Atsushi’s eyes went wide. He hadn’t realized that swiping some of Ranpo’s chocolate as a gift for Akutagawa would bring such consequences, but he was here now, so he had to deal with them.

“O-Okay, deal,” he stammered, already glancing around the office like he was going to have any clue where to begin.

Ranpo grinned and leaned back in his chair lazily, waving a hand at him. “Go on. I’ll even give you a little longer than usual.”

Atsushi turned and bolted out of the office, hurrying down the hall to his coworker’s locker. All he had to do was figure out the code and break in before Ranpo came for him. Or, more specifically, for his chocolate – which Atsushi had stolen. That’s how he’d gotten into this situation in the first place. But it wasn’t his fault! Ranpo’s locker door had been left open, and it wasn’t like he didn’t have a ton of other candy…

Atsushi shook his head. No time for that now. He had work to do.

He tried everything obvious first – Ranpo’s birthday, Poe’s birthday, Fukuzawa’s birthday, the ADA’s founding date – nothing. All of it was wrong. Then he tried the time Ranpo had probably realized his sweets were missing, as well as a couple of other time-related combos. Again, nothing.

He was up against the world’s greatest detective. This was impossible!

The door to the offices opened. Atsushi froze as Ranpo strolled out into the hall, sauntering toward him with a smirk on his face.

“Figure it out?” he asked.

“N-No,” Atsushi replied, shifting into a sitting position. There was no point in trying to run, and really, didn’t he deserve this? He should have just bought the chocolate himself. It probably would have meant more that way…

Ranpo stopped in front of him and crouched, still smirking. “Really? I’m surprised. I figured you’d get it immediately.”

Atsushi frowned. “But…why would you make it obvious if you didn’t want me to get into your stuff in the first place? Which I shouldn’t have, I know, I’m sorry.”

Ranpo grabbed his ankle and dragged him away from the lockers so he was lying in the middle of the hall. Then he straddled him and gently began prodding into his sides. “If I was really mad, I’d be making you buy me twice as much as you stole. You wanna know what the code is, Atsushi?”

The weretiger giggled helplessly, embarrassed but willing to take this punishment for his crime. “W-Whahahahahat?”

“0-3-0-1.”

Atsushi’s eyes went wide. That was… “Ahahahahakutagawa’s bihihihihirthday? You knohohohow that?”

“Of course. He means a lot to you, and you mean a lot to us.” Ranpo’s smirk softened into a smile even as he switched tactics and started scribbling all over Atsushi’s belly instead. “So, you stole about five chocolate bars, right? I think a minute for every bar will do.”

“Buhuhuhuhuhut why wohohohohohould you make thahahahahat your cohohohohohode? And why tehehehehehehell me?”

“Oh, I’ll change it after this, don’t worry,” Ranpo replied, chuckling. “I just wanted to know how obsessed with him you really were is all~”

Atsushi felt himself blushing, and not just from the tickling making him laugh and squeal. “Rahahahahahahanpo…!”

we need to talk about Inprnt.com

Following a really good post with more screenshots and evidence by @dynasoar5 i'm going to talk about my own experiences with @inprnt and why I am about to put my shop on indefinite hiatus from Monday the 14th of August.

First of all I'll say that since starting my print shop last year it has been a significant help to me financially - I was able to not worry about affording car insurance or motor tax (together commonly over a thousand euro) when I bought my first car, for example. I am immeasurably grateful to anyone who chose to buy one and I treasure all the pictures I've been sent of my prints hanging up on people's walls. Right now they are displayed in a real (if small) art exhibition in my home town.

They're great prints. Never had any complaints about them. But here's what's going on behind the scenes.

Earlier this year, around March or April, Inprnt sales started increasing in regularity. I'd made as much as $600 a week during previous sales when I made proper promo posts here, but with this increase in regularity, I felt that I couldn't make promo posts every single week. And then one day, I'm not sure when tbh, the sale just never ended. It just didn't stop having that "Ending soon! 15% off your order" banner at the top of the site. Right now it says "Final Hours: $5 Worldwide shipping and save up to 35% off your order!" and not even for a second do I believe in this final hours bullshit. It's been 'final hours' for weeks now. Months, even.

Why is this a problem? Well, how tf am I meant to make a promo post for a sale that is always "ending soon!!" and then never ends. One week it'll say "this weekend only!!" and then when the weekend is over, the sale banner just changes its wording and the sale doesn't end. I can't promo this, it makes me look like a liar and a skeevy salesman by association! It makes the site look like it's 1 week from crashing and burning, and the site owners are just scrabbling to suck as much money from artists as possible before they drown.

And they are sucking money from us. To peel back the curtain, Inprnt money can only be transferred to my paypal account 30 days after the sale is made, just in case the order is cancelled and refunded. This means I used to make one withdrawal every couple of months, when there was enough build-up of money to make it worthwhile. It also forbids withdrawing any sum under $50 btw. I would make a withdrawal request and then, after a 10 business day wait, it would reach my Paypal account.

Not anymore! The past few withdrawals have taken over a month to complete. They are straight up keeping my earnings from me for longer the agreed period. This was my last fulfilled withdrawal:

And here is the latest withdrawal request that still has not been fulfilled.

It's coming up on 1 month and if the pattern continues, it could literally be November or December by the time I fully clear all sales.

So what's going to happen to my print shop? Because my art is currently being exhibited with a QR code linking to the shop, I can't close the shop this week. Instead I will close it on Monday the 14th of August, next week. That means that on the 14th of September, I can withdraw all of the remaining money without having any left over. My account balance will go to 0 and stay there. Although I'll de-list my prints I will leave my account there, because at the end of the day I don't want to leave Inprnt. It still offers the best artist margins and as I'm now unemployed after graduating, the additional support is such a load off my mind. So this is a chance to wait and see - if they improve their services, I'll happily re-open.

It's a big deal to me because selling prints is sort of my ideal life as an artist. I never had the attention span or self-discipline for commission work and I found that it left me creatively stagnant. I always want to try new things, new concepts and ideas, and being able to think "yeah, people will like this as a print" while I experiment is honestly very reassuring. And I know that in going on hiatus, it'll break a lot of "buy a print" links in my circulating posts. Oh well lmao. If you want to buy a print right now - go ahead, it might be your last opportunity. Velvette Redesign! (2/3)

Im madly in love with her, I am so happy with her design🩷🩷

I cannot take all the credit for the outfit though, my friend helped me pick out the style and accessories, I just did her hair and picked the colours! It was really hard to actually settle on one thing to show Velvette, I never draw her in the same outfit or with the same hair, so picking a singular outfit and hairstyle as her main was a big commitment, felt like I was buying my first house

Anyone that just flattens and straightens Velvette’s hair is seriously missing out on so many fun hairstyles I have literally never drawn her with the same hairstyle ever. Textured hair is so fun I will die before I stop playing with her hair!! She is a fashion doll it’s the whole point !!!!

I wanted her to be a sharper contrast to Vox’s harsh-ish symmetry he has going on. The Vee’s are still not good people in this rewrite obviously. They’re not as dogshit as they are in the show but they still actively do terrible things. Velvette still verbally abuses her employees and enjoys seeing other people’s downfall or seeing them scared and under her control; she just doesn’t make a fucking date rape drug. I still have no idea why Vivzie is so set on making all of them connected to rape in some way it’s fucking disgusting to me. Anyway, I want Velvette to look very fun and unassuming in comparison to the other two where you can kind of tell there’s something up with both of them. Vox is very stern looking and Valentino is… like that. You’ll see. She is arguably the most approachable out of the Vee’s but is still just as manipulative as the other two when she wants to be.

Her hair is very cute and the theme of hearts around her style unintentionally makes Vox the only one out of them that doesn’t have a heart motif. I mean— unless you count his medical alert bracelet, but that’s not really… a fashion statement.

I love studded belts and all that and purses and bedazzled jeans and platforms so this design really has it all for me. The playboy bunny thing is supposed to be painted on btw, she’s not just super tanned I promise. The same ideas for her colours with her clothes still remain from my last post about Velvettes design.

Onto her backstory! This was all graciously written by my friend so please give him a big thank you for it or I probably would’ve died🩷

March 2nd 1974, Velvette grew up in a mostly stable household. She went to school, got what she wanted, made friends, grew up, passed her GCSE’s and so forth. She did a course in design and beauty, and eventually made her way up to be a fashion designer. That being said, Velvette was always someone with an attitude. She didn't enjoy the amount of fights she got in, but it naturally occurred. Her grades were fairly good enough though— B’s and C’s. Each day of her life she enjoyed what she did, and heavily adored the attention she got for her beauty. Her creative side was what she preferred, much rather than showing off her looks. She was deemed to be the best employee and got multiple raises in payment as she worked her way up the power—pyramid in the company she worked for.

But that being said, what she received was unfair to other workers. Nepotism was a huge part of her promotions and rise in payment. Her friend who she knew was the owner, and that only paved routes for short-cuts. As long as she was able to keep everybody hush-quiet, she’d always have her way. She always would benefit, and she’d always be the best.

Velvette was aware of her misdeeds. At one point, illegal means crossed her mind, like stealing other people’s work and accusing them of serious things that got them fired. The owner would never bat an eye, and everyone was conscious of how nobody was truly safe. It was like her friend was obsessed with her to be the one who came out victorious, and by even the slightest chance she was in any way suspicious, it was blatantly ignored. There were also reports of people dying if they spoke out about the company, however those were only confirmed as rumours.

Never did she plan to stop. She’d come so far, and had become successful in what she dreamed of. Her care amounted to nothing if there was something to gain. All throughout her life, she was a troubled person with a great intelligence— which is why she was able to exploit so many people and get away with it. People called her the ‘vile jasmine’ of the world. People were afraid to step into work and see her, because one day, they were certain they’d be her next target.

July 25th 2005. Her final few minutes of her life. Velvette was a fashion designer, and could sew pretty well. It’s not like she had TERRIBLE ideas, she just took pleasure in stealing and having other’s wince at their misfortune. But alas, Velvette was known for her interest in dolls. She could design outfits for them, without having an audience to watch and judge. A display stood behind her desk of many different dolls, and she had just ordered some materials that were waiting for her to come pick them up. It was at that moment, when she closed her front door, that fate was sealed.

A serial killer had been roaming the streets of her city. No one knew who, or where, but he had definitely not left. With flip phones being the new way to communicate easier, Velvette had been texting with the buyer and talking about the perfect dates to meet up. As she was waiting in her room that Monday, the confirmation to go had excited her. She drove to the destination, and knocked on the door with a falsified smile. If only she had stepped a couple steps back after knocking— perhaps she would’ve survived.

Appearing in hell was overwhelming, as much as it was satisfying. She was dead, yet somehow alive. As she looked at her hands, she discovered skin was not present. Pure silicone… and tattered clothing. From there, she decided she’d start again… and work her way up within four years until she was noticed and recruited by two other sinners whose name coincidentally began with the letter V.

She met Vox and Valentino in 2009, and from there, they grouped together and planned to dominate hell itself.

Velvette is biologically still 31, however if you were to count hell, she’d be 49.

She hasn't gone through any abuse, she is no victim, she’s just a morally wrong character.

Does not care for her employees health or anything, and will only be nice if she is able to benefit.

Could be considered a sadist in some form.

HAPPY BIRTHIVERSARY part 1 - THE SIMS 2 IS 20???

FUN FACT: The Sims 2 (2004) was released 3 days before the date upon which I was released from my mother's womb, therefore making me younger than The Sims 2 by 3 days as of September 14th 2024, but objectively older by 6 years as of September 17th 2024. The march of time is inevitable and frightening! Let's celebrate!

Admittedly I didn't have very much to give when it came to sharing content for the Sims 2's anniversary because I've been battling the Chronic Exhaustion Demon, but then I realized I still haven't released those hair colors I showed a while back. And then I realized I could share EVEN MORE content by spreading it out across a few days instead of condensing it into one day. And it just so happens that, as stated above, there are two special occasions (for me at least... lol) close together on the calendar. SO. HERE'S SOME COOOONTEEEENT.

Today's bundle is mainly a resource for creators who use GIMP 2.x, and includes 11 UNNATURAL HAIR COLORS in the form of Curves that can be used on just about any texture you want, as long as you use it on a Volatile base These only come in Curve form, but if anyone would like to convert them into Photoshop actions, you're more than welcome to.

The colors are named, in order of appearance above: Sapphire, Tanzanite, Azurite, Alexandrite, Moonstone, Aquamarine, Bloodstone, Ruby, Entropy, Blue Moon, and Lily. You can read more about them under the cut.

The Gemstone colors were inspired by, of course, gemstones. They were my first attempt at making a hair color palette of my own. Out of them all, Moonstone, Bloodstone, and Alexandrite are my favorites.

I wanted to go for something fantastical. I also wanted to push GIMP's Curve function to the limit and see how many shades I could put into one color without it looking like garbage.

I use Bloodstone, Moonstone, and Aquamarine as Red, Blond, and Grey respectively in my (still hypothetical) Alien hair color family.

Entropy - intended to be alien "black", a very desaturated indigo color. since Alien sims born in game typically have black hair genetics (unless using a pt mod that changes this), I wanted it to really stand out against both the Maxis mint green and any alternative Alien themed skin tones despite its overall 'plainness'.

Blue Moon - intended to be alien "brown", I wanted to go for a color that was strange and unsettling in comparison to human brown hair. I think I originally intended it to be more blue but it came out more desaturated teal instead. Attempts to change this made it too similar to Entropy for my liking, so I left it as it is.

These colors were originally created and named after the sims I specifically made them for, and I was going to use them only on a small handful of hairs. But I liked the shades so much that I decided to incorporate them into my personal palette. And so, with that in mind, it didn't feel right to keep them to myself.

'Lily' maintained its name as a color, but 'Ruby' was renamed to what it is now. In my game I bin them as Brown and Black respectively because they're meant to be considered 'dyes' in-universe and I wanted to be able to make their associated sims in CAS without having to make them go to the mirror in-game every time I put them in a new hood, but you can do whatever you want with them lol.

Tweet 9: The Tachyon edition is the unfinished first draft of the story. The IDW edition is a gorgeous graphic novel. But in terms of the novel? I don't know how many reprints it had (if anyone knows, I'd love to find out), but there's a good chance it went out of print in the 70s.

Conservative estimates could put that between 10 and 15 years since the book was last available in the UK. This gives you a generation in the UK who only know the story through the film! Gonna try for 1-2 short, last minute Apologies AU side comics before I drop The True Ending and declare this AU (mostly) finished.

This one (the "beginning" of the White-Haired Noir AU) was already semi-complete (I had originally intended to color it) so here you go!

Noir wasn’t the only one willing to stoop to criminal acts to save them. Alas, they are doomed to never leave the planet together…

This is basically how the Dark Matter Painter stuff comes about.

For a bit of clarity - while there wasn’t a full script for this - in the AU AU reality, Adeleine was the one responsible for “killing” the sibling’s mutual best friend, Raquelle (whose soul would go on to feed/host the future Dark Rimula) by over excitedly sharing the paintbrush’s magic with her and, in playing around with it, accidentally turned her into a (living) painting, a process she found she could not undo...

Her tormented attempts to do so anyway, pushing the paintbrush’s abilities to create/duplicate life, plus the innocent girl’s shame and desperation to hide her responsibility for taking the life of the girl who was a combined parent-sister-friend for her AND the closest person Noir had to a friend outside herself (with the gift HE got her) was too much for her, allowing Dark Matter to get a firm grasp in her.

She had just enough time to finish her picture perfect forgery pass for Noir (her own smeared into illegibility) before it consumed her.

...Noir's date of birth is March 21st, btw. (Being Dark Matter Swordsman's birthday and all)

...Man, between this comic, the last story, and the one coming up, it's "Not Very Fun to be Adeleine Week" on Desultory Novice. ^^;

Wasn't going to see Deadpool 3 bc I'm not up to date on the MCU and don't care to be. But I was at the mall for roach traps bc my landlord sucks, so I wanted escapism. Going to this and getting some top-tier ramen after was some nice short-notice therapy.

Good news: if you were a y2k baby and X-Men were your childhood, it's nostalgic AF. The only modern thing you need to know is that there's a bunch of time-space cops and they had a guy go rogue and try to off a branching timeline. Bc no Wolverine = sorry why do y'all exist again? Sadly, no, Hugh Jackman did not get a musical theater sequence he deserves.

But in general, it really was a hit of nostalgia for me. Like, seeing Ryan Reynolds dancing to Bye Bye Bye in a Deadpool costume just really hit both those y2k radio and the "sneakily rented DP 1 at 15" points. There is still a lot of juvenile R-rated humor like defiling a corpse and stabbing below the belt to bubblegum pop. I also may have hyena-laughed at the "Disney won't let us do the marching powder" scene.

Tbh I initially wasn't on board with massively blowing up the scale of the conflict from 1 and 2, but it somehow worked with Deadpool's character devolution/recovery. Like yeah, he resigns himself to being a bit character that just sells merch to teens and college kids with utterly rotten sense of humor. And being a used car salesman (truly the 2nd grossest job after working for my landlord). And that bombed interview in the beginning was painful to watch. But it was sweet to watch him realize that he can still help people, even if he's supposed to just be a murderous clown that's an HR nightmare. And awwww, he helped Logan realize that he can still get a 2nd chance, even if he's supposedly the worst Wolverine.

The direction is... well, it's no Leitch with Domino's finessing in 2. But it's still largely readable, obligatory CGI f-fest of the last half aside. Tuxedo Mask's roses were Takeuchi's idea

BELOW: An excerpt from the January 1992 issue of Nakayoshi features a number of ads for Pretty Soldier Sailor V, which at one point was the working title of what eventually would become Sailor Moon. Note how the cat in the image is distinctly white, like Artemis, rather than black like Luna. You will also note the dark haired guy with his back turned is carrying a rose. The text connected to him reads something like:

A good-looking guy who's my type, could he be Usagi's sworn enemy?!

Remember, in the manga, Tuxedo Mask's alignment is questioned as early as chapter 4, where Luna and the others are uncertain if he is friend or foe.

Sailor Moon Chapter 1 was finally published in the February issue of Nakayoshi btw, so the change was apparently very last minute. However, the actual release date was 28 December 1991, with the anime episode adapting this chapter going out on 7 March 1992, a incredibly fast production period.

Evidently, the idea of Tuxedo Mask using a rose as his signature weapon was something Takeuchi was toying with and had in mind enough that the anime committed to it before she changed her mind.

Hey there! First off, I wanted to thank you for all your analyses and thoughts on P5 - they've really helped deepen my appreciation of this monster of a game! Now, onto the question (why yes I did create a Tumblr just to ask this, ha) - when do you think Akiren was arrested? I'd guess late March from context clues (or a little earlier if he's from a warmer place), but a couple weeks seems like a really quick turnaround to be placed in Sojiro's care. Curious to know what your thoughts are!

Wow, thank you! That's really kind of you. Great journal name, BTW.

I don't think it will have been two weeks. IMO it will have been some time the previous year, most likely in the summer holiday. Ren is out after dark, and he and the woman are both lightly dressed. You can see green leaves on the trees in the background—this is not definitive by any means, but by September, leaves on trees in P5 tend to have faded to brown, while in March the trees tend to be pink and in blossom.

(Also, notice how built-up this area is, and how tall the buildings are. A lot of people think Ren is from somewhere like Inaba, but this scene makes it look like he's from somewhere more like a regional capital.)

Ren is what's known as a "Type 1 Juvenile" (p. 123)—he's been sentenced to probation by the family/juvenile court, for at most until his 20th birthday. After a year, he can be discharged from probation if he's behaved himself:

If the probationer has complied with their conditions and has led a sound life for at least a year, the Director of the Probation Office can permit an early discharge.

Note that "live a sound life". We see it quite often in the top right-hand corner, as "live an honest student life". And that period of a year that Sojiro keeps bringing up is important—Ren won't have been allowed to sit around waiting for the new school year; he's likely just been sentenced, and reported in short order to Leblanc.

How long was the trial process? Ohya mentions in her confidant that she looked into Ren's conviction and thought it was obviously unsafe: "I have to say though, the ruling made in your case was really odd. Some kind of deal must have gone down behind the scenes to make sure that was the end result."

So it was probably rushed through. But it's Japan—even a rushed trial is going to chew up a fair amount of time. The prosecutors have to investigate and compile reports that make them look good and not corrupt, the trial date has to be set, the judge has to read everyone's reports and make a decision (Japanese trials are often essentially conducted on paper). Then there's sentencing and appeal. Then Ren's professional probation officer in his hometown (Sojiro is a volunteer probation officer, or VPO) has to find a school that will take him and a place for him to stay and (technically) receive guidance.

Could it be seven months or so, August-ish to March? Probably easily, yeah.

why doesn't he repeat a year

So if Ren is arrested around August 2015, and started his first year of high school in April 2015, why doesn't he repeat the year?

Well, first of all, do we know Ren is 16? Could he have been in his second year in his home town? I think we would have heard about this, honestly—someone would mention that he looks too old, or Kamoshida would have mentioned that the terrible transfer student is Repeating A Year. Ren likely is the same age as the rest of his year group.

While it's almost unheard-of for children in Japanese elementary and middle schools to repeat years, it's quite common in high schools. You can repeat for not getting good enough grades, or for poor attendance. But repeating must be approved. If you're seen as having, say, a poor attitude? You're likely to be politely told to shove it, and move up with the rest of your year.

I don't think we can fairly say that post-conviction Ren is perceived as having a good attitude. He certainly is not at Shujin. I think Kobayakawa threw him into the second year not caring too much if he sank or swam.

Ren also may not have been expelled from his original school until he was convicted—which would mean, based on this timeline, that he did get most of his first year of high school.

Singing Falling, knowing the lyrics kind of proves my previous point. A song listened to a lot as opposed to one that probably isn't but suited a point JK wanted to make or suited a mood JK was in at the time.

Anyway, JK released this song on the 4th anniversary of his and JM's trip to Tokyo.

Let's talk about live 4. Because JK wasn't going to come back for another part 4. Given, he ended part 3 while crying (yes, he was crying) and I'm assuming forgot to convey the message he wanted to and for which he came back with live 4, which was around 5 minutes long.

In live 4 he tells us he wanted to say goodbye properly. It's not that he didn't say goodbye at the end of part 3. Just saying.

He continues to say that he wants us to be happy. Be happy even if they aren't there. The translation here is a little different on Weverse than it was from the translation accounts. Weverse translation being happy even if they aren't "here", while the accounts were translating it as be happy "even without us". Kind of rings differently.

Him bringing it up then and there made me think that perhaps that's what was one of the things on his mind when he was pensive prior to the tears forming in live 3.

Anyways, JK came back to also (or perhaps to mainly) convey another message:

So yeah, JK telling us to look forward to midnight, something amazing is coming, "please look forward to that".

He meant this amazing thing, btw:

Fake tears, not the real ones that came at the end.

Throughout the 3 lives JK makes use of those fake tears.

Funny story he tells us, that he actually bought a whole lot of them for Bam, who was having issues with his eyes. Laughing at how similar the two are, eye problems, skin problems...

It does look like he's having issues with dry eyes.

But, when seeing it, every single time he pulled out those eye drops, I couldn't help but think about this:

Ok, so this, to me, is a big one, and as usual kind of overlooked.

As opposed to many that think so, I really really don't think this was about showing us his ARMY tattoo, or being proud of his ARMY tattoo.

Why don't I think it's the army tattoo he's showing us?

Maybe because of everything going on? Maybe because he told us he wasn't too happy with the army tattoo itself.

Maybe because he picks the song, Golden hour by JVKE (when showing us the hand).

Maybe because he sits and listens to it, lingering on.

Maybe because he plays around with the candle, placing it just in the right place to showcase the tattoos he was planning to show us and when he was done he pulls it back towards himself.

Maybe because he clearly knew the song, and the lyrics as well.

Maybe because of how he timed it, showing us the tattoos at the exact timing that he did.

Maybe because of the way he showed them to us, the way he wiggled his fingers.

And maybe, just maybe because just as he finished showing us those tattoos, the JM clearly darker and thicker than the other letters, he also sang specific lyrics from the song he knew, complimenting showing us the tattoos with:

"... the love of my life..."

humming the continuation, omitting the lyrics which are female directed.

March Touhou calendar characters

Sannyo Day is approaching late this month.

btw: if you want to know the secret strategy to getting a Touhou day fast even if you are new, and a stage 3 boss; then be a demo character who has the syllables in your name line up with the date 3 days after your game's demo releases.

though getting a day really isn't hard at all, people love coming up with holidays.

Especially if you can make a pun. Japanese puns with numbers make up the vast majority of Touhou dates. But since artists more or less just invent them whenever, it makes sense.

And March is pretty well booked.

(Though very front heavy, so many characters in the first half)

On the 2nd we've got Sunny Day

March 3rd is Hina day, since it's literally the holiday she's associated with.

March 4th is Myon day

(Youmu's nickname but in the west we sometimes call Youmu's half-Phantom "Myon". Which is conveniently the easiest character in all media to make art for)

March 5th is Miko day.

Both Miko as in Shrine Maiden for Sanae and Reimu, but also an extra Miko day for Toyosatomimi no Miko (generally, the fanbase likes to use the birthday for Prince Shōtoku as a Miko day, but if you want to do Miko art it's always cool to have an extra excuse to celebrate again)

March 7th is Sanae day

Yes, technically Sanae just had Miko day but this is Sanae's day all to herself.

Except it's not.

March 9th is Sakuya, Sagume, and Mishaguji day.....(Suwako's snake creatures)

It uses the "I" and "ba" from 1 and 8 to form the pun for Inaba

March 20th is MikoFuto Day

Once again using the "Mi" from 3 to create another ship pun. Using it with "Futo" 20 this time.

March 21st is Sunny day

yes. That is correct. This might seem like a prank, but you can make a Sunny pun two different ways in the same month. But by cheating...

3 and 2 give you "Sa" and "ni" just like on March 2nd and the 1 gives you an "i". So instead of "Sunny" like March 2nd on March 21st you get "Sunnyyyyy" a prank Sunny Milk would be proud of.

Finally, the last character date of the month is March 24th.

Spring 2011: Donny and Angel start dating; anti-mutant sentiment on the rise, Bishop apparently busy again. Raph very stressed about Bishop and wanting to be able to handle it without Leo; oh btw Mikey would like to pursue a college degree. Oyuki gets a job at dojo

October-December 2011: Mikey disappears; Leo returns, furious that things were allowed to get as bad as they did and the Ninja Tribunal didn't tell him his family was in danger (he thought they would because TAO did). When Mikey is rescued (from Bishop) his arm is infected and must be amputated.

Spring 2012: Turtles meet Mona Lisa, who explains how mutagen is being leaked purposely in areas suspected of harboring aliens, to give hate groups credibility as well as punish those (like her) who stick up for aliens. Splinter begins writing a book. Turtles are banding together with other non-humans as world becomes more hostile. Oyuki joins O'Neil Tech team

Summer 2012: Leo and Splinter visit Usagi; Mikey is determined to get back to work on his degree; O'Neil Tech recruits Harold. Mikey and Oyuki start dating

Fall 2012: Usagi visits turtles world; Leo takes the Dojo back up so Mikey can focus on school

January 2013: Donny proposes to Angel

April 2013: rival tech company developing robots with alarming level of sentience and then abusing them (Nano followup basically), April and Donny find themselves fighting for robot rights which makes O'Neil Technologies both a laughingstock and a target. btw Neutrino crew returns to work there. Mikey is now dating Ia

Summer 2013: Turtles gather allies and make a plan to come out of hiding; being in the shadows hasn't been working, people are suspicious and afraid, there's lots more lives at risk now, they need to rethink their strategy. Angel gets badly injured. Turtles meet Punk Frogs

November 2013: Raph Battle Nexus champion (their family is going to be banned for winning too often 🤣)

January 2014: enter Timothy. Raph enjoying socializing with other mutants, especially close with Mona and Genghis. Mikey depressed that they aren't the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (now we're just, like... regular mutant ninja turtles), breakup with Ia

Spring 2014: Donny's secret therapy, unfortunately coinciding with TAO moving to NYC. Much conflict in general as bros all want to stay living together but have different life goals, plus there's Angel now and Raph has basically been living with Mona Lisa and Genghis Frog and Mikey's very busy at school and etc. etc. In other news, Raph finds a baby mutant turtle named Lita. Mikey dates and breaks up with Woody

Summer 2015: Karai invites the family to Japan. Chaplin wants Donny and April's input on a robotics project gone wrong, Karai is finding herself freshly mourning her father and seeking advice/understanding of family history from TAO and Splinter. Time travel shenanigans.

December 2015-October 2016: Ch'rell jailbreak, space adventure to stop him (he has of course moved on from the idea of conquering earth, his goal now is to get away from the utroms and find a planet where he can steadily build up an empire until he is able to plan revenge). And they all get home just in time to take 6 y/o Cassandra and 3 y/o Lita trick or treating

November 2016: Lotus Blossom wins the Battle Nexus, befriends turtles. Her and Leo quietly become pen pals

January-August 2017: speaking of Cassandra she wants to be a ninja. Also Splinter falls ill. Donny builds them a Place (in NYC) to all stay so they can be close to him, and also start her training (strictly recreational (I'm sure that will work out for them))

May 2018: Agent John Bishop is abducted by aliens. Mikey finishes his masters!

August 2018: Leo and Usagi break up for good; April and Casey announce second pregnancy

October 2018: Cody arrives to ask for help with O'Neil Tech in his time

March 2019: Splinter passes

May 2019: send Cody home

July 3, 2019: Nova Lynn is born (Cassandra is 9, Lita is 6)

November 2019: Battle Nexus year, turtles miss

December 2019-January 2020: Mikey and Kala start dating; Casey and Timothy accidentally go on adventures across dimensions and get banned from the lab

May 2018-September 2020: Bishop has a stolen spaceship now, crashes on his way back to earth, gets rescued by aliens, spends time there healing and has his change of heart, returns to find Earth in the middle of a pandemic.

January 22, 2021: Leo and Lotus wed

Fall 2021: Angel's dad attempts to get back in touch with his adult children

November 2022: Battle Nexus Year; Leo wins, Donny does not participate (Mikey is much more sad about this than Don is)

June 13, 2023: Mikey and Kala wed

also in 2024: Bishop runs for President on the premise of intergalactic peace (he loses). April recruits Bishop for O'Neil Tech; he turns her down and disappears. Mikey and Kala rescue and adopt triplet robots Alli, Jax, and Zinnia (renamed from 003a, 003x, and 003z)

November 2025: Battle Nexus year, Mikey takes back his title

2032: Bishop, now going by a different name, becomes governor of New York

So Gilded Age Season 2... Spoilers ahead.

I've been watching my pretty costumed crack and enjoying it, but one thing has been niggling at the back of my mind: How FUCKING Fast everything is happening this season. Like OMG so fucking fast. Or at least it feels fast, Julian Fellows (JFell) is not good on the specifics. But plots are simultaneously too slow and too fast (Poor Jack and his clock) or just so fast as to be OMG (Ada and Reverend Forte)

And because I can't let it lie I started looking shit up. Because we have two concrete dates for this season and dammit, I'm gonna use them. (As a note, I wanted to also use when Porter Hall at Tuskegee was dedicated, but all I could find (even on Tuskegee's website) was that it was built by students in 1883 and demolished in 1905. The first is when the season starts: Easter Sunday 1883. Which was March 25, 1883 just so everyone is on the same page.

The second is when the Brooklyn Bridge Opened - May 24, 1883.

So two months. Two bloody months.

Only two months for the following:

Ada to meet, be courted by, marry, have a honey moon, and be widowed by Reverend Luke Forte played by the chronically tragic ending actor Robert Sean Leonard.

Larry to have a grand affair with one of his clients enough so that he'd want to marry her and for it to be gossip.

Oscar to meet, court, and be conned by the lovely Maud Beaton.

Everything with the Duke. Like OMG...

Jack and his clock. Sure he worked on the clock for weeks. But then he had to go to the patent office and get a response via the mail then have Bannister get someone from the horological institute come out. The waiting via mail and the government bureaucracy alone will take a month and it was addressed in a single episode.

ALL OF THE TRAVEL. Yes, the railroads helped with this, but it only shortened things from months and weeks to days and hours depending on distance. It'd still be a multiple day journey from NYC to Tuskegee, Alabama.

Like I get that JFell wanted to include certain things in his story, and sure some of the stuff that I listed can go faster. But all of it?

In particular things like the U.S. Mail system which had to go from NYC to DC, get checked, get rejected, a letter of rejection to be written, then sent back to NYC. Today, in the year of our Lord & Lady 2023, it takes a letter to travel between NYC & Washington DC approximately 3-5 days (1 day processing at DC, 1 day transit, 1 day processing, 1 day delivery (some of these can be faster depending on when drop off/delivery occur). (BTW I know mail, I worked for the post office doing tech support and my father worked for them for 25 years and set up the computer systems that tracked mail cross country.)

So all of this to say that things are moving fast this season. It isn't just me. And like a I get that things moved quickly, especially in regards to romance, but bureaucracy is never quick and this is a hill I will die on.

Still... even more than that. Poor Ada!!! I loved my gentle middle-aged romance with the woman being older than the man (or at least the actress being older than the actor). *Wails* She deserved more time!!!
