he spares a long stare at the bouquet you clutch between your hands, wearing an awfully cheeky grin that's chipping off the scold in his throat. "how many times have I told you this?" he deadpans.

but from the obvious fact that you're holding it. it's not like jamil can do anything about it.

"you don't buy flowers for yourself," he says firmly. I'm supposed to be the one getting them for you. he would like to add.

"they're a waste of madol?" you tilt your head.

he answers immediately. "no, just—" jamil's eye twitches like he's trying his hardest to keep something. "don't,"

perhaps he's being a little too blunt but it makes him upset. is he really messing up in gift giving to the extent where you have to buy something for.. yourself? and jamil is pretty sure gifts are called as such for a reason.

and that they're from, or gifted to another person.

you chuckle in your fist, but he continues to ramble; "also it's hard to care for flowers when you don't know much, i don't want you to—"

"jamil hon, my baby, the apple of my eye, the love of my life, they're for you,"

you say simply, and watch in amusement when his moments stutter before they stop to a complete freeze.

a furious wave of heat crawls up on his back but he's praying frantically. now is not the time. he seethes.

... he just tripped over his words.

jamil reluctantly accepts the flowers after you've finished laughing your ass off, and the only thing in his mind is the love.

okay maybe he should pick up a book about caring for flowers. do they even survive in the harsh conditions of scarabia?

you should've expected this.

despite your arm honestly starting to tremble under the stress of holding it out for about 2 minutes straight now, you still attempt a smile—although strained. wouldn't want sebek to find it an unfriendly gesture.

even though he probably already thinks that anyways.

you don't want to color sebek in a way that shows that his only personality is being suspicious to everyone, and of course. the dearest young master he adores. (seriously though it's a little concerning, and you're kinda jealous.)

sebek stares at the bouquet in your hand with scrutinizing eyes, as if to say non-verbally: 'what is this'.

you sigh when he just stares at it like it's a bomb. "it's flowers." you deadpan.

sebek pursues his lips, looks away before looking back. "I can see that!" he says like he wasn't wearing a face that made you think you had to explain. but he just crosses his arms and falls silent with a huff. "for the young master, yes?'

he pauses. "I can atleast acknowledge your gesture, human!"

was that supposed to be good? you weren't given the chance to explain because he continues again; "though I will have to make sure that these aren't anything the young master is allergic to." he nods to himself, as though proud for being so thoughtful.

your eye twitches. you're a little surprised that he didn't even imply that it could be possibly a bomb inside to try and assassinate them.. but you notice a slight tense-ness to his demeanor.

you know cause he's huffed about 5 times in the past 1 minute, he's looked away and he's very clearly sneaking peaks at your hand.

—then he huffs to himself! then it repeats.

"I will take them to the young master at once!" he announces with his loud volume, stepping forward to grab it from you but you ultimately beat him. you're just praying he doesn't find you 10x more suspicious the moment you had wrenched it back to yourself with surprising strength you didn't know you had.

even he looked surprised!

"no, sebek.." you heave. "they're not for malleus, they're for you."

he didn't have the heart to correct the way you addressed the young master before he dutifully exploded.

he's shaking away from you with a wobbling, agape mouth. he could only open and close them dumbly, not beir capable to let a word out.

you suppose he was too speechless because he didn't even say anything when you happily pushed the bouquet to his chest like nothing happened.

for someone who's most diligent in studying, you'd think riddle would be able to catch on easily on the gist of your actions.

but he just blinks when you hold out your hand. pretty gray eyes trained on the bouquet of red roses in your grasp, then onto your face with inquisitive question apparent with the raise of his brow.

"we have plenty of roses in our gardens." he says, as though like giving him... these is the most bizarre phenomenon in his life.

it seems like he feels the need to add. "we grow them."

you smile, the sweet thing awfully tight on your face. "they're for you," you explain. a little perturbed that you need to in the first place, but it's riddle so you sorta understand?

riddle squints. "why?"

you blank. "like... like a gift, for you? you know. cause I want to."

then as if the slowness of the processing going on in his brain gradually speeds up. it's obvious he's probably realized the implications of your little gift from the jolt, then widened eyes who stare in disbelief.

riddle gulps. "for, me?" he asks stupidly.

your raised brows say yes.

it's almost hilarious when he accepts them gratefully and stares at them like you just sprouted a literal white rose from the ground, wrapped it in some fancy plastic, and then handed it to him with a smile.

silence ensues again. riddle notices, screeches in his head to do something about it except he can't, cause his mind seems to be broken right now and he can't exert any words but a stammer.

and he'd really like to relearn how to speak because you're fidgeting on the spot, clearly nervous by his silence.

"sorry," you chuckle. "um.. it's just red roses, not white, or blue, or pink—"

"no!" he blurts out far too quickly. hands stretched out in the air a little as though reaching out to stop you but then stiffly staying by his side. riddle clears his throat. "I mean... this is... very important to me."

you look like you don't really believe him cause he was going off about roses in his dorm before.

he flushes, away from your gaze. "because its from you."

you can barely see azul.

or gauge out his reaction if it's supposed to be good or bad, because you can barely even see his eyes from all the sudden sheen of white over it. did all the smoke in the room just gravitate over his glasses conveniently or something?

you can spot the joints in his fingers twitching but oddly enough he remains stiff in front of you. uncharacteristically silent, which wouldn't really lead to good things.

"hello?" with your free hand, devoid of any flowers with the power of freezing a person. you wave it in front of his face which seems to have done a pretty good job with snapping him out of whatever trance he's in.

the glasses slip down the bridge of his nose but he fixes them at record speed. admittedly with clammy fingers.

azul coughs. "thank you very much." he clutches them tighter, pursuing his lips.

"I know octavinelle is not the best place for warmer places," he starts and a flash of confusion on your face is something he misses. "but I will manage it and find an accommodation for these, around 34 or 35 degrees."

your brows furrow. what.

"hmm yes... a nice vase, I'll use the most pure water there is." he rants. "then I'll fill it up with two thirds of its container and make sure it lives healthy."

that's... concerning.

"I'll have jade clean it regularly." he says and you're honestly more scared for the flowers. "I cannot trust floyd either so I'll trim it by two centimeters at the right angle occasionally when it dries."

he says all that, with a pink face.

you awkwardly stand there taking in azuls apparent plans on how to ensure the lifespan of your 'thoughtful' gift will be extended as far as he can help in to commerce your honor.

synopsis: you respond to a "what's your type?" question with his name. how does he react?

grim, as always, was nagging you with questions in front of your crush and group of friends. they're all left to their own devices until grim asks, "what's your type?" and the attention of your crush falls on you for your answer.

riddle rosehearts, dorm leader of heartslabyul.

"my ideal type? well, he's red-haired, with grey eyes, whose short and just happens to be the dorm leader of heartslabyul!"

the "ideal crush" in question was as red as his hair. he almost spits his tea out.

you practically confessed to riddle! or at least told him he's the type you're looking for.

riddle looks at you like you've gone mad, not even realizing he's been actively staring at you.

"[name], are you serious?" he questions, calming himself down. you look at him confused.

"why wouldn't i be serious? was my clear description of you, riddle rosehearts, my crush, not enough?"

he still looks at you confused. riddle fully understands, it's just.. you're being so straightforward about it! he can't handle how blunt you're being with your advances.

you sigh, "since you still aren't understanding, i like you riddle. is that clear enough?"

"no, i am not as red as my hair! ugh, yes, [name]. i understood just well. it just took me a while to get used to how blunt you were. but, i guess i could say you're my ideal type too. and i guess i like you too."

trey clover, vice dorm leader of heartslabyul.

"my type's obviously a green-haired, amber-eyes, glasses-wearing, hot baker with a clover on his cheek."

doth trey's ears deceive him? you obviously just described him. he has green hair, yellow eyes, glasses, and a clover on his cheek. plus, he's a baker!

trey doesn't even realize he's stared at you, the tart he made long forgotten on his plate.

you stare at him like you didn't just say he was your type. "um, [name]?" "yeah?"

trey looks at you, takes a deep breath and asks, "do you like me?"

"of course i do, silly! i wouldn't have described you as my type if i didn't."

trey takes a deep breath once again. thank the great seven.

"oh thank goodness. i liked you too but i didn't really know how to approach it. i was gonna make you a (favorite dessert) with "will you be mine?" on it, but i guess i don't have to anymore. oh? i should still do it? well, i guess you'll just have to come over to heartslabyul tonight for a surprise, dear."

cater diamond, heartslabyul third year.

"do you even have eyes? my type is this really cute guy with orange hair, green eyes, a red diamond on his face, a heartslabyul third year and magicam influencer! aka, the hottest guy in the world!"

he squeals. cater lets out a loud, high-pitched, squeal that would be associated with preppy high school girls in movies. people would have noticed if it wasn't for the already loud cafeteria.

he moves to the seat next to you, holding you by your waist.

"[name], do you really like me?" the smile on his face blinds you, but you can see he has a hint of worry in his green eyes. imagine how disappointed he'd be if you were to like some other heartslabyul guy that looked exactly like him.

you lean in, hooking a arm around his neck and using your hand to push his head into your lips. your lips kiss him and you can taste his lime tart and cherry chapstick.

"is.. is that enough to prove to you that i love you?" you pant after the kiss, looking at cater's reddened face.

"haha! that was more than enough, but how about you prove to me how much you love me a bit more, cutie?"

╰┈➤ look at this nerd (affectionate), ofc he plays cubecraft. loved it so much that when he didn’t have the actual game, he would play the really bad knockoffs💀 plays on console so you can sit between his legs, lean back, and game with him. cyno hate the split screen because he always gets confused on what side he’s on so he lets you use his switch, that way you’re both still comfortable. he’s more of an explorer if you do get mod packs for him, likes the horror ones the most. there’s nothing like hitting the enemy or shit talking the thing that could potentially one shot you with your s/o‼️ yall crouch a lot, its like a little dance. he really likes the disc “far” it itches his brain in the right way. definitely downloads the little raccoon mobs but then regrets it because he gives up all his berries to them, look at their little begging arms, literally how can you say no to that?? AND THEY WASH THE BERRIES. you both fall asleep to the ambience and to each others breathing all cuddled up ‘n warm. cyno absentmindedly sings the music while chopping wood or mining that shit has you SLUMPED. he kisses your head when you fall asleep, smiling like a silly goober.

has everything you need for school. pencils, pens, erasers, notebooks, binders, glue, tape, scissors,  you name it, riddle has it.

sorts each subject by color, and color codes all his notes/subjects. do NOT mess up his order! 

has extremely neat handwriting - it’s a bit on the smaller side, but it’s easy to read.

riddle shares his notes with others when they ask him for help, so he makes sure it’s legible and easy on the eyes.

as for stationery in general, he probably doesn’t go too wild. standard neon highlighters, blue and black pens, plain covered notebooks, etc. it’s simple, but it’s good enough for riddle.

overall pretty good taste, a little basic, but everything is of good quality.

literally does not care about stationery. he’s the idgaf king.

he’s that kid who never brings a pencil or pen to class. he barely remembers to bring his notebook too. and he only has one (1) notebook that he uses for everything (he probs doesn’t even take notes in class, he alr knows everything lol).

constantly borrows stuff from ruggie or sends him to buy stuff from sam’s shop. he’s lucky he has ruggie.

he’s the type to take notes in class, then rewrite them later. he sells the rewritten notes to other students for a steep price.

jots down ideas or gossip he hears in the margins of his notebooks. he rarely doodles, but sometimes he might draw things from the coral sea if he’s feeling particularly homesick.

color codes all his notes, but uses more neutral colors as opposed to the standard bright/neons. he also has sea-themed folders or notebooks. 

he's fascinated by what land-dwellers use, as paper/ink typically doesn't last in the sea. he really tries a variety of products and enjoys it a lot! and takes notes for his future businesses

owns sets of matching stationery. coordinates his pencil case with his notebooks and folders. probably a fan of minimalism and deep, rich colors. 

has high-quality pens and uses fancy highlighters to annotate his notes (i’m thinking those midliner highlighters and muji pens). he spares no expense for his tools.

color codes all his notes/different subjects, and has a specific color scheme for each subject. he is VERY particular about his color sorting. do NOT mess his categories up.

his handwriting is elegant and beautiful. he probably practiced and experimented with his handwriting a lot due to his fame (he signs autographs and he wants his penmanship to look pretty for his fans!)

he has pinterest worthy notes. he posts them on his magicam stories occasionally to show them off, and to encourage his fans to study hard too.

his fashionista side bleeds into his stationery choices, so he only buys items that are 1) of the best quality and 2) suited for his image. he does NOT cut corners.

has beautiful, fancy cursive handwriting, but it’s hard for people to read, especially for his schoolmates b/c the younger generation doesn’t really learn cursive anymore. think like... the penmanship of historical treaties or declarations. it's charming and still legible, but you just need a bit of time to be able to read it. 

probably owns and uses enchanted quills passed down from his family. it reminds him of home and he treasures them greatly. when he’s homesick he’ll twirl them between his fingers. 

he used to break a lot of pencils/pens with his sheer magical fae grip. he’s learned how to control his strength a lot better now, but he still prefers his enchanted writing tools. 

he's not used to modern technology, so he gets a kick out of trying novel stationary items as well. this pencil is also a pen, a highlighter, and a flashlight? wowie!

Jamil Info Compilation part 33: Worrying, Flattery and Deuce

Kalim is often commenting that Jamil is a “worrier,” saying that he should take life a little easier.

Jade makes a similar comment, while Floyd says that it is “more like paranoia.”

During Firelit Sky, Najma says that she worries about Jamil: “You put on a real good show of being a decent guy in public, and you do a great job taking care of everything. But you can take silly things way too seriously sometimes, and you can be so stubborn. It makes me worry that you’re pushing yourself too hard.” Jamil insists that he is doing just fine. (It is unclear if Firelit Sky takes place before or after the events of Book 4.)

Jamil is prone to flattering people: When Vargas compliments his flying ability he says “It’s really all thanks to your splendid instruction,” and he flatters “the fairest of them all, Vil Schoenheit” so heavily in a vignette that Vil calls him out on it to his face.

This is possibly the source of Vil’s voice line, “Those who play their cards close to their chest have a knack for distasteful tactics, I find. I’ll need to watch out for Jamil.”

In Book 5 Jamil refers to Grim and the player character as “diamonds in the rough,” saying, “I bow before you, sir…surely you two can find us a solution using your sparkling intellect!”

Much like Vil, Riddle also calls Jamil out on his patronizing flattery.

When discussing suit colors for Lilia Jamil says, “I think you could make any color work,” to his face, but silently reflects, “Who cares about the color? I just want to go to bed.”

Jamil is one of very few characters who has ever seen Deuce in delinquent mode, following him to a forest during Halloween with the intention of intervening when Deuce seems to be getting swept up in a group of Magicam Monsters.

Instead, Jamil witnesses Deuce telling off his former friends for daring to threaten his new ones, leaving Jamil to wonder what it was he just saw.

Jamil and Deuce overlap again during Culinary Crucible, where Jamil talks to Deuce about his mother and impresses him with his knife-handling skills. They meet up briefly during the Wish Upon a Star event as well, when Deuce goes to Kalim and Jamil for their opinions on his dancing.

Deuce has a voice line about Jamil fixing the lace on his Halloween costume, saying, “I guess all vice housewardens are good at looking out for others.”

During New Year’s Jamil brings snacks for Deuce and Kalim while they work at the school store, offering to take over their jobs for them while they eat.

(Deuce usually, strictly refers to all upperclassmen as "last-name-senpai," and he does so with Jamil, as well, when Jamil first appears. After he gifts Deuce with a sandwich, however, Deuce makes a one-time exception to his rule, saying "Jamil-senpai" instead of "Viper-senpai" when he thanks him.)

This is revealed to be a ploy to acquire an “amazing ticket” using Scarabia students that Jamil has employed for the purpose. The students reveal they are working for Jamil, but Deuce does not seem to notice.

Jamil purchases the bag, but they were mistaken: the bag contained meal tickets for special lunches at the cafeteria.

Jamil says he might give the tickets to the students who helped him.

Reader Who’s Scared of Storms

The Spelldrive game that you were planning on going to was canceled due to weather complications. Leona was annoyed since he was prepared and was going to just mope around in the gardens when he noticed you hiding behind some plants. You clearly weren’t expecting a storm to be hitting anytime soon and were grabbing alchemy ingredients when it all happened. Due to the garden area having a greenhouse aesthetic, you could see everything and became scared instantly and crouched down. Leona took five seconds to put two and two together.

He says it’s a stupid fear to have, but he will still pick you up and take you away from his favorite napping spot. He’ll bring you to one of the empty and dark classrooms. It was better than nothing, and you couldn’t really see much of the storm there anyway. He’ll just lay down with you still in his arms, trapped and squished against his body. It’s like a weighted blanket, and you won’t think too much when one of his arms is pressed over your ear as he falls asleep like that. Better to just sleep out the storm than try to stay conscious and deal with it.

If you call him and he picks up, he’ll be annoyed, judging by how it’s the middle of the night. He’ll suggest you just come to Savanaclaw since he is already in bed. Eventually, he’ll give in, especially if he hangs up and you keep calling him. Expect a grumpy lion to be crawling into your bed while telling you how troublesome you are. He’s the big spoon that night, and you’re just gonna have to deal with it. At least he’s warm, and his snoring will block out some outside noise.

Ruggi Bucchi

Ruggie got this far in life by being able to read people like a book. He’s going to notice how tense you are when it begins raining on campus. It’s not even a storm, just rain, but he notices it’s almost like you’re preparing for the first crack of thunder to go off. He’ll be snickering as he comes up beside you and asks if you’re really scared of storms. Don’t act too surprised; it was obvious…or so he says. Once you admit it, he’ll tell you to head inside because your body’s instinct was right, and a storm will blow through in the next hour.

Ruggie is basically a big brother to every little cub where he’s from, so he’s more than used to dealing with people scared of storms. Not to mention his home was never really sturdy, and any small noise could be heard…almost like Ramshackle. So he’ll be trying to make you laugh the entire time, maybe using his signature spell to make you do something silly. He won’t stop until you're clutching your stomach from laughter and more relaxed with the storm.

His ringer is on for you and Leona only, so he’ll receive your text in the dead of night and roll over to read it. He doesn’t even prepare to go over; he just goes. He’ll show up at your doorstep, dripping water and asking for a towel and something warm to drink. Dragging you to the couch with him as he sleepily drinks tea and possibly falling asleep while cuddling with you. If you manage to get to bed, he’s asleep as soon as his head touches the pillow.

Jack Howl

After classes, you were just walking back to Ramshackle when Jack paused and looked off into the distance. That’s when you hear him comment that he hears thunder in the distance and you guys should hurry back to the dorms. Then he’ll see how scared you look and know right away what the cause is. He’s pretty intuitive to you and will offer to go back to Ramshackle with you, so you weren’t deal with it alone. He won’t make fun of you at all; he’s well aware that everyone has to be scared of something. He still sees you as one of the bravest people he’s ever met.

He knows that being picked up can be calming for someone, so anytime there’s a storm, he’s lifting you into his arms and going off somewhere, so you don’t have to worry about stumbling whenever you see or hear something. He’ll be sitting with you the entire time, maybe telling you stories from his childhood or of the great seven. He’ll also offer to watch movies with you, telling you he’ll be staying with you until the storm is over, no matter how long that’ll take.

A good boy who hears a storm rolling in and is preparing to be with you. Ramshackle is more comfortable for you since it’s your home, and he’d rather the people from his dorm not see you in such a frazzled state. He’ll be at your doorstep and be ready to cuddle up with you for the night. He’ll even grab the thickest blanket and throw it over the two of you, hiding under it with you. Even if he overheats a bit, it’s worth it if you can manage to fall asleep.

Other than that, I'd rather point out characters who get the *wrong* kind of attention:

Cater Diamond - He's not just some silly little guy with his silly little phone.

Trey Clover - This man might be "boring" compared to the mentally ill insanity in NRC but oh boy, he's certainly not sane either.

Floyd Leech - "Funny Mood swings go brr", no. Just no.

(Kalim Al-Asim - While his image slowly changes, he's still seen too many times for just being a fun, naive, little guy.)
