In the 1970s, some gay community leaders turned their backs on the “less respectable” (read: trans, gender-weird, drag-performing, poor, racialized and/or flaming) members of their community in a cynical ploy to gain acceptance and power for themselves—at the expense of their more marginalized peers. There’s no better example than when, in 1973, the New York Pride Committee tried to bar trailblazing trans women of colour Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera from participating in the Pride parade because they were giving the organization “a bad name.” This decision by the local Pride committee exemplified a broader trend where some gay activists sought to push out more marginalized community members to win respectability and influence.  Flash forward 50 years and history is repeating itself in Canadian politics. As anti-LGBTQ2S+ hate rises across Canada, with even CSIS sounding the alarm, and trans lives being used as a political punching bag by far-right groups, Melissa Lantsman and Eric Duncan, the two (and only two) openly gay Conservative MPs, and other Conservative MPs who’ve called themselves our allies, are turning their backs on LGBTQ2S+ rights.

Dude it's so weird how monogamous people will take personal offense to your open or polyam relationships, as if it's their personal business how your relationship works and they try to make up the rules of your relationship for you. I'm perfectly happy with the idea of my boyfriend sleeping with other people, yet one of his online friends took offense to that today and told me I was just encouraging him to cheat, and when I tried to explain to him that cheating means boundaries have been crossed and the rules of what loyalty means to your personal relationship means to your were broken he got so mad at me on my behalf and tried saying shit like "This new generation just wants to normalize cheating" as if he isn't the same generation as me and my boyfriend. Like it's our relationship and we agreed that it's alright for him to sleep with others, but this monogamous guy got so offended by it because of his past experiences with cheating. And I know damn well that this is a common occurrence for non monogamous people to deal with. Why do monogamous people feel so entitled to make the rules of our relationships for us?

ok i know everyone has done similar versions of this poll already but i just like doing polls with my own options lol so humor me. sorry there is not room for an other button!! if you have a different fav not listed just pick one of these that's your second fav and add your fav in the tags/comments 💖
also to be clear i don't mean to highlight or prioritize any specific versions of the initialism i just have limited options in polls lol and i have all the other things i want to have available as well. there are so many possible versions and iterations i simply have to limit it. i am super curious what your favorite or what your preference is! do you use the +? do you add Q or spell it out? which letters specifically do you use? do you use one T or two? what does A stand for for you? what does Q stand for? what is the plus for? do you use a U? H? 2? what order do you put the letters?
is your fave something else? have you come up with a fun or unique or uncommon term or phrase? what do you like to use?
share in the comments n tags!

Friendly reminder as Pride season approaches: Don’t mix things if you don’t know their interactions and be mindful if you’re sharing things with people that they might not know those interactions.
Poppers + viagra/cialis will try to kill you and a lot of people don’t know that they can’t be used simultaneously.

Calgary Stampede has been barred from participating in the annual Pride parade “for the foreseeable future” due to abuse from a former staff member. In a statement to Global News on Wednesday, Calgary Pride communications manager Anna Kinderwater said some members of the LGBTQ2 community approached the organization after the 2023 parade and outlined the abuse they experienced by ex-Young Canadians staffer Phillip Heerema while participating in the Young Canadians School of Performing Arts as a youth. The school, operated by the Calgary Stampede Foundation, puts on nightly grandstand shows during the Stampede. This prompted Calgary Pride to conduct its own investigation that spanned several months, Kinderwater said. The LGBTQ2 advocacy organization then told Calgary Stampede that it would not be allowed to participate in the Pride parade for the foreseeable future. Kinderwater said Calgary Stampede was given “ample notice” about the decision along with suggestions on how to repair its relationship with Calgary Pride and the wider LGBTQ2 community.

Today an Oklahoma Senator, Tom Woods, called people like Nex- a child brutally murdered in a school bathroom in Oklahoma for being non-binary and member of the Choctaw nation- filth.
He also described how he would see that children, people, human beings like Nex would be removed from Oklahoma because it is a “Republican State”.
I think it’s essential to point out that the only reason Oklahoma has experienced the progress and development it has today- is explicitly because of the indigenous nations that currently call Oklahoma home.
The non-tribal population of Oklahoma does not produce near as much income for the state despite being the “super majority” compared to the tribal nations altogether contribute $15.6 billion in economic impact in the state of Oklahoma, with the Choctaw Nation contributing $2.5 billion to that total. So despite making up 10% of the population of Oklahoma, Native Americans contribute to the state half of what Oklahoma makes yearly from taxation income.
So when Tom Woods says that it’s “his state”, it’s ridiculous nonsense. That is the land of the people who were there before him and his party, will be there after him and his party, and the land of the people that do more to take care of people and improve their lives than the non tribal members ever could. It’s not “his state”, he’s a lazy child killing bum.
When he calls lgbtq+ folks “filth”, talks about removing them, specifically in the context of a murdered and indigenous child-
That only encourages the genocide and removal of indigenous folks, queer folks, two-spirit folks.
Tom Woods and his party of murderous, vile, lazy, hateful politicians that can’t even read the Bible that they like to hide behind- need to be charged with murder of this child.
A child who was looking forward to life, who loved cats, was going to get to go to prom next year, a child who’d been tucked into bed by their grandma, a child who deserved to live, a child who deserved to love who they are, a child who deserved to be allow to love, a child of the Choctaw nation.

Warning: This post will contain spoilers for Netflix’s Wednesday - do tread carefully.
Why I Think Wednesday Addams (particularly this adaptation) is AroAce.
———
Quick Definitions of Terms I’ll Be Using:
AroAce: someone who is on both the Asexual and Aromantic spectrum.
Asexual: experiencing little to no sexual attraction.
Aromantic: experiencing little to no romantic attraction.
Demiromantic: does not experience romantic attraction until they have formed a deep emotional connection with someone.
Greyromantic: experiencing romantic attraction but very infrequently.
——— Now let’s begin:
So I recently watched Wednesday and absolutely loved it!! I noticed specific things about this Wednesday that made me think she was AroAce. Despite her having feelings for Tyler, the way she acted around these non-platonic relations felt very familiar. I will say though, Tyler and her romance felt very forced (personally), but i digress.
In the first episode, Wednesday expresses to her parents, specifically her mother how she will “never be like her” and wishes to “never marry, or have kids” etc. which already began to intrigue me. An attitude and notion I had from a young age as well (and still agree with). Secondly, while on the drive to the academy, we see Wednesday get increasingly uncomfortable by her parents affection for each other (yes in general it can be gross to see our parents this way, but the nauseous feeling she mentions is relatable).
Tumblr media
A Brief Look at Tyler & Wednesday:
A lot of the ways that Wednesday would react to Tyler’s advances in trying to be more than friends, she didn’t really pick up on (such as his attempts to flirt or ask her out). An example being, Tyler outside of the police station talking with Wednesday, “i thought you liked me” - Wednesday has this familiar face of confusion (and realization) that some might call asexual obliviousness (can’t tell when someone’s flirting, thinks their just being nice). At least, it’s familiar to me haha. Even when they do start to consider being more than friends, we see Wednesday sort of still confused by this possible romantic feelings that she hadn’t really taken the time to notice. Since beginning at the academy - She firstly never really had friends until going to the academy, and secondly, upon making friends then began to develop a romantic attraction.
Tumblr media
Personally with such evidence that I saw, I would headcanon her as Asexual Demiromantic OR as Asexual Greyromantic. Maybe bias as an Asexual Demiromantic myself, but her character just felt too familiar in her sense of exploring platonic and non-platonic feelings.
Addressing some Misconceptions:
I’ve seen some discourse on here about people either wanting:
1) Enid & Wednesday as a ship
OR 2) to be AroAce.
I think some folks forget that AroAce people can still be in romantic relationships (or sexual relationships) and engage in romantic/sexual activities. Aromanticism and Asexuality have a broad spectrum of identities under their umbrella terms.
Enid, Wednesday, Tyler (and Xavier) thoughts:
I honestly think Enid & Wednesday would make a cute couple!! Tyler & Wednesday were okay, but like i said it felt VERY forced. Not entirely sure if they are trying to set up Xavier and Wednesday but I would like to see more female - male platonic relationships too. Don’t need to always have them in a relationship ugh!! Final reminder: AroAce folk can still be in relationships!! Also you’re valid!! 💗
Anyways,
thanks for reading my little tangent!! /gen
Let me know what you think in the comments!! [Any form of aphobic comments will be removed!] - Using tone indicators would be appreciated!! <3

It’s sad how it’s an all too reoccurring thing for people who are asexual, aromantic, and agender to view themselves as broken. There’s a great post which basically explains why it might be so hard for one to figure out if they’re aro and/or ace. I'll link it here. The comments of the post are mostly a bunch of people saying how the post helps them out so much and helps them understand who they are. This just goes to show how important it is to have proper representation in media as it can help so many people figure out who they are but also help them come out. With better representation it would be more talked about and not be as stigmatized, or taxing on the person who’s coming, anxiously wondering if they’ll be accepted or if they have to constantly explain who they are to all they come out to.
It doesn’t help that many people, mainly outside of the community, often say the A stands for ally and not for our Agender, Asexual, and Aromantic comrades. It doesn’t stand for ally as one does not get persecuted, hated, or discriminated against for simply being an ally. This doesn’t help as the representation they get are mainly from robots or aliens, and how much of a weight our society puts on romantic and sexual relations.
Having better representation and having equal rights will improve the lives of queer people more than some might think as some think what's currently done is enough. Though there is much to be done and SOME places are repealing their equality rights making it harder for trans people to receive, for what can be life saving, gender affirming medication and not allowing queer couples to get married *looking at you america* Despite this there have been improvements to help the lives of queer folk.
If your in need of help or want to help there’s the Trevor Project. They’re a nonprofit organization with a 24 hour toll free phone line and more things like online chats, design to help stop suicide among queer youth.
Trans rights are human rights, drag queens aren’t coming for children, gender is a social construct.
Stay strong, things will get better, with much love,
An ace-frog

Y’all I have NEWS
As you don’t know bc I never post my own stuff here I’m a writer in my spare time, and I’m pleased to announce that I’m serializing a novella here on Tumblr, as well as on other sites such as AO3 and Wattpad.
Thrice For Our Sins takes place in the fictional small town of Jordan, Ontario and will follow the narrative of a queer kid having to navigate the mess that is the societal cognitive dissonance of the Protestant Christian morality that shaped the society with the narrative many put on of wanting to be more accepting. Will our protagonist see a healthy society that can resolve this cultural contradiction, or will the sacrifices along the way be in vain?
I hope y’all enjoy this as much as I’ve been loving writing it, and by all means share this if you think someone you know will enjoy it.
the Prologue drops on September 22nd
