BG3 headcanons, companion characters reaction to Tav having their period
I wrote this for my own comfort, so Tav is afab, nonbinary trans-masc. All sfw
Halsin:
Brews herbal teas he knows will help. Sweetens it with honey.
Gathers berrys that have pain-soothing or anti-inflammatory attributes (like rasberries)
Assures Tav that there is nothing to be embarrassed about, and that they are not allowed to think they are holding the others back by resting. Rest is important! And he won't let you continue travelling in pain.
Dysphoria related: Tells Tav about multiple men he treated for period pain, and women he knew that never had periods. Cis, trans, inter, anyway. A period is natural and says nothing about your identity.
Talks about intersex- and trans-animals he knows or surveyed in nature.
Trys comforting Tav by telling them its one of nature's gifts, and sign of bringing life. If Tav is annoyed by that he stops (but maybe will bring it up later again, when Tav feels better and/or their relationships progresses)
Lots of (Bear-) cuddles
Gale:
You wanna be angry about having your Period? Gale is your Man for that. You can rant at him how unfair the world is, and how stupid it is that the body has to go through such pain each time.
He's gonna research the heck out of it. Reading every book he can find on periods, what makes them so excruciating, and how to help with them.
Cooks comforting soups and stews, makes chamomile tea and brings Tav a heated Waterskin
Learns/studys magic for warmth and inner healing
He reads to you. Anything you wanna hear, for distraction and comfort.
Maybe asks Halsin for help
Astarion:
Astarion probably knows before Tav knows, smeeling the blood and noticing the smallest shifts in their body language.
He's gonna be slightly less taunting and provocative as soon as he notices.
He's not gonna ask for his nibble in that time, going hunting for animalblood instead, not wanting Tav to feel even worse with less blood/iron.
Asks Shadowheart if she can perform soothing or even healing magic for Tav.
Tells Tav how handsome they are, if they confide in him with their dysphoric thoughts.
Karlach:
Walking heat-pad
I'll write more another time, right now I'm in a lot of pain and have to sleep a bit. Bb

Tw dysphoria triggers for afab trans and non binary folk (being called femal and woman and stuff) and periods
I got a period tracking app called “period” as in a full stop, its icon is white with a full stop on it. It causes me minimal dysphoria and is really great with not being like “hey you girl woman she/her girlboss are you ready to have your really girly female period?!?!” Like other ones. It isn’t obvious on my home screen and doesn’t really have any gendered parts to it. I think it can also help track birth control but I’m not sure because I don’t use birth control myself (I’m ace and sex repulsed so yeah that’s my birth control) you can also log physical symptoms and keep track of how many sanitary items you used that day. I’ve only had it for a week so idk how the tracking of the cycle works or anything but so far it’s great and I thought I’d share for any other people who get period dysphoria but still want/need to track their period like me.
EDIT: YOU CAN ALSO TRACK TESTOSTERONE DOSES!!! (and estrogen and progesterone doses too!!!)

i am very aggressively protective over nonbinary people who look like they are amab/manly/masc because some of you are very quick to accept nonbinary people who look like they're afab/girly/fem but shit on anyone else.
and stop saying "afab nonbinary" and "amab nonbinary" because we all know you're just treating us like "female" and "male" which, yk is the exact opposite of what nonbinary is meant to be.
treat nonbinary people like nonbinary people, nothing else.

The Forgotten History of the World’s First Transgender Clinic
I finished the first round of edits on my nonfiction history of trans rights today. It will publish with Norton in 2025, but I decided, because I feel so much of my community is here, to provide a bit of the introduction.
[begin sample]
The Institute for Sexual Sciences had offered safe haven to homosexuals and those we today consider transgender for nearly two decades. It had been built on scientific and humanitarian principles established at the end of the 19th century and which blossomed into the sexology of the early 20th. Founded by Magnus Hirschfeld, a Jewish homosexual, the Institute supported tolerance, feminism, diversity, and science. As a result, it became a chief target for Nazi destruction: “It is our pride,” they declared, to strike a blow against the Institute. As for Magnus Hirschfeld, Hitler would label him the “most dangerous Jew in Germany.”6 It was his face Hitler put on his antisemitic propaganda; his likeness that became a target; his bust committed to the flames on the Opernplatz. You have seen the images. You have watched the towering inferno that roared into the night. The burning of Hirschfeld’s library has been immortalized on film reels and in photographs, representative of the Nazi imperative, symbolic of all they would destroy. Yet few remember what they were burning—or why.
Magnus Hirschfeld had built his Institute on powerful ideas, yet in their infancy: that sex and gender characteristics existed upon a vast spectrum, that people could be born this way, and that, as with any other diversity of nature, these identities should be accepted. He would call them Intermediaries.
Intermediaries carried no stigma and no shame; these sexual and Gender nonconformists had a right to live, a right to thrive. They also had a right to joy. Science would lead the way, but this history unfolds as an interwar thriller—patients and physicians risking their lives to be seen and heard even as Hitler began his rise to power. Many weren’t famous; their lives haven’t been celebrated in fiction or film. Born into a late-nineteenth-century world steeped in the “deep anxieties of men about the shifting work, social roles, and power of men over women,” they came into her own just as sexual science entered the crosshairs of prejudice and hate. The Institute’s own community faced abuse, blackmail, and political machinations; they responded with secret publishing campaigns, leaflet drops, pro-homosexual propaganda, and alignments with rebel factions of Berlin’s literati. They also developed groundbreaking gender affirmation surgeries and the first hormone cocktail for supportive gender therapy.
Nothing like the Institute for Sexual Sciences had ever existed before it opened its doors—and despite a hundred years of progress, there has been nothing like it since. Retrieving this tale has been an exercise in pursuing history at its edges and fringes, in ephemera and letters, in medal texts, in translations. Understanding why it became such a target for hatred tells us everything about our present moment, about a world that has not made peace with difference, that still refuses the light of scientific evidence most especially as it concerns sexual and reproductive rights.
[end sample]
I wanted to add a note here: so many people have come together to make this possible. Like Ralf Dose of the Magnus-Hirschfeld-Gesellschaft (Magnus Hirschfeld Archive), Berlin, and Erin Reed, American journalist and transgender rights activist—Katie Sutton, Heike Bauer. I am also deeply indebted to historian, filmmaker and formative theorist Susan Stryker for her feedback, scholarship, and encouragement all along the way. And Laura Helmuth, editor of Scientific American, whose enthusiasm for a short article helped bring the book into being. So many LGBTQ+ historians, archivists, librarians, and activists made the work possible, that its publication testifies to the power of the queer community and its dedication to preserving and celebrating history. But I ALSO want to mention you, folks here on tumblr who have watched and encouraged and supported over the 18 months it took to write it (among other books and projects). @neil-gaiman has been especially wonderful, and @always-coffee too: thank you.
The support of this community has been important as I’ve faced backlash in other quarters. Thank you, all.
NOTE: they are attempting to rebuild the lost library, and you can help: https://magnus-hirschfeld.de/archivzentrum/archive-center/

"Spain’s Catalonia region rolled out a pioneering women’s health initiative [at the beginning of March, 2024] that offers reusable menstruation products for free.
About 2.5 million women, girls, transgender and nonbinary people who menstruate can receive one menstrual cup, one pair of underwear for periods and two packages of cloth pads at local pharmacies in northeast Spain free of charge.
The Catalan government said that the initiative, which is called “My period, my rules,” was meant to “guarantee the right to menstrual equity.” The regional government cited statistics that said 23% of women polled by Catalonia’s public opinion office said they had reused hygiene products designed for a single use for economic reasons.
Tània Verge, Catalonia’s regional minister for equality and feminism, called the program a “global first.”
Scotland’s government passed a law in 2020 to ensure period products are available for free to anyone who needs them. But in comparison with the Catalan program, in Scotland the products are for single use and are distributed through schools, colleges and universities, not pharmacies.
“We are fighting menstrual poverty, which affects one in four women in Catalonia, but is also about gender justice. We are fighting the stereotypes and taboos about menstruation,” Verge told The Associated Press. “And (...) it is about climate justice. We need to reduce the tons of waste generated by single-use menstrual products.”
The distribution of reusable products is also aimed at reducing waste. The regional government said that Catalonia produces about 9,000 tons of waste from single-use menstrual hygiene products.
The reusable products are acquired by the public health care system, which covers the entire population, and distributed by Catalonia’s 3,000-plus private pharmacies. The program cost the regional government 8.5 million euros ($9.2 million).
“I am completely in favor of this initiative,” 29-year-old graphic designer Laura Vilarasa said. “It will give women a product that is absolutely necessary to have for zero cost.”
Spain’s national government passed a law last year granting women with debilitating menstrual pain the right to paid medical leave."

Fuck, I can't wait for ovulation week to be over. I've probably had 7 or 8 orgasms in the last 24hrs already, and still just spent an hour edging.
Rubbing myself raw, over and over, thinking about sinking into someone, their knees pushed over my elbows, bending them in half. Their hands and neck pulled back and tied to the bed so they can't move without choking themselves a little, giving me full access to their chest and neck so I can lick, bite and suck at every inch of them.
Pushing my dragon strap deep, hitting their gspot and their cervix with every thrust. Pistoning my hips in an out, trapping a hitachi between us. Right over their clit, at full power. Pounding them for dear life and telling them how pretty they sound, how gorgeous they are, how I love the taste of their skin, what a good puppy they are with their tongue sticking out, all dumb and needy and crosseyed. Gasping and moaning, drinking in their little squeaks and squeals straight from their lips. Peppering their face in kisses, telling them how amazing they feel for me, so tight, so warm, so wet. How I'm gonna fill them with my come, breed them till they're bursting. Over and over, till it takes. That they are the most beautiful thing I've ever seen, a miracle on earth, mine, mine, mine. Till I feel their abdomen tightening, hole clenching, babbling and sobbing and begging. I press in further and pummel them faster, harder, for everything I've got, calling them precious, my good toy, my perfect darling and "yes, sweetheart, come for me, come for me baby, let go, sing for me angel, come, keep comi-" as they scream, and thrash and fight for their breath like a man drowning.
And I keep going, making them loose control and gush all over us, wand still buzzing, they're screeching hellish sounds. The holiest music to my ears. I keep them there, coming and coming, again and again. Till they can't make a sound, or open their eyes, they can barely breathe, slumped down in the bed. An absolute mess, devastatingly lovely.
So I let go slowly, pulling out and removing the wand as gently as I can. Setting them to rights, massaging their aching muscles, and rolling them away from the filthy puddle in our bed. Holding them close, kissing their hair, giving them water. Telling them how good they were, how well they did, how perfectly they took it, how beautiful they look, how I adore them, how much I love them, and that I can't wait to do it all over again.

hello! do you think you can write a afab reader x genya comforting her while she endures her period? a short drabble is all I really want if more than it’ll be appreciated! :)
Tumblr media
Idk what to title this 🧛
Tumblr media
genya shinazugawa x afab!reader
if i had a nickel for the amount of period comfort request i got in the last week it would be two nickels, which isn't alot but its funny it happened twice
Tumblr media
In the first two days Genya does not want to bother you during your period.
He heard from some of the older demon slayers that it should be better to give people space during their period. Especially due to their emotions being in a more fragile state. Kym’s best to give them the space they need to reevaluate before reaching back out to them. On the other hand Genya’s words can be blunt without him realizing it and the last thing he wants you to do is be mad at him.
So he gives you his space.. for a little while.
He was primarily raised around males, and when he was in the corps he did not have the strength to even approach somebody about such a private issue. So he only really had the basic knowledge and all the rumors he hears around the corps. He just knows ur feeling bad and in pain during this time of the month and you need space. Shinobu has to be the one to tell him he should check in on you, in person for him to consider it.
He walks up to you doorstep of your room as he can't bring his eyes to look anywhere except his feet. He slowly knocks on the door as he can hear you shuffle around the room before you open it. He turns his head away and shoves a bag in your face with a little note that says, "Kocho told me these would be useful for you during your 'time of the month' i hope they are off some use to you." You can only stare down at the bag for a minute before you invite Genya inside.
He's more surprised you were so willing about letting him in, especially after the rumors and gossip he heard about a couple days before. Nevertheless Genya still believes its right for him to treat you, kocho said you may still be going through cycles of pain so it's the least he can do for you. He starts up some tea, specifically the kind gyomei told him that relaxes the muscles and returns to you who is already back in bed.
he sits on the end of the bed slowly and hands you the tea, making sure you don’t burn your hand near the rim. His hands subconsciously go to rub circles on your back as you sit up, only hesitantly pulling back once you finally lay back down. You both sit in silence for a moment, a comfortable silence but silence none the lesson. Genya looks unnerved as he stares out the window.
“You are positive you are not dying, yes?” Genya blurts out as you turn to stare at him, he does not make eye contact with you out of embarrassment. You almost laugh, almost but you hold it on for his sake. “Yes Genya I promise you I’m fine.” You reply, it soothes you seeing how is shoulders fall down and his body begins to relax. He shifts as you both begin to talk, unsure of the right thing to say about a topic he still doesn’t really know.
He gets up after seeing your nearly finished with your tea, planning to refill yours and to give himself some clarity. Before he can, your voice puts him to a stop, “would you stay with me? Just for a little while” he freezes before turning back to you. You can tell by his facial expression he wants to say ‘really?’ but no words come out of his mouth. You only nod at him before seeing a small smile appear on his face.
He shuffles back over towards your bed as you open up the blanket to let him in. He hesitates but slowly gets into bed with you. Subconsciously his arm wraps around you to bring himself closer to you, as a warm smile appears on your lips. “Ok, I’ll stay.” He mumbles as he watches you slowly drift off to sleep.

Requests open!
Started; June 14th
Finished; June 15th
~~~
Tumblr media
It was your least favourite time of month, you had just gotten your period that morning and had spent the rest of the day curled up in your shared bed. Unfortunately for you, Nadia was out and about in town today. You didn't want to make her aware of your situation because you knew that she would drop everything to be by your side. Catering to your every desire. As nice as that sounds, and as much as you'd love it, you know the Countess has responsibilities that she can't neglect. No matter how much you want her to.
At some point, you'd fallen asleep. You don't even remember closing your eyes but the next second you're being woken up by the soft feeling of fingers trailing through the threads of your hair. Slowly opening your eyes, you see Nadia curled up in bed beside you. Her gaze full of concern and wonder, wondering why you were in bed so early into the afternoon.
"My love?" Nadia's voice is soft, a soothing balm to the aches in your lower stomach.
"Mm," you could only give her a whine in response, adjusting yourself to be further pressed into her. Burying your face into the Countess's chest. Hands sliding to her back and gripping the soft, elegant fabric that covered her.
This action concerned her further. Sure, you were quite cuddly when it came to the Countess. But you weren't usually... whiny. However, it didn't take her long. Nadia's been with you long enough to recognize the signs, even if it takes her a moment," is it that time of month?" She asks, her thumb brushing the skin of your cheek. Your little nod was all the confirmation she needed.
Nadia made a soft sigh, adjusting the two of you to make you a little more comfortable against her. Pulling the sheets over both of you and holding you close. Her fingers trailed along your back, drawing gentle, meaningless patterns into the fabric that covered you.
"Nadia... stay?" You asked, you weren't exactly sure what time it was after your nap, so you didn't know if she had other duties to attend to still. Though, you hoped Nadia was done for the day and could spend the rest of it with you. Cuddled up in bed as if the rest of the world wasn't there.
"Of course, anything you like." Nadia murmured, her lips brushing the top of your forehead in a soothing kiss. Sure she still had a few things left to do that afternoon, but none were as important as you.
