up with it so long—being taught like a child, being used to upset Caleb’s parents, being paraded in front of his friends to make them jealous—is because he was getting something out of it too, just like with Ned. A stable place to live when their home ownership was in flux, a place away from his family when they weren’t providing the support he needed as he adjusted to his disorder, someone who validated his desires to help people regardless of their ulterior motives, and a physical distraction from his own problems. All of these parallel his relationship with Ned very closely. It was never going to last, of course. Ian is a strong person who temporarily forgot how strong he was because he forgot who he was, and Caleb didn’t want to be cared for—he wanted a project, like all of his sculptures. Being a project, being something that others see as needing to be fixed? That’s a hard no for Ian. It always has been. There’s a moment I love later in their relationship where Caleb tells him to turn off the lights when he goes out and lightly reprimands him for leaving one on the day prior. Ian is in a better place at that point, having regained a lot of his sense of self, and stares after him with indignation at being treated like a kid. He’s then lied to and cheated on, but I think that to mention those things to Caleb when they break up is to admit weakness on his own part—that he stuck with Caleb knowing that he was being mistreated, and Ian is not one to be called a victim. So, while we know from his discussions with Lip and Sue that the cheating and distrust bothered him most, he merely focused on Caleb lying about his sexuality, which removed a lot of the emotion from the situation—just like he did with Ned. It ultimately turned out to be a bad move since Caleb, being a skilled predator, made him question even his own sexuality in return, but we’re starting to see that Ian isn’t here to be someone’s toy anymore. Not an older, married man like Ned, but definitely not anyone his age either. I’m glad this pseudo-relationship happened because it showed Ian how strong he really was and that he could be in control of his own life. Sure, it destabilized him a little in the aftermath, but he worked through it. He leaned on his family, specifically Lip, who has always been his rock without the blurred lines that Fiona represented between sister/mother-figure/caretaker. Caleb is a garbage person, but Ian was the one who pulled the treasure from the trash, not him.
4.      Trevor: The fourth of Ian’s perceived romantic pursuits that really wasn’t. Trevor is perhaps the first relationship where we don’t see Ian dive in. Whether that’s because of his confusion over Trevor’s gender identity or the fact that he was really beginning to fully mature as an adult by that point (ostensibly finishing his education, getting a career, being fully self-sufficient, etc.), he tried to take his time and not jump right in. They hung out, talked around the neighborhood, and yes, engaged in some casual intimacy at the club. Again, Ian might not be in a full relationship, but he’s never without someone for long. At that point in the series, all he was missing was a relationship when it comes to traditional, “normal” goals for people to have. But Trevor posed a situation he’s never been in before since, while gay himself, Ian has never been very interested in activism or engaging in the LGBT community. It’s just not in his culture or environment, so to be faced with someone he’s interested in that challenges a lot of his views of gender and sexuality is something he takes his time with. Unfortunately, Trevor is younger than him and not quite as mature, not quite as experienced. He tells Ian he has plenty of friends and doesn’t need another, which is an ultimatum that has never really sat very well with me personally because I’m generally of the mind that if a person needs time and you really care for them, you’ll let them have that time. I’m not unsympathetic to Trevor: he’s been burned before and has his own trauma stemming from responses to his identity, so it makes complete sense for him not to be patient in this regard. He shouldn’t have to be—but then, Ian shouldn’t have to rush into anything he’s not 100% certain he wants either. That’s exactly what he does, though, because Ian does for others without thinking of the implications for himself a lot of the time. They make great friends, but they don’t make great partners. Trevor treats Ian similarly to Caleb in that he’s a bit of a project. Trevor educates him on the LGBT community and incorporates him into his ventures for the shelter without ever really showing much interest in Ian’s life or family, which suits Ian just fine because for as interested as he is in helping with the shelter and as attracted to Trevor as he is, he seems to know they’re not compatible. Ian, who has been having sex since he was far too young, takes a step back from it when they run into compatibility issues. (And pushes back on the pressure to bottom with some of his own—neither of them were in the right on that.) He doesn’t ask much about Trevor’s family or try to be part of his personal life. They sort of embody the “friends with benefits” stereotype: they hang out, they have sex, and that’s really all there is to their relationship.
The reason Ian doubles down on trying to make it work isn’t because there was a future for them before Mickey broke out. It’s because he thinks he’s lost Mickey forever, he knows he’s lost Monica forever, and he’s not going to get the support he needs from his family when they couldn’t stand Monica and Fiona told him what he already knew to be true, namely that Mickey being an escaped convict would destroy everything Ian worked so hard for if he got involved. So, he does what Ian does. He needs that distraction—he needs to run from these strong emotions he can’t process, so he bottles them up and unfairly hopes that Trevor will provide some of that comfort after cheating on him with Mickey. (Had Mickey been released, I think they would have broken up. Instead, that was the first match Ian lit, but certainly not the last.) Now, the thing is, Trevor said at the start that he didn’t want to be Ian’s friend. He’s also younger and less mature in a relationship, which means he threw the concept of love out there prematurely, just like Ian thought what he had with Kash was love. The death throes of their relationship were a back and forth where Ian was spiraling and seeking comfort, and Trevor was providing some while keeping their relationship pretty amorphous. (Were they exes? Were they friends? Were they people who shared interests and danced around each other? Were they going to get back together? They never officially broke up—it fizzled and resurged, then fizzled for good.) Ultimately, whatever it was that they had couldn’t survive Mickey, Monica, or Gay Jesus. Trevor wasn’t prepared to deal with a full-blown manic episode, and based on his hands-off approach with involving himself in Ian’s life even before the Mickey-shaped bomb got dropped on them, it doesn’t seem like he really wanted to anyway. He did what he’s always done: prioritized his shelter, which I’m not deriding in the slightest. By that point, Ian was too far gone to care that he disappeared anyway. Had the situation been different and he was getting the support from his family that he needed, it doesn’t seem like he would have cared much there either.
5.      Mickey: Finally. Only took over five thousand words to get here. I’ll preface this with something that anyone who knows me from other fandoms is already well aware of, namely that I don’t do romance. Ever. Never been interested. The relationships I’ve always been most passionately interested in are platonic ones, especially “found families” and siblings, which is probably obvious from the other five thousand words here. Ian and Mickey are the first relationship I’ve actively shipped or written for in a fandom. They’re the first I’ve been invested in to this extent. As such, one of the biggest pet peeves I had when I first joined this fandom was the saying, “Ian fell first, Mickey fell harder.” These two wonderful dumbasses face planted on the concrete in front of the Kash and Grab in s1 and never recovered. I could go on forever about these two, but that particular wall of text would probably be too daunting for even the most avid Gallavich stan to traverse, so I’ll keep it fairly brief. As we can see above, Ian has a very strict sense of what he “should” want in a partner. Someone who is moderately successful in their chosen field, makes enough money to at least live comfortably, and typically does something that helps other people (a doctor, a fireman, a youth counselor). These aren’t passionate people. They’re not men who operate on instinct the way most of the people in his life have always had to by virtue of their social standing. They have life goals and opportunities that he envies, and Ian has a great deal of compassion for them when they hit a roadblock or things don’t work out. The amazing dichotomy of Ian Gallagher is that he straddles a line most people can’t between the rough neighborhood that has instilled in him all of his values/behaviors and the middle-class mentality of pulling yourself up by your bootstraps and aspiring to more. Ian has always aimed for what Lip said wasn’t possible for poor people: being successful without having to scam or steal. But as I said way back at the beginning of this manifesto, the South Side is his home. His family is his family. And none of the people he’s been with personify the South Side quite like Mickey—they don’t personify home like Mickey.
And I think that’s where the initial draw for Ian is. (I’m going to focus on Ian’s side since he’s who your question focused on.) The other guys look great on paper, and Ian’s brain says that that’s what he should aim for. We know better, though. We know that Ian has an enormous heart that belongs first and foremost to his family and their home. His heart says that this person—this dirty, rude, mean, violent person—is home. His heart says this person is everything about himself that he denies having, just like Ian was everything about Mickey that the latter declined to openly acknowledge for so long. I don’t like relationships built on “making each other better.” I really don’t. The wonderful thing about this is that it’s never been that way. Ian didn’t change Mickey. He’s exactly who he’s always been, but he’s grown past the fear of his own emotions and Terry’s response to them. He’s still a thief, a con artist, violent, and rude. Mickey didn’t change Ian either. He’s still rigidly conforming to certain stereotypes of what he thinks he should want, seeking structure (to his own detriment at times), and not a great communicator. The point for them is that they complement each other, not that they make the other a better person—not even that they bring something out of each other that wasn’t already there. That’s what Ian’s other relationships did. They made him shave off his edges so that he could fit a square peg into a round hole, and that’s not happiness. It’s simply what he thought he was supposed to do—what “normal” people did.
With Mickey, he doesn’t have to worry so much about what is normal or acceptable. He doesn’t have to worry about whether or not his life is objectively “on track,” not until fairly recently. Mickey is the only person he’s ever been with who has accepted him for who he is, faults and strengths alike, without the underlying insinuation that he should be aiming for something else or pretending to be whatever the other person needs him to be in order to care for them. Kash needed an escape—Ian provided it. Ned needed a very specific brand of toy—Ian played that role. Caleb needed a project to feel fulfilled—Ian went along with it for a bit. Trevor needed someone who accepted him as he was but did things his way—Ian did that. To care for Mickey has only ever meant being himself because all Mickey ever really needed was him. Mickey didn’t need an escape from his home—his relationship with his family is more complicated than that. Mickey didn’t need to be saved from his upbringing—it’s what made him the person Ian fell in love with and who he is happy to be. Mickey didn’t need someone to change who he is on a fundamental level because unless it is going to get him into trouble and separate them, Ian never wanted him to. (Even then, it’s about what he does, not who he is.) And yes, I’m sure that there’s a level of excitement that Ian finds exhilarating where Mickey is concerned, but I tend to believe it goes a lot deeper than that. What he finds exciting about Mickey is what Mickey embodies about the South Side—about home. About his own upbringing, but also Ian’s. About Frank and Monica, his siblings, school, work, ROTC—existing and surviving in an environment where it’s not guaranteed that you’ll have money to keep the heat on this winter or feed your family. They spent the early seasons living in a constant state of fight or flight. They couldn’t afford not to. And there’s excitement in that. Look at how many people say that the first seasons are their favorite! There hasn’t been a huge shift in the quality or direction of the writing, just the trajectory of the characters. They’ve gotten older, and their problems have been different. It’s not about survival so much of the time anymore, but those are the storylines that excite us. For Ian, that exhilaration in the constant battle of survival in their neighborhood is sewn into the fiber of his being just like it is Mickey’s. He saw his home in Mickey before they truly fell in love, and when that followed, Mickey became home.
In Conclusion
Ian has spent his entire life looking for the “right” path only to realize that it was laid before him: his family, his small circle of friends, and Mickey. I love that that is coming full circle this season, where [SPOILER ALERT] marriage has almost made him regress a bit to that place where there must be a right way of doing things going forward, and slowly but surely, we’re seeing him loosen up.
Good morning. It’s Ian Gallagher loving hours.

The last time you were in UA this late, you had given Shouta a faceful of pepper spray.
You shuddered as you swiped your ID and headed inside with Hizashi, still not sure you believed that any of this was real.
Only a matter of hours ago, you had been soaking in his bathtub, enveloped in far, far too many bubbles. You could still smell them against your skin, still feel the telltale ache between your thighs from your earlier activities.
Even as you strode through the corridors, Hizashi’s touches ghosted your body. You could still feel the tickles from where he had gotten down on his knees to fasten your shoes for you, the way he had stroked your hair and lulled you into sleep.
In many respects, you felt guilty. Hosu had burned while you paid for doughnuts. People had been grievously wounded while you cried out in pleasure. You had fallen asleep with your head on Hizashi’s chest while children came face to face with a serial killer.
Rationally speaking, you knew that there was nothing you could have done. You might have worked at UA but that didn’t change the fact that you were a civilian. Even if you had been on the scene, you would only have gotten in the way, but that knowledge did nothing to ease the pangs of guilt.
Several of the other teachers had already gathered in the conference room generally reserved for staff meetings. Several of them, including Shouta, had plainly come straight from patrolling the streets. Others, such as Cementoss, had been disturbed from sleep and still not quite woken up. Nezu sat at the head of the table, resting his head on his hands with a grave expression, while All Might paced the room, no doubt concerned for Midoriya.
You heard Shouta long before you saw him.
“This is bullshit and you know it.”
He was leaning against the wall, arms folded and looking furious, though where exactly that anger was directed you couldn’t be sure.
“Yo, yo, yo!” Hizashi called out as you entered the room. “Did someone call for a party?!”
Everyone turned to look in your direction, several rubbing their temples at the sudden noise. Shouta‘s eyes darted from you to Hizashi, plainly joining the dots.
You took in the stern faces and heavy atmosphere, before clapping your hands together.
“I’m going to make some coffee.”
~~~~
It took around half an hour for the rest of the faculty to arrive, by which time everyone had either taken a seat at the table or positioned themselves somewhere in the room. You sat down a few chairs down from Nezu, between Vlad and Hizashi. Shouta stayed on his feet, visibly agitated.
“I’ve called you all here to discuss the events in Hosu city,” said Nezu at last. “I’m sure you’ve all seen the news by now… but for those of you who haven’t…”
He pressed a button on the desk, switching on the enormous television screen behind him. You winced at the footage of Hosu shining like an inferno.
“Earlier this evening, the Hero Killer Stain was taken into police custody,” he said. “I’m sure you are all aware of his troubling history.”
Just about everyone had heard of the Hero Killer. He was responsible for the deaths of multiple heroes, as well as the critical injuries of many more. For most, he was a boogeyman.
“Recently, the hero killer struck in Hosu city, permanently disabling the hero Ingenium, also known as Iida Tensei,” said Nezu, “or, perhaps more importantly, the older brother of 1-A student Iida Tenya.”
You folded your arms and glanced at Shouta out of the corner of your eye, remembering a conversation you had had a week before.
You hadn’t talked much after he told you everything Hizashi liked, though that in itself wasn’t too far out of the ordinary. Shouta wasn’t a talkative person even when his schedule was forgiving.
He had knocked on your office door a little after lunch and sank down into the chair opposite your desk, arms folded and with a stony expression.
“Iida,” he had said, dropping a file on your desk. “I want you to speak to him.”
Earlier that day he had received a phone call from Iida’s mother, who was distressed to say the least about what had happened to the older of her sons. She had wanted UA to be aware of his situation and forgiving of any strange behaviour over the next few weeks. The worst case scenario would result in time off school.
Tenya would have needed counselling even without the grave circumstances of Tensei’s injuries and you met with him twice after the sports festival, though he had little interest in opening up. He thanked you for your concerns in the respectful manner you had come to expect from him, though shut down any attempt to discuss how he truly felt.
You and Shouta had both been concerned for him, though limited in exactly how far you could intervene. Never had it been more apparent than when he submitted his internship application. Shouta arrived in your office again, suspicious of the reasoning behind Tenya’s agency of choice, though Tenya himself denied any ulterior motives. Neither you nor Shouta had the power to deny him his agency of choice after both sides had agreed and so he had gone to work with Manual, now confirming all of your worst fears.
“Tonight, three of our students faced off against the hero killer, acting independently without the authority of their supervisors,” said Nezu. “Currently, we have only limited information available, but I do know that these students are Midoriya Izuku, Iida Tenya and Todoroki Shoto.”
As the daughter of a prosecutor, you knew without having to ask that this was a serious situation.
Even before you knew how to read and write, you understood the basics of hero law. Your father had decided all of his children would be lawyers and every family meal swiftly turned into a game of rapid fire questions.
“Could it be,” you said, “you’re going to expel them?”
Nezu sighed, resting his head on his hands.
“The incident is currently under investigation,” he said, “but that is a likely outcome.”
“And I’m telling you, it’s bullshit,” said Shouta. “What’s the point in training heroes if we punish them for acts of heroism?”
“The laws on this matter are quite clear,” said Nezu, “albeit short sighted. If three of our best students are expelled, not only will our reputation suffer greatly but it will quickly feed into the rhetoric of villains. For heroes to be punished for saving lives...well...doesn’t that only add fuel to the argument that modern hero society encourages grandstanding more than it does justice?”
“Is there nothing we can do?” Hizashi piped up. “Character references, that sort of thing?”
“Unfortunately, our hands are tied. At present the case is in the hands of the authorities,” said Nezu, “and heroes in general cannot interfere with the law. We can only hope that they reach a favourable conclusion.”
“We do need a plan of action, though,” said Nemuri. “If the students are formally charged, there’ll be reporters halfway around the block by sunrise.”
“We’re currently lacking critical information,” sighed Nezu. “Any action we take now would be based on pure hypotheticals.”
You chewed your thumbnail and watched the television, watching as the hero killer took several steps towards Midoriya.
“For a case this severe,” you said, “it’ll go all of the way to the top, likely overseen by the Chief of Police...”
“I imagine so.”
“In that case,” you said, “I think it’ll be okay.”
All eyes fell on you and heat rose in your cheeks.
“Uh, a-a-a-a-at least that’s my opinion!”
“No,” said Nezu, “go on.”
“Well,” you said, thinking back to your father’s dinner table quizzes, “I’m not too sure how to put this...hmm...but for a case like this, there’s a burden of proof. It’s not enough that they happened to be there at the time. You need proof that they each broke the law; that they each individually ignored orders and attacked Stain without permission. This would mean verifying wound patterns, collecting eyewitness reports, taking testimonies from all involved...”
You turned to look at the television, a grim expression across your face.
“Don’t you think it’s weird that of all of the footage of this incident, we’ve only ever seen that one looping video of Stain right before he collapsed? Considering everything happening in Hosu at the time, doesn’t it seem just a little bit likely that that is the only footage? Why haven’t they mentioned eyewitnesses?”
“Stain is known for keeping to the shadows,” said Nemuri. “It’d make sense for him to choose a place away from the public eye, with very few security cameras and minimal chances of being disturbed...which in this instance would work in our favour…”
“And if we consider the students’ quirks,” said Shouta, “Midoriya’s quirk is strength based, Iida’s is speed based, Todoroki’s consists of fire and ice…”
“...and we already know the city was burning,” said Hizashi, “there’s footage of Endeavour at the scene…”
“And Gran Torino,” said All Might. “His quirk is speed based. If we take into account Endeavour’s physical strength and fire, as well as Gran Torino’s speed...then all we have to account for is Todoroki’s ice...”
“...and it’d be difficult to prove either way that it was used to attack as opposed to defend. It’s likely at least one of them has injuries from Stain’s blade,” said Vlad.
“In the chaos of the overall incident, only the students and their supervisors can definitively say they ignored instructions,” said Cementoss. “So we just need to rely on Todoroki, Midoriya and Iida to play it smart.”
All eyes fell on Shouta.
He sighed.
“We’re screwed.”
~~~
You stayed on site for a few hours after that, going over contingency plans until Hizashi offered to walk you home. If tonight had taught you nothing else, it was how dangerous the streets could be and so you were only too happy to take him up on it. Not to mention, you wanted to have a frank discussion about how you were going to proceed now that you’d slept together.
“Is it always like this?”
“Hmm? Like what?”
You gazed up at the sky and stifled a yawn, taking note of the sunrise. To say tonight hadn’t gone as planned was an understatement.
“Ever since I came here,” you said. “It feels like there’s been one drama after another.”
“I think,” said Hizashi, booping your nose, “the universe saved it all just for you.”
You laughed at that, for he had no idea just how right he actually was. You had already slept with a coworker by your second day.
“Hey, hey you guys!”
Heels clattered against the tarmac and Nemuri threw her arms around you both. She was as dressed up as you were and you remembered grimly what Hizashi had said to you outside of Les Papilles , which was only a few hours ago, but felt like decades.
You kinda put us in the mood for French food.
Hizashi hadn’t gone to Les Papilles alone and, given he and Nemuri already had plans to hang out that evening, it made sense that they would have gone together.
“Look what the cat dragged in,” said Hizashi with a smirk, “where’ve you been?”
“Asking all of the wrong questions, Mic,” she said, letting go of both of you. “Where haven’t I been?”
She reached up to cup your face and squeeze your cheeks.
“I have something for you,” she said.
“Iv it a glath of wine?”
“No, something way better!”
Nemuri took a step back and rummaged in her bra, leaving you a heady mix of intrigued and nervous. She pulled out a slip of paper and handed it over, eyes bright with excitement. You unfolded it, trying not to think about how warm it was.
It was a receipt from a pricey jewellery store for an equally pricey engagement ring. You reached into your purse, feeling around until your fingers landed on smooth metal. You dragged out the ring and read the receipt, matching up the item to the description.
“This...this is,” you said, eyes wide. “How did you get this?”
“I have my ways.”
You couldn’t look away from the price at the bottom; Akira must have chosen the most expensive one in the store. With that sort of money, you could pay your rent several times over and still have enough left to buy several ordinary engagement rings.
“This…I...”
You were more than a little bit overwhelmed. You had known Nemuri and Hizashi only a few months and yet they’d done so much for you.
How would the night have gone without them?
Would you have spent another 45 minutes in the shower like you did the day he dumped you?
Your eyes welled with tears and threw your arms around both of them, murmuring your thanks over and over. Nemuri stroked your back, Hizashi stroked your hair and for a moment all was right in the world, the Hosu incident and Akira’s cruel words at the back of your mind.
Only one thing could have made it better, you considered, heart skipping a beat at the sound of Shouta’s voice only a moment later.
“The hell did you two do?”
You supposed from an outsider’s perspective, it wasn’t immediately obvious that your tears were happy ones and you took a step back, meaning to reassure him that everything was okay. Hizashi got there before you, though, reaching an arm towards him.
“Ahh, Sho,” called out Hizashi, “come on, we’re having a moment. Group hug!”
“No.”
“Come into my arms, Eraser,” purred Nemuri.
“Never gonna happen.”
“Aw c’monnnnnnn.”
“No. I’m leaving.”
He turned to go and you untangled yourself from the hug, still rubbing the tears from your eyes as you picked up your pace and followed him, looping your arms around his middle and pressing your face into his back. He peered over his shoulder, visibly bewildered, though didn’t pull away.
“Thank you,” you murmured, “thank you.”
“What for?”
You considered it, struggling to settle on one singular thing.
You remembered standing in front of your bathroom mirror with a pair of kitchen scissors and drugstore hair dye; remembered the emergency salon trip that swiftly followed. You remembered the expressions of shock as you handed in your resignation at your previous job; the excitement and hope you had felt on your first day at UA.
You remembered Akira’s words outside of Les Papilles .
Who else is going to want you?
You knew he had only said that to hurt you and in another life it would have knocked you for six. Now, though, it was clear to you that he was only repeating the same words you had told yourself every day since your first date.
Shouta was supposed to have been a one night stand and could so easily have been a costly mistake, but had instead been a turning point. He wanted you when it mattered, even if your encounter had only been sex. Until then you hadn’t known how it felt to be desired, didn’t know what it was like to be wanted without putting on some sort of mask. All of your life you had twisted and turned to become the person others needed. Shouta, though, had wanted you when all he knew was your name.
You didn’t know how to thank him for that.
Instead you said something else; something that gave him goosebumps and sent the tension from his body; something that brought crooked smiles to Hizashi and Nemuri’s face when they overheard it.
Something that, though none of you knew it then, Shouta would replay in his mind in the weeks to come.
~~~~~
As you embraced Shouta, everything falling into place, Masayama Akira woke up in cold sweats. His head pounded, his feet were numb and he realised, as he rubbed his temples, that he had no idea where he was.
He stumbled to his feet and glanced at his surroundings: the sky overhead and cold breeze. His heart skipped a beat when he realised he was at the top of a skyscraper with no shoes or jacket.
“What the f-,” he mumbled, hobbling towards the door.
He remembered only vague details of the night before, of getting down on one knee and eating dinner with another woman; a woman he had gotten drunk with and spent the night ranting to over beers.
“She’s nothing,” he remembered saying, holding up his beer for a toast. “I’m better without her.”
“Akira,” the woman had cooed, “you’re so right. You need to rid yourself of her...and I know exactly where to start.”
She stroked a hand to his arm, so gently that it made him shiver.
“Did you, by any chance, keep the receipt for the ring?”
Akira sighed in despair as he reached for the door handle, remembering nothing after that. Perhaps he’d call her once he’d had coffee.
Unfortunately, Akira realised very quickly that he wouldn’t be getting coffee any time soon. The door to the building was sealed shut and wouldn’t give no matter how hard he yanked at it.
He cursed and reached into his pocket for his phone, only to curse louder at the realisation that he was too high up to receive any sort of signal.
This was, perhaps, the worst thing to ever happen to him, overshadowed only by the knowledge that even now, after everything, his instinct was to call you.
Okay, so I promised a more comprehensive post on what is happening in Poland so let's go.
(CW: mentions of police brutality, violence towards protesters, homophobia and general bigotry):
- November 11th marked the Independence Day: fascist thug groups, proudly calling themselves "patriots" spilled into the streets. The protest was meant to be motorized, as per the organizers' declarations, however it turned into a full-blown march soon after.
I posted in the previous post, that these thugs at some point spotted a balcony of an appartment with a rainbow flag hanging out as well as banners supporting the recent pro abrotion movements hanging in the windows, and started throwing flares and fireworks at it.
They missed however two other appartments were hit, in one's case the flare managed to get inside and start a small fire. These thugs didn't do anything to call for help even crying out "Let that wh*re burn".
Thankfully nobody got harmed and the appartment in question (an art studio) only had its doors burnt. Later that day a group from one of the antifa collectives came to repair the door completely free of charge.
Aside from that there have been a shit ton of incidents happening during the march, mostly ending with lots of property damage and destruction.
A couple reporters got hurt by cops, inspite of them wearing the "Press" vests to identify them.
One of the reporters, a 74-year-old man, got shot in the face with a rubber bullet by a cop. Luckily he's safe now and was provided medical treatment.
Of course much of the right-wing government deemed the march a "success".
- The polish Prime Minister has declared that the government is planning to veto the proposed EU budget. Their reason is being in opposition to EUs terms in regards to countries needing to maintain their systems of justice intact and to ensure that everyone is equal in terms of law (of course the issue is far more complex than that but that's basically the rundown).
Of course the more batshit MPs from the governing party have pulled out their tired old boogeyman of "if we accept their terms we will lose all sovereignty, and we will be forced to *gasp* LET THE GAYS MARRY AND ADOPT CHILDREN!"
This may not seem like a minor thing but if these clowns reject the budget, we could lose millions of Euros, which is catastrophic considering our medical system is dying (representatives of the nurses' union have declared a strong possibility of their being a general strike of nurses in the whole country) and our economy is downward spiraling.
- As I mentioned in the previous posts the pro-choice protests are still happening on a consistent basis. The ruling of Constitutional Tribunal remains unpublished - meaning it essentially exists in limbo as far as it being part of the law.
The main strongest hypothesis is the government is either trying to wear down the protesting groups or is waiting to introduce the "National Quarantine" and make people stay home, and then publish the document.
Regardless, last night there was a march happening in Warsaw. Even tho the protest was peaceful, the protesters were attacked by cops, who sprayed pepper spray/tear gas on them.
Another group of cops in civvies attacked protesters with metal telescopic batons.
23 people got arrested, many of them suffered bruises while on their way to the police stations.
Couple of MPs from one of the opposing parties got assaulted by cops outside the building of the parliment. One of them got her parlimentary ID torn in half by a cop.
Photos of these incidents as well as videos are all online, but they are incredibly heartbreaking and distressing so I advise you not to look them up.
In many cases inhabitants of tennant houses located in the old part of the city, left ladders allowing young protesters to jump over the fences and take shelter in the buildings to avoid unjust arrests.
- Also yesterday, there has been an instance of cops harassing a 14 year old boy in the city of Krapkowice in Poland. The kid has been posting some information about protest marches on his FB page and since then the cops have been harassing him. First they came to his home and informed him that if he goes to that event, he'll be treated as one of the organizers and given a sentence of 8 years in prison (for someone his age it would mean 4 years in juvenile detention and 4 years in prison once he enters legal age).
The cops also went to his school and informed his head teacher about the whole situation.
So those are the four main events that have happened in Poland in the span of a week. Of course there is a lot more than that but these four, I think are the most essential.
Poland is honestly becoming too scary to live in...
A/B/O Worldbuilding
Every omegaverse author has their own spin on the idea, so here is mine! Feel free to use the ideas in your own writing. I really love world building as a whole as well as the omegaverse concept, so it kind of spiraled out of control ;).
These are just my own ideas so please don’t come after me if you don’t agree with something. I’m not asking anyone to use these ideas over their own.
It’s 9 pages so I’m putting the rest under a read more.
BIOLOGY:
What makes dynamic individuals different from others is the enlarged and highly developed limbic system. This part of the brain controls emotions, memory, and the endocrine and some of the olfactory reception. This is why they are so hormonal, experience deep emotional connections, and depend on smell for lots of information gathering and processing. It also explains why changes in hormones go along with changes in a person’s smell. The link to memory could mean that reincarnation may play a part, though researchers are still investigating.
Males are alphas or betas, females are betas or omegas. A person’s dynamic can be mutually exclusive to their personality, so you can have a really brutish and headstrong woman (such a personality does not always mean “alpha”), she’s just more likely to be a beta rather than an omega.
Both sexes have scent glands. Depending on the sex, the glands will be slightly different shapes, sizes, and in different locations (infographs at the end).
Males have canines and claws that extend during excitement or high emotion. If the canines extend far enough, they cause the gums around the teeth to split and bleed. The size, shape, and curvature of the fangs varies from person to person.
Omegas have canines and claws, but they are much smaller.
Rarely a person will have two sets of fangs, their canines and their lateral incisors. These people are always alphas.
Omegas have a “terror-mone” that is automatically emitted when she experiences extreme fear. It is very potent and far-traveling, and the idea is to alert others to come to her aid and overwhelm the opposing alpha’s senses until he backs off. People liken it to pouring bleach down their throat and in their eyes or getting pepper-sprayed.
Scent changes upon a person’s emotions.
Pheromones are emitted from scent glands. Pheromones are processed as a smell and therefore are a kind of scent, but are not directly linked with a person’s emotions. For example, even if an alpha is scared, he can produce comfort pheromones for those nearby.
Scent glands are very complex, high-value organs. They produce a person’s pheromones, scent, hold a mark, and are linked directly with a person’s mental and physical state because of the high density of nerve endings. Rather than check under the tongue or forehead for temperature, the most accurate way is to press the scent glands. Because of the nerve endings found there, they are sensitive to touch and overstimulation.
Scent glands sometimes need to be expressed in order to expel the build-up of pheromones in the blood. This is done via deep pressure or puncturing the skin with fangs or claws. The most effective place is the large scent gland on the neck but any scent gland will work. It is usually done by the significant other since the originator craves that physical intimacy and emotional closeness, but in their absence the person will do it themselves with their claws or by simply massaging the area.
If not expressed, the expired pheromones will build up in the blood and eventually cause anxiety, blurred vision, very high or low temperature, exposing canines and claws, intense trembling, and lethargy to the point of passing out. Essentially the person becomes very sick. The scent glands become puffy, sensitive, and the skin turns rosy as if sunburned.
Males produce venom from their canines and claws. Others of the same rank will be adversely affected by it, but those of the opposite rank are positively affected. The venom alphas produce can cause omegas to become catatonic if present in large enough quantities.
In extreme cases, alphas can go into R.I.L.A (Rut Induced Loss of Awareness), whereby they lose awareness of who they are, where they are, and what they should and shouldn't do. It’s a crazed trance-like state where reasoning is impossible and they act without inhibition.
Scenting is when one person wants to outwardly show everyone that someone is taken by them. It involves rubbing a person’s scent onto the skin of the other’s scent glands and body in general. This rubbing looks like nuzzling when done with the face, but can be done with any part of the body really. For two people to rub scent glands together is a very powerful experience. It strengthens bonds and dissuades outsiders from attempting to court one of them. An alpha’s desire to scent is stronger than an omegas, but they both do it. The desire to scent someone is an infallible sign that they have feelings for the person.
Marking is when an alpha intends to devote himself to that person for the rest of his life. The urge only develops when there is an extremely intimate bond between two people, and also involves emotional ties. Marks do fade and need to be replaced. There are creams that help the mark last longer, and people can buy an expensive contraption that has the dental impression of the alpha and can create a mark-like impression, but there is no scent of the alpha and it doesn’t last as long as the real thing. Nevertheless, people use it--on the daily, sometimes--when the alpha is gone for a long period of time. Omegas can mark too, but don’t really have an urge to do so. Marking can be done by the parents when the child is young and looking for comfort, but is done on the arm or wrist typically instead of the neck, as is typically used by romantic partners.
Marking isn’t for life, since marks need to be updated, but they do insinuate a very strong bond with the intentions of being long-term, since marks last about a year. You also feel that person’s emotional state while the mark is active, so you’re committing to that when you mark.
A mark may not last as long as normal if the omega is stressed. The increased adrenaline pulls the remnants of the alphas venom out of her system more quickly and some may not last six months given the right stressors.
Marking works because he gives her his venom, and she gives him her blood, so the omega doesn’t need to also mark the alpha, but sometimes will in the heat of the moment. Through scent glands the emotions of that person can be felt by the other, because scent glands contain high concentrations of nerve cells.
Even if an omega is already marked, the feeling of being marked is the same as the first time if it's by the same alpha.
If an omega is marked by another alpha while the previous mark is still strong, the omega will experience extreme pain as the two opposing venoms fight for dominance. It can take days, but one will always win. The venom of the alpha the omega is more attached to has a better chance of winning the battle, but it isn’t always certain.
Once a person has been marked (especially for the first time) the bond between the two is exceptionally fragile and should be carefully fostered by time spent together and physical contact.
Eyes dilate in response to many things. Typically it is a sign of physical relaxation in response to affection. It is also a major sign of trust, since severe dilation can cause the vision to blur. Dilation can be forced though, for instance when copious amounts of pheromones are in the air.
Preening refers to when a person is showing off to their significant other, and the physical change a person goes through when another person notices and/or appreciates their efforts. The face becomes flushed, they’re eyes may dilate, and muscles tighten in an effort to flex. Claws and fangs will lengthen in an effort to show physical fitness. Males preen to show their prowess and fitness to the female. Females focus on the dedication of a male to care for her needs, but canines are a symbol of the male’s ability to protect her, so when males preen, their canines drop and aren’t usually easy to retract.
Purring occurs when a person is either very content or wishes to make another person content. A person can talk while this is happening, but it can be difficult to understand. Omegas have a special frequency of purr that promotes healing and stress-relief.
There is a kind of deeper purring that only occurs between a pair of deeply bonded, typically romantically involved, individuals. It is a subconscious choice, so the first time a person does it, it usually comes as a surprise. Because it takes more muscles (the diaphragm, chest muscles, lungs, and larynx all work together) a person is more incapasitated than with normal purring, so it carries a connotation of deep trust in the receiver. Usually only alphas do this, but omegas can do it too. Because the muscles associated with talking are all occupied, it can make talking nearly impossible.
Glating (from the latin “gadio” for sword) is an intimidation tactic used between alphas so they may not have to resort to physical violence. It can also be used to prove an alpha’s rank to another so they are seen as a serious competitor/threat. This also affects a person’s ability to talk. It is an involuntary reaction like blinking, so trying to stop one’s self from doing it is a challenge. The term comes from the intense volume, causing it to reverberate around the surrounding area.
When omegas feel an overpowering urge to protect something they can become “theta”, where their reflexes and willpower skyrocket and they become little crazed animals
Children first present around 18/19 years of age, and experience their first heats/ruts about a year later. Over the span of a week or so they get extremely uncomfortable in their own skin. Their temperature rises and their gums become inflamed, tender, and swollen. Senses randomly sharpen before going back to normal. When they finally “tune”, it happens in a single instance. The body temperature peaks until they literally steam. The influx of emotions, senses, and hormones means they flee until they feel safe. It normally doesn’t last more than a couple hours. Typically, alphas will have an intense need to protect that which they consider part of their territory. It may be a person like a sibling, a girlfriend, or a parent, or it may be a location like their house or the nest of someone they love. Omegas feel insecure and unsafe and look to be with someone they feel safe with. Omegas won’t even want to leave that person’s arms.
Traumatic or transformative moments can force a person to change presentations. Sometimes the change is permanent, sometimes it lasts only a little while (weeks or months). They are referred to as “alternate alpha/omega/beta”.
Bunting is the term for a kind of head-butting, similar to what cats do, that works as a subtle yet deep sign of affection.
Moroi is a term for the sickness that overcomes a person’s body when intense negative emotions stem from one’s mate (i.e. rejection, cheating, fear of that person, falling out of love). It comes from the mythological term for a phantom ghost that leaves its grave to drain energy from the living. Side effects include extreme lethargy and phantom chest pains. The severity varies and the treatment is supportive care (rest, fluids). Some may even fall into a resting trance of sorts. It is very rare that a person dies, but sometimes the extreme phantom pains never go away.
A person’s smell changes depending on how they feel. It may be neutral (clean linens), happy, sad, angry, fearful, physical pain (copper or metallic), love, etc.
Every male possesses a knot.
Tonic immobility (aka ‘megaspace or the Rapture) is the term for how an omega becomes placid, calm, and compliant. It happens when lots of alpha pheromones act as a depressant to the brain by ‘bleeding out’ from the limbic system to the rest of the brain. It happens more easily when the alpha is someone she has great trust in. The depressant side-effect means the omega experiences an addicting calm-high. Alphas can experience this to an extent, but not with the same intensity. There is a problem with omegas experiencing tonic immobility and then, unable to have it again for whatever reason, turns to drugs and/or become prostitutes in an attempt to reach that high again.
Going feral is the layman's term for the very beginning stages of R.I.L.A.. It isn’t nearly as dangerous as the real thing but should certainly be recognized so that the alpha doesn’t drop further into his instincts. It’s how alphas prep their bodies for battle by flooding the system with testosterone and other chemicals. When glating doesn’t work, alphas may become feral in an effort to scare off another alpha before things become physical, but it generally happens any time an alpha senses an omega becoming upset with no sign of the situation getting any better. It also happens when he feels the need to go to an omega but is prevented from doing so. Lessening nearby stimuli is the solution to feralization, as well as scenting with the omega that he is worried about if she isn’t already with someone.
If there are normal people, then many are struggling with where to place dynamic people. Are they a subspecies? A baser kind of human, or the next step in evolution?
Bites occur to the neck because the blood flow is large, fast, and goes directly into feeding the brain. This makes it the perfect spot to deposit the pheromones in venom. This can make the recipient a little loopy and very compliant, making consent problems an issue. Alphas have an especially hard time because consent is such a popular thing these days, but waiting and worrying about the omega and giving her the power makes him anxious and emotionally unhappy because it goes against his nature to hold back. Alphas gain purpose and satisfaction from knowing what their omega wants innately, and omegas crave an alpha that will take the lead and make them feel safe and cared for.
Touching another’s scent glands expresses a deep bond between two people. To touch one when the owner doesn’t want you to is a big taboo.
An alpha’s instinct is to look after, an omegas is to be looked after. For this reason it is especially heinous for an alpha to harass an omega, because it goes against their instinct. To deliberately do something that frightens an omega takes a great deal of willpower because the smell of fear an omega produces is strong enough to stop the assailant from continuing.
Bouts of extreme rage can happen if someone harms another’s mate.
A person’s mate is considered off-limits and to break that law is extremely terrible.
An adverse reaction to intense negative emotions can cause an omega to cope with the overwhelming empathy she feels by mentally shutting down. It is an emotional block from all the emotions she feels of others and the desire to have everyone go back to being happy.
Scenting is considered extremely intimate. To interrupt a couple when they are scenting is considered very embarrassing. Usually, it is incorporated into a couple’s daily routine.
If an alpha wants to show another alpha that an omega is taken, he will mark her in front of the other alpha.
In modern culture, the size and thinness/thickness of canines don’t usually matter, but heavily curved and long ones are considered conventionally attractive.
In a relationship, the first time a person purrs for the other is considered a big step in the relationship.
Dynamics (a.k.a. “Dynams” for the hip youngsters) is the name for the class that every student must complete. Like any history or science class, it is part of the class schedule and is taken throughout high school. It teaches students about dynamics, how to be an alpha/beta/omega, and what each class means for a person. History of scientific discoveries and important figures are also discussed as they relate to it.
When an omega feels safe enough to nest, that is cause for celebration. It is only celebrated between the couple, however. When a young person finishes tuning, their parents typically have some kind of celebration. Marking involves a celebration where anyone can be invited or involved (with all the relatives, or just the couple).
TECHNOLOGY
Suppressants nullify most all the side effects of heats and ruts. It takes an hour or two to take effect and should be taken once per day (uncommonly, people up the dose if they feel they need to for whatever reason). Suppressants are different for alphas and omegas, since one needs to calm down and one needs to be more awake and not so placid.
Rut gear involves a type of bite guard and metal nail caps that go over the fingers. This makes them safe for others and prevents damage to others and property.
“Scent stones” are special kinds of rock that absorb scent really well. They are worn for extended periods of time by a person before being given to the other, where they are worn against a scent gland in the wrist to provide comfort and protection. After a week or so of being worn by another person, the scent fades, at which point the stones are switched between the two people.
“Phero-bombs” are grenades of concentrated scent to subdue raging alpha(s)
Bouts of extreme protective instinct--brought on by an overwhelming urge to protect an injured or scared loved one may get bad enough to only be stopped by vials of an omega’s concentrated pheromones. If this is a known/recurring problem, vials are drawn in advance to be injected into the alpha to bring him out of it and calm him down if need be. There are special divisions of S.W.A.T teams to deal with this.
Omegas can wear a type of scarf that is rigid on the inside and won’t release unless the scent stones in it detect enough feel-good pheromones from the omega.
RUTS AND HEATS
Males experience ruts, females experience heats (no matter the presentation)
Heats/ruts happen 4 times per year
Heats are characterized by muscle weakness, muscle cramps, and/or skittish behavior. Ruts are characterized by irritability, increased reflexes/senses, heightened physical strength, and/or short temper. Both sides experience varying degrees of restlessness. Alphas will often spend the nights unable to sleep, watching over the omega as the protective instincts take over, they’re canines also grow and can’t retract. Omegas’ scent glands will swell and become tender, and will sleep a lot. When omegas are awake, they fidget and crave company. The sense of touch becomes hyperactive, making every surface prickly and uncomfortable. Below is a chart to help better visualize the contrasts and similarities.
NESTING
Nesting occurs when an omega feels 100% at ease in the presence of an alpha. It requires the subconscious to be perfectly content as well, so it takes a long time for an omega to get to the point. When it does happen, it counts as a major step and is normally followed by celebration.
It’s a big deal if the omega verbally shares her nest with her alpha. Either by offering for him to enter or saying “our nest” can basically cause an alpha to fall to his knees.
When an alpha wants his omega to nest, or thinks she might do soon, or while she is nesting, he will go about trying to prove he can protect and care for her. This involves doting on her, showing her affection, bringing things for the nest, or otherwise showing his fitness. The omega will carefully consider his offerings for her nest. If she doesn’t take any of his offerings, it means he didn’t do a good enough job proving himself to her. For this reason, having an omega view and scrutinize his offerings is very stressful for the alpha.
Below is a chart for the different ways alphas and omegas behave.
