Witch Note: You Are the Spell
You don’t always need a candle.
Or a crystal.
Or the right moon phase.
You are the spell.
Your breath, your heartbeat, your intention — that’s ancient magic.
When you cry into your tea, when you hum while cleaning, when you light a candle just because it comforts you… you’re casting.
When you daydream about a better life, a softer one, a wilder one — you’re already calling it in.
Not every spell needs incense and Latin.
Some just need your presence. Your truth. Your spark.
Don’t forget that.

Take Notes Like Stag Part 1: Spirit Encounters
Part 2: Unrecorded Entity Note Taking Exercise Part 3: Spell "Lab Notes" Part 4: Signs & Omens I think I've mentioned before that I studied witchcraft and folklore academically in college, but I don't know if I've ever made much of a deal out of the fact that I did so as part of a major in Cultural Anthropology. I learned a lot about different magical practices in those specific classes and I still use much of what I learned, but what I learned back then that I use the most didn't come from one of the magic classes, it came from the prep class for the original anthropological research I had to do for my thesis. In that class I was taught how to conduct anthropological interviews and how to take notes on those conversations. Over the years I have developed those anthropological interview notes into a template that I use for every encounter I have with an incorporeal entity. This template is very simple: 4 broad categories that I sort my thoughts into and some examples of what kind of notes I put into each category. I use this format to take notes on all of my spirit work encounters, regardless of the type of spirit - one page of my binder per encounter, and then I can keep all of the pages for a particular entity together in chronological order.
Impressions: Initial notes on an encounter.
How did the entity present themselves?
How did they look/ sound/ make me feel in the moment
What did they say/ how did they communicate
Reflections: How do I feel about the encounter after the fact
How does the encounter sit with me now that I’ve had some distance?
How do I feel about how the entity treated me/interacted with me?
Emerging Questions: Questions I have based on this encounter
Was there anything from the encounter that I feel might have been symbolic/metaphorical?
Do I have any follow up questions about the actual conversation/message? Ie: was anything unclear to me, do I need to clarify anything?
Are there questions/trains of thought that I need to go research or divine on further?
Future Actions: What do I think I need to do next?
Did the entity give an “action item”/ something they want or expect me to do? If so, list them here.
Is there something I want to do before I communicate with this entity? If so I also list them in here.

⋆ Energy & Cleansing ⋆
Tumblr media
Energy in humans is just like a small orbit around planets, protecting us and showcasing inner world.
There is an aura which can portray our emotions per to say when someone is sick or generally depressed with bad mental health, there is grey or black color surrounding them. Energetic field gets "tainted" with colors regularly, but there are dominant ones as in ones present long term.
Generally talking about energies we can influence them with a lot of things: sigils, talismans, jewelry, crystals, magic or simply a belief in something or someone. All those things also influence people in bad ways too if it is poorly executed or for example black magic is bad and affects energetic field and people in a bad way, while white magic is good and affects people in positive way.
Energy is also the vibe we get from other people, such as each one of us having placements in our natal charts so astrologically we are gemini per to say sooo we have that younger than their actual age look and behavior as well as weird pattern or colors in clothes regularly. Energy can be explained is so many ways and many things affect it, it is our duty to regularly cleanse ourselves and protect our field so it won't affect when other people do something.
If we cleanse ourselves and protect our energy then no negative energy can influence us, such as evil eye, magic, curses etc and if it does it is easier to contain "side effects".
One of the ways I love protecting and cleansing myself;
I start it by airing out house every morning and cleanse it with palo santo, then after other things I resolve I go and shower with a pinch of salt to cleanse my energy and I cleanse my black tourmaline crystal. As I get ready and all I speak out in mirror that I am protected, respected and beautiful in eyes of other people etc. I meditate with my crystal and envision energy flowing from within me and slowly surrounding me. I energetically imagine how protected I am and I write on my forehead 444 after I imagine a big burst of energy coming from my head and coming out, which means I cleanse my thought and protect my energy, as well as crown and third eye chakra.
•❃°•°❀°•°❃•
Same way with cleansing I sometimes I envision energy circulating within me and cleansing stabilizing my chakras from crown to root and from root to crown chakra. As I balance and cleanse them and breath in lots of air I exhale bad energy. I hold citrine on top of my head and fill myself with optimistic thoughts and positive energy.
There are for sure many things you can do and experiment with, but you gotta always cleanse and protect yourself, and things I wrote above are really useful as they can be done before any kind of witchcraft practice. We can cleanse, stabilize and protect ourselves before going on further with other practices.

We should have met meph much sooner in game. <3 his hating ass
One of the things I like so much about Mephisto is that his existence along with Astaroth and uhh Lucifugous (?? i think that was their name) is referenced pretty early on in the game. That's definitely one of the highlights of seasons 1 and 4 to me: That the world (and RAD specifically) feels full of other people (demons?) that our cast interacts with (And in Satan and Asmo's cases, are even friends with). I talk about this more briefly on my main but this is defo one of the reasons that Mephisto stands out to me and is one of the characters I really really like in concept (In practice I like him as well but ESPECIALLY in concept I mean) like he just goes here!! There are people here that aren't on the student council or hosting exchange students and have other stuff going on in their lives !! Anyways yes we love Mephisto on this blog. He's walking around proving that Lucifer sucks. He has better hair, is a better older brother, is more pleasant and safer to be around, and has more friends than Lucifer ever will. By nature of this being a Lucifer hate account this is in part a Mephisto (and Belphie and Satan and Luke) stan account.

she has fangs and claws and is wearing the skin and antlers of a deer she ripped apart with them. a child is perched on her shoulders, eating a heart. she helps her venerable great aunt walk like a loving niece. she’s covered in dirt and has blood running down her chin, between her tits, down the inside of her leg. if you run in her presence no magical law will stop her from killing you. the prey fear she invokes. powerfully strong. one titty out in the cold north wind. she grabs ame’s chin in the crook of her index finger and thumb, and asks to see her teeth, and sticks her head deeply in her mouth. she offers her own, because she wants ame to know how strong she is. (and ame looking in her eyes for a long time with flickering glances) her musk smells like electric death!! she was going to try and lick ame’s nose!!!

Take Notes Like Stag Part 4: Sign & Omens
Part 1: Spirit Encounters Part 2: Unrecorded Entity Note Taking Exercise Part 3: Spell Lab Notes
I am a firm believer that signs and omens are one of the least reliable ways to communicate with an incorporeal entity. If I want to talk to one of my spirits I would much rather sit down and have a divination session, or travel to the Otherworlds to have a direct conversation with them. But I acknowledge that signs and omens can be a useful tool for a spirit to use to get our attention, it's something they can initiate unprompted, and it just relies on our pattern recognition abilities and intuition. However good note taking can help us determine when a feather is just a feather, and when 5 feathers in a row is a sign. This is the note taking template I use to record sightings of things I see out in the world that I think might possibly be a sign from a spirit.
Date: The date that the potential sign or omen was spotted
Description of Sighting (or sketch): What did I actually see/encounter. I try to be as precise and descriptive as possible.  Not only what I saw but where exactly it was and in what context, what did it make me think or feel when I initially saw it.  Why do I think this thing is a sign/omen. If I can sketch what I saw I will.
Requested?: Was this a specific sign I requested of a specific entity? If I put “yes” here I usually put less detail in the “suspected” fields later on.
Variations from Request: If I believe this was a requested sign did it deviate in any way from what I specifically asked for?  Did I ask to see three rabbits and got four? Did I ask for a blue flower and get one that was maybe a bit more purple?
Suspected Source: What entity do I suspect might have sent me this sign?  Why? Did I see an animal that is sacred to an entity in a place where such an animal is unusual? Did I see a symbol I associate with an entity in an odd place with no explanation for it being there.
Suspected Meaning:  What do I think this sign means? Why do I think it means this?
After my initials notes I usually do some follow up work: some divination, some research, etc. I don't want to assume that my initial suspicions are correct, so I try to run down any leads I have and confirm or deny my suppositions.
Follow Up Fields
Verified Source: Once I’ve done some divination, some journeying, some connecting with my entities, etc. and have confirmed that I did in fact receive a sign from someone I update this field with who I’ve verified has sent it.  Or if it turns out that what I saw wasn't a sign, which is always a possibility, I'll enter N/A.
Verified Meaning:  Similar to verifying the source I like to verify the meanings of the omens.  It’s not uncommon for me to be completely wrong about what an unrequested one means.  Again if it turns out this wasn't a sign I'll enter N/A, unless I choose to interpret the sighting as a personal sign, then I'll work withing my own personal symbolism to determine what I might be trying to clue myself into.
Dates of Repetition: If the the sign has been repeating itself while I've been researching I'll add the dates and additional notes about each re-occurrence here.
Dates of Related Signs: If I think I've received other signs that are related, but not the same sign repeating itself, I'll start a new entry for the new sign be reference the date in this field so I can easily look up the other entry.

🪐Court Card Astrology🪐
Tumblr media
In astrology-inspired Tarot, each court card has specific associations with astrological signs and degrees within the zodiac. This adds nuance to the personality, motivations, and experiences represented by each card. The court cards—Pages, Knights, Queens, and Kings—correspond to elemental qualities (Fire, Water, Air, Earth) and specific signs, creating unique astrological "personalities" for each card.
Here's how it breaks down:
PAGES
The Messengers and Seekers
Tumblr media
The Pages are often connected with the mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces), representing exploration, learning, and adaptability.
Page of Wands: 20° Sagittarius - 20° Capricorn (transitioning from Sagittarius’s adventurous spirit to Capricorn’s ambition, from fire to earth)
Page of Cups: 20° Virgo - 20° Libra (from Virgo’s thoughtful analysis to Libra’s relational harmony, from earth to air)
Page of Swords: 20° Gemini - 20° Cancer (Gemini’s curiosity flowing into Cancer’s intuition, from air to water)
Page of Pentacles: 20° Pisces - 20° Aries (Pisces’s dreams shifting toward Aries’s action, from water to fire)
Pages signify new ideas and early stages of development, reflecting mutable signs’ open-mindedness and changeability.
KNIGHTS
The Adventurers and Warriors
Tumblr media
The Knights are linked with fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius), embodying determination, stability, and intense focus.
Knight of Wands: 20° Scorpio - 20° Sagittarius (from Scorpio’s intensity to Sagittarius’s expansion, from water to fire)
Knight of Cups: 20° Leo - 20° Virgo (Leo’s passion softened by Virgo’s service and humility, from fire to earth)
Knight of Swords: 20° Capricorn - 20° Aquarius (Capricorn’s ambition blending into Aquarius’s vision, from earth to air)
Knight of Pentacles: 20° Taurus - 20° Gemini (Taurus’s steadiness giving way to Gemini’s curiosity, from earth to air)
Knights bring a strong will and a questing nature; their association with fixed signs reflects their commitment and drive in pursuing their goals.
QUEENS
The Nurturers and Masters of Their Element
Tumblr media
The Queens align with the cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn), showing leadership, nurturing, and initiation within their element.
Queen of Wands: 20° Pisces - 20° Aries (from Pisces’s sensitivity to Aries’s courage, from water to fire)
Queen of Cups: 20° Gemini - 20° Cancer (Gemini’s sociability flowing into Cancer’s deep empathy, from air to water)
Queen of Swords: 20° Virgo - 20° Libra (Virgo’s analysis blending into Libra’s diplomacy, from earth to air)
Queen of Pentacles: 20° Sagittarius - 20° Capricorn (Sagittarius’s wisdom blending into Capricorn’s practicality, from fire to earth)
Queens signify a mature, nurturing energy with strong initiation traits, embodying cardinal signs’ strength to guide, care for, and lead.
KINGS
The Rulers and Visionaries
Tumblr media
The Kings often correspond with the elements of the signs they represent, showing mastery, wisdom, and authority.
King of Wands: 20° Cancer - 20° Leo (Cancer’s intuition fused with Leo’s charisma and leadership, from water to fire)
King of Cups: 20° Libra - 20° Scorpio (Libra’s diplomacy blended with Scorpio’s depth and intensity, from air to water)
King of Swords: 20° Capricorn - 20° Aquarius (Capricorn’s ambition evolved into Aquarius’s visionary ideas, from earth to air)
King of Pentacles: 20° Aries - 20° Taurus (Aries’s initiative grounded in Taurus’s practicality, from fire to earth)
Kings represent wisdom, authority, and mastery over their element. They embody both the drive to lead and the experience of managing complex energies.
Summary of the Court Cards’ Astrological Role
The court cards each hold a unique blend of elements and astrological degrees, which adds depth to their meaning. The Page seeks, the Knight quests, the Queen nurtures, and the King rules. Their linked degrees and signs add specific traits, making each court card not only a personality but a journey through the zodiac's energies. This way, the court cards reflect human development through stages, each marked by astrological qualities—exploring, stabilizing, nurturing, and mastering the self and the world around them.

When it comes to "black books" (I see the internet has taken to calling them that now?) / grimoires / journals: I see a lot of prompt lists around and rarely any explanation on why these things should be in your book in the first place.
Prompts are nice, they serve some purposes. They can be useful when you're starting out and you need an idea of what even goes in here. The kind of contents that a book may have and how different people use it differently. It may also give you ideas of things to try or to research when you're further down the path. But truly, my best advice is to keep separate records, one for things that you may find useful at some point (or found inspiring or interesting in some way) and another, separate record for things that you have actually done. That you have tested and tuned to work for you specifically.
Having huge collections of spells and rituals looks nice and all, but really, in my experience, not two situations are the same and thus not two situations call for the exact same recipe, ever. You can have a thousand recipes and still have nothing that will fit your situation. Knowing how to build and adapt your own working rituals is more useful than a billion recipes from dubious sources that you haven't even fact-checked, looked into in some depth and tried by yourself, in your own way.
Your collection of ideas may give you inspiration on what to add or try this time around, act as a sort of creative board, and help you figure out what may fit this situation better, what you may want to try or add to your arsenal, but the best results will always come from fine tuning and adapting past successes, from your own record.
Sometimes prompts only give you ideas or concepts without any context. Sometimes you find "recipes" online. Not every recipe you find is going to be complete, and not every recipe you find is going to be workable as presented. Even if they were, they could be perfectly workable and tuned to the person who shared it... and make no sense to you, and do nothing for you. This is where knowing yourself and knowing how to make your own stuff comes into play. Know what works best for you, and why, and use that to figure out how to adapt this idea to your wants, needs, strengths and weaknesses.

So I kind of just realized that I might've lost the fixation I had for Detective Grimoire, a special interest I've had for like 2 years and a half, to The Crucible. The Crucible by Arthur Miller. One of the books I read in English class.
I feel terrible but I legit can't even cry about it, not just cause I don't have the tears to cry about a past fixation that no longer gives me the adrenaline it used to, but because I lost it to something somehow more niche and stupid.
Fuck my English class nerd life
