listen to rap. especially in languages thar you are learning or have learned. it will teach you so much about cadence, pronunciation and meaning, but also the zeitgeist and cultural context they are used in, allowing you to engage with language as sound and rhythm while also engaging with it as a medium. listen to rap!
#also so much rap is made my migrants and diasporas which brings another layer to this exercise#me and my best friend at 3am comparing vowel frequency in polish and french rap this is what its all about. to me.#of course u dont have to be anything of course. but engaging with art in good faith even if it does not initally impress you#will always be productive <3

perfect morning routine 💗


1. wake up early (5:30-6:30 am): start the day off with waking up early to make your mornings feel less rushed.
2. hydrate (5 minutes): drink a glass of water to kickstart your metabolism and rehydrate after a night’s sleep.
3. yoga (10-15 minutes): a short yoga session can help loosen muscles and improve blood flow.
4. meditation (5-10 minutes): practicing deep breathing to center your mind and reduce stress for the day ahead.
5. exercise (20-30 minutes): moderate workouts like a jog, bodyweight exercises, or cycling to boost your energy levels and release endorphins.
6. healthy breakfast (20 minutes): aim for a balance of protein, fiber, and healthy fats. (if you take daily vitamins, do it after having breakfast)
7. shower/skin care (15-20 minutes): refresh yourself and do your skincare routine.
8. daily intentions/scheduling (5 minutes): write and/or vocalize your priorities or goals for the day. you can use a calendar or a journal. this will help you with getting all important things done.
all 8 steps do not need to be done every day but consistency brings the best results!! this routine will leave you feeling energized with a clear mind to start the day!!

i think i really need to learn how to cold quit things... one habit i have that really bothers me is checking my phone first thing in the morning bc it's "just for 5 minutes" "just to see if anyone sent me anything important" no bitch literally nothing on your phone requires you to check your phone first thing when you open your eyes!!! stop it

In light of the TGWDLM remount I’m tempted to make a compilation of my favorite parts of various student and community theater productions that have been uploaded onto YouTube…
#tgwdlm#the guy who didn't like musicals#starkid#I admit I have such a love hate relationship with other productions 😭#cuz I love seeing other people’s interpretations of the show and it’s my dream to direct it one day#but I also feel so nit picky about them like#‘if you end that statement with a question it confuses the meaning of the words’ or#‘I can tell they’re just copying the original actor with no understanding as to why they originally did/said those things in that way’#or ‘that characters entrance was to early/late’#or ‘replacing that swear word with ‘butthole’ makes zero sense’#…I have far too many criticisms of other productions yet I can’t stop watching them#cuz I genuinely do love seeing how others act out the characters and choreograph and stage it#so it’ll be good exercise for me to appreciate them better#the most recent one I watched (an hour ago) finally had a great Paul and that makes me so happy#I could rant for at least 20 minutes on why Paul is kind of a hard character to cast#but this guy not only nailed it - he made the character his own and <333!!!#I also wanna put a ‘favorite actor/s from each performance’ section and/or a ‘dream fan production casting’#where for every character id pick someone from the various productions to play them#cuz like I said the Paul in this one is really good. but the Ted in another one I watched a few months back was amazing#and the Mr Davidson of another show was hilarious#etc etc#anyway I’ve been thinking about doing this for months and the remount might be the thing to fully motivate me to do it

lately i've been boarding pre-fight exchanges from shovel of hope as exercises! they're short and concise so they're perfect for practicing shot composition and character acting in short bursts
i've been having fun so far; hoping to do these with every member of the Order of No Quarter eventually but we'll see! the VA is my own mediocre scratch as usual lmao, and the music is this harpsichord cover of in the hall of the usurper! if you haven't checked out the harpsichord guy definitely do so, it's awesome stuff

the most useful thing I learned in my one creative writing class was inspirational writing, that is reading another piece of writing and then taking inspiration from the writing in some way.
in class we had to write a flash fiction piece every 1-2 weeks, and we’d also have a short story to read. The teacher recommended (but didn’t require) that we take some aspect of the story we had read and build our flash fiction piece around it. This could be as simple as using the same POV or emulating the voice of the story, or it could be as complex as taking the same character archetypes or plot structure and switching up other things in the story.
now when I read something that makes me want to write, but I don’t have any ideas, I pull my ideas from what I just read. Not directly, of course (unless you want to write fan fiction, which is cool too). But more pulling the methods or approaches that the author took.
you can do this with anything. Read a page of your favorite book and then try to mimic the dialogue style or comedic timing. Read a short story and write something with the same theme. Or do what I just did and pull a random Aesop’s fable and ‘steal’ the basic plot. It’s still my own - i changed the setting and the characters and even the theme. I added a ton of detail to go from 100 words to 2500 and counting. But I’ve rarely come up with such a fully fleshed out story idea in such a short period of time.
This is especially good if you are used to writing fan fiction but want to do more original fiction because you are already used to drawing from source material. Just make sure you’re changing the characters and setting enough to differentiate from the source material. I recommend starting short - if you can write a good story in 500 words, it’s easier to write a good story in 5000 words, which makes it easier to write a good story in 50,000+ words.

Final day of zoom class this week, sooo excited to be done. Hard to believe Match Day is only 1 week away.
30nym challenge Day 23: How do you balance physical activity with your routine?
I exercised regularly until about 2020/2021 when Covid hit, all the gyms closed, and med school started. I got pretty out of shape between 2021-2023. Now that I have time over the next few months before intern year starts, I've started lifting 3 days a week and doing cardio 2-3 days a week, mostly zone 2 with 1 session of HIIT per week. I'm excited to get stronger and improve my cardiovascular health.

Everyone at the physio office liked and complimented my silly hot pink stars outfit :)

Also they shot lasers at my shoulder to make it stop sucking. Idk how that's supposed to work but I guess it's worth a try

I have a training session at the gym in 30 minutes, then I'll be back to do some replies, proofreading drafts, and maybe some plotting/reaching out to newer mutuals!
Again- Thank you all for understanding that early 2025 was simply... a lot of extremely difficult stuff happening one after the other and I was clearly struggling with the fallout of a veritable conga line of bullshit all taking place at the same general time.
It has been difficult, I'm not going to lie. But I am grateful for your support and kindness, so I just want you to know that I do really appreciate your presence in my life.
