sometimes I'm confused/annoyed by how many people draw out!queer!Dean wearing pink. I get that its about him rejecting traditional/toxic masculinity and not being afraid to explore softness, etc, but...

yall do understand that Dean can be queer, and soft, and non-traditionally masculine, and still wear what he always wears, right?

Idk. when I think "how does comfortable out, queer Dean Winchester dress", I think (on the tame side) of long hair, pride pins/patches/shirts, really dorky t shirts from scooby-doo and stuff, rainbow flannel, badly distressed cutoff jeans, bead bracelets, stacked bracelets in general, pierced ears, simple pendant necklaces, grandmacore jewelry, weird or trashy joke socks.

on the WILD side, I think of those sleeveless tiddy-window turtlenecks, distressed bleached-denim short shorts, flannel tied around his waist, cowboy boots, lipstick, and glittery gold sequin-studded fishnet tights.

ig what im saying is i understand the pink as a metaphor and do think he'd try it. I just dont think it would stick. "gay Dean" is still Dean. he's not going to turn into a head-to-toe pink, Kencore himbo drag queen (Which tbh, some of yall seem to rly like to portray him as). he's going to be the same joke socks, double-cuffed jeans, eating pizza in bed kicking his legs, adhd as fuck, flirty, cowboy kink, Certified Weird Bisexual(tm) Dean Winchester that he's always been.

- he makes a big deal of it

- he's Christmas shopping on Nov 1st, and the tree is up the next day

- he always always gets your favorite flavored candy canes, his are the strawberry so he keeps those on hand too!

- he also grabs those Pillsbury shape cookies in bulk, and stores them throughout the season. they're his favorite and they're easy when you're both tired and he just wants to give you a bit of sweets!

- he's not the best at sewing but he did alter the tree skirt himself!

- by alter I mean he bought a blank one and sewed on beads and sequins and embroidered -very crudely- your names on it. the left side says wilbur and the other side has your name! so the gifts you both get go on either side. he was very proud when he first showed you!

- he makes this whole christmas movie game as well, he prints out mini posters of each Christmas movie you both like and some new ones. he rolls them up into little scrolls and puts them in the jar he had you paint!

- then every night (or night you're up to it) he shakes up the jar and then gets you to reach into it and pick a movie!

- then he gets all the snacks and food out and makes it all pretty on the coffee table.

- he's a homebody for sure but he also likes Christmas activities out of the house

- he'll take you ice skating and christmas light viewing, and then maybe to a pottery shop to paint Christmas vases or cups

- he spends a lot of October planning these things, finding activities going on and picking the ones he knows you'd like, or that he would like!

- matching christmas PJs!! most of the time he can convince himself to stick to one or two different pairs a year but other times he splurges and there's four.. or five. they're so cute, so how could he resist?

- while he opts for premade cookie dough alot of the time, he does know how to bake, so christmasy type sweets are pretty common!

- likes to do your hair all pretty and special for Christmas events (ice skating, Christmas markets, seeing Santa, etc)

- likes to hold you and color with you, kissing all over your face as he asks you what colors are what and getting whatever colors you ask for while you color Santa or a gingerbread person!

- decorates your stocking with you every year. puffy paint and sequins and glitter!

- on Christmas morning when you jump on his bed to wake him up, he's immediately pulling you into his arms and kissing all over your face before telling you that you can't go downstairs until 7:30 because Santa's magic hasn't settled yet!

- it doesn't make sense to you so you eventually get him to give into you, but he's really just trying for a few minutes more in bed

- he tells you to wait at the top of the stairs, and you sit there, bouncing with excitement as you hold your blankie and stuffie just waiting for the go ahead!

- while you're on the stairs waiting, he's setting up blankets on the couch, putting cinnamon rolls in the oven and putting on the Disney Christmas day special.

- then he goes to the bottom of the stairs and ushers you down, you beam and run down the stairs!

- the tree is covered in pretty twinkling lights and decorated with all your favorite ornaments and trinkets!

- presents for both you and wil are lined at the bottom and the room is filled with soft warm lighting

- it's heavenly!

- the rest of the morning is filled with opening gifts and watching Christmas movies, eating cookies and Cinnamon rolls and lots and lots of nap time cuddles!

- all in all, Christmas with Wilbur is your favorite time of year :3

Dairy Whiskey – Update 03

hi again! after what seems to have been ages, your girl is back with yet another dairy whiskey update, the third of its kind.

if you ask me how the project is going, well, it’s been stagnant, but i’d just like to call it a marinating piece of literature. there’s about ten thousand words to go and i know exactly what to do, but it’s just not been working. i’m hoping that i can get back to working on it during camp in july.

but for now, here’s an earlier chapter from the draft which i’m posting for three reasons.

chapter five – rose in the plain, lily in the valley

here’s the opening line, where we look into dinah’s childhood with her mother.

When I was a child with neat pigtails and crunchy, sequinned frocks, mother took us to the hills of Vagamon.

in the next excerpt, dinah, along with her mother and ephron, is at a textile shop in town to pick out an outfit for a wedding reception to come. dinah wants a skirt that twirls but she can't find any. this is the scene where she finds it.

When she emerged from the godown carrying a pile of five or six sets, I spotted a squash-orange. It was the only one I wanted to try on. “The orange one,” I told mother. She took it from the salesperson and she guided us to the trial room. Mother helped me into the skirt, beaded and jewelled at the edges. The blouse was sleeveless with a square neck and an open back, with a string looped criss-cross down and tied at the bottom. The front of the top was embroidered with orange jewels in the shape of flowers, leaves, and small doughnuts. “I love this,” I said. Mother smiled at me and helped me out of it. She handed it over to the salesperson and paid the bill at the counter. We went back home in another auto.

honestly, congrats girl! i was so happy for little dinah that i almost shed a tear or two writing this scene. but, as we all know by now, she can't have one good thing thanks to her family. the grandmother is displeased with the colour of the set because it, apparently, makes her look darker than she really is, and hence begins her insecurities with skin tone. thanks, grandma.

Grandmother held my chin in her palm and wiped my tears. “Oh, don’t cry, angel. It’s only the colour. You look darker, like a crow. If it had been some other colour, then maybe…” “Stop it!” mother shouted. “Don’t talk to her like that. My daughter can wear whatever she wants. She looks beautiful in this dress. She always does. Stop telling my daughter she is not pretty. Stop lying to her.” I had been crying more intensely now, tears wetting my school uniform. “She would have been so much more beautiful if she was fairer. I told you to give her saffron milk but you never listened to me. Because of your arrogance, your daughter will have to suffer.” “She’s the prettiest little girl I’ve seen,” mother said. Her voice cracked like a twig in her throat. She looked at me, and then at Ephron. She told him, “Go inside with your sister.”

and hence, he takes her to their room and they have a really sweet moment there, which i'm depriving you of because plot...

moving on, the next chapter begins with dinah remembering how ephron saved her from dying and how he had taken care of her all that while. and then, she says she's going out the next day (with austin, but she leaves that part out).

and this party is where i'm going to cut it off because, again, too much plot that i can't reveal. but, here's a heartwarming scene where dinah sees her mother as someone beautiful and feels better abut herself.

But it was on that day that I noticed – mother was darker than I was. She always had been. And she wore red and orange sarees through the house, with her oiled black hair and household sweat. And she looked beautiful. She had always looked beautiful. She had given me something so beaming and radiant – her skin. She had also given me her eyes. And her teeth and bones and eyelashes. She had given me the form I occupied, and when I looked at her, I saw where I came from. I saw where my body was heading and forgot about the squash-orange long skirt making my skin too dark. I saw mother and saw the house of my blood, the vessel that had carried it for years, and forgot about everything and wanted to dance. So, when the bride and groom got on the stage and began to dance to their choreographed dance routine, I grabbed Ephron by the arm and we danced at the back of the hall. He ran to the front, holding my hand, and twirled me around until I felt dizzy.

again, i shed a tear writing this. she was too innocent to have been broken like that. i'm sorry, pal. i'm sorry about all the trouble i gave / am giving you.

vignette five – vineyard secrets

in this episode, we discover something that had been too obvious to begin with – dinah is not straight. everybody please welcome veronica to the party.

here's the opening line:

Dinah remembers Veronica by her face – plump and glossy with a berry flush at all times, her skin the colour of almond milk.

if you're wondering who she is and where she's from, here you go.

She was her roommate at the hostel to which she had moved for higher secondary, hoping that she would go unnoticed like she had at boarding school. But Veronica, who had lived in the UK her whole life with a Malayali father and an Italian mother, had found her intriguing.

the day veronica moves into hostel, dinah had already been there for a week. she helps veronica, who insists on being called nic, settle in and shows her around. in the evening when she shows dinah pictures of her family, dinah gets sad and tells her about mariam. it was at this moment that they kiss.

yep, i'm not that cruel. i give her good times too.

Like lightning to the night, they had crashed and collided. The rumbling would come after. There would be no fire, no wounds, no burns. They would leave their secret to ripen between them, like a juicy orange – sweet and tangy. They would see each other until they left school two years later, and after that, their secret would be buried in the ground.

and here's the last line, mirroring the first.

Dinah remembers Veronica by her face, but also by her breath, laden with mint.

I love your work! It's so delicate and detailed. How did you start doing this kind of... mixed media embroidery? I'm not even sure quite what to call it, this mix of sequins and other materials as well as drawn images.

Thank you! I went to school for oil painting, but I hated my program - it was very restrictive and all it did was frustrate me. My sincere art fell flat and my troll art was lauded and it felt like was a colossal waste of time and all the money in the world. So I quit and started working as a production assistant in film wardrobe departments. From there I pursued fashion, and that lead to me eventually running a couture bridal label for 12 years. I quit *that* because bridal industry stuff is hard, yo. I literally got some of my best friends out if it - one of my ride or die bffs came to me as a client and ended up being a bridesmaid in my own wedding. So it was fulfilling for a long while, but pressure stopped being fun and started just being exhausting.

What I enjoyed most was the embellishment. I got injured in 2019 and couldn’t walk at all for a month, and needed a cane for six months. So I just sat in one spot and started embellishing frames with beads and sequins and embroidery. Not for garments or gowns, just for fun while I recovered. And then good omens dropped, and people were making incredible fanart, and I really wanted to make fanart, too, but my stuff was all super abstract. It took me a while to figure out how to make things more figurative, so it could qualify as recognizable fanart. I started collabing with other artists like Dory Whynot and Grin, incorporating their incredible illustration and embellishing on top of it, but it still wasn’t enough for me - I love love love and am so honoured that other artists enjoy working with me and collabs are one of my fave things in life, but I didn’t want it to be a reliance thing - I wanted to be able to make the kind of stuff I wanted on my own, not have to collab. I have been chipping away at my own illustration skills - I was trained very rigidly and classically in school, as a mentioned, so my style is still not something I really enjoy for fanart, but I’m making progress. And here we are. I use beads and sequins to make fanart, which has really pushed the definition of sequins as a whole, pretty much because I wanted to make Crowley art. I use a lot of the pattern-drafting techniques I developed during my couture bridal career to shape sequin sheeting into bugs and plants now, pursuing my love of science and entomology etc for non-fan art. I am much, much happier now making this kind of art, but just like everyone else - I have no idea what to call it. Since everything is stitched with thread, I call it embroidery, but eh. I know it doesn’t really fit.

Tl:dr - I wanted to make Crowley art and no one knows what to call the the things I make now 😂

there was so much 2000s inspo like kaori was on a mission girl

and when i say kaori i do it mean it ! she had a huge hand in the styling during this era (and in pretty much every era afterwards skiwjsjs)

she wanted the styling to reflect how she actually dressed, and damn didn’t it make her a fashion icon !

there was a lot of gyaru elements, and a lot of inspo from the scene subculture and the rave scene of the 00s, too

her motif this era was a lot of stars ! star shaped piercings, fake tattoos, stars incorporated into her makeup,, the whole 9 yards mhm !

due to her age at the time, there was a lot of altering school uniforms to made them appear trendier, too

one of her outfits for her tour even made her look like a sailor ! so snsd coded !

bright colors ! sooooo many bright colors ! lots of glitter and gems and stickers, and a lot of bicolored stuff ! pink / blue and pink / yellow were thee combinations during this era !

like they did the color combos a LOT when it came to kaori’s makeup

and speaking of her makeup, it was adorable ! lots of pigmented eyeshadow, glitter, stars drawn on her eyes, gems used, etc

sometimes her stylists would put gems in the corners of her eyes or even on her eyebrows !

they would dye them a lot, too shehjd

there were also lots of colored hair extensions used, too ! there were tassels too like just adorable

all in all, very cute styling wise ! we got a lot of miniskirts, mini dresses, crop tops, matching lil sets, cropped button downs, stiletto / platform boots, juicy tracksuits, capri / cargo jeans, fishnets, over the knee stockings, big layered belts, wallet chains, layered / beaded jewelry, camo print, sequins, teeth gems, and star-shaped hoop earrings, the “chōnmage” hairstyle, and fingerless gloves definitely became three of kaori’s signatures !

because girl lemme tell you it was like namie amuro’s sweet 19 blues all over again

since kaori was already popular as an athlete, actress, and internet personality, her album was bound to blow up

her debut single was a hit ! it debuted at no. 2 on the oricon charts, and it got kaori her first entry into the billboard hot 100 ! selling over 90,000 units, it ended up debuting at no. 86 ! nothing too special, but it was HUGE for a freshly debuted artist from japan

ofc, as expected for an upcoming idol, kaori did a LOT this era

she was all over japanese tv,, doing interviews, promoting her singles on music station, appearing on variety shows, on the covers of teen magazines,, like girl she was doing it ALL

she even had some promos abroad ! one of her singles (“yeah-oh”) was in english, so she promoted it on american tv !

kaori was on total request live, good morning america, she had an interview on the tonight show,, she was even on good mythical morning AND she was on the cover of elle magazine

she got to meet nicki minaj and kesha too and girl when i tell you that she DIED,, like she’s loved nicki since pink friday and kesha’s music was her entire personality don’t play !

she went to a few music festivals too ! she had a set at wango tango and at lollapalooza

oooo girl and get this,, she even promoted in korea SJIWJSNS

she was a guest on running man for an episode, and she even had a brief mc gig on inkigayo !

her running man ep was SO well received like she was hilarious

but if her variety show appearance didn’t endear her to the korean gp, then her cover of lee hyori’s “10 minutes” definitely did !

ofc she went to a bunch of award shows and won a bunch of awards,, she performed at the mtv vmas in both japan AND america, she was at the bbmas in japan, she attended the amas and the wmas, and she even performed at mama !

the pics she took with kara, sistar, and 2ne1 were everywhere !

she won her first japan record award for best new artist, which is literally the equivalent of a grammy in japan

kaori also went on a tour across asia ! it started in june and ended in september, and there were some extra dates added in america in november !

but the best part of this era ??? she opened for namie amuro’s dome tour

like girl that was INSANE ! namie is literally kaori’s idol and if her debut didn’t already get her out there, then opening for namie DEFINITELY did

she met koda kumi, too !

her hair was black for most of 2012, but during the american leg of her tour, she dyed it dark brown !

all in all, incredible era ! SO much happened when she was only a rookie (AND when she was 16-17 and still in school, at that), so everyone knew that her career from then on was going to be nothing short of iconic !

some things about vampire!nancy in my au:

- she can bend shadows for her bidding, this power can take decades of practice to just get the body drain within a reasonable threshold (after centuries you start getting myths like the boogeyman)

- her biggest problem is when robin spills tiny objects (sequins, beads, etc) and she’s stuck counting them until they’re all out of sight (this is a vampire weakness from older lore)

- she’s allergic to garlic, but will not die from it. as a descendant of the original covens, she is visible in mirrors/photos (but is blurred), and can eat human food (very limited amounts). however, she cannot cross railroads (spin on being unable to cross waterways) without getting a rash that can turn into a severe burn the longer she is on the railway. (“what about stakes?” “these are trade secrets, buckley.”)

- as original descendants, these vampires are born between a vampire and human (they’re usually matched pairs) but lesser covens can get away without adhering to strict rules/traditions. nancy’s parents were matched. (you already know nancy and robin do not receive any stamp of approval except the universe’s)

- “soulmates” are extremely rare with vampires (it’s bound to happen with the longevity of their lives, but their counterpart usually dies before they find them). it’s in their person’s eyes that the vampire can finally see themselves in total clarity. nancy doesn’t notice this at first - she’s always too distracted counting robin’s freckles.

- vampires are immortal but not invulnerable. in order to function, their body feeds/circulates the blood of their kills. this is the blood that drains if they’re wounded or exerting too much force (it’s almost black in color and is thicker than regular blood). if they lose too much, they can go into shock and possibly die. the only way to heal is to drink more blood.

- they do need to be careful on what blood they’re drinking. if a human is drunk or on drugs, it can have them same effect on the feeding vampire. animal blood is not compatible with vampires. (“isn’t it the same thing?” “that’s like feeding a mountain lion only berries. sure, it would get you through until the next real meal, but not all of winter.” “nancy, be honest. you’re more of an angry kitten than a lion.”)

It’s not wrong that when I see embroidery projects involving sequins, wire &etc I nope out. I’m asking my local embroidery supply shops to stop trying to make metalwork happen for me. I’m not even interested on beading ffs. Let me do my plain surface embroidery in peace.

im hoping when i finish all the toys i can try to build like. a closet or a toy chest or something to put all the toys in, sort of forcing the viewer to interact with them, root through them, touch them, handle them etc meanwhile some of them will appear hostile to "touch" i.e. i'll embroider one explicitly saying "don't touch me" on the belly. might put studs on a few, i'll have to plan more of them out.

i'm aiming for thirty-some toys, one for each year of my life. all of them "innocent" and "feminine" animals like cats, sheep, and bunnies, except one. i'll have to find fabric i like but it'll be a faceless, sexless human doll like those old school raggedy ann/andy dolls buried under all the animals with long black yarn hair.

i'd like a set of markers for people to write or draw whatever they want on the humanoid doll (which is what i did to my ann and andy dolls as a kid. sort of. i crossed out their faces. i ruined the faces of almost all my toys growing up, i hated the feeling of being watched, hence why the ones i make dont have faces)

all of the toys will be fleece except for the raggedy an/ndy one, which i dont remember what they're made of but i'll try to replicate it. maybe just cotton? or maybe a linen. something oddly textured and not very cuddly. and stains/inks very easily.

anyway. just my thoughts. a long process. i have a few dolls planned out already, one will be another bunny with pale-tan fleece and a pink fabric dress, and i'll embroider heart beads and heart sequin in the crotch area to look like she's bleeding. and a couple sheeps, one maybe half "shaved" and another in a red hood.

i'll have to...... plan for so many toys.... but we'll see how it goes.

Hi!! So much love to you from a fellow (also semi newbie) cosplayer.

I’ve learned a lot from my (very patient) friends who got me into it in the first place. The best thing I can offer as advice is to tell you to keep doing exactly what you just did: reach out, ask questions, and keep learning.

@toodarling has helped me with so many last minute saves and solutions, and I can’t thank them enough for it. Their work is exemplary, and they’ve always been the greatest help when I’ve gotten stuck or frustrated.

Since I’m new, my skills are really limited - I’m still learning and adapting as I go. You are absolutely right! Sequins are lining the branches mostly as a little trick because I’m really not that comfortable/clean with my lines yet.

What I can also recommend is finding good base fabrics to build off of - a lot of times you can get pretty lucky with a deep dive either online or at local fabric shops to find something great to work as your foundation. For the branch embroidery, I found a lovely semi sheer fabric with a pre-existing pattern that I added onto. A little like training wheels, but it helped me feel more comfortable as I went.

All the seams on the sheer fabric are doubled over a thin black ribbon for a bit of support - it also helped me secure small snaps in the back for the halter top. High recommend :)

The corset. Is a liiiiiittle frankensteined. I will be so honest - I messed up on it. A lot.

I underestimated how fickle the satin would be and how difficult working around the poly boning would end up. It’s a mix of embroidery, appliqués, fabric glue, and a lot of trial and error. The best I can offer for that one is “trust the process and don’t give up” - that was probably the roughest part of the build for me.

Redacted Asmr Fashion Headcanons!

Both Ash and Gavin view developing a personal style as a matter of self-care (I'm totally not projecting right now) but in very different ways. Ash is a thrift store GOD. He knows where to find all the best-stocked stores and he knows all the methods for making sure you do not miss out on a single styling piece that has potential. While Ash stocks up on basics that mix and match fantastically, Gavin is more of a statement pieces kind of fellow. His wardrobe is full of glitter, sequins, thigh-high socks, platform boots, and bright colors. Don’t get me wrong, he DOES have his basics… in the very back of the closet. Only to be used when absolutely necessary. XD His go-to "casual" outfit is a pair of neon pink leggings and a MASSIVE oversized t-shirt that slips off both shoulders and goes down to his knees. Not exactly fashion related, but whatever it my post I can do what I want— Gavin is and absolute chapstick and lipgloss ADDICT. He has a specific, almost-clear, peachy pink-tinged, all natural (yes he is THAT bitch) not-tested-on-animals lipgloss that he wears virtually every day. He puts chapstick on every night before bed and has an entire bin of all his different flavors, colors, etc of chapstick. He would 100% wear a choker with a bell on it and clip on cat ears solely for the purpose of flustering someone and/or creeping them out. Two piercings in each earlobe, generally just wears hoops or little rings if he’s feeling more boring.

Asher isn't quite as out there as Gavin, but he also thinks that if anybody is going to judge him for his fashion choices they can just fuck right off. He loves layering— vests, halters, overalls, biker jackets, belts, corset tops and micro mini skirts over pants when he's feeling more adventurous, leg warmers, body chains and fingerless gloves are his Thing. He takes inspiration from a LOOOT of different aesthetics and it really just depends on his mood— alt, cottagecore, goblincore, 80s, light academia, romantic academia, aaaaalllll that good stuff. His favorite casual outfits would consist of smol t-shirts that say something about him (band t-shirt, show merch, etc) paired with baggy jeans, maybe with some patches or rips. Asher. Adores. Jewelry. You KNOW this man owns fifty thousand rings!!! He’s always wearing at LEAST two rings. He often wears those little netting black chokers and owns like three different pop tab necklaces, at least one of which is homemade. Speaking of, he’ll often make his own stuff! He can’t sew, but he’ll hack the sleeves off of a jacket or crop some jeans into shorts no hesitation, and is always painting designs on plain t-shirts and making jewelry out of discarded trash or unwanted beads. He and Milo went to get their ears pierced together when they were both teens. They both like studs the most, but while Milo generally sticks to round black or small silver studs, occasionally mixing it up with some tiny gold or silver rings, Ash has a whole collection of funky studs. Hello Kitties, pokéballs, little fried eggs, lemons, little puppy footprints, moons in all phases, stars, all manner of fruit, tiny sushi’s, tiny pizza slices, metallic strawberries, fuckin mermaids, nothing is too wacky for this man. Baabe gets him a new pair every chance they get. 

Milo likes fashion but feels like the community is too competitive and unwelcoming to really get into it. He’ll often tag along to Asher and Baabe's thrift store trips, but he generally just ends up getting… ANOTHER denim or leather jacket. Yeah, this man owns a LOT of denim and leather jackets. He also has a massive, ever-growing collection of enamel pins with which to abuse said jackets. He owns a trench coat solely because it makes him look more intimidating on jobs, according to him. Milo CAN sew, and will embroider little embellishments on the cuffs of his jeans and the collars of his shirts 🥰. He does it to calm himself sometimes, and what it ends up being often completely depends on his mood and what media he’s consumed recently. He has jeans with spiders on the hem, with little howling wolves, with times trees, with bats, with daisies, with paw prints, with stars, even ones with little hearts. It annoys the shit out of him when Asher asks him to modify his clothes "I'm not ya personal tailor, Ash!!" but he’ll do it anyway, with enough weedling. His favorite casual outfit is just an old college tee, a Melanie Martinez shirt, or a Shaw Security shirt paired with a comfy old worn-out pair of jeans that he embroidered LITERALLY all over with whatever he was thinking of at the time.

David really doesn’t care about "fashion" per se, but he likes to feel put together. He generally wears polo shirts and nice jeans on a casual day, a button up and nice slacks on a more formal day, and will add a tie or even a blazer on the most formal of events. The only time Angel approves of his fashion is when he wears flannels with the sleeves rolled up in the fall and winter. 😏

Sartorially, I would look for gowns in simple silhouettes with lots of intricate and glamourous accents (sequins, beading, feathers, etc.) in bold colors with minimalist two-strap sandal heels (example here) – either in a neutral colorway or a shade that complements the colors on your dress. Pair it with embellished chandelier earrings or statement studs (crystals, pearls, gemstones).

Makeup-wise: A fresh face with a satin-finish foundation, rosy-peach blush, light contour, and shimmering champagne highlight on the tops of the cheekbones, inner corners of your eyes, and below the arch of your brows should do the trick. A brown smoky eye with a thin line of eyeliner and a few generous coats of mascara (even fake lashes), and a rosy or berry lip complete the look.

To embody the overall demeanor, I would say to have a confident posture – shoulders back, head held high, back straight, and chest slightly out, and engage with others with a smile with soft yet direct eye contact. Speak slowly and move intentionally – appear comfortable with yourself and as though your presence/words are invited to take up space in every room you walk into.

My completely unnecessary in-depth analysis of what wedding dress Hailey would have worn had she decided to wear a dress when they got married

Disclaimer: this is solely based off my imagination and assumed preferences for Hailey. Also, If you don’t want to read, you can just skip to the bottom where I posted a picture of my final choice.

I fully accept that Hailey wearing a burgundy turtleneck and a black leather jacket while she and Jay have a courthouse wedding is pretty true to form for this pairing.

HOWEVER

The Upstead proposal had me scouring the internet for the perfect wedding dress for Hailey Anne Upton and I wanted to share my findings for those who might be interested.

Luckily neither of them are the big wedding types, so very small and very private (including a courthouse ceremony) were the only viable options in my mind. Didn’t matter if it was indoor or outdoor or if there was a running theme. Tastefully simple was always going to be the default. Or the decor brought to you by the local Justice of the Peace.

Didn’t matter.

But the thing that stalled me the most was probably the one thing that receives the most attention at any wedding, big or small.

The dress.

Luckily, I figured it would be the same kind of dress regardless of the venue considering small and simple was the way to go (in my mind). But there are so many factors when finding the right wedding dress, especially when it’s for a character who rarely wears a dress. (I think Hailey wore an LBD like one time for a case?) So relying on imagination is extremely important for this process.

That being said, here are a few things that I took into consideration:

Skirt length

Skirt shape

Sleeves

Bodice

Neckline

Material

Embellishments (including but not limited to lace, beading, sequins, border trims, fringe, ribbons, ruffles, pearls etc.)

Bonus round: the veil

So starting off with: the skirt

Hailey is not a ball gown girl. No full on princess skirt she has to squeeze through doorways, and nothing that requires layers. It’s way too much and she would have zero patience for it. So I’m thinking something sleek, fitted without being clingy, and drapes elegantly over her curves but doesn’t constrict. In short, nothing that requires a bridesmaid to help her when she needs to pee while wearing the dress.

No floor length (as much as I love a full length gown) and we are definitely not shooting for Vegas style with a mini skirt. Hard no.

That puts us at a safe middle ground midi (aka tea length), floating delicately around the calves. There's no fear of dragging on the ground or any issues that may be caused by a train. And on the opposite end of the spectrum, she doesn't have to worry about tugging her skirt down every 2 minutes so she’s not flashing everyone with the mini option.

All in all, while it is her wedding day, I still think Hailey would want the option that enables the most mobility.

Next order of business: Sleeves

I had the most difficult time with this one. Considering Hailey’s penchant for hoodies, sweaters and various long sleeve options with the occasional t-shirt, I thought this would be an easy choice. I was wrong.

I wasn’t seeing Hailey as a strapless or a halter style, and I just couldn’t get a good visual with anything ranging from a cap sleeve to a 3/4 to a long sleeve. Nothing was vibing. This is was one of those selections that I could not settle on until I had a proper visual of the rest of the dress. I surprised myself when the final choice was a spaghetti strapped option as I’m not usually a fan. But with the neckline I chose, it’s a wonderful pairing in my opinion.

Speaking of the neckline (and bodice):

This was my number 2 struggle just below the sleeves. And in order to decide sleeves, I had to figure this out.

For me, the neckline went hand in hand with the bodice. I definitely have a preference for a more structured look rather than a loose fit boho feel. But neither of those were really hitting home. I don’t see her wanting something too tight or anything with boning, but definitely not picturing anything going the formless route. So like the skirt, we’re going for a middle ground.

My conclusion? A slip dress. Not my usual choice, but I love the drapey look of it, especially when made with silk satin. It’s got a bit of a relaxed look with how the fabric sits loosely against the skin, but with just a slight nip in around the waist to give a sleek silhouette that would look GORGEOUS on Hailey.

And to complete that drapey look that I can’t seem to pry myself away from, a cowl neckline. Hailey’s doesn't seem the plunging neckline type, but this gives both coverage and cleavage, and is what ultimately led me to the conclusion of spaghetti straps.

A two for one - material and embellishments:

I pretty much gave it away in the last section, but after looking at a lot of wedding dress materials, I just can’t picture a lot of lace, sequins, ruffles etc. Like the wedding itself, I was picturing simple and tasteful. Ribbons and appliqué don’t seem like something Hailey would like or want to be concerned about. I think she’d rather go for something simple where no assembly is required. No complicated buttons or ribbons. Nothing she would need more than a mirror and possibly a helping hand with the zipper (preferably Jay’s but this is the wedding day and he is a traditional guy).

The selection for the type and shape of dress made this choice easy because a silk satin material seems to be the default for the slip dress look. It also cleared up the turmoil regarding embellishments, especially my vice grip on lace, since it honestly looks best with no embellishments at all.

Classy and sleek and just sexy enough with how it looks like it might glide right off Hailey's figure without the security of those thin straps. A nice sprinkling of temptation for Jay.

And last, the veil:

The one place I might’ve been able to get my fix of wedding lace. Short or long? Birdcage or cathedral? Maybe hanging down to the lower back? Then there's the question of borders. So many decisions for this one single piece. But after considering my options and the final selection of the dress, my choice was ultimately:

No veil.

I’m not necessarily going for a minimalist look, but I don’t think it’s an addition that’s needed. If anything, I think Hailey would have something like a sequined clip in her hair. Either for a loose updo (like a low bun that's loosely crown braided back with little wispy tendrils framing her face), a half up half down, or my favorite look: that signature deep side part. Throw in a light curl and clip to pull back one side and *chefs kiss* beautiful.

The final reveal:

I actually really like the shoes that the model wears with it as well. A white or nude heel would probably look best with the dress.

And the flowers? Even though I have a hard time picturing Hailey holding anything but Jay’s hands, I can see her having something like this gorgeous Magnolia bouquet. Simple and elegant like the rest of the outfit.
