It’s officially my birthday week, and as promised I’m bookstore hopping. I’ve stopped into Strand, The Ripped Bodice, Book Off, Greenlight Books, and Book Culture, with an attempt at Better Read Than Dead. I’ve gotten so many books from authors that I love to read, signed up for so many book programs, and learned about so many fun special events coming up! We have another handful of stores today, with one last one this weekend. God I love this city 💖

Happy 25th birthday, Dipper and Mabel 🥳

It's crazy to think Gravity Falls itself is now as old as the twins were that summer and in turn, that same amount of time has now past since. Though we may all grow old as time goes on, our love for them and Gravity Falls will never end!

It's been quite a summer. From the Book of Bill, the website, Gravity Falls having a resurgence in popularity not seen since it ended and so much more. It's been an incredible adventure to see and like every summer, we end it celebrating the birthday of, to quote Alex Hirsch, "the cartoon babies that live in my brain."

I say it every year, but who knows what is to come till the next summer (ours...not GF's as that's not happening, lol). Will we get a new Gravity Falls book announced with BoB's success showing Disney it's worth it? Will Alex Hirsch's Netflix projects finally get out of development hell and happen? Will I still be here? Will Gravity Falls' fandom still be as thriving or will it decline back to the semi popular state it was before? Who knows. But whatever happens next, I am grateful to have experienced yet again a chance to see the GF fandom feel like it was alive again to the same extent as if a new episode was airing.

I was not here for those days. I barely got to experience that in 2018 with Lost Legends. So, in a large sense, this whole experience was as new for me, a now 7 year long member of the fandom, as it was for a fan who just joined this summer. Despite the ups and downs, I'll take these memories with me and cherish them for many years to come and till the end. From the book of Bill PR, the codes and deciphering them, helping Alex Hirsch curb leaks (I'll discuss that in a future video, lol), waiting for the website to reveal its secrets and more. It's been amazing.

Happy birthday, Dipper and Mabel. Here's to another great summer and for another amazing season of memories made.

Am I the only one who feels spoiled by reading Tamora Pierce as a child and then never finding something that hit quite the same? She really had it all. One of the only authors I’ve seen do multiple generations well (because the previous generations aren’t just offed or all of their progress backtracked). Ambient vs scholarly magic systems is still one of the coolest magic systems to this day. The friendships are perfect and just the right amount of romance to make it fun. Redemption stories that fit the characters and don’t make them perfect angels even as they grow for the better. Tragic regression stories that haunt the characters (and me).

Better late than never, day 2 of bookstore hopping was a rousing success! While I couldn’t mark everything off my list, I did take care of a lot of it! And added about 52 other books to it from my 2 day long search.. 👀

I went to Barnes and Nobel, Sweet Pickle Books, (yes the one Harry Styles went to, yes the bread and butter pickles are delicious) and McNally Jackson! We had a little photo shoot by the water of me in my 90s looking outfit/poses and got gelato in Little Italy.

Today is my actual birthday and I’m already deep into reading my new books. Maybe I’ll start doing posts/TikToks actually going into and detailing all these bookstores.. an excuse to go do extensive recon on bookstores who need help? Oh nooooo
