Project Development 2: (Hacking as Creative Methodology)
In weekly project I have created a music in FL studio and created a basic glitch effect in the music.
I am happy in that project that I made a music composing in FL studio which was completely new to me. But the glitch portion was not satisfying one. I need to improve the glitch part and also some interactions by the audience. So Here I modified me music and connected with the AR technology.
While I was doing the music, I was highly inspired by Belle Sisoski, a DJ, music composer etc. who born in Malaysia. She was using ethnic instruments and made stunning music and that made me impressed.
I searched for YouTube tutorials to make glitch hop songs. I found some interesting methods to adding additional glitches in FL studio.
I exported separate audio one with glitch, one without glitch and a glitch sound separately.
Without glitch.
With Glitch.
Glitch audio
Here after exporting files, I want to connect those audios into AR. Then people can interact with my music. So Here I created a sound system. I downloaded the model file of speaker and DJ. I gave animation to speaker in Blender and exported as ‘gltf’ file and imported in Adobe aero software.
I put 3 buttons for different audios that the first button is for without glitch music and the middle one is just for glitch audio and the other button is for the music with glitch. By touching each red button audience can experience the different audios.
After this project I learnt basics of FL studio and became more familiarized with the Adobe aero. Here also I was struggling with the beta version of adobe aero. Sometimes it didn’t work properly. Also, after the first project I got only few days to work on this project. Anyway, I managed to make this project finish.
Here I learnt how to make some basic music and some effects in FL studio. This will make me more efficient for my future career and I can add these into my skills. Also, I will improve for making better.

Excerpts from [this] Entertainment Weekly article:
"[Jennifer] Hale believes one of the biggest misconceptions about what they do is the skill required. "The work we do in games — this does not cover performance capture but in voice capture — is 85 to 90 percent cold reading," she says. "The entirety of Mass Effect, I saw no line before the moment I recorded it. It was all cold reading on the spot. A couple takes, maybe a few, and it goes out to market. That's it." She notes that this scenario isn't much different even now. "So voice performers have to be incredibly skilled in the game arena, even more so than in other arenas," Hale continues. "It's extraordinarily demanding." With Mass Effect, one of her more widely recognized projects as the voice of Commander Shepard, Hale remembers a specific experience when she attended the 2010 Spike Video Game Awards (a predecessor to today's Game Awards) as a nominee in the "Best Performance by a Human Female" category. "A voice performer was very much treated like the utensils on the table," she describes. "I really appreciated being invited, but I had an experience where I waited and waited and waited for my category to be announced. I had a 6-month-old at home who I was still nursing. I really was watching the clock. I finally sought out the stage manager toward the end of the show. He goes, 'What's your category?' And I told him the category. He said, 'Oh, we taped that earlier with the winner.' The dismissiveness of it — definitely I felt that.” However, Hale prides herself on the discipline she developed over time to focus less on those moments and more on the wins — and there have been clear wins in changing the perception around the acting part of the craft, something she has seen happen more in the past five to seven years." [...] On the same topic, Hale looks back to the evolution of voice acting between the releases of Mass Effect (2007) and Mass Effect 2 (2010) alone. "In the beginning, the visuals technologically were where they were, and we had to be slightly presentational to push what was happening," she notes. "But as those visuals became so much more hyperrealistic, we could actually drop back and do one of my favorite things. Thought registers on camera. Now we're in the space where we can relax and allow thought to just register on the mic." [...] [UPDATE: Just hours before this article went live, SAG-AFTRA told its members in a memo that the companies' latest proposals contained "alarming loopholes that will leave our members vulnerable to A.I. abuse."] Newbon agrees A.I. is a real problem, but folks like Hale and Goldman aren't so concerned with A.I. replacements. They're confident players are more prone to connect with a character if there's a real performer behind it. Kniebihly agrees. "There's no doubt that the industry is going through a challenging time. Layoffs, budget cuts, and uncertainty have made it clear that nothing is guaranteed — even for successful studios," he says. "To me, what makes this job interesting in the first place is that weird, intangible chemistry between an actor and a director. It's the trust at the core of that relationship that pushes everyone to give the best of themselves and creates more than the sum of its parts. And I'm not going to get that from A.I. anytime soon.""

Final Thoughts: Due South Stacked Rewatch/Timestamp Roulette Art Challenge
Personal favorites (in no particular order):

Well this was fun. And it wasn't. Like most things, it was a very mixed bag.
I started out in September wanting to see if I could develop a personal, recognizable lineart style, something easy-looking and confident. Turns out I wasn't very motivated to do that after all. Or maybe I'm so stuck in my ways that I don't want to put myself through the process of de-learning some things and learning new ways of working. I've always been self-taught in almost everything (just doing stuff intuitively my way) and get easily irritated if I'm pushed out of my comfort and skill zones. Not a great learner!
The one thing where I definitely did step out of my comfort zone and gained confidence in was posting stuff that's less than perfect to my own eye. Ha, got quite good at that, actually! I think I got over the fear that someone tells me "this is not up to your usual standards". I'm hoping - while definitely aiming to create stuff that gives people feels - that this will make me work quicker and post more happy-making art instead of sweating over whether a piece is good enough to be posted. And I truly hope that my shit-posting (as I've called my super quick doodle weeks) has given someone else out there a feeling that they, too, can post stuff that might not be perfect by some artificial standard. I keep saying that great fanart can be drawn with stick figures, too.
One of the biggest joys in this project has been discovering oil pastels. They simply suit my way of working, the colors are easy to mix and I can work pretty fast (I'm impatient). One thing I've gotten a lot of feedback on is how much people love seeing traditional media used for fanart. I still don't know what to think of the difference between digital and traditional. Is there any? Don't I use my human hands to create digital art, too? What difference does it make if a piece of art exists in pixels instead of pigment (except that photographing the latter for online viewing is a pain in the ass)? I kept going back to digital art from time to time in this project, and certainly can't choose which I enjoy more, oil pastels or Photoshop. Probably will continue more with digital art for the simple reasons of less mess, no storage problems, available shortcuts to reach a better likeness, and endless editing options. The best medium for me is the one I actually bother to pick up to make art.
This 38-week project was probably the largest-scale art experiment I've ever done - or will ever do, at least on a strict weekly schedule. I kept expecting RL stuff to throw me off schedule, but it didn't. I kept expecting I'd just give up at some point, but I didn't. I guess the joy of having even a small purpose in life (even if it was self-inflicted pain in the ass sometimes) was worth it.
Thank you for following this project - and super thanks to those who tried the actual timestamp art roulette challenge even once! It's still open - the instructions are in the first post here: https://mortmere.tumblr.com/tagged/*/chrono
(The link goes to a chronological view of all my art/crafts post from these past 9 months - it's been my "progress evaluation link" to see what I've managed to create so far.)

SpaceTime -- A brief history
SpaceTime is Australia’s most popular and respected astronomy and space science news program – averaging over two million downloads every year. We’re also number five in the United States. The show reports on the latest stories and discoveries making news in astronomy, space flight, and science. SpaceTime features weekly interviews with leading Australian scientists about their research. The show began life in 1995 as ‘StarStuff’ on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s (ABC) NewsRadio network. Award winning investigative reporter Stuart Gary created the program during more than fifteen years as NewsRadio’s evening anchor and Science Editor. Gary’s always loved science. He was the dorky school kid who spent his weekends at the Australian Museum. He studied astronomy at university and was invited to undertake a PHD in astrophysics, but instead focused on a career in journalism and radio broadcasting. Gary’s radio career stretches back some 34 years including 26 at the ABC. His first gigs were spent as an announcer and music DJ in commercial radio, before becoming a journalist, and eventually joining ABC News and Current Affairs. He was part of the team that set up ABC NewsRadio and became one of its first on air presenters. When asked to put his science background to use, Gary developed StarStuff which he wrote, produced and hosted, consistently achieving 9 per cent of the national Australian radio audience based on the ABC’s Nielsen ratings survey figures for the five major Australian metro markets: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Perth. That compares to the ABC’s overall radio listenership of just 5.6 per cent. The StarStuff podcast was published on line by ABC Science -- achieving over 1.3 million downloads annually. However, after some 20 years, the show finally wrapped up in December 2015 following ABC funding cuts, and a redirection of available finances to increase sports and horse racing coverage. Rather than continue with the ABC, Gary resigned so that he could keep the show going independently. StarStuff was rebranded as “SpaceTime”, with the first episode being broadcast in February 2016. Over the years, SpaceTime has grown, more than doubling its former ABC audience numbers and expanding to include new segments such as the Science Report -- which provides a wrap of general science news, weekly skeptical science features, special reports looking at the latest computer and technology news, and Skywatch – which provides a monthly guide to the night skies. The show is published three times weekly (every Monday, Wednesday and Friday) and available from the United States National Science Foundation on Science Zone Radio, and through both i-heart Radio and Tune-In Radio.

Twenty things I wish I’d known when I started my PhD
- according to Nature.com
Maintain a healthy work–life balance by finding a routine that works for you. It’s better to develop a good balance and work steadily throughout your programme than to work intensively and burn out. Looking after yourself is key to success.
Discuss expectations with your supervisor. Everyone works differently. Make sure you know your needs and communicate them to your supervisor early on, so you can work productively together.
Invest time in literature reviews. These reviews, both before and after data collection, help you to develop your research aims and conclusions.
Decide on your goals early. Look at your departmental guidelines and then establish clear PhD aims or questions on the basis of your thesis requirements. Goals can change later, but a clear plan will help you to maintain focus.
“I don’t need to write that down, I’ll remember it” is the biggest lie you can tell yourself! Write down everything you do — even if it doesn’t work. This includes meeting notes, method details, code annotations, among other things.
Organize your work and workspace. In particular, make sure to use meaningful labels, so you know what and where things are. Organizing early will save you time later on.
It’s never too early to start writing your thesis. Write and show your work to your supervisor as you go — even if you don’t end up using your early work, it’s good practice and a way to get ideas organized in your head.
Break your thesis down into SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and timely) goals. You will be more productive if your to-do list reads “draft first paragraph of the results” rather than “write chapter 1”. Many small actions lead to one complete thesis.
The best thesis is a finished thesis. No matter how much time you spend perfecting your first draft, your work will come back covered in corrections, and you will go through more drafts before you submit your final version. Send your drafts to your supervisor sooner rather than later.
Be honest with your supervisor. Let them know if you don’t understand something, if you’ve messed up an experiment or if they forgot to give you feedback. The more honest you are, the better your relationship will be. Helping your supervisor to help you is key.
Back up your work! You can avoid many tears by doing this at least weekly.
Socialize with your lab group and other students. It’s a great way to discuss PhD experiences, get advice and help, improve your research and make friends.
Attend departmental seminars and lab-group meetings, even (or especially) when the topic is not your area of expertise. What you learn could change the direction of your research and career. Regular attendance will also be noticed.
Present your research. This can be at lab-group meetings, conferences and so on. Presenting can be scary, but it gets easier as you practise, and it’s a fantastic way to network and get feedback at the same time.
Aim to publish your research. It might not work out, but drafting articles and submitting them to journals is a great way to learn new skills and enhance your CV.
Have a life outside work. Although your lab group is like your work family, it’s great for your mental health to be able to escape work. This could be through sport, clubs, hobbies, holidays or spending time with friends.
Don’t compare yourself with others. Your PhD is an opportunity to conduct original research that reveals new information. As such, all PhD programmes are different. You just need to do what works for you and your project.
The nature of research means that things will not always go according to plan. This does not mean you are a bad student. Keep calm, take a break and then carry on. Experiments that fail can still be written up as part of a successful PhD.
Never struggle on your own. Talk to other students and have frank discussions with your supervisor. There’s no shame in asking for help. You are not alone.
Enjoy your PhD! It can be tough, and there will be days when you wish you had a ‘normal’ job, but PhDs are full of wonderful experiences and give you the opportunity to work on something that fascinates you. Celebrate your successes and enjoy yourself.
This was part of my required readings this week and I have never related to an academic text more so I had to share.

HELLO LOVELIES
I AM BACK
Life Update:
I am in the middle of a really weird emotional swing where I'm having a lot of fun in my life some days, and horrid depressive episodes in others, But generally, I'm okay.
I'm a bit happier with where my art skills are sitting, And I'm getting my hair trimmed today!
I'm trying my best to pray and get closer to God, though I'm not being too successful, and I resolve to try harder.
I'm trying to be productive despite my weird emotional state, I've managed to keep my weekly routine of chores so far, and I think I need to start setting goals and alarms for myself
I watched Arcane, a few other Movies, and I'm reading some new books.
Project Update:
I'm REALLY happy with how J&R's development is turning out (Special thanks to Sunny, Pastel, & My Family)
I am beginning to compile everything into a big Google doc so I can organize and flesh everything out more.
I've been starting to think about little Sunny and Lilly for the little side comic, and they are adorable (I also need to do worldbuilding for that one as well)
For now though, here's my to-do list:
Finish reading both of my books
Do at least two art practices
Start/Continue work on my J&R development Docs
Start Making some lore for Sunny & Lily
Clean
Happy to be back! Love all of you, and I will be aggressively posting about my babies as I flesh them out more!
I will try to get to all of your asks and mentions, in the meantime, please send more or start a conversation! I'd be happy to talk about anything with you! <333

Project Development 1: (Journey through the digital media)
After Completing the weekly projects, I chose the second week project for the further development. First, I was planned to make a motion graphics video to present the different stages of our media timeline. When I presented my idea Ian gave feedback that I have to add more to engage or do something different for the making the audience to interact with that.
I have already created the scenes and the sketch for the video. I began to think what should I do and finally I decided to make some VR or AR artefact to my project. In my tutorial session Xinge also gave more possible Idea to create more engaging to audience.
So, I borrowed a VR headset from our university loan store. But the attempt was failed because my laptop doesn’t support the VR headset. Then I changed my plan to do AR artefact.
youtube
After scanning the QR code, it will redirect to the app Aero Viewer, and we can see the output as shown below.
While comparing my weekly project I created different scenes to develop the idea as a motion graphics video.
I created a rough sketch for the scenes.
Then I sketched each scene in ‘Sketchbook’ App.
I was impressed by the art works who was created by Arosh Thevadathil, Known as Doodle Muni. Which I have already mentioned in my weekly project blog. His art work have unique style of drawing and that way of approach was so influenced me to make scenes.
While I went to London, I saw the Butterfly trail in Tottenham court road. That artefact impressed me and influenced a lot to create my own work model.
I used After effects for adding some motions to the scene.

Scene 2

Scene 3

Scene 4

Scene 5

Scene 6

I used Adobe Premiere Pro for joining these clips and added some background music for that.
For the AR part I used Adobe Aero to create the AR elements. I downloaded some 3d models and created a scene. I added Newspaper, Radio, Old TV, Computer, Mobile Phone and VR headset into scene and arranged in an order.
This Project took almost 2 to 3 weeks to complete. I spent more time to resolve the issue with VR headset and but after finding the reason that my laptop doesn’t support the VR headset I chose the AR for immersive experience for the audience.
The other challenges I faced was the software Adobe aero was not stable in Windows and android phones. Maybe it is because of the developing stage of the software. But I managed to take output in my friend’s iPhone and it was perfect Output.
I am happy to say that I have learnt new skills like AR and some basics in After Effects. While I am focusing my career as Graphic designer-cum-motion graphic artist these skills will be more helpful to me as I can do some advanced level communication to the audience by applying some immersive experience to them.

Why is landing an Internship as a Computer Engineering/Computer Science Student so hard ?
Hey there, dear coders!
I apologize for my long absence—life caught me off guard with a lot of work and projects. Now that I finally have some time, I wanted to make a post to connect with you all. Thank you so much for 1,000 subscribers! I know maintaining a community requires consistent posting, and I feel like many of you might have forgotten about me. But I promise to make something big out of this. I've been thinking about starting a newsletter where you can receive weekly emails from me, discussing something I learned that week or anything that intrigued me and I felt like sharing.
Now, back to our question: Is it really hard to land an internship as a computer science student? The answer is yes, and as a computer engineering student myself, I can attest to this.
I've often wondered why it's so difficult. After some observations, I discovered that almost every computer science student's resume looks the same. The portfolios are nearly identical, lacking uniqueness. If you've studied at the same school as your friends, what would make a recruiter choose you over them?
This is where uniqueness and a sense of self come in. Your portfolio or website should reflect exactly who you are as a person and highlight your strengths.
The second crucial factor is dedication. I've had classmates who are extremely dedicated. They might not have any special skills, but they show immense interest in what they want to do. This drive is palpable, and recruiters can sense it too.
Sometimes, the resume isn't even the most important aspect. For big companies like Oracle, what you say and know during the interview and technical tests matters more. The resume is just the very first step.
So, what I've learned along the way can be summed up in two words: uniqueness and dedication.
Now how to Create the Perfect Resume to Land an Internship as a Student ?
1. Keep the design simple:
Avoid extra designs or too many colors. While uniqueness is important, recruiters generally do not favor overly designed resumes.
2. Structure your resume properly:
- The Resume Header
Contact Information:
Full name and title: List your first and last name. Use the title of the role you want instead of your current title.
Professional email address: Use a clean format like [email protected].
Phone number: Choose the number you check most frequently. Record a professional voicemail greeting if yours is too casual.
Address: List only your city and state. Let recruiters know if you're willing to relocate if applicable.
LinkedIn or other professional social media: Include your LinkedIn profile if it's active and relevant. List any portfolios or computer engineering-related sites.
- The Resume Summary
A paragraph where you describe yourself by answering these questions:
What is your professional style? (Use one or two descriptive words such as patient, critical thinker, consensus builder, excellent designer.)
What is your greatest engineering strength?
What will you add to this particular team?
What is your process for building and maintaining computer networks?
What are you proudest of in your career?
Example:
Motivated computer engineering student with a strong foundation in software development and solid analytical and problem-solving skills. Looking for an opportunity to enhance my skills in a challenging professional environment.
- The Employment History Section
Be specific about how you contributed to each position and the impact you made.
List the job title, organization name, dates of employment, and 3–6 bullet points showcasing your achievements.
Start each bullet point with a strong action verb like collaborated or designed.
Highlight significant achievements rather than just listing responsibilities.
If you have no experience, include a projects section. This will act as your experience. Highlight how you worked on each project and your passion for it.
- The Skills Section
Combine hard and soft skills. The skills section is often the first place recruiters look to ensure you have the key abilities they're seeking. Your entire resume should support the skills you list here.
- The Education and Certifications Section
List your education, including any relevant courses or special achievements during your degree. Also, mention any certifications you have, whether from freeCodeCamp, Google, Coursera, etc.
By following these tips, you can create a resume that stands out and showcases your unique strengths and dedication. Good luck with your internship search, and remember to stay true to yourself!

My Year of the Wheel
Starting on Yule of this year (December 21, 2023), I will be following a project I'm calling my Year of the Wheel. For the following 365 days, I will observe the Wheel of the Year in order to deepen my connection to my craft and develop my practice. I’ve been a witch for over two years now, but I still don’t feel like it’s permeated my life thoroughly–despite the fact that it feels like my real self, and that it helps me on my healing journey. During this year, I will endeavor to do the following:
observe the Wheel of the Year sabbats
observe the full moons and other events
build my practice into my daily life
focus on my passions and interests such as witchcraft and fiction writing
realize and embody my core values, and learn to set aside those that are less important
practice witchcraft each of the 365 days of the coming year
Using these goals, I hope to ritualize and habitualize my craft. Overall, my goal is to use the Year of the Wheel to deepen my connection with my craft and aid me on my journey of self-healing and becoming a stronger, better person.
I wish to develop my divination skills, so please follow me if you want to see my posts about free readings I'll be doing! I hope to do them frequently, at least a couple times a week. I mostly do tarot but I will expand them over time. Also, feel free to ask about anything 💚
I may not post here daily, but I guarantee I'll be journalling and reflecting on how I practiced daily, and I wish to share here the lessons I learn, the information I discover, and the tips I want to share.
Important disclaimer: I do not profess to be the most knowledgeable academic about witchcraft or paganism. While I do my best to be critical and conduct responsible research, I am ultimately pursuing the craft for myself, and my path is designed to suit my needs and goals. Please take my content (as you should all content) with a grain of salt, and use for yourself only what suits your needs.
Please see below for the master list of my Year of the Wheel posts.

We're going to refresh this account with an announcement:
Reincarnation Trial is on hiatus!
(Rumi and Vauhn are going on vacation while we clean the game up) We've realized this was too big of a project for our first game, so we're changing some things. It's a common problem for game devs to go too hard into their first project, so let's talk about that a little more:
The project's been on hold for a couple of months now, because we want to start from the top again and really make things the right way, from the start. The game direction got a little messy and chaotic, the scope expanded with no direction, etc...this was initially Cheli's very small project to test the waters, but it quickly got out of hand the more fun we were having
So! We'll try to come back to it with fresh eyes, and in the meantime we'll hone our skills with a new project.
There's no risk of us abandoning the fun little project we started at the beginning of the year - we're just picking a smaller, more manageable one to complete so that we can learn and grow from that first. Our programmer @hazzmat-shelter's already been posting about it BUT we'll share more info here as it comes (and on Bluesky as well)
That being said, we'll be a little more active now! We'll share posts from our personal accounts here & post any major updates - this is more of a hobby for us than anything, so we'll share what we have whenever we happen to have it. Another big issue we had was trying to post weekly updates for a game that just didn't have enough development to keep up, so we're going to stay lax on how much effort goes into social media upkeep.
So, I mean. All of that being said…hello again everyone! See you again soon 👋
