I just thought of a funny idea. Space archeologists vs space construction contractors.
You're happily doing your job colonizing a planet, making plans to terraform it for human habitability when, "Oh shit, not again...", ruins of an ancient alien civilization.
So of course the space archeologists stop the project until they can unearth the mysteries of unknown alien cultures. Typical!
#science fiction#milkyfederation#worldbuilding#I obviously support stopping construction in case of archeological findings#historical patrimony > private construction projectes every day of the week#I just find the idea of archeologists as goblins waiting to screw a contractor's day at the faintest sight of a column#very funny

There is a woodpecker hammering at the side of the house and it's a bold take for 10:30 am, bird.
#my brain is so Off its soaked in goop.#I also really fucking need to stop waking up at 1am and staying awake until 5. my friend joked I have such a dedication to the bronze age#I became biphasic and I'm worried its true lol. At least I got some reading done last night though.#Did you know they hunted elephants in Babylonia? That was cool to learn. Also that there was a family of scribes in southern Mesopotamia#who were dedicated to preserving and maintaining Akkadian/Sumerian culture that they were still inscribing tablets into the#100BC and that <333 I want to write about them. That really stuck with me.#Instead I have to do the same colloquial thing with my actual real live thesis lit review. 0/10. Scared.#High-key I also need to do rp responses and belarus is poking me to respond to dms. About 2 seconds from dropping my guy#I also have the liztlie au revolving more.. Maybe if I take two weeks after the end of classes I could switch off my brain and try to finis#I'm so close! But if I get selected to go to Turkey I'm going to have to defend and submit by mid-July.#And this is all on top of NOT HAVING ANY FUCKING DATA FOR THE COLUMN.#which is not MY fault its the development of a method and I need to... idk man. Idk. figure something out myself probably even tho#it's the other team's problem. Or switch my thesis around which is probably best even if my advisor is not in on it because#Why Would My Advisor Be Here? You Thought My Advisor Would Be Here? You Are Sadly Mistaken.#Highkey there needs to be a support group for people who's advisors are out. I'm grateful she trusts me to keep my head#above water for a month as I'm writing this fucking thing but also I feel abandoned and in distress.

This was supposed to just be a background for a Silly Drawing but I got. Carried away with the TARDIS Design of it all. Eighteenth Doctor's TARDIS!
[ID: Digital drawing of a tardis console room, in shades of brass, gray, gold and brown, with red wire mesh floor paths. Glowing pipes- like pneumatic tubes- grow out of the central oclumn like a tree and enter various octagonal slots in the wall. A beige chair faces the far side of rhe console, and behind it s door, with more red mesh in the window. A strange dimensiona support column is embedded in the other wall. /End ID]
The chair can travel on a rail around the console!
#its all. vaguely industrial but also takes the mysterious organic vibes of some of my fave new who tardis designs.#marble and slate and clay and steel...#qnd theiretically you could see the Depths below the mesh floor like 11s tardis but idk if it shows in the drawing#my art#eighteenth doctor#the support column was mesnt to be like. yknow those zigzagy types of steel beam? what if that but instead of the zigzag bein 2d#its 3d and based on a mobius strip. time lord engineering sensibilities!

HELLO bracken! I thought I would ask u this bc u are the resident aro guy for me 😌 buuuuuut do u think people/my followers would think I am aromantic if I reblog a post about amatonormativity? Context is that I'm not out, even online, but honestly I'd like to be... I am just scared about being taken seriously/understood, even by other queer people. I feel like (queer) people can understand gay/bi/lesbian/trans/etc identities pretty well, but aro or ace identities are just... strange to some. that's at least my perception and maybe that's not the case! anYWAY. I hope this doesn't come across as a "HELLO should I come out" ask bc I don't want to put that pressure on u, I just wanted another aro opinion on putting something that isn't automatically aro onto my blog 🙂↕️
hiiiii!!!! big questions here... honestly, i don't know how people tend to take talking about amatonormativity when they don't think you're aromantic. i've only ever talked about it with people from the perspective of someone who is really visibly and vocally aromantic... amatonormativity is obviously universal and affects all kinds of people, but at this point, you unfortunately have to be kind of entrenched in aromantic discourse (positive meaning of the word. the conversations we have about being aromantic) to like,,, know. about all that. and i totally understand what you're talking about. i genuinely do think it's gotten a lot better from the 2016 era where people were really insistent that aspecs were Not queer, but i also don't think that people have really internalized by now that aspecs Are queer. y'know? we've moved away from a time where people were really comfortable being assholes to aspec people online, but everyone did the "we should stop being mean!" part of the realization and didn't actually get around to the like. you should include aspec people in your concept of the queer community. nd that's just on the being taken seriously side of things... much less hope for being understood...
that's not to say that everything sucks forever though!! obviously there are a ton of people who are cool and understanding and will be really chill about you being aromantic out there :) i have a lot of queer friends in many different aspects of that word that care about and respect me as another queer person in my aromanticism. short answer here is that if the people in your circles only know about amatonormativity in the context of aro discussions, they'll probably make some associations; always possible to lie nd hit them with the 'not aromantic but i believe in their beliefs' if you want! and it's fine to reblog smth and then delete it if you get a response that you don't want. you are never required to come out, and it is always best for you to do what you think will keep you safest, whether that's physically or emotionally, y'know?
what i WILL say. is that i have a circle full of people who are cool about me being aro, and the reason that i have that is Because i talk about it so much. it's a two-sided thing; it weeds out the people who are gonna fucking suck about it, but talking about aromanticism all the time also has the added benefit of helping the people around me understand aromanticism better. people don't often like,,, go searching out aro experiences in order to understand us better? but if i am constantly talking about what being aro is like and the issues i have as an aro person and my experiences and aro joy, that's a ton more information that people have about aromanticism. the people around me probably do associate the concept of amatonormativity with aromanticism. but they're also more deeply aware of what the issue itself is and how it affects them as alloro people, because i've had the chance to talk through it with them. coming out is a huge thing, especially when you're not sure what the response will be. if you've got a lot of queer people around you, though, i'd say that there's a good number of them who will be normal about it, haha. if you're feeling brave enough to trial-by-fire it, i would put forward that the people who aren't going to be cool about aromanticism are probably not the people you're gonna want to keep around forever, anyway. you don't have to do things all at once. reblogging that amatonormativity post might be a good way to test the waters, though :) i am not going to tell you whether you should come out because that's not my decision to make for you. but i will tell you that i love being out as aro and it has only ever made my life better to be able to openly express myself about it and to have people around me who understand me because i've been able to tell them about myself. it's not the right decision for everybody. but especially on the internet, there's a lot of space to find new people, and the aro people on tumblr dot com are both cool and very accepting, if you're ever looking for new people to be friends with :) i understand your anxieties completely. and also i think that sometimes the things that scare us will have benefits beyond what we can imagine. and it's really cool to be able to reblog aro flag stuff sometimes. small joys. you've got more people around you who will support you than you think, and if you don't have those people, then you have a whole community here who will be with you regardless <3 make the decision that's best for you, take it as slow as you need to, and know that i'm rooting for you!! the askbox is always open to you and this blog is always a space to hold aro joy for you while you might not be able to be vocal about it in your day-to-day life. care for u deeply and hope it all turns out well for u babes <2
#feel like i talked forever but hopefully i helped with even some of that 😭#so happy to be resident aro guy for u forever... the power of being loud and annoying about aromanticism everywhere... wonderful...#thesis statement. coming out is scary but there are more people waiting to support you than you probably think.#and the community is always there for you no matter what <3#ask#aromantic#aromanticism#advice column

He may have had the reputation of a calculating man who always wanted to get the most out of it, his drive and his love for football were sincere. Cruijff was nothing less than an idealist during his time as Ajax coach. Somewhere in his head floated the idea of Perfect Football, and rather than making concessions to Harmsen, the players, the fifth column or the newspapers, he tried to put his ideal into practice by trial and error. Cruijff obviously had no idea about training structure, he left that to his assistants. And at the endurance run on Tuesday morning in the Amsterdam Forest, he only came to watch. Yes, every now and then you could tell that he didn't have any diplomas. A fundamental lesson from the trainer's manual was to first mark out the playing field before training. Cruijff simply forgot that, and then the boys suddenly found themselves playing football across two fields. But when it came to positional play and match tactics, the trainer didn't let anyone fool him. His principles were rock solid. You had to have the ball, then you could never lose, Cruijff taught. And the defence started with the attackers.

OKAY I NEED AN OPINION AND HAVE NO ONE TO GO TO: a really close friendship of mine ended recently on pretty shit terms, we dont talk. It’s been around a month now and one of the first things I did was get rid of pretty much everything she gave me. That being said, I kept a few things including a hoodie I had borrowed from her. She has several pairs of my pants, my shirts, my jackets, etc. I’ve already accepted i’m jot getting that stuff back and tbh I don’t want it. Issue is now she’s talking to me through a mutual friend and wants her hoodie back (and is offering my clothing back) so i’m kinda torn. Should i give it back and be a good person or be a petty bitch and tell her I donated it already? leaning towards being a petty bitch but yk
hmmmmm lowkey im leaning towards being petty too bc im just like that but the thing is if ur clothes are nice/cute I’d take them back no need for her to keep ALL your good stuff for her singular hoodie—also depends on how realistic it is for u to be donating smth in her mind if u don’t donate a lot she’s gonna know you’re lying 😔 I would return the hoodie and take back ur stuff!!! make sure she returns all of it !!!
i love being petty but im also a big believer in like bad energy staying around u and I think u keeping something that belonged with her doesn’t truly allow u to move on! remove urself from her life by taking ur stuff back and return her things so she has no claim to any aspect of ur life :) good luck friend :)))
#im sorry ur friendship ended anon i hope you’re doing okay#my best friend returned a hoodie after spraying it with her perfume and I wholeheartedly supported this <- petty :p#advice column

New: Search operators for better searching!
We hear you, and we share your frustrations: it’s hard to find a specific post. You know it has a particular tag or phrase, and it was posted on this date, or at least, within a specific year. But you can't find it!
So, today, we’re excited to announce that you can use ✨ advanced search operators ✨ in the search bar now! You can now say potato from:staff year:2021 to easily enjoy that video of a potato being microwaved again.
Before we jump into the details, a couple of caveats to note:
These search operators are only available in the main Tumblr search bar. They don’t work in the search bar in individual blogs.
The search operators only work on posts created in 2017 or later.
OK! Let’s go explore these operators!
Exact phrase match
When you surround your query with regular double quotes (not curly quotes), it will match posts with that exact phrase in the post's text content, or that exact phrase as a tag.
For example, "chappell roan is roan of arc" matches posts with that exact phrase in the content, and also matches posts that have the exact tag #chappell roan is roan of arc.
Match operator
By default, the query matches the post on either the text or the tags.
You can use match:text to specify you want to search the post content, or match:tags to search the post tags. For example:
sword world match:text looks for posts with the words "sword" and "world" in the post content.
sword world match:tags looks for posts with the words "sword" and "world" in the post tags.
From operator
Use from:blog or from:@blog to find only posts by a particular blog.
For example, halloween from:staff finds all posts by @staff that has the word "halloween" in the post content or tags.
Year operator
Use year:YYYY to find posts from a particular year.
For example, halloween year:2019 finds all posts from 2019 that has the word "halloween" in the post content or tags.
Date operator
Use date:YYYY-MM-DD to find posts from a particular date.
For example, halloween date:2019-10-08 finds all posts created on October 8, 2019 that has the word "halloween" in the post content or tags.
All together
You can combine all the tools above to form even more specific queries:
Congrats! You’re now a Tumblr search wizard! 🪄
Other syntax
As a reminder, you can already search by a tag, or by multiple tags:
Prefixing your query with # performs a tag search — that is, it will find posts with that exact tag. For example, #star wars will only return posts with the #star wars tag.
You can search for multiple tags at at time. For example, #star wars #art will find posts that are tagged with both the tag #star wars and the tag #art.
You can combine this with the new operators to find what you are looking for!
A guide on how to use the new operators has also been added to our Search and Filtering Basics Guide.
Tumblr Patio support
The enhanced syntax makes Tumblr Patio even more powerful. You can now open multiple search columns each with different fine-tuned queries that use the syntax above to get you customized feeds.
Feedback
We’d love to hear what you think! Please share your feedback in the replies and reblogs of this post, or by reaching out to Tumblr Support.

Today I cycled past a house with a year chiseled in a curated stone above its front door.
1990.
It amused me. There are many old houses in the centre of my city. They are protected heritage, mostly, and go back hundreds of years, some of them almost half a millennium. There are buildings vastly older than that, of course - churches and whatnot - but the houses are still, and have been over the centuries, lived in.
Such old houses sometimes have their date of construction marked on stone, and presumably the house I spotted today is aiming for a similar effect. And failing. For now.
Because while its year of origin looks a bit silly now - it is a whole year younger than I am - one or two centuries from now it will look all the more impressive. If it survives that long.
#I don't know what its chances are of surviving that long#a couple of years back my youngest sister and I drove by the house where we grew up#my parents sold it and moved to a flat maybe 7 or 8 years ago?#and the new owners have made the house invisible on google maps#so we had no choice but to cruise by and it's completely different now#like we had a very Belgian house with bricks and pointed roof with standard tiles#and the new one is basically like a white box?#I mean it's not actually a box but it's all square-like and white and with a flat roof#from what I remember#like it looks like a completely new house except you can see some small details that are the same like a column supporting the second floor#so I don't know if this 1990 house has a high chance of surviving future renovations#our house was built in 1983 so only 7 years older#a story every day#17 september#2024

Jason, who starts gaslighting his family members by saying that All Blades were always a thing and that they just didn't take him seriously, once they found out about it.
Bruce, frustrated: If you yielded a magical sword in the past, I would know, Jaylad.
Jason: Jesus fucking Christ, I told you, I don't use it often, since it uses my soul. But I did mention that I have it!
Dick: You did not!
Jason: I said that Robin gives me magic! I said I *am* magic!
Bruce: That's—
Dick: But—
Bruce and Dick, turning to Damian helplessly: Your verdict?
Damian, who got already paid by Jason (price was two sneaked in rabbits): That's true. Mother said Todd had always had them. He only ever was sent to All Caste because he needed to be taught how to use it correctly. Didn't Dulcra say that you were the chosen one, Todd?
Jason, intentionally irritated: Exactly! Thank you.
The rest of the family: ●○●
Bruce, sitting in the Cave, in the middle of his 300th existential crisis: I— If Jason is the chosen one, was I technically wrong in our argument?
Dick: ...I can't believe that this is what takes you to accept that you were wrong, and not the fact that— Dunno, he is your son— And you kinda failed him—
Tim: On the more important note, should we call Jason Harry Potter now or something?
Stephanie, snickering: Jason... You are a wizard!
Bruce, sniffling: He did like these books as a child. Perhaps it was his way to try to tell us the truth.
Dick: Damn... Once we were arguing, and I told him that he had no magic... How foolish I was.
Jason, pressing phone to the shoulder, while cooking: ...And now they are staring at me, like I am about to do the whole Enchantix transformation, lol
Talia: I admit, that's amusing. Damian did a great job at supporting this circus.
Ra's voice on the background: Enchantix? What is it? Had that boy found ANOTHER magical device plot?!
Talia: ...Do you think I am too old to pull the same move you did on my father?
Jason: Nah, it is never too late to trick your dad. Get his ass.
Talia: You are absolutely correct.
Talia, screaming to Ra's: He did, father. It is related to the constant cycle of being brought back alive.
Jason, turning around to Damian, who is playing with rabbits on his couch: Prepare, little gremlin. You are about to testify falsely again, this time to your grandfather.
Damian, snorting: Two golden fish and one parrot.
Jason: I will warn your mother.
Tim, with Excel Chart open: Okay, so we figured out that he has All Blades, strange version of immortality, quick recovery thanks to Pit... What other magic Jason can have we don't know about it yet?
Cassandra: Cooking?
Stephanie: ...I think he is just a normal person, Cass.
Dick: NO, no, listen, it is one thing to cook normally, another to be trusted by Alfred.
Duke: ...You are reaching, guys. I think he is just a good chief.
Bruce: He always makes me laugh.
Tim: That's not— B, no one laughs, but you, so what kind of magic power is that?!
Duke: Listen, y'all, what if he sees ghosts?
Everyone: (pauses)
Stephanie, hitting Tim on the shoulder: WRITE IT DOWN, WRITE IT DOWN—
Tim: I am putting it in the "unclear" column, but good idea, dude.
Alfred, glancing at all of this sceptically: Dear Lord, this family is not your brightest soldiers...
