Period Dysphoria

I hate being a trans masculine guy not being on hrt yet, cuz I hate having a period. My periods make me feel so dysphoric and literally sick, I literally get sick, very nauseous on shark week, and sometimes even dizzy. Man, I might have PoTS too, because my ADHD med gave me PoTS like symptoms too.

Just want to rant about this :/

THIS. maria was just hella unloyal to rhett, the writers wrote her horribly and i will never forgive them for that because her character had so much potential and was played by an amazing actress. WHY ARE YOU JUDGING THIS MAN FOR WANTING TO STAY AND PROTECT HIS FAMILY, and only when he won the rodeo she decided "hm, maybe he is worth it after i hated on his brother and his morals". also their hookup scenes were so weird, like hello you guys argued and you see him from across the bar and you suddenly dig that? GET OUTTA MY HALLWAY!!!

Short version: I love found family

Long version:

Eda, King, and Luz. The original three. One a witch, one a titan, one a human. Maybe King and Eda have always been close, since Eda found him on that island. But the progression of the three's bond throughout the series made me cry when I thought about it. It starts out as Luz just being a random human, a pawn they use to get back King's crown. Then Luz decided to stay, and it's quite clear Eda doesn't really care at the start. You can see how she clearly ignores Luz's wishes. But you see as season 1 goes on, Eda starts caring for her wellbeing and starts actually bonding and caring for Luz. But you really only see the full extent of Eda's newfound care for Luz in Agony of a Witch. Eda goes to save /her/ human from Lilith, despite knowing the dangers, despite knowing it was a trap, despite knowing her curse is getting worse and worse. And as her curse takes over, she thanks Luz. For being in her life. Luz fights ferociously to save Eda, stopping at nothing to save her Boiling Isles mom. Season 2, episode 1 Eda states that she uses the money they have to get special food for Luz instead of her apple blood, which she is shown to stop at nothing to get. You see the three's bond grow so much in season 2. Luz helps King through his identity crisis, and tries her very best to help him figure out who he truly is. At the end of season 2 Eda's concern for her two children is so great, she just wants them to be safe. They shouldn't have to go through this, since they are just children. But Luz is so desperate to help, to fix her mistake, to redeem herself for her part in this horror. In Clouds on the Horizon you can see Luz's concern for Eda and her plan. Both King and Luz are terrified, because Eda talks like she may never come back. After the Day of Unity when the Collector is taking King you can see just how desperate Luz is to save her found family, her brother and her mom, she wants so badly to save them, just to make sure they are okay. You can see how emotional both are, King thanking Luz, then for her wellbeing shoving her through the portal. Throughout Thanks to Them you can see all of that sadness and want and guilt well up in Luz, not even knowing if her owl mom and little brother are alright. Then, there is Watching and Dreaming. When they all reunite, they are so happy, just so thankful to see the others okay. Then there is the battle with Belos. Eda and King can only watch, as Luz saves the Collector from Belos. Which kills her, and she can't even get the words to tell them as she fades away. In the in-between realm, her inner thoughts say she should have thanked them. Just as they had to her. The absolute fury and anger from Eda and King is insurmountable. They went from a ragtag group, to a family. A true family. Their anger is so great they shift to forms we never have seen or see again, only showing themselves in their absolute despair over Luz's death. When Luz is revived their extreme joy and relief is so great, and it shows.

I realize i'm jumping the gun here, but let me just get this post out of the way: I hate April Fool's Day. I hate pranks. If anyone so much as tries something on me (either in person or in real life), I will be agitated all day. Even if tumblr does something cute (like that booping thing again), I'm probably gonna spend an hour or two sulking and grumbling. Because unexpected things are annoying, and I just want to hit something when they're thrust upon me. So April Fool's is not a holiday i'm excited for, and please don't anyone do anything too creepy. If it's harmless and positive, fine. I'll probably still be grumpy, but I'll get over it. If it's uncomfortable...well, then my day would be ruined. So i'm preemptively making this post.

Me when a former acquaintance cuts you off for a witch hunt callout post made on you YEARS ago that said acquaintance forced you to show them said callout post (I was very uncomfortable with that cuz I knew they would pull what they did) with the cost of our friendship (??) and promised would still be there and not judge

But then months later comes and victim blames you for what happened in the callout post, saying they can't be associated with me anymore because of the "mistakes" I made (even though they even said in the same sentence I was tricked, coerced and bullied into that position)

[Trigger warning: Poor hygiene - not showering or brushing teeth, mental health related issues, and swearing]

My mother has been chewing my ass (it’s something we say in the family when someone is getting onto us a lot and it’s annoying but continuing onward) about taking a shower and brushing my teeth for the past two weeks and I just now had the motivation to do it. She just glared at me giving me a side eye. Woman, I can’t control my allergies or seasonal depression, or even depression in general.

She’s a firm believer that you need to pray away the issues and God will save you. I’ve tried for so long in my life to “fix” myself so she could actually like or even love me like she did my other siblings. She doesn’t really believe in “depression” like if that didn’t exist explain how my grades would drop down to a 6% then back up again to an 89 or 92% when I “magically” got better? She would just say every time they dropped that I’m not trying or I’m doing it on purpose.

It just annoyed me so bad like mom please, I need help and I asked for help so many times and you always told me you were busy. I was a 15-17 year old child getting gray hairs in high school that didn’t have any social skills because fucking covid ruined that for me in my freshman year. I’m still not better.

I want to try out my dad’s profession and he said it could be good for me to gain some social skills and hopefully some confidence. He knows that I lack both of them so he thinks enlisting will be a great opportunity for me to meet new people. He says he’ll be there for me every step of the way and I truly can’t thank him enough for his support.

He’s been my support system since the start so, this upcoming Friday I’m going down to the recruiting office to take another practice test or the actual test.

I somewhat blame a lack of reading comprehension/media literacy on part of boiling the goal of reading down to 'getting points' by taking 10-20 question quizzes which test on minor, inconsequential details of what you just read. (At least here in the States this is a real thing).

Doing this as opposed to, let's say, teaching students about comprehending the overall meaning, themes, ideas, etc. Like sure maybe you can pass your quiz on 'what happened' but did you comprehend it? Could you pick apart the book or are you just listing the details? Are you taking/remembering snippets out of there context? Or did you understand the causes and effects of each part of the whole? How did any of it make you feel? Think? Experience?

Theres other things, for sure, but I just wonder how much a quiz based reading life affected a lot of peoples interactions with literacy as a whole.

ok im going to #seriouspost for a second here. I don't think Harry Potter is a manifesto. I think it was a flawed passion project that millennials latched onto because of the fantasy of sticking it to their mean teachers and arbitrarily categorizing themselves (hogwarts houses; it's the thinking millennial's astrology). I think the fact that the series got popular when and how it did was very much a product of its time.

I don't think Harry Potter is the biggest symbol of JKR's bigotry. I think the most flagrant sign of that was how she responded to critics. I watched her become radicalized in real time. I watched how she doubled down on her racism when she was called out for the ways she promoted her tragically mid fantastic beasts movies. I watched her chase marginalized teenagers with a double digit follower count off of twitter for daring to criticize her thought process, and no one with any kind of power standing against her because she was the one who was paying them. This isn't to say Harry Potter is without flaws. This is to say she really didn't give a shit about that. Getting rich and powerful is a hell of a drug, and she had enough sycophants that she had no reason to care about what her critics were saying.

She was convinced that she was a martyr; a voice for the unheard; a leader for the ages, so of course her detractors were the bad guys. And I think we should take this to heart. We should see this as an example of how easy it is to get radicalized; if you think of yourself as a paragon of virtue, you are going to think that whatever you see as good and right is an objective fact. Most people don't know this, but the majority of terfs start out as trans allies. You are not immune to propaganda! You are not immune to falling into dangerous ideologies!!!

This is why the most important thing you can do as an activist is to listen. Do NOT think you're above being wrong; do NOT develop a god complex; do NOT form an identity out of being right all the time. Involve yourselves in the groups you claim to speak for. Listen to trans women; share resources that help trans women; familiarize yourself with the diversity of experiences that trans people have and the struggles they face.

No, none of you are as bad as JKR because you don't have her money or her power. You will likely never have the capacity for harm she does. But check yourselves. Do not affirm yourselves into thinking you always have the moral high ground. Watch yourselves; humble yourselves; check yourselves for signs of cult behavior and internalized prejudice. You are always learning. You will always be learning. Do not allow yourselves to get a power trip from brushing off marginalized voices.

okay it’s come to my attention that absolutely NONE OF YOU know ANYTHING about how cutie marks work. let me say this simply. a cutie mark isn’t a job being assigned, it’s a special TALENT OR SKILL that the pony enjoys. Most of the time it has a directly transferable job for that skill, like if you enjoy baking and are super good at it WOW! baker. If you are really good at writing and telling stories, author. However, there are some cutie marks that could go multiple ways.

twilight sparkle has exceptional magic ability, so she became a scholar, but she could really do anything that required a good magic skill. same with rainbow dash, her weather controlling job isn’t directly linked to her cutie mark, but it does fit the bill for the job.

i was posed the question of what would a murderer pony’s cutie mark be and wouldn’t everyone know. NO. if somehow murder were to be a special skill, the cutie mark might be something like a knife or a shovel. other ponies might just assume you’re good at cooking or gardening. now with cutie marks like apple jacks, their family has a ‘green thumb’ kind of deal so obviously the cutie mark would be hereditary.

so, the reason i made this post. walter white pony’s cutie mark would NOT be blue crystals. it would be a CHEMISTRY FLASK.

Ok so, I just remembered how people in the comments of a tiktok video were being assholes, and I want to rant now :3

The video showed two wheelchair users at a train(?), who had just arrived to their stop to find nobody was there with a ramp so they could leave the train. One of them blocked the door so it wouldn't close, and this lasted for 15 minutes. The train was stopped for said 15 minutes. There was a button by the door, that said that it'd contact the driver when pressed. It didn't. People offered to go find the driver, and they came back with the news that there were no people in the platform to put the ramp. In the end, passengers had to go out, and place the ramp themselves, before the train could carry on. The wheelchair users had warned they were coming, and asked to have the ramp put there so they could get down. The platform turned out to have workers, they all just ran away because they'd never encountered the situation in which they needed to do this simple task.

Because of the workers' negligence, the train was forced to stop for 15 minutes.

Everyone's comments?

"Why did they block the doors and stop the train? So selfish" Selfish were workers who refused to do their job.

"What if someone had needed to get to their stop urgently? They shouldn't have stopped the train" It wasn't the disabled people's fault, it was the workers who were negligent.

"Why didn't they just wheel themselves down those steps?" They shouldn't have to risk their (expensive) chairs just because people didn't do what they were paid to do.

"If I had been in that train I would've been pissed, how dare you stop it" And you probably wouldn't have even thought about fixing the problem yourself, would you?

"Entitled assholes" Ok I'll leave you stranded in a train with everyone who could help you get down outright refusing to. Let's see who's an entitled asshole now.

If someone fights for accessibility, as much as it might be a bother for you, you do not have the right to be mad at them. If someone fights for accessibility, it is exclusively the fault of a world catered exclusively for able-bodied people.

So next time you think, "hey the consequences of these disabled people fighting for their rights bother me", instead of blaming them for this, help them solve the issue. This way, next time they will not have to fight at all.

Able bodied people, go out and fight for a fucking accessible world if you're not an asshole.

Just with DC Heros, IDW Publishing did this very exact thing with the Ninja turtles. Raph, Shadow...Batman has a thing for people with red on them, don't he?

With Mega Man, they did it three with the mainline Sonic, Boom Sonic and X Sonic.

*ok editing this bc i think there are some major misunderstandings here and also ignorance on my part so lemme clear the air. when i wrote “don’t put tme/tma” in ur bio i did NOT mean to say that discussions around transmisogyny aren’t important or that tme/tma cannot be helpful terminology, and i’m super sorry that it came off that way. also editing bc someone pointed out to me that the original phrasing of this post is very misinforming, so to also clarify, tme/tma was a term invented by transfems to talk about transfeminine experiences which i will admit that i was unfamiliar with the history of tme/tma as a term and was introduced to it through some really bad online queer discourse. but it’s always been of my opinion that discussion around all forms of bigotry, including transmisogyny, are important and need to be had. i explained in a rb, which i’ll link when i have more time, that my issue was with the way the term is used as only identification/oppression olympics rather than genuine nuanced discussion about the ways that transphobia/transmisogyny/transandrophobia/etc function and interact with each other. i advised young trans people to not put tma/tme in their bios, bc i know that the wrong people (not just cis people, but transphobes and assholes who just want to get under your skin) would use any indication of your direction of transition to try and misgender you. or specifically in the case of tma/tme, tell you that your experiences/thoughts are not valid or reasonable bc you were tma or tma.

i realize how not originally clarifying that makes me look stupid (and a transmisogynist), so seriously, i’m sorry for that major mishap. tma/tme are not inherently bad words and you are 1000% allowed to use whatever terminology fits you and your experiences best. so as another word of advice: please do not let some rando on the internet tell you how you should talk about your experiences
