what do you think ab catholic jason todd! you always articulate your thoughts well so id love to hear them ab this, if that’s okay! :D
I try to stay in my lane on religious stuff, just since I'm very out of my own depth on non-Jewish religious topics. But I can see there's a lot of care put into this art! Very visual. In Flashpoint, wasn't Jason supposed to be a priest?

(stolen from the DC wiki)
It's certainly an interesting question. A world without Bruce as Batman includes Jason Todd as a Priest. But why?

If I see something like "she worships the old Gods" like some kind of aesthetic or flex one more time, I'm going to scream and cry. People, at least in typical modern society, clearly don't understand what those words mean anymore. If you did, the planet might not be dying. How about standing up for the desecration of old sacrificial burial sites? How about making a real offering and not just a digital moodboard "offering"? How about going out and doing something for the planet?
Most of you modern people would make the old Gods cry. Please be more respectful.

Jesus is canonically simultaneously 100% god and 100% human, so that means even if the human part of him was cis, he’s still 100% gender non-conforming because a god can’t subscribe to human binary definitions of gender.
Therefore happy pride to the nonbinary king (of all kings)

"Umbanda emerged in the early 20th century, at the same time as samba, co-creating Brazilian identity based on the mix of African, indigenous and European religious cultures. Umbanda practitioners believe that a spirit can be incorporated in the body of a medium – a congregation member who communicates between the world of the spirits and living human beings – in order to offer spiritual consultations, or charity, to the congregants. In accordance with the teachings of French spiritualist Allan Kardec, the lower spirits are rewarded for their charity with an evolutionary step up the ladder of reincarnation. A medium enters a state of trance though ritual music, surrendering to a spirit while dancing. Next to the walls of the temple, separate tables covered with cards and jewellery boxes are set for conversations with the spirits. One by one, mediums interrupt their dance to sit down for a consultation, to share tips of love affairs and planning for the future."

This might be too personal but also could be too vague, but I am visually impaired and witch and spirit worker so I wanted to ask if ur visual impairment has affected your spiritual life at all? For me it's a very spiritual thing but it's hard to explain
Hi!
My visual impairment has definitely had a big impact on my spiritual life and my work with folk magic and spirits. I mean, on a most foundational level, I revere and serve a Night goddess who represents perfect darkness. I don’t adore Her because I’m edgy and spooky (though I do love some spooky) but because my eye condition has always made light very painful for me and darkness has always been a safe, soothing, gentle condition for me to take sanctuary in. I think my visual impairment is directly correlated to the relationship I have with my Goddess and gives me a pretty specialized perspective on Her, especially since human beings tend to have a natural fear of the dark/what they can’t see, and I don’t have that issue because it’s in the light that I really can’t see at all. This affects how I approach spirits too, and which kind I tend to interact with more.
My impairment has also really helped me not to rely too much on one sense over my others. I have second sight (ironically enough) so it can get confusing if I do try to rely too much on what vision I do still have to do my discernment when doing spirit work. Even healthy eyes can be deceiving though so I think being helped along not relying on them too much has been a boon lol
I kinda rambled here but I’m always happy to chat about spiritual and folk magic experiences! It’s nice comparing experiences with others, especially other visual impaired practitioners :>

A question for primarily Reform/Reconstructionist Jews of Tumblr, though I'd love input from Jews of any denomination:
I'm a patrilineal Jew. I was raised/went to Hebrew school (from ages 6 to 12) at a Reconstructionist/Jewish Renewal synagogue, which is where I had my Bat Mitzvah. My mother converted to Reform Judaism when I was young (around 4). I know that for many Conservative synagogues I would not be considered fully Jewish without converting.
If I were to have a kid someday, could I raise them Reform or Reconstructionist Jewish and would they be able to have a Bnai Mitzvah at a synagogue of one of those denominations?
I don't really know if I want to have kids but I'd like to carry on my Jewish heritage if I do and I kinda want to know what my options would be if I don't end up having the time to commit to officially convert.
Also for reference, I do not currently attend my synagogue, however I celebrate most of the Jewish holidays with my family.
#jumblr#jewish tumblr#reform judaism#reform jewish#reconstructionist jewish#reconstructionist judaism#religious stuff#Judaism#jewish#also like I would totally be fine with raising kids jewish renewal but I know it's more rare than Reform and I don't know where I'll live

Eddie Munson grew up calling his father "tatty" which is Yiddish for father. He called his grandfather "zayde" which is grandfather in Yiddish
He also grew up saying Shema at night and Mode Ani in the morning. Once in a while, he still says them when he remembers. He also grew up washing his hands in the morning and for bread, but he doesn't do that any more. But he doe still have the bowl and cup set that he had as a child
And he shares all these things with Steve whenever the other man asks about the certain tasks he does. "It's kiddush on Friday night," Eddie replies, or sometimes, "I'm davening."
And Steve learns about it and supports his boyfriend because why shouldn't be? They even go visit New York together. They visit 770 and the Rebbe. On the way back to their hotel, a man outside a restaurant stops Eddie and asks "hey, did you put on Teffilin yet?"
And Eddie says no because he never has. He never got to. By the time he turned thirteen, he was living with Uncle Wayne, who didn't practice.
The man put Teffilin on Eddie's arms and head and they said the blessing. Steve watched his boyfriend with a proud smile. He was glad Eddie was happy

how do people cope with a love hate relationship with religion and god? it’s like having another mother, i don’t know if i want to spit in your face and abandon you forever or lay on your lap and cry clutching your shirt in my fists. you’ve known me my whole life and watched my every mistake and shown me your wrath and forgiven me every time. but you still disapprove who i am and will always punish me for it. how do i walk away feeling your warmth? how do i stay with the threat of flames at your fingertips? just, how?
#im sorry im going through it on main tonight#personal#religious stuff#please ultra christians dni w this our gods are not the same#and i am not looking for jesus#ok to interact to anyone else who will not just push religions on me

My husband was raised extremely reform Jewish and spent most of his professional life studying East Asia so when I finally got the chance to take him to a stunningly gorgeous cathedral in Paris, his main takeaway was, "Is everything about death here? Why do they like bones so much? Where are the parts of this religion that are about life???"
Tradcaths hate this man so so much.
#personal#religious stuff#he also got freaked out at my yiayia's funeral by the judgement day stuff#my man is NOT buying into the whole concept of original sin

Just a ramble for me but
I kinda miss being spiritual. Sometimes i miss even being christian. Some point during middle school I had this sort of disdain for christianity when i was discovering myself, but my parents got bothered when they suspected I was atheist. To be fair they didn't do a lot of things right.
But thats besides the point, I miss the spirituality of things, i miss feeling connected with something and having this lack of comfort for when i feel like I'm alone. I miss believing in something. I was pagan for a while and I still really jive with that but I may start looking at other aspects of spirituality this year, and figure out what my way actually does. Maybe read up on the bible again, take a look at other scriptures.

OXUM DANCES TO OGUM
@themousefromfantasyland @the-blue-fairie @professorlehnsherr-almashy @tamisdava2 @amalthea9 @princesssarisa @grimoireoffolkloreandfairytales @faintingheroine
(An Afro-Brazilan legend from the Yoruba People)
One day, Ogum, tired of his work as a blacksmith, abandoned the forge and decided to return to the forest. Fearing the lack of agricultural tools and utensils that Ogum produced, all the Orixás, except Xangô, tried to convince Ogum to return to his work, which was of great importance to his community.
Ogum, who was very proud and fearless, repelled everyone with violence and hostility.
Realizing that hunger was approaching and with it the death of the entire village, Oxalá organized an assembly with the Orixás to seek a solution.
A beautiful young woman entered through the door, who asked to speak and said in a good tone that she would bring Ogum back.
At that moment, everyone laughed, except Oxalá, who listened attentively.
Oxum insisted and said that he had weapons that they did not have. Deep down, everyone feared for the young woman's life, after all Ogun was violent. At that moment, Oxalá asked for silence and stood up, deciding to let her try.
Oxum got ready and went to meet Ogun, dressed in a skirt made with just five transparent scarves.
As she got closer to where Ogun had camped, she began to dance in a way so beautiful that it seemed like the wind itself, awakening a hallucinating perfume, but she didn't come close to Ogun, she stayed far away. He soon noticed her presence, but didn't move.
She danced for hours and the more she danced, the more she aroused Ogun's attention and admiration, he seemed to be intoxicated, entranced, surrendered. Then, she approached, and with her fingertips, smeared Ogun's mouth with honey. Oxum danced towards the exit of the forest.
He, who could do nothing more, accompanied Oxum as if he were in a trance. When they realized it, they were in the middle of the city's public square.
They were greeted with celebration!
Ogum returned.
Ogum, afraid of feeling weak, told everyone that he had returned on his own and would return to the forge.
Everyone celebrated, Oxum saved the day and everyone's lives!

Saint Veneration is a thing. But the Irish do so much more Irish do Saints a little harder than traditional Presbyterian. Trying to figure out the differences and balances between these two.
