“Oh, Merlin, tell me, does THE QUEEN OF WANDS get what she deserves?” She is in THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX & is CLOSED to finding out.
— she walks through the world as ;
name → lily evans pronouns → she/her identification → cis female year of birth → september 1959 - september 1960 face claim → ellie bamber blood status → muggle-born sexual orientation → up to applicant occupation → researcher in the spells and curses research wing at the ministry of magic future information → wife of james potter, mother of harry potter
— she is best described as ;
She’s IMAGINATION & PURE CREATIVITY, she’s the SPARKLE in a SPELL & the PROUD SMILE of ACHIEVEMENT. She’s the NATURAL BEAUTY in the WORLD around her, the FIRE of DETERMINATION & WILL and the SOFTNESS of a FLOWER PETAL floating on the WATER.
— her story starts with ;
tw: death
Raised in Cokeworth to a muggle librarian and a muggle school teacher, her upbringing was relatively simple. Her home was dreamed up and doodled on the back of pieces of notepaper when her parents were young, with ivy growing up the walls and beautiful flowers adorning their cottage garden. Lily and her older sister PETUNIA EVANS [sibling/adversary] were named after those flowers, securing a special bond Lily thought they’d share forever. Her sister was her best friend, until the day it became clear that Lily Evans was different. When she was seven years old, playing in the garden with her sister Lily noticed as she and Petunia danced and twirled the flowers in their garden danced too, singing a merry tune as she had once seen in a film. Lily realised she could do extraordinary things, she blew a dandelion into butterflies and could make a bud bloom in her hands. Lily considered herself special, her sister did not. Petunia became jealous of her, saying cruel and spiteful things about Lily’s abilities until tears rolled down her cheeks. A freak was what she called her and her best friend became her adversary. A young boy in Spinner's End became a place of safety for Lily, SEVERUS SNAPE [adversary/former best friend].
A quiet boy, who sometimes appeared awkward in his own skin, Lily brought out some confidence in him, a look of awe in his eyes as she made nature transform into something even more beautiful. Severus told her the magic of the world behind the curtain from her own. Apparently she was a witch, like Severus’ mother and one day she would arrive home from school to a letter from PROFESSOR ALBUS DUMBLEDORE [former professor/leader] telling her she had been selected to attend a magical school for people just like them. Sure enough her letter arrived and Petunia was delighted to hear Lily would be moving away to boarding school, comparing it to a prison rather than a place of education. Lily did not want to leave on bad terms with her sister, but as she boarded the train for school just aged eleven she knew their relationship was well and truly over. Sorted into Gryffindor, Lily quickly befriended a few fellow lions she was fortunate enough to be sharing a dorm with that year. MARLENE MCKINNON [best friend], MARY MACDONALD [best friend], and DORCAS MEADOWES [best friend] were unique characters who made the transition to her new life easier.
Mary was her rock during the process, also a Muggle-Born, they were bubbly, friendly and seemingly unphased by the hustle and bustle of their new world. Lily attempted to follow suit and the beginning of classes signalled a new found confidence for Lily as it quickly became established amongst her peers that she was an incredibly talented witch. A firm favourite of her professors, particularly Professors Slughorn and Fltwick, Lily’s talents began to attract her both positive and negative attention at school, as people flocked to be her friend and ask for her help with their studies. JASPER AVERY [adversary] was particularly jealous of Lily’s talents and frequently made it known he believed her to be lesser, due to her blood status. Lily however, would never be deterred and garnered a bit of a reputation for late night duels by The Black Lake to take down those who dared to challenge her and put their abilities where their mouth was. Lily had thick skin and a sharp mind, which meant cleverly orchestrated insults often followed the sting of her spells. It was this fire that attracted the unwanted attention of JAMES POTTER [close friend/potential love interest/former adversary], a fellow Gryffindor, who Lily found terribly arrogant.
To Lily, James, SIRIUS BLACK [close friend/former adversary] and PETER PETTIGREW [close friend/former adversary] were self-entitled bullies who had found entertainment in making fun of others, namely Severus- though these dynamics quickly shifted. In her fourth year after a stern talking to from McGonagall about her fighting, Lily accepted a position as a prefect with REMUS LUPIN [close friend] and began to see things differently without blood red rage. Her once good friend had sought the company of Avery and LARKIN MULICBER [adversary] another boy Lily despised due to his disgusting treatment of Mary which had left her beaten and bruised. Lily couldn’t understand why he would associate with such people and when she caught him calling her a mudblood with his ‘friends’ and heard James Potter of all people defending her, Lily had little time for his antics. She was still not convinced of James and his friends, but her mind was made up on Severus. From then onwards, Lily was ice cold towards him, not even bothering to insult him but rather looking through him with as much disdain as she could muster.
After graduating both a prefect, head of her class and Head Girl- Lily was anxious to get her life started. As much as she loved her parents, she had no desire to spend any time with her sister and quickly moved into a house-share with American witch PRUDENCE OWENS [housemate] and JONATHAN REEVES [housemate] whom Lily vaguely remembered from school. It was jarring living with people she’d never met after spending so much time with her friends, but strangely Lily liked the separation and enjoyed the oddities of her two flatmates who couldn’t be any different from her. Prue and Jon mostly kept to themselves, which worked for Lily who enjoyed staying in her room after a long day at work. Lily accepted a position working for The Ministry of Magic in their Spells and Curses research department, studying spells and trying to push the limits of magic as they knew it. The job suited Lily perfectly, with a curious disposition and a joy of learning she hoped would never fully be quenched in her role. She saw her job as somewhat academic and didn’t realise how important it would become until people began disappearing. It was because of her skillset that Lily was asked to join The Order of The Phoenix, a secret underground group, it seemed most of her friends had been drafted into by their former headmaster.
When BOOKER BAGNOLD [person of interest] died on Halloween in 1983 everyone suspected a werewolf attack but PANDORA FORTESCUE [friend/colleague] thought differently, though no one quite paid any attention. A whimsical witch, though she was talented, people often overlooked her- but Lily was in awe of Pandora and paid attention to her research, though admittedly long after the Booker case was closed by the Ministry. It had irritated Lily that no one had listened to Pandora and privately Lily began working with her on the case, conducting research into what they thought might have caused the wounds on Booker and looked for any similarities. Annoyingly when ROSALIE FLINT [person of interest] went missing there was no body for her and Pandora to look over and BENJY FENWICK’s [person of interest] vampire attack seemed to be just that. Lily parked her research for some time, irritated that hers and Pandora’s theory didn’t quite seem to fit. Booker hadn’t been attacked by a werewolf, that much she was sure of- even if Benji had and Rosalie had just gone missing. With bated breath Lily waits for the next person to fall, as ghoulish and gruesome as it sounds. Lily knows the Ministry or perhaps their feared rival organisation are framing creatures. All she needs is proof and motive, so maybe her quiet and secretive housemate Jonathan, might be a good place to start.

Dinner
You have a panic attack and your boys comfort you. poly!maruaders x fem!reader
cw: panic attack, negative self talk, swearing, mention of raw chicken (ew ik)
1.7k words (it's long i'm sorry)
You never thought you would cry over chicken, but here you were. You knew that you had been having a lot of busy days as of late, there were a million things swimming about in your head. But you were managing it well, or at least you thought you were. But then it all came down.
You had bought a pack of chicken earlier in the week to cook for dinner one night. It had been on clearance so you knew it was  on its way out, but you thought you would’ve had more time. You opened your fridge so you could begin cooking before your boyfriends were going to get too hungry, when you realized that the meat was out of date by a whole three days. It was something so small, yet, it sent a billion anxious thoughts jumping around your head like they were on pogo sticks, and most of them were not very nice.
How could you be so stupid? You should’ve checked the date. If you hadn't been so lazy earlier this week you wouldn’t be wasting this food. Now there was nothing to cook and your boyfriends would go hungry. They would likely end up resenting you for being a shit girlfriend and being so-
“Dolly? What are you doing over there?” Usually Sirius’ voice was a comfort to you, but right now it just added to your misery. It reminded you of all your failures and why you would never be good enough for anyone.
Tears started filling your eyes. You tried to still your shaking hands and even your breathing, but it was all too much. They were going to realize your mistake and were going to be angry. His footsteps were painful and your other boyfriends’ laughter in the other room made you wince. When Sirius finally was facing you, your attempt at a facade fell apart. He knew you too well and apparently your body just decided to give over to panic because you suddenly couldn’t catch your breath. You tried to mutter out an apology but your voice was caught in your throat and your pulse was hammering.
“ Hey.” Sirius’ dark brows scrunched in concern, his gray eyes searching your face and scanning your body for any injury. “What’s wrong?” His voice was raised in panic as you stood and shook.
Apparently Sirius’ voice triggered your other two boyfriends to barrel into the room, but you refused to look at any of them, opting to hold the chicken package behind your back and stare at the ground. James thought you looked like a small child standing in front of a broken glass, ready to be reprimanded and punished. It made his heart ache.
“Baby,” Sirius continued to beg for a response. “What’s happened? You’re scaring me.” Remus placed a soothing hand on his partner’s back while James scooted past the both of them to grab your shoulders and stoop to see your face.
“Hey, hey, hey. Sweetheart, can you look at me?” James spoke softly. He was just as concerned as the other two, but James was better at keeping his head, even though inside he wanted to sob seeing you like this. You swallowed thickly and looked up at him.
“There you go.” Remus whispered encouragement from behind James. Your chest was still heaving and you were still crying, but now they could read your face better.
“I’m sorry. I’m so sorry, I-” You choked out, hoping that if you spoke about your failure early enough they might forgive your mistake.
“Hey, not right now. Just focus on me, honey. I think you’re having a panic attack, I need you to try and steady your breathing.” James motioned the other two over, Remus getting behind you and pulling you both to the ground so he could rock you in his lap. Sirius and James sat and each took one of your hands, James putting the one he was holding on his chest, while Sirius put the other on yours. (After throwing the chicken on the counter, opting to ask questions after you could speak again.) You stifled another sob from wracking your body.
“We’ve got you, sweet girl. Just copy Prongs’ breaths, yeah?” Sirius used his free hand to tilt your chin up to meet the eyes of the two boys in front of you. You could feel James’ chest rising and falling as he took deep, exaggerated breaths. Your first few were shaky and clumsy, but soon you were finally able to get a comfortable amount of air in your lungs and your tears slowed to a stop. You still felt guilty, but at least now your head wasn’t so loud. You pulled your hands back into your lap.
“There you go,” Remus soothed from behind you. “Atta girl.” He pressed gentle kisses all over the side of your neck. You could see the two boys in front of you visibly relax at your now calmer state. “Good girl, you did so well. I know that was scary.” Remus turned so you were sitting sideways in his lap and you could see all three of the boys sitting around you.
“ Thank you for helping.” You said sheepishly, looking down at your fidgeting hands. “I’m sorry I did that, I know it was a lot.”
“None of that.” Sirius said firmly. “It’s not your fault, baby. You didn’t do it to be bad, you have nothing to be sorry for.”
Wrong. You thought to yourself, remembering the spoiled food now sitting on the counter.
“Can you tell us what happened, lovely?” James ducked his gaze to meet yours, his brown eyes were sad and confused and swimming with all too much love.
You really didn’t want to admit your mistake, but they deserved an explanation for your erratic behavior.
“It’s really nothing that bad.” You tried to console, as if you weren’t the one shaking on the floor not two minutes ago. “I was just-” You swallowed hard again. “I was being stupid.” You went back to picking at your nails. Your self-deprecating comment made Remus raise an eyebrow and Sirius lightly pinch your thigh.
“You weren’t. You’re never stupid, be nice.” Remus (lovingly) scolded.
“I was just, I bought this chicken.” You struggled to keep your breathing even. “I bought this chicken earlier this week and I was going to cook it, but I was too lazy these last few days and I fucked up and I-” You bit hard on your lip to keep from crying again. James desperately wanted to reprimand you for your self-cruelty, but he settled for grabbing Sirius’ hand and squeezing, not wanting to cut you off.
“Go on, sweetheart. Take your time.” James spoke even softer.
“I let the chicken go bad. I wanted to cook tonight but when I went to grab the chicken it was bad and I just- I just felt bad because I can’t do anything right. I had all week to make it and now I can’t cook for you all and I just- I just feel bad.” You took another deep breath, still not wanting to meet their eyes.
“Oh, my baby.” Sirius lunged forward, wrapping you in his arms before you could even process what was happening. Remus huffed grumpily over you being stolen from his lap, but let it go. “That’s what you were all worked up about? That’s why you were all scared?” You nodded, your face still stuck in the crook of his neck.
“It’s okay,” James soothed, now smoothing a gentle path up and down your back. “That happens to everyone, sweetheart. It’s not something you need to be mad at yourself for. You didn’t do anything wrong, and you weren’t lazy. You’ve been busy and tired. It just happens.” James thought he could cry, his girl was so hard on herself that she was all panicked over something like this.
“Exactly.” Remus said. “It’s nothing we can’t fix, dove. We can go to the store tomorrow and you can make it then.” You started to protest, wanting to go tonight but you were quickly cut off. “Tomorrow.” Remus was firm, but no less kind. “You aren’t doing any work tonight. You need to rest. We’ll figure something out for dinner, it’s no trouble.”
You were going to argue but you figured it was a losing battle.
“Thought you would be mad at me.You should be mad at me. I fucked u-” You couldn’t even finish the sentence before James squawked, Sirius sputtered, and Remus inhaled sharply. Sirius forced your head out of his neck to look at you.
“What?!” He looked genuinely offended.
“Lovely,” James was the one who formed a full sentence. “We would never be mad at you for something like this. Never.” He grabbed your chin to make you look at him. “Look at us, sweet girl. No ones mad at you. We care about you, not a pack of chicken. It’s not worth you being this mean to yourself, nothing is.” He pouted during the last sentence.
“Also,” Sirius said, still being very gentle. “I’m pretty sure this isn’t just about chicken, dollface. You’ve been really stressed lately.”
“And you’ve been really hard on yourself. You always have been, but it’s gotten worse.” Remus’ voice sounding sad. You knew he was right though.
“I know.” You sighed, dejectedly. “I’ll try to be better.” You gave them all a tight-lipped smile.
“That’s what we mean!” James whined. “You don’t need to ‘be better.’ You just need to be gentle with yourself.”
“It’s just hard.” You admitted.
“I know it is, baby.” Sirius empathized. Then his face morphed into his usual grin. “How about, we all lead by example. I know I can be very nice to you.” He took your cheeks in both his hands and started pressing kisses all over your face. You giggled wetly, trying to squirm out of his grasp. “There, like that. Nice.”
“I don’t know how she is gonna do that, Pads. It’s hard to kiss your own face.” Remus attempted (and failed) to keep the amused tilt out of his voice.
“Oh no!” James dramatically gasped. “I guess we’ll just have to.” He beamed, taking your jaw in his hand to smear even more kisses on your cheeks.

and like sirius used be to be masc one. remus was soft and quiet and submissive. when an angrier characterization of remus became popular (due to atyd, which please note is a characterization i agree with, see my angry remus post) the popular characterization of sirius became softer and more fem. why can't both be masc? why can't both be fem? why can't both be neither? i do not think that irl gay masc/fem couples are reproducing heteronormativity but i do think y'all are

@wolfstarmicrofic September 4 - prompt 4: Muggle [word count 727]
Remus had known it was a bad idea from the start. But it had been the last day of the summer holidays and he knew that in less than twenty-four hours he would be bound for another school year of pining after one Sirius Black with no chances at all, so when Jason had winked at him over the hedge of his parents’ garden he had left aside the book he had been reading and had followed him to the empty building of the village school, where they had as usual climbed up to the abandoned attic. Still, the sheer stupidity of that idea had become evident some minutes before, when he had been rearranging his tie in their crowded train compartment and Marlene had leaned over, her eyes sparkling.
“Is that a hickey, Remus?” she had said, way too loud.
And of course, everyone had turned to look at him. He had felt his cheeks heat up and had passed a hand on his neck, cursing internally the fact he had been too caught up in the moment to tell Jason to not leave visible marks.
“Are you dating someone?” Lily lowered her book and turned to him, beaming.
“No, no, I’m not,” he said quickly. “It was just a summer thing, it’s over.”
He risked a glance at Sirius, who was staring at him with a blank look on his face, his head in Mary’s lap while she was braiding his hair.
“Pity,” Mary smiled. “You’re quite a catch, any girl would be lucky to have you.”
“Or boy,” Lily pointed out.
“Same difference,” Mary shrugged. “Anyone would be lucky to have our Remus.”
“Yeah, we all know that,” Sirius said from her lap.
“So anyway, who was it?” Peter asked over his chess manual.
“Yes Moony, tell us more,” James tossed aside his Quidditch magazine. “Did you break the heart of a witch or wizard who happened to pass by your village?”
Remus sighed, seeing there was no escaping his friends.
“It was just a boy from my parents’ neighbourhood and I told you there were no hearts involved,” he heard Sirius snort at that. “And he’s a Muggle.”
“Of course he is,” Lily nodded, looking back at her book.
“What do you mean ‘of course’, Evans?” Sirius sat up.
“Face it Black, we Muggles are way better than all of you lot in the snogging department,” Lily smirked.
“Damn right we are,” Marlene nodded, high-fiving Mary over Sirius’s head.
“You wound me, Evans,” James dramatically placed a hand over his heart.
“Then my job here is done,” Lily smiled. “Besides, me and Remus have Prefects rounds to do,” she added, getting up.
“Come on, it can’t be true,” Sirius said. “Surely it depends on the single person?”
“I can confirm Muggle girls kiss way better than witches,” Peter piped up.
Remus rolled his eyes and adjusted his Prefect badge on his robes, following Lily outside. But as soon as they had started down the corridor, their compartment door opened again.
“Moony! Moony, wait!” Sirius’s voice said.
“I’ll wait for you in the next carriage, Remus,” Lily rolled her eyes.
Remus sighed and turned around to face Sirius, trying his very best not to let his eyes linger on his lips.
“What?”
“Is it really true?” Sirius asked. “That Muggles are better at kissing than wizards?”
“I wouldn’t know,” Remus gritted his teeth. “I’ve never kissed a wizard.”
“You really haven’t?” Sirius liked his lips.
Come to think of it, the one of the day before wasn’t the dumbest idea Remus had had lately. No, the gold medal would have to go to the fact that without even thinking he reached out for Sirius’s shirt and pulled him closer, for once staring into those silver eyes without blushing.
“Do you want to help changing that?” he whispered.
And as Sirius nodded, he closed the gap between them, finally planting his lips over the other boys’, who made a strangled sound and pulled him even closer.
“You were right,” Remus said, when they came up for air. “It does depend on the single person.”
“I don’t really care,” Sirius panted. “Kiss me again.”
Lily would be angry at him for missing his prefect duties, but Remus didn’t care at the moment. Maybe it wouldn’t be another year of pining after Sirius Black again after all.

“Oh, Merlin, tell me, does THE ALCHEMIST get what he deserves?” He is in THE DEATH EATERS & OPEN to finding out.
— he walks through the world as ;
name → severus snape pronouns → he/him identification → cis male year of birth → september 1959 - september 1960 face claim → viveik kalra blood status → half-blood sexual orientation → up to applicant occupation → potioneer at mr mulpepper’s apothecary in knockturn alley future information → traitor to the death eaters, eventual member of the order of the phoenix
— he is best described as ;
DARK and GLOOMY like that of a closed off lab. The SOLITUDE one finds when alone in their room, a LONER who prefers to get lost in HISTORY than the present day. He’s a SHARP TONGUE poised in defense, ready to FIGHT the threats that come his way. An OUTSIDER who shaped himself to fit in with the crowd. With a COLD HEART, he TURNS his BACK on those who once offered him a hand.
— his story starts with ;
Severus Snape always believed himself to be the smartest person in the room. He was the only born child to a Muggle, Tobias Snape, and a witch, Eileen Prince, who lived in Spinner’s End. From a young age Severus had been a curious boy, preferring the company of books and journals to the children that lived near him. Unusual for someone so young, Severus enjoyed the peace and quiet that came from being alone. No siblings to follow him around, no friends to continuously pull him away from his books, his room became a sanctuary of silence and Severus thrived in it. Despite his mother’s worries that he should start making friends, he stayed put with his abnormally large nose buried deep in his books. Finally realizing her words were falling on deaf ears, Eileen left him to his room, especially as time went by and Tobias grew colder. A man that never saw fatherhood in his future, Tobias spent most of his time in Spinner’s End wasting away with a glass of whiskey in hand. The only acknowledgement he’d give to his family was a scolding for the littlest of things. Severus grew to hate his father and his Muggle side, though he was never brave enough to admit that to Tobias, and instead let the feelings fester year after year.
With his father being the result of his disdain for all things Muggle, Severus leaned heavily into his wizarding side of the family. His thoughts were if Muggles could be this cold and cruel to their own blood, what were they like towards strangers? He enjoyed his sheltered life, not even realizing what else the world had to offer to him. Locked in the four walls of his room, Severus tried to drink in as much information as he could. To Severus, knowledge was power and if yielded correctly, he could do anything. His lonely world changed though the day he met LILY EVANS [former friend/object of affection]. Passing her by chance on the street one day, he extended a rare hand of friendship. A Muggle-born witch, Lily had no knowledge of abilities she possessed, let alone anything of the Wizarding world and Severus was more than happy to fill her in. Normally one to stick to his own devices, the wizard enjoyed the complete awe on Lily’s face as he spoke of magical creatures, wizarding shops, and most importantly Hogwarts. They became inseparable, spending many afternoons sitting by the lake near Lily’s home exchanging stories. Soon enough when September 1st rolled around, they were both boarding the scarlet train to school.
Quickly being sorted into Slytherin, he had to watch from his table as Lily anxiously made her way to Gryffindor, her new house and his rival. The jealousy that flowed through him as he watched her make new friends, unbeknownst to either of them those new friends would become his biggest enemies. The idea of spending their Hogwarts years together came crashing down but Severus distracted himself by befriending his roommates, JASPER AVERY [close friend] and LARKIN MULCIBER [close friend]. They formed a close knit trio, targeting those they deemed less worthy of magic with pranks. Having a rather silent childhood, Severus enjoyed his roommates' company in small doses, often finding his nose back in a book when they weren’t around. His loner attitude is what drew a target on his back to JAMES POTTER [adversary], SIRIUS BLACK [adversary], REMUS LUPIN [adversary], and PETER PETTIGREW [adversary]. Known as the Marauders, they were famous amongst all the students. And Severus could only sit back and watch as even Lily wasn’t completely immune to their charms. Severus could feel his position in her life fading away the closer she got to the Gryffindor boys.
What had started as a curious eye following the boys whenever they approached Lily at the Gryffindor table, it quickly grew to an obsession. James, the Marauders ringleader, was the first one to show signs of dislike towards Severus and his little gang of brothers quickly followed. Words would be exchanged and more often than not spells would follow. Severus truly despised James; he was arrogant and egocentric and Severus had no idea how someone like that could capture Lily’s affections so quickly. Years had put a heavy strain on his friendship with Lily, although they both tried to keep it alive but the differences in friend groups grew too strong. In his spare time, the Slytherin found himself trailing the boys, determined to prove they were hiding something. Never in his wildest of dreams did Severus ever think he’d owe a life debt to Potter. A horrible prank orchestrated by Black to invite Severus along turned into the Slytherin coming face to face with Lupin during his werewolf transformation, a stag being the creature to rescue him from his classmate during the full moon. It wasn’t until meeting with PROFESSOR DUMBLEDORE [former headmaster] that he discovered the stag had been Potter in his animagus form.
The result of the disastrous prank had the wizard keeping his distance from all the Gryffindors, pushing himself into his classwork, excelling in DADA and Potions specifically. Though spell invention was something that came as a surprise to him. The Levicorpus spell had quickly become popular, and not knowing Severus was the creator of the charm, James used it to humiliate him in front of Lily and his friends. That was the day the last thread of their friendship fell apart, not taking into consideration the crowd that had gathered the Slytherin had uttered the horrid word ‘mudblood’ as Lily attempted to defend and help him. Things happened too quickly and the only thing he could remember was watching Lily turn her back on him forever. After that Severus fell further into the crowd of Slytherins, welcoming the invitation from Larkin’s older brother to meet with a wizard known by the name, THE DARK LORD [leader] after graduation. Fueled by how things ended in his last years of Hogwarts with the Marauders and Lily, the Half-Blood wizard signed himself up for the cause.
Having secured a job at Mr. Mulpepper’s Apothecary in Knockturn Alley, Severus had found himself unsure of the cause until he was thrust into the spotlight. His first significant mission had him teaming up with his fellow Death Eaters LUCIUS MALFOY [acquaintance] and REGULUS BLACK [acquaintance] at the Yule Ball of 1983 that had ended in a disaster after they failed to kill the proper target. He was then sent to retrieve a prophecy that had previously failed to get in the Dark Lord’s grasp, from the Fountain of Fair Fortune with Regulus and ALEXANDRA ROSIER [acquaintance]. Thankfully that mission had turned around in their favor and he had been branded with the Dark Mark as a reward. Having been instructed by the Dark Lord to lay low after the Summer Solstice ball, Severus has been busying himself with his work. The potion making is tedious but it has kept his mind occupied to think on the decisions that have led him to 1986. He felt he had been making the right decision in joining these dark crusades at the time but now things have mellowed, Severus was giving more time to think about things and what having this tattoo etched into his arm will mean for his future.

the himboification of james and sirius is an interesting phenomenon, tho. why do we need them to be unintelligent? why do we want them to basically require the guidance of remus (occasionally peter) and later lily to get through life?
i suspect that less people in the fandom can relate to james and sirius than remus, thus james and sirius are flattened and reduced to a sadder version of themselves in order to uplift remus. it's acting out a fantasy, which many people use fandom to do. but other people use fandom for a larger exploration of the self, society, the world at large, so the fantasy is boring and in direct conflict with the analyses they are seeking

wolfstar drabble, 1509 words, fake dating (??)
Remus Lupin is nothing if not a man of his word.
So, when he tells Sirius that he could easily make people believe that he’s dating someone without actually being together, he knows he’s going to make damn sure that he and whoever he decides to enact this bet with makes their time together as believable as possible.
They’re sitting at a table in the Great Hall discussing this topic when James plops himself down with a certain lack of finesse only he could pull off. “Moony, Pads, what’re we up to today?”
He immediately starts piling his plate with whatever food is in front of him, likely hungry from quidditch practice this morning, and Remus turns to Sirius with a raised brow.
Sirius pulls a smile with a scheming edge to it, and suddenly Remus wishes he had kept his mouth shut and not let Sirius goad him into this stupid bet. “Well, Moony over here thinks he’s able to get a girl to agree to be his fake girlfriend and convince everyone in the school that they’re actually dating.”
“Hey, I didn’t say the whole school, just our year. Stop lying, you git,” Remus cuts in, if only to prevent James from getting sucked into one of his and Sirius’ plotting rabbit holes.
“Oh, same difference,” Sirius drawls and rolls his eyes in that elegant manner of his.
James’ interest is clearly piqued at their bet, the food on his plate all but abandoned in favor of getting more information out of his two friends. “Oh? Honestly Moony, I would expect something like this from Sirius, not from you. This is bound to be interesting.”
It’s Remus’ turn now to roll his eyes despite slowly starting to realize that maybe giving Sirius his word about being able to do this might have been a mistake.
“Well I think it’s bloody brilliant,” Sirius says with a wide grin plastered on his face and his eyes gleaming from the chance at causing chaos. “I mean, girls have been lining up all year to get a chance at going on a date with our dear Moony here. This just gives a chance to one of the lucky ladies to experience what it’s like to date him.”
James scratches his head, tilting it in confusion. “If they’re expecting a real date out of him, wouldn’t it be a dick move to do this without telling them about the bet? It seems kind of mean.”
“Oh, you’re right…” Sirius taps a finger to his lips in concentration, and Remus has to make himself look away from his friend when he feels that tell tale blush creeping up his neck.
He doesn’t understand why he’s been so drawn to Sirius recently. Well, okay, he does know, he just doesn’t want to admit it. Having a serious crush on your best friend when he doesn’t even know you like blokes is not a very smart thing to do.
But then again, when has Remus ever done anything smart?
Sirius suddenly claps his hands in triumph, clearly having found a solution to their dilemma. “I’ve got it! Just date one of us.”
James and Remus both promptly choke on their food, the proposal clearly unexpected.
“I beg your pardon?” Remus chokes out.
James looks at Sirius with his eyes unnaturally wide. “You mean one of us four? Like you, me or Peter?”
“What? No. I meant one of us, like one of the girls in our friend group. None of them like Remus as far as we know, and we’re all already friends, so it’s the easiest solution,” Sirius says matter-of-factly.
“What’s the best solution?” Peter says out of nowhere, dropping down beside Remus at the table.
“Hey Wormy, we’re just trying to figure out who the best option is for Remus to fake date.”
Peter stops his process of piling the small sandwiches on his plate, looking at their friends like they’ve all lost their minds. “Is this for a bet or something? Remus, why on earth would you want to do that? You’ve rejected almost every girl that’s asked you out.”
Remus winces a little at that, fully aware of his romantic track record. The girls were all nice, don’t get him wrong, he’s just not interested at the moment. Or emotionally available to date someone who isn’t Sirius. So.
He knows there’s more of a chance for him to find a cure to being a werewolf than Sirius ever considering Remus as someone to date, so he’s left to pine and yearn from afar. Which is fine, truly, but sometimes it just hurts.
He’s sure he could find someone else if he really wanted to, but part of him doesn’t want to lose the dynamic he and Sirius currently have. Even if said dynamic is the cause of multiple 3 a.m. breakdowns behind the safety of his bed curtains when he’s sure no one else is awake.
So, yes. He’s completely fine with everything, and he’ll continue to be fine with everything, so long as it all stays as it is right now.
Sirius speaks up when Remus doesn’t, completely oblivious to his little bout of heavy introspection. “Moony made a bet with me and we all know that he never goes back on his word. So, yes Wormtail, he’s going to find a girl to fake date and try to convince everyone they’re dating.”
“You know what would make this even more interesting?” Peter says as he goes back to filling up his plate, “If you found a bloke to fake date. Now that would be one hell of a thing to convince people about. Might also give all those girls you rejected some closure on why you didn’t want to go out with them.”
All three boys are silent at that, staring at Peter with slack expressions. The boy in question stops when they don’t say anything, looking at them with a raised brow. “What? If this really is a bet between the two of you, why not make it more interesting?”
Sirius and James turn to look at Remus, who once again feels his neck flush with fervor. “I—” he tries to speak, but no words come out of his mouth.
A huge smile grows on Sirius’ face, and Remus knows he’s doomed. “Oh Wormy, you brilliant idiot of a man! That’s it,” he exclaims, “This makes it so much more interesting.”
“Shouldn’t we let Remus decide on if he’s comfortable doing that or not?” James cuts in before Sirius has a chance to start on his rambles, and suddenly all three pairs of eyes are on him.
Remus looks to his friends, his stare lingering on Sirius a little longer before looking away. He rubs his hand on the nape of his neck, suddenly feeling way out of his depth, but pushes on with what he wants to say anyways. “Given that I’m already into blokes, I don’t think I’ll have much trouble with it.”
What.
His mouth snaps shut as soon as he realizes what he just said, wide eyes trying to gauge his friends’ reactions. They’re all looking at him in different levels of shock, but Sirius has a different look to his eyes, almost assessing him in a way.
“Well,” Remus clears his throat, “that was unexpected.”
“You think?” James exclaims, clearly snapped out of his shock.
“Surprise?”
Sirius starts laughing at that, so hard that he bends in half and slumps himself over the table. James and Peter start laughing too, albeit more subdued, and eventually Remus joins too.
Sirius is the first to calm down, James and Peter’s giggles dwindling down as well. “Oh Moony,” he says while wiping the tears from his eyes.
“Yes?” Remus says a bit more wearily now, still unsure about his friends’ reactions to his sudden revelation.
“Oh, don’t worry, we’re surprised but not grossed out or anything. Right guys?” James asks and looks to Peter and Sirius, both of who nod sincerely.
“Definitely not. You’re still our Moony! It’s just an added part of who you are.” Peter pipes up and suddenly Remus feels a bit emotionally overwhelmed.
He looks back down to his plate, a little smile forming on his lips. “Thanks, means a lot.”
A hand closes over his forearm from across the table, and Remus looks up to find Sirius staring at him intently. “My proposal still stands, you know?”
Remus blushes violently at that, not fully believing what Sirius is trying to say. “Wh—What do you mean?”
“That you can do it with one of our friend group? I mean, the girls are out but we still have the boys to choose from,” Sirius explains, and Remus can feel his heartbeat slowing down drastically.
“Oh,” he breathes out, slightly disappointed that his friend didn’t mean what Remus was thinking.
“Or one of us three,” James pipes up, and damn it all, there goes Remus’ heart again. “It might be harder to convince people since we’ve been friends for so long, but I’m sure it’s doable.”

james and sirius definitely loved eating skittles or m&ms or any other coloured candy by sorting their colour carefully, whereas remus just ate them normally and peter gulping down the whole packet at once, nonchalantly.
