I think this is probably a pretty common reason, but one thing I really like about AJR’s music is that romance is rarely the main focus. (I like the Turning Out trilogy, and I think part iii is especially well written and poignant, but those songs aren’t in my top favorites.)

There’s obviously nothing wrong with artists who focus on romance, but it’s usually just not my thing. So it’s great to be able to put on any AJR album and know that most of the songs are about mental health, becoming an adult, non-romantic relationships, and other subjects that either hit harder for me or interest me more.

I think the biggest appeal of enemies-to-lovers is that it forces the leads to learn to like each other before they feel attraction to one another. Which is possibly the most demisexual approach I could take to reading romance

Okay I have a hot take and a controversial opinion here; but I've seen a lot of people get upset over shipping Alastor with other characters due to the fact he's ace, and I totally get it- representation matters. But people shouldn't be getting mad over harmless shipping, especially when it ereases other asexual identities. Demisexuals exist. Asexuals who experience romantic attraction exist. Abrosexuals exist. We want representation too :')

i think that nanami isn't someone who can do casual hookups.

i think he's probably tried but ,, he is just not able to have sex with someone he wasn't romantically interested in.

when he's having sex, it's because he's in it for the long run. i think as a teenager / v young adult he didn't feel so emotional about it, but as he's grown he's begun to view it as extremely intimate.

i also think that he'd be an aftercare GOD. rough or not, slow and sensual or fast and quick, he is always there with praise, good communication and a bath. he'll even carry you if you're sore. (if you're thinking "im too big for that," no, you're not. he's a sorcerer. he's beefy.)

kento probably enjoys rough sex, especially after a hard day of work, but i don't know if he'd want it rough 24/7. sex is intimate for him, a sign of love ;; i think that sometimes he would want it more vanilla.

also he would definitely want to make your first time as special as possible for you; he wouldn't go rough unless you specifically asked and even then he would be hesitant. (plus the best aftercare imaginable.)

by the time you guys would be having frequent sex, kento's in it fully emotionally. he can't do casual sex, he needs some sort of connection stronger than that.

The forced wacked Anakin Skywalker with the demisexual stick really good and hard. Anakin falls in love once and never moves on from it. Plus his queer platonic bond (bordering on love if Padme didn't exist) with Obi Wan that ended badly, never moved on from that either. Anakin Skywalker is like a duck. He imprints on people and has a unique bonds with each and everyone of them. If he loses those people he will never have the same type of bond like that with anyone else again. And if someone abuses that loyalty(cough Palpatine cough) god he and the universe is in so much trouble.

What if they didn't have sex after Rook returns from the fade prison?

They struggle to stray far from each other's side after Rook's return. Between Solas's illusion of Lucanis crumbling into dust, and the weeks Lucanis spent staring at that damn green couch, wishing that Tearstone Island had all been a dream, the two of them never thought they'd see each other again. Lucanis overcomes his embarrassment over PDA in front of the team solely due to the need to keep a hand on Rook at all times. Whether holding one of theirs, or simply keeping an arm around their shoulders as they process updates from the others, he refuses to let them out of his sight.

The usual teasing from Taash or Davrin doesn't come. A silent understanding of how much he needs this.

Of course he also knows Rook needs to rest, and sending them off to their room is the best way to encourage that, but he doesn't last long before sneaking off to check on them- if only to make sure they're still there. That they're still real.

In the few weeks since their disappearance, he's had far too much time to think about all the things he wishes he'd told Rook. How grateful he is, how much he cares about them. By the time they're tangled up together on Rook's couch, kissing like their lives depend on it, he thinks this could be the perfect way to show them all the things he never found the courage to say.

But in the end, he's not sure he can go through with it.

Despite the seemingly convenient circumstances, Rook is still his first, and Lucanis isn't quite sure he's ready for this yet. He does trust Rook, and wants to be with them in every way (eventually), but after weeks of sleepless nights and Spite's incessant demands that he bring Rook back from the fade, he's not sure he's up for anything more than holding Rook close, savoring the miracle that they've both survived.

He knows Rook would understand. They've always been patient with him, but his fears start to overpower his hesitancy.

What if he never gets another opportunity like this again? What if one (or both) of them dies in the battle ahead, and he loses his chance? Rook was always the gambler. He's not sure he wants to take these odds.

They're down to their underclothes when Rook notices the faraway look in his eye. He tries to brush off their concerns, but Rook knows him better than that. Once they coax an explanation out of him, they brush a hand along his cheek, smiling as he leans into their touch.

"There will be other nights. I'll make sure of it. Not even the gods can keep me away from you." they tell him.

They decide to leave their clothes on the floor for the night. Whether it's out of exhaustion, or the level of comfort they have with each other, he's not sure, but he's also not sure he cares at the moment. He lays with his head in Rook's lap, struggling to keep his eyes open as they run their fingers softly through his hair. When they start to lovingly tease him about falling asleep, he has only one request. It's all he's really wanted.

"Will you talk to me? Your voice is a comfort."

Demisexual Stan who genuinely wants a romantic and sexual connection with someone but freaks out whenever someone gives him attention like that. Demisexual Stan who forces himself to be "normal" and tries to hook up with people even though he feels sick to his stomach. Demisexual Stan's mind that drifts to a familiar face anytime he's kissing someone just so he can calm down. Demisexual Stan realizing that the only person he's been attracted to is his brother, so he tries to find guys who look similar but it just gives off a sense of wrongness that makes him wanna puke.

In the future, Ford notices how Stan reacts to when he's hit on in return (bc let's be real, Stan still hits on people, he has a reputation to uphold) and assumes that's just something Stan isn't interested in, but notices how sad Stan seems to get about it. Because, in Stan's mind, this is something he genuinely wants with someone--but there's only one person he wants, and they're unobtainable.

Or so he thinks.

Eddie pining in secret over Buck seems like a legitimate thing.

There's subtext in many scenes that make me think Eddie has secretly pined over Buck to some extent. I also see more than one reason why Eddie might never act on all those warm feels he doesn't know what to do with. Just one of those reasons is that even if he has finally accepted that he himself has feelings for Buck, he simply doesn't see how Buck could ever reciprocate.

Why would Eddie think that? Eddie's understanding of Buck's sexual life is shaped by what he's heard. (And what he hasn't!)

Eddie was never around to hear Maddie's comments that imply her brother might like men the same way he likes women.

Maddie to Buck in 2x4: "So does this boy crush on Eddie mean that you're finally ready to move on from Abby?"

Maddie to Josh in 3x12: "Oh no, I like you too much to set you up with my brother." Unrelated to Maddie but still key: Eddie also missed TK's comment to Buck in the Lonestar crossover episode, where TK assumed Buck was either gay or bi and that Buck was hitting on him.....

2. Instead, Eddie was around to hear all about Buck's firehose exploits back in the days when he was a self-described "sex addict". Yes, Eddie knows about Buck 1.0.

In 3x12, When Chimney suggests Eddie try talking to a therapist name Rosie, Buck asks, "Is that the one I slept with?" Eddie responds, "You slept with your therapist?"

Most recently in 6x13 Eddie listens to Buck try to calculate all the women he's slept with.

No one can convince me that the look on Eddie's face here is simply exasperation. He truly looks a little crestfallen, like Buck's words stung him.

It's just another reminder in Eddie's head that Buck is different from him when it comes to sex. Pair that with the head canon that Eddie is demisexual (everything in canon points to it, in my opinion!), and it's easy to see why Eddie would think he has zero chance with Buck. Buck once described himself as a sex addict. Eddie, on the other hand, got with Shannon in high school and hasn't ever been shown to go looking for any casual flings or want even a one-night stand. I don't think Eddie judges either lifestyle; he just recognizes they are very different. So, no matter what Eddie may have come to realize about his own feelings toward Buck, it's easy for him to think he could never be enough for Buck. And so Eddie pushes down those warm feelings, and he settles for whatever he can get with Buck. As long as Buck's in his and Christopher's life, that can be enough for Eddie. And that's still so sad to me, because it means that Eddie still isn't following his own heart.

It would be interesting for Eddie to be in earshot the next time Maddie makes a comment about a male date for Buck, though!

Not in a "I think sex is a bad thing and it's bad to think about and especially to mention it" way (I read too much slut and make too many well placed sex jokes for anyone to even think that) but moreso in a "I think my partner will find me disgusting if I dare admit to even thinking things of this nature and I've identified myself with the label of "sex-adverse" for so long that it feels like I'm a liar for not being as neatly in a box as I thought I was" way. I just wanna say I am LIVID with Andrew Robinson and Alexander Siddig for this 😤

I'm one of those lesbian who had a yaoi/mlm obsession as a teenager (embarassing, but also both hilarious and validating that this is a whole thing?), and y'know I thought I got over that and could try to be a half-normal person?

Y'know I went into Star Trek fully aware of it's gay communist tendencies, but y'know I thought I'd be safe (I watched Voyager when I was a kid and I'm convinced it's at least 30% why I'm as gay as I am). After re-watching Voyager and watching the Next Generation (I know weird order), I decide to naturally give Deep Space Nine a try.
